Speaker 2 (00:25):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (00:28):
Oh what is going on? Happy late night hours to you.
Appreciate you checking out the show. The militias checking in
over here. I love that. By the way, shout out
to late night drug tester. I was just looking at
the who am I responses, and he just put you
are Jennifer Garner, who is fifty four today, and he's

(00:51):
got a gift you go gift for Jeff. I've gone
back and forth many times, Giff. I think it's a
I say, Jeff, you go. I was team Jeff for
a while and now because it's graphic gif right, seems
like more seems like more gift to me, So I
switched over team gift. Now. I don't know what it is,

(01:12):
but anyway you put logic to it, that's what you did. Yeah,
he's got a gift or Jiff whatever of Jennifer Gardner. Man.
She looks beautiful. I can't believe this girl is fifty four.
That's insane. Now, obviously this gift Jiff, we'll just say both,
was from well before fifty four. But I'm sure she

(01:34):
still looks FANTASTICA she's still in those Capitol one commercials.
Looks great. You know what. I bet she moisturizes. I
bet that's what's going on right there. Yeah, she moisturized.
Moisturizes is one of the topics off the air a
second ago. Men don't moisturize. They need to. We do,
We do need to. That's a that's a flun You

(01:56):
know what happens to me. I don't know what's with me,
but anytime that I put lotion on my face, inevitably
my eyes will burn like the world is coming to
an end. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Aren't
you too close to your eyeballs? Like I told my
sister this, She's like, I what I use I put

(02:17):
it on my eyes on purpose, like I put it everywhere? No, no,
And she's like, they don't burn it all. So I
don't know maybe I just maybe I'm weak. Maybe I
don't have a tolerance. You know how people have a
like an alcohol tolerance. Maybe I just don't have a
lotion on your face tolerance. I don't know. Yeah, I'm
just confused because I always see lotion at my male
friend's house, but they all have really dry skin. So

(02:37):
I just don't understand. We don't bother man. We just
don't do it. We don't like. It's just not a
thing for us. Guys don't care about hardly anything. To
get a guy to care is like it might be
a Guinness World record if we just care outside of
things that you normally care about. I care about sports,

(02:59):
I care about music, I care about guitar, I care
about sports, betting. You know, you get outside of those
core categories. I don't care about hardly anything ever, Like
so to be for me to be like, you know,
I got a I gotta moisturize, Like just that's that
how guys are. It's not how we are. We're just

(03:19):
not like that, not what we do, it's not how
we think, not how we operate. We're weird. I don't
know what to say, but yeah, the care factor, we
just don't have that chromosome or something. I don't know,
but I gotta tell you about a story here that
is just fantastic, And I'll try to keep it somewhat
short so I can get to the militia here because

(03:40):
some people want to check in. I can't believe this
is even true, so I have to read the first
line just word for word. The story says this, a
former Alabama football player faces charges of wire fraud and
identity theft after he alleged used wigs and fake driver's

(04:04):
licenses plural to impersonate NFL players for the purpose of
securing nearly twenty million dollars in loans. This is a
real story, is the real thing. So there's this guy,
Luther Davis. So Luther Davis. He is a former player

(04:25):
at Alabama. Okay, I believe this is where uh Luther Davis.
Let me let me get all these ducks in a
row over here. He he was a top one fifty
high school prospect in the ESPN recruiting rankings. He played
defensive end at Alabama from seven to twenty ten. He

(04:46):
made forty seven tackles. He won a championship in the
nine season. So he played d line at Alabama, made
a handful of tackles. No like huge impact player, but
he played in Alabama, right, So, so what Luther Davis
is up to now? He he's got a partner, CJ Evans.

(05:08):
So what Luther Davis, the former Alabama football player, and
CJ Evans did. They just impersonated three NFL players to
lock down these monstrous loans. So Davis. The first time
they did this, this was in January of twenty twenty four. Okay,

(05:28):
so Davis allegedly wore makeup and a wig to impersonate
Cleveland Brown's tight end David in Joku. So he shows up,
you know, this whole thing, and he closes a loan
for four million dollars. It was in January of twenty
twenty four. So you know, Luther Davis and his partner

(05:50):
CJ Evans, they're like, score, let's go, let's let's try
to get another loan. So they do this a couple
of months later. This is April first. This is not
an April Fool's Day joke. They did again on April first,
and this time they impersonated another NFL player. That would
be Packers' safety Xavier McKinney. So Davis dresses up and

(06:13):
acts like he's Xavier McKinney. He gets a four point
four million dollar loan. Then in July of twenty twenty four,
Davis does this again. He shows up impersonating Falcons quarterback
Michael Pennix, and he secures a three point three million
dollar promisory note. And apparently he showed up to this

(06:36):
meeting wearing a quote unquote do rag style head covering.
Now that was a nice touch. Michael Pennix, he is
fond of rocking the do rags. He will wear that commonly.
And so to get in character Davis, He's like, all right,
the do rag it is, I gotta impersonate Michael Pennix

(06:56):
to secure this loan. So now they're in high water,
like Davis's his partner over here and the alleged crimes. CJ. Evans,
his attorney, told ESPN in an email on Thursday that
its client is scheduled deplete guilty. It's like, yeah, we're

(07:17):
just we're gonna just complete guilty on this thing, and
truly not many arguments we can make. We're just kind
of busted here. So it's not looking good for Luther
Davis and CJ Evans. But what a story. You know
what it tells me here, this is what this is
my major takeaway here. Not enough people who love sports

(07:37):
have jobs and fields that have nothing to do with sports. Okay,
that's what it tells me. Whoever was in charge at
these establishments that fell for this stuff. If I was
working at a bank, at some sort of loan institution
and someone rolled in there and it was like, hey,

(07:58):
I'm Michael Pennix, I'm like Michael Pennix, the quarterback, the guy.
If you go back to July of twenty twenty four,
so Michael Pennix junior earlier that year in January was
just in the National Championship game with the Washington Huskies.
They lost to Michigan, but he was on a big stage, right.

(08:20):
He had just gotten drafted. He's a top ten pick,
a huge surprise, goes to the Falcons, number eight overall.
Like his picture is everywhere, his face is everywhere in
the NFL circles. If I worked at that lone establishment
place and there's this guy who's really Luther Davis and
he's like, yeah, I'm Michael Pennix, I'd be like the

(08:43):
quarterback you're Michael Pennix. I would have been like, hold
on a second. I would have walked out and been like,
we got a six thirty two in progress. Six thirty
two and I would have walked in and been like,
how's the name, Mike, how's it right? Like there's no way,
like whoever fell for that? It's just not an NFL fan.
You just don't follow football. You're just not a football fan.

(09:04):
I could see if you didn't know exactly what Xavier
McKinney looked like, okay to pull off to David and Joku. Look,
I mean, I don't know how big Luther Davis is,
how strong he is, like David and Joku is built
like a Greek god. And I don't know that Luther Davis,

(09:25):
who's last He last played in twenty ten for Alabama,
you know, like in twenty twenty for fourteen years, you
think Luther still looks like a David and Joku type
Greek god. I doubt it. So that's that's the takeaway.
We don't have enough NFL fans in jobs that have
nothing to do with sports. I feel like companies should

(09:47):
should look at this and learn a lesson from this.
Right where it's like, yeah, we got to conduct interviews
a little bit differently. You should look at the work history,
like all right, okay, graduated from this college. Good, all right,
you've worked in the field for wow, like over a decade?
Then pretty nice? Are you an NFL fan? By the way,
And if they say no, like you just gotta let

(10:09):
them go. You said, like, we might need an NFL
fan here or there. I don't say you do that
with every single interview, but from time to time, I
think that's got to be part of the criteria, right,
Otherwise you wouldn't be given out four million dollar loans
three point three million dollar loans for a guy that
looks nothing like Michael Pennix. What are we doing here?

(10:30):
That's amazing, man. They did this a ton of times.
They let's see where it is, thirteen fake loans, thirteen
fake loans. I don't know who else they impersonated, what
else they had going on? For more than nineteen point
eight million dollars, almost twenty million dollars they secured by

(10:51):
they're just thrown on wigs and like, I'll be Michael Penicks,
I'm gonna need a do rag for this. Definitely gonna
need that. And we should be able to pull it off. Fine, believable, crazy,
what a story right there. But they had everything else.
I guess that's what they did. They just built up
credibility with the story. Says they created fabricated personal financial statements,

(11:19):
Secretary of state documents, bank statements for companies purportedly operated
by the players, fake email addresses, the whole thing. But like,
I just can't get past someone who looks nothing like
Michael Pennix posing as Michael Pennix, you know what I mean?
Like that just that's a baseline thing.

Speaker 4 (11:42):
Man.

Speaker 3 (11:42):
Wow, crazy, but I'm curious how this is gonna work out.
He's not looking great again, the partner C. J. Evans,
his attorney says, he's going to plead guilty. So that's
not great. So maybe plea agreement, maybe reduced time, but
not looking great. We're talking, you know, fraud. They start adding, Oh,

(12:06):
there's this, you're probably gonna be guilty of this and
this and that's h's not looking great. But wow, what
a wild story. Unbelievable. I think you just need more
in NFL fans, need more NFL fans and your your
your place of business right there. I'll say this if

(12:26):
you can look around whatever business you have, right you
you work on cars, right, you got a body shop business.
If you don't have a diehard NFL fan in the
body shop, it's time to get one time. You never know,
you never know what's gonna happen. If you're at a
loan office. That's the major. If you're at a loan office,
get you an NFL fan and you will not be

(12:48):
falling for this hoo hook line and sinker man, because
that's just that's flat out embarrassing right there. Goodness, what
are we doing here? Let me get out to the militia.
Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox is your number.
Daniel is in Anaheim. Want to hear what Daniel has
to say? What's going on?

Speaker 2 (13:03):
Dan?

Speaker 3 (13:03):
You're on Fox Sports Radio?

Speaker 5 (13:05):
Yo, thank you, thanks for the you know, yeah, entertaining
a radio right here. And I heard you guys talk
about Mike try here, and you mentioned all these other
players and stuff. And I'm not just talking about my
try here. I want to call about Kelly Janson. But
since he talked about like Trout, he's the first ever
visiting player to home. We're in four straight games days

(13:28):
at Yankee Stadium. Aside from hitting the five home runs.
But I really called about Kelly Jansen here and what
he did over the weekend. Everyone's getting away with his
Yankees game and Judge, Judge amazing versus Trout. But Kelly
Jenson here, he got four seventy nine saves career saves.

(13:49):
Out of the six active leaders Kelly Jannsen, Grank Grimble,
rold As Chapman, Edwin Diaz, Regio Glacias, and Josh Hater,
Jansen leads to four under seventy nine saves and one
hundred and nine plus career shaves over the next active leader,
and he's the third. He has the third most saves
in the history of MLB. Along with that, he also

(14:11):
has he's also the leader in the stack cast era
amongst active players and just amongst players in general in
the stack cast era, and he has one hundred and
twelve plus saves over the next best guy in the
stack cast era. And really, if you ever go see
this guy, and everyone talk about Tony and Trout and

(14:32):
blah blah and even a role of this shopman, but
he ever have a chance to see Jensen out there,
He's got He is Elvis and in my opinion. It's
a very underrated story that not a lot of people
talking about. And he like I'm saying, I don't think
in many years we will see another Kenley Jansen and

(14:56):
the stack cast era. Anybody beat that record in the
stack caast era. He is amazing. He's a master of masters.
And you know, thanks for the time, and yeah.

Speaker 3 (15:07):
No, good stuff, man, good stuff, Daniel, appreciate you checking in. Wow,
that's wild. When he's rattling off this stuff, I'm like
searching and like, holy hell, he's closing in on five
hundred saves. Ken Lee Janssen, Really when did that happen?
Like past my guy, Lee Smith, Craig Kimberl. He's right,
he's third on the all time saves list. We've got

(15:29):
two guys in the six hundred club. We got Mariano
Rivera and Trevor Hoffman's that's it. That's the only two
guys in the six hundred saves club in Major League
Baseball history. And nobody is in the five hundred. No
one's other than those guys reaching six hundred. No one's
even reached five hundred. But ken Lee Jansen closing in,

(15:51):
He's right, like not that far away from five hundred saves.
That's wild. I'll tell you this, It's funny. There are
guys that have the reputation. There are guys that have
the notoriety. You know, a rolled this Chapman who's well
down the list, like over one hundred saves less than
ken Lee Jansen. He doesn't have the longevity, doesn't have

(16:13):
the same stats over his career, but he had the
wow factor, right, the wow factor of e Roaldist Chapman
of like, oh my gosh, who can hit this freaking guy?
When he was in his prime, he had the wow factor.
And ken Lee Jansen the body of work speaks for itself.
And I'm not the only one who's like, when did

(16:35):
this happen? When was I not paying attention to? Right?
Like he just he didn't do it in a way
where you had the wow factor, not the same way
as Chapman. And you can play that game with a
lot of different closers. But I'm not trying to take
take anything away from him. I'm just trying to explain
why that seems like such a surprise to me, and

(16:57):
I'm sure to a lot of people, even hardcore baseball,
they might appreciate him. But man, I remember when Kenley Jansen,
and this really is meant as a compliment. I remember
when Kenley Jansen started struggling for a brief time, big time,
and give him props. He rebounded. He's found his stuff again.
And there are a lot of closers that man, once

(17:19):
it goes, it freaking goes, they can never get it
back to even close to the same level that they
were at. But Kenley Jansen has done that. Man, shout
out to Daniel Man. He's rattling off a lot of
good stuff in that call. But I am shocked. Ken
Lee Jansen is almost at five hundred saves and there

(17:40):
are two guys that have reached that mark in the
history of MLB. He could be the third to reach
five hundred. That's insane. But yeah, I don't know. I
think that stats and impressions are two very different things.
And even though Kenley Jansen has the stats, he just
doesn't have that wow factor, you know, Elvis, the Elvis thing.

(18:05):
It's like, no, he's not He's got the Elvis stats, right,
that's fine, But the Elvis like notoriety, like wow factor, No,
it's not there. And I'm sorry to say that Daniel's
probably cursing me right now, but that was a great call,
great information right there. I'm just trying to explain why

(18:26):
it's surprising he's gotten to that level. A lot of
people don't know that, me being one of them. All right,
eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox is your phone
number coming up next? I believe this guy is a
poor man's version of a pretty good quarterback who's got
some big time wartz. I'll tell you about that right

(18:48):
around the corner. I'm probably knowing for big Ben Malor
keep it locked right here on Fox Sports Radio.

It is Fox Sports Radio. I'm probably no in for
Big Ben Malor. For over forty years, tire Rex has
been helping customers find the right tires for how, what
and where they drive, ship fast and free back by
free road hazard protection with convenient installation options like mobile tireinstallation,
tirerack dot Com. The way tire buying should be. Yeah,

(19:56):
So I'll give you an NFL draft thought, and I'll
get out to the militia. Here. My guy Gunner, my
guy Gunner in Minnesota. I haven't talked to Gunner in
a little bit, so I don't want to ramble too
long because I want to. I want to catch up
with him. I want to see how uh how how
many games it's gonna take the Timberwolves to dispatch of,

(20:17):
not just the Nuggets, not just the Spurs, not just
the Thunder, not just whoever comes out of the East.
I need to I need to get the whole breakdown
from Gunner here with the Timberwolves love. We'll get that
in a couple of minutes here. But my thought real
fast on the NFL draft, Ty Simpson, the Alabama quarterback.

(20:40):
There's gonna be a decent amount of talk Draft Night
Thursday night. Should he go in the first round. I
don't think he should. I see him as a poor
man's Jared Goff from this standpoint. And let me be
clear here, because I'm not saying Jared Goff stinks. Jared
Goff puts puts up numbers. Man, He's put up huge

(21:02):
numbers in multiple seasons. So I'm not saying Jared Goff
sucks or anything like that. But the part of his
game that is trash is whenever he is facing a
pass rush, whenever the pass rush starts to put some
heat on him, not good. Not a good thing, A

(21:24):
very very bad thing. That's what I see from ty Simpson.
Ty Simpson, he started off pretty well last season. He
was playing some good football, very accurate throws, with anticipation, decisive,
all of that. And then later in the season the
pass rush started to get home a little bit more,
a little bit more, and he was a fish out

(21:44):
of water. So I don't see him as a first
round talent. I mean, time will tell if that's correct
or not. This is just a personal opinion. This doesn't
mean it's set in stone or anything. But I just
don't see Ty Simpson as a big difference man. But
you're gonna get a lot of talk. There are a
bunch of mock drafts like, oh, the Steelers should draft

(22:06):
Ty Simpson, And it's like, why to have a guy
who's a lesser version of of Jared Goff overall in
terms of production stats, numbers, and is worse under pressure
in my opinion. So if you're struggling under pressure in college,
what do you think is gonna happen in the NFL?

(22:28):
You think he's just gonna flourish all of a sudden.
I just don't think that's happening. So as much talk
as there is about oh, you gotta draft tys Simpson,
I'm like, yeah, you really don't. You really really don't.
Not in the first round. I wouldn't draft him in
the second round either. I'm just not high on ty Simpson.
I don't think he's that good and he's not that

(22:49):
experienced either. That's the other thing. He hasn't played very
much at all. So you've got a guy that has
some obvious drawbacks, not performing well at all under pressure,
and he doesn't have that many reps under his belt. Either.
So if you're thinking about trading back up into the
first round to get Ty Simpson. There some people say

(23:11):
the Arizona Cardinals should do that, trade back into the
first round draft Ty Simpson, And look, man, I get it.
I totally understand. You gotta find a quarterback in the NFL.
If you don't have a legitimate quarterback, you are screwed.
It's not happening. You're not going anywhere. So I understand
the thought process of, hey man, we're just trying to

(23:32):
get a hit. You're not gonna get a hit if
you don't swing the bat, all right, So you gotta
draft a quarterback. Take your chances. Hopefully it works out.
I get that. But also it can't just be a
wish and a prayer, you know, hope is not a strategy, right, Like,
only this guy is that good, but maybe we're wrong.

(23:53):
Let's draft them anyway. The guy has attempted in college
five hundred and twenty three passes. That is it. That
is not a lot. There's not a lot of attempts.
It's not a lot of reps, not a lot of starts,
not a lot of anything in college. So now I'm
just not I'm not a big believer in ty Simpson.

(24:15):
So we'll see see if he goes in the first
round and more importantly, if he pans out whenever he
gets drafted with whoever he's drafted by. But I just
I don't know, man, not a big fan. I don't.

Speaker 2 (24:29):
I don't.

Speaker 3 (24:30):
I don't see you know, stardom or you know, viable starter.
I just don't see that from ty Simpson. But hey,
I've been wrong before. I'll be wrong plenty of times
going forward. Maybe I'm wrong about this, but that's my
that's my best guess. I was gonna play out, okay,
as promised Gunner in Minnesota. I want to hear what
old Gunner has to say about these timber Wolves as

(24:52):
the NFL playoffs are right around the corner. What is
going on, Gunner? How you doing tonight?

Speaker 6 (24:57):
You don't get it's been a while there, Brian, It's
been a while.

Speaker 3 (25:00):
It's been a long time, Gunner. I've missed you, Yeah,
talked to you.

Speaker 6 (25:05):
I don't know. It's been down before the All Star
Game when I said cat with the win three point contest.

Speaker 3 (25:12):
It might be right. Yeah, it was a long time ago.

Speaker 6 (25:17):
Yeah, I'm saying this right now. Nuggets are in trouble.
It's will be five games series at least there, gentleman
sweep spurred inexperience. I might give them six games under
we get a pay back for last year. Take that
six and he's will be a no problems there.

Speaker 2 (25:41):
Okay, I'm just right now.

Speaker 3 (25:43):
All right, So you know we get rid of the
Nuggets in five a gentleman's sweep. Huh, Like you Timberwolves
are banked up right now, Julius Randalls banged up, McDaniel's
banged up. You got you guys aren't healthy enough to
be just running through teams in a gentleman's sweep right now, Gunner.

Speaker 6 (26:00):
Uh, I'm I'm not worried about this. We have a
good bench this year, then, and we got Kyle Anderson back.
We yeah, I would assume he's he's barking this deep
in this team that I've been waiting for to have.

Speaker 7 (26:16):
We got.

Speaker 6 (26:17):
McDaniels is gonna be hopefully hopefully healthy. We need him
fully healthy. Golbert is healthy, not injured. He's playing one
of the best defense right now. Edwards just as a
keep up injury and one more thing, go to football

(26:37):
real quick. Okay, Carolina needs a backup quarterback and Kenny
Ticket is not it you think they're a track in
the first round.

Speaker 3 (26:48):
Man, I don't think they just need a backup quarterback.
I think they need a starting quarterback.

Speaker 6 (26:52):
Over there, you guys get breaks down the chance. He's
he's got he's got something. And I'm seeing this right now.
I'm seeing the future of a couple of Super bowls
for him. Because we always build our own mind. We
spend the most money on the old mine. We've got
to keep our line healthy. We have weapons on each

(27:15):
side of him. We have one of the best defenses now,
two of the best corners in the league. We just
signed too great on two great defensive players on the
off season. I'm seeing the team going somewhere this year. Wow,
at least twelve or thirteen wins.

Speaker 3 (27:31):
Are you a better at all? Gunner? Do you you
bet on sports? Ever? I do?

Speaker 6 (27:36):
I do here and there?

Speaker 3 (27:37):
Yeah, man, I'll tell you what U If you parlayed
the Timberwolves winning a championship this season with the Carolina
Panthers winning a Super Bowl this upcoming season, that would
be quite yeah right there. Yeah, you could read.

Speaker 6 (27:54):
Yes, I wouldn't be I wouldn't have to probably work
anymore that.

Speaker 3 (27:58):
You could just go on the spot. Yeah, you could
do the old FU F you, F you, you're cool,
you know, f you, I'm out of here. You can
do that. You can half baked in real life.

Speaker 6 (28:09):
And the problem is my mom's a Rear fan.

Speaker 3 (28:13):
And really okay, it's tough for her.

Speaker 6 (28:17):
Watching games, but she's also a Thunder fan.

Speaker 3 (28:21):
That balances things out pretty good, right there.

Speaker 6 (28:24):
Yeah, man, Yeah, it was tough last year playing pint
each other in the conference fires.

Speaker 7 (28:32):
That was tough.

Speaker 3 (28:33):
Yeah, And she was like in your face, Gunner. Is
that what she was saying during the games?

Speaker 6 (28:39):
Oh, we'd except room, That's all I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (28:44):
Man.

Speaker 6 (28:45):
I was TV is clot Andre another on this ridiculous
stop boxes get out of here. He's retired.

Speaker 3 (28:55):
That's great man. Well, hey, good luck to you in
the playoffs, Gunner. I can't sign off on these bold
predictions of yours Timberwolves winning it all, you know, cakewalk
against whoever comes out of the East after dispatching of
the Nuggets and five and both the Spurs and the
Thunder and six games, apiece. I can't sign off on this,
but we'll see how it shakes out. Gunner. It's good

(29:16):
to hear. Remember, yeah, you said the Panthers were gonna
sneak into the playoffs and win the cesspool. That was
the NFC South That that's way more mile and you know,
Timberwolves gonna win it all this.

Speaker 6 (29:35):
Remember that, Well, yeah, you had that in there.

Speaker 3 (29:37):
That's true. Still, it's a far cry from Timberwolves win
it all this season. It's a far cry.

Speaker 6 (29:44):
All right, we'll see, all right.

Speaker 3 (29:46):
We'll see how it goes. Good stuff, Gunner. I appreciate
you checking in, man. I like that. I like the
you know, hey, we'll see. I love that. You know,
if there was only some like at least friendly smack
talk with the you know, Gunner's mom just being like, yeah,
you like Shay Gilt, just Alexandri you know whatever, they

(30:08):
just you know, and Gunner's just living and dying with
his Timberwolves. You know, like, oh gosh, we're right there.
We're giving them a good game, we're giving them a
good series. We could just get some outside shooting from
ant we'd be in this thing. And then she just
has to hear. You have to hear, you know, Mama, Gunner.

(30:28):
That's what we do. Jalen Williams, get busy, you know whatever,
just smack talk the whole time. Some say that's what
keeps a family together, right there, healthy smack talk. My
guy Manuel is in Gardena. I haven't heard from him
in a little while. Man, Well, what's going on, buddy?
How are things?

Speaker 6 (30:47):
Ah?

Speaker 7 (30:47):
There's a million stars in the sky, but the only
star that we care about is the one that's on
the Fox Sports Mike tonight. It's my man, Brian. No,
I'm doing well. How you doing?

Speaker 5 (30:59):
Man?

Speaker 3 (30:59):
Thanks are good? Things are even better when I get
shout outs from you. Man, I'll tell you what. No
one rolls out the red carpet like you do. Man.

Speaker 7 (31:06):
Oh man, you know I heard you about the guests
filling stuff earlier.

Speaker 5 (31:12):
You know we love you.

Speaker 4 (31:13):
Know.

Speaker 7 (31:13):
I believe you won the Benny this year, if I'm correct,
So yeah, man, congratulations here you won the many so he.

Speaker 3 (31:25):
I think it was. I think it was a sympathy vote. Manuel.
I'm gonna be honest, it was sympathy vote. But you
know what, I happily accept.

Speaker 7 (31:31):
Happily accept now, brother Malard Militia, don't play you. You
won that fair and square, hey, real quick. I'm glad
that you missed the Gunner ak swing shot because I
know none of the Mallard militia did. Feel free to
take a few more months off, Gunner. We're not really
missing that unhyped call that you do every other week.

(31:54):
And as far as Carolina, my man, David Canal is
who I personally know was the one who made that happen,
not you, Gunner, so stop patting himself on the back
for being a fan of a great team with a
great coach. But it had nothing to do with you,
my man. Sorry. So getting back to the situation, and

(32:15):
I know I was calling too man, because I've been
digging the college tonight. Man, I don't know if this
guy forgets about Kenny Jansen in the twenty twenty World
Series up. Well, I guess the Dodgers did, because he
wasn't the closer, you know. I mean, we love him.
He got that championship ring, but we still had nightmares
from twenty seventeen and twenty eighteen and his closing. So

(32:39):
that's wish is to the guy. Like you said, I
do have to give him a big shout out because
he reinvented himself and after the struggles with the Dodgers.
Not only did he go to the Braves and now
he's been with the Angels and he's been doing this thing. Man,
So congratulation to him. But I'm not exactly Eric ganiy
is always going to be my man when it comes
to the Dodgers, you know what I'm saying in the closers.
But hey, no, you just want to check in your

(33:01):
love you my man? Hey, you take here, all right?

Speaker 3 (33:04):
All right? You too? Manuel, great stuff. Manuel is the best.
He really is. Tell you what you know. There are
trolls here and there. You know, in sports radio, you
get someone you know, they'll tweet you and be like
you suck, You're the worst. Manuel. He balances that out. Man.
He does an awesome job. I love that. By the way.
Real fastest is to throw a couple of things out here,

(33:25):
because I do love Gunner and he's looking for a
backup quarterback for the Panthers. You need to look for
a starter, man. I'm just looking at Bryce Young's numbers
over here. Dude. The Panthers would be out of their
freaking minds to back up the Brinks truck for this guy.
You're gonna give him a huge contract. You're out of

(33:45):
your skull. Remember John Gruden said that you out of
your skull on the side was one of the best
soundbites ever. You out of your mind, you out of
your skull. That's what the Panthers would be if they
extended Bryce Young. Just a couple of things to throw
out here. So in his career, so we're three years in,
he's thrown forty nine touchdown passes in thirty interceptions. That's

(34:08):
that's what we're working with right now. And I'll play
this game every now and then. This is not the
end all be all, but it's just a gauge. Where
are things exactly? Can we gauge this? Let's ballpark this thing.
So his passer rating through three years is eighty point nine.
That's where Bryce Young is three years in. Eighty point nine. Okay,

(34:32):
So I play this little game like, let's just look
at last season. What passer rating you know around that
number was turned in by you know, a certain player,
you know what I mean. So eighty point nine, that's
what Bryce Young has done through three years. Last year
at eighty point two would be Titan's rookie quarterback cam Ward.

(34:58):
That's what his passer rating was last season. Someone who
is nearly four points higher Geno Smith. Geno Smith was
a grease fire with the Raiders. Last season. His passer rating,
believe it or not, was eighty four point seven. That's like,

(35:19):
that's much better than what Bryce Young has done through
three years eighty point nine compared to Geno Smith last
season eighty four point seven. Like that, you've gotten Geno
Smith like production for three years. Geno Smith like production.
Just last year was bad enough. I couldn't watch Raider games.

(35:40):
The only way I could watch is if I was
fading them, betting against them. That was beautiful. But if
you I don't know that. I bet on the Silver
and Black at all last season. But if you're just
watching their games, no bet no, nothing, You're like, oh
my lord, what is happening right now? That's where Bryce
Young is. You cannot extend and a guy like that.

(36:01):
I don't care how much draft capital they gave up.
That trade was ridiculous to move up and trade with
the Bears and get Bryce Young. It has not worked out.
I know they don't want to just you know, throw
it away, but you cannot extend him. You can't. He's
like a poor man's to a tongue of Iloa. Okay,

(36:21):
I went through this with my Dolphins. To a tongue
of Iloa. Led the league in passing yards one year.
He had productive seasons. He did some things where you're like, ah,
you can make an argument for the there's no argument
to make for Bryce Young. To extend him. You cannot
give him. And when Tua got that money, man the
rest of the team, you gotta cut corners. You can't

(36:44):
have the same type of supporting cast. I'll tell you
this to a tongue of Iloa Bryce Young. They are
both players who need a lot around them, and when
you pay the quarterback huge money, you can't have a
lot around them. And then it is a total grease fire.
Trust me, do not. The Panthers will be out of
their minds to extend Bryce Young. He'd have to go

(37:05):
ballistic this season for them to give them a big deal.
All right, eight seven to seven ninety nine on Fox.
That's your number. Feel free to check in. You know,
I gotta tell you something that I've seen promoted during
the play in tournament. It's it's a nonsports thought that
is connected to sports, but I want to throw it
your way. See if you feel the same way or not.

(37:26):
I'm Brian though in for Big Ben Malor keep it
locked right here on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (37:30):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Ben Maller
Show weekdays at two am Eastern eleven pm Pacific on
Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 3 (37:39):
It is Fox Sports Radio. I'm Brian no in for
Big Ben Maller. I'll tell you what I can. I
can feel it in my bones. Next hour, we're gonna
have some hot food takes. We're gonna have some hot
food takes.

Speaker 7 (37:52):
Oo.

Speaker 3 (37:53):
Food Radio is my favorite food radio coming at you,
not all next hour, I'll sneak in some drafts and
I've actually have a serious thought at the top of
the hour, and then we will absolutely loosen the collar
after the serious stuff. And Brie is she's halfway a
maniac with these Brioche peanut butter and jelly tales that

(38:16):
she's telling over it crazy wait till you hear that.
And then Yeah, I've got a wedge salad story for
you which sounds incredibly kinky for some reason, it's not.
It's a very very rated g story, but yeah, I'm
writing it down. Food Radio coming up there. You go
food Radio. I do have a basically a non sports take,

(38:41):
and I have noticed this during the playing tournament of
the NBA. So Amazon is promoting the holy hell out
of an upcoming movie called Balls Up. It looks freaking
terrible awful, starring Mark Mark Waller, and the gist of

(39:02):
it is they end up in Brazil. They're promoting this
condom that goes over the penis and the testicles covers everything.
They're promoting this thing, and then like Mark Wahlberg's business
partner or co worker or whatever, he gets upset about something.
He runs onto the field during the World Cup and

(39:24):
he prevents the winning goal from being scored. It screws
Brazil out of winning the World Cup, and so all
of Brazil is trying to kill this guy. And it
goes from there. It looks awful, awful, awful. And my
thought is, whenever movies are promoted this way, it'll say
from the director of Dumb and Dumber for this new

(39:45):
movie balls Up. And I'm like, that's typically a bad sign.
I feel like there's a very low success rate when
movies are promoted that way, especially if it's a movie
I love. I love Dumb and dumber. It's classic classic comedy.
When you're like from the director of Dumb and Dumber
and it's like balls up. I'm like, oh, it's a
terrible sign man, horrible name too.

Speaker 4 (40:07):
It is.

Speaker 3 (40:08):
They're supposed to hang, but it goes inside the condom.
That's why, you know. That's whatever. Oh got it, got it? Yeah,
that's why. Yeah, that's where I'm telling you, Lorena. Maybe
you could look it up. Look up the the promo,
look up the trailer. I'm on it right now. It
looks bad, all right, coming up next. Not everything is sexist.
