You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
Hello and welcome. It's our dub Fall hour four, Ready
to go and the big stories we head into NFL
game week out of Kansas City. What did you think
of the Chiefs reported offer to disgruntled defensive star Chris

(00:50):
Jones as they are just days away from kicking off
against the Lions. Did the Patriots do Bailey Zappy dirty
by waving him without a heads up prior to that
move being made the quarterback? And how do you process
Bill Parcells giving out millions of dollars to former players.

(01:13):
We'll talk about that and a whole lot more. It's
all coming your way, including a malar militia feud battle Royale,
all coming your way right now in our number four
here it is enjoy have a great Labor day today.
The clock is a ticket.

Speaker 3 (01:32):
Well, come in the beginning of another hour of the
Ben Mather Show, as we are in the air everywhere,
side by side, doing it live on a Labor day,
as we harp on the same string coast, the coast, border,
the border and beyond on the vast and fundorously powerful

(01:58):
microphones of FSRM munangning live from the rock aka the
rock bottom of the broadcast schedule on a holiday.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
We are broadcasting live from the tyraq dot com studios.
Tyraq dot com will help you get there an unmatched election, fast,
free shipping, free road hazard protection and over ten thousand
recommending installers. Tyre raq dot com the way tire buying,
shoe me in our lead this hour coming from Canzacity,

(02:35):
the rainy super Bowl champion Canzacity Chiefs he sees him
begins in four days against the Lions and a made
for TV matchup, But star defensive tackle Chris Jones has
still not reported to the team. He's trying to get paid,

(02:55):
aren't we all trying to get paid? And amid the
current standoff, battle lines have been drawn here, Jones put
out a cryptic message over the weekend saying, quote, I
am more motivated than ever. Now this comes amid eleventh
hour contract negotiations. If you've not heard the latest on this,

(03:22):
and maybe you were actually living your life over the
weekend and you didn't pay attention, I don't blame you.
We are told the Chiefs are offering to replace the
almost twenty million dollars in salary that Chris Jones is
going to make this season with a brand new contract
worth up to seventy four million dollars to be a

(03:44):
key cog in the machine in Kansas City, with seventy
million guaranteed for injury, a lower amount fully guaranteed. That
despite that offer, the Chiefs are still expecting Jones to
be persona non grata, that he will not arrive in

(04:04):
Kansas City for Thursday night's game and will not be
there the first at least part of the regular season.
So let us discuss the question, what did you think
of the Chiefs reported offer to Chris Jones. So I've
got deputies Indiana Jones and benefactor, and we will combine

(04:26):
all of these things together and we are going to
make chocolate chip cookies. We're going to bake up a storm.
We're going to make some chocolate chip cookies. So to
lead off here, the Chiefs are ratcheting up the old
pressure on Chris Jones. I have seen this over the years.
Not my first barbecue, so I've seen this kind of
thing over the years that they're using all of the

(04:46):
dirty tricks that they can't to end the stalemate. Kansas
City is doing the thing you're supposed to do if
you want to put the screw job on the player, right,
if you want to be fair, you don't play this way.
But the way the Chiefs are doing it, I'm gonna
tell exactly what they're doing. They're negotiating in the media.

(05:08):
They are strategically leaking the contract offer made the Chris Jones.
Why would you do that? You're doing it for a
couple of reasons. Image management, It's good public relations because
the common person, the lay person, you and I hear
a contract offer of seventy four million dollars and say, well,

(05:29):
sign the contract. If you don't sign the contract, you're
a dope. Sign the contract, you're a Mama luke. Of course,
the players will beg to differ and they'll say, well,
it's it's not that simple, it's complicated's you know a
lot goes into it about bang boy to Boom, but
it's good public relations for the Chiefs. You make it
appear that Jones is the unreasonable one, good cop bad cup.

(05:53):
You're the good cop, he's the bad cup. But more importantly,
get to the point. Please, here's the point. What you
have done now is you've put Chris Jones on a pedestal.
You have deputized the Chief's kingdom, the fan base, to
pepper him on social media, on radio shows, and on television,

(06:15):
all forms of media. You deputize your fan base to
put pressure on the player and push, in this case, Jones,
to crack under the immense pressure and sign on the
dotted line. Will Chris Jones do it? He's saying that
he's not. Of course, everyone says they're not gonna cave

(06:36):
in until they do a cave in. We'll keep an
eye on it. If he's not signed before that first
game of the season, you take away over another million
dollars in salary from Chris Jones, one point one million
every game that he misses that was coming his way.
That's a whole lot of cash to give up to

(06:56):
make some kind of noble stand. I'm not that no well,
I would not give up that kind of money. Maybe
you are, I'm not. Furthermore, let's go to Foxboro. Do
we have a contract stalemate? There? No, No, we don't,
But we do have a Zappi of a story, Bailey Zappi,
who was completely gobsmack thunderstruck when the Patriots said you're fired.

(07:21):
Ahead of the twenty twenty three season, there was a
legitimate belief that Bailey Zappi was a competitor to Mac
Jones to be the starting quarterback for Bill Belichick's Patriots
this season. That was one of the off season storylines.
I even bought into it. I look like a schmuck.
He ends up getting released. Now reports indicate that Zappi's

(07:42):
camp was blind sighted. They were caught flat footed. We
are told that there was not a single conversation from
the Patriot brass with Bailey Zappi. That report recently came
out regarding the decision, and that contributed to the why factor,
the sham wow factor, if you will. Bailey Zappy is

(08:05):
back with the Patriots. He cleared waivers. He's on the
practice squad. New England claimed Matt carral From from the
Carolina Panthers and he will be the backup for mac
Jones at least at this point, subject to change. With
the Patriots, you never know. So the question on this
one did the Patriots do Bailey Zapy dirty by waving him,

(08:26):
by firing him without a heads up? So I'm gonna
go first, and I am shaking my head. No, I'm
shaking my head. No. Now you know where you stand
in the food chain if you're Bailey Zappy, And it's important, right.
He thought he was on his way up the ladder,

(08:49):
and it turns out the ladder is broke, and it's
a high rise building and you're stuck and you got
to go back down the ladder. But I learned when
I was a child watching The Godfather that it's not personal,
it's strictly business. Bailey Zappy was a developmental player. I
thought it was going in the right direction. He was

(09:11):
a fourth round pick. But the lesson is this, He's
not a franchise building block, and it turns out he
never was. Apparently, in the hierarchy of the NFL, the
social ladder of the NFL, Bailey Zappy simply does not qualify.
And Bill Belichick, while it's perceived that he played Indiana Jones.
Here he got out that kangaroo hide bullwhip like Indy

(09:34):
and whipped Bailey Zappi. In reality, he is just following
the wishes of the Azarre of offense for the Patriots,
Bill O'Brien. Bill O'Brien has all encompassing, all powerful, almighty
ability when it comes to the Patriots' offense. The fact
that all thirty one other teams were not enthusiastic when

(09:57):
it came to Bailey Zappy, They had no interest, is what.
It sucks the air out of the room for his camp. Now,
from what I've heard, the Bailey Zappy people are like,
if you'd only let us know, we could have set
something up that if the Patriots had tipped off Bailey
Zappi's rep and said, hey, we're gonna get rid of
this guy, he could have started to make phone calls
around the NFL, and then other teams could have conceivably

(10:20):
picked him up. Now is it possible. The Patriots are like, well,
we want him back just in case, so we're not
gonna tip anyone off to that. And now he can
come back and we'll get him on the practice squad.
And he couldn't end up playing if Mac Jones gets
hurt and Corral sucks and all that. But welcome back
to a place I call reality Ville. All right, party shot,

(10:42):
we go to the TNA. Not mentioned this guy's name
very often over the years since he stopped being a
key player in the NFL. Bill Parcells. We quote Bill
Parcells all the time. You are what your record says,
you are this, that and the other thing. Blah blah
blah blah blah blah blah blah blah. Bill's living a
great life. He goes the track. He hangs out in
Florida a lot. He's living a life of Riley. In

(11:04):
his twilight years of his life, Parcels has been apparently
handing out financial aid to a bunch of his former players.
This story came across my radar over the weekend in
promoting an upcoming book about the nineteen eighty six New
York Giants. Wow, how does that book get written in

(11:28):
the year twenty twenty three? Haven't they written enough books
about the mid nineteen eighties New York Giants? But I
digress anyway. The guy that wrote that book I named
Gary Myers, longtime New York City scribed Gary Myers revealing
that the Patriots Patriots the Parcels, I should say the
Parcels era of coaching. When he coached the Patriots, he

(11:49):
coached the Jets and the Giants and the Cowboys and
bounced all over the place. But since then, since he
left coaching, Parcels has given out about four million dollars
in loans to around twenty of his former players over
the years. And Gary Myers, who wrote this book, says

(12:10):
that Parcells knows that when a former player comes to him,
it's the last resort. And he quizzed Parcels to say,
you don't expect anybody to pay you back. Why are
you doing that? Parcells, according to the author who's trying
to sell a book, said, these guys have sacrificed so

(12:31):
much for me, their bodies and their commitment, so that's
why he does it. So the question here, how do
you process Bill Parcells giving out almost four million dollars
to former players in his retirement years. So the first
thought is Bill a benefactor. That's the obvious one, right,
build a benefactor running around like Santa Claus. It's a

(12:55):
good mitzvah. Now here's the thing, it's none of my business.
It's none of your business, and I have done many
a rant on these microphones. It bothers me a great deal.
When people do acts of charity to get credit for
the charity. To me, it cheapens the charity. That's how
I was raised. Maybe my parents were wrang my mom
and dad, but that's how they raised me. So you're
supposed to do good things to people, but you don't

(13:17):
do it to get the attention, and you don't promote
it because that's essentially a douchebag move. To my knowledge,
Parcels has been doing this for many years. He has
not promoted it. It's a guy who's writing a book,
Gary Myers, trying to sell the book, who's looking to
monetize on this. But it's not like Parcels is going
around bragging that he's better than Bank of America and

(13:39):
that if you need a loan, go to him because
you don't even have to pay it back. And he
didn't brag about that doing nice things, which tells me
that Parcells did not do these kind of things because
he was looking to get accolades and flowers for doing
those things. But now here's the guy who's again trying
to make some money's books to sell. He's got ulterior motives.

(14:02):
So it's like, hey, that's a good story, so let's
go it. But Bill Parcells is eighty two years old,
all right, and he's worth if you believe the Internet,
he's worth twenty five million. I don't know that I
believe the internet because the Internet says I'm worth a lot.
I'm not. But Parcells is eighty two. He says that
he's put away enough money. He's he's got enough to
live very comfortably for the rest of his life. He's

(14:23):
given a bunch of money to his kids so they're
taken care of. And then what he has left over,
he's just handing out to you know, what's left of
his nest egg. He's handing out to the players. I
gotta tell you, though, if I was one of Parcells's kids,
I'd be a little annoyed.

Speaker 4 (14:37):
I would.

Speaker 1 (14:38):
I'd be a little annoyed to say, that's extra money.
That's my extra money, coach, What are you doing, Parcels?
That's my extra money, that's my extra house. All right.

Fox Sports Radio hoodie?

Speaker 7 (17:26):
Is he? I don't.

Speaker 4 (17:27):
I don't have a Fox Sports Radio. Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (17:30):
I did not know that item existed im and I
do not have a Fox Interesting.

Speaker 9 (17:34):
So there's a story behind this hoodie.

Speaker 8 (17:36):
Actually, So this is this is what they call here
in the studio, the Rob Parker specialist.

Speaker 4 (17:41):
Oh okay, we understand, all right.

Speaker 9 (17:45):
Oh yeah, definitely.

Speaker 8 (17:46):
I was lucky enough to have Rob come up to
me creepily and be like, hey, come come to my
car with me real quick. And I'm like all right,
I'm running out to the garage and he's like all right, cheers,
and then out of his back he brings out two
hoodies and there's one camera wind brain and then this
hoodie right here, and I'm like, all right, I gotta
go the simple gray one.

Speaker 9 (18:03):
It's a gray hoodie for anyhow, doesn't it.

Speaker 7 (18:05):
Well.

Speaker 4 (18:05):
I have not worked with Rob, so I guess I
can understand why I don't have one. However, Ben has
worked with Rob recently did a famous radio show with Rob.
Did he take you out to his car and open up.

Speaker 1 (18:19):
His nuice trunk? No, he had to run out of
the studio he did the Coward Show. He had to
leave right away because he had to go do a
record his podcast. So he's like, I got it out
of here. I gotta get over the four oh five.
I gotta I got the traffic. I gotta deal with that.
So no, I did not. But I do have a
hat with I think it's a hat. I have a
Rob Parker special kind of hat with the the Fox

(18:41):
Sports Radio thing. But but that was a couple of
years back. But yeah, Rob, so he'll hook you up.
He knows people. So I'm glad you brought that. So
let's get to that right now. And we've been here
a long time. We've seen a lot of crazy things
at Fox Sports Radio. One of those crazy things happened
over the weekend here the Fox Sports Radio Alumni Association,
those that have passed through the hallways of Fox Sports Radio.
A former colleague of ours, Eddie, now owns the Los

(19:03):
Angeles Lakers. I saw this, Yes, our friend Jay Moore.
Jay hosted an afternoon show here at Fox Sports Radio.
The comedian probably yeah more known for comedy, but he
got married over in Malibu over the weekend.

Speaker 4 (19:17):
He was married Ben Well.

Speaker 1 (19:18):
He married the owner of the Lakers, Teenie Bussy. So
congratulations to Jay and Jay. Very nice guy. Knew Jay
a little bit when he worked here, and of course
he was kind of a work friend Eddie. Since he left,
I have had no contact with Jay.

Speaker 4 (19:35):
Yeah, but we did get along. You do you want
to know my Jaymore story?

Speaker 7 (19:41):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (19:41):
Sure, what's your j Moore story?

Speaker 4 (19:43):
Yeah? So I met j Moore and he seemed like
a nice enough guy, and you know, and then you know,
months went by and I met him again and he
did not remember that he had met me, and so
he went through the whole spiel like he had never
met me before. And knowing that he's a comedian, I
figured he would appreciate that. I said, you know, Jay,
we actually met a couple of months ago, and he's like, oh,

(20:05):
you know, He's like I do that to everyone. I
just act like I've never met them before, just in
case it was it was the first time I've met
them before. So it's not unusual that I would do that.
It didn't make me feel any better, but I was like,
all right, fine, that's fine.

Speaker 7 (20:17):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (20:18):
Now, there were rumors Eddie when he worked as our
afternoon guy, that he was starting to date Jeanie Buss,
but that was like, hush, hush. Apparently those rumors were accurate.

Speaker 4 (20:28):
Clearly.

Speaker 1 (20:29):
Yeah, so this has to rank in your top five.
This is still a while it's impressive that Jay Moore,
guy we knew a little bit back in the day,
is now married to the woman that owns the Lakers,
it's also not quite as impressive as the fact that
both me and Eddie were were I don't know, friends,
but we knew casually a woman who is now Are

(20:50):
they married? Her and Jeff Bezos, the guy that owned Amazon.
I don't know Laurence Sam.

Speaker 4 (20:55):
I believe they are.

Speaker 1 (20:58):
Are they officially a married?

Speaker 4 (21:00):
Check that out all right?

Speaker 1 (21:01):
Anyway, She Lauren Sanchez, was a sportscaster in Los Angeles
and I I had, you know, I knew her a
little bit. We weren't buddies or anything like that, but
she was at games all the time when I was
doing some stringing back in the day, and she was
the sideline reporter interviewing Shaq and Kobe in that era
of Laker basketball.

Speaker 4 (21:22):
And so yeah, I worked with her over at Fox
Sports TV back for Fox Sports Net back in the year.

Speaker 1 (21:27):
Was a legendary anchor.

Speaker 4 (21:29):
Yes, she was. Apparently they're engaged. They have not officially
tied the knot yet. Now.

Speaker 1 (21:35):
You think Lauren will invite us to the wedding, you know,
I don't think she will. Probably No, I don't think.

Speaker 4 (21:40):
I think there's a better chance she Moore invites us
to the wedding.

Speaker 1 (21:42):
Frankly, well, they already he already got married, tho. I
don't think it's gonna be able to advise. He got
to Malibu over the weekend. It was small, intimate ceremony.

Speaker 4 (21:50):
You just mentioned that, Yeah, in Malibu.

Speaker 1 (21:52):
Yeah, but twenty close friends. What kind of prenup you
think there Isn't that? I'm curious you think there's a
big prenup in that.

Speaker 4 (21:59):
I would not be surprised if there is.

Speaker 1 (22:01):
You think Jay's gonna wake up and be like, we
gotta get rid of Lebron.

Speaker 4 (22:07):
I don't think so.

Speaker 1 (22:11):
That is great. Well, good for him. I hope they
leave you, you know, enjoy your shoulders coming, let's go do.
It's gonna Dick from day. And it's a holiday, you know, Dick.

Speaker 4 (22:21):
Coming out.

Speaker 1 (22:21):
All that's right, the Battle of Ohio, all, the Battle
of Ohio.

Speaker 10 (22:26):
Hello, Dixter, Good, good morning, Happy Labor Day. I always
make it every year to call on you know on Labor.

Speaker 1 (22:35):
Day, right, Yes, you do. You every holiday you call
up and you of course don't have to labor anymore
because you're retired. But you you're more active now in
retirement than when than you were when you were working.

Speaker 10 (22:46):
Yeah. Yeah, it's been kind of neat the I've been
playing a lot of jobs with the drummers and then
the band. We don't have band today because you know,
it's uh Labor Day. But I want to say one thing.
The Reds sort of the second half sort of fell
a little bit, but I understand they might get the

(23:09):
wild card.

Speaker 1 (23:12):
Yeah, and now, have you been paying attention here? You're
more of a Cleveland fan than a Reds fan. We've
been through this before, right, you talked about this before,
But you are willing to jump on a Cincinnati bandwagon
if it does evolve postseason play? That accurate? Yeah, yeah,
it is accurate. I got you. Yeah, so yeah, the
Reds are I mean, well, you got about twenty five
games to go, Dick, that's it in the baseball season,

(23:34):
and the postseason will be here. So less than a
month ago in the regular season for most teams, and
the Cincinnati Reds right now are in a tie and
it's got it's all bundle up. You got the Marlins, Giants, Diamondbacks,
and Reds who are all they all the same winning
percentage And there's only one slot available for those teams,

(23:57):
only one one.

Speaker 10 (23:58):
Yeah, yeah, and you know, it's kind of nice to see.
I'm kind of uh, I'm kind of happy. I'm just hoping,
you know, Burrel's been hurt. But they open, they open
with the Browns Sunday, they open with the Browns.

Speaker 1 (24:13):
Yeah, yeah, who you want to make that pick? Now?
You want to wait till later in the week to
make your big prediction.

Speaker 10 (24:18):
I actually think you know who I think is going
to win that game?

Speaker 1 (24:21):
The Browns. You're picking the Browns, you're picking. I knew
you were going to pick the Browns. I knew it
that Dixter goes with the Browns. Twenty seven, twenty fourth
Cleveland upset Cincinnati, a small road favorite you're not a gambler,
but Cincinnati a small road favorite. And Dick and Dayton
Benny versus the Penny this weekend, it's now Dick and Dayton.

(24:42):
I know you love radio more than TV, and I
do too. I love radio more than TV because TV
there's a lot more people involved in the TV show.
But I'll be doing TV this weekend.

Speaker 7 (24:49):
Dick.

Speaker 10 (24:49):
Oh oh, that's that's really nice. You know, it's kind
of neat, you know. And Naeddy, sometime I want you
to come hear me play some music when you get
some time.

Speaker 1 (25:01):
I would love to do that. No, I've done the
Minnesota meet and greet. Now I gotta get to Cincinnati.
That's next up. Don't tell my wife. I don't know
if she wants that.

Speaker 7 (25:09):
Now.

Speaker 1 (25:10):
If I do go to Cincinnati, will you make the
trip down from Dayton? Will you be able to make
the trip if I give you some advanced notice? Yeah, okay,
all right, make maybe Eddie you can join me. We
can hang out, eat some Skyline chili. We can stay
at Andy Furman's place, our buddy that lives in that area.

Speaker 4 (25:25):
Right, we don't need to do that, That's all right.

Speaker 10 (25:27):
We can see how Andy?

Speaker 7 (25:30):
Yeah, you know Andy, Yeah, I talked.

Speaker 10 (25:32):
To him a long time ago. He was you know,
he always uh, we always talked about the Piggles and
the Reds. But yeah, yeah, yeah, all.

Speaker 1 (25:43):
Right, well, very good. Well Dick, thank you, we'll talk
to you later in the week. Thank you, bye bye.
All right, there he goes Dick and dates. Oh it's
just famous sign off. We gave the FSR Alumni Association news.
Now we're gonna play Star or No Star, a fun game.
But right now, let's get you cut up on everything
going on in the overnight on Labor Day games of note, Garcie,

(26:05):
Dick and dayton By. They could not have been less
impressed with the news.

Speaker 9 (26:10):
Oh that's nice.

Speaker 1 (26:12):
Yeah, that's the beauty of that guy. I love him.
I love him.

Speaker 4 (26:17):
Not going to be tuning in for that show, No,
I'm not going to watching.

Speaker 1 (26:20):
If it was on radio, he would listen, but not
on maybe and I don't blame him.

Speaker 4 (26:23):
Yeah, let's start off with some college football. We had
the only battle of ranked teams in Week one. Number
eight Florida State taken on number five LSU and the
Seminoles pull away in the second half.

Speaker 6 (26:36):
Second attempt for the forty four snap back play action
Travis Man Open It's pound course.

Speaker 1 (26:40):
Sideline twenty fifteen, ten five get in the jam poll
with the lights up, brightest touchdown Florida State touchdown.

Speaker 4 (26:53):
Now that was our progressive play of the day. It
says on the cut seat that that was Gene Deckerhoff
from lear Field Radio. I do not believe that that
was Geene Dekker, but Jane Deckerhoff talk like Basil Seminoles.
I got a touchdown.

Speaker 1 (27:06):
I'm pretty sure that he retired.

Speaker 4 (27:09):
Yeah, I'm pretty sure that is That is not the
great Gene Deckerhoff whose life was saved that Sofi stay.

Speaker 1 (27:14):
Yeah, Ben Aller, you remember that.

Speaker 4 (27:16):
I could never forget that was a great story.

Speaker 1 (27:18):
Yeah, Geene Deckerhoff was lost the Buccaneers were in LA.
He could not find his way to the press box,
very confusing at Sofi Stadium, and I recognized his voice
that that was the great voice.

Speaker 4 (27:29):
I don't know where I'm at. I'm lost here in
the stadiums crazy.

Speaker 1 (27:32):
Of Geene decker Hoff, and I was able to direct
him to the right location. Of course, we have a
friend that works on the Bucks radio broadcast that used
to work at Fox Sports Radio back in the day.
So we have a mutual friend anyway. All right, So
that's yeah, that was not him.

Speaker 4 (27:45):
The great TJ. Reeves of the That was our progressive
player of the day. Progressive making things even easier to
help you bundle your home of Cartrice together. She can
save on both ler more progressive dot comer call eight
hundred progressed. I'm sure, Jeene Decker, I'm very excited that
his seminoles beat Florida State forty five to twenty four.

Speaker 1 (28:00):
They were down, like, maybe I should come back now,
maybe I could do a few more games.

Speaker 4 (28:05):
If they make the national title game, bring him in
for a quarter? What the hell?

Speaker 10 (28:08):
Right?

Speaker 1 (28:09):
Uh so?

Speaker 4 (28:10):
Thirty two seven Florida State outscoring LSU in the second
half and route that forty five to twenty four win.
Quarterback Jordan Travis. You heard some of his work. They're
five touchdowns in the victory, four through the air, one
on the ground. Eighteen th rank Oregon State beat San
Jose State forty two to seventeen. Beavers quarterback DJ five touchdowns,
three passing.

Speaker 1 (28:28):
And you're saying his name just because you learn how
to pronounce his name Eddie, and you're.

Speaker 4 (28:32):
Well, I will say I was watching this game at
the Garcia and Djela and.

Speaker 1 (28:40):
Is that right, Ula ungle Lay, Yeah, you're close.

Speaker 9 (28:43):
Anyway, the play I saw him play was terrible.

Speaker 4 (28:46):
Yeah, the play by play guy there for I think
it was, uh, I can't mercy bs maybe anyway, Okay,
he just called him Dju. Oh yeah, Dju.

Speaker 1 (28:55):
That's good. So he didn't want to butcher the guy's name, and.

Speaker 4 (28:58):
So the ball butcher.

Speaker 1 (29:00):
The guys get names, but Giannisimbo for the first like
four years with Crew was just the Greek free yeah,
and then people were just Giannis oh yaha. But people
learn how to pronounce his name and now they yea.

Speaker 4 (29:11):
Also in college football, we had Rutgers over Northwestern twenty
four to seven, Big ten opener, big season opener for
both schools. There some baseball games of note. We had
the Giants being shut up on the Patres four to nothing.
Sar Franzisco dropped three or four against San Diego. Domind
Backs were defeated by the Orioles eight to five. Baltimore
still leading the AL East by two and a half
games on Tampa Bay. The Rays did keep pace with
US six to two. Went over the Guardians. Reds were

(29:33):
clawberd by the Cubs fifteen to seven. Chicago seven runs,
the eighth inning e and a half, three hits, four
rbi as they moved three and a half back in Milwaukee,
and the Annal Central Brewers lost to the Phillies four
to two. The Marlins wrap up a four game series
sweep of the Nationals with the six to four wins,
so it is now a four way tie for the
final playoff spot in the Nation League between Miami, San Francisco, Arizona.

Speaker 1 (29:54):
Back on this game, now you mentioned the Marlin sweep
the Nationals. They are now twenty six and six the
past two years against the Natitudes. Wow from DC. That
is roughly twenty percent of the Marlins wins over the
last two years have come against their division rival in
the National League's.

Speaker 4 (30:11):
Your head in Shaane, Washington.

Speaker 1 (30:13):
That's not bad job by you.

Speaker 4 (30:15):
Mariners lose to the Mets sixty three. Pete Alonzo with
a couple of homers, giving him forty on the year.
He's also got one hundred ribbies on the season as well.
Astros were swept by the Yankees, losing six to one
on Sunday, and the Rangers walk off with a sixty
five to one over the Twins thanks to an Odellas
Garcia solo homer the ninth, so Texas is now titles
Houston both one game back of Seattle in that AL

(30:35):
West race. He had the Blue Jays over the Rockies
seven to five Toronto game in that back of both
Houston and Texas for that last wildcard spot in the AL.
And the Dodgers avoid being swept in a four game
series at home. They beat the Braves three to one.
Basketball US men's team losing to Lithuania one ten one
oh four at the FEEBA World Cup. They'll play Italy
next to they do despite that loss, advance to the

(30:58):
quarterfinals and.

Speaker 1 (30:58):
Then a single eliminade for Team US.

Speaker 4 (31:01):
Yes, no more losses for them after that loss to
Lithuania there. And in soccer, Lino Messi to assist Inter
Miami beats the MLS defending champs LAFC three to one,
Miami riding in an eleven game on beat streak since
Messi joined the squad pretty good ten oh to one
since since he came on board there, so making a
bit of a difference there for that that.

Speaker 1 (31:22):
Miami and we will have more on that game, Eddie,
what I'll explain.

Speaker 4 (31:27):
We will.

Speaker 1 (31:27):
We will have more coming up.

Speaker 4 (31:29):
I did not expect that.

Speaker 1 (31:31):
You did not expect me le Lionel messi category.

Speaker 4 (31:35):
I thought that was the only mention of that we
would have in the show.

Speaker 1 (31:38):
No, no, no, we'll do it. Let's well, let's go
back to the calls, because I want to get this
guy on from Brooklyn. You talk about a guy who
spent so many years working in those factories in Brooklyn,
and here he is calling our show. He's really a
sports media connoisseur. Marcel in Brooklyn. Hello Marcel.
