Speaker 2 (00:21):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
Jordan Schultz, he'll be on Speak after us. We bring
him by every couple of weeks. Got so much information,
he's joining us in studio. So there's a lot to
unravel here. I've been saying before is there are certain
jobs that feel like big, big lifts where I don't
think scheme guy solves it. I thought last year Harball

(00:45):
was necessary with the Chargers you had, it was a
big lift that the morale, the culture need to be rebuilt.
The talent was actually pretty decent if you got a
couple of players. So let's talk about Ben Johnson. He's
going to have lots of interviews. Are there a couple
of teams that are in the lead on Ben?

Speaker 3 (01:01):
I look at Ben Johnson like the number one draft pick,
almost like when you get a franchise quarterback, Ben Johnson
is your bona fide head coach for the next decade plus.
That's how he's being viewed at. With all due respect
to Mike Rabel, who's also scorching hot. But Ben Johnson,
he is the guy right now and I think he
interviewed with the Patriots today. I reported he has four
interviews this weekend, including Jacksonville, Chicago and the Raiders. That

(01:24):
was the one that I think surprised some people. But
he is someone that is going to be selective, but
also has so much juice right now that he really
does have his pick of the litter. New England's really
interesting for a lot of reasons. I know, you talk
about stable ownership.

Speaker 4 (01:39):
They have that.

Speaker 3 (01:40):
They also have a quarterback and Drake May and that's
why someone like Rabel or Ben Johnson makes a lot
of sense because you can really build around him.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
Well and the Crafts have a reputation is a bit frugal.
You're not gonna have to pay Ben what you pay Rabel. Also,
Vrabel's gonna want perhaps you know his saying personnel. Yeah, Ben,
from what we can tell is about Colin plays. I
mean Ben would come in and just say, whoever your

(02:08):
GM is his fine I'll work with him. Is that possible?

Speaker 3 (02:11):
Yeah, I think there's been a lot of speculation. I've
been told that maybe Mike Rabel would want Ryan Cowden,
who he was with Tennessee. Sure, and Tennessee with who's
now basically an assistant jam with the Giants. I don't
know if Ben would have the same I have to
have this guy. But it is really important for Ben
or any other head coach to have a stable front office.
I've talked a lot about Jacksonville and how that job

(02:32):
on paper is appetizing because they have a lot of talent.
But Trent Balke being retained as the GM is not
a good thing.

Speaker 4 (02:39):
That's going to.

Speaker 3 (02:39):
Hurt their ability to hire a head coach unless his
role is reduced. So there's a lot of like inside
baseball parts of this. But the Patriots, to your point, Colin,
we've talked so much about Drake may that job. They
also have one hundred and twenty million dollars in cap.
That's the most, that's the most cap. There's just you
know you can win there, and all due respect to
a lot of these other owners, they're not going to

(03:00):
let you do the football thing enough. They're going to metal.
Robert Kraft, he might meddle some, but by and large
he will let the football people do what they need
to do.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
Let's talk. Let's talk about the Bear situation, because I
think this is a big lift. It's not the Raiders dysfunctional,
but the division's good. You got some cap space, but
there's an old ownership without a ton of money. Do
you soolve Caleb Williams or do you get In my opinion,
I would go culture changer. I look at them more

(03:31):
like the Jets that it's beyond just schemes.

Speaker 4 (03:35):
So you're thinking someone like a Pete Carroll.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
Or a Vrabel come in and rearrange the furniture and
kind of a proven winner.

Speaker 4 (03:44):
See I hear you on that.

Speaker 3 (03:46):
But I also want innovation because I just saw what
happened with Shane Waldron and Matt Eberfluss and the steps
that Caleb Williams didn't necessarily take compared to a Jadeen
Daniels or a Drake may or even Michael Pennix at
the end of the year. So if I'm Chicago, yes,
I want a culture guy, but I need innovation. I
need creativity, and I would even point to Caleb Williams.

(04:06):
He broke the all time streak three hundred and twenty
six passes without an interception.

Speaker 4 (04:10):
No rookie has ever done that. But I thought he
was too safe.

Speaker 3 (04:14):
I want Caleb Williams to be running around making plays.
I want swash Buckley number one overall pick. Ben Johnson
can do that. Cliff Kingsbury, maybe a Liam Cohen from Tampa.
We saw how well he's done this year with Baker Mayfield.
So I hear what you're saying about culture to a degree, yes,
But at the same time, you've already built your entire
franchiser on Caleb with all the wide receivers, all the

(04:36):
weapons you built. You need an offensive line, but you
really need innovation at that position.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
So Ryan Fitzpatrick came out this week and was pretty
critical of Brian Flores. He said, by the end, dictator,
a little bit of a dictator for the record, that
has been the criticism of Matt Patricia, Joe Judge. They
come from that New England sort of school of Belichickian coaching,
and they're a little bit my way the highway. Has

(05:01):
that hurt Flores? The Fitzpatrick comments.

Speaker 3 (05:04):
No, and I would Ryan Fitzpatrick has a very unique
perspective because of the position he played, the organizations he's
been in. What if anything hurt Flores, it's the fact
that he's been suing the league, if anything, the fact
that Brian Flores this year though put together the defense
he has. I think their third and EPA first in takeaways,
top five, really across the board. This wasn't a defense

(05:27):
callin at least for me, and I think most people
thought would be in that position this season, let alone
with fourteen wins. So Brian Flores is viewed as an
elite defensive mind. And I asked someone close to him,
what do you think Brian learned from Miami and he said, basically,
Brian learned had a delegate. And this has been the
criticism of a lot of first time head coaches. I
think Raheem Morris was another one when he was in Tampa.

(05:49):
You have to understand that being a head coach in
many ways is like being a CEO. You're not going
to be able to be with every position group and
as a DC, you can focus on the defensive guys.
Maybe you spent a couple of days just with the corners.
As a head coach, much different perspective. So I think
Brian's learned and as a result, he does have a
lot of interest and the Jets is one of them,
and he's he's already said, I'm going to listen to

(06:10):
every team that's interested in me. And I did not
anticipate full transparency calling that he would be in this
position a year ago.

Speaker 1 (06:18):
So there's there's dysfunction and impatience, and then there's the Raiders. Yes,
I talked to Tom Telesco yesterday. He was caught off guard.
I would have retained Antonio Pierce. They beat the Chiefs
that arrowhead last year and should have beaten them this year,
considering his quarterback situation. I thought they played their butts off.

(06:38):
Tom Telesco told me yesterday he thought as a leader
and as a motivator, he loved Antonio Pierce and he
thought everything else was going to develop over time. I mean,
they have Max Crosby and Brock Bauers and a good
left tackle. Is it a caution tape has Matt spill
situation where like the best candidates are like off.

Speaker 4 (07:00):
So it reminds me I was just talking to Jmac
about the Jets.

Speaker 3 (07:05):
It reminds me a little bit with the Jets, where
you think would a top tier candidate really want to
go there? But then you really there's only thirty something
jobs of these in the entire world. So if you're
a head coach candidate, if you're a GM, most guys,
maybe other than a Ben Johnson or Mike Vrabel, are
not in the position to be turning down jobs. And
to your point about Antonio Pierce, I think they start

(07:25):
one and seven, they lose Aidan O'Connell, who ends up
playing pretty well down the stretch. You see all these
vacancies the Raiders, like, that's a historic franchise. They have
an elite stadium, it's a city built on entertainment, no
state tax, no.

Speaker 4 (07:38):
State tax, which is big, and.

Speaker 1 (07:40):
It is big. And also it's a you know, like
people like to go to Vegas.

Speaker 2 (07:46):
They do.

Speaker 1 (07:47):
You can recruit a staff in Vegas.

Speaker 4 (07:49):
Yeah, they do.

Speaker 3 (07:49):
And I to your point of al Piers too, I
thought guys played hard for him.

Speaker 4 (07:53):
I asked a few players in.

Speaker 3 (07:54):
That locker room their views of Piers had they changed,
and they thought Piers started to materialize more as is
he and went on he was able to hold guys
accountable more as he got his footing. I was a
little bit surprised that both te LESCo and Pierce lost.

Speaker 4 (08:08):
Their job, especially back to back like that.

Speaker 3 (08:12):
I'll tell you this that the one name that I
just keep thinking about with the Raiders is maybe a
Deon Sanders if he were to make the job. I'm
not saying he would, but I'm Deon Sanders is the
type of personality, the type of presence that works with
the Raiders.

Speaker 4 (08:26):
And I know he's at Colorado. I know what we've
seen Michael Irvin.

Speaker 3 (08:29):
Say about the Cowboys, but it feels like Mike McCarthy's
going to be retained.

Speaker 4 (08:33):
But I someone like that, a splash higher.

Speaker 3 (08:36):
It doesn't have to be Deon, but a big personality,
someone that Mark Davis can relate to.

Speaker 4 (08:41):
That's the type of coach the Raiders would would need.
You know.

Speaker 1 (08:43):
It's interesting. If Baltimore lost, I think we'd say, you know,
Lamar Jackson's to blame just because he hasn't had playoff success.
If Buffalo lost, well, Josh Allen's played well in the postseason.
McDermott would get heat.

Speaker 4 (08:58):
Absolutely.

Speaker 1 (08:58):
This sounds crazy, but the Eagles and Bills are twenty
seven and seven. If either lost in the first round.
I think those coaches are on the hot seat. That
sounds hyperbolic, but Josh Allen is the best offensive player
man more than Mahomes. Mahomes has the trophies, Allen has

(09:19):
the numbers the last five years. What if the Eagles
in Buffalo lose It sounds ridiculous to speculate. Yeah, but
Philadelphia has gotten rid of Super Bowl winning coaches.

Speaker 3 (09:31):
Yeah, that's a good point. Buffalo has a rookie quarterback.
They're a huge favor I think about a ten point favorite.
It feels to me like Sean McDermott has made a
lot of progress this year, and I know internally they agree.
They feel like he's matured as a leader.

Speaker 1 (09:44):
I totally agree.

Speaker 4 (09:46):
So I would look at Philly though.

Speaker 3 (09:47):
To answer that question, I think if Philly flames out,
it's been made clear to me. Let's say they lose
to green Bay, they don't have a good performance, they
lose at home. That Nick Sirianni's job would be one
to watch. I don't know if he would be five,
but considering last year's flame out in the first round
to Tampa, they get blown out this season, the type
of year they've had, especially down the stretch with Jalen

(10:08):
Hurts Saquon. I think Sirianni needs a good performance or
two in the playoffs to retain his job.

Speaker 4 (10:15):
Now.

Speaker 3 (10:16):
Philadelphia to me has the best offensive and defensive line
combo in football.

Speaker 4 (10:20):
But there is a lot of pressure there.

Speaker 3 (10:22):
And you talked about, you know, not keeping Super Bowl
or elite head coaches Andy Reed, Doug Peterson and so
Kelly won ten games, So there is a lot of pressure.
And I would argue that there's no more pressure on
any head coach right now in the playoffs and Nick Sirianni.

Speaker 1 (10:37):
Okay, we've got to talk about this. Some have suggested
I'm a fan of Sam Darnold. These are egregious claims
that I'm deeply offended. But there was MVP talk and
I thought it was worthwhile three weeks ago. And because
his reckless nature in the first six years, the minute
he struggles, that's where everybody's brain goes, well, that's too Sam.

(11:00):
Is if Sam struggles against the Rams, do they move
off him?

Speaker 4 (11:07):
What struggles? Twenty for thirty four two twenty.

Speaker 1 (11:10):
Yards picks, big ugly pick, second half, they lose the game.

Speaker 4 (11:14):
So essentially, what he did against Detroit.

Speaker 1 (11:15):
No, a better version of Detroit.

Speaker 3 (11:18):
But but I'm just trying to get calling to admit
that Sam Donald is not Joss Allen.

Speaker 1 (11:23):
No No, So Stafford out plays him, they lose, and
Sam has an ugly pick late.

Speaker 3 (11:28):
So I the longer the Vikings go, and the further
they go in the playoffs, the better Donald plays, the
better chance that he has retained right. So to your point,
if they lose against the Rams on the on the
backs of what happened against Detroit, I think there's a
much better chance that the Vikings move off of them.
There's also the opportunity to tag him. Now that the

(11:49):
quarterback tag is going to be right around forty million.
That's a massive number that really hurts your table. But
it is an option. So Minnesota is going to have
to make a lot of decisions in the offseason predicated
on the playoffs. J McCarthy Daniel Jones are there?

Speaker 1 (12:01):
Can I ask you about the Daniel Jones acquisition? It
seemed odd Generally you don't pick up a quarterback in November.
What did it mean?

Speaker 3 (12:10):
Well, it meant that a Kevin O'Connell and Daniel Jones
had a great relationship going back to the draft. They
were very close. They maintained that relationship. Second of all,
it cost them virtually nothing. I mean absolutely nothing. The
Giants are paying that salary. And then third, JJ McCarthy
with the meniscus surgery, was not able to play even
in the playoffs.

Speaker 4 (12:28):
So they knew they needed better than Nick Mullens.

Speaker 3 (12:30):
They knew they needed someone just in case Sam went down.

Speaker 4 (12:34):
And so it is Daniel so and Daniel and Sam
are are friendly.

Speaker 1 (12:37):
So there.

Speaker 3 (12:38):
I didn't put a lot into that, but I did
look at, hey, bring If we bring in Daniel Jones
and he looks good for us even in practice, maybe
we can retain him next year and give him an
opportunity like we did with Sam, to reinvigorate his career.
I'll tell you this, I don't expect Sam Darnold to
have the same type of performance he had against Detroit.
That was like a playoff game. You watched that game,

(13:00):
Aaron Glenn had that thing buzz.

Speaker 1 (13:01):
Well, they're playing it in a neutral field this.

Speaker 3 (13:02):
Week, they're playing in Arizona, and the Rams defense, although good,
I don't think it's going to be able to get
after Sam the way Detroit did. So this is a
big game for Minnesota and a lot of reasons, but yeah,
perhaps none bigger than Sam who in many ways is
not only playing for a team, but also his his
salary the next few years.

Speaker 1 (13:18):
Finally, the Steelers don't let much out Russell Wilson. A
month ago, we thought he's getting an extension. It's been
a bad month. Yes, where are we with Russ and
the Steelers?

Speaker 3 (13:30):
I was surprised against even Baltimore last week that they
didn't Mayor two weeks ago they didn't make the move
to Justin Fields. I thought, at least in a game
like that, give us another look. Maybe they're hiding something.
They're gonna do it in the playoffs. How much leaks
out of that, No, there's not. It's a very contained organization.
Russell Wilson, we sat here a month ago and I
told you, if he continues to play this well and

(13:51):
Pittsburgh makes a run, that he could absolutely be retained
to a Baker Mayfield type three years, one hundred million
dollars deal. Pittsburgh's defense has been the same the last month.
I don't know what happened. He needs to find that chemistry,
that synergy with George Pickens, that he had right six
weeks ago, because that was really special.

Speaker 1 (14:10):
So I don't buy.

Speaker 3 (14:12):
That Pittsburgh's need to get blown out by Baltimore. I
think you'll see a better Russ. But like Sam Darnold Russell,
Wilson is playing for his future, not only money financially,
but his team. And then, can I just say one
more thing about the coaches? Yeah, you know, we talked
a lot about Ben Johnson. Aaron Glenn's is also viewed
in really high regard. And I think overall, the job

(14:33):
that the job that Detroit Lions have done with Dan Campbell,
really building an elite staff says a lot and a
lot of teams are looking at that saying, how do
we replicate that? How do we replicate bringing in not
only a great head coach, but building a staff like
he has, like Minnesota has with Kevin O'Connell. It's very
hard to do, but that's what these teams are talking about.

Speaker 1 (14:54):
Jordan Schult has always great.

Speaker 4 (14:55):
SENI you my man, thank you?

Speaker 1 (14:56):
All right, He'll be on speak after us and after
first things first.

Speaker 2 (15:00):
One more Heard. The Herd streams twenty four hours a day,
seven days a week within the iHeartRadio app search Herd
to listen live or on demand whenever you like.

Speaker 1 (15:09):
J Mack with a news Turn on the news.

Speaker 2 (15:13):
This is the Herd Line News, all.

Speaker 5 (15:17):
Right, Colin, let's get started with Pooka Nakua.

Speaker 4 (15:19):
I don't remember.

Speaker 6 (15:20):
He got hurt in week one, missed a lot of
time and came back just in time for that Vikings game,
and boy did he go off. Second year receiver carved
up Minnesota seven catches for one hundred and six yards.
Defensive coordinator Brian Flores says, that's not happening again.

Speaker 7 (15:36):
Quite honestly, we were we were a little bit surprised
that he was out there, or that he was that
he was brought up. And you know, it was a
night game on a Thursday, so we found out, you know,
let's call it, four hours before the game. We had
seen a little bit of him from the previous year,
but you know, not much you know this year, So
it was a little bit of a scrambling. We know
he's going to be out there now this time out,

(16:00):
you know, we'll do a better job or I'll do
a better job of making sure our guys are prepared.

Speaker 1 (16:04):
From that standpoint, I mean, he this offense has become
very Kien Williams and Pooka dependent Cooper. Now Cup is
much less of a volume target, so it's uh and
Kien Williams and Pooka nekor great. They do have higgsby
the tight end back a couple of weeks ago, so
they're fully healthy. But you know, inside the Ram building

(16:25):
they will tell you they need to get more explosive
beyond Pooka. Yeah, you talked me into this game.

Speaker 6 (16:31):
And also I feel a little bad because some of
my Vikings fans are pushing that now.

Speaker 1 (16:35):
Well, Greg Cosel yesterday I said something very interesting is
that the Vikings O line is not an elite unit
and the Rams defront because they're so young. If you've
watched the Rams defense, it has gotten noticeably better in
the last like six weeks. I mean, they're twenty three
year old guys. Verse is unblockables. It's just that defense

(17:01):
for the Ram. You know, young players can improve over
the course of a season. Rams defense is it feels
like a top five or six defense in the league.

Speaker 6 (17:09):
Now. One of the things the Vikings fans are saying is, hey,
wait that loss to the Rams. That was Thursday night
and we didn't know Puka was coming back because the
Rams kind of kept it.

Speaker 5 (17:18):
Under wraps and sprung it on him and they weren't ready.
I was like, God, I don't know. I still like
the Rams now.

Speaker 6 (17:23):
I should note our friends at COSM here in La
are hosting a watch party for the game. The games
then moved to State Farm in Arizona. All ticket proceeds
will go to the fire related charities. Oh so we're
supporting relief efforts.

Speaker 1 (17:36):
At It's in La. Dallas two has won, by the way,
I mean into that one. That's great.

Speaker 6 (17:41):
A next story, Colin is the Chargers made the playoffs
under first year a head coach Jim Harbaugh. The vibes
are good. Khalil Mack has seen a lot of teams
in his career, but.

Speaker 1 (17:50):
He's had a good year.

Speaker 5 (17:51):
Yeah, yes, you're right, he.

Speaker 6 (17:52):
Says, this has been a great season, adding we got
the right group of people together.

Speaker 5 (17:57):
What are we gonna do?

Speaker 6 (17:59):
We ain't got no time waste, especially me Chargers going
into Houston.

Speaker 1 (18:04):
This was my stay away game.

Speaker 6 (18:06):
Why is that?

Speaker 1 (18:07):
Well, I just anybody that's followed the Chargers gets a
little anxious when they go on the roads in the playoffs.
I mean I've seen them outplay teams one hundred times
in my lifetime and lose. So I think they have
the better coach. I think they have the better quarterback.
I think they have the better defense. But strange things
happen on the road in the playoffs. Ye listen, it's

(18:30):
a weird place. Houston has had moments this year when you're.

Speaker 6 (18:33):
Like, WHOA, I just can't get that Christmas game out
of my head.

Speaker 5 (18:36):
You have a thirty one to two. They couldn't do anything.

Speaker 1 (18:39):
But I watched the Chargers get annihilated at home by Tampa.
So that game that was a real pause buck, kind
of wacky.

Speaker 6 (18:47):
Yeah, I'm doing this one in the picks here shortly,
so I don't want to give away all my stuff,
but I think we're going to see this line come
toward the Texans here in the next next twenty four hours.

Speaker 1 (18:56):
A nything up to kick off.

Speaker 5 (18:58):
I'm with you.

Speaker 6 (18:59):
I'm going Chargers, but I think the money's gonna come
in on Houston.

Speaker 5 (19:02):
I'll break it down for you next.

Speaker 6 (19:03):
But final story, Colin is last night's game Penn State
Notre Dame was tremendous. One guy stood out number eleven there.
Oh my gosh, Duel Carter was everywhere. Well. He announced
after the Orange Bowl he's headed to the NFL Draft.
He was a unanimous All American Big Ten Defensive Player
of the Year, got his.

Speaker 5 (19:21):
Twelve sack last night. I had Carter ninth in my
mock draft.

Speaker 1 (19:25):
Oh, I think he's I think he's an argument he's
the second or third best player.

Speaker 6 (19:28):
Producer came out and was like, he's not lasting that long.
I was like, I agree, I mean, he was not
one hundred percent last.

Speaker 5 (19:33):
Night living in the back seat.

Speaker 1 (19:34):
You know who the two players that are rising up
the board. He's won and the receiver from Arizona.

Speaker 5 (19:40):
They are show Shoot Team ac Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (19:42):
Team Act. The receiver in Arizona shooting up the board.
Had a scouting director tell me best player in the draft,
best overall, best overall player in the draft.

Speaker 6 (19:52):
He's probably gonna crush the combine. He might be a
fourth n Yeah, he's a burner.

Speaker 1 (19:58):
Yeah. Jedfish recruited in Mount Washington in Arizona, So i'm
he is. He and Carter at Penn State are flying
up the board.

Speaker 6 (20:05):
And just so people know, Calherd is not joking around
when he's talking about recruiting. Last night, you were all
in on talking about recruits. No I ran for portal,
No no, no, digg indep Honestly, he's.

Speaker 1 (20:17):
All in it bores you know. I don't talk about
what I want to talk about in the show. I'd
spend five four hours, five hours I would go past.
I tell Nick right, I'm gonna keep talking recruiting. Take
the day off. Yeah, I'm a nerd.

Speaker 5 (20:29):
That's your thing, you know about like second.

Speaker 6 (20:33):
Four star linebackers who could be back up on the
depth chart, Like that's what you're talking about.

Speaker 5 (20:37):
He loses me in that stuff. But I'm trying J
Mack with a news.

Speaker 2 (20:42):
Well that's the news, and thanks for stopping by the
herd line.

Speaker 1 (20:46):
Now, by the way, the last two years c J.
Stroud at home J Mack eleven and five and a
passer rating of one oh two thirty touchdowns ten picks.
So CJ. Stroud's a young quarterback the road, little yellow tape,
little struggle there, So Home spends it.

Speaker 6 (21:07):
Whoever fed you that tell them to strip out the
games without take Dell and Stefan Diggs and show me
what you got because it's Nico Collins again.

Speaker 1 (21:14):
Well, I wasn't fed to me, it was in my brain.
I do not need many notes j Max picks.

Speaker 2 (21:25):

Speaker 8 (21:49):
We have a lot of fun talking about the stories
behind the stories in the world of sports and pop culture,
stories that well other shows don't seem to have the
time to discuss.

Speaker 9 (21:57):
And the fact that we've been friends for the last
twenty years and work together. I mean that says something right.
So check us out.

Speaker 8 (22:03):
We like to get you involved, to take your phone calls,
chop it up.

Speaker 1 (22:07):
As they say, I'd.

Speaker 9 (22:08):
Say, the most interactive show on Fox Sports Radio, maybe
the most interactive show on planetar.

Speaker 8 (22:12):
Be sure to check out Cavino and Rich live on
Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app from five to
seven PM Eastern two to four Pacific, and if you
miss any of the live show, just search Kobe non

social media that's Covino and Rich.

Speaker 6 (22:28):
Don't miss your chance to win free cast prizes playing
Fox Superstix six sponsored by Draft Kings. Go to the
Fox Sports app to make your picks. One of the
questions is which quarterback will have the most passing yards
this weekend? Colin Baker versus the Commanders, Sammy d versus
the Rams, Stafford versus the Vikings, or Jordan Love versus

(22:49):
the Eagles on Fox.

Speaker 1 (22:50):
I think Baker Mayfield will have his way with the Commanders,
who will load the box and try to stop that
daunting Bucks run game, and Baker will be thrown on
play action and spinning it and throwing for some yards. Okay,
it is time the hit maker. Jay Mack has had
quite a year picking games. Now we get into the
heavy lifting, the serious stuff, how you're really perceived by

(23:12):
the market. Tomorrow's headlines today playoff Jaymack, Bucks and Longhorns.
Ten night, It's the Big ten, It's the sec winner
goes to the National Championship. What do you got Yeah.

Speaker 6 (23:28):
I had some trepidation for this game because Colin, you
talk around to anybody, everybody's picking Ohio State.

Speaker 5 (23:34):
Have you heard one person pick Texas.

Speaker 1 (23:35):
No.

Speaker 5 (23:36):
The headline will by Jerry's World.

Speaker 6 (23:39):
Jeremiah's will takes over Texas Jeremiah Smith.

Speaker 5 (23:43):
I don't know how you stop him.

Speaker 6 (23:45):
Now, Texas has two guys that are all Americans in
the second area. Yeah, do you double up on Jeremiah Smith? Yes,
because at that point you just hand the ball off
the trad Henderson and the other running back Jenkins, and
they'll go bonkers. I mean, Henderson averaged eleven yards of
carry against Oregon. He ever, it's eight yard to carry
against Tennessee. It's like, geez, how do you stop this team?

Speaker 5 (24:03):
Colin? I know this sounds very California e.

Speaker 6 (24:06):
But sometimes like things happen for a reason, and I
think that loss that Ohio State had to Michigan had
to happen to this team. They looked nothing in these
last two games like they did against Michigan.

Speaker 5 (24:17):
They're airing it out early.

Speaker 6 (24:18):
You got to respect the guys deep, and then after
that it softens up the defense for the run game.

Speaker 5 (24:23):
I don't know how Texas stops Ohio State.

Speaker 6 (24:25):
I will say I do like Sark in an underdog
role all week.

Speaker 5 (24:29):
Hey, nobody's picking us. We're underdogs.

Speaker 6 (24:32):
We only lost a one team all season, that's Georgia.
Nobody's respecting us, and that's an easy motivational employ This
could feels like a shootout, you know, it could be
like last team with the ball wins.

Speaker 5 (24:42):
But I'm on Ohio State minus five and a half.
Mine of six.

Speaker 1 (24:45):
Tomorrow's headlines today this was my stay away game Texans.
C J Stroud's good at home headline for the Chargers
and Texans tomorrow. I'm already nervous.

Speaker 6 (24:56):
I'll preface this. I took a bath last year in
the Wild Round.

Speaker 5 (25:00):
It was a rough one for me.

Speaker 6 (25:01):
Felt confident and I like a lot of teams, including
the Chargers.

Speaker 5 (25:05):
The headline will hey pinn the tail on.

Speaker 6 (25:08):
The Mconkee Texans get spun around.

Speaker 5 (25:11):
Yes, I'm going for the Chargers at minus two and
a half. A fun stat of trend. I don't bet trends,
but it's interesting.

Speaker 6 (25:17):
Jim Harbaugh this season on a short week, three and
oh straight up, three and oh against the spread. One
of the best coaches in the league getting ready for action.
I don't like Josh Palmer out for the Chargers or
number two receiver. Don't like So McConkie's gonna see a
lot of Stingley, gonna see a lot of Lassner. And
by the way, there's a good quote out there from mcconkeye. Hey,
who is the toughest receiver you faced in your college

(25:38):
football career?

Speaker 5 (25:39):
He said, Oh, that's easy. The guy on my team Lassener.

Speaker 6 (25:41):
Now he's got to go against Lassner, who's with the
Texans having a good year. The real concern for the
Charger You want to dig deep here, third straight road game,
end of the season, with two games on the road.
They had the early buy I think first week in October,
so there's a long stretch with no time off. They
played their guys last week. I do wonder if they down.
If you're looking feeling exotic, looking for a prop, Will

(26:03):
Disley tight end?

Speaker 5 (26:04):
I like a lot And if you look at the numbers, Houston.

Speaker 6 (26:07):
Struggles defending tight ends. Go back to that Christmas Day game.
Who's Lamar targeting Mark Andrews Isaiah likely? I think there's
something for Disley. So I'm going Chargers minus two and.

Speaker 1 (26:16):
A half tomorrow's headlines. Today, I think Pittsburgh keeps it close.
J Mack, I don't know. You're very much on the
raven train.

Speaker 5 (26:27):
What's not to love?

Speaker 6 (26:28):
Last four games are annihilating everybody four to zero against
the spread. The headline will be Stole Curtains, Ravens Drayton
Steelers offense.

Speaker 5 (26:38):
I don't know how Pittsburgh's offense gets right.

Speaker 4 (26:40):
Colin.

Speaker 5 (26:41):
The Baltimore defense, we talked about it.

Speaker 6 (26:42):
I think it was week fifteen or sixteen when Kyle
Hamilton shifted to more of the roamer in the back
end as opposed to in the box. This defense has
been lights out. They have been bottling up everybody. That
Texans game. Not to reference it for like a sixth time,
but that really opened some eyes. They shut down Houston
at home, and I'm just telling you his defense is nasty.

Speaker 5 (27:01):
Now, when this was at minus ten, you're feeling great.

Speaker 6 (27:03):
Ten point favorites, seventeen and one straight up in the playoffs.

Speaker 5 (27:07):
But it's now come down a little bit. Zave Flowers
has been ruled out.

Speaker 1 (27:10):
Yeah, I think that's big.

Speaker 6 (27:11):
It is big because if you blitz Lamar, who's he
gonna trust?

Speaker 5 (27:15):
Who's his go to receiver.

Speaker 1 (27:16):
About Bateman, he had fifteen catches.

Speaker 6 (27:18):
I just worry a little bit about that. So you're
paying a little price if you want Baltimore here. This
was minus seven when they met, like what four weeks ago,
and now it's out at nine and a half ten
without Zay Flowers and the Steelers have quarterback he left
early in that game.

Speaker 5 (27:33):
Yeah, he's a good corner. So I listen.

Speaker 6 (27:36):
There's a lot of Lamar MVP stuff because he was
named All Pro quarterback over Josh Allen.

Speaker 5 (27:42):
There's some pressure on Lamar this weekend, Colin, Oh yeah,
I mean every weekend he's moots up in the playoffs.
You better win. And I like the Ravens here, but yeah.

Speaker 1 (27:50):
All nervous. Tomorrow's headlines will Senderella make it a ball
in Buffalo headline Broncos at the Bills.

Speaker 5 (27:57):
Well we have to talk about your favorite guy, Bo Nicks.

Speaker 6 (28:00):
You know there's a tough spot for them going into Buffalo,
big big underdogs.

Speaker 5 (28:04):
The headline will be next to my order.

Speaker 6 (28:08):
Buffalo sauce overwhelms Denver Omelet give me Josh Allen and Buffalo.
I like the Bills a lot here. I've been waiting
for this game all season. I wish it was a
night game. Then you really lay the lumber. But I
don't see Denver stopping Buffalo. This offense is just it's
built to dominate everyone. Denver plays one of the highest

(28:29):
rates of man coverage. You know what that means, Patrick
Shirtan's turning his back to defend people. That opens things
up for Josh Allen. I did already bet his prop
rushing yards. It's forty two and a half, which is
like ten yards higher than the regular season. The market
knows he's gonna run, and we talk about this late
in the season the big games. Josh Allen ain't risk it,
no risk it, no biscuit. Remember that he's now just

(28:50):
running the football and he's a machine.

Speaker 5 (28:51):
So I'm on Buffalo here. I think they get the
coin toss.

Speaker 6 (28:55):
We want the ball first, Josh Allen right down the field,
and from there Buffalo owns the game.

Speaker 5 (29:02):
I don't know what to make a bon nix.

Speaker 6 (29:03):
I'm not gonna bore you with the numbers about first
time quarterbacks against quarterbacks have been in the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (29:07):
Well, yeah, it's bad, it's really I'm going against this weekend.
I'm going against Bonnicks, who I love, and Jad and Daniels,
who I love. Yeah, I'm just going against the rookie quarterback.

Speaker 6 (29:15):
I think the number Denver against playoff teams one in
seven this year. You strip out that Kansas City win
so that when they step up against the elites doesn't
go well.

Speaker 5 (29:23):
So it could be.

Speaker 1 (29:23):
Buffalo, Yeah, Minnesota and Denver when you step up in class,
they've struggled. Yeah, Tomorrow's headlines today. Finally, despite being in Arizona,
my guy Sam Darnold finds himself in deep waters Viking
Rams in a neutral field.

Speaker 6 (29:38):
We saved this one for last because honestly, this is
probably top five headline I've ever done in the years.

Speaker 5 (29:43):
With the headline will be Salmon Egger.

Speaker 4 (29:48):
Can't spell scramble without ram.

Speaker 5 (29:51):
I know that's your favorite phrase, Salmon hamit agger. So
we go with Sam Darnold. Listen, I like Sam. He's
had a great season, but we showed the numbers earlier.

Speaker 6 (29:58):
Okay, the games against the elites, the Detroit, he hasn't
been great. He wasn't great against the Rams. I think
mcveigh's confidence as just an awesome coach here is gonna
win out over flores who, by the way, is interviewing
for a lot of jobs and maybe a head coach soon.
I just I saw stat that the Vikings had more

(30:20):
snaps when leading this season than any team in the
NFL when.

Speaker 5 (30:23):
They get the When they get the lead, they're great.

Speaker 6 (30:25):
Brian floresa and that defense they blitz you. When they
fall behind, it's a different story. And that run defense
is soft. We saw Detroit. I think Gibbs had four touchdowns.
It's gonna be a big kyra in Williams game. I know, uh,
Minnesota likes to play cover two. Hey, we're not getting
beat deep Cooper Cup, Poka Nakua underneath and can I
just don't see the Vikings toop.

Speaker 1 (30:45):
What really turned it for me is the Vikings O
line against the Rams emerging D line and the Rams
finally healthy O line against an okay Vikings D line.
I think we talked Darnold and Stafford. I think the
Rams kind of control the clock. I think there'll be
some splash plays. I mean, justin Jefferson, the number one

(31:06):
need for the Rams in the draft is a corner.
They have, you know, twos threes, So Minnesota's gonna hit
on some big plays, Jordan Addison, Naylor, Justin Jefferson. They're
gonna hit on some big plays. But line play controls
the playoffs. It really, I mean the only time Mahomes
has been blown out in the playoffs. O line, no tackles,

(31:27):
crushed by Tampa. So it's like, that's why I like
Philadelphia and Detroit so much. Just dominant line. Like you
know Buffalo's line. We know Dawkins is great at left tackle.
Buffalo's O line this year run games emerged great in
the red zone. You can't get to Josh Allen, Buffalo.
What's interesting about Buffalo this year? It is really the

(31:48):
best version of Buffalo. We thought the Stefan Diggs would
take us to a new level, but they still weren't
consistent running it, and their old line was Okay, this
is a good Bills O line, this is a good
Bills run game. Now you had Kencaid James, Buffalo to
me really matches up with Detroit and Philly and Detroit.

Speaker 6 (32:07):
Sorry, Buffalo, Remember they kind of had a bye last week.
Josh Allen just played one series to get that streak going.
But you know, Denver had that game against kids. They
had to play their guys. They had to keep them in.
They had to win. I know it was a blowout,
but I just the Rams are coming off of bye.
By the way, Vikings had to play a hard game
on Sunday night football against the Lions. We also know
historically after you play the Lions, you're beat up, you're

(32:29):
worn down.

Speaker 1 (32:30):
Yeah, the old line is so physical. H Yeah, these
are one of these games. I like Minnesota. Initially I
thought it was bounced back, but this happens too. Every
week there's a game. Just some more homework you do,
the more you real I mean, like something to think
about this. For years and years, this was what the
Niners did. You The Lions beat you up because of
their O line. They wear on your D line, and

(32:51):
the following week after you play the Lions, you're not
the same defense. You don't play as well.

Speaker 6 (32:56):
Let me ask, is there any one upset that could
happen this weekend would totally shock you.

Speaker 1 (33:01):
Well, let's say there's a huge upset. I do think
Jaden Daniels is so great. If Jaden Daniels just just
started taking off and ran for one hundred and forty
yards and they beat Baker, I like the Bucks, but
I could see Baker can be reckless. Baker gets pressured,
makes a bad throw, picksakes, you're down, and Jaden Daniels

(33:22):
just does a Houdini.

Speaker 6 (33:23):
But like Pittsburgh, if they won, well they already beat
the Ravens. It's the divisional matchup. Would not totally shock
me at Pittsburgh one. If Buffalo somehow lost to Denver,
oh my rack would be my, oh my gosh, what
is it?

Speaker 1 (33:35):
What is I'm telling you right now? If Buffalo loses Belichick.

Speaker 6 (33:39):
Belichick to Buffalo, he he can't.

Speaker 5 (33:43):
He can't lose this game. I mean, he can't, you know.
And Josh Allen better not loses either.

Speaker 1 (33:49):
Yeah, man, all right, buck Eye's long horns tonight
