Speaker 2 (00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
Hey, Mike Brown might want to guard thirty. Okay, might
want to put a guy on thirty. I'm just saying
you might want to put a guy on him. I mean,
I'm just watching the game, like anybody else might want
to put a guy on thirty.

Speaker 3 (00:41):
I mean, I don't know, am I.

Speaker 1 (00:43):
It's the reason wise No, Well, you were screaming at
the television as I walked in the door.

Speaker 3 (00:49):
Yeah, this is gonna be a seven point deficit. Watch it.
Watch you watch it swing wide open? Bang.

Speaker 1 (00:56):
Yeah, I'll tell you we jump right in Game one
of the NBA Finals. The Jason Smith Show with my
best friend Mike Harmon, This time it counts. For over
forty years, Tirec's been helping customers find the right tires
for how what and where they drive shipped fast and
free backed by free Road has a protection with convenient
installation options like mobile tire installation. Tirerac dot com is

(01:18):
the way tire buying should be.

Speaker 4 (01:20):
Well.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
The second half is just underway. Fifty five forty eight.
It was a one point game in the final minute.
But as I told you when you walked in, I go,
this is going to be a bad final minute for
the Knicks. They're not gonna close well. And sure enough
the Spurs hit a three, Julian Champenni hits another three.
I mean, it's the Champagne game we got. I think
they want to put a guy on him at some

(01:42):
point five to six from three point range, and first
half including the dagger at the end that was making
a seven point That was.

Speaker 3 (01:49):
Not great, Bob, that was not great. But what what
do I say?

Speaker 1 (01:52):
All the time NBA Finals, every round turns on a
couple of you know, a game or two in a
series where somebody that's player has an unconscious game and
it's unexpected and it's like, what were we gonna do?
The guy just had an incredible hot night and right
now it looks like at Champenny, who is fifteen points
five out of six from three point range. And again,

(02:13):
a lot of these are open threes, right, Like, that's
missed a.

Speaker 3 (02:17):
Lot of open threes early too. Yeah, then they made
them all late.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
Well what he made them as a team, they're four
of eighteen outside of the I mean, and that's the
thing is that you know, he's had some open shots
and the Knicks defense because Brunson has been in and
out of the lineup, Alvarado's playing a lot of minutes
due McBride is in the game a little bit sooner.
So I think you have some rotations that the Spurs
are taking advantage of right now because it's not been

(02:42):
a normal rotation for the Knicks.

Speaker 3 (02:44):
Now you've had Jose Alvarado.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
Come on, we'll get to Brunson in the second Like
he's got a pretty he had six points in six minutes.

Speaker 3 (02:50):
He was like running around like he was dashed. Yeah,
no name Jack Jackson.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
He turns into the fire guy and it's just kind
of flying around you that that's what Alvarado tried to
get you off the bench. So a first half that
was about a B or B plus first half of
the Knicks until the final minute where the Spurs hit
a couple of shots and closed out, got a big
turnover as well. Turned into about a c first half
for the Knicks, and it's still fifty five forty eight,

(03:16):
ten and a half to go in the third quarter.
None of the stars are really playing well. It's you know,
it's a typical game one of the NBA finals. Wemby's
not playing well. Brunson had the injury scare, which we'll
play in a second. Dearon Fox is not playing great.
Karl Anthony Towns looks very focused. Pick and roll has
been working really well with him.

Speaker 3 (03:34):
I mean he is.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
He has been the most impressive Nick by far so
far in the first half here. But I mean when
Champagnee keeps hitting threes like that, it's just he's like,
what's going on to be doing?

Speaker 3 (03:45):
Going on?

Speaker 1 (03:46):
Doing eight point six repounds early for Garlic two Towns.
They're trying to attack Wemby in one of the things
that certainly was evident in the broadcast. They're gonna try
to make him trip over his tongue by the end
of the night and facing him and battling.

Speaker 3 (04:01):
On both ends of the court.

Speaker 1 (04:03):
Karl Anthony Towns bodies him up just called for his
second fall. Josh Hart had three falls in the first half.
Nicks were not happy with the officiating, a lot of
barking at Scott Foster and his crew tonight. Well, I
will say this, I think if Brunson was SGA, he
would have been the free throw line thirty times in
the first half. Well, but he's not. But they didn't
call a lot of falls like that was the thing.

(04:25):
That's that what's rising to the level of a fall
in this game, because you saw a lot of a
lot of body, a lot of contact and down in
the low posts, like all right, we're gonna jump it in,
We're gonna we're gonna see if we can live at
the free throw line.

Speaker 3 (04:38):
It's like, nah, play on. As guys are flying to
the floor.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
It's like the guy with the mop got a lot
of work in the first half. Now, the biggest event
of the first half was something that for a split
second I thought, really all year and this is how
it's gonna end.

Speaker 3 (04:54):
This is how it's gonna end.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
Jalen Brunson to the locker room with an injury scare
and a knee injury.

Speaker 3 (05:00):
Here's how it sounded. Broke don't do it. Don't do that.
Don't do that. That's right here, n y k Jaylen
Brunston injury. I played it. That's not it's broke. It's broke.
It's broke.

Speaker 5 (05:15):
Oh sorry, it's the wrong one on Landry Shamit battling
for the rebound. Meanwhile, Jalen Brunston was doubled over, hands
on his knees, and now he's grabbing the back of
his right leg and now he's grabbing his right side.

Speaker 3 (05:30):
Try to get a look.

Speaker 4 (05:30):
On the television broadcast. Yes, it looks like shamittt trucked Barnes,
who missed the free throw, and then Barnes landed on
the lower half of Brunston, who was walking very awkwardly
down the court.

Speaker 3 (05:41):
So he's hurt. It's broke. Okay, okay, okay, okay.

Speaker 1 (05:44):
His jump shot has been broken since coming back in,
but we'll get back into that. He bengknees, left the game,
went to the locker room, came back out. Missed a
lot of time in the first half, so to continue
to be the nixt number one score in the first
half despite the fact missed a lot of time, came back,
got a knee brace. Put On did not come right

(06:06):
back in the game. This wasn't where he gets off.
He gets to the to the locker room, quick evaluation,
He's back on like he was there for a couple
of minutes. He came back, he sat on the bench,
he checked back in the game, and immediately he looked
more like Jalen Brunson. I scored six points in a row.
He was in the lane making a couple of finishes.
He got roll his ankle rolled on later on in

(06:28):
the first half, but it looked like he was trying
to sell the foul on that more than anything but
the big injury scare, I mean, leaving the game to
get his knee looked at. It looks like Brunson is okay,
at least for now. He's been out there. Since he's
come back in the game, he's played normal minutes. And
that's the best news because I look, I mean, the
only people that would say, hey, it's a it's an
advantageous for the Knicks, we Becky Hammond and Draymond Green, Well,

(06:50):
you know Jalen Brunson's out. You know you have to
worry about the small guy anymore. You guys to win
the championship. Well, they just said he couldn't be the
best player. He didn't say he couldn't be a player.

Speaker 3 (06:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (06:59):
Yeah, So it's a Draymond again as we talked about yesterday,
and listen to the whole show. Go back, what listen
to the podcast. Uh, he hates everybody. Yeah, he may
hate you know, yes, he hates all.

Speaker 3 (07:08):
That's it. That's the thing.

Speaker 1 (07:09):
Like his act is like I just hate every single
person everything that goes on.

Speaker 3 (07:13):
And you can't do that right. Eventually people are gonna go,
do why am I listening to you? Man?

Speaker 1 (07:17):
All you do is hate things. You gotta love some things, right, Yeah,
I don't even know. I would listen him and go
I didn't know if the guy loves basketball, Like do
you love basketball? Because it sounds like you really don't
like to talk about anything going. You don't give anybody credit.
Everybody stinks. There's always a few, there's always this like, dude,
you have a let you know, you're very popular. People
want to hear what you have to say. But if
you continue to just hate everything, people are gonna go, Yeah,

(07:38):
what do I care what that guy says? He really
there's always gonna be a percentage of sick of fans
that are out there and prop them up. So I
mean it's okay, But yeah, for Jalen Brunson, he's bringing
the ball up as you and I are are talking
this out here, nine minutes left to go in the
third Uh. There have been some moments where you still
see him off to the side during you know, free
throws where he's flexing and and try to stretch out.

(08:01):
But it's not like he's gonna sit out, like unless
something ripped. Brunson's not a guy who's suddenly gonna go
to the back and say, out of an abundance of caution,
the hell with that. Right, He's he battled to get
to this point. He's heard all of the naysayers and
that's been one of their rallying points here during these playoffs.
Now it has been a little mini run by the

(08:21):
Spurs in the last couple of minutes. Sixty one point
fifty is the Spurs lead right now, eight and a
half to go in the third quarter. And the one
thing I will say the development surrounding Wenby right this
is this has been the first half for Wenby so far.
We talked about last night the knickt strategy is going
to be to exhaust Wenby. Right, They're going to make
him run, make him move, keep the game close, and

(08:42):
steal it in the fourth quarter, because that's where you're
at right now. Game one on the road, a very
emotional run for the Spurs, and you're hoping, we just
want to keep it close and then we're going to
continue to make Wenby go up and down the floor
the entire game and we're going to exhaust him. And
it worked really well in the first quarter, being part
of the first quarter. But the biggest part of the game,

(09:02):
and this is this was the you know to me
still the biggest part of the game is that Wemby
goes to the bench after playing seven minutes and Knicks
have a seven point lead and the Spurs go on
a twelve oh.

Speaker 3 (09:13):
Run, which is the absolute you have to tea through
the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (09:18):
You have to win when Wemby is out of the game,
right you have You can't say, okay, well we'll keep
it even. You have to win the moments when and
when Wenby checked out in the second quarter, the Knicks
made a little run and got it closer, and it
was a one point game. But that's the biggest part
of the game so far. Wemby's out of the game
and they go on a twelve oh run and they
turned a seven point deficit into a seven point lead,

(09:38):
and that's where the first half went from there.

Speaker 3 (09:41):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (09:41):
The other part for Wemby is that since coming back in,
apparently his fouls are going to be overturned and they're
gonna put him on the line when they feel like it.
They just put him on the line and Karl Anthony
Town's picked up his third foul and I don't know,
I don't know what the officials are looking at there.
I mean that and Josh Hart's foul earlier in the game.
I got a lot of questions on. But this foul
that just put Wemby on the line was that was

(10:03):
I don't know, I don't know that you can make
that call. That was that was minimal contact and Karl
Anthony Town's backed away from him and Wemby still was
able to sell the call to get to the free
throw line. It's three fouls now on Karl Anthony Town.
So suddenly now the foul situation with the Nicks and
the Spurs becoming a big thing. Well, that's what we
as we open things up talking about not a lot
of whistles early. Now we're getting a lot of touch

(10:24):
falls getting called here early in the third quarter. Cauz
that Town's fall for his third That wasn't getting called
the first eight minutes of the game, Like it wasn't
like they were letting a body up. The overturn came
on a hook call, which is like it's been one
of the cat bread and butter moves for a long time.
So all of a sudden, hey, wait a minute, was

(10:45):
that in the scouting report. Now you're bringing it up
to the attention. But you know he had that fall overturned.
He's had a couple of others that Again, if you're
gonna call it letter of the law, he should really
be in foul trouble at this point. But superstar non
calls for game one here in San Antonio, and a
really interesting development just seconds ago. It is still a

(11:08):
thirteen point lead for the Spurs. However, Wemby has just
checked out of the game, limping to the sideline. There's
a timeout on the floor right now. Wemby looks like
he's being looked at. He is not up in the
huddle with his team. He kind of he didn't need
to get help off the court. But after a play

(11:31):
down low, which turned out to be an out of
bounds play, Wemby signaled he came out limped. Didn't look
like it was a crazy, bad limp, but still he
limped off the floor. And now with a timeout, all
the Spurs get up and Wemby sits down and it
looks like he's spread out, gonna have his knee or
his ankle looked at. And this was just seconds ago
as we're talking right here, time out on the floor.

(11:52):
So thirteen point lead for the Spurs and Jaylen Brunson
with the injury scare in the first half, and now
Wemby limping to the sideline. Now again it didn't look
but it's a limp, and he's not standing with his teammates,
he's sitting on the bench. So now probably he will
be looked at Adam silver over in the corner. Stress
eating twenty two minutes for Wenby tonight, eight of eight
from the fall line, just two of ten from the

(12:13):
field four boards. But we we do talk about it
right when you're looking at Karl Anthony Towns or whomever
else is gonna challenge him in the low post. A
little bit of body here and there land a bit awkwardly.
We've seen that through the year with Wenby at times,
and right now a big scare here in Game one.

Speaker 3 (12:31):
So again it's.

Speaker 1 (12:32):
A thirteen point lead for the Spurs early in the
third quarter. The Knicks have met Jalen Brunson's miss his
last three shots airball and I'm sure got a chance. Yeah,
this is this has been This has been a very
uneven It's been an entertaining game. It's been a very
uneven game for both teams. Uh, and you know, the
Spurs the better part of the plane now and and

(12:54):
now the Nixt the Knixt focus is just hey, we
we you know, we gotta we gotta eat into this
lead a little bit here and make it some that
we can maybe get in the fourth quarter, because now thirteen,
getting to the midway point of the third quarter, even
with Wemby not on the floor, it's not been great.
So this has kind of been a feeling out game
a bit. It's been a game of runs. The Knicks
had a run early, the Spurs had a big run.

(13:14):
Then they had to run at the end of the half.
Now they get a little bit of a run here.
So it's been fun. I mean, I mean well, I
mean not for Knicks fans, not for me, But it's
been a fun game so far. No, it's been close.
It's I wouldn't say it's been aesthetically pleaseing. Hey that's
in the NBA. I mean you've come back from more
than thirteen points before.

Speaker 3 (13:34):
Yah.

Speaker 1 (13:34):
I do like the guys behind the benches in the
Knicks jerseys, especially trying to emulate the old wacky waving inflatable,
unflailing two men a number eight? Is he wearing Ananobi
or is it Latrell Sprewell?

Speaker 4 (13:45):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (13:46):
We well, the thing is like, who is it?

Speaker 1 (13:48):
John Taturo came to the game tonight and he's wearing
a nineties Patrick Ewing.

Speaker 3 (13:53):
Jersey, which is pretty cool.

Speaker 1 (13:54):
Talk yeah, like when he showed him before the game,
like wow, that's cool like that, and only one shot
of Ben Stiller and one shot of Chalome? Like how
do you only have one shot of Chalome? I mean,
come on, man, this is the NBA Finals. People aren't
gonna be up. This is not the end of the
San Antonio Stars, This is not the this is not
the NFL where people are gonna go.

Speaker 3 (14:12):
I don't want to see Taylor Swift showing her.

Speaker 1 (14:14):
Is ruining the game for me, like you no, I
mean these are stars people want to see.

Speaker 3 (14:18):
I want want to see, Hey, who traveled? Who's there
at the game?

Speaker 1 (14:20):
Who's there? Ben Stillers there? Shalome is there? But get
one shot of them? Come on, Pedro Pascal show up.
He's of San Antonio native. He actually is dressed as
the Mandalorian at the game. Solana Gomez she's also dressed
as a Mandalorian.

Speaker 3 (14:32):
Oh yeah, there's that.

Speaker 1 (14:33):
How about George Strait also addressed as country. Now that
would be MC before the game instead of the national anthem.
They did All my exes live in Texas, Amaxas.

Speaker 3 (14:43):
I mean because it's Texas. You know, that's how it worked. Yeah,
you know he.

Speaker 1 (14:46):
Would go is Leans down it and the crowdy they
would go, ah, he goes Rosanna's down Texakana nicely.

Speaker 3 (14:55):
It was really cool, man. You could do that. It
would need the national anthem at all. I feel like
I want to go to another George straight show right now.
Let's go.

in the midway point of the third quarter. But coming
up next, we'll have the play of the day. A
huge streak is now over and why Mike Harmon when
it's all said and done, might have the worst sports
day than I will, even if the Knicks lose. That's
next right here, Jason and Mike, this is Fox Sports Radio.

That's how we get it back.

Speaker 3 (17:03):
Uh spurs lea.

Speaker 1 (17:04):
The next sixty nine sixty one, the next little mini
run in the last few minutes with Wemby out of
the game, Yeah that worked out pretty well the field.

Speaker 3 (17:12):
Yeah, it can't get better than that.

Speaker 1 (17:13):
But Wenby does come back in the game now, so
it looks like his limp he was checked out and
he is okay, So he is back in the game.
But a Landry Shammitt three has just cut it to
five shamm it. This went from the CHAMPENNI game to
the Landry Shammock game. No, just have those guys shoot
three Shammock game. You know, when I was coming in
to start the show, Rob Parker said to me, dude,

(17:34):
I have no idea how you're gonna do the show tonight.
I said me, neither, I have no idea. It's one
thing when when the Mets were in the World Series,
with baseball being a little bit more of a language sport,
it was Okay, things are happening. It's a little bit slower,
it says. But with the freneticness of the NBA Finals
now and try and watch my team in the finals,
I'm like.

Speaker 7 (17:54):
How am I gonna do this?

Speaker 1 (17:55):
I go, Rob, You're right, I have no idea. I
have no idea How'm gonna do this. But we're just
gonna do it. I'm just gonna open the mouth and
say things. That's what we're gonna gotch the general rule
of thumb. And then something we've described and taken on
as a mantra, what a many for the show for years,
but you had to practice last year with the Eastern
Conference Finals run, it just amped up for a little

(18:16):
bit to another level. Add the Wemby factor H and
I made sure to bring in carbs and I have
got some sugar.

Speaker 3 (18:25):
Yeah, yeah, good, good good, Yeah, sure we need more sugar.
I definitely believe we're gonna got to Tim Tams. Yeah,
Tim Tams. Oh yeah, wow, Okay, I didn't know, Tim,
you didn't tell me. You got to keep some surprises.

Speaker 1 (18:38):
For on air, not just by witty banter and boyish.
Good look show me Tim Tams.

Speaker 3 (18:45):
Yeah. Uh, Trustralia's favorites.

Speaker 1 (18:48):
Tracy Morgan celebrating right now on the floor the Knicks
going to the free throw line. Karl Anthony Towns. He
is having a hell of a game for the Knicks.
He is more dialed in and focused and look, he's
been terrific over the course of the past month. Right
we've talked about the Knicks, since they have changed their
team to make Karl Anthony Towns more facilitator, it's been
opening up shots for everybody else.

Speaker 3 (19:09):
And this has been the best version of the Knicks.

Speaker 1 (19:11):
This is the most again, this is the most dialed in,
the most sharp that I have seen him, the most
aggressive that I have seen him on both sides of
the of the floor in a while. Now, like he knows, Okay,
this is my finals. Now, how what I can do
to Wemby is going to be is going to dictate

(19:32):
whether or not we can win this series or not. Well,
we talked about the quote yesterday right where he talked
about gaining the respect and everything in New York and
it's based on style of play and embracing the city,
and that he and Bronson they really treasure that part
of what they've been, which means you've got to bring

(19:53):
everything to bear for seven games, right, you got plenty
of off season time once this is done. But we've
seen him very rest of on the offensive end. One
of the things in prior rounds now, Look, they're winners
of eleven straight, so it's hard to fault anything. But
the one thing you could say is at times he
was passive right in terms of his shot number being

(20:14):
down when they did actually, you know, lose those games
way back against Atlanta, when you and everybody wanted him
shipped out of town. What was the problem. No aggression
on the offensive end. Today he just said, to hell
with it, I'm going at this guy, and Wemby has
just been called for a really bad foul and I
don't mean a foul that wasn't a foul is when
he did not need to commit. He was setting a

(20:35):
pick on Jalen Brunson, and Brunson was not getting around him,
Like I mean, Brunson's not getting around him. But Wemby
pushed Brunson put his hands out, and you know when
Wenby puts his hands out, it's hard to miss, right,
Oh Sue, He's got like a nine foot reach and
pushes Brunson, who falls to the ground. So it's an
offensive foul on Wemby. Again, he's not in foul trouble,
but you know, you still you want to watch out
for him coming back in the game. Here now a

(20:57):
seventy one, seventy one game. The Knicks have now tied
it against the Spurs with two minutes to go in
the third quarter. Two personal fouls now on Wimby. I
just run Mitchell Robinson out there and just have him
attack when Bin Yama because we've seen him throw elbows
at people. Yeah, you see mad and flustered in several series.
Like that's what I'd be doing. Yeah, I'd just be

(21:18):
running extra bodies out there.

Speaker 3 (21:20):
It's like, can you give me a couple of minutes.

Speaker 1 (21:22):
It's like you don't have to actually contribute much of
anything except to body this guy up. So again, we'll
have more on this game coming up in a couple
of minutes. Uh Spurs have taking a seventy three seventy
one lead over the Knicks right now again, two minutes
to go in the third quarter. But it's time now
for the play of the day. The play of the day,
of course, brought to you by tire Rack for over
forty years, Tirerack's been open customers find the right tires

(21:42):
for how, what and where they drive. Shipped fast and
free backed by free Road, has protection with convenient installation
options like mobile tire installation. Tiraq dot Com is the
way tire buying should be. Well, we had a lot
of drama with this today. We nearly got to another
day where one of the most hallowed records in all

(22:02):
of baseball history was within reach. However, the big streak
from Christopher Sanchez is now over.

Speaker 8 (22:10):
Swung on line towards left field. That's a base h
France coming around third. They're gonna wave him home. The
throw by marsh is not in time, and the score
streak is over. And listen to the crowd applaud Christopher Sanchez.

Speaker 3 (22:25):
Here in a one to one game.

Speaker 8 (22:27):
Everyone on their feet, applauding Christopher Sanchez. Fifty and two
thirds scored us, ended by Jackson Merrill's single.

Speaker 1 (22:36):
The Left Phillies Radio Network on the call, I mean,
he had a fifty inning streak, and look, he's been
on such a heater. There was no there was there's
no doubt he's gonna come out of here. You know,
look the Padre lineup. This is where he's gonna He's
gonna continue that streak. I don't see it ending. But
this is where things get really interesting because last night

(22:56):
on this she listened to the show. Last night, we
had John Paul Morosi on the show. Right, John palm Rose,
the MLB Network insider extraord here, and we said, okay,
big deal coming up tomorrow Christopher Sanchez.

Speaker 3 (23:07):
He could be two starts away from.

Speaker 1 (23:09):
Potentially breaking Oral Herschiz's record of fifty nine consecutive scoreless
innings pitched. Right, it's a forty four and two thirds.
I said, what's your prediction for Christopher Sanchez for tomorrow?
And what did he tell us? He said, seven innings,
no runs. Wait, wait, wait, right change six and two
thirds innings, no runs for Christopher Sanchez, Like.

Speaker 3 (23:31):
Whoa wait, what really? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (23:32):
Six and two thirds scoreless for him? I said, okay,
and we laugh. God, dude, what do you mean why
you're changing by a third?

Speaker 3 (23:40):
Inning?

Speaker 1 (23:40):
Goes Yeah, no, no, seven, not gonna be gonna be six
and two thirds. We're gonna bring this back. We're gonna
get this from last night, because this is insane. Christopher
Sanchez at six and two thirds innings is when Meryll
singled the left to bring in the run to break
the streak. Yeah, Frants France doubled with two outs and
the mer h she strikes out swing Bogerts grounds out

(24:01):
to shortstop. They should have taken him out right. John
Palmer Rosie apparently has the script to Major League Baseball
take him out of six and two thirds, because then
what Franz doubles, Meryl singles in the streak is over.
Like I laughed at John Palmer rose I laughed at
him last, like, dude, you go seven, six and two thirds,
what are you doing?

Speaker 3 (24:17):
What's going on? What are you doing?

Speaker 1 (24:19):
And it turns out that's exactly what happened tonight. Is
what was my follow up joke to that. You know
what the line of his uh, his outs was nineteen
and a half for the game, got twenty outs and
then gives up the run. Ultimately gets out of the
inning pitches seven. Straw gets his seventh win of the year.
I just want to know, was Oral hersheys are at

(24:40):
one of his car dealerships or was he at his
card shop when he got the news and got to
celebrate your nemesis Oral.

Speaker 3 (24:50):
He think they'll celebrate like the Dolphins in seventy two
when when.

Speaker 1 (24:53):
Popping champagne, Champagne was popping CHAMPAGNEO, Nah, no one's getting
my record.

Speaker 3 (24:57):
We all good?

Speaker 1 (24:58):
All gooding is for the Dolph. That became an excuse
to at least have a party once a year. I
mean it was a nice reunion. Think for Oral, it's
pretty rare. Hey, you got a guy getting close. When's
he pitch again? He's got the padres damn it. I
mean they got through six and two thirds scoreless, right,
he gets through six and two thirds scud And that's

(25:20):
what John Palmer ROSI right now going, I am the
smartest man in the world. I'm the smart It was
funny he backed off the even number, like like he
was gonna be pulled after.

Speaker 3 (25:28):
Six and two thirds.

Speaker 1 (25:30):
I know, right, scoreless six and two thirds and get pulled.
But yeah, twenty outs then you get the double by France,
the hit by Merrill.

Speaker 3 (25:41):
I mean, what a hell of a run though.

Speaker 1 (25:42):
I mean when we talk about where pitching is, like
a lot of issues in the American League, a lot
of teams that are just flailing and not seeing a
whole lot. They're like Luke Skywalker with that helmet on
when he first got the training thing from from Obi
Wan and he's just kind of flailing and he's getting
shot in the ass by the little zap zap.

Speaker 5 (26:01):
No.

Speaker 1 (26:01):
No, that's kind of the the American League as all
but National League. We've got five or six pitchers who'd
just been ridiculously good, and Sanchez right at the front
of them. I mean really, I mean I I I
when I saw that, I said, there's no way there's
I mean John Palmer, I mean really, this is where
like you think he might be the Arian Foster of
Major League Baseball. I I might have that might all
the notes he I mean, really, we're gonna pull this.

(26:23):
You're gonna hear it it's insane. Does he have the Almanac?

Speaker 3 (26:25):
I don't know. You think he's got the Back to
the Future.

Speaker 1 (26:28):
We're gonna we're gonna play that audio people. Oh you
just you just did that before the show. You no
trust me.

Speaker 3 (26:32):
It's from last night. And he said it, and he said,
I can't get over because I remember he backed off.

Speaker 1 (26:36):
Yeah no, no, no, wait, wait wait, and we're like, Okay,
he's gonna go stronger, He's he gonna give a complete game.

Speaker 3 (26:43):
What's he gonna no? Six and two thirds?

Speaker 1 (26:46):
I mean, I, I mean, really, that's that's I mean,
you talk about hitting it right on the button. I
I don't know what to say. Hey, maddingly, maybe you
should have listened to John Palmer. Ups you got that
second out, he's out. I gotta pull you. John Paul said,
you're getting through six and two thirds. That last out
might be the toughest one.

Speaker 3 (27:07):
The toughest down. Good I was saying, the toughest down
is that no hitter and whatever else.

Speaker 1 (27:12):
I can't I can't get over that. When I saw
them say, I said, you've got to be kidding me.
You gotta be kid that that he that he's that right,
not from seven innings to six, from seven, five, from
seven to six and two thirds and six and two
thirds scoreless, and then the next two batters double single,
like I don't I don't understand again, and it was
right on his overall.

Speaker 3 (27:33):
Yeah, really nineteen and a half.

Speaker 1 (27:36):
If we didn't have the pesky thing called the NBA
Finals tonight, but I would have John paulm Rossi on
again and give me some other things, man, give me
some other predictions for the week ahead. Yeah, we've got
a seventy six seventy six game after three.

Speaker 3 (27:47):
We've also got the Dodgers five to zero lead.

Speaker 1 (27:49):
Why is it significant to shoe Hao Tani is running
that e R down back towards zero as well? Yeah,
sho Hao Tani, who just threw a fastball behind for
Z right over his head in the to hit the bat?

Speaker 3 (28:03):
You think so? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (28:04):
I think it was like a carnival game, you know,
because because he thought he was gonna leave his bat
up there. I believe that because I think Otani is
just so talented. He gets really bored, and it's like,
what can I do to challenge myself. I'm gonna steal
fifty bases. I'm gonna win the cy Young, I'm gonna hit.
I'm gonna go fat, I'm gonna go I'm gonna try
to hit the bat and get a strike.

Speaker 3 (28:19):
That's what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna find out.

Speaker 1 (28:20):
I'm gonna have what looks to be a really big
scandal swept away.

Speaker 3 (28:24):
Whoa whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa whoa. That was That was
two years ago. Man, this is tonight. Come on, I was.

Speaker 1 (28:29):
I'm talking about the full Wikipedia. There was no investigation
in any sports two years of sports investigation has ever
gone faster it was done?

Speaker 3 (28:37):
Well here it was two terio.

Speaker 1 (28:40):
Uh oh did they do a bibblehead for that? Uh well,
what would the bibblehead bait? Like like e Bay with
like a betting slip in his head on the phone,
You'd have fifty thousand people lined up waiting on it.
U Otani's era right now is down too point seven
eight scoreless through two and two thirds against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Speaker 3 (29:00):
Also no hit so far for the time.

Speaker 1 (29:04):
How to find out what's trending in the wide world
of sports from someone who's been called the show, Hey
o Tani of Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (29:11):
She can do it all, and she likes talk about
betting allegedly.

Speaker 7 (29:16):
H it's stop, I have it interpreter for that.

Speaker 3 (29:21):
Oh you do, I do? Oh okay, I didn't know that.
I gotta have a fault gun nothing.

Speaker 9 (29:26):
Of course, So I don't. I don't do the direct betting,
but someone does it for me.

Speaker 3 (29:29):
Oh okay, that's good.

Speaker 7 (29:30):
Yeah, because that's how.

Speaker 1 (29:34):
When you lose, does that person is it their money
that you lose? And when you win it's your money.

Speaker 9 (29:39):
That you know, you get it, you get it.

Speaker 3 (29:40):
That's a smart gambler.

Speaker 1 (29:42):
That's how.

Speaker 3 (29:42):
That's like the best way to get. When I lose,
it's other people's money. When I win, it's my money.

Speaker 1 (29:47):
That's general household expended you to your money, our money,
and how that kind.

Speaker 7 (29:51):
Of like that exactly the same thing at home. Sure,
his money is our money, My money is my money.

Speaker 9 (30:00):
That's thirteen years later.

Speaker 3 (30:04):
Okay, your money is your money.

Speaker 9 (30:06):
Correct?

Speaker 3 (30:07):
His money is your money?

Speaker 9 (30:09):
Correct?

Speaker 3 (30:09):
Okay?

Speaker 9 (30:10):
Correct?

Speaker 1 (30:10):
All right, yeah, so far you want to know? Okay,
So my aunt and uncle, I love him to death.
I'll tell this story.

Speaker 3 (30:17):
Why not.

Speaker 1 (30:17):
So my uncle he used to be a bartender before
he became a fireman, and he would make like new
York bartenders. When people know you the money you make
bartending is insane. He would make so much money, and
he would come home, like on a Friday or Saturday night,
and he would have money sticking out of his wallet
like crazy. And and for years my aunt said, I

(30:39):
always went when he would come home at night and
he would throw his wallet down. He would know much money,
she goes, I would take I always take half out
and put it.

Speaker 3 (30:47):
In the bank.

Speaker 1 (30:48):
And he didn't know for years were actually a slush
and he was like, wow, we have all this money,
she goes, Yeah, I would I would take half of
the money.

Speaker 3 (30:54):
Because he would like, when.

Speaker 1 (30:55):
You walk in with a bunch of singles, five tns
whatever or however you get cash out.

Speaker 3 (31:00):
Was such a popular mike. My uncle like he was
such a like.

Speaker 1 (31:02):
Friends would walk in and go, hey, Jimmy, you're here,
and they would just give him ten dollars for no reason.

Speaker 9 (31:07):
Oh there's a reason.

Speaker 3 (31:09):
Oh well yeah, for sure.

Speaker 1 (31:11):
Exactly no, but it's not it's sound like they'd even
gotten anything yet. Oh here here's ten dollars. Okay, great,
all right, awesome, thank you. I mean, so she did
that for a long time. It was like yeah, just
like and he didn't he didn't know. He's like, yeah,
I didn't know that. She was like, he was so happy.
Then he's like, we have all this money. I didn't
know you were doing that. Yeah, I keept putting this
all away.

Speaker 3 (31:31):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (31:31):
So he found out years later. Though years later he
found out.

Speaker 1 (31:34):
He thought he kind of knew, but what but everything
was going well, So say anything, finally talking.

Speaker 9 (31:40):
Right, I fixed something that's not broken. Yeah, no, exactly exactly.
The New York.

Speaker 7 (31:45):
Makes of taking the lead from the Spurs seventy eight
to seventy seven is the score. The Spurs took a
double digit lead halfway through the third quarter, but they
ended the third quarter tied at seventy six.

Speaker 9 (31:57):
So this is the first lead for New York in
a hot second.

Speaker 7 (32:00):
Carl Anthony Towns having his way on the floor when
Wemby is on the bench. He's got eighteen points and
ten rebounds. Jaylen Brunson seven of twenty two from the field,
one of eight from beyond the arc, seventeen points. When
it comes to the Spurs Victor win Banyama, he has
sixteen points. He's three of thirteen from the field, one
of six from beyond the arc, and he also has

(32:21):
six rebounds. Julian Champenni five three pointers in the first half,
did not hit one in the third quarter. He's got
fifteen points and eight rebounds. There is no Stanley Cup
Finals tonight, but Game two is on Thursday tomorrow between
the Golden Knights and the Hurricanes, where Las Vegas leads
the series one zero. When it comes to the NFL,
the Steelers and tight end and tight end are Nell
Washington of Recian agreement on a four year, forty two

(32:42):
million dollar extension. Also, Packers linebacker Michael Parsons is not
going to be available at the start of the season
because of that torn acl and damage meniscus could but
he could be back in action by mid October. He
told the media today that he has four months left
on his rehab. Chicago Bear's quarterback Kaya Williams will grace
the cover of Madden twenty seven, and Russell Wilson announced
his retirement from the NFL after fourteen seasons. All right,

(33:04):
in the world of baseball, the A's and the Cubs
are now tied at four. It's the top of the
ninth In Chicago. The Pirates lead the Astros five to three,
top of the seventh inning, Angels blanking the Rocky six
to zero. Top of the fourth, Dodgers blanking the Diamondbacks
five zero, top of the fourth.

Speaker 9 (33:19):
Kyle Tucker with a two run home run. First one
since June, no since May fourth. May the fourth be
with you?

Speaker 3 (33:25):
Oh so star Wars fan, star Wars. I'll hit one
in the month. I'm good. That's one of the month. Yeah.

Speaker 9 (33:32):
Yeah, so at least he's back in action.

Speaker 3 (33:34):
Contract's been worth it.

Speaker 9 (33:35):
Yeah, that's good. Stop, I know, stop, but he knew
what he was doing. I gotta do anything. I get
to go join the Bayers. Sure, I gotta do anything.

Speaker 3 (33:43):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (33:44):
I'm going to be number seven, expected to do things
on this.

Speaker 3 (33:46):
Rock and I'm the highest paid player in the game.

Speaker 9 (33:49):
I'm telling you, is it fair?

Speaker 2 (33:50):
No?

Speaker 9 (33:50):
But life is unfair.

Speaker 3 (33:52):
Hey, you are right about that.

Speaker 9 (33:53):
Life is unfair.

Speaker 1 (33:55):
Eighty six eighty one. The Knicks have taken a five
point lead over the Spurs. We're coming up on the
eight minute time out. The Knicks have clawed back into this.

Speaker 3 (34:05):
Look.

Speaker 1 (34:06):
Like we've talked about the Knicks, We're gonna have to
stay close and hope to wear the Spurs down, they
will be tired in the fourth quarter. So far, that
is what has been happening. Og Anunobi with a big
three for the five point lead for the Knicks. We
got more NBA on the way, but straight ahead. Oh boy.
In theory, you would say this is great news for
one Super Bowl hopeful, but maybe it's not.

Speaker 3 (34:31):
That's an next Jason to Mike Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (34:34):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.

Speaker 1 (34:42):
I hate that song. Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith
Show with my best friend Mike Harmon.

Speaker 3 (34:46):
Your selfish bastard. Seven minutes to go in the fourth quarter.

Speaker 1 (34:51):
The Knicks lead the Spurs eighty nine eighty six. Jalen
Brunston at the free throw line. Now for the New
York Knicks, who have come back big stat They just
showed in this game. Wemby tonight with Karl Anthony Towns
on him as the primary defender, is one of eight

(35:12):
with three turnovers. I was worried that Steph Castle is
gonna have Jalen Brunston in a blender. And again we've
talked about how great a game Karl Anthony Towns has
those numbers just blow you away that this is what
Cat's been able to do to Wemby offensively. Eighteen and
twelve for Carl Anthony Towns in terms of his offensive stats.

(35:32):
But that one's just quadruple underscore as we watched that
one float across the screen and we watched it right
talking about the intensity on both ends of the court
a little different because that's where.

Speaker 3 (35:44):
Historically you've been able to get after Cat.

Speaker 1 (35:46):
Is the lack of intensity and consistency defensively tonight, bringing
it wenby just four to fifteen from the field, nine
to ten from the free throw line, and a whole
one of six from three point range. Yes, one of
those was to close a a quarter buddy counts just
the same, A big steal by Jalen Brunson. He goes
coast to coast for the layup. Mitch Johnson gets a

(36:07):
time out because it's a six point Nick lead right
now with six minutes left to go in the fourth
Now is nobody knows how this is gonna go the
next few minutes, and I know how I'm gonna feel
if the Knicks lose. However, being honest, when I go,
I really feel that you might be having the worst
day if that happens, because today your quarterback Caleb Williams

(36:30):
was named to the cover of Madden. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (36:35):
Wait ahead, he had a good run. Well, I mean
it was the era of good feelings. Everything's okay, look
at it.

Speaker 4 (36:43):
Go.

Speaker 3 (36:44):
I mean the.

Speaker 1 (36:44):
Tops has the Tops Now card with the cover on.
I've been waiting to tell you he had a good
run all day. I've been waiting to wait all day, going, oh, yeah, he.

Speaker 3 (36:53):
Had a good run.

Speaker 1 (36:54):
What's funny is I've had a couple of days to
kind of swallow this one because it was rumored over
the weekend that this was gonna be the case formally
announced today, including the cover art and everything else.

Speaker 3 (37:05):
And it's those really.

Speaker 1 (37:07):
Because you you think about the Madden curse and once
upon a time it was really the biggest thing in
the world.

Speaker 3 (37:13):
Oh yeah, sure.

Speaker 1 (37:13):
Now even if you take recent history, like guys make
the playoffs, but nobody's gone over it. Last year, Saquon
Barkley kind of a down year, coming coming off the
year he had the year before. You had mahomes on
a couple.

Speaker 3 (37:25):
Of times in Kekay He's fine, you know.

Speaker 1 (37:28):
But yeah, I mean, yeah, I mean the salad days
of it, but still has risen up to bite because
you know, look at the Eagles not going as far
last year. Barkley did not have the same kind of
year he had. So now now you got Keleb Williams
on there, Iceman, Iceman on the cover, I mean, it's
been better. Man, it's been better than the old Madden.
Remember the old old man. You were on there and
the guy.

Speaker 3 (37:47):
We ripped his knee and like we said, oh yeah, yeah,
we had a lot of those guys.

Speaker 1 (37:51):
Like so the curse is still there, but it's not
to the same level.

Speaker 3 (37:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (37:56):
But but certainly, I know in Chicago between this and
all the mealy mouthed politicians getting out there and saying
stupid things about the whole stadium boondoggle. See, but that's
what you that's the whole thing. Like the Madden curse
may have been okay, like the Kraken like finally getting released.
Like we're not coming for Caleb Williams, We're coming for
the entire state of Illinois because it's gonna be the

(38:18):
Northwest Indiana Bears. Like you talk about if the curse,
if Caleb Williams has a bad year, and the Bears
move like they might they might have to just go
with like John Madden's picture on the cover.

Speaker 3 (38:30):
No one's ever gonna do it again. So you's like
the is that your ship over there?

Speaker 1 (38:34):
And you start hearing that creaking and then it implodes
because the cracket has found its way.

Speaker 3 (38:39):
Yeah, yeah, that's that's kind of where we're at.

Speaker 1 (38:41):
But yeah, that whole stadium thing, I could do four
hours on that move.

Speaker 3 (38:48):
It was so bad.

Speaker 1 (38:49):
Whole city left that they changed their change, their whole
color scheme. They lost their identity. Ah, they all they
all have they're all dressed like Indiana. Now, they all
on the name one name on the back. It's just Mendoza.
Everybody's name is just Mendoza on the back.

Speaker 3 (39:04):
That's just a giant picture of Leslie.

Speaker 1 (39:06):
Nope, you had a good and then Ronolf dude, you
had a good run.

Speaker 3 (39:09):
You had Caleb Williams had a great.

Speaker 1 (39:11):
Now it's over now now the Bears now man well,
hey listen, maybe a tank for arch Manning. Maybe maybe
that'll happen for you.

Speaker 3 (39:20):
No, the great that's when we've gone. That fire.

Speaker 1 (39:22):
Sorry, nick off from it. I took half of his
character nobody. Yeah, but I mean, really he had a
good run. No. I when I saw the images and
then I liked it right over.

Speaker 3 (39:34):
You know, our guy Bo Benson sends that to me.
The g as well, here it is.

Speaker 1 (39:38):
You know, it looks great and it's a great wall
look at wallpaper. And I'm like, yeah, but but this
means bad things man generally generally speaking of course, but yeah,
and uh, frust frustrations in Chicago going.

Speaker 3 (39:52):
We didn't need this voodoo on us. We didn't need
this chaos. Yeah, i'd speaking of chaos.

Speaker 1 (39:57):
I don't want to you know, we're talking about this
A guy I just ran on the court, uh, in
the in the Spurs Knicks game, and they security looked
like security ran and pulled them off the court really fast.
And I don't know we're gonna get a replay on this,
but like the the Spurs had the ball in the
front court and a fan looked like a fan ran

(40:19):
onto the court and ran into the key and and
I think security grabbed him and pulled him off. And
now there's a big time out on the floor and
they're wondering what the hell happened. A fan has just
run on the court. I believe that's what I mean,
because I looked up and I saw two guys coming
off and yeah, here it is right here, this get this.
I don't know who it is. Somebody just to take

(40:39):
a selfie.

Speaker 3 (40:39):
Yeah that's what he did.

Speaker 1 (40:40):
And he gets grabbed by security and he's being and
he's being taken off the court. That's exactly what happens.
So now time out on the floor. Believe they're gonna
jump it up it at at center court, like wow,
this is crazy.

Speaker 3 (40:53):
