Speaker 1 (00:30):

(00:52):
is the way tire buying should be. Well, boy, I
tell you this NBA playoff stress. I don't know why
so many people. I mean the stress that goes on
like every day. I'm like, people are nervous.
Speaker 3 (01:04):
You've regrown some hair, lost another five pounds. Me, life's
been good for you. It's it's the good way because
you're not stress eating now are you just chilling and
hanging out celebrating. I mean, although you had to feel
bad for Karl Anthony Towns as he lost out on
that really cool Randy Orton WrestleMania patch.
Speaker 1 (01:26):
That was pretty good. There's your nick news of the
day right there. Yeah, Karl Anthony Town's nearly won that
Randy Orton.
Speaker 3 (01:31):
He had some time because he didn't have to practice
quite as hard because they're sitting on their asses for
a bit. So he was live bidding a big wrestling
card that had a patch from last year's WrestleMania, and
he lost, and and that made national news.
Speaker 4 (01:44):
That was good.
Speaker 1 (01:44):
Now, Frostburg, how about you? Are you feeling stressed?
Speaker 4 (01:47):
Not even a little dude? Real getting Luke about for
game five?
Speaker 1 (01:51):
Oh, he has been cleared. We are good.
Speaker 3 (01:54):
God, it's good. I mean, he said a lot of
a lot of great things going. Release the MRI. I
think that was the summary statement after Luca finished talking
to the media yesterday. It's like there's things on the MRI.
It's like, release the MRI again. Don't don't release the MRI.
I go to Spain, man, don't go to Spain. I
told we told you Spain is bad. You want to
(02:15):
get well, don't go to Spain. According to the interwebs, though,
it tells me that it's a burgeoning plays for all
sorts of medical procedures where you can save money but
also get effective treatment. Okay, I would say it didn't.
To the contrary, good old Luca Dutch, All right, there
we go.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
He looked good on the front road.
Speaker 3 (02:34):
He did no, he looked like and when he did
that travel move, it was like straight out of a
seventies disco.
Speaker 1 (02:39):
If you want to go to Spain and and and
then come back and look okay, great, But if you
look great, if you want to come back from Spain
and play basketball.
Speaker 4 (02:47):
You know how many points he's gonna drop in Game five? Dude,
I think they can. He's gonna look back.
Speaker 1 (02:51):
I listen.
Speaker 3 (02:53):
I don't think the thunder are gonna win another game
this series. Yeah, but here's the question, rest Or, rust, Frostburg.
Speaker 4 (03:00):
Or russ On, none of the above. Oh, we got
more of.
Speaker 1 (03:03):
The Lakers and the day after the post mortem for
them coming up in a few minutes. But right now,
we are nearing the end of the third quarter and
San Antonio is thumping Minnesota right now, ninety to seventy three. Yeah,
escal quick game. Look, Wemby doing most of his damage
in the first quarter, but the night he is having
tonight twenty four points, fourteen rebounds, four assists, two blocks,
(03:30):
most of his damage in the first quarter when they
got out to a big lead. But oh he was
well rested after getting ejected. Yeah, you got Johnson off
the bench for sixteen, right, Fox has fourteen Castle with thirteen.
This has been a This has been a typical San
Antonio Spurs basketball game. And you look, we're going to
the fourth quarter at ninety one seventy three. It looks
like it's gonna be a Spurs three to two lead
going back to Minnesota. But the thing is watching Wemby
(03:53):
and and I'm I'm ready to fully take the blame
for Wemby getting suspended because what did I say, Hey,
I like the pissed went right, Like then the pisted
Wemby comes back, Okay, man, Yeah, he's got he's got
an edge to him. Well, he got an edge and
he got kicked out, So I'll wear that that was
on me.
Speaker 3 (04:07):
But like, oh, I mean it only cost him the
rest of that game because the NBA didn't bother to,
you know, adjudicate things with any level of excitement. I mean, again,
we talked about it yesterday of hey, if he'd actually
thrown that elbow with about a minute left in the
first half or on the other side of the break,
he said, yeah, is it? Is it a different animal.
And I still question whether Adam Silver would have had
(04:29):
the stones to suspend him. But here he is coming
out like a house of fire. Adam Silver would have said, please, no,
make it not the first minute of the third quarter.
That's half the game. But kind of it's in the
first half and they lost. I could get away with
not suspending him, but now I can't because it's the
third quarter. But had he played more than fourteen or
fifteen minutes, because he averages twenty nine minutes a game,
I mean.
Speaker 1 (04:48):
Once you get past that, is that the threshold? I
mean I don't know, but I mean forget about stats,
forget about numbers. You know, you get inundated with them
all the time. It's again, we've talked about this. This
is the year that Victor wembin Yama becomes the best
player in the NBA and all you have to do
is watch him just just for like three offensive sets
(05:09):
and you just say, what am I supposed to do
with that? Defensively, how am I supposed to do anything?
I mean, sometimes I go, I don't know how the
Spurs lose a game when Wemby can back somebody down
and then everybody draws, they kick it to they kick
it to a guy that's open for a three. The
defense just just frantically tries to close. Wemby comes back
(05:29):
out behind a three point line, gets it and of
course hits it over whoever it's on him defensively, and
you go, what are.
Speaker 4 (05:35):
You supposed to do with that? I mean, what are
you supposed to do with that?
Speaker 1 (05:38):
The guy? I mean, really his skill level, like we
talk about Yan as well, we never saw someone like Giannis. Yeah,
Wemby makes Giannis look like a shooting guard. That yeahs
a guy who's gonna score twenty a game like that.
That's that's what Wemby has done. And that's where we're
at right now, where it's that switch is getting Flipper
going yep, yep. Now you know who the best player
in the NBA. Oh, we know he's the most watchable.
Whether he's the best or not, we can still always
(06:00):
have that fight, right because he an't win an MVP
Hendry Shammit may be the most watchable player in the NBA.
Speaker 3 (06:05):
Well, I think Dylan Brooks because you were waiting for
him to come off the front row and create a
w DWE like event last night.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
But you know, Sga still has his his.
Speaker 3 (06:17):
Hand up going. Even when I'm not having a good game,
I can still make things happen. And we've seen Webbin
Yama at times where the offensive game has had an
issue and then certainly you get yourself thrown out defending yourself.
As as his coach, nothing happened to his coach for
saying that, basically saying, yeah, take the guy out at
(06:39):
the neck.
Speaker 4 (06:39):
Okay, that's fine.
Speaker 3 (06:41):
But watching this game, I mean that dominated the points
in the paint came out obviously still ticked off man,
Like I told you as we were waiting to come
on air. It's like if I were with the t Wolves,
I would have been bodying him up every every chance
I got, at least early on to see if you
can do it again, much like they took Yokic off
his game and first series. But when he's on and
(07:03):
this thing's cooking, and you talk about the youthful squad
that's around him, right, Kellen Johnson's been in in the
league a minute, sixth man and making hay over time
and having a big game here that they're just getting started,
Like that's the fun thing. But you know, we wait
on the matchup against the Thunder, assuming they finished this
(07:26):
series off, and seeing when Ben Yamba take that next
step and everybody getting to see him, because that was
one of the keys as.
Speaker 1 (07:33):
We were like, hey, what channel is it on? Is
it on Peacock?
Speaker 5 (07:36):
No?
Speaker 1 (07:36):
No, no, it's actually on local NBC.
Speaker 3 (07:39):
It's actually on the big network, So people get to
see Victor at work today.
Speaker 1 (07:44):
So we'll have more on this game. Again, we're just
starting the fourth quarter. Spurs te Wolves t Wolves ending
the third quarter on a thirty to twelve run, so again,
barring a big collapse, looks like they'll be up three
to two going to Game six. Meanwhile, today has been
a big day for Lebron James and I cannot believe,
Like I love my media breathren some of them, but
(08:06):
when I see the overwhelming the overwhelming story being is
Lebron's era with the Lakers a success or a failure?
And I want to say, Okay, there's a time for
that conversation, But do you really think he's not coming
back next year? Where the hell else is the guy
gonna go? I mean, we talked about it last night.
He has shown I can assimilate. I'm okay being the
(08:27):
number three guy. I'm okay filling a lot of different roles.
You saw the way the team was playing when it
was the big three there and Luca was healthy the
last twenty five games of the season. Yes, you're gonna
lose to the thunder when you don't have Luka Doncic
to one of the top three players in the NBA,
it's going to happen. But all of a sudden ago
the Lebron era is over. I mean, where else is
he going to go? I mean where else is he going?
At this point in Cleveland may say, yeah, you think
(08:50):
we're pretty good without you. We're two two with the Pistons,
We're feeling pretty good. Where else is he going to go? Now?
Unless he does something crazy like demand fifty million dollars,
the Lakers are gonna say, okay, well then you're gonna go.
But like, as long as he is okay with taking
a little bit less money so they can improve their roster,
because you heard some of the comments today coming off
of the Lakers moratorium, at one unnamed player saying, we
(09:10):
just don't have the overall talent. As long as the
Lakers have money to go out and get the couple
of players, they need a three and D player, another
guy to run up and down the floor, another big
Like the Lakers will be a championship team next year
and Lebron is coming back, He's not gonna go throw
cast in his lot with another team that maybe he
doesn't know how they're gonna play, or maybe they're a contender,
maybe they're not the only other place he can go
(09:31):
is home. The only other place he can go, and
if he doesn't win, put a cherry on top of
his NBA careers Cleveland and I don't know that that's
a mix for either of them. At this point, he's
shown that as much as I don't like being the
number three guy, I'm okay with that. At this point,
I can still shine. He still was enough to single
handedly get the Lakers past the Rockets. Like, I don't know,
how do people think? Why do people think it's over?
(09:52):
The Lebron era is gonna continue for at least another year.
Speaker 3 (09:55):
In La Jason, the show is today, Okay, the column
is today. The season ended last night, which means let's
evaluated for what it is right now.
Speaker 1 (10:06):
That's all they're doing because then they get to do it.
Speaker 3 (10:08):
It's like when you're saying, hey, this guy should retire,
and he comes back the next year and plays well,
then he's too old and he should retire. We've done
it with Lebron, We've done it with so many other
guys across our sporting universe. And you know which members
of our sports brethren have done that, Like you get
you have to say it when the day is up
and the season finishes. That all right, let's evaluate so
(10:29):
many things to say. Why are we saying it's the
end of the okay?
Speaker 1 (10:32):
Really do you know? Do you know that he's not
coming back? Like I like, I've not heard any of that,
Like if you have that, that'd be awesome, like I'd
love to hear.
Speaker 3 (10:39):
So No, no, no, I'm not breaking that news. This
is all just a theoretical what do we got after
X number of years? Because you had all the data
now you just needed to add the final data from
this box score and you were done, right, it was
a nice, easy column, it was a nice two minute
video clip or thirty second appearance on the Sports This Morning.
Speaker 1 (11:01):
It's that's all it is. It's an easy conversation, uh.
Speaker 3 (11:04):
In the the bigger part is what's next, and you're
trying to evaluate that because really the only place that
it makes complete sense is, as you say, stay in
Los Angeles and they've got a lot of decisions, and
we chronicled it last night. You can go to the
full podcast for all of that, but just to put
it in in as succinct terms, You've got Hachimura, you
(11:25):
got Canard, you got Austin Reeves, you got a lot
of guys. You got to figure out what the hell
you're doing with them in terms of reconstituting this roster.
And from Lebron James, he's got to look inward. And
it's easy to say, hey, he accepted being the third guy.
Problem is he didn't have to do that very often
because these guys weren't in the lineup right. He had
to be the guy, so all of a sudden he
(11:46):
got to put on the cape, put on the crown,
and say, hey, I'm the gig.
Speaker 1 (11:49):
You still have to bow to my knee because none
of these guys are available to play. That guy's in
a sweater while you're that guy's so mad, You're angry?
Speaker 4 (11:57):
Why are you so mass man?
Speaker 1 (11:58):
Why are you so mad? I was just in person day.
Speaker 3 (12:03):
I'm still in charge here next year if those guys
are healthy, and what's to say that they are. If
those guys are healthy, is he suddenly happy in game
fifty five? If he's legitimately the third guy and really
has to accept that role? Because I know he mentioned
that in his postgame comments and he and he threw
that out there. It's like, look at me, I did
something I never had to do. JJ Reddick went and
stand for him his podcast Partner of Old Like, he
(12:25):
had a talking point that Lebron and Rich Paul gave him.
He don't forget really extole the virtues of how he
stepped up as the third guy for a very limited
about it.
Speaker 1 (12:36):
But here's the thing. Lebron doesn't like to lose, and
he knows that losing is the worst thing because that's
what he's gonna get blamed for. If it's a choice
between hey, I'm the third guy and I can pick
my moments and win or be the guy and lose.
I'm gonna win because I'm not jas losing as a thing?
Speaker 4 (12:51):
What do you who hurt you?
Speaker 1 (12:53):
What did I say?
Speaker 4 (12:53):
What do you mean to hurt? Woke up and shows
violence today?
Speaker 6 (12:56):
Len?
Speaker 4 (12:56):
What are you talking about?
Speaker 7 (12:57):
What's your problem? To quote the great Lucius Washington, don't
put that evil on.
Speaker 1 (13:06):
You may have to put up with. You may have
your problem.
Speaker 3 (13:10):
Now send me to the Knicks. Maybe he's part of
that Steve Kerr rebuilding Warriors squad at a smaller rate. No,
he gets to hang out with Draymond Green.
Speaker 1 (13:21):
That would be fun. Frostburg, You just wait for the
joint press conference where both Lebron and Browny and Bryce
all get signed to the same three year contracts.
Speaker 4 (13:30):
You just looking forward to the honest one myself.
Speaker 3 (13:33):
Wait, which which series does he announce that he's coming
back though, because it don't happen before the fire, I.
Speaker 1 (13:40):
Don't know where. There's no other place for him. There
is no other place, like it's a marriage of convenience.
The Lakers can play a little hard ball as long
as he's saying, hey, money, because he's not gonna get
that money from anywhere else. So it's not like, well,
if you don't give me somebody else's there's a lot
of dumb teams out there to put asses in seats. Hey,
he's just gonna go, but he's not gonna sign there.
(14:00):
It's not gonna sign. He's gonna go play in Sacramento.
If they even they could give him five hundred million dollars,
He's not going to play in Sacramento. He's coming back
to the Lakers. Kings. Come on, it's a perfect end.

Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Harmon got to play the Day coming your
way in a few minutes. But you want to know something,
I gotta tell you this. Tonight, the Mets brought up
their number two prospect, aj Ewitt. They did, yeah, one
fort Patrick, you're missing Frostberg. Just be quiet. Tell me
(17:20):
that joke that I just go because my whole thing
was gonna be. He's one for two three walks two
RBIs a stolen based two runs scored. The Mets win.
Tend to that's how hot the Knicks are.
Speaker 5 (17:34):
Tell all that the Mets suck.
Speaker 1 (17:37):
The Knicks are so hot. The Mets brought up a
guy named Ewing and he was great and they wont Yeah, no,
that's good.
Speaker 5 (17:45):
Yeah, here's like Hansel from the movie So Hot right now,
I have Hansel and Gretel No, no, what do you
mean you do? Remember that movie with Ben Slur with
all models. Oh Hansel Robles when he was the Yeah, yeah,
so hot right now? And Zulander to what is this
a museum for ants?
Speaker 1 (18:02):
Like I said, Hansel Tyer goes yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
yeah yeah, sure, sure, okay, I think with the guy
in the place. Yeah no, no, yeah, a little give
me a blue steel, look tight, she give me, give
me blue steel. Give me the blue steel.
Speaker 4 (18:15):
Oh very nice, it's not bad. Yeah yeah. Even on
the radio, people could tell that was.
Speaker 3 (18:20):
Smoke, and then they felt that straight down their Ethernet tables,
the Knicks, can you no wrong?
Speaker 1 (18:27):
Through the Wi Fi through the way. Look, I'm looking
see if the Mets have anybody in the minor league's
named Starks or Jackson or King or Anthony like and
bring any of these guys up, man, bring all these
guys out right now.
Speaker 7 (18:41):
Man, Yes, Jason is not planning to tell Pam you
looked at Alex outway.
Speaker 3 (18:47):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (18:48):
She knows, no, she knows, she knows. Yeah, no, She's
a big fan of Tison ever since the when they
put out the video the picture for we were advertising
for engineers and the picture from behind tysher made it
looked like he would the king of the uh the
entire Fox Sports.
Speaker 4 (19:02):
That was a good move look for him.
Speaker 3 (19:05):
That wasn't even yeah no, no, he looks great on
that picture that that's hanging up in the studio over
there too.
Speaker 1 (19:11):
My wife, you should put that on your Tinder page. Yeah,
put the tender yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
You know he looks like he looks like from behind
in mad Maxbury Road when when when Morton Joe is
overlooking all the people like, that's what the picture looks like.
It's ty shirt. And then like the overlord and then
the hosts are really tiny in the background, like we're
(19:31):
just sitting here with the microphones on.
Speaker 3 (19:34):
But the point was to try to elevate the role
to where he's the Grand Pooba. He is the Wizard
of Oz. Pay no attention to the man behind.
Speaker 1 (19:43):
The behind the curt exactly. See there, he is the
great and powerful. Yeah, I mean really, I mean, uh,
you have to, you have to. You have to start
looking in who just who are the guys in the
minor league system. Do they share a name with the Knicks?
Great if they do great, wonder even if you're Jared Jeffries, Yeah,
hey Jeffrey, Hey Greg Jefferies. You got a kid still
(20:05):
plays for the metsico in the Mets farm system. Guhead,
well let's do it. I mean, there's gotta be a
guy named Smith.
Speaker 2 (20:10):
I mean JR.
Speaker 1 (20:10):
Smith had some big moments. Yeah yeah yeah, yeah, yeah
yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah. See I mean we go Smith,
that's easy, Yeah yeah yeah yeah, No, I mean I
mean that's that. I mean, this is that the Knicks
can do nothing outside of Karl Anthony. Town's not getting
the bid on the Randy Yorton Wrestling That's tough. Yeah,
I mean that's a big loss.
Speaker 3 (20:27):
It is because Randy Yorton immediately went on to Twitter saying,
I got to get the guy the actual game you know,
event used gear.
Speaker 1 (20:34):
Now, Yeah, he wants to send him the boots and
the trunks and and.
Speaker 3 (20:37):
The wristbands and everything else to say, well, you got
the patch, so you got to complete the look for you.
Speaker 1 (20:41):
So, I mean that's a big win. That's a huge
card too.
Speaker 3 (20:45):
It eclipsed another big wrestling car to hul Cogan autograph,
one of one super fractor that went for forty K.
Speaker 1 (20:53):
About that. That is that's pretty that's knowledge that that
that's that is That's one to grow on right there,
that's one to grow.
Speaker 3 (20:58):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (20:59):
So we got more basketball on the way in a
few minutes, but big stuff out of Major League Baseball
all of a sudden. The Dodgers are in free fall
and everybody is nervous right now. They just started their
game against the Giants. Dodgers up won nothing batting in
the bottom of the first inning, So maybe things are
turning for them a little bit. But they've not been
(21:19):
good the last couple of weeks, losing the first two
games of San Francisco, they fall out of first place.
Shoeo Tani isn't like seventy five? What is going on?
Is it time to panic? Joining us now in the
hotline a man who is going through a very difficult
time right now, and I appreciate him joining us as
he just had to sit with his dad and watch
his hometown Detroit Tigers get absolutely worked by the Mets
(21:41):
and have to explain to his dad that Dad, sometimes
the Mets win games. It is MLB Network Insider Extraordinaire
John Paul Morosi, Pope, what's happening?
Speaker 9 (21:51):
Today's that day?
Speaker 3 (21:52):
To day?
Speaker 6 (21:53):
Is that day?
Speaker 9 (21:55):
As you know, all that is required for a New
York team in Orange and Blue is to promote a
young man by the name of Ewing. Yep, it works
well for the Knicks for a long time, and now
here comes aj Ewing and the Mets look like they're
unbeatable in the Ewing administration. So I send my sincerious
(22:15):
congratulations to you. It took David Stearns until May the
twelfth to actually make the move, and I suspect he
may wonder why he did not make that move sooner.
Speaker 1 (22:27):
Well, they got to wait till the Knicks got really hot.
They didn't get really hot until the last ten days,
So I think it's actually a very prudent move. Now
you've got to look for Starks and Oakley and got
you know, these the guys you got to bring up.
Speaker 9 (22:38):
That's right, that's right. Hey, the Knicks are looking good.
And now I'm all of a sudden a little concerned
about us. The Pistons are going to be able to
meet them in the next round after the way the
last couple of games, when I thought the Pistons had
a really good shot at Game three, and now we
got ourselves a series there between the Pistons and the Cavs.
Speaker 1 (22:55):
All right, so before we get your prediction for the
final three games of that series, the Dodgers again winning
tonight so far against the Giants, so the game is
starting out well. But they have not been good. They
have lost a lot of games, they've fallen out of
first place. All these things. If what scale of one
to ten, If one is not at all everything is fine,
and ten is hey, they got some serious issues. Where
(23:18):
are you on the scale of concern for the Dodgers?
Speaker 3 (23:22):
I am.
Speaker 9 (23:23):
I am not terribly concerned. I'm a little bit south
of My concern is there, but it's not quite to
fifty percent. I'm gonna give it a four on the
level of ten being complete, panic one being all is perfect.
They're probably at about a four. And the reason I
say that is first of all, that they're still in
(23:45):
a playoff position as we speak right now. In terms
of the way they've played this season, You're right, no
longer in first place, they're not an offensive juggernaut, and
yet their pitching has been stable enough it will likely
get better and show Freddie Mookie they're not gonna play
like this for the whole season. It's You're right, it's
(24:05):
It is, though, a little bit jarring when you look
at their lineup and you see the average is just
not at all lining up to what you've come to
expect from this team. Two thirty eight for Otani, one
to seventy six for Bets, to seventy seven for Freddy,
which is not common. Tucker, by the way, it's amazing
how we really haven't talked that much about him this year.
(24:27):
He's had just such a a a mediocre start. I mean,
there's you look at his overall numbers, four homers, seven
thirty nine ops a two point fifty average on base
thirty four percent of the time. There's a lot of
outfielders that can do that. That's not really one of
the richest contracts in the history of the game that
you'd expect based on those numbers. So I think Tucker
(24:50):
is at least as surprising in a negative way as
anyone else on this roster. So uh, it's again, these
are all reasons to be a little worried, but I'm
not panicked. This remains a team that is in the
top five of Major League Baseball in both runs scored
and runs allowed, so they're still by and large doing
(25:12):
the things that elite teams do in aggregate, even though
the individual numbers just don't seem to add up. And
Otani's not often hitting on days that he pitches any longer,
so they just look a little bit less special than
they did a year ago. But they're still pretty good
baseball team.
Speaker 3 (25:28):
Well, it's the beauty of if you're Tucker you come
into the Dodgers, everybody's going to be looking at other
big names, right Sasaki and his struggles, although he's pitched
better last couple times out, but certainly everything with Otani
magnified to the umpteenth degree, will allow you to just
kind of hide in the background a little bit.
Speaker 9 (25:45):
Well, that's right, And you think about it, if Tucker
had signed with a number of other teams that have
maybe struggled to this point, or hypothetically if he ends
up signing that mega deal with the Cubs, and if
they were having a bit of a home starter, if
he can signed with the Mets, for example, or or
the Blue Jays. And and I notice how I just
(26:06):
led the Mets in there.
Speaker 1 (26:07):
I made it.
Speaker 9 (26:08):
I made a Mets sandwich, Jason. I just put the
Mets right in there.
Speaker 1 (26:11):
But if if that's where that's good, force feed to
your dad, Force feed that doubt his throat as ten
to two tonight.
Speaker 9 (26:18):
Yeah, yeah, I know, I got to talk a bit
about that. But but you're you're right, by the way,
this is what we're having this conversation at exactly the
right time. Justin basically said, you know what, Morosi, Uh,
Jason wants to move up a little bit earlier than
usual for this conversation on Tuesday. And I'm like, well,
why why is that? It's because he wants it to
be like a live a live narration of the Mets
(26:42):
dominance over the Tigers, that he wants it all happen
in real time. That was what I what I concluded here.
But be that as it may. It's a family show
where a family and so happy to do it. But
but I say that because Tucker is a little bit
he is he's a little bit insulated from the criticism
and right, wrong and different. That's just the reality right now.
(27:02):
I would imagine that Boba Schet's probably hearing a bit
more than than Tucker is right now. Any number of
other players that have changed addresses might be as well.
It's just the Dodgers and the number of superstars there
does tend to insulate a player from criticism a little
bit because there are just so many different players to
talk about in Dodger Blue.
Speaker 3 (27:23):
All right, let me follow. Let's go to the AL
in the Al East Tampa Bay. Twenty six is the
run down or twenty three is the run differential?
Speaker 4 (27:31):
Right now?
Speaker 1 (27:31):
Nine to one in their last ten? Are they for real?
Speaker 3 (27:34):
Or is this something where the law of averages gets them?
Can they win this many close games?
Speaker 9 (27:39):
The Rays are for real. They've got really good pitching
and they they have the kind of team that wins
close games. They've got a really good bullpen. It may
not be guys that we know by name all that often,
but Baker's been good closing games out Sulcer as well.
Hunter Bickie is an amazing story. Remember he was hit
by a fall ball in the last year in the
(28:01):
dugout and it ended his year. That happened in the
middle of the season and they missed the rest of
the year, and so to see him back and having
a really good season at two point four five ERA
just really nice story to see. The healthy return of
McLanahan changes the whole calculus of that team. Martinez has
been really good. Rasmussen is having one of his better
(28:21):
years too, So they have enough depth, I believe, to
then transition someone like a Griffin Jackson to a starting
role if they need him to be. They're just really good.
And then I think on the opposite side of things,
offensively around a leading the league in RBI, Simpson got
three triples already, He's on base a bunch and with
what he's able to do, so I just I think
(28:43):
they're a hard team to play against. They've gotten back
to the DNA, they had when they were really good
in the Madden years and early in the Kevin Cashiers,
which was they did little things well and they could
run the bases. They had a good bullpen, they had
a bunch of pitchers that could throw change up. It's
it's a fun team to watch play, and I believe
(29:04):
when you look at this group, they're gonna be a
force for the full season. And I think this is
why the Rays and the Yankees together. That's why it
seems like the Red Sox the Blue Jays, I don't
see them coming back in that division because the teams
at the top are good in a very sustainable way.
Speaker 1 (29:26):
He's on Twitter, John Paul Morosi. That is at He's
on Twitter at John Morosi. It is the Pope, John
Paul Morosi. All right, so before we let you go,
the Pistons Cavs series is to too knowing the Knicks
are awaiting the winner, John Paul.
Speaker 9 (29:42):
What happens Pistons in seven? And my goodes is what
I what I love? What I love the chance that
you know the Pistons next series we would be doing.
We do these conversations every game if that was the case.
By the way, the biggest thing too, is we've got
while the Tigers go through this difficult stretch and Schoobl's
(30:04):
heard and they're getting just completely dominated by the Mets. Tonight,
the least being able to talk about Cad a little
bit happier now. I mean, yes, Donovan Mitchell, who of course,
as you know as the Mets connection of his own,
having a great series too. But I just think that
the way that Kate has played leads me to believe
that he is going to be someone they can rely on.
I don't lavert with what he was able to add
(30:26):
in offensive League Game four, says he can be trusted
going forward. I think Harris is still someone they can
go to in a big spot. So, yes, Harden is
there and a veteran two. This should be a fun series.
It's already been a fun series that goes seven. The
Pistons win it in seven games and then take on
your New York Knickerbockers for the final bid there in
(30:47):
the in the Eastern Conference Final, and I cannot wait.
Speaker 4 (30:49):
For that again.
Speaker 1 (30:51):
He's on Twitter at John Morossi, MLB Network insider, extraordinary
and a man who both he and his dad will
go drown their sorrows and the Tigers last night with
late night call at Bob Evans.
Speaker 4 (31:01):
John Paul, as always appreciated. My friend, will talk to
you next week.
Speaker 9 (31:04):
I've already had my vice for the evening, which is
which is? Which is a little bit of almond milk
cereal at about nine thirty. You can tell man, I
am a I am just a I'm a madman when
it comes to the late nights almond milk cereal. It's
a delicacy.
Speaker 1 (31:21):
We're gonna party one night, John Paul, You and I.
Speaker 4 (31:24):
I can't wait. I can't wait.
Speaker 1 (31:29):
That's awesome.
Speaker 4 (31:30):
I'm so mad the tires getting killed. Pour me some
almond milk.
Speaker 1 (31:34):
You going almond milk, give me the give me the
full sweetened version. But you've never had that this lead before.
It's nine o'clock at night. Just pour me Rice Jackson,
put the almond milk in it, and then leave the room.
Speaker 4 (31:44):
Okay, okay, okay, okay.
Speaker 1 (31:48):
Time now to find out what's training in the wild
the sports from special Delivery Steve de Sager, who is
taking a big sigh relief, and for the first time
in three weeks, the Dodgers lead in a baseball.
Speaker 10 (31:59):
Game, starting out as the Dhotani singleed scored on a
sack fly in the first inning, and it has won
nothing LA over rival San Francisco, bottom of the second
Otani apparently will not be batting the next couple of days,
and yes, he has been slumping. Even the hit brings
the average up to two thirty eight. As for the
(32:20):
NBA playoffs, we're under two minutes to go at San
Antonio's First, ready to go up three games to two
in their second round series. They are leading Minnesota tonight
one twenty one to ninety three. Victor wembin Yama twenty
seven points, seventeen rebounds. Teammate off the bench, killed In
Johnson has twenty one points. Wembin Yama last game was
(32:42):
kicked out in the first half for throwing an elbow.
There was no suspension or fine from that. So in
the first quarter tonight he had eighteen points and sixteen boards.
That's more than the rest of his team combined. He
had eighteen, the rest of the team sixteen, and he
had more rebounds than well, it's just ridiculous how good
this guy is. Detroit tied two games apiece, will host
(33:02):
Cleveland on Wednesday. Then game six of that series will
be at Cleveland on Friday. Cavs are six and oh
at home this postseason. Darryl Morey is out as seventy
six Ers president Nick Nurse will stay as head coach
in the WNBA. Atlanta is two and oh sixteen rebounds
for Angel Reese tonight, half of them offensive All win
at Dallas seventy seven to seventy two. In the NHL playoffs,
(33:25):
Buffalo tied its second round series two games apiece, winning
at Montreal three to two. Anaheim and Vegas are tied
two games apiece and currently in Vegas end of one,
it's one to one. Ducks on the road to the NFL.
The league will release its full schedule this Thursday night.
All of the international matchups will be announced Wednesday, However, Reportedly,
(33:48):
in Paris it'll be New Orleans against Pittsburgh week seven,
and the Bengals and Falcons will play a game in
Madrid in November. Atlanta quarterback tw otago Iloa won there
last year.
Speaker 4 (34:00):
The Dolphins.
Speaker 10 (34:01):
The season's first Monday night game will have the Chiefs
hosting the Broncos. Seattle will host the league's season opener
on a Wednesday night against. It appears either New England
or Chicago.
Speaker 4 (34:11):
We'll find out.
Speaker 10 (34:12):
Thursday. Number one Yonick Center of Italy won his fourth
round match at the Italian Open, his twenty sixth straight
victory in Major League Baseball. The Pirates Paul Skeens had
a no hitter for six and a third, eventually three
to one Pittsburgh over Colorado. Skeen's got the win eight
innings of work, two hits, allowed, ten strikeouts, no walks.
Philadelphia a two to one winner at Boston. Kyle Schwarber
(34:35):
his seventeenth homer. He's homered in five straight games, has
the batting average up to two twenty nine. The Yankees
ended a four game losing streak winning at Baltimore six'.
Two LOSING o Starter Trevor, rodgers just off the il
due to, illness pitched four innings and was down six to.
Nothing milwaukee won its fifth straight, game Beating San diego
six to, four and it was The mets ten to
(34:57):
two over The Detroit. Tigers J ewing with his major
league debut.

major league debut with three walks or, more but of
everyone on that, list no one also had a, triple
or also had a stolen, base or also had multiple.
RBIs he had all of that in his major league.
(35:40):
Debut so one that we have never seen.
Speaker 1 (35:42):

Speaker 1 (38:17):
Sure you say it as in, vigor as in Violence.
Vic so a lot more in this game coming up
in a few. Minutes but quite, SIMPLY i don't know
how this is not being talked about more. TODAY i
don't know HOW Jj reddick's job with The lakers is
not being discussed that maybe you can move on from
him in the final twelve seconds of last night's lost
(38:37):
To Oklahoma city AND i. Can't and the reason it's
it's falling it's falling away is because people didn't ask
him about. This with twelve seconds, left The lakers are down,
three they have no. Timeouts they need a. Three who's
the best three point shooter on the, Team Ruey, hotchimore
who is having the best night shooting the. Basketball guy's
got the highest percentage of threes in PLAY nba playoff
(38:59):
his right, now not that you had to go to,
him but you would, think, okay, well either he Or
Austin reeves Or lebron is taking this final. Shot, now
The lakers got a good, shot, right he had shot
and he missed, it and he's one of the guys
you want to take that, shot, Okay but needing a
three with twelve seconds, Left Ruey hachimura is not in the.
Speaker 4 (39:24):
Game he has taken out of the.
Speaker 1 (39:25):
Game Maxi kleeber is put in the, game who didn't
play all game And the only explanation we Got Ramona,
shelburne who and This Rona shelburn's a great, reporter is
because she, Said, hey WHAT i was told was That
hachimura wasn't in the game because they wanted to set
up a certain play and he could, scream and that
was the reason why right now she just, said this
is WHAT i was, told because nobody else asked him
(39:47):
that at the postgame press. Conference how is that not
the first? Question how when you need a three is
your best three point shooter not in the? GAME i
told you how that you could fire a guy for.
Speaker 9 (39:59):
That we really.
Speaker 3 (40:00):
Could but look at and we did a little on
this last night as the game was wrapping. Up you
could find it across all. Socials great work by the
team getting it out. There BUT i told you in the,
moment it's like The lebron conversation today is about what
what is his history?
Speaker 6 (40:17):
Here what is the?
Speaker 1 (40:17):
Legacy what does it? Meant is it a?
Speaker 3 (40:19):
Success all of that same. Thing last, night it was all,
right wrap up the year and let's look ahead to next.
Year there was no, hey let's break down this game
because everybody was already, well we were presuming. Anyway but
as a group of people standing around asking, question, like
it still seems you, know it's the old to mix.
Sports you can't hit a grand slam baton, leadoff, right
(40:43):
it's the same thing.
Speaker 1 (40:44):
Here you can't win four games without winning the first.
One and you had a chance to try to win
this game and. MECHS i Mean cleveland comes off the
off the. Bank you want to take somebody else out,
fight BUT i mean, it you need a three and
you take your best three points out of the. GAME
i mean that that makes there's no world in which
(41:04):
that move makes.
Speaker 3 (41:05):
Sense, well go through the, timeout go through the down
distance on a lot of time management down the, stretch
and it was poor and it was something that had
been chronicled all year, long right despite the fifty plus,
wins and yes they missed all their stars for chunks of.
Speaker 1 (41:20):
Time there's there's no denying. That but in a chance
to crawl, back even if.
Speaker 3 (41:27):
You just get one and get the gentleman's sweep before
it's all said and, done the fact that none of
that got asked is.
Speaker 4 (41:33):
Laughable it's.
Speaker 1 (41:34):
SAD i, YEAH i, mean LIKE i THINK Jj reddick
is trying to find a way to fly under the
radar when you made one of the worst coaching.
Speaker 4 (41:41):
Decisions you can mary that moment the bridge, man why
what are you doing because we're Getting luca back for
Getting oh that's. True, hey you KNOW I i REALLY jj. Breath,
yeah it's like The World series back in the. Day
it's the best to.
Speaker 1 (41:52):
Nine but WOULD jj Put luca in the. GAME i
don't know that he. Would, Hey luca is our best,
player but you, know maybe we take him out BECAUSE
i want to get somebody else in there who can
set some.
Speaker 4 (42:01):
Screens WHAT i, mean what are you REALLY i.
Speaker 1 (42:05):
DON'T i. DON'T i don't understand. This there's no world
in which that move makes. Sense i'm taking especially he
just hit a four point. Play, yeah seconds.
Speaker 3 (42:14):
Ago hit several shots to get several big plays to
keep you in the.
Speaker 1 (42:19):
Game late, exit how about A fresca? Exit, SWOLLANDON i
mean you could get fired for. THAT i can't believe
that's not a bigger topic of. Conversation you want him
out to have to fire you Run coming up, next
more from THE nba and a big college football.
Speaker 4 (42:33):
Story foxes
