(00:23):
Smith Show with Mike Harmon on Fox sports radio. Greetings
and welcome inside. Happy Monday the Jason Smith Show with
my best friend Mike Carmen, and I'll tell you what,
Mike harmen. Before we begin, I just want to let
you know. You you may know me for the day
(00:46):
of my life or the this run where this could
be the best three days in sports my life I
have ever had. I'm fifty one and this could be
the best three day run I've ever had. SYRACUSES heart
stopper on Saturday in the final seven seconds, the jets yesterday,
of course, and the mets are maybe twenty five minutes
(01:07):
away from Clinton to playoff birth. I mean this could
be the greatest three days and despite the fact Dave
Roberts is managing the mets to night because Max Scherzer
comes out of a perfect game after six innings. But okay, okay, okay, okay, okay,
this could be the greatest three day run of my life.
That's hit. Yeah, I mean it goes to show that, wow,
(01:29):
and you chose to do sports for a living. Yes, yes,
despite all of this, this could be because you want
to be able to revel in everybody else's excitement, because
otherwise you wallow in your own private misery. So here
you get to celebrate the good, the bad and the
ugly of the entire sporting universe, instead of just retreating
to your lonely writer's Garrett with a bag of cheetos,
(01:50):
multiple big Max and as much cheese as you can
possibly consume. No, this way you get a little bit
of a taste of everything. So I'm happy for are you?
I mean you want again? Syracuse really didn't pick up
any steam in terms of votes, but that's okay. We
picked wee, we're, we're, we're in the also getting votes
for both polls. Now, yeah, but in terms of picking
(02:12):
up a punch, he didn't excite people enough to wear
a lot of people came onto your more teams have
wins over two power five conference teams in the first
couple of weeks, three weeks of the season. We're one
of them and we still get it. That's okay. When
we're undefeated at the end they're gonna put us on
the play, which is really kind of funny, because isn't
it normally the accusation that there's the Syracuse and northwestern
(02:34):
Media Mapia's that take over and then get collective groupthink
on their side? Let me borrow from Justin Fields. The
media is not doing their part to make sure that
the Syracuse and northwestern teams are getting more coverage. Yeah,
I don't. I'm not talking about northwestern right now. Norm well,
we'll have to get into the bears and justin fields.
(02:55):
and is unwillingness to throw the ball down field the team,
unwillingness to tackle or do anything to try to stop
an opposing run, game play calling, officials, you name it.
Sunday night football was an absolute mess, but I'm glad
for you in your three days and hopefully Max Scherzer
has no setbacks after leaving after the six for the Stop, stop,
(03:22):
just stop. I did that. I did that for America. Wow,
too soon, trey lance. Look we we got too much
positivity out of you. We gotta bring you back down
a little bit. We're live from the TIRERACT DOT COM studios.
TIRERACT DOT COM will help you get there an unmatched selection, fast,
free shipping, Free Road Hazard Protection and over ten thousand
(03:43):
recommended installers. Tire IRACT DOT com the way tire buying
should be. So we'll have much more on it. Looks
they're gonna write books about week two of the NFL
season with all the crazy comebacks and blown leads and
all kinds of stuff. But right now two big games
in the NFL right now, one early in the fourth
quarter and it's over, and the both of them are trash.
(04:05):
The bills are absolutely demolishing the titans. One seven Ryan
Tannehill is out of the game after a pick six.
Malik Willis came in. He's playing quarterback right now. Josh
Allen's got three seventeen yards and four touchdowns. Three of
them Stefon Diggs, who's got a buck forty eight. Case
keenum's in the game. Look for just for this game
before we get to you know something I said preseason,
(04:27):
but but there's a lot of stuff going on because
because they're judge, two more home run three days. I know,
I know, I'm just like when they had those perfect
ginnings by all those closures. The world's ending perfect. I'm
glad I spent it with you, but we're all going
to hell for tonight's game. Like we said last week,
(04:48):
are the titans this bad? No. Is Their Window closed
on winning a championship? Probably, because you can only keep
it open for so long when you're a limited team.
But that's the thing, because you're lying at a running
back to be your guy who's got a lot of
tread on his tires. Hell, he did the ceremonial taking
off of the gloves to signal that he was when
(05:09):
my gloves are off, I'm not playing son Haskins into
the game, Don trelle Hillier and, of course, missing it
with an injury. But what we said last week, and
and this is going to be, let know, a pretty
could be a pretty boring season, because the bills are
just this good. And who are they gonna play in
the A F C championship game? Who's gonna be going
to buffalo for the A F C title game? That's
(05:31):
kind of where we are, because buffalo is just this loaded.
You see how loaded they are offensively. They don't run
the football. Doesn't matter. Josh Allen will run when he
needs to. He hasn't had to run tonight. He's had
one rushing attempt tonight. He's been throwing the football all
over the titans. Whatever the bills need to do, they do.
They will adjust their game plan. This is a game
Josh Allen needs to run. This is a game Josh
(05:52):
Allen doesn't need to run. The defense is swarming. They
are absolutely loaded. We are just gonna wait to see
who they play in the A F championship game. At
this point, for the bills, are saying find me a loss.
Is there a loss out there? That's how good buffalo is.
Where can we talk so much about Green Bay and Tamba? Yeah,
Buffalo is clearly the best team in the National Football League.
(06:13):
They are the most talented. They are the hungriest team.
It's gonna be a lot of games like this over there.
You lose like this to the bills, you can't sit
up and go boy man, no, Hey, you lose the bills.
Are gonna be a lot of teams like this. Yeah,
defensively coming into this game. Yet a number of players
on the injury we've seen a couple of scary injuries tonight.
So good thoughts with the players coming out of there,
Micah Hyde and and others that we we've seen in
(06:36):
terms of needing that medical attention. But when, when we thought,
at least in theory, Derrick Henry has owned the Buffalo
Defense and got off to a hot start, got his
rushing touchdown and then that was it. Thirteen carries, twenty
five yards. The past defense, even against the depleted secondary,
(06:58):
didn't matter. Right, it's it's just been ineptitude. And then
you've watched Josh Allen do whatever the hell he wants, right.
I mean that's that's the biggest part is Stefon diggs
is running free like a kid spring flower field, La La,
la La. There you gonna go iron maid and running free.
So we can do that. I'm running free, I'm running
(07:19):
it gives you a little bit more free I'm just
ruined it for me. Yeah, I mean you have Dame Jackson,
you have Micah Hyde, you have and hopefully for Jackson,
we we got some good news. So we're keeping it
Aye right, you still don't have t davious white, so
there may be a team that at least contest them,
(07:41):
but thus far it's walking around with a giant sledgehammer
and just running wild. And they didn't have game Davis today.
Mike doesn't he get hurt Saturday, he goes down, doesn't matter,
it's a non game day. Uh So, yes, this is
what's happening with again a boring season, because we're just
waiting to see who the bills are gonna play at
(08:01):
home in the A F C title game. Now you
mentioned Aaron Judge, who had two more home runs the weekend. Right,
I told you before the season Aaron judge was going
to be the a L M V. Yeah, alright, as
I said that. Okay, I just want I just want
to know you got all your picks wrong this week.
I don't want to try to CANDILLAC wherever you came
I don't I don't want to bring I don't want
to bring a lot of attention. I just want to mind,
(08:21):
because before the season started I also told you that
Jalen hurts was going to be the NFL M v P. Yeah, tonight,
so far against Minnesota, against a gutless I mean they're
they're giving Chicago a run for their money with the
way the defense is trying to tackle and watching guys
run by him in the secondary. Jalen hurts is two
(08:42):
fifty and one fifty yard touchdown through the air, fifty
yards and two touchdowns on the ground, including a great
touchdown run. Winny leaps over the goal line for a
score to make a four seven. The Eagles are boat
racing the Vikings and and I told Eagles are gonna
win the NFC East. Why ch out? I got the
Eagles in the NFC championship game. I told you how boys,
(09:04):
you now have their quarterback. What are you talking about?
Cooper Rush? Yes, he's Tom Brady legend, but I told you.
I mean everybody's on board. It's cooper rushes shine. But
I told you about Jalen hurts, because Jason, yes, real quickly,
time out. Yeah, yeah, you had Aaron Judge Your M
v P. You did not. Of course I did. I
(09:26):
as much as I would love to murder him for it. Um,
he actually did say there'd be enough highlight worthy plays.
That was really the argument. I know I gave you
a different word. I gave I gave you highlight, but
I gave you a different word. I gave you volume.
He is a volume quarterback that is responsible for everything
through the air and on the ground, and that's where
(09:49):
from the highlights from. Well, the highlights, highlights do it
as well, but he's because of the volume he's responsible for.
It's going to be a team that wins, because you
gotta Win Right that? The other thing is you gotta Win.
You can't be an M v P of a team
that's nine and eight, and so for all the you know, look,
I love Lamar Jackson's the guys having m VP types.
Already they've blown a game and it's one and one,
(10:09):
and how good are they? You have to win big
because you don't win the M v P playing on
a team that's not good. It's different from Major League
Baseball and the NBA, where you could finish fourth but
you can win the M v P. You can finish
out of the playoffs, you can win the M v P.
can't do that in the NFL. You have to be
a team that wins Games and wins division titles and
goes to the playoffs, and that's gonna be the eagles,
who are suddenly even more the team to beat in
(10:32):
the NFC. So look, I like them. So I told
you NFC championship game for the Eagles because I like
the path of least resistance and hurts is gonna put
a lot of points on the board. It's a huge
leap and they're not even doing at night with a
j Browne's only only got two catches tonight. Usually there's
you know, I expect every every week to be like
fifteen targets, but it's okay. But you're seeing what the
(10:52):
what the Philadelphia Eagles are doing to a lot of
people's UH cliche and and popular pick of the team
to win in the NFC north, which is the Minnesota Vikings.
And here's hurts to fifty, fifty on the ground, three touchdowns. Hurts. Yeah,
there has been a trash bag effort, as it normally
is in a primetime game, from Kirk cousins as well
(11:14):
as he plays. Now, remember against the packers, and we
talked about it all last week. They had a couple
of big plays, a couple of big misses by the
packers defense early. Otherwise that game played pretty even right
for all of the hatred. I mean think, think about
in yes and every game has their IFS and Butts
and whatever. But if you had that a catch from Watson,
(11:35):
does that game play differently? I still don't think they
could cover Justin Jefferson, but that's maybe they would actually
put Jayr Alexander on him. But today Jefferson four catches,
thirty two yards. Cousins did have a beautiful past down
field that he threw. Defender whipped his arm up in
the last second. Must have distracted IRV Smith Jr. Either
(11:56):
that or he was too busy thinking about what the
touchdown celebrations going to be. Now he did catch one
great two catches, four yards and a score. That would
have been a fifty yard touchdown. PATS instead falls harmless
lead to the TURF. And so cousins. Thirteen of nineteen. One,
oh four and a score. Right now, Dalvin Cook, and
give Credit Philadelphia, both their interiors, the offensive line defensive line.
(12:21):
Cooks right now at five carries, fourteen yards. You know
he's a pretty good player. Oh wait, now you got
boat race, so you can't use them anymore. Be Sure
to catch live editions of the Jason Smith Show with
Mike Harmon weekdays at ten PM Eastern, seven PM Pacific.
I gotta admit, on my NFL BINGO card, coming off
a week two, with all the crazy comebacks and the
(12:42):
blowouts and the I didn't have a quarterback blaming a
fan base for a slow start. Didn't. Uh, here is
bears quarterback, Justin fields. Uh for now. Uh. Well, and
I say quarterback is because he only throws up about
nine times a game. Uh, here's your real chippy. You
(13:04):
have a good weekend and all of a sudden, La La, la.
I did. Normally you come in here with your head
Tuck between you scroll. Let's start the show. Come on, people,
a couple of weeks. It's not every night the met's
Glintch of playoff. Bert Do. It was a quick exit.
I was in my forties of last time happened. So, uh,
Justin fields was asked about the mood of the team,
(13:27):
the fans, how they feel about the bears after losing
to the packers and get another one sided affair now.
He was asked about how the fans would feel about this,
and here's Justin Fields Answer. There's losing against this team,
is it? It doesn't stay warm because the rivalry and
you know how much bears fans want to win this game. Yeah,
I mean it hurts someone in the locker room, and
(13:48):
the bears fan that I mean, because at the end
of the day, they're not putting any work. Um, I
see the guys in the locker room every day. I
see how much work they put in. So just coming
out with the disappointing loss like this, Um, you know
they hurt, but you know, we just gotta respond. Uh Things.
You never say, for five, the fans don't put in
the work. Fans aren't putting in the work, Mike Harmon,
(14:09):
and this was an away game. If this was a
game last night and the fans booed and they heckled
justin fields and it was so completely terrible because he
played badly, even then you don't say bad things. But
this was a road game and he had to say
the fans don't of course fans aren't putting in the works.
(14:31):
Would put more work in. You'd be a better team.
Mike Carmon, you you're a bad bears fan. You are
not putting in the work to beat, to help the
bears beat teams like the Green Bay packers. It's your fault.
I mean it hurts the guys in the locker room more.
I get it, but you're not putting in the work
and if you were putting in the work maybe things
will be better. Yeah, the hard part is people are
only gonna hear one or two lines of that. It's
(14:53):
not gonna get contextualized at all to the actual yes,
believe me, it hurts, but you've got to know what
you're doing in the mic at the microphone. And for
Justin Bields, he's spent a lot of time in the community,
a lot of time building up goodwill. Nothing gets you
(15:15):
faster than to just be like well, I mean they're hurting,
but blank dead. We put in all the work. Uh.
Is essentially how that it comes off as cold callus says,
and it's and it's not at all. It's it's the
recognition of believe you me, this hurts us as well.
But the reporter gave a softball one just saying hey,
(15:35):
does it hurt more because it's them, because of how
much this rivalry and rivalry you put in quote, when
you put all the stats of what Rogers and his predecessor,
Brett Farve, had done to the bears over many, many years.
Trust me, I've watched it and I've suffered through many
a loss along the way, including one where, Hey, you
(15:58):
kind of let up, let him into the play out
and then they came back at beach in the NFC
title game. But we'll we'll push that aside for a moment.
You've got a million things wrong with the bears. So
all this does after that loss? Al Right, people mad
at the referees. Fine, there's a bunch of screenshots and
and quick clips that show really some egregious non calls.
(16:21):
And then the ruling at the goal line that's disputed,
but doesn't matter. Doesn't matter. All of this is irrelevant
that the fans are not doing the work here. It's
they wasn't Matt Naggy's fault. It's the fans fault. Yes,
it is. Right now, going see where was this last year?
Where was justin fields with this last year? The fans
aren't putting in the final analysis of it all. He said,
(16:45):
it's not wrong. All your points are great. They're all
an hour and a half of all of the next gens. Statue.
That how a lot of this is on. Justin fields. Yes, well, well,
number one, having him throw like nine time again, nine
times a game, is not gonna he actually throw the
ball when the opportunities were there. It would be it
would be fine if the bears fans would just do
(17:07):
their part and put the work in. Average time before
a pass right now longest in the NFL before having
to release the ball. And one of the bears fans
done to help that out. What I do? What work?
If they put in? Well, they went, they went. Done.
What you've done to help that? I've done a lot
of cursing on air. Done I don't know that that helps.
That's not putting work in. That's not that. That's not
(17:28):
I mean, I did not skip leg day. That's not
being I don't know that that's I know that's helpful
for the bean. He's ready to jointensive for you, I think.
I think that's I think that's very selfish from you.
I don't think you've nearly done enough. I've been on
the blogs, I've done some Chicago Radio, I've done some tweets,
but you could do more. Well, I mean if I
(17:49):
didn't have to defer to you in your jets Myopia
and all that crap. But these are all things and whatever.
But if I could come into your show duct tape
your mouth shut and then for four hours, for a
week straight, talk all great things about the bears, their
history and their present. Then maybe I would be able
to do my job. The problem is, unfortunately, hours that
(18:11):
be haven't flipped the whip on this. Ye. So until
that happens, there's something I can do. You have to
prove that you're doing enough to help the bears. You
have to prove you and clearly on my ass or what?
Prove it. You're in a prove you're an approve it.
Year as a bears fan. Is that's gonna do it?
Justin is that enough work? I don't know. I'M NOT
(18:33):
gonna look. Oh No, no, no, I'll be rocking a
thong walking around at home. You know, I I you
know you need. You need to buy a week as
a bears fan. You gotta recalibrate and figure out what
you're doing to help the bears and how. What you're
doing so far clearly is not working. Yeah, clearly I
mean because we didn't put in the work. You didn't
put the work in. Wouldn't hurt at all. Did you wear?
(18:54):
That's just it. Everybody got to go skipping into work
on a Monday after a packers loss. He never you
should send him a video tape of the conversations around
the proverbial water cooler where everybody takes a smoke break
in Chicago. I bet you they were cursing his ass
out before that video came out. How many sausage and
pepper sandwiches did you have last week to help the bears?
(19:15):
How many did you have? Four and a large Italian
beef and to Chicago style hot dogs. Still didn't work. Yes,
you got to do more. That's not enough. Maybe eight.
So back to Portello's we go. What you gotta do
is wake up in the morning, have one, have one
at lunch, have another one at dinner and then, right
(19:37):
before you go to bed, go agg you have a
little bit more and then something. You're doing enough. Then
I could say Mike Harmon is doing literally, have the
sodium and I will have hot dog fingers. My friend
bakers doesn't, but would you go hot dog fingers for
the bears to win? I mean, you need to listen.
I wouldn't be around to survive the spoils in the
Super Bowl in Arizona. I'd be dead. Yeah, but maybe
(19:59):
that's where, if you so, if for the bears. If
you think my kids would be happy if that dad
ate enough Bolo Sausage? Hey, same sandwich. Lost my son
very tragically in a in an N A C L accident,
but the bears are in the Super Bowl. He had
a run, he had a good run and he was
(20:20):
crunching his chest. He was fine. You should have seen
what his hands looked like. They were like tennis rackets
on Papa Panda Bears. But he had all that salt
in Him and the bears won. He wouldn't have wanted
if he didn't have that. I'll tell you it's gotta
work harder. Bears fans work harder, Justin fields. Congratulations that
night's job. Be Sure to catch live editions of the
(20:41):

any amount of anytime. I mean talk about amazing. Learn
(21:45):
more at discovered dot com slash redeem rewards. That's discovered
dot com slash redeem rewards terms. They do apply well
both Monday night football games. One has been over for
a while. One is close to being over right now,
just under six this to go in the fourth quarter.
The bills continue to lead the titans forty one to seven.
Ryan Timnehill has been gone from this game for a while.
(22:06):
Malik Willis is in, so is Josh Allen. But Josh
Allen is out after three four touchdowns. Meanwhile, Philadelphia seven
lead over the Vikings. Kirk cousins just threw a pick
and Darius slay, who picked it off, just handed the
ball to James Harden. He spread off the field, harden
(22:29):
dropped it, was able to pick it up and then
put up a shot that got locked. So yeah, uh
so seven. Jalen hurts with an incredible night. He's near
three hundred yards, passing fifty yards on the ground, three
total touchdowns. Joining us now on the hotline no one better. Oddessey,
NFL insider, a longtime friend of the show, Jason Locke
(22:51):
and four. He is on twitter at Jason Locke and
four Jay. You know, before the season started I said
Jalen hurts was gonna be the NFL M v P.
I'm thinking I'm gonna be a rich guy after all
that money I put down on it in Vegas. Well,
look that scene against the lions. Got Obviously a little
sideways last week, Um, but I mean that again. Looked
(23:14):
the commandos. I don't know how good the freaking commandos are.
I mean they basically suck, but they rolled up on
them too right. So now I'm going back to last
week saying, well, okay, they struggle with the lions, but
maybe the lions maybe like maybe, dude, that the lions
(23:36):
are their offense is legit, man. They're gone and they've
had like four offensive line injuries and they're like rot
grading people, beating the snot out of people, and rag
now is not even playing right now. They've got like
three starters that we aren't playing. Something like okay, well,
maybe I was too dismissing of this thing. And like
they're bringing a reserve offensive lineman up to the podium
(23:58):
after the game instead of Dan Camp, which is pretty
damn cool. So I'm like, you know what, maybe the
Eagles did dodge a bull last week and it was,
you know, on the road and this lion's offense might
be a lot better than anybody thought. And then now
I'm watching what they're doing here and look, I love
the Eagles to win that division. Every column I wroted
(24:21):
sports line, anything I did forward, looking from a gambling
perspective and futures through the entire offseason looking for value,
was the eagles to win that division. The Eagles is
a long shot team to represent the NFC in the
Super Bowl. I don't know if they're ready to win
a super bowl and I don't want to go too
crazy about them playing. It is still the lines and
(24:44):
and Kirk cousins on Monday night football, although I thought
he'd show better than this. But this guy is special,
like there's a lot of special stuff to him beyond
just being able to squat, you know, nine thousand and
eighty six yards or hounds. So I don't know, man Um,
I think there's still a lot for them to tap into.
(25:06):
A J Brown is going to eventually start getting into
the end zone with some regularity, um, but they're the
best team in that division. I think Sirianni and hurts
have been fairly sympatico since about week seven or eight
of last year. So there that. Look, they're an intriguing
team and he's an intriguing player. All Right, let me
(25:29):
ask you a simple question based on yesterday's game out
there with the Baltimore can Lamar Jackson played defensive back.
If only he could be showing Otani right, if only
he could play quarterback and, I don't know, free safety,
they'd be all right. They got issues, Bro and if
he could you know, be his own left guard in
(25:51):
his own center and and he already is his own
running back. Um, yeah, there you're getting nothing from the
running game at all because the center is about, you know,
four ft three, and the left guard they've been trying
to upgrade off of for three years. But yet here
we go. It's been powers. Um, yeah, they've got they've got,
(26:11):
they've got issues. Uh. Their general manager, Eric to Costa,
has continued to double down on the same sort of
asinine philosophies and personnel mistakes year after year after year,
and they lead the NFL and percentage of adjusted cap
space in their secondary you try telling me those are
(26:33):
assets well spent after watching like do a complete Damn
Marino impersonation. Dude, Miami average thirteen yards per play in
the fourth quarter of that game. I'm going to repeat
that because this is NFL, professional football, where everybody's paid.
Thirteen yards per play in the fourth quarter. They drafted
(26:56):
a kid fourteenth overall and tried to tell the world
us this amazing wist army knife do it all safety.
When Kyl Hampletons was on the field on past plays
in the second half of that game, tour was thirteen
of seventeen for two D and twenty yards and four touchdowns.
But please tell me what a difference maker he is.
I'll believe you eventually. He drafted a Dafa in the
(27:17):
first round. A year before that, they convinced Peter King
he's gonna Finish Second and defensive player of the year.
Now they also told Peuter King Justin Matebekele, who you
never heard of, was going to be the defensive player
of the year, not for the team, for the fucking
league a year ago. People keep buying da Costas Bs. Okay, well,
(27:38):
Dafa always been on the field for pass plays. This
season he has zero quarterback hits. In fact, gentlemen, he
hasn't breathed on a quarterback. He if there were quarterbacks, Schniss,
he'd have zero of those two. But again, tell me
what a difference maker he is and the kid they
took in the first round before that, Patrick Queen, like
(28:00):
for his career. quarterbacks have like a rating of one
thirty five throwing against him. So that's how you end
up with that garbage. That must have had ray Lewis
and Ed Reid puking in their old game cleats watching it.
Um where teams since eleven. We're seven hundred and eleven
and zero, up one points to start a fourth quarter,
(28:24):
and these guys not only blew that lead, they lost
by four points. Jay, I do have good news for you.
I do have good news for you. The Orioles didn't
get no hit tonight. Yeah, I know. No, no, I
have better news for you than that. You still have
two games left against the BROWNS. So there is that.
(28:45):
Bro I'm not look, I have no dog on this planet.
Like whatever. Whatever I ka, Sera, Sera. Whatever will be
will be. I just know when I watch at GM
for three straight years systematically dismantle an offensive line and systematically, uh,
pretend that edge players and pass rushers don't matter. But
my God, there's money and draft picks for we want
(29:08):
all the safeties. Just give us all the safeties and
that's all we need. We don't need we don't anything
else that we just need safeties. You, you might not
be as smart as you think you are, and the
last couple of years they don't look that smart. Well,
maybe Lamar is the smartest guy in the room. You're
not gonna give me enough guaranteed money, and I'm looking
(29:28):
at this roster going saying what the Hell am I
staying here for? Well, look, it's all business man their
owners making business decisions, their general managers making business decisions.
And Lamar. And what's he worth right now? Like we
could play this game every week, like what's what's he
worth right now, after he just became the first player
in NFL history to have three passing yards, three passing
(29:53):
T ds, one hundred rushing yards and a rushing t d?
And the same game, Lamar, he's gonna have the receipts,
he's gonna have the receipts, just like I was going
to have the receipt I gotta have the receipts. I
got the receipts. Hey, you knew you had to get
to the I mean that Brown's thing wasn't just a division, Jason.
(30:14):
What was that? What? I got cute and picked the
Browns as my survivor pick of the week. And you know,
because I'm like, well, let me get the people something
that's a little bit out there. And you know, a
team you're not really thinking of right now. And Man,
I think they're going to be able to control this game. Oh,
and they did, until they didn't. Well, yeah, to. I
(30:38):
mean both running backs did did things that people should
be mad at, but in the end the head coach
has to have some some once of control. Uh. So
you get the loss there. Uh. And that's obviously the
one that reverberates with Smith, because he's walking around like
he's the Whiz from that famous Seinfeld the Whiz, and
nobody beats me. People forget how bad had we played.
(31:00):
We we got, yes, until that last two minutes it
was so great, so awesome. All right, J hey, elsewhere
Monday night football, we talked about the eagles. The bills
win in the dominant fashion over the titans. And is
the Titans Window closed for championship? Probably, but I wouldn't
feel so bad because the bills are just this good.
(31:22):
I mean I feel like it's gonna be a year where, okay,
we're just waiting to see who goes into Buffalo for
the FC Championship. The bills are this good. But the
A F C West is, I mean the the A
F C south is the worst it's been since like
peak portals, when people were trying to convince me that
portals was a good quarterback and like the Jags were
a good team. Uh, a F C south is a joke. Um,
(31:47):
I mean, dude, I fear the Texans. I'm just telling you,
because these other outfits are complete garbage. Derrick Kennedy's done.
The the titans play action passing. It's act is done. Um.
This Lawan injury coupled with the landry injury. Like I
(32:08):
I just think the titans, it is a big old
case of diminishing returns. Um Willis. I know he played
a little tonight in garbage time, but I think they're
going to have to play Willis in the next month
to six weeks because they're gonna have to run an
option offense, because the only way to sustain things is
on the ground and just lineing up in the eye
(32:29):
with Derrick Henry is not is not a thing anymore. Um.
But the bills are that good. The bills, the bills
are really freaking good. And I know it was chalky
to like buffalo plus ten and like Buffalo Team total
over twenty nine and a half, but sometimes chalk is
also just reality and sometimes the public is right because
(32:52):
it's a mismatch, and this this was a mismatch, Um,
and I think again the the titans. I know that
you can look at a lot of trends and save
Rabel this and Rabel that, what have you, but that's
when he had a guy who could go for two
thousand yards and he given season and that's when he
had the best play action passing attack in the NFL.
(33:14):
And now he has neither of those and he also
doesn't have a j Brown um and he also has
a d line that, while I still think is very good, Um,
it's not what it was last year. Jason Lock, and
for with us here the Jason Smith Show with Mike
Harmon Fox Sports Radio Odyssey, one oh five seven, the fan,
(33:34):
longtime NFL inside. You follow him on twitter at Jason Locking.
For a last one for you, Jason Uh an era.
That started not the way you want to see things shift.
But Jimmy Garoppolo back in charge in San Francisco. Long term,
we'll see what happens with lance. Short term, it seems everybody's,
at least from all the anonymous sourcing, is excited to
(33:57):
see Jimmy g back under center. I mean this is
it's it's a really, really unfortunate situation, because this young man,
just think about it, he hasn't played football with like
complete regularities. You can almost have to go back to
high school. And as much as I think they knew,
(34:20):
and all my reporting pointing me to the fact that
they knew that Garoppolo was the best quarterback on their roster,
which is why they went about the long and arduous
process of not just a minor contract negotiation but completely
they get a complete new contract. Don't kid yourself. The
(34:40):
nuance and the amount of effort that went into that
was because they knew they were going to need this
guy more likely than not. Um, it doesn't mean that
Lance doesn't have better upside, it doesn't mean that Lance
isn't a better athlete. It doesn't mean that Lance Um
can hit notes that Jimmy can't think about hitting anymore.
But it's what happens between those, you know, beautiful high
(35:03):
notes that Lance hits. His lows are way lower. The
level of sort of conservative ship you have to have
over that that offense is much higher. Uh, the handcoffs
are on that, the guardrails are on. With Jimmy g
you can you can open up the whole playbook at
any given time. So, Um, I feel awful for Trey Lance.
(35:24):
I you know the way his career has evolved to
this point. You throw in the pandemic and everything else. Uh,
is regrettable. It's unfortunate. But are there chances of playing
deep into January slash February? Are they much greater with
(35:46):
Garoppolo starting to play now and getting his sea legs
under him and being there, UM, their starting quarterback? Yeah,
it is, and I think you'll see it reflected in
the Vegas odds sooner rather than later. On twitter, at
Jason Locke and four, that is at Jason Locke and
for Odysse the NFL insider, uh, and now going to
(36:07):
be working on chronicling. Syracuse is run to the college
football playoffs. My daughter just applied early decision. If they
hooked me up with financial aid, I will. I'll put
forth any narrative that could possibly help the orange for
when I went there, orange man, I am completely on board.

the biggest topic. Don't do a team in blue and
Orange has just clinched a playoff berth. That's right, the
Houston Astros are into the postseason yet again. Yeah, we'll
get to that. I thank you very much. That's right.
(37:32):
You can lead a horse to water. In the NFL
we have two games tonight. Blow out at Buffalo, blowout
so far at Philadelphia. That bill's win seven over Tennessee,
which is o into Derrick Henry, thirteen carries, twenty five
yards in a touchdown, Ryan tannehill through two interceptions, including
a pick six, and, by the way, off the bench,
Malik Willis one of four passing and also had a fumble.
(37:56):
Josh Allen, four touchdown passes, three to Stephanig stigs, twelve receptions,
a hundred forty eight yards. Then there's the game with
Minnesota at Philadelphia. Each hit one season openers. PHILLY's jalen
hurts is dominating this game. It's early fourth quarter, eagles
seven in the lead over a Minnesota team that did
not have a first down in the first quarter. Meanwhile,
(38:18):
Jalen hurts right now for the game, twenty five of
twenty nine passing, three, twenty two yards in a t
D and Two touchdown runs as well. Hurts nine carries,
fifty six yards. Yes, I gotta Stop You real quickly.
Joey Gallo hit a home run. Does that have to
do with the blue in the orange that I heard? No, no,
(38:39):
Joe run. Let's go. Yeah, just win number one, oh two, exactly.
Just met, met, met Smith, Smith Game. The Eagles are

the A L West title for the fifth time in
the last six years. The Astros were four nothing winners
at Tampa Bay. Houston's Jord on Alvarez continues a great season.
Somebody should have picked him for M v P this year.
(39:21):
My goodness, he will finish a great distant third in
M v P voting. It is a great season. He's
batting three Oh four. Had An RBI single tonight. That's
runs betted in. He was just named a l player
of the week today. Alvarez hit over five hundred with
five homers. Last week, by the way, N L player
of the week the padres. You Darvish, who threw four
shutout innings with only three hits allowed. TODAY WINS FOR
(39:44):
SEATTLE AND CLEVELAND. Tonight's both Atlanta and the mets were victorious.
Met still a game over the braves in the NL East,
but the mets victory their fifth straight clinches at least
a wild card spot. Seven to the final at Milwaukee.
Max Scherzer off the injured list, beats Corbin Burns and
shows are through six perfect innings, only sixty eight pitches
and was pulled. He had nine strikeouts. Atlanta's win was
(40:07):
five two over Washington. Kyle right. Nineteen and five for
the braves. Getting this victory six innings, seven strikeouts. Detroit
a winner at Baltimore Eleven to nothing. So while the
twins lost today eleven four at Cleveland, twins might not
be making the playoffs. There's seventy three and seventy four.
Now Baltimore, with two hits tonight, is all and getting
(40:27):
shut out eleven zip. They might not be making it.
Two and a half weeks to go. The Orioles now
five games out of the final Ale wild card spot
behind the mariners. And yes, the dodgers are in the
late game. Clayton Kershaw and company up one nothing on
Arizona in the bottom of the second inning. Yankees are
off to Aaron Judge After two home runs yesterday has
fifty nine Al Record Sixty one. Back to you thanks
(40:49):

Mike harmon coming up next with TIRECT DOT COM studios. Uh,
it's a hot take that is probably gonna come true.
