Speaker 2 (00:24):
What a Monday Night.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
Football Debaca we got to cover on eleven eleven and
a lot of people make a wish that they hadn't
spent their lively savings to go to lambeau Field. We'll
get to that upcoming. What a great show for you
we have for you. And the guys are all here right,
my guy, Dan Byer, Jason Stewart, Iowa, Sam.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
Everybody's here. News to theday.

Speaker 1 (00:50):
Nico Harrison's been fired. We'll talk about that upcoming. But
I want to get to the game of the night,
the game of the weekend, the Eagles and Packers game.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
Now full disclosure.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
I went to the game and you're like, wait, what
that's a humble break. It is and it isn't because
there's a lot I don't know about because when you're
at the game, you can't, mean unless you're gonna listen
with AirPods in, you can't you know, you don't have
a commentary. So you have the commentary of all the fans,
which is good and is bad. We'll talk about a
lot about that in the podcast.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
But I.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
Don't really even know what Nick Sirianni was doing, let
alone what the Green Bay Packers were doing in terms
of trying to win the game. At the end of
the game. I ask it because with like two and
a half minutes to go on second down, the Eagles
chose choose to throw the ball on second and third
down instead of run the football, get it to the

(01:52):
two minute warning, and then if you're gonna throw it,
do it on third down, where you know, obviously you
should run it on the three depth. You run on
third down, then they have to use one of their timeouts,
and then whatever happens, probably punting, which they should have done,
they didn't do. You know, then you have a limited
time and limited timeouts to get the ball back instead.

(02:17):
Instead they end up actually because of what a penalty
getting the first door, they got a first down. Actually,
no excuse me, they punt the ball to the Green
Bay Packers, who then get nothing at the offense then
punt the ball back to the Eagles, who then do

(02:39):
it again and try and bleed out the clock. The
only reason they can't bleed out the clock is because
you're right, the Green Bay Packers have timeouts. Then the
Packers get the ball back and they get like twenty
five to twenty seven seconds to go. They throw it
deep over the middle on first down into like triple coverage.
The second pass, you know, with twenty seconds ago, is

(03:00):
you know, ten to fifteen yards whatever it was. The
whole thing was like, I don't want to win it,
you win it. I don't want to win it, you
win it. It was bizarre. Then you factor in how
many times it felt like the Packers were choosing to
run the football twenty one carries to thirty six passing attempts.

(03:20):
Many of those passing attempts came late in the game
when they had to and there was an extremely conservative
game plan for the Packers, And now people start to go, hey,
Matt Lafleur, what's going on with this offense? Meanwhile, the Eagles,
was Jalen Hurts good not really? Was Sek im Barkley dominant,
not really, but Sequon Barkley catches one ball, goes forty

(03:43):
one yards, you know, puts a dB on spin cycle.
They throw it to Devonte's Davante Smith in the end
zone for you know, for a touchdown. And that was
really the limit to the explosive plays in the entire game.
The Eagles won the way the Eagles always win, which
is ugly. We don't got to win pretty, We'll win ugly.
And the Packers couldn't figure out their offense while trying

(04:07):
to protect their quarterback and work through not having Tucker
Craft as the safety blanket to Jordan Love. But all
of that just weird decisions by the coaching stabs. Or
maybe it was by Jalen Hurts, because with two twenty
five to go, when he threw the ball out a bounce,
it did look like an RBO and maybe he missread it.

(04:30):
Maybe he should have handed the ball to Saquon Barkley.
Barkley Barkley, byer, do you have any idea what heck
was going on with that play calling late by either side?

Speaker 3 (04:39):
I mean, considering on how poorly Green Bay did on
offense last night, it didn't make much sense for the
Eagles to put the ball in the air in that situation.
Just I mean, you got the first down with Saquon
Barkley to get into Packers' territory. Worst case Anario, you

(05:00):
punt it away and they're back deep with no timeouts
or a way to use most of their timeouts. So no,
it didn't It didn't make much sense at all. I
understand the aggressive nature of it, but it's also it's
not like this game was like the Bengals and Bears
a couple of weeks ago, where you're like, we just
got to keep the ball because we can't let them

(05:22):
have it.

Speaker 1 (05:23):
Well, it's also just the math of it, right, just
giving less opportunities, you know, and again you give the
I'll give you an example in our game, and for
people who don't know, we played a game at eleven am,
played a kid's day game and got our first win
the season. But at the end of the first half,
my point guard was like, hey, coach, I can you

(05:46):
know they're the free throw liners twenty six seconds ago
the first half, He's like, can I push if I
get a layup? I say, you can get a dead layup,
take it, take it. But if not dribble that thing out,
let's run, let's play for one one shot. So he
drives in there gets it dead layup, but he takes
a kind of a weird shot and they defend it.
He misses, they come down, they miss a shot. We

(06:06):
go in with a small lead at that And the
point was I try to teach him day is here's
the reason that even if maybe if you have a
dead wide open layup, but otherwise you don't, it's just
because of the It's about number of possessions. If you
hold for the last shot, they cannot will not get
another possession. They cannot will not score another point. But

(06:29):
even if you score, if you give them opportunity one,
we can accrue a foul or two, they can still score.
And they can score three versus R two if we
get a layup. Technically I'd take a layup as a
ninety five plus percent shot.

Speaker 2 (06:41):
Otherwise I would not.

Speaker 1 (06:43):
So it's the same thing with the with the Eagles, like, yes, yes,
you're totally right. The Packers did not have offense the
entire game. Why should they be scared of running down
the clock as much as you want punt them, pin
them deep, and then say hey, if you're gonna beat
this or get to a field goal, knock yourselves out.

Speaker 2 (07:01):
Let's see.

Speaker 1 (07:01):
Well but again, all of that still could have been true,
only with less time on the clock. Right, there's two
twenty five to go. If you run the football and
you get tackled the line of scrimmage, it goes to
the two minute warning. Packers still have three timeouts. If
you run the football again, Packers have to call another timeout.
So now they'll get the ball back with one fifty five.
If you don't get the first down, there's no reason

(07:23):
to think they would get the first down anyway, or
wouldn't get the first down anyway. And they're a running team,
it's what they do. So they would have had only
two timeouts and how much time to get back. So again,
it it made no sense to me none. Here's Nick
Sirianni after the game explaining it.

Speaker 4 (07:41):
I think we were it was into the wind on
that one. I knew the kick would had to be
a little bit lower traractory of a kick on that
On that particular one. I got a lot of faith
in our offense. It didn't work out on this one.
You know, you know, we we just didn't. We just
didn't get it. But the decision I stand put on

(08:02):
that decision, you know, especially being up three, because you
go up six, they're still going to need a touchdown
in hell Mary everything like that. So we would ended
the game if we would have got that, and then
got a lot of faith in our guys to be
able to do that. But the reason I didn't kick
the field goal again being up three, and also just
this trajectory into the wind there on that particular one.

Speaker 1 (08:25):
Okay, so here I think he's talking about the last
possession at the next to last possession, which is what
I'm talking about. Nonetheless, he actually is contradicting himself while
talking about it. Here's what I mean, Dan one. Yes,
so if you get stopped there, they're like two complete
passes away from being in field goal range. And he

(08:46):
just admitted that the Green Bay Packers had the wind
at their back. Get his explanation makes no sense at
all none. Having the wind in your face on a
punt is actually a good thing when you're trying to
pin somebody back, right, because it means that the wind
will keep the ball from going into the end zone. Theoretically,

(09:07):
percentage time wise. So the idea like, I never thought
about punting my offense. I'm not saying your offense you
can go forward on fourth down. That didn't make any
sense either. Why don't you punt with however many seconds ago,
there's like forty seconds ago? Why would you punt? Why
would you let them? I mean, if the Packers would
have kept the backup field goal kicker instead of shot

(09:30):
set of McManus, who clearly can't kick the ball sixty
five yards in the air, they would have a shot.
And the over reason they had a shot was because
you stubbornly refused to punt.

Speaker 2 (09:42):
So just because it worked out does not make it
the right decision.

Speaker 1 (09:46):
Sirianni made two awful decisions next to the last possession,
throwing it on third, second and third down and last possession,
just punt the ball on fourth, punt the ball on fourth.
They have no timeouts. They would have had I don't know,
twenty or so seconds left to go make a play
because they didn't punch. So they got the ball with

(10:07):
twenty five seconds ago, right.

Speaker 3 (10:08):
Well, so what yeah? Yeah, it was because the first
part of the timeouts was on the other side of
the two minute warning, where They then did end up
punting it to green Bay, and so then green Bay
ended up having the fumble on the fourth down play
that stalled their drive. And then when they got the

(10:29):
football back, green Bay still had the two timeouts, and
green Bay used the timeouts. It was then on the
fourth down where they just threw it up to A J. Brown,
where you should have just I don't care if you're
at the thirty five yard line, just punt it out
of the end zone, just booming as far as you can.

Speaker 1 (10:45):
No, you just you can try and kill him in
the corner. You know, you get to wear your face
try and kill them in the corner. Yeah, it's it
still uses up the exact same amount of time.

Speaker 2 (10:54):
As it came bought about. You didn't make any sense
at all.

Speaker 3 (10:56):
I think you're arguing in the way of nobody punts
from the thirty five yard line anymore. So to be
able to do that is I actually think it's trickier
for a punter to be able to try to put one,
because it's just you don't give them any room. But
that doesn't negate the point that I would much rather
have Green Bay start at their own twenty yard line.

(11:18):
Correct then start from their own thirty five yard line
and be able to at least get in position to
throw up a hail mary.

Speaker 1 (11:26):
Right, So here's we're making the same point in a
different way. Okay. Regardless of whether or not he punted
it into the end zone or try to do a
coffin corner, they weren't going for the first down. They
were trying to use clock, and by throwing the ball
out of bounds you accomplished nothing. Essentially, you took a

(11:48):
knee and hand the ball to them and ran four
or five seconds off the clock. You could run four
or five seconds off the clock and punted it out
of bounds or coffin corner, whichever way you want, and
they would have had a They would have had, you know,
at a minimum eighty yards to go to get a
touchdown and forty yards to go to get a field goal.
Either way, he made the wrong decision. He didn't make

(12:12):
the wrong You're like, well, they won the game. That
doesn't make it the right decision. It's process over result.
And he gave the Packers again, the Packers, if they
complete one more pass, then they're in well within field
goal range. And there's a lot of kickers in the
NFL that can kick a sixty five yard field goal
right now, mcmannus is not one of them.

Speaker 3 (12:32):
Well, he's also not one of them when it's twenty
degrees and the football is a rock, like like, that's
got it. He got a warm up when he wasn't
supposed to. Was short yep. Then Green Bay runs their
play to try to get a couple of yards, which
really wasn't close because Love just airmailed it to take
more time off the clock, which no.

Speaker 2 (12:52):
They had.

Speaker 1 (12:52):
The Eagles had two defensive backs right there on the sideline.
They had one on each side, so you couldn't run
little like three yard out, you know, just throw it
out of bounds. So what happened was he looked up
and looked and saw those guys there, so he just
aired Yeah.

Speaker 3 (13:07):
No, I'm aware of all that. It's just the point
of they had the kicking unit out on the field, yes, yes,
and then they pulled them back off on the fourth
down play to say, hey, let's get a couple of
more yards in that scenario, didn't get it, and then
brought the field goal team back out on the field.
Just doesn't make any sense whatsoever, Like you just showed

(13:30):
that he couldn't make a sixty five yarder when there
was nobody rushing. Why in the world would you think
that he could make one on the second try. So
I would have just thrown one up as a hail
Mary at the end. If you're Matt Lafleur, sure you
don't get the completion on the out route, but why
are you putting your field goal unit back out on
the field for an attempt that The second attempt was horrendous.

(13:54):
It's like when you learn Madden and then they've changed
the kicking style for the first time and you have
no idea how to get it.

Speaker 1 (13:59):
It's a good reference, that's a good pull.

Speaker 3 (14:01):
It was awful.

Speaker 2 (14:02):
Yeah, it's a good pool.

Speaker 1 (14:04):
For forty years, Tyrek's been helping customers find the right
tyres for Oulutin where they drive ship fast free back
by free road as protection with convenience slation options like
mobile time slation. Tyret dot Com the way tire buying
should be. Here's our Tyret play today, care of ninety
four WIP the Eagles Radio Network. Johann Dawson in motion,
hurts fakes, looks steps up, he has floating the football.

Speaker 2 (14:24):
It is for Davonte Smith.

Speaker 3 (14:25):
Many got it.

Speaker 5 (14:27):
He took out a wire.

Speaker 2 (14:28):
From the defender. He took it out of the hands
of Edwin.

Speaker 5 (14:31):
Williams, Defonte Smith from Jay Love hurt.

Speaker 1 (14:36):
It was pretty amazing how quickly that happened. It was
the boringest game on record. And I turned my buddy Jason,
who was in town, and I said, boy, Saque hasn't
done anything. He's like, yeah, neither is Davonte Smith. And
then Saquon does, DeVante Smith does. Good Night, Drive home safely.

Speaker 6 (14:52):
Be sure to catch the live edition of The Doug
Gottlieb Show weekdays at three pm Eastern noon Pacific on
Fox Sports Radio in the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (15:03):
Stug gott Leap Show. You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
I saw this quote. This is an interesting one. According
to ESPN. When I asked Monday about Brian Dabole being
fired and if he would consider reaching out to him,
Sean McDermott said, yeah, Now, I understand why you're asking that.
Brian's a great coach, unfortunate to see that happen for him.
At this point, that's not under any type of consideration.

(15:27):
I think we can tell that that relationship did not
end end well.

Speaker 2 (15:30):
Is that fair? Right?

Speaker 1 (15:32):
Didn't win well between between Nick dermott.

Speaker 2 (15:38):
And day Ball.

Speaker 3 (15:41):
I think there's also the fact of you'd kind of
be undermining Joe Brady yep in his role at that
time by doing that.

Speaker 1 (15:48):
No question, but the way in which it's answered tells
you what you need to know. Man, if there's a
way in which we could find a role for him,
I'd love to. That guy's awesome. Awesome, we do have
Joe Brady's taken over and he's amazing. But that wasn't
how Sean McDermott answered it. I understand why you're asking
the question. Is a great way of explaining. I don't

(16:11):
want to answer this honestly, because if I do, it's
going to tell you what I really think. What I
really think is I don't want that guy anywhere near
my staff. I would also tell you that McDermott, no
matter how much better his record is than Brian daball Ta,
Ball had a great working relationship with Josh Allen Tay
Ball's actually from Buffalo. McDermott, while not truly on the

(16:35):
hot seat, is theoretically on some sort of warmer sort
of seat. And I'm sure that in the back of
his mind it'd be like, why would I hire the
guy who they'll probably move over to replace me?

Speaker 2 (16:46):
That would be dumb.

Speaker 1 (16:48):
All that's fine, But he's telling you all those things
around his mind based upon his answer. That's my read.
Why the Mavericks fire niek oh Harrison now because people
keep chanting fire Nico because Anthony Davis is hurt.

Speaker 2 (17:08):
I just this is one of those.

Speaker 1 (17:10):
Deals where I understand you're allowed to think how you
want to think about Nico Harrison and the trade that
they pulled off, but still not seeing it to fruition
is embarrassing for the Dallas Mavericks. It just is.

Speaker 2 (17:27):
I don't know how you could evaluate.

Speaker 1 (17:28):
Yes, Lucas looked great and he's finally gotten himself in shape,
but Kyrie Irving tore his knee, Anthony Davis is hurt.
And if your point is, hey, you trade away, you
trade away Luca because he's always hurt and you got
Anthony Davis who's always hurt and older, it's a fair point.
But if hey, we're not better as a basketball team
like Kyrie towards knee, how about we wait till the.

Speaker 2 (17:52):
End of the year.

Speaker 1 (17:55):
This is inexperience of ownership and an overreactive to a
fan base, which saddening now cares I disagree with it.
Doesn't mean he can't fire him, but if you were
going to fire him, should have been in the off season.
If you're going to start this season and build this team,
let this team. Let's let let's see what it looks

(18:16):
like when everybody's healthy. All right, stug Gotlieb show here
on Fox Sports Radio. John Middelkoff is our guest. UH
Three Down is the podcast on the Volume podcast network. John,
Let's start with the news of today, Brian dave us
of yesterday, Brian Daball out of a job.

Speaker 2 (18:33):
What's your reaction?

Speaker 7 (18:36):
I think once you blow the fourth quarter lead again
for the fourth time several times now, having a double
digit lead with five or six minutes to go, and
I think the way it happened, he declined a penalty
which would have given him first down at the half
yard line, which could have essentially iced the game if
they score a touchdown, chose to keep the points, and

(18:57):
then it all unraveled, as well as the quarterback getting
injured because you're running quarterback power like you have Cam Newton.
I think it was just an accumulation of things. At
the end of the day, the production based business. He
was twenty and forty, you know. I mean a lot
of people make fun of Mike McDaniel. I google it
this morning. He has a winning record. He's thirty one
and thirty. So when you go twenty forty and one,

(19:19):
not many people in the sport of football, college or
pro survive.

Speaker 1 (19:23):
No, I agree and understand that. I guess my question though,
is why now?

Speaker 7 (19:29):
Well the Bears game, I mean I just think it's like,
what are we doing at this point? And you give
Mike Kapka, who was kind of right up the Giants,
Valley Northwestern guy, former quarterback, just high level guy, you know,
a two month interview to see if maybe they got
something on the staff.

Speaker 1 (19:48):
Stuck Outleap show here on Fox Sports Radio, John Middlecoff
is our guest. Before we get to the decision making
at the end of the game, help me out, what
are your thoughts on what's missing at the backers offense.

Speaker 7 (20:01):
Well, obviously they're missing a couple of wide receivers. I
mean Tucker who is over receiving tight end that crushes him.
Golden who they draft in the first round. Injured Dobbs
gets hurt last night. Their other wide receivers are dropping
the ball. So I do agree with the floor. From
an execution standpoint, Love is a roller coaster. I mean

(20:23):
I thought he was like Aaron Rodgers level bad in
the first half. Second half, he played well, but the coaching,
I mean the the procedural penalties of you know, they
had multiple called. I mean the one on the big
first down was a killer, and that's that's on the coach.
You know, the Jacobs play where he runs the wrong

(20:44):
way on the screen for the delayed kind of running
back pass. I mean, what was that would have been
a minimum thirty five to forty yard game? I mean
all that stuff like you don't fire Josh Jacobs. So
I think when people say Matt Lafleur, you know the
I guess the Eagles were screaming out the play that
was coming on the fourth down play which also the
Packers had a penalty, so even if they would have

(21:05):
got it, it wouldn't have counted. I thought it was a
really really rough hat from Matt before.

Speaker 2 (21:12):
Okay, how did they fix it?

Speaker 7 (21:14):
I mean, they just need to catch the ball. And
coach better. But I mean, I think we've kind of seen,
you know, this year's kind of been on full display.
I mean, the defense is pretty awesome and that's with
like even last night, Parsons I don't think had a
quarterback hit. So the defense definitely not the problem, which
is kind of ironic most of the Aaron Rodgers era

(21:35):
of the last fifteen years, in the last couple of
years of Jordan Love, I guess last year started turning around,
but the defense has kind of let down the Packers
and now it feels like their strength and their offense
is the prompts. So, I mean, we're in early mid November,
so I think we have to acknowledge two things that
Lafour's really feeling the pressure right ed policy you live
there said this offseason like, yeah, we're not going to

(21:57):
extend their contracts, and it was like, oh, they'll be
fine the other and I thought that too, And now
you watched last night the first time, I kind of
thow it, WHOA this he might be in a little trouble.
He keeps looking like this, and Jordan Love like, I mean,
at this point in time, he kind of is what
he is. He definitely has some talent. He can look
good for series or a quarter, but he's kind of

(22:18):
a roller coaster. We can wake up week out, you know,
quarter to quarter.

Speaker 1 (22:24):
He is very much a roller coaster. What about the Eagles, Like,
I know they won the game, but their offense looked
very pedestrian as well, with the exception of you know,
two plays kind of back to back, sake one in
the flatin then DeVante Davante in the end zone.

Speaker 2 (22:40):
What are your thoughts on the Eagles?

Speaker 1 (22:42):
And look, I know that's how they win games, but
at some point you're like, man, this is just not pretty.

Speaker 2 (22:49):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (22:49):
They were obviously a much more dominant running team last year.
Their offensive line was healthy and good. They've lost backed
into the Chargers. Dickerson's been banged up and Mean Lane
Johnson's battle injuries this year, so that hurts them. I
think their passing game has always been a little seats
for famine, But at the end of the day, they
have two high priced wide receivers, so it's like you're

(23:11):
gonna get some big plays if you just kind of
throw it up to them. To me, what stood out
last night is like, you know, the defense early in
the season was kind of hit or miss. You look
last night like they were healthy and looked pretty good.
Ye had Jalen Phillips. We know how good Carter is.
I mean they got multiple linebackers. I mean, I asked
Kirby Smart and n Kobe Dean's probably one of his
favorite players' ever coached, as well as Nolan Smith. He's

(23:32):
back obviously Mitchell, you know, he's he might not be
Stingley junior, but like he's that type athlete who can
mirror guys. He's pretty special. The Jean's good, and they
got they got Dick Fangjill. So maybe this year that
they're really gonna rely on their defense and just hope

(23:52):
Jalen can hit enough big plays in the passing game,
you know, and Saque can kind of work his magic.
But they're probably less likely. I think last year they
said it record right, it was like seven or eight
runs of over fifty plus yards. That's not happening this year.
But their defense is definitely playing better, and they just
they gotta find a way to get aj Brown a

(24:12):
little more involved. But I mean, at this point in time,
I don't think we should hold our breath.

Speaker 1 (24:17):
No, I don't. I don't and I don't. I don't
think you see it happening?

Speaker 2 (24:22):
Is it? Doug o Gotlieb show yost to Fox Sports.

Speaker 1 (24:25):
Radio Man, there's a lot of other stuff. JJ McCarthy.
Two more interceptions and a loss to the Ravens, and
it's not a classic great Ravens defense. I get that
he's missed time. I get its first his first year
as a starter, But where are you on, JJ McCarthy.

Speaker 7 (24:42):
I just think it's really hard. Obviously he hasn't been
great in the limited action he's had this year. But
when you go to a team with the XOK, I
mean they won fourty games last year and we're sixty
minutes away from winning fifteen and being the number one seed.
So it's not like going to most crappy teams where
it's like you get the li learned like that. So
what you throw a couple of picks, throw a couple

(25:02):
of nice passes. Everyone's happy. Every play is dissected. And
we saw it a couple of years ago with Trey
Lance that had just ate him alive. Now JJ McCarthy's
better than Trey Lance. But there's a pressure when you're
starter on as a young player for a really really
talented team. I do think their coach gets a little
pass happy and J. J. McCarthy did not grow up

(25:24):
in a pass happy system. I mean Jim Harbaugh, which
is kind of ironic because this year they're passing the
ball a lot more. But like his entire life has
he's I know he's a former quarterback, but he coached,
you know, at Stanford with a forty nine ers of
Michigan much more like he's a defensive coach. He would
have no problem running at forty times a game, so
they never had to rely on JA did that way

(25:45):
and Kevin O'Connell likes downing up passes over and over
and over again. We saw it with Sam Darnol last
year in the playoff game when he was struggling, he
just kept calling passes. And I don't know if you
saw the clip where on one of the picks last week,
Jefferson just kind of quits and I saw a lot
of people crushing him. And listen, receivers can be a little,

(26:05):
uh little fickle personality wise up and down. But I
think he's thinking, I'm watching the guy play with last
year compete and be like a front runner for MVP.
I got this kid who is completely over his head.
What the bleep are we doing? And I just think
that the more and more, Sam Darnold, he's looking like

(26:25):
he's looking it's and I understand. Listen, they drafted the
kid high. They went all in on him, which is understandable,
but I think we have to acknowledge it's kind of
blowing up in their face by the week.

Speaker 1 (26:40):
It is blown up in their face by the week.
If there's any question about it. This is the Doug
Gottlieb Show. You're listening to Fox Sports Radio again. I
don't know how what you think of some of the
podcasters like, h was it a manuao manuacho?

Speaker 5 (26:57):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (26:58):
Basically called on people to thinks black people will riot
if Shador Sanders doesn't get an opportunity.

Speaker 4 (27:04):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (27:04):
Dylan Gabriel, you see the tape? How do you look?

Speaker 7 (27:08):
Uh? When you say seed the tape, I mean I
I don't watch the Browns anymore. I mean they were
on one of my TVs. Every time I look up,
he's got a peace shooter arm. He can't move. But
it's not like they think Shador isn't as good as him.
I mean, I honestly, I think the Browns, you know,
to me, Chadors and Dylan are both kind of irrelevant.
I think it's more of a reflection. Everyone asks like

(27:30):
all these coaches should get fired, and the Browns every
time I look, they just loose, and I feel like
they get the fly under the radar. And I've had
this serious you know, Kevin Stefanski's Ivy League guy, Andrew
Berry's Ivy League guy. Media kind of gravitates towards those
types and they get a they get a huge pass.
Even I thought the Steve Podesta today like, yeah, we
really screwed that thing up, Like, oh yeah, kind of.

(27:52):
I mean, I'm watching your organization, even having Shador Sanders
on your team, what are you guys doing? You just
drafted a guy the third round that that organization I
think gets a bigger pass for being a dumpster fire,
you know, like when the Raiders operate like that, everyone
makes fun of them. People have been ripping on the Dolphins.
They just blew out the Bills. I mean they just

(28:14):
lost the Jets. Justin field didn't account for one hundred
yards passing and running. I think it's it's almost underrated
how bad the Browns are.

Speaker 2 (28:23):
Right, now almost underrated.

Speaker 3 (28:26):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (28:28):
Okay, when you watched Aaron Rodgers struggle against the Chargers,
was it about the Chargers defense or is it about
Aaron Rodgers?

Speaker 7 (28:37):
Well, I do think it was kind of funny. I
like the Steelers a lot in that spot, which you
can kind of tell earlier, like, uh, this is not
gonna be good. I actually think Jim Harbaugh has become
what Mike Tomlin used to be and the Steelers used
to be early in his tenure, because they came into
that game, their offensive line wasn't shambles. The Steelers has

(28:57):
the momentum. You're like, it's gonna be a home game
for the Steelers, and Jim Harbaugh's team hit them right
in the teeth from the jump and it was over quick.
I think with Aaron Rodgers, you and I a couple
of years ago when Tom was still playing, and I
never fault these guys once you get I mean once
you're over forty. That when Khalil Mack who looks him
at Neil Hunter, I don't know what they're lifting situation is,

(29:20):
but I want some of what they're on because they
look fantastic and Khalil Khalil is one of my favorite
players in the league, and he's still playing at a
high level. When he landed on Aaron, Aaron was like,
I'm not doing this tonight. And the Chargers were just
relentless and Aaron wanted no part of it. And remember
when the four first got there that last year, McCarthy,

(29:41):
You know, Aaron was getting a little older. You know,
it's fundamentals were no longer the Brady mannings. They were awful.
Balls are flying all over the place, and it kind
of looked like that because it's like, well, I'm not
stepping into this brow if there's anyone in charge of
uniformy remotely close to me. And that one in the
flat where he kind of turns again, I don't blame

(30:02):
him at all. He's forty one, but you have no
chance with you know, his limited athletic ability relative to
what it used to be. If he's gonna even the
box that year with Tom like once, you don't want
to get hit at all. I'm not talking about just
taking like a full on seck. I'm just talking like
getting bumped into. It's really hard to function at a
high level. And I think Doug, like I saw a

(30:24):
couple of weeks ago. I'm like, listen, the mask not
on their side. There's no way the Ravens can come back.
I don't even think it's even a question now if
you tell me, by the time they play at the
end of this month, I expect the Ravens to be
in first place. I mean, I think the Steelers have
major problems on.

Speaker 1 (30:40):
Their hands right now and the crazy Bart. I don't
think the Raves are very good.

Speaker 7 (30:45):
No, they're probably relative to what they've been. They're definitely
out of good.

Speaker 1 (30:48):
Yeah, I mean like they're usually an unbelievable defensive team,
you know, with Lamar and Good, good good. I don't
think their defense is great. And obviously Labar has been
great this year. He's been hurt a good portion of time.
But even a completed defense of the Ravens feels like
it's trending better than the Steelers.

Speaker 7 (31:05):
I do think, Doug and I don't know if you've
talked about this, the day Ball thing, I do think
if if the Steelers missed the playoffs this year after
starting four and one and the Ravens whatever, they were
one and five, the Tomlin thing is just runs course.
I do think Mike Tomlin would make a lot of
sense in New York. Would just give him some credibility,
he'd get a fresh start. I mean, Pete Carroll's been fired,

(31:27):
Belichick's been fired, Andy Reid's been fired. Like it's sports.
You can't just keep in thirty years to say, hey,
we never fire a coach. It's not working. If I'm him, like,
I'd want to go to the Giants and get a restart.

Speaker 2 (31:40):
No question.

Speaker 3 (33:01):
Douga Matt Gayton on this Tuesday is rank them all Right,
Doug ranked the top three teams in the NFL through
ten weeks of the season.

Speaker 5 (33:12):
All right, Michael Jackson popcorn gif right now, I'm anxiously
awaiting this. This is my favorite part of the week.

Speaker 2 (33:21):
Okay, number three, he.

Speaker 1 (33:25):
Gets a popcorn Readynmber three, no birthree the Indianapolis Colts.
But the Colts at three, They're eight and two on
the year, Jonathan Taylor's MVP candidate. They have not lost
a game at home. Although it should be pointed out
they've played six at home and only four on the road,
so there should be smeevening out surprise team in the league.

(33:47):
I don't think there's any question. Number number two, your
Los Angeles Rams rebuilt the defense last year, Matt Stafford.
I mean, the whole question is can he stay healthy?
But man is he nasty. He's been really And Number one,
I'm gonna go filled up Eagles, going filled up Eagles.

(34:08):
I get it. They can win ugly, they can win
and lose ugly. But they just beat the Packers in
Green Bay. They've beaten the Chiefs, they beaten the Rams.
We just listed in our top three, the beaten Buccaneers
by a playoff team on the road, and they won
the Super Bowl. They got a good defense, they can
really run the football. They have talent on offense. I'll

(34:29):
go with the filled up Eagles number one.

Speaker 3 (34:30):
All right, Jason Stewart, Does that satisfy your your itch
for some rankings?

Speaker 5 (34:35):
Dan, if you're not going to voice your frustration resentment,
I'll do it for you. That's again he left the
Seahawks out of the top three. That's that's three or four?
What do the Seahawks need to do.

Speaker 3 (34:48):
Maybe they need to beat the Rams this Sunday on
the road in LA. That would be an automatic. That
would be a golden ticket in the Doug's top three
if they.

Speaker 1 (34:57):
Run the same question. No question, the the golden ticket
in the top three.

Speaker 3 (35:02):
The zero the Colts, by the way, five home games
because they just had the neutral game against the neutral
Syche game in Berlin this past weekend. But still an
impressive start for the for the Colts, who will have
a showdown with the Kansas City Chiefs after the Colts
by in week eleven. All Right, Doug, your top three
NFL MVP candidates through ten weeks of the year.

Speaker 1 (35:25):
It's great question, great question, great question. Thank you, Doug.
I'll take it from here.

Speaker 7 (35:30):
Take you, Doug, I'll take it from here.

Speaker 1 (35:36):
Number Number three justin Herbert. Not much in regards to
an offensive line, uh with with all the injuries. They've had,
massive injuries at running back, and he keeps putting up
numbers and winning games. Number two Drake May Drake May
the turnaround with the New England Patriots. It's not complete,

(35:59):
but it's happened, and I know their defense is much
part of the story. But he is the quarterback, and
number one to me is Jonathan Taylor. He's already got
eleven hundred yards rushing eleven hundred yards. His dads are
kind of abscene there where. He's got eleven hundred yards
through ten games, and then receiving, he's got what thirty

(36:22):
catches thirty catch as well, which is a little low,
but he's on track to challenge for two thousand yards. Granted,
I know there's an additional game now as opposed to previously,
but he's on track to challenge for it. The culture
in first place, He's maybe the biggest reason why Jonathan
Taylor's my number one MVP candidates now.

Speaker 3 (36:41):
He's third right now according to bet Online, with the
shortest odds at seven to two. Drake may A second
at thirteen to four, and right now, the quarterback of
the Los Angeles Rams, Matthew Stafford atop those odds boards
at three to one. Justin Herbert for you, twenty eight
to one. Right now, he and Baker Mayfield have the
same odds of winning the MVP, all right, Rank your
top three coaches in college football.

Speaker 2 (37:02):
In college football, college.

Speaker 3 (37:05):
Football got some rankings coming out.

Speaker 2 (37:07):
Tonight, Yeah, rank them. It's a hard one.

Speaker 1 (37:15):
I still think I'm gonna put Kirby Smart at uh,
Kirby star Bit at one, okay, because he's national championships.
I'm gonna put Signetti at three only because he hasn't
won a championship yet. And then I'll put Ryan Day
at two. It's coming off a national championship. They're in
their number one in the country. I know people take

(37:35):
lots of shots on him, but predamn good beat Texas
start of the year. I'm gonna put Ryan Dad two.
All right. It is so so Kirby Smart, Ryan Day, Kirk.

Speaker 3 (37:45):
And that's game time.

Speaker 6 (37:48):
Game This is game time on the got Leaf.

Speaker 1 (37:52):
