(01:24):
the pod now today booh, We're gonna have some fun.
We're gonna talk multi sport athletes because I'm gonna predict
a new trend in the world of sports.

Speaker 1 (01:33):
Because of all the money.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
Floating around, I guarantee something is gonna happen and we're
gonna start seeing it real soon. Plus, World Baseball Classic
is poppin' Otani Juan Soto. We'll get to all that,
and we're gonna be joined by my dude and yours,
mister lights out, Sean Merriman, because who better to break
down whether or not Logan Paul could whoop the ass

(01:56):
of NFL players.

Speaker 4 (01:58):
This is the perfect athlete to have on about this topic.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
I thought the same.

Speaker 2 (02:02):
I'm like, who knows football and fighting more than a
guy that's one of the best defenders of our lifetime
and a guy that runs a fight league, so lights
out shown Merriman will be here. But you know, before
we get into all this, can we close the chapter
on something. Can we, you know, figure out something that
we've been seeing all week on social media? Have you

(02:24):
seen the CEO of McDonald's take a little little baby
bite of the new Archburger guy looks like he's never
eaten McDonald's in his life. In fact, I wouldn't be
shocked if he's like, just the CEO and he's like,
do you think I eat that trash? No way, I
wouldn't shock me. And then burger King came out. Ceo

(02:45):
is to get a big bite of a whopper whend
he's gets involved, but Danny g was kind enough on
his way in to stop and get the new big arch.
This is no commercial. If it tastes like ass, i'll
tell you. If it's good, i'll tell you. But I figure,
why not give it a shot together?

Speaker 1 (03:02):
I was Sam, you got your burger? Yeah, you d
got you got your burger.

Speaker 5 (03:08):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (03:08):
They're in front of all of us, right.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
Well, I think it's I think we should all take.

Speaker 4 (03:11):
A uh except Dan Byer, he only eats chicken nuggies.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
We should have got him. We should got him move
the six piece.

Speaker 2 (03:18):
They have those little uh you know what they have
now in the kids meal because once a week, I
uh you know, you don't want eat McDonald's too much
and you'll feel like ass. I let my kids go
once after baseball practice and they have what we had
as kids, remember the like the little things that turn
into animals, like like a burger will turn into a creature,
or a fry box of fries turns into something like

(03:40):
little transformer McDonald's toys.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
We'll get them one of those.

Speaker 4 (03:43):
Well, I'll tell you what I have this in common
with buyer. I like what I like. And if somebody says, oh,
there's this new burger, I'm not the first to go
taste tested.

Speaker 1 (03:51):
All right, Well, I think we all like a tasty burger.

Speaker 4 (03:57):
This is a tasty burger.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
Thank you.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
I'm gonna say, if you ask me my personal opinion,
I'm more of a smash burger type of guy. I'm
down with a little Freddy's. I'm down with a little
uh shake shack usually.

Speaker 1 (04:12):
In and out.

Speaker 2 (04:12):
I get down with if within and out. McDonald's not usually.
So let's do this. Let's cross this off our list.
Of things, Danny. All week, we've been trying to figure
out and if you don't know what we're talking about,
the CEO of McDonald's, I think he you know, no
offense to this guy. I'm sure he's trying his best,
but you don't debut newburger. Put a video out and

(04:34):
take a little baby, honestly, a little baby be bite.
Just listen to a little recap of what this dude did.

Speaker 6 (04:43):
Donald's ceo probably doesn't actually eat McDonald's after a recent
promotional clip. That rumor is louder than ever. In the video,
Chris Kemshinsky appears on camera to introduce the new big Archburger.
He holds it up confidently, gives a quick introduction and
say that's up what he calls the moment of truth.
Oh what wars Expect a big, satisfying bite. Instead, he takes

(05:06):
one of the smallest bites imaginable.

Speaker 4 (05:09):
That is so good.

Speaker 6 (05:10):
It's careful, it's controlled. It almost looks like he doesn't
want to fully commit to it.

Speaker 2 (05:15):
Oh, it looks like he doesn't know how to eat
a burger. We're gonna take a bite right now. We'll
give you the scoop and we can move on with
our life.

Speaker 4 (05:21):
It looks like he doesn't eat burgers.

Speaker 1 (05:23):
You know my rule?

Speaker 2 (05:24):
If I go out with a bunch of grown ups,
bunch of grown men and women, I think it's embarrassing
if you don't finish the burger on your plate.

Speaker 1 (05:31):
I really do. I think it's like a weird thing.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
You ever go out with You ever go out with
a group of people and you see someone left like
a quarter of their burger. I could see leaving some
fries or salad or something on the side. If you
leave a part of your burger, like, what do we do?
I would say them, Have you ever left a part
of your burger?

Speaker 3 (05:46):
No?

Speaker 7 (05:47):
If I have like an entree and there's a meat,
is that one of the main courses? I usually finish
the steak, finish the burger.

Speaker 1 (05:53):
I mean you have to. It's like part of the rules.
What's up Dan Bayer's fellows?

Speaker 4 (05:58):
How are you?

Speaker 1 (05:58):
You're a nuggy guy? Heard you're not?

Speaker 8 (06:00):
Huh No, Well, yeah, here's the deal. I am a
plain hamburger. That's it. Bunning the meat only so the lettuce,
the cheese. I saw the video and he was as
as the CEO was describing the burger. It just had
everything that I don't like. I you have to say
bun and meat.

Speaker 4 (06:14):
That's it.

Speaker 8 (06:14):
My diet's like a ten year old and so I
am not in with the big arch unless it's arch manning,
Like that's the only thing that we are going with.

Speaker 4 (06:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (06:22):
It's like every night with my wife's like, what do
you want for dinner? And I yeah, whatever you want.
She's like, no, no for the kids because my kids
are like you. She's like, their menu is limited.

Speaker 4 (06:30):
Yes, Dino chicken.

Speaker 2 (06:33):
Chicken, Dino nuggets, mac and cheese, maybe a plane burger,
got it. You gotta trick them. All right, let's take
about of this and we'll move on with our lives.
Danny g I was sam all at the same time.
This is the arch burger, Babe.

Speaker 1 (06:47):
It's it. Know, it's a good looking burger. It's a
good looking burger.

Speaker 4 (06:50):
Man. I didn't even bring my water in.

Speaker 5 (06:52):
Oh.

Speaker 8 (06:52):
I know you guys got napkins. Are you allowed to
do that with the equipment?

Speaker 4 (06:57):
Yeah? Yeah, Well just on you guys.

Speaker 1 (07:00):
Chew.

Speaker 2 (07:01):
You know what, pretty tasty burger, but it really tastes
no different than if you were to get another McDonald's burger.
It tastes like that. You know that McDonald's meat we
well sauce and cheese.

Speaker 8 (07:13):
No Donald's meat that comes out in the plastic tray.
I mean, but that's like that's a man bite. What
are we doing?

Speaker 1 (07:19):
Did you guys eat? Danny ate it?

Speaker 8 (07:20):
Like the Burger King ceo. Remember how he like was
really trying to hot dog it. No pun intended, but
he really took the big bite, like, look at this
is why I come to Burger King for the big bike,
the big one.

Speaker 4 (07:32):
Yes, but I will say dB. If I go to
In and Out with my wife, she makes fun of
that first bite. She's like, geez, you were hundred and
then I slow down. I'm like, take a care. First
bike looks like the Cincinnati Reds logo.

Speaker 1 (07:44):
It's just it's just a wishbone of meat at the end. Right,
my good, that's funny. All right? So hey, pretty good?

Speaker 4 (07:52):
Not bad? You give it one out of ten burger listen.

Speaker 1 (07:56):
So I would still prefer like a shakeshacker in and
out or something like that, but.

Speaker 4 (07:59):
This is make seven with two pickles.

Speaker 1 (08:02):
I'll give it a I'll give it six point seven.

Speaker 2 (08:05):
I'll be like an annoying teenager seven it's it's average,
it's adequate. But if you think you're getting a different taste,
it tastes like a McDonald's.

Speaker 1 (08:12):
Burger, just with a little souse on it. It tastes
like a Big Mac.

Speaker 7 (08:14):
It has more crunch with like crispy onions. I took
like a full semi circle by it out of there,
and it's pretty good good. Yeah, I mean it tastes
like McDonald's though, definitely. Yeah, there's no all their signature
flavors that they have in there.

Speaker 2 (08:26):
If you ordered like a cheeseburger for McDonald's versus this,
it's like tastes the same. So don't waste My thought is,
don't waste your time and money.

Speaker 1 (08:34):
Danny G. You said its almost ten bucks for one
of these.

Speaker 4 (08:36):
Yeah, after tax it's ten dollars. How different is it
from a Big Mac?

Speaker 1 (08:41):
Not much. I can't tell you the last time I
had a Big Mac. But it has that.

Speaker 4 (08:43):
Except for the Big Mac sauce. Yeah, a little bit
of the Yeah.

Speaker 1 (08:45):
It's it's same. So hey, you know what we did
the work for you. Don't waste your.

Speaker 4 (08:49):
Time, do you.

Speaker 8 (08:49):
Well, that's the that's the question, Like, is the promotion
from all of this just to at least get you
there once. Like you're saying, like, okay, fine, it was good,
but like I like, I for a second there, I'm like,
oh man, I feel bad for McDonald's that you know,
Rich didn't like it. But then I'm like, maybe that's
just their point is to get people into the walls,
into the you know, into the restaurant or drive through

(09:10):
for the one time to try it.

Speaker 2 (09:12):
That that sign they have with billions served outside there
for a reason. But yeah, maybe right if millions of
people like I'll try it, Yes, I guess uh point
made so Rich.

Speaker 5 (09:23):
Uh.

Speaker 7 (09:24):
Here's what is supposed to be on it. Two quarter
pound beef patties. Three slices of white cheddar cheese which
I couldn't tell the difference. No crispy and sliver it
all white cheese looks the same to me. Crispy and
slivered onions, which I could tell. There was more of
a crunch to it, which is nice, like with the
lettuce pickles, lettuce and a new tangy big big arch sauce,
big Arch sauce which tastes like the same sauce it's

(09:45):
on a big Mac.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
Yeah, it's like that. It's like that sauce that's on
every like smash which is or anything?

Speaker 1 (09:50):
Is that like basically a thousand Island dressing on.

Speaker 2 (09:52):
So hey, you know what, DB's right. I don't think
this has the rage at all. Remember a couple of
years ago when it was the Popey's Chicken sandwich. Now
that was something else.

Speaker 8 (10:01):
Huh, Yes, truly was people standing outside. And here's the
deal with Popeyes. So Popeyes will give you if you
were to order tenders, if you guys, don't mind. I
don't know if there's another topic.

Speaker 1 (10:11):
Please do. I love food radio.

Speaker 8 (10:13):
The great thing about Popeyes is that the spiciness doesn't
come in the sauce when you're ordering the tenders or
if you're ordering the chicken. The spiciness is within the
chicken itself. There's a spicy it's not just an adding
of a sauce. The sandwich was different. The filet that
they gave you was just a normal filet, but they

(10:33):
give you a spicy sauce. So I'm not a big
sauce guy, but I would have loved like Wendy's, the
Wendy Spicy Chicken Sandwich. The reason why it's so good
is because the actual chicken is spicy. You can see
the you know, the flex of pepper on there, like
that's what makes it so good. And it's why I'm
not a huge Raising Canes fan, because it's all about
their sauce. Otherwise it's just to me plain tenders and fries.

Speaker 2 (10:55):
Dampire likes his chicken sandwiches like a Latina woman. The
spice within, Yeah, old spice. That's what I'm getting out
of this.

Speaker 8 (11:02):
Latin and Armenian women. That's you know, you know I
have to bring my wife into this. Yeah, but you
want that inner absolutely, But that's the that's the difference
of it. So when you're just putting like the sauce
that is spicy, I think in a way it's a
cop out for some of these places.

Speaker 1 (11:15):
You don't mean that will extra sauce. I hear you, dB. Yeah,
good sauce. That's a good sauce. Thank you, Ben Aler,
Thank you d B. Thank you guys. So we could
we could close the book.

Speaker 2 (11:25):
Danny g on the on the Burger Wars of twenty
twenty six.

Speaker 7 (11:28):
Who do I owe ten bucks for for lunch? No,
it's it's is it going in to see on our budget?

Speaker 1 (11:32):
It's go. Yeah, it's thank you. We're taking out of
the see in our budget. Thank you very much.

Speaker 4 (11:35):
Thank you, Scott Shapiro, Thanks God or whoever, don't thank you.

Speaker 1 (11:38):
I'm paying for it. Nice to see in our budget.

Speaker 2 (11:40):
But you know what, I always love when companies like,
oh yeah, petty cash.

Speaker 1 (11:43):
I'm like, wh where does petty cash come from? What
do you know what that means?

Speaker 2 (11:46):
All right, listen a lot coming up on the show.
Thank you for indulging our indulgence of one. Actually I
took two bites. I'll be honest, I'm gonna end u finishing.
I'm crush this thing, I said. I said to you,
it's one bite, and everyone knows the rules, and we
have beating the whole thing.

Speaker 1 (12:00):
I'll h Dave. I said to Danny Jago, why did
I just buy a couple? We'll we'll, we'll split them.

Speaker 2 (12:06):
I'm going to the Dominican Republican a week and I
need uh, I need my beach bod. And he's like, you,
you don't think that'll look weak as hell if you
if we split a burger.

Speaker 1 (12:13):
I'm like, you're right, let's get our own burgers.

Speaker 7 (12:15):
I remember as a kid, I would order a cheeseburger,
and my dad would like cut it in half for me,
and then like later in life, he's like, yeah, you
really don't cut a burger in half, eat it hole.

Speaker 1 (12:23):
We were just being cheap. Yeah, yeah, that was for
your sister.

Speaker 2 (12:27):
My parents would never get drinks at a restaurant, like
the idea of a fountain, so it was like, no, no,
we got stuff at home, and I'm like, yeah, but
we're eating here.

Speaker 1 (12:36):
Get a water cup. All right.

Speaker 2 (12:38):
I want to start today's show besides burgers. I want
to talk about something Danny sent me. It made me
confirm my thoughts on where the sports world is going,
and this one had to do with Anthony Edwards. Anthony
Edwards throwing some vibes out there in the form of
his plans for the future.

Speaker 1 (12:58):
Listen to this.

Speaker 2 (12:59):
Anthony Edwards has expressed interest in playing in the NFL,
specifically stating he would try to become a wide receiver
or a backup quarterback if he wins an NBA title
before the age of thirty. And you know, with the
money floating floating around sports now, and we talked about

(13:21):
Kyler Murray the other day. In fact, yesterday, we were
saying Kyler Murray. Here's a guy that made a couple
hundred million dollars in the NFL. He could now say
chapter closed, let me go give my shout of baseball.

Speaker 1 (13:35):
The A's who said, hey, invite still there.

Speaker 2 (13:38):
Do you think we were would see a day where
players said I made so much money quick that I
could try another sport.

Speaker 4 (13:47):
I don't think so.

Speaker 1 (13:48):
You think people are just gonna stick with Brent.

Speaker 4 (13:51):
I think that.

Speaker 8 (13:51):
You know, remember Brandon Wheden, he played minor league baseball.
I end that and then ended up being drafted. I
think Brandon was twenty eight when he was drafted by.

Speaker 1 (14:00):
The Brown Yeah he was. I remember being like, wow,
this is a rookie and he's almost thirty.

Speaker 8 (14:03):
Yes, yes, Like I think you have to you have
to burn out that way.

Speaker 4 (14:09):
I think it would be.

Speaker 8 (14:10):
I don't know how Anthony Edwards could find a spot
for him, considering every position in the NFL is let's
get younger, except if you're playing quarterback. But that would
be the I just I don't see it, especially with
how good these athletes are now.

Speaker 2 (14:26):
Ben and Jerry Jones always put out that permanent invite
to Lebron James if he if he wanted to give
his shot a tight end in the NFL. Yeah, because
a lot of these guys are just pure athletes and
Anthony Edwards is a guy that the guy's a specimen.
So could Anthony Edwards play in the NFL? Again, we
don't know. We've never seen him catch footballs. We've never

(14:47):
seen him, you know, drop back in the pocket. And
you know he said he wants to be a backup quarterback.
There's a little bit more to it than Anthony Edwards
saying he wants to do it.

Speaker 4 (14:55):
It's correct.

Speaker 8 (14:56):
They're like Matt. I remember Matt Barnes. You know Matt
everybody knows from all the smoke now. Yeah, but he
was great high school football player. Allen Iverson's history of
how great of a football player that he was. But
I think that goes away once you in very rare instances,
can you do it and then also play at that

(15:18):
high level? That's the part like there's just there's only
so many Bo Jackson's and Dion Sande that the guy.

Speaker 2 (15:24):
I wrote down, I'm like God of the days of
Bow and Dion where you're trying to do it at
the same time. Maybe there maybe we're entering a world
where a guy's like, yeah, I'm not even thirty and
I've made one hundred plus million dollars.

Speaker 1 (15:35):
My passion is to play a different sport.

Speaker 2 (15:37):
And listen, I know those guys that are just great
athletes that we've heard could do anything, like like a
Mookie Bets. And I'm not saying Bowling's the money winner,
but like Mookie Bets. Have you seen this guy do
everything everything Mookie Bets does athletically, You're like, oh, wow,
he's just he's an athlete. He's the kid that played
every season, every sport when he was a little boy.

Speaker 1 (15:56):
But you know, now he's a grownup.

Speaker 2 (15:58):
Would he step away from baseball to give it a
shot at something else? Would Anthony Edwards say, yeah, I'm
an e lead NBA player, but you know what, I've
made my big money.

Speaker 1 (16:08):
Let me go try to play football.

Speaker 4 (16:10):
You have to love football. That's that's a conversation in itself.

Speaker 8 (16:14):
I mean, if you've played, if you love football, if
you play football, because it is not the easiest sport
to love. So for Anthony Edwards to say that that
he would really really love football, I mean, the guy
is ripped.

Speaker 4 (16:25):
He's a freak specimen.

Speaker 8 (16:27):
But I don't know why you'd want to play football
when you can make so much more money.

Speaker 2 (16:31):
That's what I would say, save your body. That's the
Kyler Murray argument because money in the NFL. Even if
he ends up with the Vikings or someone, he'd still
make more significantly more there, in my opinion, than if
he did anything with the A's or in baseball, because he'd.

Speaker 1 (16:45):
Sort of have to start over here.

Speaker 2 (16:46):
He's not going to get some Wan Soto you know
Otani contract, Aaron Judge money just because he's Kyler Murray
going to baseball. So he's still going to make tens
of millions dollars as a quarterback somewhere. Likely is he
is he willing to say, you know what, for my
health and to fresh fresh start, I'm going to do baseball.

Speaker 8 (17:07):
It's also different because in DM's not the greatest example,
but because DM did play at a couple of teams.
But like, if you're Kyler Murray, are you are you
really rushing the play for the A's right now? It
would be different. I mean, you know, I'll give Bo
Jackson credit for doing it with the Royals. I don't
know if that was the day and age that we

(17:28):
live in. But being a Yankee and doing it is
brings a lot more cachet than it would be to
be a Sacramento a.

Speaker 2 (17:36):
I mean, listen, I know it is because there was
sort of a an ending that they didn't really want.
But Tim Tebow when football is over, remember he gave
a shot at baseball and he played minor league ball
for the Mets and tried to he tried to take
the team breaking spring training, and it was just like, yeah, sorry, dude.

Speaker 1 (17:51):
As much as the story would have been cool, like
you're good, you're not you're not a professional.

Speaker 8 (17:57):
Yeah you're not that you're good. You can mix it
up with the guys here and there, but don't have any.

Speaker 4 (18:03):
Falls on that.

Speaker 2 (18:04):
Like I very much like the goat Michael Jordan, I mean,
the greatest of all time in basketball. You know, could
swing a bat better than all of us in the bigs.
But he's not going to make a big league team
just because he's Michael Jordan.

Speaker 8 (18:16):
There's also a bit of arrogance that goes along with it,
where you really have to be that unique of an
athlete's and relate to the other players for them to
welcome you. To think that you could just walk into
their world and end up taking over. Now, like Bo
Jackson's talent was undeniable. He was an All star in baseball,
and we saw what he did on the football field

(18:36):
before getting injured. But so there wasn't like a question
of that. But I'm sure that there were players if
they weren't in all of Michael Jordan wondered like, all right,
what's going on here? And I would assume for as
great as a guy that Tim Tebow is, it is
a bit of an arrogant thinking to like think like, hey,
I can just come in here and play this sort of.

Speaker 2 (18:54):
Yeah, I always felt bad for the guys that were
fighting for spots and it's like, yeah, man, Tim Tebow
or Michael Jordan's someone took my spot at their attempt
at like a hobby a muster.

Speaker 8 (19:04):
Yes, And then if you were to say something about it,
you would look a one hundred times worse. Yeah, even
though you're probably valid in all of your feelings with
how it played out.

Speaker 1 (19:12):
No doubt.

Speaker 2 (19:12):
Well, you know what a guy that knows about multiple sports,
a guy that knows about the fight game and football,
and this ties him perfectly because we're coming off of
days of Logan Paul talking a lot of smack about
NFL players and Tom Brady calling him a.

Speaker 1 (19:27):
Bit so we got lights out. Sean Merriman joining us.

Speaker 2 (19:31):
Next, we'll talk a little bit about whether or not
NFL players could get in the ring with Logan Paul
and whoop his ass or would we be shocked of
what Logan Paul could do. Plus, we'll talk some NFL

little harsh.

Speaker 7 (21:46):
Listen, you take a bite of McDonald's and then you're like, McDonald's, though,
this is this really good? And then you find yourself
eating all of it, and you're like, how that happened, dude.

Speaker 2 (21:55):
I get why Portnoy says one bite but ends up
taking more bites because I took one bite and I'm like,
this is and I took another bite. I got some
more of that sauce and stuff, and I'm like, but
then again, it's gaining on me.

Speaker 1 (22:06):
I'm not saying I'm no.

Speaker 2 (22:07):

(23:01):

I'm I'm no b Yes, sir, I'll tell you the truth.
Danny G went the call like Sean Merriman. He has
his old number. So Danny G got like hello, yeah
Sean mayor Yeah, this is this is Delma. So it's
like a random number. So Danny G's hunting down his
updated night.

Speaker 4 (23:21):
That's how long his agent has been his agent that
he has Sean's other old number in his phone.

Speaker 8 (23:27):
His nickname is no longer lights out, it's lines out,
lines out, Sean Merriman.

Speaker 2 (23:32):
I hope things are good. He give us a cricket
wireless number. All right, we'll get Sean Merriman on the
phone in just a couple of minutes. But in the meantime,
let's kick it to our dude, Dan Buyer for an update.

Speaker 1 (23:42):
dB. What's going on, my friend? Thank you very much.

Speaker 4 (23:44):
Rich.

Speaker 8 (23:44):
A lot going on in the NFL today, getting ready
for that new league year that starts on Wednesday. Of course,
the free agent legal free agent Tampa ring period will
start on Monday. Today, the Raiders released quarterback Gino Smith,
Texan's letting go of running back Jill Mixon, while Viking
center Ryan Kelly announced that he is retiring. In college football,
former Michigan head football coach Charon Moore reached a plea

(24:06):
deal following his arrest last December. He led no contest
to two misdemeanors, as the felony home invasion charge against
Moore was dropped. More will be sentenced on April fourteenth,
but he is not expected to serve any jail time.
In college basketball, North Carolina dealt another blow when it
came to freshman guard Caleb Wilson. Wilson's going to miss
the rest of the season after fracturing his right thumb

(24:28):
in practice on Thursday. In the NBA, Celtics star Jason
Tatum makes his season debut to night against the Mavericks
ten months after tearing his achilles last season, while Lebron
James won't play to night against the Pacers out because
of a left elbow contusion, also dealing with left foot arthritis.
Ending golf second round play. Wrapping up at the Arnold
Palmer Invitational, Daniel Berger is your second round leader, shot

(24:50):
sixty eight today. He's at thirteen under, five shots better
than ox Sheha Batilla, who's at eight under, as for
Rory McElroy, none shots back at minus four Scottie Shecheffer
floor wrapping up his round. Still on the course, he
is at four under par and nine shots back of
the lead. And a quick score update from Arch Madness.
You know I love it in Saint Louis u I
S University of Illinois, Chicago, leading Murray State seventy seven

(25:14):
to fifty four with nine minutes to go. If the
Flames sold on with their twenty three point lead, they
will face Drake in the next round. Who upseed who
upset top seeded Belmont earlier today one hundred to seventy nine.

Speaker 2 (25:26):
Rich back to you, Oh thank you, dB, And how
ironic Daniel Berger the day we try our Burgers leading.

Speaker 1 (25:34):
And Arch madness, and we're trying the arch, the big arch.
I mean, how about that?

Speaker 2 (25:38):
The show rights Heather, the show rights itself. Sam, you
know what the big buzz this week?

Speaker 1 (25:43):
I don't know why. I'm a sucker for a good
fight and its counld be know one. I always say,
what do we like? A good fight and a good booty?

Speaker 2 (25:49):
And by the way, tonight Team USA against Brazil World
Baseball Classic. They may beat us in a booty contest,
but I think we got this one tonight, a USA.
Let's go to a guy that knows all these things, fights,
NFL everything. One of my pals lights out. Let's give
it up for Sean Merriman. What's up Sean?

Speaker 4 (26:07):
Yo?

Speaker 3 (26:07):
What's up on man?

Speaker 1 (26:08):
How you doing?

Speaker 5 (26:09):
Good?

Speaker 3 (26:09):
Man?

Speaker 2 (26:09):
You know I'm bumming you're out here, and I'm bumming
Cavino's not here because I know you guys. Always he
always gets the yips when he tries to give you
a bro hug and a handshake.

Speaker 5 (26:17):
We finally got it right, man, after all these years,
we finally connected on something nice.

Speaker 2 (26:21):
Well at Sean Meryman can always catch up with all
the cool things he's doing. But I got to ask
right out the Gate, your guy lights out, you know, fights,
you know NFL.

Speaker 1 (26:29):
What's your initial take on this? Tom Brady, Logan, Paul Beef.

Speaker 5 (26:34):
Look, I just think it's great promotion for them, right
with the flag football game that got going people talking
about it. I mean, when you're trying to promote something,
it doesn't matter what you think or if you think
it's silly or not. If people talking about it, then
that's good promotion. And people are now I think it's
in my opinion, it crossed the line a little bit
when they started to talking about fighting, which Logan now

(26:56):
is talking about all NFL players. Look, if you want to,
if you want to challenge Top Brady and tell him
you'll knock his head off, no problem, Right, great promotion,
but now you're getting into an area where there's real danger, right,
And I want to take I don't want to take
anything away from Logan because I think he's done a
hell of a job in WW he is. He is

(27:17):
much more of an athlete that people give him credit for.
But you're talking about like professional athletes who do things
to other people for a living.

Speaker 2 (27:26):
Yeah, So you know, my first thought is when when
I think of a Miles Garrett or a Bosup brother,
or you know some big dude like a like a
Crosby could lookan Paul like I can't imagine no matter
how skilledy is boxing, I feel like all those guys
would whoop his ass.

Speaker 1 (27:42):
Am I wrong.

Speaker 5 (27:43):
Look, I'm not going to say this because I've been
I've been around this sport, and I've been around some
of the best and train and sparred some of the
best fighters in the world. You don't just walk off
field to just become a big, a good boxer because
you're stronger. Those muscles and things do not translate into
into boxing or fighting in general. It don't. But that

(28:03):
being said, Logan didn't knock out Floyd Mayweather, who's one
hundred and sixty pounds, right, and so if you can't
knock out Floyd Mayweather, you're probably not going to knock
out a guy that's two hundred and fifty pounds of
all muscle. I just don't see it. And that, don't
get me wrong with Floyd's is the greatest of all
time of one of But again, you didn't knock him out,
and so I think that's that's where that's where you

(28:24):
kind of got to draw the line. If you can't
knock him out, how are going to knock out a
guy like.

Speaker 2 (28:27):
Miles Garrett Sean Merriman here on Coveno on rich At
Sean Merriman lights out. You know every time I see
you and I go in to give you a little
handshake of a hug. You're built like a rock and
I know you're you spar your fight.

Speaker 1 (28:39):
Guy. What's your thoughts? Can you do you think you
could take out Logan Paul?

Speaker 5 (28:43):
First of all, I don't. I don't hit children. That's
one you should know.

Speaker 1 (28:50):
I would.

Speaker 5 (28:51):
I think I'm taking myself out of the mix because one,
I'm forty one and I actually have years of experience
in training and being in there, not saying that I'm
a fighter at all, but I've been in there with
like some real real dogs. So I want to take
myself off. Plus, I don't think that Logan would even
think about going down that pass. I think that better.
I think the better fight would be Le'Veon. I think
that Le'Veon has been training. He is a he is

(29:15):
a notable NFL player, He has a good background. He
has a big fan based, big follow on social media.
It makes sense, It makes sense for for Le'Veon to
do the deal. But I don't. I just I see
the roadblocks that Logan is putting up now right practice
million dollars in the scrow, and it got to be
this way, And no judge, I might just say you
don't want to do it, right, I can say you
don't want to do it.

Speaker 2 (29:35):
So that's what I see now when you take out
tackling and you know what, all the toughness that goes
into playing NFL football and you make it flag football,
which is more maybe skill based, when you take out,
like I said, a lot of layers of the game.
Could Logan Paul compete in flag football from what you've seen?
You think, is it gonna be a different game? Are
we going to be shocked at who's good at it?

Speaker 3 (29:55):
No?

Speaker 5 (29:55):
I think that. I think that Logan is a great athlete.
I think he's gonna look good on the football field.
But so well a lot of people. When you don't
get hit, right, That's why I don't pay attention too much.
Like you know, when when the OTA is starting football
and minie camp and they run around and hell mess
and jerseys. Everybody look good. You got your your sleeves
rolled up and all you on your biceps. You guys
are running around there fast, and then you put the

(30:17):
pads on, and then then those strong guys go away. Now,
so you know, and and and that's what I think
Logan's gonna do. He's gonna look great. I'm sure he
is an athlete. He's gonna have some fun out there,
but he would never dare step on a football field,
not if he value his life.

Speaker 2 (30:32):
Yeah, let me ask you, Sean Merriman here on cn
R NFL off season. I know you're going to keep
your ear to the fight game and the NFL. You're
involved in everything. Any intriguing stories?

Speaker 3 (30:42):
What what? What? Uh?

Speaker 2 (30:43):
What gets you interested? What what happens with Fernando men those?
Are you curious? What happens with Stefan Diggs or Kyler Murray?

Speaker 3 (30:49):
Like?

Speaker 1 (30:49):
What are you thinking?

Speaker 5 (30:51):
Yeah? I mean, you know, for one, Stephan, I think
it was time right And I think I think he
did himself justice because you know, obviously star as a
former forma terp like myself. I think Steph did himself
adjustice this year by stepping up as a leader, more
mature answering the media. I think he did himself a
huge favor and he's going to have another opportunity somewhere else.

(31:14):
Kyler Murray Man, I wasn't I wasn't shocked at all.
In fact, I thought it was they took too long
to move on from him. To be honest, I thought
that was gonna happen at least a year ago, maybe
maybe two, you know, when when all the news came
out about him, you know, not really being locked into
playing football. I thought that when that happened. Typically, you
guys know, when you start hearing rumblings, it's coming from

(31:36):
somewhere in the organization, somewhere in the front office that's there.
That's their message to tell you that you're on the
way out the door. So they started playing these little
things that you know, you don't care much about football
and you're not a great leader. Those things happen when
a guy is on the way out the door. So
I thought it was gonna happen two years ago.

Speaker 2 (31:53):
Sean, would you be shocked if Kyler Murray out of
nowhere was like, I'm going to go try baseball, because
if you remember, he had that option.

Speaker 5 (32:00):
I think more shocked because he's making so much money
in football and I don't think he's gonna I don't
think he can make that same amount of money in baseball.
Do I think he can play it still? Absolutely, he
can make a team, but the money is not going
to be there, so it'd be hard to take a
pay cut where you know another big payd a is
coming right in the corner.

Speaker 2 (32:19):
Sean, I know again, fight game football, This guy, you know,
with Cavino and Rich, big fans of shown Maryman. He
knows it all and some of these gimmicky fights that
are coming up. What do you think about Tyson sparring
Floyd Mayweather Junior?

Speaker 1 (32:31):
Is as is that?

Speaker 2 (32:32):
Are we gonna see anything? Or is that just gonna
be too you know, legends playing patty Cake.

Speaker 5 (32:36):
I said ten years ago, I will watch Tyson's fight
until he's sixty.

Speaker 1 (32:40):
I would I watched I'm so intriguing to me, se right.

Speaker 5 (32:45):
And I said, and he guess what, He's approached his sixty,
So this will be his last fight that I'm gonna
watch Mike Tyson ever period. But but but I'll say
I'll say this, I think people need to separate entertainment
and fighting, right, and if if there's something on Netflix
and we all have subscribers to anyway, if it's something
is accessible and then not it's not a big pay

(33:06):
per view model. People are gonna watch, you know, every
every fight people say I'm not I'm not gonna watch
Jake Paul and it's it's it takes as this is
not good and then what happens over fifty million people
wants to fight. Yeah, And so with that being said,
man is people just need to separate entertainment and fighting.
And most people will pay for entertainment.

Speaker 4 (33:25):
That's just what it is.

Speaker 2 (33:27):
One last question. We'll let you get on with your weekend.
Hopefully you have a good weekend plan. Sean, If if
Logan Paul did say yo, Sean Merriman, you're a bee
and he calls you out or something like that, would
you would you accept?

Speaker 5 (33:39):
I would have laughed because I know it's a joke.
I mean, I honestly would. I wouldn't take it seriously
and I'll just take that he's you know, maybe once
more subscribers on a podcast or you know, I wouldn't
take it serious because that's not what he wants. But
if I definitely think that, I think the le'veyon he
should take that fight with leveyon I think that would
be a great fight.

Speaker 1 (33:59):
Nice well, listen in, have good weekend. Thanks for the time.
Shawn Merriman on Cavino and Rich and coming.

Speaker 2 (34:04):

(35:44):
if this isn't bringing the excitement, I don't know what is.
Oh Tani, lighten up the WBC with a grand salami.

Speaker 1 (35:51):
That's you want now? Oh tonys it up.

Speaker 5 (35:55):
It is co.

Speaker 1 (36:01):
Olny too, his own dial man. What a great call.

Speaker 2 (36:12):

Speaker 1 (36:34):
Buying should be. And between that, Otani grand Slam and
Juan Soto playing like the Mets are hoping he plays
in a month from now, the World Baseball Classic is
just showing you how fun baseball baseball could be. And
it makes me wonder we like lame fans here in
the US. I know it's the World Baseball Classic, but
when you watch again the fans in the UH, is

(36:57):
that the Tokyo dum Yes, sir fans in the Dominican Republic.
I mean, we need to bring it a little more.
Team USA USA.

Speaker 2 (37:06):
When we're a Dodgers game, in Mets game, any game,
Yankees game, can we bring it dB? I know, I
know it's like a casual wins that you might be
at at the stadium, but it makes me think.

Speaker 8 (37:16):
That maybe the finals should be played in Japan, right,
because they're the three time winners, right, they've they've won
the event more than anybody. But it's never gonna happen.
Major League Baseball would never allow that to happen. But
to see that scene, at least to have the sounds
of it, was pretty amazing.

Speaker 2 (37:31):
Well, Aaron Judge has to deliver the same way Juan
Soto's delivering and the same way that Otani delivering her
Grand Slam. And I'll be honest, like Otani other than
that little misstep with his interpreter, some say take in
the fall no other than his little misstep, other than
the little misstep of the interpreter and the gambling, Like,

(37:53):
has Odani done anything wrong? The guy's winning MVPs, he's
winning back to back World Series now show Tony has
just been.

Speaker 8 (38:02):
Great for baseball, the show of respect with always the
tip of the cap. I love the nod or to
the opposing skipper. I think it was I think it
was Stephen Vote of the Guardians, who like wasn't paying
attention at one time and ye.

Speaker 4 (38:17):
Forgot.

Speaker 1 (38:18):
He's great. He's just so good for baseball.

Speaker 2 (38:20):
But if you're not watching the Baseball Classic World Baseball
Classic tonight.

Speaker 1 (38:24):
I don't know what else is on, Danny G.

Speaker 2 (38:26):
I know we're gonna go over weekend hobnob and what
to watch? But what what would you rather have on
in the background? Eight pm Eastern Team USA? So right
after we get out of here, go home throwing the
WBC of United States versus Brazil.

Speaker 4 (38:40):
It's all about Team USA tonight.

Speaker 2 (38:43):
Tam USA's roster is fantastic and school ball schemes McClain
and uh, who's pitched like.

Speaker 4 (38:50):
An All Star game?

Speaker 1 (38:52):
Was pitching tonight?

Speaker 5 (38:52):
Again?

Speaker 1 (38:52):
Who's on the hill?

Speaker 2 (38:54):
I think you said it before or logan web logan
web logan web so he'll he'll get the than nod tonight.
But WBC gets me pumped up. And I just wonder
if I made the analogy the other day that it's
sort of like a little appetizer to the regular baseball season.
I hope this isn't when you get a good appetizer
and then the entree stinks because baseball starts in a month.

(39:17):
And if you could carry over this excitement, I think baseball.
Baseball's hot right now, and we know what's going to
happen after the season. Players, union, owners, everything, you might
have a little hiccup with baseball. So baseball Baseball is
one year now to really bring it to and hope
that nothing stops it.

Speaker 8 (39:34):
There's I think there's recently been a trend and I
think people have realized it that not everything is for them.
That okay, I understand that this is being brought to
a different audience.

Speaker 4 (39:45):
Maybe it's not for me. Maybe most recently the Bad
Money halftime Show.

Speaker 5 (39:49):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (39:49):
Now, the World Baseball Classic is another situation where it's
not that it's not for them. I think it's in
another category where you know, it doesn't have to be
the greatest thing ever, but if it's entertaining, what's the
harm in it? If it gets you interested in baseball,
if it gets you to sit on the couch to
watch a game and to see all of your favorite

(40:10):
players happen to be maybe on one team or at
least a bunch of them, Like there's there's good and
like not everything has to be the best of the
best to be able to tune in for something. And
I think that this is a good good. You know,
it's a it's a really good event that gets you excited.
There is excitement with it and it's not a foregone
conclusion that the United States is gonna win, So that

(40:30):
even adds it, kind of like we saw with the
men's hockey team, It even adds more excitement to it.

Speaker 1 (40:34):
I'm glad you brought that up.

Speaker 2 (40:36):
Kevino and I often talk about when we were growing
up in the eighties or nineties, there was something called monoculture.
We've mentioned this before, the monoculture meaning we all know
the same things the same reason. We all know the
same episodes of different strokes or growing pains or oh,
every Saturday morning, you know you watch Saved by the
Bell and then wrestling and then American Gladiators, and you

(40:56):
know your mom made pancakes Sunday morning and you went
to a little league practice.

Speaker 1 (41:00):
We were all doing relatively the same thing.

Speaker 2 (41:03):
Now, with social media and a million things streaming and
every network's got a streamer, we're all sort of watching
different things. So when something breaks through and it is monoculture,
