Speaker 1 (00:00):
How do you do?

Speaker 2 (00:01):
It's our number far hoping the bubble doesn't burst, don't
forget Ben Malers Show right now, the fifth hour podcast
later on, and here in our number four, give me
the word, give me the word for the Packers giving
Christian Watson the wide receiver one hundred and ten million

(00:21):
dollar extension. Also, Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer says he's not
concerned with George Pickens skipping the voluntary OTAs, but what
does that signify to you? And in addition, can you
decode in Pittsburgh? TJ Watts message on the difference between
Mike McCarthy and Mike Tomlin. Will jumps through some hoops

(00:44):
right now, settle in. It's our number four. Have a
great weekend. Well, that is a lot of cheese. That's
a whole bunch of cheese. Welcome in the big game
of another hour of the Ben Malor Show. We are

Speaker 1 (03:06):
So our lead this hour, I'll go to football.

Speaker 2 (03:09):
It's been an interesting night at Aaron Judge down for
the count down for the count Aaron Judge as he's
out for a few months now, and the last time
this happened when he got tackled by the bullpen gate
at Dodger Stadium, it did not go well for the
Yankees when he was away.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
We'll see what happens this year. So that's a big
talking point.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
Also at the Stanley Cup Final last night, we talked
a little bit about that earlier as the game went
to overtime and people were trying to kill my guy
Torts and that's bull crap.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
What a choke job by the Las Vegas.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
Team that had a two goal lead late in the
relatively late in the game and it all went away.
But our lead this hour is from the frozen Tundra
Lombo Field, the People's team. They're owned by the people,
the Packers, So we learned the Packers for some reason,

(04:05):
I don't know why they agreed to a four year
contract for one hundred and ten million dollars with wide
receiver Christian Watson.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
Did you see this? Maybe not, Maybe you missed it.
Maybe you were not paying attention, so I didn't see that.
So the deal includes an aa V.

Speaker 2 (04:24):
That's all the kids care about these days, the average
annual value of twenty seven point six million with the
oversized cartoon check signing bonus of thirty one million. Now
the Packers are clearly clearly committing to their young receiving
group by east other obvious here.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
They also extended Jayden Reid.

Speaker 2 (04:47):
He got a new deal earlier. But this is about
Christian Watson, the wide receivers. So people freaking out, like
what is going on? Why did they do this? It's
a head scratcher, So let us discuss the question. Give
me a word, Give me the word for the Packers
giving Christian Watson one hundred and ten million dollar extension.

(05:08):
Obviously it's not all guaranteed, although he did get the
oversized cartoon check for thirty one million dollars. As we
just said, So I've got whirlpool kneading and rolling and
karaoke and we're gonna get all dressed up and have
some gaba ghoul and then we're gonna have the Baba
gonooche as well.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
So to kick off here my word is here's my word.
My word is stupefied. All right.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
When I saw this, I thought, well, that can't be true.
That must be one of those fake accounts or something
like that. No, is this contract a contract or is
it like a science experiment? Honestly, we are befuddled, bewildered,
and bemused. As the late great Brian Wheeler would say,
Watson's a good dude. Actually, I had him on my podcast.

(05:56):
We were at the Super Bowl a couple of years back,
and he was very nice and whatnot. We had a
good time chatting and fine and a little radio interview
on Radio Row. Forget where that was, but it was
a while ago. And that said, I still to me,
he's got a glitch. And I'm not the only one
that knows that it's the effword, not.

Speaker 1 (06:19):
That efwort, fragile.

Speaker 2 (06:22):
Green Bay is handing out generational wealth to someone that
is known for generational hamstring tightness, and he simply has
not shown the consistent ability to stay healthy and the
other problem is, well, there have been flashes where it's like, oh.

Speaker 1 (06:40):
That guy's really good.

Speaker 2 (06:41):
Oh Man packers are said, he has not been consistently dominant.
He's merely shown you little teases you. I'll show you
a little bit of his you know, leg raised the
pants up a little bit.

Speaker 1 (06:52):
But he hasn't shown you the full thing. And you
have to.

Speaker 2 (06:55):
Wonder how this contract changes the motivation we talked to
earlier and I didn't go into.

Speaker 1 (07:00):
My full rant. If you want my full rant, just
ask for it.

Speaker 2 (07:03):
We talked about Brian Bayle, last hour of the Red
Sox pitcher, who got sent to the minor leagues, and
he accepted the payout, the get the money now rather
than bet on yourself, and he always worried about those
guys like Watson's been around for a few years, the
wide receiver for the backers, and he's like, well, does
that change your motivation when you get the big money?

Speaker 1 (07:25):
And if you look at the facts here, Watson has
had relatively modest production. He hadn't been bad, He's been fine. However,
he's not the elite, superstar level wide receiver.

Speaker 2 (07:39):
And you toss in the injury history, missing extended time
because of the ACL oh my ACL snap crackle pop.
There is a major disconnect to me. I know this
is part of my like when I was growing up
as a sports fan, like you had to earn the money,
like you didn't they just pay you because they thought.

Speaker 1 (07:56):
You might be good. You had to earn.

Speaker 2 (07:58):
You had to show them something before you got paid.
And I realized we're in the era where they just
hand out.

Speaker 1 (08:02):
They have so much money.

Speaker 2 (08:03):
It's like it's like El Chopo the drug lord back
in the day, bearing money in the backyard. I didn't
know what to do with it. That's like these NFL
teams clearly, otherwise you wouldn't be doing this. You'd be like,
what are you doing giving out that kind of a
contract here with the history that he has with injuries
and all that stuff, and it's on field output.

Speaker 1 (08:22):
He was drafting the second round in twenty twenty two, so.

Speaker 2 (08:24):
The packers are betting heavily that this is going to
be an upside, that he's going to outperform the contract.

Speaker 1 (08:32):
He's gonna become explosive.

Speaker 2 (08:33):
And it's all about the P word potential. You know
how I love potential. Oh, it's so good. Potential meets.
You haven't done anything, but you lose jobs on potential.
He got paid on potential. I like production. That's what
I like. Oh, you're such a schmuck. I like promo,

(08:54):
I do That's what I like. I like production. And
you get caught. The Green Packers are the latest team
to get caught in this perpetual whirlpool of palm reading.

Speaker 1 (09:06):
And we know that it always works out, doesn't it.

Speaker 2 (09:11):
No, so the Packers paid for a hologram of capital
pee potential, not a player.

Speaker 1 (09:18):
Who has been consistently good and stayed healthy.

Speaker 2 (09:21):
That is a cheesy, delusional situation. Now furthermore to Dallas
we go, where Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens the franchised player.

Speaker 1 (09:33):
And he is nowhere to be seen.

Speaker 2 (09:35):
He has not attended the voluntary portion of the OTAs
so far.

Speaker 1 (09:39):
However, the team they are not concerned. Shoddy. What a
perfect name for a Cowboy coach, aren't they all shody?

Speaker 2 (09:47):
Well, Brian Schottenheimer said that he expects Pickens to be
a mandatory He'll be at mandatory.

Speaker 1 (09:53):
Minichamp, which because you have to be there. He said.

Speaker 2 (09:56):
The communication has been good. That's a vague phrase. Everything's
been good. Pickens is reportedly taking care of his business,
according to the Cowboys, all right, and he's running some
youth football camp this weekend.

Speaker 1 (10:12):
Is that part of his business? Okay?

Speaker 2 (10:14):
Pickens also said it being good standing with Schottenheimer, who said.

Speaker 1 (10:19):
We love him. That's nice. He said, it's just part
of a business.

Speaker 2 (10:25):
So Pickens would like a nice, shiny contract, long term contract.
Jerry Jones and the Cowboys have said, go to Rocks,
get out of here, prove it, show us you're committed,
show us.

Speaker 1 (10:37):
You're going to put the extra work in, go the
extra mile.

Speaker 2 (10:41):
So the question you've got Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer, who
says he isn't concerned with George Pickens skipping out on
some voluntary OTAs. But what does that signify to you?
All of the comments from Schottenheimer and the whole thing,
and the way I would say, it is the starting

(11:03):
line and so it begins. That's the thought I have.
It's the Dallas Cowboys launching another season of the same old,
same old reality show. The actors change, the story is
the same. If Schottenheimer were any more relaxed regarding his commentary.

Speaker 1 (11:23):
I think he would be like hollering, James sleeping.

Speaker 2 (11:27):
Maybe maybe that's the plan, sleep right through the drama,
O rama, if you're Brian Schottenheimer, and just hope it
goes away and instead shot He's what is he? He's
kneading and rolling the bright blue play dough like a
preschool Picasso Schottenheimer, shaping the message, smoothing the edges, making

(11:51):
sure there's no rough edges there, hiding the cracks in
the play dough. And you can see the fingerprints all
over this thing. It's like a crime scene, active dusting
for optimism. And he's mister happy go lucky guy polishing
the apple and I'm worried to gonna lose some skin. Meanwhile,

(12:11):
Pickens is in the back. They're saying, I'm good. I
don't want to that.

Speaker 1 (12:15):
If the cowboys.

Speaker 2 (12:16):
Actually trusted George Pickens, Okay, they trusted this guy, he'd.

Speaker 1 (12:21):
Already have a five year deal, you know that. And
I know that.

Speaker 2 (12:25):
Instead they're treating him like enterprise. Rent a car, and
it's like, well, let me see how that car handles.
Let me ran it again, I'll see how that goes. Meanwhile,
Pickings skipping OTAs is pure Sinatra energy. It's a boss
move it's pickings saying I'll show up when I show up,
and you'll.

Speaker 1 (12:45):
Like my performance. And that's that.

Speaker 2 (12:48):
Meanwhile, last thing, we go down a pet Spurg, PA,
home of some delicious cinnamon rolls and a team that
has made the playoffs regularly.

Speaker 1 (12:57):
And not done much anything, although they didn't the plaous
this past year.

Speaker 2 (13:00):
We're talking about dot pat Spurg Steelers. Get out your
terrible towel right now. The latest comments by edge rusher TJ.
Watt linebacker TJ. Watt as these Steelers, like most of
these teams undergoing OTAs and so, TJ. Watt said he
has noticed a very specific change under Mike McCarthy as

(13:22):
opposed to Mike Tomlin, the longtime coach who's now going
to work for the boob Tube on and me see
so TJ. Watt recently explained this week the difference between
McCarthy and Mike Tomlin, and he said, you don't see
benches out here anymore, is what he said. He explained,

(13:45):
we're doing things much differently than what I'm used to
over the last nine years.

Speaker 1 (13:50):
And Watt said it's good. Change is good for me.

Speaker 2 (13:56):
Close quote all right, So the question please Dick Code.

Speaker 1 (14:01):
TJ.

Speaker 2 (14:02):
Watt's message on the difference in Pittsburgh between Mike McCarthy
and the former coach Mike Toma. So the first thing
about decoding this is the rather obvious point. If you
don't have a bench, you can't bench a player, right,
So nobody on the Steelers can be benched because they
don't have benches. But this offseason, TJ. Watt is like

(14:27):
a karaoke singer. He loves folk music, and his favorite
song is puff the Magic Dragon, about Mike McCarthy's spinning
a folk tale about savior coach who's gonna toughen up
this soft bunch of Pittsburgh Steelers. It's the NFL's ultimate
version of a guy complaining that, hey listen, my new

(14:52):
girlfriend is great, but you're passively aggressively describing everything your
ex didn't do by my new girlfriend does this, that
and the other thing. My old girlfriend, oh, she was
such a blankety blank blank. By praising the intensity, all right, TJ.
Watt is obviously suddenly calling out Mike Tomlin. You can't

(15:13):
praise the new guy without ripping the old guy. And
he's essentially saying, hey listen, Tomlin, here he had benches.
It was like, you know, the what was the line
they used when Russell Wilson was there, bros at the
barber shop, right, and you know it was very comfortable.

Speaker 1 (15:28):
It was a country club.

Speaker 2 (15:30):
It seemed like they did find to me they made
the playoffs pretty much every year they had a winning.

Speaker 1 (15:33):
Record or they didn't have a losing record. And so
he's got it. Well, it's different.

Speaker 2 (15:39):
Now, that's different, Okay, keeping it real. This is classic
offseason cosplay. Watt is pretending that he's a hardened marine.

Speaker 1 (15:50):
He got out of boot camp.

Speaker 2 (15:51):
Just because Mike McCarthy made the players stretch on time,
and he took away a place to it at practice,
and he's doing exactly we'll talk about TJ. Watt doing
exactly what every corporate employee does when the new boss
walks in frantically kissing the ring before.

Speaker 1 (16:13):
It's even on the finger. It is the oldest move
in the playbook.

Speaker 2 (16:18):
Pretending you absolutely love discipline, you can't get enough discipline,
and we know the opposite is true.

Speaker 1 (19:24):
Actually? What do they actually know what the word is?
Do they know what the word is?

Speaker 7 (19:29):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (19:30):
Yeah, I don't. I don't care. Who cares.

Speaker 2 (19:33):
Tim the Great Tim mcdarby sends a lot of stuff.
He sent this story along and I didn't see this
is actually good story. So the people at FIFA have
informed us there was a glitch at their website and
dozens of fans are getting apparently they got free tickets

(19:53):
to the World Cup. Yeah, the FIFA regrets the free
World Cup tickets and they're demanding fans pay up for Yeah,
good luck.

Speaker 1 (20:06):
Come on, who goofed?

Speaker 2 (20:09):
I've got to know that's great price gouging everyone painting
over murals in Dallas. Price gouging people that want to
use public transportation in Boston and New York to go
watch the World Cup games. And sometimes it comes back
to get you. Sometimes that bites you back. And you

(20:29):
know what, Milkman Mike says, no milk deliveries this morning
doing the lift and uber thing before the trip to
Steamboat Springs for a weekend race.

Speaker 1 (20:40):
He has his co pilot, he's got the BUCkies. He's

Speaker 8 (21:52):
Good, good tech masks. Get people fixed for the World Cup.

Speaker 1 (21:55):
World Cup is not it's not going on yet.

Speaker 8 (21:58):
Yeah, it's on Thursday, though it's gonna be the first.

Speaker 2 (22:01):
Well I know this is This is Friday, though, that's
not till next Thursday.

Speaker 8 (22:04):
Oh, you're right. But anyway, so we'll wait for that. Okay,
sounds good.

Speaker 7 (22:08):
But anyways, Lorena, this is a moment people have been waiting.

Speaker 3 (22:11):
Here.

Speaker 7 (22:12):
Ship the music, please, Poppy pick.

Speaker 1 (22:17):
I don't. I don't hear any music.

Speaker 8 (22:18):
I don't.

Speaker 1 (22:18):
I don't hear any music.

Speaker 8 (22:19):
All right, maybe sitting here, sorry that grimlins were at
second Lorena, hit the music, please.

Speaker 4 (22:26):
Don't kill Let me find the music, don't don't. Yeah,
come on, come on here, let me let me do this.

Speaker 1 (22:34):
Oh my god, I.

Speaker 8 (22:35):
Gotta give what they want them Mallard.

Speaker 4 (22:38):
They want to pick nobody wants these picks.

Speaker 7 (22:41):
Yeah they do, all.

Speaker 1 (22:43):
Right, all right, here I want to give.

Speaker 2 (22:45):
I'm gonna give you forty two seconds and you're on
your way.

Speaker 8 (22:48):
Go guys, A tri picked the pick tomorrow the MDA.
We got this game to Nika Poker. The whole world's
on them.

Speaker 7 (22:58):
They're plus second and a half against the Spern We're
going to opportunate. We're going with Victor Warpagema minus takes
and a half under revenge game yesterday and onto the
next the base wall, the Pogies. My local teams are
doing tough, sorry, losing five in a row, but.

Speaker 8 (23:15):
They gotta win sooner or later. Right against this horrible match, We're.

Speaker 7 (23:18):
Taking the San Diego Pards and minus one three and
a revenge came SA defense for last the.

Speaker 9 (23:26):
Matt in La Los Angeles Angels against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Speaker 7 (23:31):
They've had this circle the whole thirty two seconds, all right,
minus minus one all right, all right, yeah, yeah, yeah,
I gave you forty two seconds and you went over.

Speaker 1 (23:41):
You went over. I love how Poppy just make stuff up.

Speaker 2 (23:43):
I have the numbers from DraftKings and sant Anto on
the money line. San Antonio's minus two eighteen and seventy
percent of the action at least on DraftKings is on
San Antonio. And then the line on DraftKings is five
five and a half. I know it's six and a half.
Elsewhere on DraftKings it's five and a half. Spurs are

(24:05):
favored by five and a half. The Knicks are getting
more of the bets. However, the money is pretty even,
and the money is where the professionals are, so that's.

Speaker 1 (24:16):
Pretty even at that point.

Speaker 2 (24:18):
And if you're into betting overs and unders, the total
on the game's DraftKings has it at two fourteen and
a half. Most people are betting both the bets, and
the money is on the over over.

Speaker 1 (24:32):
Two fourteen combined to fourteen and a half.

Speaker 2 (24:34):
Let's go back to the calls. Calls are so good. We
have the Kop scoop on entertainment. Let's say hello to
Marcel in Brookland. Hello Marcel in Brooklyn.

Speaker 3 (24:45):
Oh, good morning, Bend. The Knick are on fire. One
nothing for us going to two games to none tonight

do you know the New York Knicks and the San

Yeah, it was great. All right, We're gonna start off
in the theaters as.

Speaker 10 (30:14):
We always do here on Koop Scoop on Entertainment, and
this is a big weekend at the movie theaters. First
of all, we have the return of the Scary Movie franchise.

Speaker 4 (30:26):
Yes, it is back.

Speaker 1 (30:27):
And how many have they made?

Speaker 2 (30:28):
Now?

Speaker 8 (30:29):
Is this?

Speaker 4 (30:29):
I think this is the sixth one.

Speaker 1 (30:31):
Oh my god.

Speaker 10 (30:33):
But it's been a very long time since they've made one,
so oh okay, yeah, I think I think Scary Movie
five was in twenty thirteen, so it's been.

Speaker 1 (30:43):
It doesn't seem like that's that long ago, but I
guess it is.

Speaker 10 (30:47):
Unfortunately it is. And as as one might be able
to predict, the critics thought that this movie was terrible,
while audiences loved it. So I think that's kind of
par for the course with these scary movie parodies. But
it's supposed to be super offensive, so go run and

(31:08):
check it out. I know I will be also in
theaters this weekend is Masters of the Universe.

Speaker 4 (31:16):
That's right, Ben, this is this is right up your alley.

Speaker 1 (31:18):
Right, yeah, it's he Man.

Speaker 4 (31:23):
This before my time.

Speaker 2 (31:25):
Saturday morning cartoons, Coop, You wouldn't understand that was a
cultural experience if you have a certain age.

Speaker 10 (31:30):
Well, we had a we had I had Saturday morning cartoons.
They were just different cartoons.

Speaker 1 (31:35):
Like well, ours were better.

Speaker 4 (31:37):
Mine was Mine was like Pokemon and and recess.

Speaker 1 (31:40):
We had he Man, we had uh what else do
we have? We had uh? I forget. We had a bunch.
It was the superhero a lot of superhero stuff. G
I Joe.

Speaker 2 (31:50):
There was a G I Joe cartoon, the documentary on
Netflix about the toys that made us remember yes year
they all had. Part of the deal was if you
had new toys, you had to get a TV show
on Saturday.

Speaker 1 (32:01):
Morning to sell the toys.

Speaker 4 (32:02):
Well there you go that this this movie matters at
the universe.

Speaker 1 (32:06):
It is.

Speaker 10 (32:07):
It is being praised by both critics and audiences alike.
The actor who plays he Man I have never heard
of before, Nicholas gallat scene.

Speaker 1 (32:20):
But there's a question mark at the name.

Speaker 4 (32:23):
Yes, But there are some.

Speaker 10 (32:26):
Some actors that you may recognize also starring in this,
such as Alison Bree, Kristin Wig, Jared Leto, Idris Elba.
Jared Leto plays Skeletor by the way, So that's that
should be interesting. Yeah, so you know, all kinds of
good stuff in theaters this weekend. Moving over to television,
we have this is kind of a reboot. It is

(32:49):
Cape Fear. So this is a new series on Apple
TV based off of the novel, but also there was
the movie at Apations in nineteen sixty two and nineteen
ninety one, and so basically this follows a happily married couple,
Amy Adams and Patrick Wilson, who are stalked by a
man from their past, a killer who has just been

(33:11):
released from prison played by Javier Bardam who plays a
great villain. As you may know, Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg,
who directed and produced the nineteen ninety one film, both
serve as producers on this new series on Apple TV
that is available to stream right now. Also on television,

(33:32):
we have you know. This is something that I'm gonna
bring up just you know, something for you to watch
with your lady. It's a rom com. It's a rom
com movie on Netflix available right now. It's called Office
Romance and it stars the Queen of rom coms, Jennifer
Lopez and Brett Goldstein from from.

Speaker 4 (33:53):
The some other Thing, The Show with the Soccer Coach.

Speaker 2 (34:00):

Speaker 10 (34:19):
But basically this is a raunchy straight to streaming on
Netflix movie.

Speaker 5 (34:24):
Uh.

Speaker 10 (34:24):
Basically, Jennifer Lopez plays the CEO of an airline who
finds herself attracted to one of her new employees. Betty Gilpin,
Edward James almost Amy Sedaris also star in this movie
that is on Netflix. And last, but not least, I'm
gonna bring this up because it was popular at Cannes Series,

(34:45):
which is the international TV festival held in can Just
you know, not the movie one, but it's called Alison Steve.
It is on Hulu on Monday, June eighth. And this
is supposed to be an anti romantic comedy. A British
antimantic comedy is getting a good good reviews. Check that out,
