Speaker 1 (00:00):
Be sure to catch live editions of Stu gottson Company
Live weekday said three pm Eastern, twelve pm Pacific on
Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
We have a lot to get to today. We have
some of the greatest press conference sound in the history
of press conferences. Bellinger is back with the Yankees. It's
a big day for Taylor and Mike y Ye. The
coaching carousel continues to uh move round around Izzy. But
(00:32):
I was actually thinking about this last night because rarely
does a radio show get thrown We haven't said hello
to the audience. They have no idea who we are.
We haven't introduced ourselves, and there has to be so
many people out there that are very confused.
Speaker 3 (00:47):
It's a lot of people just piecing things together. It's like, hey,
I know two or three of those voices.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
Yes, But rarely does a radio show get thrown on
the air in over two hundred and twenty market across
the country on the Monday after the divisional round of
the NFL Playoffs, the day of the college football National Championship,
and right in the middle of the craziest coaching carousel
(01:12):
we've ever seen. So I figured today on a Wednesday,
maybe take a break here, take a deep breath. News
that seemed to slow down, and perhaps just introduce ourselves
to the audience to tell them who we are.
Speaker 4 (01:24):
You sure we don't have Bear on the line.
Speaker 2 (01:26):
There's no Bear. I've cleared all the guests out. I
told listen. I told the Giants general manager Joe Shane
not today, what a great guess they would have been today?
And he said why, And I said, eight seven seven
ninety nine on Fox. That's why, eight seven seven ninety
nine on Fox. I need to take some phone calls.
I need to get to know my audience. They need
(01:46):
to need to get to know us. That's what I
told Joe shape. So tomorrow for the Giants general manager.
Speaker 4 (01:52):
I hope hopefully he doesn't sound nervous.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
Well, hopefully, I still don't want to take phone calls.
He was very nervous.
Speaker 5 (01:57):
And just to be clear, we're not getting to Cody Bellinger.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
I know.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
Oh, oh Jesus you and Bellinger, jeez, save it for
the podcast.
Speaker 4 (02:04):
Oh my god.
Speaker 2 (02:05):
So we're a group here. We're based out of South Florida.
We're probably twenty minutes if you know South Florida at all.
We are doing the show from the iHeart Studios here
in Pembroke Pines, which is about twenty minutes west of
Fort Lauderdale, if we know the area at all. Yes,
the best I could do. We've been doing this show
(02:27):
as a podcast since what has it been, Taylor since June?
Basically June first? All right, since June first. Taylor's keep
a track because he wants to get paid. You know,
Mikey is shaking his head in agreement invoices. We've gotten
better at that though. Yeah, we're baby steps, okay, But
(02:48):
Mikey A is someone I've worked with for a long time.
I've known him since my day's at ESPN. He and
I are really good friends, in large part because we're
the same age. But Mikey A Is is someone and
it's hard to explain we're not the same age, but
Mikey A and I are such great friends that I
(03:11):
thought at one point we were the same age.
Speaker 6 (03:16):
Air terrible, he said it on air. He's about twenty
years older than me.
Speaker 2 (03:20):
Yes, yikes, But in this industry it's funny because Mikey
A has become someone that I trust and seeing his
face and knowing his knowledge of radio and how to
do all of this gives me, Uh, it just gives me.
It relaxes me on a daily basis. When I see
mikey I am happy. I am made to be happy.
Speaker 4 (03:40):
When I try to go to bed every night, I
think of mikey A as well.
Speaker 6 (03:44):
I am your proverbial gummy.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
Yes, we are both Jeff fans, unfortunately, but mikey Aa
is someone who's been doing this for a long time,
who has been with me for a long time, and
who was someone who was very good at his job.
And he makes me happy, and he makes me relaxed,
and he makes me comfortable. Israel is someone that I
have known for quite some time. In fact, I would
(04:07):
say between mikey A Israel and Taylor, Israel is the
person I've known the longest. He is the person I
know the best. And Izzy has recently become a great friend.
We were always friends, but he has become a great friend.
And I will get back to Izzie in just a second.
Taylor is crazy. So Taylor was working with me at
(04:31):
Metal Arc Media the Dane Lebotard Show with Stu Gotz
and Taylor's great Taylor came up to me one day
he said, Hey, let me take something off your plate.
All right, the Weekken Observations. At the time, it was
the Weekend Observations. Go ahead, Taylor, He's good.
Speaker 5 (04:47):
That is not how it happened. The slightest. What happened
is I walked by him and said, hey, this would
be a good observation. And then one became three, became seven,
and then he just said, hey, buddy, you want to
just write these.
Speaker 2 (05:01):
That's how I remember it. That's exactly how it went down,
and that I'm thinking about it. Yeah, So Taylor is
he's fantastic. And again, I'll explain this whole story here
as we move on. But then there's me. I've been
(05:23):
doing this for a long time. I created and for
twenty years co hosted one of the most successful radio
shows ever, not sports radio shows, just radio shows because
we didn't talk about sports all that much. As much
as I tried to talk about sports, we just didn't.
(05:43):
It's a show that still has my name on it,
and quite frankly, if I'm being honest, it's a show
that should always have my name on it. And I
started that show with Dan twenty years ago and we
have had great success. Success I never imagined my wildest dream,
because when you get in the radio, you never think, Wow,
(06:05):
I'm gonna make a lot of money. And there are
a few of us who are fortunate enough to create
something that is so special, that means so much to
an audience where not only do you get to do
the thing that you set out to do, the thing
that you love, you also get paid to do it.
And so that's what happened.
Speaker 4 (06:27):
You had to experience that like Collin.
Speaker 2 (06:32):
And Dan Patrick before him. But I am proud of
that show, and I know a lot of people have
questions as it relates to that show and what's going
on with me and Dan, And quite frankly, I am
not going to address those right here. I am not
going to do it right now, but I will tell you,
and this is the first time I've said anything about
(06:55):
this subject, and I'm only telling you to point out
just how important these people to me, and Israel Goody
Airs is to me. Whatever went down with me and
Dan was deeply hurtful and took me to some really
strange and dark places and I'm still trying to claw
my way out. And my mom would tell me, and
(07:17):
I said this when we introduced FanDuel as a sponsor
to the podcast. My mom was very big on whether
it's God, whatever you believe in, there are angels kind
of placed in your life to help guide you along
and help pick you up when you're down. And Taylor
has been that angel for me. He really has, because
(07:37):
what I see in Taylor is someone who really wants
this in the worst way, and he really wants me
to be happy, and he cares about me, and I
care about him. And we had discussions. We did because
I was so down on myself. I was thinking about
getting out of the industry entirely. Is he You and
(07:58):
I have spoken about that, and Taylor reminded me and
said to me, actually said to me, hey, have you
forgotten who you are? You're still gut huts. Let's go.
Let's go do this. So Taylor had already been let
go by Metal Lark. I was never let go. I
was not let go. Okay, okay, okay, Well what happened
(08:19):
to you? Then explained, you just got taken off the slack, Yes,
but I was not let go.
Speaker 5 (08:26):
I told him, Hey, I don't think I could do
both of these right now. We had a slack, we did.
You were just slacking.
Speaker 2 (08:37):
He's in a control room. I sent him out to
a control room. We found the control room out of
here because normally you don't have your executive producer in
the same room as you doing a show. He needs
to communicate with me, so now he has his own.
I call it the VIP room for those I was
(09:00):
waiting for you to help me out. So the more
I got to know Taylor, the more I saw a
younger version of myself. And Taylor really picked me up
at a point when I was really down. And so
in part, I wanted to do this because I know
how badly Taylor wants to make it in this industry,
(09:22):
and I know that I could help Taylor get to
the places.
Speaker 4 (09:25):
That he wants, the control room that he wants to
get to, the VIP room.
Speaker 2 (09:29):
Yes, to talk about Bellinger, and I'm gonna try not
to get emotional here. But of all the people to
walk away from our show and Metal Arc Media and
stand by my side, and quite frankly, many of them
(09:51):
should have done it and didn't do it, the person
I was least expecting to do it was Israel goody Eras,
and I just wanted to say, Ezie, I don't know
if I've ever told you this, but I am thankful
that you decided to stand with me. I am thankful
that you decided to go on this adventure, this journey
with me. And I just wanted to say that I
(10:14):
love you because it means that much to me. Your friendship,
your words, your encouragement, uh, all of it. This show
is going to be about us, plain and simple. You're
either going to fall in love with this crew or
you're not. And quite frankly, I don't give a damn
if you do. I hope that you do, but if
(10:37):
you don't, you don't. I can't force you to care
about us, but I care about these people, and I
would like you to care about these people because these
people have been there for me at a time where
I really needed friends, and I really needed people to
boost me up and remind me. Like Taylor said, who
the hell I am? And so here we are. We
(10:59):
started doing a podcast, de Goatson Company. It has turned
into a national radio show. I am very proud of that,
and I'm very proud of everything that we've done and
everything that we're about to do because we're just getting
started here now. We got thrown in on the two
busiest sports days of the year. So I wasn't able
to do this because we came off the divisional round
of the playoffs. Now we had a national championship game,
(11:21):
and then we had a coaching carousel that just doesn't stop.
Speaker 4 (11:24):
Also in national holiday.
Speaker 2 (11:25):
And a national holiday. So here I am introducing ourselves
to you the audience eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox.
I want you in the audience, if you're listening, to
think of me as one of you. I slipped through
the cracks. I'm not certain I should be here. I'm
(11:46):
not certain if I deserve to be here, But here
I am, and I have had a great career and
that career is not over. Made it all the way
to ESPN. I represent you. I am the guy in
the car who's.
Speaker 5 (12:02):
I'm gonna say something like, are you sure we're even
on those markets? And then that's gonna be the break.
Speaker 2 (12:06):
Guys, Fox Sports Radio and iHeart and it's been a
remarkable run. It really has, and it's going to continue
and we'll see if we're you know, we'll see how
much sports we're gonna talk. But this show has to
be about us. So if you're driving around, just know that.
I don't know if I'm qualified. I have no training
in this. I didn't go to school for this. I
(12:27):
didn't go to Syracuse, I didn't go to Northwestern. I
went to the Connecticut School of Broadcasting after I graduated
in five years of Clark University. So but I know
how to talk, and I know how to entertain, and
I know how to communicate, and I know what. I
have fun and I love sports, and I hope that
comes through and we talk about sports, hopefully the way
(12:48):
you and your dopey friends talk about sports in a
way that's weird, in a way that's just unrealistic. To
be quite honest with you, we dabble in the hypotheticals
all the time. We're not you know. Sometimes we make
points not back by facts. We don't care. Is he,
I should point out, is a very credible journalist. I
have no idea what he's doing here except being my friend,
because he really, I mean, of the four of us,
(13:11):
he's probably the one that will not delve into crazy
hypothetical situations like the way we do. But we like
to have fun, we like to laugh. It's sports. I'm
not splitting atoms. We're not curing cancer. We're talking about sports,
we are talking about who is going to be the
next Buffalo Bill's head coach. And so I just want
(13:31):
everyone to know out there, Okay, whether it's Scotty in Oklahoma,
or Mikey in Boston, or Bill on a car phone
or Ted in Dallas, I just want you guys to
know that I am you. I just slipped through the cracks.
Speaker 5 (13:50):
Are you sure we're even on on those markets?
Speaker 2 (13:52):
It's a great point. I have no idea good duck.
I think I have to do a livery yes. And
so what I'm gonna do for the remainder of this
show is have some fun, play some mistakes for the
first two days, because there have been plenty, and I'm
gonna take your phone calls eight seven seven ninety nine
(14:14):
on Fox. That is eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox.
I told Joe Shane, not today, Tomorrow, I need to
speak to Bill.
Speaker 4 (14:20):
On a mobile phone.
Speaker 2 (14:23):
Uh told them. Joe was like, what do you mean?
I'm ready to go?
Speaker 5 (14:26):
Is it?
Speaker 6 (14:26):
Joe? Not?
Speaker 2 (14:26):
Today? Today is for tedd and Kansas? Are we on
in Kansas?
Speaker 5 (14:32):
Taylor confirming with the with the team back here?
Speaker 2 (14:39):
So it is myself. It is Israel Goudieirez, who is fantastic?
It is Taylor, it is mikey A. There'll be a
million voices coming in and out of this place. Some days.
Is he won't be here. Some days Michael Lett Junior
could be here. Diana Rissin he could be here, Butmani
Jones could be here. Me and Taylor will always be here.
(14:59):
We're well, We're going to be here. We have no choice.
Speaker 1 (15:01):
Be sure to catch live editions of Stu Godson Company
live weekdays at three pm Eastern twelve pm Pacific.

Gotson Company here on a Wednesday. Izzy wants to introduce
us to the NBA because no one starts paying attention
(15:32):
till after football season. And he's right, but I'm not
there yet. Okay, we have three games left to play.
I'm getting closed, Dizzy, So I have to wait till
after the super Bowl, which is I'll start weekend. Well, no,
perhaps we could do it tomorrow okay, or if we
have enough time left in this segment after I'm done
doing what it is I want to do, which is
make fun.
Speaker 4 (15:52):
Of ourselves, all right, so you'll leave me about ten
seconds about it.
Speaker 2 (15:55):
Yeah, we better be careful, Tailor, because if we don't
talk NBA is He's gonna walk the hell out of here.
I'm telling you right now.
Speaker 5 (16:03):
We haven't even gotten to Baker Mayfield. You have taken
shots a Kevin Stefanski.
Speaker 2 (16:06):
What is Baker doing? Enough? Is enough? I win a
couple of playoff games? I mean seriously, never has a
guy who has played that position done so little at
talk so much that Baker Mayfield? What is he doing
with Stefanski? And he's pointing out that Stefanski never reached
out to him after he released him and let him go.
What does he want? It's a business.
Speaker 6 (16:28):
Get out of here.
Speaker 4 (16:30):
So we are getting to Baker Mayfield.
Speaker 2 (16:31):
First, Taylor got me going. He knows how to get
me go.
Speaker 3 (16:35):
Baker Taylor, can you take this note real quick, learn
how to get is he going?
Speaker 2 (16:40):
He goes, I'm gonna need some help there, No, no, no, no,
he doesn't need any help. He knows what it takes
to get you going. It's the NBA and cigarettes.
Speaker 6 (16:48):
I mean it's not a secret.
Speaker 5 (16:50):
Yeah, Stefanski sixteen and twenty six without Baker Mayfield.
Speaker 2 (16:55):
Yeah, I know. But Baker hasn't done enough where he
could be the quarterback talking trick as to Kevin Stefanski.
Neither of them have done enough. But Stefanski is not
the one talking trash. Baker is.
Speaker 3 (17:06):
If we rewind and go back to Week six of
the NFL season, I think Baker could have said whatever he.
Speaker 2 (17:11):
Wanted because he was the MVP. Yes he was. He
had a two week run as the MVP this season.
Speaker 4 (17:15):
He was the or, as we like to call out,
the holder of the MVP.
Speaker 2 (17:18):
Boll Mikey, you're disagreeing.
Speaker 7 (17:20):
I miss this Baker. This is the Baker I want.
I don't want polite Baker. I don't want Baker saying
all the cliche stuff. Give me the Baker that's gonna
call out his former coach and be like, can't wait
to play you twice.
Speaker 6 (17:31):
No, this is Baker I want.
Speaker 2 (17:32):
This is the Baker I want as well. I just
want him to win.
Speaker 4 (17:35):
This is the only Baker.
Speaker 3 (17:36):
This has always been Baker, right, This has been Baker
grabbing his junk when he was with Oklahoma. This has
been Baker dancing when he's with Oklahoma. It's always been
the same guy.
Speaker 2 (17:44):
Say what you will, Baker is he's exactly right, Oh
and seventeen he's talking seventeen to oh, he's talking and
there's no difference. It's the same guy.
Speaker 5 (17:52):
Just for context for the audiences, like, what are these
guys talking about? A reporter from the Atlanta Journal Constitution
could job labeled Mayfield as part of the dumpster fire
at quarterback that Stefanski had during his time as head
coach of the Browns. Baker. Mayfield responded on Twitter and
he said, quote failed is quite the reach.
Speaker 6 (18:10):
Pal.
Speaker 5 (18:11):
Still waiting on a text call from him after I
got shipped off like a piece of garbage. Can't wait
to see you twice a year, coach.
Speaker 2 (18:18):
How many teams is Baker? And yeah, it's so good.
How many teams as Baker played on since Stefanski did
that to him?
Speaker 4 (18:25):
He was on Carolina first second, he was with the Rams.
Ceremented in now Tampa.
Speaker 2 (18:30):
Is that it? Yes, at least he doesn't hold on
to stuff I.
Speaker 3 (18:32):
Mean, but I mean, by the way, Taylor, you're a
regular Dan Buyer over there. Great job, yes, straightening things out.
Speaker 2 (18:39):
But if you're.
Speaker 3 (18:39):
Going to make any sort of interesting out of that division,
this is how you have to do it.
Speaker 2 (18:45):
Well, Baker just did it. Yeah, yes, he just did it.
So I guess we should be okay with it. Just win,
just win something. So listen, I want to explain to
the art this is going to be a show that
makes fun of itselfs okay of ourselves. It's just it's
the way I've been doing it for twenty years. It's
the way I'm going to continue to do it because
we are doing live radio, and live radio is very
(19:05):
tricky to do.
Speaker 4 (19:07):
So can I make fun of you a quick for
not twice? You said itself?
Speaker 2 (19:10):
Yes? I don't know why I keep doing that. I
know perhaps because we do three hours of podcasting before
we come on the air every day. Check it out.
Stead's the company, God Bless Football. Subscribe, rate and review,
thank you, and then unsubscribe, resubscribe, rerate, and re review
five stars if you don't mind, if you want to
make me feel better, okay, because if you listen to
the opening monologue, I've been in some dark places. I'm
still clawing out of them. You know what makes me
(19:31):
feel better? You know what the cure for all that
is a download, a good review, download a day, a
downloaded day. Well, I said that on air, a little
five star, Oh you did, huh, a little five You're
turning into me and I'm just getting old. A five
star review that helps, a nice rating, perhaps a little comments,
(19:54):
a little download, and then unsubscribe and then do it
all over again.
Speaker 4 (19:58):
Be a hard emoji.
Speaker 2 (19:59):
Yes, so listen, every time you do that, you subscribe
and unsubscribe. Izzy will have a cigarette. Okay, you do
it twenty times a day, He'll smoke twenty at day.
So anyway, we've made some mistakes here because we have
a crew in pember Pines, Florida doing the show, myself,
Taylor and is He. We have mikey A who is
(20:19):
unfortunately for him, in Connecticut. I hate it here, I
know you do. And we have a crew in Sherman Oaks, California.
I have never done a radio show this way. I
have always done a radio show for the twenty plus years.
I've been doing this staring through a piece of bulletproof glass,
looking at a team of producers who are taking phone
(20:41):
calls and feeding me lines. So because we're doing this
doing it this way, mistakes happen. It's live radio.
Speaker 3 (20:51):
Hang on a second, when you used to stare at
people through bullets.
Speaker 2 (20:56):
So many mistakes. But I was just pointing out the
difficulties with this particular ten the last three days. It
has not been easy. Communication has not been easy. That
is no one's fault. Okay, all of it will get fixed.
We will get better as a group. We will get
better as a team, okay. And I'm including the guys
in Sherman Oaks. Although no one is better than Dan Byer.
This man is ready for anything, okay, and we need him.
(21:19):
I'm telling you right now. We needed him until today.
I think I just heard yeah, yeah, yeah yeah, as
I was saying, we make mistakes because we are doing
the show in three different states and the communication hasn't
been great, and it's live radio. And even if all
those guys in Sherman Oaks, to Easy's point, were standing
right in front of me, we probably still would have
made mistakes. So with the Winter Olympics right around the corner,
(21:42):
because listen, football is it's gonna wind down here, and
what we're gonna be left with is pitchers.
Speaker 4 (21:48):
Catchers never know where you're gonna stay next.
Speaker 2 (21:50):
And Ski I don't either, and so I made a
I have a metal stand of mistakes over the first
two days of US Too, the show I'm going to
award the bronze medalist first because of that. One goes
to me, because I have been doing this for twenty years.
(22:10):
And I allowed the bear to speak into a microphone
and sound the way he sounded yesterday, and I did
not cut him off, and I did not get him.
I just froze. I just sat there and I let
him do it. And here is the sound from yesterday's show,
the bear speaking anything but English whatever.
Speaker 8 (22:30):
So kind of reween the line, kind of like, replace
Carson Beck at the quarterback? Will a guy arkell bell?
Speaker 6 (22:40):
Will he go to the NFL? Will he say?
Speaker 2 (22:42):
Yep?
Speaker 6 (22:46):
Wait?
Speaker 2 (22:46):
Wait a second? Is the sound over?
Speaker 4 (22:49):
We made people listen to that?
Speaker 3 (22:52):
And then Stuke God says yep at the end, as
if he understood every word of it.
Speaker 5 (22:58):
Yes, yep is he? He also has a follow up question.
Speaker 2 (23:01):
Two of them two, not one, but two.
Speaker 3 (23:04):
Yeah, this is all after not really introducing Chris Filika
or who he works for.
Speaker 2 (23:09):
Yeah, who the heck? He is no, no, no. We
were fine for the first couple of minutes people knew
and then he started speaking like this. But I've been
doing this for twenty years, and again I know better,
and I know to tell Taylor, mute him, get him off,
like Chris, let's reconnect. Let's uh, let's shut it down
and come back, but just get off the radio because
you sound awful. Let's hear it one more time. Me
not being professional.
Speaker 8 (23:30):
Whatever, So kind of redeing the line, kind of like
replace Carson at the quarterback? Will a guy lark tell Bell?
Will he go to the NFL? Will he stay?
Speaker 2 (23:43):
Yep? Yep?
Speaker 4 (23:45):
Got all of it?
Speaker 6 (23:46):
Yep. Makes you wonder what he's thinking when he really
can hear the guests.
Speaker 2 (23:50):
All right, So, since we promised to peel the curtain
back and be transparent on this show, guys, can I
tell you what I was thinking? I didn't know if
I was the only one hearing it in the way
I was hearing it. I thought the audience was fine
because we can't communicate around here.
Speaker 3 (24:03):
You didn't see the completely panicked look on my face, like,
what is happening?
Speaker 4 (24:09):
Everybody in their car right now?
Speaker 2 (24:10):
Who's listening?
Speaker 4 (24:11):
All you know, twelve of you. We're trying to figure
out if it was their fault.
Speaker 5 (24:16):
But what do you think about ruben bain Ben.
Speaker 2 (24:20):
He sounded great with that answer, though, I mean he
did all right. So that is our bronze medalist. Yes,
that is yes, Oh no, there are two better than
that the competition. Let's go back to yesterday again for
our silver medalist.
Speaker 1 (24:33):
Here.
Speaker 2 (24:34):
This was after the Bear came on and did that.
It's not Bear's fault, by the way, that is on
me and only on me. I am driving this show,
and I have been doing this for twenty years and
I know better. But again my excuses. I thought the
audience was hearing something different than I was.
Speaker 4 (24:53):
I thought he he rated five stars.
Speaker 3 (24:55):
And you can even provide a review again just search
Stu Gotson Company Live. Be sure to also check out
our original podcast, do got Some Company and God bless football.
Speaker 2 (25:04):
All right? Thank you to uh Mike Golick for joining us.
Gino Toretta he Trophy.
Speaker 4 (25:11):
We're here.
Speaker 2 (25:13):
We're hearing that Yes is going to join us coming
up in about fifteen minutes. I don't know who is
making that sound and what is going on, but could
someone stop and just turn it off before I start
yelling at this entire organization. I mean, my god, it's
hard enough to do a live radio show. Then they
have to deal with this and tell me it's not
(25:34):
mikey A. It better not be mikey A.
Speaker 4 (25:37):
Kit Rupert Murdoch on the phone.
Speaker 2 (25:38):
I mean, what is happening here? Unbelieved, I'm not doing anything.
I didn't say it was you, right, well, I did
say it was you, and and and by the way,
so mikey A is upset. And again, guys in La,
we love you, We don't care. We make mistakes. We
all make mistakes. Mikey wanted me to introduce that first
(25:59):
before you played it, because I did it. And so
that was yesterday with a large clanging sound after after.
Speaker 3 (26:07):
Making mistakes on the segment where we're pointing out.
Speaker 2 (26:11):
Yes, yes, well yes, when I do a metal stand
tomorrow all from today's show, that's going to be the
gold medal game. So that was mike Ye. It was
a clanging sound that happened after the bear happened. Okay,
and that's on me, It's it's not on anyone else.
And so I don't mind this stuff. I'm okay with it.
I don't mind being uncomfortable, even on live radio, went
(26:32):
over two hundred plus markets and on the internet everywhere, okay,
across the globe. I don't mind. I don't mind singing
into it. I don't mind making fun of us. But
the stacking, the stacking is kind of where I get
a little upset because it's one thing after the next,
and that's why I lashed out yesterday. Mikey A said
that wasn't him. He went out of his way to
(26:53):
say that wasn't him.
Speaker 6 (26:55):
I was I'm not doing anything.
Speaker 2 (26:59):
I didn't say it was you. Yes, I was told
it was you. I thought it was you, but I
was told it was you. Mike, yeah, yes or no.
Speaker 6 (27:11):
I don't know who told you.
Speaker 7 (27:12):
I have backup that Our producer Jason out in La
said he looked at me when he was hearing the
noise and he said, you weren't doing anything right.
Speaker 2 (27:23):
Well, you left an open mic and your computer was on.
So I mean, I don't know what to tell you.
I'm not blaming you.
Speaker 5 (27:31):
Again.
Speaker 2 (27:33):
All right, And here's our right now, guys, wait for
me to introduce this. Okay. Here is the gold medalist. Okay,
and congratulations to him. This is going back to day
one on Monday, because we're in nineteen different rooms. He's nervous,
he's a little bit excited. He's talking really really fast. Uh,
here is Taylor from Monday. And I asked Jake Temper,
(27:56):
who's a big Philadelphia fan, his mount Rushmore of Philly
sports guys. Nick Foles was on it. Cardon Wentz was not.
Speaker 4 (28:03):
I think that's your answer.
Speaker 2 (28:04):
Okay, did you.
Speaker 5 (28:05):
See on social media? Nick Foles tweeted the Broncos and
he said, hey, guys, I know you guys are going
through it right now. But if there's any team that
struggles to beat recently placed black backup quarterbacks, right, it's
a Denver Broncos. I mean it's the New England Patriots.
Speaker 9 (28:19):
Yes, yeah, a little bit a couple of them at
least second on MLK Day.
Speaker 2 (28:35):
Can we hear that again? Because well, hold on, hold on,
is he I think there's a shorter version of that,
So I think that's what you want. You just want
to hear Taylor. Is that fair?
Speaker 6 (28:44):
Well?
Speaker 3 (28:44):
I just I just want to hear it's back to back, right,
But it's kind of jarring when you hear black out
of nowhere and then He follows that up with naming
the wrong team, which throws.
Speaker 2 (28:54):
Everything off.
Speaker 5 (28:59):
Recently placed black backup quarterbacks. It's a Denver Broncos. Yes,
I mean it's the newing the Patriots.
Speaker 1 (29:04):
Yes.
Speaker 2 (29:05):
Yeah. He landed it so well.
Speaker 4 (29:10):
It's like it's like landing a plane, like right.
Speaker 2 (29:14):
Before a speed bump. Oh wow, what a nice smooth landing.
Oh crap. He took it home with him too. He
was upset. I talked to him after the show.
Speaker 5 (29:24):
He was not only did I take it home with me?
It's still on me. It's still weighing heavily on me.
Can't get it out of my head right now?
Speaker 2 (29:32):
All right, well, here have some more playing again. Guys.
Back up.
Speaker 5 (29:39):
Recently placed black backup quarterbacks, Denver Broncos. I mean it's
the new the Patriots.
Speaker 2 (29:44):
Yes, why am I saying right? And yes?
Speaker 3 (29:48):
Neither of which, by the way, the Denver Broncos or
the new inga pat here have a black backup quarterback.
Speaker 2 (29:56):
It's okay, Taylor, you were talking fast, misspoke. Congratulations on
your gold medal.
Speaker 4 (30:03):
I will say Taylor is excellent at correcting himself. He
was calm, it was like poetry.
Speaker 2 (30:11):
He was collected.
Speaker 4 (30:12):
Then he got the right team on the second time.
Speaker 2 (30:14):
It was unbelievable. We couldn't do this if we scripted it,
it'd be impossible. I need to hear it one more time.
Speaker 5 (30:23):
Recently placed black backup quarterbacks. Right, it's a Denver Broncos.
I mean it's the New England Patriots.
Speaker 2 (30:28):
Yes, it was.
Speaker 4 (30:30):
It's the Denver Broncos. I mean it's the New England Patriots.
I mean just so good.
Speaker 5 (30:37):
I knew I messed that up before I even finished
the sentence. And that's how quickly you can hear the correction.
Speaker 2 (30:42):
Yes, and as you get ready to retire rack, we're
gonna communicate on the air here, okay, because I want
to hear one more time. This is me and Taylor
doing a duet. This is us singing together. Go ahead
one more time.
Speaker 5 (30:53):
Recently placed black backup quarterbacks. Right, it's a Denver Broncos.
I mean it's the new.
Speaker 6 (30:59):
There.
Speaker 3 (31:01):
For over forty years, tire Rack has been helping customers

Speaker 2 (31:31):
We have some calls here eight seven seven ninety nine
on Fox. That's eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox.
We'll get to the Buffalo Bill's press conference here in
just a second. I also have a metal stand of
mistakes over the first two days on our show, because
we've been thrown together in a studio and we love
it here. We do everyone at iHeart. Everyone in this
building in Pembroke Pines has been fantastic, super helpful, but
(31:54):
there have been some struggles with communication which have led
to some very funny moments. And we are going to
be a show that laughs at itself, because at ourselves,
because that's the only way I know how to do it.
It's the way I've been doing it for twenty years.
I don't take myself very seriously, and I certainly don't
take this or sports as serious as I probably should.
Speaker 4 (32:14):
You definitely laugh a lot.
Speaker 2 (32:16):
We have laughed a lot for the wrong reason sometimes,
and we will get to those in just a minute here.
But first let's go out to Sean in Sacramento. It's sacktown. Sean,
go ahead, Yeah, what up?
Speaker 10 (32:29):
Stew it up?
Speaker 6 (32:30):
Is he get busy? Man?
Speaker 10 (32:31):
First of all, model on the new show. Man, long
time listener, Man, first time caller.
Speaker 6 (32:36):
But I gotta ask.
Speaker 10 (32:37):
Man the elephant in the room that nobody has asked it. Man,
what is a relationship with Nan Lebatar not Patrick? Is
your time on that show completely done at this point?
And do you plan on taking a one double, a
NC doublea basketball job within the next two years. I'll
take the answer off the air and congrat again.
Speaker 6 (32:56):
Brothers.
Speaker 2 (32:57):
All right, thank you, Sean.
Speaker 3 (32:59):
I have no idea what my relationship is like and
whether or not to leave back on that show. Also, Sean,
if you learn anything from a journalist, don't stack up
your questions like that. Just one question, yes, Otherwise I'll
just pick and choose whatever I want to answer or
who can answer it.
Speaker 2 (33:13):
Yeah that matter. Yes, that was nice of Sean to
ask about your relationship with Dana, whether or not you'll
be back on the show. That show still has my
name on it, and I'm still I staw have a
contract with that So I mean and I'm the second
largest shareholder in that company. I believe.
Speaker 4 (33:27):
He also said my middle name get busy.
Speaker 2 (33:29):
Yes, I so badly want to get to the press conference,
but I told Joe Shane not today so I could
speak to Dustin in Iowa. Dustin, go ahead, you are
on Fox Sports Radio. My friend Stu Gots congrats on
the move.
Speaker 4 (33:43):
Can't wait to listen.
Speaker 10 (33:44):
I've also noticed that there's what's the nine radio days
less than January?
Speaker 6 (33:49):
What's up with that?
Speaker 10 (33:51):
I know?
Speaker 1 (33:53):
Anyway, my question Mike McDaniel Justin Herbert's crash course, how
are they not a.
Speaker 10 (33:58):
Super Bowl contender next year?
Speaker 8 (34:00):
At all?
Speaker 4 (34:01):
Right?
Speaker 2 (34:01):
Thank you appreciate it. They should be listen Justin Herbert
because he now gets Mike McDaniel as an offensive coordinator
along with a great head coach and Jim Harbaugh, who
has not been able to get the We've seen a
better Justin Herbert. We haven't seen Justin Herbert. Is he
that advances in the playoffs. He's out of excuses if
he can't get it done with Mike McDaniel. Justin Herbert
(34:24):
has run out of excuses because I would say, of
all the people who are available as offensive coordinators here
in this coaching carousel, Mike McDaniel was the most coveted one.
Speaker 3 (34:34):
Did the Chargers decide that they were going to go
with Mike McDaniel instead of improving their offensive line because
Mike McDaniel did good things with a questionable offensive line
in Miami. Because I think everybody who's watched the Chargers,
especially in that playoff game, said get that man some protection.
(34:56):
I don't know if Mike McDaniel's speed for speed, second speed,
third offense is necessarily what's gonna save justin Herbert's behind
when he's behind a leaky offensive line.
Speaker 5 (35:09):
Part of the reason though the Chargers had such a
bad offensive line they lost two all Pro caliber players
to injury, Ray Shawn Slater goes down in training camp
and then Joe Alt their first round pick. If you're
the Chargers right now this offseason, you just throw everything
on your offensive line and don't worry about the defense
right now. Just say, hey, we are gonna score fifty
(35:31):
points a game. I dare you to beat us.
Speaker 3 (35:33):
The great thing that I like about McDaniel and Herbert
together is, obviously Herbert can make every throw. But one
of the issues with Tua was his ability to see
over the offensive line, see over the line, and Justin
Herbert doesn't have that issue. So if a lot of
movement and there's a lot of reads that Herbert has
maybe immediately off right off the snap, he can just
(35:56):
see those a little bit better and make decisions maybe a.
Speaker 4 (35:59):
Little bit quicker than even Tua did.
Speaker 3 (36:01):
So I think that potential has a lot, you know,
just has a lot of potential there.
Speaker 2 (36:05):
I'm just not.
Speaker 3 (36:05):
Sure how well Justin Herbert's style is necessarily going to
match Mike McDaniel's offense.
Speaker 4 (36:11):
We'll see.
Speaker 7 (36:13):
I'm done talking about Justin Herbert as a potential great
quarterback until he wins.
Speaker 6 (36:19):
Until he wins something.
Speaker 7 (36:21):
Right, I'm sick of the excuses with this guy, like
you're a loser until proven otherwise, I'm never gonna pick you.
I'm never gonna pick a playoff game and go, oh,
that Chargers team is really good.
Speaker 6 (36:32):
Justin Herbert looks like a guy. Now, until you do it,
you're a loser to me.
Speaker 2 (36:36):
Taylor put it on the poll, Justin Herbert, until you
do it, you're a loser to me. Yes or no.
Speaker 3 (36:40):
I do think Mike McDaniel and La is a perfect fit.
Like if that dude is on the sideline as an
offensive coordinator head to toe and Louis V I think
people will embrace that he.
Speaker 2 (36:52):
Looked out of place here in Miami. He did just
he tried to fit in.
Speaker 3 (36:56):
But I think that was the part, Like I think
he tried too hard, showed up as the very genuine,
sort of dorky, likable head coach with a quirky personality,
and then sort of leaned into the Miami of it all, yes,
and became a guy who I mean, look, I don't
think it was awkward or cringe worthy or anything like that.
(37:18):
He was just being himself, this version of himself, and
some people were like, I don't know, you got to
win to.
Speaker 2 (37:23):
Do that, and he wasn't doing enough winning. I'm not
certain a team in the NFL's ever averaged fifty points
a game.
Speaker 5 (37:29):
What time should we next break?
Speaker 6 (37:35):
Well?
Speaker 5 (37:35):
Remember that one game with Mike McDaniel against the Broncos.
Speaker 2 (37:37):
Yeah, of seventy, yes, but it was one game.
Speaker 5 (37:40):
I think about that game probably once a week. It's
kind of like my Roman Empire thing that that they
say all guys think about once a week.
Speaker 2 (37:51):
Do you have a VIP room. You're loving the room,
and I think you're loving what you love most about
it is you're not in this room with me anymore.
Speaker 5 (37:57):
Yeah, so it smelled like a chimney in there.
Speaker 2 (38:00):
Well, I mean, listen, if Izzy would stop smoking, I mean, geez.
Speaker 5 (38:04):
My lungs feel significantly healthier in this room.
Speaker 2 (38:08):
I mean, is he g got a problem?
Speaker 3 (38:09):
It's already been twice Taylor, where I've been outside like
i'd have to go to my car byby go get
some food. And I ceased you and I'm like start
walking toward him, and then I see the cigarette and
I'm like, immediate backtrack.
Speaker 2 (38:22):
I want to be anywhere. You know what in Rome?
Is he? Because you're out there you're smoking, and I figure,
I don't even smoke. I'm like, all right, well, if
Izzy's gonna have one, I'm gonna have one.
Speaker 4 (38:33):
Fine, I'll start smoking.
Speaker 2 (38:34):
Yes, I also take no responsibility. Since we're introducing ourselves
today to the audience, let's go out to h This
is listen. This is why I came back to radio.
Most people are fleeing radio. They are they're leaving it.
I decided to leave it and then come back because
I missed it so much, and what I miss most
was talking to Chasin Alabama. Chasing Alabama, go ahead, you
(38:57):
are on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 11 (39:00):
To god, dude, Yeah, this was treat. How great it
is to hear your voice again. I know you've got
a podcast, you've been out there, but the way I
consume content, it's just got to come to me when
I kept my radio on Hurd ste Gott's coming out
of it a smile on my face. Idiot, It's great
to hear from you as well. Now you missed you too,
but I just wanted to say, man, it's great to
(39:20):
hear you again. I'm glad you got out of the
liver Tarde Show.
Speaker 2 (39:25):
Okay, well, yeah, the name's still on the show and
I'm supposed to do like twenty four shows before March. First,
I think I don't know what the deal is. I
don't know what, but thank you, Chase. I appreciate it. Listen.
I got into this industry to do radio. I grew
up listening to sports radio. I grew up listening to Wfan,
Mike and the Mad Dog. One of the coolest things
later on in my life and my career here has
(39:46):
been the relationships I have formed both with Mike Francesa
and Christopher Maddog. Where you So I do dog Show
every Friday at five. I love sports radio. I loved
listening to it, and I said to my dad one
day in the car we were driving around listening to
Mike and Chris. I said, Dad, are they getting paid
to do this? He said, yes, they're probably getting paid
a lot. And I said, I want to do that
for a living, And so I pursued it relentlessly. And
(40:09):
when we left radio, me and Dan ESPN Radio, I
don't know four or five years ago, that was not
something I wanted to do, and I always intended to
get back on the radio because this is what I love.
I love talk radio. I love taking calls. I love
giving out a phone number. I love when we have
the perfect ending. I can't go to break because I
have to do a live read.
Speaker 4 (40:30):
So wait a second.
Speaker 3 (40:31):
You asked your dad, Hey, Dad, do they make a
lot of money by having other people call them and
ask them questions to fill time?
Speaker 2 (40:40):
I love that idea. I would love to do that. Wait, dad,
So they pay people a lot of money for other
people to do their jobs.
Speaker 3 (40:47):
Dad was wrong, by the way, they weren't getting paid
a lot of money back then.
Speaker 2 (40:51):
They were not, but I think they were trailblazers, those guys.
They were. And I'm pretty certain I could be wrong,
and we'll have Mike on at some point, but I
think FRANCESSA was the first one to make north of
a million bucks doing this and deserved every damn penny
of it. Quite frankly, they were getting like twenty shares
and the number one more kid in America's.
Speaker 4 (41:09):
I would like to go to there to a million.
Speaker 2 (41:12):
Please, You would just like me to send you every
two weeks anything if you stop smoking. If I didn't
think all the money I was gonna send was gonna
go towards cartons of cigarettes.
Speaker 3 (41:25):
I started smoking as soon as I joined Stick got
some company.
Speaker 2 (41:31):
Oh man, Taylor, can you tell the audience why? We'll
get to the sound in a minute press conference sound?
And I wish I could have taken a call right there,
because is he deeded up perfectly for me having other
people do our jobs. But I'm gonna have Taylor do
our job right now. Why are you so excited about Bellinger?
This is not a day to be excited about Bellinger.
It's just no one gets it. I listen, I realize
(41:52):
there were three football games remaining. Depression sets in. I
know we can't wait to get to the end here,
and then we'll miss it two weeks after it's over
because we're dealing with pitchers and catchers showing up. So
why are you so excited about Bellinger today? I understand
after the Super Bowl, But why today are you so
excited about Bellinger and your beloved short porch.
Speaker 5 (42:11):
So when you could run a team, when you could
run it back with a slightly worse team that failed expectations,
you gotta do it every time you can. And so
far this offseason, you're looking at who the Yankees have signed. Yes,
we re signed Trent Grisham. He called our bluff with
that qualifying offer exactly. He stinks, but he did have
a career year last year, to be fair to They
(42:32):
bring back a mod Rosario, they bring back Paul Blackburn,
they bring back Ryan Yarbo. What you're noticing is, I'm
not saying they're adding anybody. They're just bringing people back.
And not only are they bringing people back, we're losing
Luke Weaver, We're losing Devin Williams. Where we're losing pieces
left and right in our bullpen. Yes, So for the
Yankee fan, we're taking any small wins we can. That's
(42:53):
that's how far the Yankee brand has regressed to this
point where we're now just excited when we bring up
player back. So that's why we're excited about Bellinger.
Speaker 3 (43:02):
And it's crazy because your excitement is going to lead
right into a work stoppage.
Speaker 2 (43:07):
Yeah, because everywhere for the strike. Yes, yes, are you
right because you know you're not gonna win a World Series?
Is that correct? We got to stop the Dodgers, So
you'd rather have no baseball but not make it to
the World Series.
Speaker 6 (43:19):
Yes.
Speaker 5 (43:19):
And a lot of people are saying it's hypocritical of
Yankee fans like me and mikey A for saying how
unfair it is of the Dodgers spending the nineties team
they were homegrown. If you want to point out the
two thousand and nine World Series that we were buying
people A. J. Burnett, Ccispatia, Mark de Chera. I'll give
you two thousand and nine. The rest of the team's homegrown.
(43:40):
A lot different scenario.
Speaker 2 (43:42):
Mikey A. He is turning, He's turning into me. You
see it, right, you've noticed it. He is turning into me. Yeah,
but he's supposed to be right.
Speaker 7 (43:52):
It's getting scary. How if you just read me a quote,
I'm not sure at this point if I could determine
if you said it, if Taylor said it.
Speaker 2 (44:01):
I mean, after the long monologue for him to say,
I'm not certain we're on in any of those markets.
I mean just chef's kiss. I love you, dude.
Speaker 6 (44:10):
We're everywhere with the IHEARTRATEO right.
Speaker 2 (44:13):
Scott Shabira quickly reminded us the man who was in
charge of this place and made this deal happen and
hired us. He quickly reminded us that we're on in
every city everywhere, not just in the United States, but
across the globe. Wow. I mean I didn't go to
Syracuse got into Syracuse. My daughter got into Syracuse. I'll
(44:37):
tell you when when when Rachel was determined. I have
twin daughters. By the way, one of them plays lacrosse
at Northwestern. It's the Alabama of women's lacrosse. I'm sorry,
it's the Indiana of women's lacrosse. And she was choosing.
She had offers from Syracuse, and she had offers from
a lot of schools, but it was down to Syracuse
at Northwestern. And she asked me, and I always told her,
(45:00):
and if you're gonna work this hard, use this special
talent that you have to get into a school that
you wouldn't normally get into. And so that's why she
ended up choosing choosing Northwestern because that's a school she
would not normally have gotten into. And so when she
asked me which one should I go to? I said,
listen to me. Your sister got into Syracuse. What a
(45:25):
dad you are, Dad of the Year.
Speaker 6 (45:28):
The keyon Coleman of his family.
Speaker 2 (45:31):
We'll get to the press conference night.
Speaker 1 (45:33):
