Speaker 1 (00:35):
You know, tonight is Game five between the Dodgers and
the Padres, and I think this is a really good
one too. You know, we were trying to describe whether
that's the rivalry, and Jason Stewart it came across as
the arrogant Dodger fan. But I actually think he's right
in this case in that it's not really a rivalry,
(00:57):
you know, just not, and it's mostly a concoction of
the Padres wanting to be the Dodgers. But but what
what what that level of confidence or arrogance hides is
the fact that the Dodgers have been I guess, by
Jason's estimation, colossal underachievers. You know, they've had a decade
(01:18):
of dominance in their division. They got one World Series
win in during COVID to show for it, right, So
a little bit of it is Dodger arrogance and a
little bit of it is Dodger insecurity. But whatever it is,
it has made to this kind of cool, sort of
quasi new age rivalry. And as I told you guys yesterday,
(01:44):
there's a lot more to it than just hey, they're
they're the only two good baseball teams in Southern California,
or the you know, the I five rivalry, whatever you
want to call it. It's there's the kind of culture
war going on between a team that has that flamboyant
sort of Latin flair. You know, we're gonna we're gonna
(02:04):
bat flip, we're gonna pimp home runs, we're gonna punch
punch you out on strikeouts, all that stuff to the
Dodgers being the Hey, act like you've been there before,
even though many of these guys haven't truly been there before.
Speaker 2 (02:19):
And then you got game five.
Speaker 1 (02:21):
You have the best player, I think, by most people's estimation,
in the history of the sport, right, the best player
in the history of the sport, going against some really,
really talented guys, including one guy who used to play
for the Dodgers and seems to know how to kind
of twist the knife in the back of the Dodgers.
We know, Jason Stewart, you have zero confidence, right you
(02:43):
You assume this is not just gonna be a loss,
but this is gonna be a uh this is I
noticed your voice.
Speaker 2 (02:50):
You don't even think this is gonna be close.
Speaker 3 (02:52):
No, and I had the exact same feeling going into
game four. I will say this, the chemistry has changed.
Tonight's gonna be interesting. Okay, there's a five o'clock start,
and if anyone's ever been in Los Angeles, getting anywhere
at five o'clock on a Friday is impossible. So what
do you have to do? You got to get there
at two o'clock. That's when the gates open. We're gonna
(03:15):
start drinking at two o'clock for a game that starts
at five, and we'll go three and a half four
hours by the end of that game, and depending on
the level of intensity. The chemistry in that building tonight
is just going to be so extreme that it's I mean,
it's impossible to predict what's gonna happen tonight in the game.
(03:37):
I'm definitely not optimistic, but it's gonna be such a
fascinating watch because you know for a fact that one
of the Podreys is going to do something to show
up the Dodgers or to show up the fans, And
then then you have to start talking about malice at
the palace. You have to start talking about potential violent situations.
(04:00):
Major League Baseball has said nothing over the last four
or five days about what happened during Game two, and
I think it's on Major League Baseball to try to
remedy this or to try to get out in front
of it. I don't know if there's an increased security.
I don't know anything about that. I haven't heard one
thing about it. So besides the game being crucial, I
(04:24):
think a second tier of viewing is what's going to
happen in that stadium tonight if the wrong person does
the wrong thing to the wrong fan.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
Uh yeah, I mean, like there's gonna be a fight
in stands, right, and it's a Dodger game.
Speaker 2 (04:40):
It's Dodger Padre game.
Speaker 1 (04:43):
I think it's more, you know, like look show Heo
Tani and Mookie Betts, but maybe mostly show heo Tony.
You know, can the Dodgers get into situation where they
have to pitch to him? And if they pitch to him,
does he come through? It's really good. I I wish
he was about more. And then of course, you know,
Bullpen's decide who wins these things more than anything else.
(05:05):
But I you know, he's got a seven hundred dollars contract.
He's I haven't heard anybody come up with any sort
of argument for anybody being a better player than shoe
Heyo Tani. He's the best baseball player we've ever seen.
What does he do in a winner take all situation?
I mean, Dan, am I making it too simple? I
know baseball isn't really played that way. I'm not sitting
(05:27):
here saying, you know, this is first take and it's
some hot take, and I'm like, show heyo.
Speaker 2 (05:31):
Tan, he's a choker if he doesn't come through.
Speaker 1 (05:33):
Like, I know, that's not what it's about, but I
do think to the lay person, it's kind of what
it is about.
Speaker 4 (05:40):
Yeah, and I think that to the late person, this
is the game that they're going to watch. To the
late person, they probably haven't watched the first four. But
it's a Friday night, it's the loan baseball game on
ton It's going to be on network television. It's going
to be that opportunity. And for people that weren't exposed
to show hey Otani throughout the country throughout the season.
I'm not saying they don't know who the biggest star
(06:01):
in baseball is, but when you just see highlights now,
when you're watching him in that playoff experience, yeah, this
is it. And it guess what if you win. If
you win tonight, you're dealing with the same thing coming
up in the next series and just maybe at a
higher level, especially if that would go to seven games.
Not to get too far ahead of ourselves, but there
is there is absolute drama built into tonight with baseball's
(06:25):
biggest star taking center.
Speaker 1 (06:28):
Stage and then the end this is like this is
TV Doug in that. Can we be honest? Baseball needs
Dodger Yankees. You know, I don't think anything the far
should take place, like strike zone should be the strike zone.
You know, again, there has to be a level of integrity.
(06:50):
But if we are truly honest with ourselves, baseball really
really really.
Speaker 2 (06:58):
Needs Yankees Dodge.
Speaker 1 (07:01):
Not just because it's East Coast, West Coast and two
historic rivals, historic teams, but then you also have Judge
and show Hey to go along with iconic stadiums or whatever,
like we just I mean, go back through the If
you're not a hardcore baseball fan, try and name the
(07:22):
teams that have been in the World Series the last
five years.
Speaker 2 (07:25):
Good luck with that.
Speaker 1 (07:28):
And I think baseball really really needs the Dodgers and
the Yankees. The Yankees came through last night. We'll see
if the Dodgers come through it.
Speaker 4 (07:36):
There is something that is so unique about doing things
in the World Series and doing it at the biggest,
biggest of stages. And it's funny because with Show Hey,
Show Hey was so good with the Angels and was
doing so many amazing things, we gave him a pass
(07:56):
that it's like, all right, this team can't figure it
out like you have this, And I think we kind
of did the same thing with Mike Trout if I'm
being correct and being like Trut's just amazing. They just
can't get it right. Around him. Then sometimes it turns
a little bit of why Mike Trout couldn't lead the
Angels to the playoffs. My point though, is is that
the bar is so high for these individual stars to
(08:18):
reach where we don't blame them. We do it in
every other sport where we put the blame on someone
after one bad game. NBA is probably the best example
of that, and it's very rarely do we give someone
a pass because of how good they have been in
understanding how good they have been. But this is show
Hay's opportunity now in the playoffs, and we've given him
(08:41):
a pass in terms of what went on with the
Angels because they wear a train wreck. Now we want
to see him come through and you know, whether it
be a clutch hit, whether it be something to get
things going. This is where you really also really add
to your see as a player. Doesn't have to be
(09:02):
every single postseason the boy you do it the first
one that you have with the with the Dodgers that
really gets things rolling.
Speaker 3 (09:10):
Yeah, have you ever have you guys been watching the
the way Fox has covered Otawani. I've never seen a
graphic that says this player is up in three batters
like you typically see a graphic for who is on
the hole and they say in three batters show hee
(09:31):
o Tani is up and then they have a graphic
yeah with him, a cartoon of him, never seen it ever,
And that's telling. I think that's speaking to like the
TV dug here and that you have people tuning in
for the very first time. And also you have these
international viewers that are only tuning in for his bats.
So we need to keep those viewers, you know, keep
(09:54):
those viewers in mind and tell tell them when Tony.
Speaker 4 (09:57):
Bats, isn't that the wasn't this? Isn't that? The secret
of PTI.
Speaker 2 (10:06):
Is that is the is the what's coming up in
the topics? Coming up next?
Speaker 3 (10:10):
Yeah? The menu?
Speaker 4 (10:11):
Yes, because you know if they're talking.
Speaker 1 (10:13):
Yeah, I mean I think the secret of PT I
think I think it is. It's one of the parts
of it. I mean the real thing is like you
have two guys that you know, there's they're not talking
and they're you know, it's Tony really makes that show.
Speaker 4 (10:25):
But yes, I understandly for me, Yeah, if you see
that your team is going to be talked about in
three topics, guess what you're waiting around for? Those three
topics we talked about it, teasing and radio the whole time,
when you're telling the audience what's coming up next so
they can stick around more.
Speaker 3 (10:42):
It looks like Freddie Freeman's on the line up tonight.
I don't know how useful he's going to be, but
he's going about third and by first after missing Game four,
so that'll help. That's good news for the Dodgers. Two
Japanese pictures going at it. Speaking of the international audience, Yeah,
Yamamoto and Darvish.
Speaker 1 (11:00):
And Darbish has been unbelievable in these games, especially unbelievable
against the Dodgers. Of course, Dodger fans will be like, yeah,
why wasn't he unbelievablehen he pitched for us?
Speaker 3 (11:07):
He's got Sholey's number two?
Speaker 1 (11:09):
Yeah, yeah, Darvish was was he the one who had
the now who had the weird pitch that never kind
of came to be?
Speaker 2 (11:22):
Was it him? Was the guy one who pitched for
the guy who pitched for the Yankees?
Speaker 3 (11:25):
No, it's a guy who pitched for the Red Sox, right,
Dice k Matsuzaki.
Speaker 2 (11:29):
Yeah, Ice? What was ice ca'se pitch?
Speaker 4 (11:31):
Though?
Speaker 3 (11:32):
It was like a disc pitch like a curveball that
spun like horizontally. It was supposed to take over the world,
and it never did.
Speaker 1 (11:42):
It did not take over the world. Worlds were not
taken over. I think that's that's a perfect Greace. So Jason,
your level of Okay, you're watching this at home?
Speaker 2 (11:51):
Are you going no?
Speaker 3 (11:53):
No, I'm definitely watching them from home. My in my
level of confidence is one out of ten, probably a
t and winning tonight. So I'll be on the group text.
You know, I go on the group text a lot.
I'll probably pull a Sam and have like a twenty
to one ratio where I'm common in all game long
and almost nobody comments. But look for me on the
(12:16):
group text and I'll be a few beers in.
Speaker 2 (12:21):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (12:23):
And then so what's what is huge game one that
you have very little confidence in? Are you wearing your
Dodger hat? Are you wearing a Dodger jersey?
Speaker 2 (12:33):
Like?
Speaker 1 (12:34):
Are there rules to are people allowed to talk? Is
there a certain thing you eat?
Speaker 3 (12:39):
Like?
Speaker 2 (12:40):
Your your level of Dodger fans? Sickness?
Speaker 1 (12:42):
And when I say sickness, I mean we're all kind
of messed up this way, right, See, Like why I
sat in this chair at game four, and I didn't
think they're going to So I'm gonna wear the same
thing as Game four, Like give me, give me the setup.
Speaker 3 (12:53):
No, I'm not I'm not that guy. I'm not the stereotype.
I'm not the we not stereotype. But what's uh, super
that guy?
Speaker 5 (13:02):
You're not that guy?
Speaker 3 (13:05):
Whatever, I'm whatever I'm at now, I'm where uncle were tonight.
Speaker 1 (13:09):
Well you're not wearing anything now, it's kind of uncomfortable.
Speaker 2 (13:12):
That was actually my way I spoke up on and
that was that was my way.
Speaker 1 (13:16):
Of saying like, hey, clothe yourself, Bud, clothe yourself, Bud.
Speaker 3 (13:23):
Sam really likes that drop. I don't know what.
Speaker 4 (13:25):
I really liked it. That was a perfect That was
that was great. I'm not that guy guy this this store,
the grocery store, and some team punk comes up to him.
Speaker 6 (13:34):
And so so Jason goes, I'm just not that guy,
and then I play.
Speaker 5 (13:37):
You're not that guy. I'll trust me, you're not that guy.
Speaker 4 (13:41):
And the fifty five year old guys about to pummel
this twenty year old kid.
Speaker 2 (13:46):
Oh not that guy.
Speaker 4 (13:51):
Such a great trip out of it.
Speaker 2 (13:53):
I loved it.
Speaker 4 (13:54):
That was great.
Speaker 2 (13:55):
Damn, what are you watching night.
Speaker 4 (13:57):
Well, I'll be at home and uh I love name
will be on I I don't know, but.
Speaker 2 (14:04):
Yeah, really yeah, why not?
Speaker 1 (14:08):
I mean there's there's one decent college football game on right,
Utah taking on Arizona State. Amazing it because you know
Lisa and and Brody like, what what is that?
Speaker 3 (14:19):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (14:19):
I like if if if if Brody wants to watch
something else, he does kind of have accept if it's
except that doesn't watch that.
Speaker 2 (14:28):
Yeah, CAYU does not ever get I'll tell you what.
Speaker 4 (14:31):
It would get phone consideration. There are times where I
don't even put it up on my phone, but it
would get phone consideration. But by no means am I
going to be sitting at the edge of my couch
biting my fingernails on who's going to win. But I'll
definitely keep tabs on it.
Speaker 2 (14:46):
Mmm.
Speaker 1 (14:47):
Uh Iowa, Sam, I'll be watching at home, and I
will be taking in that, uh that slate of college football.
Speaker 6 (14:54):
I mean, listen, there's two future opponents for IOWA playing
Northwestern playing at Maryland, and so you know I'll be
scoping that out un LV and Utah State. Eh, Utah
Arizona State.
Speaker 1 (15:06):
It's good You're not gonna watch UNLV and Utastin. I'm
not gonna watch that onere.
Speaker 4 (15:10):
I'm gonna have.
Speaker 1 (15:11):
It's guys saying and like, listen, guys say stuff all
the time that makes no sense, like unless you are
a degenerate give you're a degenerate gambler. You had money
on it, then okay buy it. Otherwise like, well, I've
never let any what I'll watch little football, No you're not.
Speaker 2 (15:23):
It's Dodgers, Padre.
Speaker 6 (15:25):
I'm going to have on a split screen of Dodgers
and then either Northwestern Maryland and or Utah Arizona State.
I love, I love Big ten football of college football.
Can I also say this like that it is? It
is an equation in my head of what I can
and can't watch. So already four thirty for US Saturday Night.
Told Lisa it's when the Buckeyes play four thirty.
Speaker 4 (15:48):
That's it. So there's there's four windows that I've already
locked up. If I wanted to watch another game on
a great slate of college football Saturday or work at
around the pumpkin patch, I'm going to try to lock
that in as well. I just don't know if it's
going to be the Texas game or what game it's
actually going to be, and then I got to put
a baseball game on top of it. Now I've commandeered
(16:08):
it for eleven or twelve hours, and it's it's a
lot more difficult than it was when I was single
than when I was single. It truly is makes sense.
You pick your battles, you pick your games, and.
Speaker 2 (16:22):
You can pick your friends and you pick your nose,
but you can never pick your friend.
Speaker 4 (16:24):
Yeah, I'll tell her, I said, listen, I need to
see this for work. I need to see what's happening
honey related. But the realistic nature is this, there's also
going to be a game on Sunday night that if
on Monday, we're not going to be talking about this game,
quesecially going to be talking about what happened between Mets
Dodgers or Mets Padres.
Speaker 1 (16:41):
Right that it's actually a brilliant point. This is going
to be a game which I think a lot of
people will watch that are like real sports fans watch.
I could be wrong, especially West Coast, but it will
essentially disappear into the ether. And when I say ether,
the ether of sports talk like it doesn't exist any anymore.
Because Saturday becomes college football. Plus you got the other
(17:02):
baseball playoffs, then you got the NFL, and you got
more baseball playoffs, right, and you'll have Game one already
in you know, in the bank, and you're like, man,
do you remember that? And that's what I brought up.
We talked about this on the pod, Jason, You, me
and Matt Holliday. We talked about I think it was
Game five. I think it was Game five, maybe a
(17:22):
Game four between the Cardinals and I want to say
the Phillies, Roy Holliday versus.
Speaker 2 (17:30):
Uh which which was the Cardinals pitcher?
Speaker 1 (17:33):
It was Adam Wainwright and I think Carpenter it was.
It was Carpenter, Yeah, Carpenter. And then remember they tore
his close off afterwards. I think he pitched like a
one hitter something crazy. Anyway, that game, same thing. If
you watched it, you were like, that's amazing. Otherwise it
disappeared in the ether because it was like on a Friday,
it was, you know, this same series, and all anybody
(17:55):
cared about was the the DS.
Speaker 3 (18:00):
A couple of things. Yeah, dice k Matsuzaka through the gyro.
Speaker 2 (18:05):
Ball, gyro ball.
Speaker 3 (18:06):
There you go, and we never heard about it again.
Speaker 6 (18:09):
Please please refer to him by his full name, Andrew
dice K.
Speaker 3 (18:12):
Andrew dice K, Matsuzaka good one.
Speaker 4 (18:15):
Hey, Sam totally erased the drop with that, Like it
completely negated how good that drop was.
Speaker 3 (18:24):
Wait, give me the you're not that guy?
Speaker 4 (18:25):
How Yeah?
Speaker 6 (18:27):
And so I can't tell a cheesy joke. Five minutes
later and it's canceled out.
Speaker 1 (18:31):
You're you're doing so well with the drop and then
and pretty and then you basically did a dad joke.
Speaker 6 (18:37):
Yeah, well, I'm everything but the dad. You know, you know,
I got the belly, I got the humor, and.
Speaker 2 (18:45):
You're from the Midwest. There you go, all that stuff.
Speaker 4 (18:47):
After football, NYPD Blue Marathon I France, let's go.
Speaker 1 (18:53):
Man, I haven't seen NYPD Blue a long time. I
have a box set somewhere.
Speaker 6 (18:58):
That show, Oh Great and homicide Life on the Streets.
She loved that show too.
Speaker 7 (19:03):

gonna get the gambler in a bit, but right now
(19:49):
we're gonna welcome in Jared Smith. Of course, Jared is

that's what he does. He's an expert in gambling and
tells us no, no, no, no, don't do that. You

Speaker 2 (20:08):

Speaker 1 (20:09):
Listen live on our Fox Sports Radio Phillis or on
the iHeartRadio app presented by Bett mg M. All right,
let's let's not bury the lead. I think rightfully?
Speaker 2 (20:20):
So.
Speaker 1 (20:22):
Dan Byer is super excited about Ohio State and Oregon,
which is a conference matchup this year.
Speaker 2 (20:28):
Who would have thought? Right? Who would have thought?
Speaker 1 (20:30):
But anyway, the Ducks are at home in Austin Stadium.
They're a three point dog to the Buckeyes. The total
is fifty four what do you think, Jared.
Speaker 8 (20:39):
Yeah, early in the week, Doug, we definitely saw some
money come in on Oregon and it pushed this number
down to three, and I think now is where the
Ohio State money will likely step in.
Speaker 5 (20:49):
Although it is worth.
Speaker 8 (20:51):
Noting that road teams in the Big Ten that have
gone across multiple time zones just one and eight this year.
The only win was Indiana at UCLA and USC's law
twice in that spot, going to Michigan, going to Minnesota.
Speaker 5 (21:03):
So it's just we don't really know.
Speaker 8 (21:05):
What these teams are because neither team has played a
game with a line less than seventeen all year. So
all these games have been big favorites for the Ducks
and the Buckeyes, and I'm interested to really see who
steps up for Ohio State's offense.
Speaker 5 (21:19):
How much do you trust Will Howard?
Speaker 8 (21:21):
Six big time throws, six turnover worthy throws this season,
and he hasn't really played in a high leverage game
since last year with k State, when he threw ten
interceptions in just sixteen touchdown passes. So I'm very concerned
with Will Howard going on the road in a tough environment. Now,
he's got arguably the best supported Gast around him and
Mechabuka Jeremiah Smith probably the best one two punch of
(21:41):
receiver in the country. They have fifty three of the
teams one hundred and eight receptions. Both their top twelve
in the nation in yards per route run among eligible receivers.
Henderson and Judkins probably the best one two bunch in
the country at running back. Both guys top thirty five
and EPA parush. The High State O line is solid,
the Oregon D line is solid, So I think you
get kind of a stalemate there.
Speaker 5 (22:02):
The question and the big matchup for me comes on
the other side.
Speaker 8 (22:05):
Really, this Oregon offense, most notably the offensive line, which
was much maligned early in the season. They allowed seven
sacks in their first two games to Boise and Idaho.
Speaker 5 (22:13):
They've been better lately.
Speaker 8 (22:15):
No sacks in the last three games to Michigan State
and UCLA and Oregon State.
Speaker 5 (22:19):
But let's be honest, that's not Ohio State.
Speaker 8 (22:21):
Jim Knowles is an elite, maybe the best defensive coordinator
in the country, and they shut down a good Iowa
O line last week. I mean just made I would
say average, maybe slightly above average. Iowa offensive line look
very bad four sacks, just two hundred and twenty five
total yards allowed. You have Hamilton Sawyer, Tyler Williams. I
think Ohio State's defense controls tempo and we might be
(22:44):
looking back at this game saying, wow, we were only
laying a field goal with Ohio State against Oregon. I
do think the Buckeys are the right side of this one,
especially at that key number of three.
Speaker 1 (22:52):
All right, speaking of new big ten, Penn State comes
out to southern California. It takes on the men of Troy,
another home dog three and a half points totals fifteen
and a half.
Speaker 4 (23:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (23:03):
USC that lost last week to Minnesota Wolf up seven.
It didn't really throw it well, despite the fact that
you know he had the weather there in Minnesota. They
he should be better weather at the Rose Bowl this week,
but you never know.
Speaker 5 (23:17):
The win could always play a factor. They're keep an
eye on that.
Speaker 8 (23:20):
This is, of course, a rematch of one of my
favorite games. I'm a Penn State of lumfull disclosure, it
wasn't a great result, but that twenty sixteen Rose Bowl
Sam Darnold in Saquon Barkley. That game featured thirty five
players that got at least one snap in an NFL game,
So it's kind of this rehash of Great Rose Bowls.
Speaker 2 (23:39):
In the past.
Speaker 8 (23:40):
We've seen Penn State and USC play each other in
that game several times actually over the last couple of decades.
Lincoln Riley, though not good in this spot, lost his
past four games against eightp Top five opponents. He's allowed
forty five points or more in all of those games.
So how does that USC defense, which has been better
this year allowing about seventeen points per game less hundred
(24:00):
yards per game less than last year. But they couldn't
get off the field against Minnesota or Michigan, despite the
fact that both of those teams are just run run,
like the entire stadium. New Minnesota was running it on
that last drive last week and USC still couldn't stop it.
Guess what Penn State wants to do. They should get
Nicholas Singleton back. We know Alan is an absolute rock star.
(24:21):
I do like this Penn State offense more than last year,
drew aller's yards per attempt, big improvement, but it still
hasn't attempted more than twenty four passes in any game
this year, so they haven't really given alar the keys
to the castle. Even though Colton Nicky and this offensive
scheme I think is better for USC's offense. I think
a lot of it was the weather last week. The
(24:43):
Penn State defense is not as good as last season.
I think they're good, but they're not as good as
last year. The offensive line for USC is the big problem.
You've got Branch, You've got Lane, you've got Hudson, the receivers.
If the O line can hold up, I think those
receivers can caused some problems for this Penn State secondary,
but I don't know if the old line can hold up.
(25:04):
I think the matchup to watch here again, that USC
offensive line. I think Penn State has a little bit
of an edge there and I think they'll control tempo.
I think Penn State goes into the rose Bone gets
a win.
Speaker 1 (25:12):
All right, let's go to the sec ole Miss take
it on LSU Ole Miss coming off a loss, uh
taking on an LSU team who I think people thought,
all right, well, you lose that early one, and you
know they'll bounce back. But you know every walks out
of this one's gonna have their second loss of the year.
And there's still a lot of beat on the bone
(25:32):
for both teams. LSU at home, it's gonna be at
night under the lights Tiger Stadium.
Speaker 2 (25:37):
Three and a half point dog sixty two is the total.
Speaker 8 (25:41):
Yeah, always an interesting night game at Death Valley always
you know, a lot of volatility there. I think the
situational spot this might be the worst situational spot of
the week in any game, especially being a marquee game.
LSU is well rested, they're off the by Ole Miss
is playing their third straight tough opponent. They lost the
Kentucky two weeks ago as a fifteen point favorite, beat
(26:02):
South Carolina last week covered. But this the market just
kind of hates LSU. They've been fading LSU all year.
We did see some money come in on Ole Miss,
took it off of that key number of three, and
now we're sitting three and a half. I think the
total is what we focus on here, though, Doug, because
the narrative surrounding lan Kiff in his offense, offense, offense,
high flying. Well, guess what in the last four seasons,
they're twenty six and eleven to the under against FBS
(26:25):
teams five and one to the under this season, and
when that total is elevated, which it is. This week
sixty two were higher fourteen and five to the under,
and I think a lot of it is Oh last
year these teams played, it was fifty five forty nine.
Speaker 5 (26:37):
Yeah, they had Jane Daniels and they had Brian Thomas
and Malik Naghbors.
Speaker 8 (26:40):
Like just a very different receiving group for LSU this season.
And on the Old Miss offensive side, Trey Harris is
probably the best receiver, if not one of the best
receivers in the country. Got hurt last week, missed the
second half. Old Miss scored three points without him. I
think what we heard from Brian Kelly this week, what's
the best way to slow down the old offense? Just
(27:01):
keep the ball, which means run the ball with Kay
Durham in a very good LSU offensive line, play keep away,
run the clock, and try to control those explosive plays.
Should be a little bit easier if Harris can't go.
I think under sixty two and a half is the
best bet. My favorite player of the week in a
really good bet. Saw some really sharp groups go under
this total.
Speaker 1 (27:20):
Earlier this week, OU Texas Red River rivalry now in
the SEC Texas A fourteen and a half point favorite.
Yours is back at quarterback for Texas, oh You starting
a freshman, totals forty nine, big down.
Speaker 8 (27:35):
There's some nuance here, I think, because the game gets
pushed back. Usually it's the first game off the board, right,
it's the noon eastern eleven AM central kick.
Speaker 5 (27:42):
Now we're pushing it back. It's an SEC game now,
which is just weird in itself.
Speaker 8 (27:47):
It's the thirteenth time that one of these teams will
be ranked number one in this meeting, which is the
third most for any matchup USC notreed Am o You
Nebraska the only two matchups that have had more meetings
or one of the teams was ranked first overall.
Speaker 5 (28:03):
And how about this.
Speaker 8 (28:03):
Ohu's one for the last five, but they've been outscored
because of that forty nine to Zhering game a couple
of years ago, and Texas a double digit vavite for
the first time since so five in this rivalry, which
was also the year they won the national title with
Vince Young. I think if you look at Oklahoma's defense,
which is obviously the strength of the team, it might
not be as big of a strength as we think,
because as I kind of expected going through this now
(28:24):
gauntlet schedule, we're starting to wear down. Auburn moved it
on them last week over seven yards per play, eleven
percent explosive play rate. Peyton Thorn threw for over three
hundred yards with no picks. I mean to me, that
is like red flag. If Peyton Thorn can chew up
this defense for over three hundred yards, I think guys
like quinn Ewers, or even if it is arch Manning,
(28:45):
if Viewers isn't effective, can absolutely cause some havoc here
at this Texas offense.
Speaker 5 (28:50):
Top ten and explosive.
Speaker 8 (28:51):
Plays, that's what they do well, Wingo, Bond and Golden
all above average receiving grades. This is an elite Texas
offense and they have elite skill position players, and Oklahoma
is going to have to defend every blade of grass.
Speaker 5 (29:03):
The other side is not as sexy.
Speaker 2 (29:05):
Of a matchup.
Speaker 8 (29:06):
Oklahoma is still without their best receiver, Don Burks. They've
got cluster injuries all over the skill position groups.
Speaker 5 (29:12):
Their on line has issues.
Speaker 8 (29:13):
They might have found a little bit of a spark
with the quarterback Michael Hawkins, but he's still a freshman
playing in his first Red River game, So really, what
is their path to success. They were out gained against Houston,
they were bodied by Tennessee Phony win against Tulane. It
is fair to question who Texas defense is. Played their
best wins against Michigan. Who's Michigan right now? Especially offensively.
They only led by eight in the third quarter on
(29:34):
their home field against Mississippi State, and the Bulldogs might
be the worst team, one of the worst teams in
the country, definitely in the SEC. So it's fair to
question that Texas schedule. But man, I just don't see
a path to success for this ocala home game. That's
why we're seeing money on Texas today. I think Texas wins.
I think they win.

our Fox Sports Radio betting Analyst starts at nine am
Eastern Time. Listening on Fox Sports Radio or the iHeartRadio
presented by bet MGM K State. Hey, K State a
(30:23):
team who you know they're coming off a bye, so
too is Colorado. Colorado at home fresh out that Central
Florida win. K State's at three and a half point
favorite at Colorado fifty five and a half is the total.
Speaker 8 (30:38):
Yeah, K State hasn't done well in the road favorite
role either, and you have a good finger on the
pulls with this stuff Colorado. I mean, I was a
ball win right there, two touchdown dog at UCF and
we haven't heard much right going into the by. It's
been kind of quiet in Buffalo world. Maybe things will
heat up again heading into this game. But this is
a very obvious handicap. Kansas State one to run the ball.
(31:00):
That's what they do, That's what they want to do.
Colorado's actually been surprisingly good in the explosive play.
Speaker 5 (31:07):
Category this year.
Speaker 8 (31:08):
On defense, they have yet to allow a one hundred
yard receiver or runner, something they did in eleven of
twelve games last year. So again we've seen good adjustments,
especially in the second half by the DC Robert Livingston
Avery Johnson on the road is a bit of a
question mark. I like the run game Giddins and Johnson,
the quarterback running back duo. It's one of the best
in the country in that regard. The other side of
(31:29):
the ball, I think Colorado's got an edgier defensive or
excuse me, offensively against that Kansas State defense. They're running
it much better this year and they're much more balanced,
and I think that takes the level that Shoud or
Sanders can bring this offense to, and it just elevates it.
He's still holding it on too long and he's taking
too many sacks. But Kansas State struggles to get pressured,
they struggle to defend in the secondary, and they've had
(31:51):
just three sacks in their last three games. They're passing
defense allowed three to sixty four against Oklahoma State, three
forty two against the Tulane freshman mensa.
Speaker 5 (31:59):
I feel like Sanders is better than.
Speaker 8 (32:01):
Those two guys in This Colorado offense is a lot
more explosive than that. I think it's the Colorado offense
with a couple of timely stops at home, gets the
job done. And I'll tell you what, if Colorado wins
this game is a dog. They might not be a
dog for the rest of the season. And those Travis
Hunter Heisman tickets will gain significant value.
Speaker 1 (32:20):
I think Colorado wins straight up. Jared Smith, Jared, thanks
so much for joining us on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 4 (32:25):
Good luck this weekend.

Let's get to the Gambler. Every Friday, We'll give you
(33:11):
one pick, just one you can make some money on.
I will start with the Jays two team parlay.
Speaker 3 (33:23):
Thank you, Jason. I'll take it from here. Only do
I got a dust Buckler for you today. Dust Buckler,
you speak that up.
Speaker 2 (33:38):
We do not have that much time, Jason.
Speaker 3 (33:40):
I need you to run to the betting window of
everybody because you're gonna have to put these down quickly.
Though the two games of the window early window. Tonight,
u nl V plays Utah State. Some advice take u
nl V giving nineteen points. That's the first part of
the Jay's two team parlay swallow. Second, I need I
(34:04):
need you it's UNOVV. Okay, and I need you to
parrot with another team. Parrot with Northwestern. They're getting ten
and a half points in Maryland. It's a it's a
sham ten and a half points of Maryland. And just
a memo to Maryland fans Boomersiasin is not walking through
that door tonight, Northwestern to UNOV and thank me Monday.
Speaker 2 (34:31):
Okay, dann byer Fellas.
Speaker 4 (34:34):
We are five for five on the Gamblers so far
this football season. We are five for five. Let's try
to keep it perfect. If it doesn't happen this week,
I'm blaming I'm blaming it on the international flavor of
this Jars Bears your London game in Week six. I
think the Bears are really rounding in the form. Give
(34:56):
me the Chicago Bears, who right now are just a
slight one point favorite Bears the top the Jaguars. With that,
you know we'll go against the spread. Why not, right
Mary gonna do tie Maris sake the Bears minus one
against Jacksonville Ma.
Speaker 2 (35:13):
Maers.
Speaker 1 (35:14):
Okay, big Apple Sam.
Speaker 6 (35:17):
All right, time for my crappy pick college football. You
know where we're going with this. I I you what
field goal favorite over Washington. It's gonna be very early
in the morning. It's gonna be nine am when the
game kicks off here. So those Washington Huskies still fat
off that fat and happy off that win over Michigan
last week, They're gonna be all groggy and they wander
(35:39):
into the pink locker rooms not knowing what hit him.
Give me, I wou to cover that three points over.
Speaker 2 (35:44):
Washington, Washington, Washington.
Speaker 1 (35:48):
Uh, okay, this one's pretty simple for me. You guys know,
I haven't been fighting with the Colorado Act, but is
a bad matchup for kate k State. They don't pressure
the passer, they're bad in their beat defensive backfield. They're
on the road in altitude, and Colorado is a home.
Speaker 2 (36:03):
Dog on the lights late in Boulder.
Speaker 1 (36:06):
You know it's crazy, Pack twelve on the lights only
doubts the Big twelve slash Big eight.
Speaker 3 (36:11):
Gimme see you the buffalo, no wind? Whoa boy say it?
Speaker 1 (36:19):
Run, have a great weekend, everybody. Oh money for Dan Biden,
Jason Stewart and Manhattan born Manhattan born.
Speaker 2 (36:32):
Uh, it's a big apple. Sam. I'm merely Doug.
Speaker 1 (36:37):
How much group texting is there going to be with
Jason Stewart win or lose with him talking trash and
Sam will respond.
Speaker 4 (36:44):
Sam will respond, I don't know if Jason will take
kindly to it, but Sam will re well, nice guy
and Jason.
Speaker 1 (36:52):
Jason, he set this up so either way he wins, right,
he comes across as a cynic. So if they lose,
he's like, see, I told you this was bound to
have fire everybody. And if they win, it's see, this
is what I did Game four. I'm the reason that
they're going to be successful. Just like I talk trash
on on on Mookie Bets mooki Bets series.
Speaker 4 (37:12):
I don't think he's ever taking credit for a win. Well,
he did no for mookie Bets.
Speaker 2 (37:18):
He took your extra.
Speaker 1 (37:19):
Mookie Bets because he said mookie Bets a choker with
Matt Holliday on the podcast as well as on on
social media, and then mookie Bets.
Speaker 2 (37:27):
You know it's the two run home run. Suddenly it's
all because of Jason Sewart.
Speaker 4 (37:31):
As I said, if the Dodgers win, Jason will complain
about the parade.
Speaker 1 (37:34):
Route or the setup of days in the NLCS. Dodgers
win tonight, Jason's not happy, but he's never happy. It'
stuck allib Show
