Sham Sharania from Stadium Sports reports that Kevin Durant is
(01:31):
unlikely to play in Game one. The team has actually
released info reiterating that, or iterating it if they think
it came out first and that's where he got it from.
But if you look at it, it also says that
DeMarcus Cousins is expected to play in the NBA Finals,
So help is on the way for the Warriors, but
(01:52):
it will likely not arrive in the form of Kevin
Durant in Game one. Also, the l NBA teams are
out and Kevin Rant is not on the first team
All NBA team. It also ends a run of eleven
consecutive years where Lebron James was first Team All NBA. Obviously,
his contracted season because of injuries led to him only
(02:13):
being third Team All NBA. I don't think he was snubbed.
I think Brad Beal, who had an outstanding year was
snub played. I think all but one game for the
Wizards put up ridiculous numbers, and because the Wizards weren't good,
he received no love. Clay Thompson also didn't get all
NBA love. That hurts Clay Thompson. He cannot be a
super Max player because of it. Well we'll explain that.
(02:36):
But uh in terms of dollars and cents, I think
it's like a fifty million dollar difference over the lifetime
of his new contract that he can sign this offseason.
So fascinating stuff going on. Do you like James Bond movies?
I feel like the Houston Rockets are a James Bond movie.
(02:58):
This from Shamps Sharani of The Athletic. There was something
of a clash of styles brewing between the Rockets this season,
with members of the team like Chris Paul having spirited
discussions with Mike D'Antoni about the offense, pushing for a
more movement league. Sources told The Athletic the type of
fast paced, ball moving offense is what D'Antoni thrived with
(03:19):
it with in Phoenix, and the two time Coach of
the Year credits uh to to to the two time
Coach of the Year's credit, He's adapted it in Houston
to allow James Harden to succeed in his game. Shrinan
later added, but Hardened Paul it's intense moments with one
another throughout the game throughout game six, culminating in a
(03:40):
verbal back and forth post game that went in the
locker room. Sources with knowledge of the situation told The
Athletic that a verbal exchange happened between Harden and Paul
regarding bald distribution through game six. By the time the
remainder of the remainder of the locker room was ready
to talk, Paul and Harden had gone are separate ways,
(04:01):
Chris Paul swiftly making his way to the post game podium,
and the Rockets dispensed with exit interviews this year, so
the media hasn't been able to ask Paul or Hardened
about the disappointment. I like James Bond movies, but I've
seen enough of them to know this is generally the
way it works. Right. Starts with a scene of incredible
(04:26):
action where someone who we perceived to be James Bond
is met with a near death experience and somehow he
overcomes that near death experience. There are car explosions, there
are sirens, there are guns. Sometimes there are knives, and
(04:49):
there's definitely hand to hand combat. And at the end
of the first scene there's usually James Bond standing somewhat
alive with a with a woman. Then you start to
get some backstory. Bond gets contacted by his bosses. There's
(05:11):
some sort of new gadgets that Q gives him, an
exploding car, a knife that actually looks like a credit card,
an explosive device where you only have to push one
cuff link. Come on, we've all seen enough James Bond movies.
You know those cool gadgets are even better than the
stuff that you can buy Brookstone. Can't buy the Brookstone
(05:32):
because I think Brookstone has gone out of business, but
you know what I'm talking about. Then there's investigation, there's
a foreign land. There's more fighting, more shooting, more knives,
more death, but not the death of Double O seven.
(05:52):
And at the end, the good guy Double O seven
wins and the bad guy usually dies. Oh yeah, By
the way, the final scene is always James Bond with
a beautiful woman. Many times the former woman that was
somehow involved with the bad guy and yet I think
(06:12):
Daniel Craig's on account for one more. If it comes
out when you go see it, hell to the hey,
you're gonna all right, you know how it ends. It's
like Rocky SloMo Rouckle pulls. Is what out? I mean?
You mean to tell me the Rockets weren't predictable. They
have all the makings of a disappointing, really exciting, really
(06:36):
expensive NBA team. You got a brilliant mastermind in Darryl Morey,
who surrounds himself with some of the best and brightest thinkers,
both from an outside of the basketball world. He hires
a renowned offensive coach who's never won anything in the
States of any sort of importance, but he's been unbelievable
(07:01):
regular season coach and been so close before in the postseason.
And his style is completely and totally usually with exception
of with the Rockets, likable and watchable. You mix in
James Harden, who's great on offense but has to have
the ball constantly, plays very little defense, but it's such
an amazing talent that he gets a past during much
of the regular season, but he too has never won anything.
(07:25):
Pair him with Chris Paul who's in the in the
process of being over the hill, who usually gets hurt,
who often challenges teammates, and even when he's right, they
fight him towards his challenges and it ends up leaving
with a lot of hurt feelings. And then you look
(07:47):
at the storylines in the last two years. They're put
together to take down one team, the Golden State Warriors,
and what failed them Chris Paul's health. How could we
ever have seen that coming? And the three point shot
where them is twenty seven consecutive three's in row. Oh yeah,
by the way, supposed home court advantage, which doesn't actually
(08:08):
exist in Houston, because if you've been watching over the
last half decade, they always lose their last game at home.
Fast forward to this season. Last forward to this season,
and now Paul has become more aligned, at least in theory.
(08:28):
With this, James Harden dominates the ball. I just stand
there and watch him go one on one and hope
the ball comes my way. Knowing that it won't work
out long term. They tried to add Carmelo that last
a month. They get all the way to the playoffs
and face the Warriors, and here's the only plot twist.
(08:49):
This year, it's the Warriors who lose a player actually
down to DeMarcus Cousins was also out, but Kevin Durant
out from the midpoint essentially of Game five and all
of games and they still couldn't get it done. And shocker,
Chris Paul has some probably not that nice things to
say about James Harden dominating the ball. And even though
(09:11):
we all know that Chris Paul is in fact right,
good luck convincing James Harden to do anything other than
what he's been able to win an m v P
Award doing. Stop me if you heard this before, but
a James hardened team, Stop me if you heard this before,
but a Chris Paul team starting if you're this Moore,
but a Mike D'Antoni team came up just short in
(09:32):
the playoffs. Oh yeah, and analytics great in a large
sample size of a regular season, but like the Oakland
as so many times before them, comes up short in
the playoffs. And now they hate each other. And oh yeah,
by the way, in addition to not liking each other,
(09:53):
not agreeing in terms of styles that allow them to
be successful, you have Chris Paul under contract for the
worst three years likely of his career, and James Harden
under a super max deal, and you're so stuck in
cap hell that the only way in which you could
possibly get rid of, say Chris Paul, would be to
take on two or more bad contracts, because you're giving
(10:14):
away a terrible Albert pool Holes like contract. The Dynasty
that Never was was completely in totally predictable, much like
a James Bond movie, And much like a James Bond movie,
I'm here for I'll go watch it. I'll buy the popcorn,
which is overpriced, I'll sit in etch comfy seats, and
(10:34):
I'll enjoy the hell out of it. I think I've
seen every James Bond movie two times over, just like
I've seen every Houston Rockets type of team two times over.
And this is the way it ends poorly? All Right,
we'll catch up with Chris Haynes k D won't play
game one we're hearing of the NBA Finals? Will he
(10:55):
play at all in the NBA Finals? How motivated by
not making first team on b A is k D
to leave to get more fame? Plus? What does the
thing happens tonight Toronto Milwaukee Game five? What feels like
the decider in this series in Milwaukee, will catch up

Y'allhoo Sports Fall on Twitter at Chris B. Haynes. Check
out his post up with Chris Haynes podcast. NEX. Week's
guest is ice Cube, who messed around and dropt a
(12:46):
triple double course founder of the Big Three? Uh. Do
you believe that there is added tension between harden And
and Chris Paul over style of play at it? I
don't know, but I'll say this is that. I mean,
it's it's it's clearly believable if you look at the
way the office is moved or or I should say
(13:08):
not move, I mean with the way James are you know,
pounds the ball for about eighteen or seconds, and you
look at Chris Paul, who's used to having the ball
in his hands making most of the plays, and you
can see how they they would be conflict, especially in
the playoff series of that mannitude that gets to go
to State Wars and which they wanted that match up
(13:29):
four years and they felt like they were the better team.
So you can see how things will escalate and get
to a point of, you know, a bickering between the two.
So it's it's clearly believable. But uh, you know, it's
not that it's not much of a shot. Is there
anything they can do other than hey, you guys gotta
work it out, right, Like they can't move. I don't
(13:50):
know how you would move Chris Paul. You're not gonna
move James Harden. You can't. I mean, you can't move
any of those guys. I mean Chris Paul is still
he's still a great player in this league. But people
will look at that contract can say it's unmovable. So
this is a situation where they just gotta work work
herself out. I mean, we've seen players get into it
with one another before. I mean, that's that's not a shot.
(14:11):
So I don't know if I don't know if this
is anything that's going to, you know, extending to the
off season where the you know, where they're still that odd.
I think it was a competitive playoff match there was
a lot there were there were there we was, there
was a lot um righting on that series. They really
thought they had a chance to advance and the ultimately
get to the finals. And so I think I think
(14:33):
it was clearly that Doug Gottlieb show here on Fox
Sports Radio. Chris Haynes is our guest from Yahoo Sports.
He is their senior NBA insider. Let's get to the
other news today, which is Kevin Durant unlikely to play
in Game one of the NBA Finals. Uh. The Warriors
released a statement that that reiterated that as well as
the idea that DeMarcus Cousins should play in the NBA Finals.
(14:55):
Let first, let's start with Durant. Just how bad is
this cash train? First he went from, oh, it's in
a key at least two. Now it's a cap strain too.
Now you know, you can talk about being out three
or four weeks. I think I think right now the
Wars are being very cautious and how they bring him back,
and they don't want to rush, They don't want to
(15:16):
you know, him to readins it again. And I feel
like they, you know, they feel like obviously they have
time on their side, and what I mean by that
Obviously they had nine days off, you know, going into
the final before the final starts, and then just the
way they're playing so well too, it's like why Russian
and so I you know, I expect both of those
guys to return during the finals. You know, the war
is almost fact. We stated that it wouldn't be game
(15:40):
one for the fighter of the players, and so they
expect them back. And that's I think that's why the
wars feel like they have the luxury right now to
give him all the time as necessary for them to
get back and not risk being reinjured. Who would they
rather play? I think they would rather play Milwaukee? Why
uh Um? I think, um, Well, first of all, you know,
(16:03):
nobody likes going in the customs. You know, that's that's
that's just that, that's you know, you you asked me personally,
I'd rather go to Milwaukee, even though the city of
Toronto was beautiful, but it's it's about an hour process
getting through customs. And NBA players they don't skip that,
they can't skip that. They go through the same I
remember one time I was leaving Toronto going through customs
(16:23):
the same like the same strenuous search, pat down and
everything that goes on with it. The Raptors were like
five ft away going through the same thing and so.
But but aside from that, just basketball wise, and I think, um,
I think they look at maybe look at Milwaukee is
being more predictable. Obviously, if you can stop uh giannice
(16:46):
from penetrating um getting from A to B, I think
you're gonna have a lot more success with Milwaukee, as
is Toronto when they're playing well, they have a bunch
of a bunch of different weapons, and you know, I
think that's what they were any tours. What about Milwaukee,
I mean, Janice suddenly looks human. Obviously they didn't make shots,
but Janice's inability to make free throws and make jump
(17:10):
shots has kind of reappeared. Is that just playing on
the road or do you think suddenly now it's in
his head. No, I think I think what it really is, Doug,
I think it's just playing in the postseason, you know.
And that that's why I'm a proponent of, you know,
end of the season awards like being being us being
able to uh tally up playoff performance as well, because
(17:33):
you know, in the regular season, teams do not game
playing for the other opponents. During the regular season, there's
very much there's very little video being watched the other
team for the most part, especially good teams. They're worrying
about their sales, they're focused on themselves, they're trying to
run things. You know, you're not game planning and scheming
(17:53):
for the teams doing a regular season. And so, yeah,
this is dominant is as he is. You know, he's
able to get to point a to point and be
and and and and just dominating fashion. But in the playoffs,
when they're schemes, when they're going to build a wall
around you and force you to make jump shots, which
you know, that's the weakest part of his game. And
(18:14):
that's where I'm not gonna say he's being exposed, but
that's where you can kind of limit his effectiveness. And
that's when it really matters. You know, it's easy to
go out there and play the playgainst the Phoenix Suns,
Memphis Grizzlies, you know, Charlotte Hornets. It is easy to
go to play against them and put up numbers. But
when teams are game playing and scheming for you and
taking away your true dominant uh aspect of your game.
(18:39):
Then that's that's that's when you see you know who
who's really real. And you know, don't get me wrong,
I'm not saying he's not real, but I'm saying there's
ways of limiting him right now because he lacks a
consistent jump shot. And I think that's just what's happening
with him right now. I think it's completely accurate everything
you just said. It was a great breakdown. Chris Haines
joining us on the Dug Gotlip Show on Fox Sports
Radio k D came pretty hard at Chris Broussard. When
(19:02):
Chris Broussard, you know, uh, he was trying to support
this this idea that NBA players are telling him, you
kind of gotta put an asterisk by his first two
championships because the team has played so well or so
successfully in his absence, and then it got and then
he basically called him a liar. You know that's what
(19:23):
Kap means, Uh, in terms of Broussard doesn't have his number.
Brossard is like, look d MS, I g d MS,
it doesn't matter. I mean we've communicated. What do you
make of Katie having these rabbit ears that he's gonna respond,
continue to respond as he said he would on social
media while he's not playing. Man, he watched that smoke.
(19:44):
Uh you know, I asked me. I spoke to him
a little bit, you know, this week, and uh, he said,
he's having fun. He's gonna go out there. He does it.
You know, there's people that say, man, why are you
doing that? K D? You know, Greace don't act like that.
He's just like, man, look I'm gonna do me. I'm
have fun. I'm young. Like to scroll on Twitter and
Instagram and see the comments I want to respond to,
(20:04):
like what why should that diminish who I am as
a player? Because that's the way I like to interact.
And so with all that being said, man, I I
don't know, you know, to to to the point that
Chris made about the you know, the astors, I don't
necessarily believe that, and I know he said that's what
players are telling him because I don't think it's It's
hard for me to believe that the Warriors win those
(20:25):
the last two finals without k D. You know, he's
single handedly got them the series. And you know, so
that's that's hard from that aspet. But look, they're playing well,
you know they're playing well. They reverted back to the
things that they were doing in prior to KB arriving,
and they're playing significant ball. But but I do have
a hard time thinking, like I'll say this, if Kady
(20:48):
was out for the entire finals, I would think, I
me personally, my eyes will be on Toronto or Milwaukee. Well,
Christian to your to your point, Portland's led that series.
That Portland's without Nurkicch and no one, no one actually
thought Portland was the second best team in the West, right,
they kind of overachieved him to get there in the playoffs.
(21:10):
But Portland led a hundred one minutes, trailed only eight
three minutes. Like that's crazy. They were up seventeen, eighteen,
and seventeen in the last three games and lost all
three of those games. So, I mean, even though it
was a sweep, and you know, to to the layman,
somebody didn't watch the games, doesn't feel that competitive. All
of those games were competitive except for Game one, when
(21:31):
they were still gas from from the game seven. Um,
and and that's without kept with Kevin Durant. They dominate
that series. I mean, everybody knows they're better. So I
my thing is I don't think I agree with you
that I disagree with Chris Broussard's comment and whoever whatever
NBA players said as much. But I disagree. I mean,
(21:53):
I I just don't understand how Kevin Durant thinks he's
gonna succeed in l A or in New York if
all he's not playing in Oakland. He invites all of this,
uh criticism and attention on social media. Well, that's a
totally different story though. You know, that's a that's a
whole aspect about him, and it's just what he likes
(22:14):
to do in his off time. It's gonna be tough,
you know, if he want to leave and go to
you know, go to one of those markets, if that
team is not succeeding. Yeah, I mean it's gonna it's
gonna be tough. But I'd be interested to see how
he handles that. You know what, With all that being said, Doug,
I think you know we talked about Portland. You mentioned them.
You know, they lucked up and they were smart. I
(22:35):
forgot the last regular season game they played, but they
I forgot what they played, but it had huge implications
on where they ended up in the brackets. Like if
they want to lost that game, they would have ended
up on the side with the with the Rockets and Warriors,
and they made sure they got on the bracket side
where they wouldn't have to face to go to State
(22:55):
until the finals. So they did that right, and they
handled that right. That was just a favorable bracket match
up and they you know, they weren't obviously wasn't the
second best team. I think we all agreed Houston and
go to state with a creaming of cropping the conference.
But they did what they had to do and it
was close throughout. But at the end of the day,
you know what what happened was with in Portland's, Uh,
(23:16):
there's Dame c J. And then there's a dramatic deep
in talent from there and so Portland's got swept in
a in A playoffs this year and last year because
both of those teams in New Orleans to go to
state just focused on Dame, took the ball out his hands,
double trapped him, and it made everybody else take those
shots and try to make them beat them. And that's
(23:37):
why that's why they lost because of the roster construction.
It wasn't because the Dames didn't perform well, he just
couldn't get open, so they kept double trapping the heads
on him. Um which which which is interesting because now
Damian Lillard is eligible for the Supermax and I get
to look take every penny that that's coming to you.
But you know, like E only didn't doomed to repeat this,
(24:01):
right if if you take all the money that they're
gonna give you, at some point, it's gonna come back
around to, hey, we don't have the cat money because
you took so much money that you had earned to
have the Supermax. You can say that, Doug, but you
can also look at the decisions that manage the made
over there with Neil lo Shay given more heartless the
money he gave him, gave and Myers Urret the money
(24:22):
gave him, giving Evan turn the money gave him, get
Adam Alan Crab the money he gave him. So that
hamps from the team more than anything. Like the player
who actually deserves to get paid, why should he have
to take less? You know, so at a certain point
you gotta look at the front office and see how
it makes and see how they're um, see how they're
sucking out this dope. Two players who didn't perform well
(24:46):
all this time, that that was the problem. That's the reason.
So when we're looking at why the Portland's Trailblazers, you know,
failed two years in the row. If you want to
call this season and failure, look at the game plan
of which these teams played Dame and then the reason
why they played him that way was because of the
roster construction in the way that the money was distributed
(25:07):
to players who didn't perform up to part. Yeah. I
also think that they don't have a Draymond, right Like,
let's just be honest that the Draymond like they have.
They have their own staff. I don't think he's as
good as Staff, but they have their own staff. They
have their own Clay not as good as Shooter, but
maybe a better playmaker than than Clay and c j Uh,
they have some other interesting parts. They do not have
(25:29):
a Draymond and Uh as much as everybody's talking about
Staff rightfully, So, he's been spectacular. I'm not sure people
are noticing. Draymond looks lighter, flying around, making shots and
has been a dominant player in his role. When Kevin
Durant has been out, He's been a difference maker. I
(25:49):
would consider him the m v P of that series. Man,
he's flying defensively, a lockdown defender, grabbing boards, pushing the
pace on make m miss makes m misrs. He was
phenomenal distributing the ball. He did it all. But to
your point about um, you know the Supermax and what
do they do? Does he take it? What do you
think about the others? And interview you right now, Charlotte
(26:13):
has a dilemma. Now you know so at least with
Portland's you know, that's the playoff team and you're gonna
give a Supermax to somebody who can leave it to
the playoffs. What do you do if you're Charlotte, somebody
who didn't make the playoffs. But now Kimba Walker was
elder before that Supermax. I mean you have to be.
The way the business works is you have to offer
the super Max. It's the only thing they can do.
I know, I know, I mean, I don't know what
(26:34):
this is. This is the problem with the It's it's
the double edged sword of the problem with the definite
defined number within the c b A is like, look,
lebron K d Staff, these guys, you you can't really
find a true value for them, Um, the other part,
and so they're gonna be played less than they should.
(26:55):
And then the converse happens for the guys that are
a notch below the Kimba's of the world, probably the
Damian Lillard's of the world, that you know, they're not worth,
you know, fifty million dollars a year, but you have
to pay it. You just have to. No one has
ever you know, to my knowledge, no one's ever gone like, yeah,
we're gonna pass on that for one of their one
(27:16):
of the Spurs would have done it, even if you know,
even though Kawhi Leonard sat out a year on them.
So that's the that's the crazy part about this thing.
Chris Haynes joining us on the Doug Gottlieb Show, You've
had we've had a week since the Magic Johnson thing.
I'm just wondering, you're now hearing more about the Clippers,
(27:36):
You're hearing more about the nets we had to hear
heard about, Um, a thawing of the frost between Kyrie
and Lebron. End of the day. How much does what
happen with the Lakers and Magic Johnson hurt the team
in free agency? I think it. I mean, I don't
(27:56):
know that it would be the overwhelming reason why some
player will say I'm not going there, But I think
they have to obviously consider all that and look into it.
And you know, look, there's been a lot of things
that's been going wrong with the Lakers over the last
couple of years. And then you just add that dynamic.
I mean, it's gonna be tough. Man. Look, the Lakers
(28:19):
were going to be behind the eight ball and acquired
the top period this summer anyways, anyways, and so now
you add all this mess is going on and and
is magic and last him or not magic? Is the
Lakers best recruiters period period? Is he going to be
in that role moving forward? In that role moving forward?
(28:42):
Do the people that you know, you know he was
speaking about, you know on first take the other day,
you know, are they gonna be able to handle that,
handle him being in the room. It's tough, man, They
got they got a lot to figure out, man, And
I know, and they expect Lebron to be there and
help him with who And so it's gonna be you're
(29:02):
behind a ball up and I'm it's gonna be interested
and see how they pull on this together, all right,
Mike Buddenheuler came out critical of Drake. I think a
lot of people have been like too much Drake. Uh,
Drake's now talking trash back at Mike budenholds her. But
no matter how much you like Drake or want him
to be involved, like the league has to has to
do something about this, Like, look, did you can't be
(29:23):
massaging the coach as a family. I imagine as crazy
as Steve Bomber is. Steve Bomber never leaves his general
seating area and he actually owns the Clippers. What do
you think about the whole Drake thing. Well, I'll say
it is Drake's seat is pretty close to where the
coach rome that so that that's that's just easy access
(29:43):
to him. You know, Bomber usually sits behind the basket,
so that's a long walk for him to go over
there and starting massaging on dr rivers. But I'll say this,
you know, Drake is he's animated. Me personally, I think
it's a little too much. But you have to remember,
like you know, as far as the Raptors are concerned,
you know, that was one of the reasons why they
made Drake in ambassador of the team, you know, because
(30:05):
Toronto has a hard time bringing in free agents and
they have a hard time retaining their own free agents.
And so they thought, you know, if they felt like Drake,
somebody's hip cool appeals to the millennials, you know, can
just bring a hip this coolness, and he's cool with
most of the star players in the league. And so
for them, they like that and they gets them attention.
And I guess TV ratings maybe maybe TV stations are
(30:28):
you know, hey, let's pick up a couple more Raptors
games and see what Drake is gonna do, you know.
So I for them, they love it. But if I'm
the league, I don't know. I don't know how how
we handled that. I don't know if they have to
take a stern stance on you know, either way. But
for me, personally, I think it's just too much. The
best thing, give me the best thing, ice cube told
you that you didn't know, well, and check this out.
(30:50):
So the best thing ice Q told me what the optate,
you know, because I was just more interested in it,
you know, Friday and the iconic movie us part of
the part of Out of Our Our Childhood. I asked them, like,
who who were some of the cast members who almost
didn't make the show? Like, because you know most of
the people on the show, we deemed them as their
(31:12):
household names. Now you know he told me Smokey you
know who ran away with the show stolen show with
his personality and comedic bullish. Chris Tucker was supposed to
be DJ Pooh, which Dj poo is red red is
the one where Deepo snaps to chain away. So he
was supposed to play Smokey and the movie the movie
(31:35):
company said no, we needed a more experienced comedic who
experienced acting in that role. So can you imagine if
Friday was out without Chris Tucker playing Smokey, that it
wouldn't have been the same, It wouldn't have been a
hit that it was. So there was a lot of
things uh gems that I Hugh rock Um in that
(31:57):
podcast from Music to Movie rare beef that nobody knew
about to shock people took out him that nobody knew about.
So I definitely encouraged, Like if you were a big
history buff on music culture movies, cube drops ZM has
never told before, So I really I was. That was
the most fun podcast I ever did Wow, most fun
(32:17):
ever and he's had some really good ones posted up
with Chris Haynes. Is the podcast downloaded. It's a really
it's a really good pod in the past. I have
no If it's the most fun you've had, then this
one ought to be a good one. Chris, thanks so
much for joining us on Fox Sport TRADEO a R.
Let's get David Gascon. We got Dave baseball command. The
Yankees just are the yes, sorry, go ahead, but Commander Gottlieb,
(32:42):
you got the Daniel Craig physical statue too, so we
can get you one like that, get you that payroll
to a million dollars per movie. And supposedly he hates
doing it right, God, I hate God. I hate pretending
like I'm a super like I'm a spy for fifty
million dollars. Sucks hanging out and pretended to sleep with
other beautiful women making out with him. He could always
(33:03):
go back to teamwriter and go chasing Angelina Jolie around
a little bit. Didn't see it. It's good. Yeah, it's
pretty good. Back in the day. Yeah, Doug, As you mentioned,
Yankees just wrapped things up with the Oriels. They beat
him six to five. They did announce that CC Sabatia
is going back on the ten day injury list, so
we'll be done for a couple of weeks. You want to,
I know, I know. He's been the deal what three
times this season? It seems like everyone for the Yankees
(33:24):
has been the d l uh you want a Cespedis
obviously got a little banged up a couple of days
ago while he was out. He underwent ankle surgery today
and the Mets say he's officially done for twenty nineteen. Meanwhile,
in the NBA, as you mentioned the top of the show,
Warriors Kevin Durant will be out for at least the
start of the NBA Finals with his calf injury. Did
not make the NBA All First Team First Team members

do you got for me? We got gas? I forgot
(35:58):
to ask. Since yesterday was no NBA, what did you
and Ryan Music talk to your significant others about yesterday? Yeah?
You guys room a little bit of you want to
you want to really know? Yes, traffic was awful. I
got home, uh, picked up dinner. Then my daughter had
a garage band concert at the same place I hold
our basketball workouts. So I did half out of the
(36:19):
basketball workouts, then the garage band concert for an hour,
and then we had fro Yo. Then we got home
and I watched some of the Office with my with
her twin twin sister. That's about it, all right, that's
not bad music. And and and oh yeah, by by
the way, by the way, angels got rained out last
night's right of the things that never happened, the Angels
(36:41):
got rained out. And I think it was just like
one big big thunderstorm, right, and they just like freaked
out that it's not playable, not playable, not playable. Speaking
of not playing, Alex Smith was seen just a couple
of days ago along with other quarterbacks that have made
their return. But there was an interesting point with Alex Smith.
There was somebody else that was at o t a
(37:02):
s first time since having a season ending injury in November.
Can you guess who that was? A bit Adrian Petere
Adrian Berson played the whole season. Um, who else was
there that had an injury? Yes, I don't know, I
don't know. It's a trick question. It is Alex Smith.
(37:24):
You got injured in November, Dug compound fracture. I screwed
that game up. I know John like that. I can
acknowledge I screwed it up. I was like, what are
you talking about? Gaily? The answer, OK, so here's the
here's the thing. Play football anymore. I hope he does.
But he was he does, He's not going to. He
was seeing throwing footballs though during O T A s.
(37:46):
There's a couple of pictures on the Washington Redskins Twitter
handle that has him throwing. He's in shorts and a
T shirt. It's from the Torso up though, so you
can't see anything on his leg at all. I mean,
he had basically the leg halog and last time I
compound fracture back in November. So hopefully you can get
him back some time here in the near future. How
about this one. Get this thing right? Guests who is
(38:08):
a star wide receiver in the NFL and said, everyone
is on the same page and there's really no drama
in the locker room this season. Oh that's aid jud
Smith Schuster Bingo, Bingo. He actually said this. The chemistry
is on point. Everyone on the same page, everyone is communicating.
There's really no how do you say drama in our
locker room? End quote, how do you say drama? The
(38:33):
genes um not surprising. I mean, this is obviously a
shot across the ballot at Antonio Brown. Antonio Brown, who
shunned Juju Smith Schuster, who shun you know, Ben Roethlisberger.
I do think the Steelers need to stop talking about
Antonio Brown. He's their ex girlfriend. They broke up with her.
Now they're moving on crazy hot next girlfriend. Yeah. Yeah,
(38:55):
the crazy hot matrix though. Right, so he's not a unicorn? Yeah,
fair enough. Guess who in the NBA threatened to return
to Europe if they weren't traded within seven days has
to be a European player, right, sir? Traded? Give me
a hint. Eastern Conference? Better hint team, dreadful team that
(39:20):
did not make the playoffs. Oh, dreadful team sounds like
the Wizards. Two or four of us Chris STAPs Porzingis
he actually said, point blank he said to us, I'm
not going to resign with the Knicks. I'm gonna give
you seven days to trade me or I'm gonna go
back to Europe and quote, Okay, but you had a
(39:41):
timestamp that one who's writing these questions, like right now,
Kris stops prozingis is happy? I mean, he got his
ask kicked last week, the bleating all over the place,
he got jumped in his hometown, but he's happy in Dallas.
Like it did. The question was worded. It seemed like
present day, like he just said this, like, man, I
(40:02):
should know this. What else you gotta hate you? John Guess,
who suffered another setback in rehab and a rehab assignment
and will be placed on the ten day injury list
sport Yes, Baseball injurylist. Handts joining a teammate that was
just announced. Oh uh, this is a met Um. It's

a kid, I was never really into bon Jovi. I
just wasn't. I wasn't in the bon Jovi thing. Um,
in all honesty, a lot of with its glam rock,
(41:53):
punk rock, hard rock, Like I wasn't guns and Roses.
I was never really into bon Jovi. Even now, I'm
not really into um, Bruce Springsteen. You know, there's lots
of guys my age are a little bit older, like
very I'm not in your my late fifties forties, but
in your fifties. Like there's guys like man, I have
been every Springsteen show since, Like okay, that sounds really
(42:17):
expensive and okay, there's nothing for me, but you're you're
totally allowed to completely loud to no question. I just
have never been that in the Springsteen. I've never been
that into bon Jovi. I was, I'd say, I'm more
into There's there's certain like I was listening yesterday. I
(42:39):
was driving two Creden's clear Water Revival CCR, and I
have established my my dad was a little bit older, right,
a little bit older, and he also like had an
even older perspective. So we listen to old time radio
(43:00):
as well as sports radio when it first started, and
we would listen to big band music and Sinatra. But
I was not that old. But he wasn't into much
of the late sixties and seventies. If there was anything
that he was into was like Marvin Gay and and
and more, you know, some funk and R and B
(43:21):
more than he was into any of the acid rock
or any of the hippie movement now of that stuff.
So there's a void that I just didn't have. Nobody
in my upbringing played that kind of music that some
of it I've come around to an adulthood. Just because
I was a basketball player, I was into hip hop
and pop music and rap music more than I wasn't
(43:42):
anything else. I say that because as much as I
didn't get the bon Jovi thing, the Oh, the Cure,
there's a lot of girls like the Cure. When I
was in middle school and high school, this wasn't into it.
For the most part. I've been the same with Drake. Now.
I understand he's super successful. I understand he's super popular.
(44:07):
There are some songs that I like. There are songs
that don't make sense. God's plan makes no sense. Like
he talks about people wishing bad on him. What the
hell does that have to do with being God's plan
because they're hating on him like that. Just listen to
(44:29):
the lyrics of that song and then listen to the
chorus of that song, and you're like, that doesn't make
any sense to me. I mean, the great thing about
rapping hip hop is usually you can tell a story.
So I'm not the hugest Drake guy, but I'll play
(44:49):
some Drake songs for my kid. My son likes him Drake,
but they all do kind of sound. There is a
certain a C d C quality to him, right where
a C d C all there, So songs are kick ass,
hard rock songs. You Shook Me All Night Long, Thunderstruck,
you kind of go all back in black. You go
down the line of all the popular ones, but they
all kind of sound the same. So part of this,
(45:19):
I guess, is I'm just I don't get the Drake thing.
Oh man, y'all gotta listen to Drizzy, Like, the lyrics
aren't that great, the beats aren't that you know, it
didn't make me want to danswer, they're not. It's good.
Like I remember when Snoop Dogg's first album came out,
I was like, or the Chronic just came out before
(45:43):
you put that on Today you're like, wow, I like
every one of these songs, Snoop dogs or something like
this is different than anything else I've ever heard. I
don't get that sense with Drake. But whatever, he's super,
he's he's big, he's big, and he's a global ambassador
(46:05):
for the Toronto Raptors. Let's give him a title so that,
you know, we can give him access to the locker
room and he can kind of wrap our city and
always it's better off. Drake has always been known to
where the T shirt or hat of the team that
wins this will basically by his love, and it's worked
(46:31):
until Games three and four of the Eastern Conference Finals,
where Drake is out of control, like, hey, dude, nobody
came here to see you. And I get it, Like
you're Drake, You're huge, you can date anybody, talk to anybody,
walk anywhere, but you're at somebody else's show. Just it's
(46:54):
crazy disrespectful to the actual players of the game, let
alone people try to watch the game. Now I know
that this is what happens. I'll never forget um. Matt
Holidays joined us a couple of times. Matt's a dear
friend of mine and he's a seven time All Star,
(47:14):
and he was at he was at training camp with
the St. Louis Cardinals during Lin Sanity. You guys remember
Lin Sandy, when Geremy Lynn kind of took over the NBA.
He calls me up. He's like, hey, we got the
night off. I want to go down. The Knicks are
coming down to play the Heat and this is Lebron
and Dwyane Wade in the heat. It was like the
last game before the All Star break? Can you help
(47:35):
me get tickets? And so I helped him get some
some pretty good tickets, And I said, what was the
game like, if you remember that game that was basically
the end of lin Sanity that was in the heat,
where like, this guy is not a starter in a
real NBA game, and they just took him completely out
of the game. And it was a little bit of
exposure there. Well, Matt's like, not only was did Jeremy
(48:00):
Lynn looked like a guy who was a you know,
a G League player trying to play in the NBA.
But at some point in the first half, Floyd Mayweather
walked in and he had like five people in front
of him, five people behind him. He made sure to
make a scene. He shook everybody's hand, took pictures, kiss babies.
Before he sat down the scene, he kept standing up
and sitting down like this. These are things that are
(48:22):
done for a short period of time at NBA games,
not the whole time, and you don't have the free
run of the sideline. So this is not me hating
on Drake. I've never totally gotten the Drake thing, but
I like some Drake songs. God's plan makes no sense
to me, and the only reason God's Plan became popular
(48:42):
is because he had a video or he's handing out
money to other people. True stories hand out like ten
thousand dollars people, which is cool, but like it does again,
doesn't go along with the by my estimation, the lyrics
and the lyrics actually contradict him selves several times over.
Here's my Budinals or coach the Milwaukee Bucks on Drake
(49:05):
on the sidelines. I don't know how much if he's
on the court. It sounds like you guys are saying
it's it's more than I realized. There's certainly no place
for fans and you know whatever it is exactly that
that Drake is for the Toronto Raptors, you know, to
be on the court. You know there's there's boundaries and
lines for a reason, like whatever he is, whatever he
(49:27):
is to them. Uh. Some guy tweeted this out and
then Drake you know, liked it and then put it
on his story. Sports media needs to accept the simple rule.
The Miami Hurricane signed the lawback in the eighties. If
you don't want the opposing team to celebrate or dance,
prevent them from scoring, winning, or achieving the achieving their objective,
get over it and keep moving. Okay, Well that's Drake
(49:50):
or Drake, fans need to understand you're not on the team.
You are we guy on steroids or we guy on money.
You're not on the team. The players don't want to
tell you it, but they all think it. Like, what
are you doing in warmups with Kentucky basketball? Like you
couldn't play in Kentucky? What are you doing on the
(50:13):
court or touching a coach? Like no one does that
for a reason. I'm not in your band and you're
not on my basketball team. You're gonna get me. Let
me come up and sing a couple of bars, of course.
Not Hey, hey, listen next year Coachella, Drizzy, Next year Coachella,
(50:34):
I'm gonna be kind of walking around on your stage
and just give me about fifteen twenty seconds, maybe a
minute to Freestylet I got I'll figure out something really good.
Depending on the vibe, it's gonna be dope, trust me.
Six don't happen. You know why, Like of all the
people that should understand the boundaries, Drake is one of
them because I guarantee wherever he goes. It's not like
(50:57):
when I hung out one time with Aaron Rodgers and
I just like, watch how much people like to touch me.
It's weird. And you know what, every person who came
up to him wanted to like touch him, not like
shake their hands, like hug it out, just touch him,
put their hands on him. It's a weird thing. Just
like people have their own kind of personal space, teams
(51:19):
have their own team space, and you're not part of
the team. Even the owner isn't part of the team.
We all get creeped out by owners that get a
little bit too close. And this, of course just signifies
the difference in how the NFL is running NBA is run.
Adam Silver is brilliant, brilliant, but his las fair attitude
(51:44):
let everybody kind of handle it themselves. I worked one
NFL game, okay, one NFL game sideline, and if you
watch the NFL, you'll notice that there's a yellow line
that goes around the field out side of the sidelines.
You do not step inside those yellow lines unless the
(52:05):
game is over and you're allowed to conduct an interview
or before the game has started. Outside of that, nobody,
no one steps inside those yellow lines. I know, I
was working for the TV crew and I had my
foot slightly inside the yellow line, and somebody from the
league office called Fox and was like, what is Gottlieb doing.
(52:26):
We do not do that. This is a sport for TV,
and his foot should not be because that's how the
shot has got Like, oh how, I had no idea.
I was standing before the game next to Peyton Manning
because he was there to see his boy Adam Gaze
as his son. There. You know Peyton Manning didn't do
during the game. One he wasn't on the sideline. The
(52:48):
usher guys off. There's nobody on sidelines. And two he
would never step inside the l line. That's how it's
supposed to be. That's the show. You're not part of
the show. Drake is the worst embodiment of we Guy
and the Raptors. I know they thought they were doing
the right thing. Like look, man's from Toronto. He's a
(53:09):
great story. He's incredibly successful, he's incredibly popular. He's popular
with current NBA players as well as our fans Like
I completely understand that, But this is where somebody needs
to go and go like, hey, dude, you look like
forget about now. You don't don't tell me look like
an idiot, just go can't do that. We can't have
(53:30):
our guys on your stage, and he might say like, yeah,
they can't know, can't be in your stage. You you know, like, look,
the Warriors are gonna play at least two maybe three
more games at home, you know. And if you know
about the Warriors home games, now that that's it's not
(53:53):
the same old Oakland crowd word. You could get in
for whatever first two rows in Oakland. Those are three
common guys, all tech dudes. They can buy and sell
Drake ten times over. If they woke up with Drake's
bank account, they would fire everybody underneath them and have
(54:14):
a heart attack in the process because something has gone
seriously wrong. That's how much money those people in Oakland
are worth, because they don't actually live in Oakland. And
you know what they don't do. They don't patrol up
and down the sidelines. They're not given that given Steve.
When Steve Kerr had a major back issue that kept
(54:35):
him out for half the season, did you see anyone
or anybody come up and go like Steve a little
little I got I know, actup pressure. No good, Okay,
have you ever seen that? So Drake is we guy.
We guy is not generally all that well respected. And
(54:58):
even though he's the global and master. The irony to
it is some people. Chris Haynes, who joined us earlier
from Yahoo Sports, is like, well, they think it will
help land free agents. How's it gonna help with Kawhi?
Leonard quite Letard clearly seems enamored, seems enamored with the
idea of coming back to Toronto to play with Drake.
(55:23):
By the way, why isn't he rubbing Kauai's like Kauai
is leg injury more problematic in keeping Toronto from reaching
the NBA finals. Then Nick nurses back. Somebody grabbed Drake,
pull him aside and go I get it. But between
we guy and helicopter parent, that's what you look like.
(55:48):
And if no owners do it and nobody else does it,
you shouldn't do it. Sit your ass down, have a coke, smile,
you know the rest. Landing Collins from the Redskins joins

Everybody needs to be playing for the season. Landing Collins
joining us the Washington Redskins, does it feel strange at
all considering you're you've been so aligned with the Giant
(58:00):
and even doing this charity game in New York that
you're now It's not not just that you're in on
another team right on one of thirty two, but you're
with the arch rival of the Giants, one of the
our trials and jameson the Redskins does it feel Does
it feel weird at all? No, I'm just going back
playing the game is just joining my team is always
love when we played, even playing was playing with each
(58:21):
other and having having a great time out that lasting smile.
At the same time, I'm at a place that I
wanted to be at the beginning. You know. Yeah, it
makes sense. Um, you've come out and said, hey, look,
Dave Gentleman never talked to us. So when when he
took over, he never called you, he never never asked you,
never never like you were one of the leaders of
the team. You guys didn't have a good one on ones. Yeah,
(58:43):
I mean it's not it's nothing towards the giants are
there the organization. It's more towards the Gentleman. And yeah,
what I'm saying about us and then they're not getting
you know, any of us nothing without getting to talk
to Opie Snack myself, you know, and and that's sense.
So it's it's more of it. It's more of him
parts taking on what what happens with all of us
in all the back last So, what what's your experience
(59:05):
with the Redskin has been like? Obviously you haven't been
with them long you had the one you know, you
guys had the one O T A S. In terms
of them getting to know you, what's it been like?
It has been all love talking too. Grew almost every day,
but trusting mon need to be coordinating at the whole
staff com It's all another day. Um. I haven't seen
Mrs Nighter yet, but just and I was just saying
(59:28):
it all everybody's like, you know, a family. If everybody's
talking to each other again, I know each other and
making sure every you know, everybody's saying has and may boy,
you know, then letting you know that it's okay to
come talking to me. Lannon Collins, our guest on the
Doug Gottlip Show on Fox Sports Radio. You mentioned that
you know, oh b J obviously Olivier Vernon, there's there's
there's former like former giants everywhere. Um are you guys
(59:52):
still is there like a text chain of all the
former giants that you guys? Anytime somebody leaves you guys,
put them on the text chain. I'll plead the shift.
Uh um, Okay, how good do you think the Skins are? Like?
I mean, last year they're winning the division and they
lose not one but two quarterbacks to broken legs, and
(01:00:12):
obviously they brought in new quarterbacks to help kind of
fix that. Um. But but but in the short time
with the organization, what's your assessment of where you guys are.
I think we don't think to suf and um components
together and they take you got to practice day by
day better and better stay um. When tom comes, you're
(01:00:33):
gonna showcased on the shield. So we're gonna definitely be good.
You are somebody who you ask anybody who follow the Giants,
you ask anybody now with the Redskins, you are you are?
You have great leadership qualities, right and and one of
the things you said about leaving the Giants was, I
mean we might have been too vocal for him, right
that we just that we we like to talk because
people respected us. When you come to the Redskins, how
(01:00:55):
hard is that you've been a leader at one place
to come into another place. Are you going through a
feeling out period or You're just gonna always be you
from from from the jump, I'm gonna always be leag
I'm always be me as that's my protect I coming
I gotta come with that is if I'm not myself
I can't. I can't put I can't put up what
they want on the field. I can't give him what
they're asking for, what they paid before to do. Understood,
(01:01:16):
I can't be myself. Landing Collins are guests in the
Doug Gottlip Show on on Fox Sports Radio. UM it's
weird though, right when a guy who's part of the
the positive culture of a team is let go as
as part of a culture change, Like, how do you
process that? Like that? I mean, like process does disrespect
because when you call me a culture change, you call
(01:01:38):
me a problem to my faith without saying that in
my face, you can it to everybody, and everybody knows
what's in that that organization, within that locker room, within
anybody that knows me office, field and on the field.
I ever never that kind of person, because that's how
you shoke. Because you could have said that's my face
now that the media know and let me find out
that way you could have talked to me. But at
(01:01:58):
the end of the day, I like, Okay, that's the
way you went, that's around he went. So it's like
this just that way, Yeah, I mean make you angry?
Does it make you angry? Like I don't know. If
it's something disrespectful to you and it's it's the opposite,
would make would make me upset? Would would that be
(01:02:20):
a fair very very I wasn't angry, but that's very
um make me. I like the first very very much.
Now I don't. I like a lot of people. Um. Okay,
here's the most important question. You go to a new city,
a new town, a new team. Who's gonna do your hair?
Like you've had some You've had some like that's a
(01:02:41):
who Who did you reach out to? Or have you
reached out to find out who's gonna because you can't
just fly up to New York every time you want
to get your hair have a hair guy right or
hair girl? Like my U takes the train down. She says,
like that's who hour train ride. I said, you sure
about that? He said yeah, because it's fine. I guess
schedule every two weeks this ship come to do it
(01:03:01):
and be trying to do it that way. But I was,
I stee all it to my people, and I think
you're gonna come down. So if you can work it
out that way, that's how we're gonna do it perfect.
Landing Collins joining us remind me again? How can people
buy tickets? Okay, this is It's Saturday, June eight, UM
at seven o'clock at Palisades Credit Union Park in Panoma,
New York is Landing Collins celebrity softball game. How can
(01:03:25):
people buy tickets? They can buy tickets that Landing Commons
game dot com? And then who are the slibs? Like, look,
I'd like to see you there? But who else? Who
else is are the Are they all all the former
giants on that text change? Are they all showing up?
All the former jommas. I have a couple of guys
from the Skin coming and I got probably two suprises
that I know. One is a for sure and another
(01:03:48):
one is almost of the sure. Okay, so when's a
surprise that's a for sure? Give me a hint? Can
you give me a hint? Uh? If I give you no,
don't give me. Don't give me an answers. Give me
a hint. You know what a hint is? Right? If
I give you the hint is a day giveaway too,
(01:04:09):
then you're not very good at hints. That's that's that's
that's what this hint would be too hard to get
to hide? All right, but you did say ex Giants,
which makes me think, Uh, there's number thirteen that might
be there. He'd be pretty exciting to come see play
some softball and and hang out with makes me think
there'll be some other slebs there. Listen, this is a
great stuff, I know. Uh. Proceeds go to benefits St.
(01:04:30):
Christopher's Incorporated, which is an outstanding charity. We wish you
nothing but health in the off season. Can't wait to
see on the field. And thanks for joining us. Thank
you very much. Pleasures mind that's Landing Collins. Get you
to David Gascon find out what's going on. Day baseball.
I believe the Twins have a couple of boards. Didn't
the Angels have a couple of board In the bottom
of the first inning, had day baseball at the Big A.
(01:04:52):
She played hookey music. I was trying to get you
guys there yesterday. It was raining yesterday. We didn't know
that until later on. But all right, you got music
up too. As soon as you said that, we should
have played some hookie. He was really excited. Now, so
just scored. So they lead in Anaheim right now, one
to nothing. Twins are out in front. Meanwhile, they're literally
(01:05:12):
a thousand people there probably. I mean, that's that's like
a sell in Miami, right, Yeah. But the Angels have
draw three and a half million people. They've they've struggled.
They're not drawing as well this year. Um. But because
this is a postponed game, it was supposed to be yesterday,
it's today. I mean, there's that maybe two thousand people there,
(01:05:33):
I don't know. Not a great play at short stop,
a little little pop up not quite not quite in
the infield and they score a tag up from from
the grass. Not a great play Angels baseball. Right now,
they're down one nothing to Minnesota. Meanwhile, earlier today Pittsburgh
in Colorado, and this ball is hit in the air
(01:05:54):
to center field, going back is Desmond to the wall
and it is going into the bullpen. He's hit another Josh.
He's got two RV eyes today and a major league
leading forty seven on the year. Pirates Radio Networth. They
hammered the Rockies fourteen to six. San Francisco's leading right
(01:06:16):
now at home to Atlanta to nothing Giants, and that
one Phillies pushed out Chicago Cubs. Picture John Lester after
four things and give seven runs, four of them earn
eight to three Philadelphia right now in the home half
of the sixth inning, and the Yankees took care of business,
winning in Baltimore again six to five. They've won twelve
straight games in a row against the Orioles. Meanwhile, in
the National Football a couple of notes here, the Tampa
(01:06:38):
Bay Buccaneers have made an official They have reached an
agreement to land defensive tackleman Domen Kong Sue on a
one year deal with a PAM just over nine million
dollars for the season. Jacksonville Jaguars have signed their first
round pick, defensive been Josh Allen to his rookie deal. Meanwhile,
in the NBA Eastern Conference Finals continue tonight with Game
number five. The home teams won every singing game to
(01:06:59):
this point, series tied up at two, two tip off
times at eight thirty Eastern Doug Bucks or seven point
favorites in that ball game. With all that being said,
back to Doug Gottlieben ten seconds and first words from
our friends and farmers at Farmers Insurance, we know every
windshield collision has a unique sound. Beetle bird, poop, drone
seen it, covered it. Dr Farmers are Farmers under written
(01:07:24):
my Farmers truck Fire insurance exchange that affiliates products an
available every state. So the All NBA teams were just
announced right before our show. Kevin Durant did not make
first team on b A. Clay Thompson did not make
any of the top three All NBA teams, and it
should be pointing out that Clay did not have a
great season all around. But here was Clay Thompson when
(01:07:45):
he was meeting with the media. He was informed of
the All NBA teams. I mean that's cool and all,
but like when you go to five straight finals, I
respect those guys. When you go to five straight I
mean it takes some morning. Just a couple of DA
guys say all the time twon whatever. That's not I'd
(01:08:05):
rather want a championship and the third team NA, So
it's all. Do not like that that that affects potential
contracts status is you know All NBA though, because that
would have elevated you know, it is what it is.
You know, I can't control it. Uh, but I think
(01:08:25):
there's that many guards better than the end league. But
that's the reason why we're still playing. So I don't
even want to get into it. Honestly, I kind of
think you did want to get into it, right. Um,
I'll say, look, some of it is screwed up because
you have to have a center, Like they're still doing
this arcane thing where you have to have a center,
and yeah, your kids had a great year. I don't
(01:08:47):
know if he was one of the top five players
in the NBA. He definitely didn't have a He's not
a better all around player than Kevin Durant is. He's
just not, you know, like, I feel like Kevin Durant
got more are snubbed than than Clay Thompson did. Am
I crazy to think that? You know, he he shot
fifty two percent from the floor. His three point shooting
(01:09:09):
was down a bit um but his you know it,
reboundy was down a little bit, but his he wasn't.
He's played in seventy eight games. He like basically played
every night and was the picture of consistency. Shot a
high percentage from the field, from the free to the line,
a little bit lower percentage from the three point line,
(01:09:30):
but took fewer threes per game, fewer shots per game
than he had his previous year. Like and then in
I guess Clay's point is, and this is so earlier today,
Max Kellerman over the other place said that he doesn't
believe James Harden should be First Team All NBA because
the playoffs are two months long. Wait Gascon, which just happened.
(01:09:55):
Hold on that ball just and there's another one going out.
Jonathan Shoop had a three run homer off of Matt Harvey.
Fat Matt Harvey. You guys could have raced from here
to the left field and gotten that ball. There was
nobody inside. Uh yeah, that's that's that's it. The Twins
are really good, but um got Matt Harvey. Remember when
(01:10:16):
he started an All Star game? Of course it was
in It was in Dark Night. The Dark Knight started
Game seven and didn't want to come out and then
got lit up as remember the New York Mets. That
was only a couple of years ago. His the night
is very dark on the dark Night. Okay, So look, look,
Kellerman actually made a good point while making a while
(01:10:37):
making it in bizarre fashion. His point was he didn't
say it this way like. His point was, I wouldn't
put James hard in the first team on BA team
because I think the playoffs should count and I count
the playoffs, and if I count the playoffs, I don't
think he's one of the three best perimeter players or
five best players in the sport. Now we should point
(01:11:01):
out that he did have some huge games in the
playoffs and they essentially lost the Western Conference finals. I
don't think he's wrong, but that's not what these awards
signify right now. Should they have like an all Tournament
team or an all Playoff team, Yes, but these awards
(01:11:21):
are about regular season. And what Clay is saying, and
I'm sure Kevin Rant probably will tweet this later on,
is essentially what what Max Kellerman saying, Like, like you
really find out how good somebody is if they're how
they perform in the playoffs. And here Kemba Walker is
(01:11:41):
who everybody thinks is a tremendous player, but his team
did even make the playoffs and he's third team on NBA,
Like that just seems kind of crazy, and we see
how good Clay can be when the game's actually matter,
you know, to be fair, Clay Thompson did not have
a great season, and by Clay Thompson's own estimates, he
(01:12:03):
averaged more points than last year, but his veld goal
shooting was slightly down. His three point shooting was slightly down. Um,
and we have a hard time signifying defensive aptitude. He's
tremendous defensive player, but they weren't as good as a team.
Do I think he would rather win championships than winning
(01:12:23):
third team n B A I do, But it came
across in a fact. The way in which he said
it was contradictory is body language is different than what
he actually said. UM. So you know, I think that's
it's a really really interesting argument. I made this argument
about the Heisman Trophy, Right, Why do we decide the
(01:12:46):
Heisman Trophy when we do we don't consider every football game.
The Heisman Trophy is not an award to be given
to the best regular season player, right, First Team All NBA,
SEC Team on NBA, third Team on NBA. NBA's MVP
is solely a regular season award. Should it be different discussion?
(01:13:07):
I actually think it's a really smart discussion, but it's
not part of the the actual discussion. But the Heisman
Trophy is simply supposed to be rewarded or awarded to
whoever the best player in college football is. And why
can't we get all of the information, including Bowl games
or postseason games, before we determine who the best player is.
(01:13:35):
So I don't blame Clay for being pissed. He's like, look,
all I do is defend, rebound and shoot and play
my role, and we're successful. And when they need me more,
I produce more, and the most important games, I produce more.
And the reward is a guy whose team doesn't even
make the playoffs, doesn't even make the playoffs, makes third
(01:14:00):
team on BA ahead of me. I'm not sure I
blame him. By the way, Matt Harvey just gave up
another two run home run, six nothing. Twins. Twins are
really good. There's your baseball update. Chris Broussard is tired
of being called a liar, stood up for himself. Give
you my thoughts. Next. Fox Sports Radio has the best

Earlier today, Chris Bussard was on Undisputed. Of course he's
been in a Twitter beef with Kevin Durant. This was
his response. He has every right to get on social media.
It's a response to clap back. We talked about him
being sensitive. But if this is what he enjoys, he
(01:15:48):
can do it. It's his right. Now. What he doesn't
have a right to do is lie. And he he
didn't directly lie in that he didn't deny the story.
He didn't deny anything about the story. He just said
I don't have his cell phone number, all right. But
the tweet implied that I lied, that I made the
(01:16:09):
whole story up, and that's how a lot of people
are taking it. The thing that's more important to me
than anything, than my career, than anything, is my integrity.
If I were to sit up here on this show
and tell a four minute lie with all of that detail,
if I were to prostitute my faith my God to
(01:16:30):
promote a lie, that would be disrespectful to all you guys,
to the audience, And honestly, I think that would be
a fire able offense. And I'm saying, if anybody can
prove that I was lying, yesterday, they fired me. FS One,
fired me, Fox Sports Radio, take me off the I
(01:16:51):
Couple Radio show with Rob Parker and fired me. Don't
let me set foot in this building again. Well, Rob,
I mean, Christian is not getting fired. I don't think
and I do think Chris has a tremendous amount of integrity.
I'm gonna point out something that I think anybody has
talked about and it's not an It will sound like
an integrity deal, but it's not. It's just something that
(01:17:12):
people do, and I don't love it. I don't think.
I don't think we can we should talk about what
we dm people. Am I wrong here? I feel like
a direct message, even more so than a text message,
is meant to be private and not meant to be shared. Now, look,
(01:17:35):
he didn't share any sort of negative details. He was
simply saying, like, hey, I know, Kevin Uryant, We've gone
back and forth on things. I actually don't mind the
fact that that k D going back to yesterday's before
Kevin Durant called him a liar if you actually listen
to it, um, you know, like he he wasn't. He
(01:17:56):
wasn't sharing any sort of illicit details about Kevin Durant's life,
Kevin Rand's decision, Kevin Durant's feelings about playing for Oklahoma City,
playing for the Golden State Warriors, or potentially playing with
anybody else. I just I generally think it's not a
great practice. It's not a great practice to share direct messages.
(01:18:21):
On the other hand, I agree with Chris, like, are
we really getting into whether or not you text message
somebody or you text if you d M somebody on
I G or d M, Like were you communicating with
that person? Yeah? Close enough? Are we really getting that
much into the weeds and semantics into the no, you
(01:18:42):
said text message? And I mean like, look, you're texting
on your phone, whether or not you texted phone to
phone or you know, app to app or inter apt text,
Like who cares you look so small when you're Kevin
Durant and you shouldn't have to. So I'm team Brussard.
(01:19:06):
I will just point out in general, I don't think
we share direct messages or private messages that were sent
to one another. That is that a do you agree
disagree with that stance? Music? I don't mind it because
he didn't do the whole screenshot thing and actually expose
everything that they were talking about. That one that that's
(01:19:27):
really what you know what, that's a better point. You
made a better point than I did. What you don't do,
what you don't do. What you don't do is screenshot
a d M. Right, you don't screenshot at d M
for the whole world to see, Like, that's a private message.
Some things are meant to remain private. If they wanted
to come at you publicly or talk with you publicly,
(01:19:48):
they could tweet at you publicly. So that there in
lies the rub, all right, So you should never write,
you should never publicly if someone's trying to have a
private conversation with you and you just all of a a
sudden air it out in public. I don't agree with
that because then like the nature of what they say
you may be angry with, but at least they're trying
(01:20:09):
to do the right thing by handling it in private
and not just having the whole world show it, and
then you just put it out there when their intent
was for it to remain private. I think him just
simply referencing, like, hey, you know, look, I've had conversations
with him. Um, I added context to the general point.
That's that's what he's trying to do. I thought he
(01:20:30):
went a little further than he needed to, like we've
had long text conversations, like I think, but I also
know part of that show is it's organic, the live show,
and you're not planning for exactly how you're gonna say
what you're gonna say, And he was just like you said,
he was just trying to These are not things that
I would ever hide from him, and he'll come at me,
(01:20:50):
and I'm not surprised that when he comes at me
on Twitter. Yes, do you think there's a difference, like
if I had your cell number and I could text
you and call you, is that different than let's say,
meet d M and you. I mean, I know it's
all the same that we were trying to say that,
but is there It seems like there's a little difference,
like if I had your cell phone number, that to
me seems a little more in depth than if I
just d M you on Instagram. Maybe I'm wrong, I
(01:21:12):
don't I don't know. I just seemed like that's what everybody.
Oh I got a cell phone, nuber, It's like, okay, cool,
you got more personalized relationship. But I don't know, yeah,
I I generally it signifies that you have a closer
relationship when you're texting each other. On the other hand,
if you're I G d M NG and and Twitter
d m NG, I don't know if it matters. But yes,
(01:21:33):
usually you have somebody's cell phone. It does establish that
you have a close relationship. It's a great point you make.
Matt Harvey just gave up another home run? Is that

unbelievable I roll when he found out. Then he said,

no disrespect to those guys. You just saw the I

want to say the minutia of the c b A,
but um, the way the cb A, particularly in regards
to the franchise tag, seems to work overwhelmingly, I should say,
seems to write it does. It works overwhelmingly in the
team's favor, and you're still operating under this same collective
bargaining agreement that doesn't require him, you know, by any
stretch of the imagination, to be there. I mean it's like,
(01:24:10):
who do you think you're buying into? Like, let me,
I'm bell for the last I don't know two seasons.
Has basically let it be known that like, I'm going
to do what I want to do, and I plan
on balling out on Sundays. But leave me the hell

And he walked away from a lot of money. Obviously,
things in Pittsburgh went the way they went. I mean,
(01:24:33):
I don't think like if the Jets thought that, like,
oh well, now we're going to give him some of
that money back, and he's going to become like a
you know, a cheerleader for our you know, he's gonna
sit there and root everybody on while they lift and
while we you know, do these quasi useless practices and
shells and and shorts, you know what I mean. But
you know what I like, he's told you who we like.
(01:24:56):
I don't think there's ever been a situation that's been
you know what, even more clear than this like I'm
gonna come out and I'm gonna play football and I'll
make my money on Sundays and that's that. Yeah. I
just thought, you know, I haven't played football a year
and a half and he and he did like whatever
animals he had towards Pittsburgh, he shouldn't have towards the Jets.
(01:25:16):
You know, I don't know if it's animous. I just
think it's this is this is just like where he is,
you know what I mean, and what he's about, and
he's about this thing that is that works so in
the in the owner's favor in so many ways. If
you're not paying me to be there, like I get
while you're paying me that money, but you're not you're
not paying me to be there now because I don't
(01:25:37):
have to be there now, and my contract says it
and the c BA says it. So when I have
to be there, I'll be there and watch. I'll knock
your socks off. But but you know what I mean,
the rest of my time is for me. If I
want to work out, if I want to work on
my next rap album, if I want to do whatever,
that's my time. Um, what is the state of what's
(01:25:59):
the real stay of the relationship between he and Adam Gaze.
I don't think there is a relationship. I mean, there's
there's no there's nothing, There's there's nothing there. I mean,
Adam wasn't a you know, a part of recruiting him. Um,
whatever Adam's thoughts on that were, Um, the reality is
he's one of their highest paid player and players and
he's one of the more productive backs in the history
(01:26:22):
of the NFL when you start talking about combined scrimmage
yardage on a year to year basis. So I think
Adam Gates will find a way to get along with
Small I should they get along to utilize him. Is
this gonna be a long term marriage? Might not be.
But let's be real. Look at the contract he signed.
He didn't get uber guaranteed money over multiple years, you know,
(01:26:45):
I mean, it's it was. It was a fairly team
friendly structure and certainly protected the Jets. So I don't
know if those two are gonna be together for a
real long time. And he may turn out, you know,
to be something of a football mercenary. But at that position,
when you're pretty much year to year, any even a
long term deal, you know, girly being the exception. How
many running backs are getting real money in year three?
(01:27:06):
It's not happening. So if you're basically year to year anyway,
I don't want to be year to year on your
franchise tag where you control me. I'd rather be year
to year on my own where. Okay, it didn't work
out there, let me take fifteen from you. You set
me free, and somebody else will pay me. Um, all right,
what about the Peyton man anything? Give me a percent
of chance that happens negative fifty? I mean, because yeah,
(01:27:31):
I mean I think Peyton is Look, one thing about
Peyton Manning is he is incredibly um protective and uh
very much in charge of his brand and what what
the Peyton Manning name is synonymous with? And you know
he's a guy who you know, never really wanted to
be in anything other than a quarterback. And I mean
(01:27:53):
that that thing is a complete circus there. And I
don't know about that market for him ever. I don't
know about him. And people talk about he's not he'll
be working for Adam Case, he'd be working for Woody
and Chris Johnson, Like, are those the two owners that
Peyton Manning makes his bed with I just have a
hard time fathoming that, especially under these present circumstances, Like
does he and Adam have a relationship, Yeah, you know,
(01:28:15):
and Adam's wielding a lot of power right now, but
Adam don't own the team, and Adam might not be
there and two or three years, but the owners will.
I don't see, even under great circumstances, I wouldn't see
this as where Peyton Manning makes his mark. Under these
circumstances with knives out and the culture is ugly and
you don't know who's with you and who's against you,
(01:28:36):
and it's been so toxic there for so long. I
just I have a hard time thinking that's even really
on Peyton Manning house. So so where where is it?
Like owning the Tennessee Titans. Is that all he wants
to do? I mean he has to. He clearly wants
to be around football, and you know, shooting a film
about football, you know that satisfies him only so much. Well, yeah,
(01:28:57):
I think he gets his you know, he sort of
gets his yaays out a little bit through some of
the projects you know, he's doing in the media, whether
it's sort of the film breakdown stuff, or or or
this series he's doing, you know, celebrating the one anniversary
of the league. I think he's very patient. He's a
young man, you know. We think of how long his
career was, and while he played till the end, and
(01:29:18):
he was out there, you know, with no net playing
at forty. I mean he talks to them me, you know,
like he still has kids or in school, and I
think they really liked the lifestyle they have in the
Denver area, and he's got other houses around the country.
All this is the world will always be his oyster.
You know. If he wanted to be a mother lay
football right now, he'd be wenting in football, if he
if he really wanted to be running somebody's personnel department,
(01:29:40):
of those thirty two jobs out there, he'd have one
of them. You know. I think he has the ability
and and the wherewithal to to make it be the
perfect thing at the perfect time. And if it is
a Derek Jeter type situation um with the pathways to
the uber riches that come from from even having a
fraction of ownership, especially in this sport versus baseball, then
(01:30:00):
I think all the better. But I don't know that
it has to be Tennessee. I mean Jimmy Hasm's courted
him for a long time. Um, you know, he obviously
has a legacy there now in Denver and that team. Eventually,
most people seem to think that team will be for sale, um,
whether in the short or the long term. I understand
what they're trying to do there with the trust and
set it up, you know, for there's a fight over
(01:30:21):
which one of Bowland's air should run it. And you know,
Joe allis the team president there is trying to do
one thing. There's other people at the league were like,
I don't know if that's really gonna be tenable long term,
you know. So is that something that Peyton stumbles into
with a group of other investors. I mean, who knows, um,
But I think it's kind of convenient to throw his
name into this Jets thing. But I don't know that
(01:30:42):
there's any there there. The Gottlive Show here on Fox
Sports Radio, that's some fascinating fasting stuff. Um, okay, what
about what about the Cleveland Browns? You know they had
Odell Beckham Jr. Only showed up at O T A
s ones and you know then Baker, you know, firing
off tweets at calherd Um. I think Baker is a
(01:31:05):
tremendous leader this This team has a ton of talent um.
But but there's a there's gotta be a lot of
questions about whether or not they can get it all together.
What do people in the league think about what Cleveland's done?
I think the roster speaks for itself. You know what
kind of coaches Freddy Kitchen is gonna be. What's it
gonna look like year two, year three, when egos are
(01:31:26):
bigger and everybody's kind of the honeymoon probation periods over,
you know, and everybody's maybe um no longer putting their
best face forward all the time. But that's for down
the road. Right now, it's a pretty good looking football
team on paper, and that's all anybody has right now
is paper. You know, there's no standings and there's obviously
no games that matter for a long time. I think
(01:31:47):
the league has done a great job of getting people
to care. I mean, it's like the greatest myth ever created.
I mean, especially when you're talking about people like Odell Beckham,
you know what I mean, And like bro he he
knows how to catch a football. He knows routes, he
knows how to run routes. There will be plenty of
time to build up timing and chemistry. I mean, I
(01:32:08):
was that the Eagles o t other day. It was
supposed to be two hours, end up being ninety minutes.
I think if you counted the real number of plays
the first team what amounts to the first team offense
actually ran against a defense in a team setting. Maybe,
I mean it's like, yeah, they're practicing less than they
(01:32:33):
ever have before. You have guys coming to a new system,
and a lot of it's just about being around each other.
That that's what a lot of it's about. It's about
being around each other, and and about for wide receivers
working with their quarterbacks. They have great timing and just
the idea that like I'm all in on winning, Like
all right, guys are all in on winning. Do the
little things, especially when you're a brand new system. You know,
(01:32:55):
then you know what, then the owners should change the
system and make it mandatory and pay them money and
give them different sorts of stipends in the off season
and stop having most guys try to live year round.
Last time I counted fifty odd weeks on sixteen paychecks
and having to budget that way just because the league
can get away with it. And then they keep all
that money in their pocket and they make more money
on that, you know, and that's there for them to
(01:33:16):
reinvest because they don't have to pay the ball of
the labor until the fall comes around. But you take
all those invoices in in January February, right, I mean,
I'm sorry, Like, I get how the business the NFL works,
and I'm the last guy in the world who's going
to proud to pretend that it matters now for your
draft picks for your first and second year guys. You know, sure, yeah,
somebody who's trying to take somebody else's job. I get it.
(01:33:40):
But like and for a quarterback maybe, but even the
Tom Brady thing, I mean, he doesn't have to be there.
And we all know. I mean, I don't know, dude,
if they start off hot, nobody's gonna care who was there,
you know what I mean for that fourth O t
A in the end of May. And if they start
out bad, it ain't gonna be because of not enough guy.
As we're around, man, you know what I mean that
(01:34:01):
that's not what fingers are going to be crossed. Uh,
you know, figures gonna be pointed at each other across
the locker room about who was here in O T
s and who was and it's it's who produces in
money time. Money time is Sundays, Thursdays and Mondays September
through January. And Odell is a baller. And I don't
think anybody there is sweating it. You know what, you know,
(01:34:23):
what are for for Callaway? All this great pub about Calawi,
whether it amounts to a hill of beans in September
or not, that's great. He needs to be there and
that's more reps for him. But I just I can't.
I just can't go there. I just I think it's
one of the great farcest that's been built up by
this league as a means to keep people glued to
to distractions, like we're taking attendance. They're not even practic.
(01:34:46):
There's not even real practice. Nobody's eating. You're supposed to
be completely non contact. Like, I don't know, man, I
just have a hard time sitting there, you know what
I mean, obsessing or building too much into that element
of all the state of the relationship between the Raiders
and their quarterback Derek Carr. You know, this is it.
(01:35:08):
They've given him all the tools and if he can't,
you know, they think they've got a Ferrari on that
side of the ball. And if if he's driving, you know,
like a Volvo or Volkswagen, then he'll be gone. And
it's an incredibly tradeable contract. It is very team friendly
in every way, shape and form, and even in what
looks like a really good quarterback draft, don't they'll be
(01:35:28):
able to get value for him. If it does work out,
then great. They can use all those picks to keep
building the defense, but they will keep themselves in a
position to um strike to get a quarterback in the
draft if need be. What is the what is the
final the Dack thing? They seem to have paused on
a Dack contract. What do you think the final number
is in terms of per year? If they give him thirty,
(01:35:53):
shame on them. You know, I think he will eventually blink.
He's made no money in his NFL career. At this point.
It's hard to have much of a negotiating stance to
really put your foot down and say I've got leveraged
when you know your base salaries are like six d
fifty thou dollars a year. Um, they're only gonna give
you x you know, percent of a raise, you know,
(01:36:14):
and we're talking multiples of hundreds now to go from
what he's been making to what he wants to make.
At the end of the day, if they hold the line,
I think he takes twenty three whatever because he's never
had a bird in hand to this point. Um, and
let's be real, he doesn't have. I mean, the analytics
community doesn't like him at all, you know what I mean, Like,
you've got to really love the human being and you've
got to be bought in on all this stuff that
(01:36:35):
Jerry sees on a daily basis. Cold heart analysis of
him is there's a lot of people who would say
that that's a team that should probably be in the
quarterback market a year from now unless there is a
drastic step up over the course of a full season
and his ability to display the ball to all quadrants
of the field and really be um engineering a high
octane downfield passing games. Awesome stuff. Jason J. L C.
(01:36:59):
Thanks so much joining us. You've got a buddy, A
cut pleasure is mine clearly, I would say, I mean, like,

Coatino Mobile and Jonas Knox co host the show on
(01:38:24):
Fox Sports Radio and Catina. Let's start with the All
NBA team. Um Clay not happy, rolled his eyes but
said he'd rather win a you know, being the fifth
Finals than be All NBA team. They had Kevin Durant
on the second team and had Paul George who had
an incredible first half of the season but got hurt
and wasn't as good second half of the season. Let's
(01:38:45):
start with the first team. Do you agree with the selections? Um?
First of all, I don't. I don't, But again I
don't even truthfully, I don't even know what What are
they doing when they like? How are they evaluating it?
(01:39:07):
How do you make your first second third from from
first team All NBA to the All first Team, All
Defense the second team. I seriously don't even understand how
you picking. Um, I don't know either. I just I
just know how the vote came down. I think it.
It feels, it feels silly. Now I have k d
on it um because I thought he had a really
(01:39:27):
he had a very good year, better than Paul George.
You had a great first half of the season. And
then you know, then there's the Clay Thompson and the
Kemba Walker. Kemba Walker is had a great season with
a bad team. Clay Thompson had a good season with
a great team, right, Like, how do you balance out
those two? Well? I mean, I can understand that when
even though I'm a fan of Clay Thompson and I
love Kimber Walker, I can understand that. But sometimes you
(01:39:50):
get over shadow because your team is so good, and
because Kimba has such an amazing season, it's not particularly
his fault his seat team is not as good. Right, So,
could could the Good State Warriors be like that if
they had like Brandley Bone or another really good shooter?
Probably so? But could could you know Charlotte be that
(01:40:14):
team even though they weren't as good without Kimba? I
don't think so still got lave show here on Fox
Sport Trader, that's Katino Mobley. Um. Okay, so Katie is
not gonna play looks like Game one. But but on
the other hand, they're gonna get one of these two
teams through six or seven games. How much does that
change who you think when's the NBA Finals if they
(01:40:34):
don't have like do you think they're are you one
of these you think they're better or you know the
same without Kad or do you think they need him
to win the whole thing? I don't think with this team,
these two teams, I truthfully watching these two teams, I
don't think they need Katie for this, to this, to
this series that's coming up. I'm just watching the teams
and I'm looking at their weaknesses, and Golden State just
(01:40:56):
does something different from everybody else. They always have three
or four point guards on the floor, and they got
two of the best shooters ever to touch the basketball.
That's the live So to me, I you don't really
need Katie for the finals. What about the Bucks? Why
have they been? What? What changed when they went to Toronto?
Suddenly couldn't make a shot in their defense wasn't as good.
(01:41:18):
I mean, we gotta pump up work. Let's figure out
what's going to happen at night? Right like the i'b
just right like for people that just really don't understand.
It's like you have to adjust, and that's exactly what
Toronto did. They are just and they want at home,
they didn't really do anything spectacular. They won at home,
that's it. So now they have to win on the road.
(01:41:39):
They went on the road. Let's see what you do
different because you're playing the same defense you played the
game three. In game four, you're playing the same defense
you put while Leonard on. Now I have I have
a strategy about freeing them up, but can't anybody else
run the pick and roll to free up Gianna. Supposed
Gianna is coming out initiating the offense thinking you're gonna
(01:42:00):
rold step through fifteen people. It's not gonna work, especially
against Toronto. So let's see, let's see if Buddenhauser free
them up and run some other plays uh to kind
of disguise uh the offense a little more, and we'll
go from there. But other than that, I really don't
know why everybody's you know, if they went out of
gas with this or that. I wasn't already sold on
(01:42:23):
Milwaukee or Toronto anyway, because they don't have they don't
have two consistent killers on both teams. They just have
one in one. What do you think about the Drake thing?
I mean, he's kind of patrolling the sidelines. He's massaging
Nick Nurse's neck like deal, I know, but no one
else does that. Like what are we doing here? Who cares?
(01:42:45):
Who cares? The people in Sacramento. People are cow bells,
people are clapping things, people are saying stuff. Who cares?
Does when we played Bestball, did you worry about what
fans were doing? No? No, But they also weren't walking
up and down the sidelines, touched the coach and it.
But it's my point. It doesn't matter if he on
the phone while you're driving the ball, touching the ball
from you know, I don't care about know that I'm
(01:43:07):
playing basketball. That's not a distraction to men. But no,
go ahead, you gotta finished finish your rent. It was
a good rent you. No, I'm just saying it's just
not a distraction. People are too sensitive about so many
different things. It's like basketball, especially if you're really good
at it, you I can key out so many different
people and the only person I can hear, especially I
(01:43:28):
was younger as my mom or my dad. It doesn't
matter what's going on the sideline. I'm focused on the court. Period. Look,
I I I agree with you don't hear when guys
are waving their their hands up in the arrow or whatever.
Let me ask you about the Chris Broussard thing. Why
does Kadi care? Why I don't. I don't understand why
he's he's clapping back at k D k D, I
(01:43:50):
mean at Chris Brossard. Are you on team Broussard or
team Durant? No, I'm I listen. It's not even about
what team on one. I'm just saying, just as a man,
you shouldn't be as sensitive when someone says something. And
I don't care. Like Christie started saying, it doesn't matter
if it's a Twitter DM, if it's an Instagram DM,
or if it's just a regular you know text attesting
(01:44:13):
the text, right, that's a test of the text. So
if if if you're having a conversation what Christy sart
on Instagram or via Twitter or whatever it is DM
and him and you guys are having conversations for hours,
but you have then what's the big deal. He's not
anything disrespectful, He's not say anything disrespectful. Oh, he's saying
(01:44:34):
it's he's an analyst he's looking, is he right? You're
making him seem like he's a hundred right when you
clap back at him. Other than that, don't say nothing,
just let it go. Yeah, that's that's I think the
best point that anybody can make is you're bringing attention
to something somebody's saying, and even if you're trying to
make it seem less important, it's actually having the opposite
(01:44:55):
of the intended effect. Now people paying more attention to
what christ is saying. Exactly. All right, Coatina, thanks for

it's something that rhyme with it. It It was awful. And
then what's judge all rise all RZ. What about Sanchez?
Sanchez is I don't know. Sanche is a probably a
little difficult Red Sox eight two winners today over the
Blue Jays and the Pirates, pouting out the Rockies fourteen
to six. Josh Bell again another home right, He's got
(01:46:24):
sixteen now in the season. He was three for four
in that contest, a home run, three runs uh two
runs better than three runs scored as well. Meanwhile, in
San Francisco, there in the bottom of the six inning, Giants,
holding on to a one run advantage, they lead three
to Cobies. Trying to come from behind, they trail at
home to Philadelphia by a score of eight to six. Meanwhile,

Knight uh Shamalan movie. M Knight has the surprise ending. Right,
Did you guys know that he was dead in sixth sense? No,
(01:48:17):
I watched I never forget. I watched it with my
wife and she's like, I think he's dead. What are
you talking about? I think he's dead. It was like,
very early in the movie, what what what are you what?
Even I I gave her the I gave her the
look like you just said the dumbest thing on earth.
And I end up being the idiot at the end
of the movie. Um, but I like a good surprise.
(01:48:38):
This is not a surprise ending, or it's not even
a surprise ending. But there's not even a plot twist.
In Houston, apparently there's a clash of styles Blue Brewing,
where you had Chris Paul having spirited discussions with Mike
D'Antoni about the offense and pushing the ball. I wanted
for pushing for more movement League sources told The Athletic
that type of fast paced, ball moving offense is what
(01:49:00):
D'Antoni thrived in in Phoenix, and the two time Coach
of the Year credit to his credit, had adapted in
Houston to allow Harden to succeed. But after Game six,
there's a verbal back and forth between James Harden and
Chris Paul that went into locker room, and sources with
knowledge to the closest situation told the Athletic that there
was a verbal exchange between Harden and Paul regarding bald distribution.
(01:49:21):
Of course, by the time that everybody's ready to talk,
Paul and Harden call their separate ways. Paul was at
the podium and Harden was intre Street close probably had
a two way strip club. So this is the most
like Mike d'antoni's team coming up short in the playoffs.
Could you have seen it coming? Yep? James Harden over
(01:49:44):
dribbling the basketball and it rubbing some players the wrong
way for his style of offense. Could you see it coming?
Keep Chris Paul thinking he knows the better way to
play basketball. Could you see it coming? Yep, yeah, yep.
(01:50:08):
And the Houston Rockets that like to live and die
by analytics, dying by analytics two years in a row.
Could you see it coming? Yep, this is the opposite
of an m Night Shamlan movie, utterly and completely predictable.
The question is how do you get out of it?
(01:50:28):
And now then it just becomes like a bad, you know,
bad movie. But I could be entertained knowing I know
the outcome. Yes, Ryan Music. I guess if you're a
Rockets fan, the only thing that saves gives you a
little bit of hope in this situation was the fact
(01:50:49):
that or is the fact that Darryl Morey is known
for being this salary cap expert. So if anyone can
sort of figure out how to move some numbers, trade
some contract and sort of figure out a new way
to reinvent this team, I guess you could convince yourself
that it's him above anyone else, right, no, no doubt.
I mean I've I've heard people saying we had to
(01:51:09):
people on the show today say, well, you know that contract,
Chris Paul's contracts untradable, like really Joe Johnson's contract. Um,
Joe Johnson's contract was untradable, like really, Joe Johnson got
traded twice with untradable contracts. It can be done. Now
you're gonna have to swallow hard. You have to find
(01:51:29):
the right partners and the right team, and you know,
but it can be done. Moscow's deal is untradable and
he was traded, uh lou all ding. I think they
end up buying out and buying out. But no contracts untradable,
no one's unfireable, No contracts untradable, no one's untouchable. Have
(01:51:54):
you guys seen so the Chris Long things kind of
taken on a life. It's of its own right because
Crystal one on Dan Patrick yesterday and admitted to smoking
marijuana at various times through his career than he he
calls me out. I was just having fun with him.
As the kids say, put you on blast, as the
kids say, he did, he put me on blast. Look,
(01:52:17):
I think the smart part of the discussion is this,
do you really need to change the policy which doesn't
affect people who understand the policy. I'm I'm with him
in regards to I would rather have guys smoke smoke
a joint, especially in states where it's legal smoke a joint,
(01:52:39):
then take opioids. I just would. Um, so I completely
understand that stands now. Of course you're gonna have guys
that would abuse the privilege of it, but you're gonna
have regular citizens who abuse the privilege of smoking weed
or whatever. But the the the NFL doesn't actually stipulate
(01:53:07):
that marijuana, I mean, the drug testing policy allows marijuana
to be used during the season. All you have to
do is passed an initial recreational drug test. That's all
you gotta do. And if you do that, they don't
even test you for it. So we're kind of calling
for them to stop a policy which if you actually
(01:53:27):
know how the policy is written and how it's adjudicated,
I think is the word, how it's enacted, Um, you don't.
It's not that big a deal, it really isn't. It's
not that intrusive. They're not drag net. We're gonna get
(01:53:50):
chriss on. We'll talk about it some more. The NFL's
best offense is still getting better. I'll explain how next.

(01:54:59):
years ago? This is David. Do you like that so much?
I like Doug's oppression of Tom tom broc here what
David in Los Angeles? David years later? How do you feel? No? No, no,
I'm doing my tom brocomm interviewing David. How do you feel? Uh?
(01:55:22):
One two three? No? This is David. David, how do
you feel? Five years later tom Brocom, please answer the
question I feel old older. Next question, Okay, what do
you what do you have? You started the show with
(01:55:43):
a couple of different things. One was the Houston Rockets
and another thing was Drake. Check this out, but Vada
is now taking prop bets on your entertainer. Will Drake
keep his hands to himself? Is currently the favorite with
no sitting at minus three fifty and yes, I'll pay
you out at MMM. If you're betting on Drake's hands
(01:56:06):
and keeping them to himself, does that mean he can't
touch a coach or he can't touch other people. I'm
assuming it's other people because it just says hands to himself.
I would I would say no at hand, he'll touch
other people. Mine a lot of juice. Uh. We go
from Drake to the National Football Patrick Mahomes and the
(01:56:27):
Kansas City Chiefs apparently do not want to stop. Mahomes
said that the Chiefs have already made significant additions to
their playbook this offseason. He was quoted as saying, we've
added a lot. We'll never stop adding plays here. That's
the best thing about this team, this offense. We're never
satisfied with where we're at. We'll always try to get better,
finding way us to get better as a team and
(01:56:47):
as an offense. And quotes, do you do you know
a team that's like now, we're good exactly where we are?
Maybe Tennessee. Do they have Do they have Tyreek Hill?
He's on the roster. Are they gonna have Tyreek Hill
day one of the season. I believe they will. You
think they will? What's going on? I don't. I don't
think there's any way he plays week ones. Um. I
(01:57:11):
would say if they don't have Tyreek Hill, that offense
is gonna look very different no matter how many plays are.
Travis Kelsey is still there. Majan might take top off defense.
That's true, true, that true dead we go from Kansas
City to New York. Adam Gaze talking to the media
today about his quote unquote favorite running back Levyan Bell.
How do I just go back to leby on for
(01:57:32):
a second or speculation you guys might trade him for
the season even starts. That's ridicult team within the realm
the most the first time I've heard of that. That's
not going to happen. No, Like we already paid him.
We're gonna pay him money eight million dollars to trade him.
That is really yeah. I don't get that one either.
What's less like could happened Lebron be traded? Leby On
(01:57:53):
Bell be traded? Uh? What was the other one? And
another one? James Harden win Defensive Player of the Year.
I would say that's actually the third most like. I
think that speaking of James hard In the twenty nineteen
all NBA teams were renounced. James Harden is a part
of the first team with along with Janice Curry, Paul George,
(01:58:16):
Nicole Yokich, second team and be Durant Lillard, Kawhi Leonard
and Kyrie Irving, and the third team Russell Westbrook, Blake Griffin, Lebron,
Rudy Gilbarrett and also Kemba Walker of Charlotte. Why is
Russell Westbrook there? Because you have a trouble double shot
(01:58:36):
terrible centers from low from the free tow line, like
down from free to linea percentage from three. I don't know.
So who would you put there over Russell? Would you
put McCollum, Clay Thompson? I would put Clay probably, Yeah,
I put Clay all right enough? You know we we
fall in love with the stats, by stats, he's the
greatest player ever just sort of where if you go
(01:58:57):
by by stats over Oscar Robinson. Yes, he's done three
consecutive years in an arrow, which no one has done
it for thirty years, forty years? What else major League Baseball?
And we go that way. We'll stay away from Mannheim
the time. Please, uh Yankees they play CC Sabathi on
the ten day Angelists yet again, and also Jihan Culo
Stanton had a minor setback in a minor league game.
(01:59:18):
He was back on the ten day Angelist as well.
New York Yankee is still at one of the top
marks though in the American League, especially American League East.
When they caught the Tampa bay Rays, you're on the mark.
That was some soul. They're two and a half games
in front of Tampa in the American League East. Home
run in San Francisco. Tyler Austin, If that's not a
(01:59:43):
white guy name, I don't know what is Tyler Austin.
There is not a black person on the earth named
Tyler Austin. Man. By the way, Angels bases loaded second
straight inning, bases loaded with two outs, who's coming up?
I mean, somebody who's gonna strike out? Doesn't happened the
inn the last inning, the no name Angels, Coppy's trying
(02:00:05):
to make a comeback bottom eight nine to six runners
at first and second. Roger that there's usually a time
in the year where people pay attention to the NBA.
It's usually at Christmas time. What is it for you? Like,
when do you start going to major league games? Major
League Baseball already been to the Major leagueme Dodgers or Angels, Dodgers,
Dodgers went to went to a Dodger game. What about
(02:00:27):
back in New York? Do you go back and see
the Yankees are Mets at all? Uh? No, generally miserable.
I mean I haven't been back to New York, but
when we lived back there, we went. We went once
in April or something, or maybe in May, early May.
It was miserable, so cold, it was like, oh, this
is awful, speaking to be an awful You want a
cespitous underwent ankle surgery today for the New York Mets.
(02:00:48):
He was already recovering from some torn ligaments. He is
officiy out for the rest of twenty nineteen. He don't
he going? Yeah, the big question is whether or not
they can get back his salary. They still him another
year and he had been hurt most of his career.
Cole Calhoun, by the way, col Cahoun is the angel,
the left handed angel who's likely to strike out at
the end of this hitting for the end. He st
(02:01:09):
he struck out last time. Basis the same guy. Yeah,
and he laces one right up the middle and the
shift works. Did you guys see rich Hill last night?
With the shift? They bunted out of the shift and
he was so rich Hill is awesome. Rich Hill should
be biked up for every game ever because that guy
(02:01:32):
drops a lot of f bombs. There was a lot
button the other way went to the shift. Um National
Football League news Buccaneers have reached an agreement to get
defensive tackle the Doma Kung Su one year deal worth
nine point to five million dollars. This is like mercenary football. Mercenary,
I think Darrell Rivas right, yeah, yeah, he went from
(02:01:55):
sixteen point million to nine point two. Huh yeah. Are
you a taxis guy? The guy? Uh yeah, I guess
the no no stated income taxing in Florida, Okay, would
be an interesting Division A plan as well. Yeah, we'll like, well,
we'll see. You know, they got rid of General McCoy,
who's a tremendous player and was gonna make thirteen millions,
so they saved some money and got a similar player
(02:02:17):
get out there and pressed. That was the press. Who
wins tonight? Ryan Music to Milwaukee. Oh it's obvious it's
gonna be the Bucks. Yeah, I'm going with you on
the Bucks. What about you there, Aramos, Milwaukee Gas for
the Milwaukee for the Sea. We're all going with the
hometown Bucks, except for Dan. I think we want we
we we need Milwaukee to win this series. Then funny
