Speaker 2 (04:14):
Our lead is not from the NBA.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
We had a historical night though at the Mecca in Manhattan,
as the celebrities were out, many of them getting older,
not a lot of younger celebrities, but they were out
enjoying themselves a night in the garden, and the skunk
at the garden party turned out to be The Spurs
had a twenty nine point lead, the greatest choke job
in the history of that sport in the NBA Finals.

(04:36):
Congratulations to Wemby. That is a legacy game. That stank
is going to be on you for some time. Wenby,
you might want to go back to the park and
draw some more statues.

Speaker 2 (04:46):
That was bad.

Speaker 1 (04:47):
So the Knicks are now a win away and it
appears that Saturday they have three chances to win one game.
Of course, it's still possible for them to blow this series.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
It's not over.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
Although the way the Spurs looked body language wise, it
pretty much over see if they can rally back in
San Antonio that next game on Saturday.

Speaker 2 (05:06):
We will not be on Saturday night, so that means
we will.

Speaker 1 (05:09):
Be free of having to break down that game until Sunday,
if it's even worthy of our time.

Speaker 2 (05:14):
Sunday to Monday are.

Speaker 1 (05:15):
Lead this hour, though, from Philadelphia we go where the
Eagles eat hey gee l eat, or as the mayor
spelled it, something different. Jalen Hurts. Jalen Hurts addressing the
snuffle love igus in the room, what is that you ask?

Speaker 2 (05:32):
His first comments since A. J.

Speaker 1 (05:34):
Brown was decommissioned by the Eagles and repackaged to the Patriots.
His response to recent comments made by AJ Brown about
the relationship cooling off the Arctic.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
So if you didn't see this, perhaps not.

Speaker 1 (05:51):
AJ had said that he and Hurts simply gruel part
over time. It's called AJ Brown, as sometimes happens in life,
he said, and he noted they were closer when he
first joined the Eagles. Now Hurts was asked about that,
he said, quote, I'm not in the place to challenge

(06:11):
anyone's perspective on anything.

Speaker 2 (06:13):
He said.

Speaker 1 (06:14):
Now Hurts went on to acknowledge that from Brown's viewpoint,
they had drifted apart. You think Hurts was not invited
to the wedding of aj Brown even though he's supposedly
the godfather of his kid, one of his kids. Hurts
he hey apped about having pride in what they achieved together,
the Super Bowl success and said nothing can take that away.

Speaker 2 (06:36):
Well, we'll see about that.

Speaker 1 (06:38):
So he also want to it's time now to focus
on the new version of the Eagles and all that.
So that is a good jumping off point. Let us
discuss the question Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts accepted AJ brown
story on their relationship getting into.

Speaker 2 (06:55):
The cool zone. So what is your instinct here?

Speaker 1 (07:00):
I take I've got Smokey Bear, board game and doctor Vinnie,
and we will combine all of these things together and
we are going to go Wowie Kazawi, Wowie Kazwi, and
then we're gonna have some gabaghul and some babago.

Speaker 2 (07:15):
Now to kick off here.

Speaker 1 (07:17):
Look, Jalen Hurts making a lot of money quarterback for
the Philadelphia Eagles. He's also moonlighting for the US Forest
Service as a wild land firefighter. I've determined that my
gut tells me that he didn't really accept Jalen Hurts
did not accept AJ Brown's version of events. He absorbed
it like a fire blanket. You feel me on that,

(07:40):
Like this is the NFL's version of no, No, I'm fine, really,
it's fine.

Speaker 3 (07:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (07:48):
And if you're in a relationship with a woman and
a woman says everything's fine, the house is on fire,
the house is on fire, it's not. It's not obviously,
So this AJ Brown story is an active wildfire and
Jalen Hurts and his crew just established control lines trying
to prevent.

Speaker 2 (08:07):
The further spread of the fire.

Speaker 1 (08:09):
And so Jalen's out there doing this PSA like he's
Smoky Bear saying only you can prevent AJ brown questions
by not answering them.

Speaker 2 (08:19):
So this is a.

Speaker 1 (08:19):
Strict crisis containment. This is not some kind of confession
like AJ Brown was right, He's not adding oxygen to
the blaze that's already jumped the ridge and is heading
up I ninety five to AJ Brown's locker with the Patriots.
Jalen was not was not answering a question. He was

(08:40):
digging a containment trench around said question. So think of
it like he parachuted in from a helicopter and he
came down there and actually I guess from a plane
and then stomped out the flames and got out just
before the wind shifted, just in the nick of time.

(09:01):
So it's pr suppression at its finess. You be asked
any question, you don't have to answer the question.

Speaker 2 (09:09):
You can just move on.

Speaker 1 (09:10):
Now furthermore to Cleveland, and something happened for the first
time in two years. And it was not somebody yodling
at Browns camp. No quarterback Deshaun Watson. Yep, that Deshaun Watson,
the connoisseur of the massage.

Speaker 2 (09:26):
They're not a massagery Deshaun Watson.

Speaker 4 (09:29):
Now.

Speaker 2 (09:29):
He spoke to reporters after Mini camp this.

Speaker 1 (09:31):
Week, saying, quote, it's very important to get an opportunity
to start. Of course, everyone says that he missed all
of last season as his achilles has both now two
times pop pop goes the achilles.

Speaker 2 (09:49):
There you go.

Speaker 1 (09:50):
He described himself as fully healthy, Watson said, noting that
he hadn't felt one hundred percent since a shoulder injury
in twenty twenty three, and he's grown patient. Doctors would argue,
if you've popped your achilles twice, you will never be
one hundred percent again.

Speaker 2 (10:07):
Now, Watson the key part of this, the money part
of the quote.

Speaker 1 (10:10):
He was asked he hadn't spoken to the media in
a couple of years, so he was asked about owner
Jimmy Haslam, who famously said last season that Deshaun Watson's
trade from the Texans was a big saw wing an
a miss.

Speaker 2 (10:25):
Uh saw wing anemiss did not make contact.

Speaker 1 (10:29):
Now, Watson, when asked about that, said, of the we
have his art, Well we have it. So let's hear
what Watson had to say about the relationship again. The
owner of the Brown said big swing and a miss.
Here is what Watson said.

Speaker 5 (10:42):
I mean, the relationship is great. I mean, indeed, Jimmy,
they're at my wedding. We talk all the time. He
calls me whenever you know, it happens and things like that.
You know, one of my favorite baseball players that I've
been watching is Bryce Harper. Sometimes he swings, but he
stands back up and he gets an opportunity. It's all run,
so you never know what the opportunity might show up.

(11:03):
And that's what I have right now.

Speaker 3 (11:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (11:05):
I like the fact at the beginning, can we play
this by again? At the beginning, you could hear the
bus literally running over Deshaun Watson as he was talking.

Speaker 2 (11:12):
You could hear relationship is great, man, there is watch
after shot.

Speaker 5 (11:16):
Jimmy, you're at my wedding?

Speaker 2 (11:18):
We never oh right, all right, all right?

Speaker 1 (11:23):
And he used the Bryce Harper analogy. Wonderful, al right,
question where are you at? Where are you at? On
Deshaun Watson ending his media boycott to soft.

Speaker 2 (11:34):
Pedal the comments made by the Browns owner.

Speaker 1 (11:38):
So here's another example of some manipulation going on. This
was not so much a news conference. It was a
cleanup on Ile two.

Speaker 2 (11:48):
Hundred and thirty million. It was Isle two hundred thirty million.
There's a cleanup.

Speaker 1 (11:51):
We need a mop and a bucket on Ile two
hundred thirty million. Watson playing a board game. What board
game is he playing? That would be called trivial pursuit
as he's trying to trivialize, trivialize being called a saw
wing and amiss by the owner of the Browns. And
he's like, oh, the relationship with owner Jimmy Haslum is strong.

Speaker 2 (12:12):
Of course it is.

Speaker 1 (12:13):
Watson has cashed every one of those checks, direct deposit,
spend the money, every single check, chuck ching Chuck Chang
Chi Ching. You look at Watson now, at this point
in his career, He's in the final year of a
fully guaranteed, astronomical contract that the Browns knew what they

(12:34):
were getting into, and they're so obtuse over there, They're
so clueless they signed up anyway. Since joining the Browns
back in twenty twenty two via a massive trade that
cost three first round picks and all you people love
your draft capital, Shaun Watson has played nineteen more games
than you have, and he's missed time because of suspension

(12:56):
for being the creepy quarterback and injuries, and under any
reasonable measurement, any reasonable measurement, Deshaun Watson has not only
been a quarterback, he's been absolute rubbish rubbish. This is
the Mona Lisa of bad investments, is what it is.
And now you look at it, and Watson is trapped

(13:19):
in this alleged quarterback competition with second year player Shadur Sanders,
who also is a If he was a wrestler, his
name would be el Stinko the Wrestler. And Cleveland's quarterback
room is a coin flip where both sides are bent,
all right, and you've got decaying seaweed on one side

(13:39):
and sweaty jym clothes on the other.

Speaker 2 (13:42):
Well, that's quite the competition, all right.

Speaker 1 (13:44):
Last thing, we go to Boston now talks in baseball
where Red Sox ace Garrett Crochet, who hasn't pitched in
a big league game since back in April April twenty fifth,
and he was placed on the Angel List my birthday
April twenty ninth.

Speaker 2 (14:01):
Happy birthday to me on April twenty nine, and with.

Speaker 1 (14:04):
What was described at the time as a very low
grade left lat string.

Speaker 2 (14:10):
Initially it was like a shoulder inflammation and all that. Well,
now we can update the story.

Speaker 1 (14:16):
And if you've not been following along, this is the
mother of all quotes. Crochet told The Globe that the
injury is quote a lot worse than we thought. He
last threw a simulated game on May twenty sixth, that's
over two weeks ago, and he felt a little bit.

Speaker 2 (14:35):
Of a squeeze, a little tightness there.

Speaker 1 (14:37):
When asked about a timeline for even playing catch again,
Garrett Crochet said, quote, I have no idea. All right,
Chad Tracy. I was a fan of his dad, Jim Tracy.
Chad Tracy, the interim Red Sox manager said further testing
is scheduled later this week. So they're continuing to run

(14:59):
him through the many, many medical people that are getting
paid and laughing all the way to the bank. Okay,
So the question on this one, You've got Red Sox
ace Garrett Crochet, who said his back injury is quote
a lot worse than originally thought. So how are you
interpreting these comments and the timing of these comments. So

(15:22):
Crochet just walked up to the podium during this case
to the Beat writer and he dropped a full blown indictment,
a referendum on the Red Sox as they are completely
incinerated on a nightly basis here or a day basis.

Speaker 2 (15:40):
Got lost again yesterday and after the team.

Speaker 1 (15:45):
I always laugh at the initial reports in New York
Aaron Judge when he initially was out of the Anche lineup.
They said he'll be out a couple of days and
he'll be back. It's just precautionary, and then he's gonna
be out to August. So I remember I was on
the night Garrett Crochet got heart I believe it was against
the Minnesota Twins, got absolutely shelled by the Twins and

(16:05):
we were on and I said, well that they're saying
it's just a kind of a minor thing. Want to
bet on that? Yeah, good luck. The team called it
a low grade injury they expected. When Crochet went out,
they said, I'll be back soon. It's quick return. And
now Crochet is basically pointing the finger at the medical
staff for the Red Sox and said them them over there, them.

(16:29):
He pushed the training staff onto the live hand grenade.

Speaker 2 (16:33):
There you go, enjoy that live hand.

Speaker 1 (16:34):
Grenade, using the training staff as a human shield, by
saying his injury is far worse than originally thought.

Speaker 2 (16:41):
So this is a dog pile, is what this is.

Speaker 1 (16:44):
He's basically hinted that the person in charge of the
Red Sox training department is like doctor Vinnie Boombats at
this point, and they could not diagnose a sunburn. And now,
but wait, there's more. The one hundred and seventy million
dollar ACE is now on the sixty day Nautilus. The

(17:06):
used to be the DL, now it's the IL and
then that'll be offensive and they'll change it again. There's
no end date. This is open ended. He's on the
Siberian Express. There's no end date. And again that's not
low grade. That is a semester abroad. Sixty days is
a semester abroad. And after signing a six year deal,
he started this season for the for the Socks three

(17:30):
and three with an urn run average of over six
And again, what do I know? I just see the
overnight show. That doesn't seem very good. So the Red Sox, now,
they're not cursed. They're in last place. They're not cursed.
They're just bad. They're bad at diagnosing injuries. They appear
to be bad at developing minor league blue chip players.
They're bad at deploying the offense and delivering wins. Other

(17:55):
than that, everything's fine. Every they're howling success as they
are wandering through a corn maze, the Boston Red Sox
holding a lit match, wondering why everything smells like popcorn?

Speaker 2 (18:06):
Where's the butter?

Speaker 3 (18:07):
Where's the butter?

Speaker 1 (18:08):
It is the Ben Mahlor Show. And we were a
little behind on the World Cup. Pick them, a little.

Speaker 2 (18:16):
Bit behind in the World Cup, pick them.

Speaker 1 (18:18):
So we we're gonna have to go rapid fire if
you would like to be representing the people.

Speaker 2 (18:23):
As we've got the hopper. Here we go.

Speaker 6 (18:27):
There.

Speaker 2 (18:27):
It is the hopper, hop on, hop off the hopper.

Speaker 1 (18:31):
We do have a reper I'm told we do have
a representative for the World Cup. Pick them, so we're
gonna run through that when I think we have four rounds.
Our math was a little off on this. I did
not use Malard math. I used back of the napkin math,
and that's why we're a little off. So we'll get
to the World Cup. Pick them as it is beginning.
Do you have the soccer fever? Do you need some

(18:53):
medicine because you got the soccer fever.

Speaker 2 (18:55):
Also, in addition to that, we have there's a couple
of goofy World Cup stores. I don't know, I have
time to get to them, but including.

Speaker 1 (19:03):
One place that people could be fined for putting a
flag up from the World Cup. That seems kind of odd. Anyway,
we went to all that and we will do it.

Speaker 2 (19:15):
Next.

Speaker 2 (21:04):
We'll take some calls.

Speaker 1 (21:05):
We we're way behind on the World Cup. We're way
behind on the World Cup.

Speaker 2 (21:10):
Pick them.

Speaker 1 (21:10):
I thought we were doing pretty well and then somehow,
I guess we zigged when we were supposed to zag.
And because we zigged when we said, if you knew
the show, this hour, all night, we've been I don't
know if you can hear this, but the hopper's.

Speaker 2 (21:25):
Back to hear that. That's the hopper. Hippity hop, hippity hop,
that's the hopper.

Speaker 1 (21:31):
And so we have a lot of a lot of
balls in the hopper, a lot of balls in the hopper,
and so we're gonna get back to the World Cup.
Pick them, completely fair, there's no funny business going on.
We've assigned, in alphabetical order, a number to every team,
and then we're.

Speaker 2 (21:49):
Just wait, wait, wait, we're spinning the hopper.

Speaker 3 (21:53):
Half of the half of the team.

Speaker 2 (21:54):
So far. Yeah, I believe despite despite our efforts here.

Speaker 3 (22:00):
I guess the metlist math was very off.

Speaker 2 (22:03):
Yeah, well we can make up for that.

Speaker 3 (22:04):
Real quick, right, yeah, rapid fire.

Speaker 2 (22:07):
Rapid fire, as you know, as long as the hopper
collapse or cooperates not collapses. All right, Who's who's picking?

Speaker 3 (22:15):
For the people?

Speaker 1 (22:15):
You have a call her every hour? Last hour we
had Mike the Leprechaun.

Speaker 2 (22:20):
And before we got in the Commonwealth, Scott in the
Commonwealth is going to pick? All right? Is this who
I think it is? Hello? Scott?

Speaker 8 (22:28):
Hey, so I know it's going faster. Hi to Steve
the educator. He's listening right now. I'm just saying I
to them.

Speaker 1 (22:35):
Okay, all right, well we can't be doing shout out Scott?

Speaker 2 (22:39):
What's going on with you?

Speaker 8 (22:40):
I know, I know you never like to say hi
to your callers.

Speaker 1 (22:44):
I never do thinking.

Speaker 8 (22:46):
I know, No, Rain not nice to people.

Speaker 1 (22:49):
I get it quickly.

Speaker 2 (22:51):
The Rain is upset. She really wants to get through this. Okay.
And let me point out now, as you know the rainer,
what is the most important part. I learned this from
Jo Sterling.

Speaker 1 (23:00):
You gotta sell the soap, or in this case, you
got to sell the gas, I think is the point
of all that. And this portion made possible in part

Speaker 1 (23:34):
The opper goes and hopper stops number thirteen, Coop number thirteen.

Speaker 2 (23:39):
That is my pick? What number? What team? Did I get?
Number thirteen? What country? Coop?

Speaker 3 (23:45):
Check? Chia? Is that is that? It is now check Republic?
But no, and now it's like check concrete.

Speaker 1 (23:54):
I think so yeah, yeah, I've never.

Speaker 4 (23:57):
Heard of that.

Speaker 1 (23:58):
Oh you've never heard of that. Let's see coop you're
up next. Never heard of the number forty seven? Coop
number forty seven in the hopper for you the United States. Yeah,
let's go wrap yourself us say us, say.

Speaker 2 (24:17):
All right, Lorena, you are up next on the hopper.

Speaker 1 (24:20):
The hopper has spit out number thirty one for you, Lorraine,
number thirty one on.

Speaker 2 (24:24):
The World Norway Way.

Speaker 1 (24:26):
That's funny, Oh, nor Way, good looking people in Norvay
Way good healthy food and in Norway.

Speaker 2 (24:31):
And they eat a lot of fish.

Speaker 3 (24:32):
Norway.

Speaker 2 (24:33):
Yeah, good, good people. All right, we're round around. The
