Speaker 1 (00:00):
That's baseball, Susan. It's our number two. As we jump
into the fray here on the Ben Maller Show, buy
or sell that Yankees captain Aaron Judge can immediately look
like himself after missing three months. He chose not to
go to a rehab assignment to work out the kinks. Also,

(00:22):
why should the Braves marry? Ronald Acuna Jr., who wants
a new contract when they can date him for two
more years. He's got a couple of options on his contract.
And in broadcasting, how many rides on the NBC Peacock
does Jack Collinsworth get before we admit that the family
name is doing the heavy lifting here? He got another

(00:43):
gig after stinking at his two previous jobs. We'll talk
about all that and more, and we'll do it right
about now. Here it is, hour number two. Well, it
is Judgment Day in baseball. Did you know that? You
didn't know? You didn't realize that? Welcome in the beginning

it was Army veteran Reggie from Minnesota. who reached out
across the aisle. He said, Ben, I know you're not
a king, but can you tell me about DraftKings? I said, sure, absolutely.
The wait is over. Football is here, and so is DraftKings.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
Stop!

Speaker 1 (03:01):
It's a massive contract, a record for a defense back
from the New England Patriots. So he is locked up
as the season begins tomorrow in Seattle. But our lead
this hour is from the Bronx. And that's where we go.
As the news is in, if you've not heard, the
judge is back in the chambers. The Yankees, the New

(03:23):
York Yankees. Maybe you missed this. The Yankees have reinstated
Aaron Judge. El Capitan is back from the 60-day injury list.
We used to call it the DL back before the
Wokesters took over baseball. Had a broken rib. Sidelined him
since May 31st. Remember when Aaron Boone said it would

(03:44):
just be a couple of weeks and Judge would be back?

Speaker 2 (03:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
Anyway, ended up missing more than three months of the
Yankees season. Missed all of June, all of July, and
all of August. And here we are now. Judge is
expected in the Yankee lineup on Tuesday night when the
Yankees open up a three-game homestand against the doormats of baseball,

(04:10):
the Colorado Rockies. So Judge had been with the Yankees.
They were on a West Coast swing. And he was
out there and jumped directly onto the active roster. That's
where the story is. That's where the story is on
this because, well, Judge is back. Who cares? But there
was this great debate because the Yankee front office wanted...

(04:31):
Aaron Judge to go on a minor league rehab assignment,
something that was important to management. Judge said, Ixnay on
the AAA. He didn't go. He said he didn't need it.
So he ends up winning in the end. That is
a good jumping off point. Let us discuss the question.
Buy or sell that the Yankees captain Aaron Judge can

(04:56):
immediately look for like himself, after missing three months of
the baseball season, back in the Yankee lineup on Tuesday night.
He's just going to go back in there and be
the old Aaron Judge. I've got Hungry Man Homestyle Meatloaf Dinner,
The Exorcist, and Frequent Flyer Program. And we will combine

(05:16):
all of these things together, and we are going to
have a candid microphone segment is what we're going to have.
But we always start out. You know where we start.
Number one. One, one, one, one, one, one, one. Can
I get a one to the right? Can I get
a one to the left? Can I get a one
in the middle? Number one. I didn't need an extra one.

(05:38):
So take off the Yankee cheerleading outfit and put down
the pom-poms here. I am going to sell. I'm not buying.
I am selling this. I am selling that Aaron Judge
comeback hyperbole. He missed, if my math is right, 84 games.
He then refuses a rehab assignment after missing 84 games.

(06:00):
And the front office, Brian Cashman and the rest, they're
genuflected to Aaron Judge. So we know that there are
different rules for the star. Superstars get that TSA pre-check
straight into Yankee Stadium. If you're just a normal utility
player and you're coming off an injury, you're going to
spend a week in AAA. This does reek of big

(06:23):
league hubris. It does. The Yankees actually had a winning record.
They were six games over. 500,. 536 winning percentage without
Aaron Judge. Now, a couple of thoughts on that. A,
doesn't that cheapen the value of Judge if they could
play above. 500 without him? And the other part of
that is, is that just a product of the American

(06:46):
League being trash this year? There's not very many good
teams in the American League. So they survived the loss
of their big bopper for the balance of the summertime
throughout the whole summer. And by the way, you aren't
getting MVP judge fresh out of the box here. You're not.
Let me tell you how this is going to go.
I'm never wrong about these things. You're getting a three

(07:07):
month old hungry man, homestyle meatloaf dinner. That's been in
the deep freeze for a while there. And that's got
the brown gravy, the mashed potatoes, the brownie, and all that. However,
you've got to defrost the damn thing. And the Yankees
are like, we don't need to defrost this. We're just
going to do it. Okay, good. And spare me the
October superhero narrative. I don't want to hear about that

(07:28):
from my Yankee friends because even when fully healthy, Aaron
Judge in his career is a. 236 hitter in the postseason. Hey, Boomer,
batting average doesn't matter, man.

Speaker 2 (07:39):
Okay, fine.

Speaker 1 (07:40):
That's fine.

So could he hit a home
run or two against the Rockies because they're a minor
league team? Sure, why not? But I'm not telling you
right now. I'm not expecting much from Judge. There's a
month to go. Basically, that's it until the playoffs begin.

(08:01):
And if this microwave comeback goes sideways, don't expect Aaron
Boone and Brian Cashman to admit that, They goofed up.
That skipping the rehab was a mistake. I would be
shocked if they admit that. They'll just serve up some
reheated word salad instead because they're the ones that allowed
this to happen. And holy moly, if it does not

(08:23):
go right or a judge gets hurt right away, they'll
have hell to pay. Hell to pay.

Speaker 2 (08:28):
All right.

Speaker 1 (08:28):
Meanwhile, to the ATL we go.

Speaker 3 (08:31):
Georgia.

Speaker 2 (08:33):
Georgia.

Speaker 1 (08:34):
Below the Mason-Dixon line, fresh off a three-dinger delight in Philadelphia,
where he was styling and profiling Ronald Acuna Jr., the outfielder,
the guy that was destined to go to the Hall
of Fame and then had to play the rest of
his career out, and mostly he's been damaged goods. So
Ronald Acuna Jr., he wants, shockingly, another long-term extension with

(08:57):
the Atlanta Braves. You might remember years ago he signed
a huge extension with An eight-year deal back in the day.
So we're still a little ways away from that ending.
And Acuna says he would like the Braves to give
him a new contract this offseason. Does that work? Because
I've asked people I work for to give me new contracts.
They usually laugh at me and hang up the phone.
Does it work for Ronald Acuna Jr.? Okay. Anyway, he

(09:20):
made it clear he wants to stay in Atlanta and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
So the Braves are saying the great Lee Corso, quote,
not so fast, my friends. largely because of Ronald Acuna Jr.
's medical chart. It's very long, very long. Durability is
not his specialty. He did sign that eight-year $ 100 million

(09:43):
deal back in 2019. 115 games into his career, he
signed the mega contract. Atlanta, though, holds two options. They
have this 2017... and the 2018, so you would assume
the Braves would just pick up the options and they
would control Ronald Acuna Jr. for two more seasons before

(10:06):
he can become a free agent. So here's the question.
Why should the Braves marry Ronald Acuna Jr. again? Why
should they give him a new contract when they can
just date him for two more years with cost certainty? Well,
there's only one reason you would give him a new contract,
because you're a fool with a capital F. And the

(10:27):
GM there in Atlanta has been there a while now,
Alex Anthopoulos, should get a Ouija board and a channel,
former First Lady Nancy Reagan, and just say no. Just
say no, no, no, no, no, no, no. The medical
history on Ronald reads like a screening of The Exorcist,

(10:48):
complete with demonic possession. Demonic possession. You got a torn
ACL in the right knee. You got a torn ACL
in the left knee. You got multiple hammy problems. The
hammy goes whammy. All these things have happened. Two different
trips to what used to be the disabled this year
involving the same left hammy that did go whammy. So

(11:10):
there's a lot of warning signs there. And if you
look at the sticker on the package, it says, Buyer Beware.
Buyer Beware with Ronald Lacuna Jr. So you don't pay
for the name stitched across the very back there of
the jersey. You pay for the production. You pay for
the availability. And that's the problem. Availability has all the

(11:32):
dependability for Ronald Lacuna Jr. of a submarine you bought
at Spirit Halloween. Well, that's not actually true. A real submarine,
that's a prop for Halloween. Well, I bought it, but
it doesn't work. I don't know what to tell you.
And yeah, when he's operational, he's got all the razzle-dazzle.
He's spectacular, Ronald Acuna Jr. But the Braves are not

(11:54):
purchasing the classical vision of what he had been. And
they can't just put him there and mire behind the
velvet ropes. They're paying for playing in baseball games. And lately,
he has spent far too much time with the sign
around his neck saying, out of service, out of service,

(12:16):
and that's it. So at one point, you'd say franchise pillar,
team-friendly deal, all that stuff. It's more like a load-bearing
wall with a termite problem. That is what has happened
lately to Ronald Lacuna Jr. Meanwhile, final point. To TV
land we go. To TV land and broadcasting update. Jack Collinsworth,

(12:42):
the spawn of Chris Collinsworth. It turns out he will
remain part of NBC's Sunday Night Football coverage despite being
removed from the show people actually watch. The Football Night
in America pregame show went out and spent some money,
brought in Tony Dungy and they Pretty much, or Tony Dungy.

(13:03):
Mike Tomlin got rid of Tony Dungy is what the
man tried to say. So Dungy's out after putting everyone
to sleep. Collinsworth will continue hosting something called Sunday Night
Football Final, which seven people and his mom watch. It's
the NBC postgame show streamed exclusively there on Peacock. The
question is this. How many rides on the NBC Peacock?

(13:24):
How many rides on the NBC Peacock does Jack Collinsworth
get before we admit... that the family name is the
thing doing the heavy lifting. All right, so some of
us have already admitted that back when he got that
Notre Dame gig, and you're like, why is he on
the Notre Dame broadcast? That doesn't make any sense. He's
not very good. So spare me the fairy tale that

(13:47):
people over there at NBC just keep discovering the perfect
new role for Jack Collinsworth. Without daddy Chris Collinsworth name,
Jack isn't hosting... sunday night football program not happening he's
selling you know he's doing he's selling bluegrass insurance in
covington kentucky next to strong's brick oven pizzeria where we

(14:10):
had the great mallard meet and greet there beautiful location
nice outdoor patio in the back where dick and dayton
and ohio al performed on stage in front of a
raucous crowd there and the other thing about jack collinsworth
if he wasn't the son of Chris Collinsworth, he would
also not only be part of the insurance company in Covington, Kentucky,
he would also be dominating the softball at the company

(14:33):
softball game. Those are on Wednesday night, and I think
there's one on Sunday night, I think. So this is
the broadcasting version of a legacy admission, repeatedly rewarding mediocrity
in performance. And the family name gets you past security.
And so, like, Notre Dame didn't work. All right, no problem.

(14:54):
Notre Dame didn't work. That's right. Football night in America.
That doesn't work? Okay, don't worry. Don't worry, kid. Daddy's
frequent flyer program, Chris Collinsworth chimes in there, has another
complimentary upgrade waiting for you. And it's nepotism with a
peacock logo slapped on it. Jack Collinsworth not exactly climbing

(15:15):
the broadcasting ladder, standing there holding it while NBC carries
him up the damn thing and that sort of thing.
As I pointed out before, my dad was in radio. Unfortunately,
he wasn't commercial radio. He was in ham radio. If
my dad had been in commercial radio, well, things would
have been much different. The nepotism, even in this business,
there's nepotism. People get these jobs that are like, oh,

(15:37):
my God, how did that person get the job? Well,
you know, his dad knows somebody and all that stuff,
and it is part of the world, not just professional sports,
but broadcasting. And it's, to be fair, it's what happens
pretty much everywhere is a version of that taking place.
It is the Ben Maller Show. If you would like
to opine on any of this, you are more than

(15:59):
welcome to join us here as we'll roll through these
calls at 877-99 on Fox. And we do have Ask
a Weed Man coming up. Our friend Billy in Hollywood, Florida.
sitting by, and he's got his phone. I think he's
online right now. He's ready to go. So if you
want to send a question in, hashtag AskAWeedMan. His name

(16:20):
is Billy. He lives in Hollywood, Florida. He's a part
of the show a couple days a week, and he
was on the podcast on Sunday. Let me ask Lorena.
Has the world been fixed, Lorena? Have we fixed the
world yet? Not yet, but that's why we do this
every week. But he promised us he was going to
fix the world. Slowly but surely. It takes time. But

(16:41):
is the world really any better? Is the world any better?
We've had war breakouts since we started doing this with
another country. You're right. I think it's getting worse. We'll
put him under the spotlight and try to figure out
why things are not getting better. because you have one
segment on Overnight Sports Radio, you should be able to
solve all of life's problems. We don't understand why that
is not happening. We are troubled by that. But that

(17:03):
will be coming up. Hashtag Ask a Weed Man. We'll
get to that. Our friend Billy in the hizzy. And
also later this hour, we have Mallard of the Third Degree.
Got all that for you. We'll get to it, and
we will do it.

Hey, Ben, how you doing?

Speaker 1 (18:52):
Thanks for asking, Anthony. I appreciate that. Really, really kind
of you. I'm sure you'll ask Lorena how she's doing.
And you say hello to Lorena, FSR Tech Queen. Not
some fly-by-night operation. No, no, no, no, no. And if
that was not enough, Koopa Loops right over there. Say
hello to Koop at a Bronco fan. That's a Bronco fan.

Speaker 5 (19:12):
Why doesn't he say hi to Koop?

Speaker 1 (19:15):
I don't know. There might be something Koop's lacking that
you possess, I guess. I don't know what that is. Anyway,
all right. It is the Ben Maller Show as we
are back at it here. We have some questions for
Ask a Weed Man. Let's see. I can't read that.
The Baltimore Freeloaders account writes and says, I would love

(19:36):
to shove a football down Chris Collinsworth's throat. He might
be more annoying than Tom Looney. And then there's the kid.
And if there's one thing I hate more than someone
stepping in front of me in a buffet line, it's nepotism.
That makes me sick. Jack doesn't know Jack. It's also annoying.

(19:58):
The Collinsworth thing. I know it's the family thing where
they leave a letter off the name like Chris Collinsworth
doesn't have the. The H in his name and Jack
doesn't have the K at the end of his name.
And it's just the whole thing's annoying. The whole thing. Annoying, annoying, annoying, annoying.
What else do we have here? Let's see. Can't read

(20:21):
that on the on the air. Not a burner says
it makes me smile when you say the newly canceled
disabled list could have also. brought back the R-word when
discussing the once-proud franchise in the nation's capital, the Redskins. Well,
did you see that the Redskins, they claimed to keep
the copyright. They had to sell some T-shirts with the

(20:43):
Redskins logo. They honored some old players that played for
the Redskins back in the day, and they put it
in the team store. And they claimed it was a
copyright thing, which is legit. I mean, you've got to
sell a certain amount of merchandise or else you lose
copyright to the name. And so they sold these shirts.
They sold out in like a day. Like everyone wanted

(21:03):
to buy this. It would really upset the Wokes here.
So they were like, oh, my God, this is not right.
This is not right. Let's see here. Jill in Minnesota,
she's got her Aaron Judge poster. I guess we update
that fat boy on the wall. How do you expect
Judge to be perfect in his first game? Just stop it, Ben.

(21:25):
I'm just saying. The common protocol is you go to
the minor leagues and judges like, hey, I'm too good.
I'm not going to the minor leagues. Joe the Ghost Hunter,
I haven't heard from him much recently. Joe the Ghost
Hunter says, Big Daddy is right. Superstar Dundee was a
legend in Memphis. Well, good. I was trying to place my,
I don't, in my childhood wrestling Rolodex, which is what

(21:48):
I go by. I'm sure I saw him in some
matches when I was a kid, but he didn't reach
the level of Hulk Hogan or Andre the Giant or
the Macho Man Randy Savage or Ric Flair or Jake
the Snake or any of those guys. So just didn't
reach that particular level. And let's see here. What do
we got here? Let's go. Before we get to Ask

(22:10):
a Weed Man, let's get Andre on in the Commonwealth,
and then we'll get to Ask a Weed Man. Hello, Andre.

Speaker 2 (22:15):
Andre.

Speaker 1 (22:16):
Andre. What's going on, Andre?

Speaker 2 (22:17):
Welcome.

Speaker 4 (22:19):
Not too much, Ben. It's good to be with you.
You know, it's amazing. It's amazing how things change. And
they stay the same. Willis is not on good behavior
as we switch gears.

Speaker 1 (22:32):
You might be getting a call from your neighbors if
Willis continues to bark like this.

Speaker 4 (22:38):
Exactly, exactly. Or he might find himself in timeout, which
we still apply. But, yeah, Ben, what happened? You know,
the summer season, you blink once, you blink twice. And
then it's in the rearview mirror with Labor Day weekend.
But it was a good weekend. You know, folks, decent
weather and everybody kind of feeling good. But we're at

(22:58):
an inflection point here, Ben. As soon as you hit
Labor Day, even though we've got like another month of summer,
you know, we don't have the... official transition to fall
to the end of the month. I mean, as far
as the cave is concerned, you know, we might as
well batten down the hatches and get ready for, you know,
a full force storm. So, we're shifting.

Speaker 1 (23:17):
Well, you love it. Otherwise, you would have moved, right?
You enjoy the weather. You get to complain about the weather, right?
It's good to complain about. It's a nice thing to
bellyache about the weather.

Speaker 2 (23:29):
It is.

Speaker 1 (23:30):
It is.

Speaker 4 (23:30):
And you out there in California... 75 degrees every day,
all day.

Speaker 1 (23:34):
I don't know what you're talking about. We just had
a tropical depression, like barely pass over California with hot, humid,
rainy conditions.

Speaker 4 (23:44):
So what are we talking about? 65 degrees and the
temperature dropped? You have family on the East Coast, so
you know what I'm talking about.

Speaker 1 (23:53):
I hear you.

Speaker 4 (23:53):
We love to complain and we have this early attitude.
But let's get down to business, Ben.

Speaker 1 (23:58):
Here we go. Here we go. Here we go. Here
we go. Here we go.

Speaker 4 (24:02):
Okay. I'm not going to get into your critique of
broadcasters and what they could be doing better, what they
could be doing worse, how they could refine their craft.
So that was interesting. But this Western Michigan situation, since
when did the Big Ten get into the propaganda business?
With that one second they showed, that looked like the
moon landing that they put out there in the late 60s.

(24:24):
One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.
But it looks like it's being, all of the dimensions
are off. That was ridiculous. Everybody saw what we saw. 0-0-0,
ball in the air. Okay, then it comes down. They're
out of bounds. Who the heck cares? Can you just
admit that Michigan is a blue blood and they bring

(24:46):
in billions of dollars so you wanted to give them
a mulligan and we can just all go our separate ways? Now,
I have no idea on that last play. Speaking of broadcasting,
they told you what the heck the play was going
to be before the play. Here's the guy. He's from Utah.
He specializes in jump balls. And then they just ran
that play. So if I'm Western Michigan, I didn't know

(25:06):
why they didn't stay in there, prevent defense, honestly, even
though they got home to Bryce and hit him before
the throw. You have this, it looked like there was
a bunch of smurfs, people my size, and then you
catching the football, Ben.

Speaker 1 (25:17):
No, I know, I know, but they'd already stopped the
Hail Mary. You should not lose on a Hail Mary.
I get it. You should not lose on a Hail Mary,
but they already stopped it to play before the game
was over, and they celebrated Western Michigan, rightfully celebrated their win,
and then they were in shambles. after that but Andre
thank you enjoy the terrible weather there on the Cape

(25:37):
and right now here we go in Hollywood Florida hooray
for Hollywood hooray for Hollywood and welcome in the one
and only man fixing the world one show at a time.

Speaker 2 (25:51):
Let's do it let's change the world make it their
place to.

Speaker 1 (25:55):
Live have you recovered from the mailbag on Sunday have
you recovered.

Speaker 2 (25:59):
From that oh that was great that was so great
how do I listen to.

Speaker 1 (26:02):
It uh well i don't know on your phone it's
on it's called a podcast that was available you go
to the fifth hour podcast so i'd send you a
link to your i'd send you a link to your
email but you don't have emails all right uh just

(26:23):
josh i don't think i can read this question on
the air uh josh you want to know we man
have you ever done anything uh You might regret just
to get some weed. How about that? I'll clean that
up for the radio. Anything out there when you were
living on the streets there, Weed Man, did you ever
have to do something you really didn't want to do
to get the weed?

Speaker 4 (26:40):
No, not really.

Speaker 5 (26:42):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (26:43):
All right. What was Weed Man's favorite toy when he
had his toy shop? That's from Fat Daddy. Fat Daddy something.

Speaker 2 (26:54):
Let's see. There was Stretch Armstrong I liked. There were
plenty of games, and we sold bicycles.

Speaker 1 (27:07):
What about the Cabbage Patch?

Speaker 2 (27:08):
Oh, Cabbage Patch was great. Yeah, sure.

Speaker 1 (27:12):
Yeah, we sold a lot of Cabbage Patch, man. People
lined up for those Cabbage Patch dolls back in the day.

Speaker 2 (27:17):
They sure did, really.

Speaker 1 (27:19):
What about when you were a kid, Weed Man? Did
you play with, like, just rocks and dirt when you
were a kid?

Speaker 2 (27:24):
Yeah, pretty much, yeah.

Speaker 1 (27:27):
I hear you. They didn't invent toys when you were
a kid, right? Analog Al writes in, says, Would you
be upset if they put up a data center near
your cardboard box? It's from Analog Al. Do you know
what a data center is, Weed Man?

Speaker 4 (27:43):
No, no.

Speaker 2 (27:43):
What is that?

Speaker 1 (27:44):
What do you think it is?

Speaker 2 (27:45):
A data center. um where they'd have uh i don't
know job applications or well that.

Speaker 1 (27:57):
Would definitely be troubling if they had a place with
job applications do you know it is a ai which
you have no idea what that is but ai uses
a lot of um servers to track and use all
the data so it happens uh They have these giant
warehouses filled with nothing but processors and all the gadgets

(28:18):
and gizmos and all that, and people complain about it
because it takes up a lot of space and it's
not very nice to look at. It's bad for the environment.
It wastes a lot of water, and they're just completely unnecessary.

Speaker 2 (28:28):
What do you do?

Speaker 1 (28:30):
Technology. There'll be ways to make them better in the future,
but they just keep track. So you don't even know
what AI is, but you type something into AI, and
literally in half a second it'll answer any question you
possibly have.

Speaker 5 (28:42):
So now apparently that's more important than nature.

Speaker 1 (28:45):
Absolutely.

Speaker 2 (28:45):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (28:46):
Andy in Lionel Lakes, Minnesota, writes in and says, Hey, Billy,
do you ever get any notoriety from anyone for being
on the Ben Maler Show? Well, you would have to
leave your house, right? Weed man to get notoriety?

Speaker 2 (28:58):
Yeah, which I never do.

Speaker 1 (29:00):
Yeah, you're a shut-in. Although Purito has taken care of
you over the last couple months, right?

Speaker 2 (29:05):
Purito, please send me some food. That was great.

Speaker 1 (29:09):
I checked in on Perito today. Hanging in there, Perito?
All right, good. King Rory writes in. He says, how
will Weed Man celebrate the 60th anniversary of the first
episode of Star Trek, which aired on this date, September 8th, 1966?
That's from King Rory.

Speaker 2 (29:27):
Wow, I love William Shatner. I love Conker.

Speaker 1 (29:30):
Come on, that's my enemy, man. Come on, dude. Me
and Shatner had a beef. How do you not know this, Weedman?
You were listening to the show when there was a
mutual friend that knows Shatner, and then we got into
a social media dust-up and all that, and somebody paid,
how much money was it? It was like, I think

(29:52):
a few thousand dollars to unblock me on X, to
have Shatner unblock me. Wow.

Speaker 2 (29:58):
I didn't know that happened with you and Shatner.

Speaker 1 (30:01):
Yeah. Big Star Trek guy. Beam me up, Scotty. You
like that? Beam me up, Scotty.

Speaker 2 (30:06):
Beam me up, Scotty.

Speaker 1 (30:09):
All right, here we go. This is the big one
from Bozo, the district attorney, writing in. Your friend Bozo.

Speaker 2 (30:14):
Bozo the clown.

Speaker 1 (30:15):
You love Bozo. In easy money, Rodney Dangerfield had to
go a year without drinking, smoking, and gambling to get
a $ 10 million inheritance. What's the longest you've ever gone
without smoking a joint, Weed Man? And would you go
smoke-free for a year if it meant getting $ 10 million?

Speaker 4 (30:36):
Absolutely, of course.

Speaker 2 (30:39):
Are you joking? Of course I would. Definitely.

Speaker 1 (30:43):
How would you handle that? You smoke two joints in
the morning. You smoke two joints at night. You smoke
a lot of weed, Weed Man.

Speaker 4 (30:50):
I do.

Speaker 2 (30:50):
I don't know what I would do, but of course,
for $ 10 million, I would stop.

Speaker 1 (30:54):
So you would be able to stop. Okay. All right.
Very good. Mark the Walker writes in. He says, which
came first, Weed Man, the planet or the seed?

Speaker 4 (31:04):
Hmm.

Speaker 1 (31:05):
Things that make you go, hmm.

Speaker 2 (31:09):
The seed, definitely, though.

Speaker 1 (31:12):
The seed, he said, not the sea, but the seed.

Speaker 2 (31:15):
Hmm, I thought that would make more sense. The seed
would definitely come first.

Speaker 1 (31:20):
All right. Was it the plant or the seed? No,
he said, oh, my God, this is not good. Let
me punch it up again here. Which came first, the
plant or the seed?

Speaker 2 (31:31):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (31:31):
Yeah, yeah. So I think I said that.

Speaker 2 (31:33):
Yeah, the seed, definitely.

Speaker 1 (31:35):
He said planted. Oh, did I say planted?

Speaker 3 (31:37):
All right.

Speaker 4 (31:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (31:38):
There you go. Here's one from Mike on the mail.
He emailed this. He says, Weedman, are you sad that
McDonald's is ditching disposable cups for dine-in customers, but only
in the Netherlands? Are you concerned about that, Weedman?

Speaker 2 (31:54):
No, I have no McDonald's near me at all. I
haven't gone to McDonald's in a very long time.

Speaker 1 (32:01):
Now, when you say around you, is that like in
a two-block area around you? You know what I mean?

Speaker 2 (32:09):
Yeah, yeah. No McDonald's anywhere near me.

Speaker 1 (32:14):
Are you sure about that? You're positive?

Speaker 2 (32:18):
No.

Speaker 1 (32:19):
I'm looking here, and I think there is a McDonald's
in Hollywood, Florida. Pretty sure there is. More than one location.
You're claiming there's not, though.

Speaker 2 (32:31):
I haven't seen.

Speaker 1 (32:33):
Any at all. All right. Let's see. 5835 Hollywood Boulevard, Hollywood, Florida.
According to the McDonald's website, there is a McDonald's. How
about that?

Speaker 2 (32:44):
5835 Hollywood Boulevard.

Speaker 1 (32:50):
Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood, Florida. I'm looking at it right here.
It's near the Hollywood Beach Gardens area. There's Beverly Park
over there. You don't know what any of this stuff is,
even though you live there. It's not that far from
the hot. Well, it's right there.

Speaker 3 (33:06):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (33:07):
I'll look.

Speaker 1 (33:08):
You're never far away from a Starbucks.

Speaker 2 (33:10):
Or a McDonald's.

Speaker 1 (33:11):
You know what I'm saying? Not in America, you're not.
FergDog says, I go to Lorena for advice about love,
not data centers. All right, so there you go. FergDog
saying he loves data. Oh, but I have so much
facts about data centers.

Speaker 5 (33:30):
If you want to learn more and get smarter, feel
free to ask. All right.

Speaker 1 (33:34):
I'll just AI it and find out what the answer is.
All right, let's see. What else do we have? What
else do we have for you, Weedman? All right, how
about this one? This is from Steve sent this one in,
Parts Unknown. He says, Weedman, a guy stole a $ 90, 000
BMW pretending to be an NBA player. Have you ever

(33:56):
pretended to be someone and successfully stolen something?

Speaker 2 (34:01):
No, I wish I could say it.

Speaker 1 (34:03):
You've never met him?

Speaker 2 (34:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (34:05):
Yeah, this guy, I saw this story the other day
that this guy's talking about. So this guy pretended to
be a black dude. He's kind of a tall guy,
and he pretended to be a basketball player. I guess
this was at a hotel in Savannah, Georgia. And the
valet gave him the key to this 2026 BMW, like
all loaded up.

Speaker 2 (34:26):
Yeah, he's dead.

Speaker 1 (34:28):
Well, no, it's not great for the person that owned
the BMW. It's not. So you've never. So you're not
really a con man weed man, right? You're not.

Speaker 2 (34:41):
No, no, no. I wouldn't steal a big car, no.

Speaker 1 (34:46):
You've never stolen anything. Exactly.

Speaker 2 (34:48):
No, no, not really.

Speaker 1 (34:50):
Even when you were at your lowest living on Lincoln
Road there in Miami and you had no money and
you were just kind of out there on the streets,
you never stole anything.

Speaker 2 (34:58):
No, there was a McDonald's right there on Lincoln Road, though.
That was good.

Speaker 1 (35:04):
So you were in a better situation, not where you
have a roof over your head in Hollywood, Florida, but
when you were out in Miami there on Lincoln Road
because you had McDonald's. So that was a better situation.

Speaker 2 (35:13):
Well, I did like Lincoln Road. You know that. I understand.

Speaker 1 (35:16):
You loved Lincoln Road, and you would have stayed there.
You probably would still be on Lincoln Road if they
hadn't taken you off the streets. Kathy in Madison writes
and says... She's listening to the Ben Maller Show here
in Hollywood, Florida. Says, Weed Man, how can I get
a QR code for Purito so I can fundraise with
my mandolin? All right. So I guess she wants in

(35:41):
on Purito as well. So there you go. All right,
Weed Man, we got to go. Thank you so much.
You've fixed the world here. All right. Be well. Thank you.
There you go. There's the one and only. Weed Man Hippie.
It is the Ben Maller Show. Time now for the
Instad Trivia. And here it is. Blank was an NFL

(36:02):
legend whose initials actually didn't stand for anything. He became
instantly recognizable back in the day for wearing gold-colored high-top cleats.
which were great until the NFL eventually spoiled the gold
shoe party with a bunch of fines. His nickname was
Hollywood Bags. Again, blank NFL legend from back in the day.

(36:24):
His initials did not stand for anything. He became instantly
recognizable for wearing gold-colored high-top cleats before the NFL eventually
spoiled that. gold shoe party with a bunch of fines.
His nickname was Hollywood bags. That's the instant trivia. The
answer and get to it. We'll do it next.

Speaker 3 (36:42):
Fox sports radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at Fox sports,
radio.com and within the I heart radio app, search F
S R to listen live.

Speaker 1 (36:54):
The Ben Maller show on Fox sports radio. As we
roll on through the overnight hanging out, you are part
of the fun. And you can join us in a
little bit. We'll give out the number later. On X,
at Ben Maller. That's at Ben Maller. We have Maller,
the third degree. That'll be coming up in a little bit.
We look forward to that. That'll be just a few

(37:15):
minutes away. In the meantime, you can follow the YouTube
page at Ben Maller Show. That's at Ben Maller Show
if you'd like to be part of the live program.
And we thank you. in advance there on X and
on the YouTube page. You can follow, as I said,
at Ben Maller Show for all that.

(37:35):

And with that, we
pay off the Insta trivia. Here it is, the Insta
trivia question. Blank was an NFL legend whose initials did
not actually stand for anything. He became instantly recognizable for
wearing gold-colored high-top cleats before the NFL said Ixnay on
the gold shoe partay. And his nickname was Hollywood Bags.

(37:59):
That's the question. What's the answer? Let's see. Does anyone
know the answer? We go to the great unwashed here.
And it's ALF, the Guaranteed Human Opiner, guest by Malapropguy.
Garfield from the aforementioned ALF. Goldmember from Mark. JT the
Wingman went with BS for Blown Save is his answer.

(38:21):
Joe Jerevicius from Rob in Minnesota. Baltimore Colt legend Joe
Washington from Greg the Real Estate Mogul. Lumpy Rutherford from
Kev Atomic. Fat Daddy got it right. Bad job by him.
Do you have an answer, Lorena?

Speaker 2 (38:35):
Quickly!

Speaker 3 (38:35):
TJ Hooker.

Speaker 1 (38:37):
No, that's Shatner. No, it's L.C. Greenwood of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
High end curtain defense back in the day. Here we go.
Here we go. Here we go. How about that?

Speaker 3 (38:49):
To the third degree. This is when Big Ben gets grilled.

Speaker 1 (38:54):
Koopa Loop.

Speaker 5 (38:56):
Over the weekend, Arizona State was blowing out Morgan State
70-7 when the two teams agreed to shorten the fourth
quarter to 10 minutes.

Speaker 1 (39:04):
Do you think this is something that NFL teams should
be able to do? No, that's like a youth sports
type thing. No, there should never be that big a
gap between NFL teams. And with gambling, you can't do that.
So no, no, no, no, no, no, no. On every level, no.
It's only early season college football when you have these

(39:26):
money games. Next.

Speaker 5 (39:28):
A report over the weekend says that Artie Murray was
affected by negative chants from Angels fans and that it
played a role in his decision to sell the team.
Are you buying that?

Speaker 1 (39:37):
I am not buying that. He obviously didn't want to
be booed. Nobody wants to be booed. The reason he
sold the team, though, was he got the godfather offer
by Stan Kroenke. If Stan Kroenke hadn't given him that offer,
the Angels would still be completely controlled by Artie Marino.
They still technically are. The sale won't be official until
next year. that makes for a good story i don't
buy it next.

Speaker 5 (39:58):
According to a report from the athletic exploratory talks are
underway about building a new stadium near marysville washington for
the eventual return of the nba to the seattle area
but if you had to guess when will we actually
see the first nba game back in seattle.

Speaker 1 (40:11):
All right so we're sitting here it's 2026 i am
going to say that the supersonics will take the court
by 2032 at the latest So in the next six years,
they'll add Seattle and Vegas. How did we do, Koopaloop?
You passed this edition. That is a win. You can
put it on the board.

Speaker 5 (40:28):
Winner, winner, winner.

Speaker 1 (40:30):
Chicken dinner.
