Mike Harmon on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (00:29):
Oh, let's go, staking g Let's go big boy, let's
go Warreya man, how was your day?
Speaker 4 (00:35):
Jeff took a two and a half hour took a
two and a half hour nap, So I'm feeling good today.
Speaker 5 (00:42):
Your son gets signed and you celebrate by taking a
two and a half hour nap.
Speaker 4 (00:47):
Well that was at g earlier. I just we just
got it posted now. Oh okay, so but yeah, by
the way, yeah, my son outside, he's gonna be playing
in like southern eastern Ontario.
Speaker 3 (00:58):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (00:59):
This is a rest of four thousand people in the town,
and they get seven hundred and fifty people go to
the games.
Speaker 3 (01:06):
That's in pretty good percent. That's population.
Speaker 4 (01:09):
That's because it only holds seven fifty. If it holds
fifteen hundred, fifteen hundred would go to the games, and
they were showing a picture of the jerseys. They have
a fight strap now, where a strap hooks onto your
pants so when you get into a fight, they can't
pull it over your head, and you know, so then
they can pummele you. So it's straight up. I'm like,
(01:30):
why why you gotta be fighting, Why you gotta be throwing?
You're a goalie for.
Speaker 3 (01:34):
Crying out, lad, that's a good point. He's a goalie.
Why does he need the fight strap as a goalie?
Speaker 4 (01:40):
No, they all have all the jersey fight straps. But
I'm like, you know, that'll be fine because the first
time he goes out there, there'll be some crazy goalie
like from Mike slapshot that will punch his face in
and then he won't do it anymore. You know, you
got to learn the hard way. I guess that's that's
what we'll think.
Speaker 5 (01:57):
So gotta learn the hard way. Look out for Ogi Oglethorpe.
Speaker 4 (02:02):
Yeah, there's a guy. They have og Oglethorpe on their team.
Thiscause though there's a guy on their team that they
kept saying you know what, this guy leads the league.
In last year he led the league in starting fights.
I'm like, oh, I like this guy already. Man, I
like him.
Speaker 3 (02:16):
It's kind of guy like to have.
Speaker 4 (02:17):
I gotta tell you this is like it's it's like
really out of slap shot. It's it's you want to
talk about minor league to the to the minor leagues.
I it's just incredible. I mean you really like you
could make another movie about it.
Speaker 6 (02:30):
That.
Speaker 4 (02:30):
That's that's how crazy it is. But whatever, it's his life,
so let's go. So I even keep playing hockey, so
somebody as well keep doing that.
Speaker 5 (02:37):
I guess to give that full background for those that
aren't aware, Arnie Sun. After a stellar collegiate career, he's
pursuing his professional hockey career. So congratulations to Shay Span.
That's big time. As we come to you live from
the tire rack dot Com studios tonight, tire rack dot
com will help you get there and unmatched the selection, fast,
free shipping, free road hazard of protection in over ten
(02:59):
thousand recommended installers.
Speaker 3 (03:01):
Tyrock dot com the way tire buying should be.
Speaker 5 (03:03):
I'm pumped to hang out with you tonight, Arnie yes,
because I feel like we have a ton of stuff
to get to.
Speaker 4 (03:08):
Now, how many Roman numerals I gave you? You have
thirty two Roman numerals?
Speaker 3 (03:12):
You have thirty Well, I won't lie to you, dude.
I have my own agenda for the show tonight.
Speaker 4 (03:18):
I ah, I really I added some late ones that
were pretty good too.
Speaker 5 (03:22):
That you make something see here for those that aren't
familiar with our Sunday Night show. Arnie is insistent in
sending a rundown that has Roman numerals with very little
details and incredibly impossible to read handwriting. And let's see tonight, Yeah,
I only have I only have xxix?
Speaker 3 (03:41):
Is that thirty two?
Speaker 4 (03:42):
Though? The xxix is Roman nouble twenty nine?
Speaker 3 (03:46):
Yeah? I only got twenty nine, so you don't be
holding back a few there? Well, there you go.
Speaker 5 (03:50):
You don't know how to space thirty two is on
the My gosh, man, you could not make a more
confusing attempt at a rundown for me tonight. What are
you doing because thirty one thirty two is Dax pickleball
teams know that's do you want us to get it fired?
Speaker 4 (04:07):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (04:07):
Twenty two?
Speaker 4 (04:08):
Yeah, that's well, they were oh and nine I just
thought we'd bring that up.
Speaker 3 (04:11):
Are you trying to?
Speaker 5 (04:12):
I mean, we don't get these opportunities together and you
have Dak's pickleball team on the rundown?
Speaker 3 (04:17):
What are we even doing here at Brushinger. I have
to walk, I have way.
Speaker 4 (04:20):
I have rover new role number thirty, which is your
Raiders have the third best best offense in the preseason,
and that was without Jacobs. I thought that was very
gratuitous that I put that in there.
Speaker 5 (04:30):
I appreciate you putting that in the rundown. I'm not
allowing myself to have hope. For those that aren't familiar,
Arnie and I do a show on Sunday nights from
ten p to one a Central time, God's time zone
eleven to two Eastern Time, so we get a chance
to react and recap to the weekend and kind of
in our mind set the tone for the week ahead.
But I am a oh, I'm just a beaten down
(04:52):
Raiders fan. Yeah, I'm not allowing myself to have hope
this season. I'm just not going to bit a hope,
a little bit of hope, but it's starting to peak
a bit. I'm falling for aid and O'Connell even though
he's against the Scrubs. Jimmy, she looked really good in
the max protect throw swing pass drives that he was in.
Speaker 3 (05:12):
Starting to believe in Zamir White a little bit. Here's
the thing, do.
Speaker 4 (05:15):
You know, by the way, could I just say, not
only is Aid and O'Connell preseason Hall of Famer?
Speaker 3 (05:21):
Right?
Speaker 4 (05:22):
You know what he's won now though he is the
preseason MVP.
Speaker 3 (05:25):
Well, we still have another game to go.
Speaker 4 (05:26):
Yeah, I think he's wrapped it up.
Speaker 5 (05:28):
I don't think we need to start handing out those
awards quite yet, and especially from you given your track record.
But I have allowed myself to have a horrible, horrible
illness and ailment creep into my life because, let's be fair,
no team loses a nine year starter and just gives
him away like the Raiders did.
Speaker 3 (05:46):
Derek Carr.
Speaker 5 (05:46):
I mean, Carson Wentz got a freaking first round pick,
and Sam Darnold, you're able to get a second round
pick for him, and Alex Smith I ain't got a
second round pick twice, but we can't get anything for
Derek Carr. And you're giving Darren Waller to the Giants.
Out's fair, Darren Waller last year didn't seem like he
might have quit. Maybe didn't mesh all that well with
the Raiders' staff. But I wasn't allowing myself to have
(06:07):
hope because you're in a division with who You're in
a division with Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert. I like
a O'Connell, I like Jimmy g I don't know if
you're gonna beat those teams with those guys, but you
could with Caleb Williams.
Speaker 3 (06:19):
So I was on team Tank, but I've done.
Speaker 5 (06:21):
A one eighty recently, Arnie, I've allowed to enter my life,
so I need it taken away rather quickly.
Speaker 4 (06:27):
You know, I love how you say how we got
nothing for car and that leaves a bad taste in
your mouth. Now you know how angel fans are gonna
feel coming up in a couple of months when they
when the best player in baseball walks away for their
team and they get absolutely nothing for him. So they're
they're gonna know exactly how you feel, actually, because that's
that's what's going to happen into them.
Speaker 5 (06:47):
I would defend it by saying I like Derek Carr
a lot. He is not a generational once in a
lifetime player like, oh, TONI is okay.
Speaker 4 (06:57):
I gotta go to the Super Bowl this year.
Speaker 3 (06:59):
What's that? You know?
Speaker 4 (07:00):
I have the Saints and the Dolphins.
Speaker 5 (07:05):
Well, that's gonna change after whatever team plays well this
weekend in the preseason, right, that's it?
Speaker 4 (07:09):
Could I get one more mulligan? Up? This is it?
This Sunday is the one more mulligan I get for
my final predictions?
Speaker 3 (07:18):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (07:18):
Well, I I appreciate that because I do want to
see Derek Carr and Darren Waller do well. But if
the Saints make the Super Bowl this year, you can
cut off one of my fingers live on radio. I
will have a bit. I'll come to Los Angeles. I'll
walk in. You can numb it down, you can pick
which finger you want, and you can chop that bad
boy off.
Speaker 3 (07:39):
And I like the Saints too.
Speaker 5 (07:40):
You know, I was thinking about this today as we
come to you live from the ti rack dot Com studios. God,
I want to sit here and talk about my team
for the next four hours, So I.
Speaker 4 (07:47):
Could you got use that? Would?
Speaker 3 (07:49):
I'm not going to Arnie. I want to talk about
the NFC a bit. Today.
Speaker 5 (07:53):
Baker Mayfield was named the starting quarterback for the Tampa
Bay Buccaneers. You and I spend endless amounts of times
with hot take knee jerk projections on Sunday Night. And
this isn't about Baker Mayfield by any stretch of the imagination. This,
to me is about how truly wide open the NFC is. Right,
we all think the Eagles are slam duncan Boy did
(08:13):
they get better in the offseason?
Speaker 3 (08:15):
Right?
Speaker 4 (08:15):
They are the overwhelming favorites, no doubt about that.
Speaker 5 (08:18):
But keep this in mind. Let's just look at the
NFC East. Do you know the last time there was
a repeat division winner in the NFC East.
Speaker 4 (08:27):
I don't know the exact year, but I know it's
been what a while? I guess what?
Speaker 3 (08:30):
N years?
Speaker 4 (08:31):
Oh, nineteen years, ten years.
Speaker 5 (08:34):
In the last eleven seasons, the last place team in
the division won the East the following season six.
Speaker 4 (08:44):
Times, six out of eleven years.
Speaker 5 (08:46):
Six out of eleven years. And oh, by the way,
you all kind of think about all the Giants. They've
only won the division twice since two thousand and six,
and oh, by the way, they've also Wonce's say about
a super Bow in that time. And they last won
a division title in twenty eleven. And oh, by the way,
you might think that Giants Cowboys matchup is familiar in
(09:09):
Week one, it's the seventh time in the last eleven
years that those two teams have met in Week one.
All those notes courtesy of Peter King's Football Night in
America Our Football Morning in America. It really good stuff.
Just kind of lays out the statistical anomalies. Right, we
always have a team, what was your note? Eighteen of
twenty years a team has gone from worse to first,
(09:30):
So we're always kind of looking at that.
Speaker 3 (09:31):
That's a wild stat in the NFC East.
Speaker 4 (09:34):
That's crazy. Can you imagine if we had that in
the other sports too, that would be same, It'd be amazing.
Speaker 3 (09:40):
But who right now? Who right now? Would you say? Man?
Speaker 5 (09:44):
I am one hundred percent comfortable saying that they're gonna
go and play in the NFC Championship game. I feel
like it's pretty wide open in the NFC. I like
the Eagles a lot, right We'll see how people adjust
to the running game and how they use Jalen Hurts
and two seasons now, but they've got new offensive and
defensive coordinators, and I know Eagle fans are celebrating Jonathan
(10:06):
Gannon being gone. But it's a completely different world on
the offensive side of things, right, it's a whole new
world with no Tom Brady and Tampa in the NFC South.
You don't have Aaron Rodgers in the North anymore. I
love the Niners in their roster, but Bosa hasn't signed yet.
Speaker 3 (10:22):
I mean, we'll see.
Speaker 4 (10:23):
Such a question their quarterback. I mean, I if we're
gonna do a negative on each one, I'll start with
their quarterback. Who knows if brock Perty is really the
quarterback that they had last year? Who knows if he's
not gonna, you know, get the second year, you know,
and have a bad year on that. There could be
all kinds of problems in San Francisco.
Speaker 5 (10:42):
I guess my question, if it boils down to something here, Arnie,
is this. And I'd love to hear from the Fox
Sports Radio Nation tonight at eight seven, seven ninety nine
on Fox eight seven seven nine nine six sixty three
six ' nine. We've got the We've got the X up,
so you get hit us up at Steaking Genius one him.
I'm at Plank Show as well. But who are you
just over the top, supremely confident in the NFC, and
(11:04):
right now you you have had this I don't want
to say bit but roman numeral right every week that
you feel like of the divisions, what six of them
are already finished?
Speaker 4 (11:15):
Over six of the six of the eight have already
been clinched coming into this year.
Speaker 5 (11:19):
But again you're talking about one division where you haven't
had a repeat winner back to back years since two
thousand and six. You also are counting on a Minnesota
Vikings team that no offense to my man Eric up
in Minnesota. But Arnie, that's bi statistical dork analysis. It
was one of the luckiest teams last year. I saw
that out there with one of the PFF things a
(11:41):
complete and total unknown right with the with the AFC
NFC South period, and then I can't figure out what
mo the Rams are in. Are they going forward again
or are they are they tanking to make sure that
Sean McVay can get him the quarterback he wants in
Caleb Williams. Are the Niners going to figure things out
with Bosa and his brock perty going to be his
(12:02):
advertised I mean, I feel like outside of the Eagles
and maybe the Cowboys, I feel like every team has
these wild questions, and I can't figure out who I'm
confident in right now.
Speaker 4 (12:12):
Oh, Cowboys have questions also, But you know, as of Minnesota,
it's so much both ways. Yes, I like Minnesota as
a team, and yeah they were very lucky last year,
but I mean, who's going to do it otherwise? Yes,
I like Detroit, that's the sexy pick, but are they
really ready to win the division? Certainly, I'm not going
to be picking the Packers and Jordan Love. I mean
that is that guy gonna come in here first year
(12:32):
as a starter and lead the Packers to the division.
I like the Bears, but come on, there were three
and fourteen last year, so I don't see it worse
the first there. So, out of all the teams that
I've said were clinched all the divisions, I'm more sure
about Minnesota than any of the other divisions.
Speaker 3 (12:47):
Out You're more sure about Minnesota.
Speaker 4 (12:49):
Maybe Kansas City, but yeah.
Speaker 3 (12:51):
I'd probably walk that back just a little bit.
Speaker 4 (12:53):
Yeah maybe Kansas City.
Speaker 5 (12:55):
Well maybe they've only dominated that division and pretty much
the AFC for what since Patrick Mahomes stepped on the field.
Speaker 4 (13:02):
Yeah yeah, yeah, but too bad that NFC.
Speaker 5 (13:04):
I think I look at it right now, and it
gets me pretty pumped to see how wide open it
is now with the news of the day. You surprised
you all the Baker Mayfield after let's face, and it
wasn't necessarily the greatest run with the Panthers.
Speaker 3 (13:17):
I think he went one and five.
Speaker 5 (13:19):
H he went with two and two with the with
the Broncos because they beat their He didn't start in
that Raiders game, but they beat up on the Broncos
on Christmas and whatever that was against the Raiders on
Thursday night. But it's Does it intrigue at all about Tampa?
Do you put them on Team Team Tank this year?
Speaker 7 (13:37):
No?
Speaker 4 (13:38):
Actually, that's not what I thought about when I heard
about Baker Mayfield the first thing. And I wasn't really
thinking about it because I'm I'm saying to myself, it's
gonna be the Saints Division anyway. But what I was
thinking about Tampa is, out of all the teams and
quarterbacks sort of premium. Everybody wants a quarterback. Everybody's looking
that was the best that Tampa could come up with,
because I mean, you would think that they'd be able
(13:58):
to make a trade, not not for obviously a top quarterback.
But somebody they could have made a move for some
veteran you know what isn't Jameis Winston. Still, I don't know.
There's gotta be somebody out there that you could have
gotten to the starter over Baker Mayfield. What what I mean?
(14:19):
My goodness, is it that thinn and quarterback for these
guys coming out of college that you can't I would
I would have just rather dialed up Trey Lant and
see what he've gotten, see if they trade him. Seriously,
I went, what do you do it? I can't believe
that they're so thinnic quarterback coming out of college that
we can't even get what thirty two decent starting quarterbacks
(14:41):
out there?
Speaker 3 (14:41):
Well, what do you mean they're so thin at college?
We had one quarterback battle in the NFL and camp.
Speaker 7 (14:48):
No.
Speaker 4 (14:48):
I meant being the starter, you know, Like like I said,
Baker Mayfield, he's a starter now.
Speaker 5 (14:53):
Right, But he was the number one pick in the draft,
and the guy that was in the top five that year,
Sam Darnold, were slobbering all over because apparently he's getting
the greatest coaching that a quarterback has ever received in
his life this year, which might be fair because he
was with the Jets of the Panthers the last couple
of years. I mean, I don't I disagree on hundred percent.
I think we're getting some of the best quarterbacking that
(15:14):
we've ever seen. I think the problem is, you know,
it's it's just few and far between with the guys
that can stay healthy. The leashes are shorter than they've
ever been. I mean, the fact that Jordan Love has
been with Green Bay as long as he's as he's
been Nie, and they're now giving him a chance and
it's taken that long. I mean, you and I were
used to that back in our day, right, Philip Rivers
(15:35):
set for several years before you.
Speaker 4 (15:36):
Wear a hat? Yeah, yeah, I clipboard nicely.
Speaker 3 (15:39):
You know that, though Aaron Rodgers did it.
Speaker 5 (15:40):
I mean, in three seasons since he was drafted in
the first round, Jordan Love has one start. He's played
in ten games totaled in three years combined, and didn't
even step on the field his rookie year. That's unheard
of for a first round pick right in the National
Football League. So there's there's a shorter ramp up. I mean, listen,
(16:01):
we're gonna talk about when we come back. You brought
up Trey Lance Arnie. As much as my mind is
blown by this, I mean, it sounds like the Niners
are tapping out. It sounds like they're about to punt
on a guy that they gave up more draft capital
than you could ever fathom when we all should have
seen this coming because he's started with like ten games
(16:22):
since high school.
Speaker 3 (16:23):
So I understand where you're.
Speaker 5 (16:25):
Coming from, But I think we're getting some of the
best quarterback play that we've had a while.
Speaker 3 (16:29):
Are you talking about more numbers of guys?
Speaker 4 (16:32):
Well, just saying, you know, you look at all look
at some of the quarterbacks. Are some of the teams
that are lacking starting quarterback? And as of Trey Lance,
I wasn't on that Trey Lance back Baywagen, But what
do you what do.
Speaker 3 (16:44):
You mean teams that are lacking starting quarterbacks?
Speaker 5 (16:46):
There was only one battle for a starting quarterback right now,
because thirty one of the thirty two teams pretty much
had it set.
Speaker 4 (16:54):
No no, no, like like Baker Mayfield, Like really is that,
like I said, is that the best they could do
at quarter back out there? You know you.
Speaker 3 (17:02):
Mentioned Trask was a second round pick.
Speaker 4 (17:06):
Geez, I mean again, that's the best you can do
there too. I mean, really, you think there'd be a
better battle out there, But I guess I'm wrong.
Speaker 5 (17:13):
Well, I mean, Jalen Hurts was a second round pick.
Look at him that he sucks, No, mean so much.
I mean, but we didn't know Jalen Hurts. Was Jalen Hurts?
You were actually anti Jabs, anti Jalen Hurts, I was.
I didn't think he was going to be an NFL quarterback.
Speaker 4 (17:29):
Well, look at Mahomes. I mean he was, uh, you know,
not the top pick.
Speaker 3 (17:35):
Well, but the Chiefs gave up a first round pick
to go up and get him.
Speaker 4 (17:39):
That's that's true.
Speaker 5 (17:40):
He had a horrible, horrible team around him at Texas Tech.
But no, I just the core in all of this
is how wide open I think the NFC is. And
Baker getting named the starter at Tampa, I don't think
change is too much in that NFC South and it
does maybe trigger a few thoughts of all, right, is
Tampa one of those teams that's thrown in the towel
here and they're gonna.
Speaker 3 (18:00):
Be Team Tank.
Speaker 2 (18:01):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith

Fred by Carbon Mike. How does it feel that? Let
me drive a little bit? We pulled that over. We
pulled the car run over, and we said, Plank, get
in the drive, get into the passage.
Speaker 5 (18:50):
Little tipsy, gotta get myself a little sobered up, and then.
Speaker 4 (18:54):
Have yourself a turkey sandwich for provoloaded Mayo, have your chips,
your potato chips or pretzels or whatever the hell you We.
Speaker 3 (19:03):
Gotta go healthy, Arnie, it's carrots, a little broccoli.
Speaker 4 (19:05):
Come on, not on our road trip, not on our
road trip at all.
Speaker 3 (19:08):
Fair enough, fair enough, fair enough.
Speaker 4 (19:12):
We got to get to the poll. Who do you
want to drive the rest of the show, Arnie or Chris, I.
Speaker 5 (19:19):
Don't care drive then I don't. We're not in a
competition mar each other. We're five four hours.
Speaker 4 (19:25):
And sixty seven thousand, right, Chris with six all right,
so keep the keep the voting coming. It's Scott's close.
That's that's more than Hey.
Speaker 5 (19:35):
I want to talk about this for a moment because
there's a couple of tweets in a rolling it.
Speaker 7 (19:38):
Ah.
Speaker 5 (19:39):
This is really easy because you can like talk about
these things like I try to talk about you want
to go and I'll just take in a completely different
direction you so you can live your own life here
a little bit.
Speaker 4 (19:49):
It's so funny because we got a tweet that says,
it's your turn to interrupt the stinking genius now play.
Speaker 3 (19:54):
Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 4 (19:55):
Oh, that's so funny. That is so funny out there.
By the way, I just want to tell you we
felt for something. I think that's not true that we
talked about it. I believe on Sunday Show or one
of the time we filled them before that that Taylor
Swift thing, the restaurant thing that wasn't her Okay, it
(20:16):
was a no. I guess there's a there's an article
about a Taylor Swift look alike. You didn't see that
there's a Taylor Swift look alike. And let me tell
you something, Chris. Yes, she looks like on a scale
of one to ten, just based on looks alone, she
looks like Taylor's like an eight. And then you throw
on the clothes with the hat and stuff, and you know,
(20:39):
you play it up a little bit ted out of tad, Chris,
I'm saying ted out of ted Really, I mean she's
taking pictures with people, and I mean she's got to
be able to make a living off that. I'm telling
you a matter of fact, I've always told Chris, I
always told you you like Tommy Lloyd, the uh the
head coach at the University of Arizona basketball. I mean,
(21:01):
you look exactly.
Speaker 3 (21:02):
Like you gonna get paid, then let's go.
Speaker 4 (21:04):
No, I'm saying, you look and you. People used to
tell me, I don't know if you remember, see, I
have to go old school for for me to look
like an athlete. People used to tell me I look
like Jerry Cooney.
Speaker 3 (21:16):
Do you remember what?
Speaker 4 (21:17):
Sure, Yeah, the boxer.
Speaker 5 (21:19):
Somebody that's good at this. Hit me up with a
Jerry Cooney Arnie Spaniard side by side.
Speaker 4 (21:25):
They say, Jerry Cooney, Jay Leno type.
Speaker 3 (21:28):
Look, now you do you do kind of look like
modern day Jerry Cooney who is still with us?
Speaker 4 (21:35):
Oh yes, I didn't know that.
Speaker 3 (21:37):
Still alive sixty seven years old.
Speaker 5 (21:40):
This updated picture of him is like, yeah, it's got
a little steaking genius to it. But like my I mean,
whenever he was the boxer and in his prime, I
mean that dude was ripped. Yeah, dude was in great shape.
Speaker 3 (21:52):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (21:53):
I could see why people thought we looked like that.
I could see that. So, I mean, you've not had
friends that there like dead ringers for for other people
out there, Like we had a guy in our high
school who looked just like Kevin Costner. I mean even
when Kesin I guess when Kevin was just kind of
getting famous.
Speaker 3 (22:11):
You know what I'm gonna say, what, dear, did you
graduate from high school?
Speaker 7 (22:14):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (22:14):
Wow, I did date myself on that. Geez, didn't you.
Speaker 3 (22:16):
Graduate from high school in like the eighties eighty one?
Speaker 5 (22:23):
Was Kevin Costner even doing movies or as he got
older that.
Speaker 4 (22:26):
He got start No, as he got older, because he
was a he was a Kevin Costner fill in in
in some movies.
Speaker 3 (22:32):
Oh, I see what you're saying.
Speaker 5 (22:33):
So whenever he was in high school and like, man,
you look like Kevin Costner. As his career progressed, he
got those opportunities. O.
Speaker 4 (22:40):
Yeah, yeah, you got he did. And he even had
lunch with Whitney Houston once. He told us, so, I
had pretty cool. I mean that's a that's some pretty
badass stuff. But anyway, anyway, enough for that. Look what
you have done. You I'm driving the but then you're
steering us into the ditch.
Speaker 3 (22:53):
Stuff.
Speaker 4 (22:53):
You're steering us into the ditch while I'm driving the floor.
Speaker 3 (22:56):
I have the car, you do?
Speaker 4 (22:57):
I mean, my goodness, all right, I do want to
get to that stor that you sent me because I
know you couldn't get to it fast enough for me
to get And that was the story about Tua. Because
I anything there's bad about Tua, I won't hear.
Speaker 3 (23:11):
Yes, what do you think of that?
Speaker 7 (23:13):
Well?
Speaker 4 (23:13):
I won't hear from Plank for like what like weeks
And next thing, you know, like a bunch of tweets
come in. I'm like okay, or a text and I
go something was the bad happen to Tua. ESPN aatalyst
Ryot Clark said, Dolphins quarterback Tua has been spending too
much time getting tattoos instead of working out and listening
(23:34):
to a nutritionist during the off season.
Speaker 3 (23:36):
Do you want to hear it?
Speaker 7 (23:37):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (23:37):
Oh you got it there?
Speaker 5 (23:38):
Yeah, I got it right here. This was during NFL
Live Today. Shout outs to my personal favorite aggregator at
Underscore mL Football for this.
Speaker 3 (23:48):
This is Ryan Clark.
Speaker 1 (23:49):
Hey five for seven, sixty one yards and an interception.
Speaker 6 (23:53):
So Rocky started the game for tour right there, our
team and go he did Oh sleep, yeah, sleep.
Speaker 3 (23:59):
Because I'm hurt. I ain't tough, I tell you. Let
me tell you what he wasn't doing.
Speaker 4 (24:03):
He wasn't in the gym with me.
Speaker 3 (24:09):
He might have spent a lot of time in the
tattoo parlor. He was not at the dinner table eating
with the nutritionist head advice.
Speaker 4 (24:16):
He looks happy. Yeah, he's built like uh.
Speaker 3 (24:22):
Girls work at Onyx in Atlanta.
Speaker 4 (24:25):
Right now on the bottom.
Speaker 3 (24:28):
How this is analysis?
Speaker 4 (24:30):
Wow?
Speaker 5 (24:31):
This is analysis? I guess so this is top level analysis?
The hell are we doing right now?
Speaker 4 (24:38):
ESPN? Does to it look thick to you? Does it
look thick to me? For maybe maybe he should gain
a little bit more muscle, you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 5 (24:47):
Onyx, by the way, is a gentleman's club in Atlanta,
so I get it.
Speaker 3 (24:52):
It's not always ex'es and o's. It can be fun.
Speaker 5 (24:56):
But that just seemed like, I mean, have a pin,
you guys, that's what everyone wants.
Speaker 3 (25:02):
But that seemed like a cheap shot to me.
Speaker 4 (25:04):
No, you know, I'm okay. The next thing, though, they
should have said, and not only does he look thick,
because he's looking nice and fat, he's gonna have a
bad year. At least back it up with a prediction.
Tell me what he's going to do. Don't just tell
me that he's looking fat. And next thing, you know,
they come out and they're five and oho or something
like that, and they're like, well, I knew too. You know,
if he was just gonna stay healthy, he was gonna
(25:25):
be great. You know, if you told me he's looking fat,
tell me that he's not gonna do well. You you
tell me how much weight did he get. I didn't
see any gain weight. And by the way, the tattoo thing,
that's kind of a shot. If if you and I
said that, we'd be fired for.
Speaker 3 (25:37):
Oh, we'd be if they came on here.
Speaker 5 (25:40):
And my big take was that Tua had spent too
much time in the tattoo parlor and he needs to
get and watch game tape.
Speaker 3 (25:46):
Oh my goodness, Oh my geez.
Speaker 5 (25:49):
I would be I'd get a call from the boss's
office probably, and so i'd be going to your office.
Speaker 3 (25:55):
Right, absolutely, I'd have to call you in. You can
question two all you want. Right, He's still got a
lot to prove. He's got to stay healthy through an
entire season.
Speaker 5 (26:04):
He's got to do a good job of, you know,
obviously continuing to learn to redefenses and things of that nature.
But I mean to say that he spent too much
time getting tats and to say that he's looking a
little bit tubby, I didn't think that at all whenever
I saw him. I mean, he threw a pick on
his first pass, which I know you were very happy about.
Speaker 4 (26:23):
Oh that killed. I texted you immediately when I saw that.
Speaker 5 (26:26):
But I again, funny, uha, everyone's just gifa and because
apparently that's the most hilarious thing anyone's ever seen. But
I guess I need to go back and work on
my film study because Arnie. I'm not I'm not seeing it.
I don't think it's I don't necessarily think that's fair.
Dolphin fans might be able to, Oh you're a Dolphin fan,
(26:46):
but at stink and Genius wanted plank show.
Speaker 3 (26:49):
I don't see that in Tua. I don't see that.
I don't get that.
Speaker 4 (26:54):
Now, you talk about quarterbacks that have a lot to
prove and a lot of pressure on them. Whatever category
you're owing for to of leads probably leads in both
of those categories. I mean, how many years now this
is your number five or something. I mean, my goodness, man,
he better start putting up now. And he can't get
hurt either. And he's got to put up big numbers.
(27:15):
And they got people around them. That's why that was
to my next subject. I'm dying to go ahead and
get Jonathan Taylor. I'm willing to give up a number
one pick.
Speaker 3 (27:25):
That's really me.
Speaker 4 (27:26):
Oh yeah, oh please please, You're gonna miss out on
fifty percent of number one picks anyway. Oh yeah, you
want my number one pick, maybe I'll ship it to you.
If I have to put in the fax machine, it's
a done deal if I If I gotta go in
and look, I don't want to pay him the money
like he's probably going to demand, so we'll have to
figure something out. But you can have the number one pick.
(27:48):
I could care less. If I'm gonna go and keep
a number one pick, I'll take Jonathan Taylor.
Speaker 5 (27:52):
So you're basically going with the Rams bleep them picks
mindset right?
Speaker 4 (27:58):
Yes, yes, absolutely, matter of fact that that's that's my thing.
I'm all for the Rams thing. If you're going to
tell me now that the Dolphins could win a Super
Bowl this year but will be bad for the next
three to five years and then have to you know,
and as we slowly rebuild, I'm all for that. Give
me a super Bowl now and then we're bad for
three to five years. I will take that. Matter of fact,
(28:20):
ninety percent of our listeners would take that with their
fan base, to be honest with you, So Cowboy fans
would take that, right now. Bill's fans would take that.
Speaker 3 (28:28):
Find bad though, to find bad.
Speaker 4 (28:31):
Bad like like, you know what what the Cowboys have
been every year five last year, but all those years
that when they were like five hundred or lower with
Jason Garrett, they were like that for like eight or
nine straight years.
Speaker 5 (28:45):
I mean, I'm a fan of a team that barely
gets to five Let's say, let's say a sub five hundred,
let's say like eight and nine or seven and ten
for the next five years, and then you pop back up.
Speaker 4 (28:57):
And make a run it at it again. I'll do that.
And you know what, Like I said, so will Bills fans,
So will Cowboy fans, so with Dolphin fans out there.
So what a lot of Jet fans would if I
told you Jet fans right now you could win the
Super Bowl with Aaron Rodgers, but you go back to
your crappy ways for your for the next five years.
They'll say, where do I sign up right now?
Speaker 3 (29:19):
Where do I know?
Speaker 5 (29:20):
And so, okay, we've done this in college. Would you
say the same thing in college? You would take a
national championship to maybe end up on probation or or
be out.
Speaker 8 (29:31):
Of the three to four years. Yeah, please for you
in Arizona. Yeah absolutely. I that's not even a tough question.
I'm I'm saying yes before you could even get it
out of your mouth. And like I said, a lot
of our listeners would do the same, especially in the NFL.
Speaker 4 (29:47):
There's just there's so much uncertainty from year to year.
You know, I hear people say what does it take
to win a Super Bowl? Well, yeah, takes talent, takes
the right coaching staff. But more important, the number one
thing is staying healthy. And how many teams are lucky
enough to stay healthy? You better be lucky, even good
and that that's what that's all about there, Chris So.
Speaker 5 (30:06):
But again, you know Miami doesn't have its third or
fourth round pick next year, right, so you're willing to
say that you'd give up your first round pick in
twenty twenty four?
Speaker 4 (30:17):
Take it, it's all You'll.
Speaker 3 (30:18):
Have a second, sixth, and seventh round pick.
Speaker 4 (30:21):
Have I explained to you what I'm getting in return?
Speaker 3 (30:23):
Maybe you're getting Jonathan Taylor.
Speaker 5 (30:25):
Oh so you knew that? Basically a rental. I'm thinking
unless you're going to sign him to a long term deal.
And I don't think you can just give up a
first They're gonna want more.
Speaker 4 (30:34):
Well, they can't have more. They can't have more than that.
You know what's so funny as you erth say doesn't
want to pay his running back top running back money, right,
but he wants top running back value when it comes
to a trade, right, oh, now, now give me the
best I need to, like a couple of number ones
or something like that. But no, no, no, I'm not
going to pay you because you're just a running back.
Speaker 3 (30:55):
I like.
Speaker 4 (30:56):
I like the way that works, you.
Speaker 3 (30:57):
Know I do.
Speaker 5 (30:58):
I think that's a very interesting point. Now, apparently you
can remove one team. So if you feel like you're
in competition for Jonathan Taylor right now, Jerry Jones is
not interested. He basically said that they like the running
backs that they have right now. Clarence Hale of the
Fort Worth Star Telegram I guess, asked around the Jonathan
(31:20):
Taylor question. Jerry Jones said, I look at every opportunity,
but the way our young backs are playing, I'm very
comfortable where we are with our backs right now. I
feel good about a running back position if we didn't
add anybody. So looks like it looks like you could
at least remove them for now.
Speaker 4 (31:38):
No, you can't. Matter of fact, I have Vegas put
out the sportsbook put out the team's most likely to
trade for the Jonathan Taylor. The Dolphins were the favorite
at plus two fifty, so two and a half to one.
Then you want to take who's the second favorite to
go ahead and get them.
Speaker 3 (31:54):
Well, let me guess, would it still be the Cowboys?
Speaker 4 (31:56):
No, No, the Cowboys are actually fifth on that list. Okay,
tied for fourth, the Eagles, Chicago Bears, the Bears, who
are saying, we're all in. We have a quarterback that
we're you know, gonna have a you know that we
have locked up and don't have to pay him big
money for another couple of years. We get ourselves a
(32:16):
premium running back in this situation. So their second the
third are the Ravens at seven to one.
Speaker 3 (32:24):
That'd be a fit.
Speaker 4 (32:26):
That would scare me.
Speaker 3 (32:27):
That'd be a good fit.
Speaker 4 (32:28):
That would scare the heck out of me. If Lamar
Jackson had Jonathan Taylor to give the ball to with
some of the receivers he has, that would all of
a sudden be a scary team all of a sudden.
The AFC, the Broncos, and the Cowboys are plus seven
to fifties, so seven and a half to one. They
are the fourth favorites to go ahead and get Jonathan Taylor.
Speaker 3 (32:50):
That's interesting.
Speaker 5 (32:51):
That's interesting the Bears because earlier today another one of
the aggregation sites are aggregation Twitter feeds, which, by the way,
NFL News aggregation is completely out of control.
Speaker 3 (33:04):
Elon do something. This is insane.
Speaker 5 (33:07):
But there was a story that was making the rounds
that the Bears were willing to go all in for
Chris Jones and that they would be willing to basically
meet Kansas City's price to go get Chris Jones because
the same thing you brought up with Jonathan Taylor, and
they don't. I mean, Khalil Herbert had a great year
last year, the former Kansas and I think what Boston
(33:28):
College running back, and they went and they signed Yata Foreman.
They drafted Rosehawn Johnson out of Texas. So they got
three good backs, but none of them of Jonathan Taylor's
kind of ILK. They're not even close to Taylor to
Chris Jones ILK with anything they have on their defensive
line right now. So that would be a fascinating move.
(33:49):
But I don't think Kansas City can trade them money.
I think they need to do what they can to
keep them around.
Speaker 4 (33:53):
I agree, I don't think. I think this is just
a bunch of talk. I could be wrong, but I'm
curious to see how that plays out. But they can't
get both Cavy, they can't get Taylor and Jones, can
they I.
Speaker 3 (34:04):
Gotta remember the Bears.
Speaker 5 (34:06):
The Bears have a lot of draft capital, right and
they they made that move with the Carolina Panthers, so
they have two first round picks in twenty twenty four.
Speaker 3 (34:15):
In addition to that, I think I think they.
Speaker 5 (34:20):
Also have the Eagles fourth round pick, so they have gosh, one, two, three.
They have five picks in the first four rounds, so
they might be in a position where they have a
little bit of capital where they can make a move
going forward. Oh and by the way, they also have
two second round picks next year because they got the
Panthers second round pick. So I don't know how it
would work salary cap wise, and it would be wild
(34:43):
to see the Bears swing for the fences like that,
but it would take a lot to get both of
those dudes.
Speaker 2 (34:48):

Tire rack dot com. You're in me the way.
Speaker 5 (35:47):
Tire buying should be busy night tonight. As you just
heard from Brian Finley, a lot of Major League Baseball
going on. Dodgers blew it. They lost to the Guardian
somehow eight to three. We are seeing something pretty incredible
that's going on with Seattle right now. I was not
even aware of this, Arnie. Yeah, well, not that Seattle
has a baseball team. I was very much aware of that.
(36:07):
But the Seattle Mariners have multiple eight game winning streaks
within a season. Yes, for the first time since two
thousand and one. They won one hundred and sixteen games
that year, which was tied for the most in Major
League Baseball history.
Speaker 4 (36:23):
But didn't win the World Series.
Speaker 3 (36:25):
No, no, didn't even make the World Series. And how
about this.
Speaker 5 (36:29):
The Yankees, even though they bring up their top two prospects,
have now lost nine straight games for the first time
since Arnie had a mullet and a pony tail September
of nineteen eighty two. Every franchise besides the Yankees had
at least one nine game losing streak during that stretch
(36:52):
entering tonight.
Speaker 3 (36:54):
And the Yankees hatn't So what is going on?
Speaker 4 (36:58):
I mean, I've got I gave you as that the
Mets and Yankees have never finished in the last place
in the same year, and they're pretty close to doing that.
Now that's just pretty.
Speaker 3 (37:08):
That's not pretty.
Speaker 5 (37:09):
So there's the baseball side of things. A few games
currently in progress. We'll be keeping tabs on them as
the night progresses, you know.
Speaker 4 (37:17):
Just to bring up baseball real quick. I hate to
grab the steering wheel from you.
Speaker 3 (37:21):
No, you don't, You're you're fine with it, It's okay.
Speaker 4 (37:24):
I'm just wondering.
Speaker 3 (37:25):
You know, by the.
Speaker 5 (37:26):
Way, the definite under was hitting that it took two
minutes and forty seconds before are.
Speaker 4 (37:31):
You were talking? Maybe grabbed the wheel for a second,
just drive, just d It's it's like I, you know,
messing with the radio and I changed from your favorite
song or something like that. You heard where the White
Sox possibly could go to the Nashville And not that
I want to talk about that because nobody really cares,
but I was thinking about it.
Speaker 3 (37:52):
Why are you bringing it up?
Speaker 4 (37:53):
I'm just wondering, how do you think attendants would go
upcause the Dodgers just crushing the attendance. What would happen
if the Angels moved out of Los Angeles or if
the White Sox did move. Does that mean that attendance
for the Cub games would were like double or something
like that. I mean, think about how many people more
people would go to a Dodger game. I guess if
the Angels were' around. I'm just wondering what happens when
(38:13):
the White Sox if they do leave, what that does
for the Cubs?
Speaker 3 (38:17):
Okay, so I have a question.
Speaker 5 (38:19):
All I hear and having spent I don't say a
lot of time, but quite a bit of time in
my favorite city, Los Angeles. I don't really hear a
lot of people that would be going to Dodgers games
if they didn't go to Angels games, because all I
hear is that the Angels don't play in Los Angeles,
So right, I know.
Speaker 4 (38:37):
But maybe if you want to see baseball, you know,
some people just want to see teams that coming from,
you know, in other states on their en.
Speaker 3 (38:44):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (38:45):
Dodgers crush it. There's nobody even close to them when
it comes to attendance. I'm wondering if they didn't have
any competition, if I consider the Angels competition.
Speaker 3 (38:53):
I don't think that's competition.
Speaker 5 (38:54):
I don't know what it would do for Cubs attendance
or Dodgers attendance if either one of those teams ever up.
Speaker 3 (39:00):
Is there talk of the Angels leaving.
Speaker 4 (39:02):
That talking to me? The White Sox is why I
was thinking about it. I don't know if that's gonna
You know what, if I'm in the White Sox, I'd
consider it, depending on the deal I would get. Nashville
is the new hot city. You know, so that's why
you grabbed the wheel. Yeah I did. I'm sorry, take
it back.
Speaker 3 (39:15):
Go ahead, all right, Well let's get to some football here,
shall we.
Speaker 4 (39:18):
My bad, I'm sorry.
Speaker 3 (39:19):
I got a lot of football stuff here. I have
a question. But before we get the question, let me
let me pay off a whole show tease.
Speaker 4 (39:26):
Sure.
Speaker 5 (39:27):
Today, Todd Bowles named Baker Mayfield the starting quarterback for
the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and he explained the why behind it.
Speaker 7 (39:37):
We go through many camp, training camp and OTAs and
we love everything Kyle is done, and he's gotten leaps
and bounds better he has in the spring, and he's
continuing to get better and we're excited about him. Oh,
Baker's our guy right now, experience wise and understanding the
playbook just a little bit better.
Speaker 3 (39:54):
Yeah, And he kind of backed that up. He understands
things you.
Speaker 7 (39:57):
Can throw it. He's very smart. He understands football very
well and read defenses. He's very good for the scheme
we're using as his kyll. I'm not denying that either.
But Baker is a guy we're going with right now,
and we're comfortable with that.
Speaker 3 (40:09):
Boy. They really couched a lot of that.
Speaker 5 (40:12):
It was the only real quarterback battle I think between
two dudes Tennessee has a question just I think you
and Jason did a show together a couple of weeks ago,
and I thought Jason Martin put, well, oh, Jason.
Speaker 4 (40:24):
Martin, I'm sorry, go ahead, Yeah, what I thought you've
been Jason Smith.
Speaker 3 (40:28):
Jason Martin, No, no, Jason Martin.
Speaker 5 (40:31):
You guys did a show together a couple of weeks
ago on a Saturday night, and you had brought up
if there's a battle in Tennessee, and I thought Jason
brought up a good point, and it was you know,
Ryan Tannehill is their starter, but that doesn't mean he's
going to be their start of the whole season.
Speaker 4 (40:44):
Yeah, maybe four weeks, I think, is what he said.
I remember him saying that.
Speaker 3 (40:46):
And you look at this situation right here.
Speaker 5 (40:49):
Baker is the starter, but with the way that Todd
Bowles talked, and that's an offensive minded coach, so you know,
he's not usually a guy that's going to care too
much about a quarterback's feelers, really careful to couch about
everything with Kyle Trask. So and let's be fair, as
much as I'm a complete and unabashed Baker Homer, and
I feel like he's gonna be fine. Thanks getting in
(41:11):
well for him in Carolina even though he won the
job there, But things went a little better for him
with the Rams. So I'm intrigued by Tampa. They still
have some dudes. I don't I don't think they're necessarily
a super Bowl team or a NFC championship team, but
that division is wide open, and I'm just I'm intrigued.
Speaker 3 (41:31):
What a group of quarterbacks in that division? Right?
Speaker 5 (41:34):
What a group of quarterbacks in that division? Baker Mayfield
is starting for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. You have the
number one pick in the draft, and everyone's freaking out
about Bryce Young, Desmond Ritter, a second year guy, would
Ridder go fourth round the year before, and then Derek Carr,
whom the Raiders, according to Peter King, lost confidence in.
(41:56):
That is like the land of misfit toys.
Speaker 4 (42:00):
This is the last go round for Baker Mayfield. I've
read that story about him, MOUSI what was it like
twelve million dollars.
Speaker 5 (42:07):
To what his father's Yeah, there's like a bunch of
family members that are mentioned in this lawsuit.
Speaker 4 (42:12):
That is that is just so sad. I feel bad
for him. Yeah, you know. I like Baker. Also, he's
out lived up to expectations. I'm not gonna say it's
all his fault though, I mean some of those situations
were not the best situations. Obviously, in Cleveland that was
a big debacle, and he was still able to go
and make the playoffs with him, so I look at
that as a plus situation. I'm kind of curious to
(42:34):
what he's gonna do with Tampa if he's the quarterback
half the quarterback I think he is. Maybe maybe he
continues his career and he has a pretty good year
for them. We'll see.
Speaker 5 (42:42):
I like Baker because he's he's got a great personality.
For some reason, he's a lightning rod for criticism. I mean,
that's fine, but I think that's gonna be a fun
team to follow this year. Which gets me to a
very important question here, Arnie. I'm trying to put together
a list of teams that I can considered to be
super Bowl or bust. Okay, now I have six that
(43:08):
are currently on this list, and I don't really have
a defining quality except to say these are teams that
if they don't play in the super Bowl or they
don't make the super Bowl.
Speaker 3 (43:19):
It is a disappointing season, all right.
Speaker 5 (43:22):
So here's my And it's wild because there's a part
of me I didn't put the Patriots in this, but
you know they're fans, you know, but you know their
fans feel that way.
Speaker 3 (43:31):
It's like, we just went to super Bowl. We should
be fine.
Speaker 4 (43:34):
For your fans are just as delusional, but they're not
going to the super Bowl either.
Speaker 5 (43:38):
Well, you have picked the Dolphins to go to the
super Bowl every year on the show, So I don't
think you should call any fan base delusional.
Speaker 3 (43:45):
But that's just me.
Speaker 5 (43:47):
So I've got six that I came up with right now,
and I and I only had two from the NFC.
I had San Francisco and I had Philadelphia, Okay, because
I do think if Dallas, you know, makes the playoffs
and wins a playoff game or potentially gets to the
NFC Championship game, right, I feel like that's high five.
(44:08):
We did incredible things. Kansas City. To me, Kansas City
is always going to be super Bowl or bus. But
with that said, I don't necessarily think that it's a
disappointment if they don't win it because they won it so.
Speaker 4 (44:23):
Much, right, So yeah, that's a K one, right.
Speaker 3 (44:26):
So I was a little bit torn on that.
Speaker 4 (44:28):
Just for my year. This is like, if if they
don't win it, it's not a successful year.
Speaker 3 (44:34):
That's what I said.
Speaker 5 (44:35):
Super Bowl or bus right, Buffalo Bills are built for it.
And then I was torn because the New York Jets
are definitely on that list, or at least they've been
crammed down our throat to the point that they should
be on that list. And I had two teams that
I was debating with myself over I put Baltimore on
(44:55):
that list.
Speaker 3 (44:55):
Gotta put Baltimore on that. I would have put that, Okay,
well then that was my six. But I was thinking
about Baltimore and Miami. Is Miami with the way you talk,
they are, but it is Miami truly in like a
super Bowl or bust mode because I don't think they are.
Speaker 4 (45:11):
Of course they are. I mean right now, I think
they're right up there to win that division. I think
most people have them making the playoffs. And if you
look at how many teams or actually favored to go
to the Super Bowl out of the AFC, you'll have
the Chiefs and the Bills and the Bengals. Can you
believe that the Jets are favored over the Dolphins.
Speaker 3 (45:32):
The Chargers are favored over the Dolphins.
Speaker 4 (45:34):
That's a joke.
Speaker 5 (45:35):
I may have Chins are favored over the Dolphins. The
Ravens are favored over there.
Speaker 4 (45:38):
No, actally, they're all the same price there, at least
I'm looking at it.
Speaker 5 (45:43):
I think I've got it right in front of me too.
I've got the Vegas Insider dot com. Is that what
you're looking at?
Speaker 4 (45:48):
Yeah, That's what I'm looking at. So I think that's
one of the best bargains in sports, is taking the Dolphins.
I think it was at twenty one to one. I
think they have a better chance of going then let's
say the Ravens or the Jets. That's for sure. The
Jets are getting a lot of New York crazy money
with the whole Aaron Rodgers situation. That's the reason they're
(46:09):
getting it.
Speaker 5 (46:10):
The best number for the Dolphins is plus twenty five hundred,
which is exactly the same as the Chargers. The Ravens best.
The Raven's best number are twenty one hundred. Sorry, it's
more consistent at twenty five hundred, which is the same
number as the Chargers. Uh, so you have the Ravens,
Jets in just the AFC, Bengals, Bills, and Chiefs that
(46:31):
all are at better numbers than Miami is right now.
So but you're saying you're gonna be disappointed, and you're
gonna say it's a bust of a year. Fire everyone,
and we suck if they don't go to the super Bowl.
Speaker 4 (46:47):
Gotta go to the super Bowl.
Speaker 3 (46:48):
This is the zero.
Speaker 4 (46:48):
They're built for it. They got all the weapons they
got to keep too a healthy. Especially if they go
ahead and trade for a running back like Jonathan Taylor,
then you know they're all in. And then it's all
liter I mean, my goodness. If they go ahead and
give up a first round pick for Jonathan Taylor, you
know they're not messing around and they think they could
win the Super Bowl.
Speaker 3 (47:06):
I just don't know what they can trade for him.
I don't know what you have.
Speaker 4 (47:09):
I'll just give more bogus picks.
Speaker 3 (47:10):
I don't care bogus picks.
Speaker 5 (47:13):
And then when the draft comes around, you're gonna complain
that you're not able to draft anyone. Would you add
anyone to that list? Would you add I don't know that.
Would you add the Chargers to that?
Speaker 4 (47:23):
If I'm gonna do boom or bust. It's gonna be
Bill's fans. They think they can win it. Obviously they should.
It's the Dolphin fans also, even though the Jet fans
think they're gonna win it, that's delusional. So I would
stop too.
Speaker 5 (47:34):
Between you, it's more delusional what you're saying about the
no no believe.
Speaker 4 (47:38):
That's why I'm hired. I'm the football expert here. I
think Baltimore is realistic they could go, and so Cincinnati.
So there's four right there out of those two divisions.
Out of the AFC South. None of those teams should
expect to go because they're all garbage, so you can
forget about that. And the only team out of the
AFC West is is Kansas City. So you got five
(47:59):
teams out of the AFC. But I give more teams
out of the NFC credit than you do. I think
you gotta get Philadelphia in Dallas. Any team that wins
twelve games the last couple of years, you got to
give him a little bit more credit.
Speaker 3 (48:11):
Maybe.
Speaker 4 (48:11):
Look, I'm not saying it's gonna be a bust if
the Giants don't win it. Maybe expecting you a little
bit more Minnesota won thirteen games last year. You gotta
start giving them a chance to go boom or bust,
especially after what they did last year. And the same
goes with San Francisco. So I'd probably take four teams
out of the NFC.
Speaker 5 (48:30):
What do you mean, I'm still having a hard time
figuring out two teams, and not even Super Bowl or bust.
But if there's a team that needs to be added
to that list or taken away, like the Dolphins, hit
us up on Twitter, it's sneaking Genius one or at
Plank Show, or of course at Fox Sports Radio. I
have no idea, and it's two NFC teams. I have
(48:51):
no idea how Jordan Love is gonna work out in
Green Bay. It's exciting to see what.
Speaker 3 (48:55):
He's done on the preseason. He looks good in the preseason, but.
Speaker 5 (49:02):
It's not the regular season, and it's a whole different
world when you get into the grind of a regular season.
Speaker 4 (49:08):
So it's a preseason pro bowler.
Speaker 3 (49:09):
Green Bay intrigues me.
Speaker 5 (49:11):
And then I don't even know where the Rams are
right now because it's Stafford healthy. We haven't seen him
in the preseason. He's one of I think eight quarterbacks
that we haven't seen in the preseason. The Rams are
back in a situation where they control they're twenty twenty
four first round draft pick, so they have a first
round pickback. Some think that they might be in that
(49:33):
tank conversation, but then you look around and I mean
they've invested a lot of money and resources, not just offensively,
but especially defensively with Aaron Donald. I don't I can't
fathom that team not being better this year.
Speaker 4 (49:48):
Fantas Yeah, yeah, because they're gonna start off one in nine.
It is a it's a horrible, horrible beginning for this team.
They are not going to do maybe two in eight
if they're lucky. It's gonna be another five and twelve season.
They're lucky to get the Cardinals twice and it wasn't
for them. I don't know how many games are gonna win.
It's just gonna be a bad year. Look at the games.
(50:09):
Look could they start at Seattle, which is a loss
San Francisco loss. I don't know if that Seattle would
be a loss, at Cincinnati, a loss at the coatal loss,
Philip dulpho horible Philadelphia is a loss. Thank goodness, they
have the Cardinals after that, that's the only game that
you could give them. I could see them at that
point like one in five or one in six or
(50:30):
whatever it is.
Speaker 5 (50:31):
I think they beat Indianapolis. I think that they beat Seattle,
and they I think they Arizona. They're a three and
three team heading in a week seven against Pittsburgh.
Speaker 4 (50:39):
And then they got Pittsburgh at Dallas at Green Bay,
forget about it. They're in trouble. I don't know trouble.
Speaker 5 (50:47):
I think that they might have something up their sleeve,
and that's either completely imploding and tanking. Yeah, I'm making
a little bit of a run one stand with Matt Stafford.
Speaker 4 (50:59):
Yeah, they're gonna be looking for a quarterback once he
certainly retires, and it certainly looks sooner then later. I
don't know if Stinson Bennett's the answer there, though I am.
Speaker 3 (51:07):
I can answer that he is not the answer.
Speaker 4 (51:09):
Oh you said that about Jalen Hurts. I'm intrigued by
Bennett to be you're intrigued by Bennett. Okay, well go
watch him play in that second hand Pro Bowler, preseason
Pro Bowler.
Speaker 3 (51:18):
That's who Stet's in. Bennett.
Speaker 4 (51:20):
Yeah, did he have a good game?
Speaker 5 (51:21):
Dude, your Pro Bowl level is really gipping right now.
I think you need to reevaluate it. I I disagree
with you. I think the Rams are gonna be good.
I think they're gonna be good. Cooper Cup is back.
You had man Jefferson, Well, everybody can't be good in
that division. San Francisco, Seattle, the Rams.
Speaker 3 (51:37):
Well, we know Arizona's not going to be.
Speaker 4 (51:39):
Yes that they're gonna be bad for the three of them.
Speaker 5 (51:41):
So you so you have them, They're not gonna be good.
I don't know how good Seattle is. That was they
were left by Geno Smith, Kenny Kenny Kenny catch lightning
in a bottle again. They just lost their first round pick,
their wide receiver who got injured.
Speaker 3 (51:53):
So I don't know.
Speaker 5 (51:55):
The Rams and the Packers really have me flummixed. As
you can tell, I don't know what to make of
either one of it.
Speaker 2 (52:01):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven

(52:34):
best fread Mike Carmon. They'll be back tomorrow night, of course,
to finish out the week. By the way, blank, I
think it looks like I will take off one Sunday
in December to go to Costa Rica. How about that?
My friend, there's posinos there, really yep. And it's free too,
(52:55):
free hotel, free travel, free food, and free booze. How
about that?
Speaker 3 (52:59):
You pull that off?
Speaker 4 (53:01):
My wife made President's Club, so they congratulations. Yeah, they
take her and her spouse, or she could take her
sister and we're gonna go from Saturday to Friday. And
it's a real swanky, real expensive, like four star, five
star resort too.
Speaker 5 (53:18):
Look at you, look at you? Well, congratulations? How could
we never get benefit? Well, I guess we kind of
do get benefits like that. In radio, we get to
go cover sports.
Speaker 4 (53:27):
Good Morning guys and Dan Patrick are in Dublin. They're
in Ireland. For the for the Notre Dame game.
Speaker 5 (53:34):
Well, that's ridiculous. I mean, no, I'm just kidding. Notre
Dame and Navy's a big deal. I didn't realize that
Navy basically are Notre Dame credits Navy with keeping its
football program alive.
Speaker 3 (53:49):
Did you know that?
Speaker 4 (53:49):
No, I did not know that.
Speaker 5 (53:50):
Yeah, basically, Navy had made it possible for Notre Dame
to have a team. Now we're going We're not going
back to anytime soon. We're going back to like World
War two days. But yeah, so that's why Navy and
Notre Dame play every year. That's pretty cool. Do you
get this since Arnie Spanier that we are trying to
expand college football more overseas or because we've done this
(54:14):
I think four or five years in a row with
the game in Ireland, Is it trying to do more
like the NBA or excuse me, the NFL and playing
more games in Germany and England or no, you just
feel like these might be a couple one or two offs.
Speaker 4 (54:26):
No, I think we're tried that we're getting more and
more games outside the United States, so obviously you want
to try to go at globally. NBA obviously what they're
trying to do over in China, and you know, as
you said, the NBA, what they're doing in London, in
Germany and stuff like that. So yeah, I believe have
you not never been any place crazy with all your
(54:47):
travels of doing play by play?
Speaker 5 (54:49):
Yeah, I've been to Stillwater. It's a crazy player there
you go. Come, I love Stillwater. I would probably say
the craziest. No, I've just been a cool I mean
honest cool places I've been to, you know, the Rose Bowl.
We've covered games in Atlanta, Mercedespin Stadium. We I've never
been in a pro football state. Well, I guess Miami
(55:10):
for where the Orange Bowl is, but yeah, I mean
we just there hasn't been anything overseas or anything too
gimmicky with these overseas games or neutral site games. So yeah,
it's uh, I'm intrigued to see if it continues to grow.
You know, in the eighties, when you know Arnie likes
to have most of his references.
Speaker 4 (55:29):
When you took what t w A or pan am
and you got to smoke inside the airplane.
Speaker 5 (55:33):
House, most seats right there, and no one could say
anything to you about it.
Speaker 4 (55:37):
It was nice and wide too.
Speaker 5 (55:39):
They seats, but they used to play a game every
year in Japan. Nebraska played a game there Oklahoma State.
In fact, Barry Sanders got his Heisman trophy while he
was playing in the Tokyo Bowl.
Speaker 4 (55:51):
Oh, I didn't know that.
Speaker 5 (55:52):
Yeah, So I don't know what our path is for
college football. I feel like we're just fine keeping it
in the States. Don't know if you have to grow
it that much. But I do find it interesting that
it's been consistent now over the last decade that we've
been seeing games played overseas.
Speaker 3 (56:06):
And it is expensive.
Speaker 5 (56:08):
So first of all, kudos to the Dan Patrick Show
for floating that bill. But for a football team, Army Arnie,
you're basically taking your entire weight room. You're basically taying
you're taking your entire practice facility. You're taking everything there
for one game. So that's that's a lot. That's a lot.
Speaker 4 (56:27):
And we got Jonas there, we got LeVar there, Brady
Quinn is there, but heye had to do TV anyway.
How much fun is that gonna be for those guys.
I don't think they're gonna play golf for anything, but
you know, there's usually not enough time though, get stuck.
Speaker 5 (56:41):
You're covering a game. We went and played golf. You're
covering a game. Cover the game. Do work, don't go
play golf. What are you doing right now? You got
a job to do. What God, Hey, we're gonna go
down there a little bit early to play golf. No,
you're calling play by play of a game. Call the
freaking game. Learn more about the team.
Speaker 4 (57:04):
God, look at you yelling at the clouds like that?
What's wrong with well?
Speaker 5 (57:09):
You know, I just to have certain standards, aren't he
that I need for whenever we're covering checks notes, Notre
Dame and Navy with this kind of firepower, and it's
a twenty three point spread. So you guys are all
gonna be down there for ou Texas whenever you have
a good game. We sending everyone out to like the
Alabama matchup against A and M this year, Notre Dame Navy.
Speaker 4 (57:30):
Oh but by the way, now that you're just run
up Texas real quick. Colin Coward said on a show
that you expect arch manning in by game four.
Speaker 3 (57:42):
That's awesome.
Speaker 4 (57:43):
I'm just telling you what he said.
Speaker 5 (57:46):
I was gonna, Hey, you know what, I can go
ahead here on what is today's date, August.
Speaker 3 (57:53):
Well, we're past midnight now, right, Yes, you're right, you're
right right, So August twenty third, where Colin was wrong.
Arch Manning. I don't know how to tell you, guys this.
Speaker 5 (58:03):
Arch Manning's not even the second best quarterback on Texas,
so go ahead and put him in early. But quinn
ewers Is is number one, number one right now, and
quinn ews is being talked about in a higher level
of greatness than arch Manning is. But there's a dude
(58:23):
and his name is Malik Murphy, and I hope that
they go to arch Manning before him, because Malik Murphy
Arnie is an absolute stud. Everything you could ever want
in a quarterback, Malik Murphy has it. If his name
was Malik Manning, everyone would be losing their minds right now.
(58:45):
He's six ' five, he's two thirty eight, he can throw,
he can run. As a Sooner fan, I have nightmares
about him. I hope they put arch Manning in ahead
of him.
Speaker 4 (58:56):
All right, I gotta ask you a question now. And
by the way, if you want to get into the show,
Flank Schowantz, think of Genius one. Was it fake news
or not fake news? About Stefan Diggs. Did he want out?
He doesn't want out? He was mad earlier, He wasn't
mad earlier. I know he was mad earlier for like
months ago. I'm I'm still not sure what the hell
that was all about. What's going on here? Is he mad?
(59:18):
Is he went out or not? Though?
Speaker 5 (59:19):
Well, I know this is gonna shock a lot of people,
aren't he But here's the issue with Stefan Diggs. He
is a receiver in most receivers or divas, and in
this instance, he has taken it to another level. I
don't think I think he's overly competitive, which you dig,
but I also think he kind of likes playing the
game a bit.
Speaker 3 (59:40):
He came out in responding to us Stephen A. Smith.
It said the brother wants out?
Speaker 5 (59:46):
I think was the way in which he phrased it,
and is Stefan Diggs says one hundred percent not true.
I don't know who the source is, but I thought
I nipped this s in the bud already. So I
think we're gonna see him do the same things he
did last year. Right, There'll be a few sideline blow ups,
but we're also getting.
Speaker 3 (01:00:06):
A lot of mixed signals.
Speaker 5 (01:00:08):
We still go back to that opening week of OTAs
and what happened in the opening week of OTAs. Are
you concerned about Stefan Diggs not being here? What Sean
McDermott say, Yeah, I'm concerned about it. And then he
backtracked literally what like hours later. So something weird is
going on there. I haven't quite figured it out.
Speaker 3 (01:00:26):
Right, but he's getting paid a lot of money. Oh
you're geting with one out right.
Speaker 4 (01:00:29):
You you lose him. That's one hundred and eight receptions.
All you got left is what Dave Davis After that,
You're in big, big trouble for talent or for wide receiver.
I just Tigett, what is he mad about. I'm not
sure he's If he's mad, he had like the second
most targets in the NFL last year.
Speaker 5 (01:00:49):
I believe he's making twenty four million dollars a year.
I mean, I just I don't really know, and I
know it's not all about money, but they're good. I mean,
I'm sure that the bills will probably have to go
to him here soon and try to renegotiate. He's got
a potential out of Corny to spotrack in twenty twenty five.
But I mean, how could this be a money thing
(01:01:12):
with him? I don't understand that right, the deal that
he has. Maybe it is he doesn't like the direction
of the team. I don't know, but I don't know
many places you're gonna go that are in a better
position to win right now than Buffalo.
Speaker 3 (01:01:26):
You know what's to fuh alling?
Speaker 4 (01:01:27):
If I was gonna pick one team that is like
one of the favorites to be you know how we
go from worse to first. Yeah, if I was gonna
pick a team to go from first down to worst,
it might be the Buffalo Bills might be a prime
candidate for maybe falling off the edge there.
Speaker 5 (01:01:43):
What do you think I I'm not disagreeing with that.
I think that's a good take because we saw how
it ended for them last year, right, and maybe maybe
going back we're talking about those moments wherever thing changed
for teams, Maybe that might be one of those moments
(01:02:04):
for Buffalo. I mean, Arnie, everything was set up where
Buffalo was supposed to win. It was snowing, it was nasty,
and the Bengals bullied them, clappered him, clappered him.
Speaker 3 (01:02:15):
So I hope it's not a lasting thing.
Speaker 5 (01:02:18):
I think the Bills are fun, but that division got
a lot tougher this oftener.
Speaker 4 (01:02:22):
I think they're toed overrated anyway. Look, I like James Cook,
but is he really a guy that's gonna carry the load.
If Stefan Diggs is unhappy? What are you gonna do
about the passing game? And Josh Allen's a really good quarterback,
but let's be honest, there's other young quarterbacks should probably
rather have. He's a good one than Josh Allen. Yeah,
like you know, I'm not gonna say too, but if
(01:02:46):
you want to go ahead to have Herbert or you know,
obviously Mahomes or.
Speaker 3 (01:02:52):
Yes, but that's two of them. He's in the top
five in the game.
Speaker 4 (01:02:56):
Right now, Burrows, Right, he's top five. Yeah, absolutely tough.
Speaker 3 (01:03:03):
But there's thirty two teams. What could be much better
than a top five quarterback?
Speaker 4 (01:03:08):
I would put him in number five, But you know,
you know what, if two has a big season this year,
I would put two ahead of him. Also, up two
had big numbers before he got hurt with the concussion
last year.
Speaker 3 (01:03:18):
Big numbers or wins more important to you? With two.
Speaker 4 (01:03:22):
Fantasy No, he was number one across the board in
offensive numbers.
Speaker 3 (01:03:27):
Okay, great, how did they finish the season with him
on the bench?
Speaker 4 (01:03:30):
Well, what do you I can't do anything about him
getting hurt.
Speaker 3 (01:03:32):
You know that's right? And what's your what's your best ability?
Speaker 4 (01:03:35):
You're what did you predict for the Dolphins this year?
What is your prediction on them?
Speaker 3 (01:03:39):
Two and fifteen?
Speaker 4 (01:03:41):
No, it is not stop it.
Speaker 3 (01:03:42):
Yeah, I think they're going to be terrible. I think
two is gonna you.
Speaker 4 (01:03:45):
Wish you're you're hoping that two and fifteen.
Speaker 3 (01:03:47):
I know that two and fifteen.
Speaker 5 (01:03:49):
Two is gonna get hurt, and uh, they're gonna have
Tyreek Hill is going to become a malcontent. They're gonna
have to rely on Jalen Waddle and he'll hurt his
foot again. You'll be in Ames where it's gonna be
like sixty three because you'll have a good defense thanks
to Vig Fangio, even though coordinators don't matter. I mean,
that's tough schedule. I don't I don't know any that's
a division. I think the Patriots are infinitely better. I mean,
(01:04:12):
you're gonna lose to the char lose to the Patriots.
Speaker 4 (01:04:15):
So tell her to give me your predicta before somebody says, Oh,
I'm playing two and somebody. You're gonna take you seriously
and then I'm being serious two and fifteen.
Speaker 5 (01:04:22):
Yeah, I think you might be Denver, you might be Carolina.
You gotta go to Washington. We're gonna quit my job
if they have two wins. Yeah, I just you're gonna
be oing to maybe Denver. But now there's a little
extra spice in the Denver matchup. Uh So, I don't know, man,
I got them twelve and five, twelve and five, twelve
and five.
Speaker 3 (01:04:43):
Two and fifteen. Talking about Caleb Williams.
Speaker 5 (01:04:45):
See, once you get to the point where you're like,
let's see here, oh and two, I'll give you one
in one, two, one of four, one and one and five.
Once you get to the point where you're like two
and nine and the Raiders beat you, then you can
start thinking about Caleb a little bit. Now that'll be ex.
Speaker 4 (01:05:00):
Oh, yeah, that'd be very exciting. There you go, there
you go. No, it's not gonna happen. I think everybody
knows that. My friend I see about a twelve win
year for the Dophins, maybe even thirteen. This is this
is that's why they're trying to get Jonathan Taylor. That's
why they're the favorite to get Jonathan Taylor, is they
know that they can go to the Super Bowl if
they pick up that one big running You can.
Speaker 5 (01:05:20):
Ask me a question about those odds that are made
for who's getting who? Yeah, do they actually have someone
who's talking to teams and gathering true inside intel? Are
in gathering those numbers? Are they just basically reading all
the different reports that are out there, because I haven't
seen Schefter or Ian Rappaport or Mike Aarrafolo or any
(01:05:41):
of the guys talk about teams.
Speaker 3 (01:05:43):
That are in the mix. No, good question, Jonathan Taylor.
Speaker 4 (01:05:46):
Those numbers are based on money, so they can get
bets on. It's from the sports book, So what they
you know, like when they put odds or lines down,
you're trying to get money on both teams equally, so
you could hit it in the middle and you can
win both sides out there. This is the shorts book
that are putting odds out to go ahead and get
money to come on in. But they don't want to
(01:06:06):
get buried, you know what I mean. They don't want
to go ahead and put out like a thirty to
one when there might be a chance that he actually
goes there or something to light.
Speaker 5 (01:06:13):
To that effect, But I don't how much do they
actually have that's wagered on bets like that.
Speaker 4 (01:06:21):
When Tom Brady a couple of years ago about where
he was going to go, there were a couple of
dudes that really cleaned up and bet Tampa Bay at
forty to one. I believe it was okay and made
a fortune. They were. I have to look back up
the story, but they were. I think they got a
bit forty to one. That's what Tampa Bay wasn't in
the mix. And they they must have had some inside
information because they really cleaned up on that one. Chris.
Speaker 5 (01:06:43):
Yeah, So if you have an inside information like I
don't understand, if you think six of the divisions are
already over, why you wouldn't parlay that bad boy together?
Speaker 4 (01:06:52):
Oh I wish I'm Tom totally. I think there is.
By the way, where do you think Taylor's gonna end
up going? Then if you don't think it's gonna be
my m I think it's.
Speaker 3 (01:06:59):
Gonna be cold. I think he's gonna end up back
in Indy.
Speaker 5 (01:07:02):
I mean, they're not gonna you brought up an excellent
point earlier. Arnie, you brought up an outstanding point earlier.
You said, it's funny how they don't want to pay him,
but then they won't take anything but a first round
pick for him. Right, make it make sense to me? How, Oh,
we don't want to pay him anything, but we also,
you know, we don't want to end up having to
(01:07:22):
get anything but a first round pick.
Speaker 4 (01:07:24):
It would have been the same thing if they would
have Giants would have traded Sakwhi Barkley. We don't want
to give him the big money, but oh, but if
you want him, you're gonna have to pay a kigs ran.
Speaker 5 (01:07:31):
The guy just doesn't make any sense at all, and
it never will to me. But I think he's gonna
end up back of the Colts. I think Josh Jacobs
is gonna end up with the Raiders. But did you
see how cryptic key was today? Everyone's like, oh, Josh Jacobs,
I hear sources that things are working, and then I
think Jesine Anderson reported it. Victayfrew, who covers the Raiders,
(01:07:52):
comes out and says, well, I this has always been
my opinion that he's gonna play, And then the aggregation
sites got a hold of it, and Josh Jacobs replied
to one of those tweets and was like, I didn't
say any of that, or I said that question mark,
and then he quickly took it down. So I don't
know what's going on there. That's that's still a mess.
I would if I was the Dolphins, I'd call the Raiders.
(01:08:13):
I don't think i'd worry about Jonathan Taylor. I'd call
the Raiders. Josh, I don't know.
Speaker 4 (01:08:18):
Why the Raiders haven't treated him anyway, considering I would
think that they'd want to start thinking about thanking for
Caleb Williams unless they think they're going to make a
playoff run, which is laughable. I don't see how that's
going to, you know, best, maybe a five D.
Speaker 3 (01:08:34):
I'm not disagreeing with you right now.
Speaker 5 (01:08:36):
But they also, you know, you're starting to get some
of that buzz where some people have watched the preseason
games and they're like, hey, this team might be okay,
Like been here, been down this road before. I'm not
going to get sucked in by your u by your
hope that you're trying to give me. So yeah, if
I was the Dolphins or if I was a team
that still wanted a running back. I'd be all over
(01:08:59):
the Raiders right now trying to get Josh Jacob
