On this episode of 3 & Out, John Middlekauff reacts to Russell Wilson officially calling it a career and reportedly heading to CBS Sports. What kind of broadcaster could Russ become, and how should his NFL legacy be remembered?

John also discusses the viral moment from Ben Johnson’s press conference, where the Bears head coach was visibly irritated after a reporter’s phone went off during the session. Was the reaction justified, or was it much ado about nothing?

Plus, the Steelers continue to invest in their young core, handing out major extensions to Nick Herbig and Darnell Washington. John breaks down what the moves say about Pittsburgh’s long-term vision and why both players are important pieces of the franchise's future.

The conversation then shifts to Minnesota, where Kevin O’Connell addressed the quarterback situation and shared his thoughts on Kyler Murray and J.J. McCarthy. John analyzes the comments and what they could mean for the Vikings heading into the season.

John also reacts to former NFL safety Eric Weddle’s negative comments regarding Michigan quarterback Bryce Underwood, discussing expectations, evaluations, and the challenges young quarterbacks face before ever taking a snap at the next level.

To wrap things up, Fugazi Friday returns as John separates what's real from what's not around the NFL and sports world.

From quarterback news and coaching storylines to front-office decisions and college football debates, it’s all covered on this episode of 3 & Out.

Speaker 1 (00:01):
The volume. What is going on everybody? How are we
doing on this Fugazi Friday? I'm john this is three
and out podcast. Hopefully everyone's getting ready for the heat

(00:24):
because in Arizona it is rolling in. We're gonna talk
some football today. Russell Wilson retired, Ben Johnson not happy
with the media, a specific member within his phone, and
Eric Weddle does not think the Michigan quarterback can play
at all. A couple of fugazis one involving the trash,
another involving a wasp nest that I just cannot find.

(00:46):
And yeah, a lot of you guys have mail bag questions.
We'll get heavy into that over the next couple of
weeks as football winds down. I recorded an interview this
morning with Adam Peters, the GM of the Commanders that'll
come out on Monday morning, like Monday show will be
We'll be at him. He was on for like almost
forty minutes. He was he was awesome. I could have

(01:07):
talked to him for another forty but he had to
go to practice. Has a team to run. I was like,
I got a podcast to run, but I get it.
He was awesome. He's a stud so that'll be the plan.
Today's Pagazi Friday. We'll have Adam Peters Monday, and then
probably some football stuff throughout the week. But other than that,
you guys know the drill. If you listen on College Feed,
make sure you subscribe to three Now we're on Netflix,

(01:29):
go check that out as well. And and yeah, let's
just dive into some football. I do want to start
with Russell Wilson, who is going into television and he
chose that over opportunities to be a backup quarterback, which
I kind of understand. I'm guilty of this too. Over

(01:50):
the last several years, he's become a punching bag. I mean,
he has not played well. He's a shell of what
we saw and I think he speaks to something that
how you finish sometimes is how we remember you. And
it's a little unfair because I was lucky enough to

(02:11):
see him play live in the peak of his powers,
and he was an electric factory. And you never go
to a great restaurant, have an incredible meal and they
have like average mudpie or whatever the dessert is, and
be like, don't ever go to that restaurant. The steak
is incredible, but the apple pie does not hit right,

(02:33):
you would just be like, yeah, don't get the dessert.
And I think sometimes with Russell Wilson, all we talk
about is the Denver experience, Pittsburgh, the Giants. I mean
this year he was objectively really bad, right, he couldn't
play anymore. I think sometimes we throw around the word
quote unquote washed a little too easily, but he clearly was.

(02:55):
And he, like a lot of quote unquote washed former starters,
could have maintained a backup career and still made seven
figures and continue to play, but he chose not to.
And I got this DM actually from someone in Seattle,
which I think sums it up pretty well. Seeing Russell

(03:17):
Wilson's retirement announcement put a tear in my eye as
a lifelong Hawks fan. His early career was truly spectacular
and brought us our first championship. He was pure cinema
Steph Curry esque and a true magician in the pocket
with arguably the most beautiful ball of his era, deep

(03:37):
ball of his era. I will miss watching him play.
How will you remember his career? To me, he deserves
more credit for someone who changed the game for small
mobile quarterbacks. To me, that's Steph Curry is a good example.
Steph Curry's ability to shoot from everywhere completely changed basketball,
not only the numbers game of people shooting more threes,

(04:00):
but if you just watch where these guys shoot from,
they all copied him. I have friends that have kids
playing in high school basketball. They say, you go to
a game, people be shooting from half court. It's like, Bro,
you're not Steph. Let's drive the lane, buddy. But that's
what everyone wants to emulate. Hell, even going back to
when I was a little kid, you'd always try to
shoot from farther away. It was just the ball didn't

(04:21):
usually go in. And I think Russell Wilson dramatically changed football,
and I think it's kind of reverted back. But for
a decade long, people looked at guys sub six foot
and I would say sub six' one as guys that
could become franchise. Quarterbacks and that was never the case

(04:41):
in the history of THE. Nfl i've said this, before
WHEN i you, know being in THE, nfl you would
get to go to all. YEAR i didn't travel with the,
team BUT i would go to all the home, games
and whoever you would, play you wouldn't watch your own
team warm, up you would stand on the other side
of the field on your side deadline to watch whoever
you were playing warm up and get a feel for

(05:04):
what their guys look. Like and every single Week Ben,
Roethlisberger Eli, Manning Tom, brady you name, it whoever you were,
playing the quarterback would run out AND i remember, thinking
these guys are. Enormous and then WHEN i went and
did radio and postgame for The, RAIDERS i was going
to all their home, games and it would Be Carson,

(05:24):
palmer it would Be Philip, rivers it would Be Alex,
smith and you would, realize all these guys feel like
they're six' nine and the majority of them were somewhere
between six four and. Sixty six they feel. Much MORE
and i was going to a LOT of nba games at.
The time, it's like this guy's the same height As Like,
draymond green who's a power forward IN, the nba And Then,
russell wilson who was not six. Feet tall, allowed guys,

(05:48):
you know just as Recently As bryce Young To, kyler
Murray To, baker mayfield to these guys to get drafted number,
one overall win their height historically would have been viewed
as a major negative and honestly an untouchable player at,
that pick given. His HEIGHT and i think this happens

(06:10):
to a lot of like, famous people whether, they're musicians whether.
They're actresses they have, fantastic careers and then it, gets
weird and all you remember them for is, the weirdness where, it's,
Like Listen mike tyson might have gone off, the rails
but throw on YouTube type in, Nineteen Eighties, mike tyson
it was an, electric factory. YOU know I, understand kanye,

(06:31):
you know might have gone off the reservation a. Little
BIT but i remember in the, two THOUSANDS when i
was in high school, in college Besides like eminem and,
fifty cent there wasn't. Anything bigger and his shit still
Slaps when i'm at, The GYM and i think sometimes
that it's easy to forget about the good times when
the bad times are. So bad i'd argue that, in relationships,

(06:53):
you know you break up with somebody and it ends,
really poorly and at the time you're just everything's so
negative arounding, the relationship and then as you, get older
you look back and the majority of things that you
remember are the. Good times are. The positives and even if,
IT wasn't I heard colin using this analogy with McCarthy.
And aaron everything's kombay ad because as times, go by

(07:17):
you forget the negativity when you guys broke up and
the reason that that marriage coach and quarterback came to a.
Screeching halt that's what. Time does time heals a lot.
Of WOUNDS and i think, With Time russell wilson will
be remembered, dramatically different Especially. In seattle and let's, Face It,

(07:39):
john schneider for all the great players, he's picked and
He's picked hall, Of Famers russell wilson is the best
player he's. Ever drafted when you factor in the importance
of the quarterback position and you factor and it was
a third. Round pick and the other thing that he had,
to do and it's been, you know well documented for fifteen,
plus Years Is. Pete, Carroll One pete carroll Towers over russell,

(08:04):
and two if you go Back To PETE carroll's, usc
teams they look LIKE an. Nfl team they. Were Massive
matt lioner was an enormous. Human being his entire team, are.
Massive dudes what he hung his hat on on defense
was yet we don't do. Small corners We Need richard

(08:24):
sherman's our ideal. Body type, it's, like, well coach those
guys don't exactly grow, on trees like we'll find HIM
because i like guys, sixty, one, six two sixty three
TO play dB easier said. Than DONE and I, think
russell which was a polarizing player there because those guys
felt like he stole. Their, credit, well yeah that's what.
Quarterbacks do they steal all, the credit but they also

(08:45):
get all. The blame and then With the schneider Pick,
with russell the irony is it's the Greatest trade i'll.
Ever make he flipped Him, to denver who was, immediately
terrible and gave them a top. TEN pick i think
it was the fifth. Overall pick They Got, devin weatherspoon
and they unloaded the money and they shorted the player
at the. Right TIME but i remember as recently as,

(09:06):
TWENTY nineteen i went to a forty nine. Er game buddy.
Invited me he currently now is a big part of
like the forty nine ers soccer Team. In europe, Smart guy, stanford,
guy brilliant and he had great seats on the fifty.
Yard line it Was a monday night football game Against The,
seattle seahawks and that season ended up for the number one.

(09:28):
Overall seed the Forty nin ers ended up going To The,
super bowl but it was All Because drake greenlaw made
a tackle at the half yard Line On sunday Night
football week seventeen to save. Their season if they had lost,
that game the Forty nine ers would have been the.
Fifth seed seattle ended up being the fifth seed because
they lost. That GAME but i remember being at that
Game Against, russell wilson who went. Into overtime i'm pretty

(09:49):
sure it Was a monday night football game and he
was made some of the best players you'll. Ever see
and EVERY time i saw, HIM live i, left thinking
this guy is a jish on the football field because
he can't see over the. Offensive lineman how could. You
win you're, five ten, five eleven you're looking over guys six.
Foot five it's a basic. Math problem but what he

(10:10):
could do in his heyday was scramble to make plays
unlike anyone we've, ever seen and consistently do it for
like seven eight. Years straight he was. A. Badass now
he turned a lot of. People off was a, little corny.
Including myself the ONE thing i will give HIM is
i think his. Political act he feels more like he

(10:33):
should Be In, gavin newsom's, you know like right. Hand
man the way he, it's like is this a real?
Human being but like he's never really pivoted. From that that's.
Always been that's just kind of the way, he communicates
and by, all accounts that's the way he communicated in the.
Locker room that's why a lot turn a lot of.
People off but this is a production, based business and

(10:53):
for a long long period of Time, in seattle the
fucking guy produced at, a really really, high level and he.
Was exceptional now as toward the end of his career
when maybe he couldn't run, as well refused to run,
as well wanted to play like a, different quarterback which
would be the knock if you're really like dissecting, his
career just he should have embraced who he was until

(11:17):
the wheels. Fell off he was dead set on trying
to Be This Tom Brady peyton manning player that he
could never be because those guys could Never. Be russell
the reason they had to dominate within, the pocket because
those two guys couldn't run away from he, or you
and it was much easier for them to see given
that they're six five six, to six so they didn't

(11:37):
have to move because one they couldn't and two they
could see over the line. Of SCRIMMAGE so I Think
russell wilson's his downfall became trying to be something, you're
not which is a really. Good lesson lean into what
you're good at in whatever you do, in life and don't.
BE afraid i remember years ago when the FIRST time
i ever got on local television In The. BAY area

(12:00):
i had a radio show at, the time and we
did all the. Sports right we talked About, the warriors
we talked About The San, franco giants and they would
only let me talk football, on television and it used
to really. BOTHER me i don't KNOW if i. Was insecure,
I'm like i'm a. Media guy my radio show is, Doing,
well like why woul't you let me? DISCUSS everything i
remember my, partner guy who was also on those shows

(12:22):
and was allowed to. Talk everything, it's like, you're allowed
we have a radio. Show together they let you talk all,
these topics and they only let me talk forty nine
ers Or raiders, he's, like bro if you're gonna, get
pigeonholed at one thing in, this business being pigeonholed is
the football guy is the least of. Your worries and,
looking back he, was right, it's like who gives? A
shit they don't let you break down the bullpen Of.
The GIANTS and, i think, looking back like the One

(12:44):
thing i've, done since, It's like i'm, just, football, football football.
More FOOTBALL and i think some guys just lean into their. Skill,
set it's, you know the knock on some of. These
players like the ONE thing i Respect about lamar is
when he's, been healthy he Played Like. Lamar jackson. You
know that's the Thing With deshaun, WATSON'S like i want
to be a. Pocket quarterback, he's, like well not, gotta.
Work bro you are a Version Of. Russell wilson and

(13:07):
the biggest key to any player IN. The nfl once
you have a specific skill set, that works is like lean.
Into it now you can improve at, other things but
you don't need to try to be something that. You're
NOT and i think that has Clouded The russell wilson
talk over. The courses it got really ugly because even

(13:28):
this last year playing For the giants, was, like bro
you're not a. Pocket quarterback and maybe by that point
in time he couldn't move around like he. Once did
but there is no disputing a couple of things. With
him beside the electric factory ON. The tv he took
this shit really seriously and he did everything humanly possible
to get ready to play, every week which whether it

(13:48):
was from, you know rehab, at home to getting, there
early to grind in like he really really cared. About
football he did it in a way that some people thought, was,
like eh. Little much but at one point, IN Time
jj watt did the. Same thing the DIFFERENCE is jj
then could kind of relax as he got older and
felt like a much more normal Human and russell could

(14:09):
never really. Do THAT and i don't know if he
can ever break character when it comes, to TELEVISION which
i said this a couple of, weeks ago it's like,
television EXECUTIVES like i think most human beings. COULD BE
a tv, execut's like who do you want? To, hire
well who's the, most famous good looking? Former quarterback? Hire him, it's,
like well does he say? Anything, Interesting no he's never

(14:30):
said an interesting thing in his entire career put HIM.
ON tv i, was, like, FUCK hey i TURNED on
tv to. Be entertained this is the. Entertainment business but
it maybe if he'll break character and be a little
bit more normal and say some, actual things then. It'll
work but when it came to his Career, in seattle he,
was exceptional but it was. Also, weird like let's, face

(14:53):
it in the history of, the league, Great quarterbacks Hall,
of famers pro guys that Are Consistent pro bowl if
you are their offensive coordinator and you their head coach
is a, defensive guy they produce a ton of. Head
coaches Look At, tom brady Look At, peyton manning look at,
You Know, aaron rodgers Guys From. Green bay you know

(15:15):
McCarthy had play call and gave. It Up andy reid's
produced a BUNCH of nfl. Head Coaches Yet, russell wilson
all of his offensive coordinators. Got fired none of those
guys became. Head coaches It Took brian schottenneimer to like
the following decade to become a, head coach in partly
because it didn't Feel like jerry wanted to pay for a.
Head COACH and i actually am more Bullish On brian schottenheimer.

(15:38):
Than most but it's it's a. Weird career it's a
career that if you can remove the weirdness and just Go,
in seattle the guy. Was awesome he helped resurrect. A
franchise now He's not Mahomes Or josh Allen Or, lamar
like it's, not, like yeah this guy's clearly like carrying.

(15:59):
This thing the defense in, their heyday lob is one
of the great defenses of. All time they led the
league for four straight years in. Scoring defense so regardless
what it, looks like if it's as Physical, s seattle
if it's you, know whatever the modern day version of that,
now is if your defense for four straight years allows
the least amount of points IN the nfl, at minimum

(16:21):
you're gonna be a nine to ten. Win team then
if you Put A pro bowl Quarterback, like russell you're
gonna be consistently competing for championships and. Winning one and let's,
face it if they call a different play at the line,
of scrimmage he's a back to Back CHAMP and i
think that definitely ages way differently than it will as
just a, one championship which obviously derailed and fractured everything

(16:47):
in that locker room and it was never quite. The
Same but i'm completely with you having seen that guy
from probably thirteen fourteen up. Until nineteen he was an incredible.
Entertaining player he was really entertaining if you want to
play In the Hall. OF fame i have no issue.
WITH it i do think though the ending sometimes is

(17:10):
it's hard to shake. That stink it, really is and
it got, really weird, really fast and a lot of people,
got fired a lot of. Disasters SINCE but i just
the careers very. Him right it feels like it kind
of encapsulates him as. A person, But yeah i'm. WITH

(17:34):
you i just think the television experiences is not going to.
BE great i Feel like i'm shitting, on HIM where
i thoroughly enjoyed everything about watching the. Guy play today's
show is brought to you by our Presenting Sponsored Hard

(17:55):
Rock Bett. Florida sportsbook we talk a lot of football on,
the show but IT'S The, nba finals not. GONNA lie
i don't Like. THE knicks i Love. THE knicks i
got in on him probably ten days ago at four.
To one now. They're here they are currently On Hard
rock bet plus one sixty to WIN The. Nba finals
they're also an Underdog in game One In san Antonio on.

(18:17):
Wednesday night they're four and a half. Point underdog, You
Know Victor webman yama's favored to WIN. The Mvp san
antonio's favored to win. THIS series i believe it's the.
Next time, and obviously if you're gonna bet him to win,
the series it's hard to Bet Against jalen brunson BEING.
The mvp we have had some recent, examples though a
couple of Years Ago. JALEN brown i Remember When andrea guidala.

(18:39):
WON it, i think if, you, go well who could
WIN the mvp if It Wasn't. Jalen brown if You Are,
jalen brunson if you wanted to get, some odds You
Know Karl anthony towns twenty, To one OG's forty. To
one bridges is one hundred and fifty. To ONE so
i think the safe Bet. Is brunson but they got
a lot of firepower defensively to throw. IT in i

(19:01):
can't wait for this. Series again i'm On. THE knicks
i Think the knicks. WIN it i think it's gonna,
Be EXCELLENT but i think This Is new. York's time
so same. Game parlays you want To Bet Victor webbin yama,
Triple Double Karl, anthony towns, you know double Double With
jalen brunson's over. On points you can do whatever you want.
TO do I Think jalen brunston goes Nuts and victor.

(19:25):
GOES no i think it's gonna. Be fantastic so try
Your first Better Than hard rock bet today and you
can score one hundred and fifteen bonus bets if, you
win just place, five dollars and if, it hits you
get not only your winnings but also an extra hundred
and fifteen. Bonus bets And Sure hard Rock is florida's,
only sportsbook but you don't have to Be. In florida
it's join. The party it's all over, The, Place, Arizona, Ohio, Jersey, Indiana, Tennessee, Virginia, Illinois.

(19:46):
Colorado Michigan don dardrock bet. App today let's get the.
PARTY started I Saw BEN johnson i was watching listen
to his press conference doing, some chores because that's what.
You know you get forty years old and you're paying
the mortgage that you still do chores as part, Of

(20:07):
life so buckle up, for you. Young fellas it. Never Changes.
Ben johnson you know a lot of these reporters now
when they go to these, press conferences use their phone
as a recorder because it has. That device and this
dude's phone was Ringing And ben johnson. Was, pissed now
you could tell early on in the, press Conference Like
ben johnson was not going up there to. Hold court

(20:28):
this was not gonna be. A McVeigh, You Know, mike tomlin,
YOU know i was watching McCarthy just loose and having a.
Good time like you could tell he was being. Pretty
serious the, phone rings. He's pissed he hands the, phone
away he doesn't want to. GET interrupted i was thinking
about this Because Famously matt patricia did this one Time.

(20:49):
In detroit he told a guy to sit up straight
and he. GOT roasted i do think the. MESSENGER matters,
i mean at, The Time matt patricia's teams. Were terrible
he dressed like, a bum and props, to him he's
lost a bunch of weight at. The time he's just.
Extremely obese, it's, like bro you're a. Train wreck your
team's a. TRAIN wreck i don't, know you, And listen

(21:11):
i'm not wanting to defend. The media they can, be
slobs but to tell a guy to sit up straight
like that guy doesn't work. For You if sean McVay
Or andy reid want to pull, that off. They could.
You can't And Even ben johnson kind of going nuts on,
The Phone matt everflus couldn't. Do that he looked like.
A clown but When You're, ben johnson you bring this

(21:34):
serious NATURE that i Think the belichick guys always tried.
To bring the problem was they could never figure out the.
Coaching part when they got Away. From bill bill could
act like a complete asshole in scenarios that other people.
Could not it was because he was winning rings every.
Other year if, he wasn't and we saw what happened when,

(21:54):
that stopped that no. Longer worked everyone Turned. On. Bill
Obviously This north carolina experience has been a complete train
wreck for a year and a half because that way
of carrying yourself doesn't work when people, think like what are? You?
Doing bro AND when I Watch, BEN johnson i Go

(22:15):
the bears are extremely lucky their franchise was saved by.
THIS guy, i mean for a franchise that could never get.
IT right a coach always felt like they hired the.
WRONG guy, i Mean ebra flus is about as low
as you, can get and he seems like a. Nice
guy the forty nine ers just hired him to some

(22:35):
made up. COACHING position, i, mean truly just a MADE
up i don't know why they do. THIS stuff i
have nothing but Respect for kyle and his coaching acumen
and the defensive coordinators. He hires but he did It
With brandon saley a couple of, years AGO who i
think is much more accomplished as a defensive Mind, than
ebraflus and at least he goes back To like fangio

(22:58):
and had. Some SUCCESS like i just don't see It.
WITH eberflus i wouldn't hire him all my staff just
because he's a. Nice GUY but i think sometimes in these,
press conferences which is a huge part of, your job,
you know a massive part of your gig as a,
head coach AS a gm is the, media aspect talking

(23:18):
in front. Of. People community now now with, Your team
i'm talking communicating with, the press, Doing podcasts and this
was a big deal like in. The elections now, it's
like are you gonna be willing to just? Do podcasts
and let, it rip because if you're, not like you're,
gonna like it's not. Gonna work it's just part of
our culture now doing, these shows doing, these hits and
not knowing the questions that, are coming like if you

(23:40):
can't do an interview with someone for a longer period
of time and not have LIKE when i have someone on,
the show they, don't, go hey can you give me
the seventeen questions you're gonna ask our head coach OR.
A gm that's not the way. It works and again
you're coming. On Me it's i'm not. A journalist i'm
not asking you about some of THESE questions i know
you don't want to talk ABOUT because i don't. Truly

(24:02):
care that's not what this. Is about but part of
being able to handle yourself unless you're gonna have. Bad
Days And ben johnson was clearly on one, that DAY
and i think he the equity he built in one
year allows us to go. Feels right Yet when patricia,
Did it, you're like this thing it's never. Gonna work

(24:24):
this thing's over before it. EVEN started I saw i
Was watching colin today and he went in On the
Steelers For darnell washington signed, a Contract And nick herbig signed,
A contract and if you add up the money they
gave the guys like a combined sixty. Million DOLLARS now

(24:45):
i think you, could say given a guy a, four
year one hundred million dollar contract who's not even technically,
your starter. LITTLE risky i like, the player but again
little risky betting on. THE future i. Get It, darnel
washington tied ends are. So Cheap, drake london, good player
just got a one hundred million. Dollars Guarantee, christian watson

(25:08):
WHO again. I like i am Not Anti. Christian watson
he's a game changing player when he's on the field
in terms Of defensive coaches have to account for his.
Elite speed google is production in, this career Not Exactly
marvin harrison, year in. Year out this guy's not catching
one hundred balls. A year it's got like thirty five million.

(25:28):
Dollars guaranteed so when you sign players to, cheaper deals
especially at, TIGHT ends i have no issue. With it
the issue With the steelers in their CONTRACT was i, respect,
loyalty right but, to me loyalty in business is different than,
Human beings like if you're my, close friend, my family,

(25:51):
my wife my children as they. GROW older i have.
One child NOW hopefully i. Have children we'll. See him
is this now? Not easy props to your parents? Multiple,
kids like there's a level of loyalty certain people get
in my life from a personal standpoint that it has
to be pretty egregious for you to. LOSE that i think, in,

(26:13):
business though you have to be. Pretty, selective like we
can do really good, things together make a lot of,
money together but if we get to a point where
we have, some questions we have to have. Tough conversations this,
is business this is. Not personal you have to be
able to separate. The two and sports can become very

(26:35):
intertwined because you can love the. Human BEING and I.
Love tj watt how hard he plays everything he's accomplished
in his career by, all accounts what he means in that,
locker room, his leadership his just overall presence in. The
franchise but twenty twenty. Four happened played, seventeen games he

(26:58):
didn't even have, twelve sacks and he barely cracked the
top twenty. In pressures so when he starts making a
big deal he wants a. New deal is this the?
Right Time like it's one thing to ask for a
raise when you just had a record. Year revenue it's
another thing to ask for a raise when you haven't
hit your quota for. Four quarters probably just try to

(27:20):
make some deals and get the boss a little. More,
excited Yet the steelers capitulated last year and gave him
over one hundred million dollars guaranteed coming off a season
that like this could be going the. Other way then
last year was, banged up and let's face it didn't
feel like he had the. Same juice so when you

(27:40):
want to be critical of, THEIR contracts I Like darnault
washington and think he could have made a lot more
if he ever chose to be a right tackle instead
of a. Tight end but he saw ad tight end
for twenty million. Dollars guaranteed that's. FREAKING nothing, i mean
these wide receivers are are are getting an obscene amount,
of money and not everyone's exactly pooka Nakuad. Justin JEFFERSON

(28:02):
but i Think the steelers, biggest regret and there is
no doubt. About it if they could have a, do
over they never would have given him that. Big contract
they'd already given him big. Contract extensions it's one thing
To Give miles garrett a contract extension when you feel
like his play is not slipping. At all they gave
him one and then he went out and had twenty.
FIVE sacks I. Think tj watt is a good example

(28:22):
when loyalty can jade your view of how productive a,
guy is because the end of, the day there's a production,
based business and when you stop producing in your, skill
set because you know physically certain positions are, so demanding

(28:42):
if you lose fifteen percent of, your juice you're not
even remotely the. Same player and the Reason the steelers
have had these cap issues and they're already reporting about
this part Of this nick her big deal, is, like
well it's like they're kind of STUCK. With. Tj Watt
miles garrett could have been paid any amount, of money
they would not have been stuck with him because everyone

(29:03):
would have done whatever it took to try to. Get
him if they put him on. The block if THEY.
Put tj watt on the block, right now what do
you think they're getting? For him one people would, be
like you're gonna eat some of. That MONEY and i Think,
the steelers they have some very commendable qualities as, An
organization but sometimes loyalty can really screw you up because

(29:27):
you gotta be able to separate. The person, great guy
everything we want in. A player he's everything we look
for In a. Steeler defender, and, like yeah at this point,
in time we can't give you. An extension this. CAN'T
happen I saw kevin O'Connell was asked today he gave
a press conference ABOUT the Jj McCarthy kyler. Murray thing,

(29:51):
he's like, YOU know i know. You guys, YOU know
i understand the interpretation and what kind of put it on. The,
MEDIA like, i know So what i'm seeing behind, closed
doors how hard, everyone's working how professional the. Relationship is, it's, like,
hey guys the media did not create. This Story kyler
murray didn't create. THIS story jj McCarthy answered a question

(30:15):
that IS a bp. Fucking, fastball, hey listen got my.
Head down. I'M working I. Respect kyler i'm gonna DO
everything i can to be the. Best, player uh he's
played this league for a. Long time i'm looking forward to.
THE competition i know we have my expectations here because
they drafted, me high have ben here for. A while
i know, the offense can't wait for training camp. He
gave he did. The opposite he created something out. OF

(30:38):
nothing i said the most. That DAY what i respect
the Most about kyler, is, like listen we mature, as
men usually slower. Than WOMEN and, I, think i like many,
of you like throughout, our twenties way different person at,
twenty eight, twenty nine thirty years old than you were at,
twenty one twenty two. Years old and he answer that

(31:00):
question Just Like tom Brady Or peyton manning would answer.
The THING and jj McCarthy answered the question like a
clueless young player who was going to create a story
in which. He did and sometimes the media is to
blame about, stuff, Like Yeah jordan lebron is just a
created fucking story that just will. NEVER die i totally

(31:22):
understand happens a lot in basketball with, potential trades like
why are we trading this guy when the team's not trading?
This guy but, you know in football. With quarter once upon,
A Time, bill walsh if you ever watched the Forty
nine ers DOCUMENTARY, on amc it was like nineteen eighty
eight or, Eighty seven montana had been banged Up And
bill walsh was in, An interview, he's, like yeah we

(31:43):
got a, Quarterback controversy like the media is not creating
a quarterback controversy when the head coach tells, you, that
right this is not a. CREATED narrative jj McCarthy created this.
Entire THING and i think if you give the guy,
true serum if you could have a couple of beers,
WITH him i think he'd be the first to tell

(32:04):
you it's never. Gonna work and this thing is over
before it. Even started Speaking of, Michigan Quarterbacks eric weddle.
ABSOLUTE stud i guess he's got a kid who makes you.
Feel old his kid's about to go, to college some,
five star, four star big, time safety going to all the,
top schools and he's. A Youth eric Weddle's a. Utah

(32:27):
Guy So eric weddle not only Would Know, kyle whittingham
he would know him really well Because When eric weddle,
Played There kyle whittingham was on the staff and on
the defensive side of. The ball So When eric weddle
talks about something and he's gonna know coaches, on this
he's gonna. Know, people now he played in the. League

(32:49):
forever he played against some of the greatest players in
the history of the sport at the. Quarterback position he's
gonna have a pretty good idea just based on a
practice or based on, a, game, like yeah something's a.
Little off and he went on, A Podcast i Guess
in colorado and Essentially Said brice underwood can't throw and
it's not gonna be able to play the. Quarterback POSITION

(33:11):
and i think what he's saying can't throw doesn't mean
he actually. Can't throw if You Watch, brice underwood he
can throw a, hard ball like he has a lot
of velocity on. HIS ball i think he means like
he's not an, accurate passer he has. No touch he
can't play the. Quarterback POSITION and i think this brings
up a big picture college. Football THING if i was

(33:31):
a general manager at a top program or a head
coach at the, TOP program i, would never not in
a million, fucking years pay millions of dollars for a high.
School quarterback it would. Never happen it's just not worth
it because we are seeing year after year. After year

(33:51):
if you're gonna pay the millions of dollars for a
guy that you have no clue, can play especially at the,
quarterback position translating from, high school which is the. Biggest
jump you could argue going from high school to major
college football is a bigger jump than Going From ohio
state TO. THE nfl i feel pretty confident. Saying that
i'm not saying Going From ohio state TO the nfl

(34:13):
or GOING from usc TO the nfl isn't a. Big
JUMP but i think it's way harder because you are
playing a bunch of guys that will never sniff ever
playing a football. Field again you're playing Against other division,
one players and if you're at a big, time school
you're playing a LOT of nfl guys week in, week
out especially if you're a good team in. The playoffs
but look at the success these programs have had of

(34:33):
just buying. College quarterbacks so instead of giving three, FOUR
five i mean they gave him like fifteen, million dollars
just go out and buy another quarterback in. The country
look at in the ender just won the. National championship
what do they Do For nata Mendoza cal here's a
million bucks or a couple. Million bucks organs made a living off.

(34:54):
Bow Knicks, Dylan gabriel dante More here clemson they get
crushed because they never go in. The portal, it's, like
yeah you just Stuck With kate klubnick. Your program if
you wanted to buy a two million dollar, free agent you.
Easily could What Did texas tech, do well this guy's not.
Good enough let's Go get sorsby who was already making
a Million Dollars miami national championship. Last Year Boom. Carson

(35:17):
beck we could debate like it's kind of a, bold
move but. It worked it, freaking WORKED and i Think
sometimes i've heard stories. ABOUT this i don't know exactly,
the Budget but george is very hesitant on high school
prospects paying the premiums against other schools because the guys

(35:41):
already on, their ROSTER and i think a lot of
schools tread. Very lightly it's one thing if it's, you
know think about some of the best players in the country,
that transferred they'd already. Established themselves i'm not saying do
not recruit high, school players especially with. Other Positions rvel
reese coming out of high school probably. Pretty Right micah
Parsons Or, saquon Barkley Like, julio jones like they are.

(36:04):
Position players it's clear that if we can, Get coaches
guy the. Right way he's gonna be, a star. But
Quarterback so i'm not ending this guy's career just because
Of What eric, weddle said or because of how he
played last Year Under, sharon moore as, he was, you
know banging the banging his assistant all year and liking Chicks.

(36:25):
On instagram clearly not the most focused. Head coach so
the upgraded head coach. Is DRAMATIC but I Think eric
weddle is just saying like this ain't. Gonna WORK and
i think it happens all the time in. COLLEGE football
i just don't know why these boosters feel compelled to

(36:45):
like we got to buy this college quarterback when all
these college quarterbacks are transferring every. SINGLE year i think

(37:06):
that's pretty. Much It Before. Fugazi friday we're gonna keep
it a little shorter. To day But My fugazi Friday
is i'm a. Big believer in, my house, pretty. Regimented
right she does, CERTAIN things i do, certain things and
it kind of makes us flow right when it comes
to different things around. The house and one of my

(37:28):
things is is the trash and the recycling and. The recycling,
for example like, most people we get A million amazon boxes,
a week and, other boxes she just throws it in.
The garage so at a couple different points during THE
week i have to get, the boxes stomp, on them
throw them in, the recycling in. THE trash i mainly
take the trash to the trash and then Every SINGLE

(37:51):
thursday i put the. Trash out well, this Morning on,
THURSDAY morning i was Recording With adam peters and it
was supposed to be at seven. THIRTY am i got
pushed back little BIT and i was just out of
my routine because the FIRST thing i, usually do, wake
up give the kid, a bottle throw in a little,
little pouch have a. Little coffee he goes back. To,
Bed boom i'm, out there. Send it but my rhythm

(38:13):
was off a little bit TODAY and i, WAS, thinking
i like many, of you surely get a million phone
calls and now the new thing is text messages every.
Single Day, hey john this so. And so we're painting in.
Your area we'll paint your house for twenty. Percent Off,
hey john we're. Tree REMOVAL so i don't have. FUCKING
trees i. GOT cactuses i don't need a. Tree Removal,

(38:34):
hey john we're, Doing lighting we're, DOING windows i get
inundated with text. MESSAGES technology i get alerts for overdrafts for, You, Know,
travis matt you. NAME it i get a million alerts through.
Banking phone it never it's, never ending. YOU know i
was thinking TODAY because i forgot, the trash and anyone
knows where. The baby my trash is. Already full so

(38:57):
we have absolutely no chance to make it another seven
days till the trash. Removal comes we. Are fucked this
happened to us. ONCE before i had to eventually to
throw about like twelve bags in the back of my
car and go to kind of the, you know the
local grocery store to the back throw it away when
no one. Was looking why can't something as simple as

(39:21):
trash day give, you know like when you order someone
to come fix something like, a plumber, you know like
someone to fix. Your, fridge whoever they give you, a
window you buy. Some furniture, they're like we're gonna be
there from eight am to one in. The afternoon it
was like pretty, big window. You KNOW do i go?

(39:42):
Get BREAKFAST can i go to? The gym whenever you
try to, do that you always get. The call whenever
you sit there, and wait they don't come to. The
end but at least what they, do, is hey thirty
minutes before you will get, an alert our driver is on.
Your way. LIKE cool i, was thinking maybe this happens
some of the places where you you, guys live think
how easy it would be for the, trash, like hey

(40:03):
the trash guy will be in your neighborhood in the next.
Thirty minutes so just, in case you have a million things,
going on you got, babies crying YOU got, gm interviews
YOU got i don't know, fucking life you just get A, Text,
meissa oh forgot to put? That out what to? Save me,
because now and it's, MY fault i. Take accountability it's

(40:23):
it's a basic action that people have been doing since
the history of a, trash Removal Since tony soprano and
the boys created a. Great BUSINESS but i just we
just have too much technology for this not to. Be solvable,
and listen you could you could, opt out, LIKE hey
i don't need, TEXT messages i don't, NEED emails i

(40:46):
don't need to. Be alerted but couldn't this been a
pretty simple Of like i'm, sitting, here boom because what
HAPPENED was i had finished, the INTERVIEW and i had
opened the office DOOR and i heard that SOUND and
i WENT and i it WAS like i could hear
it in front of like the people that back up
to me on their side of, The, street like oh,
my god he's. On there he usually comes my side

(41:08):
and then works his way back, like this AND so.
I run i couldn't tell because none of the bins.
Were open so it was a little weird because my
next two neighbors. They're bins they didn't even have. Bins
Out so, i'm, like well, you know it Looks like
jason just. Got back maybe he put. His away my
other neighbors go back and Forth. In montana they haven't even.

(41:30):
Been HERE so i walked like three, DOORS down i check.
IT'S empty, i went, holy shit, and yeah now WE
have i mean just bags of diapers. In there. It is.
It's bad can't we just use utilized technology twenty? Twenty
six can't we just get with? The? Times uh the

(41:51):
other fugazi is when you Live, in arizona YOU get
i learned THIS when i first. Moved here when we
were live in, an apartment you didn't really. Get this
but when you remember we bought this house and when
we finally moved in a couple, months in it, was
like do we have a cricket nest in? Our house
there were just, crickets everywhere and when it, gets hot

(42:12):
these bugs, move inside and bugs are just a big
issue when you live in. The desert SO then i
started noticing like other homes just had like a pest
guy come like once once. A MONTH and i, would
say it's pretty pretty normal for, a home which didn't
happen for me in THE when i Lived. In california
you have a, pest guy like. On retainer, you pay,

(42:34):
you know it's like thirty five bucks. A month, they
come they spray around the house and inside, the house
and you never. See bugs, last year we have a
pool and the pool is like, you know it's like
five feet deep in the in the middle. Of it
there's a specific term, for it but it's it's more
of a. LOUNGE pool, i mean it's a normal, sized
pool but it's just. Not deep it's not one where
you'd be. DIVING into i mean you can dive in like.

(42:56):
Butt first but so she had. A friend they're not even,
friends anymore classic, like chicks, you know they like. Best
friends and then they like hate. Each other i've one
thing a lot different with guys than girls is PEOPLE
that i get really. Close to now we might like
live in, different areas not talk, as much, get married to,

(43:16):
have kids you don't see, each other but they're still
like your. Close friends women can go through like my,
best friend they hate, each other never, talk again go their.
Separate way it happens a lot. Their relationships they get,
really deep, really fast and then it just can. Be
explosive but you have this friend who have, this pool
and they Had a baja shelf and On the baja

(43:37):
shelf these two little like seats that are in. The
pool it was. Really COOL so i was. LAST year i,
was like, you know our pool, was fine but we
had to it had it was like. An original, you
know it's twenty five. Years old, it's like, you know
it's kind. Of stained let's get the new. Pebble tech
let's pebble. Teck it and While we, PEBBLETECH did i,
was like could you put a. Baja shelf, he's, like yeah,
we do. No problem so you Put a. Baja shelf

(43:58):
but the we put it on backs up to like.
This fence there's like a wash on the, other side
and there's clearly a. Wasp nest and we have, figured out,
you know especially in, this area how to take, out
rattlesnakes how to snake proof, your house how to bug proof.
Your house there's nothing you can do. To wasp call the.
Pest GUY if i don't know where the, nest is

(44:20):
THERE'S nothing i. Can do there's not a contraption to
slow these. Fuckers down because, it's hot so the wast
all fly into, the pool they come to, hang out they,
cool off and they're. JUST relentless, i mean two, WEEKS
ago I don't i can't REMEMBER if i told this
story here or. Somewhere else one got into, my house
got under, my shirt bit my back and FELT like
i got shot by a nine milimeter most Painful thing
i've had in a, long time ripped the shirt off

(44:42):
and bit me again on the hand or stung. Me
again it was. Fucking awful these wasps, are everywhere AND
nothing i. CAN do, i mean EVERY time i go
to the, pest guy, he's like, you know if we
don't know where, that uh that nest is just you fighting.
Uphill BATTLE so i called THE. Ahoa A today, i'm,
like hey could you send a guy out it's on,
this side it's not necessarily, someone's property and just see

(45:02):
if you can find a nest. OR spray i, don't
know but these wass you can't ever. Catch them, you
know every time you try to spray where, they're at they.
Take off. They're quick, they're like, you know like A
little tyreek hill in. Their prime they. Move quick no
one can, cover them no one can. Kill them they're.
Just RELENTLESS and i just don't understand how we figured

(45:24):
out how to take out all these different animals, and
insects yet the wass is just. LITERALLY unaffected, i mean
if you do not know where their, home is they're going.
To dominate and if you're in an area, that's HOT
and i MUST have i, don't KNOW maybe i got
the only pool in these like four or five. House
radius they just live in that pool that their. Friends

(45:47):
come they try to fly in your house sometimes probably
looking for their FRIEND that i killed after it's, Stung
me and it. Just sucks IT'S like i don't know
where the. Nest is i'm like looking over the fence
at my kind of kitty. Quarter neighbor is the wash nest.
In THERE should i walk around the block and knock
on his door and, be like, you know you might
have a. WAST nest i will pay for my own

(46:08):
pest guy to come over here and shoot the. Fucking
THING but i don't even know if, it's here but
it might be in some of. Your bushes, MAYBE not i.
Don't KNOW but i just want. These WASPS so i
paid to Get this, baja shelf these two chairs that
cost like one thousand, dollars each which look, pretty SWEET
but i can't use them because that's where the wasts.
Hang out, it sucks and these things got. ME rattled

(46:29):
i TRIED to i looked it Up. On amazon they
had this thing you pour in, the pool it'll kill
them when, they land didn't. Fhase them other thing that
like they'll be drawn to and stick to didn't. Phase
them none of. Them went so it's, basically like, you
Know The super bowl and the Wass, are Seattle And
I'm drake May And will campbell because they are dominating

(46:50):
my life. Right now the volume
