free rate quote. Back at it again, and the NBA
Draft is plausibly today. This is our Thursday show. So
the NBA Draft coming up in many, many hours from
right now, and one of the stories which is all
over the place involves the New York Knicks. There's an
obsession with what Phil Jackson is going to do with
the Knicks on Draft day, and specifically with Chris Stops Porzingis.
(00:48):
Now Jackson confirming all of the chatter this week that
the Knicks are looking to trade Porzingis. That was not
fake news, that was not that was accurate news. As
the zen Master unloading on a state run New York
Nick TV interview the MSG Network in New York, Jackson
(01:10):
confirming that indeed, the phone is ringing and it's all
about Porzingis, and the Knicks are listening. They're not slamming
the phone down. They're not not answering the phone. They
are They're opened, they are open to this. It hasn't
been appetizing enough for the Knicks, but they are opened.
So I wanted to talk about this now. The zen
(01:31):
Master made several declarations. He made several declarations here, including
the fact that he said, as much as the Knicks
love Porzingis, they have to look out for their best interests.
We're giving calls, you know, as much as we value
Chris stops and you know what he's done for us.
(01:52):
When a guy doesn't show up at an exit meeting,
everybody starts speculating on you know, the duration or yours
you move ability from a club. So we've been getting calls,
all right. So that's Phil jaf phone has been ringing.
Phil never does interviews in the off season. He hates
this is painful for him. But Phil again talking about
(02:13):
Porzingis and the fact that there is a plan, there
is a there is a lot going on here. We're listening,
but we're not intrigued yet at this level. But as
much as we love this guy, you know, we have
to do what's good for our club, all right. So
I assume the Knicks would want and we'll ask Phi, Phil,
you want like Lebron James in return, right, you would
(02:33):
take Lebron, maybe Steph Curry, Kevin Durant return. Yes, you
know what it brings? Does the bringings two starters and
a draft pick or you know something that's even beyond
that is something that we have to look at. As
far as going down the road, it's always down the road,
all right, So now we move on here. This is
Phil had a lot to say. The one that got
my attention though, was the one we're Phil dug in
(02:57):
and pretty much laid out how Chris stops Porzing has
written his own ticket out of a Knicks uniform. I
don't think I've ever had a player over twenty five
years of coaching, maybe thirty not coming to an exit meeting.
So it's not happened to me. I know it happens
(03:17):
to other people and other players, and his you know,
his brother and his agent have said, you know, don
played it, but you know, still it's a chance for
a person to express themselves. And I had a real
good relationship with Chris Damps over the last two years,
so it was kind of surprising. Yeah, so the question is,
how should Chris Stop Porzingis of the Knicks feel about
(03:39):
all this? And I got two things here, regretful and
I'm gonna go depressed. And I'll tell you what. Number One,
Phil Jackson. We know he's not a great poker player.
We just played the sound right there, and he revealed
why the Knicks are even considering the possibility of trading
what has become the franchise center piece because of the
(04:01):
fact that Porzingis did not show up to that exit
an interview. You can say that's an overreaction, but that's
how Phil Jackson feels, and he's not hiding from that.
And that was a reference to porzingis decision to essentially
spit a loogie in Phil Jackson's face and say I'm
not going to go to that meeting. I don't want
to part of that. And he was upset, supposedly because
(04:23):
if Carmelo Anthony was not treated right, God, it's ridiculous.
That's a soap opera. And so this is partly a
generational divide, Like Phil Jackson demands certain things accountability, personal responsibility,
and in the head of Phil Jackson, this is insubordination
by christops Porzingis, and I would think that he is
(04:47):
going to regret the fact that he didn't go to that.
And Phil's also upset because while he has talked to Porzingis,
it is not Phil's favorite form of communication. Well, reached out.
You know, we've communicated, not through voice or anything, although
I've tried to call. But yeah, it's it's got to be.
(05:08):
And they say, no worries. He's working hard, and you
know there's plenty of pictures on the internet about him
working hard and working at it, so yeah, we'll get
it back. Yeah. So Phil Jackson, who's what is he seventy?
He don't want to be texting Chris stops Porzingis. Hell,
I don't. I'm not a Texter, is what he's essentially saying.
(05:28):
We know Phil's not great at Twitter, so he's probably
not that great at texting Porzingis. But that is not
a sort you want to fall on. If you're Chris
Stops Porzingis, you don't not let Carmelo fight his own
battles here. This is not a noble battle for Porzingis.
And you combine that with the fact lead in the
(05:48):
season last year, there were some signs that the Nicks
were worried about Porzingis showing some Carmelo like tendencies where
he was a bit of a dog, and they were
not happy about that. And so it all adds up
to where now Porzingis is being dangled and the draft
is to night and his Porzingis gonna be traded before
the NBA Draft gets started at seven o'clock Eastern time.
(06:11):
And the second thing here, if I am Chris stops Porzingis,
I would also feel depressed because this did not have
to happen. He's twenty one years old. He's become a
big name for the Knicks. The Knicks has been terrible
since he arrived, and they were terrible before he arrived.
But you're twenty one years old, you're living in New York,
(06:31):
your big name. The Knicks aren't very good. But to
figure they'll build around Porzingis, he could be there for
the better part of a decade. Is he's a unicorn?
And the special yes, yes, that will not come back
to hunt Phil Jackson at all? Will it? No? Not
at all? Have you ever called anyone over the age
of like nine a unicorn? Porzingis is twenty one years old,
(06:56):
and Phil Jackson just called him. I know that's his nickname.
I get it, and I'm not that naive to this,
but called him a unit. Can we play that again?
This is wonderful. We're gonna add this to our rotation.
This is great. He's a unicorn in the special Is
that allowed? Are you allowed to have a unicorn in
the NBA? Is that like a violation of the collective
(07:19):
bargaining Agreement? Somehow? We'll have to look into that. But
I would go with the emotion of depressed. I would
also have heartburn if I'm Porzingis. He thinks he's beating
the system. And it is certainly possible that Porzingis will
end up in another good situation that Boston Celtics have
been mentioned. I could end up with the team in
(07:39):
the LA, So there's a chance that that happens. There's
also possible that Phil Jackson could be vindictive and send
him to the NBA's version of Siberia, which would be
what Sacramento, who has a couple of top ten picks,
and the Knicks would like to get a couple of
top ten picks that got extra draft picks right in
another pick down the line, and so That's that's where
(08:02):
we stand on this. And those few but loyal New
York basketball fans are hyper ventilating over this. They've they've
had a tough time dealing with the Porzingis rumors. And again,
I want to go back to something that we just
said here. The Knicks have stunk since Chris Stops arrived.
(08:22):
I agree, he's somewhat interesting, and he's a pretty good player,
and he's done some pretty neat things with the Knicks,
but it's not like the Knicks if they got rid
of Porzingis, like this would be the death of the franchise.
That's that's not accurate anyway. The bottom line, even if
Phil Jackson does not end up trading Porzingis today on
(08:44):
NBA Draft Day, it is pretty obvious here that the
message has been sent to what Phil likes to call
the Unicorn, the lot via Unicorn there that the zen
Master he's had enough. He's coached a bunch of looney tunes.
When he was with the Chicago Bulls, the Lakers players
like Dennis Rodman multiple times and others, and he's like, hey, yeah,
(09:06):
you gotta show up, and all those space cadets and
there were a bunch of freak shows, but at least
they were professional enough to show up to their exited views.
That's a big deal for Phil Jackson. And it's Chris
stops porzingis because he was not accountable. Accountability there's a
good word that has put himself in the middle this
(09:27):
and now he's being tossed around the flea market of
the NBA. All right, this is the Ben Mallers Show
on Fox and we will take your phone calls. You
know the number you can be part of this and
also available on Twitter at Ben Maller. That's at Ben Maller.
You can be part of the show and our Facebook
page Ben Mallard Show. That's Ben Mallers Show. Edmund Dallas
(09:50):
Steamboat Willie is here as well. I am here and
I got to ask you, yes, sir, how are you
dealing with your surroundings in the Fox Sports radio studios
are very different than they were yesterday. Yeah, there's a
layers of work going on behind the scenes, just some
very hard working people that are busting their ass Eddie
because they were The entire studio is now blue. Yes,
(10:12):
they love the color blue. Here apparently we got our
kitchen is blue. This is nice though. This is like
I've worked here for almost twenty years and this is
Fox Sports Radio logos everywhere. This is much better than
how it was. They've redone in the process of redoing
the studios. As we're doing the show, I'm told they're
almost done those. Does this make you you think this
will up your performance level at all in those surroundings? Well,
(10:34):
I usually like the studio darker, Eddie, and it's a
very light in here because the people need to see
what they're doing. So I'm I was a little off.
That was That was not my masterpiece right there. That
was not my mona Lisa. But we will, we will
press on and once they these guys leave, I'm gonna
make it pitch black in here. Oh there, let's see.
They're turning the lights they just was that Dave Weis
just turned the lights on. You can turn them off.
(10:54):
I don't. I don't need the lights on. Yeah, but
it was nice. Even the microphone is not They have
the logo on them, and this is like a real
deal here. We may have to do a little periscope
action later, do you think so? Yeah? People like to
I know what kind of environment we work in. They
like to see behind the scenes. What about your room?
Is your room still the same? Yeah, still the same. Yeah.
They don't care about you, I know, Yeah, they care
about me. They don't care about you. See you see
(11:16):
that I don't know about you so much some of
the other people. Is this you believe this is for
the daytime talent? Is that you don't think they're worried
about the overnight show. Here they look good and the
other west you might just be the beneficiary of it. Well,
the show that looks good talks good, right and't know
how it works. Yeah, my ass feels so good right now. Yeah,
it's wonderful. It's very excited, all right. I know you're
(11:37):
you're very excited about the NBA draft. Also, Eddie years
off for that, counting down the minutes, you know, a
little timer on your phone and you'll be listening to
all the great coverage here on Fox Sports Radio and
monitoring everything. You know. Oh, there's no question, is yeah?
Somebody wants to say, is that right? Oh, there's no question.
So did you watch any baseball? And I was at
a baseball game. I saw the Mets. We'll talk more
(11:59):
about later. You went to another bas game back down, man,
take it slow. There's plenty. There's plenty of the Dodgers
on a rampage of the Mets song. I was texting
all my friends in the media that are Mets fans
pointing out how terrible the Mets are. I loved it.
It's so much fun. I'm glad this is a terrible
Mets baseball team and I'm enjoying every second of it
because I've worked with a bunch of people that love
(12:20):
the Mets and mister Met and everything related to the Mets,
and they are a disgrace. Not only a baseball team,
they are a disgrace this season. Eddie, I can't disagree
with you on that. I don't think those Mets fans
would either. Yeah, probably so, all right, Ben Maller Sewan
Fox will take your phone calls. Also again on Twitter
at Ben Maller. That's at Ben Maller. If you'd like
(12:44):
to be part, we'll call this one Spurred into Action.
We'll get to that. We'll do it next. The Ben
Maller Show is seventy nine percent more enjoyable when you
join us on Twitter. It's the backdoor way to be
heard on the radio. You can message the mallor posse
by following Ben on Twitter. He's at Ben Maller and
you could follow me Eddie Garcia. I'm at Eddie on Fox.
(13:06):
My lips have been on it NLI from the guy
co Fox Sports Radio Studios. It's Ben Maller, Kurt Rights
and says Phil Jackson is unhealthier than coconut oil. It's
from apparently Nick fans feel that, Yeah, what's up with that?
I my wife was on a big coconut oil thing,
(13:27):
but now it's you're gonna die if you get coconut oil.
Is that what happened? So I've not heard about that.
You didn't see the story that coconut oil is bad
for you? Now? No, what do you do with the
coconut oil? Cook with cook with it? Yeah, you're For
a while, you were supposed to you clean your mouth
with it. There was all kinds of using can do
everything with it. It's one of those magic. Well, for
(13:50):
a while, my wife reads these websites and whatever the
trend is she goes for. But now I think I'm
going to die because for about a year and a
half I had nothing but coconat oil, and apparently that's
bad for me. And I'm going to be meeting with
We'll miss you that, yes, Ernie says, been with that
construction going on nearby and being the voice of the
(14:12):
late night at Fox at least? Are you wearing a
hard hat? No, I've got headphones. Oh we have hard
hats though. Do you still have yours? Oh? That's right,
I do, but not not with me. I've got mine
in the car. I can get it just in case
of emergency situations. Group. Yeah, just in case I run
into you know, some broncos, you know, fan meet up
or something. Yeah, we gotta bring those back for football season.
(14:34):
I got my ram My ram helmets somewhere. All right,
it's Ben Allas show on Fox. Let's go to Clint
in Cincinnati. He's got a golden ticket and he is
on Fox Sports Radio. Hello, Clint, I think this is
this three hour Clint. You were on hold for three
hours the other night, Clint, Yes, I was last week. Yeah.
(14:58):
How's that going for it? That's going a lot better
now with two gold tickets? Well, now you only have one.
Now you're done what you already used? You just use one.
You're using one right now. Well, next week I'm gonna
use the other. One. I'm driving back from a game
in Detroit with the Buddy, So now you should you
shouldn't use it, then you should just stay on hold
(15:18):
and hear the whole show. That would be the way
to do it. You get the entire program. We'll keep
you on hold. On a hold, Clint, We'll call you
hold Clint. Yeah, well, I was calling in because I'm
on top of the world. I just won the World
Series in twenty twenty two with the Anaheim Angels. Oh, congratulations,
that's right, Cooper Loop has won the World Series many
(15:40):
times playing with the Angels and the Mike Howel's Mike
Chuck gonna be there. He's gonna be like thirty five
or something like twenty thirty three or something in twenty
twenty two. Yeah, yeah, I hit I hit one hundred
and three home runs and one hundred and sixty nine
RBIs that year? He Clint? You know there are but
listening to this. I don't do you think they want
(16:01):
to hear about your video game playing. I mean not
that I'm not. I'm gonna admit I'm impressed that you're
so good at the video game. But there are there
are people we believe that are listening that. Do you
think they want to hear that. I'm just I'm just wondering. Well, well,
I'll probably not wanted. I wanted to give a trade
deal to you, me being a red sand and we
have Billy Hamilton. I know you love Billy. I like that.
(16:22):
I don't need him anymore though, I don't need him. Yeah,
I'm good, I don't need him. Yeah, I just scoring five, six, seven, eight, nine,
ten runs twelve runs a game. I'm good. Yeah, I
needed him like you. No, No, Clint, you should have
traded me Billy Hamilton like a month ago. I would
have made the trade for Billy Hamilton a month ago.
But I don't need Billy Hamilton right now. I got
(16:43):
what I got. No, I don't need I don't need him.
I got Bellinger, guys insane, Cody Bellinger. I'm set up.
I'm trying to decide where I want to know when
the parade's gonna be. That's what I want to know.
My problem is what trades to go down. You know,
the streets have changed in LA since nineteen eighty eight,
the last time the Dodgers won the World Series. Streets
(17:06):
are different now. They can't go the same way they
went in nineteen eighty eight. They're gonna have to come
up with a different plan. I know you're worried about that, Clint,
you're concerned. Yeah, well, hey, you guys have a great show.
All right, we'll get back to the What are you
playing tonight? What video games are you playing tonight? Clint?
I'm playing the same game. I'm right now playing the Texans.
You're playing on a contract for one hundred and twenty
(17:28):
one million dollars. Congratulations, don't spend it all in one place, please,
it's a very exciting die. You might want to post
that on Instagram. All right, thank you. It's video game, Clint.
Now you know why he was on hold for three hours?
How long is three and a half hours? He was
on old for you? Now you know the answer? Well,
(17:49):
I mentioned and it was the teas here spurred into action.
And it is not It is not a done deal,
but it has certainly been talked about a lot that
these San Antonio Spurs are looking to wheel and deal,
and the report from Fox Sports dot Com, among others
(18:09):
LaMarcus Aldridge was their big pick up a couple years
ago out of Portland, has apparently fallen out of favor. Now,
why do I say he's fallen out of favor because
LaMarcus Aldrew's his name has popped up all over the
place as a possible trade item for San Antonio. And
one of the reports, the Fox Sports report, had LaMarcus
(18:32):
Aldrews going to Sacramento for a top ten pick. These
the Kings have two top ten picks. Doesn't Aldridge have
a heart problem? We talked about that. I guess they
were able to treat it like they were able to
help him with it. And if you're Sacramento, would you
trade a top ten pick for someone who clearly, in
the eyes of the Spurs underperformed. We know Aldridge when
(18:55):
he if he goes back to the way he was
in Portland, he will not be an underachiever. He will
put up great numbers. But in San Antonio, it doesn't
feel like a great fit between the Marcus Aldridge and
the Spurs, and would appear these Spurs feel that way.
But do you really want to take a top ten pick?
You get a gamble on a nineteen or a twenty
(19:15):
year old and hope that they come in there and
able to perform at a high level. I mean, that's
it's a bit of a risk. It's a bit of
a risk. All rights men. Maller's show on Fox. We
say hello to Len, who's in Washington on Fox Sports Radio. Hello, Len, Hey,
how's it goal man Land. I'm still celebrating the win
(19:36):
earlier this week, And do you know all about that? Land?
Game show victories never get old as the all time
champ of It's very say you need to do a
cron around the bases. Yeah, we slammed it out of
the park. I was we embarrassed Eddie. It was humiliating
for Eddie Garcia. I hope we're going to keep on
going just to totally annihilate him. Well, we did anil
(19:58):
and we embarrassed him. And let let the record show
several people have put an Outland since the moral corruption
of my staff has been corrected by the extensive measures
I've taken here for fairness and game shows, I have
done marvelous. It has been breathtaking how good we have
been at these game shows. And you were part of that.
(20:20):
So thank you, Lenn. You were a big part of that.
You had great confidence and you are more than welcome
at any point to play password and we will continue
to embarrass these guys. Oh, I think I might have
to team up with somebody else. Well, you won't win
with those guys. You will not win with those guys.
(20:41):
All right? Did you hear the kind of clues that
were given out on password yesterday was embarrassing? All right?
That was not a highlight at all. I the clues
that we had you had to work with were enchanting.
That's how good they were. They were enchanting. You were
enchanted with how good the clues were they were. Yeah,
all right, anything else? Are you good? Hey? I'm just
glad my Mariners are finally five hundred again. I was
(21:04):
saying the same thing I was, I thank god the
Mariners are playing better. Hopefully now they can get above
five hundred. Stay above five hundred. Yeah, it maybe compete
for something. Well, now you're just being delusional. So now
you've lost me on that. The Mariners in my I
don't even remember when the Mariners are get You barely
(21:24):
remember back in before before the internet boom, the Mariners
had some good teams. There's way back in me, you know. No,
don't don't even give me goal. It's like it's been
fifteen twenty almost twenty years, at least fifteen years that
those are the high points of the Mariners. Yes, yes,
I had this shirt and then people will tell me
(21:45):
you need to throw that out because it's falling apart.
I said, oh, get a new one when they win
another division championship. You would rather walk around bare chested
than has been long gone retired for quite a while
now as it just totally just gone. All right, are
you related to the Mariner guy that calls up Nick,
the Mariner guy that calls up one of our regulars
that Coop didn't think was a regular? No, no, okay,
(22:07):
all right, all right, thank you, Lenn. I I gotta go.
But there's our friend Lenn. All right, So Ben Mallers
Show on Fox What a hack? We'll get to that.
And also we have an update in a game that
we have not forgotten about. It's been going on for
several months, and we will we will open up the
crime files on the Ben Maller Show. We'll get to
(22:29):
all that in sixty seconds, no long commercial break. But
first let's find out what's trending. The Ben Maller Show
is coming to you live from the Geico Fox Sports
Radio Studios fifteen minutes could save you fifteen percent or
more on car insurance. Visit Geico dot com for a
free rate quote. And now back to Ben Maller. Why
(22:49):
the MLB pick him coming up in a few minutes,
and also the who am I game? But first exciting news.
We've been very stagnant on the NFL book him, but
we have an NFL book him up day. We're taking
out to y Key Key. I know, I love Hawaii,
go there as often as I can. So wonderful place
(23:13):
to visit. The maybe lived someday, but right there Honolulu
party scene and celebrating his birthday. Green Bay Packers, defensive lineman,
Detroit guy on and how did he spend his birthday?
He got hammered. He went for it. How do I
(23:35):
know he got hammered because he got busted for driving
under the influence in the little intoxication situation there. And
so that is an arrest that adds at least the
point or two to who know who had the Green
Bay Packers. That's right, justin Cooper, you can put it
on the bar. Yeah, the NFL book him. Congratulations, Coop,
(23:59):
I was reading at that point, was already he was
already suspended for the first four games. This could lead
to a release. You could get a lot of points
out of this coop, So that's a big one. We're
in the home stretch here. Yeah, that's not that we
want this to happen. No, No, it's wrong and no
one should drink and drive. It's it's immoral. You should
not do that. It's wrong, dangerous, Yes, of course not.
(24:22):
But if you do do something like that, you should
be disciplined by getting released from your team and being
put on the commission. I don't know about that. You're
kind of aren't you more of a spirit of law
than literally law? Guy? Isn't that how you kind of
roll there right now? Not in the bookam world? Not?
So how far benefits him? How far behind are you?
(24:44):
I know you were trailing right, but how does this
obviously helps? Yes, this will give me my tenth point,
so I will trail you by only a point. But
Danny G's out ahead with seventeen points, so I need
that release. So he's he's guys, how many points do
I have? You have? Eleven? All right? I need like
seven guys on the Browns to get arrested. Can we
have like the Browns end up. I don't know what
(25:04):
the hell. Party boat? Yeah, party boat would be good.
You know what I'm what I'm gonna do. You got
the brighton minute, You got the Brown. I need the Vikings, Yes,
I need love Boat parts the Brown. I don't even
know who you have. I got the Rams. I can't
remember all my team. I got the list right now.
I have the Rams, Vikings, Broncos, Dolphins, Seahawks, Jets, Jags,
(25:25):
and Bucks. And it's summer, it's hot, guys go out,
they do stuff. I gotta at least get a dolphin
arrested before they started camp for something, right, can I
at least get the Miami dolphin popped in there? And
now is Eddie in the last place season? Last right?
One point? Yeah? So you have? You have the Bengals, Patriots, Steelers, Saints, Raiders, Eagles, Giants,
(25:49):
and Lions. And the Giants were the only team to
come through for him so far. I feel something coming on.
For the Dallas Cowboys. You need to count there. They're
always good for a few points at the last minute.
I have Pacman. Pacman hasn't gotten in trouble in a
couple of weeks. He's due to get arrested again. He
gets arrested. Every three months he's due to get arrested.
I could totally see like a member of the Saints,
(26:10):
right the hanging out, having to have a couple of
drinks at Pat O'Brien's there and just going out and
going for it. Not that you should do that again, Eddie,
it would be wrong. But if you're new to our show,
we got big Fourth of July coming up here. Oh yeah,
who wait a minute, party legal fireworks? You have the
who has the giants? I have the giants? Oh well, hey,
(26:34):
the guy's got one more hand there, Eddie. You know
you never know he JP use your toes. I'm guessing.
I don't think JPP will be using fireworks this year
on the fourth of July. Have a feeling he will
refrain from using fireworks. This is like the home stretch.
And remember in the year's past. Now we've done the
NFL book them, which we try to point out we
(26:55):
don't want anyone to be arrested, but if they are
arrested for crimes in the offseason, we want to get
credit for that. And you get one point for a misdemeanor,
three points for a felony. If an arrest results in
a suspension or a release, commissioners lest five points for that.
You get five points for that. Any coach that gets
(27:15):
arrested gets a couple of points. So for example, if
Bill Belichick went goes on a bender and somehow gets
arrested in like a bar fight, I get two points
for them. And if an NFL executive were to be
popped for something that's a that's worth four points. So
front office arrest four points. That's that's the scoring system.
(27:38):
That's very No one else is doing this, but no
one else has this this game. Ye yeah, I'm surprised
they haven't ripped it off. All right. We did that
Danny Kpatrick thing. We had to retire that one though.
That was one of my favorite games though. Was accurate though.
The game was which lap will Danny could crash in?
And there was a winner. Like every other week there
(27:59):
was a winner on the NASCAR circue. You knew she
was gonna it would be honest, it was the only
exposure she was She shouldn't win. It loses all the time.
But even her boyfriend has now passed her by wow,
being a better driver. Look at you the other day. Yeah,
all right, uh, Robbie writes, and he says, hey, Ben,
thanks for bringing up the Mariner's complete lack of success.
(28:21):
It has been sixteen long years since the Mariners last
made and Robbie points out he was eight years old
the last time the Mariners made the playoff. The man's
an adult, the man's got hair in his jesse, he's
got bills to pay, and the Mariner has been garbaged
his entire adult life. It's brutal, it's not right. All right,
Let's say hello to Kyle who's drinking on his porch
(28:43):
and Richmond and he's on Fox Sports Radio. Hello, Kyle,
you're changing up your alcohol manures at the same stuff. Yeah,
rum and Cokee. That should be your nickname, Rum and Coke. Kyle.
So Hey, I'll few things one, you know what I
(29:04):
want Philadelphia to draft. Hey, Kyle, I need to turn
the radio up more. I want to see how I
sound on the radio. It's very odd. I don't know
how I sound. Can you turn it all the way up? No? No,
not turn it up and walk over there, put the
phone down and turn it up. I want to hear. Okay,
are you serious? Yeah, of course I dream as a child,
(29:27):
when I was eight years old, I wanted to be
on the radio. I'm an adult now I'm on the radio.
I don't hear I sound I get to talk at
yeah about man? All right, go turn it all the
way up. Yeah right, sounds good. Yeah, all right, We're
(29:49):
coming in loud and proud and Richmond. I want it.
I'm still talking. He said, Hey, Kyle, you gotta turn
it down. You gotta turn it down. Not Kyle, it's
wrong with you. Turn it down. Thank you. Kyle's got
(30:09):
some tendencies that remind me of other people that have
called the show. Helmet Man for example. Kyle's got a
little helmet Man in him, right, a little bit Helme
Man usually have something else though, in the background, not
our show. Yeah, Helmet Man just listens to music and
some other things. He's not he doesn't actually listen. We
haven't heard from Helmet Man since he said he discovered
(30:30):
his family, his long lost family, and then he stopped
calling the show right after that. Do you think he's
replaced his radio family with his now his real family. Yeah,
I mean maybe they just put him on a better path. No,
he's on a fine path. What are you talking about
he goes around and sells merchandise to Snoop Dogg and
George Lopez and other I just mean his late night
(30:51):
hours others seeing Deeva's celebrities in LA. What's wrong with that. No,
they're making sure that all of his merchandise is is
on the up and up too. Yeah, all right, Uh
let's see here. Uh guy right since says, really, mister Mallory,
I honestly told my my cavity was gone because of
swishing eight months later, no joke. Oh, that's going back
(31:14):
to the coconuta. So this guy says, to keep doing
the cocon oil thing' it'll fix your mouth. You believe
that you don't need to go to the dentist. You
just put coconut oil in your mouth for twenty minutes
a day. You're good to go. But you gotta do
like the smell test, and you gotta do like look
for a little goo. Well, goo's never a wrong way
to goo. Who's never When I'm feeling lonely, I look
(31:35):
for goo, I do. That's very important. All right, it's
the Ben Maller right hand was getting a workout the
Ben Maller Show on Fox. Well our favorite NBA Space
Kit out of the moment is at it again. J R.
Smith has said it happened again. He claims he got
(31:57):
hacked the cavalier. R. Smith says, listen, I did not
say good bye Calves, but somebody did put on Facebook
that he said goodbye Cavaliers. And do we believe that
j R. Smith got hacked? Maybe no, I don't know.
I don't believe any of them get hacked. I don't
(32:17):
I know, that's what you gotta say. But come on now,
JR went on Twitter and says he said, I don't know.
I don't know what's going on here, JR said, with
social media. But this is crazy. I'm not leaving the Calves,
That's what JR declared. Well, if I was Lebron James,
I would the first thing I would do is trade
(32:38):
j R. Smith if I could, I would absolutely get
rid of him. I know Lebron and JR or BF
and on. But this is now twice in the span
of like a month that JR Has had to delete
things and said, hey, I got hacked, and yeah, I'm
with you, Eddie. I don't I don't believe he got
got hacked. I don't know exactly what's going on. Maybe
(32:59):
he's just I think he's having a good time with
his friends, boozing it up a little bit, and he's
kind of forgets that phone is always there right to
loaded weapon, right like this microphone in this brand new
showcase studio that I sit in here. Well, the microphone
does not go with you, you know, when you're out
and about. That's a good points for four hours, I
(33:21):
sit in front of a loaded weapon. At any moment,
you could say the thing you're not supposed to say.
If you say the thing you're not supposed to say,
you don't get to say anything else ever. Again, that's it.
It's over. I believe the people have left it. I
don't see anyone here working on the studio. So I'm
gonna I'm gonna try to turn the lights all the
way down. They are gone. I'm gonna turn the lights
back down. The light women bring back, hollering James. What
(33:42):
we gotta do? All right? Time Now for the who
am I? Game? This is where we pretend to be
somebody else. Thus we call the who am I? Game?
I am the only player in NBA history with at
least two thousand points one thousand rebounds, two hundred and
fifty blocks, one hundred made three points in my first
two seasons in pro basketball. Again, there's a lot to
(34:06):
work with a lot of numbers. Here's to pay attention.
I am the only player in NBA history with at
least two thousand points, one thousand rebounds, twenty two hundred
and fifty blocks, and one hundred made three pointers in
my first two years in the NBA. Who Am I?
A night without the Ben Maller Show is like a
(34:28):
daytime listening to one of those cookie cutter radio programs.
We're different. Join our community on Facebook, on a Facebook
dot com slash Ben Maller Show, and I live from
the Geico Fox Sports Radio Studios. It's Ben Maller. Well
the MLB Pickham coming up in a moment. Who am
I game? I am the only player in NBA history
(34:50):
with at least two thousand points, a thousand rebounds, two
hundred and fifty blocks, and one hundred made three pointers
in my first two seasons. Who am ah? That's the question.
What's the answer? Ivanson our buddy and Orlando is going
with Ben Simmons as his answer. That's a bulld answer,
bulled answer. Mike from the LBC clearly not cheating, checks
(35:12):
in with Larry Bird while Captain Cliche goes down Magic
Johnson Avenue, Swaggy Pe thrown out by the troller Rex
Tillerson from Kay Adams. We have Tree Rollins guests by
Frank in La Sean Figgins thrown out by Robbie the Mariner.
Fan and Tyler got this right. Clearly cheating and no, Manny,
(35:34):
it is not Alton Lister. Although that is a good name.
That is a good name. All right, Eddie, do you
have an answer? Paley's going with Steve Eisman. You want
to double down on I did enjoys. By the way,
I'm gonna go with Mark Ivorni all former Utah Jaska
Mark Ivroni is it? No, it's not Mark Ivroni. The
correct answer is as Phil Jackson calls him the unicorn,
(35:55):
Chris stops porzingis of the Knicks. He is, He's a
unicorn and he's special. Yeah, that's right, very important. You
gotta love the unicorn. You also have to love the MLB.
Pick them man, the way we go. Let's do this.
(36:19):
We're gonna pick three players each daily Fantasy. The overall stands.
But people have been complaining Coop that we don't update
the overall stand. He's on the air enough, so we
should do that more. And we're gonna have like weekly
winners and who's doing the best. I will update you
right now that I was the winner last last night,
(36:41):
or like overall overall, Danny g is still in the
league with sixteen wins. I am right behind him with
fifteen wins, then you with nine, Ben, and then Eddie
bringing up the rear with eight. Well, that's because he
picks players out of like Japan and the Mexican League.
That's part of the problem. That's the other thing. Okay,
all right, we'll coop you up the first pick. It's
the MLB pick him. I'll pick the judge, Aaron judge
(37:06):
against your angels, hating on your angela great, all right,
Danny G. You are up, Danny G. Goldie, Paul Goldschmidt,
all right, Paul Goldschmidt is gone. I will go with
let's see you who don't want to go. How about
we go with and Rouma cutch it he's been hot lately. Eddie.
I'll take Cody Bellinger, all right, you got him? And
(37:26):
Edwin I'll take Matt Carpenter of the Cardinals. Matt Carpenter
back to Danny g On the MLB pick him. Charlie Blackman,
good way to block Cooper Blackman. I like that. I
will go with Jake Lamb Okay and Anthony Rizzo Rizzos
(37:46):
off the board. Back to Danny G's the MLB pick him.
I like the way he celebrates ya cl Yeah in
your face, Mets, you suck Mets a terrible All right,
let's see I need I need some power here. Let's
go with I never heard of this guy. He's sit
much home runs lately. Matt Davidson of the White Sox.
Very generic name. I never heard of him, but apparently
(38:08):
he's been playing for the White Sox. He's Hawk Harrelson's
favorite player, unless he's not. And with the final pick
on the got to be Kenny, MLB pick him Edmund
Dallas Steamboat, Willie, Lonnie Chisenhall, the Great Lonnie Chisenhall of
the Cleveland Indians, And there it is, the MLB pick him. Yeah.
I gotta rant at some point. I have to find
(38:28):
the right time to rant and rip the New York
Mets apart and Major League baseball. I got a lot
of issues. They're worried about the future of baseball. People
are freaking out, and I have a very simple solution
I will reveal at some point as we make our
way through the late night hours that will help baseball
out a lot. Could it be an old school basketball trade.
Typically in the NBA, when you trade a well known player,
(38:52):
you don't get a well known player in return, you
get crap in return. Well, there's chatter of an in
BA trade that could go down later today that will
absolutely involve players of name value, star for star. Welcome
in the beginning of another hour. It's the Ben Maller Show.
(39:14):
We are in the air everywhere the vast Fox Sports
Radio network, emanating live from the Geico Fox Sports Radio studios.
Fifteen minutes could save you fifteen percent or more on
your car insurance. Just visit gego dot com for a
free rate quote. Counting down the minutes, We'll have NBA
(39:36):
Draft coverage all day long on Fox Sports Radio. And
the thing that caught my attention, thing that cut my
attention that I want to talk about now will circle
back around to Kris stops porzingis because there is something
new that happened within the last half hour, evolving Kristops Porzingis.
But this involves other players who are of height but
(39:56):
cannot shoot. Centers not in vogue in the NBA anymore.
But we could have a mega deal before they started
the NBA Draft involving DeAndre Jordan. Now, this is a
follow up to a story that we provided you earlier
in the week that DeAndre Jordan's name has been tossed
out the Star, the hammered dunk man from the Clippers.
(40:19):
DeAndre Jordan, his saga is playing out in the gossip
mill of the NBA and his name continues to be
floated on the flea market of basketball. And if you
have not heard the latest, this could be gigantic. Now,
yesterday the word was that the Clippers were talking to
the Suns. That was pooh pooed that DeAndre could go
(40:41):
to Phoenix. It would have been a great trade for
the Suns. That's not gonna happen. And now the ben
Mallows show learning the Clippers they are in conversations with
the Detroit Pistons about a swap. Now, there are some
other parts of this, but the two key components would
be DeAndre Jordan, going to the city to power up
(41:02):
the Eastern Conference Pistons, and in return, Andre Drummond would
be heading to Los Angeles to be part of the Clippers.
So I wanted to talk about this and the way
we will break this down the question, what do you
make the latest rumor du jour involving DeAndre Jordan. I
(41:22):
will answer it this way. This latest trade rumor DeAndre
Jordan for Andre Drummond is tempting and logical. Right, it's
tempting and logical. I'll tell you why. Hey, Andre Drummond
is essentially cut out of the same cloth as DeAndre
Jordan and then the same mold of a player. Andre
drummond strengths are similar strength to DeAndre Jordan. Drummond is
(41:47):
able to rebound upon she blocks a lot of shots,
and if you give him the basketball right around the rim,
he will throw it down. And the reason that the
Pistons could consider trading Andre Drummond and would consider trading him,
is because he has had a few issues allegedly. I
don't work for the Pistons with stan Van Gundi, and
(42:09):
they have not seen eye to eye. They've had some
some TIFFs and now and again over recent times, And
so the connecting of the dots is like, well, Drummonds
not happy playing for van Gundi, and the Pistons want
to keep van Gundi around. So if Stan's gonna stay,
trade Drummond. They got a new arena, would anyone go
(42:32):
out of their way to watch DeAndre Jordan in the
greater Detroit area? You're gonna drive out from the boondocks
outside of Detroit to go in and see a Pistons
game at that new arena? Would you be more inclined
to do that if DeAndre Jordan was wearing a Pistons uniform.
But Drummond, like Drummonds, got some rough edges around his game, right,
And this is one of those arguments that's going to
(42:53):
be made whether he's traded or not. The argument to
trade him, the argument to trade Andre Drummond is that
he will benefit from a change of scenery, all those
buzz terms that are used when a player is traded
that is seen as a malcontent or a troubled athlete,
and a fresh start with the Clippers. Doc Rivers is
a great players coach, the great Jerry West who is
(43:17):
in charge there. If he does decide to shake it up,
and by all accounts, Jerry West was hired to do
part of that, to change the roster a little bit.
The greatest mind in basketball, the greatest executive ever, Jerry West,
who's now working for the Clippers. So if Jerry West
signs off on this, I am not opposed to the
(43:37):
idea of Andre Drummond coming to the Clippers. And we
should point out that Drummond and DeAndre Jordan, it would
be like, if you compare foul shooting wise, Andre Drummond
makes DeAndre Jordan look like Steph Curry from the foul line.
Drummond can't even shoot forty percent, So that would actually
be a downgrade shooting foul shots. So they instead of
(43:58):
hacker DeAndre, they'll have hacker Drumming, and then the Pistons
gonna have hack of DeAndre and that'll be the way
it goes. Just wonderful. But against the second thing here,
from the Piston side of things, they can absolutely sell
DeAndre Jordan. I believe DeAndre has been in All Star Games,
He's had some big moments, He's played well on a
(44:19):
high profile team. The Clippers have been on a lot
of national TV games over the last couple of years,
and so they got that new arena. Bring those in
electrifying hammered dunks from DeAndre Jordan and the block shots
into the tenth row. Those are all good things. The
main reason I wouldn't if I was the Pistons, make
this trade is because of the fear of what happens
(44:41):
to DeAndre Jordan without a point guard. And Chris Paul
likely will stay with the Clippers. He's gonna get that
extra fifty million dollars and if he stays there and
bringing Andre Drummond and DeAndre goes to the Pistons. Last
I checked, Isaiah Thomas isn't playing there anymore, the old
Isaiah Thomas, and I don't think Chauncey Billips is still playing,
(45:03):
so they're out of the picture. There's not an elite
point guard for the Pistons. Who fed Chris Paul fed
DeAndre Jordan and set him up on some wonderful dunks.
Will you take away a top notch point guard. And
DeAndre Jordan is a player that has a YMCA type
of offensive game. He cannot do anything outside of a rim,
(45:26):
which is fine. We get one foot outside the rim,
He's screwed. It's okay though, as long as you have
a point guard that can feed him the wall. The
Pistons don't appear to have that. The parting shot on
this this particular trait which is not done yet not done.
It's just in the speculative stage at this point. But
if it did happen, it would accomplish two things for
(45:46):
the Clippers. It would shake things up, which is what
apparently the new GM the News are the messiah Jerry
West wants to do. So it would shake things up,
and the Clippers would get a solid NBA player in return.
So that's not that's not a net negative, that's a positive.
That's not a bad thing. And whether Jerry West goes
(46:06):
full overhaul or not, I would not do a full overhaul.
But Jerry West is getting paid five million dollars to
make these kind of decisions. And the Clippers would still
have a dominant rebounder. And again this all assumes that
Chris Paul would stay around. But mark my words, if
Chris Paul still is a Clipper and they get Andre Drummond,
Drummond will have the same hammered dunks that DeAndre Jordan
(46:29):
had and will be essentially the same player, look at
a very similar player, and supposedly, I guess he's like
five years younger than DeAndre Jordan. He's got an extra
time on his contract. So those are all things that
are factored in. DeAndre Jordan can leave after next season.
He is an unrestricted free agent. All right. It is
the Ben Mallar Show on Fox. This does not qualify
(46:54):
as a woge bomb. But within the last about thirty
five minutes or so, last thirty five minutes, the woge
tweeting out an update on the New York Knickerbocker's pursuit
to unload the insubordinate Chris stops Porzingis, who thought he
was a big enough star to not show up to
(47:16):
a work assignment. And Phil Jackson is enraged over that
and is looking to move on and get out of
the Porzingis business. And it's not hiding from it. But
the woge bomb, which is not this is like a
this is not a full bomb. This is not a
nuclear bomb. This is like a small bomb you can buy.
It's like Walmart or something like that. They don't I
(47:37):
don't think they sell bombs. Where can you buy bombs?
The Internet? The dark web, something like that, yeah, cherry bomb. Yeah,
like a cherry bomb. That's a good call. It Fourth
of July is coming up. You can buy them with bitcoins.
I wish I lived in a place you could shoot
fireworks off. Yeah with bitcoins yeah, or that weed currency
or what's your currency? Coop? Now you're not into bitcoins,
you've moved on from that. What are you into a ethereum? Yes? Yeah,
(48:00):
So everyone's stay a prayer that ethereum takes off, and
then then Coop will never be here again. He will
leave and he will laugh at all of us. But
Wode get to get the story, Mallard, all right. Wode says,
so far the Knicks and the Phoenix Suns have not
gotten any traction off on a Porzingis trade. And Wode
(48:24):
says the Knicks will not get Devin Booker. He's the
guy that they set up to score seventy against the Celtics.
Remember that game on like a Friday night soun Celtics
in Boston. But Wode says Booker will not be part
of the deal. Stay tuned. It's good to know Wog's up.
You think he's listening to the show. It's a big
(48:44):
fan of the show. All right, come on, he's probably
listening right now. Feel free to call in WoDES if
you want to, you know, drop any bombs. I know,
I know you're moving to the Evil four letter next week,
so you might want to get that last bomb in here.
On Fox Sports Radio and Plus, WoDES could be the
answer to a tribute question, who will be the first
guest on Fox Sports Radio after the new studio renovation
(49:06):
the new showcase studio here, which is just everyone's walking by.
Their jaws are open. They're so impressed. It's just amazing.
All the people in the building. People are stopping taking pictures.
It's it's really quite overwhelming here. It's very overwhelming to
be in this chair surrounded by just beautiful artwork all
over the walls here. It's just it's just fabulous, absolutely fabulous.
(49:28):
All right, it's the Ben Maala Show on Fox. Now,
you have a you have an update here, Cooper Loop,
We have a Coop update. What is the update for Coop? Yes, man,
it is actually for the NFL book. I'm okay, the
NFL book. I'm up there. Did someone get arrested in
the last half hour? Now? I wanted to check back
on the on the database just to make sure we
hadn't missed anything. Okay, and it turns out we had.
Oh well, get your scorecards out, players, get your scorecards out.
(49:52):
Hold on a sec. Let me get my scorecard out
on a hold, seck, I'm get in front of me.
There were three players that we overlooked. We missed three
arre Yes, yes, one was brand new. One was today
So that one's that was the green baby guy on
his birthday, right, that was the one that that one
we knew about. There was another one today? Another one? Yes?
What team? The Jets? The Jet got the Jets? Yes,
(50:14):
I got the Jets. I got the Jets. Who Lorenzo Mauldin?
Who's that? I don't even know who that is? He
is a linebacker? Yeah, we'll bring sure. Why not? He
was arrested for assault because he punched a man in
the face for allegedly spilling champagne on him. Okay, man,
he could be ready. So I got the Jets. Good,
(50:37):
that's a point for me. I pushed ahead of you.
Coop some more now, little cushion. Unfortunately, the other two
players that were overlooked earlier in the season, yeah, also
belonged to you band. What team? Yeah? That's scouting. Pay up.
You got it. You ripped me, You ripped me, and
you ripped me. I spent seven hours scouting rosters and
(50:59):
doing research for the NFL book. I'll write you, Ben Maller,
to give our producer Coop the loop of credit here,
because you're always talking about how we're always against you,
we never give you blah blah blah. He brought up
the shock you about these points for doing the right thing.
You would have never known about it. I would have
known about it. I have my fact checker. This is
(51:19):
the best executive producer you've ever had on this show.
You should have used to wait another year before you
get rid of this just goes to show you that
this just goes to show you that all this talk
about how we all stop, don't turn this in evidence,
present evidence. We got a good one. You're still trailing
(51:40):
by one point. So again, let me just recap what
Eddie's saying there, and yes, please do Eddie knows that
the moral compass of this show, the staff is so
haywire that when no one does what they're supposed to,
they should deserve that what I'm doing is presented evidence.
This is not there's no conspiracy. You're a posted that's
your job. But you claiming we're always against you, we're
(52:03):
cheating you, clearly that is not the case. Has provided
evidence that is not the case. I know you're upset
that the games have not gone your way lately. I
am upset that you will give credit and you won't
again be honest enough to say that there's no cheating
against you. Well, I fixed that, even though five I
(52:24):
don't owe you anything. There's no money that you lost
a bet. You let too many regulars on on Newbie
Night you did. I hope three more of your players
get arrest and you don't notice it. I'm not bringing
it up next time. Wow, you see that. You see
that Eddie. You were just praising him, and now all
of a sudden, you see now he's admitting he said.
You won't even admit admitting my fair and balanced attitude
(52:47):
towards the games that we play on this show. I've
had to change all the rules because of the intention
change the show has been going on here. Why because
I made it fair. I made the games you do,
I win, and I'm swing you. I didn't do anything.
On a little bit of a run. It'll turn it's
like Eddie Garcia, and then you'll be looking for a
(53:08):
new conspiracy. You have no chance if it's on the
up and up. That's what I've always said. Uh, and
you have been charboiled since we went on I have.
I just destroyed you last night. Every Yeah, but it's
just evening out because after you made the quote unquote
rule changes, you were blanked seventy six to nothing three
games in a row. So now it's evening out, evening out?
(53:29):
Is that right? Well, again, the listeners tell me. The
feedback I get is that they liked the games being
fair and they like the fact that I'm winning. They
have always been fair. They've not been fair. That's a lie.
We've caught you cheating on the air. That's how you
got the nickname Willie. You got the name. You accused
me of cheating. There's no proof of the listener knows
the truth, Eddie. Yes, they do agree, and you're in
(53:52):
the wrong and that's fine. Oh again, once again, correct,
the evidence was presented just moments ago that you get
treated fairly and are bogus. That is a separate issue.
That is not no we're talking about show. We're talking
about how you claim things are stacked up against you
and it's biased against you, a row to get you,
and Coope brings totally out of the blue evidence that Okay,
(54:14):
there was the arrest that happened and they were your teams,
and now you get points for him, and you still
won't give credit for what is real and there's no
cheating going on. I don't give pats on the back
when you do what you're supposed to do. I know
you've got a slight. What else do you do? I
know that you're always accusing and pointing fingers. You do,
you had no problem with that, but you won't give
(54:35):
pats on the back. I was in the right about
credit about that. No pats on the back, Just give credit, wredit. Relax.
It's not a false accusation. It was an accurate statement
that was going on. It was wrong. It was a
violation of federal law. The FCC was going to investigate here.
You know you can't cheat, and the amount of crap
committee your mouth right now is did you ever believable?
(54:57):
I know this is a cryptonite to you, Eddie, because
when the games are where you don't win, But did
you ever see the movie Quition I've won plenty Ben
the question, well, not when not when the game has
been but in a few weeks it'll turn and the
crew will start winning, and then you'll be like, you're
accusing him cheating again. Your weak link is when the
game is played on the up and up. That's your
weak link again. Last night you record speaks for itself.
(55:19):
I'm gonna wrest my case a good thing that you
know you don't get charged for lying on the radio
for anything, because if so, you would be in prison
right now serving two life sentence. Of course, there is
no bigger charlatan than Eddie Garcia it now. I want
to sketch edition a password so that we can we
can settle this before I want to. I don't have
any games. I'm gonna hurt from all these medals. I'm
(55:41):
gonna hurt my neck. I'm gonna have to see a
chiropractice that my neck is all messed up here. I'm
gonna need a massage. Would you like the massage? Me? No? No,
with coconut oil? All right, if you want to be
part of this, I give us a buzz. So what's
the coop? Do the math on that? How many points
do I have on the NFL. You have sixteen points, O, Danny,
(56:04):
are you feeling the nerves? Danny, You're feeling nervous right
now that Steve Harvey says, we got a good one.
And if you're gonna stop my my three peet, then
you know I take on the challenge. But we got
some how many weeks do we have left? I need
my buddies in the lapd listen to the show. If
any RAM player were to do something illegal, don't let
(56:25):
him off, you know, don't don't let him off. The
look and anybody in Minnesota, all my my guys in Minnesota.
I hear a lot of guys working law enforcement there.
You know what they did was if the Vikings have
an issue, when is our last day on the calendar
for when the first team goes to training camp? So
I have to look when the first team reports the
training camp. Now we've in the past, we actually have
gone all the way to the start of the regular season.
If you want, we can go all the way to
(56:47):
the start of the regular season. Well, it depending on
where Ben is in the standings or not. He look
at ADDIE's over there over there, set concrete date. Then
I have no chance to win. I'm just trying to
hold you accountable. Which look at yourself, so concerned. Look
at you, you're so worried about this. All right, it's
Ben mallishawan play. Give us a call, you know the number.
(57:09):
We will we'll take your phone calls, the whole thing,
and we'll call this decision time. We'll get to that.
We'll do it next. The Ben Maller Show is seventy
nine percent more enjoyable when you join us on Twitter.
It's the back doorway to be heard on the radio.
You can message the Mallard posse by following Ben on Twitter.
He's at Ben Maller and you can follow and tweet
(57:30):
at our executive producer. He is the liar, liar and
the menace of the Fox Sports Radio network. It's the
fair and balanced Coop de Loop Justin Cooper, and he's
at you. H Bronco fan Farris, the drafting of Robert
ni Nikim and allied from the Geico Fox Sports Radio Studios.
It's the crooked Ben Maller. You are so upset right now.
(57:53):
There's no reason to be upset. I know you're annoyed
that I'm winning the games now and your little scam
has ended. But I'm very proud of the fact that
we figured out a problem, much like President Trump is
figuring out who the people are leaking these stories to
the Washington Post and CNN and things like that, and
so he's trying to fix the problem. I had to
(58:13):
take special measures here at Fox Sports Radio to end
the rampant cheating that was going on on these games.
We'll have Mallard of the third degree coming up in
a couple of minutes as the big story the NBA Draft.
It's NBA Draft Day. Whoo. Yeah. The ratings sucked for
(58:34):
the NBA Draft last year. They're gonna be any better
this year. The ratings were not good last year, the
lowest ratings they'd had in a handful of years last season.
They expect the ratings to be up for the draft
this year. I gotta tell you the draft, there's a
lot of downtime in the draft. There's a lot of
(58:55):
unnecessary time. Couldn't they do the draft in about thirty minutes?
They don't do They need the I know they're trying
to build up drama. I understand that. But I can
go on Twitter, I can listen to the radio Fox
Sports Radio is gonna have draft coverage throughout the first
round of the draft. I can listen to that, I
can go on social media and get all of the picks,
(59:16):
and there's don't need to have a nervous breakdown about
the draft. I'm gonna get everything. I'll get it usually
before on the radio and on social media, before television.
So they got to figure out a way to present
the draft differently. I know they do the draft the
same way year after year after year. It's a marketing
gimmick for the NBA and the NFL and baseball is
(59:36):
trying to get in on that. And it's just you're
selling expectations, right, potential, all those buzzwords I hate, and
the anticipation of who's going to be drafted. But if
you don't have time for that, you can get everything
in advance. If you're impatient, you can get all of
that information before the television broadcast. All right, So Ben
(59:57):
Maller's show on Fox and we say hello too fast
food Phil an overnight sensation. Last we spoke, who's on
Fox Sports Radio? Hello? Phil? Oh my god, how are
you doing? Hey? Phil? Are you eating a cheeseburger or chicken? Sandwich.
Actually I went I went international tonight. Yeah, I got
(01:00:20):
something called a tereso burrito. God there rais so. But
I was over at that McDonald's over here in Orlando, Yeah,
and I asked him what the tereso or burrito has,
and he goes, chicken and stuff. Well, I was saying
(01:00:46):
wrong because I go, where do you get the stuff?
Where do you get this? You got this in? Where'd
you get this burrito? From? Donald Really? They saw burritos
and McDonald's. Now, oh yeah, is that like a breakfast?
You know? It was that like a like a It
wasn't bad, But I don't know what the stuff is.
I'll tell you later when it comes out. Yeah, when
(01:01:07):
you find out, let me know what's in the tacos
at Jack in the Box because I loved it the
next do you think I should? Yeah, I was online
and I was hoping as I was waiting. Yeah you know, uh,
that I could get the timing right like I did
last week, to actually have the overnight person talk to me. Yeah,
(01:01:30):
that would be great. We gotta work out the logistics
on this. That was one of the great moments, but
it was organic film that just kind of worked out
that way. It happened that way. We can't happen. You can't.
You can't scrip this kind of kind of radio fast
food film. So Phil, what's your what's your rotation? I
want to know you're you're You're like me in many respects.
I got married, so I don't ease much fast food.
(01:01:51):
Now I don't eat much of it at all. But
if I was not married, I would have like a
seven fast food rotation. Every day of the week would
be like Monday would be when these I would go,
you know, McDonald's on Tuesday, I change it up, maybe
Jack in the Box. On Thursday, I'd get a little
exotic and uh and go to like Chipotle for a
night I'd have I'd have different things every night, and
(01:02:12):
Panda Express would be in there. The orange Chicken. I've
gone there. You've never tried Panda Express. Oh no, you
gotta go man, that orange chicken. I don't know what
they put on that stuff, but it's amazing. You are addicted. Yeah,
it's great. That. And I the Beijing beef. I recommend
that also, that Beijing I don't know it tastes good.
(01:02:33):
Who knows it's cheap? It's probably not real. But it's wonderful.
It tastes great. It's not cat, right, I don't maybe
it is. Maybe they're serving dog. I have no idea,
but it's delicious and I love it so if it's dogs.
But besides the thing, I don't know what was in it.
I had two saucers burritos. You're going for it, Phil,
I love you. You're living the life I wish I
(01:02:54):
could live right now, Phil, Well, you know where I
am now. I'm in my garage working out because I
was having a little pal to take all. Well, completely
understandable that you know, you mean cheeseburgers at three in
the morning and the burritos at three in the morning. Uh,
you know, it's understandable that you might have some side
effects that might be in play there. Yeah, yeah, but
(01:03:14):
I'm addicted. Yeah, well, of course this as long as
you work out, you know, just you should be on
the treadmill double fisting cupcakes is what you should be doing.
Each hand should have a cupcake. And while you're doing
the you're walking at like two miles an hour, which
is barely walking, and you can be eating the cupcakes.
Yeah right right, I'd be bored for well, I'd have
some gas on ye, but I didn't want to ask
(01:03:36):
you a sports question. Oh hold on a set, because
you know Eddie's gonna get very upset. Here's already upset
with me. We don't want Eddie being tricks, So don't
don't hang up. We'll get the go ahead. Keep going,
so so feisty. We will get to Mallard to the
third degree. We will get to that in sixty seconds,
and also more with our friend Fast Food Phil Boy,
(01:03:58):
I'm sure that's a great question. That's a that's a
real hanger, right, You're like, oh man, I'm hanging on that.
We'll get to it all sixty seconds, no long commercial break.
But first let's find out what's trending the Ben Maller
shows coming to you live from the Geico Fox Sports
Radio studios. Fifteen minutes could save you fifteen percent or
more on car insurance. Visit Geico dot com and get
(01:04:19):
a free raid quote. And now back to Ben Maller,
and now we will reach the peak the climax of
our conversation with Fast Food Fill. Somewhere in a hidden
location in the Greater Orlando area, Fast Food Fill, there
(01:04:41):
was a question. It was like icing on a cake.
It was just was right there and you were gonna
say it, and I stopped. Yeah, delicious moist cake. Yes, Hey,
I wanted to ask you because I've only noticed with
Phil Jackson. Yeah, Phil Jackson was always given teams with
the Knicks. He had to build a team. Doesn't look
(01:05:04):
like it's going well. I've been a Knicks fan since
I've been a kid. I know it's been bad. That's
only that's only a couple of years. That's not that
you know. But when you're giving away one of your
star players or even putting it out there, that makes
no sense to me. This is a kid from the future.
(01:05:24):
This is not a kid, you know, a guy like
Carmelo Anthony. That's just yeah. But but Phil ball slows
it down asleep. But here's the thing, Phil, Phil Jackson
would like to get rid of Carmelo also, he said,
also in addition to what he said about Porzingis, Phil
Jackson said of Carmelo Anthony, it might be time for
him to find an opportunity to go somewhere else. He
(01:05:45):
said it again. He said it like three times. Phil
Jackson has said it. Here's my thing on Porzingi's Phil
Jackson in this respect is old school. He might be
a zen master and into yoga and all this nonsense,
this hippie stuff, but when it comes to responsibility and accountability,
porzingis spit alogie in Phil Jackson's face. He disrespected Jackson,
(01:06:06):
and Jackson's like, who's this guy? Porzingis? Has played on
two crap Knicks teams. He's put up numbers. Anybody can
put up numbers on a bad team. And who is
this guy? He thinks he's all New York City and
all that. He wants to getting rid of him. So
I can understand where Phil Jackson's coming from. And always
you know your fellow Nick fans, Phil, they didn't even
want Porzingis when he was drafted. People are like, we
(01:06:28):
should fire Phil Jackson. And now now if they trade Phil,
Porzingis like, we gotta fire Phil Jackson. It's ridiculous. I
don't say fire Phil, but I just think that he's
maybe getting a little Phil's Timers, Oh, I like that, yeah, good,
all right, I gotta go Phil. I got the people
lling him take it. There he goes the great to
(01:06:49):
fast food Phil. Phil Timers, is that why he used
the unicorn line? Is that one of the reasons that
was the Hollywood side of Phil Jackson. Hey for the
best NBA Raft show to night Thursday. That's that's what
Petros would say. I catch you don't even know who
that is. I catch Doug Gottlie, Chris Brussard and Meadow
(01:07:12):
World Piece right here on Fox Sports Radio and iHeart Radio,
beginning at seven pm Eastern and taking you all the
way through the entire first round of the draft, and
I'll have pick my Pick, predictions, analysis, and all thirty
picks in the first round will be covered. And if
you're into the second round, what's wrong with you? The
only one we care about's the first round. That's the
(01:07:34):
one that matters anyway. That's tonight with Doug Gottlie, Chris
Brussard and Meadow World Piece. It all starts at seven
pm Eastern right here on Fox Sports Radio. It's Meller.
How about that to the third Degree gets Grilled And
(01:07:55):
it is third Degree time we bring in the Coupe Dalup.
And despite all of the deflat Gate drama over the
past couple of years, in a recent interview with NFL
dot Com, Roger Goodell stated that his relationship with Patriots owner.
Robert Kraft was never strained. Strained do you believe him?
(01:08:15):
I like how you repeated that word there, I miss,
I'm misspronounced. It sounded fine to me. Now listen, this
is Roger Goodell's fairytale. It is a fairytale from the
Commissioner's office. Hey, Bob Kraft is in his mid to
late seventies now I think he's seventy six. He's in
(01:08:36):
the final chapter of his career as the Patriots owner.
He's going out in a blaze of glory here with
all these championships. He's living the life. This is a
proud man who is worried about his legacy in the NFL,
and the reputation has been altered because of the actions
of Roger Goodell and several witch hunts against the New
(01:08:58):
England Patriots. So if Bob Kraft is not upset, then
there's something wrong with Bob Kraft and b In Roger
Goodell's mind, he feels like Robert Kraft and him are
good right, because Bob Kraft still talks with him at
these social engagements where all the fat cat rich people
in the NFL get together. They all sit around and
(01:09:19):
Bob Kraft doesn't act differently. But that's business. That's Bob
Kraft who needs to have a working relationship with the commissioner.
He still wants to be on all these blue ribbon
panels and all that, so it's important to him. Well,
let's put it this way. If Robert Kraft and Roger
Goodell have exactly the same relationship they did before, then
(01:09:42):
Bobcraft is a total fraud. Roger Goodell is exaggerating, he's
exaggerating the situation, and it's being dishonest. It's dishonest rhetoric. Next, Ben,
we've we've pretty much clarified that the New York Jets
are tanking this season. It seems to be what their
(01:10:03):
goal is. Now, do you think that the NFL can
eliminate tanking by making a draft lottery with equal chances
to all teams that miss the playoffs, kind of like
the NBA draft lottery was when it was originally implemented. Yeah. See,
I'm at my tipping point. You know this, You're trying
to trigger me. I'm at my tipping point with tanking
in sports, and I blame Sam effing Hinkey and the
(01:10:26):
Philadelphia seventy six ers and trust the process shove it
where the sun don't shine. So I have an idea.
It's an unorthodox idea, it's an outside the box idea,
but I want to go for it. I'm gonna debut
it right now in this mallard of the third degree.
I want to flip the script and I want to
see what happens if you give the top teams the
(01:10:47):
better selections. Right, and I'll tell you why. Number one,
we can stop rewarding franchises that trust the process and
rebuild enough use suck. You shouldn't be rewarded for putting
a garbage team out there. And you know what, if
you do that for a couple of years, you're actually
(01:11:08):
going to inspire these teams to figure out a different
path out of the darkness. So much has been made
about these draft picks, and everyone puts their faith in
these draft picks. It would be pretty cool if Adam
Silver or Roger Goodell had the balls to be a
nonconformist and say enough is enough as punishment because so
(01:11:30):
many of our teams are intentionally trying to lose. You
know what we're gonna do. We're gonna say you don't
even get the top pick. You get the the bottom picks.
How about that, See what happens. It'd be very interesting
in a little science experiment to see how it turns out.
It would send shock waves around that particular sport. Teams
(01:11:51):
sell winning and if you aren't winning, they sell the hope,
the false hope of draft picks, and how that's going
to inspire you to win. And I've had an off
of it. And number two, I am against the lottery.
I am against lottery. It's just another marketing tool for
the NFL. And we know over the years the NBA
has been accused several times of manipulating the outcome of
(01:12:14):
lottery balls. With the reputation that Roger Goodell has in
the mud, you're telling me that if there was an
NFL lottery, it wouldn't be similar to the NBA, and
there'd be accusations of shenanigans going on, and they'd be
bending corners to help out certain teams that are in
the good graces of the NFL. Come on next. Been
(01:12:36):
On Wednesday, Jerry Jones met with Pope Francis at the
Vatican in Italy. They got me to wondering, who would
you rather meet if you had the opportunity bend the Pope,
the Dali Lama or the Queen of England. That's the
list I can't do. I can't go outside that all right,
all right? I will go with first of all, royalty.
(01:12:57):
When you have a chance to hang with royalty, you
hang with royalty. You don't turn down royalty. So I
would play poker, I'd play black jack. I'd go to
the casino with the Queen of England. We'd have a
great time. We go out gambling, we'd go back, we'd
hang out of Buckingham Palace, watch some ball games on
the satellite, and it would be wonderful. Well they got
(01:13:17):
that Windsor Castle, right, that's another place the rod be fun,
be great in the history of Britain and their battles
with the US. I could go back and walk through
the halls of Buckingham House, and then after that I
would take the Dali Lama. I'm very spiritual when it
comes to sports conversation here, so I would like to
be enlightened with my chance to hang out with the
(01:13:40):
Dalai Lama. And several times a week, coople oopen these
mallar monologues that we do every hour at the top
of the hour. I act like a Tibetan monk, and
I actually set myself on fire during the Mallard monologue.
So it would be cool to hang out with the
Dalai Lama and have a good time. And after that,
I guess I would put the Pope lower down on
the list. There it is Mallard of the third Degree.
(01:14:02):
How did we do Ben? You fail this edition. That's
a win for me. Although it would be fun to
hang out in the popemobile. You get nothing, you lose.
Good day, sir. All right, it's a win for me.
Thank you very much. Goodwin. I'll add that to my toe.
Another eddie, you want to do a little, a little
monologue on a high coup about how fair coup is.
(01:14:23):
You want to go ahead and do that again. Well,
he is the judge, mister ethical judge over there, another
corrupt judge. As President Trump would say, Now, your performance
on yesterday's Mallard the third Degree was so bad that
you fail today. You are by proxy, You're you're so
hurt by the fact that you cannot rules. And I
(01:14:48):
have put the kabash on the cheating. I am such
a radio loser. That's a press on time Now for
the Insta Tributa. There are only four four players in
NBA history that have averaged at least twenty one points
nine rebounds and four assists per game during their careers.
Wilt Chamberlain, Elgin Baylor, and Larry Bird are three of
(01:15:11):
those players. Name the fourth. That's the instat trivia. The
answer next. The Ben Maller Show has been called the
most unique show on sports radio, but we need your
help with our guerrilla marketing campaign. Use your social media
pages to show your support for The Ben Maller Show.
Now live from the Geico Fox Sports Radio Studios, It's
(01:15:32):
Ben maller. Ke says that fast food fill reminds him
that the Ben Maller Show is the Big Mac of
late night smorts. Smack okay, thank you much, appreciate that.
Our time. Now for the instat trivia and to here
we go. Only four players in the history of the
(01:15:54):
NBA have averaged at least twenty one points nine rebounds
and four assists per game over their careers. Wilt Chamberlain,
Elgin Baylor, and Larry Bird are three of them. Who
is the fourth? That's the question? What's the answer? All Right,
Andrew is going with Kevin Durant West Unselled guests by
(01:16:16):
Rod the Ambassador to Baker's Field. We will be playing
some music here at some point from I believe Rod's
in on that. Yes, all right? And who else do
we have? We have a tequila man going with Elvin Hayes,
the big e Eddie. What say you? We'll go with
Hersey Hawkins. Oh, great, former clipper. No, it's another former Clipper. Well,
(01:16:36):
he's currently a Clipper for now. Blake Griffin, Blake Griffin,
free agent Blake Griffin, behind Chamberlain, Baylor and Bird on
that list. Let's go all in here. It's Ben Mahler
and he's going, Oh, I'm gonna go all in all right,
(01:16:58):
Cooper Loop, how do we do last night? Danny Gee
was the only lead. You're freaking losing. Damn you Nalasco
out there? You all right, let's go to it. The
Cubs have a losing record against right handed pitching, a
winning record against left handers. Left hander on the mountain
for the Marlins, I'm all in with Jake Arieta and
the Cubs. Eddie. Back to the Korean Baseball League, the
Lote Giants are taken on the kt Wiz. Give me
(01:17:21):
the Giants minus a running a half. Nobody beats the whizz.
What about you, Danny. You'll see Big Ben Arizona smack
Colorado around yesterday in Denver. Have a funny feeling. Rockies
will punch back today. All in on Colorado. Coop. You've
got five seconds. I'm gonna give you a value play here.
I'm gonna go with the Minnesota Twins over the Chicago
White Sox. How's that a value play because they're underdog.
(01:17:42):
It has happened again in Major League Baseball. If you
show too much excitement, too much joy, you are violating
the morality of baseball. Yacio Puigue has triggered met outrage
another gut this act by the New York Metropolitans at
Dodger Stadium. Welcome in the beginning of another hour. It's
(01:18:07):
the Ben Maller Show. We are in the air everywhere
the vast Fox Sports Radio network, emanating live from the
Geico Fox Sports Radio studios. Fifteen minutes could save you
fifteen percent or more on your car insurance. Just visit
Geico dot com get a free rate quote. We take
(01:18:27):
it to Dodger Stadium, Downtown LA. The Dodgers and Mets
the third of a four game series on a Wednesday night.
And in the fourth inning game, I was at fourth
inning the New York Mets pitching. Some guy named Tyler
Pill was pitching. I've never heard of. He's a rookie
for the Mets. Tyler Pill pitcher. Apparently, in the fourth inning,
(01:18:50):
Yasil Pueek comes up. Now, the Mets had intentionally walked
a batter ahead of Pueek to get to Yasio Pueek.
He then hits a moonshot into the pavilion at Dodger Stadium,
a home run that traveled the over four hundred feet.
(01:19:10):
Very impressive home run. And this upset Wilmer Flores. Isn't
he the guy that was crying like a child a
couple of years ago, little baby Wilmer Flores for the Mets. Well,
Wilmer Flores was all upset the Mets infielder as Puigue
was making his way around the base. Now, even before
(01:19:32):
Puigue made his way around the basis he's in Hollywood.
He posed, he struck a pose. There was some showboating
that went on, and when Puigue was making his around
the bases, Wilmer Flores started yelling at and we have
the conversation. Wilmer Flores was upset with Puigue that he
had stopped vintage just like Sammy Sosa. There've been other
(01:19:56):
players that do it, that stopped and admire their work.
They're great performance. And so Puig admired the home run,
and according to Wilmer Flores, this crying met. He said, quote,
I told him to run the basis, he said, I
told him to run the bases. And then Flores went
on to say, I don't think Puigue knows what respect
(01:20:17):
for the game is. He said, So what did Yacio
Puigue say back to Wilmer Flores when he said I
told him to run the basis? Puig responded by saying,
f you, I love it. I love it. And so
then the que took thirty two seconds to get from
(01:20:39):
home plate to home plate, you know, to do the
whole victory lap around the bases there after hitting a
home run into the left field pavilion. That was a
three run home run which blew the game open in
favor of the Dodgers. It was not only Wilmur Flores
that got upset. Travis Darnau the Mets catcher who's no
good either. He all so got upset with ya cel Pleeague.
(01:21:02):
But the two quotes here, right, Flora is saying that
Pueague doesn't respect the game. And Flora's also said, we're
playing horrible right now. We don't need this blank. That's
the quote from Flores. And so Que played stupid, and
I give him credit for this. When asked if he
(01:21:23):
did say f you, which you can clearly see. You know,
anyone who's ever used the F word knows that you
can read the lips of ya Cel Pueague, he obviously
said f you. It's pretty obviously he said it. But
poeas like, I don't remember what I said. I don't remember.
So the question is this, do the New York Mets
have a right to be upset with ya Cel Pueague,
(01:21:45):
ya Cel Puigue. The answer is hell no, hell no,
And I'll tell you why. Right number one, It is
not ya Ceo pueags problem that the Mets stink him
worked for the New York Mets. He works with the
Los Angeles Dodgers. All right, play better, let's start with that. Yeah,
(01:22:07):
I don't care. I know you're annoyed by this and
you're you're depressed because your seasons in the toilet and
the Mets are not nine games under five hundred. And
then they're gonna start trading away players. The Mets are
gonna start unloading players soon enough. But in reality, Yasiel
Peak had a every right to be upset with the
New York Mets. They drilled them in the game the
(01:22:28):
night before, they nailed them with the pitch, and then
in this particular game, is there anything more emasculating? First
of all, they have to bat eighth. Pweak was batting
eighth in the National League. When you bat eighth, the
pitcher is behind you. They never pitched to you in
that situation. And the ultimate trump card of disrespect the
(01:22:48):
Mets walking the hitter in front of Puieg to get
to Yasil Pueeg alright, So he was upset going up
there that you know, you don't think enough of me
to even, you know, pitch the guy ahead of me.
So what's up with that? And the second point here,
major League Baseball has They've got all these think tanks
that get together and they're trying to figure out, oh
(01:23:09):
my god, how can we solve baseball? Right, you're the
first thing I would do, I would outlaw the phrase
respect for the game. Stop that, all right, Yeah, y'all
see up peag, bring in the razzle, dazzle to die.
And I was thinking people loved it. The people that there,
the Dodger fan loved the excitement that brought was great.
(01:23:34):
And that's a problem because baseball, that's disrespecting the game.
Screw you. You should encourage more of that. And it's
the attitude of people like Wilmer Flores, the Mets. That
attitude is all over baseball. This is a cancer. And
baseball doesn't even realize it. They don't realize it. And
(01:23:55):
you look at the NFL, the NFL, they have changed,
and the reason they have changed, it's because they realize
people like the celebration the NFL against their better judgment.
The old stick in the MUDs that run the National
Football the graybeards, the old guys who are they're they're
gonna be suffering on Sunday. When guys score touchdowns and
(01:24:17):
they start shaking their ass in the end zone, it's
gonna trigger these old guys that run NFL franchise. They'll
be in panic when they start happenings. It happens. But
they're doing it because they know it is something that
the people like, the masses like and stop all right,
and other than the nets are and nod and they're
irritating all that, But that's not Yasiel Puig's problem. Get
(01:24:40):
the guy out and then he won't be showboating and
taking thirty seconds to run around the bases after he
hits home run. And I love the fact that there
were the TV cameras caught Joannassesspitis and Jose Reyes to
senior members of the Mets who ran over to council
(01:25:00):
Yasio pueen between us, like they all got together. Listen,
we gotta have we gotta have a get together. We
have a meeting on the field. And it's ridiculous, right,
And Cesspitis was asked about this and he said it
was a quote, personal conversation with his brother from a
(01:25:22):
different country or for the same country, back in the
back in the day. So it doesn't Cesspitis celebrate when
he hit someone runs to Yasio Puig is public enemy
number one. He has been tattooed with this reputation and
everything he does is under the microscope. That's fine, Listen,
that's part of being Yasi upwee. But in this particular case,
(01:25:45):
it is absurd. Wilmer crying flores of the Mets and
Travis Darnault embarrassing. So the Ben Maller Show on Fox,
if you would like to opine on that and will
Terry Collins be fired? I saw Terry Collins was let's
(01:26:07):
just say, he was really buddy buddy with some of
the executives from the Dodgers. Do you think Terry's trying
to line up a job when the Mets fire him?
You think he's like, hey, maybe I can get one
of those front office jobs with the Dodgers and the
Mets get rid of me. You think he's going down
that avenue. Ben mallishawan ftion, I wanted to address the
Freddie Freeman story. Freddie Freeman is out still. He's got
(01:26:29):
a broken wrist. He's getting close to coming back, and
it appears he will not beginning his job back with
the Braves. He will not play first base anymore in Atlanta.
And Freeman, though, is not trading him. He is shifting
across the infield and he is going to play third base.
(01:26:50):
He said he's one hundred percent in on this, and
in his mind he is going to return to Atlanta
after a couple of weeks of practice as a third
baseman and long time first basement for the Braves, and
he's gonna shift across the diamond. And the baseball chatter
picked up on this, and I wanted to talk about it.
I had a couple of thoughts on this. He has
played his entire career Freeman at first base, and so
(01:27:13):
is this something or nothing? Now it is something. But
the two thoughts I have about Freddie Freeman are it's
unselfish and it's also necessary that he moves across the diamond.
Will begin with the fact that it's unselfish, because Freddie
Freeman could have protest and been at Douche and said no.
(01:27:33):
I'm the most beloved member of the Atlanta Braves. Everyone
below the Mason Dixon line loves me. I'm in the
prime of my career. I'm twenty seven years old. I'm
the one with one hundred and thirty five million dollar contract.
Why would I change positions. He's been into a couple
of All Star Games. The Braves haven't been good in years,
but Freddie Freeman has been good. He's played at a
(01:27:53):
high level. He was playing very well before he broke
his wrist this year. And in the olden days, this
would be the norm, right, this would be the Norman.
You would just if your manager, your front office wanted
you to shift positions, then you shift positions whatever is
in the best interest to the team. In these modern times,
the fact that Freddie Freeman is willing to change positions
(01:28:15):
makes a headline. This is like so outrageous that he's
willing to do this. It's like, wow, this is big
news in baseball. And we know the story of Derek
Jeter and how selfish he was, and a Rod a
much better shortstop. You think Jenior was gonna leave shortstop now,
he said, screw you, I'm Derek Jeter, I get all
the models. Everyone loves me. You go play third base,
(01:28:37):
a Rod. So that's what a Rod did. It hurt
the Yankees because Jeter was a terrible defensive player, and
it hurt the Yankees. But Junior would not shift positions,
so Freddie Freeman started taking groundball. He's gonna play third
base when he comes back. Now. In addition, this was
a necessary move for Freddie Freeman because it helps the
Braves out. Matt Adams has been smashing and mashing and
(01:29:01):
raking the baseball all over the place, and he did
nothing his last year with the cheating Cardinals. But he
has reinvented himself in Georgia, whether it's the ballpark or
the laundry or whatever it is. Maybe he's using cork
in his bat or steroids. I don't know. But the
guy's playing really well. It's lost some weight and he's
(01:29:22):
doing a great job. But as long as Fat Adams
is playing like an All Star, you leave him in
the lineup. There's no DH in the National League. And
so the question is what happens when Adams, though, eventually regresses,
when he reverts to the old Matt Adams and he
can't hit anymore. So is this a temporary situation? If
(01:29:43):
Matt Adams goes a month like in July and he's
batting one eighty, does Freddie Freeman quietly move back to
first base for the Braves and Matt Adams takes a
seat and gets hemorrhoids on the bench for Atlanta? Does
that app And Freeman hasn't played third base pretty much
since high school, So I would say it's it should
(01:30:05):
be okay, and he could throw the ball. Freeman's got
a decent arm, would believe, and you just gotta be quick,
and it's all about positioning. Wouldn't it be easier to
play third base than first base? First base, you're involved
in everything, everything that goes on, every play in the infield,
even the outfield. You're involved in everything. Third base, Yeah,
it's the hot corner, but you're not involved in everything.
(01:30:25):
You're not so one other observation, much like earlier week,
if you're listening to the entire night, Eddie Garcia wanted
to give a Nobel Peace Prize to the Cooper Loop
because he did something that was something he should have done.
We should not give the Nobel Peace Prize to Freddie
Freeman because he was being considerate to the Braves wishes
and decided to move to third base. And Atlanta is
(01:30:47):
not going to make the playoffs. They're a bad team.
They're terrible. But it's nice that he did it. But
let's let's stop with the poetic things that are being
said about Freddie Freeman, how kind he was to shift positions.
All right, it's been out show on Fox. You can
give us a call. You know the number, you can
be part of this and also on Twitter at Ben
Maller and I felt much better, Eddie, after annihilating Wilmur
(01:31:10):
Flores and the New York Metropolitans. I was more irritated
with the Mets than the Mets were annoyed with my guy,
Yacel Pueague, who's starting to hit all of a sudden.
I don't know what he's doing, but he has snapped
out of the funk. And Pueegus had a good week
ten days here said some home runs. He's doing pretty good. Yeah,
(01:31:32):
clearly the Dodgers are just feeding all their players steroids.
It's only the only explanation for all the home runs
that they're I'm perfectly fine with that if that's what's
going on. Whatever, I'm sure you are. I don't understand why.
I've never understood why players. You know, I know, it's
baseball in the unwritten rules and all respect to the game, Eddie,
he said Wilmer Flores, he doesn't respect the game. Yeah,
(01:31:52):
that's that's that's lame. It's dumb. It's as dumb as
when he was crying like a child. Fernando Rodney can
pose and point and do all these things and that,
And I'm just saying, why is that that is, you know, disrespectful? Right? Yes?
Why does no one call him out on that? Some
Mets fan was all I was tweeting about this, and
some Met fan got all upsets. Listen, he's you would
(01:32:14):
you have a problem with the pitcher? Didn't? I don't care.
If the Mets had come back and struck out pweak
and did a congo line to the dugout, the entire
team makes a trip around the bases and a congo line,
I would have been fine with it. It would have
been great. It would make for a great meme. It
would have been hilarious. If the entire team had done
a conga line off the field wearing Mets, you would
have been hilarious, Eddie. I would have laughed my ass off.
(01:32:35):
That might be a bit much. It's all about the
moment to go viral on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, Eddie.
That's all they care about. Occasionally Snapchat and those moment
when Peaks strikes a pose like a great gladiator that
has just conquered a beast, like the picture on the mound.
That's a wonderful thing, Eddie. You should celebrate that yeah,
I have no problem with that at all. I mean, look,
(01:32:56):
I've always said if the pitcher doesn't want the matter
to do that, don't throw him a meatball. But I
it's fine, celebrate. It's okay. I know it's a long season.
I've heard all the stories over the years. I get it.
But it's have a good time. Fine, have a good time.
And we had every right to be upset because the
Mets the intentional walk thing. He's like, you don't even
(01:33:17):
throw four pitches, like you're so embarrassed, go down to
first base. We want to we want to pitch to
the other guy because he sucks. That's what they're saying
with the intentional walk. All right, Ben Mallards Show on Fox,
give us a buzz. You know the number. If you
don't know the number, don't call. We don't want to
talk to you. We got plenty of things to talk about.
We don't need to talk to you. But if you
want to call, you're more than welcome. There's one line
open so you can fill that up. And later this
(01:33:38):
hour we have asked Ben your questions are answers. We'll
get to that a little bit later. We'll call this
one weapondry, weapondry. We'll get to that. We'll do it next.
The Ben Mallard Show is seventy nine percent more enjoyable
when you join us on Twitter. It's the back doorway
to be heard on the radio. You can message the
(01:33:58):
Mallard posse by following Ben on Twitter. He's at Ben
Maller and you can follow and tweet at our technical producer.
He plays all the music and most of the funny
sound bites of the Ben Maller Show. His first name
is Danny. His last name is still a mystery to most,
but you can follow him at Danny ge Radio, the
microphone Throttler, and ally from the Geico Fox Sports Radio studios.
(01:34:20):
It's Ben Maller. We'll have asked Ben coming up in
a few minutes. Your questions and our answers, so get
those going right now. You can ask away on Twitter
and our Facebook page. The Cuba Man says, I would
like to see the congoline on periscope. We will not
be doing a a congoline here, but we do have
(01:34:42):
wonderful new decorated studio. Everyone's fascinated by the new studio.
Everyone's stopping looking inside. What's going on? In there. It's
pretty cool. Bill says, not smart, Bye puigy, he'll get
himself or a teammate plunked. And then Bill says, remember
on say, we have one objective. It's not to show off.
(01:35:04):
Shut up and play. Bill. I know you probably love
Ron Say, and you have a penguin doll that you worship.
I get that. Times have changed. Okay, times have changed different.
Now you got you gotta roll with the punches. Can't
be stuck in the past. You don't take a horse
to work. You take a car to work. Right if
you drive your work, you take a car, you take
(01:35:24):
a bus, you take a train. You don't walk there.
You have a phone. If you have a smartphone, you
have more technology than the human kind used to get
to the damn moon. Things advance. People like the celebration.
It's not the death of baseball. In fact, it brings
more life back to baseball. Josh says, baseball is the
only sport where you celebrate a meat head hitting a
(01:35:47):
meat ball. So what do you say, Let's go to
cliff the Big red Dog, Clifford who's on Fox Sports Radio.
Hello Clifford, Oh, Ben, I was one. If it would
be better since, by the way, I think you passed
the malach for the third degree. That was well done. Well,
(01:36:09):
thank you. I appreciate that nothing was overreaction by Coop
who acted irrationally not to give me the win. And
since you'd rather, you know, I like the idea of
gambling with royalty, I think we should rename Chuck the Condor,
Sir Charles the Condor, since Jerry west Is are spicing
(01:36:30):
things up, well, do not mess with Chuck the Condor.
A close personal friend. Chuck is a beloved mascot and
the breakout mascot of the year in Sport last year.
And I gotta tell you, the Philly fanatics a little
concerned because the Philly Fanatics been number one for years.
I love the Philly fan but there's a there's a
condor who's overhead looking looking at the Fanatics, and that's
(01:36:53):
some good meat right there. I can't hear you. Your
phone sucks, Clifford. You. I know you're a big red dog,
but you've got to get right on that that receiver.
At least mascot's gonna be peasant at the draft, you think, yeah,
I think it would be more fun. And I don't
know how anyone else was about this. But if the
(01:37:14):
mascots actually revealed the picks, how great would that be?
Instead of Adam Silver, you get what's that that six
Ers mascot? They've got the one that looks it looks
like Ben Franklin their mascot. They have a new mascot,
the six Ers and the Celtics have that Leprekarn. The
Lakers have who do they have? They got rid of
(01:37:35):
Nick Young, so they I guess they don't have a
mascot anymore. You could have the Guerrilla go up there
for the Sons. The Kings have some funky mascot. I
think it'd be a great idea. Do the Bulls have
a pick? Benny the bull could get up there. It's great,
all right, thank you? All right, let's go back to
the NBA draft because a player who is projected to
(01:37:58):
be a top up ten pick, Malik Monk. Remember him
from Kentucky One and done freshman player. He's a guard.
The scouts love the his ability to score. He has
many weaknesses though, But he was asked about the whole
video game thing and whether or not I don't know
if the questions in this or not. I've not heard this.
(01:38:19):
I think the questions in other than the questions. I
think question not in it good. So he was asked
about how he would play NBA two K. Okay, they
are talking back, well, so you'll hear the questions a
video game related question. The answer of Malik Monk a
a little surprising to some. Let's let's enjoy. Now, what
do you think? Malik Monk said he was asked a
specific question about how he plays NBA two K, very
(01:38:43):
popular video game. He's asked about that. Do you think A,
He said, I don't have time for video games. B.
I play this all the time. I am a master
of NBA two K. Or C said something completely out
of left field. Let's find it. You're creating. You're player
on two K and you have to pick a dump package,
a lay package, and a dump shot. You don't you're
(01:39:05):
gonna play it when you're in the game. No, why not?
You play other games? Are? Yeah? Just strictly why why's that?
I liked? The man's an honest man. The right to
bear arms one of the tenants of America right right
(01:39:26):
after freedom of speech. The right to bear arms is
very important. And now do you think he likes real
guns or just like the virtual guns. Is this a
situation where he's got like a bazooka in his closet
or something like that. Are we are we gonna gonna
find out that he's he's collecting machine guns and cannons
and all of that. Now, I saw the Sacramento Kings
(01:39:49):
projected to draft him. Do you think he'll go hunting
with Vlody? It'll be great, Yeah, Vlodi. Vlodi is not
good to hunt with because he smokes while he's hunting,
and it's like the animals see the smoke go up.
So it's a problem. You know, if you do smoke,
you gotta stop smoking while you're hunting because then they
smell the smoke and they see it, and the animals,
you know, they're like they realize what's going on. So well,
(01:40:11):
good luck to Malik Monk, a shooting guard who loves guns.
That's that's pretty good. I was wonder if there was
an NBA or like not not an NBA game, like
a radio game, like if they made a game show
or a game video game that was like a sports
radio video game. Like you you get graded on your
(01:40:31):
model all and your teases and your brakes and all
the big elements in radio, and did you drop the
right sound bites in did you take the dopey calls
at the right time, Like there's a report card and
all that. You made a video game about a sports
radio show. Would I play it? Would I play it?
I would think one of the greatest things about being
(01:40:52):
an NBA player is the fact that you're going to
be a video game. You're going to be in a
video game. Now, Monk's not in the video game yet,
but you can make yourself into the video game now anyway.
Most of these games you can add yourself in anyway.
Who doesn't do that? I mean it doesn't everyone do that?
This isn't that the point of getting a game where
they have them, where you can create players, You create
yourself and you're the greatest player ever in the video game.
(01:41:16):
Everyone does that, right? I do that? Everyone does that?
You do that? Come? I don't lie to me. Do
you think there would be a cheat code in your honor?
I wouldn't need to cheat because I'd be the greatest.
Eddie would have a cheat code, you know that Cooper
loop over there, mister Nobel Peace Prize winner would have
a cheat code. We'll get to ask Ben more your
phone calls, the whole thing. We'll do that in sixty seconds.
(01:41:39):
We're a waiting more WOJE bombs. I know he can't sleep,
he's up all night. We'll get to the latest on that,
and we'll do it all in sixty seconds. No long
commercial break. But first let's find out what's trending. The
Ben Maller Show's coming to you live from the Geico
Fox Sports Radio studios. Fifteen minutes could save you fifteen
percent or more on car insurance. Visit Geico dot com
(01:42:00):
and get a free rate quote. And now here's Ben Maller.
Right back to the phones we go, and we say
hello to Jason, who's on the Ben Maller Show on Fox. Hello, Jason,
hey man, how are you doing. I hope you and
the crew are doing well. If I was any better,
I would be a nick But not. Chris stops porzingis
(01:42:21):
because he's in the doghouse right near Carmelo Anthony. I
hear you, man, I hear you. So. Ben, you know
what today is? Right? Today is the day on the
calor's notice, Thursday. That's right, It's the return of the
Great White North. Game. Yes, the day in Football League
is back looking to defend their Great Cup championship as
(01:42:47):
they host the Great Cup this year on Sunday, you know,
number twenty six at TV Place, you know. So, I
was wondering if you want any and alliance for all
in this week at all? Oh? You want us to
do like an all in? You know we do? Is
we should do the CFL pick him. That's what we
ought to do. That would be a throwing darts if
we do the CFL pick him. I know, I know,
(01:43:09):
I know, I know. Nothing pops ring like we gotta
break down Mike Riley at Edmonton that you know, he's
one of the great passers. Is he back with Edmonton
this year? Is who? I don't know. I already had
a good year last year. So yeah, all right, no
(01:43:35):
one else is joining the CFL conversation. At least I
gave you. I gave you Mike Riley. I mean I
give you that. Yeah, I do know what. I appreciate
that Trevor Harris is taken over. That's all I got.
I can't break down anything else in the Eskimos, I
can't do it. Sorry, that's too bad. I appreciate it,
but we'll see what happens this year. He's out for
(01:43:59):
he's done. He's You didn't hear that, Yeah, you already
got hurt. I didn't. They released him, They released him.
He's out. He's not gonna play. That's it. He's done
no more. He couldn't handle the Canadian Football League. I
guess not too much. Feel big for his fat ass,
So yeah, I think that would help him. But go
back to cheesecake factory now he can hang out there.
(01:44:20):
All right, Well, this has been compelling, entertaining, stimulating, and
fascinating conversation about the Canadian Football League. Jason and all right, well, yeah,
i'll tell you what. I'll call it back. Every week,
I'll give you a recap that okay, that will be torture.
Oh no, it's the Ben Mallards Show on Fox. And
you ask us questions, we give you answers the whole thing.
(01:44:43):
That's how we do it. And we'll do that right now.
It's now time for time for ask bad twitters your
questions on Twitter. Now, like a hissing cockroach in the night,
it is time for ad don't even what that means.
That's ask Ben your questions and our answers. You can
(01:45:04):
ask us any kind of questions. Now, have you asked
us those boring nineteen eighties sports radio style questions. They
are not going to get on the air, They are
not going to be read. They will be deleted right away.
We will try to expedite the process with the Krem
Dela Krem, the upper crust of questions, the rare, the inappropriate.
(01:45:25):
We will get to some of those as well, the
uncommon question typically gets asked on the radio. And now
the one that asked all of the questions in a
very condensed way, the Cooper Loop. Ben. We're gonna start
with a question for you, all right. This is from
Big Lou on Facebook. I've met Big Glue yes several times.
(01:45:46):
Good man. We can all tell your love he likes
hockey and so weird, you know. We can all tell
your love of game shows. Where did that start as
a child? And did you make your mom, dad, and
brothers participate in fake game shows that you hosted? Well,
that's a good question. No, I never tortured my parents
that way, but I remember as a child some of
(01:46:07):
my favorite memories were when I ditched school and I'd
stay home and I'd have to like kill time, you know,
and I had as a child, I faked illness and
in those days, back in the caveman days, when it
was not this advancement and entertainment and stuff, like, the
only thing on during the day I was either soap
operas or game shows. So I love like my favorite
(01:46:27):
game show as a kid was Let's Make a Deal.
I love that, I thought. And then and also the
Price is Right. I got to meet Bob Barker years ago,
and radio that was a lot of fun, but all
the wheel of fortune was solid family feud legends. And
so as a child, through the eyes of a child,
I fell in love with these game shows, and as
(01:46:50):
an adult I have become one of the great radio
game show hosts of modern time. All right, we're gonna start,
or we're gonna go with another question. Then, yes, this
is Troca's answer. It was a finance. That's fine. Yeah.
This is from Jacobson on Twitter. He said he's got
a great question for ask Bend. It's for you. Say
(01:47:11):
one nice thing about Eddie, Danny and Coupe. They all
showed up to work on time today and I'm very
happy about that. None of them got any tickets on
the way to work. They all apparently took showers, which
is good. That's a solid thing. They appear to have
brush their teeth, they combed their hair, although I don't
know what's under that hat that Danny wear, so I
have no idea what's going on there. Uh. And they're
(01:47:32):
they're great Americans. They pay their taxes. Uh. And yeah,
there you go. That's about multiple nice things. Man, your
face in your face. Uh. This is a group question.
This is from the Ben Maller fan. Okay, well that's
a good one right there. How many cars that guy?
How many car accidents have each of you been in? Oh? Boy,
(01:47:55):
I've had my share of fender benders. I don't even remember.
I probably i'd been in over the year. I've been
driving a long time. I drive a lot. I've gotten
in I want to say, like five accidents. In fact,
the first day that I did the overnight show for
the second time, after the management realized the mistake of
their ways and they put me on. The day after,
(01:48:16):
I was driving to the gym, and though I thought, well,
maybe I'll go to the gym in the afternoon, I
won't go in the morning after the show, and I
got rear ended on a freeway in LA and that's
happened a couple of times. So I got I'm gonna
go five Eddie. Yeah, I'm gonna go with three one
of them. Famously, on my way to work winning the
boat boat became unhitched from the vehicle that was towing it.
(01:48:39):
That must have been a great conversation with the insurance rep.
You hit a boat, Yeah, yeah, yeah, it was great.
And the guy just kept driving or maybe he was drunk.
I didn't know. I don't know. Ye. Also, I had
two accidents within the span of a month that totaled
both cars. Oh, yeah, the insurance was great. Have I
told the story. I was in line back in my
(01:49:01):
big eating days at McDonald's at about two thirty in
the morning, if I remember correctly, and they had the
two windows working, which is rare. Usually at night they
only have the one window working at the fast food restaurants.
So I'm in line at two thirty in the morning
getting my order of food, and I pull up from
the first from the first window to the second window,
which is where they give you the food. You pay
(01:49:21):
the first, they give you the food at the second
and the car in front of me. This teenager realizes
that he had forgotten a dish, a side of food
and backs into my car, not realizing there was a
car behind him. I was a helpless person. They must
have forgot his fries. I don't know what they forgot,
(01:49:41):
but that was not and it didn't even look at
it like my car was that damage? But then of
course you go to the chop shop and it's so
ten thousand dollars of hidden damage. It's ridiculous the way
they made cars these days. You know, you can't just
replace one part of the whole side of the car
as to be replaced. What about you, Danny. I'm thinking
back to one when I was a little kid in
(01:50:03):
in my mom's car, and two as an adult, the
last one in two thousand and six, where a drunk
driver hit me head on on one of the canyon yeah,
between wood Hills and Malibu, one of the canyon roads.
Lucky to be here, and that dude had to be
metevac helicoptered out of the canyon, and of course he
(01:50:24):
lived because he was you know, he was What time
was this you driving in the day? Fortunately, Yeah, I
had the top down with my girlfriend at the time,
and we were just taking a Sunday cruise to Malibu,
so I was actually under the speed limit. Can you
imagine if I had been going over the speed limit,
you would have gone down the canyon and that would
(01:50:44):
have been in right. Yeah, he came around a turn.
He was going like seventy five miles an hour around
a canyon bend. Wow, that's crazy, man. I didn't know
about that, all right, Coopolo? What about you? Well, Um,
if I'm adding, see, I know that since I started driving,
I've been in at least four word that I can remember,
and then if I'm adding, like you know, when I
was a kid, probably at least probably five or sentance
(01:51:05):
bad drivers. No, Um, I mean all the four that
I've been involved in since I started driving has not
been my fault. So I guess my car is just
a magnet for bad drivers. Yeah, I always say it's
not my fault. I got one time the traffic all
of a sudden stopped on the highway and I was
so pissed because I had stopped right just an inch
(01:51:29):
before the car in front of me and the car
behind me comes barreling into me, and because of the
chain reaction. I then hit the car in front of me,
and the insurance blamed me for eating the car in
front of me. And I told the rappers, I said,
listen this before I had got I said, listen, I
didn't hit the car. The car pushed me into the car.
And they was like, it didn't mutter in the eyes
of the law. You're you know you hit the car
(01:51:49):
because he didn't stop with enough distance between you and
I was amazing. I was like an amazing Nash car
driver that I avoided this actual So you were tailgating
is what I wasn't tailgating. It was a sudden stop
of traffic anyway, or pause for the cause it is.
Ask Ben your questions and our answers for the rest
(01:52:10):
of the hour. As Larry King would say, so keep
the questions coming in. We'll have more of Ask Ben.
We'll get to that. We'll do it next. There's a
world wind of excitement going on around our show reddit page.
Search for our subreddit Ben Maller showing it the latest
authentic listener generated content about the Maller Militia. Now live
from the Guico Fox Sports Radio Studios. It's Ben Maller,
(01:52:33):
Well Unfortunately, we do not do shout outs on Ask
Ben because we have strict rules here at Fox Sports
Radio and they just we just have to we can't
do it. But if you were a free spirit, though,
and like didn't follow rules, well I was free of
the restraints of the management and the man that I
work for here at Fox, then I would absolutely give
(01:52:54):
a shout out to a lift driver who is driving
between Sarah Soda and Tampa, because apparently someone that we
know might or might not have been in that lift
car from sarah Sota to Tampa and the driver possibly
was listening to the Ben Mallership. I will say no more,
(01:53:15):
but thank you for listening. We appreciate that. Let's get
back to it. Here we go, Let's do it. It
is time now for more of Asked Ben. Your questions
are answers and the MC of this. This is a
question for everybody on the crew. This is from Robbie
the Mariners fan on Twitter. Great Robbie, do you believe
in ghosts and if so, have you had a paranormal experience? Yeah?
(01:53:39):
I when I was a kid, I believe in ghost
Now as an adult, no, there are some odd things
that happened though there are some unexplainable things that happened.
But do I think they're ghosts? No, I don't think
they're ghosts, Eddie. Yeah, I don't really either. The only
thing that ever happened to me that raises some questions
was one time I was living in an apartment. I
(01:54:00):
was watching TV. It was late at night, and my
front door opened and closed like slam shot. And after
I like, I like froze for a few seconds, like
what the hell was that? And then I sprinted to
the door. I opened it up and it was down
a long hallway and there was no one there. Spooky, yeah, Danny,
see big Ben. My mom told me and my brothers
(01:54:23):
that they were that ghosts are just bad angels who
got kicked out of heaven. And I think she had
to come up with this story because we moved from
La to San Jose, California. In the first house my
mom rented there, I swear it was haunted. Cabinets would
open and slam in the middle of the night, our
bedroom window would go up and down. It was a
(01:54:45):
creepy house. And finally my mom moved out of that house.
So I think that after that she's like, yeah, there
probably are some ghosts. I heard a magician years ago
who did like seances, and he told me all he said,
all the tricks that they in the seance, right and
so talking to ghost And I don't know, Coop, what
(01:55:05):
about you. I never was a believer, but at one time,
shortly after high school, I was hanging out with some
friends in a in a park late at night, and
I thought I saw something, something ghost like in the distance.
But I wasn't gonna bring it up because that may
have been taking place, but I didn't. I didn't. I
didn't want to bring it up to anybody because I
(01:55:26):
was like, oh, I don't want to be that that guy.
And then all of a sudden, somebody else in the
group was like, do you guys see that? And then
it was a realization that there was something there. We
all booked it. We left the part. It's funny. I
don't really believe in ghost but I believe in like
I know they're like spaceships. I know they're aliens. I
believe in that. I'm going all George Norri on that,
but on the ghost thing. All right, what else we got,
(01:55:48):
Cooba Loo? If we can try and get through this
one for the whole gang from Dakota. Did you ever
think of running away as a child? Yes, me and
a buddy in the Northwood Elementary were going to run
away to Chicago. We would all play it out. We
were gonna I don't remember exactly our planning to make money,
but yeah, we were gonna run away to Chicago. Eddie, No,
I was spoiled, rotten. I was going anywhere, okay, Danny
(01:56:09):
g hell, Yeah, day dreamed about that often. Went to
my aunts one time with every intention to stay. She
kicked me out about after the third dinner she had
to cook for me. She's like, get out of You're
too expensive a coop. What about you as a child?
You live in the Hollywood Live you didn't want to
run away when you were a kid. Did you never
thought of running away? But I would sneak out late
at night to the donut store? Two? Am you still
do that today? Draft Day in the NBA? And could
(01:56:36):
it be the last time the NBA draft has a
same feel as it will today? Meaning no more one
in Dunn's coming out of college. Could they get away
with that and do away with it? Well? Coach k
has chimed in on this. We'll talk about that. Welcome
in the beginning of another hour. It's the Ben Maller Show.
(01:56:56):
We are in the air everywhere, the fast Fox Sports
Radio Network coming you live from the Geico Fox Sports
Radio studios. They have been uplifted and upgraded. And the
Geico Fox Sports Radio studios where fifteen minutes could save
you fifteen percent or more. Go to Geico dot com.
So later today, the NBA Draft, the class of twenty
(01:57:20):
seventeen will play out. The good, the bad, the ugly.
The seventy six ers are on the clock, the Lakers
and all the rest will follow. The Celtics of course,
as well as the draft will unful. We'll have covered
here on Fox Sports Radio. And many of these players
picked at the top will be franchise saviors. At least
they'll be marketed that way. Mike Shashevsky, if he gets
(01:57:44):
his way, the draft will it's gonna look a whole
lot different in coming years. The patriarch of Duke Basketball
here what he had to say. He thinks that high
school basketball prodigies, prodigies, these legends of high school basketball,
the AAU circuit should be allowed to circumvent the one
(01:58:04):
and done at a place like Duker Kentucky the farce
that that is, and go directly to the NBA. So
I want to talk about this now. I agree with
Coach K on this particular point. Coach K wants basketball
to modify the rules. He would like it to be
more like baseball or as he said, the theater and music.
(01:58:25):
And Coach K gave a long answer, and I'll give
you the thumbnail version, but he essentially said that if
you're really good at something, really really good at something,
there's a different path for you. If you're a great
musician or if you're very talented in the theater, you
go a different direction than everybody else. And Coach K
(01:58:45):
pointed out that in baseball, he gave this whole big
sermon about how it's it's not a bad idea what
they do in baseball where you either come out of
high school and if you don't come out of high school,
you have to go to college for a couple of years.
And Coach K, among the things that he said, he
said a two year period, meaning instead of one and done,
two and gone, and he says that would legitimize being
(01:59:07):
in college going for an education. Coach K declared. He says,
you don't see just using the college system as a
training ground. He said, all right, So there's a lot
to get to. The question is this, do you agree
with coach K on his take for changes in the
NBA draft? Now, yes, but Coach K is being self
(01:59:31):
serving with these comments, and i'll walk you through white.
First of all, Duke has adjusted very well to the
one and done setup. In fact, if you look at
the projected NBA draft, there are several one and done's
from Duke, including Jason Tatum, who's projected to be the
number four pick who will be selected in tonight's NBA draft.
(01:59:54):
There are a handful of Dukis, and so Duke has
adjusted to the way the rule rules are now in
college basketball. Nevertheless, it has been long established that Mike
Chazhevsky hates it, doesn't like and Duke was one of
the last last teams in on this, one of the
last power teams that fully embraced all this. However, you've
(02:00:19):
got to adjust with the times or you're going to
be left behind. So the Blue Devils, as we pointed
out here, they've done it. They've also been ravaged by
players that have gone to Durham North Carolina for a
year and then taken off and then you got to
bring the new class in. And it's not like Duke
has been horrible. They put good teams on the court
most years, and they go to North Carolina for a
(02:00:40):
couple of months and then they leave Duke the campus
and they go off to the NBA. By changing the rules,
the reason itself serving is it makes it easier on
coach K. If those players that do go to college
have to stay for two years, that is a net
positive for Duke. So net Remember, Coach K is someone
(02:01:02):
that does not like rules. He's the quote that I
saw Coach K says he when he's building a team up.
Coach K declared that when he's developing a team, he
doesn't like rules. He does not. He says he likes standards.
He claimed that rules promote TeamWorks. They don't promote teamwork rather,
(02:01:23):
but standards do. It's a bit of a semantical argument
rules versus standards. The outcome is typically the same. But anyway,
I get back to the point as we talk here
on Fox Sports Radio now, the second thing the NCAA
coaches they believe as all I must speak for all
of the coaches in general. They believe that they are
(02:01:46):
going to benefit from the one and done rule being abolished. Now,
a certain coach in Lexington, Kentucky likely doesn't feel that way.
But the majority, the vast majority, think that if you
get rid of the one and done, this is a
good situation. There are there are coaches, there are outliers
that do not agree with this, but they're the minority.
(02:02:09):
The majority are all about it. They want to protect
the setup they've got. The people certainly that run college
sports love the indentured servitude set up. You know, keep
the players down, don't give them anything, at least legally.
I know there's some backhanded deals that take place and
all that, and then you can keep cashing those gigantic
(02:02:30):
checks from Turner and CBS to televise the tournament and
go on and on. It's the kind of system that
if you are a fortune five hundred type executive, you'd
be like, how can we get that? That's great, we
get labor and we just have to pay them pennies
on the dollar. It's a billion dollar industry. It's a
(02:02:51):
wonderful setup, would be in a perfect world. The NBA
would actually spend the money that's required set up a
legitimate minor league system. Years ago, there were rumors that
the NBA wanted to put a version of the NBA.
David Stern, one of his fantasies, was going to put
(02:03:11):
an NBA Europe together, and it never happened. European basketball
they've got their own setup in Europe. But the idea
was that they would put like minor league teams, if
you will, a lower level of the NBA, kind of
like the way the D League or I guess they
call it the G League now is set up, and
you'd have teams all over different countries in Europe and
(02:03:31):
you'd send your young players there and they would play
the entire year. Now there would be no up and down.
You'd play the entire year in Europe, and you'd have
NBA logos and things like that. And it never happened. Instead,
they go with the G League and the D League,
which is a farce and for the most part, and
that continues. So the final word on this and the
(02:03:52):
NBA owners, they don't want the high school players coming out,
They don't want them to go to directly to the NBA.
They want to do the process. It was up to
the people that run the NBA that write the checks.
They would like to push this back and go back
to two or three years in college. Why because the
handful of players that are really good, the ones that
(02:04:13):
come directly from high school and go to the NBA
and dominate like Lebron James has done in the regular
season and to some degree in the postseason, and guys
before him, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Garnett, they're the highest paid
players players in the NBA all time and they didn't
(02:04:34):
go to college. They didn't go to college. Cashed and
they monetized. And the key is to get that third
contract when you're in the prime, and Lebron is going
to go on what his fourth contract. Kobe Bryant got
a ton, He got the gravy train from the Lakers.
Kevin Garnett got his share of the money. It is
(02:04:54):
a brank bake break the bank situation is what it
is when you get to that point. And as far
as these father Flannagan types that are like, we've got
to protect these young people. We cannot allow them to
come out of the high school ranks and go directly
to the NBA shot up. Are some of them overrated? Yes?
(02:05:17):
Will many of them fail? Absolutely? Every one of these
AAU players thinks that they are the God's gift to basketball.
They are hoop prodigies, child geniuses at basketball. And for
the first couple of years they will flood the market
and many of them won't make it. And you know what,
So what, go out and get a real job. Life
(02:05:38):
comes at you fast. And if you make the poor decision,
you make the poor decision. You know what. There's plenty
of these guys that go to college. It doesn't work
out for him anyways. The Ben Maller Show on Fox
as we yap the night away. Now, I have a
guy with a golden ticket here, but we have we
have other stuff to Should take the golden ticket, Eddie?
Or should I do the thing I was planning on doing? Well?
(02:06:02):
Can you give us a hint on what is the
thing you were planning on doing? Special? It involves a melody,
It involves harmony. I think the golden tickets gonna have
to wait. Okay, all right, so the golden ticket's gonna
have to wait. That's okay, Eddie Garcia is spoken. Do
not be upset with me, I asked Eddie. Eddie said
he would rather hear this than the Golden Ticket. So
I don't know all the details on this time. I've
(02:06:23):
gotten some cryptic messages from the Cooper Loop. He's kept
this on the down low. I've not heard this. I'm
told we have a song that is a collaboration, a
piece of music that was put together by several p
ones of the show, at least two of them that conspired.
Anything else, collaboration, it's a collaboration. So anything else we
(02:06:43):
should know about this, Cooper Loop? Yes, I am told
that the lyrics were written by Rod in Bakersfield, okay, Ambassador,
rather our vocal backings by another p one listener of
the show. Okay, so there's another one involved. So is
this more Mozart? Beethoven? What are we looking at? He
kind of melody are we looking at? Ben? I didn't
(02:07:07):
want to spoil it for myself either. I only listened
to the first like five seconds of the song. Okay,
So we are going to debut We've we've debuted music before.
I'm told this was done professionally and I were in
a recording studio, in a recording studio, Okay, So let's
sit back and I want you guys, are you you
listening as well? Here? I want you to grade this
and here we go. Beneller is man, it's a big man.
(02:07:36):
He's got his mother lord. Ben maller Is man. It's
a big man, Big Ben everywhere for you. From the
Dodger cap on the top of the heel of his
(02:07:57):
Cosco shoes, give you the rip, roaring a sports stuck
in this man the world has ever new Ben Maller
Man man, and he never forgets to bring along Danny
(02:08:20):
Gan Radium Tube. These guys are better than the best
bang crew you would have ever knew. Ben Mallers Man,
it's a man, Big Ben in the air everywhere for you.
And yeah, that is great. I'm not gonna watch that
(02:08:46):
was happened? That was awesome? That was great cool. We
gotta put that on YouTube? We post that on YouTube?
Is that was high production value? That was I don't know?
Are we allowed to put that on YouTube? That wasnally good?
Why not? Yeah? That was not I like that. That
was solid. I need a copy of that coop too,
because I gotta We're gonna have to film something like
a montage to go a music video music video. We'll
(02:09:08):
do the boogie woogie. Been like, oh god, geez, that
was so good. It deserves a music video. Not gonna
help my body image problems, but I yeah, that was great.
We gotta put that on the charts. I know someone
that knows Ryan Seacrest. Can we get that Seacrest to
(02:09:29):
play that on his Top forty Countdown show that he
does for Top twenty Countdown. No, about as much chance
as you have of grabbing a sandwich with Steve Harvey.
No to me and Steve Harvey are gonna be bf
when when Steve Harvey starts working a cross He's a
sports guy. He's a down to earth guy. People, we
are going to hang out together and have a great time.
(02:09:51):
I might even become the sports gonna write memos together.
I could become the sports guy in the Steve Harvey
Morny Show. Yes, it could happen. And then maybe when
Steve Harvey takes vacation, a sabbatical little hiatus there on
the Feud, I might end up filling in. It could
happen as well. Oh yeah, I could see you hosting
the Family Feud at least at least day if I
(02:10:13):
don't host the family feud. At least allow us to
be on the family feud like I want to have
the Why don't we fight as Fox Sports for the
overnight show. We can fight the other crappy overnight shows
that are out there, and we can see who's who's best.
I can see now Cooper to be up there making
a guess and better be yelling at it. That's a
terrible no. No, no. I know how feud works. If
(02:10:38):
you want to get on family feud, no matter how stupid,
the answer is you have good job. Good job, good answer,
good answer, good answer. I've seen so many episodes of
family Feud. It's all scripted. I know everything. It's all choreographed,
just like the Property Brothers and all those shows on
the Home and Garden Channel. It's the same thing. I
would dominate family Feud. I am so good at that game.
I'm good too, I do very well with family feud.
(02:10:59):
All here's the deal. Listen, when Steve Harvey starts working here,
I'll break the ice. I'll buy I'll buy some donuts.
I'll buy a box of donuts. I'll bring him in
here as a peace offering to Steve Harvey and his crew.
When they start working across the hall, and by the
end of the show, I think me and Steve will
be bonding, will probably go out and have meals together
once a week. He'd be great, you know, I think
(02:11:21):
I think that's possible unless he sees sanitary gloves on
your hands. He's not gonna want to take food from anybody. No, stop,
he's not. Who's the other You don't get that vibe
from him from all the stories that were in the news.
Oh please, don't look at him, don't touch him. You
think he's gonna take fake They're just trying to knock down.
He can't be that big a dude, shouldn't be as
(02:11:42):
successful as he is. Come on, please, who's the celebrity
that you can't touch? The guy that was on it
was the game show with the boxes how Mandel that guy? Nah,
I think it's legit, Like, yeah, how he's got some
serious mental issues with that stuff. I think that's documented.
I haven't heard that much about Steve Harvey though. There's
been a lot of stories in the tabloids about Harvey
(02:12:03):
though lately. All Right, so the Ben Mallers Show on Fox.
Great job on that song. Thank you guys, I'm very
very flattered and honored. You want to bub and beyond
the call and that was tremendous, very nice. I think
we'll have to replay it again on tomorrow show. Yeah,
I think we should play that. That should be in
our rotation. I think we should definitely play that for sure.
(02:12:24):
All Right, So the Ben Maller Show on Fox. You
can be part of it. You know the number, give
us a buzz and that's at Ben Maller on Twitter.
That's at Ben Maller on Twitter. And a shot at
his airness, a shot at his airness. We'll get to that.
What does that mean? You mean we'll get to that.
We'll do it next. A night without the Ben Maller

Show is like a daytime listening to one of those
cookie cutter radio programs. We are different. Join our community

Show now Live from the Geico Fox Sports Radio Studios.
It's well, like all great pieces of art, there is
mixed reaction to that fine song that we heard here.
(02:13:08):
Some people loved it, they thought it was amazing. They're
remaining an encore. Several people pointing out it was just wonderful.
Harmony was solid instrumentals. That was from Edward. He wrote
in Daryl says that song was bad ass. Bubba says,
wait a minute. That was the Daniel Boone theme song
(02:13:31):
with the words change. What's up with that? Daniel says,
please do not play that song again. It made me
sick all the way in Indonesia. So with Daniel said,
one of our p ones in Indonesia who made a
dish for me in his house, a food dish. Yeah,
all right, so the mixed reviews, I thought it was wonderful,
(02:13:51):
So screw you. If you don't like it, We're gonna
play it every day. In fact, if I feel sick
and I have to miss a segment, or if I'm
too fatigued, because you know, I don't want to get hurt,
I take a segment off, We'll just play that song
in a loop over and over and over and over
and over and over again. Angry Bill. Angry Bill had
(02:14:12):
that golden ticket, and he's been a hold for a while,
but he's still using the golden ticket, and he goes
to the front of the line, Hello, Angry Bill tickets.
And that song scared me literally, Eve, you've never heard
something that good. It scared me so bad. The only
(02:14:34):
thing I pictured during the Get to the Middle Level,
I pictured you on a horse Cartwright on your sweeping
number bag together, and that's scared the hell out of me.
You're just jealous that nobody makes an Angry Bill song.
I know that, dude. There's a lot of jealousy. That's
all right, But man, I want to help you out
with this thing with Steve Harby, because you keep bringing
him up that you want to be friends with him
and all that. Look, it's really simple. It's so simple,
(02:14:55):
and I can't believe you haven't thought of it. You're
such a right man. What you do is your kid.
Oh my god, angry I guess Angry Bill went to
his clan rally this week. Ridiculous. All right, well, another
reason to go to the podcast. Oh nobody heard that?
(02:15:17):
All right, let's go to boy that escalated quickly. It's yes,
it did. Now. I'm happy Eddie that we kept them
and to hold that long. Yeah, let's go to Rod,
the ambassador of Bakersfield, and might I add song composer
Rod and Bakersfield. Hello, Rod, thank you you're very kind.
(02:15:39):
That was wonderful. Well, Ben, you can't please everybody all
the time. I guess I'm sorry Daniel and Bill No, no, no, no,
it's screw then they're idiots. I liked the song, that's
all that matters. Everyone on the show liked it. We
all were smiling, singing along, tapping our toes. It was great. Well,
bet I've got a credit where credit is due on this.
(02:16:01):
Uh you know, I get off at six in the morning,
I go home and at seven o'clock. Daniel was absolutely right.
I was sitting down watching an episode of the old
Daniel Boone and things just started popping in my head
and so I started I started writing things down. This
thing was ten verses long, and I had to credit
shorten it up quite a bit. Yeah, you were you
(02:16:22):
were inspired. It doesn't matter what inspires you. You were
inspired by Daniel Boone and you created this piece of art,
which is wonderful. Well, actually, I'm more inspired by you guys,
But you know, the credit goes. There's a gentleman by
the name of Eric I want to thank that put
this all together. And there's a young lady out there
that is one half of a p one listener um
(02:16:43):
hard body, good look and sexy that's her. That's her
exactly really and uh and uh. If it wasn't for
their work, this would have never have gotten done. And
I just wanted to thank them. And I want to
thank you guys just putting on such a great show.
All right, Well, I want to thank you. I don't
do a lot of thank you because I think it's
(02:17:05):
bad radio, but I want to thank you and I
want to thank you everyone that was involved. Eric you
said is the man's name and the p one from
a certain state. Uh, that has a lot of animals. Awesome.
I feel like I'm at the Grammys right now. This
is no this is great. This you should win a Grammy. Rod,
this should be up for this should be up for
a Grammy. Well let's let's let's not carry it quite
that for me anyway, guys, thanks a lot. Uh, have
(02:17:27):
a good night, all right, Thank you, Rod. Very nice.
So that's great. Well, that's a very nice gift by
Rod Well. Rod's really spoiled us. He when we went
to Bakersfield, this massive meal that we all picked out
on and Rod took care of us. He's brought us
ribs here to the radio station, brought me a big
bag of almonds are good ribs. Hell yeah, yeah, Rod takes,
(02:17:47):
he spoils me. He is good. All right. It's the
the Ben Mallers Show on Fox, Denver. Robs is Ben.
I have it on good authority that Steve Harvey loves
coconut donuts. So well, I'm sure sure we can find
a whole big box of coconut donuts. I'm sure we
can do that. How about this story now, Steve Kerr
(02:18:09):
talking about the Warriors and their championship run, that they're
on this juggernaut. As we shift gears over to the NBA, well,
Steve Kerr, trying to celebrate Steph Curry, crossed a line. Now,
Kurt played with Michael Jordan in Chicago, and did you
hear what he said? Have you heard this year? Steve Kerr,
while praising Steph Curry, said that his impact on NBA
(02:18:31):
defenses today is more dramatic than Michael Jordan's impact. Let
me repeat that because I know it's early in the
morning or late at night, depending on your time zone.
On Wednesday, Steve Kerr said, and I'm shortening it here,
but the impact of Steph Curry on defense is more
(02:18:53):
dramatic than Michael Jordan. Kursaid, quote, even Michael Jordan, people
have the Jordan, but nothing has ever been as dramatic
as what I have seen from opponents defensively scheming as
to how to deal with Steph Curry's end quote from
(02:19:13):
Steve Kurry, the coach of the Warriors. Well, maybe my
memory is going on. I'm at the age where I
watched Michael Jordan play in his prime for the Chicago Bulls.
My memory of Michael Jordan and what's gone on with
Steph Curry and Curry has been obviously integral, and he's
been great for the Warriors, But my memory of watching
(02:19:34):
Michael Jordan is much different than watching Steph Curry. But
Kurs said, literally, the offense of the Warriors, their offensive
system is built around chaos, and that Steph Curry creates
chaos for defense Steven Maller's show on Fox. I disagree
with that. But today listen, Steve Kurrs coaching Steph Curry
(02:19:55):
right now. He ain't coaching Michael Jordan. He ain't a
teammate with Jordan anymore. So what do you expect we
will get to fact or fiction. We'll get to that
in sixty seconds. No long commercial break. But first let's
find out what's trending. The Ben Maller Show is coming
to you live from the Geico Fox Sports Radio studios.
Fifteen minutes could save you fifteen percent or more on
car insurance. Visit Geico dot com for a free raid quote.
(02:20:19):
And now here's Ben Maller. We will get the factor
fiction in a moment. How about this story I just
came across about LaVar Ball. You read you've seen this
in GQ magazine. Any have you seen this week's It
just got released like within the last couple of hours. No,
I'm not. I don't know what you're talking about. Okay,
So a GQ magazine does an interview with LaVar Ball
(02:20:42):
and he says to the interview or from GQ magazine
that he told his middle sonle Angelo, that he won't
make the NBA. This is the quote from the interview
in GQ magazine. LaVar Ball said, I told my boys
that one of them wasn't gonna make it, because if
(02:21:02):
you got three, only one maybe two make it to
the NBA, A Ball declared. And then right in front
of everyone, right right from the big crowd of people. Uh,
he tells the the GQ writer that his middle son LiAngelo,
uh is not going to make it. That is tremendous.
(02:21:26):
There was there was there was more looking at least yeah, yeah,
he said. He said he was the easiest on the
eyes and that wonderful the ball dream killer. That is uh,
that is tremendous. All right. Well, hey, speaking of the
NBA Draft, the Lonzo Ball will be drafted. But what
(02:21:49):
will happen if the Lakers decide not to traft Lonzo Ball?
That would be a plot twist at the draft. Well
for the best NBA Draft show to night catch Doug Gottlieb,
Chris Brussard, Yeah that Chris Broussard and Metal world Piece.
Yeah that Metal world Piece formerly known as ron Our
Test right here on Fox Sports Radio in the very
(02:22:10):
studio I'm broadcasting from and iHeartRadio, beginning at seven pm
Eastern and taking you all the way through the entire
first round of Tonight's draft. They'll have picked by pick,
predictions and analysis you won't get anywhere else for all
thirty picks in the first round. That is to night
with Doug Gottlieb, Chris Brussard and Meadow World Piece seven
(02:22:32):
pm Eastern, Right here on Fox Sports Radio, please trans
bit of media. Is it fact? Let's face some raw
fact on the Ben Meller Show. All right, let's do it.
Is factor fiction time. We'll give you three stories. They
(02:22:53):
all sound somewhat believable and somewhat fake. Your job, as
you listen right now while you're driving, well, you're trying
to wake up. We're trying to stay awake, is to
figure out which of these three stories is not true.
But before we get to the game, let's welcome in
our celebrity panel, the best and the brightest, the judges
that have assembled and united as one all over North
(02:23:14):
America and beyond. We start out with the Power Couple
and we go now to Florida. Is it going to
be Leslie or is it going to be Jack the Judge?
Typically it's Leslie. Is this the week the Jack the
Judge calls? I don't know. We talked him a couple
of weeks ago, so we probably won't call. Now put
your bets in, all right, and let's find out. Is
(02:23:34):
it Jack the Judge or is it Leslie? And who
is it? Hello? Ben, Hey, it's Jack the Judge. We
got the judge in the house. Jack the Judge. Good
to speak with you, sir. Everything going all right for you?
Things fine. I'm just wondering, Ben, did you see the
ESPN thirty thirty show on the Celtics and Lakers. I
(02:23:56):
haven't recorded. I did not. I did not watch it.
Have you watched it? Yeah? I just thought i'd ask
you about. It's very very good. Yeah, it's worth seeing.
It's played several times. Yeah, I have it saved to
see it. I have it on my DVR, but I
have not watched. I've heard mixed reviews. Some people like
it a lot, other people not so much. But you
liked it, so that's a good. But it was very good.
(02:24:17):
But I was just wondering, why didn't they introview Casey
Jones as he's still with us. That's a good question,
is Casey Jones? Let me? I can? I can find
the answer in like two seconds. Yes, he's eighty five
years old. So they had Riley on there, but they
didn't have Casey Jones. I just I should have had
my favorite Celtic coach, Bill Fitch. Why didn't they? Was
(02:24:39):
he in there? Yes? He was all good? Yes, all right,
Bill Fitch? Jack to Judge when Bill Fitch coached the Clippers.
He said, I was the worst player he ever coached.
I played in the media game and Bill Fitch was
the coach. He said, I was the worst player he
ever coached, and I was honored. I was honored Jack,
because the best player he ever coached was Larry Bird
with the Celtics. So oh, well, that's pretty good. Yeah,
(02:25:01):
I'm the worst Birds the best. That was at Clippers
training camp one year in the UH. I think that
was a you see Irvine, if I remember correctly, it
was all right, hold on, Jack, there he goes Jack
to judge. Where he goes no one knows, and he'll
be one of our celebrity judges. We have Michael in Nashville. Hello, Michael, Yo,
(02:25:23):
big things? Can you give me? Took up on the steroids?
The Big Blue Wrecking Crew is what they are. They're
mashing the baseball. I love it. It's great. It's like
it's like the Dodgers have moved into the Great American
Ballpark all of a sudden, the hitting home runs like
they're the Reds. Well, whatever they're using, I guess the
judge jumped off that bandwagon with them. That Jack. Yeah,
(02:25:47):
but like Aaron Judge is ridiculous. Bellinger looks like a
toothpick compared to Aaron Judge. Yeah, all right, hold on, Michael,
we had a big Yasio peak controversy last night. The
Mets were all upset. They were triggered because Quigg showboated
God forbid. Justin in Cincinnati's a judge, Hello, Justin? Do
(02:26:08):
you think Bill walked around Florida saying where the black
women are? Yeah? I don't know what's going on with
angry Bill. He goes to these clan meetings and then
all of a sudden he comes back with all this
rhetoric with yeah, unfortunate, all right, everything good? Justin? Yes,
everything great? All right. Now Patrick is in sun Diego,
(02:26:29):
the uber driver Uber Patrick, good morning to our fearless
leader and the Grand Puba of the Militia. So Patrick,
as a rookie, I love being a part of it.
That song was awesome. That was a good Sorry, I
liked that. Good job by a radio not radio rich.
Good job by the ambassador Rod in Bakersville and Tammy
and Montana. Now, Patrick, what's the secret to being a
(02:26:50):
successful uber driver? You know what? It's getting out, open
up that door, being helping the girls in and out
of the car. Don't just sit in that driver's seat.
You got a to be proactive. Full service. Yes, well,
when you say full service, that's not Yeah, that's not.
Come on, just being a being a gentleman. I understand,
I understand. All right, Oh yeah, this guy's listening to
(02:27:12):
think differently. All right, Radio Rich, he was on my
mind in the areas. Hello, Radio Rich, the old curmunction
of callers. That's right, you are the curmunction of cars.
You love that nick name. You've been banned by many
radio stations and loved by others. How do you like that?
I can know that I've been banned by many and
loved by You've told me. You've told me over the
(02:27:33):
years that you've gotten into dustups with radio station. You
were very upset with the station and wheeling right, you're
very upset with the local station. Oh yeah, they damn yeah,
they had you know. Breaking news was made on at Tuesday,
Making news of the sport news was made on Tuesday
at two thirty. All right, let's get to it. Here
we go. It's factor fiction time. I will give you
(02:27:54):
three stories. You figure out which of the three is
not true, and you start with number one and you
can play as you listen. Here we go, Ricky Williams
investing in new machinery. Well, marijuana is set to become
legalized for recreational use in the great State of Nevada
on July first, and a company in Las Vegas has
(02:28:14):
developed a machine that caught Ricky Williams. Ie Acres Cannabis
built a machine that rolls one hundred joints in five minutes. Now,
Ricky Williams is a big investor in this company, and
he might know from back in the day that Ricky,
he was known to enjoy and dabble in this plans
to use the machines for his growing weed gym business,
(02:28:38):
which there was one in San Francisco in the Bay area.
All right, question number two nor story number two. Joey
Vado getting ready to buy a dunkey. Before the start
of the season. It was boring days in spring training
in Arizona. Joey Vado promised shortstop Zach Cozart that if
he made the All Star team, then Vada would buy
(02:29:01):
him a donkey. A jackass. Seems like it's long shot
gonna happen. It wasn't long I was a two forty
six hitter at the time, but Cozart has been lighting
up National League scoreboards. Is currently leading in the National
League shortstop vote for the All Star Game. And asked
about the deal, Cozart said, I don't know why I
(02:29:21):
like donkeys so much. Maybe because they look like they're
real chill wow, Okay, as long as he's not dating them,
all right. Story story number three Marshawn Lynch giving away haircuts.
The city of Oakland excited to have Marshawn Lynch back
in the Bay Area. And not just because he's gonna
(02:29:43):
play for the hometown Raiders till they leave town and
get daddle off to Vegas, but also because he's a
pillar of the community. Marshawn Lynch is offering free haircuts
every Wednesday to local kids who have good grades and
the Beast Mode. The Beast Modes store, according to the advertisements,
say all you need to do is represent or present
(02:30:06):
rather a report card with a three point o GPA
or hire and they will clip your hair. Those are
the three stories again. Story number one Ricky Williams investing
in weed machinery. Story two Joey Vado buying a donkey,
getting ready to buy a donkey for a Red's teammate.
And story number three, Marshawn Lynch will give you a
(02:30:28):
haircut if you've got good grades. Let's go to a
real life, living and breathing judge, Jack the judge. How
many years are you a judge? Jack? Twenty one years?
This guy was in the courtroom with the robe, the
whole thing. All right, Jack, what's the answer. What do
you think? I'll go with number one? The Ricky Williams story?
All right, Jack the judge is spoke, and have a
(02:30:51):
great weekend, Jack, and say hi to your lovely wife
for us. Thank you right here? All right, thank you Jack.
I wonder how how much Leslie pester's Jack to call us.
I love though they're the best. I have a feeling, though,
that that Leslie is behind Jack suddenly calling what I
don't know. I'm not against it. I'm not against it.
(02:31:11):
I love that we're hearing from Jack Moore. And I
like when Leslie calls Michael in Nashville, who made some
scandalous accusations about the Los Angeles Dodgers cheating. How dare
you Michael? What's the answer? Easy? Now? Is a great
community service number so, and I know what com in
the past with Are you gonna speak up? I can't
(02:31:34):
hear you. What's the answer? Number one? Number one? He's
gonna go with. All right, we'll put that down, Michael,
thank you, your phone blows. Let's say hello to Justin
in Cincinnati. Justin. I'm going with number three. Number Three's yes, sir,
all right, we'll have a good day of working Justin.
All right, there he goes Patrick the Uber driver, full
(02:31:57):
service Uber driver. You don't have to pay. I've been
Ricky Williams. You know, he's from my part of town
over here in San Diego. But I don't buy that
story at all. So I'm going with the judge, and
let's go with number one, number one. Okay, Patrick, Thank you, so, Patrick,
Michael and Jack all in agreement. And next up is
Radio Rich, the curmudgeon of call. There is ohhead down
(02:32:21):
number two. Brother. And when you talk about the best
and the brightest, I don't know that that's a fact. Wow.
I mean that's all you got, Rich, That's it. You know.
I'm just thinking, all right, we don't have time again
run down all the stories. We will tell you the
winner though we have not one, not too, but three winners.
Number one was the fictional story, the Ricky Williams story.
(02:32:44):
So you said that, good job by you those other stories,
aren't you. Marshawn Lynch given away haircuts, the kids and
Joey Votto on track to buy a donkey. That's right,
we'll get to cowboys corner. We'll get to that. We'll
do it next. There's a world one of excitement going
on around our show reddit page. Search for our subreddit
Ben Maller Show and get the latest authentic listener generated
(02:33:05):
content about the Mallard Militia. Now a live from the
Guy Coo Fox Sports Radio Studios. It's Ben Maller. Eke
rites and says the Ben Maller's song from earlier this hour,
outstanding you and your crew, meaning Rod in Bakersfield. I
guess should should get a benny the people that put
(02:33:25):
this on. Yeah, that certainly will be in consideration for
the benny's when those come around. We'll get the Calost
corner here in a moment, there was something called the
expansion draft for the Las Vegas NHL franchise. Eddie, I
know you were watching it. Did you enjoy the festivities
for the Golden Knights. Yeah, it was unique. It was
(02:33:48):
interesting to see, you know this, how this team's gonna
be put together. I think the interesting thing about it
was all the side deals that Vegas made with teams
to not pick players on the first round pick from
the Islanders for one of them. They got a bunch
of picks and prospects going forward, so they're pretty stocked
going going forward. But they're they're gonna suck, right, they're
gonna be I think there's they're gonna be the worst
(02:34:09):
team in hockey this coming year. That I think they're
just as good as Arizona and Vancouver and Colorado right
now in that division. That's they're in the Pacific Division
with the Kings and the Ducks and the Sharks. Oh
they are. Yeah, Okay, all right, so they have to
worry I guess the King's fan, as you know, Eddie,
I don't have to worry about that Las Vegas team yet, right,
I don't have to worry about the Golden Knights as
(02:34:29):
far as being a contender for the division. No, I'm
all right, let's Cowboy up on the Ben Maller Show
and we say allot to Cowboy John Bryan. Okay, five
two am Eastern daylight time on Thursday, June twenty seconds,
twenty seventeen, eighty fannniversary of Joe Lewis round former Major
(02:34:54):
leaguer Jake Wood's eighty today as Sidney Law for sixty
four to day and Lewis Events think there's a I'm
ready to bring the gap, Max failing by knocking out
Smiling in the first round June twenty second, nineteen thirty eight.
And Darryl Kyle, the Singlis Cardinals pitcher, died fifteen years
ago today, four days after the death of Plase Bell
(02:35:15):
Up the Cardinals broadcaster a Joe Buck to speak to people, Mamay,
it's been fifteen years since that happened. My god, thim
out kicked the coverage. Clay Travis warming up in the
Fox bullpen
