Speaker 1 (00:00):
The results are in a survey of INK five thousand
companies shows the top barriers to growth. It's taking finance
too long to close the books, so slow to launch
new products. We need to hire good people and keep them.
Too many disconnected systems. I can't see what's happening in
my business. Sounds like they've outgrown their business and financial
management systems. Quick books and spreadsheets worked fine at the start,

(00:22):
but now it takes twice the effort to get things
done and you can't get accurate answers. You should know
the number one system for growing companies. Net Suite from
Oracle net Sweet is the one system that tracks and
manages revenue, cash flow, HR, inventory projects, even e commerce
for every industry. Now you can run your business from

(00:43):
a dashboard on your phone. That's why thousands of companies
use NetSuite. It's the only system you need to run
your business. Go to NetSuite dot com slash fast to
get your free guide called Crushing the five Barriers to Growth.
That's NetSuite dot Com slash Fast. Don't listening sports? What Up?

(01:06):
It's the dug Ott Leave Show Fox Sports Radio Today.
Coming to you from the Land of Enchantment. You gotta admit,
you gottadmit. Like, look, New Mexico is known for um
some beautiful Vista's Santa fe um meth right, I mean
like it's because of one TV show, because of Breaking Bad.

(01:29):
It's known from math Uh but uh, you know in
all the um those those nicknames robmost is that whether
you'd call them night or is that monikers? What are
those calling? When you say California is the Golden State?
Is that the nickname? What is that? What is that
actually called? Yeah? I think I think a nickname is
fine because it isn't California is the Golden State. That's
what it is, the gold state. But I don't think

(01:49):
that's technically a nickname, right, like Golden state? Like right
name for something else? Correct? Music? Music? Do you want
to hop in on this exactly what that's called? Uh?
Let's see. I just typed it into Google and the
first thing that came up was California state nickname. Yeah,
but see I always thought like nickname was the name, right,
Like my name's Ryan. Everybody calls me Jimmy. That's my nickname. Why,

(02:12):
I don't know, it's just my nickname? Right? My name
is California everybody calls me the Golden State. I don't
think that's a nickname. It's like a nick nick uh
series of names of words together. I don't know. Anyway,
Land of Enchantment is pretty amazing, right, let's just be honest. Um,
that's like, you know, some guys have nick You know,
guy's last name Smith, their nickname is always smitty. Guys

(02:36):
whose last name is Murf, their nickname Murphy, the nickname
is always Murf. Right, But then there are some guys
that have just great nicknames. Um, what was the what
was the running back for pit Ironhead Hayward? Like, now
that's a nickname, that's a nickname. So I mean like, look,

(02:57):
you have the Constitution State and the Golden State, and
Florida is the Sunshine State. New Mexico is the Land
of Enchantment. Like that's the iron Head of Haywood. Of
of nicknames. Anyway, Welcome in Snug Gotlip Show, Fox Sport Tradio.
And there is a growing trend, a growing chend of

(03:17):
coordinator changes in the National Football League. It's really kind
of remarkable. Um, if you looked overnight, Darryl Bevel was
fired by the Seattle Seahawks and now it appears that
they're gonna change their defensive coordinator as well. Um Bob
Sutton retired with the Kansas Chiefs. They lost Naggy to

(03:39):
the Chicago Bears. And this comes on the back of
heels of yesterday. Ken Dorsey, Remember Ken Dorsey from Miami
played a little bit in the NFL. Ken Dorsey was
the quarterback coach in Carolina and Mike Shula was the
offensive coordinator in Carolina. They were both let go and
and this this honestly a lot of it from hinds me.

(04:00):
I'm not saying that that some coordinators aren't inept. They
are and there's a litany of quality coordinators. You know,
Mike Petton is up for a job. He's a former
defensive coordinators the head coach with Cleveland Browns. Chuck Pogano,
of course, was defense coordinate with the Ravens, was talking
to him going back to the Ravens after being fired
by the Indianapolis Colts. I'm not saying that some of

(04:21):
some good coordinators aren't out there and that they wouldn't
improve the fortunes. But for example, in Carolina, it does
feel a little bit like, hey, there's a problem with
the plumbing in the house. There's a problem with the
infrastructure in the house. You know, your your foundation is cracking.
Somebody goes, yea, let's just go and um, repaint the
front door. Let's go and take off the wallpaper and

(04:44):
paint every room in the house. Right, there's cosmetic redo.
And that's what you're seeing in a lot of these
places is a cosmetic redo. Like I'm sorry, but the
Seattle Seahawks um the Seahawks and and Buyers a huge
Seahawks fan as well as in fact he covers our

(05:06):
NFL previous show here on Fox Sports Radio. I mean,
Dan Buyer can attest to this. The Seahawks, they can
change defensive coordinators all they want, but like they're so
screwed up with not just the personalities, but the injury
age and overall dysfunction because of salaries on that salaries

(05:28):
on that roster. It doesn't matter who you bring in.
Doesn't matter who you bring in. Darryl Bebo gone, Chris
Richard gone, And like Chris Richard was a guy who's
really well respected. Twelve season in the NFL. I've been
with the Seahawks in the previous regime. You know, and
now now he's out, and so sometimes I think what

(05:49):
this is is, uh, people do this when they're selling
a house. Is they they blame the realtor, like, yeah,
but your house just isn't worth what you think your
house is worth. You know, you do this when you
settle a lawsuit, like man that that lawyer killed me
or or you were guilty. So I look around the

(06:12):
NFL and one of the trends, you know that the
trend continues to bring in a quarterback guru to be
a head coach, to work with the quarterbacks and to
not upset the quarterbacks. Um, but in Carolina especially, like,
do I think Mike Mike Shoulder is great? Probably not.
But I also think he's dealing with the fact that

(06:32):
he's got an a ratic quarterback, the guy who's better
running it than he is throwing it. A guy who's
got a strong arm and a strong personality, but is
not strong in terms of accuracy. And they changed personnel
mid season on him, as you know, they went away
from Calvin Benjamin and went to a smaller group of
wide receivers. Plus he didn't have Greg Olsen. It's like

(06:54):
I thought Mike Shoulder was the offensive coordinator when they
when he won the m v P and they had
a dominant run game and a better offense line Like
now suddeny stinks that the truth has to be somewhere
in the middle. So I'm reasonable to think that not
all of these guys you know can can tell you
the pythagram theorem. Like I'm reasonable to believe that some
guys are just in over their head. But when I

(07:15):
see wholesale changes two teams that underachieved or things don't
go along smoothly, um, and it's two coordinators, it signals
to me that the head coach is powerful. That that's
what happened in in Carolina as their head coach got
an extension. Well that's what's happened in Kansas City as

(07:37):
Andy reads not go anywhere like look and we be
critical of Bob Sutton as he retires or critical of
Nagy before he leaves. But like Andy Reechs, teams have
always sucked in the playoffs. And and the Chris Richard
thing is just odd to me because he seemed to
be the one guy that could keep this group together,
as dysfunctional as they may have been. You lose camp

(08:00):
answer used Richard Sherman, plus he lose Cliff April and
you lose all the guys. They've lost a free agency
over the past couple of years, and somehow they kept
it together and put themselves at least in position with
a disastrous offensive line, uh to be, you know, one
win away from being in the playoffs. Like I actually
think they might have done a better job coaching this

(08:21):
year than they've done in previous years. Like this is
what happens. The offensive line is the disaster, and so
Darryl Buzzer gets fired. So it's kind of fascinating time
in the NFL where people are repainting doors, people are
changing curtain rods, people are are cleaning out wallpaper, and

(08:42):
they're not getting into just gutting a house and redoing it.
We thought for sure the Seahawks would be gutting it,
and they seem to be doing a cosmetic redo more
than digging into the issues. Um got some great sound
for you if you missed up. Rich Eisen Show had
Trent Dilferron amazing sound on TA and what he thinks

(09:04):
will happen with TOA as well as kind of what
we talked about with him on Josh ro don't want
to bring that back for you. Big night in college
basketball both last night tonight tonight you got Nova taken
on Xavier. Uh. That to me. We'll tell you all
you need to know about what you don't understand with
the value of success in college athletics as it translates

(09:27):
to the actual dollars of college athletics. So I want
to get to I want to get to that today
as well. Plus we're getting ready for the NFL playoffs.
It seems like a formality. It does, Like does anyone
out there truly believe that the Titans will go into
New England and win? Anybody like how much? What would

(09:52):
the odds have to be in order for you to
bet ten dollars? Like you bet hundred dollars and you
might have a hundred of one better thousand dollars right,
because I mean you went a hundred thousand dollars, But
to bet ten thousand, but ten thousand dollars up? What
would your odds have to be to bet on the

(10:12):
Tennessee Titans straight up against the doing of Patriots. Because
we can talk lines and and Friday, I'll make my picks,
and my picks were pretty good last week, hopefully to
be pretty good this week as well. Rama's how much
money would you have to make putting up ten because
if you lose ten thousand dollars, that's losing a lot
of money, right, that's a lot of money. What would
your odds have to be to to not not not

(10:35):
the line? The money line? Straight up? Take the Tennessee Titans? Uh,
Like a hundred to one one, like I would have.
It would have to be like the Titans would have
to be like Tom Brady would have to be out
of the game, Like if he was out of the game,

(10:55):
I would take the Titans. No, No, Tom Brady is
not out of there. I know he's not. But music,
what about you? Hundred of one? Is that? I mean
that that's You're never gonna get a hundred to one odds? Yeah.
I just don't think there are any logical amount of
odds available that I would even be willing to risk that.
I just think it's a losing bet no matter how
you look at it, if both teams are at full strength.

(11:18):
All right, here's what I want to do. Charlie Weis
is gonna join us up coming next I'll ask him,
can he see a scenario in which, barring Tom Brady
getting injured to doing, the Patriots don't win this weekend
against the Tennessee Titans. Plus I want to ask him
about Nick Saban. Um. I do think we're getting a
little bit lost in. Saban has been incredible and I
think we'll continue to be incredible. Urban Meyer hasn't exactly

(11:39):
been bad like all of a sudden out Like when
urban Meyer won the National change of a couple of
years ago with the third string quarterback. He was the goat.
And this is a little bit like the tennis goat, right, Remember,
like Federer was the goat and they're like, no, no no, wait,
Rafaela Dolls to goat. No, no wait, Djokovic is a goat.
No no, it's stay Dollygant. No, no, it's Feders back
to being the goat. That's a little bit like college football.
Saban wins, You're like, oh, Savans are greatest of all time. Meanwhile,

(12:01):
Erton Meyerson, they're going like, wait a second, hold on
won a bowling green, undefeated Utah National Championships at Florida
National Championship at all howse State another undefeated season of
House State, Like I'm still in this discussion, aren't I
I want to ask Charlie Weist about coaching at one
of these prestigious historic programs and why Saban has not
only been able to do it, but had great longevity

(12:23):
in doing it. Alright, that's upcoming next. But first, guys,

(13:51):
coordinator and of course, former head coach Notre Dame in
Kansas quarterback guru Charlie Wise joins us in the Doug
out Leap Show Fox Sports Radio. Uh, Charlie, thanks you
so much for taking time with this. I want to
talk a little college, little pros. We get ready for
UH divisional playoff weekend, but let's start with the National
Championship game on Monday. UM, all your thoughts to the

(14:12):
decision from Nick Staban which look, obviously now it's being
champion and it worked but to go in the lockerman
halftime and pull his two year starting quarterback for a
freshman who had played, but it never started a game.
We'll see. I'm a little my view is a little
tainted because you know, my kid had been there for
the last two years. Doug and I watched, you know,

(14:33):
I've watched, you know, I've watched this quarterback situation very closely.
And the one thing, although although the record is and two,
you know, with with him at the quarterback position, okay,
he struggled, you know, pretty much the whole time at
reading coverages down the field. So it's no big shocker

(14:58):
that that on on timing throws, on timing throws that
you know, he sometimes it looks a little bit look
at deer and headlights. The thing is, the kid is
such a good runner. When a play breaks down, often
he's being don't be able to turn it into something good.
But now you go against the front line defense like Kirby's,

(15:21):
and you know that that no longer works because there's
guy's waiting for the play breaking down and for you know,
to make a tackle on you um to when they
brought him in from why everyone in the country knew
that the one big difference between the two quarterbacks was
that this kid is a pup for a young guy,

(15:41):
was a polished passer. So whereas I think it was
a gutsy move by Nick to do it based off
an evidence of the first half, I think I think
that the decision wasn't nearly as difficult as everyone thinks
it was. It's funny. I think caculate Bruce arians told
me yesterday, you know, he was over the box lot
and he's like, he didn't have a choice, didn't didn't

(16:02):
didn't have a choice. Um, what about George's play calling,
especially in the fourth quarter, Tono Michelle doesn't get the
ball And I know everybody loves the direct snap stuff
because now you know, you put your quarterback out wide
and it becomes you know, eleven and eleven football. Um,
but you know from was throwing it pretty well. He
actually as a freshman, has shown the ability through play

(16:22):
action to look pretty good in the pocket, and they
went away from kind of their true running game as
they as a as a long time play color. What
was your reaction, I think you try to get a
little bit too tricky, That's what I thought. I mean,
you know, just uh I thought they had him on
the ropes, and you know, they had a chance. They
did have a chance of putting them away, because those

(16:44):
two running backs for Georgia are really good. Now they're
not just other guys. Those guys will play on Sundays
and will play for a lot of years too, you know,
and problems problem has been more than just a team manager.
I mean he hasn't just managed the game. I mean
this this guy's this guy played very well. So I
thought that they tried to get a little they tried

(17:04):
to get a little bit too tricky. Um, look, you
coached it your own motor, a historic program, but the
sustainability was really hard. And Notre Dame it's been really hard.
And I've tried to explain to people that Notre Dame
is a is an institution which there's a lot of
other factors that do work, that work for it and
work against it. But I think you can even appreciate

(17:25):
it's not just that Saban is one. It's the consistency
in which he's one with with kind of a turnstyle
at coordinators, right, like Kirby used to be this guy
and he had lane and you know, like you go
around the country and all the you know, if you
get knighted once you're there with Saban for the most part,
and you get a head coaching job. And here's here's
here's the key point. Here's the key point. Here's what

(17:49):
he's been able to do that no one else can do.
You know, kids today in high school are very selfish.
They want to go somewhere where they are the guys,
you know, five star guys. There are the guys everyone's
kissing their butt. You're gonna go in there, and you're
the guy. Show me the depth chart, show me where
I show me where I stand. What Nick has been

(18:13):
able to do is he's been able to get five
star kids to commit to go in when there's five
star kids ahead of them. Where most of those kids
go somewhere where there's no one ahead of them. So
that's why he always has the churney out of five
star kid after five star kids. How many teams have

(18:33):
two quarterbacks like those two guys. You have a guy
who's twenty five and two and you pull him for
a guy who looked clearly better. I mean, are you
kidding me? I mean? And it's like that he's going
through three signal callers on defense three? Okay, did they
look like much of a drop off and performance of

(18:55):
the defense? That is the key and is the coordinators. Nick.
Nick will always be able to attract top, top coordinators.
It's to talent that he's able to attract. Very Sulden.
Can people attract five star kids to come sit on
the bench behind five star kids, But he's been able

(19:16):
to do it. How does he compared to Urban? For example?
They're similar, There's just more of them in Alabama. I mean,
I'd say Urban is the only one at this stage
who's in that same class. Now, maybe Kirby's on the
come on this, you know what I'm saying. But Kirby

(19:36):
doesn't look like he's far behind here now. But I'm
saying right now, if you had to go you know, one, one,
and two, Okay, it would clearly be Nick and Urban
because Urban has done that for a long time himself.
Charlie White joining us in the Dug Galt Show here
on Fox Sports Radio. All right, let's let's go to
the NFL this weekend. I'm trying to imagine a scenario

(19:57):
outside of the disastrous one we which Tom Brady gets hurt.
Wish the Titans could go in and beat the Patriots
in New England. Can you see one? It would have
to be a bunch of turnovers. Because without a bunch
of turnovers, I can't see it happening, you know, because
look at Patriots defense doesn't have really a front line,

(20:21):
a frontline guy in the front seven or there have been,
but don't break defense. But they're going against an offense
that's marginal at best. I mean, Tennessee is not gonna
score a bunch of points. I look at that same
that same quarterback at Alabama. I watched for two years. Well,
I watched the big boy number twenty two, Henry I
watched him win the Heisman Trophy. And and what how

(20:44):
he won the Heisman Trophy is in the first half
he'd rush for about thirty yards. In the second half
he'd run rush for about a hundred and fifty yards. Okay,
so um. I mean he's a tough guy, and they
they'll try to play ball control and all that other stuff.
But you gotta score points to beat the Patriots. And
I just don't see it happening unless there, Unless there's

(21:07):
a bunch of turnovers by the Patriots, I don't I don't.
I don't see anyway it goes any other way. That's
how the Jacksonville Jaguars beat this Dealers the first time
five interceptions from Ben Roethlisberger. Aren't they gonna need a
similar type of thing? What is it about the Jaguars
defense which which gave Big Ben trouble last time? Don't

(21:27):
I watched that game. Don't count on that happening again.
I mean Ben not He had a bad day and
some of those sometimes the picts were pressure. Sometimes you
just threw them right to him. I mean you can
count on Ben having a good day. I mean I
think that. I think you'll see a different stealer team
in this matchup versus the Jacksonville this time. Uh, the

(21:50):
Carolina Panthers have decided to jettison Dorsey and Shula their
offensive coording to their quarterback coach. And uh, this comes
the year in which their quarterback. Don't if you sell
these numbers, Cam Newton eight times under a seventy pass rating,
four times over one. How much in your mind was
it quarterback? How much was the personnel? How much of

(22:11):
it was the guys in his years making the play calls? Well,
I think that I think that at the end of
the day, when you have a quarterback like Cam Newton, Okay,
you're gonna you're gonna play to what Cam Newton does?
You know, because Cam Newton is not the same as
Drew Brees. I mean you watch those two quarterbacks, okay,

(22:34):
you know who who've both been m v P caliber
players at certain stages of the career. I mean Cam
is a you know, throws off his back foot. You know,
his fundamentals are all screwed up. But you know anytime
he pulls, he pulls the ball down. You know he
can run for fifty yards. I mean, he's exciting to

(22:55):
watch him when he's on. When he's on, they're tough
to beat. When he's off, he's way off. Can you
can you fix that with Can you fix that with
play colleague? Like? Can you? Because I mean I agree,
like he's just when you get seven years day and
you're you're consistently consistent, that's who you are. No one's
doubting the talent when he's on, is there? Is there?

(23:16):
All you have to adjust? You have to adjust quickly
in a game on when it's a bad day. You know,
you know, too many play callers wait till halftime to adjust.
You can't wait a halftime with the guys having a
bad day. You better change. You better change in the
first quarter because if not, you're gonna get the craft
kicked out of you. Um. Drew Brees and the Saints

(23:39):
have traditionally been better at home. Now they're built a play.
He's better in the dome. Doesn't affect his his arm strength,
but that that's a team that's faster in the dome.
Now they're going on a road, but they're going on
the road playing in a dome in Minnesota against the
very talented defense. Is their defense just as good because
it's on turf and in the dome? Or is it
something specifically playing in New Orleans that makes them it? Is?

(24:02):
Whose defense just as good? Offense? Excuse me, the Saints
offense is the offense. If you look at the number,
they're there are a good indoor to indoor team because
but Drew was because Drew is such an accurate pastor.
I mean, and he's one of the more accurate pastors
in the NFL. That's why he's strong for close for

(24:24):
five thousand yards multiple times. But at the end of
the day, I mean this is not an ordinary defense.
There's they're they're going against this Minnesota defense. This Minnesota
defense has a rocket and Roland Okay, I you know,
I think that, you know. I think New Orleans, who
you know this year has won games more by being complementary,

(24:48):
including running the football okay, which was never part of
their m O in the past. I think they're coming
against a very formidable opponent winner going against the Spike defense.
Do you think Nick Foles was could be fixed in
that week off? I mean, the offense was just not firing. Hey,
I'm rooting against him. My kids in Atlanta, you know,

(25:10):
you know so I'm biased, as you know, we've talked
about it. You know, my kid works for the Falcons.
I hope Nick is one more bad day. But is
that Are his issues with that offense? Are they fixable
with simply a week off because they tried to play
them for a short period of time? The answer is yes.
Did you watch two weeks before that when they played

(25:31):
the Giants? But it was the Giants and they're terrible,
Like they tried to play. They tried to get a
couple of good series out of him in Week seventeen,
and they couldn't do it. And you know, now you
get a week off and I don't. I don't, I
don't care if you're playing playing the worst college team

(25:51):
in the country. Okay, four touchdown passes. You know, when
they were behind in the game and he had to
come back and throw a touchdown passes, he's capable of
doing it. He is capable of doing it. Great stuff, Charlie. Charlie,
can't tell you how much I love calling on you
for your for your information. By the way, uh, Charlie
is a great charity. It's called Hannah and Friends is

(26:13):
named after Charlie's daughter Hannah. Simply go to Hannah and
Friends dot org for more information in regards to that. Uh,
to to the charity organization. Charlie, thanks so much for
joining us. Really appreciate it. Alright, pleasures mind the great Charlie.
Weis joining us as conditions on the field change. So
can your insurance needs. Talk with the farmer's agent today

(26:34):
so you can assess whether your policy is game ready.
Find an agent at farmers dot com. All right, I
need a sip of waters. Let's bring in dan by
it take a couple of SIPs, Doug, because there's a
lot going on in the National Football League. Tennessee Titans
have ruled out running back to Marco Murray for their
playoff games Saturday against the New England Patriots. Murray missing

(26:57):
practice earlier today because of the knee injury that kept
him out towards the end of the season and in
that playoff game against Kansas City last week. So Derrick
Henry once again shoulder the load for the Tennessee running game.
Seahawks every port of the fired offensive coordinator Darryl Bevil.
That's according to Pro Football Talk, and AM in Seattle
is saying that Chris Roshard is out as defensive coordinator now.

(27:18):
As for the offensive side of the ball, Falcons head
coach Dan Quinn so there was zero chance that his
offensive coordinator, Steve Sarkisian would leave the Falcons from the
now vacant Seahawks gig Packers officially naming Joe Philman as
the team's offensive coordinator and Mike Petton as the team's
defensive coordinator. While some good news at Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker
Ryan shays Here was able to attend the team's practice today,

(27:39):
his first since injuring his spine last month in a
game against Cincinnati. Shazier did watch the practice in a wheelchair.
There was a report last week from his father saying
that Shesier has regained feeling in his legs, but his
father wouldn't comment on whether the linebacker would was able
to walk. Alabama wide receiver Calvin Ridley, running back both Scarborough,
and defensive tackle Dronan all heading to the NFL Draft,

(28:02):
while Crimson Tod running back Damian Harris staying in Tuscaloosa.
Clippers forward Blake Griffin out tonight against the Warriors Doug
because of a concussion. All right, there's other news from
the NFL, several meter reports. And I got this on
my phone while I was talking with Charlie h. Gus
Bradley is gonna stay in San Diego as their defensive coordinator.
Of course, Gus Bradley close with Uh, close with Pete Carroll,

(28:25):
and the Seahawks need a defensive coordinator, as you know,
Dan uh and the Chicago Bears. Uh Naggy of course
got the job yesterday, offered, you know, talked to Bradley
about coming on as their defense According as the former
head coach of jacksonvill Jaguashon's gonna remain with the l
A Chargers. That's a big win for the Chargers. Who also,
did you see who they signed a day buyer? Yes? Uh,

(28:47):
Roberto Iguayo. Robertoguayo right, which to which I said, Hey,
he needs to take all the change in his left
pocket and move into his right pocket and then put
that What was the other line from Tin Cup? Right?
Didn't you put the t behind your left ear? Yeah?
I even't seen tin come in a while. You're a
huge golf guy. We're going down to the Farmers Open

(29:09):
where Tiger is gonna make his uh his return to
the PGA tour. Um, is that your favorite golf what's
your favorite golf movie? And don't go Caddis Jack out here?
You gonna say caddih Jack. Um. No, I'm actually gonna
be really probably cheesy with this. Um. I always watched
the Legend of Beggar Vance when um when it comes

(29:29):
on TV. That was with Matt Damon and Will Smith
and um, isn't isn't is Morgan Freeman in that too? No? No,
Will Smith? Yes, yes, but I will always I will
always watch That's something about it because Bobby, there's you know,
a character playing Bobby Jones and one playing Walter Hagen
and um, yeah, there's just something about it. Maybe it's

(29:51):
like theistical sort of thing. It's it's really really good.
Um alright, anyway, great stuff, tons of information, fire have
you top in the middle of the hour. Plus he's
gonna rejoin as or with a game which he's working
on in uh in like tennis. This the Doug Otlip
Show Fox Sports Radio. I saw this article and um, uh,
it's kind of interesting what Mark Cuban is saying. Mark

(30:12):
Cuban said, quote the only thing left for LaVar Ball
to do is put on a dress. Uh. He wasn't
as critical as LaVar Ball as many others in the
NBA though, if you read kind of if you read
all his comments, he was talking about LaVar Ball and
how he's being followed around by ESPN, and he he
he actually liked him. To Dennis Rodman, there's an old

(30:34):
saying in the stock game that you go loud and
go long. LaVar Ball just keep saying crazy stuff to
stay relevant. He's actually good for the n b A
in a perverse way because it gets the casual fans attention.
Is Dennis Rodman all over again. The only thing left
for LaVar Ball to do is put on a dress. Um, yeah,

(30:55):
I guess the difference is that this is a big
difference is Dennis Robin was a great player. Right when
he started going acting crazy and dyeing his hair, he
was still the best rebounder and one of the best
defenders in the NBA, and early on the NBA he
was just an incredible energetic defender and wasn't nearly the

(31:15):
rebounder he became in terms of the numbers. Right, So
there was at least a substantive part of Dennis Rodman.
Now you can sit sit there and go like, okay,
what about the Kardashians. I would say the substantive part
is Kim Kardashian's beautiful. That's it, right, I mean, that

(31:38):
is it in a nutshell, And Kim Kardashian would smartly,
you know, date and Mary, and they'd all date and
marry somebody who was at least partially and then you know,
then there's the Bruce. Now, um, what's Bruce Jenner's name? Now, Um,
Caitlyn Jenner? Like there was that side story to it, right.
The Kardashians also the late Robert Kardado Mahon was the

(32:01):
attorney for O. J. Simpson, Like, there are other interesting
elements to it which initially brought your attention. And Seacrest
is the executive producer, and Seacrest is kind of like
the he had to kind of the Midas touch in
those type of reality shows. None of these things apply
to LaVar, so yeah he has. He is a carnival

(32:22):
barker that is getting our attention and that's winning. I
think the issue is is any of this actually helping
build his brand? And um is an ESPN actually the
one who's helping and build his brand. Like if he
simply does his thing and it's TMZ, it becomes the
TMZ story that's not his target market. But interesting that

(32:50):
that Cuban thinks it's actually good for the NBA because
it stirs up conversation for the average sports fan, which
brings attention to the NBA during the sular season, which
normally we don't pay all that much attention to. I mean, like, look,
you know what, that's the old Uh. Any publicity is
good publicity. I didn't know that old thing in the

(33:13):
stock game go loud and go long. Nick Saban has
had his eyes on the New York Giants head coaching job.
Is that real news or fake news? I'll tell you
of coming next. Progressive New Home Quote Explorer was built

(33:56):
come on, need somebody. Match dot com slash dog, that's
match dot com slash Dog. Do do do Do Do
Do Do Do do do do do? I was just
reading this. Uh there's um uh there's there's five stages
of love of reads online. I have no idea what
if this is a reputable website. Five stages of love

(34:17):
rams ready for it? I am ready? Is infatuation in
one of those five? Falling in love is number one.
Falling loft, becoming a couple, coupling, That's that's two. Disillusionment
is three. Creating real, lasting love and using The power
of two to change the world is stage five. Um yeah,

(34:39):
I think we just we just we we We went
to we went to four, we skipped three, we went
to four. Lasting love. I don't know what the disillusionment on. Well,
that's the that's the interesting one, right, This is the
stage when the relationship will find new strength and we'll
well or will falter rubber meets the road type thing.

(35:00):
The first glow of love is wearing away. That's the
infatuation wearing away. So you have disillusionment and it it
evaporates or it goes on and you get create real
rat lasting love. You've had it for eighteen years, you've
been married, But have you have you used it? The
power of two to change the world? Roumas I would
have to say no, but it was something to shoot

(35:21):
for it. Yeah. I don't think my radio show is
changing the world. I hope it gets you too, and
from wherever you're going or if you're sitting at your
desk you're listening to the podcast, I hope makes your
day better. But I'm not gonna sit here and be
such a jerk to think like, oh, we're changing the world.
Maybe we will. Let's do it with a game. Okay,
this is game time side on the Doug Gottlieb Show.

(35:46):
Fire by all right. The game we are playing today,
Doug is real news, fake news. Real news are fake news. Okay,
it's Doug's turn to try to decide or if it's
real or fake. Bild news are fake news, Doug, the
Green Bay Packers are bringing back Joe Philbin to be
their offensive coordinator again. I'm going real news and spectacular.

(36:12):
That is real news, as Philbin will be back after
a stint that saw him run the Packers offense from
two thousand seven to twenty eleven. It was after that
he took the Dolphins job. But what is of note here, Doug,
is that Aaron Rodgers had his best season as a
pro under filmin in that eleven season, passer rating over
a hundred and twenty two forty five touchdown passes that year,

(36:34):
just six interceptions. Um, okay, I do have there. I
have one stat that will help make the point of
why it's a fantastic higher, And I have one question.
I have the big question mark right Uh. The stat
that help make that make that higher is this, um,
excuse me. The the question mark is what year was
that when when Um, Aaron Rodgers had that great season

(36:59):
twenty love it. So we're talking about six years ago.
It'll be seven years ago right in going into next season.
Do you remember the name Matt Flynn? Yes? Do you
remember the Matt Flynn game? Yes? The Patriots actually two
of them as well. It was the Lions really the
one that made his career. So for people who forget
Matt Flynn was the backup quarterback for the Green Bay package.

(37:21):
He didn't play Week seventeen against the Lions, and he
had I think five touchdown passes, no interceptions, and he
signed a free agent deal with the Seattle Seahawks and
then he got beat out even though he's paid to
be the starter by Russell Wilson, third third round quarterback. Um,
if you can get Matt Flynn to throw five touchdown
passes and look like a starting quarterback, you can you

(37:43):
can be an offensive coordin in this league. I like
to hire. Real news are fake news. Doug Fox Sports
in center Jay Glazer said that former Arizona cardinal said
coach Bruce Arians told him he was messing with everyone
when Arians told Colin Cowhard yesterday that Nick Saban coveted
the Giants job. So did Bruce Arians make it up?
No spectacular? Yeah, well, Glazier said. Arians added that he

(38:07):
had no insight and was just having fun when saying
that Nick Saban would want the Giants job. So that
was That was a weird interview. You know, he if
you saw on TV, he might have missed on radio.
He actually cursed twice during the interview. Yes, yes he did.
I was hanging out with him, like he couldn't be
a greater guy, Like very interesting, insightful and whatever, but

(38:29):
like just throwing out there, yeah, hey he might be
after the Giants job, but you know, I got no
insight into it. And then cursing twice. That was weird.
That was really weird. Real news are fake news, Doug
Central Florida fans got their money together and posted the
billboard and Tuscan Loosa asking for a home and home
series with the Crimson Tide. Sounds like real spectacular. Travis

(38:52):
Ryer with the tweet showing the billboard reading quote, congratulations Alabama,
how about a home and home series with UCF And
then it also of shows Night's linebacker Shakim Griffin celebrating
a play from their Peach Bowl win over Auburn. So
u c F wants Obama in a home and home
You're good luck with that. I mean yeah, I mean

(39:13):
they could play now. I mean, look, the argument for
for Obama and the argument for the SEC teams is
it's not just that you have to play US, it's
that you have to play US. You have to play
l s U, you have to play Auburn, and you
have to play A and M, and you have to
play you know, Mississippisissippi State like that wears you down.
So I mean, I think it's I think it's great
trolling by UCF, great trolling by UCF. And in college

(39:34):
basketball because you can lose games early, I would say
go play them. And really, Alabama, you can go play them.
I mean they lost Scott Frost anyway, so whatever, But
it it doesn't appear to be happening. How about this
stat and I've saved this one. Do you know when
the last time Alabama played a true road game in

(39:54):
a non conference slate on their schedule, A true nonconference
road game. You could just give me a month in
the year. Heck, you can give me a year. I
don't care. They played Oklahoma on the road in two
thousand and seven. It was twenty eleven they had a

(40:16):
road game at Penn State, so a little bit more
recent than you thought. But in twenty eleven. September of
eleven was the last true road game Alabama play. They'll
play neutral site till the cowscome home, but they won't
go on the road, and they actually went north for
that game against Penn State. Yeah, there's there's a there's
an economics to it. I mean, like, look home and home.
You get to keep all the gate. Road games, you

(40:37):
don't keep any of the gate neutral site, you split
the gate and you probably probably get a little bit
more money than the other team. So it's not like
they duck and dodge people. They played good teams every year.
One good team for Ginia Tech played Florida State this year.
You know, Francois played and got hurt in that game,
so that that changed. But but it's also an opportunity
where they can fill up the stadium and because we

(40:57):
know well they travel and if you have a true
road game, they aren't able to do that. You don't
see an Oklahoma Ohio State series, you don't. I mean,
like that's that's something that I think we want to
see an Alabama just hasn't done it in the last
six years. Yeah, no, look, I get it, and I
get what the problem with it is. What Ohio states
states They're going like, what was the reward for playing

(41:19):
Oklahoma at home? Right? We lost Oklahoma and that kept
us out that Now the truth is he can't lose
the game up fifty five points to Iowa on the
road and expect to win national championship until you're allowed
to you know, two lost team gets in. Um, I
understand why they're doing it. It's a it's a screw system. Finally, Doug,

(41:40):
real news are fake news. The NBA suspended Cavis guard
is AA Thomas two games for his clothes line to
the neck of te Wolves guard Andrew Wiggins on Monday.
You are no no suspension, just a twenty thousand dollar
fine as he was immediately ejected after the play of
the te Wolves blowout with He's game time on The

(42:02):
Dug Gottlieb Show this season makes tough jobs easier with
the free loaner to a program from Auto Zone from
a C and engine repair to exhaust and break jobs.
Over a hundred specialty tools to we get the job
done right. Deposit is required getting the zone auto zone.
Too many people who are texting me and tweeting me.
I'm just fine. I just I had a little bit
of something where I felt like you ever get that,

(42:22):
you feel like it's coming on. It just went my
throat and uh, I'm fine. I mean I look amazing,
but I don't sound as amazing as I look. There's
a new trend in the NFL and it's been happening
for a few years now. You'll notice it in the
playoffs this weekend. I'll explain next what up to Doug
Gottlieb show Fox Sports Radio saw this article and um,

(42:46):
I was thinking of you, Yeah, you like me? Yeah?
You Now, look, there's there's a problem with there's a
little problem with the numbers, and I've been I got
sent this article to Day by Ryan Music and I thought,
I thought it was really interesting and it was from
the ringer guy named Kevin Clark, who we've had on before.
It's a really good job. And the title, um, there's

(43:10):
like a subtitle, right. The title is how the rising
salary cap explains the NFL playoffs. The subtitle is to
be successful in the modern NFL is to pick up
the latest league wide shift and adjut sooner than anyone else.
The latest change has made what was once um, I
don't know what this word is music. That's the problem. Like,

(43:31):
I really struggle. You sent me this article and like,
read this, it's really good, it'd be interesting to talk about.
And then I got stuck on a word A n
A th h e m a you wanna take a
shot at it? And nathium No, because there's an a
at the end, rahlmost do you know? Have you seen

(43:54):
this word? I have not? You spell it again though?
A N A t h e m A anathema anathema. Yeah,
that sounds right, anathema anathema unless a th hs like
hardness ana tema. But look the sentences. The latest change
has made what was once in anathema to success now

(44:15):
are pre requisite for it. Anna is the pre prefix
meaning anti, right, so this is the anti theme for
success is now a prerequisite. We know what prerequisite. You
have to have it pre before you're going to have success.
That's a good word. Prerequisite or anathema anathemasite. They're both

(44:36):
smart people do this though they put a word in there.
You're like, damn, that's a really smart word. Um my favorite,
my favorite smart guy words are indefatigable. You know that
word word means, right, guys, I don't no clue um
into fatiga means tireless. But instead of staying entirely as
you say, indefatigable sounds way better. Doesn't that sound really better?

(44:59):
I like juxta position. Yeah, juxtaposition is a great one.
There's a great one. And now I like anathema. Anathema anyway,
the quickest way to win the NFL is to have
a good quarterback. That's how this starts. Uh, unless there's
a drastic change made to change the rules of the
sports beyond finding Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers. The second

(45:20):
best path his newest trend, it's free agency. Now, look,
this is not a tried and true long term philosophy,
but generally what the article works through is the fact
that because the salary cap expanded slowly, because there are
rules in the new cb A which allowed teams to

(45:41):
carry over money from previous years, and frankly, because one
of the things that Cleveland Browns did last year to
exploit the new CBA and salary cap is that you
can sign guys on this year's money up until March,
the end of the calendar year for the NFL, meaning
if you have space, you can go out and start
spending free ancy or re upping your guys right before

(46:03):
anybody else gets a chance. Um. Remember that's what they
did with Jamie Collins. They traded for Jamie Collins and
then they signed him after the season was already done
to new money. But they were able to spend that
money on last year's cap. Anyway, The point is that
six of the six teams in the playoffs this year

(46:24):
were six of the ten biggest spenders in free agency.
And because the salary cap um, because of the rookie
wage scale, because of the c b A that I mean, like, look,
that's less needs said. I can remember the days when
it was almost every year you had to let people
go because of money. Now I don't remember thinking, oh,

(46:46):
we're up against the books if we keep this guy,
what does to keep us from doing Hey, we've got
to do some things, just gotta get legal. It's there's
I think what has allowed you to make what's called
strategic football decisions. The biggest change of the recap was
nearly fifty million dollar rise in five years. The second
biggest change was a clause in the two thousand eleven
c b A that allowed teams to roll over the

(47:08):
unused CALF from year to year. So I think what's
interesting is that, Um, you look at the Green Bay
Packers and the change that they've made. Ted Thompson was
not a big free agency guy. Now last year they
did go spend out and spending free agency, but they're
not one of the top ten spenders and they did
not make the playoffs. Is that Can you make a

(47:29):
correlation between the two? Maybe? Maybe? But the problem with
this argument and look, you've got teams like the New
England Patriots where top ten spender, but you also teams
like the Jacksonville Jaguars that went out and spent money
on free agency. You also have some teams that didn't
achieve greatness to Cleveland Browns, big spender and free agency,

(47:51):
how their season go. Um, So I think it's a
fascinating look. But you know, Malik Jackson is a guy,
Calais cam Bowl, a J. Bouyer, all there. They were
all sprinkled in as additives to what they were making
in Jacksonville and it's pushed them over the top. I
think my my issue with these type of findings, and

(48:13):
it's fascinating. You know, Broncos the key to leave Peyton Manning,
DeMarcus Ware, Emanuel Sanders all free agency free agents that
they added when they won a Super Bowl. So some
of this has been around for a long time. Philadelphia
Eagles were big spenders, but they also spent on guys
that they had Lane Johnson, Fletcher Cox, zach ertz Um,

(48:35):
but they used the rest of their cast space to
go out and get an all Sean Jeffrey. So I
think what I find with this is it's great, there
are there are many My dad uses to say there
there are a bunch different ways of skin of cat.
Now I didn't know, did anybody actually skin of cat?
Or is that just a saying. I hope it's just saying.
But with the successes, there's also four failures. You know,

(48:56):
there's teams that went out and spend and it didn't
work for them. Um. None of these teams spent on
a free agent quarterback should be noted. So the idea
that that will work for you Outside of when the
Broncos went and got paid Manning and UM. There's a
good deal of other things that went a team's way

(49:17):
to propel them. You know, Tennessee doesn't make the playoffs
if Houston doesn't have mass injuries. Right, Like Tennessee, five
of their wins were against division opponents. They swept the Texans,
they swept the Colts. Those are four of their wins.
It stands the reason that if Houston has J. J.
Watt and or Deshaun Watson, uh, they don't win both

(49:38):
of those games, right. You know, if Andrew Luck plays
for the Annapolis Colts, they don't win both. And those
aren't We're not talking about a series of injuries where
you know, like the Chargers two years ago, every guy
goes down on the offense line. I'm talking about one injury, right,
Andrew Luck shoulders healed, and they don't. They don't keep
him on I are all season. If Deshaun Watson doesn't

(49:59):
go down with torn a c L, if J. J.
Watt doesn't get hurt for the second time in two years,
none of this happens. So there are some other things
outside of UM. There there's no real control group to it.
But it is fascinating because so oftentimes our minds like
I'll ask Dan Buyer, you're a perfect You're perfect guy

(50:21):
to throw this off of when I say, who's usually
the biggest free agent spender in the NFL? What's the
one team that always comes up the biggest free agent
spender league? We have not talked about this, so I mean,
if you if you yes, yes, and whether it's Albert

(50:41):
Haynesworth or you know, you picked the guy. Generally we
think of the Redskins as the team that always spends
and over promises and under delivers. Right that that that
Dan Gilbert has never valued draft picks. He's valued let's
go and get ready made products and guys that we
know if to overpay, fine, it's worth it. And it

(51:01):
hasn't worked out with the exception of I think two
playoff berths here in the last ten years. Right, they
had the the r G three one where he got
went down and got hurt against Seattle, and they had
the Kirk Cousins one going back to last year. But
the Redskins are the one that we always think of.
The Lions were big spenders this year in free agency
and they didn't make the playoffs. Um, so there is

(51:23):
no but it is interesting the trend that is building
and the case that can be made to go out
and spend some money and go and find guys that
you're gonna have to find one guy. You're not gonna
completely rebuild your line off on the in free agent market.
You're gonna have to do your work through the draft.
You're gonna have to have a quarterback. But the idea

(51:44):
of not spending any I think that's one of the
reasons you're seeing front office changes being made and guys
that understand the cap being more valuable. And I think
it's definitely a trend that's working, the trend that's building
in the in the NFL. Go to the ring or
you can read the piece. I think it's super interesting.
I'm big on trends, right, I'm big on trends like

(52:07):
college basketball tonight, Okay, Villanova is taking on Xavier. That's that.
That's a top ten matchup. Villanova has dominated the Big
East since the new Big East is formed, and Xavier
went to the lead eight last year, and a couple
of these years has probably had as good or better
talent than Nova. But playing in Philadelphia has been a
disaster from the past couple of years. But one of

(52:30):
the trends kind of building in college basketball is it's
not that you don't want to recruit one and dones,
but you've gotta sprinkle in a transfer to a fifth
year transfer to four year transfer for your transferring. A
guy who sits one plays too. You gotta have guys
that have been a part of your program for two
or three years, and you've gotta have some freshmen that

(52:50):
play right away like you gotta have roster balance um
and it it allows the former mid majors to now
be high major. You know, Xavier once upon a time
was one of the best programs in the Atlantic, ten
year in euar out. Now they're in the Big East.
It's like a quasi high major, and they're able to
can be with anybody in the country because the biggest

(53:10):
of big boys, even when they land the top fifty recruits,
they usually lose them after year and definitely lose them
after two years. There are trends that are changing in
college basketball. You you win with age and with a
high recidivious rate more so than getting the best of
the best recruits. That's a trend on the sport. The
same can be said for a trend in the National

(53:33):
Football League where you look at free agent spenders are
actually being rewarded with successful teams. Six of the ten
biggest spenders in free agency have made the playoffs this year.
As the conditions on the field change, so can your
insurance needs. Talk with the Farmers agent today and you
can assess whether your policy game is game ready. Find

(53:56):
an agent at Farmers dot com. Are Farmers? Uh, Matt
Light's gonna join the stuff coming? Next? Of course the
A three times to the pull Champ, former New England Patriot.
I'll ask him about the reported strife between Brady and
Belichick and Robert Kraft. What did he see? What does
he know? And how long legitimately can Tom Brady do this?

(54:18):
That's next. Online shopping can be confusing, Well not anymore.

was just telling the fellas. Obviously, uh, obviously, this is
not my best vocal work, uh, in the history of

(54:38):
the doug Otlip Show, although I do have some t help.
Let me take a step mhmm fabulous anyway, So I'll
first I want to thank the folks at our Albuquerque
I Heart Radio studios. You know it's amazing, like the
I Heeart thing is really remarkable. How many studios we have,
how many different places, incredible stations. Um, but I would

(55:00):
I was asking the guys like, all right, let me
just I never buy a can of soda. I don't
so like I the products that we pitch here that
I read for I use. I do from castor, Mattress, Dollars,
shape Club, Farmers, Insurance, you name it like I use them.
And so I've never done soda because I don't really
drink soda. How much do you think of Canada soda

(55:22):
costs at a vending machine at an iHeart Radio, I
just just ramos. What do you think I would say?
If any machine? Probably like a dollar seventy? All right,
what about you music, I'm gonna go two dollars. I
feel like I'm in a time warp. I walked up
and said sixty cents. I was like wow, like wow wow,
And it only took cash, doesn't take credit cards. Um,

(55:44):
let's welcome in matt Light, part of three superpol championship
teams and uh you can go to playoff Raffle dot
com enter your chance uh for a chance to win
tickets to watch this weekend's Patriots Titan game with Matt Light.
They're raising money for the Matt Light Foundation. You sure
you know what you're doing here? Like some like hardcore
Pats fan, I mean, Murphy Smiddy is gonna win this

(56:06):
thing and it's gonna be bugging you watching, Like all
you want to do is watch the game. You really
want to do this, man, that hasn't happened yet. And
by the way, going back to your pop thing you're
just talking about there or soda? Where do you come
from in the great country here that we live in? Cents?
My friend cents still back in the good old Greenville

(56:27):
of Ohio, Land that I come from. So Midwest, Midwest
is pop. I grew up in Stun of California. It's coke,
every been, everything is coke, like, it doesn't matter. It's
Dr pepper. You give me coke, give me a Dr
Pepper like and then it's soda other places. So yeah,
twenty five cents in Greenland, Ohio, Greenville or green Sticks
as they used to say, Um, yeah, you know, and listen,

(56:49):
we I've done these raffles for so long now, We've
raised so much money for the life foundation of the
work we do, and I have yet to run into
one of those fans. And I'm a little nervous every
now and then, But overall, I'm gonna go with the
odds here and say that we're going to keep on
the trend of a non annoying, crazy type fan. But look,
they're easy to get involved with, and like I said,

(57:11):
we raised a ton of money with him, and this
weekend is going to be pretty decent game, and hopefully
we'll be able to do another one next week. How
many times did you win Patriot of the Week? That's
a great question, you know. I don't think it ever
happened once. Bill wouldn't give me the satisfaction of having
to put my picture up in that facility. We had
a lot of fun and I used to love poking

(57:33):
the bear, So I think he would have he would
have voted that one down had it even come up
in a meeting. All right, So when you read an
article that says, hey, one of the things that's really
ticked Tom Brady off is he had one Patriot in
the week in forever. Um, what's what's as a guy
who's lived and worked and and succeeded in that facility,

(57:55):
what's your reaction? Well, I mean it's funny, right, I mean,
you know, and every player must be like this, But
you have these goals when you play the game of football.
I want to go to and win a Super Bowl.
I want to you know, go to the Pro Bowl
or be All Pro. And then of course you want
to be Player of the Week. And the fact that
he hasn't gotten it's got to really piss him off. Okay,

(58:16):
So so do you think it's pissed him off to
the level of like like that there's a real uh
uh fracture. I mean that the Jimmy there's a story
that he celebrated when Garoppolo got traded that he went
to that he went to Robert Kraft and said, you
know me, York Garoppolo, one of us gotta go. He
wants to play ut at least. Like what do you
make of the supposed riff between him and Bill Belichick? Well,

(58:39):
I know one thing, it didn't come from Player of
the Week, and uh I would say this. I mean, look,
there's there's times and I was there for eleven years, right,
um so the only place I know of, um in
terms of my time playing in the league. You know,
I was fortunate to be there the whole time. And
when you when you start off in a Belichick system,

(59:02):
you know, there's there's definitely a lot of what the
heck if I got myself into and then you go
through this period of time where it's like, man, I
I don't know if I can do this, and then
and then there's a period of time where I don't
want to do this, and then there's the I hate
them all, and then you get to the point where
you're like, oh, yeah, I've actually survived and we do

(59:22):
win some football games. So it's amazing the roller coaster
of emotions you go through as a player, and and
you your butt heads with the coaches. I mean, I
didn't talk to my offensive line coach for a year,
but we still won games and championships and you know,
it all worked out pretty good. So there's just you know,
there doesn't need to be a whole lot of kumbayah
within that locker room. And I have no idea how

(59:43):
ugly or how good things are, right now, But I
know one thing. They're not going out to dinner together.
They're both kind of working, you know, towards the same thing,
and that's winning this weekend and hopefully the next and
the next after that. Three times fro bolcamp and Matt
Lite joining us in the dug out. It's funny because I,
you know, my experience is more playing college basketball, and
in college basketball, like, look, everybody you know at some
point hating your head coach, and so people asking about

(01:00:05):
him now they're like, yeah, yeah, we hated we hated him.
At the time we we it was us against them,
but it became a unifying force in the locker room, like, hey,
we might have been united against the coaching staff, at
least when you're united. So I do I I understand
a great deal of that. Um, let me ask you
about Brady Uh, Like, look, he's throwing five picks the
last five games, but outside of that, he's probably the
league's m v P some by default, some because the

(01:00:28):
defense hasn't been good, and he's carried him some because
he's been doing it. Uh without his leading receiver from
last year. What's your sense of the legitimacy of hey man,
I want to play to my mid forties, whereas Giselle
doesn't seem to be completely on board with that idea. Yeah,
you know that the better half never are on the

(01:00:48):
same page entirely, right. I mean it's a oh, it's
a life, lifelong struggle for all of us. But you know,
I think he has the ability to do it for
as long as he wants, right. I mean, he's not
going to be the guy it goes until the wheels
fall off. I know that much. So when he starts
the sense that you know what, man, I just can't
move the way I did, or I can't get prepared,
or I can't you know, do something physically, he's gonna

(01:01:10):
quit the thing that I think sets him apart though.
I Mean people talk about the fact that, you know,
he doesn't get a sun burned because he drinks so
much water, and he's in such great shape, and you know,
he takes care of himself and all this stuff. But mentally,
I mean, the thing that I lost towards the end
was I really don't want to go out there and
and fight the way I used to. I mean, I

(01:01:31):
played the game of football because I didn't go to
jail when I hit somebody. I mean that that was
my motivation, right, and I like to win and I
love the one on one matchups. But towards the end
of my career, after eleven years running in the walls,
it was like, you know, I don't know that I
really want to go beat the time of people every
day like I used to. He I don't think that's
that's left him, Not even an ounce of that's left him.

(01:01:53):
I mean, he wants to go out there and he
wants to win, and he wants to throw, you know,
for a lot of yardage, and he wants to get
creative and all the things that he does. He still
has that end of the drive physically, it will be
the only reason that he probably wouldn't be able to
take a field. Um. Look, they they struggled mightily without
Grounk a couple of weeks ago, but they were able

(01:02:14):
uh to steal and look some of it was what
looked like a catch with Jesse James. But they get
the Steelers on their home field that both teams survive
this weekend. What is it about the matchup with the
Steelers that has allowed you guys to always be successful
against him? Well, I mean it's a lot of things,
and they've all been so different. And I think it
back to the times when you know, defensively, they had,

(01:02:35):
you know, such a just weapons all across the board.
I mean, you know, guys that maybe even weren't even
as heralded as others like the Chemo and Old Hoffins
and the you know you you name it, right, I mean,
they had a lot of really talented players. And there's
other times where we go in there and you know,
we had a very talented group, and you know, it
was just always a dog fight. It always came down

(01:02:56):
to who was going to outlast two. And I think
the biggest thing that I think up with the Steelers
is is that they have a very tough nose. I mean,
everybody knows that. Everybody knows they're a tough football team.
And and when you think of tough football teams in
the past, always been the Baltimore's and the Pittsburgh's in
New England's and and that's what Bill Pride's you know,
our team on. So when you have two teams that

(01:03:16):
pride themselves on being the tough guys and not just
talking about it, but going out and playing that way,
you're gonna get a good matchup, and I think we
we come out on top in most of those situations
because you know, there's just this tireless effort to have
everything situationally speaking, figured out right. I mean, we go

(01:03:37):
through all the little things. I'm not saying they don't,
but when you go back and you look at these games, um,
and not that they've all been close, but throughout the game,
I mean little adjustments, little things that we've been able
to do and key in on in the big playmaking
ability when we had to have it. You know, that
just put us on top. And most of those situations,
Matt like joining us on the Dug Gotlei Show three

(01:03:58):
times through Pull Champ. What I'm I'm fascinated by, um,
By whether or not your teams, like you know, you're
still at least on some level close with certain groups
of guys. Is there any level of competitiveness to where
you're You're sitting there going like, are you kidding me?
This team without Edelman with that defense could win a

(01:04:19):
championship to where you know, like they're going to win
a could win a Super Bowl. And this may not
be even one of the top five best Patriots teams
like you know, the the undefeated regular season Patriots team
like that was probably the best of any of the teams. Right,
that was his best season. He lost in one game
in the Super Bowl. Is there any level of competitiveness
with past teams as opposed to this year's team, considering

(01:04:41):
the wins that this year's team has gotten, maybe in
a down year. Well, I mean, I think you look
at it as a whole I mean personally, no, I mean,
I you know, I wish these guys the best and
everything that they do. Um, and and look we did it.
We did it with a whole bunch of no names
and a one arguably in a three and four as
well when you look at the grand scheme of things, right,
I mean we want with a lot of guys that

(01:05:01):
nobody had heard of. It definitely a no one right. So, UM.
The thing that I key in on for this year,
and I don't think I could get enough press, is
the fact that the National Football League UM has changed
so much and it's so glaring that this level of
competition has has not risen to the challenge or the

(01:05:24):
expectations of all the fans. I mean, It's one thing
is the expectation level of the coaching staff. It's all
another one when it's so glaringly obvious to the fans
that are out there. And I think that's a real problem.
I mean, this past weekend was atrocious. I don't know
what this weekend is gonna bring. But you know, it's
just not the same NFL when it comes to the

(01:05:47):
competition as it has been in years past. Okay, so
help me with it, like um hypothesized with me, Like obviously, Look,
the first thing you can say is there's a ton
of star players that are out with injury, right, Like
I mean, some of the absolute freaks of the NFL,
from the J. J. Watt, the Odell Beckhams to the
the Andrew lux Um and the Julian Edelmans of man,

(01:06:11):
we have a lot of guys are And so if
you stop, even if you stop there right, think about
the c b A, which I've fought hard for and
and and uh spend a lot of time on and
the fact that you know, we wanted to get this
this thing that they say is player safety where we're
not gonna hit as much. We're not gonna do this
and it's gonna lessen the rate of of of injuries, right,

(01:06:32):
Has that proven true? I mean, I just think that
when you remove a lot of the practice, preparation and
the things that you know all of us did who
were old school that walked uphill both ways in the snow, right,
I don't know that that really helped. And I think
that you know that's part of it. I mean you
bring up that point of of the the number of
guys that are down out right now, but look at

(01:06:53):
the number of guys on the flip side of that
that are coming in. Right. Look at these guys come
out of college and the the lack of impact or
in some cases impact that they're making. Is it the same?
I mean I don't. I don't think we're seeing the
same player coming out of college either. Okay, so how
do you fix it? Well? Listen, I think number one

(01:07:14):
from a leadership position, right, I mean, um, part part
of what you're seeing is that is what you're not seeing.
I mean when I left and that in the locker room,
the feeling was so different than in my early years.
And I understand that comes with age and as you
get older and things of that nature, but it's it's

(01:07:36):
it's really permeated every aspect of the league. And that
is that these guys are going in and they're so
worried about their brand and building their Twitter sphere whatever
it is, that they're not getting together and doing things,
you know, as a team and and really playing together.
It's it's it's become this this army of of ones, right,

(01:07:58):
and that's that goes that flies in the face of
everything that is football. And I think it's a and
I I know it sounds silly, but to me, that's
part of the problem. I mean, these guys aren't doing
what they used to do, playing smash nose football and
then getting pushed to do it as hard and as
fast and as as well as they can because they
don't go out and practice the way they used to.

(01:08:19):
And the leadership isn't as as well either in a
lot of the cases, whether it's from the league offices
or elsewhere. And you're just you've seen it over time
and it's now playing out as as you see it.
It's crazy. It's crazy. There's a bunch of things to it.
I mean, like, look, I don't think it's harder for me.
I think the phones change things because guys get in
the locker room and they get on their phones. They

(01:08:40):
don't you know, you don't get it with with with
your guys as much. I think honestly, in college quarterbacks
don't learn to be verbal leaders nearly as much. Because
a lot of these teams have the quarterbacks look into
the sideline to change the play. I think that takes
away from a quarterbacks kind of leadership um and an
effort to keep everybody healthy and fresh and not hurting
each other. The lack of practice, you don't have the

(01:09:01):
same cohesion. Obviously, the offensive line play has been hurt
dramatically from it. All those things have caused the quality
of play to which, yes, if if we can see
it and we don't have the discerning eye that matt
light sees it, and if the alarm bells go off,
and I'll be interested to see if the NFL can
can flip it around. And the last thing I'll say
to it is this football is a violent sport. That's

(01:09:21):
why again I love the game of football. If you're
gonna take the violence side away from it, and how
you officiated and how you let these guys prepare and
how they play the game, you know, it's it's obviously
going to have an effect on the product that all
these people see. And it shows, right, Yeah, it does show.
I listen. You can go to playoff raffle dot com.

(01:09:44):
It's just how it's sounds. Playoff Raffle one word, playoff
raffle dot com. Get a chance to win tickets and
watch this weekend's Patriots Titans game with Matt light three
times through Bowl Champion. Are you watching it in Greenville?
Are you watching it? Uh? At the stadium? We may
still than Foxborough, proud proud member of the Foxborough nation
here and uh we will be at the stadium. It's

(01:10:06):
gonna be great seats, man. And look it's easy. There
are a dollar apiece, so by as many or as
little as you want. Last last one we did person
bought twenty bucks worth. We had a great time and
it all goes, like I said, to our foundation, working
with kids, putting them on a better path to be
really really productive members and awesome people. And we love
what we do, man, we really do. I get there

(01:10:27):
early because it takes like two hours to get from
the freeway to into fox I got I got the
back parking pass, man, I got I got them covered.
We're good. That's what happens in your Matt life at Matt.
Thanks for joining us. Man, continue to tess to talk
to you, said Matt Lee, joining us. Let's let's we'll
get Dan Buyer. One second is conditions on the field change,
So do your insurance needs. Talk with the farmer's agent
today so you can assess whether your policy is game ready.

(01:10:50):
Find an agent at farmers dot com. We are Farmers.
Let's get to Dan Buyer. There's a lot of other
things going on in the world of support. Stand when
he got yeah out of the NFL and the NBA
Calves guards Aya Thomas find twenty grand today for his
clothes line of Andrew Wiggins and Monday's lost to the
Minnesota Timberwolves. Yeah, he was ejected immediately after the play,
but the Calves are down by thirty at the time,

(01:11:11):
so all he gets is that final corner and a
half ejection and twenty thousand dollars. And I tell you
what I think that was. I think that was the
new guy trying to show how tough he was for
Lebron James. Sure, very well, it could be. We'll see
if it has any effect, but it is going to
affect his bank account out twenty thousand dollars. Clippers want

(01:11:31):
to play Griffin tonight against the Warriors. Kevin Durant expected
to return for Golden State, but Steph Curry reinjured that
right ankle spreading it and shoot around today. He has
been ruled out of Tonight's game in Oakland. Clay Thompson
is gonna sit out as well against the Clips to
rest Alabama wide receiver Calvin Ridley heading to the NFL
Draft as his running back both Scarborough and defensive tackle

(01:11:52):
Ron Payne. However, Crimson tied running back Damian Harris is
staying in Tuscaloosa. Now onto the news from the National
Football League. Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan back at practice today
after missing yesterday because of personal reasons. The Titans have
ruled running back to Marco Murray out of their game
Saturday against New England because of his knee injury. While
on Sunday, the Steelers have the Jaguars, and the NFL

(01:12:12):
Network says Steelers corner Already Burns suffered a knee injury
and practice ligaments aren't intact, but his status for the
game is unknown. The Steelers, of course facing the Jaguars.
This is what Blake Bortles had to say about his
well critics. It will probably never stop. Man, there's people
that think Lebron James sucks. So if that happens, I'm
sure there'll be a lot of people that always think
I supped. That was Blake Bortles today in preparation for

(01:12:35):
that game Sunday and talking about the criticism that he
may receive from those haters. And that was the last
time you will ever hear Blake Portles and Lebron James mention.
Great SoundBite though from border it is a great he
look he's right, but like, look who didn't throw for
a hundred yards? And he was throwing knuckleballs at you know,
the first quarter. So I and I've been a defender

(01:12:57):
of Blake Bortles at times, but he is passing was indefensible. Indefensible. Um,
I got a couple of things for you. Did you
see this story on the agent Jason would No? Okay,
Jason Wood is a major league baseball agent, or maybe
Jason Wood was a major league baseball agent. UM. He

(01:13:22):
was fired by his agency CSC and suspended by Major
League Baseball's Players Association amid allegations that he used a
hidden camera to film players he represented the league. Sources
familiar with the situation told Yahoo Sports, Um, he's the
president of baseball for CSC, so he's the president of

(01:13:42):
his own agency. He was allegedly caught filming a player
showering in his home. This is the guy who reps
Andrew Bennettendee, Matt Reynolds, David Phelps, um and some of
the top prospects in in pro baseball, Riley Pint, Joey
ends So one of the guys was a was a

(01:14:03):
player he represented, was showering at his house, saw a
camera somewhere in the bathroom and out of him for it.
CSD president Danny Marta said, for forty two years, CSC
Talent has pride itself on our moral and ethical standards
that have built solid reputation within the industry. We take
probably on working blah blah blah blah. Uh. It's unfortunate

(01:14:27):
c s A Talent aligned itself as someone who did
not uphold the same standards, and therefore we choose to
terminate with cause was employment. Woof Now, look, I mean
maybe you could sit there and go like, hey, man,
I just had it up because I had chicks over.
You know, it's kind of my thing. But when y'all
who was forced when Fan Rax called him, he didn't

(01:14:47):
return their call, and it doesn't appear that he's fighting
this thing. It feels like they caught him red handed. Gods,
that's gross. That's gross. Yeah, yeah, sorry, sorry to be
Debbie down on that one. Damn. Dan's like, give me
those great informations. I I usually like to make jokes

(01:15:08):
are funny one, but there's nothing now, no dudes watching
other dudes that he represents shower. That's yeah, yeah, yeah, No,
where I can really go this season? Make tough jobs
easier with free loaned tool program from auto Zone from
a C and insin repaired to exhaust and break jobs
over a hundred specialty tools to help get the job

(01:15:29):
done right. Deposit required getting the zone auto zone, um uh.
I wanted to up next. I want to play for
you something Lebron James said a couple of nights ago
and why you can no longer make the argument for
Lebron James in this using this stat Plus, we'll hear

(01:15:50):
from Trent Dilford on why he thought what he thought
would happen and what did happen with Alabama's what we
think is new starting quarterback that's coming next. Broadcasting live
from the studios of Fox Sports Radio, here's Doug Godlieb.
Online shopping can be confusing, Well not anymore. With True

(01:16:10):
Price from True Car. Now you can know the exact
price you'll pay for your next car. So visit True
Car and enjoy more confident car buying experience. There's an
argument that's been made for Lebron James that now you
can't make for Lebron James. How do I know this
because you can just ask Lebron James. Um, he had
his worst ever plus minus two nights ago when they

(01:16:32):
were blown out in Minnesota, and he had this answer
for the question about his plus minus. You can say
it was the worst in terms of plus minus um.
I won a game, I had a bad plus minus before,
So what does that matter? Don't give a damn by
no damn plus minus um. And look, I like this
argument for Lebron, Like, look, the only thing that matters

(01:16:52):
to me is if our team won of our team lost.
The problem with that argument is Lebron is actually made
the plus minus argument before, you know, even last year
in the finals. Hey, I'm averaging a triple double. When
he was asked if he was tired or not, I'm
averaging a triple double. In other words, not my fault,
everybody else's fault. So I'm not here to crush Lebron James.

(01:17:15):
And I do think that the plus plus minus does
have value. It does. It shows all that really matters,
that it really matters is how did you play when
your team was in the game. I think you have
like a minus thirty one or minus thirty nine. It
was atrocious two nights ago. How did your team play
when you're in the game as opposed to how they
play overall? Right, did you did your team play better

(01:17:37):
than the other team when you were in the basketball game?
And look, plus minus is not perfect because there's other variables.
Who did you play with who's playing for the other
team that that changes the plus minus dramatically. You know,
if you get in the last two minutes of a
blowout and you know you go on like an eight
oh run, but you're down thirty, your plus minus looks ridiculous.

(01:17:57):
So it looks ridiculously good as opposed if you check
in and you know then your best player gets foul
and foul trouble, and you know he's replaced by somebody
who's inferiors. Sometimes you plus minus can go skew the
other way. But if Lebron say and plus minus doesn't matter,
then plus minus doesn't matter. It can't only matter when

(01:18:18):
it's good. Let's find out what the Fox said and now.
Earlier today on the Rich Eisen Show, which is a
premier sports radio Fox Sports Radio property, Trent Dilfer, a
friend of ours friend of the program, hopped down with
Rich to talk about to a too. Took a Uh,

(01:18:41):
do you want to help you want help me out music?
Do you wanna try to go via logo? Took a viola,
took a viola, took a via loa? Anyway, this is
what del fred To said. I think that mostly impressed
me about him in my time with him was how
coachable he was For those people who don't know about
the legal leven. We're basically, uh, we called a competition

(01:19:02):
half camp, half competition. It's premier quarterbacks in the country.
We give him every year and and I give him
an NFL curriculum. I said, let's bypass their whole college
experience and see what they can do with an NFL curriculum,
So it's pretty overwhelming. We want to see them fail
because when we see them fail, we kind of see
their potential to It didn't fail, uh. He memorized an

(01:19:22):
NFL playbook. He learned all the nuances of the NFL game.
As a quarterback. He dramatically changed his technique, which I
demanded of because it didn't fit playing any rhythm and
a game that's played on rhythm from the pocket. Um
and then his competitive temperament, like he just goes in.

(01:19:43):
You guys saw it there on Monday night. He goes
into the slow the more pressure, the bigger the moment,
the bigger the stage, whatever it is. He becomes more precise,
he becomes more focused, he becomes more calm uh. And
then the touchdown pass is as proud as I've ever
been because it's something Frankly, we taught him how to
do it. A lead eleven kid was the Yeah, that

(01:20:04):
was the cover two beater down the rail pinned the safety,
the boundary safety. Move him to the middle of the
field on a number three because that's where his eyes
want to take him. As his number three receiver who
was a tight end We repped that play over and
over and over again at a lead eleven, and he
had never really had any experience throwing it on time.
And I mean it was exactly as you draw it up.

(01:20:28):
And there's very few plays that you know, you you
see drawn up perfectly and execute perfectly by a quarterback.
And yeah, look to me, what what that points out?
It's a lot like the Villanova play for a couple
of years ago when Chris Jenkins hit the jump shot.
Like the part that doesn't get discussed enough was that
if you look back Villanova, I think I charted it.

(01:20:51):
It was. They actually tried they called the time out
with with less than thirty on the clock in the
first half, like in eleven or twelve of their games,
and they tried to run that play like six or
seven times to varying levels of success. And they had
actually run the play at the end of the Big
East Championship game which they had lost. They had a
player fall down sliping whatever. Anyway. Um Like, to me,

(01:21:16):
sports por porn isn't about just the great throw or
the great shot to win a game. Those are great,
and it's incredible some of the players that are made
Sometimes that's just an athlete and a little bit of luck.
Sometimes it's an athlete, a little luck, a little bit
of skill, but when it comes from reps, preparation, understanding

(01:21:38):
the defense and taking what the defense gives you, but
deeking the different defense into giving you what you want
and at the very right moment getting the opportunity and
then the you know, so the beauty isn't just the
past and the catch, which was perfect. It was he
recognized the coverage, he looked off the safety, the safety

(01:22:00):
what stayed on the hash the corner gave, gave an
early release and then he made the great throw. Just
like with Chris Jenkins jump shot against North Carolina two
years ago. He wasn't just a shot as the buzzer expires, Uh,
it was everybody was perfectly positioned. Bryce Johnson was underneath

(01:22:21):
the hoop. North Carolina apparently didn't know that that play
was coming, and so instead of having to protect the rim,
which didn't need to be protected, um, they did and
left Jenkins open. He was the final option and he
was wide open, and the ball was delivered on time
and in rhythm and oh yeah, by the way, they
made the shot as conditions on the field change, So

But what it really tells you about the value of
branding in collegiate sports. That's next to the Doug gotl
Liep Show, Fox Sports Radio. What up Doug got Liep Show,

(01:23:27):
Fox Sports Radio. Coming into you from the land of Enchantment.
I just love this called the Lando and Chairman. Don't
you know that? By the way? Is uh? I'm told
the nickname for the state of New Mexico. Although aren't
nicknames supposed to be like one word? I am coming

(01:23:48):
around to this idea of nicknames being longer. Right, It's
like New York City street legging nicknames. Uh, there's skipped
to my lou Right, So that that that could be
a way in which we could get out of it.
But it makes because the land of enchantment. Anyway. Uh,
I'll be broadcasting a game on Facebook later today, later tonight,
New Mexico versus Wyoming, So you'll whack Old Waction Gold

(01:24:14):
Action Whack after dark. So you can check that out
seven o'clock West Coast time on Facebook. Um, I do
want to get to what's interesting about the Carolina Panthers
some of these other teams. Uh, Chris Richard, you know,
losing his job. Apparently it's Christoper Shard losing his job
as a defensive coordity to the Seahawks. Get to that
in a moment. But there's something interesting like look, tonight

(01:24:35):
you have Xavier taking on Vilanova, Xavier Villanova, and in
the pantheon of big matchups in college basketball this year,
believe it or not, Xavier Nova's pretty much outside of
Duke Carolina, which is always good about as good as
it gets, right, Like the rivalry games, Um, you know

(01:25:00):
there is no more Missouri Kansas that used to be
the best one in the Big twelve that was. That's
a rivalry that goes back to the to the Civil War, right,
Ohio State, Michigan and basketball is not that big Michigan.
Michigan State will still be good, still be good, not
great though. Usile in Arizona they only played each other
once this year in Arizona seems to be a USILE

(01:25:21):
seems to be a not slightly below that of Arizona.
Cal Stanford not so much us A. Washington used to
be big, like like you kind of work around the country.
You're like, Look, Xavier went to the Lead eight and
they've been the second best team in the Big East
since the New Big East was form. They were probably
the best team in the A ten back in the
Air ten and Nova you know one A national championship

(01:25:43):
in the Old Big East was competitively the Old Big East,
and then since it's been the New Big East, they've
been the dominant power. Like this is a big time Robbalty.
They played each other twice during the year, and they
might play each other the third time in the in
the Big East tournament, and both have aspirations of a
final four. It's on Fox Sports one, so please don't
get me that I'm telling you not to watch. This

(01:26:04):
is a big game that I would absolutely watch. By
the way, Nova's the nine point favorite. I probably stay away.
Nine seems about right. I like Nova to win just
because I think And at the end of the day,
Jalen Brunson so steady plays like a four year old
man that he's not gonna get rattled. But like, what's
what's fascinating to me is what people don't understand about

(01:26:26):
brands and there's nothing that Sometimes we wait for a
story to trigger a conversation, and maybe maybe the conversation
is triggered by people reacting to coaches getting bonuses for
national championships or bowl games or whatever and saying there's
not enough money. What you have to ask yourself is

(01:26:47):
why do you watch college sports? And why do you
watch the college sports that you watch? Like who goes
to a college game? Who watches a college game? And generally,
generally people who went to the school watched that school,
or people from the area who grew up as fans
of that school watch that school. And then there's a
couple of national names that watched that school. The most part,

(01:27:08):
the only people that really care, really or hard earned
dollars are people that went to that school. And when
a school is is successful for long period time, it's
a big fan base for that basketball team and football team.
The point is this, Fox Sports one will do a
good number tonight for for Nova taking on Ston Hall

(01:27:29):
of stun Seem Nova taken on Xavier. But if Michigan
State plays Rutgers tonight, right, if that game was on
Fox Sports One, there's a pretty good chance it would
rate as high or probably most likely higher. Michigan State's
a twenty two point favorite at home now is because
Michigan State was the number one ranked team in the
country last week. Yeah, probably it's some of it, but

(01:27:51):
a good portion of it is there's just bigger, big
ten fan basis, and people don't watch for the they
watched because the names Rutgers, Michigan State and massive fan
basis those schools have. And so like you have to,
we work in the complete backwards direction, trying to worry
about one or two players, I would guess, And part

(01:28:13):
of it was there a freshman. But even now like Alabama,
they returned all these you know freshmen that played. How
many of them can you actually name outside of toa
how many of them? And look, I'm a recruiting nick
and I I watched the elite eleven, so I knew
about to I thought, based upon his style of play
when I saw from Jalen Hurts that he would be

(01:28:36):
the starting quarterback this year, Hurts would get beat out
and he didn't. So I'm not a fair representation of
most people. But I don't think most most people knew
who Alabama had as a backup and that he'd be viable.
He's even as a true freshman. So and and because

(01:28:56):
of the National Championship stage, because of that one throw
now a sudden, we know who Toa is. We still
don't know the rest of Alabama's players, but they'll You'll
still watch why because Nick Dame is the coach, Alabama's
the team. Anyway, I think it'd be a great night.
Like I don't often, I don't show for the company
that often. In terms of you should watch the game,
this is the game you should watch. Both teams that

(01:29:19):
find up four potential. Both teams are really good, really
well coached, built differently Xavier. Tonight, there's probably three hundred
and twenty five teams, three thirty teams even on the road.
They probably handled tonight. Nova is a bad matchup for them,
bad matchup for them Carlos Booze will join us in moments.
I wanted to get to this. So Darryl Bevil fired

(01:29:41):
Chris Richard looks like he parts ways with the Seahawks
as well. Seahawks all started getting rid of Tom Cable,
their offensive line coach, and their offensive line was a problem.
And and I can I can understand, even though he's
very well respected. Was the head coach of the Raiders
and uh before they made the playoff officer best season
since Scruton was with Tom Cable's head coach. But it's

(01:30:05):
not a surprise that the offensive line is bad. They
fired the offensive line coach. But if you look around
the league, there are a lot of these situations to
which we're kind of blaming the position coaches. And I'm
gonna be wrong. I'm sure there's some position coaches who
are inept. Right, Just the numbers work out to where
if there's thirty two teams, you know, there's probably four

(01:30:27):
that are completely inept. There are probably four that are
way better than the rest of them, and the rest
are probably somewhere in a different range in the middle.
So maybe Darryl Bubbles isn't apt. It's possible Darryl Bubbo. Obviously,
his image took a hit a couple of years ago

(01:30:47):
when they chose to throw the ball instead of hand
the ball to Marshall Lynch and they could have won
the Super Bowl. We all remember that, um. But Daryl
Bebo has his rise has coincided with the rise of
Russell Wilson, and it'll be interested to see what the
new offensive coordinator in Seattle does for Russell Wilson now
that Russell seems to have taken the next step this

(01:31:09):
past year in leading a team in spite of the
fact doesn't have a good offensive line, and Doug Bollwin
is a good wide receiver that I think Russell has
jency to make look great. But what's fascinating about it
is like, look at Carolina, look at Seattle. You find
your coordinators and okay, you can fire my shula. I mean,

(01:31:32):
I think that's an easy one. The offense wasn't great,
Cam was all over the place. You fire the quarterback
coach as well. You're gonna try and fix the quarterback.
But you're seven years in and here's the guy Cam
Newton has had his most success with and you're getting
rid of him out to me. That is that is
painting the front door, you know, tearing out the carpets,

(01:31:52):
taking down the wallpaper, putting a new paint, new front door,
leaving all the rest and going like you know, I
know that kitchen is too small. You know, I know
that we back up to a freeway. You know, I
know that the sewer line has been clogged, and that
the neighbor neighborhoods declining and the local schools not great.
But hey, look new front door and somebody will buy it.

(01:32:15):
It's the same thing with coordinators. Somebody's think the Carolina job,
and maybe they do a better job at cam Newton,
But can you do a better job than what was it?
Seventeen and two in a league MVP two years ago?
And I don't know how much of that was Shuela,
how much of that was timing the offensive line. They
played a bad schedule this year. I don't profess to know.

(01:32:35):
I do know that they tried to make him into
a pastor going back to last season, it didn't work.
This year, there's more of a blend. Once he started
running the football. Remember he was coming off a shoulder injury,
couldn't even throw in the preseason I think sometimes we're
we're blaming position coaches and coordinators when the problem is
in the personnel. But if you blame the personnel, now
on you have to bring a new personnel. But you're

(01:32:57):
also blaming the personnel decision guys and those the guys
that higher than fire the coaches. Carlos Bozo joined the show.
Up coming next, I'll get his thoughts on the LaVar
Ball situation and what if anything the Lakers should do.
Plus the Calves need to be struggling with Isaiah Thomas.
Will they work? Will they work out those kings? That's next,

Fox Sports Radio. Couple interesting things going on in the NBA.
Um obviously LaVar ball thing which we talked about some
really fascinating to hear. Our next guest opinion on that

(01:34:43):
uh And and Isaiah Thomas now playing with the calves
and the calves are suddenly struggling. How long does it
take to adjust UH to a new player, especially one
that requires the basketball require that that is a score,
that's a kind of an alpha part of your starting lineup.
Let's welcome in from her all start in the NBA.
Carlos Booster joins us on the Doug Gottlieb Show here

(01:35:04):
on Fox Sports Radio, and let me start with the
LaVar Ball booze. Let mean, what I have heard is
up until this past week, what LaVar Ball said did
didn't resonate with the Lakers in their lounge, in their
locker room at their practic facility. But when he started
talking about the players quitting on Luke Walton, and maybe

(01:35:26):
it was also Alonzo's response where he said, hey, I
can play for anybody, not saying Luke's my guy, it
didn't sit well with some Laker players. You're a vet
respective one at that. What's your thoughts on what happened
this past week? What's somebody how you doing? I'm doing well? Um,
I find out who the situation three big are? You know?

(01:35:47):
I think I think LaVar Uh needs to take a
seat back and just let his son play, Let him
let his son acclamate, let him let his sun. Um
just be a pro and be a Laker, be a teammate,
be you know, be a kid, and enjoy the problem
enjoy the moment um. I think he's taken too much
to the forefront. He's very visible, very vocal. I think

(01:36:10):
he's always been that way. He has a very um
what's the word. He just has a very huge present.
And you know, obviously some of that has been good
for their kids, but for his kids, and he's doing
the things it is best for his children. But I
think if he was able to have a friend just
talked to him, I think he's making it extremely difficult
for Alonzo Ball and his other two kids to just

(01:36:32):
flourish on their own. And that's gonna end up being
a problem. So the whole situation with with with with coach,
with coach Luke, with coach Walden, it's gonna it's gonna
take a tool on the team too, because it's not
only just his team, it's also the same. It's also
the wise and girlfriends, the management. I went to a
magic and Rob Tony can think about that as well.
So it's been interest and see will play how it
plays out, all right, So if you're advising Polinka and magic,

(01:36:56):
magic cause instance a boost to my office, what would
you do if you were me? You're Magic Johnson, how
do you handle it. Who am I though? Is it? No?
You're your Magic, You're advising Magic on how to handle LaVar. Yeah,
I mean I would just talk to him. It's not magic.
I just come up as have a conversation for Lavan

(01:37:17):
and be like, look, man, this is the Lakers, you know,
we're like the Yankees. Then, but they had this, they
had this, this is they had it before they drafted him.
They had it a month and a half ago, and
then they said, I think it's time to have it again.
I mean, obviously a man is don't do what they
wants to do. But I would just talk to me,
be like, looking, you're making this a little bit more
difficult on your son, and we want him to enjoy

(01:37:39):
his spairers want him to enjoy being a teammate. We
want him to enjoy, you know, being a part of
our renaviasent and you're making you're making us all look
a little not the only want to look not necessarily bad,
but yeah, like you're making us look bad. And I
would just have a conversation. May have to come from
a guy like Magic Johnson. We respect because brus are
joining us in the Dugoutlives show Sports Radio. Isaiah Thomas

(01:38:02):
joins the Calves and first game he came in he
only plays seven teams to look great, but the team
hasn't played as well recently. How long do you think
it'll take for him to acclimate to the Cavs. Yeah,
it takes time. I mean any time. And I'm happy
to see Issdah back. I'm rooting for him. I'm mooing
for that cud Um, But it takes time for anybody
to to to get back in the rhythm where you're

(01:38:23):
consistently playing at the level that that you're capable of.
You know, I think Isaiah's an extremely talented player UM
with a who sip on his soldier and after being
one of the only guys UM that had the kind
of year that he had not to get the bag
that he deserves this past summer, been on top of that,
getting dealt from a team that he basically put back
on the map UM after you know those guys left

(01:38:45):
for Royal and kJ and Paul pier so Um. I personally,
on a person level on rooting Prisia to to do
back and get flowing some up when the playoffs come.
He can pick some butt, but it takes time. I mean,
you know, everybody is different. You know, maybe it takes
some a couple of weeks, maybe it takes some ten games,
maybe it takes him. Um, but I think he's he's
he's he's down for the challenge. I think Lebron and

(01:39:05):
the rest of the guys obviously beat him there and
want him there. I want him to get in a
good rhythm. They're gonna go through what their ups and downs.
You know, they're implementing him very strong personality, a great
player who demands the bone is gonna be you know,
off the wall, a lot to scool. But also I'm
gonna have the ball in his hands quite a bit
as well. Um. So it takes time for the rest
of the guys to adjust the as they have being back.
But you know, once he does and they get rolling,

(01:39:27):
they get flowing. Watch out, man, do you think they're
better than the Warriors if both sides are healthy. I
can't wait to find out. I don't know, but I
can't wait to find out. I'll tell you that. Yeah,
But I mean just when you watch them, when you
see that, because it it feels like they have a
lot of pieces. But you know, but do they but
some of the pieces are Dwyane Wade. You know, four

(01:39:48):
or five years ago, Dwyane Wade is not Dwyane Wade Now.
On the other hand, he's playing a different role, so
he's not going up against the other team start. He's
going to get together team's bench. Uh. I mean end
of the day when you see rosters, you know how
teams come together. And again, like stephre sprained his ankles,
so we don't know, we're assuming steps healthy in June.
But in terms of makeup of roster now, Calves Warriors,

(01:40:11):
who did you like better? I mean, it's tough to
pick one side. Obviously they're leaning towards the words with
their chemistry. UM. But I'm saying, just just from a
fans perspective, just sitting back, it would be great because
both of these teams are set to meet to meet
each other. You know, I think the roster on the
Calves is much better as far as the bench's concerned.

(01:40:31):
Now they're starting, they're starting five, you know, d rows back.
I think I think their team is more set to
compete with the Warriors now, the team that they have
now than that than ever before. Um. But that's the
same I just, I just I really want to see
it happen. I want to see what happened when the
board grows up. The d Rose thing is interesting. Obviously
you played with him during peak d Rose. Now he

(01:40:52):
takes a bunch of time away from the team and
he comes back. He did this for one day with
the Knicks. Like, what do you think is going Like,
do you think it's legitimate he's thought about can wasting
the game? Yeah? I think it's been tough on him, man.
I mean, he went from being Rookie of the Year,
UM All Star m v P. You know, one of
the best players on the planet, and he's been hurting,
you know, four or five years in a row. I

(01:41:13):
think psychologically has played a big tone him. I was
actually having the same conversation with Ben Davis a couple
of weeks ago in l A because he went through
something similar. Um, you know where Baron Davis was and
in his career at the height of the game, one
of the best point guards to be playing, and they
have all those injuries pile on top of you, so
you couldn't play the game that where he wanted to anymore.
I think, and I don't get me wrong, like, I

(01:41:33):
know he rose hurt. In his passion, he wants to
be out there, but he also wants to be his
very best, and you know, the rows being the competitor
that he is, and and he works his ass off
because he's a tough kid. Works, but all he wants
to be at his best. So it's it's been very
frustrating for him not to be able to play the
way he wants to play and to be balling these
injuries because all he wants to do is play the game.

(01:41:55):
So I think psychologically it's been messed with him a
little bit. But I also know he's a tough kid,
and uh, he'll he'll say he'll cook, took it through
and I'll figure it out. Carlos Boozer joining us in
the Doug Gottlip Show. Look, the Rockets have h Chris
Paul was hurt. Now James Harden is hurt, and yet
they're still eleven um. But like they have, Chris Paul's

(01:42:15):
almost always been injured, so we don't know what his
ceiling has been in playoffs, but he hasn't gotten even
what to a conference finals. Going back to the Clippers,
James Harden hasn't necessarily performed at nearly the same level
in the playoffs. He has regular season. Mike D'Antoni their
head coach. His teams haven't performed as well in the playoffs.
They have regular season, So they have all these markers

(01:42:37):
of a team that's gonna let us down the playoffs.
On the other hand, like, dude, you got Chris Paul
and James Harden, and do is that you had a
ton of three? He's kind of new age basketball. What's
your level of buy into how legitimate threat they are
to the Warriors in the postseason. No, Rockets are very
good team, especially healthy when they got both of those
guys out there. Um, I think that it's only doing

(01:42:58):
a great job with mission a month when they're playing
thegether when they're playing you know, by themselves with the
rest of the guys. But let's be honest, it's all
it's all good. They're they're they're very good basketball team.
They're gonna win a ton of games this year. They're
gonna be one of the top two of the season
and the West, no question at all. More than that matters.
It's basically championship or us. I mean, let's let's be honest,

(01:43:19):
can they beat the Warriors or can they not? So? Um,
they could they can end up winning sixty something games
and having a phenomenal season. But we're all going to
judge them based on how they perform at the playoffs
and how they match up to you know, San Antonio,
how they match up to Golden State. Can they get
to the championship. So that's what it comes down to them.
We're we're all gonna be here to see it because, um,

(01:43:39):
Chris Paul one of the best point guards of all time,
you know, James Harden one of the best players, no question. Um,
those two have to get over the hump, and that
the good thing about it is they had each other
to lean on. But we'll have to see that if
their team is better than these other the other teams
that we have, the two championship teams out West are
obviously the Warriors and the Spurs. And for the Rockets

(01:44:01):
to be you know, submitted as one of those teams
that can concern they have to beat those two pools,
no question. And I'm glad you brought the Spurs. Obviously,
Kauai has got the shoulder. It's interesting how they're just
kind of laying there in the cut, nobody talking about him,
and yet everybody, Yeah, they're always there at the end.
I don't know, I don't know how it happens, but

(01:44:21):
it always does happen. Booze, we gotta have you. As
the season rolls on, two time NBA All Star Carlos
Boozer joining us in the Doug Show. Boost great stuff,
Thanks so much for joining us. Thanks for having me. Guys.
All right, that's Carlos Boost joining us. A conditions on
the field change. So can your insurance needs talk with
Farmers agent today so you can assess whether your policy
is game ready. Find an agent at Farmers dot com.

(01:44:43):
Are Farmers the good folks that limpted Lipton makes some
incredible cup of soup? Can you tell the difference in
my voice? I mean this sounds my voice sounds amazing.
I'm completely a warm head to toe. I got like
chicken noodle soup in a like in a in a pack.
It poured into a cup into some random some random

(01:45:03):
dude or ladies. Uh, mug, Like, how much better music?
Do I sound? Zero to ten? So tend being like
you sound normal? Yeah? Uh you are sounding like a nine. Wow,
isn't that? How when? How? Why was that before the
chicken soup? Probably more like a three or four Ramas,
Do you agree with that about the three or four? Yes,

(01:45:28):
about the nine, more like a seven and a half,
but it's closer to the eight. Like, well, listen a
Ramos ramos eight. Ramost is our sound engineer, so he's
as very sensitive ears. Let's get to Dan Buyer. Dan
Buyer's voice is always that of a nine or ten.

(01:45:48):
I don't know about that. There are times when a
canned waiver just uh, you know, kind of like Steph
Curry's ankle. Sometimes it's healthy, sometimes it's not. And right
now for Steph Curry it isn't healthy. Tweaking is ankle
today in shoot around, forcing him to miss the night's
game against the Clippers. Not only a Steph Curry out
for Golden State like Thompson is gonna arrest so he

(01:46:08):
is out. The good news and the silver lining Kevin
Durant coming back from his calf's train. And you also
have the Clippers without Blake Griffin who was still out
because of his concussion. Cavaliers gard as Ayah Thomas find
twenty grand for his clothes line on Andrew Wiggins and
Monday's game against the Timberwolves, but was not suspended. We
do know the Titans running back to Marco Murray is
gonna miss Saturday's game in the NFL Playoffs against New England.

(01:46:30):
He is out because of a knee injury after not
practicing today. Well. Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan backad practice today.
He missed yesterday because of personal reasons. He'll be starting
Saturday in Philadelphia. The Shawks apparently starting over with much
of their coaching staff, multiple reports saying that Daryl Bevil
is out, his offensive coordinator, Tom Cable out his offensive
line coach, and Chris Rohard out as their defensive coordinator

(01:46:52):
and there as for the offensive coordinating position, Falcon said
coach Dan Quinn said there was zero chance that his
offensive coordinator, Steve Sarkisian would leave the Falcons for the
now vacant Seahawks and Gig Packers officially named Joe Philban
as the team's offensive coordinator and Mike Patton as their
defensive coordinator. Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier intended practice today for

(01:47:12):
the team, his first workout session. He was in a wheelchair.
It was last week that his father told a local
Pittsburgh station that she's here does a feeling in his legs,
but it did not comment on whether She's here was
able to walk. But Ryan Chaser posting on Instagram that
he was at Steelers practice today going through in the
NFL Alabama wide receiver Calvin Ridley and his teammates both
Scarborough the defensive tackle to Ron Payne and Alice you

(01:47:35):
running mac Darius guys also heading to the National Football League.
All right, thanks dan Um saw this story which I
thought was interesting. You like, why is the job open?
Why is the job open? Is? Like, why is the
house not sold? Right? Like, man, this house has been
on the market right as you're sitting there, you're looking
like it's been on the market but on Zillo for
a hundred and ninety days, Like what's going on with it? Well,

(01:47:56):
you know, maybe it's over priced, or maybe there's something
in the school system. You know, maybe somebody was murdered
in that house, right, murder that somebody they have to
report when somebody died in the house. But I don't
know if they have to report in somebody's murdered in
the house, like you walk into like police tape in
the body, like, Oh, that's why nobody's bought this house,

(01:48:18):
or maybe there's just something about the house that's like
And look, here's my advice to you un buying a house.
Music and everyboy a house. Ramos has had the same
house for like twenty years whatever. Although I think you're
selling your mom's house, Is that right, Ramos, No, we
were selling our house and moving into our my mom's house. Okay, okay, uh,

(01:48:38):
And then buyer, you guys own your house right with
a big pool, spa water slide. I believe there's some
drafts out front. Yeah, yes, that may not be as grand,
but you know those that is correct. Okay. So uh,
this is my advice. This is Doug Gottlieb house buying
one oh one. Okay, You're gonna go in the house.

(01:49:00):
You walk in the house, and if you love the house,
that's awesome, come back the very next day. Come back
the very next day, because what's gonna happen is you're
gonna see the house completely differently. I'll give you a
give an example. Um, when I was at CBS, they
moved us from they moved us back from California to
New York or whatever. So we looked in around the

(01:49:22):
New York suburbs and we looked everywhere. Chappaqua, that's where
the Clintons live, Katona we lived in, looked in Harrison.
I actually liked Harrison a lot, like to this day,
I think Derry Anne, which is in Connecticut. We settled
in Westport, Connecticut. But we went and looked at this
house in Katona and it was a little bit off
the beaten path and of a cul de sac, which
is great when you have kids. And it was on

(01:49:45):
like a five acre parcel. Now the five acre parcel
we did know it backed up to I think the
six four which is a major thoroughfare, but it was
flat so you didn't hear any gear shifting. It was
just it's like a constant hum way back in the
back of the property. Like that's not great, but all right,
maybe we can figure out that's why this house isn't

(01:50:05):
you know, five million dollars right because it has a
freeway essentially in the backyard. But it was a really
pretty piece of land with plenty of to develop. And
when you roll up to the house, you walk in
and the house was it was partially redone up fully
redone and then you walk outside and the pool was
sometimes pools, you know, get above ground pools, get in

(01:50:26):
ground pools, and they have like all this herd escaping.
There's no heart escaping. It was like grass and then
pool and it was really really cool pool. It just
had a very cool kind of outdoor Eaes type feel.
And the inside, the part that was redone was and
it didn't take a lot to continue to finish the remodel.
And the kitchen was caused, lots of cabinetry in the
kitchen and we walked out. We're like, man, put that

(01:50:46):
one on the list. That's a good one. We come
back the next day and I'm like, something's off about
this house. And we realized that the kitchen used to
be the garage, and so the kitchen was separate. It
was the kitchen was all by itself, and then there
was the formal dining room and then there was the
rest of the house. Well, if you you don't have

(01:51:07):
to have an open concept where the kitchen opens the
living room and famdroom, sometimes those homes are too loud.
But what it what it does allow you to do
is like when I'm not home and this same radio
show three to six Eastern time I'm not at home,
usually at dinner time. When I'm not at home, it
allows my wife to make dinner and keep an eye
on the kids and know what's going on the rest house,

(01:51:28):
as opposed to if you're in the kitchen and the
house can be like that. That does not work for us.
But we didn't see it the first time, and I
can't tell you how many times he walked in the house.
You're like, yeah, that the kids not gonna happen, you know,
and so you have to see it a second time. Well,
it looks like that's what's happening with the Colts. The

(01:51:51):
Colts have already been turned down by Matt Nagee, of course,
is the new head coach of the Chicago Bears. He
was he was reportedly offered the job by the Indianapolis Colts,
and he amongst some other candidates, even Josh McDaniels, have
passed after they've kicked the tires on Andrew Luck. Because look,

(01:52:12):
the sales of the Colts says, you got new GM,
you're gonna bring a new players, new personnel, but you
already have the quarterbacks set. You got Andrew Luck. You're
good to go, right, wasn't that the Hey, this is
why Jim Harbaugh could take the job, This is why
Nick Saban could take the job, and then you and
then here we are. This job has been opened and
the job has essentially been open for like two months.

(01:52:33):
Everybody knew Chuck boggana was getting fired. Why haven't they
hired anybody? I don't think it's not because they're waiting
on McDaniel as of yet. Maybe they get McDaniel. You know,
mc daniel still coaching in the newing them Patriots. Maybe
that's the possible that's why Matt Patricia and Josh McDaniel
haven't gotten taken a job just yet. But there's a
pretty good chance that the kicking the tires going, hey, hey,

(01:52:56):
how is Andrew Luck's shoulder? Let me make a couple
of balls. And if I can't get a definitive answer,
then it's a lot like the Chasier thing, right, Uh, Dan,
remember this story you just you you read in regards
to Ryan Chaseier's dad, Right, he wouldn't answer the question
in regards to whether or not Ryan Schaseier could walk,

(01:53:18):
and so like, Look, if he's not given you if
you're not saying absolutely can walk, then he's telling you
he is in the wheelchair. He cannot walk, right, Like
if you can walk, there wouldn't be like you can walk.
He'll you know, he'll get it back, he'll be find
he's already walking. But when you don't, like when you
can't say he's walking, that tells the non answer tells

(01:53:38):
you all you need to know about what the answers.
It's the same thing with Andrew Luck. Not getting an
answer about how his shoulder is tells you all you
need to know about his shoulder and that that's got
a freak. The Indianapolis calls out because that's kind of
all they have, right, Like, if you don't have Andrew Luck,
what else do you have? So I I think it's

(01:54:03):
gonna be fascinating to see what HAPs Luck did your company.
Prott was fine, It's okay. He looked like a guy
who could be a starting quarterback. But that team is
was built to be handed off to Luck. And my
thought was always you guys, remember this start of the
year was hey, who can heake care of? So many
games you lose? Don't play Andrew Luck. Have them come
back fully, fully healthy, make sure and maybe that's like

(01:54:24):
dream scenario. Somebody is going to somebody's gonna get this,
somebody's gonna get that house, and you're gonna love the house,
and you're gonna and you're gonna get the house below
market value and you're gonna do private school or you're
gonna like the public school even though it wasn't as
highly rated, and you're gonna love it. But there's something
wrong with that house that nobody has bought it yet.

(01:54:46):
And there's something wrong with the Indnanapolis Colts that these
coaches at Scott and Aggie, who's like, I mean, because
whatever you think of Mitchell Robinsky and Trabinsky's pitched to him,
I think was, hey, we got pretty good talent here, right,
and the and you know, the general manager of the
Chicago Bears just got an extension. Why do you get

(01:55:07):
an extension? Because they think he's doing a pretty good
job of rebuilding that roster. But if if you're a
quarterback guy and you just came from the Kansas City
Chiefs and you want to wear like a healthy Andrew
Luck or a healthy Mitchell Drabinsky, which is more likely
to succeed, it's a healthy Andrew Luck and when he
doesn't take the job, well, that should be some warning players.

(01:55:29):
That should be some warning players too. M M. Would

and Albuquerque, New Mexico. Take about folks. Plus you got
lipped in chicken soup which has saved the day for
the show in the break room. Real appreciate and who's
ever mugg This is yeah, I have no shame. I
have no shame. Ramo's quick question for you buyer this

(01:56:33):
for YouTube? Maybe for you music? Alright, so uh you
go to bed at night, right, and you forget to
brush your teeth and you get up, You're like, I
gotta brush my teeth and it's late at night, and
you walk in your toothbrushes over be found, but your
significant others too. Sprush is there? Do you use it? Okay?

(01:56:55):
That would be John Ramos? I know your bomb. No,
I don't think I could. Yeah, I'm probably gonna go
with a no on that as well. Really why, yeah,
I mean you're already changing germs at some point in
the evening. I don't have a problem with it. I
think that she would have My wife. My wife hates
me for it. She absolutely despises me for it. I'm

(01:57:17):
just saying you had to like it if the choices.
I can't buy my toothbrush, go to bed with with
yuck mouth, or just brush your teeth, especially if she's
already used it. She's not gonna use it for the night,
so it's gonna dry out by the time she used
it again. What's the big deal? Yeah? Yeah, I know
like how she would feel about it, so I wouldn't

(01:57:39):
want to. Would you know? You could dry it out?
Put it in front of a fan, used like a
like a little hand towel there and dry it out.
I need to try something out with music. Why wouldn't
you do it because you think it's gross. I'm a
little bit on the gross side. But more about Yeah,
I don't think my girlfriend would appreciate that very much.

(01:58:00):
She would definitely be grossed out by it. But why,
I mean, I take it you know you've you're kind
of quasi living in sin anyway. I'm sure you've exchanged
bodily fluids. So why, I just it's like your teeth,
your toothbrush, like it's just one of those things where
you don't necessarily have to share it if you don't

(01:58:20):
want to, and I'm sure she would prefer if I didn't. Alright, well,
good that you've already learned a good lesson, as I
think um Buyer knows and Raumas definitely knows. And I
know which is when you get married, what yours is
hers and what's hers is hers? That's actually that's actually written.

(01:58:42):
I believe that's the eleventh commandment. The eleventh commandment is
it's okay to checking with your fingers. That's the twelfth commandment.
Let's get to the pressment. The press this season make tough,
tough jobs easier with a free loaned to a program
from autos zone from a ced and repaired to exhaust
break jobs. They're over one specially tools that get the

(01:59:03):
job done right the positives required getting the zone auto
Zone Dan Buyer take his home when he got that
darn ankle of Steph Curry again, Doug tweaking it at
shoot around today, gonna force him to miss tonight's game
against the Clippers. I know it's early to mid January,
but now we've got ankle that's us popping up with
Steph Curry again. Giambob Meyers saying the game in San

(01:59:25):
Francisco that it wasn't on a dunk attempt. It was
maybe just he and some of the Warriors kind of
messing around. Tweaked the ankle. Noem I or x Ray.
He's needed, but he's not gonna play some night against
the Clippers. Ah that thinks. Let's take that now. He's
always he's been a Clipper killer, right, I mean, even
go back when Chris Paul is there. He's a Clipper killer.

(01:59:46):
But it's a it's a hard one because you know,
I probably just tweaked. It'll probably be fine, You're just
being precautious. You're just being cautious. But like, look, this
is the reason that he didn't get a huge contract
his in his first contract extension because of injury issues.
So you hold your breath. Was brought down dynasties more

(02:00:07):
than anything. Has not been a salary cap, not been trades,
not been coaching changes, It's not been direct funnel assaults.
It's been injuries stopped that Larry Bird's back, Magic Johnson's hamstring.
Remember the Lakers at the end of their three pet
when they beaten pour one by the Pistons. Uh, they

(02:00:28):
had massive injuries on that team and the dysfunction between
Shack and Kobe, injuries and dynasties. Hold your breath if
you're go and stay Warrior fans. One other note, James
Johnson of The Heat and Surgeon Baka. The Raptors suspended
one game for their fight last night. Didn't really fight,
it just kind of pushed each other. It was there
are a couple of swings. James Johnson apparently an m

(02:00:51):
M A fighter as well, So I'm not sure if
Sergebaka would want that. Yeah, but Surgeon Baca is from
the Congo dude, like I don't know. Plus he's built
like a He's a show in terms of his arms
and arm length. So I mean, look, I think James
Johnson would try and go ground and pound. I think
Sergebacco would try and stand up and use his length
and kind of boxed him. That's a fight I'd like

(02:01:12):
to see. How about this from college basketball some sad news.
University of Texas card Andrew Jones diagnosed with leukemia. He
had missed five of the of the team's last seven
games with an illness, and I was diagnosed. Averaging over
thirteen points per game this season. So Andrew Jones of
the Longhorns out after being diagnosed with leukemia. Look, it's
super super scary and obviously, I mean, first thing, you

(02:01:35):
wish this kid, Andrew Jones the best. Um, it's really
important to note there are many different kinds of leukemia.
One of our dear friends lives in Portland and her
name is her name is Kim. Kim was diagnosed with
the ukemia. This is going back like a year ago,
and you know, we were obviously very I mean, she's

(02:01:55):
got three kids, are beautiful and a great husband. One
of my good friends all she has to do is
take a pill and for the rest of her life
she's gonna be on medication and it keeps the leukemia
in check, and at some point they believe they'll be
able to beat the leukemia. So like, look, I will
you hear leukemia, and obviously if it's the bad kind,

(02:02:17):
you hope the kid gets every He'll get all the
best treatment at the University of Texas UM that you
can possibly get. But there's a possibility there there are
types of leukemia which is not only manageable, but you
can have a long and fruitful playing career. Will managing it?
You know, Doug yesterday and rank up we did who
were the four worst quarterbacks of the divisional round of

(02:02:37):
the NFL playoffs? Right Bovada has come out with the
odds on who will record the most passing yards in
the divisional playoff round. Tom Brady is the favorite, followed
by Drew Brees and Matt Ryan, but Blake Bortles and
Marcus Mariota both twelve to one with the worst odds
for the division around. Now, look, remember borders through for
what four thousand yards two years ago because they were

(02:02:58):
behind so much. So it's not out of the realm. Like,
that's not a terrible bet. Honestly, like say the say
the Steelers go up three touchdowns earlier, he's gonna have
to drop back and throw it. It's not a terrible bet.
I agree. I actually agree with that. As for the
most rushing yards in the division around, Leviyan Bell is
your favorite at three to two, but you've got Leonard

(02:03:20):
Fournett at nine to two and Derrick Henry at six
to one. De Marco Murray has been ruled out of
their game Saturday against New England. Yeah, I mean, Henry
is gonna get the ball. They're gonna feed him till
the purpse. But I think Levian Bell is a smart pick.
If you remember now that not only was Pittsburgh guilty
of five interceptions, but also guilty of not feeding Levyan
Bell the ball when he's gotten the ball, got a

(02:03:41):
ton of touches. He's been the best back in the league.
That will happen this weekend. Five to one. Antonio Braun
is the best odds for the most receiving yards. He
practiced fully today, on track to return from that caffe
injury as they will take on the Jaguars and The
Seahawks have made an official Adam's Adam feelings nine to one.
Brandon Cooks and Rob Gronkowski also at nine o one

(02:04:03):
is possible. Most receiving yards in the divisional rounds was
the last one go ahead. Seahawks made an official that
Darryl Bevil and Tom Cable are out, but the Chris
Rashard reports still out there nothing uh more from the
Seahawks on that matter. Get out was the press. I've
heard Christmas Shard is out, So maybe because maybe because

(02:04:24):
they couldn't get a couple of their targets to replace him.
That maybe maybe yangs on, but I was told that
he was out. Devin Booker of the Phoenix Suns gonna
join us. We'll ask him about scoring all these points,
but losing all these games and frustrating going through this
rebuilding process. And Miles Jack will join us up coming tomorrow.
That's all tomorrow on The Doug Gotlip Show, Fox Sports
