Actually I think he's better than that. I just think
he hasn't had consistent opportunity, So I'll go I'll go
with there's upside left in this guys.

Does that mean well you you do? You do put
very good players in the Hall of Fame, so I
can see where you want to upgrade an average player
to someone who's.

Okay, yes, you know, it's time for you to get
a little new material. I'm not. I have, I have, look,
I have. I've not disputed since the last class certain
foibles in the Hall of Fame process. But we need
to move on from the very good because I don't
want to be angry again. I just don't. I really don't.

got you got me all like last week, you got
me brought in the whole Belichick thing and tried to
try to pin that one on me, and it's like,
got me all off my game, and I just can't that.
I want. I want to be pleasant, I want to
be funny. I can't do that right now.

Okay, Wow, I didn't think Christian Watson would be where
you would put a stand on. But okay, Christian Watson.

I wasn't really the transition I was looking for, But
it somehow made its way into it. I guess Watson,
I mean, Watson does define I got. Yeah, it's mediocre. Okay,
I'll go with that.

But you just want to disagree with me because you're
upset that I'm happy because the Knicks are going to
win the NBA Finals. You're like to take him, can't.

I am so angry with this. God, they blew a forward.
I'm watched. I was, I was out with my four
buddies and we were watching this game. I'm like the
one Knicks fan in the group who just he he
was shut up for two quarters and then all of
a sudden he just starts whooping it up again. And
just there's nothing more insulf insufferable than a Knicks Jets fan.

That's just man. You saw the mess in there too.
I mean like it's just Joker Joker, It's a triple
I mean, it's just it's so awful.

Oh yeah, because everybody that's that's under the age of
fifty got that reference.
Speaker 3 (03:12):
Yeah, okay, exactly, they did. They absolutely anybody under under
you know, watched the Jokers wild because there's got to
be on one of those. It's got to be on
one of these stations during replace.

I guarantee you Monson has never seen the Jokers.

That is great game show television, absolutely fabulous. It's better
than Christian Watson as a wide receiver. Let's just say that.

I've never seen Jokers wild, but I did see a
lot of Russell Wilson. Russell Wilson finally retiring after Finally,
that sounded bad after fourteen.

Right, I mean like that that sounded worse, and it

Right now, you're you, you don't know, don't just own it.

So just finally, don't after try, don't try and walk
it back. Finally, thank god, mystery is over. The the
he was going down the mcnabs swirl of fon into hell.
It was just awful. I mean, he's like, this is
the guy who has truly almost played his way to

out of the Hall of Fame. Let me argue this
point with with Russell Wilson. If Russell Wilson makes that
one play and they win the Super Bowl for the
second time, does he go to the Hall of Fame.

I think he's going anyway, Yeah, I think he's going.
It might take him maybe not the first on the
first ballop. I think he's going anyway you do.
Speaker 3 (04:45):
Yeah, let me just tell you this. And under this
voting system that we currently have, and I'm not saying
that it's not going to change again, but under this
voting system that we have, we they are like getting
Eli Manning into the Hall of Fame is going to

take like an Act of Congress, you know, I mean
it's gonna be I mean, he's not Eli Manning's not
sniffing the Hall of Fame this decade. Right, It's going
to take into the twenty thirties and probably fairly deep
into the twenty thirties for him to make it. And
you think that Russell Wilson's going to jump him that easily,

I just don't see it. Yeah. Not. You know, you
still got a couple other quarterbacks coming down the line
with Roethlisberger, you still got Rogers coming down the line,
I mean, Russell Wilson. And let's just say this, for
ten solid years, Russell Wilson put up some great numbers
that should have made him an easy candidate, okay to

get in, But you've stunk for four years. I mean stunk.
You've been awful. You became, you know, worse than a journeyman, right,
and you're just kind of wumping off the off the
field right now. I do think that he's jeopardized his
chances with the way he's played. So I don't know
(06:09):
that I'm buy into him being a Hall of Famer
no matter what.
Speaker 1 (06:13):
So if he retired five years ago, he'd be more
of a Hall of Famer.
Speaker 3 (06:17):
Yes's And that's the weird thing. I mean, you know,
it sounds weird, and maybe it's got a flawed argument, okay,
but you can play so badly, especially when you're the
one who demanded your way out. I remember, you know,
it wasn't that you know, he fell apart and that

we're injuries and doubts and things just kind of hit
a tailspin sort of like you know, the middle of
Kurt Warner's career where there was this big you know,
he's dealing with a bunch of injuries, just never could
get healthy. It was a setup man for Eli Manning
for a year, you know, all those things that happened
to him, and then he had his renaissance at the

end of his career or you know, the second act
of Kurt Warner. This was an affirmative action by by
Russell Wilson saying, I want out of Seattle because I
not need to go be a star somewhere else. And
it wasn't that he wasn't a star. He was awful,
and I mean he was awful for two different coaches.

He took the you know, he took an organization, you know,
down to death squirrel, and then he went on and
became a journeyman. It wasn't a very good one for
the last couple of years. So to me, he's like, yeah,
you can play your way out of it. And I'll
say this, if he had made that one pass, or
if you had just handed the ball to Marshawn Linz

and said Marshawn go, and we could live off of
the great drive that set up that touchdown, right, Because
it was a great drive to set up the touchdown
or set up the eventual play, right. It was a
really magnificent drive. If he had just lived off of that,
then yeah, I think he waltzes into the Hall of Fame.
But I think that one play is a turning point

for him because you're going to have a lot of
guys on that team who are going to trash him, right,
Like a lot of the guys out of Seattle are
going to say, no, no, no, you don't understand. He
wasn't that good. He got carried by the defense number
one and number two, and despite whatever the stats say,
that's going to be the argument against Russell Wilson as
we get closer and closer, because let's just say this,

he doesn't have a lot of friends out of that
Seattle team.

I was going to say before we moved on, were
you surprised because I did not see Sean Payton in
that video?
Speaker 4 (08:44):
Something I didn't see.

I think there was a four away image maybe of

Team, way way way back at Sherman. Sherman's like way
off in the distance, like waving. Yeah, he wasn't doing
like a hey h good luck. Al It was none
of that. Okay that those aren't Those aren't the guys
who are going to be friends. Let's just say that.
I just I think that I think it's going to

be an interesting case. I'm not saying he's not gonna
make it. And to me, there is a ten year
block of production. That's pretty that's pretty you know, pretty great.
But like I said, like Eli Manning is not even
close right now, and Eli Manning's going backwards and he's

got two titles and you know a lot of pretty
strong plays, not as strong numerically as Russell Wilson, but
it's two titles versus one. And it's one of the
biggest blunders in Super Bowl history. Is that is that
interception and then the falling action of that career is
just I mean, it's it's it's it is McNabb esque.

the Clippers? I mean, you're in LA. You could have
been the Lakers were winning when you were growing up, right,

what you were growing it was like the Golden age
of Shaq and Kobe, and you picked the Clippers.

Yeah, I mean I didn't pick anything. I was forced.

That's all I ever knew.

And it's like, if you're gonna be a fan of
a team, imagine not being able to go watch them.

that was a driving force into it. But because of that,
it's like I grew up watching just everybody, like I think.
I feel like I've mentioned it too, Like my dad
loved John Stockton and the Utah Jazz and it was

like I grew up watching that. One of my brothers
loved Charles Barkley, so we watched a lot of him.
The other one loved Michael Jordan's so it was even
though we were Clipper fans, it was more.

Than they were.

So your brothers wore long shorts and your dad wore short.
Speaker 4 (15:52):
Shorts, you know what.

Okay, yes, for the most part, but one of my
brothers is a soccer player.

Worn short shorts, or at least shorter shorts, you know
what I'm saying. Yeah, so yes, one of them is
played in But you're right that dad's always worn short
shorts because of the time that he liked basketball, they
were wearing shorts shorts, and he's a soccer player too,
so that's all they've known.

Well, I'm sorry, uh, to Monsie's parents, I'm sorry that

another team and make your own choices. No, I feel
I almost feel like you're one of those stories where

Like I just know there's another team called the Lakers.

I just thought that was like a minor league basketball team.
I don't know why people talked about them. I was
not told this. I was kind of life am I
growing up with.

I thought it was just the Sparks. I thought that
was the yellow team inside Stable Center.

What do you mean it's not just the Sparks.

I did a lot of hate Laker watching though.

still watching, you know, and it's fun.

Yep. So we got more basketball on the way. But
we want to bring you this breaking story that's about
You're twenty five minutes old right now. Aaron Judge has
been missing from the Yankee lineup for the better part
of the last three days. It has been real mysterious,
right like everything and everything in the New York Post
has been next, next, next, next, Amen, Aaron Judge hasn't
(17:22):
been playing. Man, This is really weird, and now we
know why. And it is not great news. As Aaron
Judge diagnosed with a stress fracture of the first rib
on his right side, the team making in a statement
saying he is expected to return this season, which is
never a great comment to make. I mean, it's not
(17:43):
as bad as out for the season, but when you
say he's expected to return this season, you know that
means he ain't coming back for a while. And right now,
the earliest time frame for Aaron Judge to come back,
he's not gonna undergo more imaging for another four to
six weeks to see where the level of his healing is,
and then see where he's at after there. So if
(18:05):
he gets a thoracic outlet diagnosis, that could have knocked
him out for the rest of the year, but instead
the Yankee statement is he's expected to return at some
point this season. Again, not great, not the absolute worst,
but now you're looking at August for Aaron Judge to
come back. In the last three days have been crowded
in a mystery for him. No one knew why he
was discomfort, why you had so much discomfort and sat
(18:26):
out And finally this is what they've come back with.
And this is the second time he's had a stress
fracture of one of his ribs. That happened about five
or six years ago in a game. So now the
Yankees are without Aaron Judge, and I don't know that
we're not gonna see to try to push this forward
now with Aaron Judge coming back this year. Okay, now
you look at him coming back potentially in August, that's
a great thing. We talked to John Palmrosi every week
(18:50):
and one of the questions I asked in this week,
I said, hey, it's a late trade deadline this year,
there seems to be you know, it's not until teams
get through about game one twelve or one thirteen, right,
so it's a very late deadlist. Now you're looking at
the players you're getting, you're getting them for maybe fifty games. Right,
So are we gonna see a team or team say hey,
(19:11):
we're just not gonna wait until the deadline. We're gonna
kind of jump ahead to grab a player that we
want to and maybe we jump start the deadline instead
of waiting all the way till the end of July.
We could see some trade sooner. And John palm Broch said, yeah,
you could see a couple of teams there that especially,
they think they're contenders, they want to make a move.
But I think, honestly, this is gonna accelerate that period
(19:33):
because the Yankees are not gonna be able to survive
at the top of the Al East without Aaron Judge.
They're already chasing the Rays, and the Rays are having
a pretty good year. The Yankees are only a couple
of games out in the loss column, but the Rays
aren't going anywhere luckily for them. It's a bad division.
But if you're the Yankees, you can't rely on just
(19:57):
right thy more soda. You can't rely on just hanging
around because it's not like you're missing one of your hitters.
You're missing Aaron Joe, missing the guy that makes the
entire offense go. I think they gotta make a move early,
get a big hitter to come in that can that
can help keep the things afloat. Then you get Judged
back and it's like he's the big move you make
(20:17):
at the deadline. You're getting Aaron Judge back for the
better part of August in September.
Speaker 5 (20:21):
Yankees absolutely have to make a move because their offense
is not good. Like the only reason that the Yankees,
I think, feel like there's a chance is because the
al sucks and their pitching is doing really well, especially
with Garrett Cole back. But you need Aaron Judge in
that lineup.
Speaker 4 (20:40):
It sucks a couple of reasons, Like, right, the first
thing I thought of was like, oh, he's not gonna
win the MVP. We're not gonna have Aaron Judge and
Shoheo Tani again as the.
Speaker 5 (20:48):
MVPs, which I feel like, you know, after last year,
we were probably like, what's probably gonna be the situation
for the next two to three years, like this is
just gonna be the MVPs.
Speaker 4 (20:57):
So unfortunately, Like that's one of the things that I
thought of.
Speaker 5 (21:00):
The Yankees have to make a move for like for
a player that just makes consistent hit, it makes it
consistently hits the ball.
Speaker 4 (21:08):
I don't They don't need somebody who's like a home
run hitter.
Speaker 5 (21:11):
They gotta go talk to teams like no offense to
Brandon's Angels, but the Angels, the Angels have a couple
of players that can maybe go and do some consistent hitting.
Speaker 4 (21:21):
For the Yankees, they gotta go talk to like the Angels.
Speaker 5 (21:24):
They gotta go talk to those teams that really have
no hope to see what they can what they can
get because the teams that are in contention. If I'm
a team in contention, I am not helping the Yankees.
Speaker 4 (21:34):
There's no way. There's no way.
Speaker 1 (21:36):
It's kinda thing, is every but the thing is, manci
everybody loves the Yankees prospects like it doesn't matter who
they are. Everybody thinks that, well, the Yankees and Dodgers.
Yankees and Dodgers, they think these prospects are the greatest
in the world. Now, maybe they're good, maybe they're okay.
Maybe you don't know until guys get on the field.
But it doesn't matter because everybody wants the Yankees prospects.
It's like me seeing like a really big pizza that
(21:58):
gets put on the table. Up, I gotta have that pizza,
you know, if it's any good, Yeah, I gotta have it.
It's that's a great look at pizza right there. Like
Yankees prospects, people feel differently about them, differently about Dodgers prospects.
They feel, oh, they come up in a great system.
These guys are gonna be stars. Yeah. Yeah, Yeah, that's
why the Yankees be able to make trade so much because, yeah,
you would think that people wouldn't want to trade help
(22:19):
the Yankees, especially within the American League, but their prospects
are so well sought after. We may be getting a
superstar player here that we have under team control for
a long time. Yeah, let's make it move. It's what
the Dodgers'll be able to make trades the entire time,
all their prospects. Yeah, we'll trade Gavin Loocks, We'll trade
these guys. Doesn't matter. So there's a couple of teams
out there that bank and rely on the fact that
the image of their farm system is so great teams
(22:43):
can't help themselves but want to trade with us.
Speaker 5 (22:46):
I you know, I know, I'm a Dodger fan, but
I feel like lately our farm system actually hasn't been
that great in the sense that the players that have
been traded have not had successful careers once they leave
the Dodgers.
Speaker 4 (22:58):
So is it the Dodgers, is it the farm system?
Is it the culture? I don't know, but I hear.
I hear what you're saying.
Speaker 5 (23:05):
And this is probably why I can never be an owner,
because I'd be too petty and I'd be like, who
wants to trade?
Speaker 4 (23:10):
No, don't call me, I don't care. I'm not helping
the Yankees.
Speaker 5 (23:12):
I wouldn't help any team that is a contender that
can that can make my life more difficult.
Speaker 4 (23:18):
But I hear what you're saying.

So maybe they can make a move with the contending
team that can give them even more establish it or
I'm just like you, guys, gotta go get somebody that's
gonna consistently hit the ball for you to even just move,
you know, players from one base to the next. I
can't the way baseball is now nowadays, like Luis aries
to me, like, I don't understand how we don't have
more Louis arises. That is the type of player everyone
(23:41):
should want on their team. He's gonna make contact. He's
not gonna hit home runs, but he's gonna make contact
and get on base more often than not. And instead
we're looking for all these Oh look at the batter,
this the speed of the bat in this and Fernando
Tattis Junior's home run in this home run.

I don't care about that.

I want a guy who could just get on base,
somebody who's gonna hit the BA consistently.
Speaker 4 (24:01):
That's what they should be looking for.

And I feel like maybe a team like the Angels
can give them something like that, because the Angels have
had a couple of good games.

It's just they can't.

a couple of times in the playoffs, they've had some time,

beat good teams. So I'm saying like there is talent there,
there is talent within the Angels. Is just the Angels,
so they can only do soon.

It's just the end. Mean, Look, the American League being
bad as you're right, because the AL West is terrible.
You have one team over five hundred, and the Manons
have been playing well the last couple of weeks. So now, okay,
so they're the team. They're over five hundred. The other
teams are all just kind of hanging out. Even the
Central is not great. Look, the White Sox are still
two games out of first place. But but it would

be one thing if it was a bat, Like if
you were missing Stanton, you're missing. It's one thing to say, hey,
we're missing a big hitter, like you know, all right,
we'll try to stay afloat. We're gonna move guys around. No,
you do. You don't get around working around the best
hitter in the American League right and and by anybody's metric,
at worst, the second best hitter in all of baseball,
right like you you're not just gonna say yeah, we'll
(25:22):
stay a float. No, you stay afloat with with with without,
you know, could stay afloat without Ben Rice. You can
stay a float without you know, a bunch of different plays.
You can't stay afloat without Aaron Judge that the guy
makes the entire offense going. There's a reason why you know,
we're talking about in the Mount rushmore great Yankees. With
the end of his playing days, he's gonna be on it.
Like it's one thing to say to look and say, well,
(25:43):
you look at the al it's not that great. We
hang around here for the next you know, two months
or so, But this is you are losing the best
hitter in the lineup. You're losing the best hitter in
the American League. Like you can't just say, well, we're
gonna try to move around this, Like that's a guy
you have to go out and replace at some way,
some level. You have to go out and replace them.
Speaker 4 (26:00):
Yeah, and let's not even forget what he does in
right field.
Speaker 5 (26:02):
Like I know, I know that the Yankees need him
for offensive purposes more than anything because they've just had
a bad a bad in and out is how the
season has gone for them. When it comes to their offense.
But what he does in right field is still so
every time every time anybody tries to steal third base
on Aaron Judge, he throws them out from right field.

It's like, you cannot steal third base from Aaron Judge.

Joe can't put him in center field in the World Series.

Yeah, he's gotten bass past the worst play he'll ever make.

Yeah, they have to, like the Yankees, Like, there's no
way you could just sit back and say, yeah, are
gonna piece meal things together? No, no, don't do that,
and especially since his return is not even guaranteed, Like, Okay,
there's enough season left where Okay, he's coming back in August.
It's where we expect him back. But whenever you're talking
about a guy is gonna be out and you're talking about,
you know, two months, two plus months before the guy

can return, you're not. This is not an exact science,
This isn't Hey, we're putting him on the IL for
ten days. We expect him back. He's gonna he's gonna
get back with the team on Thursday, he's gonna gear
gear up. We're looking him to come back on Wednesday
the following week, Like this is yeah, I'll be reevaluated. Yeah, no, no, no,
because what if something happens he doesn't come back. What
if he can't come back in August, it is not
(27:37):
till September. You don't want to give away a season
where potentially, despite the fact you've been up and down
and now your pitching is really good, you don't want
to give that away, especially here the American League is
so weak, Like they gotta make a move, and I
think that'll jump start the trade deadline, because once the
Yankees make a move for somebody, somebody else is gonna
do it. Somebody else will do it, and then we're
not gonna sit here and wait till the very very
(27:57):
end to see teams make trades.

And what's super sucks out this injury is that he
he can't do anything, like he has to take it
so easy in order for him to be able to
say in four to six weeks that he's progressing will
So it's not like one of those injuries where he's
going to be able to work on something else while
he's getting better. He's gonna have to like do nothing,
and that's hard.

And then come on, I could do that. I could
do nothing every day really well, like I gret it
that I have a hall of favor of doing nothing
every day. But but but but you know, but he's
a he's a you know, he's an athlete.

So it's tougher, it's exactly exactly.

And then come August and then all of a sudden,
he's going he isn't He's in such a tough position
because as stars get criticized because there are stars, rightfully,
So if he comes back in August and the Yankees
managed to stay afloat without him, and then it takes
him a minute to get back in a groove, it's
going to be so rough.

So he's got so much, he's gonna have to do
so much. I feel bad for Aaron Judge, but hopefully,
hopefully it's just four to six weeks and we'll see

a one to one series, now you're just like good
because if they would have imagine if they would have
gone down. And then Golden Knights are playing the next
two games at home. Nobody wanted to see that.

So they did it for the sake of notches for you,
but the sake of hockey. That's how big that win was.
You know what you're saying.

You're looking at two teams in the NBA and the
NHL that are this or at or were this close
to going. Hey, these teams are gonna lose their first
two games on their home floor slast weeks and all
of a sudden, these long series could be over by Wednesday.

And so now we're getting ready out for the Knicks.

If the Knicks win, Jason, do you think we're gonna
see a bunch of like babies who were born and
they're gonna be called Nicholas.

speaking of this series, right, we're getting ready for Game
two tomorrow night. Again, it's it's one game away potentially
being over. Nicks win tomorrow night. That's it. All of
you experts and inside want to say, oh long series. Yeah,
(34:42):
understand how dominant the Knicks have been. They won game
won by ten points. They win tomorrow, the series is over. Okay,
just get that. But before the NBA Finals began, you know,
we talked about how which team I'd rather face if
I'm the Knicks, the Spurs of the Thunder, And I said, easy,
I'm not even gonna try to hide it. I'd much
rather play the Thunder because there's a couple of reasons.
(35:03):
Number One, the Thunder are a bad matchup for the Knicks.
They are a team that had just won the title
last year. They're pretty deep. Why would I want a
piece of the Thunder and and MVP SGA and the
two reasons I gave you Wi I'd rather have the Spurs.
Not only did we see it, it come through in
a big way in Game one. I don't see a
(35:25):
way where the Spurs can solve it for Game two. Right,
the two reasons I gave you Number one is that
you look at the youth of the Spurs, which can
be great until the weight of the entire world is
on you and then suddenly we have never been through
this at all. Right, like the Thunder they just went
through this last year. It's old hat for them. Yeah,
(35:45):
we get to the finals, the Knicks are going to
be the starry eyed team. We're gonna be the team
that we know what it takes to win a title.
Look everybody on the team last year one, everybody who
came back this year. Yeah, I did not want a
part of that. I did not want a part of
that raucous atmosphere one in Game two in Oklahoma City,
where hey, we're just gonna just completely keep you on edge,
and we're gonna get our guy to the free throw
(36:07):
line every five seconds. And suddenly the Knicks are going
home down to zip and basically that ends the series.
The youth of the Spurs and and it's it's great,
and you can run all the way through on youth
and and and and be terrific and win a lot
of rounds in the place. When you get to the finals,
it's something different and it's hard to handle a moment.
Whereas now compare it to the Knicks. Now, the Knicks
(36:29):
look like the old hands because they've at least made
it to the Eastern Conference finals the last couple of years. Yes,
they had the horrible losses, but this is a team
that's been through a lot of wars. They understand what
it is when the when, when the attention is on
you playing in New York. And now they're the ones that, hey,
we are focused, we know what we need to do.
And you look at the end of the game last night.
You know Wemby wants to says, no problem, no problem.
(36:50):
You get to the final four minutes. The Knicks know
what their offense is gonna be. Jalen Brunson, but we
have options for the for the Spurs, what's your offense
is it? Wemby? It's it's tough to have a big beer,
go to guy down the stretch, especially getting him the
ball where he can do damage. And when your guard
play is not great, And and you saw Daron Fox
(37:11):
play terribly in the second half, Dylan Harper barely play
after a really good first aft. That's gonna probably change
tomorrow night. I'm sure Dylan Harper's gonna get a lot
more time. But like, who's gonna take those shots? Who's
gonna be the closer for the Spurs, Like you want
to think it's gonna be Wendy, but it's a little harder,
like the when the Lakers won their titles, Like Shaq
was never the closer because you couldn't put him on
the free throw line he's got, you couldn't give him
(37:32):
the ball at the end of games, right the same
thing for the For the Golden State Warriors, Steph couldn't
close because he couldn't get his own shot in the
final two minutes of games. That was a problem right now.
Luckily for Golden State they went and got Kevin Durant
MVP of a couple of finals. Hey, everything's awesome, but
you know you now compare and contrast. Suddenly, the youth
of the Spurs is a real issue because when you're
(37:54):
not unconsciously taking threes and in the flow of your offense,
and you're up by five, up by seven, up by ten,
and it becomes much more difficult. And if these games
are close in the final four minutes, the Knicks have
a huge advantage. And that was that was the first
thing on display last night.
Speaker 5 (38:09):
So I I hear what you're saying. I will tell
you you're right. The best the closer on that court
is Jalen Brunson. You're one hundred percent right. That is
the closer, whether Jalen Brunson is having a good game
or not.
Speaker 1 (38:22):
And it isn't your Brunson T shirt, by the way,
how you ordered one?
Speaker 4 (38:24):
I know it hasn't come in yet. It's supposed to.
Speaker 5 (38:26):
It's supposed I ordered it I think Saturday night, and
it's it's it's it's on its way from I think Texas.
Speaker 1 (38:32):
I don't know if I should say this, but like
at twelve thirty Saturday night, you texted me that you
and your boyfriend and a bartender ordered Brunson jerseys, uh,
you know, last So I'm like, wow, Okay, that's a
that's a text. That that's a text. I wasn't expecting
to get a twelve thirty at night.
Speaker 5 (38:50):
Yeah, it was wait, my god, Uh.
Speaker 1 (38:52):
You're right, No, no, I mean it was fine. It
was I'm not expecting that. I guess Wantcey's getting her
brunts and jersey. Okay, that's great.
Speaker 5 (38:58):
I was like, oh for a Winfrey for us. I
was gonna get just myself for sure. And I was like,
you get a shirt, you get a sure. And so
the boyfriend got to Carl Anthony Towns's shirt. But my
friend Candace she also got. We didn't get the same
Jalen Brunson shirt, but she got a Brunson shirt. So
we're all very excited. She texted me yesterday she was like, oh,
I had the Knicks.
Speaker 1 (39:15):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (39:16):
She's also not a Knicks fan.
Speaker 5 (39:17):
She's just become a Knicks fan, which is what's great,
as so many people have become. Jalen Brunson is the closer.
He is mister Clutch for a reason. So there that
is the closer on the court. I agree with you,
but what I have seen the Spurs in this playoff
run is that they have adjusted well after losing a game.
I do think that they were unprepared for the physicality
(39:42):
that the New York Knicks were going to bring to
the court, because the Thunder are fast, but they're not physical.
You could say Lou Door is a bit physical and
a bit of a bully. But aside from that, the
Thunder just play fast and they're you know, fluid and
that that's kind of how they play and they win.
Speaker 4 (40:02):
They're not gonna go and beat you up. They're not
gonna go bully you. The Knicks, they're fast, they're also
gonna bully you. And what did I tell you yesterday?
Speaker 5 (40:09):
When I was watching them, I was like, I didn't
realize how much length the Knicks have in comparison to
the Thunder, because I thought they had length. But then
I look at the Knicks and it's like every single
pass that the Spurs were trying to get across, it
was like the Knicks hands were an inch away from
deflecting it. Their hands are all over the place. So
(40:30):
I don't think the Spurs the Spurs were prepared for that. Granted,
a seven game series against the Thunder when the Knicks
were on vacation in Cancun for eleven days before having
to play.
Speaker 4 (40:39):
Again, but I don't think they were prepared where they
may be tired. Maybe that's a factor.
Speaker 5 (40:45):
But I do see the Spurs coming out in Game
two at home and being prepared for what the Knicks
can do. Assume Jalen Brnson is gonna better, but at
the same time, assume Wemby's gonna be better, and that
Darren Fox is gonna be better.
Speaker 4 (40:58):
It's in there. Can they win four games?
Speaker 5 (41:02):
I don't think so, but I do. I'm not gonna
lie to you. I think the Spurs can win Game two, Jason.
I just have seen them make the right changes after
losses throughout this postseason, so I expect them to do
it at least for Game two early on, when there's
the hope is still there, Like once that hope is gone,
like if you crush their hearts and their souls. If
(41:23):
the Knicks come out and beat the Spurs in Game two,
that hope is gonna be gone. I don't think the
hope is gone yet. You get what I'm saying by
the Spurs.
Speaker 1 (41:34):
Yeah, No, I get it, and I and I would
generally if this was a different Knicks team, I would
agree with you. But this is a Knicks team that
smells blood. This is not going to be a team
that's happy to go and get one out of two
going home one one. This is the team they want
to go home to ZIP and they know and it's
not like they escape Game one. Hey we got lucky,
(41:56):
we got a couple of foul calls. Got they know
they didn't get any foul calls, but they they withstood
a fourteen point lead and they and they won by
ten like this is this is very similar to me
of Game one against the Cavaliers where it was a
twenty two point lead with seven minutes left to go,
which is a much bigger comeback obviously, but after that
the series wasn't even competitive, right like them, Like the
(42:17):
Cavs were done after that, and the Spurs are a
better team. But you gotta wondermenttally, what did that do
to the Spurs where we had a fourteen point Like
Wenby wants to blow it off and do everything's fine,
Everything's fine? Is it fine? I don't know that it's fine, man,
because I know the Knicks are gonna come out tomorrow
and they're gonna give you the first ten minutes of
the game, like they want to win it in the
first ten minutes of the game if it was a
different Knicks team or a different team where I thought, yeah,
(42:39):
we're happy won one, and it's gonna be the Spurs
by forty and they're gonna get out to a twenty
point lead at halftime. The Knicks are gonna put it away.
That is not this Knicks team, man, That is not.
I feel just as good about them winning Game two
as it did about them winning Game one.
Speaker 4 (42:55):
Yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 5 (42:55):
I don't know if I agree with really, I just
feel like the Spurs, the Spurs have made the right
a joct Mitch Johnson. There was quite like, as you mentioned,
I don't know why Dylan Harper didn't really play in
the second half when he was the leading scorer after
the first quarter. Julian CHAMPENNI, you know, was hot in
the first half and cooled down. Obviously, the Spurs they
if Wemby is struggling, it's contagious. You start to feel
(43:18):
a little bit of the desperation. And so if Wemby
comes out and he starts hitting, and he came out
not bad like he hit some shots in the first quarter,
but then it did not stay that way for Wemby.
If Wemby comes out and he starts playing well. I
think it's gonna ease the nerves for the Spurs.
Speaker 4 (43:36):
Because they know it. They know it's it's gonna be
all all all on Wemby.
Speaker 5 (43:41):
They win with Wemby, and they lose in a way
because of Wemby. He's got so much going on his shoulder.
He's got so much on his shoulders.
Speaker 4 (43:49):
With the Knicks, it's like the Knicks.
Speaker 5 (43:50):
There you had Josh Hart who only took I think
I think three shots five shots max.
Speaker 4 (43:55):
But what was he doing?

He was doing everything else, Like the Knicks don't seem
phased five he really he I mean he had more
than Wemby. He had more than Wemby. And so the Knicks,
because like you just said, they've been there before. They're
not phased by someone having like a bad game.
Speaker 4 (44:12):
They don't seem phase by it. They just keep playing.
The Spurs the inexperienced.
Speaker 5 (44:16):
Shows and I saw it, and I've seen it throughout
the postseason, but they seem to pick it up. And
as long as Oneby comes out and it starts the
game right, I feel like the Spurs can get a win.
Speaker 4 (44:28):
The Knicks are the Knicks look like the better team.
Speaker 5 (44:31):
The Knicks look like they are very close to winning
this NBA Finals.

I just don't know if they bring out the brooms.

Eli Manning into the Hall of Fame is going to

it's gonna be I mean, he's not Eli Manning's not
sniffing the Hall of Fame this decade. Right, It's going
to take into the twenty thirties and probably fairly deep
into the twenty thirties for him to make it. And
you think that Russell Wilson's going to jump him that easily,

I just don't see it. Yeah. Not. You know, you
still got a couple other quarterbacks coming down the line
with Roethlisberger, you still got Rogers coming down the line,
I mean, Russell Wilson. And let's just say this, for
ten solid years, Russell Wilson put up some great numbers
that should have made him an easy candidate, okay to

get in, But you've stunk for four years. I mean stunk.
You've been awful. You became, you know, worse than a journeyman, right,
and you're just kind of wumping off the off the
field right now. I do think that he's jeopardized his
chances with the way he's played. So I don't know

that I'm buy into him being a Hall of Famer
no matter what.

So if he retired five years ago, he'd be more
of a Hall of Famer.

Yes's And that's the weird thing. I mean, you know,
it sounds weird, and maybe it's got a flawed argument, okay,
but you can play so badly, especially when you're the
one who demanded your way out. I remember, you know,
it wasn't that you know, he fell apart and that

we're injuries and doubts and things just kind of hit
a tailspin sort of like you know, the middle of
Kurt Warner's career where there was this big you know,
he's dealing with a bunch of injuries, just never could
get healthy. It was a setup man for Eli Manning
for a year, you know, all those things that happened
to him, and then he had his renaissance at the

end of his career or you know, the second act
of Kurt Warner. This was an affirmative action by by
Russell Wilson saying, I want out of Seattle because I
not need to go be a star somewhere else. And
it wasn't that he wasn't a star. He was awful,
and I mean he was awful for two different coaches.

He took the you know, he took an organization, you know,
down to death squirrel, and then he went on and
became a journeyman. It wasn't a very good one for
the last couple of years. So to me, he's like, yeah,
you can play your way out of it. And I'll
say this, if he had made that one pass, or
if you had just handed the ball to Marshawn Linz

and said Marshawn go, and we could live off of
the great drive that set up that touchdown, right, Because
it was a great drive to set up the touchdown
or set up the eventual play, right. It was a
really magnificent drive. If he had just lived off of that,
then yeah, I think he waltzes into the Hall of Fame.
But I think that one play is a turning point

for him because you're going to have a lot of
guys on that team who are going to trash him, right,
Like a lot of the guys out of Seattle are
going to say, no, no, no, you don't understand. He
wasn't that good. He got carried by the defense number
one and number two, and despite whatever the stats say,
that's going to be the argument against Russell Wilson as
we get closer and closer, because let's just say this,

he doesn't have a lot of friends out of that
Seattle team.

close right now, and Eli Manning's going backwards and he's

strong plays, not as strong numerically as Russell Wilson, but
it's two titles versus one. And it's one of the
biggest blunders in Super Bowl history. Is that is that
interception and then the falling action of that career is

loved Charles Barkley, so we watched a lot of him.
The other one loved Michael Jordan's so it was even
though we were Clipper fans, it was more.

Yep. So we got more basketball on the way. But
we want to bring you this breaking story that's about
You're twenty five minutes old right now. Aaron Judge has
been missing from the Yankee lineup for the better part
of the last three days. It has been real mysterious,
right like everything and everything in the New York Post
has been next, next, next, next, Amen, Aaron Judge hasn't
(17:22):
been playing. Man, This is really weird, and now we
know why. And it is not great news. As Aaron
Judge diagnosed with a stress fracture of the first rib
on his right side, the team making in a statement
saying he is expected to return this season, which is
never a great comment to make. I mean, it's not
(17:43):
as bad as out for the season, but when you
say he's expected to return this season, you know that
means he ain't coming back for a while. And right now,
the earliest time frame for Aaron Judge to come back,
he's not gonna undergo more imaging for another four to
six weeks to see where the level of his healing is,
and then see where he's at after there. So if
(18:05):
he gets a thoracic outlet diagnosis, that could have knocked
him out for the rest of the year, but instead
the Yankee statement is he's expected to return at some
point this season. Again, not great, not the absolute worst,
but now you're looking at August for Aaron Judge to
come back. In the last three days have been crowded
in a mystery for him. No one knew why he
was discomfort, why you had so much discomfort and sat
(18:26):
out And finally this is what they've come back with.
And this is the second time he's had a stress
fracture of one of his ribs. That happened about five
or six years ago in a game. So now the
Yankees are without Aaron Judge, and I don't know that
we're not gonna see to try to push this forward
now with Aaron Judge coming back this year. Okay, now
you look at him coming back potentially in August, that's
a great thing. We talked to John Palmrosi every week
(18:50):
and one of the questions I asked in this week,
I said, hey, it's a late trade deadline this year,
there seems to be you know, it's not until teams
get through about game one twelve or one thirteen, right,
so it's a very late deadlist. Now you're looking at
the players you're getting, you're getting them for maybe fifty games. Right,
So are we gonna see a team or team say hey,
(19:11):
we're just not gonna wait until the deadline. We're gonna
kind of jump ahead to grab a player that we
want to and maybe we jump start the deadline instead
of waiting all the way till the end of July.
We could see some trade sooner. And John palm Broch said, yeah,
you could see a couple of teams there that especially,
they think they're contenders, they want to make a move.
But I think, honestly, this is gonna accelerate that period
(19:33):
because the Yankees are not gonna be able to survive
at the top of the Al East without Aaron Judge.
They're already chasing the Rays, and the Rays are having
a pretty good year. The Yankees are only a couple
of games out in the loss column, but the Rays
aren't going anywhere luckily for them. It's a bad division.
But if you're the Yankees, you can't rely on just
(19:57):
right thy more soda. You can't rely on just hanging
around because it's not like you're missing one of your hitters.
You're missing Aaron Joe, missing the guy that makes the
entire offense go. I think they gotta make a move early,
get a big hitter to come in that can that
can help keep the things afloat. Then you get Judged
back and it's like he's the big move you make
(20:17):
at the deadline. You're getting Aaron Judge back for the
better part of August in September.
Speaker 5 (20:21):
Yankees absolutely have to make a move because their offense
is not good. Like the only reason that the Yankees,
I think, feel like there's a chance is because the
al sucks and their pitching is doing really well, especially
with Garrett Cole back. But you need Aaron Judge in
that lineup.
Speaker 4 (20:40):
It sucks a couple of reasons, Like, right, the first
thing I thought of was like, oh, he's not gonna
win the MVP. We're not gonna have Aaron Judge and
Shoheo Tani again as the.
Speaker 5 (20:48):
MVPs, which I feel like, you know, after last year,
we were probably like, what's probably gonna be the situation
for the next two to three years, like this is
just gonna be the MVPs.
Speaker 4 (20:57):
So unfortunately, Like that's one of the things that I
thought of.

The Yankees have to make a move for like for
a player that just makes consistent hit, it makes it
consistently hits the ball.
Speaker 4 (21:08):
I don't They don't need somebody who's like a home
run hitter.
Speaker 5 (21:11):
They gotta go talk to teams like no offense to
Brandon's Angels, but the Angels, the Angels have a couple
of players that can maybe go and do some consistent hitting.

For the Yankees, they gotta go talk to like the Angels.
Speaker 5 (21:24):
They gotta go talk to those teams that really have
no hope to see what they can what they can
get because the teams that are in contention. If I'm
a team in contention, I am not helping the Yankees.

There's no way. There's no way.
Speaker 1 (21:36):
It's kinda thing, is every but the thing is, manci
everybody loves the Yankees prospects like it doesn't matter who
they are. Everybody thinks that, well, the Yankees and Dodgers.
Yankees and Dodgers, they think these prospects are the greatest
in the world. Now, maybe they're good, maybe they're okay.
Maybe you don't know until guys get on the field.
But it doesn't matter because everybody wants the Yankees prospects.
It's like me seeing like a really big pizza that

gets put on the table. Up, I gotta have that pizza,
you know, if it's any good, Yeah, I gotta have it.
It's that's a great look at pizza right there. Like
Yankees prospects, people feel differently about them, differently about Dodgers prospects.
They feel, oh, they come up in a great system.
These guys are gonna be stars. Yeah. Yeah, Yeah, that's
why the Yankees be able to make trade so much because, yeah,
you would think that people wouldn't want to trade help
(22:19):
the Yankees, especially within the American League, but their prospects
are so well sought after. We may be getting a
superstar player here that we have under team control for
a long time. Yeah, let's make it move. It's what
the Dodgers'll be able to make trades the entire time,
all their prospects. Yeah, we'll trade Gavin Loocks, We'll trade
these guys. Doesn't matter. So there's a couple of teams
out there that bank and rely on the fact that
the image of their farm system is so great teams
(22:43):
can't help themselves but want to trade with us.
Speaker 5 (22:46):
I you know, I know, I'm a Dodger fan, but
I feel like lately our farm system actually hasn't been
that great in the sense that the players that have
been traded have not had successful careers once they leave
the Dodgers.

So is it the Dodgers, is it the farm system?
Is it the culture? I don't know, but I hear.
I hear what you're saying.
Speaker 5 (23:05):
And this is probably why I can never be an owner,
because I'd be too petty and I'd be like, who
wants to trade?

No, don't call me, I don't care. I'm not helping
the Yankees.

I wouldn't help any team that is a contender that
can that can make my life more difficult.

So maybe they can make a move with the contending
team that can give them even more establish it or
I'm just like you, guys, gotta go get somebody that's
gonna consistently hit the ball for you to even just move,
you know, players from one base to the next. I
can't the way baseball is now nowadays, like Luis aries
to me, like, I don't understand how we don't have
more Louis arises. That is the type of player everyone

should want on their team. He's gonna make contact. He's
not gonna hit home runs, but he's gonna make contact
and get on base more often than not. And instead
we're looking for all these Oh look at the batter,
this the speed of the bat in this and Fernando
Tattis Junior's home run in this home run.

I don't care about that.

I want a guy who could just get on base,
somebody who's gonna hit the BA consistently.

That's what they should be looking for.

And I feel like maybe a team like the Angels
can give them something like that, because the Angels have
had a couple of good games.

It's just they can't.

Put enough games together, you know what I mean, to
actually make a dent on their wins and losses, because again,

The beginning of the show, The Knicks have won more
games since April twenty third than the Angels have. The Knicks, yeah,
they've had like they've had ten days off, you know,
a couple of times in the playoffs, they've had some time,
but the.

Angels have have well sorry, I mean'st The Angels have
beat good teams. So I'm saying like there is talent there,
there is talent within the Angels. Is just the Angels,
so they can only do soon.

It's just the end. Mean, Look, the American League being
bad as you're right, because the AL West is terrible.
You have one team over five hundred, and the Manons
have been playing well the last couple of weeks. So now, okay,
so they're the team. They're over five hundred. The other
teams are all just kind of hanging out. Even the
Central is not great. Look, the White Sox are still
two games out of first place. But but it would

be one thing if it was a bat, Like if
you were missing Stanton, you're missing. It's one thing to say, hey,
we're missing a big hitter, like you know, all right,
we'll try to stay afloat. We're gonna move guys around. No,
you do. You don't get around working around the best
hitter in the American League right and and by anybody's metric,
at worst, the second best hitter in all of baseball,
right like you you're not just gonna say yeah, we'll
(25:22):
stay a float. No, you stay afloat with with with without,
you know, could stay afloat without Ben Rice. You can
stay a float without you know, a bunch of different plays.
You can't stay afloat without Aaron Judge that the guy
makes the entire offense going. There's a reason why you know,
we're talking about in the Mount rushmore great Yankees. With
the end of his playing days, he's gonna be on it.
Like it's one thing to say to look and say, well,

you look at the al it's not that great. We
hang around here for the next you know, two months
or so, But this is you are losing the best
hitter in the lineup. You're losing the best hitter in
the American League. Like you can't just say, well, we're
gonna try to move around this, Like that's a guy
you have to go out and replace at some way,
some level. You have to go out and replace them.

Yeah, and let's not even forget what he does in
right field.

Like I know, I know that the Yankees need him
for offensive purposes more than anything because they've just had
a bad a bad in and out is how the
season has gone for them. When it comes to their offense.
But what he does in right field is still so
every time every time anybody tries to steal third base
on Aaron Judge, he throws them out from right field.

and especially since his return is not even guaranteed, Like, Okay,
there's enough season left where Okay, he's coming back in August.
It's where we expect him back. But whenever you're talking
about a guy is gonna be out and you're talking about,
you know, two months, two plus months before the guy

can return, you're not. This is not an exact science,
This isn't Hey, we're putting him on the IL for
ten days. We expect him back. He's gonna he's gonna
get back with the team on Thursday, he's gonna gear
gear up. We're looking him to come back on Wednesday
the following week, Like this is yeah, I'll be reevaluated. Yeah, no, no, no,
because what if something happens he doesn't come back. What
if he can't come back in August, it is not
(27:37):
till September. You don't want to give away a season
where potentially, despite the fact you've been up and down
and now your pitching is really good, you don't want
to give that away, especially here the American League is
so weak, Like they gotta make a move, and I
think that'll jump start the trade deadline, because once the
Yankees make a move for somebody, somebody else is gonna
do it. Somebody else will do it, and then we're
not gonna sit here and wait till the very very
(27:57):
end to see teams make trades.

And what's super sucks out this injury is that he
he can't do anything, like he has to take it
so easy in order for him to be able to
say in four to six weeks that he's progressing will
So it's not like one of those injuries where he's
going to be able to work on something else while
he's getting better. He's gonna have to like do nothing,
and that's hard.

And then come on, I could do that. I could
do nothing every day really well, like I gret it
that I have a hall of favor of doing nothing

And then come August and then all of a sudden,
he's going he isn't He's in such a tough position
because as stars get criticized because there are stars, rightfully,
So if he comes back in August and the Yankees
managed to stay afloat without him, and then it takes
him a minute to get back in a groove, it's
going to be so rough.

So he's got so much, he's gonna have to do
so much. I feel bad for Aaron Judge, but hopefully,
hopefully it's just four to six weeks and we'll see
him sooner rather than later.

And so to see them make the Stanley Cup now
a one to one series, now you're just like good
because if they would have imagine if they would have
gone down. And then Golden Knights are playing the next
two games at home. Nobody wanted to see that.

So they did it for the sake of notches for you,
but the sake of hockey. That's how big that win was.
You know what you're saying.
Speaker 1 (31:36):
You're looking at two teams in the NBA and the
NHL that are this or at or were this close
to going. Hey, these teams are gonna lose their first
two games on their home floor slast weeks and all
of a sudden, these long series could be over by Wednesday.

And so now we're getting ready out for the Knicks.

If the Knicks win, Jason, do you think we're gonna
see a bunch of like babies who were born and
they're gonna be called Nicholas.

But it's gonna be spelled like Nicks.

There's gonna be babies named Jalen. Wait till all the
babies named o g No, just wait all the babies

name is really yeah. See I feel that I wouldn't
want to see. That's the thing though. Then you're saddling
a kid with a really bad name, but he got it,
and then it just looks like the mix. Yeah, but
I mean, like, really it's Nicholas K and I.

I mean I think that's a great idea.

I mean, the first day of school has gotta go okay,
and uh is.

Okay? Why but well my dad was a Knicks fan.

Okay. So Brunson works, runts and works. Cat works, like

this doesn't work. But now I think the plan is
anybody who does have a child who is about eight

We need to do, because you're right, it's gotta be current.

I'm putting a K in front of my name, all right,
that's that's that's great, good, good, good good. Uh So,
speaking of this series, right, we're getting ready for Game
two tomorrow night. Again, it's it's one game away potentially
being over. Nicks win tomorrow night. That's it. All of
you experts and inside want to say, oh long series. Yeah,
(34:42):
understand how dominant the Knicks have been. They won game
won by ten points. They win tomorrow, the series is over. Okay,
just get that. But before the NBA Finals began, you know,
we talked about how which team I'd rather face if
I'm the Knicks, the Spurs of the Thunder, And I said, easy,
I'm not even gonna try to hide it. I'd much
rather play the Thunder because there's a couple of reasons.
(35:03):
Number One, the Thunder are a bad matchup for the Knicks.
They are a team that had just won the title
last year. They're pretty deep. Why would I want a
piece of the Thunder and and MVP SGA and the
two reasons I gave you Wi I'd rather have the Spurs.
Not only did we see it, it come through in
a big way in Game one. I don't see a
(35:25):
way where the Spurs can solve it for Game two. Right,
the two reasons I gave you Number one is that
you look at the youth of the Spurs, which can
be great until the weight of the entire world is
on you and then suddenly we have never been through
this at all. Right, like the Thunder they just went
through this last year. It's old hat for them. Yeah,
(35:45):
we get to the finals, the Knicks are going to
be the starry eyed team. We're gonna be the team
that we know what it takes to win a title.
Look everybody on the team last year one, everybody who
came back this year. Yeah, I did not want a
part of that. I did not want a part of
that raucous atmosphere one in Game two in Oklahoma City,
where hey, we're just gonna just completely keep you on edge,
and we're gonna get our guy to the free throw
(36:07):
line every five seconds. And suddenly the Knicks are going
home down to zip and basically that ends the series.
The youth of the Spurs and and it's it's great,
and you can run all the way through on youth
and and and and be terrific and win a lot
of rounds in the place. When you get to the finals,
it's something different and it's hard to handle a moment.
Whereas now compare it to the Knicks. Now, the Knicks
(36:29):
look like the old hands because they've at least made
it to the Eastern Conference finals the last couple of years. Yes,
they had the horrible losses, but this is a team
that's been through a lot of wars. They understand what
it is when the when, when the attention is on
you playing in New York. And now they're the ones that, hey,
we are focused, we know what we need to do.
And you look at the end of the game last night.
You know Wemby wants to says, no problem, no problem.
(36:50):
You get to the final four minutes. The Knicks know
what their offense is gonna be. Jalen Brunson, but we
have options for the for the Spurs, what's your offense
is it? Wemby? It's it's tough to have a big beer,
go to guy down the stretch, especially getting him the
ball where he can do damage. And when your guard
play is not great, And and you saw Daron Fox
(37:11):
play terribly in the second half, Dylan Harper barely play
after a really good first aft. That's gonna probably change
tomorrow night. I'm sure Dylan Harper's gonna get a lot
more time. But like, who's gonna take those shots? Who's
gonna be the closer for the Spurs, Like you want
to think it's gonna be Wendy, but it's a little harder,
like the when the Lakers won their titles, Like Shaq
was never the closer because you couldn't put him on
the free throw line he's got, you couldn't give him
(37:32):
the ball at the end of games, right the same
thing for the For the Golden State Warriors, Steph couldn't
close because he couldn't get his own shot in the
final two minutes of games. That was a problem right now.
Luckily for Golden State they went and got Kevin Durant
MVP of a couple of finals. Hey, everything's awesome, but
you know you now compare and contrast. Suddenly, the youth
of the Spurs is a real issue because when you're
(37:54):
not unconsciously taking threes and in the flow of your offense,
and you're up by five, up by seven, up by ten,
and it becomes much more difficult. And if these games
are close in the final four minutes, the Knicks have
a huge advantage. And that was that was the first
thing on display last night.
Speaker 5 (38:09):
So I I hear what you're saying. I will tell
you you're right. The best the closer on that court
is Jalen Brunson. You're one hundred percent right. That is
the closer, whether Jalen Brunson is having a good game
or not.
Speaker 1 (38:22):
And it isn't your Brunson T shirt, by the way,
how you ordered one?
Speaker 4 (38:24):
I know it hasn't come in yet. It's supposed to.
Speaker 5 (38:26):
It's supposed I ordered it I think Saturday night, and
it's it's it's it's on its way from I think Texas.
Speaker 1 (38:32):
I don't know if I should say this, but like
at twelve thirty Saturday night, you texted me that you
and your boyfriend and a bartender ordered Brunson jerseys, uh,
you know, last So I'm like, wow, Okay, that's a
that's a text. That that's a text. I wasn't expecting
to get a twelve thirty at night.
Speaker 5 (38:50):
Yeah, it was wait, my god, Uh.
Speaker 1 (38:52):
You're right, No, no, I mean it was fine. It
was I'm not expecting that. I guess Wantcey's getting her
brunts and jersey. Okay, that's great.
Speaker 5 (38:58):
I was like, oh for a Winfrey for us. I
was gonna get just myself for sure. And I was like,
you get a shirt, you get a sure. And so
the boyfriend got to Carl Anthony Towns's shirt. But my
friend Candace she also got. We didn't get the same
Jalen Brunson shirt, but she got a Brunson shirt. So
we're all very excited. She texted me yesterday she was like, oh,
I had the Knicks.
Speaker 1 (39:15):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (39:16):
She's also not a Knicks fan.
Speaker 5 (39:17):
She's just become a Knicks fan, which is what's great,
as so many people have become. Jalen Brunson is the closer.
He is mister Clutch for a reason. So there that
is the closer on the court. I agree with you,
but what I have seen the Spurs in this playoff
run is that they have adjusted well after losing a game.
I do think that they were unprepared for the physicality
(39:42):
that the New York Knicks were going to bring to
the court, because the Thunder are fast, but they're not physical.
You could say Lou Door is a bit physical and
a bit of a bully. But aside from that, the
Thunder just play fast and they're you know, fluid and
that that's kind of how they play and they win.
Speaker 4 (40:02):
They're not gonna go and beat you up. They're not
gonna go bully you. The Knicks, they're fast, they're also
gonna bully you. And what did I tell you yesterday?
Speaker 5 (40:09):
When I was watching them, I was like, I didn't
realize how much length the Knicks have in comparison to
the Thunder, because I thought they had length. But then
I look at the Knicks and it's like every single
pass that the Spurs were trying to get across, it
was like the Knicks hands were an inch away from
deflecting it. Their hands are all over the place. So
(40:30):
I don't think the Spurs the Spurs were prepared for that. Granted,
a seven game series against the Thunder when the Knicks
were on vacation in Cancun for eleven days before having
to play.
Speaker 4 (40:39):
Again, but I don't think they were prepared where they
may be tired. Maybe that's a factor.
Speaker 5 (40:45):
But I do see the Spurs coming out in Game
two at home and being prepared for what the Knicks
can do. Assume Jalen Brnson is gonna better, but at
the same time, assume Wemby's gonna be better, and that
Darren Fox is gonna be better.
Speaker 4 (40:58):
It's in there. Can they win four games?
Speaker 5 (41:02):
I don't think so, but I do. I'm not gonna
lie to you. I think the Spurs can win Game two, Jason.
I just have seen them make the right changes after
losses throughout this postseason, so I expect them to do
it at least for Game two early on, when there's
the hope is still there, Like once that hope is gone,
like if you crush their hearts and their souls. If
(41:23):
the Knicks come out and beat the Spurs in Game two,
that hope is gonna be gone. I don't think the
hope is gone yet. You get what I'm saying by
the Spurs.
Speaker 1 (41:34):
Yeah, No, I get it, and I and I would
generally if this was a different Knicks team, I would
agree with you. But this is a Knicks team that
smells blood. This is not going to be a team
that's happy to go and get one out of two
going home one one. This is the team they want
to go home to ZIP and they know and it's
not like they escape Game one. Hey we got lucky,
(41:56):
we got a couple of foul calls. Got they know
they didn't get any foul calls, but they they withstood
a fourteen point lead and they and they won by
ten like this is this is very similar to me
of Game one against the Cavaliers where it was a
twenty two point lead with seven minutes left to go,
which is a much bigger comeback obviously, but after that
the series wasn't even competitive, right like them, Like the
(42:17):
Cavs were done after that, and the Spurs are a
better team. But you gotta wondermenttally, what did that do
to the Spurs where we had a fourteen point Like
Wenby wants to blow it off and do everything's fine,
Everything's fine? Is it fine? I don't know that it's fine, man,
because I know the Knicks are gonna come out tomorrow
and they're gonna give you the first ten minutes of
the game, like they want to win it in the
first ten minutes of the game if it was a
different Knicks team or a different team where I thought, yeah,
(42:39):
we're happy won one, and it's gonna be the Spurs
by forty and they're gonna get out to a twenty
point lead at halftime. The Knicks are gonna put it away.
That is not this Knicks team, man, That is not.
I feel just as good about them winning Game two
as it did about them winning Game one.
Speaker 4 (42:55):
Yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 5 (42:55):
I don't know if I agree with really, I just
feel like the Spurs, the Spurs have made the right
a joct Mitch Johnson. There was quite like, as you mentioned,
I don't know why Dylan Harper didn't really play in
the second half when he was the leading scorer after
the first quarter. Julian CHAMPENNI, you know, was hot in
the first half and cooled down. Obviously, the Spurs they
if Wemby is struggling, it's contagious. You start to feel
(43:18):
a little bit of the desperation. And so if Wemby
comes out and he starts hitting, and he came out
not bad like he hit some shots in the first quarter,
but then it did not stay that way for Wemby.
If Wemby comes out and he starts playing well. I
think it's gonna ease the nerves for the Spurs.
Speaker 4 (43:36):
Because they know it. They know it's it's gonna be
all all all on Wemby.
Speaker 5 (43:41):
They win with Wemby, and they lose in a way
because of Wemby. He's got so much going on his shoulder.
He's got so much on his shoulders.
Speaker 4 (43:49):
With the Knicks, it's like the Knicks.
Speaker 5 (43:50):
There you had Josh Hart who only took I think
I think three shots five shots max.
Speaker 4 (43:55):
But what was he doing?
Speaker 5 (43:56):
He was doing everything else, Like the Knicks don't seem
phased five he really he I mean he had more
than Wemby. He had more than Wemby. And so the Knicks,
because like you just said, they've been there before. They're
not phased by someone having like a bad game.
Speaker 4 (44:12):
They don't seem phase by it. They just keep playing.
The Spurs the inexperienced.
Speaker 5 (44:16):
Shows and I saw it, and I've seen it throughout
the postseason, but they seem to pick it up. And
as long as Oneby comes out and it starts the
game right, I feel like the Spurs can get a win.
Speaker 4 (44:28):
The Knicks are the Knicks look like the better team.
Speaker 5 (44:31):
The Knicks look like they are very close to winning
this NBA Finals.
Speaker 4 (44:35):
I just don't know if they bring out the brooms.
