(01:28):
mit it. In Indiana, if you are someone you know
has a gambling problem and wants help, call one eight

gambling problem, call one eight hundred gambler. What's up? Guys? Hey,

(01:49):
welcome to a brand new episode at dct IF it
brought to you by Total Wireless, the official wireless provider
of UFC. They are in your corner when unlimited five
G data that will not slow you down. Well, something
is slowing down, guys. And it's one that we didn't
want to hear. It's one that everybody was excited about
because it's one that we have talked about for so long.

(02:11):
And that's Amanda new Desk. Kayla Harrison seems to be
off for UFC three twenty four. Kila Harrison reportedly had
a neck injury that will sideline her. MMA Junkie spoke
to her management team. They did not respond. Sorry they did.

(02:35):
They tried to reach out, but they said that back
in the day, Harrison Okay, So Harrison underwent surgery for
her and this in her back decision that was made
after meeting with doctor in New York last week. Harrison
is expected to be sidelined for at least six months,
according to Leo Walker guamares On X. UFC officials have

(02:58):
yet to confirm our on the injury, but the UFC
slash paramount Twitter reported that Harrison is now out and
will not defend their championship on January twenty fourth. They

(03:19):
said this was in the Eagle Tribune Northeast Massachusetts. She
had strong ties she lived there as she was making
her way to trying to become an Olympic champion. That's
a bummer. That's a real bummer that Kayla Harrison is out.
Because there is no bigger female fight in the world
than Amanda new Nes versus Kayla Harrison. We talked about

(03:42):
this when the fight was announced, because you have a
grappler in Harrison, a striker fighter in Amanda Newns, the history,
the draw, the enormity of the fight. Who Amanda Newns
has been to female fighting, to Kayla Harrison winning that
belt in that weight class and trying to replace her

(04:06):
and become as important as Amanda was to fighting for females.
But now it's not happening. So that leads to this
question what next. First off, I'm no doctor, guys, I'm
no doctor. I'm not gonna pretend to be. Six months
seems hopeful in terms of how long Harrison will be

(04:28):
out of fighting. Six months for a neck injury, especially
if there is surgery, is very hopeful. I can say
after back surgery, which was a disc I was never
the same. I was never able to train at the

(04:51):
level that I trained prior to said back surgery. So
for a neck and knowing guys in wrestling that I
have dealt with next six months if ever to being
who you were is a very wishful way of thinking.

(05:12):
But Kayla Harrison is the one percent of the one
percent in terms of athletes and mental toughness, preparation and
everything else. So if there's anyone that could make it
back from that type of injury to becoming the person
that there was prior, it's the great Kayla Harrison. So

(05:33):
hats off to the champion are hopefully good luck in
God's speed on a quick recovery for a woman who
has meant so much to all of combat sports and
to a woman that has a massive future in mixed
martial arts. At least it would seem that way, but

(05:54):
for me, it's about what's next, right Aman the Nowon
has walked away after winning in the fit her championship
in Canada a few years ago because she felt like
she was out of challengers. She felt like she had
done everything she could in mixed martial arts, so she
needed a break. She needed time away from fighting. She
had beaten Luisi give me the Gal's name, one thirty

(06:19):
five Mexican girl. She had beaten her in Canada in
a fight that was kind of boring because she dominated
so thoroughly and it was much easier than many anticipated.
I can't remember the girl's name. She got her face cut.
The fight wasn't as fun as people thought, and it
wasn't as challenging to Amanda as she thought that the

(06:41):
fight would be. So she said, you know what, I'm
done with this for a little bit. I'm gonna take
some time. I'm gonna be out of fighting for a
little bit, so she retired. Amanda Nuna has had no
idea that she would come back to fighting. But then
Kyl a sense to be coming. I'm putting in this

(07:02):
myself because Luis is taken forever. Kayla Harrison becomes the champion,
and she goes you know what, this is exciting? You
know many times this is Irena Aldonna, Irena al Donna. God,
how can I forget that? Kayla Harrison becoming the champion
gets exciting to the great Amanda new Nets Guys. Many

(07:25):
times though, many times we have seen these super elite
level athletes almost get bored with their divisions, with the
sport that they compete in, and they step away. We
saw it with John Jones when John Jones fought Anthony Smith,

(07:47):
when John Jones fought Thiago Santos, when John Jones fought
Dominic Rez, he spoke openly about being almost bored with
the options and the challenges, so he wasn't getting the
most of himself in those fights. When he came back,
he came back at heavyweight against Cyril Gon, something that
excited him, so he went and did it. That's what

(08:08):
we found with aman the new Nest. Once Kayla was
the champion, it excited her. It made her want to
come back and fight again. So she gets that super fight.
She's all set to go for the UFC's debut on Paramount.
She's ready to go and try to defend or regain

(08:29):
the championship from the fighter that came into her gym
that she ultimately left and built her own gym, who
became the champion in the weight class that she once
was the champion in and now she ruled. It was exciting.
I saw a picture of a man the New nes
and I'll have Luise put that picture up there. She
looked in phenomenal shape. She's training, she's ready, she's prepared.

(08:53):
Now that challenge is gone. Norma Dumont, who is riding
hot right now, has thrown her name in a head
and says I'll fight her. I'll do it. But does
that excite the former champion? Does that make her reconsider
what she felt all those years ago after Canada? Does

(09:19):
that make her go, you know what? This is enough?
The belt, obviously, guys, wasn't enough to keep her because
she walked away from him. So does an interim title
with the promise that Kayla Harrison will be back keep her?
Is that enough for a man the New Nests or
does she even get the option? When you get six months.

(09:40):
When you hear six months, you go, well, six months
ain't that long for a man the new nest when
she's been sitting out a couple of years now, point
back to what I said earlier, six months is wishful thinking.
If it's only six months, I would think to myself,
I'll wait, Amanda, can you wait until the summer to
fight Kayla Harrison? If it's longer, Amanda, can you do

(10:05):
an interim title fight? And can we justify doing an
interim title fight when Kayla Harrison just beat Juliana Pana
in the way that she did not so long ago.
If I'm Amanda Nunez and I have an idea that
I want to pursue this career again. Further, this is

(10:27):
not a one off, and I can't imagine it would
have been a one off because I don't know if
the UFC signs off on a one off, because when
she wins and it goes, I'm done with it again.
Now you have a vacant belt again, which went to
Raquel Pennington after the belt was vacated. If she is

(10:48):
going to do this as a career, she has to
stay on the fight card. She has got to go
and fight for the interim title. If they make it
an interim title fight. One, it helps the UFC because
a big name, but two, it also gets her back
in there because if this is a career that she
is going to pursue again full time as a competitor,

(11:10):
She's gotta do it. Chila and I have talked about
this ad nauseam. You don't get better at something by
not doing it. This now would not give her that
thing that drew her back, But what it would do
is it would get her inside of an octagon competing
and fighting. So then you would imagine the next time

(11:32):
she goes into the octagon, she would be better. It's
hard to go back in there with the best in
the world. Norman Dumont is one of the best in
the world. Kayla Harrison is the best in the world.
It's hard to go in there with one of the

(11:54):
best in the world, but it's much better than going
in with the absolute best. So now that this injury,
however unfortunately it is, has taken Kayla Harrison out of
the fight, you take advantage of the opportunity and you
go in there and you get your feet wet again
and you fight That's what I would have done. I

(12:15):
don't know what Amanda will do, and I don't even
know if Amanda's gonna have that as an option. I
don't know if she'll even have the option of whether
or not she wants to fight. But if she does,
I would say she should take it. Take it, go
out there and get your feet wet, go out there
and compete. But Cale is out, man, that sucks. But
I think this is a massive opportunity for the Lioness

(12:37):
to go out there and try to see if this
is something she still wants to do and if it's
just something that she can still do at that elite
level that she is used to competing at, which is
what she did before as a double champion. What do
you guys think Amanda will do? Do you think she fights?
Do you think she gets the option to fight? And
does it benefit her to fight once or she goes

(13:00):
in there with Kayla Harrison. A lot of questions surround
of the division. But guess what if you would have
asked me if all these questions are, if all this
are of this topic would be so valuable in MMA.
After what we saw when Raquel Pennington fought against the

(13:21):
other girl for the belt. I wouldn't have believed it.
Ryan Clark once said, get rid of the division after
that fight, But once again a great champion, Kayla Harrison,
the greatest of all time. Man, the newt is coming
back and now normal Dumont's in the conversation. The female
vandam wee division is back a topic and with those

(13:42):
characters and those names, of course it is. Guys, let
me know your thoughts and those comments until next time,
like subscribed and this twenty twenty six, baby, it's time
to get back to work at DCTV. Until next time, Peace,
