in La Download Fox one, Fox won, and experience the
game live. We now pause and we'll get back to
the live reads and a few I'm told we have
a Mallard monologue to do, and so that we will do.
And this is but this is quite the story that
(04:52):
we need to talk about here. So the lead this
hour from the scandal department. Yes, story. While people were
paying attention to these other sporting events, the Stanley Cup
Final where the Carolina Hurricanes went away from winning the
Stanley Cup and honoring the legacy of the Hartford Whalers
back in the day, and the NBA Finals and all that,
(05:15):
and all these events, the World Cup. Well, major League
Baseball they have some protection from these other events. The
investigators of Major League Baseball are planning to question doctor
Neil Elatrosh. Now you might not know who that is
unless you're really involved in the weeds of professional sports.
But this guy. When I was doing stuff with the
(05:35):
Dodgers years ago, there was a guy named doctor Frank
Job who came up with the Tommy John surgery and
then he got to well, he passed away a couple
of years actually many years ago, and he was replaced
by doctor Neil Latrosh. This is like the top guy.
He's the top surgeon in all of sports these days.
And the reason this is a thing is because he
(05:56):
was involved with Connor McGregor. Doctor Elatrosh and MacGregor used
a ped used some steroids, according to this story I
was reading. I think it was in the analytic during
his recovery from that big leg injury a while back.
So if you didn't see this, perhaps not the reason
this is a thing.
Speaker 2 (06:16):
Here.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
Doctor Latrash, the sports doctor to the stars, is the
most prominent orthopedic surgeon, and he's the one that oversaw
the operation on Connor McGregor. He then referred McGregor to
another doctor, a bone healing specialist who prescribed the peds.
(06:38):
Now Elatrosh reportedly wrote a letter supporting McGregor's application for
Therapeutic use Therapeutic Use Exemption a TUE, which would have
allowed medical use of otherwise prohibited steroids illegal drugs without penalty. Now,
(06:59):
the reason just to continue to put the bow on this.
The anti doping people. We'll have to check with the
late night drug testers. One of our fans, the anti
doping officials viewed this as an attempt to exploit a loophole.
So that's the deal. Now major League Baseball's involved, Their
investigating investigators are involved in this, so that is a
(07:21):
good jumping off point. Let us discuss the question. Is
major League Baseball investigating the very famous orthopedic surgeon, doctor
Neil latrosh over Connimery Rigger's alleged ped use a big deal.
It's a little deal or no deal. So we'll we'll
(07:42):
talk about this. I've got I've got Harribo, nineteen eighty, sitcom,
and Bookworm, and we'll combine all of these things together
and we're going to assault your ear and your mouth
and your stomach because we're going to have the gabbagool
and the barbacanoo and we're going to enjoy all of that.
So to lead off, though, on our scorecard, the question
(08:05):
was this very well known orthopedic surgeon, doctor Neileu Trash
being investigated by Major League Baseball? Big deal, little deal
or no deal on our malor scorecard, it's a little deal.
Masquerading is a ginormous, ginormous story. It should be a
big deal. It's not. And the reason it's not, I'll
(08:28):
tell you why. Because Major League Baseball treats the probes
into performance enhancing drugs like optional homework. The investigative arm
of Major League Baseball is comically bad. Let's not forget.
Years ago, major League Baseball opened an investigation. There were
a number of teams in baseball complaining that there was
(08:50):
this team in Houston that was cheating. They were using
contraband to cheat in games, stealing signs, and teams complain.
Major League Baseball said, don't worry about it. We're gonna
investigate this. We can get to the bottom of it.
So they opened an investigation into the ass one thousand
and two, one thousand hole. So they started investigating them.
(09:12):
They had a full investigation, said nothing to see here.
Everything's good. No cheating in Houston. That's Major League Baseball's investigation.
It was only after a whistleblower said here's how they
did it, and here's everything they did, and then Baseball
had to say, uh oh, who goofed? I've got to know.
(09:36):
Now back to the point at hand, the reality of
this investigation into the top surgeon in sports, the Major
League Baseball investigative arm. They have as sharp a teeth.
Their teeth are about as sharp as biting into a
harribal gummy bear. All right, they're gummy bears. They have
(09:57):
no subpoena power, no level bridge. They're not law enforcement.
There's no real mechanism that Baseball has to challenge a
surgeon whose client list reads like a Hall of Fame ballot.
That's the thing. Like doctor Elatrosh is the orthopedic pope,
he's the go to guy. He has treated the biggest
(10:18):
names in sports. And do they want to open up
that can work. We're talking about Tom Brady, who is
able to defy aging into his mid forties. So you
start connecting the dots on this. You say, well, doctor Elatrosh,
and this is going on. What's going on? Brady went
to him Sho Hail Tani has had him as a
(10:42):
doctor a surgeon. In fact, of the last twenty nine
cy Young Winners and MVPs, this guy has had eighteen
of them as clients, eighteen of the last twenty nine.
So you think Baseball is going to be excommunicating this guy,
Come on, come on now. The investigation is basically asking
(11:03):
It's like asking the valet if he stole the car,
did you do it?
Speaker 2 (11:07):
Now?
Speaker 1 (11:07):
I didn't do it. Okay, case closed, We're good bye
bye the surgeon to the stars, He'll say, didn't do it,
had nothing to do it. I got plausible deniability. And
Major League Baseball's Keystone cops will say, perfect, that's all
we needed. We're good. And I'm telling you Baseball is
not gonna digive it. If something happens, it's gonna involve
(11:29):
the Feds. They have to get involved in this. Everyone's
gonna look the other way. These guys are too important.
The legend, the legacy of Tom Brady, the show hal
Tani right now, can you imagine if this as something
they actually investigated and it turns out that Tom Brady's
a fraud and that he was doing steroids all those
years at the end of his career and all that stuff,
and Otani's doing steroids. Oh my god, that would be
(11:52):
the biggest story in sports. And so even if they're
I don't think they're you know, whether they're doing it
or not, I don't believe it matters. They're not gonna dig.
No one's gonna dig here. They're just gonna dust the
surface with a feather duster, because again, Baseball's investigators, Keystone cops,
and the surgeon will say, you know, I didn't do it,
(12:13):
and the Keystone cops a baseball will say, okay, perfect,
That's all we needed. Case clows, all right. Furthermore to
Boston we go, where the Red Sox are preparing to
have a going out of business sale in the early
August trade deadline closer Eraledus Chapman, one of the few
bright lights in the black hole that is the Red
(12:33):
Sox season Eraaldis Chapman said this week that Yankees general
manager Brian Cashman owes him an apology if a trade
back to New York ever happens. That's one of the rumors.
We talked about this the other day. Chapman's been connected
to the Yankees. Their bullpens got a few leaks in it.
Chapman has done a couple of tours of duty with
the Yankees. He's now thirty eight, I believe, and he's
(12:56):
been pretty good sub Era sub I'm told that's good.
Good strikeout numbers, the nerd stats, pretty good save rate,
outstanding limited innings this season, which means he figures to
be fresher. And that's always a concern when you acquire
relief pitchers at the deadline. Have they been burned out?
How many innings that they have left in them? So,
(13:18):
the Red Sox are in last place in the American
League East, and they are going to have a tremendous
door buster sale. In fact, I actually was talking to
Alf the alienal pinter. He's thinking about buying one of
the backup infielders. They're just the Red Sox are just
gonna sell everybody for cash considerations. So Alf's gonna send
(13:40):
twenty dollars and a couple of T shirts over and
they'll be good. Now, the question should Yankees GM Brian
Cashman apologize to Red Sox closer Eraaldas Chapman so on
this one, I am I am shaking my head. No,
I'm get a headache and I'm gonna get dizzy If
(14:00):
I keep doing this, I'm shaking my dough. Cashman's smugness
is the stuff of legend. It's next level. However, after
a minutes long investigation which led to a deliberation of
the available evidence, Cashman should not apologize because he's right
on this one. The whole drama, if you don't remember,
(14:21):
the whole drama, stems from a very very messy and
to Chapman's second stint in the Bronx. So let's go
way back to twenty twenty two. I was a little
kid in twenty twenty two and Brian Brian Cashman the
GM There he literally lost the Yankees' closer, one of
(14:42):
my all time favorite baseball injuries. Chapman couldn't picture the
Yankees because of an infection he got from a tattoo. Yeah, tattoo.
He's not the first guy in baseball. I remember. There's
a guy for the Montreal Expos named Jeff Juden. The
reason I remember his name is because I I was.
I met him at a bar I was out drinking
(15:04):
with it was a radio reporter. He happened to show
up and he was a total schmuck. But he pitched
for the Expos. And he missed a start at the
beginning here because he got a tattoo and he wasn't
able to pitch. Well, Raleis Chapman, who's a Hall of
Fame level closer. He had a tattoo in twenty twenty
two and it got infected. And that's not baseball drama.
(15:25):
That's like a nineteen eighty sitcom with a laugh track. Hey,
can we go to our clothes? We can't go to
our closer. Why not? Well, he went to the he
went to the tattoo shop and for some reason, the
tattoo on the lower back it got infected. Okay, so
then he also skipped Chapman a mandatory team workout that
(15:47):
was in the playoffs playoffs before the divisional series, claiming
he had permission he was in Miami anyway that that
became a thing. Cashman called it in subordination find him
and left him off the playoff roster. But wait, there's more.
Now if you look at Chapman now claims someone from
the organization needs to apologize the Red Sox closer if
(16:10):
he were to be traded back, And that's what he said.
Now a divisional rival trade the Yankees and Red Sox
have made some trades. It happens about once every generation. Right,
it is a trade between the Yankees and Red Sox
is already more unlikely than me stepping out of the
(16:32):
closet and announcing I'm now a vegan. Okay, like no
cashman owes him nothing on this one, all right. Last
thing to the parsing of the words in New England,
where A. J. Brown, very vocal, he waxed loquacious. The
(16:53):
Patriots wide receiver was laying it on thick. I was
talking about Drake May at the mandatory mini camp this week.
Brown called the early connection with the quarterback a quote
great start. He then spent about ten minutes praising the
many abilities of Drake May. Here's a quote from AJ Brown. No,
(17:16):
I'm not AJ Brown, but I will pretend to be
AJ Brown, saying the quote. The talent speaks for itself,
he said of Drake May, he can make any throw.
But I think AJ Brown said that what's more impressive
to me is that he knows what he's doing. To
be that young and to understand the defense, and to
(17:37):
understand every little check, the hots, the blitzes, all those
things so fast. Very impressive he's a true leader of men.
It's crazy to see at a young age. And close
quote question, how did AJ Brown's praise of Patriots quarterback
Drake May play in your eardrups? Now, for the low
(18:02):
educated fan, this sounded like some harmless sports cliches and
just it's going on and on. It's not all right.
This was a message in a bottle. Now we have
our decoder ring, so we're able to figure this out.
This was not just praise of Drake May. It was
a coded Yelp review comparing a new five star restaurant
(18:28):
to the old greasy spoon that he used to go to.
Now we know that Brown is a worm, a bookworm.
He's an avid reader, even read books on the sidelines
with the Eagles. On this one though, he's following Aj
Brown the Devil Wide Receiver Handbook, Devol Wide Receiver Handbook,
like it's a court ordered mandate. Reading so loudly, how loudly,
(18:54):
So loudly, you can hear the page's turning, that's how
loud And so the way I interpreted what Brown said,
he completely indicted Jalen Hurts like the way Brown was
talking about Drake May like a man who finally found
a quarterback who texts him back soft, launching a new relationship,
(19:14):
and just really giddy, like New England rescued him from
captivity in Philadelphia, and by gushing about Drake May and
all the things that he does processing information, It's like,
what was he really saying to me? Aj Brown is saying, Hey,
I've got Drake May. He's like Google Fiber Internet. And
(19:38):
the guy I had in Philadelphia, my ex in Philadelphia
was AOL dial up, AOL dial up internet back in
the oldest kids. Look it up if you don't know
what that is. It was a brutal, passive, aggressive masterpiece
by AJ Brown, essentially telling the world that Jalen Hurts
can't read defenses, he doesn't adjust, he can't make all
(20:01):
the throws. And the guy that I have now is
my quarterback. He can do that. So and he's like Hurts,
you could hand him a Rosetta stone and he still
wouldn't be able to figure it out. It is the
Ben Mahllor Show. As we are rolling through the overnight,

big executive for the Red Sox. He said the season
is embarrassing, which I believe is an understatement. But all
(20:43):
those young players of the Red Sox. Bet on they're
either hurt or they're underperforming. What a mess. Bet on
the minor leagues. A prospect is a suspect until proven otherwise.
Straight ahead the coop scoop on entertainment. Hooray for Hollley Wold.
Hooray for Hollley Wood. We'll get to that and we'll
