Speaker 2 (00:24):
This is the best of the Ben Maler Show on
Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
Our lead from the Alamo City as that was the
Hippodrome for a game number one of the NBA Finals
there New York and San Antonio.
Speaker 3 (00:46):
Did you watch?
Speaker 1 (00:47):
Were you compelled to give the most valuable currency that
you have?
Speaker 3 (00:51):
Your time to consume what was going on?
Speaker 4 (00:55):
So?
Speaker 1 (00:55):
Jalen Brunson. The headliners were Jalen Brunson and Victor Wabanyama.
Neither one of them played well, although they each had
accumulated some good stats. For example, Jalen Brunson had thirty points.
Carl Anthony Towns, who is changing his reputation, Well, he
can't change what he's already done. When he's adjusting the future.
(01:18):
Karl Anthony Towns eighteen points, twelve rebounds and the New
York Knickerbockers.
Speaker 3 (01:24):
They had all that momentum.
Speaker 1 (01:25):
They were down by fourteen points in the second half,
fourteen point deficit, and they ended up getting up off
the deck and slay the Spurs in Game one, a
double digit win one oh five ninety five oh g
NAOB had seventeen for New York. And I am told
(01:47):
they have now won twelve consecutive playoff games. I am
informed that is good. I am informed that as good.
They are the seventh team to have such a streak
in NBA history, just the third to do it in
a single postseason. And I'm old enough to remember when
we're having conversations about CJ McCollum killing the Knickerbockers in
(02:09):
the playoffs, I vaguely remember talking about CJ McCollum, the
Nick Killer. Well, the Knicks, who finished the game on
an eleven zero run, have taken home court advantage away
from the Texans, as Charles Barkley said, those cockroaches travel
well from New York. Game two will be Friday in
San Antonio, So that means I technically don't have to
(02:31):
watch because I don't do the live radio through a
podcast on the weekends. So I'll watch. I'll check it out.
I'm not going to be taking notes because I don't
have to, but i'll watch. I'll just sit back and
I'll eat some bad food and watch some basketball.
Speaker 3 (02:45):
That'll be that.
Speaker 1 (02:46):
Now, the better story is in the losing locker room.
You know, the Ben Malor show loves losers. We relish
the loseries because everyone's going to be kissing the ass
of the knicker. Oh my god, they got their knee
pads on Steve and he has got double knee pads.
Speaker 3 (03:04):
He's so excited about this. My god, our old morning guy.
Speaker 1 (03:08):
So anyway, these Spurs are the better story. That's a
good jumping off point, as they did not get.
Speaker 3 (03:13):
It done at the end.
Speaker 1 (03:15):
And let us discuss. We're gonna start with Victor when
Byama Wemby, who did not have a night to remember
in his maiden voyage in the NBA Finals back, we
have a little taste of when by Yama postgame, who
pointed out this was not a night to remember.
Speaker 3 (03:37):
Take a list.
Speaker 5 (03:38):
Every team guards differently. You know, I'm gonna figure it out.
It's uh yeah, I mean I was bad tonight. It's
not more complicated than that. Walking into this your first
ever finals game tonight, where they're any jitters that bothered
you from the beginning that craft could affected you at
all today? I mean it definitely felt special for sure,
but nothing closed that could be an excuse. You know,
(04:00):
it was not a factor in our performance.
Speaker 3 (04:05):
Picked up some jitters. He went to get some lunch
and they gave him a.
Speaker 1 (04:09):
Bag with jitters and he ate some of the jitters
and yeah, hellyveay.
Speaker 3 (04:14):
All right.
Speaker 1 (04:14):
So the question where did things go wrong for Spurs
star Victor wem Banyama, who admitted he was bad in
the lidlifter of the NBA Finals and someone if he
doesn't f this up, we'll be talking about for many,
many years in big games like this. So my thoughts
on this. I have Amazon Prime, Group Project and Agent
(04:36):
K and we'll put all of these things together and
we are going to visit the Honky.
Speaker 3 (04:41):
Talk is what we're going to do.
Speaker 1 (04:43):
So a now, even though when Banyama said, hey, I
didn't play well, I was bad.
Speaker 3 (04:50):
That happened, and I promise.
Speaker 1 (04:53):
You a number of the media elites and the fanboys,
the low information types will s well, he's just being polite,
and they'll look at the box score, and they'll say, well,
it's not his fault. The kid put up some stats.
He had twenty six points and twelve rebounds. And to that,
of course, I say, phooey. Let's dig a little deeper.
(05:15):
In game one, the story here, it was a bugs
life out there for Wemby, a bugs life. And Wemby
was not the windshield. He was the bug splattered across
the windshield. And I don't know how he got to
the arena. I wasn't in San Antonio for the game.
I'm not sure if he got driven there, he drove himself.
I do know that during the game he rode the
(05:37):
vomit comet. That's what he drove. The Parisian prodigy shot
a putrid twenty eight and a half percent, and he's
about the size of the roof of the arena, like
his head. He has to duck down because he's right
near the roof of the arena. He took twenty one
shots and missed fifteen of them. Now I just do
(05:58):
the overnight show here. I don't think that's hood.
Speaker 3 (06:01):
What do I know?
Speaker 1 (06:03):
Six turnovers. Wemby did not just have of a stage fright.
He had like finals fright. Right, He looked like he
looked out there like he had seen the ghost of Patrick.
Speaker 3 (06:13):
Ewing or something like he was at the game.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
The Parisian Prodigy instantly turned in the Parisian pigeon, pigeon
hearted out there flapping around and not real aggressive for
stretches of the game. The one thing we'd talked about
this in a previous episode of the shows, like you
just got to keep being aggressive, and he just didn't
didn't do it, And we pointed the finger at actually Amazon,
(06:39):
Amazon Prime. We imagine that Wemby got the wrong script
delivered to him and he was supposed to get the
Lion King and instead well he did play like a lion,
the cowardly lion from the Wizard of Oz and just
lacking some intestinal fortitude at times. My word is skittish,
(07:02):
not Yiddish, skittish.
Speaker 3 (07:04):
That is my word.
Speaker 6 (07:05):
Now.
Speaker 1 (07:05):
Even the nuns, this is beyond just regularly. This is
like a higher power. Even the nuns couldn't save him.
We were told he got blessed pregame by those San
Antonio nuns, and he still went out there and played
pigeon hearted basketball. The Holy Rollers laid hands on him
and he went out there like the rim was being
(07:25):
protected by the Guardian angels. He built a literal cathedral
out of the miss layups for the nuns, is what
he did. And this wasn't people gon say, well, this
is just the Knicks. You know the next all those cockroaches,
as Charles Barkley said from New York, and be like, wow,
that's just the great Nick defense. There's oh god, my
fat ass. You know how many make couple shots? These
(07:46):
are shots that Wemby has taken throughout the plaoffs. It's
not like they forced him to shots. He doesn't say no,
granted a lot of them. He loves shooting jump shots.
It's it's hees the size of a draft and he plays.
He plays like he's a little bug or something.
Speaker 3 (08:03):
It's wild.
Speaker 1 (08:04):
But he was butchering. For him, they were bunnies and
he butchered so many bunnies. Like these shots that he
usually makes is like Elmer Fudd on Vertigo or something
along those lines. And now page dude, keeping the theme
going on game number one of the NBA Finals, So
thank you. Aside from Wemby, we can assign blame. So
(08:28):
aside from Wemby, who else stunk? Up the joint for
the Spurs. They had a fourteen point lead at the
six thirty mark of the third quarter, so it's eighteen
and a half minutes to go in the game. Spurs
are at home, y'all tell me how important home court
advantage is, and they blew a fourteen point lead. So
if Victor Winbanyama was the headline collapse in the first game,
(08:51):
the rest of the roster were the footnotes written in,
disappearing in the whole supporting cast. It was like a
group project where nobody did anything. We've all been there,
right you always you want that one person to do
all the work and everyone takes credit. This was a
group project failure for the Ages. So the Spurs played
(09:13):
like they were late to a dentist appointment. They didn't
have any fight. Is not a lot of pulse. It
doesn't seem to be much pride there. San Antonio was outscored.
I did the malord math on this. In the final
eighteen and a half minutes they were outscored by twenty
four points. Twenty four points from up fourteen to down
the end, losing by ten. And the math on that
(09:36):
New York blitzing San Antonio outscored him fifty four to thirty,
which I believe is solid.
Speaker 3 (09:44):
I think that's solid. And during that hellish half.
Speaker 1 (09:49):
The rest of the game there that they shot thirty
three point three percent, which is half the sign of
the devil, which is appropriate. And unfortunately the nuns were
there so they were able to help out. It was
not a specific, isolated issue for the collective of San Antonio.
It was an all encompassing type of suck.
Speaker 3 (10:08):
Is what it was.
Speaker 1 (10:09):
And Julian Champenny, this guy went from Curry to Curly,
from the three stooges. He looked like Stephen Curry in
the first half, knocking down moneyball after moneyball after moneyball,
took six shots from behind the arc, made five money balls,
five out of six, and led the Spurs midway through
(10:31):
at fifteen points.
Speaker 3 (10:32):
If you saw the game, you know what I'm talking about.
And then in a second he's like, wait a minute, let.
Speaker 1 (10:35):
Me pretend like I'm playing at the YMCA on a
random Saturday morning.
Speaker 3 (10:42):
Let me do that.
Speaker 1 (10:42):
Okay, sure, And the rest of these guys weren't even
the stooges. They weren't even good enough to be alongside Curley.
They were the extras. So Champenny, Devin Vassel, Dylan Harper,
who had played well early in the game and he
fell up there, dearon Fox played like a Sacramento king.
(11:03):
Can't get that king suck out of your blood, apparently,
and they all stunk at a time you simply cannot suck,
and so need some soap and scrub that off, scrub
a dub dub. And I will say, just like the overreaction,
I know it always happens, and so it's not new
and it's not anything different and all that. And it's
(11:24):
like we might want to remind our friends from New
York to try state area there that it's not the
NCAA tournament. It's not a single elimination, like the series
is not over because the Knicks won Game one on
the road, Like take a little bit of a breath here.
We also know extreme outcomes are followed by more moderate ones.
And so the Knicks, you would think are due to
(11:44):
go on a big ski here, they've peaked too soon.
They're due to go in a ditch on the side
of the road. So I fully expect the spruce to
bounce back away. I think the fact they had shot
as bad as they played and as terrible as Wemby was,
I'd be worried if I were the Knicks, because san
Antonio was still in position to win that game. They
(12:05):
obviously stunk down the stretch, but the fact that they
were still there with all of that bad basketball and
they still had a shot tells me that they're the
better team, all right. Last word here, So on the
New York side, the question, how would you describe Jalen
Brunson's play for the Knicks in this game? Because he
(12:25):
had thirty points. I was all excited about that and
played okay at the end. This is the classic tale.
Speaker 3 (12:33):
Of two halves. Shakespeare would have written it that way,
right tale.
Speaker 1 (12:39):
I think he did. Yeah, he knew who Jalen Brussel was,
you know, all those years ago. So Brunson actually lived
the tale of two halves in the first game of
the NBA Finals here in twenty twenty six. For the
first thirty minutes of the game, roughly thirty minutes of
the game, Brunson's performance was a total clunker clunk, clunk, clunk.
(13:02):
It was just horrific. He looked completely lost in the woods.
The babe lost in the Woods, struggling to do anything,
and he could not get his shot going. He took
eighteen shots in the first thirty minutes, he missed thirteen
of them, shot twenty seven point eight percent, had just
eleven points thirty minutes into the game, and then he
(13:24):
pulls the complete Houdini act and escapes.
Speaker 3 (13:27):
From the bad start. And what he wasn't Houdini.
Speaker 1 (13:30):
It was like the classic Men in Black movie franchise
where he whipped out the neuralizer and he was Adrian
k And for Men in Black, and he completely erased
the memory of that puke fest first half for the Knickerbockers.
There over the final eighteen minutes, Brunson hoppity hopped on
the magic carpet, took a magic carpet ride, dragged the
(13:54):
Knicks right alongside, and as we said, outscoing twenty four
points twenty four point avalanche to close the game, actually
eleven zero at the end, but twenty four from down
fourteen to up ten at the end of the game.
Here's Brunson commenting he was asked the question, Hey, why
did you suck so much at the beginning?
Speaker 7 (14:14):
I think at one point you were five or eighteen
from the field, and yet you really imposed your will
on the game and the fourth quarter.
Speaker 3 (14:19):
Where's that strength and.
Speaker 7 (14:22):
Composure come from on a night when you're struggling from
the floor to still have that kind of an impact
on the game in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 4 (14:30):
I think it starts with my confidence. It comes to
my work ethic. I think most importantly, knowing we're on
the road and knowing my teammates at my back. I
think that's the biggest thing in the environment like this.
They trusted having me, and they's trusted to having them.
This got us to this point, and so I mean,
I'm very thankful for them. I mean, every single night
(14:51):
we go out there together.
Speaker 1 (14:53):
So if I was writing the headline for the New
York Post, my headline would be Jalen Brunson calls out Spurs.
They don't believe in each other. They're not a united front.
Because that's why the next one they were more united.
They believe in each other. The Spurs don't believe in
each other. That's why they lost. Jalen Brunson calls out
San Antonio. That's her headline, developing hot dot dot dot.
Speaker 6 (15:12):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (15:12):
Yeah, the question what was he supposed to do? Go
in the court.
Speaker 1 (15:15):
He was playing bad, so he should like go in
the corner and suck his thumb, Like, what is he
supposed to do?
Speaker 3 (15:20):
How's that work?
Speaker 1 (15:20):
Does he go have a like a cup of kombucha
tea and chill out for a little bit? Uh?
Speaker 3 (15:26):
Yeah? And now he did flip the script.
Speaker 1 (15:28):
Brunson finished the game on a burner, as the kids
like to say, seven of thirteen after starting the game
five of eighteen seven of thirteen shooting, had nineteen points
down the stretch and was the power power play, power
play for New York as they get to come back. So,
first half Brunson was lost in the woods, and the
(15:48):
second half Brunson built a log cabin, is what he did.
Speaker 3 (15:53):
So there you go.

Speaker 1 (16:33):
Away from the blotterer, the blotter, the police blodder. Less
than twenty four hours after the Ben Maler Show, Welcome
back our old friend.
Speaker 3 (16:42):
The NFL book them. We got action. We got action
in the NFL book them. If you have not heard
by now, maybe not.
Speaker 1 (16:51):
An NFL player had an arrest warrant issued for them
less than twenty four hours after the NFL book them.
It never fails. We're talking about forty nine ers wide receiver.
I say that with a winking or not, because he
hasn't played for the Niners in a long time and
he likely won't play for them again. However, technically he
is under contract with the forty nine ers.
Speaker 3 (17:10):
We're talking about Brandon Ayuk.
Speaker 1 (17:13):
A misdemeanor charge, so not a felony, a misdemeanor charge
of what they're calling exhibition of speed.
Speaker 3 (17:20):
I don't even know that was the thing.
Speaker 1 (17:22):
We are told that the Santa Clara County District Attorney's
office are the ones that issued the warrant. Now, how
did Brandon Ayuk end up with and arrest warrant? Well,
it all stems from social media, the matrix, and he's
so far immersed in the fakeness of the matrix that
he went for it. There was a video that must
(17:44):
have been posted by some somebody out to get Brandon
ayuck right. Maybe it was John Lynch, the forty nine
er or GM like, Oh, we're gonna stick it to
Brandon ick. We're gonna post this video of him doing
something bad speeding. No, the video was posted by the
forty nine or wide Receiver to his own YouTube channel
in December of last year, and they waited all the
(18:05):
way through January, February, March, April May, and now here
we are in early June, and yeah, it's from that video.
In the video, Brandon IOC has a need for speed
and he was driving well over one hundred miles an hour. Now,
why is why do I say that with the evidence
I have to prove that is the speedometer that this
(18:28):
numb nuts showed on the video.
Speaker 3 (18:31):
He was going one.
Speaker 1 (18:32):
Hundred and eleven miles an hour on Tasman Drive, which
I'm told is near Levi's Stadium.
Speaker 3 (18:40):
The speed limit you want to take?
Speaker 1 (18:41):
You guess what the speed limit is on the street
where he was going one hundred and eleven miles an hour.
Let's see actually less than forty five? How about forty
forty miles an hour? Forty so that's see sixty seventy
one miles over the scene. You know, I'm someone that drives.
(19:02):
I got a heavy foot, I don't go that fast.
Police investigate?
Speaker 3 (19:05):
I want? Is there to investigate? There's the video, that's it,
he posted it.
Speaker 1 (19:09):
They referred the case to prosecutors in mid January of
this year. So how backed up is the Santa Clara
County District Attorney's.
Speaker 3 (19:17):
Office where they got this in mid January?
Speaker 1 (19:19):
They waded through all of February, all of March, April, May,
and here in June they say we're gonna put an
arrest warrant out for this guy. That is a good
jumping off point. Let us discuss. So the question where
does forty nine ers wide receiver Brandon ioaks arrest warrant
for speeding in a video that he posted rank on
(19:41):
Benny's big board. So my observations on this. I've got
New York Times bestseller, Charter Member, and Twilight Zone, and.
Speaker 3 (19:52):
We will combine all.
Speaker 1 (19:55):
Of these things together and we are going to go.
Speaker 3 (20:00):
Kaboom, is what we're going to do. All right, So.
Speaker 1 (20:03):
Number one, number one, number one, number one, all right. Stop,
So right at the top, let me tell you something.
Benny's big board for these type of activities. This is
Dean list for dumb ideas right here.
Speaker 3 (20:21):
And normally we ignore most of the time speeding tickets.
Speaker 1 (20:26):
I feel like everyone drives over the speed limit, you
know what I'm saying, Like this is a common occurrence here.
Unless there's an accident like Miles Garrett now of the Rams,
who's had you had a hum Dinger back in the
day there in Ohio, there's some extenuating circumstances. Generally does
not make the show. This, though, is on our radar,
(20:47):
and the reason it's on our radar is because of.
Speaker 3 (20:50):
The level of dumbness that has been reached here.
Speaker 1 (20:54):
Brandon Iouk has now become a New York Times best
selling author. Congratulations. You can read his book. It's available
wherever you get your books. Complete Idiot's Guide to Being
a knucklehead wide receiver in the NFL picking up a
doctorate in poor judgment. Now, this isn't even the worst
thing he's done by far. He already lost twenty seven
(21:15):
million dollars of guaranteed money. Now, after California taxes, it's
about seventeen dollars. But so he lost seventeen dollars in
guaranteed money or twenty seven from the forty nine ers
for malfeasance.
Speaker 3 (21:30):
He went a wall. He's he ghosted the team.
Speaker 1 (21:33):
He hasn't played since shredding his ACL MCL meniscus and
his toukis in October of twenty twenty four. Now, John
Lynch indicated that that's it, that's all she wrote. This
is it's all over now, and that he's played his
last snap for the Niners. I know Ernesto in the
Bay has broken hearted about that, and no trade has
(21:56):
happened here. We've made it through the draft. He hasn't
been released yet, and the Niners are going to stick
it to him, it would appear. So how do you
lose twenty seven million and then find time to film
on audition tape for the Fast and the Furious franchise?
It's all in the book Completely Idiots Guy to being
a knucklehead wide receiver.
Speaker 3 (22:15):
Stanford.
Speaker 1 (22:15):
I understand this may or may not be true. Stanford
is studying Brandon Ayuck. He's a walking case study in
what not to do as a professional athlete.
Speaker 3 (22:24):
Now, if IOK were any more.
Speaker 1 (22:25):
Committee to bad decisions, he'd be named employee of the
Month unforced Errors employee of the month.
Speaker 3 (22:33):
But wait, there's more. So this is my favorite part
of this story. I was following along here.
Speaker 1 (22:40):
So when the video was posted back in twenty twenty five,
at the end of twenty five, if you were like, whoa,
this is crazy, what are you doing?
Speaker 3 (22:48):
My god?
Speaker 1 (22:48):
So Brandon i apologize, saying he would not post speeding
content anymore. And then the day that I'm hand to God,
all right, hand to gud, the day the warrant in
the media, Brandon IUK posted on Instagram content at a racetrack.
Speaker 3 (23:07):
In a Mercedes. You can't mean, I guess at least
he was at a racetrack.
Speaker 1 (23:13):
Uh. So the theory is nobody wants him otherwise than
Niners would have traded him. So this is his way
to feel wanted. This is his way nobody wants me.
But the cops want me, They want to talk to me.
This should help my trade value. Any publicity's good publicity.
The man's in all pro and poor decisions, not on
(23:34):
the field.
Speaker 3 (23:35):
And if you want.
Speaker 1 (23:35):
Somebody that can make bad decisions, Brandon Iyuk's going to
be your guy, all right now, Page two, The Green
Bay the frozen tundra, lambeau Field with a gift shop
the size of a costco at lambeau Field, with every
kind of foam cheesehead you could possibly want. So the
Green Bay Packer's edge rusher mic Up Parsons remember him, Yeah,
(23:58):
about that guy? So he spoke publick for the first
time since the end of last season. I know we're
hanging on every word from Micah Parsons, every single word
his ACL recovery. Now the Packers are following, according to Parsons,
a strict nine month recovery plan. Nine month plan that
(24:19):
means using malar math, all right, that means using malor math.
Parsons will miss the first month of the NFL season. Now,
the word on the street is realistically he will not
return to the very earliest would be week five. In
that classic green Bay Chicago game versus the Bears or
(24:41):
Week six for the Packers against that team he used
to play for the Dallas Cowboys. That's if everything goes smooth,
and Michael was, ah, I'm extremely happy with the progress.
Speaker 3 (24:51):
And all that.
Speaker 1 (24:53):
Standard fare. And he's been doing most of his rehab
in Texas.
Speaker 3 (24:58):
He recently returned to Green Bay because of OTAs. He
called the Packers trainer his wife, which okay.
Speaker 1 (25:07):
And he is the NFL's highest paid defensive player and average.
Speaker 3 (25:11):
Annual value and that's where we are.
Speaker 1 (25:14):
He says he's just gonna be one hundred percent when
he comes back, and that's.
Speaker 3 (25:18):
It, all right.
Speaker 1 (25:18):
So the question what message did Micah Parson send to
the Packers stockholders his recovery timeline.
Speaker 3 (25:28):
So you're paying a guy forty seven million.
Speaker 1 (25:30):
A year and he's telling you that he's only going
to come back when he's one hundred percent, which tells
you there's no real urgency. And he's the charter member
of the will get there eventually club. And in today's NFL,
you could be the highest paid defender and say, yeah,
you know, when.
Speaker 3 (25:50):
I get there, I get there. You know, it's not
that's not bad.
Speaker 1 (25:54):
If I was making that kind of money, that kind
of dull.
Speaker 3 (25:59):
I'd feel guilty. I would like, I don't make anywhere
near what cowhard.
Speaker 1 (26:03):
And some of these guys that work at this place make,
and nor should I do the Overnight show. However, let
me tell you, if I miss a show, I feel bad.
If I have to take time off to do stuff,
you know, growing up stuff, or I have to go
somewhere with the fam, I feel bad. I'm like, oh man,
I feel like I'm letting people down. This my sugar
naugh Michah Parsons. There is no shame in his game.
Speaker 3 (26:25):
None.
Speaker 1 (26:26):
I'm jealous. I am jealous. I'm not wired that way.
Like I feel guilty if I if I miss a
work assignment.
Speaker 3 (26:31):
He does not. Clearly, patience is easy.
Speaker 1 (26:34):
I guess when you're making forty seven million dollars a year,
you don't have a rush back. The nine month no
football rule that Parsons claim the Green Bay Packers have,
that's not rehab.
Speaker 3 (26:43):
That's that's like maternity leave. Right. Is he pregnant? We
do maybe we know who the wife is now.
Speaker 1 (26:49):
Parsons claims there are no good outcomes from coming back early.
That's what he said, and I'm sure there there aren't
many good outcomes either from starting the season with your
supposedly star defensive player walking along the sidelines or sitting
in a luxury suite. The Packers' defense will be walking
(27:09):
into September in the danger zone. Danger danger, danger, danger zone.
And that's a fact, Jack, That is a fact, Jack,
even if your name's not Jack. Now parsons he returned
to the OTA is the way a celebrity returns to
a hometown parade briefly, and he had a camera crew
(27:30):
following him around.
Speaker 3 (27:32):
That's how that went, all right? Final point, Todd Narlin's.
Speaker 1 (27:36):
We go another ongoing off season soap opera playing out.
We need to rediscover this.
Speaker 3 (27:43):
Alvin Camara can be yours if you just make an offer.
The price doesn't even have to be right. The price
does not have to be right. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (27:53):
So Alvin Kamar showed up to the Saints OTA practices
this week after skipping voluntary workouts earlier in the off season.
Speaker 3 (28:00):
Okay, fine.
Speaker 1 (28:01):
He stated that there's no beef or bad blood, none
of that with the Saints organizationean all the uncertainty about
his future. Kellen Moore, who for some reason is still
coaching there, said it's good to have Alvin Kamara back.
Well that's a shocking take. Nobody else had that. So
a head coach thinks it's good to have one of
(28:22):
his players back. Okay, now, Alvin Kamara emphasized that he'll
keep training to be ready and the rest will be
determined when everyone compares their notes. So the question for
the esteem panel. Does Alvin Kamara's arrival at OTA's change
his situation in New Orleans?
Speaker 3 (28:44):
So I am.
Speaker 1 (28:46):
Nodding my head. Yes, these guys are worlds apart here.
Alvin Kamar shows up absolutely changing the temperature in the Bayou.
Speaker 3 (28:57):
And I'll tell you why.
Speaker 1 (28:58):
It's the NFL's verse version of Hey, I'm available if
you're interested, and if I'm out there playing and I'm
running around and all of a sudden, lickety split snap,
crackle pop, and then you gotta pay me some money,
all right? And look, Alvin Kamar is in the twilight zone.
(29:18):
We all know it, entering the final year of his contract.
He's there, he's present now, He's been productive, although starting
to show signs of slowing down. That's why the team
went out to replace him.
Speaker 3 (29:31):
And so he's he's there.
Speaker 1 (29:32):
He's got one foot in and one foot out and
you shake it all about, and he's got that lame
duck status. Micah Parsons in Michael Michael Party, Alvin Kamara
has the lame duck status. So Alvin Kamara, all right,
the Saints running back here. If you look at the
fine print when you are in the last year, they
(29:53):
call that the lame duck and all that stuff. And
so when you look at Kamara and that contract.
Speaker 3 (29:58):
It translates to one thing. Pack light, just bring a
carry on. You're not going to be there long.
Speaker 1 (30:05):
The writing has been on the wall, the graffiti has
been on the wall since March. The Saints went out
in free agency and signed former Jacksonville running back Travis
h Chan formerly known as ETN as the new featured back.
And so while Alvin Kamara has been a New Orleans
staple since way back in twenty seventeen, it's a little
(30:28):
kid back in twenty seventeen. The Grandfather clock is.
Speaker 3 (30:32):
Starting to tick tick tick tic tic tic tic tic tick.
You can hear it. You can hear the Grandfather clock
ticking away.
Speaker 1 (30:38):
Make no mistake, Alvin Kamara is not going to compete
for his old job. That's already been given to somebody else.
He's competing for, which off ramp he's going to take,
which exit he's going to take.
Speaker 3 (30:50):
That's really the only question here.
Speaker 1 (30:51):
New Orleans is not all of a sudden hoping that
Kamara returns to form.
Speaker 3 (30:56):
They've already moved on.
Speaker 1 (30:57):
They're just hoping that he shows enough that somebody gets
attracted to the idea of taking a hop, skip and
a jump and adding Alvin Kamara to their team.
Speaker 3 (31:08):
So there we go.
Speaker 2 (31:09):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Ben Meller
Show weekdays at two am Eastern eleven pm Pacific.
Speaker 3 (31:16):

Speaker 2 (31:18):
To the third degree?
Speaker 6 (31:19):
Here we go.
Speaker 3 (31:20):
This is one big event gets grilled cool.
Speaker 6 (31:26):
On yesterday's show, we talked about Eagles offensive lighten lineman
Jordan Milatta saying thank god the AJ Brown trade drama
is over. He also said that Davonta Smith has always
been a number one receiver, so nothing has changed for him. Ben,
do you think that's the case.
Speaker 1 (31:41):
No, he's been the number two receiver. He's now been
number one receiver. But it didn't really matter. The Eagles
are not Jalen Hurts can't make all the throws. They're
a run first team, and so I believe the smith
will be fine because they don't throw the ball enough
where it's gonna matter. It's gonna make that big a
difference unless they change quarterbacks next.
Speaker 6 (31:59):
Jamar Chase said this week that after reaching the Super
Bowl in twenty twenty one, expectations have always been high
for the team. However, with the defensive improvements the Bengals
made in the offseason, expectations this season have gone up. Ben,
how high are your expectations?
Speaker 1 (32:12):
There'll be a wild card team, They'll make the playoffs,
win a game in the playoffs, have a chance to
make some noise next.
Speaker 6 (32:19):
NBA draft prospect aj Debonsa made a recent podcast appearance
where he was asked about the possibility of the Wizards
drafting him first overall. He said, if they draft me,
I do need three tray for fred to Trey Jung's jersey.
Then a lot of people were pissed off by this.
Do you think does this bother you as a fan
or no big deal?
Speaker 3 (32:35):
I don't care.
Speaker 1 (32:36):
I don't care about the Wizards. Coop, who cares about
the Wizards? You know what I'm saying, They're the Wizards.
They don't really matter the Wizards.
Speaker 2 (32:42):

Speaker 3 (33:00):
Is your questions on Twitter.
Speaker 1 (33:02):
Now and the way we go to ask men your
questions are answers for the rest of the hour and
now the ceremonial reading of the questions with the koop
Dal loop.
Speaker 6 (33:17):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (33:18):
Uh.
Speaker 6 (33:18):
We're gonna start off with a question from James and Tacoma.
Speaker 1 (33:22):
Hi.
Speaker 3 (33:23):
James.
Speaker 6 (33:24):
James would like to know other than you know, like
sports venues or something like that, what are places or
is there anywhere that you frequent.
Speaker 3 (33:36):
I'm confused, like I just randomly travel to because I
just want.
Speaker 6 (33:39):
To know, like he said, like like like Hooters or
like a certain bar, you know, like someplace that you
that you go to often.
Speaker 2 (33:48):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (33:48):
I think everyone has certain like restaurants, local restaurants where
you live that you go to, places like that. Of
course I don't eat out much anymore, so there's not
too many places. But when we do go out, we
got our favorite Italian plays we got our favorite burger
spot and chicken as places we like.
Speaker 3 (34:05):
Going and so.
Speaker 1 (34:07):
I mean obviously yeah, yeah, it's traveling wise, not really.
Speaker 3 (34:12):
What about you, Lorena?
Speaker 6 (34:13):
Does Disneyland count Yeah?
Speaker 3 (34:16):
You pay a monthly fee to go there.
Speaker 2 (34:18):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (34:18):
So yeah, do you ever get tired of it? Learn
on every ride? No?
Speaker 6 (34:23):
No, I actually miss it right now.
Speaker 1 (34:24):
I can't wait to go again.
Speaker 6 (34:26):
Yeah. There are certain poker games that I frequent and
go to almost every week.
Speaker 1 (34:33):
Yeah, but like in Vegas, I don't have like a favorite.
I'll stay anywhere that doesn't have paid parking. Although the
rumor is Coop that MGM is going to get rid
of paid park that's the room.
Speaker 6 (34:43):
Let's see if that happens, because they're going to be
purchased by people people.
Speaker 1 (34:48):
Uh, the guy that owns the Rockets rights, Yeah, he's
pretty Caesars. Well, if MGM offers free parking, wouldn't Caesars
have to offer free parking too, wouldn't that Arrivals they
own pretty much everything in Vegas.
Speaker 3 (35:03):
Yeah, that'd be great. And all Dana White complained is
because he complained, supposed.
Speaker 6 (35:09):
I heard, yes, all right. The next question is going
to be from Lucky Tony.
Speaker 3 (35:14):
Hi, Lucky Tony.
Speaker 6 (35:15):
He wants to know have you ever had phone sex
and did you enjoy it?
Speaker 3 (35:21):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (35:24):
No, but yeah, of course everyone's done that. But I know,
I don't remember.
Speaker 3 (35:28):
Really enjoying it. Now, I did not think it was
that great. Lorena.
Speaker 8 (35:33):
This one time back in middle school, I actually called
a hot line.
Speaker 6 (35:37):
I called a hot line.
Speaker 3 (35:39):
It was like.
Speaker 8 (35:39):
One hundred and something inappropriate and it was an actual
like sex hotline, and I was like, oh my gosh.
And then we ended up prank calling every man in
our phones and we pretended to be those hotline specialists.
I think it's so funny.
Speaker 1 (35:55):
It was so funny in the early days of Fox
Sports Radio before the internet took off. If you misstyled
the number by one digit, you got a sex line.
Speaker 3 (36:05):
Oh yeah, and it was legendary. What about your cool?
Speaker 6 (36:10):
Yes, and I liked it as a as a teenager.
Speaker 1 (36:14):
But you know it kind of as a teenager, you're
pretty much yeah, you know anything in that area exactly.
Speaker 3 (36:21):
Good thing? All right, What is next?
Speaker 6 (36:23):
What do we got Bobby and Florida.
Speaker 3 (36:24):
I would like to know, Keylin Pie, Bobby.
Speaker 6 (36:27):
Are you grabbing a burger or a hot dog at
the summer cookout.
Speaker 3 (36:33):
Yeah, I don't hate the hot dog. I love the burger.
I'm a burger guy.
Speaker 1 (36:37):
Fourth of July, I'll do hot dog because I feel
like that's just that, you know, the sausage is connected
with the fourth of July. But I generally go for
the burger. And there's only certain hot dogs I like,
what about you?
Speaker 8 (36:47):
Lareda always has to be the grilled hot dog. And
now I have my Wiener Schnitzel hat that says I
love American Wieners, So I will wear that hat while
I eat the hot dog.
Speaker 3 (36:57):
You're ready to go. You're accessive outfit.
Speaker 6 (37:00):
Oh, this is it's easy. A burger and a hot dog. Like,
what are we doing here?
Speaker 3 (37:06):
Yeah? A burger and there you go, double up?
Speaker 6 (37:09):
All right?
Speaker 1 (37:09):
What's next is ask Ben your questions our answers. If
you like this bit, we do it every week at
this time. If you don't like it, we only do
it once a week. So who they all cares?
Speaker 6 (37:17):
Next, Donkey Sausage wants to know what's your favorite number
of friars to grab and eat at once.
Speaker 3 (37:23):
Usually I don't count them.
Speaker 1 (37:25):
I just grab a big handful, so it's probably like
four or five, six or four to seven.
Speaker 3 (37:30):
I would guess at one time.
Speaker 6 (37:31):
Lorena, I do one at a time.
Speaker 3 (37:33):
Oh, she's terrible, such a girl. What about you? Cool?
Speaker 6 (37:36):
I think three is the perfect perfect number there.
Speaker 3 (37:39):
I'm in like four to seven range. I'm a bigger
guy than you. Go Kop It's yeah, there's more. I
get bigger hands.
Speaker 6 (37:44):
For sure, Donkey Sasage. Would you rather have a mullet
or a mohawk?
Speaker 3 (37:49):
Oh, mohawk's cooler, man, Yeah, mohawk, mohawk, mister T back
in the day. Give a big starback of it.
