Speaker 1 (00:00):
Boom shaka Laca. It's our number one of the Ben
Malers Show. As we doddle about and we set up
all night to give you a fresh pod on this
tenth day of June, and happy hump day to you,
Happy Wednesday here in our number one is Spurs star
Victor Wemba and Yama getting special treatment from the NBA
(00:22):
and is that a problem? Also, what's your instinct on
former Nick star Stefan Marbury demanding retaliation on Wemby for
his shove of Jalen Brunson. And outside of the NBA finals,
do you have a problem with Lebron James picking himself
as the goat. We'll discuss that with butterflies in our stomach.
(00:47):
Unless we don't have those no ifs ands or butts
about it. It is our number one in the web
of Wemby.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
Welcome in beginning of another night of the Ben Malor Show.
We are in the air am Reware companions as we
call a timeout time out on the court, coast to coast, border,
the border and beyond on the vast and unmeasurably powerful
(01:22):
microphones of fsre ammundating live do it live, doing it
live from the Ras, the Razmataz of gas Baggerie Garanteed
human from the world famous Fox Sports Radio studios.
Speaker 3 (01:38):
As we are.
Speaker 1 (01:40):
Side by side here now Eke in Roseville, Minnesota, along
with Al who we met at the Big event a
couple of years back in Minnesota reminus this hour made
possible by our friends at tire Rack. For over forty years,
Tyrak has been helping customers like Alf the Alien, pinter Malor,
(02:01):
prop Guy, and Fergnog find the right tires for how,
what and where they drive, ship fast and free back
by free road hazard protection with convenient installation options like
mobile tire installation, tire rack dot Com the way tire
buying should be. So we are back at it, and
(02:21):
I debated us. I'll start with the hockey. I did
watch the hockey game, Carolina winning that game, and then
I realized, the last time we tried to talk about hockey,
we got no reactions.
Speaker 3 (02:32):
Nobody really cared. So why would I do this?
Speaker 1 (02:35):
Called broadcasting, not narrowcast. So we'll play the hits. We'll
play the hits. Mom, man play the heads, right, We'll
play the hits. So we're gonna start with pro bouncy
ball and we love a good hullable loo. Who doesn't
like a good hullabluo? We have a hullaba loo to discuss.
Speaker 3 (02:52):
In the end b A.
Speaker 1 (02:55):
Now, our lead begins at the headquarters in mid Town Manhattan,
where the Association ruled on the shove hurt.
Speaker 3 (03:05):
Round the NBA.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
This is where Victor Wembanyama he shoved Jalen Brunson in
the Game three and this got replayed a bunch. Not
all of those misshots by the Knickerbockers in the fourth
quarter got replayed. This got replayed a lot. So if
you didn't hear what happened the fallout on this and
perhaps not, perhaps you were not paying attention. We've learned
(03:29):
that Victor Wembanyama will not will not be assessed a
flagrant foul for the shove of Jalen Brunson during Game
three the other night in front of all the one
percenters who are at Madison Square Garden. Now, the play
happened in the first quarter, and to describe it for
our blind listeners, Brunson tried to sit a screen and
(03:52):
then when Banyama came over these they were just trying
to set a screen on when Banyama seven foot four Spindley,
and he earned Yama and did what anyone would do.
He just shoved brunts into the ground like a sack
of trash. Get out of here, both hands right to
the upper body, just like that.
Speaker 3 (04:14):
Uh so he went down.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
Now, no foul was called on the play, despite the complaining,
the whining by the Knickerbocker fans. Now the NBA reviewed,
it decided against upgrading the no call to a flagrant foul.
Now why does that matter when ba Yama will be
able to stay at two points at the end of
(04:37):
this fugazy point system in the NBA. If you get
flagrant fouls all because of Rashid Wallace, the legacy of
both teams played hard, my man, both teams played hard
Rashid Wallace, So they put all these rules in and
two flagrant foul points this postseason.
Speaker 3 (04:53):
That's where Wemby is at this point.
Speaker 1 (04:55):
He elbowed nas read of your meanis art Timberwolves. That
was in the second round of the place. So he
picked up a couple points on that. And if you
reach four points, what happens you evaporate at that point
four If you reach four points, that triggers an automatic
suspension So the NBA senior vice President of Bureaucracy and
(05:20):
Referee Development, somebody named Monny McCutcheon who's been around for
a while, he said, the foul should have been called
on the court, should have been called on the court.
Speaker 3 (05:32):
But you know what that means. But it wasn't.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
Escalated retroactively, meaning ix nay on the retroactive punishment. A. So,
as a result of all this, one man Yama is
being called the NBA's new Golden Boy, the Wemby rules,
all of that stuff. Do the treatment he is receiving
here from the league, in the NBA. So that is
(06:01):
a good jumping off point. Let us discuss the question
and I'll give you a two part question. Is Spurs
star victor one Manyama getting special treatment from the NBA?
And is this a problem? Is this a big fundamental problem.
So I've got pastrami, sandwich on rye with mustard, flip
(06:21):
phone and Star Trek and we will combine all of
these things together and we're gonna walk the beat. We're
on the overnight beats. We're gonna walk the beat all
night long. So a to answer the question two part question,
The first part is Spurs star Victor one Manyama getting
preferential special treatment. Absolutely, of course he is. Wemby is
(06:43):
getting treated like he's the adopted son of Adam Silver
and got put on the insurance plan and they just
want to take care of him and that's it. And
the NBA protects him like he's what the last baby
manatee at a place in Florida where they're protecting the
baby manatees, and he's like the last month. They got
(07:05):
to protect him. Now, if you look at the whistle here, whistle, whistle, whistle.
If you look at the whistle, the NBA refs, they
it's like slapstick. They looked away like w WE officials
who suddenly didn't see the steel chair come flying in
and hit the guy in the back of the hat.
(07:27):
Didn't see that kind of the vibe. I God, Wemby
could close line, I'm telling you, he could absolutely go
out there and close line a guy right into the
scorer's table and they'd call it. They wouldn't call it
a foul. They'd call it. They call it a vertical
push is what they'd call.
Speaker 3 (07:47):
But no, iful, it's something something else and all that.
Speaker 1 (07:49):
Now, if the table's turned and Jalleen Russ's popular player
and obviously big deal in New York and all that.
If the table's turned though, Jalen Brunson, let's say he
somehow is a little little buzz on the rug if
he were able to shove Wemby, who's not very heavy.
So if Brunson shoves wem Banyama, let's reverse the tables
like that. Adam Silver would repel down from the rafters
(08:12):
at Madison Square Garden like spider Man, Spider Man, spider Man,
and he would give a citation to Jalen Brunson or
anyone else the dare mess with wem Banyama, don't you
do that? For example, if Luke Cornet the big lug,
the big lug there for San Antonio, if he did
(08:33):
what Wemby did, I'll tell you what's gonna happen. On
Wednesday night, Luke Cornett would be sitting down having a
nice pistrami sandwich on rye with mustard at Cat's Deli,
watching Game four on a TV that is from the
nineteen eighties, and that's it, and then also having to
write a handwritten note of apology. So that's how that
(08:56):
would go. When you crunch the numbers. Outside of Wemby
making a Louisville slugger and bludgeoning someone is almost untouchable.
Outside of that, it is almost untouchable. And while it
is expected and it is understandable that this is how
this is going here, the reason it's understandable the precedent
(09:17):
has been set way back almost fifty years ago when
Magic Johnson and Larry Bird we're playing. The NBA is
all about the cavalcade of stars, and Wemby is the
teacher's pet. He's the lucky star at this point, and
he's the darling. I don't know the ways I can
say it. I think we kind of get the point now.
(09:39):
And it's a TV show, it's on ABC, and Wemby
is the lead actor. Everyone else an extra. It's the
Wemby world. That's that's it. And there is a dimension
of the multiverse where the NBA is like, this guy's
going to be in the finals until every year until
twenty forty, so we might as well just get used
(10:01):
to it. Don't even hide it. Do not even hide
it now, turning the page, but not far. We're going
to continue with this theme here. The Alumni Association on
Page two enters the chat the Alumni Association. So former
NIXT player, and I believe there's a museum for him
in China. Loves China. Stefan Marbury, highly overrated ballplayer in
(10:27):
his ear in the NBA, was supposed to be a legend.
Just never all that good anyway. He's out there, yeap.
And he played with the Knicks way back. I was
barely alive in four to nine, a little kid back then.
He played for the knicker Bockers. And he went on
a passionate rant Stefan Marbury, of course on social media
(10:49):
where else, and criticized the Whimby move that we just
talked about as dirty, dirty, dirty.
Speaker 3 (10:56):
Dirty dirty dirty dirty dirty.
Speaker 1 (10:57):
Dirty and typical of he said. Wemby then attacked all
international players and he said, well, I say it overseas,
that's how the play. And he urged the next This
is the key part, Marbury urging the Knickerbockers to retaliate
with physicality in game four. And here's the quote. Just
(11:20):
imagine I am the aforementioned Stefan Marbray. Wemby is an
international player. The quote began, they played dirty overseas. If
I'm watching film and I see Wemby throw somebody on
my team next game, I'm going to pop him in
his rib cage so hard with my elbow. After y'all
(11:41):
watch that film what he did Jalen Brunson quote continues,
you better make sure you put that knife in his
neck next game.
Speaker 3 (11:52):
Wow, all right, it seems rather violent.
Speaker 1 (11:54):
Okay, So the question what is your instinct on former
New York Knicks guards Stefan Marbury demanding retaliation on the
Spurs Wemby in all that because of the shove of
Jalen Brunson. So Stavhan Marbury's out there, he wants the
(12:16):
eye for the eye. I believe that's called the eye
for the eye retaliation here on Victor Woman. Yea, I'm
for that shove of Brunson, And it's the rant was
pure old testament basketball, Like he's speaking the language of
the elbow, the forearm, the punch to the nuts, back
(12:41):
alley screens like that's what he's talking about. However, the
modern NBA, they don't operate. That's why this is so outraged.
Like what Wemby did, if you're of a certain age,
was just like every game that happened.
Speaker 3 (12:55):
It wasn't that big a deal.
Speaker 1 (12:56):
They didn't have to look at it from seventeen different
camera angles, and that was just the reality of the situation.
Of course, now it's been so many years since the
NBA was like that because the players don't seem to
care all that much, at least during the regular season.
They don't care, and they're all buddies with each other.
And so that's the old generation. And it wasn't even
really when Marbury was playing either. It didn't go on
(13:18):
too much, and it was like the tail end.
Speaker 3 (13:20):
If anything.
Speaker 1 (13:21):
It was the tail end when Marbury was doing his
thing for the Nicks and all those other teams, and
so in the NBA is all about hugs and good
vibrations and all that stuff, and so you look at it,
they'd rather cuddle than elbow each other. They just what
it's proper to corn and the other thing. When you
(13:42):
do push back, you must follow, and this goes from
beginning of time. When you do push back, you must
follow the Nike marketing slogan just do it, meaning real
retaliation is silent, it's sudden, it is not tell how
And the issue here is that the marbur is talking
(14:04):
like this is the Knicks of the mid nineties, the
mid nineties Nicks and spoiler alert, this is not a
Nicks heat matchup in the mid nineties or late nineties here,
and you don't have Charles Oakley or Anthony Mason.
Speaker 3 (14:21):
They're not walking through that door.
Speaker 1 (14:22):
Mason's crossed the pearly gates and Oakley is not allowed
in or he'll get arrested for trespassing by James Dolan.
Speaker 3 (14:29):
So they're done. The Knicks have not.
Speaker 1 (14:32):
Had that tough side to them since people had flip
phones and fax machines. It's been that long here. The
other bugaboo since we're on the bugglebo was the other
bugaboo here. As we've talked about Wemby the face as
Lebron has gotten old the last couple of years, Wemby
is the face of the NBA to come here, and
(14:53):
as we talked about, you cannot mess with that, and
so you have to protect him like he's the Pope
in the Pope Mobile. You got, you gotta protect, protect, protect,
protect all right. Now, last word to King James Land.
Where is King James Land? We're not sure, however, Lebron
James has entered the endless Michael Jordan versus Lebron goat
(15:17):
debate Time Magazine, which apparently still in business. I think
that's impressive, because who's reading Time magazine? Anyway, They went
out there and said he gave an interview, a recent
interview to Time magazine, which I house bouncing around the web.
And Lebron was asked about his place among basketball legends,
(15:38):
and he said, quote, I am not taking nobody over me.
Speaker 3 (15:45):
I think he learned that at Duke. Oh he didn't
go to Duke. Where are you learning that? Okay?
Speaker 1 (15:51):
Anyway, that was quote I'm not taking nobody over me.
There's no question. Quote continues, but Lebron and said, I
think Mike will say the same thing, Rest his soul.
Kobe will say the same thing, Magic will say the
same thing, Bird will say.
Speaker 3 (16:07):
The same thing.
Speaker 1 (16:08):
Shack could say the same thing, The late great will Kareem.
He's ran through all.
Speaker 3 (16:13):
These other players, and went on and on and on.
Speaker 1 (16:16):
Answer the question, do you have a problem with Lebron
James picking himself as the goat and saying everyone would
do the same thing. So let's put this under the
Mallard microscope, examining the curious case of Lebron James, a
(16:38):
man who claims he does not obsess over barber shop
goat talk. He's mentioned this many times over the years,
all while holding a pair of clippers. And he's got
the mirror there, and he owns the chair, he's the
whole thing. And I don't do that. That's the Lebron.
(16:59):
I do not do that, and do not do it
all right, So I don't know if it's a problem.
It's more of a pet peeve. And I have a
bully pulpit here to air my grievances, so I will
take advantage of that. And I will now explain to you,
my friend, my pet peeve. So I get that every
(17:21):
all time great backs themselves and that's they believe in themselves,
although they don't normally say it, right, you don't say it.
And and Lebron does come across as a douchey mcdouche
when the way that he says, like Lebron naming himself
the goat is kind of like directing your own biopic
(17:43):
and giving yourself the Oscar. And I hate to burst
Lebron's ego bubble. Michael Jordan never if you can prove
to me I'm wrong, I will, I will correct this.
To my knowledge, Michael Jordan never ever called himself the goat.
He was not raised that way, and he just acted
like he was the goat and let other people decide
(18:08):
that you're the greatest of all time and all that stuff.
But watched all of MJ's run with the Bulls, and
I watched all the Lebron James run with these seventeen
different teams Lebron's played for. And what air Jordan did.
He took the baton and people forget Matgic Johnson and
Larry Bird were very popular and they were becoming even
more popular in the NBA. They had his renaissance in
(18:31):
the nineteen eighties, and then Jordan in that era came
along right around the showtime Lakers and the Celtics, who
are these great teams, And he took the baton Jordan
from Magic and Bird and then had a dust storm.
Jordan reached a different dimension of star dust and he
went star trek is what Jordan was able to do there,
(18:56):
to explore strange new worlds never before seen by an
end player, and to boldly go where no man had
gone before. And while Lebron's Career is the greatest sequel
ever made.
Speaker 3 (19:11):
Every man, woman, and.
Speaker 1 (19:12):
Child knows the sequel is never the equal and that's
the reality. And Jordan's team's really six to zero in
the finals something like that with the Bulls believe they
were and Pete domins Lebron quantity, quantity over quality. And
by the way, we have little text to Lebron we'd
like to send out here, and.
Speaker 3 (19:30):
This is voice to text.
Speaker 1 (19:32):
The rule has always been, if you have to declare
yourself the goat, you're probably not. Eight seven seven ninety

Speaker 3 (20:16):
Night let the games begin.
Speaker 1 (20:18):
You can go back and enjoy, or at least pretend
to enjoy what you may have missed. So the Knicks
looked mortal. They hit all the momentum, all the momentum,
and they lost their losers. So the Spurs have all
the momentum. So that means San Antonio is to just
keep winning, right. Well, the adjustments, what is the big
(20:38):
adjustment the Knicks are planning to make after gagging away
a home game in the NBA Finals. Will tell you
what the plan is. We've got the plan. We'll give
you the blueprint. We'll get to that and we will
do it.

interact with us there again at Ben Mahler and see
some of the things we'll be talking about throughout the overnight.
(22:54):
And Freddie writes and says, eight plus plus on the
opening mall monologue, I put every won Lebron James mentioned
in on Big Ben's big board. Not a list, not
a list. As a goat. Lebron does not even make
the top ten.
Speaker 3 (23:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (23:13):
See that's a little Maggie. And Freddie said that Maggie
called up years ago. She was a little, sweet little girl.
She's all grown up now. I think she's married. I
think she's a mom. So time goes by fast boys.
It happens real quick, just like boom, how that happen?
What else do we have?
Speaker 3 (23:30):
Let's see page down.
Speaker 1 (23:33):
Shane into Moines says, does any NBA player who isn't
a Nick need to explain why he avoided the Knicks?
Lebron is a moron and a cloud chaser. The Shane's
referring to what we talked about yesterday Lebron and the Knickerbockers,
and said, well, you didn't want to go to the
garden and all that. What else do we have to
see page down. Late Night Drug tester says Wenby is
(23:56):
getting the calls because if the French play tough, Napoleon
would have never lost a Waterloo and Germany would have
run through them twice in Uh, wouldn't have run through
them twice in forty years, said the Late Night Drug tester.
Speaker 3 (24:16):
What else?
Speaker 1 (24:16):
Trucker Joe writes in from the Highways and Byways of
North America and he says, I was able to come
across the Dick's blueprint tonight and it's going to surprise you.
Speaker 3 (24:27):
Hmm. Interesting. I see what you did there?
Speaker 6 (24:29):
What blueprint?
Speaker 1 (24:30):
Well, well we have we actually have the blueprint, but
not the one he sent, but we actually had the
blueprint here. This comes from Mike Brown. Of course, the
media would never ever use skulduggery on us at all.
So Mike Brown discussing what has to improve for the
Knickerbockers in Game four after losing Game three at home,
and it turned out to be some kitty cat talk,
(24:54):
some kitty cat talk.
Speaker 3 (24:55):
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (24:57):
The offense they've got again, Karl Anthony Towns, better known
as Kat. They've got to get him more involved that
he was not involved now, how much of that is
on the Knicks offense, and how much of that is
on Karl Anthony Towns, whose entire career has always been
that guy he's like, well, some nights he's just not
into it. He just zones out. And that's how that is.
Speaker 3 (25:21):
And so there you go.
Speaker 1 (25:23):
Towns has not scored in the fourth quarter of any
of the three NBA Finals games at this point. Now,
I didn't play in the NBA. I just it seems
like that's not good.
Speaker 3 (25:33):
Oh, your nitpicking, Malor.
Speaker 1 (25:35):
I know, I know, I just I feel like the
fact that you're getting fifty million dollars a year and
you haven't scored in the fourth quarter of any of
the three NBA Finals gifts seems problematic.
Speaker 3 (25:44):
Boy, what do you know? That's what you're doing overnight.
It's okay, I understand. I understed to calm down. Everything's
gonna be okay.
Speaker 1 (25:51):
Just chill out a little bit and chill pills. I
do like the fact that the Knicks. I enjoy the
fact that the Knicks played terribly in the fourth quarter
and they've got eighteen different excuses. They blame the referees
for a play that happened in the fourth quarter. That's
why the Nicks missed all those shots in the fourth
(26:12):
quarter because of something that happened in the first quarter.
Speaker 3 (26:15):
And then you've.
Speaker 1 (26:16):
Also got well, uh, the president was there, so we
were distracted.
Speaker 3 (26:22):
Well isn't that equal? Like everyone had.
Speaker 1 (26:24):
To deal with that, Like the Spurs had to deal
with that and they played Okay, So like it's.
Speaker 3 (26:29):
Only affected you? Is that because you're soft? Yes? Please?
All right? What else do we have to see? Page then?
Speaker 1 (26:38):
Uh, Ferg Dock says, great rundown Bennett, looks like it's
going to be one hell of a show. Nobody's going
to want to miss. It's Ferg Doc who was furloughed.
Why don't it was he furloughed?
Speaker 3 (26:49):
Was he escaped? Time spent? Furloughed?
Speaker 1 (26:53):
Sounds better with Ferg dog dog furlough, Ferg dog furlough.
Speaker 3 (26:56):
Okay, we'll go with Ferg dog furlough.
Speaker 6 (26:59):
Tongue twister.
Speaker 3 (26:59):
Yeah, we don't want to do too many of those.
Speaker 1 (27:01):
Let's go to the phones and we'll start out with
Lucky Tony, who's in the Bay area. Hello, Lucky Tony, welcome.
Speaker 6 (27:08):
Hey man, what is Delonte west favorite godfather quote? I
don't know what something about going to the mattresses. Thanks man.
Speaker 1 (27:16):
Okay, So hello to Anthony and Louisiana. There is some
legends back to back. You talk about it, Murderer's row
to begin the night.
Speaker 5 (27:24):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (27:24):
Does not get any better than lucky Tony and Anthony
in Louisa.
Speaker 3 (27:29):
Hey, what's hit my buddy? Anthony?
Speaker 1 (27:33):
How you don't check out any sports? You pay attention
to anything?
Speaker 4 (27:37):
Here?
Speaker 3 (27:37):
Anthony?
Speaker 5 (27:39):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (27:40):
Uh now hockey, I'm going for the best about tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (27:43):

been doing breathing exercises because I haven't liked this time
of the show. Lorena, you mentioned something about all.
Speaker 1 (29:39):
Right, Anthony, how do you feel about it? I feel
like Scott took a shot. You're very polite. I feel

Oh you're the Knight in shining armor to save the
damsel in distress.
