Speaker 2 (00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (00:29):
Oh, play it loud, Play it loud. Five second dance party. Hey, Wemby,
I'll see you in three more games. See you, Wemby,
See you soon, Wemby Nixon? What Jay mix in for?
(00:50):
Mix in for seven more. That's got seven more, seven
more wins. That's time. Come counting. I'm counting down, Matt
seven more, seven more to the title, Mike Harmon, you
look so unhappy right now. You look absolutely so unhappy your.
Speaker 3 (01:11):
Your ability to go from minus one hundred and and
eighty and totally flip your world.
Speaker 1 (01:18):
I ride the lightning. No, no, it's the lightning.
Speaker 3 (01:21):
You know, it's justification and everything that was what began
our one.
Speaker 1 (01:25):
Yeah, this is the world, this is whatever, And now
you are waving goodbye and screaming at television screens. Yeah yeah,
yea yeah, yeah yeah yeah, and.
Speaker 3 (01:35):
People who may not even be Cavaliers fans or anything
having to do with them.
Speaker 1 (01:40):
No, you just didn't. He wasn't wearing a Knick shirt,
he yelled at the guy.
Speaker 4 (01:44):
No.
Speaker 1 (01:44):
So it's it's that fandom that ride the lightning. I'm
a little jealous of it.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
I'm also a bit scared of it at times here
in the Fox Sports radio studios. But the improbable has happened.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
Those people that had ninety five percent of the money
that was bet on the Knicks minus seven and a
half actually cashed their tickets and did so not sweating
at all in over time. Go New York, Go New York,
(02:17):
goa inityfore now, before we get into this incredible comeback,
biggest comeback in Knick's history, biggest comeback in the NBA
playoffs in thirteen years. Was a twenty two point lead
for the Cavaliers with under eight minutes to go in regulation.
Speaker 3 (02:36):
Ready for my hot take, Thank go ahead. Kenny Atkinson
should be fired right now.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
The fact that James Harden was isoed with Jalen Brunson
possession after possession after session. He can't stay with him
you could have Jason kidds fire. Jason Kidd could come
and coach this team. Now, he could have gotten a
guy out of third deck that paid that five to
fifty one to sit in the nosebleeds to coach better
than he did down the stretch. How are you letting
(03:00):
and get cooked? Repeatedly? When we started the show just
an hour ago, at this time it was a twenty
two point lead for the Cleveland Cavaliers. And on the
other side of the glass, executive producer Justin Frossberg, Alex
Tyshert technical wizard. Oh now he's a wizard. Well he
always was a wizard. Oh okay, I've called him a wizard.
(03:22):
Wanted to open the show with their own spin on
game one. Now we're gonna let you hear from an
hour ago. This was what was said an hour ago
at this time, one hour ago, twenty two point lead,
one hour ago, it was a twenty two point lead
at this time for the Cleveland Cavaliers Game one, And
(03:43):
this is how he opened the show. But mainly listen
to how the last person to speak and what they
actually say. Go ahead on nixs in for Nixon for
Nick in for nixt in far it's still the third quarter.
It's the quarter of the game. It's the third quarter. Okay,
(04:08):
save this. So when the Knicks come back and win,
we play at the beginning of next hour. So we're
never gonna play beginning of the next hour. Go New York, Go,
New York, Go. Go.
Speaker 3 (04:19):
By the way, they were really positive until that last
sentence there. That was you praying and offering sacrifice. What
did you What did you do to Zoey?
Speaker 2 (04:28):
So?
Speaker 1 (04:28):
Did you give way? Her college funded the basketball gods?
I saw the future beginning the next hour. We're gonna
play it back.
Speaker 3 (04:36):
I mean, no, no, no, that that is the dying
man's lamentation.
Speaker 1 (04:41):
That's the gamblers. Please Lord, I'll never fall and cross
you up again. Let me have this one. Please. I know, Mike, Mike,
I know things. I see things. I knew the future
an hour ago. I said, save this. When the Knicks win,
we're playing it back in an hour. Here we are.
(05:02):
I mean they were cheering on the Knicks exactly. They
were cheering on the nex.
Speaker 3 (05:06):
I mean that was positivity. There was no sarcasm or snark.
H cheering on that. I knew the future.
Speaker 1 (05:11):
Maybe there's only two of them. I mean, how loud
can they? Jason? I want to thank you for encouraging
your team to win. Yeah, well I was. I felt like,
you know, no, it's our fault that they won, right,
That's okay? Now, no that thank you, thank you, thank
you for all of your negativity because the Knicks won
because of you. Well that and also, wow, and unbelievable
fourth quarter or really last half of a fourth quarter
by the Knicks and the Cavaliers just absolutely getting so tight,
(05:35):
settling for threes and winding up falling short against the
Knicks in Game one, And really, I don't know what
you have left if you're the Cavaliers. Right. This is
an exact one eighty of Game one of the Eastern
Conference Finals last year. The Knicks had the big lead
over the over the Pacers, and what happened. Pacers kept
hitting threes, everybody in the team kept hitting threes, and
(05:56):
Halliburton hits that miracle three back of the rim up
straight down does the choke sign turns out to not
be a three, but they go to overtime, the Pacers win,
they win the series, they go to the NBA Finals.
This is this is what I was owed. I was
owed this karma flip. I feel like Ron bergerty, I
was owed this entire flip miss Corningstone, an entire one
(06:17):
to eighty from last year where it was the Knicks
down huge, I mean twenty two points with under eight
minutes left, and they come back and tied at the
end of regulation and just blow past the Cavaliers in
overtime one fifteen to one oh four. Jalen Brunson at
awful first three and a half quarters and then he
couldn't miss, And all of a sudden Brunson just couldn't miss,
(06:38):
and the Knicks erase this deficit. And it's not like
they erased it all the way down and hey they
hit a big shot that brings them all. No, this
was a tie game with about a minute plus left
to go, Like this is this is where the Knicks
erase that deficit in about six minutes. You know, twenty
twenty two point lead gets eras in about six minutes.
You tell me a team doesn't look like a team
(06:58):
of destiny seeing three games, see you in three games?
Get those Nick Spurs NBA Finals tickets ready? Print him up.
Speaker 3 (07:06):
Yeah, I got a lot of questions. I wish I
was in the uh the press throng throng. Yeah, none
of you get to talk.
Speaker 1 (07:12):
I've got nine questions for coach before he gets to
leave this dais coach Donovan Mitchell dominated early. He had
five shots total in the fourth quarter and overtime. Riddle
be that batman? Where did he go? Why did he disappear?
Oh again, why is James hard not Jalen Brunson? And
watching him.
Speaker 3 (07:31):
Get cooked you could literally see, Uh it was it
was like, Uh, Tom Hanks creating fire and castaway.
Speaker 1 (07:38):
It's like his foot's on fire. He's moving past him
so fast. Uh, and just on and on and on.
But that fourth quarter was just absurd.
Speaker 5 (07:45):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (07:46):
You talked about settling for threes, settling for bad shots,
trying to run down possessions, but then coming away with
ill faded and shots and and braakes. Going back the
other way. Nick's moving the ball effective a lot of
spot up, wide open looks into the corners, even if
it came back out. But when they did put up
(08:06):
a three point shot, suddenly there's it's uncontested. So good
ball rotation. Maybe they were just pacing themselves. Maybe that's
all it was. Maybe they needed the smelling salts. Maybe
they needed the hatred of a full city and all
the nation, including those ninety five percent of the backers
that had them. But suddenly that fourth quarter was just
(08:28):
out of a different, different planet, a different universe.
Speaker 1 (08:33):
You want to know something that is well, we always
give you something different, right, and we'll give you stuff
tonight that I'm sure you're gonna hear people say tomorrow.
You hear a lot of times that the game got
too long, right, you hear that'll you hear that about
you have? Like the game got too long and a
team that had a league, whether it's football, basketball, baseball,
(08:54):
the game just got too long. And whatever momentum you have,
whatever whatever you were doing that wasn't working. The other
team is able to gather themselves focus, take advantage. Sometimes
the game gets too long. Well, this lead that the
Cavaliers built out the third quarter was long, Like it
took a long time to play that third quarter. They're
doing the hack of Mitchell Robinson, he's missing the free throws.
(09:14):
But that third quarter was a long time, right, that
was a long time, And the first couple of minutes
of the fourth quarter, it was a long time. There
weren't points being scored. You had guys, you had guys
coming in, you had a lot of substitutions. It just
got long. Right, if you're watching this game at home,
you feel like, yeah, boy, you feel like you're looking
going man. There was some time where it felt like, Okay,
(09:35):
this game is just kind of going along dribs and drabs.
And when a game gets long like that, that always
favors the team that's trying to come back because that
invariably you get a spark, you get some sort of
couple of big plays in a row. And the Knicks, honestly,
they felt it when they got it to fifteen, like
you could see Madison Square Garden come alive. At six
(09:55):
and a half minutes, when Brunson makes a three, the
Cavaliers down the other end, they get a layup to
cut it to fifteen, and you could see MSG just
go absolutely bananas. And that's what I thought, Oh, yeah,
this game's not over. This is the Cavaliers are gonna
have to finish if they're gonna win this game. And
it was you could see it from when it was
a fifteen point lead. The Cavaliers started settling for threes.
(10:18):
They were getting down low the entire second half, and
it wasn't difficult. It was a couple of pay It
was Mitchell with either either Mitchell would penetrate and dish
for a dunk or an easy layup, or he would dish,
and then it was one pass later on to Mobiley
or Allen for an easy dunk or a layup. And
that didn't happen. They settled for threes and they kept
(10:38):
You could tell the mind said, is just one, just
give us one three. If we just hit one three,
we're gonna we'll be okay, We'll get that lead. Back
out to fifteen, back out to twelve, and they couldn't.
And they just missed and missed and missed. And I'm watching,
I'm saying, this is the exact opposite of what I
watched a year ago tonight in Game one of the
Eastern Conference Finals with the Pacers, watching the Pacers make
(10:59):
every single three in the Knicks not make a shot.
Brunton with a big turnover, they still met and it
still comes all the way down to the end. You
get the miracle shot by Haliburton. This was the exact
and total opposite of it. Man, it was a magic
carpet rode. It was just an absolute magic.
Speaker 3 (11:13):
But just go back to the unwatchable, dismal first quarter
that we watched right twenty three sixteen Cavaliers, just absolutely disjointed,
and it's like, okay, maybe there was more to this
series and a hangover. And then the following two quarters
they go on a terror and we see a completely
(11:35):
different squad. And then you get back to the fourth quarter,
eighteen points scored and then over time all of three.
But you watch Donovan Mitchell have his way early on
James Harden, not overwhelming, but made a couple of plays defensively,
was distributing the ball fairly well, finding his way to
(11:56):
the follow line a couple times eventually. But you look
at Jalen Brunson in the fourth quarter in overtime, and
I'll show you the shot chart because I've got him
up for our fun and exciting uh. I'll speak it
out to our live audience nation wide here and globally
on the iHeartRadio app. One for five for Mitchell. And
then we look at Jalen Brunson's fourth quarter and overtime.
(12:18):
He goes eight of eight of ten, including seven makes
inside the paint, all right, he was only eli took
one three point shot that entire time. It seemed like
he was blitzing. But no, it was the drive and
cooking James Harden repeatedly, and then when he didn't take
a shot, he drew the double so wide open looks
(12:40):
as you talked about for Shamit.
Speaker 1 (12:42):
We had the step back and you and I watched
it live when when Bridges hit that big three, the
twenty five foot step back, they had called a fall
and merrill that I think everybody in attendants looked, goes,
that was a foul you get. You like, the guys
beat the hell out of each other quite frequently here
and you call a loose baul and then in the
ensuing moments you get the big three point shot and
(13:05):
the garden just erupts. But for Jalen Brunson, yeah, it
was pacing. And we watched the Cavaliers just go away
from everything that had worked, as if to say, all right,
the game's done. It's like, no, you have to finish
the job. And I use the football equivalents because we
do that oftentimes watching a team with a two score lead,
(13:28):
maybe you know it's a seventeen point lead and all
of a sudden, we got a game in the final
two or three minutes because they went away from what
was working. It's like, you know, you may not love
your run game, but you know what, it's a minute
off the clock every time you do it right. All
of that, or call a swing pass.
Speaker 3 (13:43):
You know you're eighty percent completion rate to your running
back out of the back, whatever it is. In this case,
you just went away from everything of working inside and
settling for bad jump shots which yield what long rebounds
and breakout opportunities. And what we know from the Calves
is well you can expose a little bit in transition.
(14:05):
And once again you had Mitchell in foul trouble for
the good part of the fourth quarter and even the
third quarter a bit. Uh James Harden had finished with
five files. But all said, you watch the Knicks just say, okay,
we've got exposed the soft underbelly. Mitchell's not being aggressive anymore,
so let's attack. And Jalen Bronson was that guy once
(14:28):
again forty four to eleven to close things out. Now,
everything you just said, you know what I can put
what heading I can put that.
Speaker 1 (14:34):
Under nix In for nix In for mix in four.
It's a NIX and four heading and everything you just said.
How about it.
Speaker 3 (14:43):
Harmon in the and the Excellent. That's the title for
the video, Harmon and the Excellence of Elocution.
Speaker 1 (14:50):
An unreal comeback. We are just getting started, a huge
four n the k next take a one oh lead
over the Cavaliers coming up next. Tonight's a rough night
for the Cavaliers. Tomorrow will be a rougher day for
the game. You're the coach, however, I'll tell you who's
(15:11):
going to have the roughest day tomorrow after this game tonight.

Speaker 1 (16:48):
Nicks, we're down by twenty, then they weren't hit. A
couple of threes in Cleveland went cold, then we went
to over time. Now we're up one oh terrible winner
Fox Sports Radio. It is the Jalen Brunson Show with
(17:10):
my Bess friend Landry Shannett as the Knicks save the
NBA Playoffs, Oh boy, with a one fifteen one oh
four overtime win over Cleveland. They were down by twenty
two points with seven and a half to go in
the fourth quarter. In a frantic, furious comeback, a magic
(17:32):
carpet ride for the Knicks forty four to eleven to
close things out, shooting seventy one percent from the field
during that stretch, and Donovan Mitchell was wearing a cloak
of invisibility as if you were a Harry Potter character.
Now we'll tell you who it's gonna be a tough
day for tomorrow coming up in a minute. But first,
UH want to bring you the Mike Breen call of
(17:54):
the final play of regulation. This is a tie game.
Brunton had just hit a layup to make it UH
tied at one oh one apiece. Cavaliers had one last
chance to try to win the game in regulation, and
here's Mike, longtime NIX play by play man Mike Breen
with the call of the final play of regulation. Merrill
(18:18):
three punter, But oh no no. He was ready to
say bang three punter, no edit out, No, we go
to overtime. Well, I mean it's better, you know, since
he is the voice of the next that he didn't say, oh,
miss suck it.
Speaker 5 (18:40):
That's a premature bang.
Speaker 1 (18:41):
That was a premature bang by Mike Breen. It was
dribbled a little bit. It was premature because he was
it was overhead. That was like if it was a
swing in Major League Baseball, he would have went around.
He I would have been tapping on my helmet. He
didn't get the challenge. He didn't go but he went.
Speaker 2 (18:54):
Back three Potter.
Speaker 1 (18:55):
But no, no, no, no ut no sorry, no no
no no no no no no no no no. Why
And I want to know this, why was he so
insistent on getting ready to call a bang for the
for the for the free. Potter's an impartial deserver just
because he's a man of the league. You have time
to say bang. If it goes in, all you do
is wait another half a second. You know that? Okay,
(19:17):
no bang. The trajectory was good. He's seen a few
jump shots go down in his day. He's I mean, uh,
I know that. You know you want to say, you
want to call it, But I mean, no Potter, no bang, Mike,
bring no bang, no bang, Mike.
Speaker 3 (19:33):
So, is this like when a referee misses a call
he's downgraded for his call of this game?
Speaker 1 (19:37):
Oh yeah, Mike, they're gonna look at this, Mike. Mike
Breen gets a little bit of a demeri. It'll be
the two minute review for announcers, and they're gonna say, hey,
you kind of blew this. Uh we we think we
think that maybe Iron Eagle has another kid, uh somewhere
that can call the games. And I think he just
gets a lesser, lesser meal from catering Potter. You get
the table over there, uh maulation no, no, no, no,
(20:03):
He's gonna go get a Burger's ways and buy for
us Nixon for Yeah, hey, hey, where do you want
to eat? Non in and out. I will easily buy
in and out Burger for everybody tonight. I will easily
do that to celebrate this win. All right, he's calling
out from Odyssey tomorrow. Connor, I mean I don't know.
(20:26):
I mean, I mean, Donovan Mitchell's not doing anything. He
could go in and out bring with us. Yeah, hey,
you know James Harden could hide it in his beard. Yeah,
I don't know if we want Mitchell to get it,
why not sucks it delivering Alex tyshert bang Alex Teischer
with a double bang. He did not. He left us
on red Go New York, Go New York, go.
Speaker 5 (20:47):
In and out.
Speaker 3 (20:48):
Yeah, Coco Jones is really disappointed tonight. She got a
lot of run after the Game seven win and that's
where if you're a Cavaliers fan, you're losing your mind
to it. Right, You win a big game five on
the road, you lose a home game and everybody scratching
their head, and then you come out and absolutely obliterate
(21:11):
the Piston to send them home, leaving to a lot
of arguments and consternation amongst your guys, your Detroit folks.
And and then you have this game where.
Speaker 1 (21:23):
It's you're feeling like you've taken over the world, and
then you know, conveniently forget to finish. You got to
finish the job man. So while it is will be
a tough day for Mike Breen tomorrow with the premature bang,
the premature Yeah, there's a premature in and out bang
on Brooklyn nine nine And Samberg would say, title your
sex tape. But you know who's going to have a
(21:48):
really tough day tomorrow. Well yeah, well, hey, don't worry.
We're going to hear from Kenny Atkinson. He said something
incredible coming up in about it.
Speaker 3 (21:56):
Well, I think the biggest thing though, is he said
something he didn't crush a lot. But there were a
lot of pensive moments trying to grasp in the airage
for words to get together into the sentence to explain what.
Speaker 1 (22:12):
The hell was happened? Just how did we blow a
twenty two point I don't know now, just just really
quick just to say this, I don't know the last
time we've had two games like this in a row
in the NBA. Players, where you go from the unbelievable
excitement and the performance of Wemby last night that just
took over the entire sports world to what we had tonight,
(22:34):
which was a kind of meandering three and a half
quarters and then a final six and a half minutes
in overtime that was just absolutely stunning. I know we
had two nights in a row in the NBA.
Speaker 3 (22:43):
Like that, but this is where you get to the
greatness tonight, Right last we get a battle double ot
and the Wemby game. Right we started off with the
take right the here's your Otani, recognize it, love it. Yes,
it's only game one of a Western Conference final, but
it just the magnitude of it in such a big moment.
(23:04):
And then we get this where you just decide which
side of the coin you want to jump with.
Speaker 1 (23:08):
It's either the brilliance and resiliency of Jalen Brunson and
and all of that stuff. So everybody that tried to
dismiss him, I'm sure you're ready with your take, and
you found your notes for and maybe some some blank
ears to a few guys that hated on Jalen Brunson
over the course of the year, or you take the
other side, which is far more fun of the Cleveland
(23:30):
Cavaliers absolutely giving this game away. Well, it's the best part.
We have two and a half hours left on the
show we have. We can get to all of it.
We get all of all of it, but it is
going to be another tough day for the The mix
can't win anything. If Jalen Brunson's their best player, crowd,
that's the one. I just couldn't be the voice. It
(23:51):
couldn't be a really you know, Logy, he's too small
and he's just I mean, I don't know who they're fooling.
If Jalen Brunson's your second or third best player, you
really have a chance, but you're not winning anything. If Brunton, who's.
Speaker 3 (24:03):
Jason channeling eight seven seven ninety nine at how about
a first It's.
Speaker 1 (24:07):
Kind of like my professor Frank a little bit with
the shots and the threes and the midsys. Wow blavin'. Uh.
Since the Knicks got Jalen Brunson, their fortunes have changed.
They went from a team that couldn't even make the playoffs.
Now you're fourth year in a row at least to
make it to the second round, second year a row
(24:28):
into the conference finals. Jalen Brunson's pretty good at winning.
He's pretty good at leading. He's a great player. You
can win, obviously if Jalen Brunson is your best player. Yes,
he's small, I get it. But everybody made excuses for
Steph Curry for a long time, even when you couldn't
give him the ball at the end of the game
because Steph Curry can't pass out of a double team
and can't get his shot off. It was no, but
(24:49):
Steph is still so great. Oh but Brunson, Yeah, Brunson's
too small. Brunson's made more clutch shots, I want to say,
in his in his time with the Knicks at the
end of regulation, when you talk about getting the last
couple minutes of the game and overtime, He's made more
clutch shots with the Knicks than Steph Curry's had his
entire career right clutch shots in the final couple minutes
(25:11):
of the game. Couldn't get look at Steph Curry see
clutch shots in the final two matters or in the
final minute of games. He doesn't have that many. He
just doesn't. But we want to make excuses for him.
But Jalen bruns says, oh no, you're not gonna do it.
Jalen Brunson has shown you the elite player he is.
He hit everything today in the final six and a
half minutes. He hit threes, he hit bank shots to
(25:34):
the he got to the hoop for a layup to
tie the game at one oh one. When getting to
the rack for Brunson gets to be difficult at the
end of the game, he did everything. He hit big
shots in overtime. Jalen Brunson is that dude.
Speaker 5 (25:46):
Man.
Speaker 1 (25:46):
I'm sorry that nobody else saw it, or nobody else
wanted to give him credit for the fact that the
Knicks were ass before he showed up. He shows up,
and look at the Knicks now, they're relevant during the conversation.
Every year they're a title contender. He's been their best play.
I don't understand the Knicks can't win. If Jalen Brunton's
your best player, crowd, I don't get it. Gonna be
a tough day for them tomorrow. Gonna be fun to
(26:07):
watch them backtrack and go well, nol. Jalen bruns is
in a new level of it. No, Jalen Brunton's been
this guy. He has been this guy. I'm sorry you
didn't see it or you just wanted to hate the Knicks,
but this is Jalen Brunson.
Speaker 3 (26:18):
Oh, but it's all about finishing the job, right, that's
the convenient thing we get to you, going back to
your Steph Curry argument. Even if he's not the guy
that gets you over the the finish line in some
of those games, they win consistently, they win titles. Oh yeah,
remember Kevin Durant was your Finals MVP those two years
that he was on board for that ride. But for
Jalen Brunson, I mean we watched it tonight, right, He
(26:40):
hit one three point shot tonight. Everything else was in
the paint where he just absolutely destroys teams on a
regular basis.
Speaker 1 (26:48):
Now, I've watched probably more Knicks basketball than anybody that's
a Knicks fan. Hey, you know, it's all Knicks fans
and then me given the the amount that we've watched
them go to work, and Jalen Brunson's a guy and
it's you cheer for him because he doesn't look the
the part necessarily of a guy that's gonna take over
(27:11):
at the point guard position. Physically.
Speaker 3 (27:13):
Maybe he's just got a jersey that's bigger and he's
actually ripped. But it's the world will never know, but
it's it's the idea of getting into the lane amongst
the trees and still creating enough space, still creating the
the arc to to drop it in as he did.
I mean, talk about that dominance in the fourth quarter
in overtime, like that's a microcosm of what you've been
watching dur his entire time. Now, did they get him
(27:35):
on the sweetheart deal because his dad was there?
Speaker 1 (27:37):
Yeah, he might find out. You never know, but I
don't care. Bob politzerprise and nobody cares about the story.
You want to Pulitzer Prize? Nothing here, So what did
you What did you change? What change did you effect
by winning that? Nothing? Really nothing. It's kind of just
been dropped.
Speaker 3 (27:56):
They said, they said the reporting was really good. I
used great punkshoe I put together a nice coaching argument.
All of that to say, though, back to the Jalen
Brunson story, right, the knicks dominate points in the paint
as easy as it was for the cavaliers, a point
when it mattered who was standing amongst the trees, it
was Jalen Brunson. Where he lives, and he operates like
(28:18):
no other. And this is he's the textbook and clinical version.
If you're a coach of young kids of all, right,
here here's how you operate. He you know, here's how
you operate to get into the lane, to create your
own shot, to create space.
Speaker 1 (28:32):
And it all starts with his footwork.
Speaker 3 (28:34):
You talk to anybody, anybody as you go through, right,
you listen to a little bit on the radio broadcast
as they break it down. It's like, even if the
shot doesn't go, you can see that it portends to
great success because now he's got the defender on his heels.
Speaker 1 (28:47):
Yeah, Tommy.
Speaker 3 (28:47):
And then if you're gonna iso James Harden, Hi, Kenny, Kenny,
you hear me. If you're gonna Iso James Harden with him,
you're cooked. And that happened time and time again where
he just walked into the lane on him, you know.
Speaker 1 (28:59):
And the thing about Brunson is this what I've also
said about him for the longest time. Probably the smartest
player in the league as as talented Lebron James basketball
gonna fight you at six', two even when you find
a way to get your, shot whether it IS i
know the jab step is gonna put my defender on his,
heels the, fallaway the one hander Like brunson has all
(29:22):
of those shots in his. Arsenal but when you get
a good enough, defender you would think at some, point,
well at some Point brunston's gonna have a difficulty getting that.
Right Steph curry has difficulty getting a shot off with
a bigger defender on. Him you would think That brunson
would have that same, difficulty and he does not because he, Knows,
hey IF i give this is the MOVE i need to,
make that's gonna get me the. Shot it may not look,
(29:43):
great but it's gonna get me a. Shot it's gonna
get me a good, look and it's not gonna get.
Blocked it's not gonna be something that misses AND i
hit AND i throw it up and it's an. Airball
it's going to be a good. Look and that's WHAT
i mean WHEN i say the guy is so incredibly
smart because even you, know no matter what kind of
defenders you throw on, him he finds a way to
get his shot in the final, minutes even when defenders
(30:04):
are cloaked on. Him he knows when WHEN i watch
him sometimes set up a side of the court AND
i go how TIMES i, say this is where it's
it's three dribbles and a step back three and it's three,
dribbles LIKE i could see what he's looking. At, no
this is where he's gonna fake the step back and
go to the rim because he can see where the
defenders are, Moving like he can see this play ahead of.
Time and that's What brunson does and he's such a
(30:26):
genius at. It AND i feel bad that other people
can't see it that because it's not. Sexy but what's
sexy is the ball going in the hoop and big
shots at the end of. Games that's what's. Sexy that's what.
Works That's Jalen. Brunson, YEAH i mean we go back
and getting the. Feedback we appreciate you at how about
a fresca at Swollen. Dome you, know you go.
Speaker 3 (30:44):
Back we got to go back forty years To Isaiah, thomas,
right and folks chiming in give it a little love
To detroit trying to you, know wrap him in a
big hug after the debacle over the, weekend but you,
know trying trying to find those those guys that are
difference makers in that. Regard, Right and by way of,
(31:05):
contrast we watched just an absolute disappearing act from guys
who are two of the best scorers in the, game,
Right Donovan. Mitchell the graphic that will be executed for
the next twenty four to forty eight, hours that his
last field goal came with over eight minutes remaining in
the fourth, Quarter, right absolute disappearing. Act whether that's a
(31:26):
ratchet up of defensive intensity by.
Speaker 1 (31:29):
The, Knicks i'm not gonna go that. Far the lack of,
Execution and again the coaching staff needs to answer for.
This but For Jalen, brunson it's the next in the next,
chapter the next paragraph on The wikipedia. Page however you
want to put it of, all, right here's in front
(31:49):
of a huge audience watching him put the team on his.
Shoulders because it really came through him. Right Karl Anthony
towns was more or less just a guy except for
that cool long rebound where he had just enough reach
where he never left the three point, arc corralled it
like it was. Uh he was playing, hungry hungry hippos
and the ball got close enough to just suck it
(32:10):
back and took another. Shot but other than, THAT i,
mean it really was a Bruns and. Game when it's
all said and, done it's gonna be a tough day
for that crowd, tomorrow Make carmen tough. Day time now
to find out what's trending in the wide world of
sports from special Delivery steve De, sager who has twenty
seven new facts about The knicks win over The cavaliers
overtime four and a couple of that curry.
Speaker 4 (32:32):
Too Jalen brunson as a nick in game ones of
a series now has a record of eight and, two
and he's always scored more than twenty points in a
series opener as a, nick including the thirty eight he
had in the comeback At Madison Square. Garden, Tonight knicks
Take game one of The East finals Over cleveland in
overtime one fifteen one oh Four knicks out scored him
(32:55):
in THE ot fourteen to Three New. York this is

Speaker 4 (33:14):
Himself it was an astounding display In france Against wembenyama And.
France and just before that he had won The Clutch
player of The year award in THE, nba which is
not an opinion. Vote it goes by what are your
stats in the last five minutes if it's a five
point game or, Less and The warriors played a lot
of them that, year And curry was fifty percent from
(33:35):
the field in the, clutch forty six percent from three point,
range foul shooting was ninety five percent with the game
on the line late and the previous ten years he'd
had ten game winning shots in the last five seconds
of a game or, overtime and that was.
Speaker 1 (33:52):
Tops in THE.
Speaker 4 (33:52):
Nba you, asked when we have seen this last night's
game and then tonight's, game both, incredible unlike amazing to
watch for. Starters it's the first time that we've had
game one of each conference final go. Overtime and keep
in mind the, format each conference final will have games
every other, night never more than one night off between
(34:15):
games for each series in this. Round so we just
got the two openers these last couple of nights or last,
night and tonight tomorrow is game two of The West,
finals and we can update those stats we gave from
an hour. Ago The Cleveland cavaliers in franchise, history what's
their record in the playoffs when they're up double digits
to start a fourth? Quarter sixty four and two lost last,
(34:39):
year lost this year in those, situations and we can
update The knicks. Franchise they had lost forty playoff games
in a row dating back to nineteen seventy three win
down by at least thirteen points to start a playoff four.
Row amazing comeback in this. One cleveland's three point try
at the end regulation went in and out. Bank oh,
(35:03):
nope not. Bang The knicks were awful from three point
range for most of the, night four for twenty three
going into the fourth, quarter yet they wound up with
ten made. Threes five of the ten came in these
last eight minutes as part of the huge. Comeback Jason
kidd is no Longer mavericks head coach as they've mutually parted.
(35:25):
WAYS Nhl vancouver fired Coach Adam foot to baseball eighth,
inning And San Diego padres And dodgers tied at. Four
Freddie freeman with two home. Runs mariners won nothing over
The White sox bottom of the, seventh each team with one.
Hit yankees And rays each. One milwaukee beat The cubs

THE i was like to go way back the pendulum of.
Speaker 1 (37:11):
Emotion, Man now you see it Now i'm a lot. Happier. Yeah, no, man,
absolutely The knicks win it one, fifteen one oh four in.
Overtime they were down twenty two with seven fifty two
left to go in. Regulation i'll tell you What knicks
wind up winning the. Title ninety, three seventy, two seven
(37:32):
fifty two will be A t shirt Those, no that
will be THE t shirt ninety. Three this is the.
Moment start designing it and selling. It now the moment
we believe it.
Speaker 3 (37:40):
To start ramping like The Dante coulpepper old. Momentum, think come, on,
everybody get back into your nineties and early two THOUSANDS.
Speaker 1 (37:48):
Nfl but we talked About Jalen brunson and his incredible.
Game uh, again gonna be a tough day tomorrow for
The Jalen brunson can't win, Crowd but, uh this is
something one to bring you for a little while. Now
Kenny atkinson met the press after the game was. Over
The cavaliers head. Coaching, wow not at all filling me
with any confidence, that, hey we're, Back we're gonna play.
(38:10):
Great we got him In game. Two here he was
talking about the, game the fourth, Quarter Jalen brunson and
what happened to The cavs in blowing the biggest lead
in a playoff game in THE nba in thirteen.
Speaker 7 (38:22):
Years really tough shots in that fourth, quarter you, know
those two, threes prayer threes and a shot, clock and
we got a little, unlucky quite. Honestly brunson obviously took
over at the, end and you know we started double
team And i'm gonna try to try to do some different.
Things BUT i, Said i'm super proud of the way
(38:43):
our group. Played we played great basketball tonight for you,
know three. Quarters unfortunately fourth quarter they dominated us in
the fourth.
Speaker 1 (38:52):
Quarter he sounds like the series is. Over i'm super
proud of my. Guys we. Shot, hey we're gonna be
back there next. Year like it sounds like a concessions.
Speech that was one.
Speaker 3 (39:03):
Big run on, sentence so you know we we have
to pause it between the we got a bit unlucky
and then it's the new paragraph Of Jalen brunson dominated
us from, there, Right it's not one thought we got
unlucky and the guy. Dominated, No, no those are two different.
THINGS a couple of bad shots didn't go. Down you
(39:23):
had the end of shot, clock played some great. DEFENSE i,
had you, know a foul called on. One you had
those two. Shots, look they all count just the. Same
and good job By brandon in the back doing the
editing ian working with, us and Obviously justin And alex
and Their nickson four chant and doing their their magic.
Tonight But brandon had to clean up a lot of you,
(39:44):
know's and thought bubbles Over atkinson's head as to how
he wanted to navigate that, answer which was kind of
interesting hearing it live as it paused, through and you
could just see him staring into space because he's not
gonna throw hard under the. Bus he's not gonna throw
himself under the. Bus for some of the decision, making
(40:05):
or the fact that they took their foot off the
gas and started settling for bad shots as they did
throughout the fourth. Quarter, no, no, no it became we got.
Unlucky you played three quarters of great. Back no your
first quarter.
Speaker 1 (40:18):
It sounded like it's like it's, over we got, unlucky,
brunts and what are you gonna. Do i'm super proud
of my. Team it's not when when you lose a
game in the in the in the sweet, sixteen or
when you get eliminated in game six like that's the
kind of that's how we. Sounded we can take a
lot from. This we played really. Well none of. That
you're taking. Matchups tell me you're not Thinking nixon. Four
(40:38):
after Hearing Kenny atkinson right, THERE i. Did we actually
have another bit From Kenny atkinson here following the, game
but go, Ahead, frostburg let's hear. It.
Speaker 7 (40:50):
Yeah, WELL i like to hold my. TIMEOUTS i, mean you,
KNOW i didn't want to have one time out of
the end of the.
Speaker 5 (40:55):
Game, wonderful this is.
Speaker 7 (40:58):
Real try to hold, them you, know.
Speaker 1 (41:02):
It's still real to. Me, Damn that's WHY i didn't
call so many. Timeouts trying to stop their. Momentum he.
Hold can anybody ask him? Why James harden was still
On Jalen brun despite being cooked. Repeatedly he is the
thing like the hold on time The Vic fangio OF nba.
FIRED i mean, REALLY i like to hold onto my. Timeouts,
(41:22):
dude you needed To you needed to call a timeout
to just sit for a second and gather. Themselves.
Speaker 3 (41:30):
Wow i'm gonna go back into one of the greatest
quotes ever from reality.
Speaker 1 (41:34):
Television wow you're? Fired. Uh coming up next more on
this incredible, comeback including the surprised PERSON i need to
thank for this, Victory, Nixon jason And Mike fox
