Speaker 3 (01:12):
Yes, on Thursday night football twenty to nine.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
At halftime over under was fifty four and a half.
Let's go Wow, you're shouting, you're so excited. Did you
bet the over? You sound like you bet the over.

Speaker 3 (01:22):
It's a Thursday game that has me.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
No, I notice on Thanksgiving where you're waiting on a
trough of food and beverage. No, it's but you went
right to the score in the over. I think you
got I think I think your kid's college careers might
be predicated on the outcome of this game.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
What' you call the parlay?

Speaker 1 (01:42):
I know we talked about that if you got into
any college, we'd pay for it wherever you went to.

Speaker 3 (01:47):
But I want to tell you something, Dan Campbell went
conservative in the second half, and that's why you're not
going to college. Just so you know, you are all
set to go. But all of a sudden, oh, we
got to give the ball to David Munt for three
yards of carry. So you want to know why you're
not going to college. It's not because I bet on
it and I wasted and fritted it all away. You

(02:08):
blame Dan Campbell for that Thursday night game.

Speaker 1 (02:10):
Look I had it pegged right, It's not my fault
they didn't perform.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
I had it. I don't know what to tell you.
I had it.

Speaker 1 (02:18):
Candy capped the whole way, that perfect sense. And David
Montgomery for what you uh, for what you know, mister
smart guy had that big play.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
For a yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
For I think the longest carries thirty seven yards, thirty
five yard touched him, the longest run of his life
that he had. You know, it's funny because he.

Speaker 3 (02:34):
Had him on air and then he hated you. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
I think it so not.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
I think the lines are like five hundred since we've
had David Montgomery on the ship.

Speaker 3 (02:41):
It's like a lot of coaches. Yeah, you're number one
in the land, not anymore.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
But you know, the funny thing is when when if
you to understand the gambler's mentality right, to get that
the people who are so into gambling, it's difficult. It's
difficult to explain how people can get so wrapped up
in it, how people can can go from I don't
really know what gambling is to you know a few

(03:07):
months later, all of a sudden they're in that. We're
in the visors and everything else there's a segment of
The Goldfinch by donnad Tart, one of the greatest books
I've I've read, probably a top ten book I've.

Speaker 3 (03:17):
Read in my life.

Speaker 1 (03:18):
The movie came out a couple of years ago. Jeffrey
Owens was in it, not quite as good as the book. Again,
it's one of those big, sprawling adventures, and the book,
you know, you get this. It's one of those books
where you get the story for the first like couple
under pages, it's really good, and then all of a
sudden there's a left turn and you get another story
for like a middle three hundred pages, and you're like,
what's this story?

Speaker 3 (03:38):
I want the old story? And then in the middle
you're like, oh no, no, stay with this story. I like
this one.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
And one of the characters' dads is a big gambler,
and I've never read anything that so got into the
psyche of how someone becomes that person. Then when I
read the dad talking about the highs and the lows
and how he got it, and what just explaining to
you is to his kid, this is how it happens.
And because this kid kind of knew his dad was

(04:03):
a gambler, and that's how he made a living, like
he was a professional gambler, Like how he made a living,
and how dangerous it is to you know, make a
living as a professional gambler. But it was, it was
just so it was so easy. Oh, now you understand
the psychology behind that. So I kind of understand the
psychology between you know, you opening the microphone and getting
really loud and chesty about the over in the first

(04:24):
half of this game. No, Well, because we have all
these different outcomes and we try to bring everybody together
in a big hug, right our global audience here through
the four hundred plus affiliates and the iHeartRadio app, where
you know, every play just means that much more. We
magnify it because we're in the home stretch of the
fantasy seasons, so that's hanging in the balance as well.

(04:45):
You've got a couple of teams here that have great
a great number of weapons that you would be deploying
for fantasy purposes, but also just general football notes. As
you started the show was here's two teams that are
fighting for the playoffs, one of which was left for
dead off of the trade they made right as the

(05:07):
season started. The Dallas Cowboys but Dak Prescott has been fantastic.

Speaker 3 (05:12):
So it's this is the big.

Speaker 1 (05:14):
Testing grounds right with the Lions, and they're banged up secondary,
but all the luminaries there does the Dan Campbell school
of hard knocks still work?

Speaker 3 (05:25):
Now?

Speaker 1 (05:26):
The Dallas Cowboys to get to this game now, Yeah,
letting me down so far in a large way, huge way.
I picked them last night, and and I had to
dodge text messages from my wife's family today because I
got a couple. You picked the Cowboys to win. Yeah,
I picked the Cowboys to win. Letting me down, absolutely,
letting me down, letting me doshing your soul right now,

(05:47):
Dak Prescott just got picked off on a on a
you know, it was a bad pass to throw.

Speaker 3 (05:52):
It was a big deflection.

Speaker 1 (05:53):
Was one of those short in route passes where the
dB is able to arrive at the wide receiver the
same time the ball bounces up in the air. The
deflection is picked off by the Lions, and a couple
of plays later, it's Isaac Tesla in the end zone.

Speaker 3 (06:08):
For a touchdown.

Speaker 1 (06:09):
So it is now a twenty seven to nine Lions
lead over the Dallas Cowboys. Not even a minute gone
by in the third quarter, he added another seven points
towards your over total within a minute.

Speaker 3 (06:22):
Look, okay't believe you didn't yell and screen when that happened.
Oh the over, Oh the overs coming now.

Speaker 1 (06:28):
No, No, I'm a broadcast professional, like I expect you
now at this point, knowing you for so long to
have T shirts that you were every day and depending
on what you have on the game, a T shirt
that just says over or under and you pick your.

Speaker 3 (06:43):
T shirt, that's actually not a bad idea. Got the under?

Speaker 1 (06:47):
You can color code those sell us. But yeah, interesting
game thus far. A couple of for the Cowboys, settling
for three field goals, some curious play calling in the
first half, a lot more for the run game than
I would have expected, given the fact that there's you
can't name any of the guys in the secondary for.

Speaker 3 (07:07):
The Lions, and they they're banged.

Speaker 1 (07:09):
Up coming in uh and they've had more guys lost
due to injury as this season or as this game
war on, I should say so a little bit of curiosity.
Shott and I'm are also not being very aggressive in
terms of down distance third downs, settling for field goals,
you know, winning against the Lions with field goals. I

(07:29):
hope he knows that. Hope he understands that. Now, Yeah,
only average point one point per game, less than you.
You would have to you would have to kick a
lot of field goals. You'll beat the Lions in this game.

Speaker 3 (07:39):
Lions are averaging twenty nine to two a game coming in.

Speaker 1 (07:42):
I did see Knight Train Lane make a good play
a few minutes ago, so that was pretty good.

Speaker 3 (07:47):
That's a little update I did not see.

Speaker 4 (07:48):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (07:49):
Now it's part of this game. We have the play
of the Day. The Play the Day, of course, is
brought to you by tire rack dot Com. For over
forty years, Tyrack's been uping customers find the right tires
for how, what and where they drove, shipped and free,
backed by free road hazard protection with convenient installation options
like mobile tire installation. Tire ac dot Com is the
way tire buying should be. Well, we have these two

(08:10):
teams squaring off on a Thursday night.

Speaker 4 (08:12):
You know.

Speaker 1 (08:12):
The play of the day is coming from the Motor City.
Jamir Gibbs take it away.

Speaker 3 (08:17):
Golf up under center, single back his Gibbs. They give
it to Jamir Jamir into the end zone, touchdown, Detroit Lions.
Good work up front, good work by the back, and
six on the board for Detroit. Good work everybody, good work. Yeah,
the play by play guy tell me good way, Hey,
good work, good work. Good work on the floor, good
work on the floor, all of you.

Speaker 1 (08:35):
Yes, Ron, I've gotta fire you. I've got to fire you.
Jamir Gibbs in the end zone. He's having a big
night tonight. He's got sixty yards receiving, only twenty yards rush.
The Lions don't have any rushing attempts so far tonight.
I think he has three and Montgomery's got a couple,
but still twenty seven to nine is the lead. Jamiir

(08:55):
Gibbs and really mean this. You know, we talked about
this a little bit a few weeks ago, Like there's
moments I remember the last couple of years when we've
talked about Josh Allen saying there's times when I see
Josh Allen on a drive and I go, He's the
best quarterback I've ever seen, just the way just sometimes
certain drives down the field knowing I'm gonna put the
ball I need to, I'm going to tuck the ball

(09:16):
when I need to. I'm gonna like there's some and
physically you know he's not going to fail. There's times
I get that vibe from Josh Allen. There's times I
watch Jamiir Gibbs and I go, he's the best running
back in the NFL in the last fifteen years. There's
other guys who've been really good. I've had some really
good running backs. The end of Adrian Peterson's error was
in the early to mid teams. But there's times when

(09:37):
I look at this and I go, there is nobody
that can hold a candle to Jamior Gibbs, and it's
kind of fun that they're looking at. They showed Barry
Sanders and Jamier Gibbs on the sideline together a little
bit before the game. Barry at the game get because
Gibbs is the closest thing we've really had to Barry
Sanders over the course of the past fifteen to twenty
years in the NFL as excited. He's kind of like

(10:00):
Barry Sanders two point oh. Barry didn't catch a lot
of passes out of the backfield, wasn't part of the
game right, but he is so electric and he makes
people miss at of Barry Sanders level and look great,
great runs by Derrick Henry in the past fifteen years.
I mean, I mean runs of seasons by Derrick Henry. Bye,
you want to even go all the way back, I

(10:20):
said the end of Adrian Peterson. I mean more like that,
the twenty thirteen twenty fourteen era of Adrian Peterson. But
then you've had Jonathan Taylor come in and have some
really big years. Barkley last year had a really big year.
You go back a couple of years, so there's been
running backs. It's not like the positions had a lot
of dirth at it. But I watched Jamir gibbson I go,
I want to give him the ball on every single play.

(10:40):
But the big thing is that he affects the game
in both capacities rights as a runner and receiver. You
know he's off and he's sprinting to daylight on a
little flair that looks like a nothing play and becomes
a sprint to daylight, And you watch that with such
regularity whenever they do the tributes to Barry Sanders, like,

(11:01):
can you add an extra minute of video? Give folks
really an idea because at this point it's a long
time since he walked away.

Speaker 3 (11:08):
From the game that's twenty five years.

Speaker 1 (11:10):
He's like a YETI at this point, he's there, like
we know him, but like, yeah, but the memory of
Barry Sanders the player, like it's a mythological kind of
thing at this point. Oh yeah, that guy, because I
watched him. But you remember the stat lines. It was
like the the raptors of Jurassic Park testing a fence.

Speaker 3 (11:30):
Oh there he goes.

Speaker 1 (11:32):
Damn it, he's he's unleashed and he's out into the secondary.
You ain't catching him. And if you get in his way,
he's gonna run through you or run right around you.
And we watched that career and certainly as a as
a Bears guy, Chicago kid watched an awful lot of
Lions football, so nobody else had to because it was
generally losing football, although Wayne Fonce had put together some

(11:53):
good runs. But all in all, Jamiir Gibbs and give
me some Christian McCaffrey mixed in there. Go back to
the original and that's goes last century when you're talking
about Roger Craig and how he affected a game. But yeah,
right now, what Jamir Gibbs has become, it's absurd. It's
what Bjhon Robinson is supposed to be if they'd actually
use him such exit about a Fresca exit. Swellen Dome,

(12:17):
Jason Smith.

Speaker 3 (12:18):
Mike Harbon.

Speaker 1 (12:18):
Now, while we have been talking in the last couple
of minutes, a huge development on Thursday Night Football, both
for this game and the season. Cowboys are driving down
twenty seven to nine again early in the third quarter,
still lots of time left. Cowboys have to start not
kicking field goals. Dak throws a fade in the end
zone for Cede Lamb, who nearly comes down with a

(12:41):
big circus one handed catch very similar to what we
saw Trailon Burks do on Sunday, but he can't catch it.
Ball hits the ground incomplete pass right away. Ceedee Lamb
puts both of his arms up and you can see
one of his fingers looks like it's bent all the
way to this side. He stands up and he has

(13:03):
looked at. He has a tough time getting up. He
is looked at by the Dallas Cowboys medical team. He
has escorted off the field and it looked like he
was having trouble with his right arm. Now it looked
like it like the fing you can see the finger
being bent, and Okay, we'll get back in the locker
and we'll take care of that seat.

Speaker 3 (13:21):
He'll be out in five minute.

Speaker 1 (13:22):
Yeah, But the way he was walking was very stilted,
where it almost like when you see someone with a
shoulder injury, when you can tell they're walking, you're getting
one arm is moving and the other one is just
absolutely still by their side. That's kind of what it
looked like for Ceedee Lamb walking off the field. Now,
we don't know. I'm just going by what we saw. Again,
this is information. It's just a couple of minutes old

(13:44):
about what we've been able to see while we're talking.
But it looked like Ceedee Lamb off to the locker room,
going off right now they're showing him again and it
looks like his arms are moving a little bit better,
but he is not moving back towards the field.

Speaker 3 (13:58):
He's moving back.

Speaker 1 (13:58):
I believe he came back out out and now is
going back into the locker room.

Speaker 3 (14:02):
We'll have an update on that as soon as we know.

Speaker 1 (14:05):
But it looks like he's a little bit better, but
it's it's really hard to tell because no helmet on.
Medical personnel surrounding him as he goes in the locker room,
he becomes one of those all right, is he walking tough,
like wants to look tough in the moment, and then
he'll get back into the locker room and whatever is
ailing m becomes a magnified issue. But came out, watched

(14:26):
the rest of that Dallas scoring drive and immediately headed
back towards the locker.

Speaker 3 (14:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (14:30):
Like, he also hit his head. If you see the
other replay of this, he came down and his head
landed on the turf. So I don't know if that's
part of the evaluation for CD Lamb as well. So
I got to think with what they're looking at for him,
whether it's his finger, whether it's his shoulder, it's his head.
I think we've seen the last of CD Lamb for
this game. Yeah, it was an interesting play because where
Dak threw the ball, he can towarts his body. He's open,

(14:53):
but he expected more into the field to play, whereas
Dak was going more towards the sideline and you know
the and the boundary of the end zone. So he
contorts and hits and just it's a mess. Is really
really the easiest, I think, most complete way to say
it's because at this point, you could tell me it's

(15:14):
almost any part of his body and I'd believe you.

Speaker 3 (15:16):
That's the way.

Speaker 1 (15:17):
Yeah, you don't tell me a leg injury, I'd believe you.
You can tell me it's his fingers are broken, I'd
believe you. Shoulder, jam head, hit the turf, all of
those things, check check, checks. So we'll see what the
update becomes here in the next couple of minutes. Meanwhile,
Cowboys get in the end zone for a touchdown to
cut it to a twenty seven to sixteen lead. Javonte

(15:39):
Williams goes in from a couple of yards out, So
we have a game again, at least for now the
lines with the lead.

Speaker 3 (15:48):
What does this do, Mike Harmon for the over in
the game seven sixteen, Yeah, we're at wait stop, wait,
thirty thirty seven in a row forty hang on twenty
seven forty forty thirty.

Speaker 1 (16:07):
Forty three nicely yeah yeah forty three.

Speaker 3 (16:10):
There we go. Yeah, No, good for you. Mary, Mary
mac Wow, Mary Mac Wow? What do you play? Just
killed America. You're in the globe. You're whamageddoning people right now.

Speaker 1 (16:22):
You're just absolutely obliterated about hundreds of thousands of people.
I'll listen to a sports show. They're not gonna play
wham I will get Wamageddon Mary Mac that's just cold
blooded grinch unless Mary is in a Whamageddon contest. She
has headphones on, proving that I can't hear the song
I'm gonna play Hit the Knock. Everybody else out? Yeah,

(16:44):
Bakia Ellie like in Batman right when the Joker when
the U When when Vicky Vale gets put this on
and she puts on the gas mask and everybody else
gets Yeah. So twenty seven to sixteen love an update
on Ceedee Lamb coming up straight ahead? Wait a minute,
we got Monci Bolanos has a You have an update
for est Monster.

Speaker 5 (17:04):
Yes, yes, Lamb has been ruled out for the rest
of the game with the concussion.

Speaker 3 (17:07):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (17:08):
Okay, so again that that didn't seem like we'd see
ceed Lamb. There's Monty's got it right there, Thank you,
MONSI concussion for Lamb. He is out for the rest
of the game. We have more football, and believe it
or not, we have a huge basketball ending to a
game you gotta hear and the team that won. You're
not gonna believe it. When I say they have absolutely
no problems. Right now, that's next, right here? Who's that team,

(17:30):
Jason and Mike Fox. I mean you would not it's
the other team problem, because Mike and I clearly have problems.
At least Harmon, he's betting all his kids' college funds
on the over on this game.

Speaker 3 (17:42):
Almost there.

Speaker 2 (17:44):

Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Harmon. You like points, you love Tonight's Thursday
night football game the Lions beat the Cowboys forty four
point thirty thanks to three touchdowns from Jamiir Gibbs almost
one hundred and twenty total yards, a huge win for Detroit,

(18:55):
joining us now on the hotline nobody Better NFL on
Fox Insider extra Ordinaire Jay Glazier. He's on Twitter at
Jay Glazer Jay Happy Thursday.

Speaker 3 (19:04):
Man, how's it going?

Speaker 4 (19:06):
Oh je great man? How you guys doing?

Speaker 3 (19:08):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (19:08):
Are you doing as great as Jamiir Gibbs. I don't
know about I don't anybody's doing as good a Jamior Gibbs.

Speaker 4 (19:12):
Everybody's doing the greatest Jamar Gizzins right now. I mean
Mark Gibbs, unbelievable. What a mismatch he is for everybody.
You know, it's interesting also just you know, you see
this flying team. You know I was talking about culture, right, culture,
coaching culture and the culture of Dan Campbell brings fact
that they just won their fifteenth game after a loss

(19:32):
that that is unreal, Like you know, other teams know
they lose and they start going downhill and Cambell with
that culture, he's like, hey man, we're gonna make sure
we you talk about correcting your mistakes and fixing your mistakes.
There is nobody obviously doesn't better for you to come
back sixteen losses in a row will win the next time.

(19:52):
That's unreal.

Speaker 1 (19:53):
And you know, and the thing is, it's kind of
apropos that he was at the game tonight because I
think Jamiir Gibs is probably the closest thing we've into
Barry Sanders in the last fifteen years.

Speaker 4 (20:02):
No, no, no, no, no, there's nothing like Barry but
Barry Standers. Man. I listen, I covered the NFL back
Barry Sanders, and I remember, actually was my there's my
one my first weeks of CBS this I think it

(20:25):
was my first week of CBS when he retired, and
I had that the Lions are like trying to take
his money back because my first scoops ever had for
a national lywork. But man, you know, covering Barry, I remember,
you know, being a giant practice and seeing all the years,
the different people that they would put in practice to
play Barry Sanders, and it's like and then they had

(20:47):
all these different drills for Barry Sanders, was like, hey,
you know, playing Detroit, this Streek, make sure there's four
guys around him and all are like, hey, we're gonna
have you know, the quickest little receiver is gonna play
Barry Sanders for the Scout. It was unbelievable. I remember,
I forget it. I think it was straight handed. And
told me he's like one time he like Barry never

(21:08):
talked to Barry and I are great, like, you know,
we've become good friends, you know, and there you know,
since then, done a bunch of appearances. He's so humble,
he's like the most humble warrior. And I think it
was straighthanded. I'm pretty sure. And Michael wasn't you. I'm sorry,
but he said, like, you know, he's like, man, it's
like a highlight that like I got Barry kind of one.
I want to tackle him. And I was like, yeah,

(21:29):
I got up start talking smack and Barry said I'll
be right back. And Michael's like, I'm sorry, mister.

Speaker 3 (21:39):
That sounds about right. That's that's the guy.

Speaker 1 (21:42):
Barry Sanders response, mister Sanders, Yeah, mister Sanders.

Speaker 4 (21:48):
I'll be right back. I'm sorry, mister Sanders.

Speaker 3 (21:54):
The impressive part of this one's Jay I.

Speaker 1 (21:56):
They kept Jared Goff clean did a lot of time
talk about the Dallas defense and the rise Up. They
got humbled tonight forty four on them and the Clean
Jersey Club for Jared Goff.

Speaker 4 (22:09):
Yeah, I think, you know, the Offensive Vine doing a
great job. By the way, Frank Ragnow like, wow, he's
unbelievable because you know he's gonna come back right And
you know, Frank Ragnow he has a different like pain
threshold than the rest of the planet. So you know,
he told the lines like, yeah, he's got this little
hamstring twins, you know, not a big and they call

(22:31):
a m a riot and it's a complete hamstring tear.

Speaker 3 (22:35):
A grade three question and his mind, he's.

Speaker 4 (22:39):
Like, that's just a little twinch. I'm good, Like it's
just a little little pulls up. He just grabbed a
little like it was a complete grade three tear. Just
goes to show you the difference, you know, Frank Bracknow
and everybody else. And his credit too. I think he
didn't want to just sit there and take money and
say I'm just just sitting and get paid to recover.
He's a warrior. But once that was off the table

(23:02):
for them, they're like, all right, we got to deal
with what we got here. We got to come together.
There is No, there's nothing else, right, there's no cavalry, right,
the cavalry have to be in this room right here.
And they definitely stepped up. And what they did to
that defensive front was really impressive, especially that that defensive
tackle rotation they had going there. You know, they got
all those d tackles. So people like Jamior Gibbs can't

(23:23):
do what they did tonight.

Speaker 1 (23:25):
Now, Jay, for the Cowboys, they have been red hot offensively,
still a nice night offensively. Tonight they lose c d Lamb,
you know, concussion protocol for him. How do you see
the next month for the Dallas Cowboys? Are they still
arrow up or they still Hey the Cowboys still the Cowboys?
How do you see it after tonight?

Speaker 4 (23:41):
First of all, I've been the Cowboys. Look, kewboys have
been through a lot this year, all right, so we
have to look. They'd like to be the greatest reality
show in the league. They have that, right, but sometimes
it wears on you. I feel like tonight they kind
of caught up from a little bit, right, and they've
been through a lot. And I say they've been through
a lot. Well, let's go we pre season. We brought

(24:01):
all Michael Parsons, right, she had all that, yeah, that
you're dealing with, right, then you have the defense and
obviously all the trades. But obviously mars on neland and
I think with Marshall neland the team ended up coming together.
I thought what they did, with what Brian Schottenheimer did
and Dak and Solomon Thomas and everybody in that locker
room had. I I really think that, you know, they

(24:23):
came together. You know, I said it this weekend. There's
only a couple of times in life you really get
to find out who you truly are as people, and
they did by coming together. And they have and now
this loss has nothing to do with it. See how
they responded the last few weeks. But I you know,
it's almost like tonight, I just saw like a team
who's looked a little bit tired from just you know,

(24:45):
I shouldn't think. Look, they played on you know, Thanksgiving,
had an emotional you know game there to have an
emotional a couple of weeks, it just seems a little
off to me tonight. And they have a Detroit Lions team.
Dan Campbell's back against the wall. I think you're gonna
get everything thrown at you.

Speaker 1 (25:01):
Yeah, a couple of big plays by the defense tip
balls to and one to seal the win. Another thing
that the the narratives and and everybody coming out of
the woodwork, including former players. Uh in Steeler Land with
Mike Tomlin. Uh, we're we're at that point in the
season again for him where everybody is now calling, calling

(25:21):
for his head. Uh, you know, how does he respond?
You know, these final couple of games here with the
a little bit of a different makeup for this offense
and where the team is.

Speaker 4 (25:33):
Look, they still got obviously the horses over there if
they want to do it, they're still in contention for
the title. But you know, I just you know it's
to hear everybody coming with the fire Tomlin chance, Like,
can this guy's giving you, you know, two decades of
no losing seasons and you know, fun through a lot
of things to continue building that culture over there. That

(25:53):
bout me a little bit. But about him, no, Like
he's just like just Mike is a like the amount
of times the thing bothers him over the years, I
mean I could probably count him on like one hand,
maybe maybe three fingers, Like he don't get to him.

Speaker 3 (26:13):
He's on Twitter at Jay Glazer That is at Jay
Glazer Jay as always, Buddy, appreciate your time. Thanks for
stopping by tonight. We'll talk to you next week. Have
a great one, appreciate it. Be good mister, mister Sanders, mister,
I like that one. I'll be right back. I'll be
right back.

Speaker 1 (26:30):
Look, I've had the great opportunity to sit and sit
down and chat with Barry Sanders. There are times where
you can get him to start rolling and he starts
having these memories and he gives you a three minute story.
There are other times where you get very much that
uh why he and Harold Bayn's two of my favorites.

Speaker 3 (26:45):
Just go to work. I'll be right back. Oh I
I pissed off Barry Sanders. He's gonna make me look
silly out here on the edge the next time. This
is not gonna go well for me. I'm sorry. I'm sorry.
You gon't imagine. There were plenty of guys that did
that right. They got him once. But yeah, yeah, yeah,
that Scarry's coming right back to I'll be back around again.

(27:06):
Sometimes it's on the same play. Don't worry, I'm coming back.
I'll be out here, but I'm coming all the way
back to your side there, right back, just to make
you look foolish.

Speaker 1 (27:13):
We got more on Thursday Night Football, but coming up
next a Titanic night in the NBA for Lebron James.

Speaker 3 (27:20):
But not why you think that's next? Fox. If you
started Jamir Gibbs, you're pretty happy thirty seven in a PPR,
Not so much.

Speaker 1 (27:30):
If you started George Pickens just five and thirty seven,
you got Cole.

Speaker 3 (27:37):
You had a lot of field goals. Hopefully you started
Brandon Aubrey, he got you twenty. Harmon started dak In Guillotine.
He did. He only got eighteen points. Now he thinks
he's gonna get knocked out. Hey. Fox Sports Radio, Jason Smith,

(27:57):
Mike Harmon Live, Happy Holidays, Holidays. Our holiday party was today,
Yeah it was yeah, hollay party. Fox Sports Radio, Wings
Die Coke my kind of party.

Speaker 1 (28:09):
I got there after all the food had been carted away.
I sat in traffic like a dope.

Speaker 3 (28:14):
Yeah a long time. That's a bad call. By you
have a bad call, Yeah, call it happens.

Speaker 1 (28:19):
Difference of leaving fifteen minutes later because you take a
phone call from an insurance providers like all right, I'd
hung up I'm gonna go now. Wait now it's saying
two plus hours all right, good time.

Speaker 3 (28:31):
Much like George Pickens from the End Zone, Harmon is
shutout of food at the Christmas party. Fortunately I'd made
a nice chicken soup that was here in the fridge.
You did wait, you did it?

Speaker 2 (28:41):
Was it was?

Speaker 3 (28:42):
It was good? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (28:43):
No, no, you brought it and you actually need to
tell the truth now you brought it in last night.
Forgot it was here.

Speaker 3 (28:48):
Was very happy when you got it. Happy.

Speaker 1 (28:49):
Oh, I forgot it happened it to the freezer. Lookast
night and instead it was here waiting for me today.

Speaker 3 (28:56):
That's nice. So you know, it didn't have to come
out of pocket to buy some yea, sometimes you win,
sometimes you don't win. So how it goes?

Speaker 1 (29:03):
Now here we are speaking of winning tonight. A huge
story in the NBA. The Lebron James streak over twelve
hundred games consecutive double digit score came to an end
tonight in the Lakers win over the Raptors. And it's
really I feel like it's our fault because we talked

(29:26):
about this two nights ago. It was two I went
back and I found through I said, I know We
talked about that this week. Two nights ago, we said,
you know, the streak is coming to an end this season.
At some point this season, Lebron James's point soaring streak
is coming to an end because he's the third option
every night. Some nights he's the fourth option, and on

(29:47):
nights when guys get on big heaters, if he has
a bad shooting night getting to ten points, he might
not get there. Two nights later, the streak was over.
So it's really our fault. JJ Reddick, I know you
hate me, but I'm sorry it's my fault. I ended
Lebron James the streak by talking about I think he's
gonna be like our guest Jack Campbell, talking about yeah,
and they moved the ball. But we got the job done, right,

(30:08):
We got the w And for Lebron James, I'm gonna
think that he's gonna do everything he can to just
make it about the smart basketball play and trusting Rui
Hachimura to light it up because as of now he
is their three point option. But all of it to say, uh, yeah,
that's this unconscionable streak. Right when we think about all

(30:32):
of these, you know, Miles Stones and usually it's the career.
We talk about career hits or or point score, like
Lebron breaking that record and longevity.

Speaker 3 (30:42):
But to do this, what was it, twelve ninety seven? Yeah,
that's great, man, that's insane.

Speaker 1 (30:47):
Until I decided to get involved, and now I'm the
greatest shutdown defender in the NBA.

Speaker 3 (30:51):
Yeah, until we talked about it.

Speaker 1 (30:53):
And the greatest shutdown defender whoever you put on, Lebron
does about I just had to the silver tungue prince
of the court room. All I had to do is
say it, look what happened that combined with his shot
being four for seventeen tonight also yeah.

Speaker 3 (31:07):
For five from three, did have eleven assists though.

Speaker 1 (31:09):
Now, look, that's the thing is you watch the beginning
of this game, and you can tell that offensively, Lebron
is still trying to find his way right up and
down the floor, whether it's his conditioning, whether it's his
spacing on the floor. Because the offense is different, you're
gonna tell that Lebron is still trying to find his way.

Speaker 3 (31:25):
Is this the basketball karma?

Speaker 1 (31:26):
The basketball gods getting back at him for yucking it
up with the bench, maybe, which really ticked your guy off. Yeah,
could wait that video of Reddick cooking? What the hell's
he doing over there? Why is he talking to their bench?

Speaker 4 (31:40):
Now?

Speaker 3 (31:40):
While this streak ended for Lebron and again, I'm your
shut down defender. Let me know what you want.

Speaker 1 (31:45):
I'll be the cooler for you. I'll be able to
shut stutch. Could you grow a mustache like William H.

Speaker 3 (31:48):
Macon?

Speaker 4 (31:49):
Oh no?

Speaker 3 (31:50):
Or do I have to buy you one that you
just put on for the for the gig. I don't
know that I could.

Speaker 1 (31:54):
Grow a mustache. I mean physically, I don't know that
I'm capable of it. I think that's I don't know
that I can. I really I grow really thick beard,
really fast beard. But the mustache like it's it's strange
like you like I would have, like I could grow
a James Harden full beard before I think you even
get a little bit of a hint of interest.

Speaker 3 (32:13):
It's kind of a mustache going there. Yeah no, no,
it's an interesting look. No, it's I couldn't do it.
I couldn't do it.

Speaker 1 (32:20):
If I just get mutton chops, keep your head and
grow the mutton chops. If I could take a pill
where and there were hardly any side effects. That side
effects include death, dismemberment. If I could take a pill
where I would never have to shave again, I would
take that pill. Yeah, I would take that. To give
me that pill right now, I'll take to them. What's
the worst side effect you'll you'll go in for?

Speaker 3 (32:41):
You know, when they when they start out.

Speaker 1 (32:43):
With stuff like, hey, you know, dry mouth, uh, getting tired,
those uh side effects as long as the rest of.

Speaker 3 (32:52):
The ad, oh it is, yeah, yeah, here's all that now.
Because I used to be.

Speaker 1 (32:55):
Able to just bury it in text, but then legally
they can't do it anymore.

Speaker 3 (33:00):
Yeah, how long is this commercial? Sixty seconds?

Speaker 4 (33:03):
All right?

Speaker 1 (33:03):
Great, I wrote copy? No, we need copy for twenty
three seconds. Why because the last thirty seven seconds need
to be all the different things that could happen to you,
all these stores that statistically are truly relevant. And then
we can do a catch all at the end when
they get to things like sudden death. It's like, oh, okay,
all right, I mean, of course I think we all
draw the line at sudden death. Well, I mean that
might just be wanted a billion but yeah, no, But

(33:25):
but what once they get to things like, you know,
body parts falling off and and you know, your eyeballs
may pop out of your sockets, and.

Speaker 3 (33:32):
I'm like, who is this? I really I've seen that
in the movie. Is that really worth it? I mean
it looks so great where people are running through fields
of flowers and feeling awesome and playing with dogs and dancing.
This is great.

Speaker 4 (33:43):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (33:43):
Oh my goodness, yeah yeah yeah. I forget the one home.

Speaker 1 (33:46):
I have the biggest crush on the girl uh in
the new one. I don't even know what it is,
but every time it's not like, Wow, she's gorgeous. I
forget what it is, but she's no Now I forget
what it has piqued my interest. Yeah yeah, wait, no, no, no,
no a doing she's blonde. And you know the one
thing is she's got the outfit where the pants are

(34:06):
like really high, and I'm like, boy, that's kind of
an odd look with the pants are like really like
like nineties like like that's how people would yeah in
the nineties, Like I'm like, oh my god, she's I'm like, oh,
I'll watch this commercial.

Speaker 3 (34:17):
I didn't even know the commercials for, but it's for
something like that. It's taking pictures and something else.

Speaker 1 (34:21):
I don't know, and that the voiceover comes in and says,
but we can never stop being American.

Speaker 3 (34:29):
Oh man, I'll tell you so again. I wish I
could remember that. But yeah, one thing we can't stop,
can't stop being.

Speaker 1 (34:38):
A go go stream something, go bing stream something on
paramount and tell me how that how you feel about that, pal.
But this is the thing about Lebron James, right, because
this is this is really I can't get over this.
The best team in the NBA is the Oklahoma City
Thunder and that's not close.

Speaker 4 (34:56):
Right.

Speaker 1 (34:56):
They could win seventy three so if they won seventy
five games, I would be surprised. It's the line out
of Moneyball where Brad Pitt's talking about where they are, Like,
it's that gap, then there's fifty feet of crap, and
then there's us. The gap between the first and second
best team in the NBA is a great gap. But
the second best team in the NBA or the Lakers. Okay,

(35:17):
look at the end of the game, look at tonight
what happened? Right, And this is where Lebron can walk
around being a hero. We're gonna hear from him coming
up in a bit talking about this. His streak ending.
This streak ended because on the final play of the game,
again this is on the road in Toronto, no Luca.
Final play of the game, Lebron James has a chance
to get to the get to the rack for a

(35:38):
potential game winning hoop, has a chance to maybe get foul,
get to the free throw line, make a couple of
free throws, and extend that streak of double double digit
scoring games. But instead Lebron does this, and this ends
the game for the Lakers.

Speaker 3 (35:54):
Just make sure you get the last shot. Maybe weirs there.
He goes where to chums check it corner Reay to
win the game.

Speaker 2 (36:09):
Saints gave him the basketball.

Speaker 3 (36:13):
So there was Lakers TV on the call.

Speaker 1 (36:16):
Lebron passes up what could be a game winning shot,
gets the ball to Ruey Hachimura. Ruey Hatchimura makes the
three and the Lakers win. Why are the Lakers the
second best team in the NBA? The mark of a
great team is when you are missing your stars or
your stars play poorly, you still win. And the Lakers

(36:36):
go on the road again against a pretty good Raptors
team that nobody thought was going to be any good,
and they win without Luca big night from Austin Reeves,
he goes for forty four. Lebron terrible from the floor
four to seventeen, did have eleven assists. But the Lakers
now have won big games this year without Luca, without
Austin Reeves, without Lebron. Doesn't matter what happens, they still

(36:58):
find a way to win.

Speaker 4 (37:00):
You know.

Speaker 3 (37:00):
Match that up with a team like the Knicks, who
as great as their supporting cast is. If Jalen Brunson
stinks the Knicks can't win, all right, there's a big deal.
That's why Tuesday night, when it happened, I told you,
and and the and the rumors for Giannis came out
the next day. It was the Knicks are getting Yannis
because they know that in the playoffs or something happens
and Jalen Brunson's not Jalen Brunson, we're going to lose.

(37:21):
So that's where they're gonna go.

Speaker 1 (37:22):
Get Yannis because well, he's a guy that's gonna win
games for us, even if Jalen Brunson is not having
a big game, right, that that's how it's gonna go.

Speaker 3 (37:29):
But that that's the.

Speaker 1 (37:30):
Difference between good teams and great teams and the Lakers
right now are a great team. Now the thunder are
in a different strat, calling them great would be an insult.
He can't just call us great. Yeah, you lost the
game of the Portland Trailblazers. That's the only thing I
can say about you. But that's how good the Lakers
are is that they're able to win without their stars

(37:50):
on nights when Lebron stinks and passing up the game
potential game winning shot to hit Ruy Hachimura, and Lebron
jumped in hot Chamura's arms right after the game, right
after he makes the shot, like the Lakers have no
problems right now. Man, the Lakers are so good and
being able to win like this, that's dangerous, man, for
the rest of the NBA.

Speaker 3 (38:08):
And I'll even throw this on there.

Speaker 1 (38:09):
I guarantee you if you hooked up Lebron to a
lie detector, there would be a large part of that
would say it's a relief that this streak is over
and they were able to break it in a way
where Lebron's the hero right passes up the game winning shot,
gets it to Ruy Hachimora. This is a different Lakers team.
It's a different Eraror. It's a different everything for them.
And now it's not so much about all Lebron's streak

(38:31):
is over. It's Lebron unselfish helps us win a game.
There's no Laker fan contingent that doesn't want Lebron on
the team. Lebron is trying to find his way in
with Luca and Austin Reeves being the top two offensive
options on this team. Now the Lakers have no problems,
and to do it in a fashion like this, I
bet you Lebron's walking around going now. I'm glad because

(38:53):
I don't have to worry about this because it was
going to be a struggle some nights to get to
ten points just because I am the third option. Some
nights i'm the fourth op. I get if I have
a bad night shooting, I'm not gonna have enough time.
I'm going four to seventeen. May not get there because
other nights, if I have a bad night shooting, I'm
taking twenty five shots, I'm getting the ten points.

Speaker 3 (39:11):
I'm not there.

Speaker 1 (39:12):
I guarantee you this is a big relief for him
as well. I bean sure he wanted to keep the
streak going, want to keep going all the way to
the end of his career. I'm sure it would be
the case, but where is right now? Yes, I am
relieved that this is how it ended, and it ended
in a positive way for me. The Lakers are rolling
sevens right now. What's funny is this streak has never
really been brought up. It's been like lat and you know,

(39:35):
underlying causes, like an underlying condition like we're talking about
in some of these healthcare and medication ads. I don't
remember it really coming up with any great frequency until
he had the eleven point debut in November against Utah, right,
and then it became a wow. It was a struggle

(39:55):
to get there, you know, that keeps the streak alive.
It's like all of a sudden, he became a thing
now where people making money in the background this whole time.
Absolutely better. As we talked about it with Monte Belagno,
it's a bit earlier. You know, where you were making
five hundred bucks a game, so you know, thirty games,
there's your fifteen thousand dollars bet and this guy had
been able to cash for years and train on this.

(40:17):
But yeah, you have a four for seventeen nine. I
think the bigger thing is when when was the last
time he played thirty six minutes and didn't go to
the fall line?

Speaker 3 (40:24):
Yeah? Once?

Speaker 1 (40:25):
Yeah, I mean right, so he didn't even have that
for him. So eleven assists, six boards, one file. But
the eight points, you know, I'll still take. I think
over the balance the Nuggets when we get down to it.
But this is an impressive win. You know, the Raptors
are playing without your guy RJ.

Speaker 3 (40:43):
Barrett. Yeah, that's twenty a game that isn't But.

Speaker 1 (40:46):
I think if you're saying, okay, you're not playing with Luca,
we're not playing large. Yeah yeah, but you know it's
also the East of the stinks. But the fact of
the matter is, yet you are playing really well right
now sixteen and five, Lebron still trying to figure out
it's clunky and the shot is not there. And just
a couple of days ago there were a lot of

(41:07):
missives of suddenly he looked old. Right, it was the
Full Star Wars. Look how old you become? Suddenly he
became all of those forty one years.

Speaker 4 (41:16):
Just like that.

Speaker 1 (41:17):
Lakers have no problems where I think about that second
best team in the NBA. Everything is coming up sevens
time how to find out what's trending.

Speaker 3 (41:25):
In the wide world of sports.

Speaker 1 (41:26):
From someone who bet fifteen thousand dollars tonight that Lebron's
streak was gonna continue and lost.

Speaker 3 (41:33):
It's monte Bologna.

Speaker 5 (41:34):
No, you got confused. You move the decimal way too much.
I put fifteen cents.

Speaker 3 (41:37):
Oh okay, confused. I saw you were the person that
bet the fifteen round.

Speaker 5 (41:41):
No, no, I only put fifteen cents.

Speaker 7 (41:42):
You removed the decimal too much.

Speaker 3 (41:44):
For a fifteen cent bet for Lebron James. I mean
you can make dime bets at the at the let
it roll.

Speaker 5 (41:50):
You just let it you know, like when you're in
Vegas and you hit at the roulette table, you let
it let.

Speaker 7 (41:56):
It ri right, thank you. I was like, what am
I try to say? You let it ride, you let
it roll, let's let it roll.

Speaker 3 (42:02):
What are you talking about?

Speaker 4 (42:02):
Man?

Speaker 3 (42:03):
Man, I don't understand what you're saying.

Speaker 4 (42:04):
Man.

Speaker 7 (42:05):
That's me at the craps table. Man, I don't know
what I'm doing. Just throw the dice, Okay, did I win?

Speaker 5 (42:10):
They could tell me that I didn't, and I probably did,
and I would not know, and they would just take one.

Speaker 3 (42:14):
Legally, they would have to give you that money. That's gay.

Speaker 7 (42:17):
Oh good to know.

Speaker 3 (42:17):
It would have to pay Oh good to know. Because
the eye in the sky.

Speaker 7 (42:20):
They're paying attention.

Speaker 1 (42:21):
We'll pay attention. Okay, that's that actually counts against them,
pretty big man.

Speaker 7 (42:25):
I don't know how to play craps.

Speaker 5 (42:25):
I wish I did.

Speaker 7 (42:26):
It's it looks fun.

Speaker 3 (42:28):
It looks fun.

Speaker 7 (42:29):
I wish I knew what I was doing. All right, guys,
let's start in the NBA.

Speaker 3 (42:33):
Why not.

Speaker 7 (42:34):
You just talked about the Lakers. That's true.

Speaker 5 (42:36):
Other games that happened, well, the Celtics blew out the
Wizards one forty six to one oh one. The Timberwolves
outscore the Pelicans one twenty five to one sixteen. Julius
Randall twenty eight points and nine rebounds on that one.
Jazz top the Nets one twenty three to one ten.
And it was a close one between the seventy six
ers and the Warriors, but Philadelphia survived ninety nine to
ninety a, winning it on a tip shot from rookie

(42:57):
from rookie bj Edgecombe and it was Tyrese Maxi though
that was the leader for the seventy six Ers, ending
with thirty five points. The Warriors were already playing without
Steph Curry, without Jimmy Butler, and then they lost Draymond
Green to a right foot injury in the first half.
They were down twenty four points at one point, literally
came back in the seventy.

Speaker 7 (43:13):
Six ers survived.

Speaker 5 (43:15):
Other NBA news, Bucks star Jani Santa to Coombo is
gonna miss about two to four weeks because of a
calf strain. When it comes to the NFL, Week fourteen
has officially kicked off and the Lines defeated the Cowboys
forty four to thirty. Jared Goff threw for three hundred
and nine yards and a touchdown, while Dak Prescott threw
for three hundred and seventy six yards, one touchdown and
two interceptions.

Speaker 7 (43:34):
But it was a Jamier Gibbs kind of night.

Speaker 5 (43:36):
He had twelve carries forty three yards and three touchdowns,
plus seven.

Speaker 7 (43:40):
Catches for seventy seven yards.

Speaker 5 (43:42):
Also, Dallas wide receiver CD Lamb was ruled out in
the third quarter with the concussion, and Detroit safety Brian
Branch was carted to the locker room in the second
half with a left ankle injury. Other NFL news, well
Eagles will be without Jalen Carter on Monday nine for
their game against the Chargers. He underwent a procedure this
past Monday on both his and the Chargers of listed
quarterback Justin Herbert as limited in practice today, but the

(44:05):
Commanders did upgrade quarterback Jayden Daniels to be a full
participant in today's practice, so he is turning in the
right direction to start Sunday and Minnesota, But no practice
today for Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson. In college football, Billion
Napier is finalizing a five year deal to become the
next head coach at James Madison. Kansas State is hiring
a familiar face, calling Klin, to be their new head coach.

(44:25):
He was a quarterback for the Wildcats back in twenty
