We have the Field of Dreams game. Yeah, but we
have night one, real night one of NFL action with real,
live players, some players who are actually starters playing. If
they're not starters, at least they're being interviewed. They're wearing

you could possibly hope for.

I mean, a Hall of Fame game gave us a

see another day? Man, it's preseason game one.

So in the midst of all the action, in the
middle of the night, right, we had six games tonight
and in the middle I mean, in the middle of
the night of action, it was, you know, three games,
and now we have three more games that are still
going on right now.

Any other NBA teams get sold.

Nobody else got sold, nobody else got sold. I think
that the Knicks are still the Knicks. Everything is still
as it is. Everybody's still solving, everybody, everybody's good, Everybody

we got lots of big quarterback stuff. I got admit
little upset that Carson Beck was not playing quarterback for
the Cardinals tonight.

was down graded today National Championship rematch.

In fact, I was. I really would be okay if
John Beck had played quarterback for the card That is
what you call a throwback right there. I'd be okay
if Barry Beck was playing quarterback tonight. What about Rod Beck?

did get day one of the Kirk Cousins. Fernando Mendoza,
a duel cousin starting for the Raiders tonight. Mendoza coming in,
still playing for them right now? How did it go
well so far tonight for Cousins and Mendoza they have
each family end zone. Fernando looking left across the metal clock.

it was so right Now third quarter is still it
sounds like everything great for the Raiders. No, they're losing
by two Touchdownyeah, they are seven fourteen Arizona with the lead. Look,
Jacoby Brissett started this game for them. Five out of
five throwing the football and a touchdown. Everything is okay
there for the Raiders. Kirk Cousins tonight five out of

six for fifty yards in a touchdown and so far
Fernando Mendoza six out of eleven fifty three yards in
a touchdown as well. First of all, I would like
to thank everybody who came around to our take from
a few days ago, and we told you, you know what,
the door is open for Fernando Mendoza to win this
job week one. We told you about before they even played.

The door is open, and now tonight Mendoza's played pretty well.
We'll break it down in a second, and I'm seeing
so many even earlier today on TV and everyone, Hey
mendo men, the Mendoza Era, the Mendoza Hey. Yeah again.
That's why I like to say we're ahead of the curve.
We told you a few days ago that if Fernando
Mendoza plays great in the preseason, it's irrelevant what Kirk
(05:56):
Cousins does. If Mendoza plays great, he will start Week
one because it will be an avalanche of support. If
the number one overall pick is ready, why are we
sitting him behind a guy that is now on his
third team in the last three years and signed to
be the backup after four weeks? What are we waiting
for when the soft part of our schedule is the
very beginning of the season, right, the Raiders start with
(06:17):
a really soft part of the schedule. What are we
waiting for tonight? So far, Fernando Mendoza has been terrific?
Has he been? Oh my goodness? He hasn't missed a throw. No,
He's tried to force a couple of plays, but overall,
his play action game is really good. Already you can
see it. He has made some big throws through for
the touchdown. Mendoza is what everybody hoped he would be
(06:40):
when he was drafted. I admit, am I nervous about
the guy. Yeah, because all the safeguards the Raiders have
put in place about him. It's like, guys, he's a
number one overall pick. He sinks three swims, right, that's
what you have to do. But so far, it's not
even a fact of where the game is not too
fast for Mendoza. This is now him trying to make
big play, keeping plays alive, like he got absolutely wrecked
(07:03):
on their last possession, trying to make something happen when okay,
you throw the ball away. But I'd rather have a
quarterback doing that than checking down throwing it short. Mendoza
looks every bit how the Raiders and the NFL hoped
and expected him to look. So so far, Kirk Cousins
has done nothing that. There is nothing tonight that tells me, oh,
(07:25):
Cousins gonna stay the quarterback. If Mendoza continues, he builds
on tonight. Now he's gotta have He's gotta have three
really good games, right. He can't have a game where ooh,
two out of nine an interception. His quarterback rating is
around forty. He has a game like that and suddenly
the Raiders are gonna say, Okay, maybe he's not quite ready,
but if he has three big games in the preseason,
he starts week one, and you know, it's like, have
(07:46):
that big check mark ready for game one, because what
he's done so far tonight, how he has looked, he
has looked absolutely ready to play check off week one.
For Fernando Mendoza, test one has been passed. Now he's
got two more.
Speaker 3 (07:58):
Okay, I'll uh, I'll give you that. I've seen a
couple of throws that I really like, couple across the middle.
Certainly that touchdown throw was a dart uh to a
diving to the end zone. Besh uh fantastic, You said
dart and diving in the same sense, said Jackson. Dart
did not slide tonight at all. He did not eat
just well to let you know it's not some sort
of thing. He did not slide it all today will
(08:18):
broadcast professionals. I'm painting a picture and people know that.

You know you're not talking about You're not making illusion illusions, Michael.

goes to extend to play and he kind of dances
towards the right, uh to the sideline, and it's literally
like a step and a half to go out about.
He holds on the ball and gets trunk like, no,
he's got to get rid, come on, get rid of
the ball. But it's okayes, my mom is not gonna

But that's one you live to see another day. But
that comes with learning. I also take it with a
grain of salt. It's the Arizona Cardinals whose first unit's
not supposed to be good, which means the second unit
probably that much worse. So I'm not downgrading what he's doing.
But but it's playing with the with the with the
top level, right. I mean he's also coming in with

the backups, and you can only do what you see
so far. And that's the thing is that you don't
want to postpone the future. He's gotta ace all three
of these tests, right, I mean, there's no doubt he
can't have a If he has one bad game in
the preseason's not happening. But like I told you, if
he has a great preseason, I know how the world works.
It's like it's like other people and team don't understand
(10:00):
how the world.

Oh, I know, he doesn't need to start at all. Yeah,
it's great to say that. In April and May and June,
you're sitting by a pool and you're doing a radio
interview or a podcast and you're saying, yeah, yeah, we
don't need to see this guy for you know, eight weeks.
Maybe again, Hey, if Kirk plays well, we don't see Mendoza.
In a perfect world, Fernando doesn't play, Yeah, and then
the footballs fly for real and all of a sudden,
you get to September first, and it's, oh man, we
(10:23):
got big decisions to make. We saw X, Y and
s it. I'm telling you, Matt. But he's if he
aces all these tests, it's fine and tonight. So far,
what I've seen, he has aced this time.
Speaker 3 (10:31):
It's the theory versus reality when it comes to this stuff,
because I'm old school to where if I can buy
a guy time to make sure he's acclimated, to make
sure I've solidified all of these support mechanisms that are
that should be in place for a young quarterback, I e.
He doesn't have five guys standing in front of because look,
Linda Brod's great, he was a great addition. There ain't
(10:52):
five of them. Okay, the rest of that line will
need to really haul ass and make sure that they
can keep him up upright throughout the season. But you've
got to test it and actually get game experience. I
understand it, Like you're both sides of the coin. I'd
love to see him and make sure since you did
bring in Kirk Cousins, you're not bold they him for
(11:14):
any real money. So whenever that part of the equation
comes into this, like no, Atlanta's paying the bulk of
the freight. Now they structured his deal oddly, but again
there's not a lot of substantive guaranteed money, good mentor
bring him along all of those things, best habits, best
practices kind of things. And for Fernando Mendoz, I mean
(11:36):
the only headline he's made this offseason is how he
actively avoids the strip. That's it like that. That's as
much as you're getting out of him in terms of
enticing details. Eventually, maybe we'll get his watch list for
whatever cartoons, anime or rom coms he's into. But where
it stands now, you've got skill position players. I'm just
(11:57):
still concerned about the offensive line. Now you open with
Miami and then the next week you got the Chargers.
Week four, you've got the Chiefs. So you've got Spagnola
and we look here what the Chargers defense should be
able to do. You're gonna get tested real early. It
doesn't mean I keep him away, but it's the idea
of I understand if you're looking at it from a
(12:18):
long haul perspective with Captain Kirk in the fold, but
you've also got a very thirsty fan base. His face
is all up and down Las Vegas Boulevard as the
next and come buy your tickets see Fernando.
Speaker 1 (12:34):
But I'll tell you this, there was something in the
air that night DJ. The thing about Mendoza, right, everything
you have wanted to see from him tonight you have seen.
You've seen him be aggressive, you've seen him get outside
the pocket, you have seen him great ball fake, You've
seen everything you wanted the main thing. And I get
your concerned about the offensive line. If he was a

strict pocket guy, then I would say, Okay, yeah, maybe not,
but he has shown escapability. He's always had a capability. Right,
that's one that's one of one of the reasons why
he's such a good quarterback. He's able to keep plays alive.
And not only just keep plays alive, but I will
take off and run and be smart. And so if
that's considering that style, the offensive line thing isn't that
(13:17):
big a deal, Like, okay, as long as the offensive
line isn't just a sieve and and and they're just letting, hey,
go ahead, the quarterbacks right there, just go ahead and
get him, and that's fine. Just you know, say good
things about me. Uh yeah, it's okay. For him to start.
And again it's a it's a three week audition and
you got an a saw. It's like we when you
want to audition for a conservatory, Like you go to
(13:37):
college and you're like, oh, you know, I'm gonna play
the you play the h you play the violin, you
make it okay, You're gonna go our next people, and
then the third one kind of like flash dance a
little bit, and so you gotta there you go. You
just brought you perked everybody out. He's a welder at night,
and yeah, get those feet moving hides. So as long
as you do that, everything is all right. And and
(13:59):
so far he has ace that. Now he hasn't been perfect,
but he has been really really good. He has done
everything you would hope and want a quarterback to do
coming into the game. Look, just drove them down in
the field goal position, really bad, missed field goal that
could have cut the lead to twenty seven seventeen. But
not on him. Again, so far Week one, consider this aste.

He's fine. He's so ready for its a Week one.
Get ready the Fernande Laurian or whatever we're calling him. Oh,
I like the Fernando Laurian or is it just pretty
good as long as because they did something, as long
as it's Fernando Mendoza as the Mandalorian and like Cousins
as Grogu like that little face. Yeah, see him right there,
Kirk Cousins.

That's the fact that the Raiders still have a local presence,
to the point that they take over the CBS affiliate
here in La.

So again we got we still got a bunch of
games going on right now. In the fourth quarter, Arizona
leads the Raiders twenty seven fourteen. Bernano Mendoza's night is
done following that drive that ended in a missed field goal. Again,
we'd had great stuff on him a few minutes ago.
We want to find him. The best of it will
be there. Meanwhile, a couple of other big stories to

get to tonight, some quarterbacks making headlines, and again because
it's week one of the preseason, you're making headlines for
not always the reasons you would hope your team will
make headlines for tonight earlier Bengals beat the Lion sixteen fourteen.
I hope you had the under And Joe Burrow played
a bit for the Bengals tonight about that, and uh,

maybe Joe Burrow thought, who I could have actually maybe
sat a little bit longer and not actually played the
Burrough play face.

Slung down in the backfield, back of the forty yard line,
got tossed down.

Hasadine NFL Network on the call. So yeah, that's kind
of that. When you saw that play, I'm like, oh man,

and that was it for Burrow. Okay, Okay, We're good. Uh.

no team that more needs their quarterback to believe they're
on the right path than Joe Burrow and the Bengals
because he will absolutely Aaron Rodgers things in the offseason.
If the Bengals stink, and he will say, this is
no longer tenable. I'm not spending the rest of my
career here, two years left on my deal, x Y
and Z. I need out right, That's what absolutely is

going to happen. And if I'm the Bengals, right, I
gotta sit here and I gotta go. Okay, I have
If the Bengals were the movie Obsession, okay, And and
Bear is Joe Burrow and the Bengals are are nicky?

Why can't stay healthy? Why bad offensive line? Now, they
did a lot of shuffling up and dealing in the offseason.
You draft a couple of guys, but you look at
their starting lineup much different. You got what three new guys,

You got a number one pick at your right tackle,
and you're wishing, wanting, hoping that they very very quickly,
because that division will cannibalize you. Because even though Biles
Garrett is gone, guess what, they've been pretty good at
churning through guys there. And they brought in Jared Verse.
He'll get after your ass too. So yeah, it's for
Joe Burrow. Yeah, you could see the writing on the wall.
(22:16):
You got all these skilled position players. It goes back
to what we were talking about a little bit with
the Raiders. No, I can't, you know, put him in
a bubble when the regular season comes. I paid him
a lot of money. He's really really good and he's
thrived despite all of the operational inefficiencies and bad decision
making there in Cincinnati. All that said, first couple of
possessions of a preseason game. I don't care if it's

a three step trying to.

Get rid of the damn ball and yell hey, hey,
like it's a joint practice. You love us, Right, it's
like the Tye shirt, tell me, tell me feel like this.
So if this has maybe to make it a little

of concrete, and then okay, well, I guess you're gonna stay.
I guess you're gonna stay with the Bengals. Right, did

you really just spoil the movie? It's been out for
so long, and you've known for like two weeks you've
had to see this movie. Two weeks you've had a long.

really fine. And I was happy to see this because
all he has gotten is bad publicity since he got
taken very early in the draft a few years ago.
And yeah, a lot of it is of his own doing.
Someone that's you know, can't come out of a game
when you're tired. You got to make sure to work
at things. But Anthony Richardson playing tonight for the Colts,

that's as good as you could expect. Anthony Richardson to play.
Through the ball Okay, ran the ball really well, all right,
Like I was happy to see that he had a good,
positive game because it's been nothing. But this guy stinks
and he was overrated and overdrafted, and look, all those
things are true, but it was good to see finally
him to get Okay, he's got a couple of good
He got a good quarter plus under his belt where
(27:12):
he looked like the weapon they had when they draft
him a few years ago. Now, obviously his path to
playing is only if something happens to Daniel Jones. But
in this era of the NFL where everybody is quarterback hungry,
he plays well in the preseason, someone decides to part
with a pick. Maybe now he's played enough football in
the last because that was the whole thing. Look, you
want to know why he didn't hasn't seen a quarterback
in the NFL. He didn't play enough in college. You
(27:35):
can't go win and play thirteen games and suddenly say
I'm going to figure out how to play quarterback in
the NFL. He never figured out how to play quarterback
in college. His athletic gifts were incredible, right, and I
admit it's easy to get sucked in by how good
Anthony Richardson was at Florida. Look at what he can
do physically. But yeah, you can out physical guys in college.
But he never learned to really play quarterback again, thirteen
(27:57):
starts in college football. I love the Bill Parcells school
of well, I'm only gonna draft the guy that started
started games thirty times. You got to start thirty times
in college football, because then I know you can handle
the position. So he never learned to play in college.
You're not gonna learn how to play the position in
the NFL. And that's what has held him back. He
never learned this is what I should be doing, this
is how I have to act, And it's all it's
(28:18):
a combination of getting the reps on the field and
the maturity level, all the stuff mentally that goes into it. Right,
So he has been well behind since he jumped into
the league. Maybe now after being immersed in things for
you know, three plus years, he can figure it out,
not to the extent where he's gonna start, because again, clearly,
unless Daniel Jones gets hurt, he's not gonna play, which
maybe that happens, right because we talked about right when
(28:41):
we talk about it with other quarterbacks, you know they're
gonna play at some point because that's how it goes.
But maybe now he has gotten to a point where
he has become an asset again and he's learned how
to play quarterback to the best of his ability, because
he came in the beginning when he was just doing
his thing. He would have a horrible two and a
half quarters, and then a half quarter would go by.
It's like, wow, you just threw two touchdowns and they
(29:02):
kicked the field goal. Look what Richardson's done. So you
know he's got the talent. But now that maybe it's
for the Cults, maybe it's for another team, but you know,
it's good to see him playing this way and you
think that maybe it's something where he's still young. You
talk about Sam Darnold's being Young's only twenty six years al,
he's been with seventeen teams. He wins a super Bowl.
You know, the same thing you can say for Anthony Richardson.
(29:24):
He just needed to learn how to play quarterback more
than he had to learn to fit in the right
system and figure things out. And I'm hopeful got my
fingers crossed. He's exciting kid. It's fun to go watch.
He learned all his lessons, A lot of them were
very public and not stuff you want quarterbacks to learn
lessons with, or so hoping that maybe this is a
bit of a corner turn for him, maybe for his
future with the culture someplace else.
Speaker 3 (29:44):
I remember when you're minting a Heisman trophies in studio
at the end of September, right because we had a
couple of games, we got to watch him do his
heroics live and in living color, and it was it
was thrilling to watch, but there was also that note
of caution of their there are only a small sample
size of games, and he was the shining example of Okay,
(30:07):
we decided he's our guy, but he's our guy of
the future. And if we got to let that clock
start ticking and he doesn't play right away, fine, your
other quarterback that year was Gardner Minshew. Right, when you
start looking at it and putting through you had several
big talent guys, no question about it, at your skill position.
Jonathan Taylor, who gave everybody beer after signing his what
(30:32):
will essentially be a lifetime contract at this point. But
he got forced into action and he wasn't ready and
you watched it. He could make the big explosives, but
in terms of playing with time, down, distance, patience, and rhythm,
it was gone. And you can't unlearn that. And that's
one of the concerns with the Mendosa right, if you
(30:53):
start relying on your legs all the time to get
out of trouble that may or may not be there,
that eventually you have to relearn living and operating between
the tackles and standing tall in the pocket, et cetera. Richardson,
we never really got to see that because he got
into his scrambling mode, took a bunch of hits that
he didn't to your point, said some things, took himself
(31:15):
out of that game. And look, that was the most
unforgivable thing you can do, according to some. Now you
have the redemption process, whether it's the Geno Smith, Baker Mayfield,
your guy Sam Darnold, keep going on down the line.
Plenty of quarterbacks who finally, I mean, look at we're
talking about Jacoby Brissett. How many teams he been on
at this point. I mean, there's a lot of guys
(31:36):
that it's taken several bites at the apple, the right system,
the right coach and patients to get the best and
coax the best out of a guy. Hopefully that athleticism
we saw several years ago at college will get a
chance to be on display again. I hope it's not
at the expense of Danny Dimes his legs though.

but this is where you know college football then not
by way now through the NFL has its own way
of doing things, and left to their own devices, they
will screw something up.

you don't trust, doesn't have the the quite trust responsibility factor.

to Death, just talking about if you've got all these
technologies and you inundated with news and information, eventually you

It's I mean, this is so unnecessary and it became

it's so unnecessary. An attorney representing Jaden Dangles, commander star quarterback,
informed LSU it can no longer use his name, image
and likeness. Now wait a minute, what are they doing here? Well,
because they have given star sophomore cornerback DJ Pickett his
(36:07):
number five. So he's very well that the jersey Jayden
and Daniels wore number five, very famously winning the Heisman
Trophy years fantastic, no question, And he has talked to
the school about not giving anybody number five. That was
a conversation, according according to sources, happened a while ago.
(36:27):
But now that someone is wearing five, potentially you can
start selling five jerseys again. And no, no, no, we
don't have to give you any money. This is DJ
Pickett and so Jaden Daniels has put out a cease
and desist. They can no longer use his name, image
and likeness. This according to a letter they sent the
school a couple of weeks ago. So Jade Daniels doesn't
(36:49):
want anybody wearing number five. Well, how did this come up? Well?
DJ Pickett wore number three last year, had a really
good year, and according to Pickett, he was promised that
he he could wear number five. That was number in
high school. He wanted to wear it, and Lane Kiffin
has decided, Yeah, I don't give a crap. Jane Daniels
didn't win the Heidsman Trophy for me. I'll give you
number five. So that's how Pickett wound up getting number five. Now,
(37:12):
this is a really ridiculously stupid story. It gets even
more ridiculous when DJ Pickett actually met the media to
talk about this earlier today. Here's what Pickett had to
say about the situation evolving Daniels the number five and
him getting to wear it.
Speaker 6 (37:27):
About the number situation, what a number of my whole life,
since I was four years old was a number I
was promised? Yeah, and I wish Jaden abyss good player
and he did real good here, so that's all.
Speaker 1 (37:42):
Good player, good player, won the Heisman Trophy, won the
Heighs Patrol. He's only gonna kiss his ass, so much trophy.
Speaker 3 (37:49):
Right, if he's really gone through his resume and talked
about how great he was, you think it makes the
situation ain't better? No, you know, soft Schewett. Hey, he
was great, he was good when he was here.
Speaker 1 (37:59):
And here's where he was pretty good. Here's where everybody
is missing the story, because all I have seen all
day was, boy, what a bad look for Jayden Daniels.
How petty does he seem? He's got a big contract
in the NFL. He made his money at LSU. It's
bad where he has to beg a team to not
give somebody his number, right, And I okay, And I'm like, okay,
(38:21):
I see that. But I feel like people just wanted
to hate on Jayden Daniels because honestly, this is much
worse of a look for LSU because this is a
guy that won the Heisman Trophy and should it be
a pretty blanket statement that if you win the Heisman Trophy,
no one gets your number.

I like that.
Speaker 1 (38:37):
I also like the fact that, well, Billy Cannon won
the Heisman Trophy, they didn't give his number to anybody,
and Joe Burrow won the Highs. Haven't given anybody Joe
Burrow's number nine, but we're giving Jayden Daniels his number.
Speaker 3 (38:47):
Yeah, Kiffin was asked about the Joe Burrow thing as well,
and nobody's asked right, well, so I don't know. And
here's Lane Kiffin who was not there at this time.
But Lane kiffen could give a crap about legacy, about
what it's important about the school. Oh, this kid wants
number five. He wore his whole life. I'm gonna give
it to you. It's like, whoa wow, man.
Speaker 1 (39:09):
I mean, you seem like we don't care, Like they
seem like we don't care about what you've done for
us if you're not doing it for us right now
at this moment, Like I think LSU looks bad overall
because you have Lane Kiffin basically saying yeah, I don't
give a crap about James dan where James Daniels might
have a point here, more people are gonna, oh I
could buy five. Now they're gonna put this jersey back
in whatever it is. Like, you see, Lane Kiffin doesn't
(39:32):
seem to care. DJ Pikett doesn't seem to care. This
is my number. I've worn this all the time. Meanwhile,
there's a way you could have easily tant this out
by retiring the jersey but still giving it out to
people like this is what other schools have done. Hey,
we're retiring your jersey, doesn't mean other people aren't gonna
where we can retire this, right, there's ways this could
(39:52):
have been ironed out very easily, very easily. They could
have done this because with Jameen Daniel's hurting more about
the money and more about the fact that he asked
them not to give out the number or just to
do something for him and they haven't. Right, this is
something that could have been handled better. LSU could have
handled this better. This guy's an absolute legend. Do you
really want one of your two most famous alumni ever
(40:13):
right now to be someone who doesn't do stuff for
the school. Doesn't help you talk call players? What if
someone's a huge Jadan Daniels fan, Hey, Jaane, can you
give this guy a call for us? Blank? You man?
You good luck? You land him yourself, You go get
him yourself. Like this is so none of this had
to happen. All that had to happen was LSU understanding
Jayden Daniels where he's coming from. LSU calls and says Listen, Jaden,
(40:35):
I get where you're saying. Pickets more in this his
whole career. He's a really good player for us. We
want to keep him happy. What if we retire your
number earlier, but we still allow him to wear it.
You think Jade Daniels are gonna say, Okay, no, I
need that extra three hundred grand from the name, image
and likeness. No, he just wants to be treated well enough,
like a guy that won a Heisman Trophy for a
school that didn't give out the other numbers of guys
(40:57):
that won. But yet they're giving out this one, and
maybe no one want. I believe no one's wanted number
nine since they've shown up in Joe Burrow's time. Right,
can't believe no one wanted to wear Billy Cannon's number
twenty for the past seventy years. Oh, by the way,
how great of a football name is Cannon? Right? I
mean more, guy think Cannon's one of the greatest names ever. So, like,
how many more guys were out there that wanted those
numbers that, for one reason another LSU said no to
(41:18):
but Brian Kelly was there. I'm not gonna do it,
Lane Kiffin. You know could give a crap about anything
that doesn't involve two words Lane or Kiffin, so you
know he's not gonna care about it. So that's why
this could have been solved so easily, and I hope
that it's solved more easily now that because this is
just so incredibly messy. And now you have one of
(41:40):
your two most famous alums that wants to sue you
and is now you're at odds with him and you
look bad because anybody that goes to LSU, that's the
superstars going wow, this is how they're gonna treat their
former players here. Like it's like free agency teams players
go and say okay, because you get players that are
gonna say, hey, I like the fact they're giving DJ
picking his number. Many other players going, man, I don't
like the fact this guy won the Heisman Trophy and

they're treating them like, yeah, you're not doing anything for us, man,
We're not doing So there's so many things that could
have been solved in this for this not to be
a stupid story. This is a knucklehead story that became
a front page story all day.

So ham handed on several levels.

Wait hand and good, Okay, but we.
Speaker 3 (42:19):
Talk about institutional control and minding your p's and q's,
you know, handing down line of success or whatever. It's like, hey,
we made a promise to Jaden whatever that might have been,
and maybe you didn't. Maybe it was just an understood
I'm a great what are you doing. There's rings of
honors all over, so like I'm a Heisman winner. It
(42:40):
should be there because look he won several years ago.
Like this isn't like ancient history here, but look, you
can still sell his jerseys. Like that's not You're not
gonna be precluded from doing that. But for him, I
look at there was a video that was circulated. It
was Michael Irvin. It's a good bit and I've heard
him do it before, but it was the bit he
(43:00):
did with Jimmy Kimmel, and he was talking about, you know,
getting your flowers and your number and retiring numbers whatever.
And he goes, you know, if it's up in the rafters,
they don't talk about me again except on like an
old timer's day or when I'm gone. I'm paraphrasing. Obviously
he goes. But when Cede Lamb goes up and make
a catch, they talk about Michael Irvin. If Cede Lamb
(43:23):
drops the ball, they'll say Michael Irvin never did that,
or Dez Bryant or anybody else wearing the number eighty eight.
He goes, So I'm always getting my flowers, my recognition,
I'm being remembered for Jade Daniels. If it's something to
that effect, it's like you're a Heisman Trophy winner. You're
going to be celebrated every year at a minimum, for
the rest of your life. Now again with LSU, I
(43:47):
mean Kiffin's one thing. Brian Kelly not exactly warm and
fuzzy and a guy that a lot of people cheer
for around the business. So whatever promises and history he had, right,
you take it all in. Whoever's writing the checks and
running the institution needs to be mindful of these things,
(44:10):
just like you are with hiring all of these middle
managers and up to make sure your NIL is administered
properly and everything else. Here you're talking about Jade and
Daniels and making sure you don't burn that bridge because
you've had how many x LSU guys couldn't get to
a microphone or their headset or a podcast or video

fast enough and watching guys take sides on this. The
cannibalization of it is just terrible for the university.

Yeah, I mean, look, you have two big famous alum
Joe Burrow and Jaden Daniels. Those are your guys. You
have other famous one, but these are your guys. And
to treat him like this to the point where you
couldn't figure it out?
Speaker 3 (44:49):
Yeah, I want to know what these conversations work.
Speaker 1 (44:51):
How do we get to a point where I got
to send you a cease and desist letter on this?
How did you let it get to that point? You
need to be the adults in the room and saying, Okay,
he's got a problem. How do we solve this and
keep one of our two most famous alums happy with
the school that will still do things for us. We
still look great. I mean it's a worse look for
LSU than is for Jane Daniels, because I can say,

does Dani's look a little petty? Yeah? I get it,
but I also understand pettiness sometimes. Boy boy, you're really
not honoring me like you've honored these other Heisman winners.
You really you really kind of treat me bad here,
And I don't like seeing go boy, They didn't give
out the other numbers to anybody, but they'll give out
your number. So yeah, I get that that can be.
But I understand the pettiness from LSU. I don't get
any of it. It's just, yeah, sorry, you're not gonna

have We're gonna gi him the number. That's how it's going.

But as you said, you you inject lane Kiff into it.
It's the We brought you in and we paid you
a load of money to come in and win games
by any means necessary, which means he's shown how many
times Jason he's okay with being the bad guy. I
could la like it just brushes off.

Lane Kiffin could be in a Superman movie and he
could be at the top of the Eye Full Tower
and he could be falling off, and Superman would could
fly in, grab him while he's midway falling down, bring
him safely to Earth, put him down, and lane Kiff
would look down, saying with safe and he would say,

I was a crappy rescue man. You let me fall halfway,
You suck, and he would that flip because I'm not
doing something for you right at this moment. I'm gonna say,
like I could actually see him doing that. You suck
it out of your suit and Superman puts his head

there for the Raiders. Kirk Cousins tonight five out of

six for fifty yards in a touchdown and so far
Fernando Mendoza six out of eleven fifty three yards in
a touchdown as well. First of all, I would like
to thank everybody who came around to our take from
a few days ago, and we told you, you know what,
the door is open for Fernando Mendoza to win this
job week one. We told you about before they even played.

The door is open, and now tonight Mendoza's played pretty well.
We'll break it down in a second, and I'm seeing
so many even earlier today on TV and everyone, Hey
mendo men, the Mendoza Era, the Mendoza Hey. Yeah again.
That's why I like to say we're ahead of the curve.
We told you a few days ago that if Fernando
Mendoza plays great in the preseason, it's irrelevant what Kirk
(05:56):
Cousins does. If Mendoza plays great, he will start Week
one because it will be an avalanche of support. If
the number one overall pick is ready, why are we
sitting him behind a guy that is now on his
third team in the last three years and signed to
be the backup after four weeks? What are we waiting
for when the soft part of our schedule is the
very beginning of the season, right, the Raiders start with
(06:17):
a really soft part of the schedule. What are we
waiting for tonight? So far, Fernando Mendoza has been terrific?
Has he been? Oh my goodness? He hasn't missed a throw. No,
He's tried to force a couple of plays, but overall,
his play action game is really good. Already you can
see it. He has made some big throws through for
the touchdown. Mendoza is what everybody hoped he would be
(06:40):
when he was drafted. I admit, am I nervous about
the guy. Yeah, because all the safeguards the Raiders have
put in place about him. It's like, guys, he's a
number one overall pick. He sinks three swims, right, that's
what you have to do. But so far, it's not
even a fact of where the game is not too
fast for Mendoza. This is now him trying to make
big play, keeping plays alive, like he got absolutely wrecked
(07:03):
on their last possession, trying to make something happen when okay,
you throw the ball away. But I'd rather have a
quarterback doing that than checking down throwing it short. Mendoza
looks every bit how the Raiders and the NFL hoped
and expected him to look. So so far, Kirk Cousins
has done nothing that. There is nothing tonight that tells me, oh,
(07:25):
Cousins gonna stay the quarterback. If Mendoza continues, he builds
on tonight. Now he's gotta have He's gotta have three
really good games, right. He can't have a game where ooh,
two out of nine an interception. His quarterback rating is
around forty. He has a game like that and suddenly
the Raiders are gonna say, Okay, maybe he's not quite ready,
but if he has three big games in the preseason,
he starts week one, and you know, it's like, have
(07:46):
that big check mark ready for game one, because what
he's done so far tonight, how he has looked, he
has looked absolutely ready to play check off week one.
For Fernando Mendoza, test one has been passed. Now he's
got two more.

Okay, I'll uh, I'll give you that. I've seen a
couple of throws that I really like, couple across the middle.
Certainly that touchdown throw was a dart uh to a
diving to the end zone. Besh uh fantastic, You said
dart and diving in the same sense, said Jackson. Dart
did not slide tonight at all. He did not eat
just well to let you know it's not some sort
of thing. He did not slide it all today will

broadcast professionals. I'm painting a picture and people know that.

the ball. But it's okayes, my mom is not gonna

But that's one you live to see another day. But
that comes with learning. I also take it with a
grain of salt. It's the Arizona Cardinals whose first unit's
not supposed to be good, which means the second unit
probably that much worse. So I'm not downgrading what he's doing.
But but it's playing with the with the with the
top level, right. I mean he's also coming in with
(09:40):
the backups, and you can only do what you see
so far. And that's the thing is that you don't
want to postpone the future. He's gotta ace all three
of these tests, right, I mean, there's no doubt he
can't have a If he has one bad game in
the preseason's not happening. But like I told you, if
he has a great preseason, I know how the world works.
It's like it's like other people and team don't understand
(10:00):
how the world.

Oh, I know, he doesn't need to start at all. Yeah,
it's great to say that. In April and May and June,
you're sitting by a pool and you're doing a radio
interview or a podcast and you're saying, yeah, yeah, we
don't need to see this guy for you know, eight weeks.
Maybe again, Hey, if Kirk plays well, we don't see Mendoza.
In a perfect world, Fernando doesn't play, Yeah, and then
the footballs fly for real and all of a sudden,
you get to September first, and it's, oh man, we
(10:23):
got big decisions to make. We saw X, Y and
s it. I'm telling you, Matt. But he's if he
aces all these tests, it's fine and tonight. So far,
what I've seen, he has aced this time.
Speaker 3 (10:31):
It's the theory versus reality when it comes to this stuff,
because I'm old school to where if I can buy
a guy time to make sure he's acclimated, to make
sure I've solidified all of these support mechanisms that are
that should be in place for a young quarterback, I e.
He doesn't have five guys standing in front of because look,
Linda Brod's great, he was a great addition. There ain't
(10:52):
five of them. Okay, the rest of that line will
need to really haul ass and make sure that they
can keep him up upright throughout the season. But you've
got to test it and actually get game experience. I
understand it, Like you're both sides of the coin. I'd
love to see him and make sure since you did
bring in Kirk Cousins, you're not bold they him for
(11:14):
any real money. So whenever that part of the equation
comes into this, like no, Atlanta's paying the bulk of
the freight. Now they structured his deal oddly, but again
there's not a lot of substantive guaranteed money, good mentor
bring him along all of those things, best habits, best
practices kind of things. And for Fernando Mendoz, I mean
(11:36):
the only headline he's made this offseason is how he
actively avoids the strip. That's it like that. That's as
much as you're getting out of him in terms of
enticing details. Eventually, maybe we'll get his watch list for
whatever cartoons, anime or rom coms he's into. But where
it stands now, you've got skill position players. I'm just
(11:57):
still concerned about the offensive line. Now you open with
Miami and then the next week you got the Chargers.
Week four, you've got the Chiefs. So you've got Spagnola
and we look here what the Chargers defense should be
able to do. You're gonna get tested real early. It
doesn't mean I keep him away, but it's the idea
of I understand if you're looking at it from a
(12:18):
long haul perspective with Captain Kirk in the fold, but
you've also got a very thirsty fan base. His face
is all up and down Las Vegas Boulevard as the
next and come buy your tickets see Fernando.
Speaker 1 (12:34):
But I'll tell you this, there was something in the
air that night DJ. The thing about Mendoza, right, everything
you have wanted to see from him tonight you have seen.
You've seen him be aggressive, you've seen him get outside
the pocket, you have seen him great ball fake, You've
seen everything you wanted the main thing. And I get
your concerned about the offensive line. If he was a
(12:56):
strict pocket guy, then I would say, Okay, yeah, maybe not,
but he has shown escapability. He's always had a capability. Right,
that's one that's one of one of the reasons why
he's such a good quarterback. He's able to keep plays alive.
And not only just keep plays alive, but I will
take off and run and be smart. And so if
that's considering that style, the offensive line thing isn't that
(13:17):
big a deal, Like, okay, as long as the offensive
line isn't just a sieve and and and they're just letting, hey,
go ahead, the quarterbacks right there, just go ahead and
get him, and that's fine. Just you know, say good
things about me. Uh yeah, it's okay. For him to start.
And again it's a it's a three week audition and
you got an a saw. It's like we when you
want to audition for a conservatory, Like you go to
(13:37):
college and you're like, oh, you know, I'm gonna play
the you play the h you play the violin, you
make it okay, You're gonna go our next people, and
then the third one kind of like flash dance a
little bit, and so you gotta there you go. You
just brought you perked everybody out. He's a welder at night,
and yeah, get those feet moving hides. So as long
as you do that, everything is all right. And and
(13:59):
so far he has ace that. Now he hasn't been perfect,
but he has been really really good. He has done
everything you would hope and want a quarterback to do
coming into the game. Look, just drove them down in
the field goal position, really bad, missed field goal that
could have cut the lead to twenty seven seventeen. But
not on him. Again, so far Week one, consider this aste.

He's fine. He's so ready for its a Week one.
Get ready the Fernande Laurian or whatever we're calling him. Oh,
I like the Fernando Laurian or is it just pretty
good as long as because they did something, as long
as it's Fernando Mendoza as the Mandalorian and like Cousins
as Grogu like that little face. Yeah, see him right there,

and you're wishing, wanting, hoping that they very very quickly,
because that division will cannibalize you. Because even though Biles
Garrett is gone, guess what, they've been pretty good at
churning through guys there. And they brought in Jared Verse.
He'll get after your ass too. So yeah, it's for
Joe Burrow. Yeah, you could see the writing on the wall.
(22:16):
You got all these skilled position players. It goes back
to what we were talking about a little bit with
the Raiders. No, I can't, you know, put him in
a bubble when the regular season comes. I paid him
a lot of money. He's really really good and he's
thrived despite all of the operational inefficiencies and bad decision
making there in Cincinnati. All that said, first couple of
possessions of a preseason game. I don't care if it's

a three step trying to.

when you're tired. You got to make sure to work
at things. But Anthony Richardson playing tonight for the Colts,

that's as good as you could expect. Anthony Richardson to play.
Through the ball Okay, ran the ball really well, all right,
Like I was happy to see that he had a good,
positive game because it's been nothing. But this guy stinks
and he was overrated and overdrafted, and look, all those
things are true, but it was good to see finally
him to get Okay, he's got a couple of good
He got a good quarter plus under his belt where

he looked like the weapon they had when they draft
him a few years ago. Now, obviously his path to
playing is only if something happens to Daniel Jones. But
in this era of the NFL where everybody is quarterback hungry,
he plays well in the preseason, someone decides to part
with a pick. Maybe now he's played enough football in
the last because that was the whole thing. Look, you
want to know why he didn't hasn't seen a quarterback
in the NFL. He didn't play enough in college. You
(27:35):
can't go win and play thirteen games and suddenly say
I'm going to figure out how to play quarterback in
the NFL. He never figured out how to play quarterback
in college. His athletic gifts were incredible, right, and I
admit it's easy to get sucked in by how good
Anthony Richardson was at Florida. Look at what he can
do physically. But yeah, you can out physical guys in college.
But he never learned to really play quarterback again, thirteen
(27:57):
starts in college football. I love the Bill Parcells school
of well, I'm only gonna draft the guy that started
started games thirty times. You got to start thirty times
in college football, because then I know you can handle
the position. So he never learned to play in college.
You're not gonna learn how to play the position in
the NFL. And that's what has held him back. He
never learned this is what I should be doing, this
is how I have to act, And it's all it's
(28:18):
a combination of getting the reps on the field and
the maturity level, all the stuff mentally that goes into it. Right,
So he has been well behind since he jumped into
the league. Maybe now after being immersed in things for
you know, three plus years, he can figure it out,
not to the extent where he's gonna start, because again, clearly,
unless Daniel Jones gets hurt, he's not gonna play, which
maybe that happens, right because we talked about right when
(28:41):
we talk about it with other quarterbacks, you know they're
gonna play at some point because that's how it goes.
But maybe now he has gotten to a point where
he has become an asset again and he's learned how
to play quarterback to the best of his ability, because
he came in the beginning when he was just doing
his thing. He would have a horrible two and a
half quarters, and then a half quarter would go by.
It's like, wow, you just threw two touchdowns and they
(29:02):
kicked the field goal. Look what Richardson's done. So you
know he's got the talent. But now that maybe it's
for the Cults, maybe it's for another team, but you know,
it's good to see him playing this way and you
think that maybe it's something where he's still young. You
talk about Sam Darnold's being Young's only twenty six years al,
he's been with seventeen teams. He wins a super Bowl.
You know, the same thing you can say for Anthony Richardson.
(29:24):
He just needed to learn how to play quarterback more
than he had to learn to fit in the right
system and figure things out. And I'm hopeful got my
fingers crossed. He's exciting kid. It's fun to go watch.
He learned all his lessons, A lot of them were
very public and not stuff you want quarterbacks to learn
lessons with, or so hoping that maybe this is a
bit of a corner turn for him, maybe for his
future with the culture someplace else.
Speaker 3 (29:44):
I remember when you're minting a Heisman trophies in studio
at the end of September, right because we had a
couple of games, we got to watch him do his
heroics live and in living color, and it was it
was thrilling to watch, but there was also that note
of caution of their there are only a small sample
size of games, and he was the shining example of Okay,
(30:07):
we decided he's our guy, but he's our guy of
the future. And if we got to let that clock
start ticking and he doesn't play right away, fine, your
other quarterback that year was Gardner Minshew. Right, when you
start looking at it and putting through you had several
big talent guys, no question about it, at your skill position.
Jonathan Taylor, who gave everybody beer after signing his what
(30:32):
will essentially be a lifetime contract at this point. But
he got forced into action and he wasn't ready and
you watched it. He could make the big explosives, but
in terms of playing with time, down, distance, patience, and rhythm,
it was gone. And you can't unlearn that. And that's
one of the concerns with the Mendosa right, if you
(30:53):
start relying on your legs all the time to get
out of trouble that may or may not be there,
that eventually you have to relearn living and operating between
the tackles and standing tall in the pocket, et cetera. Richardson,
we never really got to see that because he got
into his scrambling mode, took a bunch of hits that
he didn't to your point, said some things, took himself
(31:15):
out of that game. And look, that was the most
unforgivable thing you can do, according to some. Now you
have the redemption process, whether it's the Geno Smith, Baker Mayfield,
your guy Sam Darnold, keep going on down the line.
Plenty of quarterbacks who finally, I mean, look at we're
talking about Jacoby Brissett. How many teams he been on
at this point. I mean, there's a lot of guys
(31:36):
that it's taken several bites at the apple, the right system,
the right coach and patients to get the best and
coax the best out of a guy. Hopefully that athleticism
we saw several years ago at college will get a
chance to be on display again. I hope it's not
at the expense of Danny Dimes his legs though.

it's so unnecessary. An attorney representing Jaden Dangles, commander star quarterback,
informed LSU it can no longer use his name, image
and likeness. Now wait a minute, what are they doing here? Well,
because they have given star sophomore cornerback DJ Pickett his
(36:07):
number five. So he's very well that the jersey Jayden
and Daniels wore number five, very famously winning the Heisman
Trophy years fantastic, no question, And he has talked to
the school about not giving anybody number five. That was
a conversation, according according to sources, happened a while ago.
(36:27):
But now that someone is wearing five, potentially you can
start selling five jerseys again. And no, no, no, we
don't have to give you any money. This is DJ
Pickett and so Jaden Daniels has put out a cease
and desist. They can no longer use his name, image
and likeness. This according to a letter they sent the
school a couple of weeks ago. So Jade Daniels doesn't
(36:49):
want anybody wearing number five. Well, how did this come up? Well?
DJ Pickett wore number three last year, had a really
good year, and according to Pickett, he was promised that
he he could wear number five. That was number in
high school. He wanted to wear it, and Lane Kiffin
has decided, Yeah, I don't give a crap. Jane Daniels
didn't win the Heidsman Trophy for me. I'll give you
number five. So that's how Pickett wound up getting number five. Now,
(37:12):
this is a really ridiculously stupid story. It gets even
more ridiculous when DJ Pickett actually met the media to
talk about this earlier today. Here's what Pickett had to
say about the situation evolving Daniels the number five and
him getting to wear it.
Speaker 6 (37:27):
About the number situation, what a number of my whole life,
since I was four years old was a number I
was promised? Yeah, and I wish Jaden abyss good player
and he did real good here, so that's all.
Speaker 1 (37:42):
Good player, good player, won the Heisman Trophy, won the
Heighs Patrol. He's only gonna kiss his ass, so much trophy.
Speaker 3 (37:49):
Right, if he's really gone through his resume and talked
about how great he was, you think it makes the
situation ain't better? No, you know, soft Schewett. Hey, he
was great, he was good when he was here.
Speaker 1 (37:59):
And here's where he was pretty good. Here's where everybody
is missing the story, because all I have seen all
day was, boy, what a bad look for Jayden Daniels.
How petty does he seem? He's got a big contract
in the NFL. He made his money at LSU. It's
bad where he has to beg a team to not
give somebody his number, right, And I okay, And I'm like, okay,
(38:21):
I see that. But I feel like people just wanted
to hate on Jayden Daniels because honestly, this is much
worse of a look for LSU because this is a
guy that won the Heisman Trophy and should it be
a pretty blanket statement that if you win the Heisman Trophy,
no one gets your number.
Speaker 6 (38:36):
I like that.
Speaker 1 (38:37):
I also like the fact that, well, Billy Cannon won
the Heisman Trophy, they didn't give his number to anybody,
and Joe Burrow won the Highs. Haven't given anybody Joe
Burrow's number nine, but we're giving Jayden Daniels his number.
Speaker 3 (38:47):
Yeah, Kiffin was asked about the Joe Burrow thing as well,
and nobody's asked right, well, so I don't know. And
here's Lane Kiffin who was not there at this time.
But Lane kiffen could give a crap about legacy, about
what it's important about the school. Oh, this kid wants
number five. He wore his whole life. I'm gonna give
it to you. It's like, whoa wow, man.
Speaker 1 (39:09):
I mean, you seem like we don't care, Like they
seem like we don't care about what you've done for
us if you're not doing it for us right now
at this moment, Like I think LSU looks bad overall
because you have Lane Kiffin basically saying yeah, I don't
give a crap about James dan where James Daniels might
have a point here, more people are gonna, oh I
could buy five. Now they're gonna put this jersey back
in whatever it is. Like, you see, Lane Kiffin doesn't

seem to care. DJ Pikett doesn't seem to care. This
is my number. I've worn this all the time. Meanwhile,
there's a way you could have easily tant this out
by retiring the jersey but still giving it out to
people like this is what other schools have done. Hey,
we're retiring your jersey, doesn't mean other people aren't gonna
where we can retire this, right, there's ways this could
(39:52):
have been ironed out very easily, very easily. They could
have done this because with Jameen Daniel's hurting more about
the money and more about the fact that he asked
them not to give out the number or just to
do something for him and they haven't. Right, this is
something that could have been handled better. LSU could have
handled this better. This guy's an absolute legend. Do you
really want one of your two most famous alumni ever

right now to be someone who doesn't do stuff for
the school. Doesn't help you talk call players? What if
someone's a huge Jadan Daniels fan, Hey, Jaane, can you
give this guy a call for us? Blank? You man?
You good luck? You land him yourself, You go get
him yourself. Like this is so none of this had
to happen. All that had to happen was LSU understanding
Jayden Daniels where he's coming from. LSU calls and says Listen, Jaden,
(40:35):
I get where you're saying. Pickets more in this his
whole career. He's a really good player for us. We
want to keep him happy. What if we retire your
number earlier, but we still allow him to wear it.
You think Jade Daniels are gonna say, Okay, no, I
need that extra three hundred grand from the name, image
and likeness. No, he just wants to be treated well enough,
like a guy that won a Heisman Trophy for a
school that didn't give out the other numbers of guys
(40:57):
that won. But yet they're giving out this one, and
maybe no one want. I believe no one's wanted number
nine since they've shown up in Joe Burrow's time. Right,
can't believe no one wanted to wear Billy Cannon's number
twenty for the past seventy years. Oh, by the way,
how great of a football name is Cannon? Right? I
mean more, guy think Cannon's one of the greatest names ever. So, like,
how many more guys were out there that wanted those
numbers that, for one reason another LSU said no to
(41:18):
but Brian Kelly was there. I'm not gonna do it,
Lane Kiffin. You know could give a crap about anything
that doesn't involve two words Lane or Kiffin, so you
know he's not gonna care about it. So that's why
this could have been solved so easily, and I hope
that it's solved more easily now that because this is
just so incredibly messy. And now you have one of
(41:40):
your two most famous alums that wants to sue you
and is now you're at odds with him and you
look bad because anybody that goes to LSU, that's the
superstars going wow, this is how they're gonna treat their
former players here. Like it's like free agency teams players
go and say okay, because you get players that are
gonna say, hey, I like the fact they're giving DJ
picking his number. Many other players going, man, I don't
like the fact this guy won the Heisman Trophy and

they're treating them like, yeah, you're not doing anything for us, man,
We're not doing So there's so many things that could
have been solved in this for this not to be
a stupid story. This is a knucklehead story that became
a front page story all day.

So ham handed on several levels.

Wait hand and good, Okay, but we.

Talk about institutional control and minding your p's and q's,
you know, handing down line of success or whatever. It's like, hey,
we made a promise to Jaden whatever that might have been,
and maybe you didn't. Maybe it was just an understood
I'm a great what are you doing. There's rings of
honors all over, so like I'm a Heisman winner. It
(42:40):
should be there because look he won several years ago.
Like this isn't like ancient history here, but look, you
can still sell his jerseys. Like that's not You're not
gonna be precluded from doing that. But for him, I
look at there was a video that was circulated. It
was Michael Irvin. It's a good bit and I've heard
him do it before, but it was the bit he
(43:00):
did with Jimmy Kimmel, and he was talking about, you know,
getting your flowers and your number and retiring numbers whatever.
And he goes, you know, if it's up in the rafters,
they don't talk about me again except on like an
old timer's day or when I'm gone. I'm paraphrasing. Obviously
he goes. But when Cede Lamb goes up and make
a catch, they talk about Michael Irvin. If Cede Lamb
(43:23):
drops the ball, they'll say Michael Irvin never did that,
or Dez Bryant or anybody else wearing the number eighty eight.
He goes, So I'm always getting my flowers, my recognition,
I'm being remembered for Jade Daniels. If it's something to
that effect, it's like you're a Heisman Trophy winner. You're
going to be celebrated every year at a minimum, for
the rest of your life. Now again with LSU, I
(43:47):
mean Kiffin's one thing. Brian Kelly not exactly warm and
fuzzy and a guy that a lot of people cheer
for around the business. So whatever promises and history he had, right,
you take it all in. Whoever's writing the checks and
running the institution needs to be mindful of these things,
(44:10):
just like you are with hiring all of these middle
managers and up to make sure your NIL is administered
properly and everything else. Here you're talking about Jade and
Daniels and making sure you don't burn that bridge because
you've had how many x LSU guys couldn't get to
a microphone or their headset or a podcast or video
(44:31):
fast enough and watching guys take sides on this. The
cannibalization of it is just terrible for the university.
Speaker 1 (44:38):
Yeah, I mean, look, you have two big famous alum
Joe Burrow and Jaden Daniels. Those are your guys. You
have other famous one, but these are your guys. And
to treat him like this to the point where you
couldn't figure it out?
Speaker 3 (44:49):
Yeah, I want to know what these conversations work.
Speaker 1 (44:51):
How do we get to a point where I got
to send you a cease and desist letter on this?
How did you let it get to that point? You
need to be the adults in the room and saying, Okay,
he's got a problem. How do we solve this and
keep one of our two most famous alums happy with
the school that will still do things for us. We
still look great. I mean it's a worse look for
LSU than is for Jane Daniels, because I can say,

does Dani's look a little petty? Yeah? I get it,
but I also understand pettiness sometimes. Boy boy, you're really
not honoring me like you've honored these other Heisman winners.
You really you really kind of treat me bad here,
And I don't like seeing go boy, They didn't give
out the other numbers to anybody, but they'll give out
your number. So yeah, I get that that can be.
But I understand the pettiness from LSU. I don't get
any of it. It's just, yeah, sorry, you're not gonna

have We're gonna gi him the number. That's how it's going.

But as you said, you you inject lane Kiff into it.
It's the We brought you in and we paid you
a load of money to come in and win games
by any means necessary, which means he's shown how many
times Jason he's okay with being the bad guy. I
could la like it just brushes off.

Lane Kiffin could be in a Superman movie and he
could be at the top of the Eye Full Tower
and he could be falling off, and Superman would could
fly in, grab him while he's midway falling down, bring
him safely to Earth, put him down, and lane Kiff
would look down, saying with safe and he would say,

I was a crappy rescue man. You let me fall halfway,
You suck, and he would that flip because I'm not
doing something for you right at this moment. I'm gonna say,
like I could actually see him doing that. You suck
it out of your suit and Superman puts his head
down and walks off. Real said Christmas time, I could
say I can see that, I could see like Superman.
