I mean, I haven't seen a cloud in weeks. How
about you don't say that? Don't all baseball player? So hey,
that's that's the that's the announcer's jink. This is your
this is your second American Century Championship. So I am
wondering here because you're the best dressed guy here. I mean,

the gear keeps getting better with each passing day. But
would you learn the first time around that you have
taken into your second trip here to Lake Tahoe.
Speaker 3 (00:47):
You know, what is my first time playing tournament golf.
So coming out here and having it keeps everybody scores
and and and count strokes and all that. Usually you
just count your own strokes and play some buddies. But
that's that was the biggest thing, like actually sitting at
the scaring table at the end and going through all
everybody's scores and having to keep up, Like you're like, oh,
I'm three pretty holes behind.

How'd you get into golf?
Speaker 5 (01:10):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (01:10):
Just everybody else was playing, and my dad played when
I was growing up, and I thought it was too boring.
Speaker 6 (01:15):
I was like, but I wish I would have started then.
Speaker 3 (01:17):
I started probably eight years ago, seriously taking it right,
and yeah, the games.
Speaker 6 (01:23):
I love the game. I'm addicted.
Speaker 1 (01:25):
I mean, I saw you hitting on the range a
couple of minutes ago. I got to tell you. Me
and Taylor here we're thinking about putting a flyer on
your dexter f.

I don't know if I could win, you know, I'm
just I'm gonna try to go in there and put on.

and all them. But I've been playing, and so Smolty
has the Pro Tour right, so I've been playing in
that and that's kind of kind of got me ready
playing tournament golf.

question to you, do you think I could pull off
that out?

I feel like you could pull off anything if you
feel like you can wear it right, even me, look

I love soccer and I saw that you are a
minority stake owner in AFC Bourne. Myuth, what made you
want to invest there?

My neighbor, My neighbor's Bill Foley is one of my
business mentors. He lives like right next door to me.
So we'll go and we'll talk. We'll talk business and sports,
the whole nine leadership.

And he came to me and said, hey, I want
you and Michael B.

Jordan to be a part of Bournemouth and he said,
we're getting it at this time for this and he
gave me all the numbers. I said, it feels like
everything Bill touch just turns to gold the Golden Nights,
no pun intended. You know his businesses, everyone businesses he
started has been successful. So when Bill says to do something,
you basically do it.

And my friend Jimmy Arvola is the is the president.

been into business for a while now. Told me that
when you got drafted, uh but you know into the
major leagues, that you also took down a second job.

So when I got drafted, I I was a cart
tender at a real of course, didn't know how to play.

So you were driving around like serving drinks and I.

I was cleaning carts and I didn't have to do
it right, but it's amazing.

I had to get out the house, all my friends,
all my friends were in college. I'm sitting here and
I'm like, what what do I do with my time?
I go work out and I just sit at the
house and be like where I go?

Ended up getting a job, But I've always been my dad.
You know.
Speaker 3 (04:05):
My dad used to ask me, what do you want
to do when you grow up? I said, I want
to be a businessman, right, That's what I used to
tell him.

Yes, yes, so baseball player first and then and then businessman.
Speaker 3 (04:13):
Yeah, obviously I love the game. The game was the game,
but I had fun doing it. Then I was like,
all right, it's time to it's time to go.

What's the most valuable business lesson you've learned along the way?
Speaker 4 (04:22):
Here?

Most valuable business lesson is if you're going to do it,
believe in it.

You go out every day and it's like, you want
to believe in the product that you're that you're that
you're pushing, or or the company that you're with.

Last one I offer you, the atmosphere in European soccer
is better than anything American sports test to offer. Fair

here trying to get the lay of the land. I said,
I'm gonna go out and go low tomorrow and I
four plady like sixth day was to horrible, and I said,
I said, you know tonight, I'm on full sending so
full with cows.

Yeah, and I came out here and shot a seventy six.

I probably I probably was a little still a little inebriated.

his twenty twenty four to one carries even more weight
because it was like, can he do it with fans
in attendance? Marty Fish answered that question emphatically.

So you will laugh at this when he won the
first one with no fans here. We came back the
next year and Marty was the first guest we had on.
So you know of me and Marty's friendship, you know
it's real and no insults, of the language of intimacy
amongst friends. And he sat down and the first thing
I said to him is do it when the fans
are here.

Well, he got really mad at me. He didn't talk
to me like the rest of the week. He was
very upset. But you're right, yeah, well he did it though,
now he'll do it again.

Listen, he is by far the best golfer here. I'm
just telling you, like someone else might win the tournament.
But when Jack Nicholas says that he is the best
non PGA Tour player I've ever played a round of

we'll see if he can pull it off again this weekend.

it throws things off.

And so it's just going to be interesting to see
how the Patriots respond to all of this. But when
you consider the other teams in that division, the Jets,
the Dolphins, it's hard not seeing them make it.

You know what I'm saying, Well, the Bills are there too,
So could there be one team from that division that
makes it to the playoffs because they win the AFC East. Yeah,
I could see that happening with Buffalo. Is it unlikely
the Patriots will miss the playoffs? Yes, But you're saying
once they get there, get all the way to the
super Bowl, and I'm saying no, so I'm going to
say studots.

Yeah, so they add Aj Brown, So on paper, that
should be an upgrade over Stefan Diggs.

But when you're a team like the Patriots, who were
pretty fortunate last year in terms of schedule, yeah, it
felt like a paper tiger schedule. And then maybe that
fact kind of got exposed when you play the Seahawks
in the super Bowl. Now they're getting the first play schedule,
so it's gonna be a lot tougher for them. I
do think they make the playoffs, but I do think

you're right that it's more likely that they missed the
playoffs then make it back to the super Bowl because
you're your one quarterback injury away, yes, from your season
being tanked.

But you're also have that quarterback. So it really depends
on the quarterback. If he develops the way a lot
of people think he's going to develop, meaning if he
takes a next step and he gets even better than
he was last year, that.

Could overcome a lot.

Like a lot of the stuff I was talking about
locker room Vrabel, all that goes by the wayside when
your quarterback turns out to be great.

I'm three pretty holes behind.

My dad used to ask me, what do you want

there's a little asterisk next. So that's why for me,
his twenty twenty four to one carries even more weight
because it was like, can he do it with fans
in attendance? Marty Fish answered that question emphatically.

So you will laugh at this when he won the
first one with no fans here. We came back the
next year and Marty was the first guest we had on.
So you know of me and Marty's friendship, you know
it's real and no insults, of the language of intimacy

about it, but I just think the whole Vrabel thing
it throws things off.

If God forbid a player did that, he might cut them.
And so it's just going to be interesting to see
how the Patriots respond to all of this. But when
you consider the other teams in that division, the Jets,
the Dolphins, it's hard not seeing them make it.

To the playoffs.

You know what I'm saying, Well, the Bills are there too,
So could there be one team from that division that
makes it to the playoffs because they win the AFC East. Yeah,
I could see that happening with Buffalo. Is it unlikely
the Patriots will miss the playoffs? Yes, But you're saying
once they get there, get all the way to the
super Bowl, and I'm saying no, so I'm going to
say studots.

Yeah, so they add Aj Brown, So on paper, that
should be an upgrade over Stefan Diggs.
Speaker 4 (16:43):
Yep.

But when you're a team like the Patriots, who were
pretty fortunate last year in terms of schedule, yeah, it
felt like a paper tiger schedule. And then maybe that
fact kind of got exposed when you play the Seahawks
in the super Bowl. Now they're getting the first play schedule,
so it's gonna be a lot tougher for them. I
do think they make the playoffs, but I do think

you're right that it's more likely that they missed the
playoffs then make it back to the super Bowl because
you're your one quarterback injury away, yes, from your season
being tanked.
Speaker 1 (17:14):
But you're also have that quarterback. So it really depends
on the quarterback. If he develops the way a lot
of people think he's going to develop, meaning if he
takes a next step and he gets even better than
he was last year, that.
Speaker 4 (17:24):
Could overcome a lot.

Like a lot of the stuff I was talking about
locker room Vrabel, all that goes by the wayside when
your quarterback turns out to be great.
