We got a big trade in the NFL. Gonna get
you coming up in a few minutes. Jason lockin Forest
stopping by. Maybe it was our foot, maybe we cursed him.

(01:00):
I'm sure it's our fault that the Lions traded away
David Montgomery.

Speaker 4 (01:03):
That's my guy yesterday talking about him because he was
refuting reports.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
Four hours later. But I am not leaving. Oh yeah,
I'm gone. Oh okay, that would have made a Wolf
of Wall Street different. I'm not leaving. Oh no, you're leaving.
Oh I'm leaving.

Speaker 4 (01:18):
You're being escorted out of the building right now. I
didn't know that. Okay, key card doesn't work anymore, but
I wanted to stay.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
So it's it's been a lot more of your fault
than ours, though, how is my fault? You know how
that's not my fore you can't play that was that
was a year and a half ago. One time. That
was a year room the franchise. Oh, I do want
to absolutely murder hang on. I think we can trace
back the beginning of Jamiir Gibbs a cent into becoming
the number one running back to that right after that game,

(01:45):
Like I think the numbers and the division of labor
between between Jamiir Gibbs and Dave Montgomery before our interview
and then after that's where it kind of just changed dramatically.

Speaker 4 (01:54):
As soon as like, I don't think he really disclosed
that he didn't need at the boy.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
Yeah, and then they.

Speaker 4 (01:59):
Said, well he can't be the guy that we lean
on down the stretch.

Speaker 1 (02:03):
Here we go. Yeah, all you now no more sonic
and knuckles. Now it's just sonic.

Speaker 4 (02:07):
This is just I saw Jamiir Gibbs with the sad
meme that he put up on social media, a lot
of bad stuff. David Montgomery wrote the longest hey, thank
you for everything.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
Note.

Speaker 4 (02:20):
I think we've ever seen it from an athlete.

Speaker 1 (02:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:23):
Look, I highly like Dedroit. I like vacationing and living there.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
I'll be honest with you. I think this falls under
the category of this is a good trade for both
teams because look, one, number one, Jamiir Gibbs become one
of the top two running backs in all of he
and John Robinson. Uh, he's getting all the carries. Yes,
more division of labor for him. Not that you don't
need another running back, because Dave Montgomery still has proven
to be pretty good, pretty solid, big goal line guy,

(02:48):
big red zone guy, but a little bit more of
a luxury where if you are the Lions, you want
to keep the window open, you gotta do a Kansas
City Chiefs twenty twenty one off season where it's like, boy,
we just got beat to death in the playoffs because
we have no offensive line. We gotta go bring in
like four new guys, so doing what they're doing right now, Hey,
we're gonna bring an offensive line. They got to be

(03:10):
heavy on it this year to keep that window open
because that was their their big free fall at the
end of last year. I think they finished in the
bottom third of the league offensive line of protection in
a bunch of different categories. This is one of those
trades that I like it for both teams. The Texans
needed a weapon. He needed somebody bigger to that you
could at. Other teams had to plan around at running
back and they got it, and the Lions have to
just add offense, just keep adding offensive line, adding offensive line.

(03:34):
I like it for both sides.

Speaker 4 (03:35):
Well, it's a good start. Abandoned Lions watched in Division
that that was one of the big points of emphasis
for the Bears. Look what ended up transpiring there. So
the Lions will go and draft another running back or
find someone off the cheap. Because David Montgomery still makes
pretty good money, you're able to get a couple of
you trade off a couple of draft picks. So that's

(03:56):
where the line building would need to come. Because the
guy you did bring in was a backup. Has started
in the past, has moved around the line.

Speaker 1 (04:03):
Oh that's why I said you need numbers.

Speaker 4 (04:05):
You need to bring it.

Speaker 1 (04:06):
You need numbers. Hey, here's one guy. No, you got
to bring in something. No, it's a nice start.

Speaker 4 (04:10):
They also need to figure out how to keep that
defensive side of the ball healthy.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
Yeah, but lions are built on at least we know
what the building blocks here.

Speaker 4 (04:21):
I don't know how to exercise the demons. They weren't
affected as much necessarily as some other locker rooms, but
certainly one of those things in the training room going
we get into what are we doing over here? One
of our best practices? How do we do this better?

Speaker 1 (04:35):
You give me Aiden Hutchinson, I'll give you back, Aaron Glenn.
I mean, right there, let's do it. Let's do it
right now. I'm gonna make it happen.

Speaker 4 (04:42):
He's a better and a better dancer.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
Let's make it happen.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
He is.

Speaker 1 (04:45):
He is a better dancer.

Speaker 4 (04:46):
He is a better dancer, There's no question about it.
But you know me, I still have an affinity for
David Montgomery going back to his days in Chicago. Uh,
obviously that's a couple of years removed, and Sonic and
Knuckles had their run. But you s I had some
cap space to go find yourself another running back. You
give yourself an opportunity. Now you don't have as many

(05:07):
draft picks. Again, you give two of those away, but
you get active in free agency. They still have to
move a lot of money around to really clear out
to give themselves the best opportunity in the free agent market.
But for the Lions, yeah, this becomes one of the
hard decisions you have to make to that next iteration
of your squad, knowing that the Bears and backers and

(05:27):
probably the Vikings if they can get adequate quarterback play,
will be there to fight for the division ground.

Speaker 1 (05:34):
It's alive. More in this story coming up in about
fifteen minutes again with Jason locking for Hey, the Lions,
they're keeping that window open. Man keeping the window. But
speaking of comebacks, we had two returns tonight, well, okay,
one return to the court, one return to the sideline
that didn't.

Speaker 4 (05:53):
Go very well. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (05:54):
Uh, Trey Young in advance of his return to the lineup, right,
he's gonna come back now for the first time since
he's traded, gonna go come to the Wizard's lineup. Got
tossed from tonight's game, because he stepped on the court
during a dead ball situation where there was a bit
of a bruhaha going on, and he got a David
Stern you step on the court, I'll throw you out ejections.
So ahead of his return, Trey Young has been thrown out,

(06:16):
which kind of tells me that maybe he doesn't want
to play at all. And like you, if you're talking
about bringing me back, just understand this is kind of
how it's gonna go. You know what. I didn't feel
like I'm gonna step on the court and they're gonna throw
me out. Yeah, I'm gone. I'm gone.

Speaker 4 (06:26):
Do you want to submit an appeal? Yeah, making a
ten game suspension. I really said some terrible things, and
I create I was an absolute nuisance in that five feet.
I stepped out on the court.

Speaker 1 (06:39):
Just to say, all right and ready to come back.
Maybe he doesn't want to.

Speaker 4 (06:42):
It was like fans on the way back into.

Speaker 1 (06:44):
The locker room.

Speaker 4 (06:44):
Maybe that's I don't need to watch this anymore.

Speaker 1 (06:47):
Maybe that's aside. Listen, you put me back on the bench.
I got thrown out. What do you think is gonna
happen if you actually put me on the court. Oh,
it's a good point. All right, Well, we'll sit you
down for now.

Speaker 4 (06:54):
The Bulls have been terrible, right, one in nine in
their last ten. They were winless in the month of February.
They are still eight and a half games ahead of
the Wizards. So it's not like, hey, we could really
put forth the competitive that that would take an awful
lot to climb to that, you know, twelfth spot in
the Eastern Conference. So it becomes a why am I bothering?

Speaker 2 (07:17):
Now?

Speaker 1 (07:17):
Me rolling out? Meanwhile, here is the story of the night,
and I feel like the universe is really helping out
Yannis where they really don't have to anymore. Okay they did, Jannis, Hey,
you could have gotten out in Milwaukee couple of times.
All you had to do was say you wanted out.
Could have gotten out? No, no, no, now you want
to stay Tonight. Yannis makes his return for the first

(07:40):
time since he got hurt when he strained his CAF
January twenty third, which made trading him a little bit
more difficult.

Speaker 4 (07:47):
He was right about the six week recovery.

Speaker 1 (07:49):
He was he was. He said that three to six weeks,
six weeks, I'm right back, and so in that time
he said I'm not leaving. True stars attract, they don't
defect to go someplace else. I'm gonna stay here. Made
a bunch of money on Kalchi comes back tonight twenty
five minutes, nineteen and eleven, A couple assists and you know,

(08:11):
doesn't shoot great, but still here's Jannis back on the
court tonight. Pretty decent night. But if this isn't the universe,
the basketball universe telling Yannis, Yannis, you have to go,
you must leave. Like remember that commercial that Hank Aaron
did with Barry Bonds when Bonds was gonna break Hank
Aaron's home run record and Bonds has taken batting practice

(08:31):
and he hears his voice over the loud speaker, Bonds,
give it up. You'll never break the record. Just give
it up, Bonds, and Barry's looking around and it's Hank
Aaron on the mic. You know, don't break my record, Bonds,
give it up. You're too old, You're too old. Like
I feel like this is the universe saying Yannis, Yannis,
you have to go. You're not going to win here.
Not only Yannis comes back at home against the Celtics

(08:53):
team without Jason Tatum, who is on his way back
and could be back sooner rather than later. No, Jalen Brown,
who was ill tonight. Yeah, and still it was a
thirty point burial that the Celtics put on the Bucks
one oh eight to eighty one. Every member the Celtics
starting five was in double figures. Peyton Pritchard had twenty

(09:15):
five off the you know, Caitlyn Clark. Peyton Pritchard had
twenty five off the bench. This is Yannis coming back
to a Bucks team that treaded water. I guess you
could say the best while he was out. They were
eight and seven, not bad. They beat some pretty good team.
They beat Oklahoma City while he was out. They beat
Miami while he was out, They beat the Cavaliers like,
they won some decent games. And obviously they lost to

(09:36):
the Bulls. They got crushed by the Knicks. But still,
this is a team that's eight games under five hundred.
When Jannis was out, they were one game over. Okay,
So here comes Jiannis who is back? Who is you know,
still at the peak of Jannis's powers? All right, maybe
we get a little bit of a run going on here.
Giannis is back. We know what we're doing for the
rest of the season and he comes back and they

(09:58):
just get absolutely buried by thirty points at the hands
of the Celtics. This is these are the basketball gods
saying it's time, du Doc, it's time for you to
go too. But it's also time for Yannis to go.

Speaker 5 (10:13):
All of you need to leave.

Speaker 1 (10:16):
Just hear that voice in your head, Just hear that
voice in me.

Speaker 4 (10:18):
No, it'll stay there. I mean, he was able to
get his brother two minutes of playing time tonight in
the burial, so that's good. But you look at this
roster and you look around and going, are we gonna
win anything?

Speaker 6 (10:28):
All right?

Speaker 4 (10:28):
Kyle Kuzma didn't play tonight, fine, But beyond you look
at that starting lineup, there's there's no excitement the bench.
Cam Thomas the guy they pick up. Maybe maybe they can,
you know, find lightning in the in the bottle. Once
upon a time he was a big deal. But all
that to say, you're scraping the bottom and you're looking around,
going where's the fix? No matter how much you try

(10:51):
to shed in terms of what's on the cap for
next year, how many players are you enticing?

Speaker 2 (10:56):
Right?

Speaker 4 (10:56):
He wants to go and be the recruiter you did that.
You brought in Lillard, it didn't work, He went home,
got hurt, went home, And now you're trying to cling
to the last couple years of your run. They're eight
games under five hundred, they fall to fourteen and fifteen
at home on the year, and as you say, they
got blown out with no Jalen Brown. Now, Peyton Pritchard

(11:18):
has been alternately Caitlin Clark in the best of ways.
Since that comparison, He's got like five twenty five point
games at his last eight games played. He actually got
shut out last time out. I don't know how that
happens in twenty seven minutes. He shoots well enough for that.
But for the honest side of it, it's the I

(11:39):
applaud you for coming back because you're playing for nothing
at this point for the rest of the season, right,
You're just scraping the bottom. But you look around and
realize how hard it's going to be. But you don't
want to be the bad guy. It's that very difficult
space in the universe of you know what has to
be done right, It's that long standing job change, break up,

(12:01):
whatever it is. But you just want to keep kicking
that can down the road and Giannis is looking around
and maybe he got a little love from the hometown fans,
but it's it's that time.

Speaker 1 (12:10):
He needs to be like in uh in Field of Dreams,
where like he's working out by himself in the gym.
And you hear, if you ask for a trade, they
will do it.

Speaker 3 (12:23):
Who said that?

Speaker 1 (12:23):
Who's there?

Speaker 3 (12:25):
Who's there?

Speaker 1 (12:25):
Who's there?

Speaker 5 (12:26):
If you ask for a trade, they will trade you.
But you have to ask.

Speaker 3 (12:31):
Ease his pain? Who's pain?

Speaker 5 (12:35):
Doc rivers? He can't win with you, he can't win
without you. Please take him with you. Ease his pain?

Speaker 4 (12:42):
Who's there? Who's there?

Speaker 2 (12:43):
Who's there?

Speaker 1 (12:44):
Who's there? I mean really that that's a This is
the basketball world to say, dude, you have to go. Man,
you can't stay anymore.

Speaker 4 (12:51):
Problem is he's now dragged this out enough to where
he's living long enough to become the villain.

Speaker 1 (12:56):
Yeah, I say, he's gotta say I want out. He's
gotta say it. I'm when I said when I said
winner stayed to attract, I meant like in a situation
where a team could actually win if I attracted somebody.
But instead, what I'm gonna do, I'm gonna go someplace
else and attract people there. That's really what I meant
is I'll go to a new place and attract people
to come in.

Speaker 5 (13:15):
If you leave, you will attract people there. If you leave,
we could get Karl, Anthony Towns and maybe mckel bridges
in return.

Speaker 4 (13:25):

put the NFL combine, put a big bow on it.
Take a look at what's next. We heard a lot
of quarterback rumors over the weekend. We got a big

(16:23):
potential injury that could effect the top five in the draft.
Joining us now the hot line Nobody bet or Washington
Post wanna bet longtime NFL insider Jason Lockin for what's happening?
Man how are you.

Speaker 2 (16:34):
What's going on, gentlemen?

Speaker 4 (16:36):
Greetings?

Speaker 2 (16:37):
All right?

Speaker 1 (16:37):
Well, well, first of all, I know you'd have to
worry too much about writing anything about Syracuse lacrosse after
this past weekend. But as we get to the combine,
a big trade today Lions moved David Montgomery to the
Texans to get back an offensive lineman, get a couple
of picks. I kind of like this for both sides.
Like right, it's hard for me to say, oh, hey,

(16:57):
one team really won, because look, Montgomery's still a good player,
but a luxury. The Texas needed him more, and clearly
the Lions see as many offensive linemen as they could
get jay after what happened last year.

Speaker 2 (17:09):
Yeah, it makes sense. These are guys too who let's
face it. I mean, the Lions have to recalibrate some
of the way that they're spending their money, and you know,
it's it's going to be time to exert maximum explosion
out of Gibbs, who obviously already became I can't come

(17:31):
a bell cow. You know, it was still too much
divisional labor for that. But I think we see which
way the wind was blowing there, So yeah, I mean
I get it is it going to end up moving
the needle being a difference maker for for other of
these teams that are looking to get over the top.

(17:52):
Probably not, but he's he brings an emotional intensity, he
plays with physicality, and they liked having that guy there
in Joe Mixon. And I don't know if we're ever
going to find out exactly what the heck happened to
Joe mix Center or whatever, but I Joe Mixon never
plays again, it's not gonna be for the Texans, So

(18:13):
I get it.

Speaker 4 (18:14):
Yeah, that was an interesting angle right with Montgomery yesterday
going I don't want to go anywhere. Twenty four hours later,
you're you're going to the planet Houston as we roll up.
So coming out of the combine, what's the most interesting
rumor to pass your mailbox?

Speaker 2 (18:32):
The most interesting rumor?

Speaker 7 (18:37):
You know?

Speaker 2 (18:39):
I don't. I really wonder at the end of the
day if Max Cosby goes anyway, you know, And there's
a lot of people who think that the goalposts could
keep moving there, and that Tom Brady wants to kind
of play this out in a way that they want
everyone and Max to kind of feel like they're trying

(19:01):
to do right by him and going to do right
by him. But whatever you hear, the value is, Now,
that's a fungible thing. And I get the sense that
in that organization they have a hard time seeing themselves fielding. Look,
the defense might not be that competent with him, but
without him, I just don't know that there's a whole

(19:24):
lot of stomach for moving in there, especially if the
draft picks that they think they're going to end up
getting aren't as high as they would like. And let's
be real, how many truly rebuilding teams are looking for
a guy with, you know, as great as he is
that much tread on the tire. I probably not right.

(19:45):
These are more contending teams, and those draft picks are
a lot lower.

Speaker 5 (19:51):
Jay.

Speaker 1 (19:51):
When it comes to the quarterbacks, you've heard a lot
of different things. Kyler Murray obviously is going to get
released at some point. You think to a tongue of
Ailoa getting released at some point. First things first with
any of these guys, is anybody getting traded or are
we waiting for all of them to get released?

Speaker 2 (20:07):
Yeah? I don't think anybody's got mean again, Kyler probably
like two of it was never getting traded. That just
was an impossibility make the way that thing was structured
and how poorly he played. You know, Kyler has more
athletic upside. There's maybe a chance that if they eat
enough of that contract they get something something for it.

(20:28):
But the closer you get to the start of the
league year, the more you know that people just are
inclined to they we're just gonna you know, we're gonna
get them. We're gonna get him for nothing. So yeah,
I I I just don't know who signed. I don't
even know where Toua goes. I just that that will
be that'll be a pretty interesting situation to follow. But

(20:55):
I almost feel like a guy like Anthony Richardson, not
that you're going to get much for him, but for
what you have to pay him, which will be next
to nothing, and the ability to provide a different sort
of skill set if you do want him for five
to seven plays in a subtackage, or do you want

(21:15):
him to kind of be your Taysom Hill. I almost
feel like that's more interesting and intriguing when I pick personnel,
people's brains about this more than having two of their
as a backup who's not going to be able to
push the ball. Downfield, who's not going to offer anything
with his legs, you know, who just wants to throw
screen passes.

Speaker 4 (21:38):
Now I have to ask the question from my friend
here to my right, what do you expect Derek? Yeah,
what what is Derek Carr going to do as the
quarterback for the Jets?

Speaker 2 (21:48):
I don't I don't think I'm not buying this, But
nobody I'm talking to you, come on, man, this mythologist,
this mythologizing of Derek. I mean, Derek car didn't have
much of a market when he got that deal on
in New Orleans. Yeah. People I was talking to in
the league at that real time, where like the hell
are the Saints doing? Like what is Mickey MoMA struck again?
Like it's another bizarre world contract. No, I don't think

(22:12):
anybody's giving anything of the Saints for the rights to
pry him out of retirement. Now, could I see Tyler there?
That could that could? Yeah? I kind of do.

Speaker 5 (22:31):
Well.

Speaker 1 (22:32):
The last the thing is like jacking.

Speaker 2 (22:35):
Up in that division they're Miami. You know, I could
kind of say it because.

Speaker 1 (22:39):
The thing is is that obviously Aaron Blenn and company
want to make it to twenty twenty seven, when there's
other quarterbacks out there and things are there, and they
have all the draft picks, but they got to win this,
so they gotta be bold. They gotta go get somebody.
They got to go get something. And Kyler Murray, look,
he's the guy that you're gonna be able to go
get and not have to trade a draft pick for
or anything else. And yeah, no, the more time goes

(23:00):
on Kyler Murray and the Jets guy, I don't know.
If Derek Carr's not going to talk his way back in,
it's going to be Kyler Murray.

Speaker 2 (23:06):
And it could be a situation too where if you
get him signed to a two year deal, right and
he plays okay, like he plays enough to stay healthy
enough to showcase a little bit, but you like that
draft class in you're in position to get Archer or whoever,
and you just trade him, you know what I mean.
So not only do you not have to give up
anything to acquire the rights to him, but maybe you

(23:27):
flip them for something decent next off season. Now, he's
not really going to be all that inclined to do
a two year deal, but I think he's about to get,
you know, flapped in the face by this market in
a way that he's never seen before. And the bottom
line is he's made his money. He made his money
with Arizona. Now you got to prove that you can
really play in the league, and you got to prove
how fuck can you are? You got to prove Okay,

(23:49):
if it's just playing for the bid Wells as a
joke and that franchise is a joke and the coaches
you've been with are a joke, Okay, I mean, is
there something to that? Maybe a little something something, so
but this is it, you know what I mean? Now
you got to go and show it. So it might
be that, you know, the three or four teams that
are interested in him all want to sign him to
a two year deal.

Speaker 4 (24:09):
So coming out of that, we look at the franchise
tag starting to pop in and the Rubri conjecture speculation. Right,
we got George Pickens and Kyle Pitts the first two tag.
Does that happen with any of these these other guys
or they come to deals? While we're looking at the
Daniel Jones Pierce Walker kind of kind.

Speaker 2 (24:28):
Of tree, you I don't think any I mean, Pierce
is the one that I think something could happen there.
I mean the three guys who people in the league
were talking the most about. Pickens you knew was going
to get it, fits most people figured would probably get it.
You'd rather squat on them for one year than do
something long term if you don't have to. And Stefans,
you play so much twelve and thirteen personnel that it

(24:49):
would just make a lot of sense there. And then yeah,
Pierce was kind of the other one where people look
at him as an ascending player, and if you do
that one, I would say it's more a bridge to
a long term deal than just squatting on them, where
I think Pickens is just going to get squatted on.
I think Pitts is just going to get squatted on

(25:10):
and that'll be it. I think Jones ends up back
in Indianapolis, but not on any sort of tag, and
I don't know given his medical situation that you've got
to be in a rush to do that. Yeah, I'd
be surprised if if anybody else get it gets it.
Maybe there's a transition tag that sneaks in there, but
it's not going to be a robust class of tag.

Speaker 1 (25:33):
Players NFL inside of Jason Locking for our guest Jason
Smith make harmon live from the Fox Sports Radio studios.
All right, now, a big bombshell coming in earlier today
when it comes to Caleb Downs, who coming into the
draft probably the best player in all of college football
what he's done the last four years, probably going to
be a top five pick, but now coming out of

(25:55):
the combine, a big report today that he's being flagged
with a potentially degen ACL. Now this is brand new,
you know we you know, maybe a couple of teams
have talked about this, but now this is out there.
Is this going to affect his draft stock? Does he drop? Did?
Do we need more on this? Jay Wheel? I know
this story is fairly new, but you know on what we.

Speaker 2 (26:15):
Say, Yeah, I haven't had a chance to you know
what I mean, really run it by anybody coming out
of the combine to see what their medical teams think
of there, or you know the extent of it. But look,
the most important thing that happens if the combine is
the medical and when you get the groups to clusters

(26:36):
of five or six team doctors and you know, they
do this sort of in their waves and they start
kicking photos on my eye results and everything yeah, it certainly.
It certainly can have an impact. It certainly can cause
players to go in some cases are half around later
then you'd think, in other cases even more. But yeah,

(27:01):
well we'll have to see. You know, how much of
this is open to interpretation than whether there's a consensus
forming among teams about the potential ramifications of this and
the extent of it or not, because again, this is
not one size fits all. In a lot of these instances, good.

Speaker 4 (27:20):
Or a bad thing that the top free agent that
everybody wants is a center.

Speaker 2 (27:27):
Boy. And even then people who are act like he's
not creat Humphrey, he's not. He's smaller and he plays
the leverage game, but not to the degree that some
other people do. Yeah, look it's it's not it's not
a bumper crop. I mean like, in the right place,
could Tyler Wingabaum be a difference maker? I mean they

(27:52):
could talk me in. I mean kind is hard of maybe,
But in terms of guys who are going to go
and sign in the first forty eight hours of free agency,
who really tip the balance of power in the scales
and take a team from on the cost to winning
it all or a team from on the fringe two
in the hunt. I don't. I look at this class

(28:15):
and I just don't see that caliber of player. I
just I just don't. I don't really see it. Like,
if you're gonna tell me Trey Henderson is going to
go back to what he was three years ago, I
mean i'd say okay, But I mean that's that's that's
a that's a big ask, that's a that's a reach.

Speaker 1 (28:33):
He's on Twitter at Jason lock and for that is
at Jason lock and for check him out on Wanna
Bet as well. Jay, as always, Buddy, appreciate it. Man,
we'll talk to you next week. Enjoy the games this week.

Speaker 2 (28:43):
Thanks for having me. Boys, Go crack it.

Speaker 1 (28:45):
Go crack it. Hey, yeah's see Jason, you know now
now the thing is, yeah, they're playing the Canes. So
but that's okay. We're the best team in the Eastern Conference.

Speaker 2 (28:55):
The house.

Speaker 1 (28:55):
Maybe you guys can throw some gloves down and get
after Yeah, well what if. Look, we're the best team
in the Eastern. Go I'm thinking Stanley cup the chef,
Stanley Cupper bust here. We are the best.

Speaker 4 (29:05):
March March, Frostburg. You fired, you fired a coach.

Speaker 1 (29:08):
This weekend. Yes, I'll see you in the NHL Stanley
Cup Final. I'll see if they fired their coach.

Speaker 4 (29:14):
And today was the first time I saw a digital
billboard up on the road to work that said ghost Kings.

Speaker 7 (29:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (29:19):
Well the Fed listen, Well, the nil people came in
and said, listen, we'll give you nil money if you
fire your coach. That's just like college. Yeah. But the
thing about Caleb Downs right now, now this he's not
the first guy to come in with a medical red flag.

Speaker 4 (29:32):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (29:33):
That says, hey, maybe potentially here's an injury that could
shorten his career, hurt him down the line. Maybe maybe not.
But he's coming into the league in his early twenties,
his first contract, his first few years in the league
are going to be fine. What this does for Caleb
Downs because you know, look, as Jason locking forred said,
guys have lost half a round, maybe a full round
because he's so special, because he's that good. I told you,

(29:54):
and maybe I cursed him. Maybe I cursed him by saying, hey,
he's a guy, take a number two best playing in
the drafter getting raw Woodson Now all of a sudden
degenerative knee injury, I'm sorry, Caleb Downs, it's all by fault.

Speaker 7 (30:04):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (30:05):
This what this will do to him? This will knock
him out of the top five. He's not gonna last
past number ten. He's still too special a player. He's
still Teams are still gonna say we get a guy
who could be a Hall of Famer at number seven,
number eight, number nine, but top five when you're seeing
guys with that that are big difference makers, Like for
the Jets to have a decision at number two between

(30:26):
him and RFL Reese, Well, we're gonna go with the
guy that gets after the quarterback, right, that's what you're
gonna see. Maybe you see Jeremiah Love jump up. He's
gonna be someone that moves up in drafts, is more
special he becomes. So Caleb Downs will drop, but he's
not gonna drop out of the top ten. Probably out
of the top five, or I would say, yeah, I
don't think he's getting out of the top five before today.
This is gonna be He'll go between five and ten.
That's gonna be his drop.

Speaker 4 (30:45):
Yeah, this is the one where we're still you know,
the cross of the t's dot in the eyes and
waiting on you know, further corroboration because it is a
medical thing. It's not like people are running to a
podium to say, yes, this is what happened. Corey Kinnan
daft on draft he's been part of you say today
for a number of years saying that an NFL scout
referred this to him. That you know, Downs had several

(31:08):
issues flagged during the medical check, including the potential degenerative
knee or degenerative ACL issue, which you know the flag,
but again that that could be a long term we're
talking about a window to play. If he's still able
to move and you saw nothing on the field to
say that a downturn is imminent, that you still say,

(31:29):
all right, that guy's a big piece, especially if you're
a contending squad or looking to make a jump right away.
But certainly one worth noting as we go for it again.
Perhaps the Jason Smith jinx comes in here and it's
your fault. It is brace yourself with that lawsuit, buddy,
Perhaps out it is yeah, okay, so it is that

(31:52):
David Montgomery traded Caleb Downs is hurt because everything is
problems in Detroit. Your fault, it's inevitable. Well, something bad's
gonna happen to the Pistons because you jumped on board
that So I mean bad job by you. But it's
always tough. When you come out of the medicals and
you come out of combined week, it's supposed to be
a positivity and right now it's the All right, here's

(32:14):
a top top player that may have to be adjusted.

Speaker 1 (32:17):
Time now to find out what's trending in the wide
world of sports. From Special Delivery Steve the Sega s D.
What do you got for us tonight?

Speaker 6 (32:24):
Let's start with the NBA. Is there are four games tonight?
Utah has lost five games in a row and Denver
has taken the lead at Utah ninety to eighty six
under five minutes left in the third quarter. Jamal Murray
has twenty nine points. The late games at Golden State
and the Warriors in the final seconds of the first
period lead the LA Clippers thirty one to nineteen. Boston

(32:44):
did not have Jalen Brown due to illness tonight, but
still won easily at Milwaukee one oh eight eighty one.
Guard Hugo Gonzalez had eighteen points and sixteen rebounds. Milwaukee
superstar Jannis an Tenecumpo finally returned from the strain calf.
He'd been out for over a month. Had missed fifteen games.
Nineteen points eleven rebounds for Milwaukee's star in twenty five

(33:07):
minutes on the court. Tonight, Houston a winner at Washington
won twenty three one eighteen. Wizards have lost five in
a row. Alpah and Shengoon thirty two points for the Rockets.
Trey Young will make his Wizard's debut on Thursday. He's
been out since late December with knee and quad entries.
Oklahoma City shay Gilgess Alexander will miss Tuesday's game managing

(33:27):
an abdominal strain. He scored thirty points in Sunday's win.
Donovan Mitchell of the Cavs will miss a fourth straight
game on Tuesday with a strain groin. Cooper Flag of
the Mavericks doubtful for Tuesday with a sprain foot, so
he could miss an eighth straight game. New Orleans Zion
Williamson listed his questionable for Tuesday at the Lakers. He
expects to play. He missed Sunday's game at the Clippers

(33:49):
with a sprained ankle. Anthony Edwards in Minnesota is the
player of the Week in the West, Detroit's Jalen Durham
Player of the Week in the East. Right now, in
college hoops, about twelve minutes to go at number two,
Arizona Wildcats lead six franked Iowa State forty six thirty seven. Earlier,
Number one Duke dominated at NC State ninety three sixty four.

(34:09):
Duke also dominated in the New AP Pole, getting fifty
five of the fifty nine first place votes. Miami of
Ohio twenty nine to zero is up to number nineteen
in the country, its highest ranking since nineteen fifty three.
Saint Mary's is in at number twenty one after beating
Consaga over the weekend to end their regular season. The
women's basketball regular season ended Sunday for most teams today,

(34:33):
Rutgers fired women's coach Cokeies Washington. She went eleven and
sixty one in conference in her four seasons, including losing
her last eleven games.

Speaker 1 (34:42):
Steeve the Knicks would have gave her a raise for
this stop stop. Not the Knicks. The old Knicks would
have statue Yeah now available. Eleven and sixty one in
conference play in for.

Speaker 4 (34:53):
Year and a lot of chances to turn things around
made it four years that's pretty good.

Speaker 1 (34:57):
Yeah, like that's like the Pittsburgh Steelers say, no, I'm
gonna stick with you. We still think the best days
are common whin They.

Speaker 6 (35:02):
Followed Vivian Stringer, who you don't won a game or two?

Speaker 5 (35:05):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (35:05):
Oh yeah yeah not bad yeah, not bad career, not
bad career.

Speaker 6 (35:10):
Speaking of winning a game or two, Yukon is still
a unanimous number one. They just ended their regular season
thirty one and oh yesterday. Do you know they won
by at least thirty points in twenty five of their
thirty one games this season, Connecticut has won forty seven
straight overall going back to last season. Yukon is off
until Saturday, but against Big East teams, Yukon women's hoops

(35:33):
has won sixty seven straight.

Speaker 1 (35:35):
They just had to get rid of Paige Beckers. She
was holding them back. I mean now they're winning even bigger.
Clips had to get rid of Page Beckers.

Speaker 6 (35:42):
They used to lose like six whole games.

Speaker 1 (35:44):
Yeah, I mean, you come on man, thirty and oh
to twenty four and twenty four and six International title
to thirty and oh. Page Beckers was holding them back.

Speaker 6 (35:52):
And the big NFL item Lions trading running back David
Montgomery to the text inspect.

Speaker 1 (35:57):
You, thank you Steve. Coming up now your faults may
very actual play the day and you want a great
big basketball hot take, We got it for you next
Jason and Mike Fox.

Speaker 3 (36:05):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.

Speaker 1 (36:14):
Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Harmon. Hey, live from the tirerack dot Com studios,
and it is time for the Tirack Play of the Day.
For over forty years, Tireck's been helping customers find the
right tires for how, what and where they drive. Ship
Fast and Free backed by free Road, has a protection
with convenient installation options like mobile tire installation. Tirack dot

(36:37):
Com is the way tire buying should be. Well, when
your return is imminent and you're on the bench and
you get thrown out of the game, well you get
to be the play of the day. We have a
technical foul on Trey.

Speaker 4 (36:53):
Young for running on the court and he's been ejected.
Oh wow wow. Can't give all the court though on
Houston and the players being reviewed to see if it's
potentially playground. Trey Yuk hasn't even played a game yet
for the Wizards.

Speaker 1 (37:13):
Hey, but this is can't do that and he look,
he's just as mad as I am, correct as.

Speaker 7 (37:23):
He no.

Speaker 1 (37:26):
Wizards TV on the call. Yes, Trey Young will make
his Wizard's debut on Thursday. I don't know unless you
gets could he get suspended for that game for because
he got thrown out of this game? Like like like
David Stern would do that, David sew play. Oh yeah, yeah,
you're done. You're done. Three four more games around. So
we scheduled to make his debut Thursday. But now getting
thrown out of this game was just on the just

(37:48):
on the sideline, just stepped on the court during a
bit of a fracas and heyp can't come on the court.
Obviously he gets thrown out. I love how they they
they they made sure to talk about him by name.
We have a technical on Trey Young, who was obtained
by the Wizards at the deadline from the Hawks. He
averaged twenty seven points a game for Atlanta, couldn't get
him past the second round of the playoffs. It's much

(38:10):
hated in Madison Square. Oh sorry, yeah, he's thrown out
of the game.

Speaker 4 (38:13):
We remember that we were watching the other night. It
was the Denver OKC game and they went to the
table and after reviewing when Sga threw the ball off Jokic,
they go, well, he threw it off the joker, and like, okay,
so we've seen some crazy stuff at the desk.

Speaker 1 (38:30):
This is like.

Speaker 4 (38:30):
Billy Crystal throwing Kareem Abdul Jabbar out before the opening
tip and forget Paris. Yeah, it's my farewell game. Well,
let me be the verse to say, hey, farewell nineteen
ninety five, showing my age when Cap was still in Uni.
But all of that to say, it's it's a very
curious strategy and how what are the parameters of the

(38:52):
sideline slash coaches box? Right, it's always been a gray area.
When do you decide he's come a step too far?
In this case, you're still not playing.

Speaker 1 (39:03):
Just sit out.

Speaker 4 (39:04):
But he took a couple of steps onto the court
and was promptly shown the door, and he took the
high fives all the way out, all the way up
the tunnel, getting love from the fans.

Speaker 1 (39:14):
Now here's the thing, and you want a great, big
hot take Okay, the Wizards, here's your work.

Speaker 4 (39:19):
Well the wine neck, because I think they want to
beg for shoes.

Speaker 1 (39:22):
I got news for you man, He's gonna start playing Thursday. Okay,
that's great. Eventually a D will start playing at some point. Okay, great.
They got a couple of pretty good young players. Okay,
Star is pretty good. Right, George is pretty good. Don't
forget CJ. McCollum. Right, but what did I say at
the trade deadline? This is like, you know, I love

(39:42):
the nineties. We're getting all guys who were great ten
years ago. What this is like the B the B
team of a dream team, like the if it was
ten years ago the B dream team in the NBA,
like we were sending the second wave of stars to
go play in the Olympics, it would be A D. McCollum,
Trey Young l That's who it would be. It's the East.

(40:03):
This is stop Brunson's at the top level.

Speaker 4 (40:05):
He makes he's the top level. Uh.

Speaker 1 (40:09):
But I got news for you. In the East. I
can see there being a a I know this is
a hot take and it sounds crazy, but I can
see I can see a scenario which next year the
Wizards go from absolutely irrelevant to woe. They could be
middle of the pack in the Eastern Conference. I can
see them making that leap too well when they get there,
when they get these guys playing, and now the young

(40:31):
guys don't have to have such complete roles of of
running the team because it's look as good as Sarr
and George are, these are still guys that are young
and they and they're becoming. You got a d you
have Trey Young like you have a couple of dudes
on this team. And again it is the East and
the East you're seeing teams are not very good, man,
they just aren't. I can see I can see the
being a middle of the pack team in the East

(40:52):
next year. Just think about that. They've long been a
team where we just we just dump our guys. That's
one step close to being out of the NBA and
you're going you're never coming back.

Speaker 4 (41:01):
Well, we talked about that random stat that included Tim Duncan,
who's been retired for a decade, right that he had
more wins than the Wizards since nineteen ninety seven. So yeah,
it's kind of a weird thing, uh, Cashawn George though,
second year guy fourteen eight five rebounds a game. Can

(41:23):
you coax enough games played out of Tree Young and
Anthony Davis. There's your billion dollar question now.

Speaker 1 (41:28):
But there's the thing. It's not like you have the
You have to rely just on the one I said,
you have a couple of good young players out like
this mix, I call me crazy, Like you say, who
could come out of nowhere next year? That's my team.

Speaker 4 (41:39):
I like your insanity. The Wizard all of a sudden,
this is uh, you know, it's extra evidence for when
he says, look, I went mad. You can prove it.
There's tape on the radio when I said the Wizards
were gonna suddenly.

Speaker 1 (41:51):
Talking about the Wizards for the first time since Jordan
played there. Yeah, think about that.

Speaker 4 (41:55):
Hey, hey, that's back to back to back NASCAR champion
Michael Jordan.

Speaker 1 (42:00):
About a Fresco exit swollen dome coming up next. Let's
play matchmaker with quarterbacks or hitting free agency alone. Kind
of needs the long shorts and the rip jersey, and
then the Lakers rip jersey that is in the Hall
of Fame. I think we need that one to keep
the Lakers out your mouth.

Speaker 4 (42:16):
What positivity wins over the weekend?

Speaker 1 (42:19):
Come on, no positivity.

Speaker 4 (42:21):
When Jason just said.

Speaker 1 (42:22):
That, I'm just I'm just saying it was a very
very negative, big moment for that Jersey, and you know
they they wound up losing in the finals.

Speaker 2 (42:31):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (42:31):
Now the NFL Combine is over, and already talk has
turned from hey, the guys we saw running around and
and who's moving up and who's moving down? To what's
gonna happen with the quarterbacks? Right? Every today there was
everywhere you turned there was a new rumor, whether it
was for Kyler Murray or for two a tongue of Iloa,

(42:53):
or Malik Willis or Geno Smith, who was everywhere you
look there was a new Hey the Jets and Kyler Murray, Hey,
hey this is Minnesota and kaid of Hey, you got
everywhere you go you heard something different, which tells me everything.
All the agents, all the players, Hey, they did everything
they wanted to the combine, which was make sure everybody

(43:13):
knows that all these quarterbacks are sought after that make
sure everybody's great.

Speaker 4 (43:17):
Sad we didn't make the sojourn I think next year
we have to do that. Just be at these different
watering holes and listen to the nonsense that starts being
spewed and the rumors. You gotta print that, right, that'll
get out there about my guy. That's how that's really
all this is.

Speaker 1 (43:32):
That's how what's his name was able to get the
figure out, the fix and eight men out right, because
he hung out at the bar. We're listening to all
the players talking about stuff going, Yeah, I figured without
the pictures we were gonna lose, so why not if
they were getting paid, I should get paid too. And
he's listening to to Charlie Sheen talk about how he
fixed the World series.

Speaker 4 (43:49):
What I do is hang out loose lips, like, hey,
you know this guy had a bad, bad medical this
guy had a bad interview, this guy salty, this team, Hey, so,
I mean that's your last week was stop Watch? Problems
with the Ohio state wide out, tait. I mean all
of these things we got chaos.

Speaker 1 (44:09):
I mean you for every quarterback, there's five different teams
that are linked to them. Right now, here's the best.
Fayre's the best. Fan right tells me like again, the
agents were doing their job. Hey, everybody's walking out of
here believing everything that was told to them.

Speaker 4 (44:20):
Work overtime.

Speaker 1 (44:21):
Here's what I heard at the combine. Here's they told
me the combat. Okay, so instead, let's do something a
little bit better. Let's give you the best fits. Okay
for the quarterbacks. We'll go as far as we go,
all the way down the line. Maybe may even get
to Genosmith. I mean, maybe not. But let's start with
Kyler Murray, right. You know, Jason locking Ford joined us
last hour in the show and said, oh, you know

(44:42):
Kyler Murray and the Jets. Look, I said that early
on in the offseason. Kyler Murray's going to be a
guy that Jets kind of have to go after because, look,
the Jets, as much as you would say, hey, we're
waiting for twenty twenty seven, the Jets know we have
to win this year, right because Aaron Glenn wants to
be around a draft arch Manning in twenty twenty seven. Win,
they stink, So I gotta go after somebody. But Kyler

(45:03):
Murray's not gonna be a Jet because you're only a
Jet if you have no other options. That's what That's
what the thing is. And Kyler Murray has options. Look,
he's going to get released and he's going to wind
up being the best quarterback out there because he has
the best combination of youth, experience and what he has done.
Right now, he's an injurist, but there's a reason why

(45:23):
he's available. If he was perfect, he would still be
a member of the Arizona Cardinals, Right, So the Cardinals
are gonna eat money and he's gonna jump to the
top of a lot of teams lists because of that situation. Hey,
he's not gonna cost a lot. Probably somewhere in the
Justin Fields two years forty million, which we talked about
a few days ago, and congratulations to everybody else was
running with that today for him and Malik Willis. You know,

(45:45):
probably something in the Justin Fields range. I wasn't even
at the combine and I told you these guys are
going to get probably two years, forty million, twenty million guaranteed. Right,
That's how it's gonna go. But the best fit for
Kyler Murray, where he should go both sides is Atlanta.

Speaker 5 (46:00):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (46:00):
The Falcons know they have to do something for Michael
Pennock Junior, and it's not we need to go get
somebody to come in that could play if Michael Pennick
Junior can't. He has not flashed at all Right, Michael
Pennix has not shown that he's the quarterback that they
thought he was gonna be coming out of the draft. Look,
I said when he was overdrafted, when he had perfect
pockets at Washington, it was wonderful, right when I had

(46:21):
perfect pocket. Hey, every quarterback looks great. But the one
game where he had a tough time when he didn't
have a perfect pocket Michigan made him look like a guy.
The dude, can you can you get rid of the football? Can?
Can you really find the receivers? And what we've seen
in the NFL is he can't stay healthy and he
hasn't flashed and he has weapons there. Right. Finally, Kyle
Pitts last year jumped into a great year when he

(46:43):
barely played Jean Robinson's number one running back in the NFL. Right,
Drake Lennon still really good. You have a couple of
weapons there in Atlanta, but the mix of Kyler Murray
in Atlanta, it's a great head coach quarterback situation, much
as you want to say about Kevin Stefanski and didn't
get a great grade for for the Browns as far
as head coaches go. Aaron Glenn got an a which

(47:04):
tells you what you should believe about the coaches and
their grades or the NFLPA reports. But Stefanski has shown
he can do it with any quarterback. He made it
work with whoever was playing quarterback for the Browns to
the best of their ability. He's saying, guy, hey, look,
Shador Sanders wound up actually being good. Right four quarterbacks here,
he took him to the playoffs. Coach of the Year
twice in the NFL. Kyler Murray needs to go somewhere

(47:26):
where he can be coached, where he can buy in
right of whatever's going on in Arizona. There's no buying now.
When you are the number one overall pick and you
go through a lot of different regimes, you are by
de facto the most powerful person in the organization. Matter
what you're paying me. I'm here, how many coaches, how
many gms, I'm the most powerful guy. Now you got

(47:47):
to go someplace else. You got to prove it. So
the buy and he's got to get has to be
something that all right, I'm now something. I'm now doing
something i haven't had to do in a long time,
and that is sell myself and make sure that I'm
the best version of myself. When you combine that with
Stefanskin what he's being able to get out of quarterbacks.
The Falcons have a young energy about them, right. They say,

(48:07):
we just need the right people in place. We need
the right guy pulling the trigger. We need the right
guys head coach. We have weapons everywhere else they're probably
gonna wind up keeping Kyle Pitts. Murray should want to
go there. He should want to go to a team
where the division is there for the taking. It's not
a great division, that's a team that is a quarterback
away and the dual threat capabilities that he brings them.
I can see Atlanta's offense lighting up the scoreboard. Now,

(48:30):
health is a big thing for Kyler Murray, but that
mix of I got to go someplace with a great
kind of energy where I can be coached, where I
can still be me and I can go and it's
a bunch of guys that are around my age that hey,
we're ready to do something great together. Kyler Murray, Atlanta
is a great fit.

Speaker 2 (48:47):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (48:47):
I mean, you're talking about a two time Coach of
the Year. Your point about the grades, who knows what
is he was the unfortunate middleman of whatever was going
on between the front office, Jimmy Haslam and back into
the lot like you're in a no win situation, particularly
this year related to how they ran with the quarterback position. Hell,
they still have to deal with whatever Deshaun Watson is

(49:10):
at this point. For Kyler Murray the other place, and
it looks like they're probably gonna keep him in Indianapolis
with Daniel Jones coming off injury and stuff. Would be
that would be a spot as well that you've got
playmakers and already made opportunity to go and win, right,
same kind of parallel we talk about both of the
the South and the AFC in the South and the

(49:31):
NFC that you can go and get it with Atlanta.
You've got a defense that you've rebuilt over the last
couple of years. You talk about all the weapons, offensive
line grades out pretty well. The big question for Kyler
Murray and I can't use sonic and knuckles because we're
talking about that in sad terms elsewhere. Yeah, but if
we don't have turbo mode Kyler Murray, it's a curiosity

(49:52):
of what the next iteration of his play is, right,
because we've talked about it a lot. People can make
fun of the video games and the rumor about hit that.
It's like Taylor Swift wrote a lot of songs about
breakups and bad guys. At some point, there is a
common denominator to all of it. Right, you couldn't have
been one hundred percent on your side as well. And

(50:12):
that's the thing with Kyler Murray. As much as we
mock the bid Wells and the way they've run things
there in Arizona, all these years, you've gone through several
quarterbacks coaches, quarterback coaches, and coordinators, and nobody's been able
to unlock seventeen game plus Kyler Murray. At this point,
maybe Stefanski's that guy because we still have seen that

(50:32):
raw talent and maybe it can develop there in a
division that they can go and win. Because even last year,
as poorly as they played for years, or for most
of the year, they still finished eight and nine. They
were still in the thick of it. What is all
said and done. Go back to the Pennix drafting. Look,
you drafted a guy who'd already ripped his knee twice. Yeah, Look,

(50:55):
whatever the circumstances he and cousins, you were already on borrow.

Speaker 1 (50:57):
Time and you're not drafting high enough to you're not
gonna go draft a quarterback in the draft. You can
get somebody younger coming. It should be a match where
Kyler should want to go there, and it should be
able to take advantage of his talents because it's kind
of what they want to do in Atlanta and and
it is, Hey, we're gonna build around this young core.
And maybe again it's a risk, but there's a reason
why he's out there. So for Kyler Murray, Atlanta works.

(51:21):
Now for Tua, this is a tough one. But come on, man,
him throwing the ball in him throwing the ball in
those swirling winds that met life. Forget it, man, it
would look like me throwing a whiffle ball. Perfect.

Speaker 4 (51:35):
It has great movement to forget it, not supposed to move.
It's a flutterball.

Speaker 1 (51:43):
That's like. That's like me throwing a whiffle ball underwater
like that. That's what watching Tua try to throw the
ball there would be.

Speaker 2 (51:49):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (51:49):
The best spot for Tua is Minnesota. He's got to
go somewhere where he can get off the radar for
a little bit because the front the front lines, he's
been with MYAI has not worked. They built weapons around him,
He's had great players around him, and it didn't work,
to the point where now he's got to go someplace else.
Doesn't have the strongest arm. The dome is a very

(52:10):
big deal right away, and the offense is somewhat similar
to what he had when he was a four thousand
yard passer right Tyreek Hill. Justin Jefferson still found a
way to get the ball to Tyreek Kill. He could
find a way to get it to Justin Jefferson. He's
got to go someplace where he can get off the
radar and get into a system where when it's his turn,

(52:31):
he can come in and fire right. And look, Kevin
O'Connell's a really good quarterback coach. You know, they're just
waiting to turn the page on JJ McCarthy. They got
to bring somebody in because you can't just continue to
go down a bad decision, which was boy, we let
Sam Darnold go. So they have to do something. So now,
if they want to light a fire under JJ McCarthy,
it's got to be somebody who well, if we need
to go to this guy, he can do it. And

(52:53):
we've seen too would do it before and again a
friendly confines environment in Minnesota. I can see him having
six in Minnesota, coming in and learning the system, and
maybe he doesn't really get pushed to the front until
late in the summer, or he takes over early part
of the year after he really gets in and sees
how things go in Minnesota. But to him to go

(53:13):
someplace else high profile to be a starter, not it
he goes to Minnesota, that that solves the best of
both worlds for both sides, for both him and for
the Viking.

Speaker 4 (53:23):
I think it comes down to what's his makeup in
terms of being able to take heat, because that's not
a low profile thing. Because how much error and oxygen
gets into the room when we start talking about JJ
McCarthy an awful lot, right, there's a lot of folks
invested on either side of I'm a blind stand for
this guy from Michigan, or folks that just think he's

(53:45):
terrible and was carried along and didn't deserve a of
the draft status. The Sam Darnold victory and everything else.
TOUA goes into a pretty hot space in that regard.
I think you want to go to somewhere where you
could just go blend in and be amongst the trees.
You take over for Kyler Murray and nobody cares.

Speaker 1 (54:01):
They're still gonna go with Jacoby Brissett to go to
somebody younger. But the thing is they're gonna stick with JJ. McCarthy.
Is gonna get all the attention off the bat, all
the attention. Is he gonna work, Is he gonna and
they'll be waiting for two a time. They will start
loving to it just because he's the backup and we
saw the guy throw for four thousand yards a few
years ago, So just by sitting there and learning, he's

(54:21):
going to become the more desirable option. At some point
he's going to win.

Speaker 4 (54:24):
The batavor favorable and but popular guy in the building.

Speaker 1 (54:28):
There's gonna be so much attention on JJ McCarthy out
of the gate for all the offseason into the season
that it's impossible for him to live up to it
because he's not that great a quarterback. So eventually two
is going to take over and he's going to get
to slide into the job maybe begin middle of the season,
early part of the season, where hey, he's a big
story and look at him come in playing pretty well
just some time to just decompress and be out of

(54:50):
the spotlight for a few months will do him, wonders.

Speaker 4 (54:52):
Yeah, the first deep ball he connects with Justin Jefferson
becomes the highlight of all highlights, especially once Jefferson retweets
remember what he had to say after the.

Speaker 1 (55:03):
Season ended with JJ McCarthy, Hey, Hey, JJ, you're gonna
retweet my past to You're right, Yeah, I'll get to it, dory,
but thanks. I pray that really helped me.

Speaker 2 (55:10):
Man.

Speaker 1 (55:10):
If you can tweet that, I love that. I love that.
