Be sure to catch live editions of Stu gottson Company
Live weekdays at three pm Eastern twelve pm Pacific on
Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
It is to Gotson Company Here on a Thursday on
Fox Sports Radio eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox.

Speaker 3 (00:16):
That's eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
Is Reel goody Eras at Studio Tailors in the VIP room,
mikey A on the zoom here, Chris Simms is going
to join us to get us ready for Championship weekend
in the NFL. We have a rule on this show
where we push everything aside. When Christopher mad Dog Russo,
whom I love and I'll be on his show tomorrow

(00:42):
at five o'clock and tell her we need to figure
out how to hook me up with that show. What's
we're done here? We are going to play this out
on the air together, all of us. But we have
a rule and that rule is asy as you know,
we push everything aside when Chris mad Dog Russo mispronounces something.

Speaker 3 (00:59):
Oh, okay, okay.

Speaker 2 (01:02):
So here we have Doggy trying to pronounce this week's
starting quarterback for the Denver Broncos.

Speaker 4 (01:11):
But you have confidence in Peyton getting the most out
of the.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
Out of the quarterback in this ball game.

Speaker 4 (01:18):
Here stick stick them in this game on Sunday afternoon
against the Patriots.

Speaker 3 (01:22):
What's your take with that game?

Speaker 4 (01:23):
Let me hear.

Speaker 3 (01:26):
Who was on the receiving end of that question. Is
that not pronouncing it correctly? Or is that not knowing
his name? That's just Dog being dog, That's what it is.

Speaker 5 (01:38):
You know he went with the stickham and then to
correct himself said.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
No, that sounded right, stick them, Yes, yes, I want
to play it again. I want to play this didham
sound again because you can hear Dog waiting for his
producer to give him the correct pronunciation of the name
in his headset. And perhaps Eddie Eddie Erickson did. But
I have no idea that that's an hung twister. Hey,
you have nothing. First off, you have really coming from you,

(02:08):
black up quarterback.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
That was Taylor clear, Yes, it was Taylor in the
VIP room.

Speaker 2 (02:18):
I want you to listen to it closely again because
you can hear mad Dog kind of trying to kill
some time, trying to give his producer some time to
give him the correct pronunciation of a name. That's really
easy to pronounce go ahead.

Speaker 4 (02:32):
But you have confidence in Peyton getting the most out
of the out of the quarterback in this ball game. Here,
stick them in this game on Sunday afternoon against the Patriots.

Speaker 6 (02:43):
What's your take with that game?

Speaker 3 (02:44):
Let me hear it's so good?

Speaker 2 (02:48):
Yes, what's the better name there? In fact, Taylor put
that on the poll. Jared Stidham or Jared Stickham?

Speaker 3 (02:54):
What's the better name?

Speaker 5 (02:54):
Would be a great cornerback name. I don't know about
a quarterback name.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
So I said this morning, it would be a great
wide receiver name. Now that I'm thinking about it, Sticking
would be a great linebacker name, right, Yeah, it kids.

Speaker 5 (03:06):
It's a big hit, like hit stick, But I think
of like sticking somebody, like covering somebody and stick to
him like glue.

Speaker 3 (03:11):
So that's why I think of a cornerback.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
So we'll get back to mad Dog in a second,
his former partner, Mike Francessa, and I grew up listening
to these two guys, Mike and the Mad Dog wfa
N the reason I got into this industry. And I
love both of them dearly, and I don't think either
would mind if I were making fun of them, And
if they if they do, mind, I will say this respectfully.

Speaker 3 (03:33):
I don't care.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
Mike Francessa was on his podcast trying to pronounce a
wide receiver's name that I easily pronounced it. Somehow, Mike Francessa,
who was the greatest of all time at this he
had trouble with this name.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
Go ahead, guys, Sam's having a really good year.

Speaker 1 (03:49):
Twelve touchdowns, four into steps Smith.

Speaker 6 (03:55):
You know, it's amazing how many.

Speaker 7 (03:56):
These house state you know, receiver has just come into
the league and flourished.

Speaker 3 (04:00):
Smith whatever.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
That is, Francessa, Jackson Smith in Jigba is the name
he was going for.

Speaker 5 (04:17):
I have said on our podcast Dugats and Company several
times that it is possibly the most surprising thing about you, Stu,
and that's saying a lot, is that you're able to
just drop that name like it's nothing.

Speaker 3 (04:31):
It just rolls off your tongue.

Speaker 5 (04:32):
You can't say the plural or the singular, I'm not
sure of woman, no, no, but you can say Jackson
Smith and Jigba.

Speaker 3 (04:41):
Yes, I just butchered. Eddie Erickson, correct, Well, you swallowed
the crack batter of that.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
Yes, it's the E and the E right, that's the time,
right when you're talking a little bit too quickly. It's
the e and the e. Uh, that kind of I
got caught up on. So let's go back to dog here.
So again we had dog first with and then we
had Mike Francessa trying to pronounce He just called him Smith,

(05:07):
and he would have been better off just calling.

Speaker 5 (05:08):
Him, say, he would have been better off just going
off on that tangent that he was going off originally
about Ohio state and never revisiting the name.

Speaker 6 (05:14):
Jays En was right there for him.

Speaker 3 (05:16):
Yes, yeah, that's why I do it. Yes, that's exactly right.

Speaker 2 (05:21):
So Taylor just quickly here, we're gonna go back to
Doggie here, who tries to pronounce the same name.

Speaker 3 (05:25):
But this is from a year ago, correct? Correct?

Speaker 6 (05:29):
I knew at some point dog had to get tripped
up saying this name. So I went back, listened to
all the shows and found a time from last year
when Gino Smith was still the quarterback.

Speaker 3 (05:40):
All right, guys, play it.

Speaker 4 (05:41):
The Seahawks blocked a forty eight yard field goals four
minutes left, which would have put the patch up six.

Speaker 6 (05:47):
That was a big play in his game.

Speaker 4 (05:48):
Smith played well and his receivers. Metcalf cought ten, Jackson
Smith and good Juba.

Speaker 6 (05:54):
The kid from.

Speaker 4 (05:54):
Ohio State he caught twelve more. And the Seattle team
is two and old. They get Miami next week without
so they got a good chance to go three.

Speaker 2 (06:01):
And oh, he should just call the kid from Ohio State.

Speaker 5 (06:06):
That was just so everybody understands. Look, I know I
butchered the heck out of that name, but if you
know anything about football, the kid from Ohio States, that's
the one I was pronounced.

Speaker 3 (06:17):
So, by the way, those two the greatest to ever
do this. Yes, I love them, I do is he.

Speaker 2 (06:25):
I am having a hard time And Chris Sims is
going to join us, and I know you want to
play an NBA game with us, and we'll do that
coming up in the next epic. Because I want to
do it, I have to start shifting my attention to something.
And it's not pictures and catchers. It's going to be
the NBA. Perhaps March Madness, definitely Augusta U. But so
I do want to play this game today, Mikey has
his mid out. Why do you have a glove out?

(06:46):
A catcher's glove? What are you doing back there?

Speaker 3 (06:51):
P's and c's.

Speaker 2 (06:52):
Yes, uh so I do want to shift my focus
to the NBA. So we will play this game, and
I promise you that Taylor will hijack the game with
a game.

Speaker 3 (07:02):
That he would rather play. I don't believe any of it.
What do you mean you don't believe that. I don't
believe any of it.

Speaker 5 (07:06):
There was one show I was promised we would talk basketball.

Speaker 3 (07:08):
We didn't. Then I don't believe we're gonna do it today.
But we'll see.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
All Right, Taylor, you're gonna let him play this game.
I'm begging you to let him play this game with us. Okay, yeah,
we could get to the Freddy Perrault to trade. After that,
Stevie Cohen finally spending some money, met fans are finally happy.
I think I have no idea, but I maintained that
I know. Colin Cowhor disagrees. The Dodgers awful for the

(07:32):
sport of baseball, just terrible. They're terrible for the sport
of baseball. It is not good to have that much
in balance. I know, once you get to the postseason,
things are random, but that team is guaranteed to make
it to the postseason every single season.

Speaker 3 (07:46):
And they've won the.

Speaker 2 (07:47):
World Series the last two years. It's unfair, and they
keep adding on players. It's ridiculous, it's absurd. And I
don't care who the Mets are. They have no chance
of beating the Dodgers at the best semesteries.

Speaker 3 (07:56):
But I digress.

Speaker 5 (07:57):
This whole front page of notes is just Mets edition,
and you're still just killing the Dodgers for adding too
many people.

Speaker 3 (08:02):
I want you to understand something.

Speaker 2 (08:04):
The show sheet that Taylor puts together would be for
Taylor if he were hosting this show.

Speaker 5 (08:09):
I mean that is so true because I circled something
or not to get us off on a tangent here,
but I circled something in here that it just feels
like he just wants us to ask what his deal
is with this particular subject. Because it says is it
time for the SEC to retire?

Speaker 3 (08:27):
It just means more. I don't think that's a very
long conversation.

Speaker 5 (08:32):
I just think that's Taylor an acc guys saying, you
know what SEC take that.

Speaker 3 (08:37):
You don't deserve that anymore? Am I right? Taylor?

Speaker 6 (08:40):
Well, I'm glad you brought that up because the SEC
was four and ten in ball season this season. Yes,
but two of those four wins were against other SEC teams.
The third was Ole Miss beating two Lane, and then
the fourth was Texas beating Michigan and Texas Texas's Johnny
come Lately when it comes to the SEC. So SEC,
if you're gonna say it just means more, start winning

(09:02):
when it actually matters. Because three straight years the Big Ten.
Thank you, Thank you, Asy for letting me get that off.

Speaker 3 (09:06):
You just check that out the list that one's done.

Speaker 5 (09:09):
I'll see if there's a couple more in there that
we should chime in on later of the show.

Speaker 2 (09:13):
So, Izzy, I am having a hard time, which is
which is rare for me, at least getting excited about
Championship Sunday in the NFL. Now there's a tinge of
sadness that comes with Championship Sunday. You're excited for it,
you can't wait to watch the games, but you also
realize we have three football games left before mikey A
pulls out his catcher's glove and starts thinking about p's

(09:34):
and c's pitchers and catchers reporting the spring training.

Speaker 3 (09:38):
That glove looks like it's from eighteen hundred. It is.

Speaker 6 (09:43):
Just bought it.

Speaker 3 (09:44):
Did you really how much is a glove these days? Yeah?
They're expensive, right, Yeah.

Speaker 6 (09:49):
I talked.

Speaker 8 (09:50):
I talked him down to about forty dollars on this one.
I just want it easy to know. This is where
my head's at.

Speaker 2 (09:54):
Okay, I think I knew when we play the NBA game,
have that glove on the entire iron time.

Speaker 3 (10:00):
Please.

Speaker 2 (10:03):
So I'm having a hard time getting myself excited for
Championship Sunday because the storylines to me, just aren't that interesting,
and I'm wondering if you're experiencing the same thing.

Speaker 3 (10:14):
Let me elaborate for just a second.

Speaker 2 (10:16):
Please, Sam Darnold winning his first Super Bowl like, that's
not a big it's not a.

Speaker 3 (10:19):
Big enough storyline for me.

Speaker 2 (10:22):
Seattle, great team, fourteen and three, they're the one seed,
They're a home game away from making it to the
Super Bowl. Apologies to Seattle. I just don't care about
that team enough, Okay, I really do. Then you have
you know, you have Denver with Jared Stickham, great cornerback,

(10:42):
and maybe there's a storyline there with Sean Payton winning
his second Super Bowl, which puts him in an entirely
different category when you're talking about the greatest coaches of
all time, especially if you win one with your backup
quarterback Jared Stickham.

Speaker 3 (10:57):
So you have that storyline a.

Speaker 5 (10:58):
Whole lot of people sitting at home saying, wow, I
really want to coach to win number two.

Speaker 3 (11:02):
Right Sean and that coach in particular, Sean Payton.

Speaker 2 (11:05):
And then you have Matthew Stafford, who was going for
his second Super Bowl since leaving Detroit, and Stafford that
would put him in a different category of quarterbacks in
terms of how we kind of look back at these things.
And a guy with two Super Bowl rings. And I
guess a lot of people are probably rooting for the
veteran Matthew Stafford because he seems like a good guy,

(11:29):
very popular guy, and I think people are rooting.

Speaker 3 (11:32):
For him to pull it off.

Speaker 2 (11:33):
And then you have the Patriots and can they kind
of turn it around this quickly and be the most
dominant team in the NFL again?

Speaker 8 (11:40):
No?

Speaker 3 (11:40):
Last the last Patriots Super Bowl win? What year was that?
Taylor would know and he'll look it up. Well, he's
a new new Patriots fan, so I don't know if
he knows right off a long six years. Yes, Patriots,
Oh my, No, they've done a remarkable job they have.
Give Bob Kraft credit.

Speaker 2 (11:57):
Got the right coach in there, they got the right
quarter are back in there, and they have a really
good shot because they're taking on Jared Stickham in the
AFC Championship game, so they have.

Speaker 3 (12:07):
A good shot of advance. Thank you, Thank you, guys.

Speaker 2 (12:11):
But I really just I really just have none of
the storylines that I just kind of laid out for you.
They mean nothing to me, and I'm not certain they
mean anything to anyone nationally unless.

Speaker 3 (12:24):
You live in one of those four markets, you know.

Speaker 5 (12:27):
And it's funny because normally the NFL just transcends all
there's always enough there.

Speaker 3 (12:33):
There seems to be.

Speaker 5 (12:34):
And you know, most people would say, I don't need
storylines to show me good football, and I think that's
not true, especially when it comes to, you know, the
biggest game of the year that you have two weeks
of build up for. So it's yeah, I think you
can cheer for the best Super Bowl possibility, which would
probably be Rams Patriots, and that's what you're pulling for.
And I think the Rams and the way their offense runs.

(12:58):
I think Pukinakua, just as a football player, is just
phenomenal to watch because it feels like any the ball
anywhere in his vicinity, he can always get there. So
there's enough entertainment to where it's like, all right, I'm
good for these two games, but in comparison to most
conference championship weekends, it feels a little empty.

Speaker 3 (13:16):
It does, by the way, if Sean Payton did win.

Speaker 2 (13:19):
Like of the coaches who have won this is interesting,
of the coaches who have won multiple Super Bowls who
have done it with the worst quarterbacks, because I would say,
like Drew Brees great obviously, Jared Stickham not so great.
And if he wins this one, that's fairly impressive winning
two games, the AFC Championship Game and the Super Bowl

(13:40):
with your backup quarterback. If people are comparing it to
Jeff Hostetler, it is not that is not the same situation.

Speaker 5 (13:45):
I would like Jared'stidham to survive a quarter before we
start talking about him winning two games and one of
them being the Super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (13:52):
Let's just see how he survives a quarter.

Speaker 2 (13:53):
But I'm just wondering of the coaches, I think it's
Parcels now that I'm thinking about it. Parcels won what now,
Phil Simms was a good quarterback. A lot of people
feel like he should be in the Hall of Fame.
Chris Sims, his son, will join us later on the show.
But Parcels won with Phil Simms and Jeff Hostetler. M

(14:14):
now Hostetler Sims got hurt. I think twelve games into
that season, Hostetler had four games to ramp up get
ready for the playoffs, and then took that team to
the Super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (14:23):
They beat the Buffalo Bills in that Super Bowl.

Speaker 2 (14:26):
And I'm just trying to think of the coaches who
have won Super Bowls with the worst quarterbacks, of the
coaches who have won multiple Super Bowls, because I think
if we just said one super Bowl would be Trent dilferd.

Speaker 8 (14:38):
Right, Bellichick one with a backup Tom Brady. Ye, that
first year it was Drew Bledsoe.

Speaker 2 (14:47):
You're right, yeah, But he didn't win with anyone else.
That's the problem, you know, it was just Brady.

Speaker 3 (14:53):
So I don't know.

Speaker 2 (14:54):
I'm just having a hard time getting myself excited for
uh and it seems weird.

Speaker 3 (14:57):
It's such a weird feeling.

Speaker 2 (14:58):
It's Championship Sunday, and I can't get myself excited because
I don't care about Seattle and Sam Donald, Yes.

Speaker 5 (15:03):
So much so that I spent that entire time wondering
if it was tinge of sadness or twinge of sadness.
And it is tinge of sadness technically. But if you
look at the definition, they both work.

Speaker 3 (15:13):
Yeah, yeah they do. How about that You don't look
up the quarterbacks? Well I didn't. I didn't. I looked
at the show sheet. Taylor wasn't in there. Yes, information
not there? Thank your contribution? What do you got, Taylor? Stu?

Speaker 6 (15:26):
What if you look at it from the angle of
right now, Matthew Stafford in the club of the Hall
of Fame, Matthew Stafford's probably fifteenth, twentieth in line. His
stats are a little underwhelming in comparison to other Hall
of Fame quarterbacks. Yes, but if Stafford is able to
win a second Super Bowl, I think he goes to

(15:47):
the front of the line.

Speaker 3 (15:48):
So what do you Why is he in line?

Speaker 5 (15:50):
By the way, he's not in line. He already has
the bracelet, he's guaranteed it. He's about to win MVP
at age thirty seven.

Speaker 2 (15:57):
No, so I think what Taylor's trying to say, if
if I can correct you.

Speaker 3 (16:01):
Here is Matthew staff and is he is? Right?

Speaker 2 (16:03):
Stafford's already in the Hall of Fame, but he's in
a different room. He's in the room of people with
one ring. Okay, so you're saying, what happens to him
if he wins a second ring? He goes to a
very special room, Taylor. He does, like to use your
analogy or however you laid it out for us, he
is technically if he was waiting to get into this
lame club in Canton called the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

(16:25):
And I got to tell you, if you've never been
to Canton, Wow, there's the Pro Football Hall of Fame
surrounded by strip clubs.

Speaker 3 (16:38):
It's a weird place, it really is.

Speaker 2 (16:40):
But what Taylor is saying is how much would this
move Matthew Stafford up? And it would move him up
drastically in my opinion, because now you're talking about a
quarterback that has multiple Super Bowl championships.

Speaker 3 (16:51):
He's going to be a.

Speaker 2 (16:52):
First ballot Hall of Famer and he's going to go
into a very special room if he does have two rings.

Speaker 3 (16:57):
Now it with Taylor, is that what you meant? Goida? Yeah?

Speaker 6 (17:02):
And also Ricardo here in the VIP room with me.
He pitched that maybe Joe Gibbs winning with Rippin and
thisman should be in consideration.

Speaker 3 (17:11):
That's a good one. And Campbell it was Doug Williams.

Speaker 6 (17:13):
Williams, Doug Williams.

Speaker 3 (17:15):
Yeah, Who's Campbell? I mean Jason Campbell. Who's Ricardo? Put
it on the Paul Taylor, Who's Ricardo? Yes?

Speaker 1 (17:29):
Or no?

Speaker 3 (17:30):
Oh? God? Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox. That's
eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox.

Speaker 1 (17:36):
Be sure to catch live editions of Stu Gotson Company
Live weekdays at three pm Eastern twelve pm Pacific.

Speaker 2 (17:45):
All right, Chris Simms joins us every Thursday on stugottson Company,
the podcast we do before we get in here. We're
cracking out like two three hours every single day before
we even get in here, which would probably explain why
we're exhausted by the time we get in here and
why I can't say Eddie ericson, I feel fine, all right,
but Chris Simms is the best in the business. Of course,

(18:08):
A PFT with Mike Florio every day on Peacock The
Unbuttoned podcast as well, and one of the hosts of
Football Night in America Sunday Night Football their pregame show,
Chris Simms joins us. Now, Chris, was that a sloppy
a game? Because I was amazed by it? But was
that as sloppy a game as you've seen Josh Allen
play ever?

Speaker 9 (18:27):
Definitely? Definitely definitely. Now My defense always for is, you
know this is he's got to do everything, and you
ever notice that they never win games when he doesn't
play just awesome, And that's where I always go the
roster just not good enough. I don't care what anybody says.

Speaker 6 (18:42):
We see game.

Speaker 9 (18:43):
We see quarterbacks playing worse than worse than Josh Allen,
and their teams still find ways to win. They're not
capable of doing that. And that's where I don't necessarily
agree with McDermott taking the fall maybe over the GM right,
I kind of side with the coach on that one too.
Like not too many all pros we've talked about in Buffalo,
we never talk about a difference maker that we got
to change the game plan for on either side of

(19:06):
the ball. So that doesn't match up to other teams
that have gone to the Super Bowl, right, the Eagles,
we've talked about it's an All Star All Pro team.
Then when they were in the Super Bowls, I mean
it's like, oh my god, oh my god. H positions
like that. It's one Pro Bowl in an All Pro
after another. The Chiefs, of course, tons of them, the
forty nine ers teams that lost in the Super Bowl,
tons of them, I mean tons of them. Like, oh

(19:28):
my gosh, it's an All Star team again. So you know,
the Buccaneers with Brady team was stacked with talent. Buffalo
doesn't match up in that department with those guys. McDermott
and Josh Allen have closed that gap and made a
fugazy Oh this is a super Bowl team. And you
know me, I've been here with you guys for three
years agoing it's not really a super Bowl team. It's

(19:49):
a real good team with one of the greatest quarterbacks
we've ever seen. But to your point, yeah, Josh Allen,
he played arguably his worst game of the year. Right
when you talk about stakes and then some things that
were available to be had. He played awesome in the
first half.

Speaker 6 (20:06):
Awesome.

Speaker 9 (20:06):
I mean I'm writing in my notes on my phone
going Josh Allen is bawling.

Speaker 6 (20:10):
He's taken over the game.

Speaker 3 (20:12):
Yeah, he was what I was thinking, this year is
the year. Yes, that's why he was.

Speaker 9 (20:15):
Thirteen to fifteen. They were going up and down the
field on the Broncos. He was he'd run first forty
yards already in the first half, but the play at
the end of the half was inexcusable. Like and that's
where Josh Allen very rarely leaves plays on the field.
He usually is a maximizer and that's what's disappointing is
he didn't do that in a big game.

Speaker 6 (20:35):
Sims. One of the strangest parts about that Bill's press
conference yesterday was the strays that Keon Coleman was taking.
Is that something if you're a Keon Coleman that you
come back from? Or is his time in Buffalo almost over?

Speaker 2 (20:47):
He caught a touchdown last week in a playoff games
and yeah.

Speaker 9 (20:50):
Yeah, right, he's got some work to do. I mean,
he knows where he stands. I mean, he hasn't lived
up to what he should be at this point, right.
I don't think he's handled himself like they truly want
as you know, a first round receiver and being a professional.
So all that's led to him not dressing in certain
games and doing all that. But I think the strays
are not and Kean Coleman shouldn't take it personal. The

(21:11):
strays are more about the big picture stuff we're talking about.
The Bills don't have a number one receiver. The Bills
don't have a number two receiver. They don't have a
one or a two.

Speaker 3 (21:24):
I mean they had digs and he shipped them out.

Speaker 6 (21:26):
I mean they had digs and digs. Again, even at
this point of his career. I know he was the
leading receiver to the pay. He's not a true number one.
He's a real good.

Speaker 9 (21:34):
Number two with the team and the Patriots who have
other twos and threes, and they focused the offense around him. Right,
So that's where, Yes, he was a number one early
on in his career, but that's what we're talking about.

Speaker 6 (21:47):
It's lack of those type of players.

Speaker 3 (21:50):
Right.

Speaker 9 (21:50):
Daldon kin kid was supposed to be a star. He's
been good, but he hasn't lived up to it.

Speaker 6 (21:55):
Right.

Speaker 9 (21:56):
Ed Oliver is supposed to be a star. He's been good. Again,
I'm not taking away from any of it. Like Brandon,
Bean's done.

Speaker 6 (22:01):
A lot of good.

Speaker 9 (22:03):
But I also sit here and stick up for Sean
McDermott and go, yeah, but the team is not nearly
as good as like we've talked about some of the
other teams that have been in the Super Bowl and
been in that window here the last few years.

Speaker 2 (22:15):
Chris, do you think Josh Allen has done it? How
does this work in the NFL? Because I think people
are fascinated by this.

Speaker 3 (22:20):
Do you think.

Speaker 2 (22:21):
Pagoula and Beat does Josh Allen have a saying whether
or not McDermott remains his head coach.

Speaker 9 (22:26):
I think if he went in there and was like,
you can't fire him, no way, don't do it right,
they wouldn't have done it. Okay one, But I know
Josh Allen well enough and been around him enough to
know that he's not into it. He wouldn't do either one.
I would be shocked. Right, He's gonna let the people
and the powers of be run the thing. I think
one of the reasons Josh Allen was crying so hard

(22:50):
act you got him fired, he knew he might get
fired exactly right.

Speaker 6 (22:54):
I mean, he's Josh Allen's not stupid.

Speaker 9 (22:56):
He's heard people like me on TV and Florio and
you guys and other people go, you know, if the
Bills don't get to the super Bowl, or if they
lose one of these first you know, wild card divisional round,
Sean McDermott might get fired. I mean that was going
around the NFL. I had been saying it. I mean, so,
you know, I think that's part of the emotional plea.

(23:18):
What you saw from Josh Allen after the game is
he knew not only did he let his team down
and he missed opportunities that he usually doesn't miss. I
think he also knew that this could lead to, yeah,
the head coach being fired.

Speaker 3 (23:29):
Am I crazy to think the Bill should hire Belichick?

Speaker 6 (23:34):
Yeah? I think you will, thank you, Okay, Yeah.

Speaker 9 (23:40):
I mean I wouldn't want to go that way at
this age where he's at. I mean, you know again, yes,
and there's just been some questionable decisions. I know he
could still coach ball, but there's just been other issues too,
you know, and also with the with Belichick, the problem
I think he'd have is just like, yeah, how many
good years does he have left if he goes up there?

Speaker 3 (24:02):
Right?

Speaker 9 (24:02):
I think a lot of coaches around the league and
they go like, is Bill gonna hang in there too long?
I don't know if I want to root my whole
family and then he retires two years from now, right, right,
So that doesn't I don't think that's the direction you
want to go.

Speaker 6 (24:14):
I don't.

Speaker 9 (24:15):
It feels like to me right now about it's gonna
be either Joe Brady the offensive coordinator or maybe Brian
Dayball that if he made me guess, I'd say it's
one of those two. As I sit here right now
on a Thursday talking to you.

Speaker 2 (24:26):
Guys, what can you tell Dolphin fans about Jeff Hafley.

Speaker 9 (24:29):
Hafley's a head coach. That's the one thing I'll tell you,
like no doubt about it. I always knew he'd be
a head coach and if you were around him, he's
that kind of personality that can command a room and
have relationships and be that guy and then his defense
is legit, right.

Speaker 6 (24:43):
I mean, he is one of.

Speaker 9 (24:44):
The better game plan specific defensive coordinators in all of football.
He can do it a lot of different ways. So
I think that's what's awesome about him. He's gonna bring
physicality to the crew. He's gonna bring smart defensive game
planning on a way week to week basis.

Speaker 8 (25:01):
Since your boy Florio put out a report that there's
a possibility Lamar Jackson could be intrigued by going to
the Raiders. And my question for you is, what kind
of gummy did you slip into his morning coffee to
make a decision?

Speaker 6 (25:15):
I have an agree. I mean I need to ask
him that. I got to ask him that, you know, hey,
could you get me one? I figured you already had
your own, so you were good.

Speaker 9 (25:26):
But either way, I mean, I was surprised to hear
that too, right, I was, you know, And I don't
know if it's just conjecture or theory or whatever. You know,
I certainly can believe that Lamar would love to get
to South Florida.

Speaker 6 (25:42):
I get that. It's gonna be interesting to me here
to see.

Speaker 9 (25:45):
How quickly Lamar wants to renegotiate or negotiate a new contract.

Speaker 3 (25:50):
Right.

Speaker 9 (25:51):
Steve Bushati was pretty clear in his press conference of
like I talked to Lamar. I told him we wanted
to get it done early. We can use the same
contract as before, except we'll just boost the numbers up
a little bit.

Speaker 6 (26:01):
Right, So, like, if Lamar really wants.

Speaker 9 (26:04):
To be in Baltimore, he's just gonna be like, hey,
let's do it, let's sign it, blah blah blah. But
if he delays a little bit and him's and Hawes like,
I don't know, and there is thought out there that
he'd like to go to South Florida, then my things like,
mike Y Eddy, your point is like, why would you
want to go to the Raiders right now? I mean
you know, I mean, Lamar, you'll be You'll be two
or three years older by the time they get the

(26:25):
team situated in the right spot. And that's where I
just can't imagine that that fancies Lamar Jackson.

Speaker 2 (26:31):
I'm interested in Jared Stidham and what's going to happen
here with a lot of people are comparing him to
what the Giants did with Jeff Hosteler, to which I keep.

Speaker 3 (26:38):
Saying, no, that's different.

Speaker 2 (26:39):
Your dad got hurt eleven games into the season, I think,
and Hosteler had five games before to kind of ramp
up and get ready for a playoff run.

Speaker 3 (26:47):
They eventually won the Super Bowl.

Speaker 2 (26:48):
This is a guy being thrust into the AFC Championship
game who.

Speaker 3 (26:52):
Hasn't played in a long time. There is no ramping
up here.

Speaker 2 (26:55):
He's gonna have to face the fire in the biggest
game of his life.

Speaker 3 (26:59):
Do you think he can pull it off? You know him,
Do you think he can pull it off?

Speaker 6 (27:02):
Well? I do think he can pull it off.

Speaker 9 (27:03):
You know, it's gonna take a team effort, right, You
can't got to break them into the game kind of
slowly early on. Their defense is gonna have to play
well and know that, hey, we got to buy our
quarterback some time to get in a little rhythm here, right.
We can't expect them to come out and just be like, oh,
seven for eight on the first drive for sixty yards
and a touchdown. I'd be shocked if that happened. Okay,

(27:25):
so yeah, it's but yeah, I think people are disregarding
the Broncos a little too strongly here. You know, they're
at home, they match up with the Patriots. The Patriots
have been shaky on the offensive side of the ball,
so to think that they can't win a defensive twenty
to seventeen type of football game, that's where I would
go watch out everybody right now, Like you said, there's

(27:47):
the hosteler thing where, Yeah, I think the Giants might
have been twelve and two or eleven and two when
my dad got hurt against the Buffalo Bills, and they
changed their offense a little bit. Right, My dad was
the number one passer and football that year. The Giants
were throwing the ball and being pretty aggressive, but they
had the ability to have a power running game too, right,
So you saw it. You remember you saw Super Bowl

(28:09):
twenty five. I mean, the Giants kind of down the
stretch just said we're gonna run the ball three out
of every four plays.

Speaker 6 (28:15):
We're gonna chew up clock.

Speaker 9 (28:17):
We got Belichick and these great defensive players, and we're
gonna kind of play that way. Now, I don't think
that Broncos can rely on their run game like that.
So you know, Stidham knows the offense, They're not gonna
have to hold back things. It's still gonna be about
getting him comfortable early on. And I think that's where
I look at it and go, yeah, I think they
got a fighting chance too. And then if their defense,

(28:38):
like you know, Drake Mays fumbled six times in two
games and he's starting two interceptions. He's not playing MVP
caliber football. He's been shaky. So if their defense can
recover one of those fumbles or get a pick or
all of that, and Stidham can just kind of stay
the course. Then you go, Yeah, the Broncos at home
with that decon, they upset the Patriots, of course they can,
no doubt about it.

Speaker 6 (29:00):
I was looking at divisional round qbrs and Drake May
had the lowest QBR of the quarterbacks that played the
divisional round. What have you seen from Drake May and
yse not playing at that MVP level that we saw
during the regular season.

Speaker 9 (29:14):
Well, he played two really good defenses and to have
a worse QBR than C. J. Stroud, I don't know
how that would be even be that tells you that
there's something wrong with how they do QBR. Right, we
don't need a QBR to go who played quarterback the
worst last weekend? But like what, there's something wrong with
the formula? Go back to the drawing board, Like are
you kidding me?

Speaker 6 (29:34):
That's crazy? Something said that that quarterback?

Speaker 3 (29:40):
I mean, it really is.

Speaker 9 (29:41):
That's unbelievable, Like challenge flag on that. But yes, he's
I respect Drake May because he's he really can keep
his eyes downfield and stay calm under pressure, right, but
a little too calm lately, Like come on, you know
you're playing the Chargers, you're playing Houston, like, you can't
just totally block it out. Gotta be a little aware
in the pocket of who you're playing against. And your

(30:03):
own team hasn't protected all that well as of late either,
So I feel like pocket presence has not been the best,
and he's been a little off throwing the football. I
know he had the two go routes down the sideline
in the game last week, right, he had that, and sure,
but there's been also another number of errant throws.

Speaker 6 (30:21):
So it's a little bit of everything.

Speaker 9 (30:23):
And that's again where you know, you look at this
and go, Denver's gonna feel like they can pressure him
a little bit. Denver's gonna go, hey, we got pat
certain he can take digs and then we could put
other guys and cover him that way. Right, So that's
where you give Denver the fighting chance. The only problem
is New England's gonna feel really good on the defensive
side of the ball. How they match up against Denver too.

(30:44):
They're gonna go, wait, oh, you want to run the ball.
Early on, we stopped the run and you're not that
good at running, Denver, Oh, you want to throw a
little short screen passes and stuff like that and get
going They're gonna go, We're gonna smother you and get
in your face.

Speaker 6 (30:57):
We're not really scared of it.

Speaker 9 (30:58):
Like Christian Gonzales is gonna take Cortland sudden, Carlton Davis
will take the receiver. On the other side, Marcus Jones
is one of the best nickels in all of football.
So I think they're gonna play the like, oh oh,
you think you're gonna run the ball and throw a
little quick passes to get Jared Stidham in a rhythm
early on.

Speaker 6 (31:14):
They're gonna go no, no, no, we're gonna take that away.

Speaker 9 (31:17):
They're gonna feel good about their matchup on that side
of the ball too. That's why I'm taking the Patriots
twenty four to seventeen. I know I got them covering
the spread, yeah, but like, I think it'll be a close,
tough fought football game where the Patriots kinna pull away late.

Speaker 3 (31:30):
All Right.

Speaker 2 (31:30):
The NFC Championship game Seahawks minus two and a half
against the Rams, What a great game. Can't wait to
see it. Donald Matthew Stafford. I think Stafford becomes a
storyline here and whether or not he could win a
second Super Bowl, or maybe it is Sam Darnold, who
has had his journeys and has found himself a home
in Seattle and now is one game away from the
Super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (31:49):
Who do you like here? It's minus two and a
half Seattle on Rams.

Speaker 6 (31:52):
I like Seattle.

Speaker 9 (31:53):
And now I say this in full transparency at the
part of the start of the playoffs, right, I always
do a playoff bracket every year. I had the Tech
and the Rams in the Super Bowl. But I'm not
going to just go, oh, well, I picked that three.

Speaker 6 (32:05):
Weeks ago, so I'm sticking with it.

Speaker 9 (32:06):
No, I'm not. I'm going to evaluate the situation a
little bit. Seattle's as hot as anybody in the sport
right now on both sides of the ball. I mean,
so I just look at that, and then I think,
out of the four teams we have left in the playoffs,
Seattle's roster is the most talented. And then you couple
that with the Rams, who I don't think have played
their best ball really ever since maybe the first three

(32:28):
quarters of that week sixteen Thursday night game up there
in Seattle. That's where I kind of favor Seattle in
this one. But am I scared about Sam Donald Their
first time in this kind of experience. Yes, and the
Rams have been there, done that, and they're not going
to be intimidated by playing up in Seattle because they've
been there and done that. Yeah, that's where it's scary.
But where I do think it's different for Sam Donald

(32:50):
that's compared to Minnesota, is you know, Minnesota played a
style of football where they're like, hey, we want you
to throw for three hundred yards.

Speaker 6 (32:57):
That's what we do. We don't run the ball.

Speaker 9 (32:59):
We want to throw and throw and throw, and we
got these two receivers and we're gonna throw to them.

Speaker 6 (33:03):
See, Seattle doesn't give a damn. They don't.

Speaker 9 (33:05):
And you know, Seattle needs to continue to run the ball,
and they don't run the ball enough really if you
look at it and the way they move and open
up holes. But they have to do that and rely
on their defense, and I think that takes pressure off
of Sam Donald. So that's where I like, you know,
Sam Donald, not to choke under pressure. We know they're
capable of big plays on the offensive side of the ball.

(33:26):
The Rams defense has not been playing real good lately.
I mean you saw it. I mean, I know the
Bears didn't score a lot of points, but they kind
of went up and down the field on the Rams
throughout the football game.

Speaker 6 (33:35):
Yeah, right, so I worry about that.

Speaker 9 (33:38):
But on the same token, you know, I know McVeigh
and Stafford can get hot and maybe put up some points,
but I still feel like I'd be shocked. The way
the Seahawks defense has played since that first three quarters
against the Rams has been as good as anybody in
the NFL.

Speaker 2 (33:53):
I love people saying there's no dominant team in the
NFL and there are three teams holding up their hands going, hey,
we're fourteen to three with a chance to go to
the super Bowl.

Speaker 6 (34:00):
I know it is, it's funny.

Speaker 9 (34:02):
It's just it's you know, I think it's it's kind
of what we're talking about is none of these quarterbacks
make you feel warm and cozy yet.

Speaker 3 (34:09):
Right.

Speaker 9 (34:09):
We all know Drake may is gonna be awesome and
is awesome already, but it's still his first time here,
and then it's Stid him, and it's Sam Darnold.

Speaker 6 (34:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (34:16):
So there's a lot of young and lack of experience
in these type of situations here, and I think that's where,
you know, we've looked at these teams and gone, ah,
you know, they're not maybe as great as some of
the great teams have passed.

Speaker 6 (34:28):
But it's a defensive year and you got what three.

Speaker 9 (34:31):
Out of the four top scoring defenses in football going
against each other. And that's what we're seeing here, and
I think that's where these quarterbacks can't forget you know
what got them there.

Speaker 3 (37:13):
Is that Monica mcnutt's voice I heard there?

Speaker 2 (37:15):
Yes, Yes, listen, that's how you do a get right game.
By the way, a tail of the players only meeting worked.
How about that?

Speaker 6 (37:22):
Yeah, some conflicting reports there. Because Josh Hart was asked
about it after the gaming, he goes, I don't know
where you guys got that. We didn't have a meeting.
We might have just talked in the locker room.

Speaker 3 (37:31):
What the heck do you think of meeting? Is right?
A talk where the coaches there?

Speaker 6 (37:36):
But when does a talk go from a talk to
a meeting?

Speaker 3 (37:39):
When Jalen Brunson says it's a meeting, that's it. I
mean it worked. Who cares? They blow him out? All right?

Speaker 2 (37:45):
Dan, stay here for a second. Because you're a professional,
you pronounce everything right. Is it Roberts or Rogue?

Speaker 3 (37:50):
There? The guy the mass trading? Are you answer that question? Well?
Do we know the player's first name? Luis? Okay, so
that's maybe a hint.

Speaker 2 (37:59):
Yes, Now, Taylor this morning said Luis Robert, and he
was corrected by Salacato on our podcast. He said it
is Luise Robert Jr. And I am going to Dan Byer.
Whatever he says, it sticks. Dan, I've said, Robert really devastating.

Speaker 3 (38:14):
I've heard nothing but Robert. I'll tell you what.

Speaker 10 (38:19):
For a guy for years, I couldn't remember if it
was Devers or Devers, you know, with Raphael Devers, but Robert,
I've stuck with Robert. I've been on the side of
Robert for the last season or so.

Speaker 2 (38:31):
So let me ask you a question, Dan, because I
used to do updates and I'm wondering, is there a
name that you're terrified of? Is you see it on
the update? You know you have to put it down there. Yeah,
to mention that name and you're terrified of it.

Speaker 10 (38:41):
Two huge names. And this may date me a little bit.
I didn't call their scores, but Jerry Rice with the
double rs like it was like it would be Jerry Weiss,
like that's what it would come out with, Arnold Palmer
with the double l's, and then always messing up Russell
Westbrook with Russell Wilson, Kevin Garnett, Kevin Durant. Those are
the those are the ones.

Speaker 2 (39:02):
But you hate when the tennis majors are going on,
right like that, that's not That's.

Speaker 10 (39:05):
Why you only say Novak Djokovic advanced to the third round.

Speaker 3 (39:09):
That's the easiest way to get through it. Or the joker. Yes, yes,
that's even better.

Speaker 5 (39:14):
Taylor, How shocked are you that Stu Gatz used to
do updates when he can't do the most basic of
names his own friends names.

Speaker 6 (39:21):
Yeah, at this point, nothing really surprises me with Steve
Gotts in his background and just to just to tile
loose end board up Ricardo back here. Yeah, he said
he's Cuban and it's Robert.

Speaker 3 (39:32):
Thank you. Wow.

Speaker 5 (39:33):
I know, but there's never been a Hispanic person in
the history of time named Lewis Robert.

Speaker 9 (39:37):
Right.

Speaker 3 (39:38):
It doesn't make any sense.

Speaker 10 (39:39):
I know, But damn buyer says it's Robert. If he
was l O U I s, would you be more
apt to think that it was Robert.

Speaker 2 (39:45):
Yes, such a great point by you. If it was
spelled the tribute, well I should say the traditional way,
but l O U I s, yes, Luis Robert.

Speaker 3 (39:54):
Would make sad. Lewis Robert. Yes, that is exactly what's
going on here. So who do we go with? I'm confused.
I'm not certain who's right. Do we go with the
Cuban or the American?

Speaker 2 (40:10):
Eight seven seven ninety nine on Foss. We'll get to
your calls in a second. Is he wants to play
an NBA game? By the way, my agent texted me
and he said that Tom Flores one two with Jim Plunkett.
It's not bad, my agent, Lou, Thank you, Lou, appreciate
it is he wants to play an NBA game.

Speaker 3 (40:27):
So I walked outside for a second during the break.

Speaker 2 (40:29):
I came back in and what I found is he
doing was muttering under his breath about the Offensive.

Speaker 3 (40:34):
Player of the Year award.

Speaker 5 (40:36):
What I feel like I'm sabotaging my own game here,
But I looked at it right, and it's it's just
brought back anger that I woke up with today when
I saw the NFL MVP finalist and the Offensive Player
of the Year finalists, and it's like.

Speaker 3 (40:50):
What are those awards?

Speaker 5 (40:52):
So the MVP's, you know, the finalists are include Drake May,
include obviously Matthew Stafford and all the other quarterbacks, and
then Christian McCaffrey.

Speaker 3 (41:02):
And then there's Offensive Player of the Year.

Speaker 5 (41:04):
And Drake May is an Offensive Player of the Year,
but none of the other quarterbacks are an Offensive Player
of the Year.

Speaker 3 (41:09):
So remind me what side of the ball do quarterbacks play? Offense?

Speaker 5 (41:13):
So how are you the Offensive Player of the Year
and not the MVP, or if you are the MVP,
I'm sorry. If you're not the MVP, like Drake May
probably won't be, he'll be second. How is he even
a candidate for Offensive Player of the What do you
mean it makes no sense?

Speaker 8 (41:29):
Uh huh, because best player that doesn't play quarterback is
too long.

Speaker 5 (41:35):
But he's a quarterback and he's on the Offensive Player
of the Year list and he's not the best quarterback
on the MVP list.

Speaker 3 (41:43):
So what does that mean?

Speaker 5 (41:44):
Does Matthew Stafford do something to make him the MVP
that does not involve offense? Because somehow Drake May already
just based on the nominations, is a better offensive player
than Matthew Stafford, and somehow Matthew Stafford is going to
be the MVP.

Speaker 2 (42:02):
Yeah, hey, guys, look what care means? Hey guys, look
who cares about football?

Speaker 3 (42:06):
Now?

Speaker 5 (42:06):
I don't care about football. I care about things that
make sense, and that makes no sense.

Speaker 6 (42:11):
This was also in my show Prep too, So this
is the pot calling the kettle black right now because
he went to a topic straight off my topic. List
your thoughts, Taylor, just give all the awards to Drake May.

Speaker 2 (42:25):
I mean, it's stupid, but why do you care so
much about this stuff? I don't care about it.

Speaker 3 (42:30):
It's just like saying running back of the Year versus
Rusher of the Year. It's this.

Speaker 5 (42:37):
It should be the same thing so if you want
to exclude quarterbacks from Offensive Player of the Year, I'm
fine with that. But don't include the second place dude
from the MVP quarterback group into the Offensive Player of.

Speaker 3 (42:50):
The Year group. It makes no sense.

Speaker 2 (42:53):
I promise we'll get to what is He's NBA game.
He's unhinged right now. Let's go to Lenny and Fort Wayne.

Speaker 3 (42:58):
Lenny, go ahead, Hi, this is Lenny from Fort Wayne.
We established that.

Speaker 2 (43:04):
I just want to say that the.

Speaker 1 (43:05):
Twenty five Hoosiers are so special because they won every
game and they won all the playoff games.

Speaker 10 (43:10):
Thanks, I'll hang up in Leonards.

Speaker 3 (43:12):
That's a great call, Lenny.

Speaker 6 (43:14):
Who was that?

Speaker 5 (43:15):
Way to go, Leonard, Just just to recap, the Hoosas
are so special because they won every game.

Speaker 3 (43:23):
Yes, and they won every playoff Taylor, do we have
to get Benny from Fort Lauderdale? Do you we have
to get that call right? Because that was Lenny. Lenny,
it's a totally different person. Oh yeah, but I love
that so much. God, thank you for making me smile, sir.

Speaker 2 (43:38):
This is therapy for me. Every day two hours. I'm
gonna laugh with my friends. I'm gonna laugh with the listeners,
laugh with the callers, and you guys are gonna pull
me through a difficult time. Let's go to Murray. We'll
get to your NBA game in a second. Here, Marry,
it's Sue Falls.

Speaker 3 (43:52):
Go ahead, Murray, Hey, so Taylor, Mike years do you
love you?

Speaker 2 (43:57):
Guys?

Speaker 6 (43:57):
Murray here first time, long time off of my.

Speaker 3 (44:00):
Car Foonde here at two Falls, still waiting on you
to visit. Maybe the subburst too. Good question before you
got how do you pronounce that wide receiver's day from
the Seahawks? How do you sell it? They sell? Hang
up and listen? Love you by all right?

Speaker 2 (44:14):
I want away, Yes, I want all calls to be
like the last two, please all of them.

Speaker 3 (44:18):
That was a specific question for you, sir. I'm not
answering that question. Come on, Mikey, you want to take
that question, go ahead. I don't think Mikey can say
his name as well as you can.

Speaker 8 (44:28):
No, I'm good.

Speaker 2 (44:29):
Jackson, Jackson Smith and Jigba Okay, it's odd that I
could say that name.

Speaker 3 (44:35):
And guys, please get the Eddie ericson.

Speaker 2 (44:37):
Sunds here for them the first segment because I too
mispronounced words.

Speaker 3 (44:42):
I do it often.

Speaker 2 (44:43):
I'm probably the greatest to ever do it. Uh, here's
me trying to say my friend's name who I know.
It was an easy name to say, and I've known
him for fifteen years. Head said, and perhaps Eddie wow,
I et a roadblock that hurt my throat one more time,
you literally and perhaps any other I joked on the eight,

(45:06):
the second eight. It sounds like you ate a roadblock
in the middle of that. I told you yesterday we're
not professional except for Ezy. I mean that's about it.
I mean, I desperately want to play your NBA game.
I'm not certain you left us enough time here in the.

Speaker 3 (45:23):
Uh, it's my fault. I was strictly going by Taylor
show sheet.

Speaker 9 (45:27):
Here.

Speaker 2 (45:28):
Do you want to play the NBA game? I am
happy to play your game. Go ahead, take it away.

Speaker 3 (45:32):
Let's do well. Do we have enough time here?

Speaker 6 (45:34):
Should we just be doing?

Speaker 3 (45:34):
We have plenty of times?

Speaker 5 (45:35):
Okay, Well, it's not really a game necessarily, right, But
if you think about sort of when trade activity is
most likely in the NBA, it's when teams feel like
the championship is up for grabs. Sometimes it could happen
in an off season where you look forward and you
look ahead and say, man, there really isn't that many

(45:57):
great teams. Let me see if I can make a
big move, have a big three whatever, see if we
can win a championship.

Speaker 3 (46:01):
Or it could happen in the middle of the season.

Speaker 5 (46:03):
I'm trying not to look at Mikey as he taps
his catcher's mitt, trying to distract me at all costs.
You know, when you look at approaching the trade deadline
and there's some people available, and you think, wow, I
could really elevate ourselves and become the champion this year.

Speaker 6 (46:19):
And so.

Speaker 5 (46:22):
You say all that to look around and say, does
this feel like a season where the championship is up
for grabs? And so the game I just want to
play with you. It's a very simple game. I think
even you would be all over this game. Does this
team feel like.

Speaker 3 (46:37):
An NBA champion?

Speaker 5 (46:38):
All right, all right, it's a fun game, Taylor, easy
for you. Mikey, you can pat that mitt all you want.
I think you can play this game as well.

Speaker 3 (46:44):
No, I love this game. That's one of the building
blocks of sports radio. Yes, we'll start with this. This
is a very easy answer here.

Speaker 5 (46:50):
They won it last year. Do the OKAC Thunder feel
like an NBA champion, Yes, of course. Okay, we're at one.
The San Antonio Spurs with a young Victor Wembinyama who
you probably don't know. This still on somewhat of a
minute's restriction twenty eight to thirty minutes. Did the San
Antonio Spurs in twenty twenty six feel like an NBA champion?

Speaker 3 (47:13):
Umm, I'm gonna say yes, Mikey. What do you think the.

Speaker 8 (47:18):
Bear had us bet them to beat the Knicks in
the finals, So I'm gonna have to say.

Speaker 3 (47:23):
Yes, yes, Taylor, Yes, yeah, Okay.

Speaker 5 (47:26):
Having watched them play a good amount, I don't think
they feel like an NBA champion. I feel like Victor
Wenbinyama can give it to you certain nights, but four
out of seven in the playoffs when teams are committed
to defending him, and it's not just a one off
of eighty two, yep.

Speaker 3 (47:41):
I don't think they're ready yet.

Speaker 5 (47:42):
They do not feel as a veteran NBA person, They
don't feel personally like an NBA champion. But I'll give
you those two. Okay, let's go to the top of
the East. Okay, the Detroit Pistons, who I'm pretty sure
you've spent.

Speaker 3 (47:53):
A little bit of time watching. I have Jalen Duran
on my fantasy team, so I'm not saying I watched them.
I've looked at box scores. Do they feel like an
NBA champion?

Speaker 6 (48:02):
Now?

Speaker 2 (48:02):
Do the Pistons feel like an NBA champion? One seed
in the East. I have to talk this out. Thirty
two and ten one four straight? No, Jason Tatum. Do
they feel like an NBA champion or a team that
can make it to the NBA five champion That would
have been a better game.

Speaker 3 (48:18):
Just champion. Do the Pistons feel like a champion? I'm
saying no, no, Jason Tatum. Just to be clear, Jayson
Tatum does not play for the Pistons.

Speaker 6 (48:26):
The right, Jason Tatum. They don't have Jason Tatum.

Speaker 2 (48:29):
Yes, the Celtics don't have Jason Well, I met the Celtics.
I almost called you, but you know what, I almost
called you. By the way, Jason Tatum is not I
have to talk these things out. Let me do it
my way, okay, But I.

Speaker 5 (48:40):
Just want you to know it's not can they win
an NBA title this year? That's a different game.

Speaker 2 (48:46):
But part of winning one is getting there. And so
I have to convince myself they can get there before
I tell you they can win it.

Speaker 5 (48:51):
Do they feel like an NBA champion doesn't really matter
about anybody else?

Speaker 3 (48:55):
Are we gonna do this for twenty seven other teams?
I mean, this is what I told you we didn't have,
all right, I'm.

Speaker 2 (49:00):
Gonna say no on the Pistons. All right, I'm gonna
say no, well, hold on, Mikey, yes or no on
the Pistons.

Speaker 3 (49:05):
I agree, no, yeah, Taylor, No.

Speaker 5 (49:07):
The Pistons don't and let's just go to your other team, Okay,
the Celtics Celtics.

Speaker 3 (49:11):
Yes, we already established.

Speaker 5 (49:14):
No Jason Tatum, although he looks pretty good when he's
practicing and stuff. I'm not sure where he's at right now,
but he's gonna be back the Celtics. Do they feel
like an NBA champ?

Speaker 3 (49:24):
Not to me, No, Taylor.

Speaker 6 (49:26):
I could buy into this team because of Jayalen Brown.
He could buy into it, so I would say a
different game. It's a yes or no game into it
or right or different games. I do have a feeling
that they could.

Speaker 3 (49:38):
So that's what that was.

Speaker 2 (49:40):
Just the top two teams in each comp hold on,
we left out Mikey A, Mikey A and he's shaking
his head and discussed at Taylor.

Speaker 6 (49:45):
I think, no, it's the Celtics. They always feel like
a champion.

Speaker 8 (49:49):
It's one of those teams like, yeah, you could convince
me this is a this is a championship team, but.

Speaker 3 (49:54):
What what facts do give us?

Speaker 9 (49:56):
Though?

Speaker 5 (49:57):
No, Jason Tata, right, So this team needed Tatum to
win a championship and now they don't have them and
even if he comes back will be the same. But
I don't believe they feel like an NBA champion. The
point being if you look around the league and any
team that I didn't name right there now this is
without Denver, without Jokic.

Speaker 3 (50:15):
If they had Jokics, they could feel like an NBA champion,
they would feel like an NBA championship.

Speaker 5 (50:19):
But all of these teams that even the ones that
we did mention, could look to themselves and say, we
can solidify ourselves as an NBA champion, faith championship favorite
with one move, And I feel like you look around,
I think eventually people are going to maybe say, okay,
maybe we'll give up a little bit for John Morant, right,
as opposed to just trying to give away scraps for him.
You look at what's happening in Milwaukee now, and maybe

(50:41):
we'll play sound of Janna Santatakoupo saying is all his
teammates are playing selfishly. A little later, but that move
while he's not demanding a trade publicly. According to Brian Winhorse, anyway,
the hour by hour we get closer and closer to him.

Speaker 3 (50:54):
Making a move.

Speaker 5 (50:55):
It feels like because of that whole concept of hey,
this this championship remains up for grabs no matter how
much we think, okayc should be a favorite. I think
you're going to start to see a lot of activity
and people really pushing for the for the Giannis trade
to happen, and even for a John Morant trade.

Speaker 3 (51:11):
Why did you try out one more team on me
and Taylor? Just one more team? Just ask us, ask
us the team. Okay? Do the New York Knicks feel
like an NBA chip? Hell yeah?

Speaker 6 (51:22):
Add to that Cup championship, the first.

Speaker 3 (51:25):
Team ever to win the Cup and the NBA Championship
in the same season. About that, it's so crazy.

Speaker 5 (51:30):
Even in Milwaukee, they're they're trying to convince themselves that
their buyers like you talk to, you know whatever, the
beat writers or people over there, it's like, no, we
have Giannis, we add one more piece, we do this,
we can win a championship this year.

Speaker 6 (51:42):
And it just it.

Speaker 3 (51:43):
I think it's going to set up for some some
crazy discussions at the very least,
