it right. The red card was atrocious to a player.
Everybody knew it, and then they used a VAAR review
system inappropriately. The VAAR is supposed to check the footage
in normal speed. Slow mo can be for off sides,
but in intensity arguments, intensity debates, you're not supposed.

So soccer has checks and balances, they have referees, then
they have VAR and then they have the FIFA Disciplinary Committee.
The great advantage America had is there are days in
between games, and we stood up and went objection your honor.

We weren't speeding, and then you try to confirm it
using a camera instead of a radar gun. So you
got the call wrong and the process wrong. Tradition and
precedence can't trump accuracy. I've been on this for years.

So the red card was an atrocious call. You got
that wrong, and then you inappropriately use the VAR system.
So the call was wrong and the process was wrong. Well,
this sets a dangerous precedent. No, it doesn't get stuff right.

What awful messaging to your players totally distracted. I mean,
America was on with it. We were on with it,
we were playing without Balligan. Not a lot of whining

at the messaging they're sending to their players tonight. So

I don't like it at all. I mean, if I
was Belgium's coach, my take is, well, we've been better
than America for fifty plus years in soccer. We're still better.
We don't care. Wouldn't that be the message? Belgium feels
like that college football program complaining about the ball they
got and then they show up for the ball and
get run out of the building by an inferior team.
The difference is we're not the inferior team anymore. So,

I just think it was a horrible call, inappropriately reviewed.
I'm reading it here as written by FIFA. The var
can check the footage in normal speed slow motion rebate
replays should only that's the word here, should only be
used for facts like position of an offensive player, goal,

no goal, offsides, not offside, it says here, should only
be used for that. You can't use it in an
intensity argument. Why because everything looks more intense in slow motion.
Film directors in Hollywood understand that. Slow it up, up

they've tweaked so slow mo can alter context and perspective.
That's why var created this system to be used for

youth that has played together for years, thirteen returning players
from the previous World Cup, the stakes, it's American soil.
This was the World Cup to not only get it right,
but keep on moving. We've always been good getting out
of the group stage. That's never been an issue for us.
This is where we've struggled. This is where winds are hard.

is a slight favorite. So for years you and Iowa
said things like I believe the United States will win,
and you know it was patriotic. It wasn't always justified.

a guy. If I was the Lakers and had the scratch,
I would have loved to have him back. He's long,
he's a good teammate. People like him, he's good for chemistry,
and he's a terrific three point shooter from the corner.

Everybody knew it, and then they used a VAAR review
system inappropriately. The VAAR is supposed to check the footage
in normal speed. Slow mo can be for off sides,
but in intensity arguments, intensity debates, you're not supposed.

So soccer has checks and balances, they have referees, then
they have VAR and then they have the FIFA Disciplinary Committee.
The great advantage America had is there are days in
between games, and we stood up and went objection your honor.

We weren't speeding, and then you try to confirm it
using a camera instead of a radar gun. So you
got the call wrong and the process wrong. Tradition and

that wrong, and then you inappropriately use the VAR system.
