Speaker 1 (00:00):
Boom goes to the dynamite. It's our naber fars. We
make an all out effort to continue talking all of
our number four is the Ben Maler Show. Happy Monday.
It is the fifteenth day of June. And here in
our number four, will Jalen brunts lead New York into
dynasty mode? Is this the beginning of a Knickerbocker dynasty.
(00:24):
We'll take a look at that. You're gonna stamp it
or scrap it the idea that this is going to
be a dynasty. And the grassroots movement for the Knicks
giving some Nick fans starting a grassroots movement for the
Knicks to give Spike Lee a championship ring? Is that
a gold Star plan or a Dunce cap? And are
you okay with Victor Wembanyama saying the Spurs absolutely dominated
(00:48):
for most of the series, in which they lost in
only five games. Yep, Wenby said that over the weekend,
so they absolutely dominated the Spurs most of the series.
We'll talk about all that and more right now, settle in,
have a wonderful beginning of your week. Happy Monday to you.
Here we go, it's our number four, just the beginning.
(01:12):
Let the good times roll. That's what you're telling me.
I don't know about that. Welcome in the beginning of
another hour of the Ben Malor Show. We are in
the air ev Reware, just townfolk as we hang out
(01:33):
together here, and we know trouble is brewing coast to coast,
border to border and beyond on the vast and grandiosely
powerful microphones of fsre am moinating lie good lie from
the market, the flea market of hot takes garanteed human
(01:55):
from the world famous Fox Sports radio studios where Perito,
the guy that weed man, can't remember his name, and
I said, Hey, what's the guy that sent you the canyon?
I don't know. It's Purito, not a burrito, although it
sounds like a burrito, but no, Yeah, it's calm down,
all right anyway, this portion, according to Purto, this portion
(02:17):
of the show made possible in part by our friends
at Fox One. That's right. The excitement of the FIFA
World Cup is now streaming live on Fox one, the
official English streaming platform to catch every unforgettable moment. Fox
one brings the action straight to your screen so you
never miss a goal. I know that's a big deal
(02:37):
for not a Burner and for everyone else as well.
You don't miss a goal. Download Fox one and experience
the FIFA World Cup live. We'll do it live. We'll
do it live. And then there was a message from
slug in Vegas, the hostess with the mostess, who said, Ben,
can you please talk about tires? I said, well, okay,
if you want me to talk about tyres, I will.
(02:57):
For over forty years, tyre Rack has been helping customers
like the legendary and I do mean legendary Jill from
Minnesota find the right tires for how, what and where
they drive. And that's the way to do it. Ship
fast and freeback by free road hazard protection with convenient
installation options like mobile tire installation, tire act dot com.
(03:21):
The way tire buying should should be see And so
you're probably don't. You're gonna get on with a monologue.
And if Joe the Ghost Hunter I met this guy.
He's a big stunt. If this guy tells you to
do something, you got to do it. And it was
big grig. Rob nodded in the back of the room,
and then Paul and Ottawa, all these guys, It's like, Wow,
upgrade your FIFA World Cup twenty twenty six. Set up,
(03:44):
build it like Beckham from living room to lawn, from
the home depot or with the home depot should say
and take the fast free delivery. Assist the home depot.
Official FIFA World Cup twenty twenty six supporter, subject to vilability.
All right, we'll very good. Here here we go. We'll
do the Yeah, let's me move that over here, move
(04:06):
this over here, and our lead this hour playing the hits,
mom Man, play the hits. So we will discuss the
goings on post mortem in the NBA. Just to annoy you,
just to upset you, we are going to do this
one more time. We've talked about the losers, and that
(04:27):
would be Wemby and the Spurs. We turn our attention
to pro bouncy ball here for the first time in
fifty three years. That is two generations, New York, New
York rules the NBA. As Jalen Brunson. He sat over
the weekend forty five points, including thirteen straight in the
fourth quarter, as the Knicks wrap things up in five games.
(04:51):
And now much of the chatter this happens every time
a team with the championship, Well, this is it. This
is the start dinas dynasty. You seen any of that noise,
Not too much, but there was a little uptick over
the weekend. So some of the Knickerbocker fanboys were yapping
(05:14):
about this just being the beginning that the Knicks are
set up. Now that Brunson's in the prime of his
career and the core of this group is not going anywhere,
They're gonna be sticking around, and that means sustained contention
and success. Of course, to be a dynasty, you gotta
(05:34):
win a lot, not just get to the playoffs and
go far in the places. You gotta win, all right,
So that is a good jumping up point. Let us
discuss the question will Jalen Brunson be able to lead
to will the New York Pro Bouncy Ball team into
dynasty mode? Do you stamp it or scrap it the
(05:54):
idea that the Knicks are a burgeoning dynasty in the NBA.
So I've got floor and de cores or Philly fanatic
and exorcism, and we will combine all of these things
together and we will rhapsodize while we enjoy the Gabba
ghoul and the Baba ganoosh A right not to tip
off here, we are in terms of are you snamping
(06:17):
it or scrapping it? We are scrapping this right to
the scrap yard. Every champion in my adult life, every
time a team wins a championship, you hear the buzz,
you hear the noise. Oh, dynasty, dynasty, you hear that,
and the vast majority of them do not work out,
(06:37):
certainly recently, if you look at where we're at right now,
and we know past results do not guarantee future outcomes
and all that wonderful stuff. However, if you look at
what has happened here, like parody rules in the NBA
right now, there have been not one, not two, not three,
not four, not five, not six, not seven. How about
(06:58):
eight different champions in eight years. Unprecedented. That is the
new NBA. And the owners, misguided as they were, they
were upset that the glamour teams, the super teams were
winning and they had ability to keep their players. And
so what they did is they made it easier for
the smaller market teams to succeed. I say that as
(07:21):
the Knicks won the championship. But the idea, the concept
is we're just gonna have different teams and you can't
really succeed for more than a year or two and
then that's it, and dynasties have simply not been able
to grow in the current climate under the rules of
the NBA. And the Knicks their run was a comet,
(07:42):
not a vomit comet, like a real comet. And it's
like one of these things where once in a blue moon,
like the next things lined up and congratulations. But if
you check with Floor and Decor, I check with them,
because this was a magic carpet ride for the New
York Knicks, and very rarely do you have back to
(08:03):
back magic carpet rides. They peaked in the playoffs, they
didn't peak too soon. The Knicks peaked in the playoffs
and they ended up beating the Twinkies, the Cupcakes, and
the Ding Dongs in the East. And then watched the
San Antonio Spurs give a clinic and it was really
more like a donation on how to blow leads. It's
(08:25):
like giving back to a charity telethon or better off,
when when you're checking out of the store and you
do self checkout and they say would you like to
round up and donate, you know, an extra seventy five
cents to some charity so the company can get the
tax right off and not you that kind of thing.
So besides, the odometer is taking my main point with
(08:48):
the Knicks. The reason I'm skeptical about this becoming a
thing more than a one off situation. You've got Jalen
Brouns who's about to turn thirty. Older guards generally don't
age that well. Carl Anthony Towns who's staring down thirty one. Again,
these are not old ages in real life and sports,
they become problematic. Mckael Bridges and Josh Harder right behind
those guys, and so everyone's around the same. They're in
(09:11):
the prime of their careers. That is true historically, though.
You start getting that amount of players into their thirties
and it's more likely than not you're gonna have snap
crackle pop. If you don't believe me, asked the Golden
State Warriors, who have been consistently experiencing that in recent years.
It's a problem. And then comes the apron from the
(09:33):
top rope. The apron what not the kitchen kind mind you,
the fugase financial chokehold that the NBA owners put in
to discourage dynasties, massive salary cap hits for Karl Anthony Towns.
I think I saw, I think I read over the
(09:53):
weekend was a fifty seven million dollars for Karl Anthony Towns.
O g Annobi at forty two million dollars, as Jerome
and Charleston pointed out, never been an All Star. And
so in theory, these big contracts are going to push
the Knickerbockers into salary cap hell Dante's Inferno, the salary
(10:14):
cap edition that means no flexibility and likely going to
lose some of the key players on the rotation. The
backside of the rotation Mitchell Robinson, which I was look
at Mischal Robinson. I feel good like I can make
foul shots at a higher clip than Mitchell Robinson. The
foul shot is the one thing every man, woman and
child of decent health should be able to do. No
(10:35):
one's guarding you. You just stand there, the ref bounces
the ball to you, You take the ball, You dribble
a couple of times, nobody can block it. You just
make the shot. And yet he's the worst foul shooter
Mitchell Robinson of all time, and so supposedly he's one
of the guys on the list to leave or the
big board rather to leave. You've got Landry Shammitt, the
former Clipper, who is a champion now and he's likely
(10:58):
out the door as well. So one title, it's gonna
blow your mind. One title does not equal the dynasty
and all the key indicators pointing towards the Knicks being
a one off, an aberration, and this is not going
to be a normal situation. They didn't enter dynasty mode
the Knickerbockers. They entered the enjoy it wallet, last era
(11:21):
of the Knicks. And so they did climb Mount Everest. Congratulations,
you climbed Everest. And that's great. And the oxygen tank
is already starting a blank and we're gonna get more oction.
A bit of a problem, all right. Furthermore, to celebrity Row,
we go, what's on the route celebrity row. So some
Knick fans are calling for Spike Lee to get a
(11:45):
championship ring. Yes, that's I know. You didn't hear about this, okay,
So Spike Lee, last I checked, the last time he
played basketball was in commercials with Michael Jordan back many
years ago, forty years ago. So some Knick fans are
calling for Spike Lee to get a championship ring after
(12:06):
his fendom, his die hard Knickerbocker fandom for the past
forty plus years been a Knick fan. So Spike says
he spends around three hundred thousand dollars a year on
court side season tickets, while a lot of the celebrity
crowd don't pay for their tickets. Spike of course got
into a dust up at Madison Square Garden and he
(12:28):
pays for his tickets there. And he says he's spent
over ten million dollars overall in his life on Knicks tickets.
Ten million to watch that Drek. That's what the Knicks
have been most of the time, Drek, and they finally
went all right. So the question, let's get down to
business here. The question is this this grassroots campaign, slash
(12:53):
movement for the Knicks to give Spike Lee a championship ring?
Is it a gold Star or a Dunce cap gold
Star or a Dunsch cap. So giving Spike a ring,
would you might as well just go down to the
haberdasherie and get that cap. I'm a size eight, so
(13:14):
if you want to get me, I'll wear that's a
that's a size eight there, It's like, why would you
give Spike a ring for what? For sitting courtside and
yelling at the referees. You can give him a ring
for that. And this is exactly what happens when fandom
drifts into cosplay. That's what I've And we separate church
(13:35):
and state, we also need to separate the locker room
from the team shop. And Spike Lee is big Knicks fan.
He's also just a glorified cheerleader. When everything is said
and done, more is said than done. And he's got
better seats and better tailoring than the cheerleaders. But that's fine.
(13:55):
And so you spent three hundred thousand dollars a year.
That does not make you It's gonna blow your mind.
It does not make you part of the roster. What
are you talking about, Malor? Yeah, it makes you a
platinum tier customer for Dolan. Jim Dolan. You're like, this
is one of our great customers. We are bamboozling three
(14:16):
hundred thousand dollars out of this guy per year. That
is outstanding. That is freaking wonderful. Now, Spike not a nick,
Not a nick, very loud, very loyal, a wealthy accessory
for the knicker Bockex here he's a super fan and
not the six Man. Not the six Man has never
(14:39):
boxed out anyone except possibly a cameraman at one point here,
and giving him a ring would be mascot energy. And
I know this does happen every once in a while
where the teams will hand out rings. Didn't the Raptors
do that when they won one of their big celebrity
fans or a local celebrity got a ring. But I
look at Spike and like he's essentially the Philly fanatic
(15:03):
of the Knicks. He just has that director's chair, that's
essentially it. And he's going to spend ten million dollars
his life on tickets and not ten minutes, not even
one minute guarding Wemby. And the fact that some teams
have given out these rings is I find it weak
sauce to fans. I do if Spike wants to get
(15:23):
a ring, I'm sure the Nicks will have this promotion
next year on the promotional calendar, replica Championship Ring Night.
Make sure Spike when he's out there, he gets one,
and then he can have one of the rings. Just
like water this stuff down. They shouldn't be given that
stuff out. Honorary rings are like, it's like giving everyone
a Marconio. Word we in radio, we get the Marconi.
You can't have to serve a Marconi unless they're here.
(15:46):
You can't get a Marconi. What's wrong with you? Or
it's like an honorary doctorate, an honorary doctor right, nice gesture.
There's not a lot of impact on that. And so
there you go. If Spike gets a ring, who's next?
I recommend the guy on section one to twelve at
the garden who sells the corn dog on a stick,
(16:09):
And that's the guy that should get the get the
party started there at the garden. All right?
Speaker 2 (16:13):
Now?
Speaker 1 (16:13):
Meanwhile, last thing, I want to go back one more time.
I'm not done badgering Victor Wembanyama. So Wemby had a
viral quote after the Spurs were eliminated, and it's so good.
Several of you reached out to me and said, did
you see this spin? And I had not seen it,
(16:36):
and so here we go. Wembanyama. He went viral after
the NBA Finals. He said the margin of error is
very thin. He said of the Spurs and the Knicks
our domination stints are absolute. Wemby said, we absolutely dominated
for most of the series. Bad you know what that
(16:59):
means our errors, our mistakes are punished so hard that
we can't have ups and downs like this. The ups
are okay, the downs are the reason we lost. Now,
the money quote is obvious. So the question on this
one here it is, are you okay with Victor Wembanyama
(17:21):
saying that the Spurs quote absolutely dominated for most of
this series, in which they lost in only five games.
So to answer this, police, police is the answer I got.
We're giving this quote the full Benny Bug eye. That's
getting the Benny Bug eye treatment on this one, the
(17:44):
kind you reserve for UFO sightings, and there's apparently been
a bunch of them, according to every week there's new
revelations from UFO Nation and all that. Here's the problem.
It's rather obvious domination and this can blow your mind.
Typically involve don't be a hater. Yeah, I know, small detail.
(18:06):
It's just a little detail you actually have to win
in order for domination. Unfortunately Wemby, I feel bad for him.
He's hypnotized. I believe Wemby has been hornswoggled by the
analytical nerds to think that a blown twenty nine point
lead is a moral victory for the San Antonio Spurs.
(18:27):
That's the vibe I'm getting from Wemby that he's a
young lad. He's his whole life. All he knows is
this nerdom. And unfortunately, because Wemby has been hypnotized by
the analytical dorks out there that this is where we are,
and you know, watch the games, you're like, well, he's
(18:49):
living in the land of almost, the land of all
almost got it done. However, you don't get credit, unfortunately
for the part of the movie before the plot twist
kills you. That's not what you're going to get credit
for there. And you're judged over the full forty eight minutes.
The fact that you played very well for thirty or
thirty five minutes or even forty minutes, played with dominance
(19:11):
doesn't change the outcome, which is ultimately what you're judged by.
And the Spurs were finalists in many people's eyes. They
were finalists in our eyes. They were artisans. Now, how
were the Spurs artisans? They were artisans of the collapse,
the collapse artist, the choke artist, and melt down merchants.
The San Antonio Spurs, disheveled professional bedwetters at the most
(19:36):
important time here, and they have that surrender reflex instead
of that killer instinct that would appear to be the
problem as I diagnose the San Antonio Spurs and Wemby.
And yet here is Wemby, very braggadocious out there the
big leads for failing to point out the elephant in
the room, the amount of blown leads and how poor
(19:58):
he played in the final few minut it's of every
one of those games. And so we really need a
basketball exorcism for Wemby. Get that analytical dogma, that brain
rot out of his head. It's too bad. And his
clutch gen he might want to find the clutch sheen.
Maybe you can bite on Timu or Amazon the clutch gene.
(20:20):
Either he doesn't have it or it's on airplane mode,
no signal, no service, no bars, no chance for the Spurs.
It is the Ban Malor Show. If you'd like to
be part eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox, that's
eight seven seven nine six three sixty nine. If you'd
like to be part of the live program. And so
(20:43):
it's not just your normal trip. You've got protests drones,
dogs and escorts, all kinds of stuff. What is that
all about? Also, NFL owners are actually just owners in general,
say the darness things. We'll get to that story as well.
We'll do it all, and we will do it next.

So Coop. Marcel sent me a message saying, please tell

Coop to call me, please, So he refuses to give

gave and you blew it. No, I didn't blow it.
I called the number. He gave me Uncle Dynamite's number.
He didn't give me his number. He gave me Uncle Dynamite' number.
So I called Uncle Dynamite and Uncle Damon was like,
(23:38):
well who is this? And then so and then that
became a problem. So uh well, I'll take a call
and then somebody will hang up, and then you'll you'll

the colleges whom donate more than three hundred thousand a year.
Stupid spike. No, I'm saying he shouldn't get a ring.
(24:02):
I don't know. You like, I don't know if you're
pushing back on that people saying he should get a ring.
I was like you no, And I bet you there's
other guys that we don't know about that. Of these
Wall Street tycoons that have spent more than three hundred
thousand dollars a year on the knicks for years and
they don't. They don't get that stuff. Let's go to
the phones. Hal Pal is in h town. Hello, hal
