Speaker 1 (00:20):
Phil Sim's going to join us at four o'clock. Phil
Martelli Junior is back, the head coach at VCU who
also wants to be a sports radio host. He will
join us with Rod Brenda Moore, the head coach of
the Carolina Hurricanes. They take on the Flyers. Martelli loves
the Flyers. He also loves Rod Brendamore. So this is
(00:41):
going to be fun. But is he Yeah? I was
given the choice today at three twenty five to have
on either Jalen Brunson or a person that Taylor and
mikey A introduced to me yesterday. His name is Hogdale,
(01:02):
and I chose Hogdale.
Speaker 3 (01:05):
Wait a second, what we had an option?
Speaker 4 (01:07):
Well, first of all, should I feel weird Taylor that
he's seemingly auditioning people to film.
Speaker 5 (01:11):
My seat Hogdale Hogg film?
Speaker 6 (01:15):
Oh, he's got a job, He's a coach.
Speaker 4 (01:18):
I mean he seems to have plenty of spared time
to just hang out with us.
Speaker 7 (01:22):
It is odd.
Speaker 1 (01:22):
I told him it's for a coach. He has way
too much time on his Yes, I did say that
to him. I actually texted that to him.
Speaker 4 (01:27):
Yes, but yeah, no, I don't think we had a
chance to get Jalen Brunson. Yes, and you're saying that
Taylor didn't stop everything and say yes, we're getting Jalen Brunson.
Speaker 1 (01:36):
He gave me the option. He said, Hogdale's available at
three twenty five. Jalen Brunton available three twenty five, and
I chose Hogdale.
Speaker 7 (01:42):
How about that.
Speaker 8 (01:43):
Listen, when you get a chance to get Hogdale on,
you get hogdeal. I don't know what else to tell you.
Speaker 1 (01:47):
Yes, Taylor turned them on to me yesterday. He calls
Red Sox games on Twitch. He shouldn't be doing that,
but this is the reason we're having him on.
Speaker 3 (01:54):
Well, this one man Taylor pitch.
Speaker 7 (01:55):
For fer Fisher. My apologies.
Speaker 9 (01:57):
This is his hit right out the shortstop doll. It's
a second and it's a double play. It's a double play. Boys,
whoa Red Socks Baseball?
Speaker 7 (02:10):
Radshock Baseball? I load this team.
Speaker 3 (02:15):
I load watching them.
Speaker 7 (02:17):
I can't stand watching the scene.
Speaker 8 (02:20):
Dude, Holy do they shuck.
Speaker 4 (02:24):
I'm sorry for interrupting the beginning of that, but I
was shocked because Jalen Brunton is somebody that Taylor said
has changed his life, yes, but instead Hogdale.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
Well, Hogdale has changed my life, and so and it's
my show, and so he gave me the option, and
I chose Hogdale. And thank you for apologizing and saying that.
You see you were speaking over that sound because I
was so nervous that no one called for it.
Speaker 7 (02:46):
No I called for it. I was saying, you were
not the d boy there is?
Speaker 1 (02:49):
He so far the front runner for Defensive Player of
the Year today, Defensive Player of.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
The Year today.
Speaker 1 (02:56):
Yes, so Hogdale going to join us at three twenty
five night in the NBA. Thank you to the Knicks
for allowing me to go to bed early. Therefore I
missed the Timberwolves and the Nuggets. The t Wolves beat
the Nuggets, they advanced. Nuggets are out. I isy, that's
a shock, considering that Joe Gitches on that team and
Anthony Edwards was not playing for the Timberwolves.
Speaker 4 (03:15):
Neither was Dante Dante DiVincenzo, neither was Io Desumo, Desumu.
It was a lot of very confusing stuff going on
in this series. I'll say this about the Knicks Hawks game.
I was watching Philly and Orlando, I'm sorry, Philly and Boston,
and i'd gotten into that game a little late in
the second quarter, and then I looked up in the
top right corner and I saw the Knicks Hawks game,
(03:38):
and I was just a score and I just said, well,
thank you, thank you for not making me have to
watch a second of any of that.
Speaker 3 (03:45):
I'm sure Taylor loved every second.
Speaker 8 (03:46):
Yes, oh yes, I watched it three times this morning.
Speaker 7 (03:50):
All right.
Speaker 1 (03:51):
In fact, I will tell you this, Taylor thinks that
you saw John Starks there and Patrick Ewing, and he
thinks those guys could have played in the second half
and they still would have won the game.
Speaker 8 (04:01):
Is it was Clyde Frazier, John Starks, Patrick Ewing, Alan Houston.
You pair those four with any person on the Knicks bench.
I think the Knicks still win that game.
Speaker 7 (04:13):
I was trying to wait, Hawks win the half. I mean, it.
Speaker 4 (04:16):
Doesn't matter, it doesn't matter, like I don't even think
they get within ten, right, Okay, but they probably win
the half. But I was saying to myself, like, how
you know, I don't know, bold do you have to be?
Like when do you take your starters out for good?
And I'm thinking, I don't even bring them out for
the second half. I'll just put the starters on on on,
you know, maybe some heat or whatever, and say, hey,
(04:37):
if if we need you late in the fourth quarter,
stay warm.
Speaker 3 (04:39):
But we're gonna play the second half with the scrubs.
Speaker 8 (04:41):
So I have two stats that I think personally are
unbelievable from this game. The first one comes from Chris
Persian on Twitter. The Knicks made it to the Eastern
Conference Final last year they played eighteen playoff games. Karl
Anthony Towns had more assists in six games versus the
Hawks than he did in eight teen games versus the Pistons, Celtics,
(05:02):
and Pacers.
Speaker 4 (05:03):
Last Teme Magic Towns over there, Yeah, that guy is
the next coming.
Speaker 8 (05:07):
Then the other stat I have, and then you guys
could tell me which one you think is more impressive.
This one comes from Matty Mass on Twitter. Jalen Brunson,
Josh Hart, and mckel Bridges own the record for largest
Final four win ever plus forty four against Oklahoma and
they also hold the record for the largest NBA playoff
halftime lead ever plus forty seven against the Atlanta Hawks.
(05:30):
Now here's the interesting part. Yeah, Buddy Healed was on
the losing end of both those games.
Speaker 7 (05:37):
Buddy hils a Hawk.
Speaker 3 (05:38):
I mean he was a Sooner too.
Speaker 4 (05:41):
Wow, But thank you for to the Knicks for not
making me watch a second of that.
Speaker 1 (05:46):
Yes, and now we have a game seven in Philadelphia,
two annoying fan bases, Philadelphia and Boston playing for the
right to face another annoying fan base, the Knicks.
Speaker 7 (05:54):
This is going to be exciting.
Speaker 1 (05:55):
Philly looks like a different team when you get when
it's Paul George, Joel Embiid, you Bray, Max and edgeco.
Speaker 7 (06:01):
That's a different team.
Speaker 4 (06:01):
It does, and well, specifically when Paul George is playing
this well, because it feels like he's an absolute luxury
on this team.
Speaker 7 (06:08):
Right.
Speaker 4 (06:08):
You need it from Embiid, you need it from MAXI.
You can get good games from VJ, but he's also
a rookie, so you can't expect it, but you can
get them with Paul. You don't know, or haven't really
known all year long, what to expect. Yes, toward the end,
of the season into the playoffs, he's looking like his
old self. You know, maybe he found a way to
not test positive for a ped and it's still doing well.
(06:30):
But yeah, I think he is the big difference maker
I think in this series because if you line him
up with Jalen Brown and say, hey, at their peak,
who's the best player, I think most people will say
Paul George, Jason Tatum and Paul George. I think it's
you know, it's a coin toss. I would say. So
if he is playing anything like his best self and
you still got embiid in Maxie, I mean.
Speaker 3 (06:51):
That's a pretty scary proposition. Yep.
Speaker 1 (06:53):
But the big news is Denver is out. They lost,
Joke is out. He played well. They got contributions from
camp Johnson. It was Jamal Murray was the problem last night.
Speaker 4 (07:02):
He was last night, he was throughout the series. He
didn't have a single game where he shot even fifty
percent from the field, and he had three thirty point
games in there. Two of those thirty well, two of
the three thirty point games they actually won. But I'm sorry,
excuse me, take that back.
Speaker 3 (07:16):
Two of the three thirty point games they lost.
Speaker 4 (07:18):
So how effective is he really if he's scoring a
lot and not doing it efficiently. But I think there's
gonna be some Jamal Murray questions. But I think obviously
the first first person you look at is Nikole Jokic,
and it's not just Okay, he put up some numbers,
but this is a guy who stu if I told
you in that championship run that he had that he
beat four teams that had won I think forty six
(07:39):
or less.
Speaker 3 (07:39):
Games. Yeah, he did.
Speaker 4 (07:40):
He has and yet has yet in his career to
beat a fifty win team in the playoffs. And this
was a Minnesota team that was playing again without Anthony
Edwards toward the end of the series, without Dante DiVincenzo,
And it just makes you wonder, right, have we been
sort of over glazing Nikole Jokis if you will, because
his numbers are so fantastic, But when you actually look
(08:03):
at what he's done in the postseason, in the playoffs
for his team or his team as a whole, is
he really elevating them the way a guy that you
say has won three MVPs and could be and has
been labeled for the last five years six years, the
best player in the league not by me, but by
by many others.
Speaker 7 (08:21):
I've never so it's it's interesting.
Speaker 1 (08:23):
So now you're talking about legacy stuff, you're talking about
his career as a whole. I didn't have expectations for
Nicola Jokitch, and I think expectations there are a big
part of it. I had expectations for Michael Jordan. I
had expectations for Lebron.
Speaker 4 (08:38):
Even after the MVPs. You still don't elevate those expectations.
Speaker 1 (08:41):
No, And so if you told me before he got started,
like before his first game in the NBA, he would
have three MVPs and he would have one NBA championship, yeah,
I tell you, he exceeded my expectations.
Speaker 5 (08:52):
You know.
Speaker 3 (08:52):
That's so funny.
Speaker 4 (08:53):
So you never adjust those right basically, so like it
has to the person has to come in with those expectations. Like,
for example, if it was Zion Williamson Ye who came
in number one pick, we all knew him from Duke. Obviously,
if he at this point or at whatever, nine years
into his career has won three MVPs and just one
title and basically the same resume as Joker, not beating
(09:16):
a fifty win team, would you call him disappointing.
Speaker 1 (09:20):
Uh geez, nine years, one title, three MVPs. He's healthy,
he wins three MVP's. Yeah, I would say he should
win more than one title, yes, right, But I had expectations,
lofty expectations like everyone else for Zion Williamson when he
came into the mv.
Speaker 4 (09:33):
That's crazy interesting because we chatted about this for a second,
that really in depth, right before we got on the air,
And when you said that or sort of a mentioned that,
I was like, huh, I didn't think that that was permanent, right,
Like I didn't think you just despite like Gianna Santetokoupo,
for example.
Speaker 3 (09:46):
He was not a lottery pick. He was not a
known person.
Speaker 4 (09:49):
He comes out dominates with that body type, and you know,
wins an MVP, wins a championship. We're all thinking he
needs to win more.
Speaker 1 (09:55):
Right, Yes, And I'm not saying the expectations don't shift
slightly as the career goes on. But then you enter
in other players like SGA and other teams like Oklahoma City,
and I just feel, like jok, it's disappointing losing in
the first round to a team that doesn't have their
best player.
Speaker 7 (10:12):
It's disappointing.
Speaker 1 (10:13):
You expect more from Jokis, but I was not expecting
them to win an NBA title this year.
Speaker 4 (10:18):
Yeah, I wasn't expecting them to go out in the
first round though, to a team that was falling apart
health wise in Minnesota. And so to me, I think
I think it's fair to say what you're saying. I
don't think that that's actually you having perspective, which is a.
Speaker 7 (10:32):
I'm not calling him a bust.
Speaker 1 (10:33):
I'm not saying right, I'm not doing any of that
because listen, Jokes has exceeded every expectation I've ever had
for him, Jamal Murray bust.
Speaker 4 (10:40):
But starting next year, after this first round exit, yeah,
nothing changes for you. Like if he can go out
in the first round every single year from now on
and just be like, hey, he did what he did
and that was all I expected from him.
Speaker 7 (10:53):
Yeah, he's done enough.
Speaker 4 (10:54):
Interesting because for most people, most sports fans, I think,
and I want to get Taylor's take on this, most
sports fans think he has been since the winning the
championship three years ago, slightly disappointing and we're all wondering, hey,
can't you do more with this MVP level?
Speaker 3 (11:08):
Play.
Speaker 1 (11:08):
There's also a style of play thing for me with him,
like there is with Sga.
Speaker 7 (11:12):
He can't jump off the floor, he could barely dunk.
Speaker 1 (11:15):
I mean he makes great passes, great the game looks
ugly when the ball's not going in, it's ugly, or
when it goes in, it's ugly. And so I don't
want Jokich advancing to the NBA Finals. I don't want
to watch him anymore. I'm tired of him.
Speaker 8 (11:25):
I think Jokic's personality too, is part of it, where
he almost seems bored when he's at these press conferences.
Where if you told me today, like if Shaum's came
out today and said sources are telling me Yokic is
happy that the Nuggets are eliminated so he could go
back home, I would believe it, right, I would believe that.
Speaker 7 (11:45):
Which one makes him happier.
Speaker 1 (11:46):
I'm totally with you on that he gets to go
home for the summer, or he advances in the NBA playoffs.
Speaker 7 (11:50):
I think he's actually miserable if the advanceage, so is he.
Speaker 8 (11:52):
I think there is something too that where it doesn't
seem like Jokic has these expectations for him. So the
fans might not be putting the expectations for him, And
I think the flip side of that, who my biggest
winner is this series Jaden McDaniel. Oh yes, Oh, Because
Jaden McDaniels came in was talking all this crap. They
asked him yesterday like were you trying to get under
(12:13):
their skin or do you just not care? He was like,
I just don't care. I just don't care. And then
he backs it up with thirty two points and sends
that team home.
Speaker 4 (12:22):
Thirty two points without everybody else. And then they have
like Terrence Shannon Junior just showing up out of nowhere
looking like an athletic freak that can just give you
twenty four points at any time. And it's like, what
is going on with these Timberwolves? Is it them or
is it the Nuggets?
Speaker 7 (12:34):
That will happen at home? Though?
Speaker 1 (12:35):
For players like him, right, if it's gonna happen, it's
gonna happen at home, right, sure, where they're more comfortable. Right, Yeah,
You're not gonna see that guy do that on the
road too often.
Speaker 3 (12:43):
I mean maybe not. I've never seen him before, right,
I did.
Speaker 8 (12:47):
My word association with Tarren Shannon Junior he played at
Illinois and they retired his jersey. And when they when
they pulled the curtain off the banner, the jersey going
up in the rafters was upside down.
Speaker 7 (13:01):
Heah, but at least it wasn't next to a bathroom and.
Speaker 2 (13:04):
A bar.
Speaker 3 (13:06):
Right side up though.
Speaker 2 (13:09):

Speaker 1 (13:49):

Speaker 7 (13:53):

Speaker 1 (13:54):

at around four twenty five, the head coach of the
Carolina hurtnes We'll ask Phil Martelly Jr.
Speaker 7 (14:01):
To stick around for that. All right, that will be fun.
Speaker 1 (14:04):
But it's Kentucky Derby time. It is the triple Crown,
it has arrived. Is he into the horses?
Speaker 3 (14:10):
No, but that's a stupid question, ridiculous question.
Speaker 7 (14:13):
It is Telly into the horses?
Speaker 1 (14:15):
Yes, no, no, no, no, bord out Ricardo, You into
anything but baseball?
Speaker 3 (14:19):
No, no, okay, like horses and just don't care about racing.
Speaker 1 (14:23):

to play what I maintain is the greatest.
Speaker 7 (14:29):
Call of a horse race of all time. Iowa Sam,
play it.
Speaker 5 (14:35):

now ninth. Hack and the trailer is on a reading
into the fire turn hep cat and Feline fellon hepcat,
hap Cat up for the lead, half Cat in front,
Feeline fell in second. Here's Stan Pat now charging third
on the outside. Maps Hope is now fourth, five Demon
(15:18):
Bag fifth towards the inside, and then it is a
spiderbrock followed by Art on the outside coming to the
top of the stretch. Half cat the leader, half Cat
in front. But here's stand Pat stand Pat up the
challenge for that lead. As they field turns for home,
maps Wish on the outside runs in third, then down
toward the inside.
Speaker 3 (15:38):
It's fee Line fell and fourth. In the middle of
the track is a coming down to the final sixteenth.
Speaker 5 (15:47):

Speaker 7 (16:05):

Speaker 7 (16:45):

Speaker 10 (16:46):
They were led by one of the best nicknames in sports,
the Wall of Saint Paul. Just for Walstead and uh tremendous.
Speaker 3 (16:55):

named their kid after something golf related.
Speaker 7 (17:44):

do to end the week every single week.
Speaker 7 (20:08):
Oh, we have music for it. This is fantastic. Actually
got seven ninety on X Taylor Take It Away?
Speaker 8 (20:14):
Is Lebron James up three to one this series against
Father Time?
Speaker 3 (20:20):
That poll looked a lot different a few days ago.
Speaker 1 (20:22):
What you heard was a lot of phlegm just come
up from my lungs because I was laughing so hard.
Speaker 7 (20:27):
Yes, father time has made a big comeback.
Speaker 8 (20:30):
The audience voted eighty seven percent saying yes, all right,
Reggie Miller did. Get out of here?
Speaker 7 (20:38):
Yep, yes, get out of here. Yeah?
Speaker 5 (20:41):
Leave.
Speaker 8 (20:42):
I hate Reggie Miller so much.
Speaker 7 (20:43):
I hate a strong word, I hate all right.
Speaker 8 (20:46):
I don't hate CJ. McCallum anymore, though, Right you like
him again?
Speaker 5 (20:49):
Now?
Speaker 8 (20:50):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (20:50):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (20:50):
And the play by play guy from the Hawks, Steve Hollman,
He's got an entire summer to walk his dog.
Speaker 8 (20:58):
Seventy four percent of the audience said, yeah, skeet Reggie
Miller the heck out of here?
Speaker 7 (21:02):
All right? Good?
Speaker 8 (21:04):
Has Dan Orlovsky been walking around with a peppinist step
ever since Ty Simpson went thirteen?
Speaker 1 (21:11):
This is Taylor's take. It's a big one for Taylor.
Here I said it, but Taylor fed it to me.
Speaker 8 (21:15):
So this is a big one for me, I know.
Ninety six percent of the audience said yes, they've noticed
the peppin his step.
Speaker 7 (21:23):
It's hard not to notice.
Speaker 3 (21:24):
Yep, it's a big number.
Speaker 8 (21:27):
This one comes from our softball game.
Speaker 2 (21:29):
Is he?
Speaker 7 (21:30):
Whoa boy? What's the next game?
Speaker 3 (21:31):
By the way, Monday?
Speaker 8 (21:32):
Maybe I would assume Monday but there's always the rain outs.
There's always a chance it's our bye week.
Speaker 7 (21:37):
Well, for Izzy, as long as there's enough players, he
won't be there.
Speaker 8 (21:42):
Does somebody named Big Rob have to play first base
in a softball game?
Speaker 3 (21:46):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (21:48):
I don't know if it has to be Rob, but
it needs to be big, something perfect, the perfect combination syllables.
Speaker 4 (21:54):
It's very easy, and you just there's something about a rob.
If it's got a big in front of you just
kind of know exactly what he looks like.
Speaker 3 (21:58):
Yeah, Robin, big Mike both playing on the same team.
Who's at first?
Speaker 4 (22:03):
I think Big Rob Big Mike has different options. Big
Mike can be a big Burley guy.
Speaker 3 (22:08):
Yeah, yeah, I.
Speaker 7 (22:09):
Think I'm with them. I think Big Rob is. I
don't know, it makes make sense.
Speaker 3 (22:12):
It just might be tall I catch.
Speaker 7 (22:15):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (22:16):
Ninety percent of the audience said, yes, he has to
play first base. Is it easy to kill an hour
and the Barnes and Noble?
Speaker 3 (22:23):
What year?
Speaker 7 (22:24):
I shouldn't even be a quest.
Speaker 1 (22:26):
So me and Taylor both like a good stroll around
the Barnes and Nobles, preferably one with the Starbucks with
those rice Prisby treats.
Speaker 7 (22:32):
I love it.
Speaker 1 (22:33):
I could spend an hour in there, easily easily reading
Lindy's sports fantasy magazines.
Speaker 8 (22:38):
Yes, eighty two percent of the audience said, yes, it
is easy to kill an hour there.
Speaker 4 (22:41):
See Stive Gott will be in there for five minutes
and be like, has it been an hour?
Speaker 3 (22:44):
I'm tired.
Speaker 8 (22:46):
This one is a massive one for me. Do you
wish Shirley Temple's were more socially acceptable?
Speaker 1 (22:55):
I'm just laughing because Izzie is so long to me,
I'm such a fraud. I mean, Barnes and Nobles for
an hour, Get the hell out of here.
Speaker 7 (23:02):
What was the question again?
Speaker 8 (23:03):
I'm sorry, Dale, Do you wish Shirley Temples were more
socially acceptable?
Speaker 4 (23:08):
We already know if Rod Brindemore voted that at least
one note yes, Simms as well.
Speaker 7 (23:13):
Yeah, yeah, of course that was obvious. That's why I
asked those two. Taylor went to an open bar the wedding.
Alcohol is free. He ordered a Shirley Temple and he
was judged.
Speaker 1 (23:24):
And now he's being hailed as some sort of king
in the Shirley Temple community because everyone agrees with them.
Speaker 7 (23:30):
I agree with him.
Speaker 3 (23:31):
Those things are delicious thing of the temple they're good.
Speaker 8 (23:34):
Sixty three percent of the audience said yes, they wish
they were more socially acceptable.
Speaker 3 (23:39):
Never more disappointed in our audience.
Speaker 8 (23:42):
I told you the people are behind me on this one.
Speaker 3 (23:44):
Yeah, you are mocking it.
Speaker 7 (23:45):
You're their king.
Speaker 5 (23:46):
Yes.
Speaker 8 (23:46):
Two more pole questions, should pop a roach and Beyonce
ever be on the same playlist?
Speaker 1 (23:53):
That the only reason we talked about dianaiver City was
to get to the playlist for Taylor.
Speaker 7 (23:57):
That was an observation from Israel Gutierres.
Speaker 8 (24:01):
This one is a bit disappointing because only sixty one
percent of the audience said.
Speaker 4 (24:06):
No, really, wow, huh, no musical taste whatsoever?
Speaker 3 (24:11):
Put my life into peace?
Speaker 7 (24:12):
I mean I voted yes, I'm sorry.
Speaker 8 (24:14):
This is a This is a massive one for everybody
from her think about it Thursday? To make it colder?
Do you turn the AC up or do you turn
the AC down?
Speaker 7 (24:24):
You know what I've been thinking about this ever happened?
Speaker 3 (24:26):
Really?
Speaker 4 (24:27):
Have you changed your stance? No, because Taylor and I
were turned the AC down. Because you're turning the temperature down,
You're not actually cranking up any sort of air any harder.
It's the same level of air being pushed out of
the events. It's just for a longer period of time
until the total temperature can drop.
Speaker 8 (24:44):
Fifty nine percent of the audience voted turn it down.
Turn it down for what?
Speaker 7 (24:50):
Yeah, but just fifty nine percent.
Speaker 3 (24:52):
That's big, it's enough majority.
Speaker 1 (24:54):
I mean, you're asking me if I've changed my opinion
on this, and I would answer that if I knew
what my original p you won't Stimm
