Speaker 1 (00:00):
Boom shaka Laca. It's our number four because the Benny
Man can, the Bennyman can. Now reminder, the Fifth Hour
Podcast is up and running as I shamelessly promote, and
we'll have new episodes in the audio Sweatshop all weekend.
A long new episodes dropping today on this Friday, Saturday

(00:21):
and then again on Sundays, so check it out. But
here an Hour number four. Jerry Jones is satisfied with
the Cowboys end of the Micah Parsons trade, what they
got back from Green Bay and in the draft your
thoughts on that declaration from Cowboy Nation. Also where you're
at on actor Dustin Hoffman's commentary on the Cowboys. He

(00:45):
showed up Dustin Hoffman, guys, almost ninety he showed up
to the Cowboy training camp. We'll talk about what rain
Man had to say. And are you surprised how many
people were fooled by reports the Chicago Bears were going
to change their name to the Indiana Bears or the
Hammon Bears. We'll go there as well. Settle in. Enjoy

(01:07):
our four, don't forget about our five, the Fifth Hour Podcast,
have a wonderful weekend. New audio on that fifth hour
podcast every day. But here's our number four. Bye bye.
Well that is a very jerry thing to say. Well God,

(01:31):
in the beginning of another hour of the Ben Mather Show.
That's right. We are in the air everywhere, taking the
early morning hours head on as we provide a helping
hand or helping gas Baggerie co Stuck Coast Sport of

(01:52):
the Mortar and beyond on the vast and boldly powerful
microphones of FSR, emminating live from the Rock aka the
Rock bottom of the radio broadcast schedule, the dreaded overnight
early morning show Guaranteed Human from the world famous Fox

(02:15):
Sports Radio Studios. That's right, the world famous to is
where Dave the trash Man in Boston, Avelino who's out
there fixing bridges around the Commonwealth, Cape Codpaperboy, Matt Kay
from Worcester. They've all lined up in a row, every
one of them has lined up in a row, and
they said, you don't matter that what we need in

(02:35):
our lives is something that you can only give us.
I said, well what is that and they say, well,
it's express And I said, okay, if Dave the trash
Man wants it, we'll do it. And If you work
in logistics, you know, nothing moves without you. Companies need
skilled people now, and Express Employment Professionals can help you
find contract or full time work that fits at no

(02:56):
cost to you. Visit expresspros dot com to get support
options and get to work. Howbout that all right? So
we had NFL exhibition action last night. If you go
back and hear the Ben Malers Show podcast, you will
hear a gaggle of random takes, a gaggle of random

(03:18):
takes about that. That'll be on the on the pod later.
Fernando Mendozho made his exhibition game debut. You had that,
you had a tie in the Patriot game. That's always
exciting that Niners played the Titans. A bunch of random
matchups there, Lions and Bengals. Me, oh my, so that
that's in a previous hour, But I leave this hour.

(03:38):
Play the hits, ma man, play the winning doubt. Throw
Jerry's name out. We go to Jerry's world, where these
are of the Dallas Cowboys. One of the great hype
men of our time, Jerry Jones, declared this week that
he is satisfied with the Micah Parsons trade. Roughly a
year after roughly a year after Micah Parsons was decommissioned

(04:01):
by the Dallas football team, Jerry Jones said, well, listen,
if you didn't hear it, I believe we have audio.
So let's go to the audio tip. Here's Jerry Jones
commenting on a year later the departure of Micah Parsons.

Speaker 2 (04:16):
Let's listen, it's like going to Las Vegas with some
extra money in your pocket, or going out there with
the babies new pair of shoes and formal the money
in your pocket. You can't be as good as a
crapshooter as you are when you've got the baby's new
pair of shoes throwing out there with it. So in
a way, this look actually created a mental part to

(04:39):
us and to my roll in it, with me to
step out and make the moves and take the if
you will, risks that are involved in it, which they
are to be where we are today with the complete
makeover of the defense.

Speaker 1 (04:54):
Well that was a classic jerryism. I don't really know
what he's getting at there. Well Vegas he mentioned a
babies new pair of shoes and formula money. Oh so,
I guess if you have a kid, you can't be
a reckless degenerate, but if you don't have a kid,
you can be. Is that what he was getting? Yet
he also said later on, I like what the result
of the trade has ended up as I stand here today,

(05:15):
so ergo, I guess you have to make different decisions
when you're risking essential things. And Jerryism not as good
as many of the other jerisms we've had over the years,
like dissecting you know what and all that. So anyway,
that is a good jumping off point. Let us discuss
the question for the esteem panel. Here's the question, Jerry

(05:37):
Jones saying, essentially he's satisfied with the Cowboys and of
the Micah Parsons. Trade your thoughts. So I've got Hollywood Remake,
crash Test dummies, and Spirit Halloween. We'll combine all of
these things together. And I'm contractually obligated by our friend

(06:00):
in Florida, say have the Gabba Ghul. Have the Gabba
Ghul and the babaganooshas we out pope the Pope. All right,
So to kick off here, of course, Jerry Jones is
going to declare that he is thrilled this stopped being
about fruitball. The moment, egos took over, and we know

(06:23):
the backstory. We documented it on the airwaves the bully
pulpit here at Fox Sports Radio. Jerry and Micah Parson's agent.
They got into the feelings, and when you get into
the feelings, it turns ugly. Right, imaginary elbows were tossed out,
and Jerry turned to his favorite nineteen eighties TV show.

(06:44):
He said, you know what, I used to watch the
show back in the day, Who's the Boss? Right? And
showing everyone, every man, woman and child, that he's the boss.
He's the boss became more important than keeping one of
the premiere pass rushers in the NFL. So congratulations, Jerry,
you won the argument. You did lose the player. It's

(07:07):
a classic NFL show game. It goes on in all sports.
In the NFL, you waive these sexy draft picks, these
unknown commodities out in the airs. Oh, we've got these
draft picks. You sell flexibility and that you're the adult
in the room, hoping that nobody notices you just traded

(07:27):
a game breaker for a bag of spare parts. A
mystery bag is what you took. You had something of value,
and you took a mystery bag. Now, every once in
a while in the mystery bag you find something valuable.
Often you don't. The Cowboys starred in this episode. It
was a Hollywood remake of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. They

(07:50):
walked into the slaughterhouse, they went to the butcher shop
in the back of the slaughterhouse, and they handed prime
rib to Green Bay and they came home. The cowboys
very bragging, nocious. They were telling everybody, told their wife.
They told that everyone. So we got three pounds of
ground beef. You just gave up prime rip. I know

(08:13):
we gave up prime but but we got three pounds
one pound of primary for three pounds of ground beef.
Come on now, So again, Jerry won the argument and
apparently that's all that mattered. Now. Furthermore, staying in the
Nard in Oxnard, you've got actor Dustin Hoffman, yes, legend

(08:34):
who somehow showed up. It's very odd. He drove all
the way from place where Beverly Hills, drove out to Oxnard,
which is north of la and showed up at Cowboy
training camp this week. And Dustin Hoffin was asked by
one of the starstruck Cowboy reporters. He was asked like,

(08:58):
what do you think about the twenty two six Cowboys?
And what do you think? Dustin Hoffmins said, what do
you think? He said, do you think that'd be a
little better? Like some of the moves they made look
for George Pickens to have a big year? Did you
saything like that? No? No, no, Dustin Hoffman told the reporter.

(09:18):
When asked about the twenty twenty six Cowboys, he said,
I don't know anything about football. I think they're great.
Clotes quote all right, question where are you at on
actor and legend Dustin Hoffman's commentary on the Dallas Cowboys. Yeah, well, listen,

(09:39):
he absolutely nailed it. He nailed it right. I Mean,
if I ask Lorena, I say, Lareenna, what do you
think about the twenty twenty six Cowboys, She's gonna give
me the same answer. She's just say, you know, I
don't really know much about football. I think they're gonna
be great. I think they're gonna be absolutely freaking great.
I think they'd be wonderful. Right, Yes, that he tremendous

(09:59):
generic brand Cowboy fan. I don't even abut I think
I think they're great. Perfection right. That should be printed
on every Cowboys season ticket, don't know the players, don't
know the depth chart, don't know the coach, don't know
jack squat about football. But look at that sexy logo.

(10:21):
Holy crap, look at that logo on that helmet. Are
you not turned on by that helmet? Look at that helmet?
You're not turned on by that one? Come on, what's
wrong with you? That's all it takes. Jerry Jones can field.
I'm convinced he could put out on the field to
save money. Out of an abundance of catching. You won't
anyone to get hurt. Let's just hire some crash test

(10:43):
dummy robots, and as long as we slap the cowboy
helmet on them, we'll give them jerseys and pants, and
we'll give them pads. Why not these lunatics, We'll say, oh,
this is our year. This team will take a hit.
They've got toughness. They never take themselves out of the

(11:05):
game because they can't get up and walk, because you
know so. Dustin Hoffman should have at least earned his
sideline credential by going full rain Man. Do you imagine
if he had gone full ray Man.

Speaker 3 (11:18):
Thirty years without a Super Bowl? Definitely thirty, Yeah, thirty years.
Jerry owns the team, Definitely, Jerry, you know, start calculating
playoff failures, the whole.

Speaker 1 (11:29):
Thing like he's in a casino counting cards. Instead, Dustin
gave us. Dustin Hoffin gave us the distilled essence of
cowboy fandom, zero information, maximum enthusiasm, hypnotize by the Capitol
L logo. Now, I will tell you that I believe

(11:52):
that Dustin Hoffin gets the old guy hall pass. I
know he's very concerned about what the overnight radio guy
thinks of him. Dude's eighty nine. He's a freaking legend
right in some of the biggest cinema of his time
and back when people actually didn't do all the other
bullokrap at. Somebody, somebody give this man a tutsi role,

(12:14):
if you know what I mean. Point him towards the
golf cart and just let him enjoy the circus that
is Jerry's world. Oh yeah, all right, now, last thing
to the name Game, Name Game we go. Well, one
bleeding heart blogger in Chicago is getting raked over the
coals for a bogus report. Bogus report. Number of people

(12:37):
were hornswaggled by the skulduggery of a report claiming that
the chicagg Bears were rebranding and they were moving to Indiana,
and the Bears were going to be called the either
the Hammond Bears or the Indiana Bears. It was a
Bear jamboree, is what it was. Well, that report, which

(13:02):
sounded bogus. I didn't even talk about it. I usually
talk about stupid stuff like this, and I didn't talk
about it because I thought, that's not real. That's sports talk, Barry,
that's but crack sports. Well, the report has been debunked.
The chairman. If you believe George McCaskey, the blowhard who
run he won the genetic lottery to own the run
the team as the chairman, So George H. McCaskey says,

(13:25):
the franchise will remain the quote Chicago Bears close quote
even if they do end up relocating across state lines
to Hammond, Indiana. He said, quote, we will be the
Chicago Bears, whether we're in Arlington Heights, which is the
other option, or whether it's Hammond meaning a Soldier Field

(13:47):
bye bye. What are they gonna do with Soldier Field?
That's pretty prime real estate there in Chicago? What are
they gonna do? With that, put a Tesla charging station in.
What are they gonna do? I don't know anyway, so
ke making it clear that even though they're planning on
moving to Hammond, that's the primary target. They're not going
to be called the Hammond Bears or the Indiana Bears. Question,

(14:10):
are you surprised? Are you surprised by how many people
were fooled by these reports that the Chicago Bears were
planning on changing their name? Well, no, we used to
only fool people on April Fool's Day. Now every day
is April Fool's Day. Everyth in day is April fools Day.

(14:33):
In the social media age, we all read like six
headline words, skip the story, and we sprint naked through
the town square, streaming about the information, which is often misinformation.
And there was a study done a few years ago
that indicated that people just read the headline and then

(14:55):
send the story to their friends, like through text, and
then people just read it on text and don't click
the story. They said, as I remember hearing about this
years ago, they said, the most important thing when you
write a story on a blog is the headline, because
that's the only thing people will read. They don't read
the actual story. In fact, you could put the headline

(15:16):
on there and have nothing, just a blank so if
anyway clicked on the story, it'd be blank, and people
would still forward the story to their friends. It's wild.
The whole thing is just silliness from the fact that
the Indiana political hacks are from what I read, getting
ready to put on the spirit Halloween hawk Tua knee

(15:39):
pads and spin on that thing for the Chicago Bears.
How about a billion dollars a billion dollars in Indiana
taxpayer cash for a stadium. Those are your tax dollars
at work. There's one thing the future generations in Indiana need,
and that's watching a mediocre Chicago Bears team. That's what

(16:01):
they need. But moving does not mean you change the name.
The Jets and Giants are the New York Jets and Giants,
but they play in New Jersey. The Cowboys are not
playing in Dallas proper yet they're still the Dallas Cowboys.
The La Rams, and the San Diego Chargers. They're in Inglewood,

(16:24):
in the hood and up to no good. They're in Inglo,
So like Chicago, I will tell you they're definitely grooming
fans for the Indiana move. However, renaming them it would
kind of be like Coca Cola saying, yeah, we've had
the same name for a long time, why don't we
just rebrand? I don't we call it Gary's Fizzy brown Water.

(16:48):
That sounds good. Who doesn't want to drink fizzy brown water?
And we'll put the cocaine back in. People love cocaine,
so we'll put that back in. Gary's Fizzy Brown Water
with added cocaine. That sounds good. We'll sell a lot, Yes,
you will. You don't toss was it one hundred and
seven years or something like that of an NFL institution.

(17:09):
I think the Bears were founded in nineteen nineteen, I believe,
But either way, it's it's around one hundred years. It's
a little over a hundre years. One of the NFL's
most recognizable brands. You don't just toss that out into
Lake Michigan or Wolf Lake or whatever it is, just
because somebody moved the stadium a few miles across the

(17:29):
imaginary man made border on a map. You you just
don't do that. You don't. It is the Ben Mallor Show.

(21:32):
I thought this.

Speaker 7 (21:33):
Yes, yes, we ask you a question.

Speaker 1 (21:37):
Okay, how many melons.

Speaker 7 (21:39):
Can you name?

Speaker 1 (21:41):
How many melons can I name? I don't know three.
I'm not a big melon guy.

Speaker 7 (21:48):
Exactly exactly three?

Speaker 4 (21:50):
Right?

Speaker 9 (21:51):
I thought that only three melons existed, But apparently there
are like up to forty different types of melons.

Speaker 1 (22:00):
Well, nobody, nobody eats them, right, they're not popular or popular.

Speaker 7 (22:05):
Correct?

Speaker 9 (22:05):
But according to Google, there are five common melon varieties.
I had only heard of the three, you know, the
big three.

Speaker 1 (22:13):
The water the watermelon, right, the what else like the
honey deer, one candleope?

Speaker 9 (22:19):
Yeah, apparently there's there's there's a common and I'm putting
that in quotes melon called a galia melon.

Speaker 1 (22:30):
I don't know what that is.

Speaker 7 (22:31):
And a canary melon.

Speaker 1 (22:34):
Yeah, okay, how did this pop up?

Speaker 7 (22:39):
Lorena is currently eating watermelon, the juiciest.

Speaker 1 (22:43):
It is a delicious water that's the king of all melons.
The watermelon. It's amazing a hot day, it's just wonderful.

Speaker 7 (22:52):
You don't even have to like drink water. You can
just eat watermelon.

Speaker 1 (22:55):
Yeah, it's got the high water content, as.

Speaker 7 (22:57):
You know from how much water content is in a watermelon?

Speaker 1 (22:59):
Coop? A lot? The answer is a lot.

Speaker 7 (23:02):
I thought it was like ninety percent, but I could
be wrong. I'm double.

Speaker 1 (23:08):
Yeah. We we have a lot of water in our
body too, were mostly water, right.

Speaker 7 (23:12):
I believe we are like seventy five percent.

Speaker 1 (23:15):
Yeah, so we only had a little more, we'd just
be as delicious as watermelon.

Speaker 7 (23:18):
But we don't have that, So that's true.

Speaker 1 (23:20):
Shade. Yeah, unfortunate. Wrong, Oh, sixty percent, close enough, you know,
round up, one, round up. So I thought this was
called Michael Kay, who's a New York Yankee broadcast. I
guess his buddies with a Rod. I don't know a
Rod played for the Yankees. K was a broadcaster over
the team. So Michael Kay has an idea for a Rod,

(23:40):
and I think it's actually pretty funny. So he says
a Rod should come out of retirement for one at bat.
That way he would reset the clock on the Hall
of Fame. So come back, get like one at bat,
or play one game, and then Michael Kay to your shot.
He said the Marlins would pack the place they'd like,

(24:02):
the Marlins would give a Rod a ceremonial roster spot.
And he's like, well he's still in shape, and you know,
you can play a game or an any or whatever,
come back, get one at bat, pinch it and you
get that one at bat. You restart the clock, and
then it takes five more years before you're eligible, you know,
for the Hall of Fame. And then you've got ten

(24:24):
more years of being on the ballot. That gives him
fifteen years to get one at bat. Right right now,
you know, the clock is running and all that stuff.
And I think it's a good idea they used to.
This is a guy named Mini Minoso. Nobody knows who
that is. Who's younger than the age of like I
don't know fifty, But Mini Minoso would come out for

(24:46):
like the White Sox and play and get like a
token at bat or something like that. And I think
he did in the minor leagues two like every year
or a couple of years. And I think he did
it all the way until it's like sixties or something
like that. I forget. I'd have to look it up. Yeah,
why not little side promotion, a little side hustle, be
ridiculous and stupid. I'd be all all four, all four,

(25:09):
all right, So Ben Aller show, We've got the Coop
Scoop on entertainment coming up here, in a couple of
minutes and we will take your phone calls. My board
is currently being reset, so as that is being done,
we can tell you about a story that will be
with us all NFL season. Mike Vrabel, he went viral pictures.

(25:31):
Played the Colts last night in the scintillating thirteen thirteen tie,
and he dramatically launched the red Challenge flag high in
the air everywhere rather than simply tossing it out on
the field. There was a challenge after Anthony Richardson had

(25:55):
scrambled it was ruleed dime. It's a preseason game. I
don't want to give you the too much on that,
but the slow motion video of the theatrical toss and
Rabel of tossing this in the air, this thing went viral,
got over a million views on social media. The bots
really loved it, the algorithm loved it. And there's this

(26:17):
debate in the NFL do coaches give the flag job
of tossing the red flag the replay flag to somebody
else subordinate And asked whether he would delegate the job.
Mike Rabel gave the answer quote, no, I'll keep the
challenge flag. He said, you know, blah, blah, we're going
on the whole thing. It was just like a funny

(26:38):
preseason moment there as Rabel going viral. This is the
first time he's gone viral on a long time for
not canoodling with someone. So let's go to the phones.
We'll say hello, eeny, meeny, miney mo. Let's say hi
to Lucky Tony, who's in the Bay Area. Hello, Lucky Tony, Welcome.

Speaker 10 (26:58):
I don't need any of this stuff, and I don't
need you.

Speaker 4 (27:01):
Just this bear's hat.

Speaker 10 (27:02):
That's all I need. And this the porno tape and
the bear's hat. That's all I need. And that's all
I need to I don't need one other thing. I
need this, the dirt weed, the porno tape, and the
bear's hat for sure.

Speaker 1 (27:18):
Thank you. Hello to eed dog out on Long Island. Hello,
e Dog, Welcome. What's going on here?

Speaker 8 (27:29):
Man?

Speaker 1 (27:29):
I'm today ready to go my lucky day. How lucky
am I?

Speaker 8 (27:36):
Here's the question. Okay, you know my friend Johnny stucks.

Speaker 1 (27:40):
Right, I've heard you talk about him in the past.
Now does he know your your dating situation because you
dumped your girl last time we talked?

Speaker 8 (27:49):
You know, Listen, here's a friend in Chrissy, and she
gave me a me.

Speaker 1 (27:59):
She give you what.

Speaker 8 (28:01):
And lean Christy and she wrote down my number and
she called me a few times. But if you can
get the occupation of John Starks right now, you enterprise
and he guesses.

Speaker 1 (28:15):
Uh, yeah, I'm gonna guess what should I guess here?
Let's see here? So what do I have to guess again?
What am I guessing?

Speaker 8 (28:22):
If you want?

Speaker 1 (28:24):
Okay, what am I guessing again?

Speaker 8 (28:26):
What's John starks occupation?

Speaker 11 (28:29):
Now?

Speaker 1 (28:30):
All right? I know what this is. John Starks is
now a carrot Top impersonator in Times Square. He does
Carrot Tops act in Times Square for tourists from Germany, Loraina,
What do you think John Starks is doing these days?

Speaker 7 (28:46):
Go ahead, long, I think he's a watermelon farmer, all right?

Speaker 1 (29:53):
Oh he owns a car dealership. So you're that's a
very long stretch because you know how I had a
buddy of mine that was in the car business. You
know how the car dealerships make their money. They make
their money on those They overcharge people for repairs. That's
how they make their money. So you kind of are
if you own a car dealership, you totally screw people
over repairing cars. That's how that business works. I was

(30:14):
told by somebody who knows a lot about it.

Speaker 7 (30:15):
And on the extra the extended warranties.

Speaker 1 (30:19):
Yes, yes, extended warranty and then they always you know,

goes after a mysterious cosmic event rips Oak Street from
suburbia and transports their neighborhood to someplace unknown. The Platte
family soon discovers that their very survival depends on them
sticking together as they navigate they're now unrecognizable surroundings. I

musical are interrupted by disturbing news at home. We've got
Steve Buscemi and John Lovett's in this one.

And I've heard of the Green Lantern. Yes, famous in
the like the nineteen thirties.

Speaker 7 (35:02):
Yes, that is true, it is.

Speaker 9 (35:06):
It doesn't take specific storylines from the comics, but it's
structured as a murder investigation that draws elements throughout Green
Lantern's history as well as from TV shows like True
Detective and Slow Horses and I Believe this is starring
Finnwindtrock of Stranger Things Fame. First of eight episodes Sunday
