(00:44):
lindor are you going to be on the side of
Ken Rosenthal or the side of the sports pope Mike Francessa. Also,
how do you decode mets Infia There Boba Shad's vague
message when asked about his no trade clause before the
deadline coming up and Sir Charles has entered the chat,
did Charles Barkley make a bold move or bonehead move

(01:07):
by skipping the Taylor Swift Travis Kelsey wedding. He was
invited to Madison Square Garden, he chose not to attend
that dog and Pony show. We'll talk about all this
and also Mallard to the third degree settle in. It's
our number two, a medium meltdown over a trade that

(01:33):

the way that tire buying sure be. That's right. Now.

was very surprised. It came from Pokey pokey pokey pokey

I'm aiming at the catcher's target. Get here, I've got
the ball right here, and here we go.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
I had I.

Speaker 1 (05:07):
Had it, Oh my god, I had it, yes, all
right in your face camera, All right, now we move
on with the show. Save that. That's gonna go viral.
That's that's going Viral's the big moment. That's yes, I've
been practicing it, finally paid off. We're gonna get the

(05:27):
most downloads on this YouTube video because that's amaze, amazing.

Speaker 2 (05:32):
All right.

Speaker 1 (05:32):
Anyway, I lead this hour from the trade founder, the
trade farder. So we have a media battle royale, a
brew ha ha that has developed over a trade room,
not a trade, not actual trade, a trade roomer. Captain
Cranky aka the little Guy Ken Rosenthal is pushing back

(05:55):
on Mike francessa boy, a couple of egomaniacs who are
involved in this.

Speaker 3 (06:00):
Now.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
Mike Francessa's claimed recently the Mets will not just be
shopping Francisco indoor. There will be aggressively shopping Francisco indoor
before the early August trade deadline. I don't know if
you saw this or not. I just love when these
people that have enormous egos get into these type of situations.

(06:24):
I freaking love it. So Mike Francessa, the legend from
Mike and the Mad Dog all those years, and he's
doing some podcasts nobody listens to other than Funhouse. But anyway,
Francessa claimed that the Mets are not just listening to offers,
but are actively trying quote very very hard to trade
the malcontent Francisco Indoor in the coming weeks here before

(06:47):
the trade deadline. Now, he claimed, was all tied together
because Juan Soto and Lindor are at loggerheads. They're not buddies.
They don't like each other, even though Steve Cohen said, yes,
they don't like each other. However, they've they've been better
this year. And Frances Clamba Oho, the Mets are just
gonna build around Sodo and they'll bring some other guys in.

(07:08):
They're gonna change it up and all that. And Rosenthal
shot back on his podcast Nobody Listens To and he
condemn Mike Francessa, saying that he's not a beat reporter.
Oh god, this is so freaking good. God. I love
that Rosenthal is dying on this mountain. It is so great.
It is awesome. I'll tell you in a minute. So

(07:31):
Rosenthal's claim over Frances is not a beat writer and
that he said, I haven't heard anything from the real
beat writers. So that is a good jumping off point.
Let us discuss the question whose side are you on
in this media brew haha over the future of the

(07:53):
Mets star Francisco Lindor. So, I've got Cooma, Sweet Green
and Kennon Ball, and we'll combine all of these things
together and we are going to make a juicy Lucy
for hollering James. That's what we're gonna do. But we
always start with number. What umber? What number? What number?

(08:17):
What funing number?

Speaker 4 (08:19):
Number?

Speaker 3 (08:20):
All right?

Speaker 1 (08:21):
So I am siding with the Pope, Mike Francesa, the
sports pope. There, gas bag, blowhard, know it all Mike
Francesa on this one. It's not even close. It's not
even close. Ken Rosenthal, the curmudgeon, is out here gatekeeping.
Rosenthal's gatekeeping MLB rumors like it's nineteen ninety five. This

(08:43):
is the kind of bull crap I had to deal
with these baseball writers when I started years ago. They
still control the Hall of Fame vote. These a holes. Okay,
there is no one in the media that thinks they're
more important than the baseball writer. It is fast. And
Rosenthal's from the old Country, so he's been around a
long time and all that. But there's a bunch of

(09:04):
guys like him that are still hanging on here, and
they act like it's the mid nineties. They clutch their
rolodex and they worship their fellow Beat reporter there and that,
of course, the newspaper industry died. Apparently nobody told Rosenthal
he hasn't worked at a newspaper in years. I know
the Athletic was bought by the New York Times, but
they Athletic is something different. Anyway. The point of all

(09:27):
this is most newspapers have died a very slow, painful
death around Rosenthal. And when you say he's not a
beat writer, you've lost the argument, Bozo you have and
you serenaded Mike francessa. So please, somebody let Rosenthal know

(09:49):
to wake up from his coma. Right, come on, Ken,
it's the nineteen nineties. Just called, They say, hey, you
want the information hierarchy back. We'd like to have it back,
the Beat reporter. Let's talk about that. These guys at
this point are glorified stenographers. Right. They rewrite team press

(10:09):
releases and memos and tech sent by agents, that's what
they do. And they'll put a nice polite quote in
there and get that maybe after the game. Of course,
they don't even do that. Much anymore. Their access, the
beat writer's access is mostly controlled through leaks. They are
the useful idiots, the baseball writers, and the small talk

(10:31):
in the locker room. And that access has even been
eliminated and mostly eliminated over the years. Back in the
old days, used to hang out in the locker room
all the time, and now they limit the time you
can be in there. But the real information flow these
days the people that are in the know, the radio guy,
the connected podcast guy, the insider is not the beat

(10:56):
writer that is not the insider. And like Francessa, who
has been around it around the New York sports I
know he spends a lot of his time in Florida
these days, but nonetheless decades in New York. And is
it likely or unlikely that he's got a direct pipeline

(11:16):
to Steve cohen Is it likely or unlikely that Steve
cohen A met Fanboy, loved Mike and the mad Dog
and couldn't maybe know Mike Francessa. Could it be true
in real life? And could they have had some conversations?
And is it possible that Francessa might have something I

(11:38):
don't know some beat writer wouldn't have so ridiculous, so
so ridiculous. And it's like Roseald, He's waiting for three
Beat writers to confirm a story on Twitter. Well, it's
not Twitter anymore, it's called X. The game has changed,
the game has changed, and hiding behind the I haven't
heard it from the Beat guys is just elitist copium

(12:02):
is what that is. It's an outdated model that Rosenthal
is doing. He's just trying to disrespect and this is
what Rosenholt done for years. It's not new, but he's
trying to disrespect Mike Francessa and the Beat guys often
and even the national writers are often compromised because they're inside.
They think they're part of the teams. They do these dummies.

(12:23):
They think they're part of the teams. And you get
too close and you don't want to hurt your friend's feelings,
you know, don't want to do that. So it gets
very uncomfortable, and there's certain lines that can't be crossed
because of that, like, for example, the clear disfunction in
the Mets clubhouse, and Francessa was like the first guy

(12:44):
to report that Lindor and Soto orchestrated behind the scenes
the departure of Pete Alonzo and Brandon Nimmo and Munch
of these other guys that were popular players of the Mets,
and the guys that replace them have all either sucked
or they blow the guys the Mets bought in. So

(13:04):
it's not like Francessa's some random dude you've never heard
of who doesn't know anybody. His nickname is the sports Pope,
that's it. And he's been right on a lot of
these things. So I trust him. Not that I think
he's a nice dude either. I think I've heard he's
a complete schmuck. Also got schmuck versus schmuck all right now,
page dude to New York we go where Bob Bashitt,

(13:27):
who's now with the Mets and he's longtime Blue Jay,
was in the World Series against the Doyers, that classic
World Series and signed with the Mets, and he talked
recently if you saw this or not, as his name
has popped up in the trade hopper, and there's a
lot of chatter that Boba Schet's going to be moved
by the Metropolitans roster teardown. If you want a Met,

(13:52):
you can get a Met and will the last New
York Met player left, which will be Juan Soto? Will
they please turn out the light? Yeah? All right? Anyway,
so he's got a very unique contract because he's got
opt out, opt out, opt out, opt out, opt out,
all over the high salary, lots of escape patches. He's

(14:12):
got a no trade clause, Bobashet, which complicates some things. Now.
Bashett recently addressed his no trade protection. Here's the quote,
this is what we call the money quote kids, Bobachhet said, quote,
I came to New York to win. The no trade
clause is there for a reason, and I'm just leaving
it at that close. Quote. All right, question, how do

(14:35):
you decode? How do you decode New York Mets infielder
Bobashett and his vague answer when asked about his no
trade clause as we inch closer to the trade deadline, So, Bobachhett,
his little presser was passive aggressive theater is what it was. Right.
He claims he came to New York to win, which

(14:57):
is complete and total hogwall capital H, complete and total
hogwash capital H. The Mets offered him a sweetheart deal
by all accounts, Bobaschett was lined up to go to
Philadelphia and choke on a cheese steak. And then at
the very final minute, when the Mets lost out on
Kyle I Suck Tucker, who's now at the Dodgers, the

(15:19):
Mets pivoted to Bobaschet and they said, Okay, we got
we got caught with our pants down. We don't want
to get a full of tomic wedgie from the fans,
so we're going to sign you. So they give him
a three year contract for one hundred and twenty six million.
And that is the reason and the only reason that
Bobachet is a Met. He didn't want to play for
the Mets. Nobody wants to play for the Mets. They

(15:40):
got to overpay for everybody. Otherwise, you want to play
for the Mets. Why we want to play for the Mets.
They suck every year. They suck. Anyway, right now, Bobachett,
who said, hey, I came to New York to win,
he said, the New York Mets are in the sewer.
They're hanging out with a teenage mutant Ninja Turtles in
the sewer of the National League East. They're right there

(16:02):
in the basement, and there's some flooding. It sounds like
it sounds like there might be something gurgling up, possibly
some sulfur, might be some urine, some pooh. It's not good.
It's not good. So he went there. The Mets offered
him the deal, and the Mets are gonna be holding
a bonfire coming up at the trade deadline. Not a

(16:23):
Pennant race, Not a pennant race, a bonfire, and Bobershet
clutching his no trade clause like it's his blanky, his
security blanket, while giving the most obvious wink wink answer,
I'm just leaving it at that to the media. So
let's let's go to the Mallard Dakota Ring. Bolberschett's message.

(16:45):
Here's what it actually means. It's it's a subliminal message
to the Mets. The message is trade me, bro, But
make it look like it was your idea. Make it
look like, well, how does that work? You got a
no trade clat Just make it look like it's your idea.
That's it. He doesn't, He's not, but Chet's not go.
Bobachet's highly unlikely he's gonna stay with the Mets, right,

(17:09):
He's pretty much finished. The Mets are terrible, and he'll
likely opt out because he's not real happy there. And
if you figure some other dumb team will give me
even more money, so he's done. Ski's there, could put
fan too, all of that, and yet he's two chicken,
black block chicken to say outright, hiding behind the noble

(17:32):
sounding sweet green word salad and winning. No, I'm here
to win and all this, and you're, well, I don't
know about that. And what he wants is his hand
picked team, right, and you look around who would who
would be in the market for Bobachett at the trade deadline? Well,
unfortunately for the Mets, it's two National League's teams, the

(17:53):
Atlanta Braves and the Philadelphia Phillies, who wanted him originally
and seemingly would find a way to put him even
though they're seemingly stacked. They would find a way to
put Bashett on the roster, and then met Toronto. Toronto's
like not good. The American League's terrible, So no one's
really that far out of it in the American League,
and so you can see a home coming there, all right,

(18:14):
final point to the round mound of rebound. Charles Barkley
filling up the content machine. Sir Charles revealed that he
was invited to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey's wedding. However,
he declined. Barkley chose not to go. Did he have work?

Speaker 3 (18:33):
Now?

Speaker 1 (18:34):
Ryan Seacrest was invited for some reason. I don't know
what that's about. He he chose not to go out
he had he had work anyway, Barkley, in a recent
sports radio appearance in Philly, explained his reasoning. So what
was Charles Barkley's reasoning for not going? He said, he
generally avoids weddings and funerals, and he just thought the

(18:54):
event would be overwhelming. Now, the wedding thing, I kind
of get the funeral thing. That's a good mitch. You
should go to funerals. But anyway, not that nobody likes
going to those things, but it's important. So Barkley said, quote,
I don't go to weddings or funerals, but I did
get an invite and I politely declined, Barkley said, because
I thought it was going to be a crap show.

(19:16):
Barkley said, he said, quote I love Travis and Jason,
meaning the Kelsey brothers and I've only met Taylor one time.
He's imagine getting invited to that wedding. You've only met
her one wow. Anyway, but Barkley said, that's just too much.
I just want to hang out and play golf. I

(19:36):
don't want to dress up and all that other stuff.
He said, But I appreciate the invitation. It was pretty special.
Clotes quote all right, So the question did Charles Barkley
make a bold move or a boneheaded move by skipping
the Taylor Swift Travis Kelsey wedding at Madison Square Garden.

(19:58):
So look, we get it. Yeah, I don't know any
dude that likes going to weddings. I don't. I have
yet to meet that person that's like, I want to
go to a wedding. The funeral thing. Also, not many
people I even want to go to a funeral. So
I understand, and I love that Barkley's like a ten
year old child that doesn't want to get dressed up.
I think that's great. I think that's just outstanding. And

(20:21):
you'd rather be out there on the golf course drinking
beers and betting and all that. Despite that, though, Charles,
this was not a wedding. See and you said in
your quote there, you said you didn't want to go
because you thought it was gonna be a crap show.
That's the reason you go. That's the reason you go
to that is because it is and was a crap show.

(20:43):
It was a damn circus. The clips that I've seen,
you missed the greatest show on Earth right there. You
turn down a front row seat to the ultimate clown
show of twenty twenty six. The Taylor Swift Travis Kelsey
wedding at Madison Square Garden, Midtown. You had the ring
master Adam Sandler there officiating. I'm told they raffled off

(21:05):
Cardier watches, Chanelle bags were also raffled off the exact
Chevelle they wrote in on their first date. All of
this stuff, it's insane. This was not a ceremony. This
was a freak show. And you had a ticket to
the freak show. Charles, And remember what do we always say,

(21:26):
Life's all about the stories? It is. It's the stories
you pick up and the people you meet, the places
you go. That's what life's about. Right, Yeah, limited time
and it's over before you know it. So pick up
as many stories as you can't. The stories you would
have gotten at this event. You could have been telling
these stories for the next fifteen years. Absolute go, do

(21:49):
you imagine the story? Oh yeah, yeah, yeah yeah. So
I was. I was at the wedding and I saw
like Stevie Nicks and Paul McCarthy and they were getting
pies in the face from clowns and then Mahome and
that Simone Biles that I'm still getting middle aged women
upset with me because of that Netflix documentary. They dodged
the human cannon ball that almost hit them, Like, imagine

(22:09):
the stuff that took place there. Instead of hiding from
the chaos you got, you gotta lean into it, Charles.
I mean, come on, now, you go there. It's a
freaking human zoo. Well New York anyway is a human zoo,
but Madison Square Garden. But this is a special kind
of zoo. It's an elite at zoo. All these people
that think they're special, they're better than you, and I know,

(22:31):
the elites of society. They go to this and you
could have been there, and you're gonna mock them and
all that. And you know, they probably had some trapeze artists,
some jugglers. How about the people that are complaining they
didn't get invited. I laugh at those people too. But
if I got invited, I got invited, I would have gone.
And how it's so digital like Barkley. It sounds like
he's hung out with Jason Kelcey like they they're buddies,

(22:52):
and because Philadelphia and all that, and probably had beers
and whatnot. I bet you he didn't know Travis Kelcey
that well. And he said he's only met Taylor's one time,
so it's very odd. I'd love to have been a
fly in the room when they just said, who are
we gonna invite to this thing? Who?

Speaker 3 (23:07):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (23:07):
I like that Dean Blandino guy on TV. Let's invite
Dean Blandino. Yeah, we like our former morning guy Steven A. Smith.
Let's let's bring him in. Yeah why not? Sure? Well,
it's actually smart because if you get invited to the wedding,
you can't really rip the wedding, right if you're at
the wedding, I don't think you're allowed to rip the
wedding like, so you avoid Stephen A. Smith ripping the

(23:30):
wedding because he was invited, so he's got to and
pretend like it was all great. It is the Ben
Mahler Show. If you'd like to be part eight seven
seven ninety nine on Fox, that's eight seven seven nine
nine six six three six nine. Also on X at
Ben Mahlor that's at Ben Mahler. If you want to
be part of the live radio program. Later this hour,

(23:51):
we'll have Mallardly Third Degree and the Insta Trivia. Well,
it's going to be a starless night, well in many cases,
a starless night. We'll get to that and we will
do it next.

Speaker 2 (24:09):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Ben Mallor
Show weekdays at two am Eastern eleven pm Pacific on
Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (24:19):
Hey, this is Jason McIntyre.

Speaker 5 (24:21):
Join me every weekday morning on my podcast, Straight Fire

the same tired narratives down your throat every day. Straight
Fire gives you honest opinions on all the biggest sports headlines,
accurate stats to help you win big at the sportsbook,
and all the best guests. Do yourself a favor and

(24:41):
listen to Straight Fire with Jason McIntyre on the iHeartRadio
app Apple podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts.

Speaker 1 (24:51):
It is the Ben Malord Show. And don't forget did
you know the Mallard poaloos is a thing? What is
the Malard Palooz, Ah tell me? Well, so variety show.
It's a little bit of this, a little bit of that.
It really celebrates the talent of the overnight listener. We
have songs, we have comedy, we have impersonations and whatever

(25:15):
else you can come up with. We've had some great
acts over the years. The Boston Burper one of my
favorite acts. Remember the Boston Burper legend. He sold out
though he got married and works the day shift, and
so we lost the Boston Burper from the show. We'll

(25:35):
find some new acts and we were looking forward to it.
So if you want to be part of this, it's
live on the air now. You can't submit a song
or an act prior to that, though we do recommend
doing it live that night. It's coming up July fifteenth
into the sixteenth, so that Wednesday overnight into Thursday morning,
and that'll be coming up next week. Next week The

(25:56):
Malor Palooza twenty twenty six. Dorko the Comedian had some hats.
We haven't heard from him last couple of days though,
so I don't know if he's still doing that or not.
But he had made some Mallard Palooza hats to celebrate
the event. Check it out. Oh that's a Boston burper
right there. Yeah.

Speaker 6 (26:14):
I found a rock song by him too.

Speaker 1 (26:17):
Oh that's great. We've had that. We had a pig
swealer from Kansas. Remember the pig Swealer from Kansas. That
guy was pretty good too.

Speaker 6 (26:24):
Yeah, that's the talent we need to see exactly I want.

Speaker 4 (26:28):
There.

Speaker 1 (26:29):
Used to be a guy Letterman that was on TV
and he did like stupid human tricks, and we can
recreate that if there's a way. It's very hard to
do because it's radio and all we have is the
audio platform. We don't have the video. However, if there's
a way we can manipulate things and figure out these
really original acts, I think that would be just freaking great.
And that's that's what we're going for. That's absolutely we're

(26:51):
going for. So we began this hour ranting and raving
about the baseball media battles. He got the cranky Captain
Cranky Rosenthal and the sports Pope Mike francessa who are
battling it out over Francisco Indoor, the Mets being on
the trade deadline, Bobachett, who gave this passive aggressive answer

(27:13):
talking about his no trade clause as the Mets are
actively shopping Bobachett to his preferred destination, and then Charles Barkley,
who said I was invited to the Taylor Swift Travis
Kelsey wedding. However I didn't go because I thought it
was going to be a crap show, which is in
fact the reason that you should go to that event.
That would be why you should go to say to

(27:34):
said event. I love the guest list, though, you like
the fact that it made no sense at all. Yeah.

Speaker 6 (27:40):
I actually saw an interview that she did about a
year ago where she was asked about her guest list,
and she's like, I really don't want to be stressed
out about it. I'm just gonna invite everybody.

Speaker 1 (27:50):
Well I guess, I mean, I don't. But you we're
inviting people you don't really know in real life. It's odd.
I don't know. It's like, what's their name?

Speaker 6 (27:58):
Oh, yeah, I invite them just in case.

Speaker 1 (28:00):
What's their name?

Speaker 3 (28:01):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (28:01):
Him in two that one.

Speaker 1 (28:02):
Too, Travis Kelsey usually plays on Sundays. He watched He
must Love NFL. He invited all the play by play guys,
the color comments, the color Tom Brady was there, Tony Romo,
I think Troy Aikman, like they were all there. It
was like hanging out and here we are. Okay. The
Baltimore Free Loader account rights in and says, is there

(28:26):
a more entitled bunch than baseball writers? These people expect
stories to be hand fed to them. They act superior
to everyone. They also expect a free press box meal,
which has disappeared, much like newspapers. So your definition of
schmuck applies. Oh yeah, and when I got into radio,

(28:48):
they segregated. They still had segregation in the press box.
Oh yes, I was with the Dodgers. We were at
Shay's Stadium, which no longer is dist and I got
escorted out. I was sitting with the Dodgers traveling media
party because that's who I was with, and I got
escorted out. I said, they said it was a Jay
Horowitz was his name. I think he's still there. He

(29:09):
was really old then, he's probably really really old now
if he's still around. And uh, yeah, you got a
move because the press box is only for the beat writers,
and so they had a segregated box for the radio guys.
And I thought, oh, I thought, well that's uh, I
now hate baseball writers. Don't contaminate that area exactly. I
was like, wow, I didn't know segregation was still the thing.

(29:30):
I had no idea, but apparently it was. I So
I got bussed over to the radio press box and
then that was that was it? All right? Rudy writes
and says, Malor finally hit a shot, money shot. Mald
that's right Downtown. You're gonna have to everyone make sure
to save that clip fer dog Alf Mallard prop guy

(29:51):
on the YouTube video when he gets up. I absolutely
hit the lens perfection, Michael and Tulsa writes and he says,
a plus on the beginning of the Mallard model, I
think you were talking about minor league baseball local radio
station that annoys my ears every year with one hundred
meaningless games instead of having the NFL or Fox Sports

(30:12):
Raider or anything on instead. I wasn't necessarily talking about that,
but if that's what you took away from it, fine, Yeah,
all Bill Hoo's your Bill Wrights in he says, Ben,
this show tonight might qualify for a twenty twenty seven
La Area Emmy Award. Fingers crossed. Sadly, I have to

(30:33):
jet five am call time tomorrow for the wildly celebrated,
long awaited cop Rock Q and A at the Fountain
on Sunset and Vine. Okay, so we'll be done with you.
Get get out of here, Mike, and New Hampshire writes,
and he says, godfather, he says, you've been booted off

(30:55):
the satellite channel for the World Cup. Well, Mike, here's
the thing. How many times do I have to say
iHeartRadio App, iHeartRadio App always the fallback, iHeartRadio App, iHeartRadio App.
You go Fox Sports Radio Channel. So all you people,
and if you have a problem, contact serious XM's. I

(31:17):
don't make the programming. I have nothing to do with
the programming. We are on there and occasionally we get
covered up by a soccer game. However, you can always
hear the show on the iHeartRadio app where we are
not covered up. So deal with that. Let's go to
the phones and we'll say hello to Ross is in
Saint Pete. What's going on? Ross? Welcome?

Speaker 3 (31:36):
Hey Ben, Thanks checking my call a long time listener,
first on caller. So, yeah, I originally want to talk
from baseball, but listening to some of your discussion about
the recent nuptials, you know, if everyone was invited, I
know someone who wasn't, and Chuck could have brought it
plus one and I think Kanye West would have been
a perfect plus one for the Taylor Swift weather Yeah.

Speaker 1 (32:00):
Yeah, see available? Is he? Is he busy right now?

Speaker 7 (32:03):
Is?

Speaker 1 (32:03):
Well?

Speaker 3 (32:03):
He just played Tampa last weekend? But yeah, could you
imagine him with Adam Sandler Like Michael Myers, Taylor Swift
does not care about poor people that either here though
they're originally in baseball. You know, honestly as a huge
race fan, and I never really liked Bobuschet when he
was on the Blue Jays, but and I know he's

(32:25):
not been playing up to his contract, but I think
they need a bat and second is kind of a
position up for crab. I mean, obviously, short.

Speaker 1 (32:33):
Style, are you saying that the are you saying the
Tampa Bay Rays are going to pay Bobachet as long
as he opts out of his contract. Did they have
to get him to agree to opt out of his contract?
Because what if he opts in. What if Bobachett says, no,
I want to stay, I'm gonna stay in Tampa, then
they got to pay him fifty million a year whatever
he's making. I don't think they want to have I mean.

Speaker 3 (32:52):
You know, there's gonna be a salary floor in a
couple of years on mine as well.

Speaker 1 (32:55):
Getting Nah, that's not gonna happen. They will major League
Baseball will go out of business before there's a salary
cap floor. And I'll tell you why, No salary floor,
not a cap. No, No, I don't think it'll be
a floor either. And here's why, because the owners, we're
not gonna do a If you're not gonna do a cap,
we're not going to do a floor. So they why
would we do Why would we do a floor? You know?
And they'll have so many loopholes in there. Anyway, the

(33:18):
only the only way, and you listen, the only way
they would ever have a cap. And I've talked to
people in baseball, but they say, the players will say,
if you show us legitimately that Tampa Bay, Sacramento, Colorado,
all these teams are losing money and we can have
it verified by the Kings exactly exactly. But if you
if you find somebody to verify that these teams are

(33:40):
losing money, and the players will be okay, we get it.
But the owners will never do that because they're not
losing money. They're making They're not making as much as
the other teams, but they're making money. So they're not
gonna they go open out the bucks because they've been
lying for years.

Speaker 3 (33:52):
Oh, I agree. I'll end with one other thing.

Speaker 1 (33:57):
Oh, this never goes well, This never goes well, This
never goes well.

Speaker 3 (34:01):
All Star Game.

Speaker 7 (34:02):
Okay, speaking of Boba Schett, the former Blue Jay, current
mess and the fact that the Blue Jays have dominated
fan voting, I mean, we're not gonna get in the
whole thing with that in the All Star Game.

Speaker 3 (34:13):
But I propose a fix called the two fifths compromise.
The Canadian vote is only worse two fifths one.

Speaker 4 (34:23):
There's the reason.

Speaker 3 (34:23):
I because I like Canadians that much better.

Speaker 1 (34:28):
Oh I love Canada. But no, you know what you
should do is you should have said, like, whatever the
exchange rate is between the dollar right at the time
of the voting is complete, well, that's how much the
percentage will be of the the All Star I love it.

Speaker 2 (34:41):
I love it.

Speaker 3 (34:41):
You got to do something right?

Speaker 1 (34:43):
All right? Thank you call me again, Ross, there we go. Shockingly,
wasn't a newbie night, and we got a new guy
to call the show. Who's good by the way, Boba
schett On pace to hit eighteen home runs this year
with twenty five runs, batted in and strike out one
hundred and twenty seven times. That doesn't seem good. I
mentioned starless night. That does tie into what Ross was

(35:04):
talking about with the All Star Game, as it has
been revealed now that Paul's Skeins and Jacob Miseraski will
not be participating in the All Star Game. Does two
phenoms all those schemes has been roughed up recently for
the Pittsburgh Pirates, Baseball announced some replacements. Otani is also

(35:25):
not going to pitch in the All Star Games, so
he's out of the All Star Game as far as
the pitcher is concerned. And there you go. So of
all the All Star games, the one that you're least
likely to get hurt in is the Baseball All Star Game.
And these guys are bailing right and left, and at
some point there will be no All Star Games. The
All Star game existed when the players were making normal

(35:48):
salaries and they needed to promote the game. It is
a nuisance for the modern athlete. They are above it,
they are entitled. They do not want to participate out
of an abundance of caution. That is where we are
as a society, and we put our athletes on pedestals.
And that's the way it is. All right. Time now
for the instad trivia. Someone I've never heard of named

(36:08):
Tyler Tolbert an infield or outfield. He's playing right field
for the Royals last night against the Mets, but anyway,
he got hits in twelve consecutive plate appearances. That ties
the Major League Baseball record, which was last accomplished by Blank. Again,
Tyler Tolbert apparently plays for the Royals. He got a

(36:28):
hit in twelve consecutive play appearances over the last few days,
tying the MLB record, which was last accomplished by Blank.
That's the insta trivia. The answer. We'll get to it
and we will do it. Also, Mallard of the third degree,
we'll do it all and we will do it next.

like an Egyptian out of the World Cup. Here's the
instad trivia and here it is someone named Tyler Tolbert
of the Royals got a hit in twelve consecutive played
appearances time, the MLB record last accomplished by Blank King

(39:12):
If he's alive, that's a story all right here where
you go coubo.

Speaker 4 (39:15):
In a report that surface Tuesday, it was suggested that
Sean Payton considered presenting Broncos owner Greg Penner a proposal
for the Ages hired Belichick as head coach until he
reached fifteen wins, enough to break down to his career
record of three hundred and forty seven. Yeah, and then
after that, you know, Sean Payton, would you know, retake
the reins?

Speaker 1 (39:34):
Ben? Are you buying any of that? Am I buying that?
Over beers and chicken wing? Sean Payton thought about it,
I'd buy that. No, this would have this would you
couldn't do this? This would have been the most fugazy
thing in the history of fogaze. You can't. I don't
imagine that. Their buddies, they probably talked about it. Maybe
we should do Actually I don't think they actually went

(39:55):
to the owner. I don't buy that.

Speaker 4 (39:56):
Next, the Sacramento Kings have waived demarg Rosen, who will
now enter free the agency. Ben, what do you think
the market will be like for de Rozan.

Speaker 1 (40:03):
Well, he's your standard older, one trick guy that will
score a lot of points. Everything I'm hearing is he's
going to go back to the Toronto Raptors and they're
going to form a super team Coop with Kawhi Leonard
and DeMar derosan throwback. Yeah, Well they didn't play together,
right because Derosen was No, he's already gone. I think
he was gone. I think, yeah. I don't think they

(40:24):
were together when they won the championship. I think he
had moved on, right. Lowry, Yeah, Kyle Lowry who retired.
By the way, this is Kyle Lowry day in Toronto.
Do they on the Salt Yes?

Speaker 2 (40:34):
All right.

Speaker 4 (40:35):
Next, John Harbustad, in a transcript at least by the
Giants this week that camp scattybow is a top tier
back and he's planning to play that way.

Speaker 1 (40:42):
Ben, Do you think he's top tier? Uh? Yeah? Until
he gets hurt in the second half of Week one?

Speaker 3 (40:47):
Sure?

Speaker 1 (40:47):
Why not never believe what coaches say, Coop The first
rule of sports media, especially NFL coaches. They lie?

Speaker 3 (40:55):
Why?

Speaker 1 (40:56):
Why?

Speaker 2 (40:56):
How we die?

Speaker 1 (40:57):
You passed?

Speaker 2 (40:58):
