Larry David story. Well, there are two things. One, Larry
David came as a guest of Rich Eisen. What a
power move? A flex by one Richard Eisen. And since

Rich and I had a moment.

Yes, because that's what a few compliments about your radio
show will do. And that's what I did last night,
Not because he was hanging out with Larry David it
was a power flex, but because I genuinely enjoy Rich's show,
because I've had a chance to listen to it on
the way into our shows. Great show, It's got a
nice flow. And so Rich turned to me, he gave

me a little hug. He said he really appreciated it.
He said, it means a lot coming from someone who
knows how hard it is to do this. I talked
about his staff, I buttered them up, but I was
being sincere and I was being genuine and he felt
it and we had a moment.

Yes, the one person that I had a moment with.

So we had Brady Quinn on And for those that
don't know, Brady's sister is married to former linebacker AJ Hawk.

I had a moment with him last night. To me too,
he said, he's coming by today.

So when we had Brady Quinn on, we asked him
what's something that would surprise people about his brother in law?

Do you remember what his answer was?

No, I forget.

His answer was that he's a great cardgiver for birthdays
or holidays.

Yeah, so I brought this up to aj Hawk and
he said.

Don't believe a word. Brady says, he gave me a
different answer. Oh wow, how about that?

I asked aj about it and he confirmed it.

He said that he likes to put a lot of
thought in the card. Wow, and he likes to let
the people he loves know that he appreciates.

Oh man, and we love aj Hawk.

It was a don't judge a book by its cover
moment for me because you see aj Hawk.

The only time I really see AJ Hawk is in
that little box on the Pat McAfee show.

And he's very quiet, he's very reserved.

He could sit right in between us and just bob

He doesn't have to say a word. And he was laughing.

There are certain days when you're watching the Pat McAfee show.
Aj Hawk's words per minute and what he's getting paid
words per minute, Yes, is as high as anybody could
get in terms of words per minute because he's really
not contributing a ton on the show.

Well, he'll go several minutes without saying a single word.

I think that you could. You could watch the Pat
McAfee show. Yeah, and forget that AJ Hawk is on it,
Which is not to say he doesn't do a great
job on that show. He's just very he's very selective
in terms of when he's at.

He picks his spots exactly well. Listen, he's a friend
of Pat's. He has supported Pat. Pat has hit you know,
a grand slam. He's the biggest thing going right now
in sports media, McAfee, and he's loyal to AJ Hawk,
who helped him get Aaron Rodgers on a weekly basis,
who helps him get a lot of stuff. You know,
because Pat McAfee, with all due respect, was a punter,

AJ Hawk a linebacker who has had real relationships with
real NFL guys. And so you know, if Pat is
just going to bring aj along for the ride, and
aj wants to be along for that ride, I'm all
for it.

He deserves it because loyalty is big in this business.

And when you think NFL linebackers, you think they're tough,
and you think they're hard nos and then they've got
a certain bravado.

The other person that is always cool to see out here,
Jason Kelce. Yeah, where I'm watching Jason Kelce try to
navigate his way through crowds. He can't do it anymore,
and I'm getting overwhelmed. Yeah, And it's got to be
a bit overwhelming for somebody like Jason Kelce who enters
the NFL as an offensive lineman. Offensive lineman, they don't

get a ton of credit. If you know an offensive
lineman's name, it either means there are Joe Thomas level
offensive linemen, right, they're like one of the all time greats, yes,
or they're like a terrible turnstile offensive lineman who the
only reason you know his name is because he gets
beaten like a like a drum with it by Miles Garrett.

Right, or they made a horrible mistake that costs some
team game no longer in the league, and you just
kind of know their name.

So, if you're Jason Kelcey and you're coming into the
NFL as an offensive lineman, you never really think that
you're going to be catapulted into super stardom where you're
hosting the late night talk shows and your sister in
law is arguably the most famous pop star in America.

Yes, well so, I think when he started the podcast
with Travis, he saw his popularity grow.

He's a great guy, you would agree. He's a great guy.

Like you can tell you there's a friendship between me

of them, I really do. I love the Kelsey family,
the fan fantastic. But when your tailor Swift's brother in
law taking five steps without someone bothering you, those days

In fact, last night, when we were leaving the food
truck event, I tapped him on the shoulder and I said,
I'm out of here. I'm going to go gambling, and
he said, I'm right behind you. Because he wanted to

couldn't eat. And so Jason Kelsey is amazing. So you
noticed that last night, Like he it's a different kind
of Stufy. He's up there with Larry David. Yeah, it's

have a bet this year. Yes, the loser has to

And for those people who are unfamiliar with the American

Century Championship scoring system, and albatross has ten points. A
hole in one is eight points, an eagle six points,
a birdie's three points, a par is one point, a
bogie is zero points, a double bogie or worse is
negative two points. Yeah, so you basically have to play
bogie golf for three days to finish in the positive, right.

Jason Kelsey last year finished minus fifty one. He was
eighty six in the field. He feels very confident though
that this is his year.

He also doesn't care. I mean the guy's wedding at life.
He really is. Yeah, but outside of the five steps,

We were told that everybody on the list it was intentional,

life story, Travis's life story, or the coming together of
those two. Yes, and then you're wondering, what did what
did Dean Blandino have to do with Travis Kelcey's impact
in his life? But you know, the reps are normally

is crazy. So Taylor, you have started to I think
you have seen with your own eyes here kind of

Marty Fish and his whole crew. So it's Jake Owen,

the shuttle and trying to go up to this. You know,
it's it's the players meeting the night before. It's the
greatest room in sports. And feeling's like, hey, there's room

Let's go. There's a seat right next to me. And
I'm trying.

on the next one and I was trying to bow
on my friend, right, Marty Fan. Marty's like Stu let's
go get in and so but I get in the
van anyway, okay, And I'm sitting right next to theling,
and thelan's telling his story.

Charles Woodson is also in this fan special van Taylor.

Wow, it's a special shuttle, right, and thelan's telling a
story about how a certain cornerback dislocated his shoulder in
a game, and that cornerback was Charles Woodson.

And Charles Woodson was hearing the story for the first.

Time because he played so long and hit so many
people that he had no idea that he dislocated Adam
Felen's shoulder. And we all just started cracking up in
the shuttle because the NFL is so crazy. And that's
from that standpoint where Charles Woodson put out him feeling
out for essentially the season and had no idea until

many years later when Feeling's telling his story and a
shuttle in Lake Dyalo.

So Feeling knew that it was Woodson. Woodson didn't know

I mean he won the AC cranked up. He was
sitting in the back.

He was asking me to climb over to turn up
the AC and I'm like, twelve man, leave the driver alone.
And you know, feeling to the middle of a story.
But wooson dislocating a should the twelve men. He's on
the j of the guy. He was hot though, I mean,
he wasn't being a dva. He would just be twelve men.
Speaker 4 (11:00):
I mean the sun is different here. The sun. It's
hard to describe the sun in Lake Tahoe. Yes, but
it feels like it's always sitting on top of your head.

That's like the best way I could describe.

It feels like it never goes down, like I don't
know about you. When I go to sleep, I have
to like I'm creating darkness because there's no darkness here,

Yeah, I'm still on East Coast time, so I've been
going to sleep probably like seven pm every night, eight
pm every night, but to me, it feels like eleven pm,
and it is. The sun is still fully out every
time I go to sleep.

Yeah, I went to the pool at midnight. Wow, sunny out.
I mean I didn't do that.
Speaker 4 (11:45):
I was gonna say. I was a little insulted. I
didn't get invited to the pool.

Would you rather have been invited to the pool or

I took to the to the event last night.

So I'm going to go with the pool only because
of the fact Tailor Twelman made it sound like you
were in hell. We were a shuttle in terms of
how hot it.

Was by the way, we were traveling less than a
half a mile. Twelve man was just hot. I understood it.
I understood what he was saying. I was sitting up
front so I could feel the air. He was way
in the back and sitting next to Marty Fish and
someone else who's very tall and Taylor's not very tall,
and he squished in the middle, and we were all
packing it in there, and it was hot in there,
so I understood someone had to say it. It was twelve men.
He doesn't care. I mean, he's a country club kid.

I mean, yeah, he wouldn't even mind me talking about this.
He would be glad to come on and talk about it.
It was hot in that vent. How do you feel
about my move of trying to avoid my friends in
that van to get on Larry David's fit.

around that you have taken into your second trip here

You know, what is my first time playing tournament golf.
So coming out here and having to keep everybody scores
and and and count strokes and all that. Usually you
just count your own strokes and play the buddies. But
that's that was the biggest thing, Like actually sitting at
the swaring table at the end and going through all
everybody's scores and having.

To keep up, Like you're like, oh, I'm three pretty
holes behind.

How'd you get into golf?
Speaker 6 (13:53):
Uh? Just everybody else is playing. And my dad played
when I was growing up, and I thought it was
too boring. I was like, but I wish I would
have started, And I started probably eight years ago, seriously
taking it right.

And yeah, the games. I love the game. I'm addicted.

I mean, I saw you hitting on the range a
couple of minutes ago. I got to tell you. Me
and Taylor here we're thinking about putting a flyer on

minority stake owner in AFC Bournemouth. What made you want
to invest there?

My neighbor, My neighbor's Bill Foley is one of my
business mentors. He lives like right next door to me.
So we'll go and we'll talk. We'll talk business and sports,
the whole nine leadership. And he came to me and said, hey,
I want you and Michael B. Jordan to be a
part of Bournemouth. And he said, we're getting it at
this time for this, and he gave me all the numbers.
I said, it feels like everything Bill touched his turns

to gold the Golden Knights, no pun intended. Yeah, you
know his businesses, everyone businesses he started has been successful.

So when Bill says to do something, you basically do it.

but I had fun doing it. Then I was like,

What's the most valuable business lesson you've learned along the
way here?

Most valuable business lesson is if you're going to do it,
believe in it.

Right. I think that's that's huge.

You go out every day and it's like you want
to believe in the product that you're that you're that
you're pushing, or or the the company that you're with.

it's hard not seeing them make it to the playoffs,

So could there be one team from that division that
makes it to the playoffs because they in the AFC East. Yeah,
I could see that happening with Buffalo. Is it unlikely
the Patriots will miss the playoffs? Yes, but you're saying
once they get there, get all the way to the
super Bowl, and I'm saying no, So I'm gonna say students.

Yeah, so they add Aj Brown, so on paper, that
should be an upgrade over Stefan Diggs.

But when you're a team like the Patriots, who were
pretty fortunate last year in terms of schedule, yeah, it
felt like a paper tiger schedule. And then maybe that
fact kind of got exposed when you play the Seahawks
in the Super Bowl. Now they're getting the first play schedule,
so it's gonna be a lot tougher for them. I
do think they make the playoffs, but I do think

you're right that it's more likely that they missed the
playoffs than make it back to the super Bowl because
your one quarterback injury away, yes, from your season being tanked, but.

You're also have that quarterback. So it really depends on
the quarterback. If he develops the way a lot of
people think he's going to develop, meaning if he takes
a next step and he gets even better than he
was last year, that could overcome a lot Like a
lot of the stuff I was talking about locker room Vrabel,
all that goes by the wayside when your quarterback turns
out to be great.

in sports media, McAfee, and he's loyal to AJ Hawk,

who helps him get a lot of stuff. You know,
because Pat McAfee, with all due respect, was a punter,

AJ Hawk a linebacker who has had real relationships with
real NFL guys. And so you know, if Pat is
just going to bring aj along for the ride, and

for it.

the whole nine leadership. And he came to me and said, hey,

this time for this, and he gave me all the numbers.

to give you an example of what Taylor is talking about,
the greatest football player who has ever lit, Jerry Rice
is four spots away from Barkley, and no one is
talking to Jerry Rice.

By the way, right next to Barkley was Marty Fish.
And I don't often give gambling advice, and I'm not
giving it now, but if you are going to bet
this event, the American Century Championships, and you bet on
anyone other than Marty Fish, you are making a big mistake.

He's like, Stu, check out this new fade I've been
working on. So he's hitting it out to the first
flag here, Taylor, it's about a hundred yards. Abb I said, listen,
depending on how you hit this shot, determines how much

unloading the entire bank account about that.

So I'm looking at the odds right now. Yes, Marty
Fish is the favorite. He's plus two to eighty five

raining champ. You got to think it's going to be
tough for somebody to go back to back. He's plus

So what are we thinking here? I'm thinking I'm just
going straight Marty, you know. I mean, Fowler was pretty
confident about putting him in for a top five, top ten.

Anytime you wear the outfit that Dextra Falla did, you
never have to question that man's confidence and that man's ability,
because when you wear an outfit like that, everything else
comes second.

By the way, I walk past Robert Sala before you're right,
Oh my god, he's the best.

Looking man here. This is a looks contest. He would
win it every year.

reason alone, the gesture to kept him a the head coach.

So when I saw Marty Fish earlier, yeah, he's a
good looking guy too. Marty Fish is a two time
champion here at the American Century Championship twenty twenty and
twenty twenty four. My personal record book, the twenty twenty
one didn't have fans here. Well there's a little asterisk nexts.
So that's why for me, his twenty twenty four to
one carries even more weight because it was like, can

he do it with fans in attendance? Marty Fish answered
that question emphatically.

So you will laugh at this when he won the
first one with no fans here. We came back the
next year and Marty was the first guest we had on.
So you know of me and Marty's friendship, you know,
it's real and you know, insults, so the language of
intimacy amongst friends. And he sat down and the first
thing I said to him is do it when the
fans are here.

He got really mad at me. He didn't talk to
me like the rest of the week. He was very upset.
Speaker 5 (25:57):
But you're right.

Yeah, well he did it though, now he'll do it again.

Listen, he is by far the best golfer here. I'm

But when Jack Nicholas says that he is the best
non PGA Tour player I've ever played a round of

Can pull it off again this weekend. You wanted to
get in some NFL here. I had no idea why
we're in the middle of July. We're in like Tahoe.
But I do feel like, in your defense, we have

away from football. Because college football is right around the corner.
The NFL is a couple of months away. We are
not that far out from the football season starting. So

First one, the Patriots are more likely to miss the
playoffs than to make it back to the super Bowl.

I'm gonna say Stu Gotts. They're more likely to miss
the postseason all together than make it back to the
super Bowl. Without getting into too much detail on this,
I know a lot of people want me to talk
about it, but I just think the whole Vrabel thing
it throws things off.

I don't care what anyone tells me. I think people
are looking at him cross out in the locker room.
If God forbid a player did that, he might cut them.
And so It's just gonna be interesting to see how
the Patriots respond to all of this. But when you
consider the other teams in that division, the Jets, the Dolphins,
it's hard not seeing them make it to the playoffs,

you know what I'm saying, Well, the Bills are there too,
So could there be one team from that division that
makes it to the playoffs because they in the AFC East. Yeah,
I could see that happening with Buffalo. Is it unlikely
the Patriots will miss the playoffs? Yes, but you're saying
once they get there, get all the way to the
super Bowl, and I'm saying no, So I'm gonna say students.
Speaker 4 (29:11):
Yeah, so they add Aj Brown, so on paper, that
should be an upgrade over Stefan Diggs.
Speaker 3 (29:17):
Yep.

But when you're a team like the Patriots, who were
pretty fortunate last year in terms of schedule, yeah, it
felt like a paper tiger schedule. And then maybe that
fact kind of got exposed when you play the Seahawks
in the Super Bowl. Now they're getting the first play schedule,
so it's gonna be a lot tougher for them. I
do think they make the playoffs, but I do think
(29:39):
you're right that it's more likely that they missed the
playoffs than make it back to the super Bowl because
your one quarterback injury away, yes, from your season being tanked, but.
Speaker 1 (29:47):
You're also have that quarterback. So it really depends on
the quarterback. If he develops the way a lot of
people think he's going to develop, meaning if he takes
a next step and he gets even better than he
was last year, that could overcome a lot Like a
lot of the stuff I was talking about locker room Vrabel,
all that goes by the wayside when your quarterback turns
out to be great.

So we'll see if Drake May is going to be great.
