Speaker 1 (00:01):
The volume.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
What's up, guys.

Speaker 3 (00:12):
It's Tuesday, August first, and Dean and I got a
brand new episode of Three Rounds, brought to you by
Total Wireless, the official wireless provider of UFC. They're in
your corner with unlimited five G data that will not
slow you down. And I'm back for another episode of
Three Rounds with the boy, Dean Thomas.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
What's up, Dan? What are you doing?

Speaker 4 (00:31):
I'm good man, just happy to be back.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
Man.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
Ready to chop it up with my homie and kick
it and I get some get some words out there.

Speaker 3 (00:38):
I hope your training camp has gone well, because this
is gonna be a fight. I'm telling I'm trying to
drag you into deep waters this time. Let's come drag,
drag you into deep waters and drown you.

Speaker 4 (00:47):
I'm built for deep waters, homie.

Speaker 3 (00:49):
Okay, all right, all right, all right, guys, Hey, it's
time for the fight me versus Dean. The trilogy starts
right now.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
Round one.

Speaker 3 (01:04):
So Dean Thomas last week had some words to say
about the challenger for the middleweight champion this weekend, hamsat jamayav.
Dean had this to say, Essentially, it would be a
nightmare if Ham's at Jamayah is to become the UFC
middleweight champion. Dean Thomas has some strong opinions lately. Dean,

(01:27):
I'm gonna give you the floor right now to correct yourself.
I'm gonna give you an opportunity, Dean Thomas, to get
it right, because right now you're walking around with your
foot in your mouth.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
I'm giving you a chance to walk you back. Dean.

Speaker 1 (01:39):
I am not gonna walk this back. In fact, I'm
gonna double down and just clarify it because I think
everybody missed the point of what I was trying to make.
I was saying that if Ham's out Jamaia becomes champion,
it's gonna be a disaster because he is going to
hold the division up.

Speaker 4 (01:56):
He doesn't fight enough.

Speaker 1 (01:57):
He this is a man whoeverges like one fight a
year and he's not even.

Speaker 4 (02:01):
A champion yet.

Speaker 3 (02:03):
Okay, okay, I get what you're saying in that regard,
but I took it as Tom's out before. There were
rumors that he couldn't get into the country, right, Remember
that Tomsa got visa issues, can't get into the United States.

Speaker 2 (02:18):
That's why challin them did that video while.

Speaker 3 (02:20):
Backwards chills like, but hom'sad's gonna fight in Chicago, but
he can't get into American and Amsaud is next to
his manager. The camera pans to him showing he was
he was already here. He's here now, Dean, if that
was an issue prior to where he couldn't get into
the country, clearly he's able to get into the country now.

(02:40):
I feel like that played a part into the limited schedule.
So now it seems like everything's on the table so
he can be more active. And I know the guy
loves to fight, because Dean, to count your point, this
is the guy that fought two times in a week
on Fight Island, fought three times in the first four
months of his career. Where he can get back into
the United States, So here you go. I tried to

(03:02):
let you walk it back. Now I had to correct
you myself.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
Yeah, but the UFC hasn't They only didn't do fights
in the US. There's been fights in Abu Dhabi, there's
been fights in other countries in which he could have fought, but.

Speaker 4 (03:14):
He still chose to only fight once a year.

Speaker 1 (03:16):
And when you only fight once a year if you're
the champion, imagine how how free infrequent he's gonna fight.

Speaker 4 (03:22):
You know who gets tell about that.

Speaker 1 (03:23):
Guys like Ibabal, guys like ky Obohio, guys like ryaner
de Ritter, those all those guys have to suffer and
take stupid fights or interim championships because the champion doesn't fight.
That's what I'm saying. If he's gonna be champion, all
I want him to do is to fight more.

Speaker 2 (03:38):
No, I understand. But again, I only believe.

Speaker 3 (03:42):
And I'm only basing this in fact, you know, I'm
basing it in the fact that let me look at this.
I'm gonna look at this right now. In terms of
Hamasat Chamayah, I believe that he was very active in
the very bit of the beginning of his career. In
the beginning, I believe, and but but Dean and he
was fighting in Abu Dabi.

Speaker 2 (04:02):
That's when they had fights.

Speaker 3 (04:04):
In twenty twenty, when he made his debut, he fought
against uh Reese McKee and Meer Shark.

Speaker 2 (04:12):
He also fought that kid John Phillips on Fight Island.
In twenty one.

Speaker 3 (04:17):
When he could fight, he fought Lee Jing. Leon was
scheduled to fight Leon Edwards twenty two. He fought Gilbert Burns.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
Wait a minute, he was scheduled to fight Leon.

Speaker 4 (04:26):
Why did he fight Leon?

Speaker 2 (04:27):
Leon got heard? Didn't he wasn't it?

Speaker 4 (04:31):
No, it could have been.

Speaker 1 (04:32):
I'm not saying it was his fault, but I'm just
saying he's had a history of not being all that
reliable and showing up and not fighting all that much.

Speaker 3 (04:40):
Well, he hadn't been that active recently. But if we
go back and we look at what he was at
least two fights a year. I mean, I think that's
what champions are averaging. Champions are averaging two fights a year.
If he's in line with that, you can't have a problem.
Hams out your mile. I thought you were just talking
about the visa issue. That would have been a stronger

(05:02):
argument for me. Instead of saying, what, the guy's in active.

Speaker 4 (05:07):
I'm saying he's inactive.

Speaker 1 (05:08):
Regardless of the situation, He's inactive, and it just turns
out that he Hamzad actually did pull out of the
Leon fight.

Speaker 2 (05:16):
Due to Corona's coverage.

Speaker 4 (05:17):
Now, I'm not saying Jude.

Speaker 2 (05:19):
And almost died. He was at the hospital, BI almost died.

Speaker 4 (05:22):
I know that's not the point, though. The point is
he's still inactive. The point is he's still inactive.

Speaker 2 (05:28):
But Dean, he was sick, almost dying. They said.

Speaker 3 (05:31):
That's when they said he was training so hard that
he was making himself sicky.

Speaker 4 (05:35):
He still has a history of not fighting.

Speaker 3 (05:37):
Dean, You're you're on that shit boy. You come with
the shits today, you come with it and you tripping.
Because if a man is on his death head. We
saw the photos of hamzat Chimaya struggling. I believe that
if he is to become champion, he would be back
in line with what he was prior. But I would
not be so quick to write off the champ. Drake's

(05:59):
dup plus see we know, oh but that has gotten
everybody to this point. This guy has title defense. After
the title defense, Chicago's gonna be fun. I just got
off the stool. Coaches like Yo, DC, that was a
good round. That's on us, that's one of us.

Speaker 2 (06:20):
That was a good round. Okay, Kabiev no Mega met off.

Speaker 3 (06:27):
When this man talks, people listens, I don't know if
anyone has had more of a lasting impact in a
very long time. So Kabibe does these things where it's
a bit of a night with kabebe where you get
to go. You sit in an audience and he feels
questions from a moderator. Every time this man talked, Connor

(06:47):
McGregor will be brought up. Well, Connor McGregor was brought
up the other day, uh when Kabeb.

Speaker 2 (06:55):
Was having his sit down.

Speaker 3 (06:56):
In this conversation, when he was asked about Connor, Kabib
talked about the impact that Connor could have and how
he's missing, how he's missing opportunities to do better. Kabib said,
I think he has a chance to come back. He
has to change his life. Though, why am I talking
about this. If he's going to change, it could change
with him so many other lives too. That's why I

(07:19):
wish him to change himself. If he's not going to change,
it will be punishment for the rest of his life.
So I think he's talking about how kind of keeps
running into issues. That's his punishments. What do you make
of Kabeb's statements about Connor McGregor.

Speaker 1 (07:32):
Well, first, I want to address what you said earlier
about his impact. Kabib's impact because when most people retire,
they fade away into obscurity, and not many people have
had a career like could be a post fight career
like Habib has had, and he's still not with the UFC,
like I'm fortunate enough to still be in the UFC
to still have the platform.

Speaker 4 (07:51):
Most people fade into obscurity.

Speaker 1 (07:53):
No one has been able to leverage their their notoriety
like Kabib has had. So when he speaks, I even listen.
I mean, he is the absolute man in terms of this. Now,
what he's said about Connor McGregor is real shit. I
love what he's saying because he understands the impact that
Connor has.

Speaker 4 (08:09):
He understands that.

Speaker 1 (08:11):
Connor still has a platform that people listen, and he
wants Connor to do better, not only for Connor, but
for all the people that Connor speak to. So give
I give Habib a lot of credit for burying the
hatchet in a way to say, hey, listen, get your
life right, man, because you still have a platform speak
to your people.

Speaker 2 (08:29):
Is there is there a point in your life?

Speaker 3 (08:30):
Because he also spoke abou Muhammad Ali, right, We all
know that Kabib is a proud Muslim, and Muhammad Ali
was also, and Muhammad Ali impacted people positively in so
many ways, not only Americans, but people around the world,
not only Muslims, but just people could be made it
a point to say this guy could have some sort

(08:50):
of impact in that way. Mayweather also he spoke about Mayweather,
he spoke about Connor. How about how those guys could
have more of an impact on.

Speaker 2 (08:58):
People in the world. When you see that, knowing the
bad blood that those guys have din.

Speaker 3 (09:04):
Know, how in the world can we not sit back
and say for him to even let aside the rivalry
for that moment is hard. He would not even speak
his name, so you know he does not like Connor McGregor,
but still to want to get the message out that
life is better and life is more important than what
we do and we have to take the platform to elevate.

Speaker 2 (09:22):
That's massive, that's massive. But he also did this.

Speaker 3 (09:27):
He also said to everyone his thumb's fighting against Jack
Della at Madison Square Garden. Ali was shaking, like, oh please,
I don't have a deal with the UFC. If you do,
I'm gonna announce this myself.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
What do you make of that? That's crazy. He does
have a freedom to kind of just do whatever he wants.

Speaker 4 (09:46):
And that's crazy too because no one else can do that.

Speaker 1 (09:49):
Like if you are attached to the UFC under the
payroll in some sort.

Speaker 4 (09:53):
You can't just announce fights this way, like that is.

Speaker 2 (09:56):
The biggest announcer of ice.

Speaker 1 (09:57):
Yeah, that is like the biggest No. No to the UFC.
Don't announce fights. But Habib has such star power that he.

Speaker 4 (10:05):
Can get away with this, and and it comes from
a credible source. I ain't dogging your man, Chail. I
love Chail, But if Chaal told me that fight was happening,
I wouldn't believe it.

Speaker 3 (10:14):
But the fact that now is John Jones, Tom Aspunaut,
he announced John Jones, Tom Athvenault, and that he.

Speaker 2 (10:19):
Said they had a date for that.

Speaker 4 (10:21):
He did, he did. But the fact that Habib announced it, man,
I ride with that.

Speaker 2 (10:27):
No, it was great, it was great.

Speaker 3 (10:29):
I think that for me, the bigger thing that spoke
to me was the fact that he was essentially ready
to look past the bad to give a critique on how.

Speaker 2 (10:40):
You can improve. But you're even seeing the quote.

Speaker 3 (10:42):
Why am I talking about this because I don't know
that he believes that comic Gregor is gonna change.

Speaker 4 (10:47):
I don't think he believes he's gonna change. I don't
think anybody does.

Speaker 3 (10:50):
Yeah, No, I think it's all it's all uh. At
this point, it's all uh. I don't know, man, it's
just news. And honestly, you know, it's just him trying
to stand in news whenever we do stuff about him,
and it just doesn't hit anymore. That's why we're talking
about Kabeb, a guy who is trying to tell him, Man,
get right, because you still have so many that you can.

Speaker 2 (11:12):
Impact from experience.

Speaker 3 (11:20):
Round three D So Dan, there's a UFC lawsuit that
got settled.

Speaker 2 (11:26):
For millions and millions of dollars.

Speaker 3 (11:28):
So many fighters from a certain time in the UFC,
I think it was eleven to seventeen had the opportunity
to get Hey. You know, they say reparations, Hey, you
get your reparations, and like them, black people be saying
that my reparation. One person that said he's not doing
this and not to moy connell and Matt Brown was

(11:50):
very hard on him. Matt Brown said that he's a
moron for not taking the money.

Speaker 2 (11:55):
As I look it up, and Brendan Schab was very
hard on him. What are you make of that?

Speaker 4 (12:02):
I think he's crazy for not taking the money.

Speaker 1 (12:04):
But from what I understand is that the money that's
left over from people who didn't take it gets kind
of repurposed and back and spread back out to the
other fighters. So if that's the case, hey man, listen,
more power to the other fighters that more Connor didn't
take the money. Me personally, I don't give a shit
about any of that because I ain't getting no check

(12:24):
and I was fighting in the UFC before all these dudes,
and I ain't get no check.

Speaker 3 (12:29):
So Matt Brown said, I question whether it's not a
true I think more Connor may be saying that in public,
but I don't know if that's truly the case. He said,
there's very few people that haven't signed up to get
their money. I doubt that he's want of them. To
be honest, it doesn't make him look better saying that.
I don't think anybody's like, wow, bro, you're being brand

(12:50):
loyal good for you know. Everybody's saying you're an expetive
idiot for this. Brendan Shab also said that the UFC
would not look at him and go, oh my goodness,
this dude is so cool. He's not taking the money.
Listen what Conoden said. Hunter called me and told me

(13:12):
to take the f and money. But I told him,
it's not about you, brother. I don't care what you are.
Dana White think I care about what I believe in.
I don't hate the UFC. I just believe in doing
the right thing. That's why I said no as a
person that is in that thing. And I was like
at the very end because I didn't really pay attention

(13:34):
to the money as much as I probably should, right
because I was fighting at that time. They called me
and told me to DC take the money, go get
the money. The money's getting paid out regardless, the money
is going to be paid out, so they rather it
go to the fighters. Otherwise it goes either to the

(13:56):
rest of the fighters or into the attorneys attorneys. The
more money available, the attorneys will get more money, I believe,
so yeah, they'll see it.

Speaker 2 (14:05):
To take the money.

Speaker 3 (14:06):
Here's why I'm not as hard on moy Kano as
many he said. I signed a deal back then knowing.

Speaker 2 (14:17):
What I was getting.

Speaker 3 (14:19):
That should not change because of timing or the amount
of money the company made. That's the only thing I
agree with him on. I don't agree with him saying no,
I'm not gonna take this money. Two hundred grant in
Florida buy a new house. Hell yeah with that money.
Hell yeah.

Speaker 1 (14:38):
Now he's right about that, And that's one thing that
a lot of people forget. And it's kind of unfair
to the UFC that all these guys can cherry pick
on the success of the UFC because of that, because
all these other organizations they was fighting just as hard,
and the other organizations they ain't do shit, but you
can't go back and sue them because they not as
successful as the UFC. So moy Kano is right about that.

(15:00):
The fact that when you signed that deal, you was
probably really fucking happy with that deal and broke and
and you were right. You would have signed that deal
for nothing. You were broke back then, absolutely absolutely, So
I agree with him on that, but still were kind
of take the money, man, you do you do deserve it.

Speaker 3 (15:20):
If if Hunter Campbell's calling him and saying, hey, take
the money, dude, do it, or Dana's calling him saying
take the money, dude, there's no like, there's not gonna
be any bad blood for it, dude.

Speaker 2 (15:35):
I gotta be honest.

Speaker 3 (15:35):
When the GFL was doing all that and Dana was like,
did they call you? I was like, Naan they didn't
call me. He was like, I would have told you
take the money if they called you. D always like YO,
get your money. He always says that. He was like,
I would have told you to take the money if
they called you through up to jail and I for sure.

Speaker 1 (15:53):
I mean, at the end of the day, man under
the UFC understands it's all business like they trying to
make money. They want you to make money, and that's
just the way it is. Moy Kanno is a bit
crazy for not taking the money, but he stands on
his morals and I got respect for him for that
no matter.

Speaker 3 (16:08):
What espresily when he's a smart guy financially, he's not
a dumb guy. He takes post guy fight press conferences,
and he talks about crypto, and he talks about bitcoin,
and he talks about investments. This dude is not stupid.
So I don't know that he's doing this from a
a a not smart position.

Speaker 2 (16:27):
I think he's doing this.

Speaker 3 (16:28):
Because I think he truly believes that this is what
he should do. And I imagine at this point in
his life in his career, he's doing relatively well. I
would just tell him that when it stops unless your
podcast becomes unbelievable, you'll look back and go, man, I
could have probably used two hundred thousand extra dollars.

Speaker 2 (16:51):
You know, it's the summer, and as you know, summer

Speaker 3 (18:13):
And now from my final thought, Guys, A couple of
weeks ago, Hulk Hogan passed away, and I was watching
some of the reactions from people, and I was a
bit like surprised because I didn't know how separated people
were on Hulk Hogan. I had a group message with

(18:34):
a group of friends that were so sad that Hogan died.
I had a separate group message that spoke about how
his time had long been coming and it was far
too long that he was still here. That just tells
you how much and how careful you need to be
when you're talking to people and how open you need

(18:56):
to be in this world today. Because this Hulk Hogan
had done thirty years of charity work. Hook Hogan had
done thirty years of make a wish. He had done
a lot of great things. He of those guys heroes
as a child, but in one moment, or two moments

(19:17):
or three moments, he threw it all away. So now
this guy leaves this earth as a guy that cannot
be remembered by a certain segment of people as the Holkster,
the one that elicited such great and strong emotions out
of you as a child. He leaves at a guy
that that group of friends think was absolutely racist, while

(19:38):
the other group of friends still kind of feels this
is the whol Hogan that we knew from before, in
all sins are forgiven because he's no longer with us.
It's an insane thing to think that a man had
that much of an impact negatively and offensively at the
same exact time. So make sure you watch yourself and

(20:01):
don't be don't have ill intent in any situation. Hella's
daughter just said take him out of his will. That's
how much she too convince the things that her father
said way back in the day. It's unbelievable, Dino. It's
unbelievable how quickly things can change. D thank you again

(20:22):
for joining man. I appreciate you as always. I will
see you in Vegas this week at the UFC Fight Night.

Speaker 2 (20:28):
My brother, all right, my man.

Speaker 4 (20:29):
Appreciate you as always and that last speech was beautiful.

Speaker 2 (20:33):
Thank you, Dino, You're the man. Guys.
