Speaker 2 (01:03):
Now. Speaking of content, yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:07):
This debate has been well outside of the college, the
the the coaches being fighter in the NFL, and where
John Harball is gonna go and where Kevin Stefans He's
gonna go.
Speaker 2 (01:17):
Where these guys are gonna wind up.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
This has been an overwhelming topic of the last twenty
four hours, and it's really fascinating because of the the
way that college football has changed just in the course
of the past four years. And you heard this kind
of salvo was set off by college football analyst Todd
McShay a few days ago when he said, well, if
I'm Dante More Oregon quarterback and then, you know, getting
(01:41):
ready for the semi final against Indiana two days from now, Hey, hey,
if I was in I'd call the Raiders and say, hey,
if you're not gonna take me number one. Overall, I'm
going back to school. I can make seven to ten
million dollars next year because I'm that good, and I'll
get another shot at it next year.
Speaker 2 (01:55):
I don't want to go to.
Speaker 1 (01:56):
The Jets, who are gonna ruin me because they ruin quarterbacks.
First of all, Yeah, I get that, But the Raiders
ruined quarterbacks too, So I get that. Todd McShay is
just mad because Joe Douglas is his friend and the
Jets fired Joe Douglass. I get it, but it's not
like he's saying, oh the forty I call the forty
nine ers. If you're not gonna go, the Raiders are
the biggest train wreck alongside the Jets. Okay, so I
(02:18):
understand that.
Speaker 3 (02:18):
But you saw one of your guys clap back, yeah
at one of the other screaming individuals in our media business,
Garrett Wilson standing up, going what the hell are you
talking about?
Speaker 1 (02:29):
Yeah, I used to like those shows. Yeah, I like
those shows anyway, Digging Gared Wilson, Digging Garrett Wilson to
hot take nonsense. You shouldn't have been out on those
a long while ago. But yeah, and that's why I've
always you know, look, I've always had a thing for
Garrett Wilson because, no matter how bad things are, he
has always been this is the team that believed in me.
I want to stay. They paid me, this is I'm
(02:51):
staying here. And I think that's pretty cool, right, I
think that's really cool. But okay, so here's the whole
thing about Dantemo. Now, oh, going back, don't go to
the Jets. Don't go to the Jets. The Raid suck
just as much, okay, if not more, so, stop with
that crap. And then today Joel Klatt came on the
Herd with Colin cat look at Joel Clatt's great college
football linels. I disagree completely with what he had to
(03:14):
say today. I thought it was it was really off
the market. I thought it was more hot take issue.
This is but playoff take. This is no, no, no,
this is Joel Clatt when he talks about on the
Herd earlier today talking about the advice he would give
Dante Moore right now about going to the NFL or
going back to college. And here's Joel Klatt cla.
Speaker 2 (03:32):
Can you tell me about Oregon quarterback Dalton cor Dante Moore? Yeah, whatever,
my produci will get it right.
Speaker 4 (03:40):
If Dante Moore called me today and he said, hey,
like what should I do?
Speaker 2 (03:45):
I wouldn't blink an eye.
Speaker 4 (03:46):
I would say go back to school because it's no
longer just a financial decision. He can make life changing
money at Oregon much less than National Football League, and
getting extra starts prepares you for what you could potentially have,
which is a long NFL career because you.
Speaker 2 (04:01):
Want to get to the second contract.
Speaker 4 (04:03):
That's when it really matters for you in the National
Football League. And we're starting to see, by the way,
in the last couple of years, experience at that position
and experienced teams in general are the ones that are
winning in the postseason. Look at Indiana, you got experience
the loyok at Ohio State last year.
Speaker 1 (04:18):
Okay, Now I understand him in theory. I think I
sound like you in theory. But he's incredibly wrong with
Dante Moore. Right, if you're a guy like ty Simpson, Okay,
like ty Simpson, sound to remember that name, Like he
decided to go to the NFL today out of Alabama.
He had a really good year, not a great last
(04:39):
half of the year, but according to his dad, he
got nothing less than the first round grade. All right,
probably someone will take him, maybe in the first round.
Like I'm not all in on ty Simpson, but a
guy like that, I get there's a question about because Okay,
if you could be going in the first round, but
it doesn't mean that you're gonna get taken in the
first round. Just because teams are telling you first round grade,
(04:59):
first round grade, doesn't mean you're getting taken in the
first round. Right, So a guy like Ty Simpson, I
get the debate of I could go back to Alabama
and make another seven ten million dollars in aile money
I could transfer to another school. Look, Carson Beck did
it right now, look at him in the College football
Playoffs semi final.
Speaker 2 (05:16):
He made way. I think seven million dollars going to Miami.
Speaker 1 (05:19):
Like for a guy like Ty Simpson, I get it right, Like,
what's my contract going to be like getting drafted there?
I want to be able to get drafted higher so
I can make more. Forget about your second contract, man,
worry about your first bleep in contract, Joel Platt, what
second condt?
Speaker 2 (05:32):
Dude?
Speaker 1 (05:32):
Worry about your firzie. If you're good enough, you'll get
that second contract.
Speaker 5 (05:35):
Right.
Speaker 1 (05:35):
This is where Joel Klatt's completely off base. Dante Moore
will go no lower than number two in the NFL draft, right,
could both top two teams need quarterbacks? Maybe the Raiders
side to take him number one, great, If not, the
Jets take him number two. Yes, life changing money going
back to Oregon for one year and let's just let's
just say the top end of the he gets ten
million dollars going back to Oregon. Right, leading them as
(05:57):
far as he does in the playoffs this year, he
gets ten millillion dollars next year. That's great. That's a
one year, ten million dollar contract. You know what the
average salary is for a guy getting taken number two
overall in the draft. It's four years and fifty million dollars.
In no world is what Joe Klatt said makes sense.
If I said to you, hey, what would you rather have,
Mike Carman, I can give you ten million dollars for
(06:19):
next year, or I can get you fifty million dollars
in the next four years. Well, if I take the
one year deal, what do I get after that? Well,
nobody knows. It's not guaranteed. But you can get me
four years and fifty million. Yeah, oh, I'll take that.
That is much bigger, life changing money. It depends on where.
If you're at the top of the draft, when the
NFL wants you, you go. This is when they're saying,
this is when you're gonna be a star. You're gonna
(06:41):
be the number two overall pick. Not only are you
gonna get that life changing money, you are gonna get
every chance to succeed on your team. Because you're taking
number two overall. You're not a second round curiosity where
maybe you get a chance the back half of your
rookie year. If the bridge quarterback is not good. Look,
look a guy like Tyler Schuck who came in and
made the most of his opportunity. He was announced today
(07:02):
he's gonna be the Saint starter next year. Like, that's
where you are. If you're outside the first round, you're
a curiosity.
Speaker 5 (07:08):
Right.
Speaker 1 (07:08):
I understand all these teams. You know they may not
be great. Well, there's a reason why these teams taking
the top of the draft.
Speaker 2 (07:13):
They stink.
Speaker 1 (07:14):
If you're good, you'll get that second contract. Worry about
your first contract, first one that's gonna get you more money.
And again, when you're taking that high, you have more
than enough time to prove yourself. You're gonna get all
kinds of time. Whereas the lower you get drafted, the
less time you have to prove yourself. So I get
it for Joel Klatt. When you look at a situation
(07:35):
like Simpson or last year, going back to Kyle McCord
and Quinn, you weers right, if they had to do
it over again, would they have done something different? Maybe
because I could have gone back to college potentially and
made seven or eight million dollars that hit the draft
this year Because these guys got drafted in the sixth round. Now,
Quinn Ewers may get a chance to win the starting
job with Miami next year. If he had stayed another
year and he gets in a first round pick, guess
(07:56):
what he's going in as a franchise quarter.
Speaker 3 (07:58):
But either way, even if he wins that job, guess
what he's getting paid six round money for another three years.
Speaker 2 (08:03):
I mean, you're you're not do yourself any favors.
Speaker 3 (08:06):
Well, he doesn't have a four or five year deal,
but you get My point is that he's eventually maybe
he earns that money. But is he necessarily going to
get a shot, or is whoever's in charge of Miami,
whether it's McDaniel in his chosen GM, or if he
gets blown out for Harbor or whoever else is Quinn
your is the guy that they're gonna run with.
Speaker 1 (08:26):
No, they bring it their own guy in. There's no GM,
there's no The coaching situation may be in flux.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
I get it.
Speaker 3 (08:34):
You know, theoretically of you'll be a better quarterback, right,
we talk about quarterbacks starts and the perilous journey to
the NFL if you're less than a certain number, Right,
and that seems to be arbitrary as to where we're
trying to define that, where you have an opportunity and
they say, well, look at look at brock Perty and
well he went to a good organization late in a
(08:56):
draft as mister irrelevant, and it worked because he had
a great cast. It was if you're that guy, like
a Dante More, you're getting drafted in the first round,
second round. Okay, fine, four years it becomes twelve million,
and if you're a quarterback, you're gonna get a little
bit more. That was the top pick. That was Swetsinger
as the first pick in the second round this year.
(09:18):
Who's gonna win Defensive Rookie.
Speaker 1 (09:20):
Of the Year with his one hundred and eighty nine
tackles or whatever the hell it ended up being.
Speaker 2 (09:24):
All right, it was about one hundred and sixty.
Speaker 3 (09:26):
But all of that to say, if you're a quarterback,
you're getting taken early.
Speaker 2 (09:30):
And I think we've lost.
Speaker 1 (09:33):
Some of the narrative here because these guys are playing forever,
you know, the two hand touch commentary of the National
Football League and whatever else that we're seeing guys play
in the year twelve, year fourteen.
Speaker 3 (09:45):
To me, those are still outliers. Okay, we might be
seeing that becoming a trend over a long period of time,
But to me, guys like Aaron Rodgers, we look at
Rivers coming back, go back to the Mannings and Brady
in the those guys are still kind of outliers to thing. Right,
Lamar Jackson. As he gets to year eight, we're questioning
what he is anymore? Does he still have his superpowers?
(10:07):
Great numbers last I mean it was forty one and
four a year ago, showed points this year the way
that he can still be special, had himself a big
game with zape flowers down the field. But overall, if
he can't run anymore, does he still have this the cape?
Speaker 2 (10:21):
I don't know. Josh Allen, when does that fall off?
Speaker 3 (10:23):
He's in year eight, all these other guys, that's about
the time that we've seen usually a pretty rapid decline
in guy skills. Not to mention those guys that never
get out a year two or three because they get
broken in half. Right, last Jaden Daniels ask all these
guys it was looking great. Oh wait, no, all of that.
Speaker 1 (10:42):
So if you can go and get four like Travis
Huno we talked about yesterday, I got four years forty
seven million dollars as a wide, as a hybrid. We
don't know what he is. Quarterback gets more money. You said,
four years fifty million is the average, even if it's
a bad organization. Guess who's dropped in next year at
the top.
Speaker 2 (10:59):
Yeah, bad organization.
Speaker 3 (11:00):
So what are you gonna say, you know what, I
want to be drafted twenty third and go to an
organization that's stable, I'll four go thirty million dollars.
Speaker 2 (11:07):
Yeah to go. No, it's it's it's literally.
Speaker 1 (11:10):
Because here's the other risk is that next year is
a loaded quarterback in theory. Now you never know, but
in theory, next year is a loaded quarterback draft. So
Dante Moore might not go number two overall next year.
Maybe he's a guy that's late first round. Maybe he's
a guy second.
Speaker 2 (11:25):
You don't know.
Speaker 1 (11:25):
Because once once teams that don't need quarterbacks are they're
just rolling right through it.
Speaker 3 (11:29):
But if you're getting hurt, you have a down year,
you lose some of your weapons, or suddenly your numbers
are aren't as good and you look like, hey, wow,
now he's got a press. It's not coming as easy.
Teams get scared, right because everybody's trying to win draft
day back pages in the fish raps. And if the
guy looks like he's now a question, well, gms who
(11:50):
are not a very short leash anymore? How many teams? Oh,
Like we talked about it with Harball. Remember the four
years before Lamar Jackson showed up, he would have been gone.
That that would have been in the end of his run.
Right that super Bowl in twenty twelve. Local was a
million miles away at that point.
Speaker 1 (12:06):
So yeah, you look at your your opportunities, and look,
you can always go back to school, like if you
want to go play the old hey, it's still a
college game.
Speaker 3 (12:14):
Nonsense, long out the window. I can get a degree
sitting next to you in my underwear right now. If
it was a case of a player needing more to
prove stuff to the NFL, even then I would get
it right because you heard Joe Klatt say, well, you know,
(12:36):
quarterbacks go in there, better better chance succeed with your starts.
Speaker 2 (12:39):
No, that's it.
Speaker 1 (12:40):
I understand, we understand that the math made that part
of it, man, But I mean it's like you're looking
for reasons now to avoid the NFL with that that
that's where your that's your future, that's where you're going
to go make the money and and to worry about
your second contract. Like, dude, you worry about your second
contract if you're a third round pick or a fourth
(13:01):
round pick, where hey, you're not making like you need
that second contract to make that life change. Man, I
hit free agency and I got three years and thirty
five million dollars, right because I'm a pretty good player.
I didn't make a lot of money my first couple
of years. But you're going number two over on the draft,
Like I understand, Yeah, we are you gonna wait? Are
you gonna wait and say, well, I'm gonna pick my team.
I want to go to a team that needs a
quarterback and it's gonna beat No, that's not how it works.
Speaker 2 (13:23):
Man.
Speaker 1 (13:23):
Guess who's gonna be picking the top of the draft
next year? The Raiders and the Jets, it's the same Cardinals.
Speaker 2 (13:28):
All these teams will be there. You'll have one surprise
pop in.
Speaker 3 (13:31):
He goes, oh, that's kind of cool because looking with
the Giants are right now, they and Theory have some
things in the cupboard.
Speaker 2 (13:37):
But he had a guy also was in the concussion
ten seven times.
Speaker 1 (13:40):
And this is not the case where I'm stumping for
Dante Moore to go to the Jets. I like Dante more,
but if he doesn't come out, okay, the show goes on. No,
but it's we got somebody else we ertlay here, right
and like whoever? That is, Like any quarterback or if
you were a top ten, top twenty, like your first
round pick, you go, show goes about right. If you're
(14:01):
a quarterback and you're getting various draft if you just
don't like the college experience, Like there's a million things
and variables that go into this algorithm and equation for
each player.
Speaker 2 (14:13):
Are they happy with their situation? What's going on?
Speaker 3 (14:15):
Like dantein Moore right now, they're working to backfill him
right with the assumption that he leaves. So what's to
say they don't like the new guy more than they
like him?
Speaker 1 (14:26):
Exit about a Fresca exit swollen dome. Jason Smith Mike
Harmon live from the Fox Sports Radio Student, I'd be like,

completely wrong. We got more football on the way coming

why it's Tuesdays. It's two double up. It's two for Wednesday,
not one, but two incredible things that Jerry Jones said

today at the Cowboys end of season press conference. You'll
hear him next right here, Jason and Mike Fox Sports Radio.

Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Harmon.
Speaker 7 (15:44):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (15:45):
Listen to you.
Speaker 1 (15:48):
Late in the third quarter Marquee Game of the Night
in the NBA, Spurs lead the Lakers by twelve seventy
five sixty three. The Lakers, of course playing tonight with
Lebron James, who is basically he's resting because he's old.
It's out, there's no Hey, I got a little bit
of a dingna.
Speaker 7 (16:07):
Hey.
Speaker 1 (16:08):
Lebron even said, hey, second d to back to backs,
I'm forty one, you know, not doing it sitting out
because he is old. Luca's got thirty one for the
Lakers right now, but not enough as the Spurs are
up by twelve. It has been a big night, although
not for Wemby. Wemby just five points and sixteen minutes
off the bench, Sine starts to continues to get his
(16:30):
wind under him as he comes back. Fox and Castle
combined for twenty three. But this has been a Spurs. Hey,
we're running eleven guys, you know, playing minutes here in
this game, and we're just gonna continue to out youth
you here on the court.
Speaker 2 (16:44):
And that's kind of the way this game's been going.
Speaker 3 (16:46):
Make you run, and where you have your defensive lapses,
we will take advantage. They had some really cool plush
Wemby's that they just showed for sale in the team shop.
The I'm really proud of you though, you're showing growth
here in twenty twenty six already okay, because you didn't
try to jam in the marquee game of the night
dot dot dot the Knicks with.
Speaker 1 (17:06):
A win over the Cliff, Well, I feel about you,
which I really Come on, man, on what six of
eight or.
Speaker 2 (17:12):
Seven of eight? Come on?
Speaker 1 (17:14):
When the champs win a game, it's expected the Knicks.
Speaker 2 (17:17):
Or the champ. Again, I watched.
Speaker 1 (17:19):
I watched them with T shirts and hats and confetti.
Speaker 2 (17:23):
Then when the Champs win at home, okay, it happened.
All right.
Speaker 3 (17:27):
I'm really working to up my shoulder and arm strength
so I can undertaker choke slam you.
Speaker 1 (17:34):
When you reference the Emirates Cup championship just a championship now,
it's just a chance. It went from Emirates Cup to
e Cup. Now, it's just the championship, the champs. I
saw again. We all watched it happen that night.
Speaker 2 (17:49):
We watched that.
Speaker 1 (17:51):
We watch guys, honey, we saw it. No everybody watched it.
Nobody was there, everybody watch it on TV. The Uh okay,
all right, what I mean.
Speaker 2 (18:04):
You're an eliss celebrity. You want to come.
Speaker 1 (18:06):
Hey, We're gonna make sure the lights are really low
and you can only really see you sitting in the
first three rows of the arena FLCE.
Speaker 3 (18:13):
I felt like I was watching the WWE during COVID
when they were they were in the empty arena, and I.
Speaker 2 (18:20):
Was just black, yeah, yeah, yeah, And there's the rain. Now.
Speaker 1 (18:25):
Two incredible things that Jerry Jones said today at the
end of season Dallas Cowboys press conference. A couple of
that just just a man, one more amazing than the other.
So and the first thing he's gonna say, hearkens back
to what we said a day ago, is that you know,
at this point, the only way things change with the
(18:45):
Cowboys is if someone challenges Jerry Jones and the decisions
that he makes, because clearly they never rebounded from the
Micah Parsons decision. He played poker, he lost, he didn't
get the deal done, which tells me that Jerry Jones
losing his fastball a little bit. Uh and and the
Cowboys never got back from that.
Speaker 2 (19:03):
Right.
Speaker 1 (19:04):
They tried to get a defense together with tape and
super glue, and they were the worst defense in the
NFL the first eight weeks, but.
Speaker 2 (19:12):
Their offense was really really good.
Speaker 1 (19:14):
So at the deadline, we make a move for a play,
We trade away a couple of draft picks. But that's
okay because we got a couple of draft picks that
we in trading away Micah Parsons. So we brought in
a guy a defensive line, Quinn Williams is pretty good.
And what happened The Cowboys fell short. So all of
this smoke and mirrors at all that's moving around. What
did the Cowboys do? They traded a big, a great
player for a guy who's really good but not quite
(19:36):
that player. They traded a couple of draft picks. They
got a couple of draft picks and ended up where
they began, out of the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (19:42):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (19:42):
I still want more details of that back and forth.
I think there's still a lot of noise between Mugileta
and the agency and Jerry Jones. Remember he was the
power broker that got Deshaun wattson his money. So I
know a lot of owners still have angst and animals damp.
Speaker 2 (19:59):
Is it weird? I might be growing as well?
Speaker 3 (20:02):
Is that I felt bad at least a little bit
for Eberflus in this situation. Oh yeah, you spend that
offseason building a defense, all right, this is how we're
gonna be able to free him up and work this
to where and then ah, he's gone.
Speaker 1 (20:14):
You as a Bear fan, would only felt bad for
Eberflus because you're the number two seed. If you had
a bad year, you would say, good, my team sucks.
I'm glad he got I think there's something too easy yet,
person when you're the number two seed and go, yes,
I've moved on from you, Yes, I'm sorry, I moved
I moved on.
Speaker 2 (20:30):
I moved on. I don't love you anymore.
Speaker 1 (20:32):
It's like when you run into your ex at the
bar and you're with your new girlfriend who is who
is great, and.
Speaker 2 (20:37):
She's bead like, yes, sorry, I moved on.
Speaker 1 (20:38):
But if you run into your exit a bar you're
both single, it's like, yeah, I'm single, I'm glad you're
singling miserable?
Speaker 2 (20:44):
Yeah yeah, what's next that karaoke? Yeah yeah yeah?
Speaker 1 (20:49):
What So this is why we said last night, Dak
Prescott's the guy that's got to stand up and challenge
Jerry Jones and the moves he makes. All right, he's
got to be the one. He's the quarterback, he's got
the cachet. Nobody else is doing it. Brian Schottenheimer's not
doing it. Steven Jones doesn't do it. Nobody is challenging
these ridiculous decisions at Jerry Jones makes not that it's
(21:12):
definitely gonna change, but it couldn't hurt, and it might
be the only thing that gives Jerry Jones some checks
and balances. And I mean Dak Prescott being vocal in
the summer saying we have to get Micah Parson. Jerry's
got to sign micha Ah part. I don't care what happens.
He's got to do it whatever it is, because he's
a great leader. All his teammates talk about a great
leader Dak Prescott is and it's awesome. You read about
(21:32):
things he does off the page and it's really impressive.
But now he needs to be that vocal. I gotta
take care of my team and challenge Jerry Jones. We
said this last night, and now the first SoundBite you're
gonna hear from Jerry Jones is gonna tell you exactly
why Dak Prescott needs to stand up and say something.
Because well, when you hear Jerry give his answer about
Brian Schottenheimer and who he might hire his defensive coordinator,
(21:55):
you kind of get what I'm talking about.
Speaker 2 (21:57):
Boy shot down, and we get to hire his own coordinator.
Speaker 7 (22:00):
Trump just said it.
Speaker 2 (22:01):
I'm running.
Speaker 7 (22:04):
Venzuela, seriously shot. He had everything to do with Hir
and Madde before this last time, and that's not done.
I'm done as a negative. Had no way in the
world he's here. If Shot he didn't want him here. Okay,
let me be real clear about that, and he can
(22:25):
tell you in his own words, there no way in
the world if Steven didn't want him here. But I
particularly had a party when we got him. God.
Speaker 1 (22:34):
So just just in case, here's the thing. Venezuela is
the Cowboys. I'm Trump and I'm running Venezuela like I
may have I might have some other people. You know,
Steven could wind up being I don't know, Stevens could
be Marco Rubio and he's gonna run other things we haven't.
Speaker 2 (22:50):
But but I'm running.
Speaker 1 (22:51):
Like here's Jerry Jones saying, Okay, I'm running things. Will
shot he get to pick his own defensive coordinator. No,
I Am not let my head coach do it, because
I'm running things. I'm running things.
Speaker 2 (23:04):
I mean.
Speaker 3 (23:04):
The only time you could use that line and get
a laugh because like, wow, that diffuses left field.
Speaker 2 (23:10):
You did not see that coming through the door.
Speaker 1 (23:12):
And it kind of and it kind of feels like,
oh okay, like, did did it take a minute to
think of the country that Trump I'm running?
Speaker 5 (23:21):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (23:22):
Venezuela.
Speaker 1 (23:23):
He wanted to make sure real quick that he could
get away with it. Oh yeah, that's probably what the
pause was. Are people gonna laugh.
Speaker 2 (23:29):
Read the room?
Speaker 1 (23:31):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (23:31):
And he's not wrong. By the way.
Speaker 1 (23:32):
Look, anybody who doesn't laugh does not get a a
pass to come cover the Dallas Cowboys. Remember he is
an oil guy, Jason, Yeah, no, look I might be running.
Speaker 2 (23:44):
Jerry Jones running Venezuela.
Speaker 1 (23:46):
Uh so, uh well, he talked about those oil remember
that a couple of weeks ago.
Speaker 2 (23:51):
He was talking about the bast fields and whatever else.
Speaker 1 (23:54):
You off the plane waves everybody, I'm here right, and
I brought Romo with me, so he's gonna help. But
like this, this tells you I'm running things well. Brian Schottenheimer,
NFL head coach who knows a thing or two about
what he needs defensive coordinator. No, I'm running things me,
the guy that basically discovered after I had to trade
(24:15):
Micah Parsons. I'm gonna say, you need to stop the run.
I read it in the book. Yeah, you can't just
stop the pass in the NFL. Now apparently I didn't
know this, but uh, the quarterback and maybe you've got
to put more plays like this in the playbook. Quarterbacks
allowed to get the ball and not have to throw it.
But he can just hand it to a guy next
to him. Now we gotta line him up close enough
(24:35):
where you can hand him the football. I don't know
if you want to, you know, you want to risk
having to pitch the football out or something like that,
Like that's a I don't know that that could be
a turnover waiting to happen.
Speaker 2 (24:43):
But you could just.
Speaker 1 (24:44):
Hand the football to a guy, right, So I just
hand it to so he could just take it run.
Speaker 2 (24:49):
He doesn't have to throw the ball. He could d
I didn't know this, right, we sometimes a guy runs himself,
do that. I talk about this. This is just something
I just found out.
Speaker 1 (24:55):
I mean, like, this is this is how you're dealing
with Jerry Jones and the decisions that he makes. This
is why you need pushback because what is what did
Brian Schottenheimer do? He just laughed when Jerry Jones said that, right,
Like how embarrassed. Did you feel for Brian Schottenheimer. Seen,
they're going, here's a head coach who is getting his
knee getting cut off.
Speaker 2 (25:15):
But we watched those guys for year.
Speaker 1 (25:17):
But no, but having to sit next to Jerry Jones
while he is saying it, He's got to sit there there,
Jones grub I'm running things.
Speaker 5 (25:23):
Ha ha ha ha.
Speaker 1 (25:24):
Well, well it's one of thirty two. This is one
of thirty two. Jot's all Shotenheimer's. It's one of thirty
two and one third two. Like, that's embarrassing for Brian
shottenn Iron. Somebody's got it. If nobody stands up to
Jerry Jones, it's just gonna continue this cycle that the
Cowboys have been.
Speaker 3 (25:38):
Yeah, I mean one of the failures is the fact
that Troy Aikman's going to work with Miami as opposed
to being in that building as well. Right, Like you've
got a bunch of those ex players him in particular,
that should have been on some advisory panel. But I
think Schottenheimer is also lookingu he's the only one of
the thirty two that wanted to give me a shot.
So I can only do so much. And maybe on
(26:01):
some level he thought it was kind of funny until
it got to the no. I called the shots and
endgame of it all. And if you're shot and army,
you recognize what you bought into. You've watched this as
you've been around the league since you were a baby.
You've watched Jerry Jones at work and look to a
large degree, and this is where in his madness, I
(26:23):
defend it. They're still more successful than virtually every other
organization in.
Speaker 2 (26:28):
This century, now in this last forty years.
Speaker 1 (26:31):
I'm because even with ten and eleven win seasons, everybody
was crying that John Harbaugh got fired.
Speaker 3 (26:37):
Over his ten or eleven win seasons. Jerry's had a
bunch of them, but it wasn't good enough. Which which
is it?
Speaker 1 (26:43):
Well, Okay, I'm glad you brought up success because Jerry
Jones talked about success. He brought up success because he obsession.
He talked about what he wants to He wants to retire.
He actually said, I want to retire. Now, what does
Jerry Jones want to do before he retires?
Speaker 7 (26:59):
Well that this My goal in life is to retire
as the owner that won the most Super Bowls. That's
my goal to be retired in the NFL as the
owner that won the most Super Bowls.
Speaker 2 (27:14):
We've got three.
Speaker 7 (27:15):
How many more would I have to go as a
single owner. Bob's got him many six. So I've got it.
I've got work to do, got work to do. I
got work to do. But at least I'm up to
the second rung in the ladder.
Speaker 1 (27:29):
And just just you know, so we know here, I
found out we have won the super Bowl in thirty years.
So the three came really really early, and we're just
not really a draft.
Speaker 2 (27:39):
Don't call it a drought.
Speaker 1 (27:40):
I don't call it that, but you know three, I
just got four more to go, even though I haven't
won in thirty years. Forget about getting one. I want
to get four before I retire. When are you gonna retire, Jerry?
When I'm one hundred and seventeen years old, I'm gonna retire,
and I'm retire as owner of the Cowboy. Steven's gonna
run things, and and then and then you're you're gonna
see I'm gonna try to find a new body to
get into and come back, kind of like that Freaky
(28:02):
Friday with the low hand girl and uh uh and
then the one from the from the from the movie
where she won where she was getting chased by the
by the guy in the mask all the time, Uh,
the everything, everywhere, everything, everything at once. And then the
Meyers kid comes in and she shoots him in the
eyes and the second and uh, a good shot by her.
Absolutely Then then and then Loomis turns a gas on
(28:24):
and uh, you know, the things kind of blow up
at the hospital. But you get what I'm saying. This
is what I'm looking at. You got Louis in That's
how deep we go here. You got Louis Forget about
winning one. Yeah, I want to win four.
Speaker 2 (28:38):
I dig that though. But he's talking about you know
he Look, he's read all the.
Speaker 3 (28:41):
Things about it, life expected, seeing how much longer he's got.
Now the only way this really would invent he you
know why shot, he's not gonna get to call it.
Look he's walking through that door, look at him. And
then some music starts playing and it's Shimie Johnson.
Speaker 2 (28:55):
We're getting the man back. Let's go.
Speaker 1 (28:57):
I mean, it's I understand Jerry. It's great to have goals,
but at some point you would think, even in the
most private heart of hearts, he has a look in
the mirror, going, we won three when I had Jimmy
Johnson and we had great players, and now we can't
even get back. We can't even get back there. I
mean getting back to the NFC Championship game. The couple
(29:18):
of times we did it was really difficult enough. And
now I'm sitting here saying I want to win four
more Like if you're a cowboy, for you looking dude,
you know you never want to make it seem more
like you don't know what you're doing. But like when
I talked last year that Jerry Jones when you couldn't
get the Micah Parsons deal done, maybe this is a
guy that's losing his fastball because he always got the
deals done no matter what it went through. But this
(29:41):
is a new player that clearly he didn't know as
well and didn't get a deal done with the best
defensive player in the NFL. When I hear him say
something like I want to win four more Super Bowls,
I'm like, does he think that sounds that sounds hey?
He's riling up the fan base and firing up with
the fan base, going, dude, this guy lives on mars Man.
We can't even get past one win in the playof
we can't even get to a pointhere.
Speaker 2 (30:01):
We can keep our players.
Speaker 1 (30:02):
He's talking about forcer, like, worry about the task in
front of you before you're worrying about a four super bowls.
Speaker 2 (30:09):
Oh okay, great.
Speaker 3 (30:10):
Now to take the Micah Parsons part of it for
a second, because some of this transpired over over our
break from the show as the holiday holiday holidays rolled on.
Welcome back to work wherever you are, however you're listening.
That's a guy that really seems sad. He's not a
Dallas cowboy. So how much is the relationship with the
(30:31):
advice he was getting in terms of prossing Do you
think he's really happy about on the back end of this, right,
because I'm sure Jerry made him a pretty good offer, right,
He just wanted a little bit more and then it
became a feeling disrespected and not loved and whatever, and
it happens. But for Jerry Jones, I'm gonna go counter
(30:51):
to you here of the you know what, dream big.
If he just says I want to ride this out
and see what we can do, there's something there.
Speaker 2 (30:58):
Send it more.
Speaker 1 (30:59):
How many he's Bob got eight more, eight more, nine, ten,
ten more winning next ten super Bowl. I saw in
the chat GPT Cowboys were skinned supposed to win five
more Super Bowls by the year twenty one forty five.
According to this, we're winning in twenty eight. I'll still
be owning the team then, and I can take it.
I could take a gun for those championships over under
that that game the Cowboys play that Super Bowls in Venezuela. Yeah,
(31:25):
exit up about a Fresco exit swollen dome. Jason Smith

is the number one.
Speaker 6 (31:44):
You took the words around about Jalen bruns in twenty
six to seven. Yeah, buddy, I mean one twenty three
to one eleven. Nothing else happening in the NBA. Oh,
that's pretty good, though for Jalen Brunson.
Speaker 3 (31:55):
I would have expected a little more after he sat
on his ash for the second half.
Speaker 6 (31:58):
Yes, speaking of sitting Trey Young didn't play today because
he's got traded. He's now a member of the Washington Wizards.
The four time All Star was straighted from Atlanta to Washington.
In return, the Wizards will send Atlanta CJ McCollum and
Corey Kispert back. The Hawks won the game today one
seventeen to one hundred. Zach Richiche had twenty five points
(32:20):
and eight rebounds, also in act new team the Wizards
were in. Actually today they lost their ten to twenty
six on the year, so one thirty one until one
ten was the score of seventy six ers victorious twenty
eight point seven rebounds for Joel Embii. Pissons beat the
Bulls one o eight to ninety three. Isaiah Stewart had
a career high thirty one points. Three live games right now,
(32:41):
the Spurs with a eighty seven to six seventy six
lead over the Lakers. Luka Doncic is thirty three points,
eight rebounds, seven assists. Victor Winbinna was playing in this game,
he didn't start. Right now, He's got nine points, four

Trailblazers lead the Rockets sixty eight to sixty three. Dendy

Trent Williams will be able to practice Thursday either. Lane

you know, obviously getting ready for their playoff game.
Speaker 2 (33:42):
Against each other. The Bears. CJ.
Speaker 6 (33:45):
Gardner Johnson, defensive back, miss a second straight day of practice.
Speaker 2 (33:48):
He's in an cutch A protocol.
Speaker 6 (33:50):
The Ravens across the interviews with Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony
Weaver and Seahawks offensive coordinator Clint Kubiak for their vacant
offensive I mean head coaching position, and Alabama quarterbacks High
Simpson and Ohio State Caleb Downs both announced today they're
leaving college to declare for the NFL drafts.
Speaker 2 (34:07):
Fellas, back to.
Speaker 1 (34:08):
You, Thanks a bunch, and coming up next. We are
less than twenty four hours away from the first college
football semifinal. Miami and Old Miss to the good times.
Keep rolling for Ole Miss? Or are we going to
see the Miami Hurricanes in the National Championship? All that
old video of Dennis Erickson getting off the bus waving
Michael Irvin, Who's shirtless?

Speaker 1 (34:48):
Under six to go in the fourth quarter, Spurs trying
to hold off the Lakers. They leaded by eight ninety
two eighty three. Conclusion of this game, marquee game of
the night in the NBA, we got Rick Bucker stopping
by with the tray Young trade. We got more on
Lebron sitting out and the Knicks and big trades and
the Knicks and you know, Rick Carlisle still waiting for
(35:09):
that win.
Speaker 3 (35:09):
Number one thousand still waiting now. That single balloon is
just waiting with the thousand on it.
Speaker 1 (35:15):
I've had the champagne on nights since December eighth, twenty
twenty five, waiting.
Speaker 2 (35:20):
For that to happen.
Speaker 1 (35:23):
It's been a while, but look, it's our long time.
I feel like we waited longer between the end of
the season in the first round games. Now the semi
final games are here in the college football playoff, the
appetizer game tomorrow night, with the varsity game set for Friday.
Miami and ole Miss still shocking. There's still people that
(35:43):
I see, either the average college football or the average
sports fans that go, really, Miami or ole Miss is
going to play for the national championship. Yes, yes, unless
they find a way to redo things.
Speaker 2 (35:55):
Yeah. Yeah, one of those teams is playing for the
national title. One of those teams is doing fun stuff.
Speaker 3 (36:00):
Miami three and a half point favorite fifty two and
a half is your toll for this one? Like I
we talk about the scheduling, and certainly have my issues
with the way the NFL puts things together to get
to their two seventy two. But once the playoffs are here,
the playoffs are here, we could play and people start
doing their usual thing. Is what is a twelve team
(36:21):
win team going on the road like divisions? Okay, shut up,
but in this case, like we really drag this out
as long as we possibly can. These guys are sitting
around for a month and a half. Yeah, I mean, look,
and it seems like it's going even faster than we
thought it was. Like I feel like it's going faster
than did last year.
Speaker 1 (36:41):
Like we're already down to the final four, and we're
gonna be down to the national title game after Friday
Night of the In this game.
Speaker 2 (36:48):
Most of all, I love the under, love love love
the under.
Speaker 1 (36:52):
You could put the under at twenty seven and a half, really,
and I would take the under right because mccarson beck
has been game managing. Say, hey, what does what does
game managing look like? In college football? I'll points the
Carson Becks last few games in Miami. That's that's a
game manager right there, Miami. I told you I was
high on the beginning of the season, they ran a
little difficulty middle of the year, they're playing well at
(37:15):
the end. I so at the beginning of the year,
this is a much more talented Miami team than even
the team a year ago with the number one overall
pick in the draft. And we've seen that's the case.
Miami is not overly great. They run the football really well,
they play defense really well. They get the points they
need offensively just enough.
Speaker 5 (37:33):
Right.
Speaker 1 (37:33):
This is not a team that, Hey, here's the Miami
Hurricanes teams from the eighties early nineties that come in
and you know, and and fatigues and and and and
whooping it up.
Speaker 2 (37:42):
And this is not that team.
Speaker 1 (37:45):
But I like Miami to win tomorrow because I like
the Hurricanes defense to really put their mark on the game,
because that's really what they've done so far.
Speaker 2 (37:54):
In this playoffs.
Speaker 1 (37:54):
You have seen teams that can move the football, can
do some things with some talented guys NFL draft picks,
and the Hurricanes defense has shut them down. Incredibly impressive
job they've done. I'm not again, it's not gonna be
a big, high scoring game. I would take Miami in
a in a sixteen ten, sixteen thirteen, type win here,
(38:16):
because that's kind of what it's gonna be. I think
by the time we get to the fourth quarter, Miami's
defense is gonna cause all kinds of problems and it's
gonna be Look, miss Ole Miss is a great story,
and the whole world is gonna be rooting for them
to win because a Lane Kiffin leaving them to go
someplace else. But Ole Miss is a really good team.
But Miami, they're just firing on. They're the best version
(38:37):
of themselves they can be right now. And I have
a hard time seeing hey, Ole Miss really doing what
they want to do offensively and getting over on Miami's defense.
They'll run the football well enough, they'll kick field goals,
and Miami wins this by three to six points in
the sixteen thirteen sixteen to ten rates.
Speaker 2 (38:53):
Look at that low scoring.
Speaker 3 (38:55):
I do like the fact that we're treating the who's
running Old Miss like an injury report. We got to wait, sure, sure,
which of these guys are actually gonna be allowed to
coach in this game? Don't know, we'll find out is
anybody coming back?
Speaker 2 (39:09):
We have no idea.
Speaker 1 (39:11):
Look, Lane Kiffin might have just said, come on, dude,
Eli Manning might be coaching this game by the time
we get to kick off tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (39:17):
How about that?
Speaker 1 (39:17):
Hey, look, Eli said, well I was in town. You know,
I'm the biggest old miss alum you got.
Speaker 3 (39:21):
So they asked for one of the let's go great,
I'm gonna take Chambles and company to make one or
two extra places, particularly him with his legs, to be
the difference here in a narrow victory. Upset Like, I
don't root for good things for Lane Kiffin, nor do
I want him to get any more credit for what's
going on. But you got a solid squad to your
point with Miami, they can run the football or miss
(39:44):
pretty good at just shutting that down to a degree.
I look at the last two wins when you talk
about A and m they came into things that we're
looking going now. I don't know how good they are
their schedule right like we do with the Patriots and
all these other teams in the NFL level going, I
don't know what's see what it works.
Speaker 2 (40:00):
They scored three VOTs.
Speaker 3 (40:02):
At Ohio State. Oh they're really they're number two, but
they might be soft. Yeah they were soft.
Speaker 1 (40:08):
Miami's got a lot to do with those, you know,
they're I don't take I don't take it away that
I love the defense.
Speaker 3 (40:15):
I will take. It'll be close, no question about it.
It's gonna be a fun, fun watch. But I'll take
Chamberis to make one extra play.
Speaker 1 (40:22):
I mean, look, he's been fun. He's been fun as
seeing a different caliber of defense Tomorrow night. Miami is
greater than Beck Miami and TJ not Chris Shambliss, fab
or Yankee first baseman.
Speaker 7 (40:33):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (40:34):
Coming up next, we get back into a big story
out of the NBA that broke a little while ago.
Speaker 2 (40:39):
That's next, Jason and Mike Fox
