Stewart is smarter than the rest of us. He's such
a curmudgeon and such a negative dude about the Dodgers
(00:49):
that when the Dodgers lose, jayste wins. When the Dodgers win,
jaste wins. I mentioned it because he always thinks something
bad is gonna happen with the Dodgers. Last night, something
did happen. Oh yeah, By the way, despite the fact
they were down big early, plenty of opportunities even late
to score some runs where the Dodgers just left too
(01:11):
many and then how good, how good was the Mets closer?
You talk about just gas gas gas gas gas gas. Anyway,
we'll get to some baseball upcoming. Let's get to the
story of the day here on the Doug out Lib
Show on Fox Sports Radio. That's the DeVante Adams is
now in New York Jet This coming the day after
(01:33):
the Jets lose to the Bills, and really like as
much as we can sit there and go, Aaron Rodgers
was to gate through two interceptions. They also had a
field goal kicker and missed two absolute bunnies. And you know,
you give away six points in a game that close,
and it doesn't matter what you do. But I thought
it was interesting. You know, you have Aaron Rodgers on
(01:53):
on his Pat McAfee hit on ESPN, and here's what happened.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
Yeah, we're back, man, We're back. And I'm feeling great, man,
feeling great. Getting you know, I was working with the
with the staff over in Vegas the whole time and
they got me back right, so you know, fortunately I'll
be able to roll. And I'm sure there's a few
new you know, you know, a little nuances, but for
the most part, a lot of the same verbage instead
the same og right here, so you should be able
(02:22):
to pick up where we left off.
Speaker 1 (02:24):
So that's Davante at Aaron Rodgers house, apartment whatever, doing
the hit. Here's Aaron Rodgers on what Davante brings to
the table.
Speaker 3 (02:31):
Obviously really excited loveday. He's a phenomenal player and a
dear friend. He was a crappy day yesterday. Obviously we
had a real good chance to get to three and
three and win a home game.
Speaker 4 (02:43):
Kind of gave that one away.
Speaker 3 (02:45):
I was pissed driving home through traffic, had a couple
of messages. I was just not in the mood to
talk to anybody. Got home and Ted called me, so
I finally called him back.
Speaker 1 (02:55):
And it's about twelve.
Speaker 3 (02:57):
To forty five last last night.
Speaker 1 (02:59):
I heard the news, So twelve forty five last night. Though,
here's what's amazing, okay, And look it all makes sense
to me. Do I think a third that's going to
be a second is an overpay?
Speaker 5 (03:11):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (03:11):
And I think Tom Telusco did really good because there
wasn't a lot of interest out there. I think to
get Devanta Adams no matter how good he's been his
career with that money, and the Jets are taking all
the money. But it makes sense, like, look, if you're
going to save the season, like you're going to actually
try and win this year. And you got Davonta Adams
and he has a great relationship with Aaron Rodgers. Now
(03:32):
you have two elite wide receivers. Like that's great. Now
does Aaron Rodgers look like the Aaron Rodgers of old? No?
Speaker 5 (03:39):
Do.
Speaker 1 (03:39):
I think Devanta Adams helps it some, but more he
doesn't move like he used to and that used to
be one of his superpowers. But really, what you have
heard and what you have seen only proves that Aaron
was completely lying last week when he told us that
Woody Johnson called him after they got home from London
(04:01):
to see how he was doing, but didn't tell him
he was going to fire the head coach, right, didn't
tell him because it just nothing about this makes sense
if that was the case, right, Nothing about it makes sense? Zero,
(04:26):
zero sense, hey none, Because again, let's walk you through
it really quickly. That's all I gotta do is walk
you through it. So Aaron Rodgers was always upset at
the Packers because the Packers let his boys go right.
(04:47):
Remember when he kind of basically aired his grievances, it
was over so many not just Jordy Nelson, but plenty
of other guys who they had allowed to walk. And
when they drafted Jordan Love, he was again outwardly he
said he was most upset that he wasn't given a
heads up. I think partially upset that they didn't go
(05:09):
after like A T. Higgins would have been available there
or whatever. But the Packers drafted a quarterback who became
available late. They traded up to get him, and Aaron said,
I didn't know. So when you have a guy who
has that, that's classic trust issues, right, trust issues. And
you get Aaron Rodgers and you tell Aaron Rodgers, hey man,
(05:30):
you're going to be a part of this process. And
Aaron Rodgers has been allowed to recruit his former quarterback
coach to be his offensive coordinator now back to being
a non play caller, and several other teammates and now
DeVante Adams. So Aaron Rodgers has a say in the
room with Joe Douglas in terms of who he thinks
(05:52):
Joe Douglas should be, should should have to support him,
which is great, But again, the big lie is that
Aaron Rodgers was unwilling to own up to the fact.
At minimum, there's no way that Woody Johnson didn't tell
(06:12):
him he was going to fire Robert Salah. None, that's
a minimum. So if he didn't want to happen, he
could have said it didn't want to happen. Now, what
he really should have done is because it's pretty obvious
that he didn't think Robert Sala was a championship level coach,
what he should have said was, Hey, Woody and I talked.
(06:36):
I've played on championship teams. I've played for Mike McCarthy.
You know, I've played a long time in the grave
of Packers organization. I feel like I know what works
and what doesn't work. It wasn't working, and would he
chose to move on? That would be honesty. But the
guy who wants to tell us that everybody else is
lying there's a conspiracy behind it, is still unwilling to
(06:58):
tell the hard truth. And again, I if I'm totally canting,
like no one has ever done that, right, Magic Johnson
has never owned up to firing Paul Westhead. Larry Bird
never really owned up to firing Bill Fitch. Michael Jordan
never really owned up to getting Doug Collins fired. Lebron
(07:20):
James has never really owned up to getting David Blatt fired. Right,
and you go through NFL coaches, same thing, Okay, same thing.
I mean, Kobe, God Rest his soul. He got Mike
Brown fired. And I'm sure he got Mike Brown fired.
Not because Brown's not a great dude.
Speaker 6 (07:38):
He is.
Speaker 1 (07:39):
He was a running offense, didn't fit and it was
just bad. And he's just like, hey, this isn't working.
And Kobe has the equity to do it, but no
one has done that. Aaron Rodgers claims to be this
honest salesman that he's willing to say what no one
else does want.
Speaker 5 (07:54):
To say except for this.
Speaker 1 (07:57):
So do I love the DeVante thing? I love for
the Raiders. That's the sinking ship that's very likely to
be a second round pick, and a high second round
pick considering where the Jets currently sit. Plus it gets
all that money off of their books. That's a great
trade as they continue to try and start over yet again.
For the Jets, it's probably the best possible solution offensively, right.
(08:21):
It's because if you bring in somebody that doesn't know Aaron,
he doesn't trust. It's a waste. It doesn't actually matter.
Even bringing in an offensive lineman that's not really going
to help at this point in time because they haven't
played together. Now you have two legit, big time pass
catch options and a running back you can catch it
out of the backfield. Aaron has to be better. Feugal
kicker has to be better. But it does make them better.
(08:42):
Does it solve their problems?
Speaker 5 (08:44):
Probably not right.
Speaker 1 (08:44):
They're trying to trade a Son Reddick and get some
sort of pass rush like we'll see where that one sits.
I think the Raiders won the trade, but the Jets
trade makes sense because they've gone all in on Aeron.
The only thing that doesn't make sense and is nearly
impossible to believe is at Aaron Rodgers. It wasn't at
(09:04):
least run by him, let alone. He didn't have a
say in the firing of Robert Solom.
Speaker 7 (09:09):
This is the best of the Don dot Lead Show

take back, but I have to encourage you. This is
I've obviously been through some a lot of therapy. I
gotta tell you if you if you hold onto these things,
if you harbor regret, right, if you harbor these ial feelings,
(09:57):
it builds up and builds up, But if you get
it out, it's really healthy. So once a week we
let Dan Byer get out all his remorse.
Speaker 5 (10:07):
We call it buyer's remorse.
Speaker 1 (10:10):
Some have remorse.
Speaker 8 (10:11):
I am deeply sorry for my irresponsible and selfish behavior
I engaged, but.
Speaker 7 (10:17):
There's nothing quite like buyer's remorse.
Speaker 1 (10:22):
Did it be?
Speaker 8 (10:23):
Doug? Two topics on the agenda today. One of those
will not be how loud Greg zerlines missed field goal
off the upright sounded last night? My goodness, I was
kind of dozing off in that work too, Yes, me too.
Speaker 1 (10:36):
This is what happened. It's so funny, So uh my house,
I have so no's And because I had cranked it
away up because I was listening to baseball game. I
was slipping back and forth, and then I got a
phone call and I was looking through some notes and
I hung up on the phone. I was looking down.
They would go to field kick the field, going like, oh,
he's gonna make that, and then the doink actually jarred
(10:58):
me as well. It's like, oh my god, he missed it.
Speaker 8 (11:00):
I was kind of in a half little doze off
for a second, and it completely woke me up. I
wish I was awaken on Sunday morning to realize the
error that I was about to make. In a week
where now hindsight is every favorite except one was victorious
this past weekend, not against the spread necessarily, but at
(11:20):
least straight up the only underdog to win the game,
with the Indianapolis Colts going to Tennessee and beating the Titans.
I for some reason, and my stupid thinking was like, Yeah,
the Cowboys are gonna ride that momentum. Lion's a little
rusty off of the by. No, that's not how it works,
Dan Lions arrested. Cowboys just played this dogfight on Sunday
(11:44):
night in Pittsburgh and are still without Micah Parsons into
Marcus Lawrence for some reason, I thought that the Cowboys
were going to be that team that pulled the upset.
That is my ultimate buyer's remorse from Week six of
the NFL season. It was not good. I don't know
why in the world I would ever think to Big
Dallas in that situation, but I did. And I've got
(12:06):
one more buyer's remorse. You're ready for this. This one
I'm sorry about because I'm not sorry and I may
still be bitter from Ohio State's loss to Oregon on
Saturday night. But college football, can you put tens of
a second on a clock? Finally? Like this is now
becoming an issue. I'm not saying Will Howard would have
been down in time, but there could have been an
(12:28):
opportunity where maybe there is a tenth of a second.
We're allowing snaps in football to be snapped on the
play play excuse me? Play clock is double zero, and
it will allow teams to now be like, all right,
is it the lay of game or not? We're allowing
this pause because guess what, there could be tens of
a second left in the play clock. Let's put tens
(12:49):
of a second on the clock in college football and
in the NFL will truly have a real clock when
it comes to these games.
Speaker 1 (12:56):
How much for morse? Do you think Neil Brown has
over what he said fresh conference? Did you hear what
he said? I didn't, No, Brown, they lost, and he said,
and I'm I'm paraphrasey now, but did they have fun? Right?
The game was close? Did they have fun? Like? He
(13:17):
literally sounded like a soccer mom.
Speaker 8 (13:21):
I don't go over wall in West Virginia?
Speaker 1 (13:24):
Yeah, it went over like a lead balloon? Did did?
Speaker 4 (13:29):
Did?
Speaker 5 (13:30):
Did?
Speaker 1 (13:30):
Did they have fun? I can only tell you that
I feel like I have. I'm like the greatest Oklahoma
State alum football fan ever, Like I remember how bad
it was and right now it feels like they're on
a track to finish below five hundred first time since
Mike Gundy's first season. Okay, that said, I loved my school,
(13:51):
that program, what Mike has done for it, and so
I have the balance of understanding with this. But I
would never say it was fun to go to a
game you may played West Virginia. I saw a lot
of people, My son sat there, we watched the game together.
Whatever was it fun? Hell? It was a miserable experience.
Neil Brown?
Speaker 5 (14:07):
Did they have fun. I bet he has some remorse there.
Speaker 1 (14:13):
It's the Doug Gotlieb Show here on Fox Sports Radio.
Mike Sando joins us Mike's NFL scene writer for the Athletic.
He joins in the Doug gotlib Show on Fox Sports Radio.
I know they have injuries, but what a debacle in Dallas?
Is there is there any fixing this thing?
Speaker 9 (14:33):
Well, they did play, by the way, Hi, Doug, good
to be here. They did play back to back primetime
hard fought, slog slug it out games, and then they
played Detroit, who's coming off of a bye, and I think,
if you can't stop the run, Detroit is going to
kill you. And we've seen that before. So even the
(14:54):
disappointing thing to me from a Dallas standpoint is they
didn't get anything going offensively. Think if you go back
the week before the Lion game before, they did the
same thing to Seattle's defense, but Seattle was at least,
you know, they had thirty eight first downs. They were
taking advantage of a Detroit defense that isn't that great.
That's the hard part for me, is just a sluggishness
(15:16):
of it. I don't think they have the personnel defensively
to be good against the run. That's been a big
concern of theirs, So they're going to be vulnerable. Look,
if you're in the NFC and you get to the playoffs,
which Dallas still could, I mean they could still be
a nine to eight ten seven type team. That's not
going to be a huge shock if they do it.
But you're going to probably have to play Detroit or
(15:37):
San Francisco then, and those teams are going to carve
you up running the ball. So I don't see how
Dallas gets past where they've been. Even if they do,
you know, right the season to look better than they
had the last couple of weeks.
Speaker 1 (15:50):
Last night was a huge game in the ANFC East,
and then today the Jets make the trade for Devonte Adams.
I think that the easiest question why they make it,
it's why they wait till after the game to make it.
Speaker 9 (16:05):
Well, I think that the psychology of owners here, which
what did Johnson this is? You know, I'm not well,
I'm not a psychiatrist, so I can't probably do this professionally,
but I would just say that I think you have
to convince the owner you're good enough for them to
make a move to trade, and that offense had been
(16:26):
so bad that I think it could have been harder
to make a case internally, hey we should mortgage even
more of our future because this is going to make
a difference. And I think you saw at least last night. Okay, Look,
it was a sloppy game, a lot of penalties, but
the offense looked better. It looked like, hey, you know,
maybe if we added Avante Adams, we can be in
the mix, which I think they can. I think they
(16:48):
you know, Rogers has to be able to hold up physically,
which is my biggest concern, but the second half of
their schedule, the defenses they play, it's kind of on
the table for them. I think in a year when
you know Jacksonville's down, Cincinnati isn't hot yet, to maybe
get in and still have the season they want to have.
Speaker 1 (17:07):
Okay, I guess the question is Aaron Rodgers still have
the goods?
Speaker 9 (17:14):
I think yes, I do think he does. I'm concerned
about his ability to hold up though. There's been too
many plays where he's taken a blindside hit or a
hit that he's not expecting, and that is concerning to me.
I think you can see as the course of the
game goes on, he gets up a little slower. He
just has a little bit of an old guy look
(17:35):
to him, right, and he can't quite maneuver and get
out of the way of stuff as well as he
could before. So that's concerning. But when he's able to
throw the ball, and they did some quicker throws yesterday,
I think he throws it wonderfully.
Speaker 1 (17:52):
Okay, if it doesn't work, what's the likely that Aaron
Rodgers comes.
Speaker 5 (17:57):
Back next year?
Speaker 9 (17:59):
I would say very low. I think as you take
the you see him take these hits over the course
of the season, I think it's this season. This is it,
and you know it would it just can't see it
working another year. You know, if it goes great and
then make a deep push, that's probably good enough. And
if it doesn't, that's probably enough information to know. Let's
(18:23):
not you know, sign up for this another year.
Speaker 1 (18:25):
Stug Gottlieb Show here on Fox Sports Trail. That's the
voice of Mike Sando. Of course, Mike talented writer for
the Athletic cover the National Football League for a long time.
I do want to just kind of pick your brain
on the Dolphins. Right two is going to come back.
We've been told at some point this year, like can
they make any contingency plans because it feels like one
(18:47):
more ding and that's it.
Speaker 9 (18:50):
Yeah, that's probably the time to do. That would be before
the season, when you're looking when you have a quarterback
that you're paying all this money to and then you
subtract Mike White and you base to go with no
type of a backup. So we're going to make a
trade here at some point to get a backup who's
going to come in and maybe not even know your
system will see. But I think that decision needed to
(19:12):
be made before the year, knowing full well that he's
one injury away from this happening. So maybe there's somebody
they like or someone who knows materennials system they can get.
But I think they're going to be in a similar
situation again unfortunately, because we've seen with Tua he's going
to get hit and he's going to be susceptible to this. Again.
Speaker 1 (19:34):
Well the Browns just ever say the hell with it,
let's just buy him out.
Speaker 9 (19:39):
Yeah, I think that time will come, you know, unless
Watson were to suddenly start playing better, which doesn't seem
to be happening. I think they're holding on as long
as they can. It's straining credulity. We're all sitting here
going come on. But big picture, thirty thousand feet, they're
six games in. They probably need feel like they need
to hold on a little bit longer. But I do
think it's inevitable that there's going to be some kind
(20:02):
of an exit strategy, at least making a change, you know,
at the position. And then after there you just have
to consider, all right, do we want to bite the
bullet with a post June one cut, have him count
over one hundred million and move on from this and
have to really, you know, scramble a little bit roster wise,
or is there some kind of a compromise where we
(20:23):
can do the bracoss weather type. Trader brought about this
in my column Monday at the Athletic, where we give
some draft capital to somebody. Somebody acquires him but really
doesn't plan to keep him, probably going to cut him
because no one wants to be associated with him the
way he's playing in all the off field stuff. And
you get some sort of sharing of the salary so
the cap hits better for Cleveland. Maybe the cash is
(20:44):
better for them and some rebuilding team with a ton
of cap room, and you know, a billionaire owner, eat
some of the salary, get some draft picks. I think
that could be a way out for them. Just not
sure how many teams are going to be lining up
to do that, and they may not want to give
up the draft capital either. Cleveland just may find a
way to cut him.
Speaker 1 (21:04):
They may.
Speaker 5 (21:05):
I just you know, what does that salary cap look like?
How does that? How does that work? You know?
Speaker 9 (21:13):
Yeah, well, so he's going to count seventy three million
next year anyway, right, if he's on the roster, he
count seventy three So if you trade him after June one,
that goes into the eighty something, right, So that would
be an ideal thing if you could do that. You
cut him after June one, it's one hundred and eighteen,
so you're you'd have some time to you know, do stuff.
(21:33):
It can be done if your owner is willing to
pay cash. But you start running out of players you
can redo their contracts on and you start compromising a
little bit of your future as well. So it's a
tough situation. But I don't see it doesn't feel tenable
to me. Does it that you can keep coming back?
Now if what about this? What if you benched him
and just you know what, he rides it out in
(21:55):
the background. He's on your team, he's making a lot
of money. That's a big story for a while. But
you do something else at the position and you just
you're going to pay him. He's going to account his
whatever seventy million and you just do it that way.
I would think that could be a consideration too, rather
than taking a huge hit if him being a backup
stops him from being a story there.
Speaker 1 (22:15):
Doug Peterson, they lose, they stay in London, what's it
like upon return he's still the Jaguars head coach.
Speaker 9 (22:23):
Well, I mean if they lose to New England, I mean,
I think all bets are off. But I'll also look
in these situations of who do they have lined up
to take the job, and you know, offensively veteran on
the staff is Mike McCoy. Is that the direction you're
going to go to the rest of the year. I
don't know about that. Ryan Nielsen's a de coordinator. He
(22:44):
just got there this year and his defense has been struggling.
They have a bottom five defense, So I think it
would have to be pretty untenable to do that. Shot
con generally hasn't been I know he pulled it early
on Urban Meyer, but that was so urgent, like they
had to do it. He generally hasn't done that. But
we heard before the year best team in Jaguar's history,
so that frustration index for owners didn't make them do
(23:06):
anything if they lose to the Patriots, ithing I think
you got to You gotta really wonder Mike.
Speaker 1 (23:11):
Awesome stuff. As always, follow Mike on social media. Reada's
work in the athletic It's always worth your time. It's
always incredibly well researched and and sourced as well. Mike,
thanks for joining us on Fox Sports Radio. Thanks Doug
so Doug otlib show here on Fox Sport Trader. That's
the voice of Mike Sando. Man, isn't it so weird
that we did? We walked into this year and I
(23:32):
remember having this conversation with all of us and we're like, no,
we kind of know who the playoff teams are going
to be, and like, look, to a certain extent, Ravens
are good.
Speaker 5 (23:40):
They're kind of always good. Right.
Speaker 1 (23:43):
The Steelers appear to be a little bit better than
we thought. Right, they'll probably be around or slightly above
five hundred maybe right. Obviously Falcons are surprised, but that
division was a bit was a was an unknown. Tampa
was a little bit surprised. That was a little bit unknown.
Giants appere maybe a little bit better. Eagle, I don't know,
not as good. Obviously the Dolphins we couldn't have seen
the tour, but a lot of the a lot of
(24:05):
the the jostling or whatever in the middle we got that.
We knew who's gonna be good, we knew who's not
gonna be good. But still so much to molt. So
many quarterbacks. You know, we told you about these big
quarterback deals, not just a Saun Watson, but I mean Jacksonville, Miami,
I mean kind of go through it like there's some
big deals out there that don't appear to be worth
(24:28):
worth their weight. And and though the NBA is known
for the drama, plenty of drama in the NFL, playing
drama in the NFL.
Speaker 7 (24:36):

NFL writer for The Athletic. We also have a case
(25:09):
of bad case of buyer's remorse. No, it's Dan, buy
your zeb remorse. Great segment, you'll love it upcoming in
about fifteen minutes. Give you my thoughts on Jerry Jones
when he said on Dallas Radio show earlier today, I
do want to check in with Jay Stu to get
the temperature of the local Dodger fan slash Dodger hater
(25:32):
or whatever. Jay Stu, how you doing after the loss
last night?
Speaker 6 (25:40):
I'm doing okay. It was a strange one. It was
a strange game. Most of it was played while we
were on the area yesterday, or most of the exciting part.
And I think the takeaway from yesterday was if Dave Roberts'
plan was to punt Game two, he probably should have
just told the fans. I feel bad for those sixty
(26:02):
thousand people in the parking lot yesterday that took upwards
of three to four hours to get back to their house,
because it seems like the Dodgers' plan was the punt
game two. He left Knack out way too long to
suffer damage, and then he brought in some rookie that's
pitched like ten innings in the in the Majors to
(26:23):
mop up a game that was a three run game.
So there really wasn't any intention on winning. I guess
it was like a we'll see what happens, and if
we win, we win. But I think that was my
takeaway yesterday. It just seemed like it was kind of
like a reset. We've got seven games to beat the Mets.
We've played, you know, however many games in however many days.
(26:44):
It's just nobody was in on that plan other than
Andrew Friedman and Dave Robertson.
Speaker 5 (26:50):
Nobody else is in on the plan.
Speaker 1 (26:52):
Is anybody else in my in my line of thinking
where I'm I have no desire to care about I
just I, for whatever reason, I can't get myself to
care about the Yankees versus the Guardians. I don't care.
(27:13):
Am I the Am I the only one there? I
just I don't know why, but I really struggle to
care about that one.
Speaker 6 (27:19):
What is it? What's uh? What? What drives you away?
Speaker 3 (27:23):
Like?
Speaker 6 (27:23):
What's what? Are you bored with?
Speaker 1 (27:25):
I don't think I know anybody in the Guardians I have,
Like I just again, I'm not trying to take apart
the fact that they won their last two series and
they got here, but the baseball needs the Yankees to
be there. I don't care about how good the Yankees are,
like just the Guardians don't. Don't There's nothing about them
that brings me to a television set. I think I've
(27:50):
become that guy and I don't know why, but I
just I really really struggled to care at all at
all about uh about the Guardians?
Speaker 5 (28:03):
I'm alone on that island or what?
Speaker 3 (28:04):
Or?
Speaker 5 (28:04):
Am I just the only one? Being honest?
Speaker 8 (28:07):
No, I'll be honest, I don't care about either series.
That's my honest. To be completely honest with you, I
couldn't even tell you what. I couldn't even tell you
right now what uniforms the Guardians wore last night. It
was just it was the Monday night came Bill Belichick's
evisceration of the Jets ownership group was amazing. I still
(28:30):
was thinking about it when I went to bed last night,
like it was. That's where I was locked in. It's difficult.
Football season really is for me to veer. We had
Mets Dodgers was on when I was at work here
as we were watching it, so I watched a fair
amount of that. But yeah, when football's on college or pro,
here's what's got my attention.
Speaker 5 (28:51):
Here's Bill Belichick last night.
Speaker 10 (28:54):
I'm not a big Jets fan in case you don't
know that, you know, like fireman head.
Speaker 1 (28:58):
But that's it.
Speaker 10 (28:58):
But you know what, coach did a good job with
that program. I mean, he fill brought in a culture,
a level of toughness and competitiveness.
Speaker 1 (29:06):
You know.
Speaker 10 (29:06):
Unfortunately, the offense, you know, hasn't been with you know,
a lot of quarterbacks last year and and uh, you
know a little bit of a slow start. But I
thought coach Slaw really did a good job with this team.
And you know, that's probably not that far away from winning.
Speaker 1 (29:20):
I mean, one of these two teams is going to
win the division.
Speaker 10 (29:23):
This game is probably going to be the deciding fact
that there are two matchups, So.
Speaker 4 (29:26):
I would seem quite early to me to be making
a making a head coach and change. Yeah.
Speaker 10 (29:31):
But but well but look, that's that's kind of what
it's been there at the Jets. You know, barely won
over thirty percent in the last ten years. So you know,
the owner being the owner just ready firing.
Speaker 8 (29:47):
Oh magnifficit was so good.
Speaker 1 (29:53):
So you guys, you guys think Belichick will take the job.
Speaker 8 (30:00):
There's so much there in that SoundBite. First of all,
Peyton is about to let him, not even off the hook,
because Peyton doesn't know what's coming. But Peyton was talking,
it's his show. Belichick had the perfect opportunity. He set
his piece and could step aside. But no, like Belichick
kept on talking because he wanted to say that he
(30:23):
wanted to give out the thirty percent he had the
number ready fire. Aim is such an awesome phrase, It
truly is. And that's what that's just part of what
makes it great. Do you remember the thirty for thirty
they did with Parcels and it was him and and
they were in the Giants' locker room and they're being
(30:44):
all nostalgia about it, and then the producers at the
end are like, hey, let's go over to the Jets
locker room, and they're like, nah, let's not do that. No,
we don't have to do That's like, yeah, we don't
want to go, Like they're just done with the Jets
in so many ways.
Speaker 6 (31:00):
I'll find the Jets this week.
Speaker 5 (31:01):
I do only know what that's do with it.
Speaker 2 (31:02):
Maybe I'm missing so I'm not.
Speaker 1 (31:04):
But but this is part of what I said going
back to last week, which is DeVante Adams and Aaron
Rodgers essentially did the same thing, like, I don't know
why you should be surprised that there's it's such a
mess when the Jets have been a mess for twenty
five years. I don't know why you're so surprised that
the Raiders, Like go look at the track record of
the Raiders. What are they had four gms now in
(31:25):
the last like eight years, Like it's literally crazy how
much turnover there is. You can't build anything without consistency.
So it was great sound, but also reiterated what you
know again, I'll pat myself in the back, and I
don't want to hurt myself pat myself in the back,
but I'll pat myself on the back, reiterating that like
(31:46):
if you're Aaron Rodger, you're DeVante Adams, Like you got
to zoom out and go like what do you expect?
It's it's no different than you know, if if a
woman's been married or a guy's been married three times
and then you go into relationship with me, like I
cannot believe that this guy like, look.
Speaker 5 (32:05):
You know I was married, he was a bit. I
made a lot of mistakes. Okay.
Speaker 1 (32:10):
If I don't learn from them and fix them, then
you become the second third fourth that got right.
Speaker 5 (32:15):
It's like what do you expect from people?
Speaker 1 (32:17):
You look at somebody's resume and its job two years
job too. I know a basketball coach who literally never
stated at a job for twenty years more than two years, okay,
and now he's a very well, handsomely paid coach, but
his last stop is like at the end, it was
just a mess, and like, man, why was it a mess?
(32:38):
Why did people not like him?
Speaker 5 (32:39):
At the end?
Speaker 1 (32:40):
He seems like such a good guy. He is a
good guy, but again it always goes bad two years in.
The only reason you didn't get rid of him two
years in was you won some games in year two,
So you're right, Dan Meyer completely right. But the bigger
thing is like, would I be willing to hear the
Jets out if they approached me? And I was Aaron Rodgers. Yeah,
but I also go, like, Jets man. Everybody says the
(33:03):
same thing about the Jets. You know, offseason champions, drama
champions every single year.
Speaker 8 (33:10):
And this is the Jets that we watched last night.
Were they any different from the Jets that we saw
in London against the Vikings? No, No, same exact team.
So this this team and again once they fired Salah,
I was, I said, you might as well go out
and get DeVonta Adams because you've already taken that step.
Don't sit on the fence. He mus a. Go for
(33:30):
the whole thing if you're going to do that. But
it's also the point that that team sitting there entering
the London game at two and two, felt, all right,
if we don't get a win against the one of
the two unbeaten teams in the NFL, we need to
uproot this whole thing. That's pretty absurd. They were an
Aaron Rodgers interception away that may have been Mike Williams's fault,
(33:52):
but still an Aaron Rodgers interception away from having a
go ahead score against the Vikings in London. It wasn't
like they were blown out forty seven to nine like
the Cowboys were this past weekend. Sure, and so like
there's and now it's just extreme upheaval. And if you're
gonna get DeVonta Adams, get them last week, have them
play this week against the Bills in what I know,
(34:14):
Week six isn't make or break, but if you win
that game, you erase some of the bad stuff that happened.
You've now got the home win against Buffalo with the
return trip later in the season. Should have done the
deal last week. Like this thing seems just pure chaos.
Just it's mind boggling how much this continues.
Speaker 1 (34:33):
By the way, you pick up DeVante Adams, that means
Mike Williams goes right, I think.
Speaker 8 (34:38):
Yeah, they're shopping on Pro Football Talk says.
Speaker 1 (34:40):
Yeah, good good luck with that one, good luck with that.
Like a Charger fan like Mike Williams, he was, he was,
and I as a guy I like him obviously. Remember
when he ran into the goalpost at Clemson right like
he had that neck injury.
Speaker 5 (34:54):
It was scary.
Speaker 1 (34:55):
Like I love the fact that he made it back
to being a first round draft pick in the NFL.
But I mean he's he's been injured more than anything else.
And I don't know if you guys heard this. Aaron Rodgers.
In that last interception, Mike Williams was not where he
was supposed to be, and Aaron Rodgers made sure it
was known.
Speaker 4 (35:12):
There's two verticals. You know, Allin's down the scene. Mike's
down the redline. So I'm looking at Allan. He puts
a stand up three guys ago with him, So I'm
throwing a no look to the red line. And when
I just peek my eyes back there, he's running a intbreaker.
So it's gotta be down the red line. I was
thrown to the red line. When I got to about here,
(35:33):
I realized he was running in breaker, so I had
to kind of adjust it a little bit. But the
play is two guys vertical, one guy down the scene,
one guy in the red line.
Speaker 1 (35:41):
So and if you watch, if you watch the all
twenty two, Aaron of course is right, and it was
in fact Mike Williams's fault. But the difference in Aaron
Rodgers and everybody else's Aaron's going to tell you the truth,
even if it if it chames Mike Williams. My big
issue with Aaron Rodgers is not I don't mind that,
(36:03):
but if you're going to be the guy who tells
the truth no matter who it offends. Why she tells
the truth about Robert Salah. Why did she tell you
you may go back? Why is she's truth about the vaccination? Like,
if you're really gonna be anti VAXX, I'm not gonna
do it. I don't believe in the science, then stand
up and say it be goes counter to everything he
said he's about. So I don't actually have problem. He's
right about Mike Williams. And if you want to know
(36:24):
why Mike Williams is not going to be on the team,
that's why. And if you want to know why Devanta
Adams despite the fact he's not the Devanta Adams of
a year, two, three, four years ago, but it's because
DeVante is may not be as fast as he used
to be, but he's going to be exactly where he's
supposed to be. Aaron Rodgers, do you have to look
he can just throw the football knowing DeVante knows where
to be, based upon based upon the play Doug.
Speaker 8 (36:45):
This just in. Aaron Rodgers said today he was not
calling out Mike Williams. Take a listen to this.
Speaker 5 (36:50):
I wasn't calling Mike.
Speaker 3 (36:51):
Out for anything other than his responsibility and the details
on that play. I have a lot of love and
respect for Mike. He does some nice things for us.
On that play, he wasn't the right spot. You can
make more of that if you want to.
Speaker 8 (37:07):
Aaron Rodgers earlier today on the Pad McAfee show.
Speaker 1 (37:10):
I mean, he can say he's not calling him out,
but then saying he's not in the right spot is
in fact calling him out.
Speaker 8 (37:15):
How Mike Williams is it that he gets hurt suffers
would appear to be a head injury on a play
where he falls down and the ball gets intercepted when
he was wide open two seconds prior but ran the
wrong route. He falls down, the ball gets intercepted, and
while the defender is diving for the ball on top
of Mike Williams, Williams ends up kind of getting dinged up.
(37:38):
He was holding his head afterwards.
Speaker 6 (37:41):
Now, I think Charger fans are familiar with this, Like
he's Mike Williams's maybe greatest talent is coming up with
creative ways to hurt himself.
Speaker 1 (37:52):
H by the way the bills releasing Marcus Valdez Scantling.
Speaker 5 (37:59):
Does he end up with the Jets? Probably not.
Speaker 1 (38:01):
Don't think he was one of Aaron's favorites. Not even close.
