Speaker 1 (00:00):
Be sure to catch live editions of Stu Gotson Company
Live weekdays at three pm Eastern twelve pm Pacific on
Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
Our two s Togatza Company. I have bumped Frank Kelly Endo.
I asked him to join us on Tuesday or Wednesday,
because I am not terribly confident in the connections here,
not with Fox Sports Radio, just our connection and being
able to get Frank on and allowing Frank to do
what it is he is so great at doing. So
I have asked him to join us on Tuesday or Wednesday.
Speaker 3 (00:33):
And he laughed at me and hung up and said, Okay,
I mean, but whose voice did he laugh at you in?
Speaker 2 (00:38):
It was Adam Schefters. Yes, we got a lot to
get to, man, we really do. There's so many things
that happen over the weekend, and a lot of the
shows aren't getting to many of the big stories from
over the weekend. Because Sean McDermott was fired by the
Buffalo Bills, and it's rare to have that job come up,
and that kind of job with that kind of quarterback,
(01:01):
and now you have not one, but two. I want
to ask you guys, though, the biggest loser from the
weekend because I think a lot of people would say
Josh Allen and I would tell you that it was CJ.
Strep that was one of the worst performances. And I
don't know how we arrived here, but somehow, Mikey, we
(01:23):
have arrived at the Houston Texans seemingly being a quarterback
away from winning a Super Bowl.
Speaker 3 (01:32):
When you consider that CJ.
Speaker 2 (01:33):
Straud was the talk of the NFL just two years
ago as a rookie, it's crazy.
Speaker 4 (01:39):
It's amazing to think of what he was able to
do two years ago and the fact that we're looking
at this team now going man, that Texas team might
be a quarterback away, right if they have justin fields, Yes,
they might give the Patriots a game there.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
Yes, Yes, I was telling the guys earlier. I think
I told you this earlier Mikey on God Bless Football.
Please subscribe to that as well, download subscribe rate all
that good stuff. I was telling the guys that there
was a time where I thought houst did I was
gonna win that game. And the observation I wrote down
on the notes app of my iPhone was Stidham CJ.
(02:15):
Stroud clear advantage to the Denver Broncos.
Speaker 3 (02:21):
So CJ.
Speaker 5 (02:23):
Stroud finishes twenty to forty seven, four interceptions, five total turnovers.
Last week, I got laughed out of the room when
I suggested Davis Mills to go into the game.
Speaker 2 (02:35):
I thought about him.
Speaker 5 (02:36):
I did this weekend you thought about Davis Mills. I
sent you a text. Yes, a lot of people had
that same thought. Where do you pull CJ. Stroud? And
if you do pull CJ. Stroud, does Davis Mills win
that game for the Texans? And I think the answer
today probably yes.
Speaker 2 (02:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:52):
It just makes you wonder what it would have had
to take for him to pull CJ. Stroud. When, as
somebody else watching the game with halftime, it was like, wow,
it's like trying to exaggerate, said, this guy's like throwing
like four interceptions already, and it was actually four interceptions,
Like you and you're just losing the ball every time,
and it feels like every time you do get the
ball off, it's like half an inch away from another
(03:15):
defender getting a finger on it. It just felt like
the worst possible game a quarterback could have. And then
you just start asking yourself, all right, did we get
fooled by his rookie year because normally, you know, when
a quarterback's first contract this age of the NFL, whether
they're super Bowl ready, some teams are dumb enough to
pay a quarterback that isn't that guy. And that's to
(03:37):
a tongue of Bielow and the Dolphins as an example,
some teams, you know, find another quarterback and decide to
move on. CJ. Strouder's really got this team in a
pickle after just that one performance.
Speaker 4 (03:49):
Davis Mills might have made himself a lot of money
by not getting in that game.
Speaker 3 (03:52):
Yeah, you're right.
Speaker 4 (03:54):
The question of what Davis Mills could have done might
have made him some money right there.
Speaker 3 (03:58):
Yep, I'm curious Taylor, because Taylor is a Patriots fan.
You want to explain why you're a Patriots fan.
Speaker 5 (04:04):
Taylor mcollins was my roommate at Carolina. I just cheer
for whatever team mccollins is on.
Speaker 2 (04:09):
Right, Taylor was a walk on wide receiver at the
University of North Carolina.
Speaker 3 (04:12):
Yeah, he's the second most athletic person on this radio show,
and it's you know, good.
Speaker 6 (04:16):
Thanks him, yes, and he's also hoping he's also Yeah,
you're welcome, Mikey. He's also hoping that Belichick, as a
proud Carolina a former football player, that Belichick gets hired
by the Bills.
Speaker 3 (04:27):
So as a current Patriots slash mccollins fan, who mccollins
will come on the show with us, but only if
we go to Boston. Doesn't want to do this over zoom.
We're on the telephone. How do you feel about the
Patriots right now? Because they will if they get there,
have the easiest path to the Super Bowl in history
because c. J. Stroud gave them a game right the
(04:50):
Chargers just refuse to show up with an offensive line,
and then you're gonna have the bo nixless Denver Broncos
that he would have gotten past to get to the
Super You're feeling good about the Pats right now? You
think they're a little bit of smoking marriage right now?
Speaker 5 (05:04):
Through two games. I think the most surprising thing that
I have a feeling wise towards this Patriots team. I
feel a lot better about their defense through two games
than I do about their offense. And that's not really
something you would expect to say when you have a
quarterback like Drake May who is either the MVP or
the second place for the MVP. He's taken ten sacks,
(05:25):
six fumbles in two playoff games. But this defense, I think,
if you're Mike Rabel, you want to have a team
that's built through your defense. And there's ben times this
year where the defense has kind of looks shaky, But
now it's a fully healthy defense. And when Milton Williams
is healthy on that defensive line, it's a completely different defense.
And Christian Gonzales at corner is probably one of the
(05:45):
most underrated players in the NFL.
Speaker 2 (05:47):
Mikey A, have you noticed, just quickly here as an aside,
how nice Taylor has been to Ben Johnson every time
we bash him. Have you noticed that at all?
Speaker 3 (05:57):
I have noticed it a little bit.
Speaker 4 (05:59):
It's almost as if he's, you know, my god, trying
to try to get him on the line here.
Speaker 2 (06:03):
Yes, So it's like he's trying to smooch him. Yes,
So Taylor has his number. Ben Johnson was a walk
on quarterback at North Carolina. Taylor was a walk on
wide receiver at North Carolina. A couple of walk ons
cutting it up. And so Taylor is being overly nice
to Ben Johnson every time we criticize him because he's
trying to get Ben Johnson on the show.
Speaker 3 (06:25):
Is that fair?
Speaker 5 (06:27):
Semantics?
Speaker 3 (06:29):
What do you mean? Semantics?
Speaker 5 (06:30):
Semantics?
Speaker 7 (06:31):
Right?
Speaker 5 (06:32):
Because one, I do want to defend Ben Johnson because
that Bears franchise has been a loser franchise and then
he comes in one year to the point where, yes,
the Bears lose today, but those fans, Bears fans aren't
waking up today feeling like losers. No, I think part
of them is feeling like they won that game and
that that house money aspect of that game. So yes,
(06:53):
I'm gonna defend I'm gonna I don't want to call
him a friend.
Speaker 2 (06:56):
Yet, right, Well he's not, I mean acquaintance perhaps, yes, yes.
Speaker 3 (07:02):
A guy whose phone number I have. I think that's
probably probably the way to go.
Speaker 5 (07:06):
Yes, But if I met Ben Johnson, yeah, I have
one thousand percent confidence that after that meeting he would
consider it.
Speaker 2 (07:16):
What's your play here in terms of trying to get
him on the air, Like, what do you get? You
have to wait a couple.
Speaker 3 (07:20):
Of days, you know that?
Speaker 2 (07:21):
Right?
Speaker 3 (07:22):
Yeah? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (07:22):
Maybe maybe we asked him to phone in during radio
row super Bowl week.
Speaker 3 (07:27):
He's fond of doing things shirtless. We all do we
all take our shirts off and say, hey, come come
do the show with us, take your shirt off.
Speaker 2 (07:33):
I think super Bowl week is probably that's too long.
He'll be over it by then. I mean, because listen,
there are different types of losses in the NFL playoffs,
and the loss that he absorbed yesterday, while his fault
for not going for two is a loss that Chicago
can live with. And I'm not doing Taylor any favors
here trying to get Ben Jonson on because I'm bashing
(07:53):
him today. I'm just gonna I'm just saying, listen, if
you're the guy that's going to go for two wall
season long and from that Dan Campbell coaching treat, you
think Dan Campbell would have went for two in that spot,
I guarantee you he would have, and Ben Johnson didn't.
At home with that quarterback with a team on the ropes.
But I think you should text Ben this week. I
do don't bring up Dan Campbell's name right now.
Speaker 5 (08:15):
Dan Campbell might have been a Ben Johnson merchant because
you take Ben Johnson away from him, because we know
it wasn't taken away Aaron Glenn, because we saw what
the Jets did. You take Ben Johnson away from Dan Campbell,
and all of a sudden, Dan Campbell started, We're human.
Speaker 3 (08:30):
He did have that jutcher. He started calling plays with
the big giant playbook and everything against it against the
commander a little bit. But yeah, I think he's definitely
been utilizing more of Ben Johnson than I think we realized. Taylor.
Speaker 2 (08:42):
You handed me the sheet here that has Houston Texans
observations on it because we couldn't get to all the
weekend observation. We can observations with that, Nan Burk, Are
you wanting me to read these? Is that what you're
asking me to do?
Speaker 5 (08:53):
No, so to break to break the fourth wall here?
I handed it to you so many you slip in
a couple of those.
Speaker 3 (08:58):
CJ.
Speaker 2 (08:59):
Stroud is the Tom Brady of Nathan Peterman's you going,
we got something good right now? I think it says
something about CJ. Strab that Demiko Ryans thinks a punt
is their best offense.
Speaker 3 (09:16):
And he's right.
Speaker 5 (09:19):
That was the saddest punt of all time, by the way,
it was.
Speaker 3 (09:22):
Yes, it was.
Speaker 2 (09:25):
Demiko Riots great coach, bad quarterback. Do you think Demiko
Ryans has reached out to his agent and said, hey,
I think Buffalo would be interested.
Speaker 3 (09:40):
How many points did the Texans win that game by
if they had Josh Allen?
Speaker 2 (09:45):
Oh my gosh, I mean, how are the Patriots. The
Texans were in that game like they were in that
game in the second half, playing that poorly.
Speaker 3 (09:54):
Was the point in the game where I said to myself,
if the Texans somehow pulled this off with that performance
at quarterback, they're going to win the Super Bowl, because
it seemed like they had the most dominant unit in
the sport and so to you know, the same way
people feel in Chicago about Caleb Williams and Ben Johnson
right now, I think they feel the exact opposite. In Houston.
(10:18):
I think they feel like a complete blown opportunity because
they started off poorly, a little bit of a disappointment,
but then they figured it out, they saw their strengths.
They won with Davis Mills. They figure, of course we
can win with CJ. Stroud, and then that now you're
questioning your quarterback for the future, and it just feels like, oh,
are we going to be that, you know, team that
nobody wants to play because of this defense, But we're
(10:40):
never actually going to get anywhere because we don't have
the quarterback play. It'd be pretty frustrating to be a
Texans fan today.
Speaker 2 (10:46):
I think he's up for an extension CJ.
Speaker 3 (10:47):
Stroud.
Speaker 2 (10:48):
You can't. There's no way based on that performance and
based on the last two seasons, you can give him
that kind of contract, can you.
Speaker 3 (10:54):
That's the question is which version of him are we
going to get? Are we maybe overstating Demico Ryans and
his value? Maybe you know, it could be another coach
or another offensive coordinator that really gets the best out
of CJ. I don't know, but I think if you've
never watched football before and you watched him play that game,
(11:16):
you'd probably say to yourself, yeah, I don't think this
guy's any good, right.
Speaker 8 (11:20):
C J.
Speaker 4 (11:20):
Stroud might be the Michael Jordan of Carson Wentz's taking
that one year and turning it into a career.
Speaker 2 (11:27):
Taylor put that on the poll. By the way, what
Mikey just said, And also, if you watch football for
the first time yesterday, do you think CJ. Stroud is
the worst quarterback to ever play?
Speaker 3 (11:36):
I think I think Carson Wentz is the Michael Jordan
of Carson Wentz is I think c J. Stroud maybe
like a Clyde Drexler. Well, no, Stroud is a Tom
Brady of Nathan Peterman.
Speaker 5 (11:49):
It feels like every offseason with the Texans to play
Devil's advocate just on behalf of c J. Stroud because
God knows nobody is coming to c J. Stroud's defense today.
Speaker 3 (11:59):
Well why would you.
Speaker 5 (12:00):
I mean, every offseason we say, hey, the Texans have
to address their offensive line, they have to give c J.
Stroud a better run game. And then we go into
the season and in last offseason's case, their offensive line
got worse trading Laramie Tunsel and you make your offensive
line worse. And you're like, hey, c J. Shroud, not
(12:20):
only did we make your line worse, but we need
you to be better now. So I'm not ready to totally,
you know, get rid of c J. Stroud or think he's.
Speaker 3 (12:29):
I'm not saying get rid of c J. Stroud.
Speaker 2 (12:31):
I'm just saying you can't pay him, but what he's probably.
Speaker 5 (12:34):
Gonna come, especially with how much he's regressed.
Speaker 3 (12:36):
Get rid of whoever played quarterback for the Texans this weekend,
because that wasn't didn't look like c J. Stroud. Whatever
he was doing there whatever, like this decision making was horrible.
It's again, it seemed like he had no pocket presence
because he couldn't see or feel the guys that were
about to make a play on the football. That I
don't know. That doesn't seem like just regression. It seems
(12:58):
just like a weird like a mental.
Speaker 2 (13:00):
Maybe maybe it was he seemed like he was scared
to be out of the football.
Speaker 3 (13:03):
Maybe it was the pressure of that level of the playoffs,
maybe it was the weather. Whatever it is, you gotta
find out what it was. Because if he's going to
repeat that type of performance whenever he's under pressure, whenever
he's under poor conditions, you can't fly with that.
Speaker 4 (13:17):
How many teams would take CJ Stroud right now if
you if you let him walk, if you didn't give
him that contract. How many teams would take CJ based
on his first year? But based on his first year,
there's not a coach out there who doesn't think to himself,
if I got that guy, I could fix the problem.
Speaker 2 (13:33):
Do you think Sean Payton would take CJ stradd this weekend?
Speaker 3 (13:37):
Oh yeah, I think he'd take Philip Rivers.
Speaker 2 (13:38):
Over Jared Stidham, is what I'm saying you think he
take Philip Rivers, do you?
Speaker 3 (13:44):
I'm still Peyton Manning. I think that's the best choice.
I mean, what are we supposed to do?
Speaker 2 (13:49):
Jared Stidham is two games away from winning a Super Bowl.
I don't want to watch Jared Stidham with a Super Bowl.
Speaker 3 (13:55):
No, you don't have to worry about that. No, is
he the nature of the NFL?
Speaker 2 (14:00):
This guy has a home game, Okay, he is a
home game of what you can win a home game.
Speaker 3 (14:05):
With your backup quarterback? You could do that against the
way the Patriots are playing, at least offensively. You you
probably can't.
Speaker 2 (14:10):
You well, listen, and the Patriots should have blown out
the Houston Texans and they didn't. And Drake May turns
the ball over a bit too. So the NFL is
so funny, it's so weird that no one should be
surprised if the Broncos find themselves in San Francisco with
Jared Stidham is their quarterbow?
Speaker 3 (14:27):
What I like where you're going with this. If the
NFL has a problem of people thinking they're scripted, watch
this right. Watch the Denver Broncos win would have scripted
Buffalo right into the Super Bowl. Yes, precisely. Nobody wanted
Jared Stidham and the Seattle Seahawks with their you know,
Zach Zachary Sharbonay now going down, uh not probably the
(14:47):
most exciting team and you've got uh. I mean, the
Rams would probably save the NFL by winning the Super
Bowl and making it seem pretty in these last couple
of games. But yeah, Denver winning it all would be
sort of the anti script that everybody would say. You
know what, I'm gonna shut up about the NFL being
scripted because that's just terrible. I'm telling you right now.
Speaker 2 (15:07):
If Jared Stidham ends his career with one more ring
than Dan Marino, I quit.
Speaker 3 (15:13):
Quit what not the show? I just I quit. I quit.
I quit just asking because I was like, do I
have to do the heavy lifting year? What happened?
Speaker 2 (15:21):
I quit football? That would be so unfair. It would
be so unfair a guy Marino's caliber not having a
ring and Jared Stidham having a ring because bow Nicks
got hurt.
Speaker 3 (15:31):
You know what, you quit football? Me and you NBA podcast?
Speaker 2 (15:34):
Oh, how about you should launch one of those. It's
real GOODI eras, and how how about bow Knicks. Here's
a conundrum. He's not gonna feel fulfilled if the Broncos
win the Super Bowl without.
Speaker 3 (15:45):
Him, right, I mean, ask Carson Wentz, right, do we
consider him a super Bowl champion or do we consider
Nick Foles?
Speaker 2 (15:52):
I mean, Carson Wentz was the MVP before he got hurt.
Then Nick Foles came in, and then we had Jake
Tepper on the show. And I asked Jake Tepper, who
was a big Philadelphia fan, his Mount Rushmore of Philly
sports guys, and Nick Foles was on it.
Speaker 3 (16:05):
Carson Wentz was not. I think that's your answer.
Speaker 2 (16:08):
Okay.
Speaker 5 (16:09):
Did you see on social media Nick Foles tweeted the
Broncos and he said, hey, guys, I know you guys
are going through it right now. But if there's any
team that struggles to beat recently placed backup quarterbacks n Broncos. Yes,
I mean it's the New England Patriots.
Speaker 3 (16:23):
Yes, tongue there, Yeah, a little bit, a couple of them.
Speaker 2 (16:29):
I was only referencing the first one that was a disaster.
Oh my god, you okay, listen, he's rattled. He drove
all the way from New York to get down here.
He rented a car, he's living in an Airbnb right now.
This is his first live radio show. It's like he's
(16:50):
walked into a foreign country. He is so used to
doing this in his living room, and now we're at
a live radio station. And by the way, radio has
not changed. Mikey Okay, I haven't walked into the station.
Speaker 3 (17:00):
Five.
Speaker 2 (17:00):
There's no one here. I mean, there's not a salesperson
in sight. I mean, but I guess it's a holiday.
Speaker 3 (17:06):
The tailor's credit still pretty calm, Yeah, still pretty collected. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (17:10):
Eight seven seven nine to nine on Fox.
Speaker 1 (17:13):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 2 (17:23):
We were all laughing, I think at the guy calling
the Cavs game.
Speaker 3 (17:28):
I know I was. I'm still laughing at admirable job.
I was.
Speaker 2 (17:32):
He made him David Robinson. I meant.
Speaker 5 (17:35):
I was picturing Sean McDermott in like a admiral outfit.
Speaker 3 (17:40):
He looks ridiculous, the little sailor caps. Yeah, oh god.
Speaker 2 (17:45):
Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox we have calls
on the board. Now, I am telling you I left
radio for five years or so, and I came back
just to take calls. We do podcasts before the show
starts to Godson Company, god Bless Football and is he's
going to start a podcast soon?
Speaker 3 (18:04):
I hope.
Speaker 2 (18:05):
We have some other things that we're working on here.
Speaker 3 (18:08):
I'm getting to it, but.
Speaker 2 (18:11):
I'm going to take a call here, and there is
a lot of pressure.
Speaker 3 (18:15):
Now.
Speaker 2 (18:15):
I'm not certain who I'm going to, So everyone on hold,
listen up. If I go to you, you're the first
call in this show's history, and with that comes a
ton of pressure and expectation from this crew.
Speaker 3 (18:30):
Don't hang out, yep.
Speaker 2 (18:32):
Just be good or terrible or terrible. Just don't be
eight and eight. Okay, that's all we ask b oh
and seventeen be seventeen and oh, just don't be eight and.
Speaker 3 (18:44):
Nine or nine and eight.
Speaker 5 (18:45):
Jeff Fisher. We don't want the Jeff Fishers of sports rate.
Speaker 2 (18:48):
Jeff Fisher, get the hell out of here, and say
a lot to Art Briles when you get there.
Speaker 3 (18:54):
Do I have to explain the Art Briles joke? I
think most.
Speaker 5 (18:59):
People people are familiar with his work.
Speaker 2 (19:01):
Okay, he resides in Hell. I have his number. Should
we get him on so.
Speaker 3 (19:07):
He's still alive? Yes?
Speaker 2 (19:09):
But it now, Yes, all right, who should I go
to listen. I'm gonna let Taylor choose the call. I'm
gonna let you choose it. I'm gonna let you introduce
the phone call, Taylor. And I'm just telling you if
he calls your name, just don't be eight and eight Okay?
Speaker 3 (19:23):
All right?
Speaker 5 (19:23):
Uh Jeremy in College Station? What do you got?
Speaker 9 (19:27):
Ay?
Speaker 8 (19:28):
Too?
Speaker 9 (19:29):
Man?
Speaker 7 (19:30):
First time? I am a big follower and a member
of the too army.
Speaker 3 (19:37):
Yes, thank you, show guy.
Speaker 7 (19:38):
Appreciate it, Thank you for your service.
Speaker 2 (19:40):
Thank you buddy.
Speaker 7 (19:40):
Then Uh yeah, absolutely, man. I listen to you guys
all the time on the podcast and so so I'm
glad that you've got the phone calls now. But uh, anyways,
uh yeah, Sean mcgarmott, I mean, if you can't get
the job done in nine years is far too long
for it. I'm a I'm I live down here, Texas
(20:01):
and College Station, so I mean this stuff doesn't always
get successful down here either. So but you know, Brian
Dable I think would be a good selection for the
head coach. And I know a lot of people are
going what you know and how you know he didn't
do anything in New York, But you know, a lot
of his guys got sent to other places.
Speaker 3 (20:22):
So he was the coach of the year is rookie.
His first season there, he was coach of the year.
Brian Daball was coach of the year.
Speaker 7 (20:28):
So yeah, yeah, yeah, So I mean, I just I
think it would anybody could do it, but I think
Brian dable to do the best. So I just wanted
to call in and say, hey, man and congrat big
list and big fans.
Speaker 2 (20:43):
All right, what's your question.
Speaker 3 (20:47):
He makes a great point here without about actually making
a great point. He makes a great point. Nine years.
That's a long time. It is a coach man like
even if it was eight years, it might have been eight.
But do you know who the Dulphin head coach, for example,
when Sean McDermott started in Buffalo was.
Speaker 2 (21:04):
M pre McDaniel obviously nine years ago. You also have
it Tony Sperano. No, mmm, Rex, Ryan, I don't have
Rex's phone number.
Speaker 3 (21:18):
Dave wants that. No, Wow, come on, I'll give you
a hint. You want to hint? Yes, crazy eyes.
Speaker 2 (21:30):
Adam g Yes, I was too good of a hint.
Speaker 3 (21:33):
Yes, you associated with crazy Eyes exactly got a giveaway.
But yeah, yeah, he was the last he was a
Dolphins head coach with McDermott. Uh starred in Buffalo. And
so when you think of that long of a tenure,
you imagine it's because he's doing very good things. And
really it was just Josh Allen the whole time.
Speaker 2 (21:51):
Right, nine years is plenty of time. He's had plenty
of time to get it done.
Speaker 3 (21:54):
There.
Speaker 2 (21:55):
I said he should have been fired two years ago,
Sean McDermott. He got an extra two cracks at it
with a great quarterback, and especially in a conference where
you consider that Mahomes didn't make the playoffs this year,
and that will probably be the last time Patrick Mahomes
doesn't make the playoffs if he comes back one hundred percent,
and you consider Lamar Jackson.
Speaker 8 (22:14):
Was out of the playoffs as well. I mean, he
was so Josh Allen, man, Jesus, he's gotta be kicking himself,
and he got his coach fired. Let's go to what Christmas? Christmas?
Christmas in La Christmas.
Speaker 3 (22:25):
Go ahead, do my.
Speaker 9 (22:28):
Good old friend, ho ho ho to you, speaking of firing,
speaking of hell, speaking of our rials, Chris Ball gets
fired tonight if he loses.
Speaker 2 (22:37):
Uh No, listen, that's how you do it.
Speaker 3 (22:40):
That's how you do it.
Speaker 2 (22:40):
So listen, let me tell you you are fifteen and two. Okay,
last caller a little bit.
Speaker 3 (22:47):
You know ten and seven ish?
Speaker 2 (22:48):
All right, but you Christmas, you are fifteen and two.
Speaker 3 (22:51):
That does Christmas? Christmas in La in La? Yes?
Speaker 2 (22:54):
Does christal Ball get fired? It's ridiculous. If they lose tonight,
I cannot I cannot believe. If he told me five
years ago when I stopped doing radio went to podcasting,
that I'd come back and we'd be looking at a
day where Indiana is an eight point favorite over the
University of Miami and football, I would have laughed you
out of the room.
Speaker 3 (23:15):
But I was wrong about crystal Ball.
Speaker 2 (23:16):
I said, they never get to a national championship game
with Mario crystal Ball, and here they are playing for
a national championship tonight. If they lose tonight, no, he
does not get fired.
Speaker 3 (23:27):
He does not get fired. But he's done.
Speaker 2 (23:30):
He's done a better job busy than I expected him
to do, just in terms of being able to get
his team. He hasn't had some of those moments late
in the games where he usually makes a bad coaching decision.
Speaker 3 (23:43):
He hasn't been faced with that.
Speaker 2 (23:44):
It'll be interesting to see what happens tonight if that
game is close, because that's where Mario has struggled is
late in games, managing the time, managing the clock, making
the right decision. But hey, I was wrong. It's okay
in sports radio. Put your hand up and say you
were wrong.
Speaker 3 (24:01):
I was wrong.
Speaker 2 (24:02):
Mario has gotten them to a national championship game. And
whether he wins tonight or not, I know Kines fans
want him to win. We're in South Florida. We'd like
to see the Hurricanes win, but Mario's going to be
here for a long long.
Speaker 3 (24:14):
I'm a Gator. I don't really have those feelings for
the Miami Hurricanes, but I do think I've been thinking
about this a little bit. This is probably the best
case scenario for the college football playoff where you have
a dominant team all season in Indiana. Yeah they barely
beat Penn State, Yeah they barely beat a couple teams
here and there, but they are the undefeated, dominant team
(24:37):
playing seemingly their best late in the season. As a bonus,
it's in out of nowhere Mega Cinderella, right, because you
know Cinderellas usually work their way in the playoffs, they
don't dominate throughout a season, and then again, because it's
the college football playoff, twelve teams, blah blah blah, having
the Hurricanes find themselves effectively late in the season to
(25:00):
make this run. To me, it doesn't matter who wins.
I think Indiana is the more interesting story. But I
think Miami can sell itself as a as a very
interesting story if they win. I think it's just a
good ending. And you've got the Heisman Trophy winner in there,
you've got a historically great program in there. And as
(25:21):
a bonus, they're playing on their home turf, which I
think is ridiculous to like make a big deal out
of because in every other every game seven you ever watch,
somebody's at home, right, So it's like, okay, game seven
of the NBA Finals at home, Yeah, you work for that.
This one just happens to be blind luck because it's
in your backyard.
Speaker 2 (25:40):
It's only a home field advantage because the game is
being played in South Florida.
Speaker 3 (25:43):
That's the reason it's a home game.
Speaker 2 (25:44):
It's gonna be an Indiana home game tonight, you think so.
Speaker 5 (25:46):
Yes, The least surprising thing I've seen is to park
on the stadium grounds right now on the resale market,
over five hundred dollars. I was reading an article. I
have somebody who is breaking all the finances of it down.
It is cheaper to get your car towed somewhere, then
it is to park at the stadium, and then hey,
(26:08):
my car is gonna get towed. We'll figure this out
in the morning after this game.
Speaker 3 (26:12):
Such a great idea. I've had my car Toad once,
had to go through all the trouble of going and
getting it and that's just the most miserable experience. But
if you're doing that knowing I just saved myself three
hundred and fifty dollars, you're like, oh, this is a
pleasant experience.
Speaker 2 (26:24):
Yes, But you wake up the next morning thinking it's
easy to find your car, and you can't find your car. Man,
it's tough. And then you're left without a car.
Speaker 3 (26:30):
Do they charge you by the day at a tow
place because they can hang out for a few days.
Speaker 2 (26:34):
I have no idea, Taylor, why is it five hundred dollars?
Speaker 3 (26:37):
Though?
Speaker 2 (26:37):
I don't understand this, Like people, you were telling me
this on Friday, that parking was seven hundred dollars.
Speaker 5 (26:43):
Yeah, I don't know why it's so expensive. It's just
the resale market. And apparently you're not allowed to park
at the stadium unless you have a ticket to the game,
because I was just assuming that, like Miami fans were
just buying tickets and being like, okay, well just tailgate there.
But apparently you need to show Everybody in the car
needs to show proof of a ticket to get into
the game, to even get into the stadium grounds.
Speaker 2 (27:05):
I was telling Izzy back of the Orange Bowl, I
paid three hundred and fifty dollars to park in someone's
driveway Miami, Florida state at the Jeremy Shocky game. Three
hundred and fifty bucks. I mean, they had me there
were no more parking spots. Man, I would have given
them five fifty. I'm serious.
Speaker 3 (27:18):
That's a family, it's got a nice little secondary income.
They're never Mikey, what are you laughing at?
Speaker 4 (27:24):
I did, I'm laughing at I'm laughing at the fact
you called it the Jeremy Shacki game. You had no
idea that was until we had bear on this morning,
and as you said, I did that. He goes, oh,
that was the Jeremy shocky game. Now, you made it
like it was something you remember the whole time, your fuddy,
it's just peak you.
Speaker 2 (27:40):
Yeah, let's go to Steve in San Francisco. Steve, you're
on Fox Sports Radio. Go ahead, Steven. All right, I've
been told they're getting them. Hold on, I love radio.
Speaker 5 (27:55):
I'm not sure that came across on air, and that
was just you responding.
Speaker 2 (27:58):
No, listen, guys back in La Okay, if you say
something into my head said, I am telling you right now,
it's going on air because I have to alert. I
have to tell the listeners what's going on. When I
go to Steve and San Francisco and Steven San Francisco
is not there. They said he's there. Now, Let's go
to Steve in San Francisco. Steve, go ahead, he's not
(28:21):
there now. Huh.
Speaker 3 (28:24):
Steve definitely our best caller so far.
Speaker 2 (28:27):
Oh god, this guy is seventeen to noo. He is unbelievable,
very admiralle try. I mean, this is like the Bears
eighty five defense playing defense against our offense. Now, I've
been told we lost Steve.
Speaker 3 (28:46):
You think I think we've lost him forever? Well, I
hope that we lose him. Forever. I do.
Speaker 2 (28:54):
I'm joking, Steve, kind of I'm not anyway, Thank you
Christmas for being seventeen. No, Mikey, do you miss radio?
Speaker 4 (29:05):
Of course I miss radio.
Speaker 3 (29:07):
Oh my god, it is so great.
Speaker 2 (29:09):
Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox. That is eight
seven seven ninety nine on Fox. Are you gonna be surprised?
Is he if Miami wins tonight? Because I'm not. This
is gonna be the best defense that Indiana plays the
entire season. The Caynes and I've been saying this for
a few weeks on Mad Dog Show I'm Mom with
them every Friday on Sirius XM. I've been saying that
(29:30):
the Canes defense, those two defensive ends Bain and Mesidor,
those are both first round picks in the NFL. Miami
is littered with first round picks. And I think because
Indiana has been so overwhelming, okay, that a lot of
people are gonna be surprised if Miami wins the game tonight.
I'm not, however, because I think the Keynes are that
(29:50):
I know what Indiana's good Signetti is a buttoned up coach.
His team's gonna be prepared.
Speaker 3 (29:54):
I get it.
Speaker 2 (29:55):
I can't believe I'm saying that about a guy who
was coaching at Elot like four or five years ago.
But here we are. I just find it like for me,
I don't think Indiani will blow them out, and I
actually think the Canes have a really good chance of
winning a national championship tonight, which would mean so much.
Speaker 3 (30:12):
The people down here buttoned up is one way to
describe you. Previously had Kurt Signetti on the Mount Rushmore
coaches after he made the national were the Bills, I'd
hire him. No, I wouldn't be shocked at off the
Hurricanes win. I think this game even I just mentioned
that it's very good for college football playoffs, just based
(30:33):
on the people the team's participating. But I think it's
going to be a great game. I think it's going
to be too. You're gonna see a couple of Juggernauts
going at it. I think a lot of people might
look at Indiana's again close wins against teams that maybe
weren't supposed to be on their level and say, this
team is vulnerable. But you've got a Miami team that's
(30:54):
basically figured out, Hey, eliminate the mistakes and our talent
can be overwhelming. It could be the running game, it
could be the defensive line, it could be Malachi Tony.
It's not gonna be Carson Beck. He's not going to
just take over the game for you. So you gotta
trust in those other areas. I do believe they have
the ability to do that. It might be less possessions
(31:17):
if they run the ball a lot more, which would
probably guarantee a closer game. The thing for me, though,
is if you are in a close game, who do
you trust more? And I think that's an easy answer.
It's Indiana. They've done it. They've I mean, you've had
the Penn State game where Mendoza had his Heisman moment,
winning that game and sending let's the announcer's name again,
(31:37):
Sean McDonough. No, for fox Man, I shouldn't have even
brought it up. But Tom Davis talking about a very loud,
enthusiastic doesn't feel so good. Johnson lose his advice right now,
so he's just had more moments. That coach is probably
(31:58):
better at coaching in close games than Mario Cristobal. So
I've got Indiana winning a very close, very good game.
Speaker 2 (32:06):
Great nuance, But Steve is back and he's in San Francisco.
Speaker 3 (32:08):
Go ahead, Steve Bella is a man. Right now, I
just want to take a dig Bill's mafia. It's called
Stefan Diggs.
Speaker 7 (32:16):
If they watched it yesterday Sunday in Fostboro.
Speaker 3 (32:19):
Right also to got another one.
Speaker 10 (32:21):
Here we super Bowl out here?
Speaker 1 (32:25):
The Super Bowl fifty was a complete.
Speaker 3 (32:27):
Dud out here?
Speaker 7 (32:27):
How about La New England?
Speaker 3 (32:30):
How was that? Is that good for the NFL? Yeah?
I think it is. How about Stidham and Sam Donald?
I mean, I mean last night New England teams. I
believe the final start was thirteen to three. Yes, I
know we're all trying to avoid it.
Speaker 2 (32:43):
You're right, Steve, everyone's trying to avoid Stidham and Sam Donald.
Except for Stidham. That's the problem. He wants to be there. God,
I can't believe the Patriots have turned into America's team
New England. Please save us from Jared Stidham in the
Super Bowl.
Speaker 3 (32:58):
Back after this.

Perhaps we'll see or whatever. Yep, the Canes in Indiana
playing for a national championship tonight. It's cold down here,
huh it is cold and South Florida.
Speaker 3 (33:53):
Yeah, it is fifties like the entire day. Yeah, ever
it happens.
Speaker 2 (33:56):
I put the heat on in my house and in
my car.
Speaker 3 (33:59):
How about that.
Speaker 2 (34:01):
You put the heat on for the first time in
your car or your house when you live down in
South Florida. You think your house is on fire.
Speaker 3 (34:06):
Smells. That's why I've just gotten to use the seat
warmers in my car. Yes, I'll stop them. My butts
on fire.
Speaker 2 (34:12):
Yeah, if you're Mike Tomlin today because that job becomes available,
are you calling the Rooney family and saying, hey, get
ready to get ready to give up, get ready to
get some compensation for me, I'm out of the Buffalough
Tomlin with Josh Allen would be I'd like to see it.
Speaker 3 (34:26):
To be honest with you, I'd like to see Mike
Tomlin take a year. I'd like to see him just relax,
not put so much press because you know, whenever he
comes back, he's gonna be just as good. Like I know.
This year, you've got your pick because there's a lot
of what was it ten total teams that moved on
from their head coach, which is a lot more than usual.
But there's gonna be more openings next year. There's gonna
be some surprises. It might even be one of these
(34:49):
teams that fire a coach after one year. It's happened before.
Speaker 2 (34:52):
There might be more openings this season, I mean this week.
I mean this is crazy.
Speaker 5 (34:58):
Remember when Mikey was like, Wow, this is weird. There's
only six six openings right now. Yes, it's gonna be
a quiet offseason.
Speaker 3 (35:05):
Yes.
Speaker 5 (35:05):
Since he said that, it's almost like when a doctor
is like, oh, quiet day to day and then all
of a sudden, ten people rush into the emergency room.
Ever since Mikey said that, Yes, I think eight coaches
have been fired.
Speaker 2 (35:16):
Yes, he blurted out seven per year. Like it was
like we've been waiting for him. He's been waiting for
us to ask him that question. Hey, Mikey, how many
coaches get fired every seven?
Speaker 3 (35:26):
Locked and loaded?
Speaker 4 (35:29):
We got ten?
Speaker 2 (35:30):
We got ten, and we might have more. I mean,
don't you think coaches. Don't you think coaches who currently
have a job are calling their agent that's saying, hey,
there's a better job.
Speaker 3 (35:41):
I can see that, of course, I mean the agent,
so the one's looking for the money, right, Yes, But Stu,
I know when you usually are on social media, you
just sort of retweet compliments and then just move on. Yep.
So before we move on from the show, did you
want to talk to Jared in Greensboro, who seems to
just want to give us compliments.
Speaker 2 (35:57):
Sure, let's go to Jared and Greensboreen. Jared, you're on
Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 10 (36:02):
Go ahead, But how great your lap caller was? But
I'll do my best. I just wanted to wish you guys,
you know, and the crew good luck on this new adventure.
You know, I obviously was a Levotard show listener for
a long time, and you know, I'm just really happy
to see you guys doing the no show and that
(36:22):
this cool thing about Greensboro is that the Kurt Signetti
coached at Elon, right, his successor is still here. And
you kind of got to feel bad for that guy, right,
you know, because you're the guy who's following the guy
and you're still an Elon and Kurt Signetes's in the
National Championship game.
Speaker 3 (36:36):
So enough notes.
Speaker 2 (36:38):
Yes, yes, but at the time he didn't know he
was following the guy. How could anyone know? He just
wanted a job.
Speaker 3 (36:45):
Well, thank you, Jared, appreciate that.
Speaker 2 (36:47):
Let's go to Tim and des Moineses if we have time.
Speaker 3 (36:50):
I can't listen.
Speaker 2 (36:50):
This is why I got back into sports radio to
talk to someone in Des Moines.
Speaker 3 (36:54):
Let's go.
Speaker 9 (36:55):
It's a ball me fourteen here, baby?
Speaker 3 (36:58):
Yeah? Nice?
Speaker 4 (36:59):
Yes, Okay, So let's just.
Speaker 9 (37:01):
Quick Josh Allen, this change the logo on his helmet,
and how would the talk have been the last nine
years if he was the Dallas Cowboys quarterback, he wouldn't
be America's sweetheart Woodie.
Speaker 2 (37:14):
Well, is he getting the same results in Dallas? As
he has with Buffalo.
Speaker 3 (37:19):
Yep, I think you know, it's just one of those
things where you sort of lose your shine. He would
have been beloved and then he'd right now be getting roasted, and.
Speaker 5 (37:29):
Then after his playing career was over, he would get
every talking job ever.
Speaker 3 (37:32):
You no question about it.
Speaker 2 (37:34):
I want to see him win a Super Bowl.
Speaker 6 (37:36):
Man.
Speaker 2 (37:36):
I love watching that guy play football, even when he
plays it recklessly.
Speaker 3 (37:40):
I mean I do. I kind of like watching him movies,
do you. I don't know. I haven't really pinpointed it yet,
but right I kind of do.
Speaker 2 (37:49):
Why you like seeing a man, like a grown man
cry in front.
Speaker 3 (37:52):
Of him pob because I'm a Dolphins man.
Speaker 2 (37:54):
I mean, Josh is very emotional.
Speaker 3 (37:56):
He is.
Speaker 2 (37:56):
You want to know why he's emotional because he knows,
like he knows, he's a generational talent and probably should
have two or three rings that he doesn't have. What
he's embarrassed by it and he should be
