Speaker 2 (00:26):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (00:30):
Oh what is going on? Happy? This saw is confusing.
Happy evening to you. You know I always get on
the West coast, it's still Monday night. On the East,
it's Tuesday morning. I'm sorry I make it way too complicated.
Just this good evening, all right, Hope, everything's going great
for you. We got a lot to get to. NBA
(00:50):
free agency is just off the rails right now, craziness
going on. We will get to all the good. But
here's the deal. We know what butters the bread. In
the sports world. We are collective ball aholics. Okay, we
are ball junkies. And what does ball mean? Ball of
(01:13):
course means football. Okay, let me start with football over here.
Because there was a notable trade involving cornerback Jalen Ramsey
so he is on the move. He is going to
the Pittsburgh Steelers. And unfortunately, my Dolphins are just like
the feeder school, you know in high school, how you
might have like the junior high. He's like the feeder
(01:37):
school to the high school. That type of thing. Feels
like the Dolphins are the feeder school for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Here.
So there was a tweet from Adam Schefter which just
kind of shows you exactly where the Dolphins ranking the
pecking order.
Speaker 4 (01:50):
Here.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
Here's what it said. According to ESPN sources, the Miami
Dolphins have agreed to trade three time All Pro cornerback
Jalen Ramsey to the Pittsburgh Steelers. As a part of
the trade, Ramsey will get a one point five million
dollar raise this season, bringing his twenty twenty five compensation
up to twenty six point six million dollars. Steelers get
(02:11):
their man and Ramsey gets another raise. No mention of
the Dolphins, no mention, what did they get in this trade? Schefty?
What did my fins get? Dude?
Speaker 2 (02:21):
What?
Speaker 3 (02:22):
Nothing? They just got a couple of footballs and called
it good. It turns out the Dolphins sent more players
to the Steelers. So the Steelers. They acquired cornerback Jalen
Ramsey tight end John new Smith. They also get a
twenty twenty seven seventh round pick and exchange the Dolphins
(02:43):
they get safety Minka Fitzpatrick and a twenty twenty seven
fifth rounder. That would be advantage Steelers on that one. Now,
Minka Fitzpatrick is a baller. I love Minka Fitzpatrick. Dolphins
originally drafted him. So he's going back to the Aquaan Orange.
That's good. Good get Now. I'm not gonna talk trash
about Minca. Love Minca, but man, the only Pro bowler
(03:07):
the Dolphins had last season has been traded. That would
be John new Smith, the tight end ghost of the Steelers.
And this is a dose of reality for any Dolphins
fan who happens to be listening right now. So last season,
John news Smith, he had a great year for the Finns.
Eighty eight catches for eight hundred and eighty four yards
(03:28):
and eight touchdowns for a tight end, those are big numbers.
He had a great season in Miami. Now, now that
he's gone, the tight end with the most experience on
the Dolphins roster that would be Faraoh Brown. So listen
to his numbers. So I just told you John new
Smith last season eighty eight catches, eight eighty four and
(03:50):
eight touchdowns. Right faroh Brown, his numbers look like this,
seventy two catches for seven hundred and fifty one yards
and touchdown craps. Now, that would be a pretty good season.
This was a pretty good season for a tight end
right there. Those are faroll Brown's numbers in eighty seven
(04:10):
career games. His numbers in eighty seven career games are
lower across the board than what John hu Smith did
last season. That's how greatly the Dolphins have regressed at
the tight end position right out. Now, I won't make
this all about the Fins, but while we're talking about
(04:31):
I've finished the point. We'll get to the Steelers, who
really matter in this whole equation here. But Miami's interested
in Raiders tight end Michael Mayer, who is a good player,
hasn't put up huge numbers. Raiders drafted Brock Bauers last season.
He was unbelievable. So Michael Mayer, he's the forgotten tight end.
You know, he'd probably be on the trading block. So
(04:52):
maybe the Dolphins get him. Possibly, they're seemingly reaching out
to all NFL teams. You got a tight end, You
got a tight end that's on the block. Can we
trade for a tight end that has a name that
people might recognize? Can we do that? So the Steelers
right now, they've got a pretty good roster. You look
at what they have top to bottom, it's pretty good.
(05:13):
Made some notable additions. Of course, you know the major
suspects over here on offense, Aaron Rodgers, DK metcalf. They
just traded for John new Smith. When you compare John
new Smith with Pat Fryermuth, you got mooth. You got
John new Smith, pro bowler, friar Mouth who's a baller,
(05:34):
and then you drafted Caleb Johnson, he's the running back
and replace Najee Harris. You got something working there that's
not the worst offense on paper in the NFL by far.
You've got something to work with there. A lot of
it obviously ties to how healthy is Aaron Rodgers last year,
(05:55):
he's battling oldness. I would say he's battling age injuries.
He had a hammy, had a knee, had an ankle,
all kinds of stuff he was working through and he's
he's not the same athlete that he once was. He's
not moving outside the pocket regularly, which made him special
throwing off platform that's not part of his game anymore.
(06:16):
So his game he's not as good as he once was,
that's obvious. How good is he in the AFC North,
in the AFC collectively, time will tell, but a lot
of it traces back to his health, and you can't
expect Rogers to be, you know, like the epitome of
great health now that he's over forty. Here defensively, you
(06:38):
add Jalen Ramsey. He goes along with Joey Porter junior,
pretty good cornerback. And the Steelers picked up Darius big
Play Sleigh. They got their hands on big Play Sleigh
came over from the Eagles, banged up quite a bit recently,
but went healthy. Still a good player, and just like
(06:58):
typical Steelers fashion. You know, if you look at a
couple of their defensive draft picks, Derek Harmon, he was
the twenty second overall pick, their first rounder defensive end,
you know, basically a defensive lineman in that three to
four defense, right But the way the Steelers are, it's
probably gonna be the next Cam Hayward for the next
decade plus. You know, it's gonna be steff on to it.
(07:20):
At worst. For the Steelers, they're gonna just fine, guys.
You know, when they drafted Jack Sawyer from Ohio State,
fourth round pick, don't be surprised if he makes an impact.
So on paper, the Steelers have a pretty decent roster.
I know they seem to just be completely dismissed. I'm
not making making my case for a Steelers. They're legit
(07:43):
Super Bowl contenders. I'm not saying that. I'm just saying
there's a tendency to just shrug your shoulders and say, yeah,
they'll be nine to eight and they'll lose their playoff
game and that's it. And that might be the case,
but let's not confuse that with the ceiling, you know
what I mean, Like that that might be the reality,
(08:04):
that might be realistically how it plays out, but that's
not the ceiling for the roster. You know, the ceiling
for the roster is a decent playoff run. It's a
ten ish win team that wins a game or two
in the playoffs. That's probably the ceiling, which isn't worlds
(08:26):
better than nine to eight first round exit, but it's
it's better, like it's a higher ceiling if things go
as well as they can. Now, the thing that I
think with Rogers here, and this is basically what I
was talking about a second ago. Just open up your
mind to the possibility, even if you think it's remote,
(08:50):
even if you think it's far fetched, open up your
mind to the possibility that Rogers wins big this season.
Can you imagine how annoying he'll be if that happens. Now,
Like I said, I don't think that's going to happen
for the Steelers. I don't think they're gonna have a
great season and make it to the AFC Title Game
(09:13):
or mess around and make it to a Super Bowl.
I don't see that happening. But I would acknowledge that
crazier things have happened in NFL history. It's a pretty
good roster, you know. So if everything goes as well
as it can and they win big, Rogers will be
peak annoying. I went in the hot tub time machine
(09:34):
today and I was like, what did Rogers say a
few years ago? And I finally found the audio. So
this was at the tail end of the twenty twenty
two season. Okay, the Packers were four and eight, and
then they rattled off four straight wins, okay, and Rogers
is basically like, what now, what do you have to
(09:54):
say now, critics? Now that we're eight and eight? Here's
Rogers Once they got to eight eight in the twenty
two season.
Speaker 5 (10:01):
You know, we've all seen some of the commentary outside
as we went from four in eight to five and
eight to six and eight, and nobody's worried about the
Packers and blah blah blah blah blah. Now what are
you gonna say?
Speaker 3 (10:15):
So my thought is if Rogers is basically saying, hey,
what now, critics, what do you have to say now? Huh?
When they're eight and eight, what do you think he's
gonna say? If the Steelers win big this season? He
would be he would be obnoxious if that happens. By
the way, when the Packers got to eight and eight,
(10:38):
the next week they lost to the Lions in green Bay.
They finished the season eight and nine. They missed the playoffs,
and that was the final game Rogers played for green Bay.
Just all that they went from what now, critics to
an avalanche of every worst case scenario just played out
for green Bay. But I started thinking about that, and
(11:01):
you're welcome to participate and help this list grow. But
I was thinking about which athletes would be all time
annoying if they want a championship or in some cases
won another championship, right, Like, who would you be? Like,
oh man, I can't believe this player just wanted all.
(11:25):
This is gonna be nauseating for months, maybe years now.
Who would be on that list? Number one on the
list has to be by far, It's got to be Lebron.
Can you imagine Lebron winning a fifth championship? Just close
your eyes, imagine the Lakers winning a championship. Wasn't okac.
(11:45):
The Lakers just steam rolled through the playoffs. They won
another ring Lebron like this was This was Lebron after
the three to one comeback against Golden State. This was
on more than an athlete. This is what he had
to say after that.
Speaker 6 (12:00):
I was a super super ecstatic the win went for
Cleveland because of the fifty two year drought, Like I
was ecstatic, Like obviously I showed that. The first wave
of emotion was when y'all everyone saw me crying like
that was all for fifty two years, everything the sports
are gone on to Cleveland, and then after I stopped,
I was like that one right there made you the
greatest player of all time.
Speaker 3 (12:21):
Okay, So as Lebron after the three to one comeback
against the Warriors, you know, you can't really give yourself
a nickname that it seldomly works. You can't give yourself
like goat status. You can't like knight yourself. Have you
ever you ever see how someone gets knighted? You know,
(12:42):
they touch each shoulder. Have you ever seen someone knight themselves? No,
it doesn't work. You can't knight yourself the goat, which
is what he tried to do right there. So the
point is if he won another ring, it would be
peak nauseating. Who else would be on the list athletes
that would be all annoying if they won a championship?
You know who would be on that list a few
(13:04):
years ago, I don't feel as much now. But Baker
Mayfield in his Cleveland Brown days, he was on a man.
He was just on one, raging against all critics far
and wide. You know, anyone who had anything even slightly
critical to say about Baker Mayfield, he just had a
(13:27):
boulder on his shoulder. He didn't have a chip on
his shoulder. So if Baker Mayfield somehow messed around and
won a title in Cleveland when he was still there
at that time, he would have been peak annoying. I
don't feel that way as much anymore. Right now, he's
still a little feisty with the critics, but it lands differently.
I think he's matured, you know, I don't think that
(13:49):
he takes every little slight. He reminds me of the
guy in the bar. You might have been this guy
when you were younger, you know, I was this guy
you want to go he got a problem with it.
It's just that guy that's just ready to fight because
someone yawned, and it's like, what did that yawn?
Speaker 7 (14:05):
Me?
Speaker 3 (14:05):
What were you ready? You would go like that was
Baker Mayfield earlier in his career. I don't think he's
that same guy anymore. Who else would be on the
list of athletes all time annoying if they want it all?
Aaron Rodgers of course would be on this list. If
he won his second ring and won it all in Pittsburgh,
he would be peak annoying. And the last one that
(14:27):
I have on my list right now, and this is
a growing list, I would put Angel Reese there. If
Angel Reese won a WNBA title, she would be peak annoying.
There is zero doubt about that. And what I mean
by that is just throwing it in your face, just
like want to ring what now critics. There'd be a
new TikTok video every hour for the next year. If
(14:50):
she wanted all that would be on my list. Feel
free to share yours at the No show is where
you can find me on x if you have any
entrees on the list the growing list of athletes that
would be all time annoying if they want it all
interested to hear about that. Eight seven seven ninety nine

with that legendary group. Lorena just watched a documentary on them,
so she named multiple hit songs.
Speaker 8 (16:44):
Well, I sang a couple very nicely, I might add,
you know, thank you.
Speaker 3 (16:52):
You're wasting your time. You should be on a stage somewhere.

Yeah to go to all Right, we're gonna get to
that here in a little bit. But I'll tell you
what the mal or militia is down to party tonight. Apparently,
you know, last time I filled in, it was what
a couple of weeks ago, roughly, Yeah, the militia was like,
Ben's out f this, We're out of here, Brian, no thanks,
(17:22):
I'm out, don't want any piece of this. But the
militia is like, yeah, let's hang out, let's hang out.
We're we're having some fun on a Monday evening, late
night hours. Welcome.
Speaker 9 (17:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (17:32):
So I said, if the militia's here, we'll roll out
the red carper go right to you. So we'll line
him up, knock him down. We got Ron in Rochester
up first, what's going on? Ron, You're on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 4 (17:43):
New York. Hey, I gotta be honest. I thought i'd
sell you what Ben Mallick, but I called that's all right.
But so I am Ron from Rochester's man he did
sports radio. I'm a Steelers fan and my parents my
mother was born in Pittsburgh. They both went to high
school in Erie, Pennsylvania. My cousin is Fred Belitanikoff also
(18:03):
grew up in Eary, Pennsylvania. And so at first on
the trade they were they were not saying it was
good trade, Guardiano, everybody on the when they first came out,
they would not say, and it.
Speaker 3 (18:13):
Was a good trade I mean for the Steelers.
Speaker 4 (18:16):
No, they Guardiana was saying Fitzpans is the best player
in that whole peal.
Speaker 3 (18:21):
And I don't know, Uh, it might be, it might
be right about that because Minka it's a baller. But
I mean collectively you get Jalen, Ramsey and John that's
pretty good.
Speaker 4 (18:32):
Webeck position is more important anyway. Yeah, do you want
to hear my Franco Harristory. So I lived in New
York City after graduating with Syracuse, and I was working well,
I was working for an advertising agency. That's how I
stayed sports radio. But I was in the Sheridan Hotel
and I could spot a star a mile away, and
I think Franco harris by himself walking towards me. I'm like, hey, man,
(18:54):
you were on my wall growing up. He's like, why
did you take me down? I'm like, I went to
college my mother did. And he was the coolest guy ever.
Speaker 3 (19:01):
That's cool, man. I like the balls. That was good.
Speaker 4 (19:05):
Yeah. Do you want to hear how I saved sports radio?
So I graduated in Syracuse. I wasn't even an advertising guy.
I was an economics major. But my family was in
the business. So I was a media planner and I
was working on the McDonald's New York account and it
was all women, all women in me. And we had
bought McDonald's for WFN in nineteen eighty eight or whatever,
(19:27):
and we were about to dump it, and I was
the only one that stood up for it. And I
can't wait to run in the Mad Dog and tell
them his whole career to me because I said, let's
do it. It's because sports radio. It's gonna be huge.
That's buy it. And you know the rest is history.
I saved sports radio.
Speaker 3 (19:42):
What do you think Ben Mahler would be doing right
now had you not saved sports radio?
Speaker 4 (19:47):
You know what I talked about that the last time.
That's how I've been to hopefully remember.
Speaker 2 (19:52):
No.
Speaker 3 (19:53):
Well, I don't know what just said to Ben. You know,
I'm just curious what his occupation would be if there
were no hell.
Speaker 4 (19:58):
Oh he'd be he'd be a bike salesman.
Speaker 3 (20:02):
Bike No.
Speaker 10 (20:03):
I think he'd be making pizzas.
Speaker 4 (20:05):
Yeah, oh yeah, but he'd be like a fed bike
That's the crazy part about it. He's working at a
bike shop, but he'd be set. It's like, how are
you going to buy a bike from this guy?
Speaker 6 (20:14):
All right?
Speaker 3 (20:15):
Good stuff? Rod Alaya man, fun stuff, appreciate you check
it in, so you go. Would you say Loraina a
pizza pizza guy?
Speaker 2 (20:23):
Yeah?
Speaker 8 (20:23):
I think he would be a pizza guy. He loves
to make pizzas at home.
Speaker 3 (20:28):
He likes to make likes bake baker. Okay, could he
he could deliver his product on bike? You know we
can mesh the two right there with Ron his suggestion.
We got trucker nav he's in Tennessee. What's going on?
Truck or navy?
Speaker 8 (20:44):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (20:45):
I got two takes.
Speaker 11 (20:46):
One is about the Steelers.
Speaker 7 (20:48):
I think.
Speaker 11 (20:51):
Miami got the better deal of it, and another cornerback
is a more important position. But uh Fitzpatrick, as far
as I know, he's younger than uh Ramsey and Uh,
I think they got the better deal. And I think
the other part of that is they you know, one
of the free up some money so they can bring
(21:13):
back TJ. Watt, you know, and sign him.
Speaker 3 (21:17):
Yeah, yeah, I hear you. It's look, man, I think
that I'll put it this way. I think what I'm
doing because I'm a Dolphins fan, trucker nav and what
I'm doing is I'm lumping in this trade with all
of the other Dolphin departures, you know what I mean.
And so that's kind of clouding how I think about this,
Like Mika Fitzpatrick is the best player out of those three.
(21:40):
But if you're look, but if you're looking collectively, I mean, honestly,
which would you rather have? If you're the Steelers, would
you rather have Minka Fitzpatrick or would you rather trade
Minca and get a corner in Jalen Ramsey and then
get a tight end in John new Smith? You needed
another weapon on offense for Aaron Rogers. You know, you
(22:01):
you got rid of George Pickens, So I think the
trade is better collectively for the Steelers. And that's no
slight toward Minka. I think they're coming out.
Speaker 11 (22:09):
Ahead right right, Yeah, but he you know, none of
this is going to matter if if you can't protect Rogers, right,
I mean, we already saw what happened in New York
and last year. He looked like players that have had
that similar injury, whether it's Derek Carr or Dak Prescott,
(22:31):
you know.
Speaker 4 (22:31):
They always have that. You know that the cold feet
in the pocket if you will.
Speaker 11 (22:35):
You know, they're worried about getting hit, especially in the
you know, the lower extremities, and so if you can't
protect the quarterback, it's a no win situation.
Speaker 3 (22:46):
Yeah yeah, they yeah, they have to and he's got
to stay healthy. So those are big, two big ifs.
But appreciate you checking in man. Yeah. Wow, look at this.
I mean, I'll translate a couple of the calls. They're
basically saying, Finn's up, Let's get it right. That's what
I'm taking away from some of this. Mika Fitzpatrick is
(23:08):
a fantastic player, but I think that the Steelers are
better after this trade than they were before the trade.
I think it helps him out because you get a
defensive piece and Jalen Ramsey's no like scrub Jayleen Ramsey's
still playing at a high level. And then you get
a big time offensive weapon. And when you don't have
(23:30):
George Pickens, you've got DK and Mouth and that's it
basically in terms of weapons to throw to. So you
add to that. I like the deal for the Steelers.
I think they're better now than they were before it.
That's just me, though. We got Emmett, my guy, Emmett
in Washington checking in. What's going on?
Speaker 1 (23:49):
Emmett?
Speaker 9 (23:50):
Brian, No, how are we doing tonight?
Speaker 3 (23:52):
Good buddy, how are you?
Speaker 9 (23:53):
I'm doing good. Just I want to give you a
couple of athletes here that would be super annoying to
see them win a ch I all right, the first one.
I might have missed it because I called in and
turned my radio off, so I don't know if you
mentioned this, but Deshaun Watson, I'd hate for that guy
to win a chip. And then the bias in me
like just just me being a hater and sorry Lorena,
(24:15):
but Dak Prescott, I hate to see that.
Speaker 8 (24:18):
You know, if he'd win, then I'd be like, oh
my god, I can't believe you'd say that, But he hasn't,
So go ahead.
Speaker 9 (24:24):
Yeah. You know, I was hoping that you'd have hope
as a Cowboys fan, but I mean, at least you're
real about.
Speaker 3 (24:28):
It has sailed.
Speaker 4 (24:31):
Yeah, So I want.
Speaker 9 (24:32):
To talk about this trade though, Brian, and we're going
to go three for three with the first three callers
of the show.
Speaker 5 (24:37):
Wow in here.
Speaker 4 (24:38):
I think that the.
Speaker 9 (24:40):
Dolphins you picked up a great safety and VJ. Husky,
who's also a Dolphins fan, tweeted this earlier. He was
also really excited about the trade, saying that, you know,
you fix a safety position that you guys really needed
help with. And the Steelers, when you think about how
they did this and maybe why they did this, A
couple theories come to my mind, and the main one
and it still doesn't makes sense because I still question it.
(25:01):
I kind of understand going out and getting John new Smith.
I think that a second tight end. I mean, we
talked about this when you're on my show, Brian, how
I didn't really think it what makes sense. I'd rather
go and get a lineman or a receiver. But I
think that the one reason, in my opinion, that the
Pittsburgh Steelers are doing all this is they're going to
have to pay Minka Fitzpatrick another long term deal, and
(25:23):
that could be next year if he balls out, or
that could be two years from now before it's contract expires,
and they're already on the verge of paying TJ.
Speaker 4 (25:30):
Watt.
Speaker 9 (25:30):
They said that they want him to retire as a Steeler,
so they want don't want to commit that much money
to where Jalen Ramsey. You can play him for this
year and then maybe flip that contract and even if
you have to eat it for the other season, it's
two years and you don't have to resign him. He's
going to be thirty two years old. I don't think
that he can get a MAX contract at that point
in time, and Minka, he deserves another one. He's only
making fifteen million this year and seventeen million the year
(25:53):
after that, which is crazy. Yeah, he's probably going to
double if he balls out.
Speaker 3 (25:57):
Yeah, it is so perfect. It gets me thinking about
just the Steelers and thanks for checking in man, good
to hear from you, Emmett and Olympia. But it gets
me thinking the Steelers and Jeff Schwartz, you know, we
do a show on Saturdays on Fox Sports Radio Saturday
Mornings Countdown, and Jeff made this point where, now this
(26:18):
was before the trade that we're talking about now, but
it was when they got Aaron Rodgers, and he's like,
it doesn't really help them a lot. It really just
pushes them toward the outskirts of the middle, you know,
like that's one of the worst places you can be,
is in the middle. The Steelers probably aren't gonna be
good enough to you know, make it to Championship Sunday,
(26:40):
be one of the final four teams challenged to get
to the Super Bowl. They're probably gonna be that good,
and they're not gonna be bad enough to be picking
at the top of the draft. So they get Rogers
most likely for a year as a band aid quarterback,
and really it's gonna get them a lower draft pick
and probably in the nine and eight, ten and seven range. Right.
(27:02):
So it's weird where the Steelers, on one hand, I
commend them for doing as much as they can for
the twenty five season to win. Half of me does
commend them for that, but the other part of me
is like this doesn't help you get better for the
future at the quarterback position, which they have to do.
(27:24):
Look at that division, just that division alone, when you
look at the Ravens having Lamar, the Bengals having Burrow,
and then you expand it to the AFC with Josh
Allen and then Mahomes and then there's Herbert and then
there's this guy, and then it's like, you gotta have
a QB in your division and that conference, and they're
(27:44):
just gonna have a lower pick, most likely without the
fruits of hey, we made it to Championship Sunday, we
got to Super Bowl Sunday. We want it all. Like
without that, it's like, okay, you went from picking I
don't know, fifteenth overall to like twenty third overall. It's
like it doesn't and this is a quarterback rich draft.
(28:09):
So it's just really not in the Steelers' DNA to
be like, you know what, let's kind of punt on
the twenty five season. Let's just roll out there, Mason
Rudolph and take our lumps and we're gonna go like
six and eleven something like that, and we'll have a
better pick and hopefully get our quarterback in the future
(28:30):
and then we'll be set for the next decade. That's
really not in their DNA. I can't totally fault them
for that. I like that. They're like it's like a
reflection of the city. You know. They're like, let's roll
up our sleeves and just make do, and let's let's
get after the twenty five season, make these trades and
sign Aaron Rodgers and have of me likes that, But
(28:51):
the other half there's a downside where you're just gonna
be picking lower in the first round without picking thirty second,
you know what I mean as Super Bowl champions. So
they're in a weird spot where they're they're in the middle.
They're like in the upper middle class. Now I think,
you know, there's somewhere in the middle middle class to
the upper middle class depending on how the season plays out.
(29:15):
But it doesn't help them for twenty six and beyond,
you know, So there's that side of it. It's just
something to consider. They We've got E Dog in New
York up next. What's going on? E Dog?
Speaker 7 (29:26):
How you doing good?
Speaker 3 (29:28):
Buddy?
Speaker 7 (29:28):
That's good. I want to make a comment. My dad
came to visit me recently. Okay, uh, huh. And we
went to the bank and he said to the tell
I want to give a gift to my son. And
there was a woman to the left, a lady. Well,
I'm looking wady too left that I was looking at
her and guess what my dad did?
Speaker 3 (29:46):
What do you do?
Speaker 7 (29:48):
He shared to me. And he said, and he shook
his head.
Speaker 3 (29:50):
No, so what what what happened here? E?
Speaker 9 (29:54):
Dog?
Speaker 3 (29:55):
I'm not following the story.
Speaker 7 (29:57):
Well, my dad's in charge of my money, so you know,
you know, want me looking at the girl when he's
giving me money?
Speaker 9 (30:03):
Uh?
Speaker 7 (30:04):
Anyway, I'm just good. I have a resentment against the
man dog though. He said to me one time he
doesn't like Ali. He doesn't want to hear what I
have to say.
Speaker 3 (30:15):
Why say that, dog? Why would he say that?
Speaker 7 (30:18):
That sounds unkind, very inconstitutional? And and I guess what
my friend Joe Dogg. Did you ever hear about him?
Speaker 3 (30:26):
No, I have a friend.
Speaker 7 (30:27):
They know Joe dogs He was Me and him used
to go three way calling to the three way calling
to the to the Ben Miller show. And he's called
this week because his wife is going on vacation. Now
real quick, listen to this, all right, I have a
(30:48):
Dolphins jersey. Now I want you to do you threat
the guests? What what team I have on the What
player I have on my team with his name?
Speaker 3 (30:58):
Think a guess of Brian Cox jersey dog?
Speaker 7 (31:02):
Definitely No, Definitely.
Speaker 8 (31:06):
A Dolphin player. Yes, well I only know one Dolphin
ahead Tyreek Hill.
Speaker 3 (31:14):
Nope, okay, it better not be him.
Speaker 10 (31:16):
Of course it is. He's one of my baby daddy.
Speaker 7 (31:19):
I'm fifty three years old, so it's a it's a
jersey from the past. Definitely.
Speaker 4 (31:26):
No.
Speaker 3 (31:29):
I'm gonna say, you, dog, I get an extra guest.
You your hardcore? You got a John Offer Doll jersey?
Is that what you have?
Speaker 9 (31:36):
Y dog?
Speaker 7 (31:37):
No, let me give you your hands. It starts with
an A eight.
Speaker 3 (31:44):
Starts with an A.
Speaker 7 (31:46):
No, it starts with an eight an eight?
Speaker 3 (31:48):
Oh okay, wow, I don't know. You got a Mark
Clayton jersey.
Speaker 2 (31:54):
You got it?
Speaker 10 (31:55):
There we go? Okay, turn gonna say.
Speaker 3 (32:00):
That, My god, very nice.
Speaker 7 (32:03):
So I gotta I got a bed jersey. Now take
a pick. Is it Peyton McMahon or.
Speaker 3 (32:08):
Perry It's Steve McMichael, It's Mongo that's what you have.
Definitely no, No, Now you gotta go. Refrigerator I feel like, uh.
Speaker 8 (32:21):
Ayton, yeah, yeah, you go, thank you.
Speaker 3 (32:28):
All right? He dog good stuff, Buddy, good stuff. We
appreciate the guessing game from e dog right there. You know,
here's one thing. Shout out to my guy Duke. He's
in upstate New York over there in Albany, New York.
He owns Duke's barbershop. But he told me this one time.
It got me thinking because of dog mentioning refrigerator Perry.
I thought he was crazy at the time, but over
(32:49):
the years, I'm like, you know what, that crazy Duke.
He's kind of onto something. He said, depending on your
body type as a fan, if you're gonna wear a jersey,
it has to be an athlete that has a comparable
body type to your own. Where he's like, he's like,
look like for me, I'm five eleven, one sixty five.
(33:12):
So according to Duke, he's like, you can't rock a
refrigerator Parry jersey. It just doesn't look right. It doesn't
look right at all for you to wear that guy's jersey.
And I'm like, what are you talking about, Duke, And
right after he said that, I was on my way.
I went to a random Cleveland Browns game and some
fan was wearing some jersey and he must have been
(33:34):
much smaller than the jersey. He was aware of the
guy that the jersey he was wearing. And I'm like, man,
Duke's kind of right. It does look weird. Do you
guys subscribe to this? You think Duke's out of his mind?
Speaker 10 (33:46):
I think that's wild. I think it's kind of true, though. No,
women could never wear jerseys.
Speaker 3 (33:52):
Well that's true, yeah, because.
Speaker 8 (33:53):
I'm obviously not the size of any of these players.
So with that common sense, that doesn't make any sense
of it.
Speaker 10 (34:00):
I'm trying to think of the jerseys I have.
Speaker 8 (34:01):
I have a Reggie Bush jersey, so I mean, and
I'm kind of short.
Speaker 3 (34:06):
Yeah, Like, you're not gonna be the same size, right, but.
Speaker 8 (34:10):
You're never going to be maybe a couple more fat
sou sandwiches.
Speaker 3 (34:13):
I don't think you need to be the same size,
you know, just like whatever the exchange rate is, you
know what I mean. Like, if you're okay, you're a girl,
you're a smaller girl and you're wearing like a Cooper
Cup jersey or something, you know what I mean, like
or an NFL quarterback, I don't think it's gonna look
weird at all.
Speaker 10 (34:32):
Justin Herbert, like Manzi has a Justin Herbert jersey.
Speaker 8 (34:34):
It's yeah, that's like the same idea if I buy
a Travis Kelcey thing, I have to grow a beard
on my face.
Speaker 3 (34:41):
Like that sounds ridiculous, right, Yeah, Well that's just his theory.
I mean, you don't have to subscribe to it, you know.
But I thought it was out of his mind at first,
and after a little while, I'm like, eh, makes a
little bit more sense than I originally thought. I'll put
it that way, all right. We'll get to boys to
men next hour. Looking forward to that. Feel free to
keep calling in Melar Militia. It's good to interact with you, guys.
(35:04):
Love it. I live for it. Coming up next, in
honor of Big Ben, we'll do the who am I Game?
This current NFL quarterback is part of a w NBA
ownership group that's right for an expansion franchise. Who is
this guy? Who? Who am I? Game? Right around the corner,
(35:27):
I'm Brian no In for Big Ben Maler. Stay with
us right here on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (35:31):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Ben Maller
Show weekdays at two am Eastern eleven pm Pacific on
Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 3 (35:41):
I'm Brian no In for Big Ben Malor here on
Fox Sports Radio, and it's time for the tire Rack
play of the day. Swung on a drive, center field,
his belt back, he's at the track, he's looking up,
makes it jump, It's over his club.
Speaker 11 (35:55):
It is good.
Speaker 2 (35:57):
Joe Rolly has done it again.
Speaker 11 (36:00):
Another home run number thirty three is in the seats.
Speaker 3 (36:06):
Here you go, Mariners Radio Network on the call, cal
rally thirty three homers already by a catcher before the
All Star break. It's insanity. For over forty years, Tiraq
has been helping customers find the right tires for how,
what and where they drive, shipped fast and free, backed
by free road hazard protection with convenient installation options like
(36:27):
mobile tire installation tire rack dot Com. The way tire
buying should be. Okay, we get to the who am
I game? Right away? Man, all these features, you're really
in luck here tonight. Mallard Militia's beautiful. Okay, So who
in honor of Big Ben Mallor, you know he does
who am I Game? I right across this nugget and
(36:50):
thought of militia over here. You know, so we're looking
for a quarterback that is part of a w NBA
ownership group. Now this is for an expansion team. We're
looking for an expansion franchise over here, and this quarterback
is part of the investment group. He's part of ownership
(37:12):
over here. So we got a couple of guesses over here.
Let's see Andy, he guesses Joshua Dobbs. I like that.
I got to interview josh Dobbs way back when this
is right when he got before he got drafted. Incredibly
nice guy.
Speaker 8 (37:29):
Are you flexing on us right now?
Speaker 3 (37:31):
I don't mean to be. Do you think I am?
Speaker 2 (37:34):
Though?
Speaker 10 (37:34):
Lorena softbrag right there? Humble bragg.
Speaker 3 (37:39):
Well, I just made think of it. He was super nice,
very nice guy, Freddy says to Shaun Watson. Okay, let's see,
let's scroll down. Let's see any more guesses around here.
I gotta circle back to these tweets. We got some
One guy just wrote, Brian, you are Fidel Castro. Who
(38:03):
that's it? Okay. Big Lou checks in and says Lorena's
favorite jersey Tammy in Montana one, Oh.
Speaker 10 (38:12):
I love me a good Tammy. In Montana.
Speaker 3 (38:15):
That's right.
Speaker 10 (38:16):
I heard I owned lots of cows up in Montana.
Lots and lots and lots of cows.
Speaker 3 (38:21):
Mallard prop checks in and says E Fogg for the
who am I game? It would actually be the quarterback
who is part of a w NBA ownership group for
an expansion franchise. That would be Lions quarterback Jared Goff.
Who how about that?
Speaker 6 (38:41):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (38:41):
So, if you didn't see the news today, WNBA will
be expanding to eighteen teams over the next five years.
So Cleveland is going to have an expansion team in
twenty twenty eight. Oh yeah, then Detroit will be in
twenty nine. That's the franchise that Jared Goff is a
and he's part of the ownership group. And then in
(39:03):
twenty thirty they'll have one in Philadelphia. I'll just tell
you this. We're gonna have two more expansion teams in
the WNBA next year in twenty six they'll be in
Toronto and Portland. So we're gonna have five more teams
over the next five years.
Speaker 10 (39:19):
Do we have enough fans of WNBA for that?
Speaker 3 (39:23):
I don't know if we have enough players, you know,
any players? First and then the fans Lorena, you know where. Look,
I watched the WNBA a lot. That's it's probably gonna
be a drop right there, and it'll be used against me,
you know, from time to time. But I do. I
love basketball. I bet on the WNBA and surprisingly maybe
(39:44):
to some I'll watch it when I'm not even betting
on it, I'll just watch and I'll tell you there
are a lot of games where it is a rough watch.
Okay rough There are missed layups all the time, there
are turnovers galore. I just five more teams. There are
a lot of games it's a rough watch. Right now,
you get five more teams. I don't know. I don't
(40:08):
know if the talent is gonna be there league wide
for it to be a great product. But hey, the
w's come a long way. The interest is up, the
ratings are up, the TV money is in, so some
of the money is up. Hopefully it'll be profitable sometime soon.
That's not a shot, that's a real statement. So the
arrows pointed up. They're trying to take advantage of it
all right, coming up next, Although we've come
