Speaker 2 (00:22):
Please give this you're listening to Fox Sports Radio. That's
a pretty good version of Empire State of Mind. That's
a pretty good version.
Speaker 3 (00:33):
But I just started talking because I was thinking someone
was thinking there was technical difficulties and weather was delaying.
Speaker 1 (00:38):
Oh no, I think everybody knew. But I think there's
a better version of Empire State of Mind. I think
there's a better version of it. There is that was
put out right after the Knicks won the title on Saturday.
Do we have that version of it? God Cree Jungle
dreams of Mad that's nothing you can't do. Now you're
(00:58):
in new Yahoo who yoah. Oh yeah, that's way better
than Alicia Keys. That is way better than Lasher couldn't
carry a tune in a bucket. I was I was surprised.
I was surprised. Honestly, after I put it up on social,
I'm like, well, I really don't sound as good as
(01:20):
I thought I was going to. But there was, but
it was but in your head, I was really on points.
I gotta say. I had a couple of questions in
the middle.
Speaker 3 (01:29):
You're gonna say a couple of tequila? I thought it
was getting no, no, no, no tequila.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
I can't do. Uh. There was a couple of questions
that I had that said, oh, you know, maybe a
little bit. But then I wanted him to the old
Enrique Iglesia. So I couldn't hear myself in the you know,
So that's what it was. I couldn't be back in
the Actually I couldn't hear myself. Yeah. But but anyway,
I still feel like, you know that the message got out,
like the accomplished message got out, yeah, just about.
Speaker 3 (01:55):
I mean I saw it within mere moments of you
posting it, and just what my god, And I'm like,
and then I'm trying to look at all, right, is
he sober? I don't really hear any member of your
family laughing, So I mean either they were teary eyed
and excited with you, or they banished you from the
house because you were singing setting the dog.
Speaker 1 (02:18):
I will tell you all right, So I'll tell you
how it went, how my Saturday with the Nix winning
the title. And again I'm feel little weird right now
because this is, you know, now, I'm celebrating a title
every day. I had the Knicks on Saturday, Stanley Cup yesterday.
I have not won a title yet today, and I
feel like, where's my title today? Like I'm missing it.
You woke up, baby, missing it. You got woke up
(02:40):
to my title. So Saturday forget And this is the
crazy part of it, Saturday for game five. I told
you this, but before you're off. On Friday, one of
my best friends who I coached soccer with for a
long time, for a long time, he had planned his
wife's surprise fiftieth birthday. And we're really good friends with
both them. We play cards with them, we hang out
with them all the time. And so her fiftieth birthday
(03:02):
party surprise was at six o'clock Saturday at restaurant in
Los Angeles, which plays into it, and the whole week's
going and I'm like, dude, that's that's game five. That's
that's Game five. I'm going you're gonna We're gonna change this, right,
because you know that.
Speaker 3 (03:16):
Schedule had been said a while before either team ever
made it there, you know.
Speaker 1 (03:20):
But here here's the best part. He's the biggest Spurs
fan in the world. After after Game two, I drove
by his house the next day going to pick up
Zoe from school, and I rolled the window down and
I yelled out Wenby for the win, no good, and
I played Empire State of Mind and I got a
text from him like five minutes later said, you are
a monster. Right, So he's the biggest Spurs fan in
(03:43):
the world.
Speaker 3 (03:44):
I would have had you pulled over in the world
and it was a stolen car going down, and.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
I'm like, we're still having this game. We're like, we're
still we're still doing this party right where this party
is still happening, right, Okay, next worst part, No TV's
in the restaurant because it's a you know, bigger she
she kind of great placed. And the thing is, I've
wanted to go there for so long. My wife has
wanted to go through so long. It's one of Antonio
La Fasso's plays from Food Network and Scope Up, which
(04:09):
is in Marina del Ray, Like We've wanted to go
there for so long, and this is where the party is.
I'm going and there's no teams. Are you wheeling in
a TV? Is there gonna be a TV? Because I'll
try go? No, no, no, there's no try, only do. So
the party goes on, and I'm the guy watching on
my phone right the entire time the fourth quarter, I
am I. I am the commercial of watching live sports
(04:33):
on your phone, because with about five minutes left to go,
I can no longer be in the restaurant. I can
know because now because the Knicks have come back and
it's it's a it's a three point game, and and
and Brunson hits the shot to tie the game, and
I go, I'm going outside. I'm going outside. I go
outside and I'm watching and I don't know this, but
everybody is videotaping me because I'm like slowly losing afterworth
(04:56):
every play, with every play. So I'm out there and
I'm watching on my phone. I'm the only one. And
then this woman I didn't even know comes up to
me and says, Hi, are you watching the game? I
said yeah. She goes, Hi, my name's Karen. I said, Hi, Karen, shees,
I'm in here with my husband. He's really mad at me.
But I'm a huge Knicks fan and and and this
is a big dinner and but I but I said,
I had to go out. And what You're watching the game, right? Yeah?
Can I watch it with you? I said, sure, no problem.
(05:18):
So I'm watching this is how this is how tunnel
vision and craze I was. There were three other people
at some point that came up and was watching the
game with me. I didn't even know who they were.
They could be going through my pockets, grabbing my wallet
everything else. So I'm standing there with the fun like,
oh my, this is this is insane. This is insane.
And so I'm watching it. I look up and I
see people in the restaurant I have their phones out
(05:39):
at me. I'm going, oh my, what is what is
going on here? So I'm that commercial of standing on
the street watching and Wenby misses the three and the
bedlom ensues and I scream and I throw the phone
up in the air and I grab it and I'm
running down the street and and and and everybody and
(05:59):
they're all going nuts and I'm running through and I
video date myself singing Empire state of mind, and I
come back into the restaurant after a few minutes, I go, okay,
I think this is gonna be cool. I think this
is gonna be cool. I'm gonna walk back in, sit
back down.
Speaker 4 (06:12):
Like.
Speaker 1 (06:12):
This is a big restaurant, you know, big Scopa, right,
so it's a big crowd, big crowd, restaurant everything. I'm like, okay, great.
So I walk back in. I opened the door and
everybody is clapping for me because they're so happy the
next one. And I stand there and I bow and
I wait, everybody, I gave him great entertainment being out there.
I mean every missed free throw, I'm like, come on,
(06:34):
og oh, Josh hard, come on, you can't keep missing
free throws again. But then Dylan Harper missed both of them,
and I was like, wh that's it. I'm like, oh,
g just make one, just make one, just make one.
And he made it, and then, of course it couldn't
be that easy. Landry Shammit decides, Hey, I'm gonna try
to block Wemby's three. What are you doing? What are
you doing? Man? What are you doing? So that last second,
(06:56):
I'm so nervous, but of course it doesn't go and
it's absolute better. And I really I blacked out, I
think at some point, like at the end of the game,
because my wife says to me, okay, so how did
the end of the game go, And I'm like the Knicks,
And usually I can tell this play than this play this,
I go heart misster free throw made one Spurs, Spurs
(07:19):
didn't get it, annao, we missed a free throw. Maybe
when I'm going, oh my god, I barely remember the
last thirty forty seconds of this game. I remember, I
remember the miss free throws, and I'm going, okay, and
then they miss was but wait, I said, yes, no,
but they had the lead and so now I got
out to ninety four ninety and then Wenby missed a
three at the buzzer and that was it and they won,
(07:41):
and it was that was it. But like the whole time,
when she first is asking me to recap the game,
I'm like, so this I then yeah, then with a
miss here and I didn't tell her she was but
what are the Spurs? Oh oh yeah, Dylan Harper missed
two free throws. Like I forgot to tell her that part.
She goes, do the Spurs have the ball at all
at this point, like yes, yes, yes, no, Dylan Harper
missed two free throws like I. I I can't get
(08:02):
over how I felt in that moment, how crazed and
insane I was, and I afterwards, when I sat back
down in dinner, I said, this is this is how
it is for people that their teams win, like, I
don't know how people do it? Like, well, I don't.
Speaker 3 (08:16):
First off, for the uninitiated, the reason this sequential thing
is such a big deal, uh that the synapses weren't firing,
is that normally Jason can run through an entire football
game or basketball game. Uh as if he's got it
stored play for play on a note card, so that
you got that for one.
Speaker 1 (08:34):
Number two? Was it this woman's actual birthday that day? Uh?
You know it was? No, she was there for a
big birthday. Gets talking about Karen Karen.
Speaker 3 (08:46):
Karen Karen might have been the one that left you discombobulated.
Speaker 1 (08:51):
So about paying him, I got questions. I walked, I
wasn't over your friends. Yes, well, first of all, let
me finish with Keen. So she came back in and
I walked over and said, hey, I'm sorry because I
threw the phone in the air and ran. After we won,
I said, hey, so sorry, high five. I say to
her husband, I go sorry with the Knicks one and
he goes, yeah, no, it seemed exciting. I'm like, oh,
this relationship, Okay, come on, man, you can't it seemed exciting.
(09:12):
It seemed exciting. Okay, No, it was it was her
fiftieth birthday, like it was the day, like this has
been planned for months and it was a surprise and
she didn't know about it. So the whole week we
have got to keep it secret. About twenty twenty to
twenty five, twenty five people souse. I'm sitting there trying
to figure out. I'm like, they're gonna miss me if
I'm not there? Are they really gonna miss me? If
(09:33):
I'm watching it, I'm really gonna miss me. But in
the end, when I when I start thinking about this
going through the whole week, I'm like, what are we
gonna do? What are we gonna do? I'm like, I
could have been sitting in my living room and watching it,
and that would have been fun. But now this story,
I'll remember this party and standing outside and like a
true New Yorker with my phone, and five people around me.
I don't even know who the other people were. I
(09:54):
didn't even think they were in the restaurant. I think
just walking up, down, up and down the street. And
said one of these guys, I'm gonna watch the end
of the game. Okay, that's great, so I'm watching. I said,
wow at the end. I couldn't believe it. And went
up to her and I said, and I said, Michelle's
her name, the my friend's wife, and oh and my
friend too. And I said, hey, I said, I know
I feel bad about this. She's what, what do you
(10:14):
feel bad about? I go, you know, this is your
fiftieth birthday and she and she says to me and
and and and you you know you you stole the
limelight like she was kidd. I go, no, but I
actually had a better time than you did. But it's
absolutely true.
Speaker 3 (10:30):
Number one, I mean the fact that there's no TVs
God bless. I mean two, I mean you're a better
friend than I would be, because this would be the
optimal excuse, especially if there's gonna be twenty other people there.
Speaker 1 (10:42):
Hey missing me? No, no, no, I don't for you.
Speaker 3 (10:44):
I mean you were not a great friend during it
because you're tracking the game on your phone anyway.
Speaker 1 (10:48):
But I was not No no, no. But you weren't
there in Star you were there, you were not conversing
with anybody. I was the red Stakes, but you weren't
actually looking first to people, what's going on? Okay, brunts,
and it's not about It's not about Michelle. I'm only
going to ask answer the questions people ask me. And
those are the questions people were asking.
Speaker 3 (11:09):
That's all I'm saying is you're not actually present in
this birthday dinner at this have been.
Speaker 1 (11:14):
Five thousand present. You might as well have been in
me and mar no no no, I I I I
was able to know it as Burma. I was. I.
I answered all the questions that were asking me. I
did not offer my opinions. I did not try to
monopolize the conversation. I allowed everybody who was having fun
and drinking, telling stories. You keep doing that, that's absolute.
Speaker 3 (11:35):
At the birthday, cake and sing happy birthday to you
while you were dancing around like a jackass.
Speaker 1 (11:40):
No no, you found buddies in the parking. No, I
will say no, we did. We sang happy birthday and
died cake at halftime so that was good. That was good.
I was able to okay, halftime, let's do cake, and
then you were still there for the fourth quarter. Hell
kind of party is a big party? Is a big party?
This is fifty yeah, but this is where you cut
your losses. You just say, hey, we got booze at
(12:00):
let's go. I mean, if you've already had.
Speaker 3 (12:03):
Cake and the whole she bang, now you're just lingering
and you're not allowing that serving staff to make any
extra money by turning that table and job by you guys.
Speaker 1 (12:13):
I didn't real that the next day, all right, when
I woke up yesterday and then I had to I
had to. I had to gear up because because I
had the Stanley Cup final, I had to gear out.
And I'm saying, man, like, my left hand hurt and
I didn't know why. I'm like, I must have banged
it last night or something like that. And when I
picked up my phone, I realized, oh, oh, it was
because I was holding my phone the horizontal to hold
(12:33):
it like, so I'm like, oh, that really hurts. I
must have held that phone. I must have like been
gripping my phone.
Speaker 3 (12:39):
Could you see it? Like all of a sudden it's
like straight out of a movie where you've crushed it.
If things had gone south and Wenbying been fouled on
that three point, you can.
Speaker 1 (12:47):
Have my phone. It can pry it out of my
cold dead hand. I can't get it out of here.
It's it's just it's like it's one of those things
where if you slid it out the side and then
you can slide it right back in, like, oh no,
my hand hurts. Here's the obvious. Next question for the
all of the Jason Smith with Mike Harmon show loving audience,
they asked the obvious, did Karen join the party? No,
(13:07):
that guy was clearly done with her.
Speaker 5 (13:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (13:10):
I hope they're still together. I mean, but it was
a big birthday and she I mean, but she was out.
She was outside with me for a while, like probably.
Speaker 3 (13:16):
Saying I'm gonna go out and lay and say, uh,
you know. The husband caught up on whatever show he was.
Speaker 1 (13:21):
And the thing is, it was only a four person birthday,
like it was her, her husband and two other people.
And she's out, she's watching the game. I said, where
are you from? And she said, and she said, I'm
from Brooklyn. I said, oh, Staten Island said okay, great,
where'd you go to school? And oh yeah, yeah because
that's New York because it's what we're like, Yeah, where'd
you go? Oh yeah, yeah, yeah yeah. And I'm like, Okay,
(13:41):
I hope there's I hope they're still together. I hope
they're still together.
Speaker 3 (13:45):
Well, I mean he'd already established I'm guessing long before
then he didn't care about sports, like.
Speaker 1 (13:51):
Of the moment it seemed exciting. I'm like, oh that
because I'm just sitting there going right, Like when this
goes for her too, Like whoever's birthday is?
Speaker 3 (14:00):
You know, the person in your life, if they're truly
a Knicks fan, this goes to the same Chicago, any
steady Town, USA, your team, This is it. Especially you've
been waiting fifty three years, right, go back to the
Rangers in ninety four. They waited what fifty two years? Here,
it's like, you.
Speaker 1 (14:17):
Know, I'm looking reservations for parties of four or six.
Don't seem to be too hard to get it in
this restaurant. Yeah, So for those folks for Karen, yeah yeah,
probably could have saved some angst in the relationship by saying,
you know what, can we pick a later time, you know,
after the final buzzer or yeah, it's because we knew
the schedule for the finals a couple of weeks before
(14:38):
they anybody was tipping off, plenty of time to scramble,
and I know there were a lot of graduations or
whatever else. Just saying your friend, I mean, congratulations on
fifty to fifties a hell of a run. By planning
it on the actual day and the NBA Finals, Yeah,
it's kind of like your friend planning a wedding during
college football. So well, I mean, I got come on,
(15:00):
but he planned it like before the play playoffs even started.
He goes, well, I thought we'd win a little bit
in the pleasant did we make it all the way here?
I go, but it happened. Okay, I'm sorry to play,
but it all happened.
Speaker 3 (15:10):
He gotta have the variables. He put a very low
coefficient on that varable. He did, and he got burned.
Speaker 2 (15:14):
He did.
Speaker 1 (15:15):
He did. I just up patent pending. Patent pending, because
I know there's a Hollywood writer going, oh, that's a
great meet cute for the beginning of my next movie
where guy's watching a game and she comes out to
watch with him. And everything else. No pad pending, pand pending.
That's me and Karen story. Karen, it's all the money
we had, Kart. How much you just spend on those
Knicks tickets. It's all the money we had, Karen. If

(17:53):
big NFL news today. If you didn't get your quarterback
in the draft in April or in the off season,
at some point, well okay, you may be able to
get a first round talent in the supplemental Draft. Big
news coming in just a few minutes ago. Brendan Soorsby
is going to be leaving Texas Tech to enter the
supplemental Draft. Remember, he was ruled to be eligible to
(18:15):
play this year after a huge gambling scandal in which
he bet forty times on Indiana when he was there,
and he bet out of market, out of country soccer
and cricket and all kinds of stuff, a gambling scandal
that was incredibly embarrassing for the NCAA. He's allowed back in.
There were all sorts of questions and disruptions last week.
(18:36):
Teams didn't want to play Texas Tech. They want to
take them off their schedule. It was a horrible decision
for college football. And now maybe they have found an agreement.
Soorsby plans to enter the NFL Supplemental Draft, in which
a team can take him whatever round you submit your pick. Obviously,
is you lose that pick next spring. So what round
will he go in? Will somebody take Brendan Soorsby? Who's
(18:57):
the guy joining us now? Nobody better? And longtime NFL
insider Jason Lock and for he's with us? Now?
Speaker 5 (19:03):
Jay?
Speaker 1 (19:03):
What's happening?
Speaker 4 (19:04):
Man?
Speaker 1 (19:04):
How are you?
Speaker 4 (19:05):
What's going on? Gentlemen?
Speaker 1 (19:06):
What's up? I mean, you know, kind of nice that
we have another quarterback to talk about here, that that's
you know, not Fernando Mendoza.
Speaker 4 (19:13):
Get a lot of work on him. And then he
was trying to kick it and screaming to get back
to school. And I was like, oh, man, I hope
this isn't all or not and now here we go.
But look, he still has to like the league, you know,
doesn't it doesn't have to let him into Suppamelow draft.
So I mean, I'm just spinning it forward and wondering
if we live in a world where the future litigation
him trying to sue the NFL they get into the
(19:35):
league if they don't grant him permission, you know, and
and clear him and make him a part of this process.
So I don't know that it's a full fall conclusion
that you know, especially given the circumstances of his situation
of college and the gambling and everything else. But he's,
(19:59):
you know, one of the five six seven kids who
they've got to real eye on for twenty twenty seven,
and obviously doesn't look he's gonna be playing college football
no matter what, whether he's in this upper middle or not.
And so you're looking at his current body of work,
and the gambling stuff will certainly scare some people more
than others, but it's not going to scare everybody off.
I've had too many general managers and scaling directors and
(20:20):
even guys who are like I would never take them
if I needed him, but somebody will. And he's athletic enough,
and it's a good arm and like people read me
their scouting reports on him, and you know, he's someone
who was coming into this year with a second round
grade for a lot of people, second third, with a
(20:41):
chance that you know, he could very well play himself
into a first round. No, he's not gonna do anything
else on the field to play himself one way or
the other. But I think he's gonna take it in
the second round.
Speaker 3 (20:55):
So we look at eligible, right, But that's the thing, right,
even if he's eligible to get selected I Meanterrell Prior
got suspended five games for tattoos way back in the day,
so I got to imagine there'd be some some kind
of punishment coming from the league.
Speaker 4 (21:10):
Yeah, I mean they could negotiate I guess contingencies that, hey,
we're going to put you in, allow you to be
a part of this process. But you still even you know,
whatever you've done rehab wise, whatever, you still have to
fulfill X, Y and Z. Yeah, I mean I don't
know about coming in with a suspension or not. I mean, look,
(21:31):
they can make up the rules as they go along,
so the lawyers can sort all that out. But there's
enough talent there that you know you're going to get
him at a cheap enough price for what second round picks.
It's assuming he goes there costs these days that the
risk will be worth the reward to see if you
(21:52):
can obviously avoid getting himself into further trouble with with
his gambling. But yeah, I think he's gonna fare pretty
well all right.
Speaker 1 (22:06):
So if he gets the second round grade, if that
winds up where he winds up going, who's a couple
of teams you can see either for where they sit
right now, like like a team like the Rams saying, hey,
we have quarterbacks and we can bring the guy along slowly.
Not that the Rams would take him, but what's a
team that has the right makeup to bring him in
because he is going to be a story. He is
(22:27):
kind of a rehabilitation type project for him, or that
you know, hey, we can bring him in, or we're
desperate enough that we can try to get our quarterback
of the future. Now the supplemental draft, who's one or
two teams you think would be in on Soresby Well, a.
Speaker 4 (22:42):
Team I've heard the most about it the Eagles in
terms of the work they've done and what they're kind
of some of their internal recon is telling them, and
some things I guess leave the building. I think you
always have to wonder about anything drafts related if there's
a numbing to bes to it. But I don't don't
think there is in this.
Speaker 1 (23:01):
And since.
Speaker 4 (23:03):
They haven't been shy about using second third round grades
on quarterbacks and the picks on quarterbacks in the past,
and they took Kevin Cobble and they didn't need a quarterback,
you just talked about the whole rehab thing. I mean,
I'm old enough to remember a guy leaving Levenworth and
going there like they've they've taken on significant challenges and
the Mike Vick thing was far more profound than this.
(23:25):
So it checks a lot of boxes. And I you know,
could hurt handle it, couldn't handle it well whatever, Like
they want to win and they're not sure it hurts
is the guy to win long term with anymore, and
he's in approved situation. So boy, that's one team that
I just kept hearing about as I started working on
(23:45):
this kid a couple of weeks.
Speaker 3 (23:46):
Ago, Jason, as we we look at the rest of
the NFL landscape waiting for us some other dominoes to fall,
Randon I back on social media, the on again, off
again hey forty nine ers waving and back and forth.
Speaker 1 (24:00):
Does he ended up in twenty twenty six? Cool?
Speaker 4 (24:04):
I mean a lot of people think Washington because of
the whole Adam Peters connection. A lot of people are scared.
I mean, it's just a he well played seven games
the last two years, he's had more than seven strange
interactions or you know, seven strange media posts or whatever
was going on into his rehab and recovery there. I mean,
(24:26):
I think it'll probably be somebody who knows him if
it happens early process. And if I'm him, God, I
really better get in the building and start getting around
NFL trainers again, and you know, trying to reacclimate myself
to this world. I mean, Washington is the one that
has had the most the most buzz, and they like
(24:46):
bringing in a fair amount of guys that they were
familiar with as a front office from their time in
San Francisco. And they're still looking for more weapons around
the quarterback. So i'd maybe so dark in that direction.
Speaker 1 (25:00):
All right, Jay, Let's say let's end with a fun
one here. So Calvin Johnson does his golf outing normal
golf out him that he does every few every year
in Detroit, and he said, I'm surprised today you gave
a great quot quote. Did. He's surprised that no one
has broken his record for receiving in a season nineteen
hundred and sixty four yards, which he set back in
twenty twelve. He said, especially with now seventeen games and
(25:21):
no one's broken it yet, But he doesn't think it's
going to stand very long. And he thinks Pooka Nakua
is the guy do you agree it's not going to
stand long, Dourie NIKOUA, Is it going to be somebody else?
Speaker 4 (25:32):
I mean, I think that's a I mean, we've seen
what wide receivers can do, and I don't think Cooper
Cupp and his prime athletically was quite what this kid was.
And it checks every box. You're playing in pristine conditions
(25:53):
most of the time. He's got a quarterback who's old
school gunslinger. You've got a coach who's willing to let
it all hang out, going to be super conservative, you know,
early down, play action shots and explosives, they live on
all that. They still sell play action under center on
(26:13):
like a lot of teams, so you get those double
moves freezing people. I yeah, I mean, I know he's
had some knicks, but he's been pretty durable and he's
really entering his time now. That sounds about right to me.
Speaker 1 (26:28):
He's on Twitter at Jason lock and for that is
at Jason Lock and for an NFL insider who is
now thank you for stopping by. I know you're going
to take a well earned hydration break, just like as
we've been seeing in the World.
Speaker 4 (26:38):
Cup to get me started.
Speaker 5 (26:43):
Enjoy the games.
Speaker 1 (26:44):
Buddy, We'll talk to you next week. I see the same,
Thank you, Jason.
Speaker 5 (26:48):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (27:00):
Fox Sports Radio. Jason Smith, Mike Harmon. I ran in
New Zealand in the eighty first minute. Hell of a game.
It's been fantastic two to two, Jason. Better than Spain's game. Well,
if you're Spain, if you're cap Veradae, maybe not.
Speaker 3 (27:22):
All I can say is the best was Cape Veraday.
As they're coming into the final seconds, it's not hey,
park the bus, we're gonna getting out of here with
the draw?
Speaker 1 (27:30):
What's threw that?
Speaker 3 (27:30):
We're going We're going ahead. We've had no attack this
entire game, but we're gonna try now.
Speaker 1 (27:35):
I want to say, Cape Verde. Isn't that where Kim
Wexler worked in Better call Saul, Like, what wasn't that?
Wasn't that the big accounts she worked on with the
whole thing trying to mas Verde, Well, that was that
was the That was the name of the account. I
think it was Maceverde. The entire run on mas Verdam, Maceverde,
mace Verde. I really think that's what it was. I
believe you trust gong out Yeah, gentle bank. Yeah that's
(28:02):
a green field. That's a look at you. But you
uh time off for the play of the day. Brought
to you by tire Racks. For over forty years, tire
Rock's been helping customers find the right tires for how,
what and where they drive. Ship Fast and free backed
by free Road, has protection with convenient installation options like
mobile tire installation. Tire rack dot Com is the way
(28:22):
tire buying should be. Well, Alex Tyshirt, I know you
have made a lot of money betting on the World
Cup so far. So whatever play of the day you
want from soccer, go ahead, Yeah, call sir, hit in
the box safe. So there was big Fox on the
(28:43):
call that did you win money on that? Or I
absolutely did you did?
Speaker 7 (28:46):
I bet that Spain would be not at the top
of this bracket after the first round of the games,
and guess what, baby, they all tied.
Speaker 1 (28:54):
That's a big if you If you bet draws, you
you're killing it. Yeah. Well, there was a guy I
read today. I think it was Darren Rivel put it
out there right before the game started to put a
million dollars on Spain to win, and it would have
paid out like eighty five about eighty five grand. You
put it out instead he lost a million dollars. Sucker well.
Speaker 3 (29:15):
I mean look in the in the pregame and leading
up to it. You look at the betting odds. The
expectation was a six to seven goal German like Barrage,
and instead you got some of the best goalkeeping and
the fastest anybody's gone into virality. That wasn't a guy
on a pop pop song.
Speaker 1 (29:36):
So we've had three draws already today and right now again.
I ran a New Zealand tied at two in the
eighty third minute. We'll have tell me I'm wrong, no'
We've all run the Iron Cheek. I think, Alex it's
it's we were playing clips. Harmon and I were watching
the great the Greatest of the Iron Cheek press conferences
(29:57):
before the show, and it's funny that every time he
comes he would call mean gen Gene mean, thank you, Gene.
Speaker 3 (30:04):
Mean it would go up, and then the unedited clips
when he was hanging out with Howard Stern.
Speaker 1 (30:10):
Thank you, Gene mean, thank you, Gene. Mean, let's talk
about hold Coogan, you know, the Hogan. But there is
no championship. There will be awarded tonight. In professional sports.
We had the Stanley Cup on Sunday. We had the
Lario O'Brian Trophy on Saturday, and I got to think
I'm the only person in the world to celebrate at
the level I did, with both my teams being the
Knicks and the Hurricanes. And it's really sobering because I
(30:32):
thought about this after yesterday, right, like I was able
to watch the Stanley Cup final Game six such so
serenely because the Knicks had won, and I'm on such
a high off of that, like well, I.
Speaker 3 (30:43):
Mean the fact that the Knights didn't surmount any type
of offense for a period and a half time and
it's one.
Speaker 1 (30:48):
Nothing for a long time, you know, and it's it's
you know, look and uh it's yes, I knew they
were gonna start going for broke up to nothing. I
felt good, you know. Obviously the third period that had
a couple of shots. Ikel hit the crossbar in the
final few minutes, but for the most part of the
last five minutes, I was nervous. I was a lunatic.
But for most of the game, I like, yeah, no,
it's okay, it's okay. And after it was over and
(31:09):
I'm watching and and Stall lifts the cup and Brenda
Moore lifts the cup and it was so exciting and
Tom Dundan lift the cup and he said, blank you
Portland now. And you know I'm watching this and I said,
and I turned to my wife and I said, you know,
I'm fifty five. I don't know, you Knockwood, how much long?
Longer life?
Speaker 4 (31:30):
I go?
Speaker 1 (31:30):
My sports life is never going to get any better
than it is these last two days right now. And
I mean, in you know, Kufo ted Lasso, Never ever, ever,
ever life get better than it was this weekend. Never will,
(31:53):
never will. I won. I wont the NBA title on Saturday,
and I won the Stanley Cup on Sunday. It's never
gonna get better because I know the Mets and Jets
are never gonna win. So I know that it's okay.
I've seen Syracuse win, okay, but back to back winning
the NBA. You got twenty hours, You're done. It was insane,
the twenty four hours between titles, the amount of idle
(32:15):
how you know how satisfying it was just to idly
scroll for Nick's content yesterday seeing different things, whether it
was for Brunson or Wemby or what they've said. The
last two days has just been like just everywhere I
go on social media, Oh look, this is a fun
nixt video. Here's what I want to watch. Here's I
want to see.
Speaker 3 (32:30):
This A bunch of songs to your playlist, Like, look,
they set this guy's highlights to music. Here's a bunch
of people smashing in the window of a cab set
to another song.
Speaker 1 (32:40):
I've been listening to my chemical romance Black Parade, I know,
watched that like twenty times in the last couple of days.
Speaker 3 (32:48):
Like Rick Bronson getting a lot of run the last
couple of days, So good for him too.
Speaker 1 (32:52):
But it's not I gonna realize now this week because
now it's parade as good as it gets, it's Parade week.
This is gonna be it, like I I no matter
how feels like you should one of those part that's it.
Well night. I'll rather be on the airport with you.
Appreciate talking. If you survive it, I'm gonna cry it.
Do think of the Brick Brunson, Jalen Brentson. I'm gonna
be tearing up. Coming up next, we'll give you a
(33:14):
big hot take on the NBA Finals that you can't
argue with Fox.
Speaker 5 (33:25):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
