(00:47):
tire buying should be well. Stop and buy with us
in a couple of minutes. Gonna be PhD Chris Nowinski Uh,
he's very active on Twitter, has been very at tonight
with what's going on with two a tongue of LA
and his been very active in the prevention and treatment
of concussions over the past few years. Former w w
E superstar he suffered a concussion during his career and
(01:10):
after that wanted to study them and has been studying
them and has helped NFL players, helped with identifying cases
of CTE and the best way to treat them. He
is the founding CEO of Concussion LF. He's a neuroscientist
and author, and he's gonna stop by with us in
a few minutes to talk about what happened with two
a tongue of valoa, what is next, and why, in
(01:30):
his words, the Dolphins should go to jail. His most
recent tweet, you guys should go to jail for letting
to a play five days after an obvious concussion you
covered up. So we're just a few minutes away from
having him join. It's probably about three or four minutes
or so right now, as the Dolphins and the Bengals
late in the fourth quarter. This is obviously story number two, three, four, five,
(01:54):
twenty two and his health number one after what went
on in this game. But with just under five minutes
left to go, the Dolphins have the football and are
driving the Bengals lead of twenty to fifteen. Evan McPherson
just made a long field goal, but Raheem moster Uh
just busted out a twenty five yard run to put
the Dolphins in Bengal territory where they are threatening again.
(02:17):
Still a decent amount of time with you were getting
late in the fourth quarter, but there's still just over
four minutes left to go. The Dolphins are inside the
Bengals thirty yard line. Got your four minute drill going,
what is your four minute offense? They just picked up
a first down and most it looked like he was
gonna maybe have one more juke in him to go
all the way. But a fifty seven yard from Nick
(02:38):
Pherson to stretch it to a five point lead. So, uh,
you know, let's let's see what Mike McDaniel has in
his bag of tricks. Uh. So again, we'll keep you
updated on this. But the the health of to a
tongue of bloat number one. Uh, this is the play
that sent to A to the hospital. Uh, to A who,
according to the Dolphins, does have movement in his hands
(02:59):
and his legs. So that is good. It looks like
to it is okay from that perspective, but it was scary.
Was it negligent? Was it grossly negligent by the Dolphins
to allow him back on the field. Uh? First of all,
on Sunday against the Bills and now four days later. Uh,
the whole way they dealt with the situation was shady
at best. And when you're shady about a concussion, I
(03:21):
think that's gonna be where you're gonna see a big
time investigation. But here's the play we've been talking about.
This is the sack that Towa took in the first
half that resulted in him having to be taken off
on a stretcher. Play active two. A rolling to his
left stops nobody's Opah Jones to be sacked back in
his own territory at the forty seven yard line to
his down. He got body slam, he got thrown down,
(03:44):
and they're coming out right now. Timmy had time to
get rid of it, and Steady Git's thrown down hard
and he's got getting up. Oh boy, Uh, Bengals Radio
Network on the call. This is when we watched to
Uh just lay on his back with his hands in
front of his face mask for a few minutes, which
(04:04):
was really really scary because you don't know what's going on.
And according to many doctors who have weighed in on this,
that is a sign of neurological trauma and the body
trying to fight it. Uh. Which you hear that and
you go, oh wow, this is wait, this is way
more serious. Oh my god, this is way more serious
than I thought. Uh So, this was a really scary moment.
I I don't know that I've seen anything that's scary
(04:26):
on the field in quite a while. And you know,
we've seen injuries, and we've seen guys and you know,
guys plant in their knee, winds up giving out. We
see bad injuries, but something like this, you know, there's
different parts of the body, and then there's your brain,
and anything with your brain is different than everything else.
Well that's it, Jason. How many times do we see
hits and on quarterbacks, running backs going into the line
(04:48):
of scrimmage, all these things and you and I look
at each other and and it just doesn't seem right.
But next play ready to go, uh and seemingly no
obvious repercussions. And even those that get uh later we
we hear, hey, they went into protocol. And you go
back and you look it's like, wow, that's you know,
maybe a glancing blow, maybe something just hit just right,
(05:12):
you know, and and and you never know, right, that's
the thing helmet protection and head injuries. You know that
fine line, but this is one that just in the moment,
and again going back to Sunday, when you tape and
you you piece the two together, the one Sunday was
just disturbing. Right, let's get up to the line and
down he goes uh, And they tried to sign a
(05:33):
back injury, and tonight the I didn't. I didn't need
to see a replay. I didn't need to see it
a second time. It was in my timeline a ton
and certainly the game as and one of the criticisms
of the game and the telecast thus far has been
um kind of ignoring what's what's transpired in the timeline,
going back to Sunday's game. But you know, as you
(05:56):
described a little earlier in the show, when you talk
about his hands in front of his face and and
bad like, the initial reaction was, oh, he landed on
his hand. It might have broken a finger. And then
you see a replay and you recoil and horror. Yeah,
you know when when you see his finger and that, honestly,
that didn't get me. I wasn't thinking about, oh he
(06:17):
broke his hand. I knew it was something more than that,
because you know, look when you see pictures of two
A throw in the football right his right uh, thumb
is bent at an angle, Like, how do you get
it that close to your palm? How does your your
finger bend that close to your palm when you're throwing
the football. It's just a thing he does. So I
always knew I was. You know, his fingers. You know
(06:38):
that this is that's like a reactionary thing. I'm like,
how do you put Like I'm trying to do it
right now and it hurts my thumb trying to put
in that position. So I knew it wasn't a finger.
It's like, oh his finger he broke read No, just
see him laying there with his hands that way. I knew, No,
this is bigger than that. This is he's out He
is out right something. When you see the first shot
of it and then he's rolling, he's on his act
(07:00):
and you see the hands come up over his face,
that's when it really resonates as to how severe the
situation got just that fast. Uh. The NFL p A
has just put out a statement on the two A
tongue of v lowest situation A read you verbatim Uh
the statement, and then we're gonna break it down. Player
health and safety is at the core of the union's mission.
(07:23):
Our concern tonight is for Tua, and we hope for
a full and speedy recovery. Our investigation into the potential
protocol violation is ongoing, so I'm glad to hear that
this is going to continue. Obviously it has to continue,
and I told you it needs to be above board.
It can't be something where the NFL controls the investigation
and we hear snippets here and there like they've done
(07:44):
so many times in the past. It's pretty simple. You
already seeing the outpouring of opinions from doctors, from current players,
from former players everywhere on social media. That's all anybody
is talking about. It's all the players are talking about.
The top trending topics in the United States right now,
(08:05):
United States on Twitter, Dolphins, Teddy, prayers for Tuah Damn
tah Tee Higgins, dolphs TOAs the tah is to Uh.
And then you get to mc fierce and now I'm
into fifteen and sixteen where it's Wattle and the other players.
But you're talking about the top ten topics are all
about to end his health. Right, So you've seen this,
(08:26):
you see what the reaction is. You know what tomorrow
is going to be. It's gonna be more players on
television emoting very very drastically about this situation. You're gonna
hear players tell their own stories about concussions and now
they need to be saved from themselves. This is going
to be a really bad blank storm for the NFL tomorrow.
And it's a pretty simple a question for them. You
(08:50):
can either say we're gonna do everything to take care
of concussions right now, or or or you're never gonna
do it. I mean, this is the time to do that.
This is the time to say we can. We have
to do whatever we can to end concussions. We have
to do that now. And if we find that whatever
the Dolphins did to enable him to get back out
(09:10):
on the field, if that means people lose their jobs.
People lose their jobs, means Mike McDaniel loses his job,
means he loses his job, means Steven Ross is suspended
for another year. That's what has to happen. If it
means that, you know what all these turf fields were
tearing them all up. All the turf fields are gonna
be gone. Everybody's gotta put in grass, and you gotta
spend an extra little bit of money because we know
how much money everybody makes, you know, so make it
(09:31):
a little bit easier for people. Because we don't want
these these concussions on turf. All these things are gonna
have to be done. The NFL has got a decision
to make. Do you want to end concussions or not?
Do you really want It's nice that you're doing the
the helmets during the preseason. It's nice you've at least
identified it. You've given payouts to people, you know that
there's an issue, and you're working at it. I get
all of these things, but this is where it's pretty simple.
(09:54):
Do you want to do all you can to end concussions,
which is the biggest problem you're the biggest on field
problem that your product is facing, or did not want
to do it. It's it's pretty simple. You now have
to go all in with everything. You have to make
sure that this is not an overriding story to make
sure that nobody does What happened tonight and how to
(10:14):
was able to sneak back on the field on a
Thursday night and not have the NFL turn around and say, oh,
I don't know about that. Really they were, you know
they he was in protocol? He was not. He was that.
It's a pretty simple question and the NFL has got
to answer the right way. Well, and that's the larger
question that now fall falls out from a what investigation
was done between Sunday and two? Taking the field today
(10:38):
and again, you know, we're we're a couple of radio
hosts fans and obviously watch it with a little different eye, uh,
in the business that we were in, and and trying
to take all of the information in and and all
the experience and stories and and documentation that we've seen
through the years and and people we know that in
(10:59):
play and being part of the league, um, and we
take that all in and just trying to make sense
of what the proto protocols are supposed to do, you know,
what their objective is. And even on Sunday, it didn't
seem And this is me, I'll speak for myself that
none of that made any sense. Trying to sell me
that it was just as back and again I have
(11:22):
to defer to the medical people that allegedly went through
the protocols, and that's why there's an investigation. But the
question that flows out is how does he get on
the field if the investigation is still pending? Right? And yeah, no,
because you're right, because here's the here's the other question
is about him not being in concussion protocol, because if
(11:44):
you put him in concussion protocol, right, let's another reason.
How this was miss hamblin Why this is not backseat
guessing the to a situation. This was how did the
guy get out there in the first place? And there's
you know, look, there was many schools of thought. Many
people said, how is he even going to be playing
after that hit on Sunday? Is that if you put
him in concussion protocol, right, don't you leave yourself open
(12:05):
to Wait, then, if he's in concussion protocol, how did
you bring him back in the game on Sunday? So like,
he's in protocol now, but you missed it on Sunday,
you missed unsing him that way, I mean, you open
yourself up to that. So I can see where this gets,
how this gets out of control from well, he wasn't
in protocol, he wasn't there. But now, okay, well, now
if we put him in protocol, then it looks even
(12:27):
worse for us. So let's just go bypass the protocol. Now,
So all these different regulations and these benchmarks and these
emergency breaks that could have been throne, you're just blowing
right past him now because that was a big one.
But if he's in protocol, he's got a clear and
say no. But if we put him in protocol, that
might leave us open to something because we put him
back in the game on Sunday. Well, but symptoms can
present later. You know, not to to go too deep.
(12:49):
But you know it didn't need to present in the
moment right that it presented as a back injury or
however you wanted to talk about it. And then the
next day and again it's not a cover your ass situation,
and or shouldn't be. But then once he's in protocol,
then now you follow it from there. Never putting him
in potentially open open you up to all sorts of
(13:11):
disastrous consequences. And then we saw the big hit and
the results tonight. Be sure to catch live editions of
The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten
pm Eastern seven pm Pacific Fox Sports Radio The Jason
Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon. We could
talk about how complicated other banks make it to redeem
(13:31):
credit card rewards, or we could talk about how with
Discover you can redeem rewards for cash and any amount
at anytime. I mean talk about amazing learn more at
discovered dot com slash redeem rewards terms they do apply. Well.
If you want the best news of the night, I
have it for you right now. Coming off Thursday night
football Dolphins and the Bengals. It's a final. There is
(13:53):
only one undefeated team left in the National Football It
is the Philadelphia Eagles after the Bengals win at to fifteen.
But the two a tongue of I lowest story overshadowing
everything is he left the game tonight after getting slammed
to the turf by a sack, a very difficult injury
to watch. He hit his head on the ground. His
(14:14):
hands went up over his face immediately following the injury,
which is a very big neurological sign that there's something wrong.
He was taken to the hospital. He had movements in
all his extremities and now, according to many sources, to
is expected to be discharged from the hospital and the
Dolphins believe he'll return to Miami with the team. This
(14:38):
is initially reported on the broadcast on Amazon. So it
looks like to A is gonna get to fly home
with the Dolphins tonight. Uh following the game. Now, well,
how does this happen? Uh? Does he get to fly?
It's good news, he gets to fly home, right, I
mean it's good you don't keep him for observation. Well,
apparently the dot Well you really think the doctors and
Cincinnati are in on some kind of No, no, just no,
(15:02):
I'm not saying that at all. I'm look, obviously, medical experts,
et cetera. It just seems what we saw to come
back less than three hours later and he's discharged, you
got all the tests you needed, you got all. I
don't know, And well, look, I I assume they're going
to release him to medical person. It's not like handing
(15:25):
out somebody pick you up, you know, getting on a
plane right away. I I don't know, And it strikes me,
it strikes me as as really odd. Uh yeah, you know,
you look at we're we're gonna, you know, when when
the doctor calls him, we're gonna talk to him. I mean,
I I don't know the the the ins and outs
of of how much you can fly, what what it's
(15:46):
you know, when you get a value for head injury,
can you not fly home? Does it is that something
that affects not? I don't know, you know, I have
no idea, and I assume that could be different for
a lot of people. Now. The one thing I'm hoping,
because I'm hoping that you obviously look, you want to
think the two got great care in a hospital Cincinnati.
They're letting him go, is that maybe it's not as
(16:07):
severe as they thought it was going to be. That
the head injury that happened wasn't. Oh that this is
now something that he's gonna be you know, we can't
turn a light on for three weeks since gonna I'm
hoping that at least it's an injury that he'll be
able to recover from in a timely fashion. That's what
I'm hoping for. I don't want, man, you just put
(16:27):
it in my head that now any hospital you go to,
they're just gonna see me and just let me go
for note, Yeah, you're done here. Here takes some aspen is.
Somebody comes coming to get you outside. When have you
ever gotten a full evaluation on anything within that timeframe
of like two hours? I I don't sometimes just way
too quick. It takes me two hours just to see
the dot. But you know, but look, and obviously he's
(16:48):
gonna get immediate treatment. He's gonna get the level one
trauma that he went into. We had all those reports
getting the best care. There's no question about that. I'm
certainly not. I'm just questioning the end game of all right,
you're released and you're gonna travel back tonight. It just
seems people get held and again, athletes different standards. You've
(17:11):
got a team of professionals on staff, etcetera, which are
always already being called into question. If I can remind
us of what the problem we're having with this entire
sequence of events going back to Sunday, but that you're
you have a head injury, right, we can all stipulate
that that's what happened tonight. Whatever you think of what
(17:33):
happened on Sunday, will take them as independent events. For
for the discussion we're having here. We saw what we
saw on the field, and you're discharged and allowed to
fly even with medical personnelity. It still strikes me as
very odd. It does, but I can't believe that this
is gonna be done, and it's something that's detrimental to
(17:54):
us well. But we always talk about optics of things, Jason, right,
and and let's for the NFL, for the Dolphins, for
everybody involved. Right now, a lot of what has gone
on since that hit occurred is bringing in the events
of Sunday, the seeming seemingly um callous indifference if you
(18:17):
want to go to the extreme versus the quick get
back on the field because he says he's ready to go,
and not protecting him from himself. That's you're getting from
a lot of current and former players right of the
need to be back on the field and you know,
wanting to do your part. And even today, you know,
Mike McDaniel cited on the broadcast to say a toua
(18:40):
was asking about the play and everything else after the
incident on the field. But owing to all of that,
the NFL, as we've talked about for years on this program,
when it comes to the optics of handling of situations,
this one just doesn't feel right given all of the
back round leading up to that moment. Sure, sure, Well, hey, look,
(19:03):
releasing him to the Dolphins if you want to call
that into question, because I don't know I did. I
don't know that I would wantalla part of it. We're
already looking to investigate, has already launched an investigation into
how they handled this entire process. Yeah, go home with them,
these are the people response. I'm not going with them.
I'm gonna go with somebody else. But again and again,
I'm not a doctor, I'm not trying to be one.
(19:25):
But if leaving the game with head and neck injuries,
maybe this tells me that the injury he suffered wasn't
a concussion, that there was no evidence of a concussion.
It was a head injury of some kind, but it
didn't get to the point where was a full concussion. Now,
I'm sure they saw him right when they brought him in.
You know, this is now a couple of hours, you know,
at least since having I'm sure you know he didn't
(19:45):
go have to sit in the waiting room. You know,
you're not walking in with a with a sore throat
and you go, oh wow, that's too it just sitting
there in his Dolphins jersey icebag is that, so I'm sure,
you know, I want to I want to think that
he got the best and the right care and he's
able to do this, and I'm hopeful that that's what
this means, is that the injury didn't turn out to
be as serious as it could have been. And when
(20:06):
you see it on TV, it looks really bad and
you put him back out there for a for a
head injury that was just you're playing with the guy's life. Well,
the fact that he was that responsive quickly and we
got those reports, yeah, like you know it was it
was not what it was when he was carded off,
so certainly we already knew there was Um, I guess
(20:27):
the hope for better news bright and and and you know,
getting the news now, it seems good And I would
like to think that maybe this is going to be
a speedy recovery for him, that if they're letting him
go and letting him fly, they don't let you know
when whenever you go to a to a hospital and
you get checked out for something that sounds serious, right,
any any time you have to go to a hospital,
it's not a scheduled visit, you have no idea what
(20:48):
it is, right, it's a little scary because you don't
know what it could be. Why, why is why is
this happening? I don't know. Look when I had my
kidney stones, I was scared out of my mind going
to the hospital. The pain was so intense, and I
don't know what it is. Is Is my appendix rupturing? Is
it rupturing? Here in the car? And I'm yelling at
Pam go through red lights and like, why are you stopping?
You don't stop at red lights when you drive normally.
(21:10):
Why are you stopping at red lights? Now? Are you
trying to kill me? Where is the insurance? Where is
the insurance? You know, you don't know because it's scary.
And then they come back and go, Okay, it's kidney
stones like that, it's painful, it's this, it's that, it's that.
So I get it, and they discharged me that night, right,
And it happens to a lot of people. That's just
my story, I'm sure other people. I go in, I
didn't know what happened to me. I was feeling lightheaded,
I was, and I don't know, and I fell and
(21:31):
I fainted. What is it? And you go in and
you think there's all these kinds of things that could
be wrong, and they just go, hey, you are dehydrated.
Drink some water. Drink a little bit more water. Oh,
that's all it is, okay. So I'm hopeful that that's
kind of what it was. They brought him in all right,
the head and neck injury they did. They did a
full mark up on him and did what they needed
to do and said, okay, there's no concussion. We're looking
at the x rays right now. Two is a pretty
(21:53):
high profile patient when they brought him in. You know,
he's that that's like, you know, you're bringing in the president,
you're bringing in a senator, you're bringing in you know,
somebody that's a big dignitary. Today, something happened and we
need to look at them right now. So he's a
pretty high profile patient in Cincinnati on a Thursday night.
So I am hopeful that that's what it was, and
that this injury isn't going to be that bad for
(22:14):
him and it is going to be a better recovery form. Now,
it doesn't change anything else when it comes to the
investigation of this, and and guys in Miami and the
Dolphins are gonna lose their jobs and probably they should.
This investigation needs to be very above board. It can't
be hidden at all. But I'm hoping that for that
part of it okay too. We can go back. This
(22:34):
is not something where he had to stay. He's gonna
be in a bed for a while and and I
don't know, maybe he'll be able to play in a week.
With ten days, he'll be able to do it. I
don't know, but I gotta think this is a good sign.
Without knowing, I have to think this is a good sign.

NFL on Fox Insider Extraordinaire J Glazer Bengals beat the
Dolphins fifteen, but remember it's just a game. The health
of to a tongue of Ilola has been front and center.
We know now he can travel back with the Dolphins
tonight after that scary head and neck injury. J uh. First,
(24:01):
let me just say what's going through your your mind
right now when you think about what happened everything went
on with two of tonight. Well, you know what, My
first and foremost that he's okay. That's the first and foremost, right.
And look, I've been in the fight game for a while,
so I've seen some really gnarly uh and injuries and
knockouts and I have unfortunately been um been a victim
(24:24):
of one of those myself and a bad boxing match
that didn't go my way one time. Um that was
a two months or for me. UM. And they're scary,
and you know, you you look at it and just
on the surface and it's kind of its kind of
I want to walk a fine liner because on the surface,
you're look at and go, how's this guy possibly in
(24:46):
the game. But when they say look, you get a
back injury. So I understand that part too, right, because
my back has been so screwed up. I wobble around
and I can't get up. And at the same time,
he was cleared. I an unaffiliated, like an independent ner
a trauma consultant last week, right, so he liked re
(25:08):
entered the game that he they have an independent first
of the sideline, you have to get cleared by them.
So you know, if he had a concussion, how did
he get how did he get cleared there? Because here's
the other thing. I thought that the hit to put
him out today was not the hit where man, normally
(25:29):
some we would have that bad of a concussion. So
it doesn't make me believe that he was going in
with one. It does, but I I can't say that,
you know, I'm not I'm not the doctor there, so
I can't say that profoundly, right, But man, it wasn't
like he got picked up and body slammed and man,
and the way his his hands locked up, um, it
(25:51):
was scary. And you know, obviously you know they put
all this in there, Aaron's sign of cost it did
they there's not a caution for him. They really make
sure his safety was was first and foremost. But but
the other part two was like I get it to
like it wasn't really is back because we've all had
(26:14):
look a lot of people out there find here that
they go, oh man, we've had back you know, situations
where you can't stand up and you know, so it's
just it's, um, I'm just trying to choose my word carefully,
you guys, because I honestly don't know the truth. And
that's why, well, no, we didn't have a back injury,
or if he really did a cushion and they just
(26:38):
you know, to what they have to to get him
back out there, and then that's wrong. So I don't
know the answered that I don't know. Yeah, that's the
difficulty of it, right, going back to Sunday and the
timeline as it flows from from the hit and the
initial body response and the pointing to the head and
and and all of those things. Jay, I'm surprised at
the latest news that that Jason watch you in with
(27:00):
that he's being discharged and being allowed to fly back
tonight given the severity of what we saw in the field. Yeah, yeah,
his hands locked up and and yeah he was looked
like he was knocked out. And just I'm not surprised
looking put their neck injury and I'm surprised I let
(27:20):
him fly if it's the head and dura, I'm not
so again, Man, I don't know the truth. And that's
why I'm trying to um, I'm just chusing about work carefully,
he because I don't. I don't know. And look, if
you look at it and go, common sense will tell
you this, right, So common sense will tell you many
(27:43):
d got knocked out last week to put him in
four days later should have been out there. But I
don't know if what my eyes saw was what really happened,
because I've also seen people with you know, and myself
included was really bad back situations where I can't stand
and I can't put your weight on my legs and
it looks like I'm punched drunk and and um, but
(28:05):
it's just not the case. But I don't know. Man,
this one to me, because of how white the hit was,
it would can I would probably tend to say, man,
that's doing ding going in and look in a fight game,
so I'll put in my other realm and the fight game.
We could always tell when a guy goes in a
(28:27):
fight and your lady custom but he gets like touched
and all of a sudden he's out, and we all know, man,
he got ding the practice because we also like in
practice a lot of times we'll get ding and listen.
We're better now, but back in the day, we used
to get like ding or knocked out and we would
pull you off to the side and we continue fight
practice and you come back to that kag but you know,
(28:50):
luck to leave. We're a lot more advocated now than
we used to be. But it's also why I am
such a punchy moron, you know, because we're going and
things like this. Back today, I didn't know any better,
but we didn't know better. But that's what we're talking about.
And a lot of NFL players j since this happened today,
talking about, hey, protect guys from themselves, and that discourse
(29:12):
has begun as well. Well. We really like that. We
we we we're just like, hey, uh, you know, we
tould you off to sometimes you pull you off the side,
take the day off, you come back the next day.
And you're just like, hey, how do you feeling that?
Like I feel like crapp Okay, but no, right, yeah
we can go Okay, we're good. Right, So yeah, you
(29:33):
gotta protect the athletes from themselves. And the big question
here is was this athlete protected? That's the question I
can answer for you. That's why there's an investigation. Was
just athlete protected? If he wasn't protected? Oh man, heads
your role and something's gonna be done. If he was protected,
(29:57):
is it's the best protocol that we have right now?
Because again, it just looked to me, and I don't
like it's just man. Like I said, it looked like
one of those things were Again, if it was a
fighter and all of a sudden you see him take
a jab and he goes down, You're like, oh man,
this guy's ding going in. That's kind of what it
seemed like to me. But I don't Again, I don't
(30:20):
know how that's the slippery slippery slope for me to
get into because I don't know the answer. But all right,
but the answer is we need to go above and
beyond to protect our athletes from themselves. That's the bottom luck.
Don't don't even give somebody an option like, Man, maybe
(30:40):
maybe we have to go a little bit further. I
don't know. Well, Jay, lastly, let's let's let's go there.
What do you expect to happen? Now? Obviously we've heard
the NFL there's going to be some kind investigation. How
do you expect the next coming days weeks surrounding this story?
What do you expect to happen? Uh? Them is like
the investigation? Like who's running the investigation? How do we
(31:03):
really hear the truth? If the kid is saying one
thing or a team of saying that. The thing that
gets me is the independent neurological consultant goes there. That
cleared up that kind of that's really like okay, well
how did what did he see? So I don't know
if you're really ever gonna get the real story. That's
that's be sure to catch live editions of The Jason
Smith Show with Mike Harman weekdays at ten pm Eastern,
(31:26):
seven pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the I
Heart Radio app Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show
with my best friend Mike Harmon and Uh, hold onto
your hats for a second, because we'll have more on
to a tongue of Valoa coming up in a few minutes.
Mike McDaniel, Dolphins head coach, meeting the media as we speak.
(31:47):
The good news is it looks like two is going
to be able to fly home with the Dolphins after
a scary head injury four days after a previous scary
head injury. And what did the Dolphins do or not
do but get ready for this has right now? Show Hey, o,
Tani is six outs away from a no hitter. He
(32:08):
is just well, I gotta say it. I mean, I
can't Steve de Seger. Hey. Through three innings, so and
so is perfect for you know, nine up nine no
no no? Uh? Show Hey, Otani through seven innings has
a no hitter, Angels lead the A's four to nothing.
Otani also has driven in a run tonight, so he's
doing everything If he throws a no hitter, is he
(32:28):
the m D P eight seven seven? Yeah, I don't know.
I think Judge sixty one trump's Otani no hitter. But
it looks like Otani's gonna get a chance to go
back out there to get it because he is only
at eighty seven pitches. Uh. He has nine strikeouts, uh,
fifty six strikes so he's definitely gonna get at least
the eighth and most likely as long as it's not
(32:51):
an incredible and a laboring eighth inning, he'll get to
go back out there if he is still a no
hitter through eight. Now, he did walk Ken uh, only
blend Tony Kemp Matt, No, that would be some We've
walked Mat Kemp um Uh. He did walk Tony Kemp
earlier in the game, and that is the only blemish
(33:12):
on his mark right now, as he has retired every
other batter in the eighth order. So I ask you
right now, Mike Carmen, yes or no? Does he get it?
Does Otani get the no hitter? I'm gonna say he does.
And we're talking about to and Otani for the next
couple of hours. Well, since you're the one talking about it,
it's done. Ye chance. By the way, he looks resplendent
(33:35):
in this uniform. I kinda dig this font. Oh the
angels fonto Yeah, the font, dude, the font, the font,
the FONTA that angel's font is pretty fun. Yeah, I'm
a broadcast professional. That's what we do here. It's like
a throwback sixties. It looks like, uh like how would
be written on a on a snow cone or something,
(33:55):
or on a bomb. Yeah, yeah, No, I kind of
dig that. I like the that's that's ane, that's a
nice logo, that's clean. That. So I'm gonna I'm gonna
say he gets it because this is not a great
a's lineup. And sure anybody can get it hit at
any time, but uh, this is Otani through seven innings.
(34:15):
The pitch count is there, it's he's not gonna get rattled. Uh.
And now he just got a hit. Uh. So now
he's got two hits tonight, and and he's got a
run driven in. Jason, you know, we've had a lot
of times this uh this season where guys have gone
into the ladings with no hitters haven't gotten it. I'm
gonna say, Ohtani gets it. Look at you. That would
be great. I mean it would be great for baseball.
(34:37):
We need more big stories, yes, especially from teams that
have well nothing to play for. So big question, big question,
real quick, Jason ahead, If he gets the no hitter,
he's the m v P of the American League. Correct.
If he gets the no hitter, he is definitively will
finish second in m v p voting the arrange. Well,
he's no, no, no, he's the all time best two
(34:59):
way play or in Major League Baseball history if he
gets the no hitter. Can we make up all right? Sorry,
we're doing all time lists and whatever all day. Kept,
let's make up that new award. I hear the best
two way player of a grade. Okay, this is like
when you're in fifth grade, and like, all right, can
we make up an individual trophy for all thirty kids? Yes,
(35:21):
this was the most improved player. This was player with
the most heart. This is a player player with the
most skills, best free throw shooter, best three point Shooter's
what do I get? I mean, where do I get
my disc out? You gotta buy fifteen trophies? I only
have seven kids on the team when we play, you know,
(35:42):
we really short bench, Like you know what you gotta have,
you know another eight best dubs and best fan and
attendance to the best because otherwise I don't get that
price break. Hey, there's a mom who helped me so
much setting up the shutterfly account for to keep contact
with everyone. So here's your trophy for the year. I
gave you a blank name plate and a sharpie so
(36:05):
you can fill it in yourself because engraving was extra
Thanks to Kayla's mom for all the help that here.
Here you go, here's your trophy. Uh. Twitter and out
about a fresca. Mike and Swollen Dome will have more
on show. Heyotani again, six outs away from a no hitter,
but you will hear from Dolphin's head coach Mike McDaniel.
Coming up next the absolute latest on the twa tonguel
(36:27):
volo a situation. Keep it right here. The story is
ongoing and developing. This is Fox Sports Radio
