Tirerac dot com. I hope you get there an unmatched.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
Election, fast free shipping, free road has a protection over
ten thousand recommended installers. Tirack dot Com is the way
tire buying should be. Jason Quessen, Yeah, what do you got,
tyser gud? So is it scarier to know that tonight
is all Hallows Eve, or that the Jets literally can't
even score a touchdown when they can. Well, isn't tonight
the night of the Dead, right than the Jets? Jets

(01:26):
night of the Dead night because tomorrow's Day of the Dead.

Speaker 4 (01:28):
This is night of the Dead. Okay, this is the Jets.

Speaker 5 (01:31):
M Yeah, I know it is dark as before the dawn.
I should have Well, sometimes it's dark for a long
long time. Well, right, look a long long time. I
liter winters are long. I watch it like if you
go to like Norway and Sweden, those are like twenty
hour nights.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
Man, I watch Three Body Problem. There's some worlds in
three Body Problem that you know, Hey, oh, it's been
dark for two millennia. That sometimes again, it just stays
dark for a couple thousand years. But if something goes right,
it feels as if only a day. So I should
have taken tonight off. I should have said I went
off on Halloween home. Well, when no announce she hangs

(02:09):
out with their friends and everything else, It's like, okay,
so working on Halloween is not that candy at kids
with Benny. Oh, I could have I should have. I
should have stayed home and given out candy. Eating the candy.

Speaker 5 (02:19):
I said, you gotta stay in the drop zone and
you got to test your arm over the course of
the night to see if you can complete you know,
the forward pat it's not.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
It's not because the game is out of reach. It's
not because it's twenty four nothing. No, no, no, no, no.

Speaker 4 (02:34):
Simpler than that halftime Thursday Night football.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
Get to start the third quarter, Texans lead the Jets
seven nothing. It is if boy, okay, I'm just gonna
say this. I always say there's plays certain times and
Jets games and people go, oh my god, oh my god, unbelievable, unbelievable,
that Jets thing. And I said, come come on, man,

(02:58):
you think you think that Jets play would be in
the top hundred of worst Jets plays.

Speaker 4 (03:01):
Of all time?

Speaker 1 (03:02):
Third point forty five years I've been come on, man,
I know, no, no, no. The Malachi Corley play in
the first half easily jumps into the top ten worst
Jets plays of all time.

Speaker 4 (03:14):
It is.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
It is inexcusable. We're gonna play it for you in
a couple of seconds. But look, the Jets could have
had a seven to nothing lead in this game. They
ran a fake to Breecee Hall and a reverse to
Malachai Corley.

Speaker 4 (03:25):
Third round.

Speaker 6 (03:26):
It really was.

Speaker 4 (03:28):
He was in his bag and everybody did their part.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
Great play, almost reverse to Malachi Corley who runs into
the end zone untouched for a touchdown to seven to
nothing Jets lead. And look, the Jets were the better
team in the first quarter. They were playing better than
Houston was. They were dominating the trenches. This was a
different kind of game. I'm like, okay, hey, they're playing well.

Speaker 4 (03:48):
They swarming right getting after CJ. Stroud.

Speaker 5 (03:52):
I mean they looked resplendent in those black helmets. Yeah,
can't wear them again after tonight.

Speaker 1 (03:58):
But instead of a seven to nothing lead, Malachai Corley
going into the end zone untouched, No, no, no, it's
a turnover because Malachai Corley pulls the great Oh as
I'm going to cross the goal line, I'm gonna drop
the ball, which I don't underlook before we get into
the jetsness of this, because there's a big jetsus of
this is like you can say he's a rookie, but

(04:20):
this is just inexcuseable. This is this is a play
that should get you cut. And I don't care if
they took him in the third round.

Speaker 5 (04:25):
Well heard the same same comment from Mike Mayok on
the radio, telling wait, we've radio gast.

Speaker 1 (04:33):
We've heard We've seen this play happen enough. There's been
enough times we've seen it in college football where a
guy is run and I'm gonna drop the football as
I go over the goal line, and they drop it
too early and they lose a touchdown, a team loses
a game. This is not a new phenomenon. This is
not something we've never seen. You know enough not to
do that, not to do that right. And as you said,

(04:53):
Mike Mayock, who does a really good job analyzing games
on Thursday night, h Mike Mayock says, Hey, what what
a to big play by Malachi Corley. They needed to
get him on the field, but he needed to button
down his practice habits. He needed to get him understand
what it's like to get on the field and really
understand how how to be an NFL player. Now he
is looking at making plays, except that touchdown didn't happen,

(05:18):
and because he dropped it before the goal line and
then it went through the end zone, it was a touchback.
So instead of seven to nothing, Jets, the Texans got
the ball, they drive down and score a touchdown, and
the Jets look like they're just waiting for the game
to end. I mean, really that that's how fast it happens.
It starts out like so many games where and this
is the Jets in a nutshell. Hey, they start out great,

(05:38):
they have a lot of energy, they look like the
better team. But then a couple of bad penalties, had
a bad roughing, the kicker penalty, had a couple of
other penalties. You have the Malachai Corley play, a couple
of guys getting dinged up, missed some plays, and suddenly
it's we're done. We allow the Texans to go ninety
eight yards for a touchdown, and we look like we're
just waiting for the game to end.

Speaker 4 (05:56):
We're waiting for Christmas. We're done.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
Now, the season's over. It's done for us. At Christmas
is coming, We're finished. We're gonna be two and seven
and it's over. I mean, that's that's so many games
I've seen go that way for the Jets so many times.
But I watched this Malachi Corley play, and I go,
come on, man, I mean you can sit here and say, hey,
all right, coaching needs to be on top of things.

Speaker 4 (06:15):
But that's just something that you gotta know, man, you
gotta know me, you gotta know.

Speaker 5 (06:19):
Let's let's hear the rookie in his moment of would
be greatness.

Speaker 7 (06:25):
I've seen that guy sob after losses during games.

Speaker 4 (06:28):
I've seen him SOB who knew he was so tortured
and they just kept losing.

Speaker 6 (06:32):
And they kept eating at him and eating at.

Speaker 2 (06:33):
Him, and he just he couldn't take any more disappointment.

Speaker 4 (06:37):
Oh my god, Jets killed Carl. Get a little bit
of the.

Speaker 1 (06:42):
Mix, Poor Carl. That's what happens to Carl. It's funny
because it's true. But look, but here's the play by
play of Malachi Corley and the touchdown that wasn't That
could not only stand for the Jets season, but maybe
the last twenty years.

Speaker 4 (06:55):
Tom more than an Indianapo.

Speaker 5 (07:00):
Longs chances gets hit. The ball is loose and it's alive.
It's off the top rope right there. Sorry, I played
Jets fumble wrong one. Yeah, Tysher right now has like seventeen.
I have Jets embarrassment. I have Jets embarrassing play. I
don't know which one it is. I have like twenty
seven of them on my array in front of that.
Just it it's one, two three, Like Frances, it would
count it out.

Speaker 4 (07:22):
Which one's next?

Speaker 1 (07:23):
So again, now here's the play, here's the call, a
touchdown and typical Jets fashion.

Speaker 4 (07:29):
Nope, it's not a touchdown. Oh that's gonna get at
the twenty thirty. He's cutting back inside forty at New
York for county.

Speaker 5 (07:40):
Five twenty on my right. Five.

Speaker 4 (07:45):
All right, I think it's it. I think that's it now. Yeah,
I think we're the best of. I think so. I
think I think.

Speaker 1 (07:51):
I think we had the butt fumble, we had the
fail Mary, we had the Jets killed Carl.

Speaker 4 (07:57):
I think that's it. And I think now we're going
to get the Malecai Corley play. Really think that's it.

Speaker 7 (08:01):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (08:01):
We haven't heard from LeBlanc yet as a torture Jets fan.
Really think that's it. Yeah, I think that's it. This
list is longer than a CBS receipt. This is well.

Speaker 5 (08:13):
We were just kind of thinking the best of, so like,
if you're putting on an album, what would all be
on the A list?

Speaker 1 (08:17):
Well, the Jets don't have best of. It's worst of.
You know, they don't have worst of, they have acceptable plays.
Here's here's a Jets acceptable highlighters, Brese Hall. He got
one and a half? All right, So now maybe we
get the Malachai Corley play. Maybe let's see, maybe we
get AJ Dewey's touchdown from the eighty two to a.
How about the ship game? I gotta explain to millennials

(08:38):
who Aj Dewey is. Let's see if now we get
the Malachai Corley.

Speaker 4 (08:41):
Gets a snap.

Speaker 7 (08:42):
See there's rushing four Rogers throws over the middle of
the field, and there's your interception.

Speaker 4 (08:47):
It is picked off, Craig Wilfley.

Speaker 5 (08:48):
Do you called that it is ticked off by Beattie Bishop,
who is having a terrific game for the Steeler.

Speaker 4 (08:55):
How about water and Kaye Pepper work out?

Speaker 5 (08:58):
Apparently not? Apparently he's be banned in New York? Now
ice watering? Is that why he's been so erratic tonight?
And not getting a bunch of drops? By the way,
Just to be fair, as much as I want to
bash the performance and Aaron Rodgers, everybody's gonna go box
score reading if they haven't watched this.

Speaker 4 (09:15):
Jets killed Carl.

Speaker 5 (09:18):
DeVante Adams with the sure sure, I mean a great
throw for Rogers.

Speaker 4 (09:22):
Oh yeah, he drops twice. Yeah yeah, no, Look, that's
how the Jets work.

Speaker 1 (09:27):
Bresee Hall sure playing first play bound back off? Yeah no,
I did fourth and twenty one. Noe, We're gonna rough
the kicker. Instead of getting the ball at thirty, we
give the ball back to the Texas. This is what
it is, is how the Jets operate.

Speaker 5 (09:39):
And you're starting to even out the time of possession
though it was twenty to ten in the first half.

Speaker 1 (09:42):
This is how the Jets operate. I can't believe it's
seven nothing. I really, I can't believe it's seven to nothing. Well,
Texans have done their share of bad I'll.

Speaker 4 (09:51):
Tell you man.

Speaker 5 (09:52):
Maybe.

Speaker 4 (09:52):
Now, what do you think we get the Malachi Corley
playing we had? We had the Steelers. You're gonna hear
Betty and the Jets.

Speaker 1 (09:58):
Oh wait, wait, wait, wait wait, if it's still in
the system, I think we have the Vikings pick six
from London. All right, let's see Malachi Corley. Let's hear
the touchdown that wasn't shirt.

Speaker 7 (10:10):
Line from fifty to get the Jets to leave fifty
one seconds to go. The kick is on the way,
It's got plenty of distance, and it is no good.

Speaker 4 (10:19):
It floated right. Heartbreak for the Jets.

Speaker 5 (10:23):
Did someone plant a foot in his groidal regency?

Speaker 1 (10:27):
You know, how do we still have I don't think
we even have the final call of the Dodgers winning
the World.

Speaker 5 (10:33):
Series still in the system. But no, no, we got
all these Jets plays from the last twelve years going on. Jason,
here's an interception from week four of twenty thirteen. We're
gonna play. We don't even have the Dodgers winning the
World Series in the system. That may or may not happen. Now, well,
I will tell you this, that's how you score a touchdown.

(10:53):
Before we get to Malachai Corley, the Jets have tied
the game against the Tech, yet Garrett Willson with an
incredible catch and run into the goal down. He didn't
let go of that football.

Speaker 1 (11:07):
He made sure to throw that football down after he
crossed the goal line. It is an incredible throw by
Rogers and a great catch by Garrett Wilson, who carried
this football in one hand. I'm watching it again. He
carries it all the way into the back of the
end zone and it is a touchdown for the New
York Jets. Extra point coming here that could tie the

(11:28):
game at seven, and the extra point through through the
game is tied at seven apiece.

Speaker 4 (11:36):
So I told you not yet you were going to
tied the games.

Speaker 1 (11:41):
I don't know what, dud. Jets are a tough watch.
We never make it easy. But so now, hey, the
Jets have tied the game. Now they would be winning
fourteen to seven. You don't know that except well, I'm
pretty sure if you hold on to the football for
another step.

Speaker 5 (11:53):
Yeah, but that game changes in that moment, this play,
we go into an alternate universe.

Speaker 4 (11:59):
Do you not know this?

Speaker 1 (12:00):
Think we got the mell Mitch Lane would have been
a touchdown from Blacky Gord.

Speaker 7 (12:06):
Malacot Corley as he got into the end zone dropped
the football.

Speaker 4 (12:12):
That's it. That's it. Wait, that's it. We didn't actually
get the play. What do you know? Did we not
get the play?

Speaker 1 (12:19):
We got a forty five second call of a play
from six years ago from tonight. We got like six
seconds and lucky you got that Malachi Corley dropped the ball.

Speaker 4 (12:28):
I mean you need to say, oh wait, I have
a lot of questions. Now, what the hell the extended version.
All he had to yeah, go ahead.

Speaker 7 (12:38):
Wait, oh no, Malac Corley, as he got into the
end zone dropped the football and they are going to
make sure that he didn't.

Speaker 4 (12:47):
Drop the ball before he broke the plane.

Speaker 7 (12:50):
Malaco Corley, it turns out makes a rookie mistake. He
dropped the ball before he broke the plane at the
end zone celebrating his touchdown. The ball was loose and
went through the back of the end zone, and because
the ball was live, it becomes a touchback. It's a turnover,
and now Houston has the ball at their own twenty
yard line, so this game stays scoreless.

Speaker 4 (13:11):
Suit Oh my god.

Speaker 1 (13:14):
Jel heavy Halloween Jets football.

Speaker 4 (13:17):
I want the Halloween I wanted to hear them.

Speaker 1 (13:22):
I mean really, the Mike Math call of him saying
all the stuff you had to overcome, good practice habits,
get on the field with the Jets.

Speaker 4 (13:28):
What a great moment for No. No, I let the
ball go before I crossed the goal.

Speaker 5 (13:32):
Line, because could you we erased? And what I just
said that Jets football. That could really stay okay, I
think I'm beat a little too. That could stand for
the last decade of Jets football. Yeah, I mean, going
back forty years, as long as we have the butt fumble.

Speaker 1 (13:46):
But you want to go back to the last decade
of Jets football, which has been no playoff appearances, that
play could stand for it.

Speaker 4 (13:52):
Yeah, I mean, because you had a lot of an aptitude.

Speaker 5 (13:54):
You had terrible quarterback play and just terrible play overall.

Speaker 4 (13:59):
But did you have any singular moments like that? No? No, No,
that's a great it's a great moment right there. That's
a great one.

Speaker 5 (14:05):
I can't wait to go back and find the actual
play by play. Jets gonna Jet Exit? How about a

you as we have for all these years, and love
continuing to do so. Ten to seven from MetLife Stadium,

(15:53):
fair Baron with a fifty four yard field goal, the
Jets sack Stroud on third and long. Doesn't matter he
is able to to connect from fifty four yards out,
so with four to eleven to go in the third quarter,
Texans lead the Jets by the score of ten to seven.
Now have a big retirement story coming up in a
few minutes. But I have a thing. I have a Halloween.
I have a thing here on Halloween. And I don't

(16:13):
know why, but it's just I don't know if it's
just a thing this year or not. But you know,
every year Halloween you get the what's the best Halloween candy? Storyline?
Right rank them, and then you get the candy corn?
Is candy corn really good as candy? I'm like, you know, okay,
my goodness. You know it's We've been having these conversations
now for fifty years.

Speaker 4 (16:34):
It's not new. But what is new this year.

Speaker 1 (16:36):
What I've seen this year is that a lot of
parents are talking about the candy tax.

Speaker 4 (16:42):
That they have in their kids.

Speaker 1 (16:44):
Yeah, when the kids come home with candy, the candy
tax is for you know, giving them you know whatever
it is, you know. Yeah, the tax that parents take
is Hey, if there's a piece of candy or cup
piece of candy, I really like I'm taking them from
the thing.

Speaker 4 (16:58):
Right.

Speaker 1 (16:58):
But it's new because because it's all about Reese's Peanut
butter cups. Because like in a bunch of different uh
voting your crazy click happy uh polls today, Oh, Recai's
Peanut butter Cup is always the gold standard of of
of candy on HOLLOWEO. Look and I love read peanut
butter cup. And I said, but that's been the thing.
And I see there's been a big push today people.
Oh yes, I always take rest peanut butter cups. My

(17:20):
kids got to reach peanut butter cup.

Speaker 4 (17:21):
I take it. It's the candy tax and all of this.
And I see that, you know, I see this, and
I just go.

Speaker 1 (17:26):
You know, you can get a Reese's Peanut butter cup
any day of the year.

Speaker 5 (17:34):
You can also go to a place where you can
get me your own any time.

Speaker 4 (17:38):
You want to.

Speaker 1 (17:40):
Probably there's a place within a mile of your house
where you can get a Recis peanut butter cup and
not a small kids zaca. You can get the big ones.
You can even get the double big ones. Right, it's
double peanut butter cup. Any day you want to, you
can go and get a Recis peanut butter cup. But no, no, no,
I'm gonna steal candy from my kid and call it
the candy text.

Speaker 4 (18:00):
I would to say yes as peanut butter cup shows up.

Speaker 1 (18:02):
Like, you can get candy anytime you want to, anytime, anywhere, anyway,
candy from anywhere.

Speaker 4 (18:06):
Anytime you go into a grocery store.

Speaker 1 (18:08):
You are literally an adult in a candy store because
there's all kinds of things to get you get. But
now suddenly it's all I take the guy, take the
reach from my kid. What if your kid wants the recess,
He's the one he or she is the one that's
going trick or trading. You really can take take the
candy from you can go buy it for a dollar
forty nine. Next time you're you can leave. Yeah, don't
say I'll be back in twenty minutes. I'm gonna go
buy candy from the store, because this car I want

(18:29):
me to take yours.

Speaker 4 (18:30):
I'm not gonna do it well in this case.

Speaker 5 (18:32):
What I would say then is you decide what did
I pay into your costume for the year, and then
I deduct it in receas.

Speaker 4 (18:40):
How about that? Then it's a fair trade. No, it's not.

Speaker 5 (18:42):
You got something, You get something, you're raised that and
in the end, no yours, it's free. Dude, dude, you're
raising a kid.

Speaker 4 (18:50):
You you chose to raise.

Speaker 1 (18:51):
This kid didn't have any desire, he didn't have a key,
or she didn't have any thoughts saying no, I want
to be bored and I want to go to these guys. No, no, no,
you want to be lunatics and say, hey, whatever I
get for you, I'm taking back some in trades as
you get older.

Speaker 4 (19:02):
I mean, it's candy. Let the kid have the candy.
Let the kid you can go get some candy. What
are you saying, Wait till the kid goes to sleep,
what you need?

Speaker 1 (19:11):
No, wait until it's things like hey need to get
up on the roof because we're gonna clean the gutters today.
Why because your too be are gonna help me clean
the gutters? Okay, now I'm gonna take something. I'm gonna
take candy.

Speaker 5 (19:22):
That's the whole trigger treating thing is nonsense. I like
the Caitlin Clark story. She was telling, why don't you
like tricky? You don't like tricker treating?

Speaker 4 (19:29):
I was never a fan. Well wow, what hurt you? Man?
How do you not like treating? Because you're going to
be begging like treating.

Speaker 5 (19:38):
But as I'm saying, the can't Clark, the Caitlin Clark
thing made sense. She was telling the story of how
in Des Moines, if you go up to a door
you gotta tell a joke. Yeah, but you say you
get candy. Yeah, but you gotta do something. As a boat,
you're just saying, hey, I'm gonna dee be your house jerk,
you know, unless you give me a bag of candy.

Speaker 1 (19:55):
Wow, Okay, Mike Harmon, anti Halloween, anti trigger treating. I
I didn't think you'd have that kind of take. I
didn't think you were full of that much hate. I
didn't think Emperor Emperor, Emperor Palpa Harman surprises that you
were worth that trick or treating.

Speaker 4 (20:09):
I never liked trick or treat. You never like trick
or treating. Really, you never liked it.

Speaker 1 (20:12):
You never like going to get candy, going out with
your friends, dressing up as Darth Vader or whatever. Jerry Ryansdorf,
I don't know what you did in Chicago growing up.

Speaker 4 (20:18):
Yeah, well no, I.

Speaker 5 (20:19):
Wore a suit and refused to pay when someone said
I want some candy, I sat on the stairs.

Speaker 4 (20:26):
I was the guy dishing out the candy. You know what,
you gave.

Speaker 1 (20:28):
Nothing, You're performing suck. Who are you two? We're the Jerry's.
I'm Rindsdorf from Kraus, That's who we are. Give us candy,
and you know what, give us double the candy because
we need to.

Speaker 4 (20:37):
We have some overhead we gotta take care of. You
know what, We're gonna sign you to a long term deal.

Speaker 5 (20:40):
I'm gonna give you a large candy bar this year,
but the next couple of years you can't come back
for anything. How do you have a Scottie Pippen effect?
How do you not like trick or tree andy? I do
understand that you don't like trick or treating.

Speaker 4 (20:50):
I don't. I don't get it. What about puppies? You
like puppies? How about rainbows?

Speaker 2 (20:54):
Kittens?

Speaker 5 (20:55):
Well, rainbows mean that we just had rain okay, and
we dry around Los Angeles. That means bad things happen. Okay, wow, okay,
expecting maybe some rain this weekend. What do you think happens?

Speaker 4 (21:07):
Then? Bad things?

Speaker 3 (21:08):
Man?

Speaker 1 (21:09):
Who's the Peanuts character that walks and the cloud is
constantly over them?

Speaker 4 (21:12):
And final, is that pig pen? Because that's kind of you.
The cloud just gave that guy a line.

Speaker 5 (21:19):
Where you go, man, I'm I'm the master of happiness
over here.

Speaker 4 (21:23):
Oh you know you just said I don't like trigger treating.
How do you? How do you like tricker treating? Its
a long time ago.

Speaker 1 (21:27):
I don't get how you don't like that now. I
don't like getting candy and hanging out with my friends
and dressing up.

Speaker 4 (21:35):
I know I don't like any of that stuff. What
do you want?

Speaker 1 (21:37):
I'd rather stay home and and and and and and
watch a candle burn That's what I do. Like Shoeless
Joe and eight men out stare at a candle I'll
stare at it.

Speaker 4 (21:47):
One eye, I goes blind.

Speaker 5 (21:48):
Really helped my hit good from a bat and eye? Yeah,
and then sweet gets him to throw the world. Man,
I could have been a pilot. I mean, you hate treating.
I find up stuff. It's all like a ten years
I like the costume was falling dress about you. I
I but it's still I enjoyed the hell out when
my kids.

Speaker 4 (22:07):
Were little and they'd get together. You just said you
didn't like it.

Speaker 5 (22:10):
I just didn't like it for me. You just said, Okay,
there's two there's two different ways. There's one way to
experience it. Ask. I think there's a thing as matter.
I think now you're.

Speaker 4 (22:19):
Trying to hatch.

Speaker 1 (22:20):
I think now you're trying to because you realize that
was a bad take to have about hating trigger treating,
So now you're trying to soft it a little bit.

Speaker 5 (22:26):
No, I wish I'd enjoyed it more as a kid,
and I did not. But why did you not enjoy it?
Why what happened to you? Did something happen never hit
in sound side? Could you put your hand out for Kenny?
Close it on your hands? And they were bad things? Man?

Speaker 4 (22:40):
Wow, Then it got come with a chainsaw to the door.

Speaker 5 (22:44):
We had a bunch of hoodlums, much like those guys
that took the ball out of the glove of Mookie
bleeping Bets the other day, where you know they'd come
speeding down and you'd have stuff getting chunked at you.

Speaker 4 (22:56):
After a while, I was I was done with that. Okay, wow, wow,
all right.

Speaker 1 (23:00):
I really don't think it went quite that way, but okay, okay,
I'm sure.

Speaker 5 (23:04):
I can cite two different instances. Hey did you have fun? Yeah,
I'm covered in eggs.

Speaker 1 (23:09):
I went to that house where no lights on and
there were just crows flying around, and.

Speaker 5 (23:13):
I don't know, well, that was the other phenomenon after
a while was half half.

Speaker 4 (23:17):
My neighborhood was just dark. So like, I know you're
in there.

Speaker 1 (23:20):
And this guy came to do He said his name
was Damien, and I said, oh, that's a pretty cool lame,
and he said, yes, it's an omen all right.

Speaker 4 (23:25):
Can I can I join what you're working on, mister Damien?

Speaker 1 (23:29):
So, uh, while it is happy Halloween for for everybody,
but harmon because apparently everybody celebrations.

Speaker 4 (23:34):
Oh no, no, no, it's a celebration tonight. You got
to get to the bars on Halloween. Can trick or treat?

Speaker 1 (23:39):
Bob Costas has decided to retire from calling baseball games.

Speaker 4 (23:44):
He's retirement. Are you going to shive over this? As
an MLB?

Speaker 1 (23:48):
This is I feel it's a long list of things
that he is, that he has a hell. So Bob
Costas has decided to retire everybody's favorite play by play guy.
And when I say that, of course, I'm doing it
with a wink.

Speaker 4 (24:00):
Here's a sarcasm bucket.

Speaker 1 (24:01):
He hasn't retired from sports, and I can't believe. Look,
I can't believe anybody who does sports that is in
a position like him is going to retire before the
twenty twenty eight Olympics. I'm looking at the twenty twenty
Olympics is where we're gonna see a lot of people
say about after a lot of older people that have
been gone. Look, Bob kast is seventy two. Now you're
gonna see a lot of people. I want to make
it to the Olympics in twenty eight, and that's gonna

(24:22):
be it.

Speaker 4 (24:22):
So he got announcing his retirement.

Speaker 5 (24:24):
Did he give any soliloquies about what he hates about
today's game or the other when he went after the
National Football League? He never taking millions of dollars for years.

Speaker 4 (24:33):
You know what I don't like?

Speaker 1 (24:34):
The producer is really loud in your ear now, louder
than he's ever been before. And it wasn't like that
in the seventies and eighties when I was doing Cardinals
games ball one. I really so he retires. It's still
gonna call games for other sports. He's gonna do other things,
but he's retiring from baseball. His last game was Yankees
Royals in the Alds Game four, and he's you know,

(24:57):
and this is why I feel bad because that was
my first reaction when I saw him retire, because I
feel like he's retiring because he just can't take people
criticizing him on social media. And that criticism goes not
only just to him personally, but I'm sure all the
different networks that employ him. We can't have a guy
out here on the air that on social media they

(25:19):
keep just killing. Overall everybody that that's happened to in
the last few years, they're all gone now. Chris Berman
does nothing at ESPN now why because every time he
would do something, he would.

Speaker 4 (25:29):
Just get killed.

Speaker 1 (25:30):
Berman's do He's awfully's us and then you get people
looking at social media going, oh boy, a lot of
people don't like him. We should move on from there.
The Echo, Chave, Monday Night Football, The Booger, McFarlane, Joe Tessitour,
Steve Leavy Booth.

Speaker 4 (25:41):
Oh, this is aw This's just terrible. So we got
to get raised as awful what happened? Those guys are
all gone.

Speaker 1 (25:46):
Anytime there is complaints on social media about a play
by play person or or a big time personality that
does something like this, right, not not someone who is
a content provider like what we do, but a play
by play person in a studio host. Eventually get to
a point where I'm just done, and it's just an
avalanche of criticism and people places that employ these people

(26:09):
just can't take anymore. We're not gonna I'm not We're
not gonna have a big game on Monday Night football
and the big story not be about what happened on
the field, but about what Booger McFarlane said in the
third quarter, or about what this camera looks like, or
about We're not gonna have an alds Yankee game where
all everybody is talking about instead of a big mic
stand Jim Carlo stanton home run is Bob Costa is

(26:30):
missing a play where he thought of where he thought
a ball was a hit when it wasn't. But that's
what it's gone to. And now I feel bad because
all of these guys that have done a pretty good
job for the past few years. I enjoyed seeing Chris
Berman with his with his crazy ass nicknames, the guy
built ESPN. I enjoyed Bob Costas gets a little too
preachy for you, but you know what, I can always
turn the sound down and what he's saying. I feel

(26:50):
bad for people like that that have have made a
big mark and have done a lot of big things.
But yet because suddenly, for whatever reason, Oh, I don't
like this guy anymore because he's just been around too long.

Speaker 4 (26:59):
But I might tell you it was too long.

Speaker 1 (27:00):
So I'm gonna complain about him on social media and
he's gonna retire because I guarantee you did Bob Costs
really want to retire.

Speaker 4 (27:06):
Probably not.

Speaker 1 (27:07):
I think he liked doing what he was doing and
he's still gonna be the fact that he's still gonna
be actives, still do things telling me that this is
not Hey, I need to take a step back. You see,
you saw the criticism and Bob kay he missed one play, right,
It's not like Bob coss is completely losing his fastball.

Speaker 4 (27:20):
He's still doing.

Speaker 1 (27:21):
Interviews, whether it's for sports or politics, whatever else. It
is he still got it right? This is not where Hey,
I can't see it anymore and I can't do it.
So I look at this and go, this is a
guy that got pushed out because of what said about
him on social media all the time, and he understands that, Hey,
it's not gonna go my way anymore. And the people
who employ me are gonna look at this and eventually go,
we can't have this, and I'm not gonna get fired.

Speaker 4 (27:42):
So I'm gonna walk away while I can. Yeah, where it.

Speaker 5 (27:44):
Gains difficult is you know, I appreciate the history, and
certainly with Berman Costas, all these guys grew up with him,
Booker McFarlane and that crew. They got screwed by the
fact that the production of it got ridiculed nothing that
they said or did or how they broadcast a game.
So they were a victim of circumstance in that regard.
There have been some other attempts at doing things in

(28:07):
the booth that were roundly criticized and abandoned quickly. Sometimes
I thought perhaps maybe maybe a bit too soon with Costas.
You know you mentioned then he's gonna get preachy at me.
I know that, right, It's like if I go to, say,
a Rage against the Machine concert, or I go to
a Pearl Jam concert, or I go you can insert

(28:28):
a number of artists. I know part of it. There's
going to be some politics and general theories on the
meaning of life inserted in between my favorite hits, track
four and five of their biggest album. I get that,
and I sign up for it, and with costas that's
what you've had to sign up for.

Speaker 4 (28:45):
And you're in or you're not.

Speaker 5 (28:47):
And but there's certainly few guys that can tell the
history of these games and have the love of the
game the same. Right, he still carries that same damn
Mickey Mantle baseball card in his wallet some fifty years later. Right,
there's a appreciation for what he does. Do I need
some of the other No, it gets a little much
for me. So but like you said, you tune it out.

(29:07):
Or as I tweeted out to folks complaining about this
football game, you don't like it, don't watch the don't
Kevin durantline, same thing. But I think you're right, right,
the social media echo chamber is dictating a lot of decisions,
even though it only represents a very small fraction of
the number of people consuming these things. But you add

(29:28):
some metrics to it, no matter how bogus they may be,
and they start getting you know, one advertiser becomes three
advertisers becomes a you know, this is untenable for us.

Speaker 4 (29:39):
We need to find a different voice.

Speaker 1 (29:41):
Exit out about a Fresco exit swollen down the Jason
Smith Show with Mike Carmon Live from the Tyraq dot
Com studios. The Jets just went for it. On fourth
and one. They ran a pass play Aaron Rodgers throws incomplete.
It probably should have been intercepted, but it was dropped. However,
there's a flag on the play that they are looking
at right now. However, Rogers is walking off the field,

(30:03):
so it looks like it's gonna wind up being a
Houston penalty. But we'll have more on it in the
second and I bet Steve de Sager is going to
have more on it right now as he tells us
what's trending in the wide world of sports.

Speaker 4 (30:13):
That's the guys.

Speaker 8 (30:13):
This is the play that opens the fourth quarter of
this NFL Classic game we have with the New York
Jets at two and six hosting the Houston Texans at
six and two, by the way, an illegal contact penalty.

Speaker 4 (30:26):
Whoa, whoa? How about that?

Speaker 8 (30:29):
So take that. Jets are on their way to victory tonight.

Speaker 4 (30:32):
Down three at the.

Speaker 5 (30:33):
Moment, Okay, mister, I'm happy because the Dodgers won. Just stop,
just stop, stop stop.

Speaker 8 (30:37):
Do you really think anybody needs an excuse to talk
about the Jets like this? By the way, we haven't
seen kicker Riley Patterson much elevated from the practice.

Speaker 4 (30:48):
That's your point.

Speaker 8 (30:49):
It's far as one. Jets were down seven to nothing
at the half. Jets wide receiver Alan Laizzard was placed
on ir with a chest injury. DeVante Adams has been
targeted ten times tonight, six catches fifty four yards, Garrett
Wilson six catches fifty yards and a TD, Aaron Rodgers
up to one hundred and twenty five yards passing. C. J.

(31:10):
Stroud just one hundred and fifteen yards passing. There are
eleven penalties combined in this one, eight punts combined. Each
team had one fumble in the first half, and of
course that included the Jets fumble what should have been
a touchdown run but celebrating before getting to the goal line.
Fumble turnover no TD the Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson misspractice again.

(31:32):
He's had back in knee problems. Rams wide receiver Pooka
Nakua left practice with a knee injury. The same need
hurt before. Today's problem is not expected to be serious,
according to NFL Network. Seattle wide receiver dk Metcalf mispractice
again with a knee injury. Bengals wide receiver T Higgins
did not practice again quad injury. Hall of Fame coaching
semi finalists include Mike Shanahan, Mike Holmgren, and Tom Kauughlin.

(31:55):
A list of fourteen was cut down to nine. It
also includes Dan Reeves and Chuck Knox and others. This
committee will be meeting again in about three weeks to
select one finalists. Four NBA games tonight, and that includes
another Milwaukee loss. The Bucks are one and four. They
were down at the half at Memphis seventy to forty eight.
Grizzlies won twenty two to ninety nine. The final John

(32:18):
Moran with a triple double. Houston still leads at Dallas
seven and a half minutes to go. It's Rockets ninety
one to eighty two. Spurs at one and three are
leading in the third quarter at Utah seventy to sixty one.
If the Jazz lose, they be oh and five. The
late game about to start Phoenix at the Clippers. Orlando's
Polo ben Cao has a torn oblique. He'll be re

(32:38):
evaluated in four to six weeks. Among the seven NHL games,
Washington a six to three winner over Montreal Carolina and
eight two victory against Boston. And Yes, in this NFL game,
the Jets have the ball down three early fourth quarter.

Speaker 1 (32:53):
Back to you, Thank you, Steve the Jason Smith Show
with my best friend Mike Harmon.

Speaker 4 (32:58):
Yeah, looked like it was a penalty on the Jets.

Speaker 1 (32:59):
Rawa's reversed field walked over to the officials. Maybe he
convinced them to call the uh, well, where is the
legal contact? I was convinced he knew he had a
quote free play. Should that flag have been thrown? Yeah,
we could talk about it. So ten to seven, Texas
with the lead over the Jets on Thursday night football,
Jets facing a third and nine. We'll have more NFL

(33:21):
but coming up next do we have an NBA team
start that we absolutely have to break down and I
mean start to the season, and I mean breakdown, like
the team is breaking down. That's next right here, Jason
and Mike Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (33:36):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.

Speaker 1 (33:44):
A Halloween that Garrett Wilson will never forget. Fox Sports
Radio The Jason Smith Show with Mike Carmon live from
the tire rack dot Com Studios. We have a big
NBA story. We're gonna get to that in a couple
minutes because we have to talk about the play that
just happened in the Texans game against the Jets. The

(34:04):
Jets were facing a third and long after a penalty
put them back outside the red zone, and Aaron Rodgers
lofts up a pass on third and nineteen to Garrett Wilson,
who has one on one coverage, and he comes down
with a catch that is nearly the equal of Odell

(34:26):
Beckham's catch. The look the best catch that any of
us have seen in the past twenty five years. He
is in the back of the end zone and he
breaks contact. He goes up with his right hand, catches
the ball with one hand, comes down, secures it and
gets his shin down before he goes out of bounds

(34:46):
through the back of.

Speaker 4 (34:47):
The end zone.

Speaker 1 (34:48):
It was ruled an incomplete pass on the first look,
and then it was reviewed and it was overturned. It
was a touchdown. You can see on the replay he
gets his shin down, gets the other foot down the
scene almost simultaneously as his arm gets down. But this
is some kind of catch. Look now, I'm gonna see
her in be prison moment say it's the greatest catcher

(35:08):
I've ever seen. It's one of the greatest catches I've
ever seen. I certainly don't remember a Jets player making
a catch like this. Was the Beckham catch? A little
bit more difficulty, Yeah, look, they just even showed it
because it's so much remind you of it. Beckham catches
the ball going further back when the ball disappears behind
his head and he catches the ball, so that degree
of difficulty is is unmatched. But this is every bit

(35:31):
close to it. It is, and he stays in bounds
for a touchdown. I'm telling you, man, for all the
talk about Garrett, we I mean Garrett, He's one of
the top three most talented wide receivers in the game,
and he just doesn't get credit because the Jets think,
but that catch, I mean, that's gonna put him because
that's what happens is that puts players in a new stratosphere.
When you make a catch like that on national television

(35:52):
or nationally streaming television, it is more important than just
here's a great catch a guy made Sunday at one
point thirty, Right, this is a catch. It everybody sees.
Everybody's going to see it the rest of the night
tomorrow and all the Garrett Wilson love that he has
rightfully gotten because the guy is terrific. We've seen so
much body control catches what he's done. This catch is
going to put him in that upper echelon of Hey,

(36:14):
maybe we have to now physically make room for Garrett
Wilson as one of the top three four receivers overall
in the NFL.

Speaker 4 (36:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (36:20):
No, but based on the way the catch rules work,
I mean they should go back and give pickings his touchdowns.
One ha, Well, multiple hops about how many hops are
not equal to a shit? Like we had to know
how many hop cause there there, it's got to be
both feet here, it's just body part. And you know,

(36:41):
I turned to you as they went to challenge. I'm like,
this's going to be a catch.

Speaker 6 (36:44):
Now.

Speaker 5 (36:45):
The defensive back does a terrible job and absolutely miss
times is jump which might have been might have been
an interceptible ball. He's because he's got his eyes back.
He's watching it and he's like he's already in the air.

Speaker 1 (36:57):
It's like, oh, why do I tell you I'd be
the best defensive coach in the world because all I
would do was practice every day.

Speaker 4 (37:02):
Are ball skills?

Speaker 1 (37:03):
Ball skills every single and I don't mean ball skills like, hey,
you're gonna get in the line and we're gonna throw
you ball. No, I mean you're gonna cover receiver, you're
gonna look back for the football. You're gonna make a
play under pressure. That's what's gonna happen. We're gonna do
ball skills every single day. I'd be the best defensive
back coach in the world, in the world if that's
all I would do. That's all I would do, and
all my guys would turn back for the football. They

(37:23):
would make plays every single time would happen.

Speaker 5 (37:26):
No fantastic grab to be on the highlight reels forever.
But you know, he'd been bawling out as badly as
the team at play. Three of the last four weeks,
he'd gone over one hundred yards. He's trending that way
again now up to seventy six yards after that catch.
So yeah, the individual brilliance is there, and force feeding
him the ball probably not a terrible idea one on

(37:47):
one if you can break containment and get enough time
from behind that shoddy offensive line, because that's one of
the things you know to watch. And Houston pressure early,
they've struggled, and perhaps a little bit here down the stretch,
so Aaron Rodgers getting to dance a little bit more
and giving Wilson a chance. I mean, I'm watching that
play and it is just it's just an incredible play

(38:07):
for a guy who I always knew was that good,
and he had this to.

Speaker 4 (38:10):
The tough part to the year this year.

Speaker 1 (38:12):
You'll obviously he's gonna draw everybody's number one cornerback beginning
of the year. First couple of weeks drew right, it was,
But then look where it happens when they said, oh,
let's get him the football early in the game against
the best defense in the NFL, and he had what
twelve catches against the Vikings. So yeah, sometimes a little
bit of it his scheme and making sure a guy
goes But I mean really, a play like that that
he makes puts him into a new stratosphere. He is

(38:34):
now a new level of superstar in the NFL because
of that. He is not He goes from hey, great player,
average fan knows him, but now it's, oh man, this
guy might be the new Odell Like that's kind of
where that's kind of where it goes him. Now what
he does every week, people are going to want to
see Garrett Wilson make any big plays this week?

Speaker 4 (38:52):
Is he done anything great? What does he have?

Speaker 1 (38:54):
That's how people are going to see Garrett Wilson. After
this play, trust me go look at it. It's incredible.
It's incredibly down for catching the end zone. I didn't
think they would overturn it because you know Jets, but
they actually do overturn it and give him the touchdown
his second.

Speaker 4 (39:06):
Of the night.

Speaker 5 (39:07):
Well you have had You know, Odell Beckham Junior has
been playing again. You wouldn't know it because of the box.

Speaker 4 (39:13):
Course. Well, you got to.

Speaker 1 (39:14):
Do something at some point in the seven or eight
years after you make it.

Speaker 4 (39:19):
Yeah, but he is playing again. He's still living off
of one catch. I mean, really, he's living off of
one cat. He worked all right for Clowney.

Speaker 1 (39:27):
Yeah, but that was in college. Well, but it's translated.
It helped him get pick exit out out of Fresca
Exit swollen down. The Jason Smiths Er with Mike carmon
Life and the tirec dot Com Studios.

Speaker 5 (39:40):
Jets up fourteen ten, nine to go in the fourth quarter, Houston,
though driving. They have it inside the Jets twelve yard
line facing a second and seven. We'll have more in
this game coming up next, as well as that big
developing story out of the NBA, something that I don't
think any of us saw coming is absolutely here.

Speaker 4 (39:59):
That's next.

Speaker 5 (39:59):
Ja Mike, you're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Jets ho
Garrett Wilson fleet pass, but after review it is a touchdown.
The Jets take a fourteen to ten lead. Hey, things
are changing. Nope, Texans go down the field, but the
Jets defense stiffens, forcing a field goal on fourth down.

(40:20):
Field goal is good, Okay, Jets lead fourteen thirteen with
about seven minutes left to go.

Speaker 1 (40:24):
Nope, a roughing penalty because the snapper got blown up.
Eric Watts, who is an undrafted free agent, comes in,
makes a fifty three man roster, blows up the snapper,
which you're not allowed to do, and it's a fifteen
yard penalty and a first down for the Texans. Jets
gonna jet right, This is like, okay, this is how

(40:45):
every Jets game I've seen now for the last forty years.

Speaker 4 (40:48):
But the defense holds.

Speaker 5 (40:49):
Yeah, right, Mixon run Mixon run ye incomplete pass.

Speaker 4 (40:54):
Yeah, big thing there the jetsteve Okay.

Speaker 1 (40:56):
So now, so now the Texas go to kick a
field goal and they doint get off the left upright,
No good.

Speaker 4 (41:02):
The Jets jet their way to a three point net.

Speaker 1 (41:07):
And so it's still fourteen to ten with the football
about six and half minutes left to go. That play
is gonna change the Jets fortunes that have been going
awful for forty years. That play right there, the Jets
succeeded despite themselves. That's gonna turn all the whammies that
have gone the Jets, and that's gonna flip things. And
now it's gonna be nothing but sunshine, lollipops and rainbows

(41:27):
and victories, and we're gonna go you know, We're gonna
win the rest of the games. We're gonna run the table,
and we're gonna be eleven and six. We're gonna be
AFC East champions.

Speaker 5 (41:36):
On Monday, we were breaking down Game three of the
World Series and the latest in a long line of
debacles for the Jets. You declared them dead. So, since
it is hollolloween, did you goad again?

Speaker 4 (41:52):
What does Michaelers do? He always rises? Yeah?

Speaker 5 (41:54):
But did you go in? Well, but this is resurrecting
your hope. I don't know what else. It's just you
at this moment. But did you go and promise someone
else's souls? Did you give Zoey's soul away?

Speaker 1 (42:07):
I see, I don't think you can do that because
I told you I made that deal with me. Listen,
here's you know you are in charge of these other souls.

Speaker 4 (42:15):
Wow, that's how he gets you well, that's how he gets.

Speaker 1 (42:18):
You well now, And I'm glad you asked me that
question because I told you I made the deal with
the devil. He gave me the mets to the NLCS.
I can't get you all the way. I'm only I'm
only sood the there was a giant blank spot. Yeah,
I mean, you said, well, he could fill in later.

Speaker 4 (42:31):
I said, really, you can't get them to win the
to win the World Series. I can't. I'm only so powerful.

Speaker 1 (42:35):
But I will get you to point where you actually
outperform the Yankees, who are going to make the World Series.
All right, fine, And then the Devil says, okay, but
now I gotta get even with you other ways.

Speaker 4 (42:47):
And I said, okay, fine, but this is what happens.
You don't make a deal with the.

Speaker 1 (42:49):
Devil norcause what happened generally not a good idea. The
Yankees had to go to the World Series. Syracuse lost
that Thursday night game last week to Pit Awful, awful, awful, awful.
The Jets have lost five games in a roh terrible.
Everything is everything has been terrible. I'm like, wow, the
devil is really getting it revengeed me. But I called
him because I said, hey, I need a double down here.
I need some kind of other thing here. But what

(43:11):
once you bargain your soul, you can't get another soul.
It's not like that ill gotten on your head. He said, Look,
it's not my fault. You made a bad deal. You
should have just bargained part of your soul. I said,
I didn't know I could do that. So right now
I'm in arbitration with the.

Speaker 4 (43:24):
Devil because I didn't know. He didn't reveal there's no
fractional Baltimore.

Speaker 1 (43:31):
You can fat you can bargain part of it. Say
his name though, yeah, he must not be named. Can't
say his name.

Speaker 4 (43:38):
There's actually gonna be a arbitration now. There's a long
line for this.

Speaker 1 (43:41):
What's going to be a few years because a lot
of people know this, and apparently it's a thing with
the devil. He doesn't tell people that. He doesn't tell you.
It's like, hey, wait a minute. There's a lot of
people that bargain all of their soul, and they didn't
have only could bargain part of their soul. So I'm saying, Okay,
I realize I have to be on the hook for
part of my soul, but not all of it, which
means I have more to bargain. So maybe this is
why I'm getting a little bit of life. Right Hey,

(44:02):
Syracuse basketball wins a couple of games. The Knicks start
after they get pounded opening Night and the Celtics make
all those threes. Hey, the Knicks are winning big bodega
had forty four last night. Wait a minute, man, say
maybe think maybe things are turning a little bit.

Speaker 4 (44:15):
Yeah, devil like a drunk deal.

Speaker 5 (44:16):
I got part of my soul back fractionalized and uh,
he needs repeat customers.

Speaker 4 (44:22):
Makes joint with you a bit more.

Speaker 5 (44:24):
So, just so you know, the devil has to ask
you about how much of your soul you want a wager.
He can't just say this is for your soul and
you have to he can.

Speaker 2 (44:34):
You have to tell you.

Speaker 4 (44:37):
It's like when you go to get buy a car.

Speaker 5 (44:38):
I'm sure there's plenty of good lawyers you can find down. Yeah,
dealing like when you go.

Speaker 1 (44:42):
To a car and in the car and the guy said, well,
I'll throw in five percent off sticker.

Speaker 4 (44:47):
You know, but you got to do me a favor
and we're gonna sign it. No, no, you have to
give me that. That says in your paperwork you have
to offer me five percent off sticker.

Speaker 1 (44:53):
Oh you see, like when they try to do that
to you, try to make it sound like they're giving
you something that they have to give you, right exactly,
of course. So just no, you can do that with
the devil. Just understand, he doesn't Okay, well that's good now.
Good to know and when you're you're bartering for your
share of immortality. But there's a reason why I'm telling
this story such because of the Jets. Okay, it's because
in my second meeting with the devil, you know who

(45:15):
I was in the room with. Oh boy, I was
in the room with the biggest Milwaukee Bucks fan. And
he's really mad because he bargained his soul.

Speaker 4 (45:24):
He's big mad right now for a champions I don't.

Speaker 1 (45:27):
Know that he's gotten in to meet the devil yet
to try to say, but he bargained his soul for
that championship, and now the Devil has come back for it.

Speaker 5 (45:35):
Me devil sent him Doc rivers that I mean, last
year Devil game. But you just wait, what are you
gonna get me back for? I live in Milwaukee.

Speaker 4 (45:42):
What are you gonna do? I don't know you're gonna
make the playoffs?

Speaker 6 (45:44):
Wait?

Speaker 4 (45:44):
Do you see what I let petere A Lonzo do
to you guys in Game three? Don't worry about that,
oh man? All right?

Speaker 3 (45:49):
Fine?

Speaker 5 (45:50):
Uh?

Speaker 4 (45:51):
The Milwaukee Bucks lose tonight to the Grizzlies one two
to ninety nine. It was a huge night for John Right.
Murrant had a triple double early in the third quarter.
He goes twenty six, fourteen and ten rebounds. The Grizzlies
thumped the Bucks. Yeah, they got to clear the bench.
I think Broni got some minutes.

Speaker 1 (46:12):
I think yes, I think no, I think actually, other
everybody else who's related to Lebron James got minutes in
good name. An amazing night for him, Not so much
for the Bucks. Damian Lillard four points on one of
twelve shooting. Jannis goes for thirty seven and eleven, so
he has a typically seven in a row. He's seventeen
for twenty two.

Speaker 4 (46:31):
From the floor. But the Bucks have fallen to one
and four. It is their worst start in fourteen years.
And things are not going well. And there's three people
that are gonna bear the brunt of all of this,
and it's gonna be honest, Doc Rivers and Damian Lillard.
And I'll tell you what. In what I've seen from

(46:52):
the Bucks so far this year.

Speaker 5 (46:54):
Damian Liler is still scoring and it but it just
doesn't seem like you know, in the in the that
I've seen of them play, it just doesn't seem like
they seem like they should be on a different page
with each other at this point, and they're still not.
It's still too much of a struggle with the Bucks
at times, so and which is shocking because lou is
still a guy that can score points. Obviously, he was

(47:15):
down off of his career, off off of you know,
thirty points a game. Because now he's sharing the floor
with Giannis, there's not as many shots there, but it
just doesn't seem like it flows as well as it should.

Speaker 4 (47:25):
They struggle to score too much.

Speaker 1 (47:27):
Look, obviously the talent around them is not quite what
it was at the height of their championship three years ago,
because you know, you've lost some guys and guys aren't playing.

Speaker 4 (47:36):
But it's not going well.

Speaker 1 (47:38):
And when you can say, all right, Giannis is still Yannis,
Damian Lillard seems to kind of be Damian Lillard still boy.
He's had a rough night tonight, but still but he's
getting older. What has this team been since Doc Rivers
has taken over? What has this team been since Doc
Rivers has taken over? Because that's what's gonna happen. That's
the domino that's gonna fall because Yiannis has three more

(48:00):
years on his contract before he can opt out. Now,
could he sit out and say I want to trade
on the trade? You could, But I mean, he signed
a three year deal and he the player option doesn't
kick in for him for another three years.

Speaker 4 (48:11):
So he's there.

Speaker 1 (48:12):
He's a Milwaukee Buck now. I know, I'll say, oh,
what if Jannith becomes a fan? That's a long way away.
Nothing's happened with Damian Lillard. They made a big trade
to get him. He's still scoring points. I don't know
how much longer Doc Rivers has because in an Eastern
Conference where everybody got better, and you can see dynamically
how good the Knicks are, how good the Celtics still are. Right,
you don't know how the Sixers are going to be

(48:33):
when Joel Embiid comes back. You know, after all the
investigations and everything else, you've seen some teams in the
East that are now rising. Look, the Magic looked like
they were on their way to being really good, but
now they're oute Paula Boncaro for at least the next
four to six weeks with the oblique injury.

Speaker 5 (48:47):
We found that out tonight. You've seen teams in the
East are rising, and who's the one team. The one
contender you can see that is staying at that same
level and falling. It's Milwaukee.

Speaker 4 (48:56):
I don't know how much longer they stayed with Doc Rivers.
But it's not going to be till Christmas. I mean,
this is not gonna be.

Speaker 1 (49:02):
Hey, after the holidays, we're gonna figure things out. No,
they tried last they tried getting Doc Rivers in and
see how that and things did not go well. And
I don't understand this vision and belief that, oh Doc
Rivers is such a great team wasn't good, right, The
team wasn't good. We saw it, and you see them
with a bad start.

Speaker 6 (49:17):
Now.

Speaker 1 (49:17):
I don't know how long he has. If you put
the over under for me a Christmas Day struggling like this,
I will say it will happen before Christmas Day.

Speaker 6 (49:24):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (49:24):
You go back to the the process last year and
now the question behind the scenes, right, the forcing of
the hands of ownership. You know how much Giannis you know,
made the move for the coaching change, uh, and also
the hey let's go get Dame Lillard and whether he.

Speaker 4 (49:48):
Styles right?

Speaker 5 (49:48):
We talk about styles and playing styles and how much
differently you know Yanni's excels generally, uh, you want to
he wants to run right, you want to get up
and down the court, and Dame not that same level
at this point. And we've gotten to see them in
patches here and certainly head on a swivel with all
the NBA action, but certainly since Doc Rivers took over,

(50:11):
there's something amiss. And yeah, the depths not there from
a couple of years ago, but yeah, that whole off
season here, you've had several years to where.

Speaker 4 (50:20):
This roster is morphed.

Speaker 5 (50:22):
And for Doc Rivers, like we've had many a conversation
about Doc through the years, there's good and then there's
the good to great and we haven't seen that last bit.
Two thousand and eight's a long long time ago in
terms of finishing off great expectations from a lot of
teams that he's coached, and this Milwaukee squad's one of them.

(50:44):
In an Eastern conference where you've got the Celtics, you've
got the Knicks, and now they're starting to be swirled
the rumors of you know, preferred destinations, which you know
you put on the background because as you said, the
contract is there. That makes it kind of difficult to
do a whole lot. Doesn't mean that there isn't a
team that's overpaid a guy or two that wouldn't love
just to get out from underneath contract. But is that

(51:06):
what Milwaukee wants to do? A full blow it up
and reset kind of thing, because that's that's the only
way you're making any.

Speaker 4 (51:12):
Of that match.

Speaker 5 (51:13):
So uh yeah, it's it's a difficult stretch, pretty painful
to watch tonight. The rest of the team shot about
thirty percent not named you, honest.

Speaker 1 (51:23):
It just feels inevitable. When they brought Doc Rivers into
be a spark, there was no spark. Okay, now we've
had an off season, let's clear it out, and this
is how we start. Like I just I just feel
like it's it's almost inevitable, Like we're sliding to that
conclusion and it's gonna be sometime in the next few weeks.
I feel like that's kind of where we're at.

Speaker 4 (51:43):
That's it. You're now in a heat.

Speaker 5 (51:46):
You start getting the heat right because it's week two.
Looking for storylines, can't run off of what was going
on in the offseason, right, Ronnie and Lebron have already
played checkbox. Anthony Davis still putting up big numbers, checkbox,
the Knicks and the Knicks, and there's cap and whatever else.
But this one starts to bubble up a little bit
because the Giannis is still one of those top players

(52:07):
that we chronicle every move, and this was supposed to
be the move to put them in contention with those
aforementioned squads, and right now it's an abject failure.

Speaker 1 (52:16):
Exit out about a Fresco exit swollen dome. The Jason
Smith Show with Mike Carmon, Live from the Ti rack
dot Com Studios. Remember when I told you the Jets
are gonna be too big to fail, Well, boy, tonight
might be that night. Aaron Rodgers has just hit DeVante
Adams on a long touchdown pass, his first touchdown as
a Jet. The Jets now lead the Texans twenty one

(52:37):
to ten with two and a half minutes left to go.
In this game, nothing makes sense. The Jets should not
be winning. They've made incredibly embarrassing plays that will live forever,
and still here they are now protecting an eleven point
lead with a couple minutes left to go against the
six and two Texans.

Speaker 4 (52:53):
It doesn't make it, but I don't care, because look
at this. I got my soul back. I got my
salt back just for a moment. Texans took points off
the board. Bad job by them.

Speaker 5 (53:03):
And now you look at the extension of the lead
and Davante Adams wide open once again.

Speaker 2 (53:10):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 4 (53:21):
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (53:22):
The Jason Smith Show with My best Friend Mike Harmon
lovemty rack dot com Studios.

Speaker 5 (53:29):
The Jets win a game that well, not a lot
of people thought they would, but they do. It looks
like a big night.

Speaker 1 (53:35):
From Aaron Rodgers, a huge night from Garrett Wilson, Davante Adams,
nobody better to break it all down NFL on Fox
Insider Extraordinaiy, Jay Glazer, You're gonna fomb on Twitter at
Jay Glazer.

Speaker 4 (53:47):
Jay, what's happening, Buddy? Happy Halloween?

Speaker 6 (53:49):
Yeah? Man, how you guys doing?

Speaker 4 (53:50):
What's up? Buddy? Well, I'm happy the Jets won. I mean,
come on, of course, I'm happy tonight.

Speaker 6 (53:55):
I have too. I agree with you, man, you know
it's also look, I know you guys talking about Aaron Sadee.
That was scary, and but it's good to see that
defense because that's really I've always thought like the strength
of the team really was more than defense because some
of the guys they have over there, and you know,
between jeff Olbrick when he was able to do it defensively,

(54:16):
and I know they're looking like with Sala and it's
a defensive coach, but Olburoke had a lot to do
with that defense. I'm glad that, you know, he was
able to really kind of put forth the effort. And
I think I think people kind of minimize of Hey,
when a guy is a defense coordinator and all of
a sudden he's a head coach and you kind of
got spread saying a little bit, how much it does

(54:36):
take away from you until you can kind of get
settled down. And I'm glad to see they were able
to kind of get their their barons under them with
that side of the ball, you know.

Speaker 1 (54:43):
And it's funny because I you know, you talked about
Jeff Elbrick last week. I've been telling everybody Jay Glazer
told me he's a Sean McVay. The defensive coaches. Man,
it's gonna be great, and I wanted to throw this
by you watching Garrett Wilson and that catch that he
made tonight. And you know, when you do it on
a nationally televised game, people see you differently. I see
him as a guy that if you got him in
an unbreakable and you got in a session with him,

(55:04):
you wouldn't be able to lay a hand on him.
His body controlled, he would You would just be swinging
at air the entire time.

Speaker 4 (55:10):
With Garrett Wilson.

Speaker 6 (55:12):
Don't be ridiculous. Don't be ridiculous.

Speaker 4 (55:20):
Come come on, Look he's trying to do that.

Speaker 6 (55:25):
I say, what he's trying to do. We we smother
you and unbreakable athletic as you are, we take away
all your athleticism. Man, I'm freaking five to six. I
make sure you got no.

Speaker 5 (55:38):
Hey, you go, We're putting Smith in the in the
chamber with you there, Jay. As we go on the
Houston side of things, right, they take the loss. We
talk about all the sacks from the Jets anything with
the trade and trade deadline coming forward, and they lose
to fon Diggs.

Speaker 4 (55:53):
Any help coming for that squad.

Speaker 6 (55:55):
The problem is there's not a lot of great help
out there and everybody. You know, I've been talking a
lot of teams this week, and so like, man, there's
no like Christian McCaffrey trade this time. There's no Von
Miller trade. There's no you know, Denver the Chub, there's
no God, Jalen Ramsey. Like it's just not there's not
those names, and I ending like why not. They're like,

(56:16):
I don't know, there's not a lot of guys that
are like contracts up. And besides, like Advanta Adams, which
has already happened, there's just not a lot of those
big names that are they're gonna be out there. There's
kind of you know, mid level, low level guys that
aren't going to really provide a lot of juice to
a lot of teams. I know people are going, oh,

(56:36):
Cooper Cup. Listen, the Staelors and somebody else called about
Cooper Cup, that the Rams are not called around trying
to trade Cooper Cup. And suddenly it just took off
like a life of its own, like it was reversed.
But I'm telling you the way it went it was
teams calling them and then trying to act like and
I think what happened is when teams try and call
the team to try and trade for a guy, and

(56:57):
the team doesn't want to do it. They start getting
it out there. Don't us put pressure on that team
to try to make a move. And that's you know,
there's not going to be you know those names.

Speaker 1 (57:08):
Jake Lazer with us, the Jason Smithson with Mike Carmon
lifrom the tire Ac dot Com studios. All right, Jay,
one of the other big stories this week, you know,
we watched the Colts say they're going to Joe Flacco
in perpetuity. He gives him the best chance to win. Obviously,
the Anthony Richardson play on Sunday when he comes out
of the game because he was tired.

Speaker 4 (57:25):
It's been a big point of emphasis.

Speaker 6 (57:27):
What what what?

Speaker 4 (57:27):
What did you see seeing that here's Richardson coming out
of the game because he was tired.

Speaker 6 (57:34):
Okay, I mean, I know the Family Show. I'm going
to try and curb but a little bit. But Jey,
as you know, I mean, I've been on the show
with you guys for twenty years, twenty one years, right,
and you know I started trading football players and fighters
and in a specific way, Unbreakable mindset in two thousand

(57:56):
and seven. Our tire thought process and our entire system was, Madam,
we are going to be relentless in how we train you.
We're gonna make football easy as far as like we're fighting.
We're going to train you and grind you so hard
where your sport is easy. But we're gonna put you
through three full five minute rounds to us and take

(58:18):
one minute break. If you can do that with us,
you damn sure I could do a seven second round
one a one minute break in football. But at the
same time, if we're hurt and tired, you will never ever,
ever ever know. I will never give you that satisfaction
of knowing that I'm hurt or tired. Our fighters are
not allowed to take stools in between rounds. I don't

(58:39):
want you to sit there and see our guys, and
I say fighters, whether it's a Randy Gutur or a
Layton Johnson or an Andrew Whitworth or all these guys,
and never wants them to look across that change, across
that field. Can you throw their hands on our hipshones? Oh,
I'm breaking that guy. Instead, I want them to look
at Elaine Johnson going why does this guy never get tired?
Why is this guy never hurt out to the sea.

(59:01):
Are we tired? Yeah, but I will never let you know.
I have a guy actually come out and say on
a running play, oh, I had to tap out because
I was tired. If that's my teammate, man, like literally,
Randy Gatoua, I started this programm in two thousand and seven.
I'll be yesterday like breaking out in hives over it.

(59:22):
And we were on a text of v him at
Laton dropping about it. But we were melting down because
it's just unacceptable. But it's also if that's one of
my teammates, you better be putting in more work than
everybody else, Like I expect you to put them at work,
especially if you're my leader and your captain. Not acceptable.
So is this a death? Not this? It doesn't have
to be. But if I'm Anthony Richardson, I'm like, man,

(59:43):
it's a teachable moment. I will never let that happen again.
I will never show anybody I'm tired. I will never
show anybody hurt. By the way, with my mental health stuff,
it's complete opposite, Like you need that mentality in a cage,
run a field, But yeah, show people you're hurting and tired.
But it's completely different when you're talking about combat sports.
It's just not acceptable if I'm him, like you're only

(01:00:06):
allowed to be the facility, certain number of hours a
day allowed to be. If I'm him, man, I'm there,
I'm sleeping there, I'm there five o'clock in the morning,
I'm leaving at ten o'clock and I'm gonna show these gusts.
You'll never have to worry about me ever being tired ever,
guess and if meet being tired, he is like one
of my problems. It's a kryptonize for me. I'm gonna
make sure it's not I'm gonna turn it into my
superpower or I'm gonna work the world. It's just not acceptable.

(01:00:29):
So it's yeah, it's yeah, I had a hard time
with that.

Speaker 4 (01:00:33):
Yeah, you just know.

Speaker 5 (01:00:34):
Also, Jay, the other part is it's not like he
was lighting it up. So when you're two of sixteen
and you.

Speaker 6 (01:00:40):
Tap out, he was tired on a handhof right, So
what that says to me is, man, you're not doing it.
So again, like we work at Tom Brady, I'm gonna
talk a lot. I love learning from Tom, and Tom's
like I'm not tattle to anybody else. I'm out working
everybody by a lot in training, recovery, eat, sleeping, eating everything.

(01:01:03):
That's you know what, man, it really sucks, like like
putting that work in. It's hard, but you know it
sucks way more. Is not freaking winning That tucks way more.
Not acceptable.

Speaker 1 (01:01:18):
Now, Jay, we got a couple of minutes left here,
and then, you know, speaking of Unbreakable, you had a
great guess this week. You had Rafael Levado Junior on
you know listen. You said he's one of the best
guests you've ever had on the podcast.

Speaker 4 (01:01:29):
What was this week like with it?

Speaker 6 (01:01:31):
Yeah, especially look like we're all talking about the two
of stuff, right and Roster Luff out of Junior, I
was broadcasting his title fight from Belisorp a couple of
years ago, Midway Championship of the World, and he gets
basically a call before that fight where he has a
brain condition and he's not able to get cleared for

(01:01:53):
here he is like the biggest moment of his life.
He finally ends up getting cleared just for the fight.
It wins the world championship, and then shortly after it's
told you can never fight again. It's done, is over
because you have this brain condition that basically you have
extra blood vessels and if they burst or pops, you

(01:02:14):
can be looking at baralysis everything. And man, all of
a sudden talking about goal from the top of everything
you've worked for for your dream and it gets ripped
from you shortly after, and for him to somehow reconcile
with it where he made it a blessing. He has

(01:02:36):
the most unbreakable do it. I've been around my life
and you talked him out and he just won the
world again and he's doing you know, submission fighting against jitsu,
which is there's no strikes, and he ended up having
one more fight in Japan and was able to kind
of go out in his own terms. But imagine that. Guys,
you work so hard. It's you know, hey, you work

(01:02:56):
so hard you win a super Bowl, then two days later,
by the way, you're never gonna play it again, is
what it basically watched. And he's not what would me,
doesn't never three parties. He is as unbreakable as they saw. Man,
you gotta listen to Touch and Inspiring.
