back and expect to make this into a game. Well,
you know, you keep trying to lull them to sleep.
Sometimes you gotta wake up earlier, too, right, I mean,

much better over the course of the day. No, it's
eventually you gotta get your ass out of bed and

early officiating, but you keep burying yourself with the nich

to point to the cat situation, and yeah, that had
a lot to do with it, but the Spurs are
still making their shots.

So I mean, at some point, Mike Brown's got to
get the because the Knicks just aren't ready for the
beginning of every single game, and at some point you

into game three and the start of this one, it's like, well,
there were a lot of these external factors. We put

procedures and routines out, but both teams affected. I'd been

hearing everything before game one, before game two. It's like
eventually the tired legs of these Spurs were gonna fell them, right,
because they played all these games. And then in the
first quarter, someone's got to give the Nicks smelling salts
when they have to go to the bench for an
early time out because they're getting run out of the gym,

like just time and time again. And those first two
games played pretty even, right, just the lack of to
use the Brett Hart, lack of excellence of execution down
late Nix with the big close out in game one,
and then we have the Webbin Yama turnover game two
that fells what might have been an interesting little finish there.

Still got the shot, still got the look at the ball,
got back after brunts and miss one of two. But
the slow starts each and every game, like okay, we're pacing,
we're coming off the coming off the pace. What is
this horse racing, he breaks late. Everybody knows this. Eventually

situation like you do today, hot shooting team, and you
can't say that it was even padded with all right,
stop it, you play because the Spurs were having a

for the the Knicks, the lack of urgency on your
home court, right, you went and got those two games
more even in my opinion than I think a lot

to go outside without Ben or whatever his Kirk dog's

don't understand why because the limelight was handed to him.

just stunning. Like for a guy that doesn't need, has

the goat debate. Whether it's you or Jordan, it's going
to be a discussion that's never really going to be settled. Right,

And that's the best part of this debate with Jordan.
What's more important with Jordan going six for six, Lebron
getting to twenty five finals and winning three of them.
You know what, what's it going to be out winning
four of them? And it's a great debate. But you know,
but the fact that that Lebron is just man, he's
so much. I need the limelight, I need the attention,
and I need the validation. Like, dude, you've seen what

you've accomplished in your career and still no, no, no,
I gotta make sure to tell everybody how good I am.
I've never seen an athlete. You're seeing more athletes now
be more comfortable talking about themselves. And maybe this is
Lebron part of the Lebron effect. Cover the last twenty
years Hey, I'm comfortable talking about myself and how great
I am, but someone at this kind of level for Lebron,

where you're saying, hey, in my fifty plus years of
watching basketball, there's two guys at the top, and it's
Michael and Lebron, And no matter what, that's what everybody's
gonna tell you.

It's it's these two guys. The fact that he still
needs to go out and tell.

You about it is I mean, again, it's so on
brand form, but it's so unnecessary, and he can't help himself.

any anybody that's being privy to watching these two guys
play has been around. You're in one camp or the other.
There's not a whole lot that's gonna change your mind. Right,
They're not gonna invent a new analytical tool or statistic

you're at in that. There's plenty of sick of fans.

There's plenty of guys on his own payroll that go
out and do every podcast and and shout from the
rooftop in his defense every time you can, and maybe
Lebron's just that guy that's the the bridge between the
last generation, not that they wouldn't tell you or show
you or however, you go back to some of those
interviews and conversations that Jordan used to have which were

kind of obvious, uh, you know, kind of nods and
winks of you know, how this works kind of things.
But maybe maybe Lebron's that guy that's the bridge to
where we're at now with a lot of athletes that
talk about, you know, the the mental highs and lows,
and champion for themselves at every turn. Right, the old

adage of well if I don't speak up for myself,
who will in this kind of debate? I think you
just kind of shrug and you know, let the world
do what it does. But if they keep handing you
the microphone and keep go toing you and to come on,
give us a little something, you're gonna you're gonna take
the bait because it allows you to free up and
talk about everything else you want to get off your chest,

actual back and forth and full conversation was that led
us to that answer, though, because he's starting how many guys,

Knicks have cut the Spurs lead to eleven. It is

half minutes left to go. A big hoop, A big
couple of hoops in a row by og Anunobi. It's
a couple of threes karl Anton Towns with a big bucket.

In the fourth quarter, here come the Knicks like this.
I mean again, I'm watching this and I'm looking at it.

Maybe I need to treat it, keep treating it like this,

gonna happen. But I don't know. Man, you're kind of
to a leven was six minutes left to go. All
of a sudden, we got a game.

Just like you can't let people play and just hang
out for a quarter, you can't also say that we're
running into little league sports where there's a running clock
and that's looks what the Spurs have done. Suddenly all
of that operational efficiency and effectiveness has gone out the window.
Now you knew the shooting, would you would average out

a little bit. You're not gonna stay as hot as
you were in the first half, but settling for bad,
bad shots, bringing more intensity, and suddenly the Spurs looking
like that team at the back end of Game one
or when Minyama throwing the ball off Castle's back. Go
back and play basketball. You did it brilliantly for three

and a half quarters.

So we may have something coming down the stretch. It
is now a single digit lead for the Spurs. Two

so there are no points on that possession for the Knicks. However,
Wemby just got fouled missed both free throws, so wemb
So now you're talking about one miss dunk and then
two miss free throws by Wemby. So the Knicks have
the basketball now with a minute and a half left
to go down a point. It was a twenty nine

point deficit they were facing and now they could be
on the cusp of taking the lead, and Jalen Brunson
gives them the lead at one oh five, one oh four.
The comeback is here, Madison square guard. I can't believe
people aren't running on the court right now. It's absolute insanity.

Here one oh five to one oh four with a
minute plus left to go in the game, and it
was a twenty nine point lead for the San Antonio Spurs,
and that's going to be an offensive foul call or an.

He's out of bounds, but they're gonna look at it
because I think the Knicks want the foul call, but
the out of bounds would preclude the foul. Steph Castle
dribbling on the baseline stepped out of bounds, so that's
going to give the ball back to the Knicks. He
then put out a big elbow into Josh Hart that
the Knicks want a foul call on. However, they're getting

the ball out of bounds because Steph Castle stepped out
of bounds.

That's going to uh predate that.

So now the Knicks have the ball up one with
less than a minute left to go. This is absolute
chaos and bedlam and a comeback that started for the
Knicks in the third quarter when the Spurs were up
twenty nine and Victor Webbin Yama gets called for an
offensive foul or gets called for a flagrant foul, and

the Knicks comeback started there. All right, this is a
Wenby flagrant foul and elbow on Karl Anthony Towns. That
what did it rise to the level of a flagrant?
You can debate that, but clearly what Wenby had gotten
away with. Maybe the officials felt, well, you know, we
put Karl Anthony Towns on the bench of the first
half basically and gave the first half to the Spurs. Yeah,
we'll give Wenby the flagrant. Since that flagrant foul the

New York Knicks out, I can't do the math, but
it was eighty one fixuse, I'm so insane right now.
It was eighty one fifty two and now it's one
oh five, one oh four, the Knicks with the lead.
It is the Spurs scoring twenty three points. The Knicks
run is fifty three to twenty three. Since the Karl
Anthony Towns flagrant foul on Wemby a fifty three to

twenty three run by the Knicks. I don't know what
to say, Mike, I don't know what to say. I'm
gonna start drinking. I'm really I've never done that, but
I'm gonna start drinking tonight. I really think this might
be the night where I do it well.

I mean, look the video cameras on. It'll be a
fun watch you turn into I don't know you even
know where you're at at this point. From a mental standpoint,
I want to go back to that Josh Hart little
out of bounds play. That was a more egregious hooking
of a guy's arm by Josh Hart in that corner
than anything that happened on the second file that was

eventually given to Karl Anthony Towns in the first half,
and so the frustration of hey, get off me was
really what transpired after the out of bounds play. But
we talk about a tale of two games at once
as well as the Spurs play. This has been an
absolute meltdown and a travesty of watching. Just the consistency

and effort that they showed and again giving the first
half to the nick I think you want a little
fan there. They didn't give the half your team, then
gave it away after he got to the bench. We're
still playing basketball. But for the Spurs here, they've watched
the Knicks be the aggressor, saying there's still plenty of
time on the clock and playing to win, as opposed

to the Spurs playing just thinking they can ride out
the good vibes of a first half, And the Knicks
have been the aggressor the entire way through that flagrant
file that got called on Wembin Yaba all that time ago.
He's settled for jump shots, He's made a couple, but
the offensive set and continuity of that first half is

long in the rear view mirror. As the Knicks looked,
you try to close this thing out.
Speaker 2 (19:45):
I mean a fifty three to twenty three run since
the Wemby flagrant. Fifty three twenty three is the run
since the flagrant. Right, there's games where at that point
you would think, middle of third quarter, we're down twenty nine.
It's just gonna be bench guys, extraordinary. Right, We're gonna
sit here and we're not gonna try to do this.
We're gonna save our guys for Game five on Saturday,

you know, get some extra rest. But instead the Knicks,
the Knicks decided, hey, yeah, we're just gonna continue to
come back. We're gonna continue to keep playing. And that's
something they didn't do in the first half. Right, what
did I say about them in the first half when
Kat went to the bench with those with those two
fouls in the first three minutes of the game, which
was ridiculously bad. The Knicks let that affect them. They

let that affect them with ah, man, now we don't
know what to do. We feel sorry for ourselves. And
the Spurs got out to a big run. Now when
I would expect them to say, okay, let's you know,
let's let's uh, let's just kind of put this away
and get ready for Game five, No, now we're gonna
start to come back. So when I thought they would
come back and suck it up, they didn't. And when
I thought they would quit and say let's get ready
for Saturday, then they decide to come back.

So that's where we're at.

The Spurs with just seven makes in the second half.
You want to go down that road. Some free throws
mixed therein, but you look at the the shot chart,
just three makes from beyond the arc, with an awful
lot of empty circles along the way and some bad
possessions mixed there in. But give the Nicks all the

credit in the world is if it does go down
as it stands with a one point Spurs lead after
that valiant comeback, you still look back and go, hey,
that first half was ridiculous, But at least the crowd
got excited for a while. I mean that that's been
fun to watch because every celebrity has now been named
checked and Taylor Swift's been shown more now than on

any Chiefs game of the last three years.

the Aaron Fox misses a pull up jumper and Steph
Castle swoops in for the offensive rebound, which, come on, guys,

I don't know how to describe this game. I really
know this is this is one of those games where

I there's there's been seventeen different stories in this game.
I mean it feels like the like the the officials

and what they did at the beginning of the game
that was like three games ago, and instead it's been
the Knicks refusing to die and coming back here again.

get some final second heroics by the Knicks or the
Spurs are gonna absolutely escape and go back to San

They have been more focused, They have been the better
team as far as their execution is gone. Where the
Knicks still take a few minutes to get into every game,

couple of minutes of every game. Now tonight you want

a lot to do with it, but the Spurs are
still making their shots.

So I mean, at some point, Mike Brown's got to
get the because the Knicks just aren't ready for the
beginning of every single game, and at some point you

into game three and the start of this one, it's like, well,
there were a lot of these external factors. We put

to get to the arena. Yes, it takes your normal processes,
procedures and routines out, but both teams affected. I'd been

hearing everything before game one, before game two. It's like
eventually the tired legs of these Spurs were gonna fell them, right,
because they played all these games. And then in the
first quarter, someone's got to give the Nicks smelling salts
when they have to go to the bench for an

like just time and time again. And those first two
games played pretty even, right, just the lack of to
use the Brett Hart, lack of excellence of execution down
late Nix with the big close out in game one,

that fells what might have been an interesting little finish there.

got back after brunts and miss one of two. But
the slow starts each and every game, like okay, we're pacing,

just stunning. Like for a guy that doesn't need, has

the goat debate. Whether it's you or Jordan, it's going
to be a discussion that's never really going to be settled. Right,

And that's the best part of this debate with Jordan.
What's more important with Jordan going six for six, Lebron
getting to twenty five finals and winning three of them.
You know what, what's it going to be out winning
four of them? And it's a great debate. But you know,
but the fact that that Lebron is just man, he's
so much. I need the limelight, I need the attention,
and I need the validation. Like, dude, you've seen what

you've accomplished in your career and still no, no, no,
I gotta make sure to tell everybody how good I am.
I've never seen an athlete. You're seeing more athletes now
be more comfortable talking about themselves. And maybe this is
Lebron part of the Lebron effect. Cover the last twenty
years Hey, I'm comfortable talking about myself and how great
I am, but someone at this kind of level for Lebron,

where you're saying, hey, in my fifty plus years of
watching basketball, there's two guys at the top, and it's
Michael and Lebron, And no matter what, that's what everybody's
gonna tell you.

It's it's these two guys. The fact that he still
needs to go out and tell.

You about it is I mean, again, it's so on
brand form, but it's so unnecessary, and he can't help himself.

any anybody that's being privy to watching these two guys
play has been around. You're in one camp or the other.
There's not a whole lot that's gonna change your mind. Right,
They're not gonna invent a new analytical tool or statistic
that's suddenly going to sway your opinion. You are where
you're at in that. There's plenty of sick of fans.

There's plenty of guys on his own payroll that go
out and do every podcast and and shout from the
rooftop in his defense every time you can, and maybe
Lebron's just that guy that's the the bridge between the
last generation, not that they wouldn't tell you or show
you or however, you go back to some of those
interviews and conversations that Jordan used to have which were

kind of obvious, uh, you know, kind of nods and
winks of you know, how this works kind of things.
But maybe maybe Lebron's that guy that's the bridge to
where we're at now with a lot of athletes that
talk about, you know, the the mental highs and lows,
and champion for themselves at every turn. Right, the old

adage of well if I don't speak up for myself,
who will in this kind of debate? I think you
just kind of shrug and you know, let the world
do what it does. But if they keep handing you
the microphone and keep go toing you and to come on,
give us a little something, you're gonna you're gonna take
the bait because it allows you to free up and
talk about everything else you want to get off your chest,

actual back and forth and full conversation was that led
us to that answer, though, because he's starting how many guys,

In the fourth quarter, here come the Knicks like this.
I mean again, I'm watching this and I'm looking at it.

you were in the first half, but settling for bad,
bad shots, bringing more intensity, and suddenly the Spurs looking

on the cusp of taking the lead, and Jalen Brunson

The comeback is here, Madison square guard. I can't believe
people aren't running on the court right now. It's absolute insanity.

the Knicks want a foul call on. However, they're getting

So now the Knicks have the ball up one with

chaos and bedlam and a comeback that started for the

the Knicks comeback started there. All right, this is a
Wenby flagrant foul and elbow on Karl Anthony Towns. That
what did it rise to the level of a flagrant?
You can debate that, but clearly what Wenby had gotten
away with. Maybe the officials felt, well, you know, we
put Karl Anthony Towns on the bench of the first
half basically and gave the first half to the Spurs. Yeah,
we'll give Wenby the flagrant. Since that flagrant foul the

New York Knicks out, I can't do the math, but

oh five, one oh four, the Knicks with the lead.
It is the Spurs scoring twenty three points. The Knicks

Anthony Towns flagrant foul on Wemby a fifty three to

to say, Mike, I don't know what to say. I'm
gonna start drinking. I'm really I've never done that, but

be the night where I do it well.

I mean, look the video cameras on. It'll be a
fun watch you turn into I don't know you even
know where you're at at this point. From a mental standpoint,
I want to go back to that Josh Hart little
out of bounds play. That was a more egregious hooking
of a guy's arm by Josh Hart in that corner
than anything that happened on the second file that was

eventually given to Karl Anthony Towns in the first half,
and so the frustration of hey, get off me was
really what transpired after the out of bounds play. But
we talk about a tale of two games at once
as well as the Spurs play. This has been an
absolute meltdown and a travesty of watching. Just the consistency

and effort that they showed and again giving the first
half to the nick I think you want a little
fan there. They didn't give the half your team, then
gave it away after he got to the bench. We're
still playing basketball. But for the Spurs here, they've watched
the Knicks be the aggressor, saying there's still plenty of
time on the clock and playing to win, as opposed

to the Spurs playing just thinking they can ride out
the good vibes of a first half, And the Knicks
have been the aggressor the entire way through that flagrant
file that got called on Wembin Yaba all that time ago.
He's settled for jump shots, He's made a couple, but
the offensive set and continuity of that first half is

long in the rear view mirror. As the Knicks looked,
you try to close this thing out.

I mean a fifty three to twenty three run since
the Wemby flagrant. Fifty three twenty three is the run
since the flagrant. Right, there's games where at that point
you would think, middle of third quarter, we're down twenty nine.
It's just gonna be bench guys, extraordinary. Right, We're gonna

come back. We're gonna continue to keep playing. And that's
something they didn't do in the first half. Right, what
did I say about them in the first half when
Kat went to the bench with those with those two
fouls in the first three minutes of the game, which
was ridiculously bad. The Knicks let that affect them. They

let that affect them with ah, man, now we don't
know what to do. We feel sorry for ourselves. And
the Spurs got out to a big run. Now when
I would expect them to say, okay, let's you know,
let's let's uh, let's just kind of put this away
and get ready for Game five, No, now we're gonna
start to come back. So when I thought they would
come back and suck it up, they didn't. And when
I thought they would quit and say let's get ready
for Saturday, then they decide to come back.

You want to go down that road. Some free throws
mixed therein, but you look at the the shot chart,
just three makes from beyond the arc, with an awful
lot of empty circles along the way and some bad
possessions mixed there in. But give the Nicks all the

credit in the world is if it does go down
as it stands with a one point Spurs lead after
that valiant comeback, you still look back and go, hey,
that first half was ridiculous, But at least the crowd
got excited for a while. I mean that that's been
fun to watch because every celebrity has now been named

any Chiefs game of the last three years.
