Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's a small world, after all, it's a small, small world.
And that's baseball, Susan. It's our number two, our number two,
and it's all about scandal involving the Dodgers now show.
Hey O Toadi, the seven hundred million dollar man, according
to reports this week, will not hit the eject button

(00:23):
on the Dodger deal if they are sold, believe it
or not. Also, can you diagnose what's going on with
Yankee star jazz Chisholm Junior, who's been playing some bad
music this year in the Boogie Down Bronx. We'll talk
about that. Also, what's your takeaway from the malor sampler

(00:44):
of the first night of exhibition NFL television broadcast, the
local TV broadcast in the NFL. We'll talk about that.
We got the Fifth Hour podcast. It's all about the rat,
all about the vermin on the Fifth Hour podcast today
on this Friday, the fourteenth day of August. So check
out the Fifth Hour podcast later. But right now here
we go. It's our number two.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
Feeling Blue, Feeling Blue, Welcome in not beginning of another
hour of.

Speaker 1 (01:20):
The Ben Mahlor Show. We are in the air, em
rewhere face to face. Well, steer the mind. Yeah, I'm
just deal with it all right. And we are on
the last lap, Well not quite. We've got a couple
more laps to go. Coast to coast, border to border
and beyond. On the vast and smashingly powerful microphones of

(01:46):
fs are eminating live. I'll do it live. That's right
from the Stan, not Kazakistan or Rezbekistan. It's Malard Stan
Garanteed human from the world famous Fox Sports radio studios.
We're blind. Sea Bass and Jerry from Rhode Island both said,

(02:11):
you know, Malick, we need some Express. If you work
in logistics, you know nothing moves without you. Companies need
skilled people now and Express Employment professionals can help you
find contract or full time work that fits at no
cost to you. Visit expresspros dot com, get support, get options,

(02:33):
and get to work. So our lead story of this
our little baseball here at the top and big match
up this weekend, the Dodgers and the Brewers four game series.
It started on Thursday night at the Ravine in la
and the Dodgers are back. They get the perfect tonic.
They played the Royals beat up on the tomato cans
there and so now the Brewers come in. Brewers have

(02:55):
not been playing well recently either, so that was the matchup.
I saw any of that game, perhaps you missed it,
and wow, what a what a hot mess? Edwin Diaz. Yeah, man,
he had dysentery yet again on the mound, coughed up
a multi run lead in the ninth inning, and Dave

(03:17):
Roberts acting like the statue of liberty. He was frozen
like a statue watching this happen and took him out
too late. Brewers win the game, so the crew get
back on track, feel good about themselves there against another
Dave Roberts liked him in that spot moment there, So
we'll wait to get our full review on that series.

(03:38):
But the Brewers feeling good about themselves. Dodgers and another
embarrassing moment there. It's all about the loose bies. I'm
sure some Dodger propaganda's say, well, you know, he didn't
get any anybody really out, but he looked you know,
there's some signs. There's some signs he's about to turn
the corner. Ah, all right, anyway, the real story, don't
bury the lead, ma man. The real story here is

(03:58):
the unrest in Blue heavy and as we have talked
about it's bad, like the Gougenheim Partner group, It's not
good at all. Everything I'm hearing, everything I read this
is a big time financial boondoggle that has no end
in sight, no really good ending to think about it.

(04:20):
Like the top way this could end would be that
all you have to do is sell the Dodgers. You
already sold the Lakers, and then just take that whatever
money you can get out of that after capital gains,
and then pay off the federal government to keep yourself
out of some country club jail as a rich person,
because rich people go to country club jail. About where
we are at this based on the information we have.

(04:42):
So the other part of this is the there's a
lot of pieces in the jigsaw puzzle is show hail Tani.
So we're hearing that the reports, I'm sure these were
completely organic and we're not leaked by somebody from the
Dodger pr department that Sho hal Tani is unlikely to
exercise his key Man opt out clause even if Mark

(05:06):
Walter is forced by the federal government to sell the
Dodgers because of some illegal dealing financially. Now, the report
that conveniently popped up in multiple Friendly to Baseball outlets.
Friendly to Baseball Outlets claimed that it was a source
familiar with Otani's camp. Where is Campbotani? Do is that?

Speaker 3 (05:29):
Like?

Speaker 4 (05:30):
Do we know?

Speaker 1 (05:30):
Is that in Riverside? Where's Campbelltani? San Clemente? Do we
know where that? We don't know?

Speaker 3 (05:35):
What they're not?

Speaker 1 (05:35):
Now the clause if you don't know, give you the
quick thumbnail on this. So a Tani ten years, seven
hundred million dollar contract. He's currently getting paid seven dollars
an hour and most of that money deferred. However, there's
an opt out if Mark Walter, the owner or the
Dodgers executive Andrew Friedman say bye bye to the organization

(05:59):
now Otani's camp. This is according to the reporting. They
believe the Dodgers have proven themselves to be a well
oiled machine and fulfilled their promise to reinvest the money
saved through Otani's massive contract deferrals into the Dodger roster.

(06:19):
Then you had that long time gas bag executive Stan
cast In, the Dodgers executive who came out there. Remember
I remember when he got very upset with a one
of the beat writers. I approached him in the press
box very classic a couple of years back. Anyway, Stan
casting insisting that the owner of the team, the guy
that's his boss, Mark Walter, and his sudden sale of

(06:42):
the Lakers completely unrelated to the Dodgers declaring there are
no changes here. Wink wink. I had the last part
that wink wink. I added that that was not his quote.
I added the wink wink. That was my part. That
was my part. I added the wink wink. All right,
So that is a good jumping out point. Let us
discuss the question show Hey Otani, all right, not gonna

(07:03):
hit the eject button on the Dodgers if they're sold.
This according to multiple reports, believe it or not, believe
it or not. So I've got Lady Gaga, my pillow,
and televangelist, and we'll combine all of these things together
and we'll give you the ABC's and the one two threes.

(07:24):
We always start out though with number one one one
one one one what stop stop? I said, stop? What
a croc? What an absolute croc? Okay, Seriously, we're not

(07:48):
chugging the corporate blue kool aid. Now. I like the Dodgers.
I'd like them to succeed I'd like them to do well.
But unlike a lot of you people, I have critical thinking,
all right, I have critical thinking, and that is my
advantage I have over many people. Otani did not negotiate
one of the rarest clauses in baseball history. You can count,

(08:11):
I believe, on one hand, the amount of people that
have had that clause. You don't do that to just
waste it. It is an inject button, and you don't
certainly broadcast your intentions when you're going to hit it.
Just like Mark Walter did not say I'm gonna buy
the Lakers and less than a year I'm gonna sell them.

(08:31):
He didn't say that. He didn't say that, you know,
because he didn't realize the FEDS would be off bird
Dog and him after so Otani's camp Campboltani. Is that
like Camp Pendleton, so Campboltani would have to be clinically
stupid to telegraph their movements. They don't know. There's so

(08:53):
many unanswered questions here about how bad is this? Is
it legitimately terrible? Is it not as bad as initially reported?
So naturally you would think they're sitting there with their
Lady Gaga poker face, pretending pretending everything is pure Dodger

(09:13):
Land magic, like we don't know who if the Dodgers
who buys the team, does Andrew Friedman stay or does
he leave? Will the new owner keep spending like a
drunken sailor or turn the Dodgers back into a Frank
McCourt era Dollar General where they bring back he sap Troy,
nobody knows Didley squat okay, and all all these reports

(09:38):
conveniently leaking out at about the same time. It just
makes you go hmmm, kind of like that was orchestrated.
One of those lines the Dodgers a well oiled machine
line which pr person wrote that that's quality. That is
absolute quality from supposedly Otani's camp. But just to put

(10:01):
a bow on this, declaring Otani will not walk right
now is like walking around the stables there at Churchill Downs.
And we have one of our great listeners who tends
of the horses at Churchill Downs, walking around the back
of Churchill Downs and just wander around and announcing the

(10:23):
winner of the Kentucky Derby while the horses are eating
hay in the back. What are you doing all right now, Pache?
Due to the bronx to the Box and the Bronx
of the Bronx and Brox and Box Box Brox Rox.
Jazz Chisholm not exactly smooth. Jazz a miserable season. Much

(10:44):
this may have Yankee fan Jill in Minnesota, She's devastated
at Jazz Chisholm there, who's continued to suck at a
time you cannot suck. When over four Yankees had a
matinee there in the Bronx, three strikeouts, including the final out.
Yankees lost one tough to the Seattle baseball team. And
despite being absolute dog crap all year, Jazz Chisholm does

(11:08):
not think that going to the bench would help him.
Of course not. Why would he Nothing else has helped him,
Why would that help him? He said, the only way
through the struggles is to continue to play and go
zero for four. Well actually said to keep going through it. Yes,
it's an automatic out when you play the Yankees, you're

(11:30):
always on the power play when Jazz Chisholm is there.
Because the Yankees lineup is shorthanded now his offensive production
has fallen into the abyss. Okay, it's somewhere in the
East River. Chisholm a six eighty seven ops for the
Yankees right now at the time we're doing this monologue,
and that is way down over one hundred points, over

(11:53):
one hundred and twenty points from where it was last season.
And it's across the board down down, down, down, down,
down down down, down, down, down, down, down down. It's
way down now. Chisholm said, you know, he said, oh,
it can be okay and all that stuff, but he's
carrying a roughly forty percent with rate, and it's not

(12:17):
just against one pitch, it's not just against breaking balls,
it's against everything, and he can see it. Here's what
he said. He said, he doesn't have an explanation. He said,
I can't tell you why or else I would be hitting,
Chisholm insisting that he isn't mentally defeated. And he then
said that he believes forty one games can turn a

(12:40):
season around, which is the amount of games the Yankees have,
give or take here the rest of the way. So
the question, can you diagnose what the f is going
on with Yankee star Jazz Chisholm Junior, the second baseman
from Hell. So yeah, Jazz Chishm Jr. Let's go back

(13:01):
to February and it was great. It was wonderful. He
came out and it was spring training in Florida, and
he showed up and he was doing cosplay as a
glorious peacock, and he was strutting around as a peacock
with his feathers in the air everywhere, and if I
remember correctly, he was talking about a fifty to fifty

(13:21):
season in the Bronx. And unfortunately he has been out,
been charged with writing bad checks. He wrote checks he
could not cash and no baseball play. Think about this,
Of all the players in Major League Baseball, there is
no single baseball player in twenty twenty six that has
destroyed their financial future more than Jazz Chism. Nobody has

(13:46):
done more damage to their outlook career wise financially than
Jazz Chism. And his big proclamation from Yankee Nation has
turned out to be not a dream, more like a nightmare.
He wanted the mega mega man get millions in free agency,
and instead he has thrown roughly one hundred and fifty

(14:07):
million dollars that's how much he's going to lose into
a bonfire and watched it burn, baby burn, And that
is generational wealth up in smoke. This season that's how
bad jazz has been. He bet on himself and right
now he's got a cream pie all over the place. Right,

(14:28):
Chisholm wanted the penthouse. He wanted the penthouse. As of
this moment, he is going to be shopping in the
My Pillow section of free agency, one of those Pillow
contracts we talk about all the time, and he'll be
starring in a budget friendly remake of a My Pillow

(14:51):
commercial those used to be everywhere, and his likely next
contract instead of the presidential suite, he'll be staying at
a hostel, right, and just keep the roof over your head.
And you got a lot of people hanging around and
all that when of those one year bounce back pillow deals. Yeah,
so it turns out all those tail feathers from the

(15:12):
peacock costume were hot air. That's where they were, all right,
final point. Let's go back to the NFL. I am
contractually obligated to talk about this, so I wanted to
talk about the presentation, all right. Watched a lot of
these Thursday exhibition games and my right hand was getting
a workout, flipping around the boob tube to practice football.

(15:36):
Not real football, not real football. We talked about practice football, YEP,
exhibition games. So the question what was your big takeaway
from spending about seven hours of your life. We'll be
on your deathbed someday. I wish you had that time back.
What's your takeaway from the Malor Sampler on the first
real night of exhibition NFL television broadcast. So takeaways rather simple,

(16:02):
and it's the same take I've had for many years.
I just like to enhance it. It's confirmed. I was
re I got reconfirmed by my take validated. So the
exhibition television broadcasts are not football coverage. They're not football coverage.
It's like going to church, all right, it's going to
the tabernacle. Every local broadcaster. And I flipped through all

(16:24):
these games, the Lions and the Bengals, and the Patriots
there there again. I went down the Raiders and Cardinals.
I was watching the forty nine ers of the time.
All of these broadcasts, everyone that I sampled on the
Malor Sampler, every one of them.

Speaker 3 (16:42):
Was.

Speaker 1 (16:42):
It was like watching a televangelist working as a faith
healer holding a tent revival out in the boondocks, promising
miracles this season. It's like they were all passing around
this sippy cup with team kool Aid is what they
were doing. So yeah, it's I understand. You check your
critical thinking at the door when you are in this

(17:04):
environment and repeat after me. Everybody looks amazing. We've had
such a great camp all MG. Yeah, these telecasts it's
like a real estate listings. You know, you ever check
if you've ever looked for a house or anything like that.
You look at these real estate listings online and everything
is charming, full of potential, a lot of upside, which

(17:30):
usually means total dump, total dump. And on night number
one of the exhibition games, like every single rookie, according
to these guys is Moses parting the Red Sea. What
a draft. We nailed it. We absolutely nailed in the draft.

(17:54):
Every veteran best shape of his life, hasn't had a
bet camped in this one. Yep, every dysfunctional franchise on
track on the road Gloria Road to the super Bowl.
Like you you aren't watching actual analysis, You're attending a

(18:15):
three hour motivational seminar where the snake oil is officially
licensed with the NFL shield on it. Welcome to the cult.
It's like, come on, I'm watching the Titans broadcast. I
was watching the Charger Texans game and some blowhard from

(18:36):
the Texans like, well, the NFL send us to London
because they love the Texans brand. No, they didn't, dummy.
They sent the Texans because they send everybody outside a
few glamour teams overseas because they're barnstorming, and that's what
they're doing.

Speaker 5 (18:52):
It's not because they love the Texans. Okay, it's not,
so just knock it off. You're embarrassing yourself, is what
you're doing. It's embarrassing. It is the Ben Mahler Show.

team In, seattle The, mariners were very braggadocious that they
had found there forever shortstop Kidnamed Colt Emerson Colt, emerson

(24:30):
with much, fanfare he made his season, debut and oh my,

emerson who signed a one hundred million dollar contract with The,
mariners you will have to see him In, tacoma which

(24:50):
is not a major league. Team that's The TRIPLE a.
Team you. See Colt emerson has been, Demoted he has
been sent to the boond, out to the minor, leagues
as he has been not only a baseball, player he
has been. TERRIBLE a prospect is a suspect until proven.
Otherwise since reaching the big, leagues this guy's batting one

(25:12):
to ninety with a two forty six on base, percentage
of slugging percentages three thirty. FIVE i, know there's a
lot of. Numbers he is, terrible absolutely. Horrific he's had
eighty three strikeouts and two hundred and forty one played.
Appearances so Wing, barra Wing barra Miss, now it would
not be as big a problem if The mariners actually

(25:34):
knew how to hit the. Ball they are. Horrific they
are the worst offensive team in. Baseball they're so. Bad
how bad are? They they're so bad That robbie The
mariner fan could hit cleanup for The mariners On Friday.
Night that's a, Thing i'm telling. You so one hundred
million dollars worst offense and this is supposed to be

(25:55):
one of your cornerstone. Players AND i certainly feel like
this is happening quite a bit in. Baseball this is
the new. Trend the nerds have gotten together at their
webinar and they, Said, okay we see. Somebody we've decided
these people are going to be, great and we are
going to give them forever contracts and this is our,

(26:15):
future and you, know, yeah just oh so. Good another
example of, that although not quite as extreme, financially would
be could what's his, Name Jackson, holliday The Orioles Jackson.
Holiday he was the number one overall pick out Of, Stillwater,

(26:39):
oklahoma the son Of Matt, holliday and all The baltimoreans

years and he's a two forty one hitter with what's
he got like six home runs or something like that this?

Speaker 1 (33:17):
Uh taking a little subtle, shot a little subtle shot
at the team that would be none other Than Troy. Aikman,
Now Troy aikman is working as a consultant for The Miami.
Dolphins he's also double dipping as a blowhard On Monday Night,
football and many people have pointed out a conflict of,

(33:38):
interest and of Course aikman is, old what are you talking?
About conflict of? Interest there's no way we're all in
bed with each. Other, WELL i added that. Part he
then gave an explanation as to why it's not a
conflict of of, Interest aikman pointing Out miami is not
going to be very good this. Year he, says The
dolphins are not expected to be very good this, Year aikman.

(33:59):
Said he added That miami is getting out of cap
hell so especially saying in so many words that what
everyone else is saying that they're they're. Tanking, however he
works for the team. Here that's. IT i, Mean aikman's
trying to extinguish the conflict of interest part of the,
story and in order to do, that he had to

(34:23):
deliver a haymaker to The. Dolphins. Right so his defense
is he there's no conflict of interest because The dolphins
are Like dodo right, There die die. Diarrhea and there's
no WAY espn is gonna put The Miami dolphins On
Monday Night football because they suck and when they don't,
