I'm sure Todd Bowles and the crowd and everybody loves
the fact that Aaron Glenn is using his timeouts here
at the end of the game.

He is showing you he knows the rules, because that
will come into question once we actually have footballs flying
for real. So now you have proof of concept. Hey,
we could take a time out, we could get a big,
long drive, we could play for that tie.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
He wouldn't throw a hail Mary during the regular season
last year, but I'm gonna call all my time out
to the end of the first preseason Hey.

Hey, last night we talked a lot about Jerry Jones
finally having that moment of clarity after what is the
eighty six eighty seven years of his life of Hey,
if I get rid of the one high price guy,
I can build a defense that might be commensurate and

talked about that just last night. You don't think that
guy went back and watched and read the message boards
all off season about how horrid his coaching was, and
that the fact that there's a bunch of guys photoshopped
into Jets polos as the coach isn't waiting.

are gonna get their fourth stringers out there for one
final play down by eight against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
So I'll tell you preseason football, it is fantastic.

I gotta ask you this though, What was the over
runner for this game? Was it forty one.

Speaker 3 (02:46):
And a half?

Oh, that's a good question.

We're right at forty. We're right at forty right now.

Hold please, I should have known this. I should have
known we'd go to that.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
Oh no, no, thirty five and a half. So we
passed it. It's all round, it's all right. It is
the Jets, and they could get doc points if something
bad happening.

Speaker 4 (03:03):
But you know, yes, share that. Also, we talked about
very sparingly and quickly the age of Ultron and making
an analogy. So I watched a little of that today.
Tonight you began the age of club Nick.

Speaker 3 (03:16):
I'll tell you what.

Speaker 1 (03:17):
Look, there's a couple of really big story, fun stories
to get to here. Night two of the preseason. But
I'll tell you this because we talked about it last night.
The door is open for Fernando Mendoza to win the
starting quarterback job with the Raiders. We'll have more on
that coming up in a few minutes because boy to
Klint Kubiet, basically just say the door is open for it.
So what does he need. He's gotta have a lights

(03:38):
out preseason. He's gonna play more than Kirk Cousins. Yes,
when he's ready. The desire to see him will overwhelm
the desire of watching Kirk Cousins. Same thing for the Jets.
Right Gino Smith is ruled out of the game right
before with the foot injury. They said it was it's
not serious, it's regular season. He would play, but they're
going to exercise an abundance of caution. And Kate club

(03:59):
Nick rookie out of Clemson. We watched him start eighty
five games for Clemson over the course of the past
few years, comes in to start.

Speaker 3 (04:06):
And he looks pretty good.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
Didn't wasn't unbelievable, but look good like Mendoza look good.
The moment wasn't too big. Going through his progressions, he
threw the football really well. There was no rush, there
was no nervousness, and I really my favorite part was
I love the fact that he went through all his
progressions and didn't just throw the football to the first
guy who was open. Now, a couple of times he defaulted,

where's Garrett Wilson. But okay, I understand that throwing to
a guy that's that good, I get it.

Speaker 4 (04:34):
But you get excited when your rookie quarterback is immediately
throwing to your tight end multiple times. Yeah, yeah, get
the ball to him.

Speaker 3 (04:41):
I'm telling all to him.

Speaker 1 (04:42):
If Caid club Nick continues to have a great preseason,
he can start for the Jets in Week one, right,
Gino Smith is I know the whole Well, we brought
Geno in. He's gonna start, He's all. But yeah, you
know what, we kind of know who he is, and
if Caid Klubnick is really, really good, he's accelerating. I
already think I know at some point he's gonna start
for the Jets this year. Not from the perspective of, hey,

(05:04):
everybody starts a couple of quarterbacks a couple of times,
because that's how the NFL goes, but I mean the
desire to see him because he's a gamer, right. I mean, look,
he wears number ten. He kind of has Chad Pennington's hairline.
He kind of looks like Pennington a little bit. Like
he's fine a better arm, right, But the thing is
he reminds me a lot of Pennington, except yeah, he's
got a better arm, he's got boxing, he's got all

(05:24):
of this. He's smart. He knows where to go with
the football like he can. Honestly, I'm telling you he
could start if Gino Smith stays dinged up. Club Nick
is a gamer. He's one of those guys you get
him in the game and you look and say, wow,
you know, under pressure, this guy really performs.

Speaker 3 (05:39):
Had a bad senior year.

Speaker 1 (05:40):
But hey, just like Drew Aller, maybe he was really underdrafted,
because certainly Aler put on a show last night, and
club Nick looked really good today for the Jets getting
that emergency start, wasn't even prepped to start, didn't know
who was gonna start until today. Maybe that was a thing.
Maybe the Jets decided, let's play a little game here.
We'll hold out Gino. See what Kate Clubnick looks like
when we give him no notice to start, and Kate

(06:01):
Clubnick was pretty good tonight. I'm telling you, man, I've
said Kate Clubnick like eleven times now in the last
few minutes. But he was pretty good for the Jets tonight.
He put ten points on the board before his night ended.
He threw the football well, he threw the football to
his best receiver, he threw the football to tight end.
He moved the team up and down the field. This
was an impressive night overall. He's five out of seven

for fifty six yards and they ten points on the
boarder for his night was over. Yeah, that's a pretty
good opening.

Speaker 4 (06:29):
Well, the two step to Allen was the most effective
play that we saw all preseason.

Speaker 3 (06:35):
Yeah, I think Braylan Allen's okay, yeah.

Speaker 4 (06:39):
Ys, and the touchdown on that second drive, but hey,
Clubnick had to get the ball into his guts, so
it all works just so well. He did have a
completion to Cooper on that drive. But you have to
be excited at least the prospects of it. I'm seeing,
you know, the big thought pieces now not related to Clubnick,
but just the roster construct as a whole, that maybe

(07:02):
the Jets can overperform that five and a half win total.
That's sitting out there, and maybe if things break right,
based on the defense and what's been assembled there, that
they could knock on the door of the playoff spot.
I'm not quite so bullish in that regard, but that
would lend you perhaps Gino getting a little longer leash.
But that being said, we go back to Club Nick

(07:24):
in his collegiate career, just like you mentioned with Aler,
go back to their twenty twenty four seasons. Those are
two guys everybody was kind of thirsting towards the draft.
They didn't come out, and then Club Nick has a
bad year, falls to the fourth round, and now we'll
see if he gets his shot to become that guy
with the New York Jets. If nothing else, you saw

(07:44):
Garrett Wilson look going out of his way to make
plays for him immediately, Yeah, I have a preseason game
and he's saying, all right, I'm gonna go make a catch.

Speaker 3 (07:53):
I mean, Kate, club Nick.

Speaker 1 (07:54):
I'm telling you, we talk about all these guys that
are making names themselves in the preseason that are gonna
wind up starting at some point Carson Beck Cade, Club Nick,
maybe Drew Aller, depending on if something happens with Aaron Rodgers'
final year. You're seeing all of this happen. On the
other end, we have the Atlanta Falcons.

Speaker 3 (08:11):
Oh bo wow.

Speaker 1 (08:14):
Now look, I don't want to draw too many conclusions
from one game, one result, and what happens in your
first preseason game, but there was absolutely nothing to like
about the Falcons tonight.

Speaker 3 (08:29):
Everything was alarming. Everything.

Speaker 1 (08:32):
I know, you have backups, especially defensively, and Denver is
really good, but you know what, Denver started their backups too.
You didn't see a lot of their guys, and it
looked like it was a regular season Denver Atlanta game. Like,
here's Denver, who marched through the league last year, a
great defense, and Atlanta the first possession to a tongue
of Iiloa with a fumble and throwing the ball away

(08:53):
and then you got to pick six and it's what
is what is happening? They looked absolutely terrible, and I mean,
I mean again, it's one game. I get it, but man,
this first game and Tua comes out after the first series,
where it's like, okay, I completely get him coming out
after the first series. But there was absolutely zero to
hang your hat on and say this was positive. Other

(09:15):
than the fact that, Okay, well, at least we played
one game, right, we played one game. That's all you
have because this was ritten. This was the worst effort
if all the teams have played so far Week one
of the preseason, who's the team that raises.

Speaker 3 (09:28):
The alarm bells?

Speaker 1 (09:29):
And said, man, that's team I'm worried about the most.
It's the Atlanta Falcons one hundred and fifty percent.

Speaker 4 (09:33):
Yeah, we've talked about them a little bit in passing
because we've been monitoring the injuries and pending legal issues.
Now you get the word that James Pearce is gonna
miss it half the season following this felony charges that
he had against him. You already had lost Jylen Walker
from your defensive line. He heard it and got hurt
in camp. So he's done for the year. And when

we look at two, I mean, I'll give you a
little bit of a bright spot. Earlier today, American Samoa
beat the United States thirty eight thirty two in flag
football in Dusondorf, Germany. Talia tagla ta wah. Yeah, he's
brother Maryland from.

Speaker 3 (10:12):
Maryland, the Pride of Maryland. He had a big game.

Speaker 4 (10:15):
Tongue of I Looa. His brother had two hundred thirteen
yards and five scores.

Wow, that's a big game.

I mean, look, so well let's talk to the better
tongue of iloaf.

If Talia is playing, maybe I gotta start doing flag
football fantasy.

I don't even know? Can you do flag football fantasy?

I'm sure there's some market that's being established out there.
But okay, Yeah, so Talia Tungue of Iloa had himself
a big day as the America Samoa beat the US.
He also is a quarterback for the Houston Gamblers. Just
to bring it full circle, but yeah, we've talked about
the quarterback at length. Michael Pennocks Junior. I'm good for

everything except for getting hit. That was his quote from
the other night with Tua. We also know that that's
just implied when he takes the field. Yeah, I'm okay,
maybe sometimes good with everything except getting hit. They did
get three catches from Kyle Pitts today, so there's your
big win.

You think you should tell that to the lineman when
he goes in the hudle.

Speaker 1 (11:16):
Hey, guys, just so you know, I can't get hit, Okay,
all right, great, let's go here, Let's let's run the play.

They're immediately looking back on what kind of holiday gifts

some games by accident. But I'm starting to wonder, do
we have to put the Falcons in with the Browns
and the Jets and the rate like letting the Raid like,
do we have to put them at in there? And
the Dolphins like the not not the raid is really
but the Dolphins and the Jets and the Browns, like,

do we have to make room for the Falcons on
that list now? Currently taking for the number one pick,
you gotta do that.

you never throw it to me. It's like, you know,
I remember when I used to play football. The school
you had with a bunch of kids after school, and
it was it was the right mix of guys. It
was always a great game.

But once in a while I jump in and play
with like the older kids, and like it was like
because they needed a couple of people, well we want
to play seven on seven and we got to okay,
yeah i'll play.

Speaker 3 (13:05):
I'll play.

And it was always like the kids are like two
years older than me, and I would I would just
go out, you know, in the younger kids they would.

Speaker 3 (13:10):
Never throw to because they would just throw to their friends.

Speaker 1 (13:12):
And it'd be like, I just go out for a
pass every single time, and you're not not Why am
I even running? You're not gonna throw it to me.
That's gonna be Drake London.

Speaker 3 (13:19):
But that was good. Why why you go out for
a pass? Why don't mean go, but why do we
go out for a pass?

Speaker 4 (13:23):
You never throw it to your friends?

It doesn't matter.

I wasn't that worried about Cardio when I was ten
or eleven, and I don't think I was that concerned
about that.

Okay, yeah, I mean it was.

I mean yeah later in life, sure, but I mean like, hey,
I'm getting my steps in. That's what I would think
now in my fifties. But when I was ten, now,
I wouldn't think that.

Well maybe uh, those guys had gone to your pop
and said, hey, get his ass running?

Will you end him going? All right? Got that fast?

Speaker 1 (13:49):
I don't know what to tell you, and you know,
and you know, And I just thinking back like the
number of times that I would go down there and
I would play in jeans right like, because you know,
back in the in the eighties, like people didn't go
out and run around in sweats all the time, like
you played in jeans. So I would go down, Hey,
I'm going down to the school yard. You got your
jeans on? Yeah, and not don't wear my good pants on.

And I go down to playing him a touch football
or baseball or softball, and I'm playing jeans.

Speaker 4 (14:16):
For us, it was always did we give all of
the pairs of the uh the football pants back to
the school. Do we have any of those laying around
because we're gonna go create some chaos over on the diamond.

Speaker 1 (14:28):
Oh, yeah, who's wearing jeans. Don't cover him, He's not
gonna catch it. No thing is everybody wears jeans, yeah,
the old everybody wears jeans thing.

Speaker 4 (14:35):
Yeah, hey jeans buttonhook over there? Huh no.

Speaker 1 (14:39):
And that was the whole thing was like I remember
when I went I started playing Little League, and you know,
I would I would you wear your uniform?

Speaker 3 (14:46):
Obviously uniform was a coore thing, right to wear a uniform.

Speaker 1 (14:49):
And my grandmother the first game she went to, I mean,
she didn't know she shed you know, kids playing like
she had. She hadn't raised a kid in you know,
twenty five thirty years. She had no idea. So she
goes to my game and my grandfather tells me the
story after the game was over that I go out
there and play, and she watches and she said, you.

Speaker 3 (15:05):
Know, your grandmother said to me, whoa, they have uniforms.
Well what what?

Speaker 1 (15:09):
He goes down and plays in the schoolyard in his
in his jeans and and and and and T shirt.
Why they're wearing uniforms. Why why wouldn't he wear jeans?
And my grand grandfather said they would laugh at him
if he wore jeans.

Speaker 3 (15:23):
And that was the end of that conversation.

Speaker 4 (15:24):
Right, Yeah, And you ripped one into the gap and went,
stand up, double man, Why you dust your jeans off? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (15:34):
Going to baseball camp wearing jeans? Oh yeah, yeah, that's
I'm rough and tumble, I'm ana throwback.

Speaker 3 (15:38):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (15:38):
But if you were good, you would become the stuff
of legend.

Yeah.

He helps with the guy with the jeans.

No, you know what it looked like. I looked like that.

What was that commercial from a few years ago with
all the when it was like Farv and all the
other guys that were wearing regular Yeah, they're they're playing
just a game and the running around.

Running route.

Yeah, that's what I looked like. Oh yeah, and I'm
pretty sure I was wearing wranglers. I mean in the
eighties it was Wranglers, Lee or Levi's or tough skins.
Those are off skins with all you had, because tough
skins was yeah, hey, you can slide on concrete. They're
not You're not even gonna get a that's like not
a blip on them. Man, not comfortable. It's like wearing tinfoil.

But I'll tell you what, man, those tough skins they're
gonna be great.

I'll tell you what. Though, Farv had the five star
denim in the Advanced Comfort lines.

Then a Dodger fan has not actually seen they just
gave a stat that Blake Snell in his time with
LA has twelve regular season starts total twelve unusual.

I feel like every night for the Dodgers is like, hey,
we it's a superstar revealed night.

Tomorrow night. Jerry Royce is gonna pitch.

Speaker 5 (17:12):
That's a right, And come next month maybe Hey, o'tani's
a pitcher again. Hey that glassnow guy is still on
the rust.

I don't forget about him. Yes again, Brad Penny may
start a game or two. You never know, two nights
in a row. Eric Kanye might come out of the
bullpen tonight. Can't burn out Edwin Diaz as.

Long as they play the game over with the music
and the scoreboy, Yeah great, I'm all for it.

Sure. Look this is why.

Look we talk about this. We'll get to big football
story coming up in a second. But like, look, Blake Snell,
I think again, Steve Says pitching his first game since
signing as a free agent two years ago. But uh,
but they're all coming back. The starting pitching is coming back.
Everything is okay, right that they made the move for school.
They had to do it. They did it. Everything is good,

but I'm telling you, when you get to the playoffs again,
it's gonna be let's play roulette with that bull because
I know d has closed it out last night.

But I told you this is not an Edwin Daz year.

Speaker 1 (18:06):
He has great years and he has years where oh boy,
can we really stick with the guy another season? This
is one of those years for d. As you're going
to get to the playoffs, it's going to be is
Sasaki closing games?

Or who knows?

Maybe we are we can oral Hershey's or give us
an inning from the broadcast booth. He can come right down,
and we got the fifty five jersey ready for him.
Can he come down and give us an inning?

Well, the Dodgers didn't have a bullpen to start the
postseason last year, and remember Sasaki was not a good
starter last year. It was a shock when first off,
the Dodgers were not one of the better division winners,
so they had to play the wildcard series and really
needed Sasaki to close out games or else the bullpen
would have blown one of those. As we get toward postseason, yes,
it's trending toward them having the regular four man expensive

(18:50):
rotation that you're expecting the Dodgers to have the postseason,
the one that shut down top seed Milwaukee in the
NLCS last year. But just because these guys are coming
back doesn't mean they're their old selves yet. I mean,
Blake Snell, the reason he was at Triple A with
four starts, it was just get up the pitch count
after up over seventy pitches or so, so maybe he'll

(19:11):
be able to throw that tonight. It doesn't mean that
he was blowing them away at Triple A. He was
not at a ball. Yes, once he jumped to Triple
A with the rehab starts, not that great e er
a four and a half or five.

Speaker 4 (19:23):
How is bird Hooton's rehab going? Is he gonna be
able to pitch?

Speaker 3 (19:26):
Well, nobody can.

Speaker 5 (19:27):
Nobody can touch the knuckle curve, so they're good. So
I still say, Doug Raw, Doug Row, Yeah, you know
what wasn't There wasn't Lance Raw?

Did it? Was it?

No? No, but there was a Lance Raw too. I
wanted rots was a teammate. No, No, the bullpench No,
I get that, But I want to say that there
was there was there was a Lance row was where
there was Doug Rau and Lance raw. If I'm not
miss I could be mistaken.

That could be my I have never heard of Lance
my seven year old, you know, remembering back.

Now we go more race route. We've skipped over Lance Lynn.
If you want great Dodger pit the postseason, yeah, Yet.

Don't take athletes name Lance. Let's take Lance Johnson. One dog, Trey.
Lance hasn't been doing much. Maybe he's by the way,
Lance Stevenson hasn't been blowing anybody's year.

This has been This is going to come up in
the off season with the labor deal done after this
postseason for Major League Baseball. I understand that baseball for
many years has needed something resembling a salary cap but
also with a salary floor. But it's not like you know,
you talked about it on your show as soon as
it happened. The stupidity of people saying, oh, Schooble's acquired

by the Dodgers, the season's over.

Speaker 4 (20:39):
Are you not watching baseball? Every year?

Speaker 5 (20:41):
How often is the World Series? The two best teams
plays the hottest. This is not the NBA, This is
not I mean, can you imagine the Patriots all those
years if Tom Brady actually didn't play all the playoff
games Baseball, you have a rotation. You know, guys are
stuck with third and fourth starters in keep playoff games
all the time. The Dodgers, as you have brought up,

had an all bullpen game facing elimination a couple of
years back at San Diego and still won that to stay.

Speaker 4 (21:11):
Alive and make a run. We burned Brady in the
wildcard game. Now we gotta go to Bailey ZAPPI. Why
so we can't bring Brady back for bring him back
that early? We gotta go another game.

president David Berson on Tuesday. Now remember that name for

Now, granted it's a month until CBS is going to

get rid of him. They've decided. They could have gone
either way. No one would have blinked if they said,
you know what, Tony's gonna take some time away and

guy replacing him, here's the guy replacing JJ Watt. Still
no timetable for Tony Romo. There's no way he comes

back after this. There is no way he has done
his last game for CBS. Now, why would they do this?
Are they done with Tony Romo being an analyst because
they're upset that he's not as good as he was
years ago and they gave him a lot of money. Look,

is it enough to outweigh you know, what goes on

Romo's reputation has not been great the last few years.

but they are dotting their t's and cross there because
that they don't want dot in their oh's and crossing

of sight right now, and then we're going to figure
out away for him to move on. And he's done
his last game with CBS.

Lebron coming to the Lakers was a big deal for him.

They won a championship, but it was such a big

next best superstar. We're gonna go out and get three
guys compete for a championship. This was Lebron showing up

back at the top to the point where they were

Dancic and try to restart the Laker dynasty. And now
you have a top three, top five player overall in
the league again, who's twenty six years old, who was
very marketable. This does not happen without Lebron James being
a Laker for eight years. So on the Jerry Jones, Hey,
if I don't win championships, I can at least look
at money and show you how I've won. This is
one of Lebron's biggest victories that doesn't come in the

NBA finals. What he has done, he is single handedly
brought that Laker brand up to being worth twelve point
five billion dollars.

years and in theory you look at some of the drafts,
those guys were interesting and then they all went elsewhere
and had to get good elsewhere. Right when you look
at Ingram, you look at LaMelo or or Lonzo Ball

before he got hurt whatever. But all of those things,
those guys, it didn't work out, and then it was
the waiting game. You you could trade on nostalgia and
trade on history, and certainly they have, there's no question
about it. And that was there was some novelty and
excitement about it. And it was the double ed sword,

they even played. The door is open, and now tonight

Yeah again. That's why I like to say we're ahead
of the curve. We told you a few days ago
that if Fernando Mendoza plays great in the preseason, it's
irrelevant what Kirk Cousins does. If Mendoza plays great, he
will start Week one because it will be an avalanche
of support if the number one overall pick is ready.

Why are we sitting in behind a guy that is
now on his third team in the last three years
and signed to be the backup after four weeks?

Soft part of our schedule is the very beginning of

So far, Fernando Mendoza has been terrific?

No, He's tried to force a couple of plays, but
overall his play action game is really good. Already you
can see it. He has made some big throws through
for the touchdown. Mendoza is what everybody hoped he would
be when he was drafted. I admit, am I nervous
about the guy. Yeah, because all the safeguards the Raiders
have put in place about him. It's like, guys, he's

a number one overall pick. He sings three swims, right,
that's what you have to do. But so far, it's
not even a fact of where the game is not
too fast for Mendoza. This is now him trying to
make big plays, keeping plays alive, like he got absolutely
wrecked on their last possession, trying to make something happen
when okay, you throw the ball away. But I'd rather

(53:48):
have a quarterback doing that than checking down throwing it short.
Mendoza looks every bit how the Raiders and the NFL
hoped and expected him to look. So so far, Kirk
Cousins has done nothing that. There is nothing tonight that
tells me, oh, Cousins is going to stay the quarterback.
If Mendoza continues, he builds on tonight. Now he's gotta
have He's gotta have three really good games, right. He

(54:10):
can't have a game where ooh two out of nine
an interception. His quarterback rating is around forty. He has
a game like that and then suddenly the Raiders are
gonna say, Okay, maybe he's not quite ready, but if
he has three big games in the preseason, he starts
Week one, and you know, it's like, have that big
check mark ready for game one, because what he has
done so far tonight, how he has looked, he has
looked absolutely ready to play check off week one. For

Fernando Mendoza, Test one has been passed. Now he's got
two more.

Okay, I'll uh, I'll give you that. I've seen a
couple of throws that I really like, couple across the middle.
Certainly that touchdown throw was a dart uh to a

want to let you know, it's not some sort of thing.

I also take it with a grain of salt. It's
the Arizona Cardinals whose first unit's not supposed to be good,

it's not playing with the with the with the top level, right.

Also coming in with the backups, and you can only
do what you see so far. And that's the thing
is that you don't want to postpone the future. He's
gotta ace all three of these tests, right, I mean,
there's no doubt he can't have a If he has

like I told you, if he has a great preseason,
I know how the world works. It's like it's like
other people and teams don't understand how the world. Oh,

I know, he doesn't need to start at all. Yeah,
it's great to say that. In April and May and June,
you're sitting by a pool and you're doing a radio
interview or a podcast and you're saying, yeah, yeah, we
don't need to see this guy for you know, eight weeks.
Maybe again, Hey, if Kirk plays well, we don't see
Mendoza in a perfect world, Fernando doesn't play, Yeah, and
then the footballs fly for real, and all of a
sudden you get to September first, it's oh man, we

got big decisions to make. We saw X Y and
I'm telling you, Matt, but he's if he aces all
these tests, it's fine and tonight. So far, what I've seen,
he has aced this time.

It's the theory versus reality when it comes to this stuff,
because I'm I'm old schooled to where if I can
buy a guy time to make sure he's acclimated, to
make sure I've solidified all of these support mechanisms that
are that should be in place for a young quarterback.
I e. He doesn't have five guys standing in front
of because look, Linda Brod's great, he was a great addition.

(57:30):
There ain't five of them. Okay, the rest of that
line h will need to really hall ass and make
sure that they can keep him up upright throughout the season.
But you've got to test it and actually get game experience.
I understand it, like you're both sides of the coin.
I'd love to see him and make sure. Since you

(57:50):
did bring in Kirk Cousins, you're not bold to him
for any real money. So whenever that part of the
equation comes into this, like no, Atlanta's paying the look
of the freight. Now they structured his deal oddly, but
again there's not a lot of substantive guaranteed money, good
mentor bring him along all of those things, best habits,

(58:10):
best practices kind of things. And for Fernando Mendoz, I mean,
the only headline he's made this offseason is how he
actively avoids the strip. That's it like that. That's as
much as you're getting out of him in terms of
enticing details. Eventually, maybe we'll get his watch list for
whatever cartoons, anime or rom coms he's into. But where

(58:31):
it stands now, you've got skill position players. I'm just
still concerned about the offensive line. Now you open with
Miami and then the next week you got the Chargers.
Week four, you've got the Chiefs. So you've got Spagnola
and we look here what the Chargers defense should be
able to do. You're gonna get tested real early. It
doesn't mean I keep him away, but it's the idea

(58:53):
of I understand if you're looking at it from a
long haul perspective. With Captain Kirk in the fold. But
you've all also got a very thirsty fan base. His
face is all up and down Las Vegas Boulevard as
the next and come buy your tickets see Fernando.

Speaker 1 (59:12):
But I'll I'll tell you this. There was something in
the air that night DJ. The thing about Mendoza, right,
everything you have wanted to see from him tonight you
have seen. You've seen him be aggressive, you've seen him
get outside the pocket, you have seen him great ball fake,

get your concerned about the offensive line. If he was

a strict pocket guy, then I would say.

Okay, yeah, maybe not. But he has shown escapability.

the offensive line thing isn't that big a deal, Like, Okay,
as long as the offensive line isn't just a sieve
and they're just letting hey, go ahead, the quarterbacks right there,

just go ahead and get him and that's fine, just
you know, say good things about me. Uh yeah, it's
okay for him to start. And again it's a it's
a three week audition, and you got an as. It's
like we when you want to audition for a conservatory,
like you go to college and you're like, oh, you know,
I'm gonna play there. You play the h you play
the violin, you make it okay, you're gonna go our

next people, and then the third one kind of like
flash dance a little.
