Malard Meet and Greet in Sinn City. It's a Saturday.
If you're able to make it, we'd love to meet you.
We do a few of these things a year, and
this is the latest and the last one scheduled at
(00:23):
this point for the rest of twenty twenty six. It's
going to be a lot of fun. In Lost Wages,
Nevada now Here in our number four, Mike Rabel, commenting
on his situation, asked about his problems. He was very
defensive over questions about his counseling, marriage, counseling, over his
lovey dovey behavior with former NFL insider Diana Russini. How
(00:44):
does this play out?
Speaker 2 (00:46):
Also?
Speaker 1 (00:46):
Can you make sense of what's happening with Anthony Richardson
and Indy And is coach Aaron Glenn taking an unnecessary
risk by playing the Jets starters in exhibition games? Will
go there? Yet again? All of that and more right now,
have a wonderful Wednesday here It is.
Speaker 3 (01:03):
Our number four, A patriotic response.
Speaker 1 (01:14):
Well, come, in the beginning of another hour of the
Ben Mather Show, we are in the air, ev reware.
Look up, it's a bird, it's a play notes, it's
our show. Yeah, blah blah blah blah blah blah blah.
(01:34):
Coast to coast, border, the border and beyond on the
mast and hillatiously powerful microphones of FSR AM modinating live.
Why from the pot not that pot, the jackpot of
audio hogwash? Giraronteed human from the world famous Fox Sports
(01:58):
radio studios where Natron from Stockton. We'll see him. He'll
be at that Vegas mallor meet and greet later this month,
on the twenty ninth.
Speaker 4 (02:06):
He'll be there.
Speaker 1 (02:07):
And mikey Cano. Don't you know they want to hear
all about all about express they do, And I said,
you know what I'm gonna do, and filler up. Phil said,
we want some Express. And even Wane the Curmudgeon. If
Wane the Curmudgeon and Duluth wants it, you know it's big.
And Monkey Biz Doug there in South Korea, they all
(02:29):
demand it. They all demanded, Well, listen, if you work
in logistics, you know nothing moves without you. Companies need
skilled people now, and Express Employment professionals can help find
contract or full time work that fits at no cost
to you. Visit expresspros dot com, get support, get options,
(02:51):
and get to work. So our lead story this hour
from the Commonwealth, where Patriots coach Mike was asked about
you know who, Yeah, you see this. It's been a while.
We'd like to circle back to one of our favorite
scandals of the NFL offseason. So Mike Rabel was asked
(03:12):
about the counseling wink wink that he underwent following the
very public canoodling with the disgraced former NFL insider Diana Russini,
who had a really great job and now longer no
longer has that great job. Anyway, So if you didn't
hear about this, perhaps perhaps not remember that Mike Rabel
(03:38):
when he when he took a break from the draft,
it was like the I think it was like the
third day of the draft. Nobody cares about that, nobody
watches it, who cares, It's irrelevant, And so he didn't
show up to that because of counseling. He was getting
a counseling session. And I think we can all agree.
I mean, that's tremendous punishment. How do you how do
you deal with that? It's just a terrible thing. So
(04:02):
a reporter specifically asked Mike Rabel, the Pats coach, what
he learned from that counseling and how he balanced that
personal commitment with preparing for the season in an intense
counseling session that took place. Now, Rabel, of course, did
not directly answer to the wildebeast in the room. He
(04:25):
did not did not answer about what he learned or
discussed the underlying reason that he went to said counseling.
He didn't do any of that. Instead, he pivoted to
a general message about improvement. It's all about improvement, all right.
So that is a good jumping off point. Let us
discuss the question. You've got Patriots coach Mike Rabel on
(04:50):
the defense over questions about his off season marriage counseling
after his lovey dovey behavior with the former NFL and
Diana Russini. So how does this play out? How's all
this plan out here? So I've got alphabet brand, ambassador
and Pjong Yang and we will combine all all of
(05:13):
these things together and we are going to have a
big HOGI of the you know what, that's right, the gobbago,
you got it right, and a side of the barbaganoosh.
Now to kick off here, Mike rabel Is.
Speaker 4 (05:26):
You know what he needs?
Speaker 1 (05:27):
Somebody ought to buy him a Wiji board. Now why
would he need a Wigi board? Let me tell you.
He has to somehow contact on the other side across
the pearly gates. He has to make contact with the
sweet spirit Hollywood legend, Fred Astaire. And the reason he
needs to contact Fred Astaire is to figure out some
(05:50):
way to get tap dancing lessons. Mike frabelright, need some
lessons there, because these questions are fair game. They're absolutely
fair game when you are a public figure and you
are tied up in the we'll call it the kissy
Face kissy Face scandal with Diana Russini denying it. Of course,
(06:12):
he denied it and covered it up, and you underwent
the token token like you're playing ski ball at the arcade.
Counseling in air quotes and counseling. The air quote is
big enough, by the way to land a C one thirty.
I'm just saying it becomes public record, So get ready
(06:33):
as I monitor from thirty thousand feet up in the sky.
Get ready, here for some alphabet alphabet soup, little alphabet soup.
Because Mike Rabel bobbing and weaving, bobbing and weaving at
the podium qualifies for at least a WBC belt, at
least at least the WBC belt, and by the end
(06:56):
of September he will be a Jedi man of the
Sweet Science. And Vrabel will know how to continue to
talk very loudly, very very loudly, and say absolutely nothing
of any substance. Anything at all that is of substance
will not be there. Now he has zero, zero interest,
(07:18):
obviously in revisiting the canoodling heard round the football world.
And the strategy is rather simple.
Speaker 5 (07:25):
Now.
Speaker 1 (07:25):
I know this because I'm an old school boxing guy,
and if you're of a certain age, you know exactly
what Mike Rabel's doing. It's called the rope adope. He's
doing the rope adope. Now, what is the ropodope? You
just kind of give boring answers and you don't really
give a direct answer, blah blah blah blah blah blah
blah blah blah, until everyone just gets bored and it's
going to work. It is going to work unless there's
(07:48):
some kind of new revelation from tabloid Nation. He's going
to get away with it, right until something new drops.
The NFL media industrial complex as a whole will eventually
put this Mike Rabel story in a cardboard box. They
will tape it with that office depot tape. They will
(08:10):
then shove it into the attic and it'll become a
playground for spiders to crawl around on. And that's it,
and that's where it's going to go. And everyone just pretend,
you know, nobody's ever saw Mike Rabel playing tonsil hockey
with Diana Russini in the first place. We'll just move on,
all right. Now. Furthermore to Indianapolis we go, where the
(08:33):
Colts have decided they're going to start Anthony Richardson and
their preseason opener against the New England football team out
about that, oh well, who cares about them? I care?
Let me explain why, all right. So they plan on
playing him the entire first half. And this is a
capital a audition, not for the Colts, mind you, It
(08:54):
is an audition for thirty one other teams. That's what
this is now? He has been splitting he being Anthony Richardson,
has been splitting reps, second team reps with Riley Leonard,
second team reps with Riley Leonard, and has even worked
with the third team for Indianapolis. And Richardson requested a
(09:16):
trade this offseason. He wanted to enter the transfer portal
after the Colts signed Daniel Jones, and they said, we're
not going to give you the fifth year options. So
the question, can you make sense of what's happening the
evolving story around Anthony Richardson as he continues to wear
that horseshoe logo there in Indianapolis. So Anthony Richardson's career
(09:40):
is right now. It's parked on the side of a street.
And if you look at the street sign, if you
you might need your glasses. If you look at the
street sign, it says Struggle Street. It says Struggle Street.
So he's parked on Struggle Street and the hazards are
blinking uh. And he's waiting for a tow truck from
Triple A, waiting for a tow truck to come help.
(10:01):
Not now the beginning of the end, we know exactly.
People talk about the big bang theory and when the
universe started, well, we know when the universe went kurvefully.
For Anthony Richardson the beginning of the end. Was that
day a couple of years ago when he said, tap tap,
I'm out see you losers. He tapped out of a
game in the middle of a game against the Texans
(10:27):
because he was tired. Oh I'm tired.
Speaker 4 (10:33):
Now.
Speaker 1 (10:33):
How would the NFL work if every player who was
slightly tired said I'm gonna take some plays off here,
I'm a little a little tired. Would you have a product?
Imagine a lot of you boys have very physical jobs.
We've got people working at ports taking giant containers off
massive ships and moving them around. And a lot of
you guys get up earlier. You have construction jobs, physical
(10:54):
labor jobs. One of our guys in Boston fixing bridges.
Imagine if you said, yeah, I just don't feel great today,
I take a little time off, and you did that
on you can't do it. Certainly in the NFL you
played once a week, Like, what are you doing? He
tapped out. That is a capital offense. In that world,
you don't voluntarily remove yourself from competition because you need
(11:20):
some gatorade and a breather. You know, you can't unring
the bell. You cannot do it. Indianapolis benched him, which
was the right move. He then requested a trade. And
how embarrassing is this? He's like, this guy was a
top five pick in the NFL draft. The guy requests
the trade, and the NFL just kind of shrugged. He said,
(11:42):
what do you want me to do? And the GM
saw the tape around the NFL. He looked at the
tape of Anthony Richardson and okay, he was auditioning on
the tape to be a brand ambassador for Sleep number.
Well that doesn't really work. I mean, that's that's not great.
But yeah, yeah he's brand ambassador for Sleep number and
(12:04):
all that. Now he was overdrafted. We can we all?
I mean, does anyone not? Maybe his mom and dad
or his cousins don't think he was overdrafted. Everyone else
like overdrafted. I think it was the fourth overall pick
if I remember correctly. And God God blessed the late
great Jim Mercy, who was probably on a bender. I
had a fever dream. That was his fever dream era
Jim Irsay, And I thought, oh man, pure upside, pixie dust.
(12:26):
It's all gonna work out, It's all gonna be great
and all that stuff. And how'd that work out? Well,
don't ask, but yeah, so didn't work out, And people say, well,
he can still be a franchise quarterback. There's always those
cock eyed optimists right the bleeding hearts says, Oh, he's
going to be a franchise quarterback. You just wait and see.
So I am going to be Benny bright Side. Don't
(12:49):
do it, Malard, I'm gonna be Benny bright Side. I too.
I truly believe that Anthony Richardson can, indeed become a
franchise quarterback, not here in America but north of the border.
So I have a dream, not like Martin Luther king
Iver a dream. Can we get the Saskatchewan Roughriders, my
(13:13):
favorite CFL team, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, and the Montreal
Alowitz will even let the BC Lions come in if
they want and play around, Robin around, Robin rock paper
scissors for the services of Anthony Richardson in the Canadian
Football League. And make sure, because this is about Anthony Richardson,
(13:33):
make it a not a best of seven or a
best of five, or even a best of three. Make
it a best of one. Make it why would you
make it the best of one? We don't want anyone
getting tired. We don't want them getting tired. All right,
last thing to New York, a staple of sports talk
radio this time of the year, has happened yet again,
(13:55):
and yet again, yet again. So we have a gaggle
of NFL games tomorrow. The real beginning of these exhibition
games is tomorrow, and this weekend everyone's playing, right, everyone's playing.
And so we go to New York where Jets coach
Aaron Glenn said that all of his starters, every one
of his starters is going to play in their exhibition
Friday they play the Buccaneers, So Friday is the Buccaneer
(14:18):
matchup with but when they get together, throw out the
records now. Glenn said that the starters he anticipates a
play somewhere around thirty total preseason game snaps per starter
that is spread across three exhibition games, which is really
only two. Usually they don't play the last exhibition game,
so it's really only two. So the workload philosophy of
(14:39):
the latest in battle. Jets coach Aaron Glenn is they're
bragging about it. I was reading about this. The Jets
are bragging. Oh, it's all about sports science and we
know everything and all that, because when you think sports science,
you think of the Jets. You think of the Jets. Right,
I'd rather have someone working on planes take care of
that for the Jets anyway. So that's the deal that
(15:01):
they we're bragging about that. The controversy is obviously the gamble,
and this is the age old debate we have every
exhibition season in the NFL Is it worth the gamble?
And on cue a number of bloviating and typing dufases.
(15:22):
We're freaking out, Like there are people that actually care
about this so much they lose their marbles. They're so
freaked out. Oh, the Jets can't play their starters. What
if one of their starters gets hurt? That would be
sold by a right So question quick, right? The question
is coach Aaron Glenn is coach Aaron Glenn taking an
(15:42):
unnecessary risk by playing the Jets starters in these exhibitions.
This is some other teams doing this too. We're gonna
focus on the Jets for this. So there's a philosophy.
I think you're supposed to. You can't coach scared. You
can't really do much scared. Like, if you're scared all
the time, you're gonna have a tough life. It's gonna
be a hard life for you. You know what I'm saying.
(16:04):
And last I checked, and I went back and I
looked at the depth chart, and I noticed I didn't
see Patrick Mahomes. I didn't see Josh Allen or Lamar
Jackson or Matthew Stafford or even Joe Burrow. Didn't see
any of those guys on the depth chart. Have you
looked at the Jets depth chart? Have you done that? Yeah,
if you want to laugh, it's pretty funny. It's funny
(16:25):
in the most comedians these days to look at the Jets
dep cart depth chart. So there isn't a single player
that I looked at on the Jets roster who is
worth investing bubble wrap to put around said player. There's
not one. And so this is the definition of a
team of players that have to earn their stripes and
(16:46):
the entire roster is a toxic stew of question mark
has beens never weres failed draft picks headlined by the
King Turnberger, Geno Smith's a man that allowed the Raiders
to get the top pick in the draft and then
draft a quarterback that should have been a fourth or
a fifth round pick with the top pick because they
(17:08):
didn't want to miss out. Fear of Fomo, right, fear
of Fomo. Anyway, Gino Smith the dream maker at quarterback.
If you're trying to suck and tank who at this stage,
We're pretty sure Gino Smith should be hosting one of
those annoying jock podcasts sponsored by some testosterone clinic somewhere
(17:31):
instead of masquerading as a QB one. Now, last year's offense,
the Jets offense was practically a human rights violation. Trying
to watch the Jets play offense. No Gino wasn't there,
that's fine. And yet the mister softies in the media,
they're treating Aaron Glenn like he's running a pyeung Yang
sweatshop because he's going to have starters play in the
(17:54):
exhibition season just for giving these guys some reps in
a game environment. And it's football. It's football is what
it is here. You're not doing synchronized swimming in the Olympics.
You're doing football. And if grown ass men making millions
(18:14):
of dollars cannot survive thirty preseason snaps in August, you
might want to update your resume. I recommend going to
Express pros Professionals. We'll have a live read for Express
coming up in a few and go go do that,
or go to the go to the Monterey Bay Aquarium
there and sell postcards. They have a gift shop there.
(18:36):
You can sell postcards, other nick naxles, little key chains,
the dolphin keychain pretty cool. They have the whale keychains.
That's kind of neat. You know that doesn't just go
right to a landfill that doesn't know not at all.
It is the Bay mallor show. If you'd like to
be part join us right now. I got a line open.
Why do I have a lineupen? I never have a
line open this hour? Why do I have a line
open eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox? Must be
(18:59):
because because of the planets all lining up today. We
heard from our astrology insider earlier. The planets are all
lined up so many many times over the years, I
have done rants about teams tanking, and almost universally, when
I do a rant like that, I either get an
email or some JABBRONI calls me up and says, you know,
there is no such thing as tanking, Ben, It's a
(19:20):
media creation. The teams don't actually tank. Literally, almost every
time I bring that issue up, somebody says to me
via email or calls in and say or on X
Not that I checked that very often, but they'll say, hey, listen,
you know it's bogus. These teams are billion dollar teams.
They would never ever tank.
Speaker 4 (19:40):
Never.
Speaker 1 (19:41):
Well, what if I told you loose lips, Well, they
sink tanks. What is that about. We'll get to it.
We'll take your calls, the whole thing later this hour
password the word Game of the Stars. We'll get to
all of that, and we will.
Speaker 2 (19:55):

how about that talk talk Talk Talk, Talk, talk talk,
And if you'd like to join the fun. On this
cosmic day, the planets are literally all lined up. According
(21:31):
to our astrology insider, look to the heavens and say
hello to my little friend. Eight seven seven ninety nine
on Fox that's eight seven seven nine nine six sixty
three sixty nine. Also on x at Ben Mallor BFY
Extra Spicy that's an extra spicy meat ball. Dear God,
(21:54):
it's good. Lorena is back from something we can't talk about,
and you can little Arena FSR tech queen my bell
right over there there she is. Look at that. I
can see the top of her head and Koople loop
at a Bronco fan. That's all Bronco fan. Yeah, I
(22:15):
know it's wild. Your comments can and will be used
against you in the court of sports radio and the
Mala militia. All right, back to it we go. Did
get a message from Michael in Tulsa, who says ben
a plus on the top of the hour hour four
(22:37):
a block Mala monologue regarding Mike Rabel, Did any of
the insiders ask the address in Sedona? If nothing else,
the specific site could also help both the local economy
and the douchebags who can afford to go there and
have some canoeing. Uh yeah, well we know the name
of the place. It's on the internet. It's not not
(23:00):
like it's hidden, so if you want to go there.
I don't enter into that kind of thing, Michael. It
Sidona's beautiful. I haven't been there in years, but that
northern Arizona is a really, really nice place, really really nice.
It's much much different than the obviously the lower part
actually green trees and things like this. Beautiful, absolutely great.
(23:22):
Who's your bill?
Speaker 5 (23:22):
Right?
Speaker 1 (23:23):
Since has been apologies, I am just tuning in now,
but I can already hear that the broadcast you're doing
is more scintillating than a night out with Marv Albert.
I don't know about that. I'm not sure that's more
more and more exciting anyway. So I've got a lot
of messages over the years every time I do my rant.
It happened like two or three times a year, like
(23:44):
oh there's a tank tankan tag gag. I think the
Cardinals are tank gang this year, they're trying to get
arch Manning because whether Arch Manning is good or not
in the NFL, he will be definitely good for the
losers on Madison Avenue. The people that buy advertising will
line up to buy spots and buy you know, it'll
be up. The Cardinals will be a relevant team if
(24:04):
they get arch many even if he sucks good, bad
or ugly, they'll still be relevant. So they're trying to
get him. It's a business. I bring this up be
cause for a couple of years we pointed out the
San Antonio Spurs were built on tanking, all right, built
ante They tanked to get the Parisian prodigy Wemby. So
(24:26):
the general manager of the Spurs, this guy you know who?
I believe his name is Brian Wright. So is it
true that the San Antonio Spurs GM, trying to be
braggadocious admitted admitted that San Antonio tanked, said the quiet
(24:47):
part out loud to get Victor Wembanyama, the number one
overall pick in twenty And believe it or not, it's
tied into an NFL show. This when all the worlds collide.
So during your appearance on HBO's Hard Knocks, the Spurs
general manager discussed the long term planning the organize a
(25:09):
Sean had once they identified that wem Ba Yama was
an all time great. So Brian Wright said that the
CEO of the Spurs determined that wemban Yama, this guy
RC Buford determined that whom Ba Yama was potentially the
greatest player he had ever seen when he was about
(25:29):
sixteen years old, and then delivered the line on on
Hard Knocks. Twelve months later, we put a plan. This
is a quote we put a plan into motion to
turn the team over and have the chance to draft him. Wow,
there it is right there, and that's on on hard knocks,
(25:51):
and that is you talk about. You talk about punishment. Now,
the NBA is likely not going to do anything, but
they have punished a bunch of teams for tanking, and
it's kind of out in the open. Everyone and their
uncle who has any kind of critical thinking realizes that
the Spurs franchise is just a tank franchise. They're not
They're not anything more than a team that tanks. They
tanked for David Robinson, they tanked for Tim Duncan, now
(26:15):
they've tanked for one By Yama. That's what they do.
That's how they operate. They're unethical, that's how they operate.
Tank tank tank tank tank tank tank. In that wild
of all the things just popping up, like what are
you even doing there? Everyone, you know, they love the brag.
Everyone loves to brag about their situation and what's going on.
(26:38):
And the Parisian Prodigy is all that and here you
so do with that what you want, do with that
what you want. But the Seahawks head coach Mike McDonald
and the Spurs coach Mick Mick Johnson. They talked about leadership,
you know, all that bull crap these guys talk about.
And then this came up, and all right, to the phone, sophons, sylphones,
(26:59):
I do need my contestants, coop, hang up online, hang
up on line five, in line six, tell them to
call tomorrow. And let's say if we can get a
couple of contestants for password the word Game of the Stars. Meanwhile,
let's say hello to Marcel in Brooklyn. We played your
song earlier, Marcel, we played it on the on the show.
Speaker 5 (27:19):
Why yes it is. This is my amazing one for
the rap from Jesse Queen, my real respectful man.
Speaker 1 (27:26):
Oh, I did not realize his name was Jesse Queen.
I did not know that it is now, it is now, forever,
ever and ever Jesse Queen. What a legend, mister queen,
quite the queen.
Speaker 5 (27:40):
And how do you like my song? Since me?
Speaker 1 (27:43):
And now has your family heard the song? Marcel? Have
you been able to play that for Uncle Dynamite? And
your answer is why not? Why have they not heard it?
Speaker 5 (27:53):
Well if they don't. If they don't, I'll get grounded
for the rest of.
Speaker 4 (27:58):
My for the rest of my life.
Speaker 1 (27:59):
I don't that it's you know you're in fat shop,
aren't you. Aren't you in your thirties now, Marcell? Aren't
you here?
Speaker 5 (28:04):
Well I'm thirty two, yes, turning thirty three in just
three months? A wife.
Speaker 1 (28:10):
Okay, we have a countdown clock here in the studio.
And did you put that apple Raina or was that you? Coop?
Is somebody put a countdown clock to Marcel's birthday?
Speaker 4 (28:18):
That was me?
Speaker 1 (28:18):
Oh, Coop did it? Okay? So good job by Rease,
job by you, my man. Yeah, outstand me. Now, Marcel,
if I if I I say, I want you on
the mail bag this weekend, will you be available? Will
you get back to me at a at a quick
time here?
Speaker 5 (28:34):
You know, yes it is. I will check on the
Gmail instead, so I'll be the guests on your podcast.
Speaker 1 (28:42):
What's the mailbag? So we'll talk about that. Well, you
you called. I think you wanted to take some calls.
Let's go to a random caller, a random caller. You're
on the air. Hello, random caller, Salo to Marcel in Brooklyn.
Random caller.
Speaker 5 (28:55):
Yeah, we want the random callers, no fake callers.
Speaker 7 (29:00):
Bring fart, Marcel, you say, here we go everybody anyway,
let me talk.
Speaker 5 (29:11):
No, you're not no, I'm not no no no no
no no no no no no. Don't you dare say
one word one bit Jay Scoop saying this, then lose
