as we saw it. There was no change, there was
no alternate reality. It all happened exactly as we talked
about it last night, and I laid back down and
went back to sleep.

No, it's very wise, I was telling you this morning.
I sat down, I had one of those moments, the
appreciation and thinking about how we covered it, how you
were able to keep your composure, which I think most
folks were tuning in waiting for you to absolutely lose
your mind one way or another, depending on whether it
was a first half or second half rejoined. But the

myriad storylines plays big plays, the way we draw up
our our little notes back and forth and highlight things.

I was like, we did a damn good job.

And then I continued to drink that cup of coffee
and moved on to whatever Law and Order episode I
was watching.
Speaker 1 (02:11):
Now. Look, and there's no rest for me, because now
it's like, okay, the mentally draining, I mean, I think
I need a thirty for thirty on me every day
going okay, I get really high off of that, but
I gotta come back the next day because I'm back
here for Game five of the Stanley Cup Final. Now
and the Hurricanes, and I'm like, okay, a ho smeetching
the cough three one going to the third period. I'm like,
I could have both of my teams one win away

from the championship in both sports for a lifetime of
where it's been Like, Jason, you are walking through a
desert that there's no water. I may tease you that
there's water, but there won't be and you're gonna keep walking.
And when just when you think you can't take it anymore, ah,
I'll let's just go a little bit further and a
little bit for that. And now it's like, after years

and years, like in a Journey of Odysseus, I could
be sitting here just like standing going Hey, one hundred
yards away, is that a big swimming pool? Is that
a big estate? Is that a lot of people partying?
Like it's a bud light commercial? Hey, I know, wow,
I'm this close to it. I could be this close,
my carbon.

After all of these years of suffering in your private
life and certainly wearing it out air, it's the convergence
of the last two months is like you've run a marathon.
I wish we'd had a heart monitor on you. And
I don't know if it's the equivalent of walking, biking, running,
swimming a couple of one hundred miles, but the ebb

and flow, I mean it would age a lesser man. Here,
you have embraced hope even in the darkest time. Although
I mean, look in this game that's been chippy. I
mean we had we went a long time without an
actual goal, which was an achievement for this series. But
then you get a wide open Hey, I can kick

the puck to my stick and have plenty of time
to still go tie shelf, and nobody's recovered, so like
everything is coming up Smith.

Right now, I feel like in the movie the like
the bad guy or or not the bad guy, but
more the tragic hero that that starts out a good
guy but turns bad but is not really bad. Is
just like kind of misled, where like, hey, I'm gonna
trade my my long life whatever it is, for incredible
power for a short amount of time that they know

is gonna kill that person. And that's kind of what
I'm not like, Okay, I'm I'm trading everything now for
these for these two series. Right now with the hurricanes
of the Knicks, knowing full well, but in the end
I could be it for me man, that's it.

Yeah, but too like you have a the fitish off
two in the early summertime. Yeah, I mean the Jets
are gonna go four.

I don't even care. You're gonna be coming any care.

thought he was gonna get rid of Newman whistling and

got the Knicks. I got the Hurricanes. Yea again. Going
to the third period, Hurricanes up three to one in
a pivotal game five. They score in the power play.

I was first goal in seven games. Uh. And now
the Hurricanes are twenty minutes away from going back to

Vegas with a chance to win the Stanley Cup. Brandon
Bussy getting the start in net for Freddy Anderson, and
he has been terrific so far. And what did I
just really quick before we get onto play of the day,
which is an incredible play of the day. I've told
you in the beginning, Freddy Anderson has been great, right,
but we're gonna need Brandon Bussy at some point because Freddy,
his entire career has been can he put it all together?

And the Hurricanes traded from a few years ago, and
with whether it was injury or ineffective play, he had
stretches where he's fantastic, but they've needed something else. And
I told you they're gonna need Bussy, and look at
them the last game and now this game, they've needed
him well.

As we talk about in all of these playoffs, at
some point you realize it's not working quite so well,
and you know, you call a time out, you take
a day off, and you reconfigure things. Maybe you adjust
your lineup, maybe you let your big guys sit for

to walk by Knicks fans who can throw stuff at them, like,
there's no way to take them take that bus under,
there's no way to pull to pull around so they
don't have to exit the bus and face the fans,
and there's no other way to get them in. I
feel like there was a New York bus driver going, yeah,
watch this, I'm gonna turn it out. So the fans
got to see them, and they got to see the
fans as they're walking in. Like there was no other

way for the Spurs to get in other than to
walk around the bus, and so fans could sit there
and yell at them and throw stuff at them. There's
huge joke about that.

I think that's a one hundred percent the case that
we've shut down whatever the cause they get deliveries, right,
Trucks have to be able to go down there to
deliver and put stuff into the kitchen and linen services
and whatever else. You've watched New York City at four
o'clock in the morning at work. It's a marvelous, marvelous thing.

But yeah, I fully believe that was intentional and and

Man. It's like stealing a mailbox. I mean throw the statue,
limitations like keep telling you it's a federal try. Second
best video was the video of all the Knicks fans
who are all watching the game on the plane and
except the one person that's watching Avatar. That was pretty good.
I like, the entire the entire plane erupts and cheers

after Andrew Noby's tip in, and like everybody is watching
one and he's not. I don't even think the person's
watching like the good Avatar. It's like the most recent Avatar.
It's like, really, I mean, everybody is watching the game
and it's one. But I'm gonna watch Avatar here on
the plane. I'm not gonna not gonna watch a basketball game,
not gonna watch what could be an incredible come back here,
the greatest comeback in finals history. I'm gonna watch Avatar

because I want to see exactly what James Cameron can
do the seventeenth time around with Avatar that I didn't
see the first sixteen times. Unobtainium.

All I need to say, I keep waiting to have
a joystick a fix to my seat when I go
to see in one of those movies. But remember, not
everybody cares about the NBA I know, I know that's
hard to believe. It's a cultural moment.

I mean, it's I mean, I don't think people understand
the sheer impact of that game, the greatest comeback in
finals history, a final shot that's going to live forever.
Like we got used to all these Michael Jordan moments
for so long in the NBA Finals, Like, yeah, we
got them all the time. Tell me one big NBA
outside of Lebron's block, Tell me one big moment that

we've had you off the top of your head in
a finals game that you can remember. Right, you go
back and go, okay, well yeah, well okay, well we
have okay, okay, what okay Lebron's block already going back
almost ten years, right, Okay, it was that kind of
that kind of impact, that kind of moment. But the
play of the day in this because I keep laughing
because it's so great, because this is the best of

Knicks fans, Right, we've seen the worst of There's plenty
of worse, not everybody, you know, And it gets broad
brush that all you know, Knicks fans they're doing this,
they're doing this, they're destroying things, not everybody. These aren't
Nicks with These are people that go, hey, I'm using
the Knicks winning as a way to go out and
just act insane. Oh but it's the same thing, right,
we always saw people get all up in arms about
football players. It's the same five guys that account for

most of the stupidity. And it's a very small percent.
But yes, Knicks fans painted with the broad brush. But
this is my favorite video because it's just a large
hundreds of fans who want to celebrate something, right. They
just the Knicks won, and they'll celebrate anything. So this
is on the Upper east Side and I believe it's

near Columbia where it happened. So Upper east Side last
night after the game, which was just absolutely insane, fans
like in the middle of the streets, no one can
get no one can get around, and a UPS truck
pulls up to the light. Now, don't don't worry, you're
you're thinking the worst thing, don't. Everything was fine. The
UPS guy's gonna tell this story the rest of his life.
And the UPS truck pulls up to a light and

the fans that are just looking for something to cheer
start giving the UPS truck MVP chance. Here it is
here's your play of the day. Here's Knicks fans on
the street last night when a UPS truck pulled up
to a light on the Upper east Side. They're chatting Ups.

Here the laughter. They're going into the into the truck
to shake the guy's hand. It's just a UPS drivery.
He's driving his UPS done UPS Like, here comes a
big truck because we're later on in the evening. Good
for UPS around the clock. Baby, that's a big thing

that Hey, we deliver anytime, we deliver it all ours.
I mean, there's a UPS truck out at you know, midnight.
That's awesome. I mean, that's the just the fact I
want to cheer for some they would have cheered if
a guy crossed the street. Uh, and and he just
had his hand in the air. Hey guy with his
hand in the air? Eh, all right, all right, Like
that's what it would have been. But the UPS truck

pulls up.

Yeah, Ups, Ups like that.

I mean that that is when I saw that today,
I couldn't stop. I'm showing everybody in this video. Here's
my favorite video of the day. They're just chanting for
the UPS guy and the fact that they went into
the truck just to shake his hand, like I want
to just party. I want to just It's like it's
like it's like New Year's Eve, like you hug people
and and and and and you say and you say things.
Hey man, you know, I know we've had a tough year.

Whatever it is people kiss for the first time at
midnight on New Year's Eve. That's kind of what that moment.
I just want to celebrate with somebody. It's like like
Jim Valvana run around looking for somebody to hug. After
North Carolina State one on Lorenzo Charles is dunk in
eighty three.

and Order episode. Maybe he's the villain.

Carolina was just on a power play. Golden Knights kill it,
but it's still a three to one Hurricanes lead. Looking
to go up three games to two, going back to
Vegas for Game six and the Stanley Cup five again,

more relief pitchers you bring into a game, the more
likely you are to find the guy it's not his day.
The more stuff, the more layers you put into bean dip,
the more likely you are to find something that's not
very good. And like I say four or five of
the layers, I go four or five, but the bean

Because that's usually where they try to make up with

All right, But coming off of Game four, right, and
all the heroics of Game four, now looking ahead to
Game five and beyond in the NBA Finals and Nicks
have a chance to clinch. I just keep thinking of
Rick Buker's words with us last night. It's not a
matter of if, but when the Knicks win the championship,
and that I said, do you ever think you'd ever
say that? He goes, Nope, never did, Never thought I'd

ever say that on your show or any other show.
Speaker 3 (19:28):
I didn't really even think he'd commit to it, even
last night. Like especially the way these games have gone
right again, it's been madness.
Speaker 1 (19:36):
But after seeing the video out today, you know it's
another day where here is a questionable video of Victor
Webbin Yama. We go from the pushdown of Jalen bruntson
a couple of days ago that did not get ruled
a flagrant foul it's like, Okay, NBA, what are we doing?
Then you saw the video today of what happened when
(19:57):
Wemby makes a run at Oganu Noobi, who is guarding
the ball in the perimeter, and and the big leap
and the kick that just lent was Yeah, that lands
him right in front of Og. And it looks like
he's kicking right for his knee, but he lands right
in front of Og. And if Og had moved or
if the play had moved a little bit, like that
(20:18):
kick is getting to OG's knee, and who knows what
kind of injury that is. Like, that's a really dangerous play. Now,
I'm I'm not going to sit here and say, oh,
Wemby was going after his acl did Wemby? Was Wemby
maybe looking to make a statement and maybe make a
big thud in front of Wemby in front of Og
or do something to maybe get in his head for
(20:40):
the rest of the game. I'm gonna be out here
setting picks right like I can see that. But that's
still a really dangerous play because you don't know what's
gonna happen. You don't know if the ball's gonna dribble,
what OG's gonna do defensively, I'm gonna see the guy coming,
try to move, and all of a sudden, now he's
got a torn acl and his knee is ruined. Right,
the NBA has a Wemby problem and they can't ignore it.
(21:02):
And the problem is Wemby plays dirty, right, and for
a guy that they want to be the face of
the league, We've now seen more than enough evidence that
Wenby likes to play dirty. You go all the way back,
and I'm just not talking about the Nicks. You go
back another series Wemby plays over the line. Now, I
get it, he's twenty one and he's trying to assert
his territory and teams have to be physical with him.
(21:22):
I get that. But there are these over the line
plays that Wemby commits that the NBA has turned the
other eye out, turned their a blind eye to and said, yeah, no, nowhere,
we're not gonna do that. We're not gonna do that.
I can't believe they gave Wenby the flagrant last night
in the middle of the game. But you know, I'm
actually glad they did, because the Knicks outscored him fifty
five twenty five and won the game. But the NBA
(21:43):
has got a Wemby problem because he's a guy that
they have said, he's the chosen one. He is the
face of the league. And you see the ratings on television,
highest rated NBA Finals in nearly twenty years. You have
the knicks, you have Wemby. It's a great formula. But
the NBA can't sit here and continue to protect and
his dirty play. They're gonna have to come down and

if he commits a flagrant foul, they're gonna have to
never call him on it. Right, and he's one flagrant
away from being suspended for a game. If I'm Wenby
right now, I feel like I have KRT bluntche you
whatever the hell I want to, because you're not gonna
kick me out of a finals game. But the NBA's
got a problem because Wemby is a dirty player, and
there's protecting yourself and there's being physical, and there's going
(22:24):
out of your way for plays. If it was a
case where all the dirtiness with Wemby is coming from
being down low with Karl Anthony Towns, let's just say,
and there's elbowing and there's pushing and shoving, I would say, well,
you know, what that's physical play and you call it
however you see it flagrance. But these are now plays now.
The last two this is him going out of his
way to kick really weirdly at Ogianno nobi'skni or near
(22:48):
it or that could have been an injury. This is
him shoving Jalen brunsonto the ground. Where he does that's
not a thing that hey, I have to do this.
This is not part of physical play. Underneath, this is
him going out of his way way to do something physical.
And you want to go back throughout the playoffs and
look at all the questionable Wenby plays, they're not I'm
tied up with a guy down low. This is I'm
(23:09):
going out of it to make a run at Alex
Caruso who's standing there, because I don't like the fact
that he's getting in my face. He's guarding me so low.
Like you go back, the NBA has a Wemby problem
and they can't let him continue. As much as they
want to be the face of the league, they can't
let this continue.
Speaker 3 (23:23):
No, it's because you take the full supercut, and it's generally,
at least to my estimation, a lot of it is
retaliatory but it's like the delayed gratification of all right,
wait for it now, I'm gonna do it, as opposed
to all right, as you say, let's go back and forth.
You've got those big battles with Kat for position, or
(23:46):
he and Mitchell Robinson getting after it. Go back to
the Minnesota back and forth with Red right and getting
him up in the throat and everything else. I mean,
we've seen the retaliatory side of it even yesterday. Right,
if he'd gone and taken an elbow to Alvarado, you
could have said, okay, it makes sense because there were

a couple of times where Alvarado got a little questionable
in terms of going at his knees. You go back
to game Game three might have been an end of
game two, but there was the video of kind of
a stumbling Jalen Brunson who does the all right, I'm
kind of faking, like like your alignment, I'm faking. I'm
blocking down and I give you a free rein and
then I cut back and pop you to where he
(24:28):
gets into Wemby's knee and thigh area, to where it's like,
all right, that's that what didn't look great?
Speaker 1 (24:35):
Right?
Speaker 3 (24:36):
Like there's little moments, but then his retaliations are huge
and amplified, and he's coming with a bunch of force.
And now we're looking at a number of these big plays.
The Brunson one where he shoved him, all right, how
that's not at least a fall in the moment still
remains one of the dumber things we've seen in these

NBA playoffs, which are full of bad officiating moments, blunders, omissions,
et cetera. But yeah, this has been the go back
to the regular season. There's a super cut. You got
all these playoff moments, and if nothing else, he's got
to be smarter about it, cuz some teams will enable

and employ an enforcer going forward. You really haven't seen that, right,
You get the adjutants. You mentioned Cruzo, I mentioned Alvarado.

And album like eleven times.

But he's but he's getting in at it, like he's
trying to establish it. He's basically running into his legs,
yeah right, and kind of diving down low to cut
his legs. It's like, all right, is a dirty no,
But you're a neat and you've now and that's not
been called until the what seventh, eighth, eleventh time, Like
that's another thing where an official's got to be like,

all right, he's not really boxing him out at this point.
He's just he's just trying to run into him and
create a problem. And look, that's going to be the strategy.
You've realized he will really right. We watched it with
Jokic in their series with Minnesota very early on.

Where he's normally pretty even tempered and he started to
lose it. Buts that plus and Jokicic.

Has always kind of been a right up to the line,
clean dirty player, Like there's there's lots of times where
I see him he sticks that foot under. Sure that
should be a flake because the NBA seems to be
looking for that. Now you stick your foot under the
landing spot, like Yokic has done that for a long time,
and he's always been right at the line. But this
is where like, like the league has never really had
to deal with the fact where your most marketable and

biggest player plays dirty and over the line, right like
from from Jordan to Kobe and Lebron and Duncan and
and you've never had a guy that's been hey, I'll
play this way, But man, am I going to give
you some dirty highlights that I could earn a flagrant
foul to, Like, I get that. It's new for the NBA,
and that's why they have a problem because so far
it's been we're gonna protect Wemby as much as we can.

Now they put themselves in a corner because now it's
it's one big, one big play in Game five that
has been a typical Wemby play because look, we know
the guy likes to you know, the guy likes to
play dirty. Like, are they gonna have the guts to
say that's a flagrant and you're done for the next game,
like they sort of have to or they're gonna lose
all credibility because it's too public. Now everybody sees what

Wemby does away from the ball on these plays. Now
it's not where all this happened and gets lost in
the game. This is now stuff that becomes front and
center topics the next day. I appreciate you.

And the other is that you're looking at you got
your makeup call because that that thing with Robinson, was
that really a flagrant in the grand scheme of things?

give it to Wemby. But he's Robinson had his arm
up going in, so they called it okay. Great. So

When we talked about the NBA playoffs coming into the
playoffs and we talked about the Knicks, and I said
the they hadn't been trending well, but hey, defensively been
really good. They're figuring things out offensively. And the one thing,
what did I say before the playoffs even started? The
Knicks have been through a lot in the last couple
(31:05):
of years playoff wise, and the fact that they didn't
put it together, but they were playing very well defensively
the last month, which was a really big deal that
that no one really talked about, is that maybe the
Knicks were just waiting for the playoffs to start. And
it took him a couple of games. Clearly, you know,
against the Hawks losing get that guy out on a rail,
right brown stake, they just needed to play the younger
(31:28):
team instead of the older team, right. But I said
that could be the case because with a lot of
teams that have been through the playoff wars, Yeah, the
regular season isn't quite gonna be what you think it's
going to be. When the playoffs come, We're we're flipping
that switch. And that's kind of where I come down
right now on Team USA for the World Cup, is
(31:50):
that there's not been a lot over the course of
the past year, since Poachatino's taken over in our first
game tomorrow night. There's not been a lot that tells you, oh, hey,
we're ready to make a big run. But we're in
an easy group, and if we win the group, we'll
have an easy round of sixteen match, and you're thinking, okay, quarterfinals,
this could be a big run. There's not been a
(32:11):
lot out there to show you that, oh hey, we're
really putting it together. However, the last couple of friendlies
they've played, you know, I get why they played them,
and they look pretty good. Last outside of a couple
of brain cramps, they've looked pretty good. And I like
the fact that Poachatino was playing these friendlies real close
to the World Cup, because this team that he picked
hasn't had a lot of time to play together. And
(32:33):
especially the fact that I'm gonna pick you know, basically
seventeen defenders one midfielder. I mean, okay, if something happens
in midfield, we're screwed because he didn't pick enough. But
they needed time to play together. I like what I
saw the last couple of games, and there's maybe a
little bit of you know, maybe they're just waiting for
the for the actual competition to start, and Team USA
(32:56):
has a little bit more up their sleeve, right, this
is supposed to be when the goal and generation comes through,
and this is polistic gonna live lead the United States
as far as they can. They do have a lot
of talent, they have not put it together. We have
not had a lot of positive stories about the USMNT
over the last couple of years. But I'm willing to
hold throw it out there that maybe this is just
(33:17):
they're waiting for the tournament to start, because the rest
of it is Poachatino feels like I'm just here as
an advisor and I'm beating it back to Europe as
soon as the World Cup is over, and you know
who knows the future is going to be. We have
a Burholter and a rain of both on the team.
How can that go wrong? But again, I'm willing to
throw it open that maybe this is just they need
to play and they're gonna show us something because I

feel I feel much more optimistic than I think I
have the right to be for Team USA. Well, but
that's it.
Speaker 3 (33:44):
We look at the group stage, you got an expanded field.
Opportunity knocks. There is that large divide squad. What thirteen
guys back policitics? You've been We've been waiting at it forever,
Like you've seen him shine in different competitions and here
I think he's won one goal from Ty and Winalda

for second all time for US men's national team. You
and I have been doing this long enough where we
were looking at the physique and the power of Josie
Aldador was gonna be that guy to run through. Now
he couldn't stay healthy, ham He's got him with this squad.
I think the best thing we can say about it,
and the most exciting part is that there's not been
a lot of noise around this team.

The selection process little odd right, the way you're going
through it's like, all right, you got an email and
that's it.

You're either it or you're out. But if that's the.

Weirdest and most contentious piece of the process, I think
we're doing okay. Remember we were four years ago talking
about guys fighting. You mentioned the two surnames there. It's
like you know you, no you, and all of these things.
If the worst that swirling is, hey, this guy might
be in for a massive transfer fee in his league.

If this breaks right, like, Okay, I don't care because
that means the US one, yeah, all right, or they've
performed well, like all of that's great. You can fight
the European clubs about that all you want.

Can get a little bit of run, and certainly the
group sets up nicely starting tomorrow with Paraguay.
Speaker 1 (35:16):
Yeah, I mean, look, it's an look, when you host
the World Cup, you get an easy draw. That's how
it goes, right. I love getting the being the beneficiary
or something that everybody else has been the beneficiary of
over the course of the time the World Cup. And
as long as they win the group, the Elite eight,
this quarterfinal round should be there. We should go now

not winning, and suddenly that group, that round of sixteen
game becomes a lot more difficult. So but again, I've
not seen so much to be so high on this team.
It's not like i've seen them trend. But yes, the
quiet has been good. And again maybe they're the Knicks.
They just we just need the games to start, and
we're gonna show you, because that's clearly what the Knicks.
They needed the games to start, and they were gonna

show us exactly what they were and this is what
we've seen.

myriad storylines plays big plays, the way we draw up
our our little notes back and forth and highlight things.

and moved on to whatever Law and Order episode I
was watching.

Now. Look, and there's no rest for me, because now
it's like, okay, the mentally draining, I mean, I think
I need a thirty for thirty on me every day
going okay, I get really high off of that, but
I gotta come back the next day because I'm back
here for Game five of the Stanley Cup Final. Now
and the Hurricanes, and I'm like, okay, a ho smeetching
the cough three one going to the third period. I'm like,
I could have both of my teams one win away

from the championship in both sports for a lifetime of
where it's been Like, Jason, you are walking through a
desert that there's no water. I may tease you that
there's water, but there won't be and you're gonna keep walking.
And when just when you think you can't take it anymore, ah,
I'll let's just go a little bit further and a
little bit for that. And now it's like, after years
(02:55):
and years, like in a Journey of Odysseus, I could
be sitting here just like standing going Hey, one hundred
yards away, is that a big swimming pool? Is that
a big estate? Is that a lot of people partying?
Like it's a bud light commercial? Hey, I know, wow,
I'm this close to it. I could be this close,
my carbon.

After all of these years of suffering in your private
life and certainly wearing it out air, it's the convergence
of the last two months is like you've run a marathon.
I wish we'd had a heart monitor on you. And
I don't know if it's the equivalent of walking, biking, running,
swimming a couple of one hundred miles, but the ebb

and flow, I mean it would age a lesser man. Here,
you have embraced hope even in the darkest time. Although
I mean, look in this game that's been chippy. I
mean we had we went a long time without an
actual goal, which was an achievement for this series. But
then you get a wide open Hey, I can kick

the puck to my stick and have plenty of time
to still go tie shelf, and nobody's recovered, so like
everything is coming up Smith.

Right now, I feel like in the movie the like
the bad guy or or not the bad guy, but
more the tragic hero that that starts out a good
guy but turns bad but is not really bad. Is
just like kind of misled, where like, hey, I'm gonna
trade my my long life whatever it is, for incredible
power for a short amount of time that they know

is gonna kill that person. And that's kind of what
I'm not like, Okay, I'm I'm trading everything now for
these for these two series. Right now with the hurricanes
of the Knicks, knowing full well, but in the end
I could be it for me man, that's it.

the Hurricanes are twenty minutes away from going back to

he has been terrific so far. And what did I
just really quick before we get onto play of the day,
which is an incredible play of the day. I've told
you in the beginning, Freddy Anderson has been great, right,
but we're gonna need Brandon Bussy at some point because Freddy,
his entire career has been can he put it all together?

And the Hurricanes traded from a few years ago, and
with whether it was injury or ineffective play, he had
stretches where he's fantastic, but they've needed something else. And
I told you they're gonna need Bussy, and look at
them the last game and now this game, they've needed

some point you realize it's not working quite so well,

got to see them, and they got to see the
fans as they're walking in. Like there was no other

way for the Spurs to get in other than to
walk around the bus, and so fans could sit there
and yell at them and throw stuff at them. There's
huge joke about that.

I think that's a one hundred percent the case that
we've shut down whatever the cause they get deliveries, right,
Trucks have to be able to go down there to
deliver and put stuff into the kitchen and linen services
and whatever else. You've watched New York City at four
o'clock in the morning at work. It's a marvelous, marvelous thing.

one and he's not. I don't even think the person's
watching like the good Avatar. It's like the most recent Avatar.
It's like, really, I mean, everybody is watching the game
and it's one. But I'm gonna watch Avatar here on
the plane. I'm not gonna not gonna watch a basketball game,
not gonna watch what could be an incredible come back here,
the greatest comeback in finals history. I'm gonna watch Avatar

because I want to see exactly what James Cameron can
do the seventeenth time around with Avatar that I didn't
see the first sixteen times. Unobtainium.

All I need to say, I keep waiting to have
a joystick a fix to my seat when I go
to see in one of those movies. But remember, not
everybody cares about the NBA I know, I know that's
hard to believe. It's a cultural moment.

I mean, it's I mean, I don't think people understand
the sheer impact of that game, the greatest comeback in
finals history, a final shot that's going to live forever.
Like we got used to all these Michael Jordan moments
for so long in the NBA Finals, Like, yeah, we
got them all the time. Tell me one big NBA
outside of Lebron's block, Tell me one big moment that

we've had you off the top of your head in
a finals game that you can remember. Right, you go
back and go, okay, well yeah, well okay, well we
have okay, okay, what okay Lebron's block already going back
almost ten years, right, Okay, it was that kind of
that kind of impact, that kind of moment. But the
play of the day in this because I keep laughing
because it's so great, because this is the best of

Knicks fans, Right, we've seen the worst of There's plenty
of worse, not everybody, you know, And it gets broad
brush that all you know, Knicks fans they're doing this,
they're doing this, they're destroying things, not everybody. These aren't
Nicks with These are people that go, hey, I'm using
the Knicks winning as a way to go out and
just act insane. Oh but it's the same thing, right,
we always saw people get all up in arms about
football players. It's the same five guys that account for

most of the stupidity. And it's a very small percent.
But yes, Knicks fans painted with the broad brush. But
this is my favorite video because it's just a large
hundreds of fans who want to celebrate something, right. They
just the Knicks won, and they'll celebrate anything. So this
is on the Upper east Side and I believe it's

near Columbia where it happened. So Upper east Side last
night after the game, which was just absolutely insane, fans
like in the middle of the streets, no one can
get no one can get around, and a UPS truck
pulls up to the light. Now, don't don't worry, you're
you're thinking the worst thing, don't. Everything was fine. The
UPS guy's gonna tell this story the rest of his life.
And the UPS truck pulls up to a light and

the fans that are just looking for something to cheer
start giving the UPS truck MVP chance. Here it is
here's your play of the day. Here's Knicks fans on
the street last night when a UPS truck pulled up
to a light on the Upper east Side. They're chatting Ups.

Here the laughter. They're going into the into the truck
to shake the guy's hand. It's just a UPS drivery.
He's driving his UPS done UPS Like, here comes a
big truck because we're later on in the evening. Good
for UPS around the clock. Baby, that's a big thing

I mean, there's a UPS truck out at you know, midnight.
That's awesome. I mean, that's the just the fact I
want to cheer for some they would have cheered if
a guy crossed the street. Uh, and and he just

hand in the air? Eh, all right, all right, Like
that's what it would have been. But the UPS truck

I mean that that is when I saw that today,
I couldn't stop. I'm showing everybody in this video. Here's
my favorite video of the day. They're just chanting for
the UPS guy and the fact that they went into
the truck just to shake his hand, like I want
to just party. I want to just It's like it's
like it's like New Year's Eve, like you hug people
and and and and and you say and you say things.
Hey man, you know, I know we've had a tough year.

Whatever it is people kiss for the first time at
midnight on New Year's Eve. That's kind of what that moment.
I just want to celebrate with somebody. It's like like

All right, But coming off of Game four, right, and
all the heroics of Game four, now looking ahead to
Game five and beyond in the NBA Finals and Nicks
have a chance to clinch. I just keep thinking of
Rick Buker's words with us last night. It's not a
matter of if, but when the Knicks win the championship,
and that I said, do you ever think you'd ever
say that? He goes, Nope, never did, Never thought I'd

ever say that on your show or any other show.
Speaker 3 (19:28):
I didn't really even think he'd commit to it, even
last night. Like especially the way these games have gone
right again, it's been madness.
Speaker 1 (19:36):
But after seeing the video out today, you know it's
another day where here is a questionable video of Victor
Webbin Yama. We go from the pushdown of Jalen bruntson
a couple of days ago that did not get ruled
a flagrant foul it's like, Okay, NBA, what are we doing?
Then you saw the video today of what happened when
(19:57):
Wemby makes a run at Oganu Noobi, who is guarding
the ball in the perimeter, and and the big leap
and the kick that just lent was Yeah, that lands
him right in front of Og. And it looks like
he's kicking right for his knee, but he lands right
in front of Og. And if Og had moved or
if the play had moved a little bit, like that
(20:18):
kick is getting to OG's knee, and who knows what
kind of injury that is. Like, that's a really dangerous play. Now,
I'm I'm not going to sit here and say, oh,
Wemby was going after his acl did Wemby? Was Wemby
maybe looking to make a statement and maybe make a
big thud in front of Wemby in front of Og
or do something to maybe get in his head for
(20:40):
the rest of the game. I'm gonna be out here
setting picks right like I can see that. But that's
still a really dangerous play because you don't know what's
gonna happen. You don't know if the ball's gonna dribble,
what OG's gonna do defensively, I'm gonna see the guy coming,
try to move, and all of a sudden, now he's
got a torn acl and his knee is ruined. Right,
the NBA has a Wemby problem and they can't ignore it.
(21:02):
And the problem is Wemby plays dirty, right, and for
a guy that they want to be the face of
the league, We've now seen more than enough evidence that
Wenby likes to play dirty. You go all the way back,
and I'm just not talking about the Nicks. You go
back another series Wemby plays over the line. Now, I
get it, he's twenty one and he's trying to assert
his territory and teams have to be physical with him.
(21:22):
I get that. But there are these over the line
plays that Wemby commits that the NBA has turned the
other eye out, turned their a blind eye to and said, yeah, no, nowhere,
we're not gonna do that. We're not gonna do that.
I can't believe they gave Wenby the flagrant last night
in the middle of the game. But you know, I'm
actually glad they did, because the Knicks outscored him fifty
five twenty five and won the game. But the NBA
(21:43):
has got a Wemby problem because he's a guy that
they have said, he's the chosen one. He is the
face of the league. And you see the ratings on television,
highest rated NBA Finals in nearly twenty years. You have
the knicks, you have Wemby. It's a great formula. But
the NBA can't sit here and continue to protect and
his dirty play. They're gonna have to come down and
(22:03):
if he commits a flagrant foul, they're gonna have to
never call him on it. Right, and he's one flagrant
away from being suspended for a game. If I'm Wenby
right now, I feel like I have KRT bluntche you
whatever the hell I want to, because you're not gonna
kick me out of a finals game. But the NBA's
got a problem because Wemby is a dirty player, and
there's protecting yourself and there's being physical, and there's going
(22:24):
out of your way for plays. If it was a
case where all the dirtiness with Wemby is coming from
being down low with Karl Anthony Towns, let's just say,
and there's elbowing and there's pushing and shoving, I would say, well,
you know, what that's physical play and you call it
however you see it flagrance. But these are now plays now.
The last two this is him going out of his
way to kick really weirdly at Ogianno nobi'skni or near
(22:48):
it or that could have been an injury. This is
him shoving Jalen brunsonto the ground. Where he does that's
not a thing that hey, I have to do this.
This is not part of physical play. Underneath, this is
him going out of his way way to do something physical.
And you want to go back throughout the playoffs and
look at all the questionable Wenby plays, they're not I'm
tied up with a guy down low. This is I'm
(23:09):
going out of it to make a run at Alex
Caruso who's standing there, because I don't like the fact
that he's getting in my face. He's guarding me so low.
Like you go back, the NBA has a Wemby problem
and they can't let him continue. As much as they
want to be the face of the league, they can't
let this continue.
Speaker 3 (23:23):
No, it's because you take the full supercut, and it's generally,
at least to my estimation, a lot of it is
retaliatory but it's like the delayed gratification of all right,
wait for it now, I'm gonna do it, as opposed
to all right, as you say, let's go back and forth.
You've got those big battles with Kat for position, or
(23:46):
he and Mitchell Robinson getting after it. Go back to
the Minnesota back and forth with Red right and getting
him up in the throat and everything else. I mean,
we've seen the retaliatory side of it even yesterday. Right,
if he'd gone and taken an elbow to Alvarado, you
could have said, okay, it makes sense because there were
(24:06):
a couple of times where Alvarado got a little questionable
in terms of going at his knees. You go back
to game Game three might have been an end of
game two, but there was the video of kind of
a stumbling Jalen Brunson who does the all right, I'm
kind of faking, like like your alignment, I'm faking. I'm
blocking down and I give you a free rein and
then I cut back and pop you to where he
(24:28):
gets into Wemby's knee and thigh area, to where it's like,
all right, that's that what didn't look great?
Speaker 1 (24:35):
Right?
Speaker 3 (24:36):
Like there's little moments, but then his retaliations are huge
and amplified, and he's coming with a bunch of force.
And now we're looking at a number of these big plays.
The Brunson one where he shoved him, all right, how
that's not at least a fall in the moment still
remains one of the dumber things we've seen in these
(24:57):
NBA playoffs, which are full of bad officiating moments, blunders, omissions,
et cetera. But yeah, this has been the go back
to the regular season. There's a super cut. You got
all these playoff moments, and if nothing else, he's got
to be smarter about it, cuz some teams will enable
(25:17):
and employ an enforcer going forward. You really haven't seen that, right,
You get the adjutants. You mentioned Cruzo, I mentioned Alvarado.
Speaker 1 (25:26):
And album like eleven times.
Speaker 3 (25:28):
But he's but he's getting in at it, like he's
trying to establish it. He's basically running into his legs,
yeah right, and kind of diving down low to cut
his legs. It's like, all right, is a dirty no,
But you're a neat and you've now and that's not
been called until the what seventh, eighth, eleventh time, Like
that's another thing where an official's got to be like,
(25:49):
all right, he's not really boxing him out at this point.
He's just he's just trying to run into him and
create a problem. And look, that's going to be the strategy.
You've realized he will really right. We watched it with
Jokic in their series with Minnesota very early on.
Speaker 1 (26:05):
Yeah, and the thing.
Speaker 3 (26:06):
Where he's normally pretty even tempered and he started to
lose it. Buts that plus and Jokicic.
Speaker 1 (26:12):
Has always kind of been a right up to the line,
clean dirty player, Like there's there's lots of times where
I see him he sticks that foot under. Sure that
should be a flake because the NBA seems to be
looking for that. Now you stick your foot under the
landing spot, like Yokic has done that for a long time,
and he's always been right at the line. But this
is where like, like the league has never really had
to deal with the fact where your most marketable and
(26:35):
biggest player plays dirty and over the line, right like
from from Jordan to Kobe and Lebron and Duncan and
and you've never had a guy that's been hey, I'll
play this way, But man, am I going to give
you some dirty highlights that I could earn a flagrant
foul to, Like, I get that. It's new for the NBA,
and that's why they have a problem because so far
it's been we're gonna protect Wemby as much as we can.
(26:57):
Now they put themselves in a corner because now it's
it's one big, one big play in Game five that
has been a typical Wemby play because look, we know
the guy likes to you know, the guy likes to
play dirty. Like, are they gonna have the guts to
say that's a flagrant and you're done for the next game,
like they sort of have to or they're gonna lose
all credibility because it's too public. Now everybody sees what
(27:19):
Wemby does away from the ball on these plays. Now
it's not where all this happened and gets lost in
the game. This is now stuff that becomes front and
center topics the next day. I appreciate you.
Speaker 3 (27:29):
Just remember it's Adam Silver, So you got that, uh,
And the other is that you're looking at you got
your makeup call because that that thing with Robinson, was
that really a flagrant in the grand scheme of things?
Speaker 1 (27:43):
Yeah, but it was but he got his but he
got his arm up and that's why they had to
give it to Wemby. But he's Robinson had his arm
up going in, so they called it okay. Great. So
when Wemby did it to cat okay, to the chin okay.
But now he's not. Now now look look at this.
He is forcing your hand. And I guarantee you if
you're Wemby, you were thinking, I am bulletproof man. There

is no way they're gonna suspend the best player in
the bleeping game. They're not gonna suspend me for a game.
But the NBA has got to have the guts if
he gives you an over the line play, and I
am sure he will because he does it every game.
Well maybe like the Iron Chic, the late great Iron
Sheek taught us. And no, I'm not gonna say blank
this blank that we can, but one of those is

to be humbled for when Minyama, we joked about it

make him realize, you know what, you're not quite there
just yet.

It's like, oh, yeah, that's gay.

When we talked about the NBA playoffs coming into the
playoffs and we talked about the Knicks, and I said
the they hadn't been trending well, but hey, defensively been
really good. They're figuring things out offensively. And the one thing,
what did I say before the playoffs even started? The
Knicks have been through a lot in the last couple
(31:05):
of years playoff wise, and the fact that they didn't
put it together, but they were playing very well defensively
the last month, which was a really big deal that
that no one really talked about, is that maybe the
Knicks were just waiting for the playoffs to start. And
it took him a couple of games. Clearly, you know,
against the Hawks losing get that guy out on a rail,
right brown stake, they just needed to play the younger
(31:28):
team instead of the older team, right. But I said
that could be the case because with a lot of
teams that have been through the playoff wars, Yeah, the
regular season isn't quite gonna be what you think it's
going to be. When the playoffs come, We're we're flipping
that switch. And that's kind of where I come down
right now on Team USA for the World Cup, is
(31:50):
that there's not been a lot over the course of
the past year, since Poachatino's taken over in our first
game tomorrow night. There's not been a lot that tells you, oh, hey,
we're ready to make a big run. But we're in
an easy group, and if we win the group, we'll
have an easy round of sixteen match, and you're thinking, okay, quarterfinals,
this could be a big run. There's not been a
(32:11):
lot out there to show you that, oh hey, we're
really putting it together. However, the last couple of friendlies
they've played, you know, I get why they played them,
and they look pretty good. Last outside of a couple
of brain cramps, they've looked pretty good. And I like
the fact that Poachatino was playing these friendlies real close
to the World Cup, because this team that he picked
hasn't had a lot of time to play together. And
(32:33):
especially the fact that I'm gonna pick you know, basically
seventeen defenders one midfielder. I mean, okay, if something happens
in midfield, we're screwed because he didn't pick enough. But
they needed time to play together. I like what I
saw the last couple of games, and there's maybe a
little bit of you know, maybe they're just waiting for
the for the actual competition to start, and Team USA
(32:56):
has a little bit more up their sleeve, right, this
is supposed to be when the goal and generation comes through,
and this is polistic gonna live lead the United States
as far as they can. They do have a lot
of talent, they have not put it together. We have
not had a lot of positive stories about the USMNT
over the last couple of years. But I'm willing to
hold throw it out there that maybe this is just
(33:17):
they're waiting for the tournament to start, because the rest
of it is Poachatino feels like I'm just here as
an advisor and I'm beating it back to Europe as
soon as the World Cup is over, and you know
who knows the future is going to be. We have
a Burholter and a rain of both on the team.
How can that go wrong? But again, I'm willing to
throw it open that maybe this is just they need
to play and they're gonna show us something because I
(33:39):
feel I feel much more optimistic than I think I
have the right to be for Team USA. Well, but
that's it.
Speaker 3 (33:44):
We look at the group stage, you got an expanded field.
Opportunity knocks. There is that large divide squad. What thirteen
guys back policitics? You've been We've been waiting at it forever,
Like you've seen him shine in different competitions and here
I think he's won one goal from Ty and Winalda
(34:04):
for second all time for US men's national team. You
and I have been doing this long enough where we
were looking at the physique and the power of Josie
Aldador was gonna be that guy to run through. Now
he couldn't stay healthy, ham He's got him with this squad.
I think the best thing we can say about it,
and the most exciting part is that there's not been
a lot of noise around this team.
Speaker 1 (34:27):
Right.
Speaker 3 (34:27):
The selection process little odd right, the way you're going
through it's like, all right, you got an email and
that's it.
Speaker 1 (34:33):
You're either it or you're out. But if that's the.
Speaker 3 (34:36):
Weirdest and most contentious piece of the process, I think
we're doing okay. Remember we were four years ago talking
about guys fighting. You mentioned the two surnames there. It's
like you know you, no you, and all of these things.
If the worst that swirling is, hey, this guy might
be in for a massive transfer fee in his league.
(34:57):
If this breaks right, like, Okay, I don't care because
that means the US one, yeah, all right, or they've
performed well, like all of that's great. You can fight
the European clubs about that all you want.
Speaker 1 (35:09):
Here, it's the if you.
Speaker 3 (35:11):
Can get a little bit of run, and certainly the
group sets up nicely starting tomorrow with Paraguay.
Speaker 1 (35:16):
Yeah, I mean, look, it's an look, when you host
the World Cup, you get an easy draw. That's how
it goes, right. I love getting the being the beneficiary
or something that everybody else has been the beneficiary of
over the course of the time the World Cup. And
as long as they win the group, the Elite eight,
this quarterfinal round should be there. We should go now
(35:37):
not winning, and suddenly that group, that round of sixteen
game becomes a lot more difficult. So but again, I've
not seen so much to be so high on this team.
It's not like i've seen them trend. But yes, the
quiet has been good. And again maybe they're the Knicks.
They just we just need the games to start, and
we're gonna show you, because that's clearly what the Knicks.
They needed the games to start, and they were gonna
(35:59):
show us exactly what they were and this is what
we've seen.
