Speaker 2 (00:11):
Hello, Welcome in side hour to the Jason Smith Show
with my base friend Mike Harmon.
Speaker 3 (00:17):
Well dressed hobo.
Speaker 2 (00:19):
We'll get to the big NFL trade in a minute,
but we had absolute NBA history a few moments ago.
Right now, six minutes to go in the second quarter
and the game is on Primes. You have to trust
us that it's happening. The Nuggets lead the Lakers forty
six thirty nine. Lakers were down fifteen, coming back a
little bit here, still early in this game. But it
(00:41):
was thirty six years ago. Thirty six years ago, Kareem
Abdul Jabbar scored the final baskets of his NBA career fifteen,
eight hundred and thirty seven baskets. Jabbar yeah. Thirty six
years later, in the words of Jesse Ventura, when he
(01:06):
would have the play by play analyst work for a
WWE World Wrestling Federation whichever it was heavyweight championship, when
the incumbent would lose, and he would say during the
count one two, and he would say, monsoon we got
a new world champion. Three in the winner, we now
(01:27):
have a new champion. Fifteen thousand, eight hundred and thirty
eight Lebron one on one with Dutch off the back campaign,
James turns another record in the legendary career of the
Lebron James most field goals in NBA history. There was
(01:53):
Iron Eagel on Prime with the call now and counting
fifteen thousand, eight hundred and thirty eight made field goals
for Lebron. He's only played fifty years on right, it's
thirty six years after Kareem set the record. It's okay,
now we got finally we got somebody breaking it, stat aggregator.
But here's only only does his score points. Man, I
(02:16):
don't understand why people love Lebron so much hanging around
but he's not. But he's not a score That's what
he tried to sell you all those years ago, you know.
And and here's the thing about Lebron and this record,
whenever he finishes whatever number it's going to wind up at,
is you never want to say things are unbreakable, but
I fall into the category of it's unbreakable for a
(02:38):
long time, Like it's gonna be a long time before
we get somebody else coming in breaking certain records. Well,
if Wemby plays the Pistons every night, he could do this, like,
oh yeah, he would have it by the playoffs? Would
he would have it ready to go? But legitimately, who's
playing that well that long and with the money that's
now part of this? Right? I mean, look, it could
be Wemby, It could be Wemby. I don't know that Luca.
(03:00):
I don't know that Luca's going to be healthy long
enough to do it. He's missed a lot of games, right,
But when Wemby's got to say it. But Wemby's also
only you know, Wemby's only only seventeen years old. So
I mean it's the guys at average thirty a game
from when they're younger. Wemby could do it in theory,
But to think of record like this, just think about
how now as time goes on, the three is gonna
(03:20):
be even a bigger part of the game than it
is now, which means it's gonna be less. Yeah, but
it's gonna be So what that means is that's gonna
be less for any score they're gonna take a decent
amount of threes. And if you shoot well from three,
you're shooting forty percent. You know you're not You're not
somebody that, Hey, I'm eighteen for twenty six, they're all twos, right?
Which was you know? That was Kareem? He just had
the numbers. Lebron has played this long, plus he hit
(03:43):
some threes. But now the next the next great scores
like Steph Curry's not gonna do this. I mean, well, yeah,
you think of the points he scores. Yeah, but because
he takes so many threes and the percentage is going
to be lower, it's gonna be hard for someone to
get to the made field goal, the made number of
made field goals that he has. Well, who would you
think outside of Lebron are your active leaders Jalen Brunson,
(04:04):
Karl Anthony Towns, Oh, sorry, go ahead, Carl Anthony Town's uh,
down down a win. I would say James Harden, Durant,
Durant and Harden. I would say the top Harden is
sixth okay, I would uh, I'd take Steph is Steph
is in that list. Steph is fifth at just about
(04:25):
nine thousand coming into tonight's game. Okay, Oh boy, maybe
more made field goals? Uh No, no, I don't think
he's got enough. I mean I doubt but that that
that'd be lots a lot of shots if both Steph
and Clay uh would be there? Uh? Who else? No,
he's too you know, he's too young. It's gotta be
it's got you gotta go, you gotta go later, you
gotta go older again. If Wemby played the Pistons every night,
(04:49):
you would you would say, Wemby house nicely done. Yeah, well,
he's gonna play till he's seventy. Eventually you're gonna watch
this can come back? Oh come back at sixty years old. No,
I've been in the league this all the time. Oh really, yeah,
it's absolutely fine. Uh let me see where else am
I going to go?
Speaker 4 (05:04):
Here?
Speaker 2 (05:05):
Uh? Kawhi? No, No, he hasn't played. No, he's heard
all the time.
Speaker 4 (05:09):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (05:10):
Well, and that's the other thing when we talk about
Wendy and some of these other guys, and yeah, are
you are you playing that number of games? It's it's
it's tough. Staying healthy is tough. Oh I got one guess? Yeah,
go ahead?
Speaker 5 (05:20):
Is it?
Speaker 2 (05:21):
Russell Westbrook. Yeah, he's all right, all right, Wow, he's third,
he's third amongst active players. I'm sorry, not missed field goals.
We're talking, we're talking about, you know, not missed field
You make sure that that's not missed field goals. I
think miss field goals. You're gonna looking at made field goals,
Russell Westbrook. Really, yeah, brick field goals made made? Are
(05:42):
you on this? Are you on this the sports brick
you know, the sports brick center. Now basketballs nicely?
Speaker 4 (05:48):
Sure?
Speaker 5 (05:48):
Okay?
Speaker 2 (05:49):
My field goals that clanked off the rim? Oh if
it was hitting the rim, most shots hitting the rim,
that's Westbrook. Yea, yeah, So it goes Lebron Durant, Yeah,
Westbrook jerrozen oh okay, Kurry Harden, Yannis Vosevich wow, really yes, Okay,
(06:12):
he's got seventy five hundred. And then you go down
a ways to Anthony Davis, Damian Lillard, and then it
really starts to drop off to where it's Brook Lopez
at sixty eight hundred, Kyrie even Jokicic is at sixty
seven hundred with I mean, and you think about how
dominant he's been but shorter samples. So yeah, it's a.
It's a lot of make made baskets to get up
(06:34):
into that upper echelon. So I mean that's that's a
considerable drop off. I mean that's gonna be. I mean,
you want to say impossible, but it's gonna be. I mean,
you talk about maybe another thirty six years before we
see it. He'll get this broken again. Yeah, that's that's
nice to think about that. Yeah, well, I guess it's
gonna be at Wendy's. Yeah. Yeah, I'll be working.
Speaker 5 (06:53):
You'll be.
Speaker 2 (06:55):
Trying to tell them these frosties are no good one
hundred percent. So big trade in the NFL today. You
woke up and saw it, and you probably thought, wasn't
he didn't I read that he was gonna be traded
a week ago? Well, no, it's happening. Adam Schefter reporting
the Bills have finally gotten their number one receiver, obtaining
(07:20):
DJ Moore from the Bears. Buffalo is sending a second
round pick to Chicago. They get DJ Moore and a
fifth round pick. Bills are also going to guarantee nearly
all of Moore's base salary in twenty twenty eight, so
they take So the Bears get out from under Dj
Moore's salary and the Bills are gonna take it on,
but he's gonna be their number one receiver. He's twenty
(07:41):
eight years old. They get back a fifth round pick,
but it's a second round pick for Dj Moore for
the Bills. Aspect of this, this shows you how absolutely
two things, how absolutely desperate they are for a number
one receiver, and how there's nobody out there in free agency.
You're not gonna come out of this and let you
want to make a big, bold move because it is
(08:02):
a seller's market in free agency. Right, Alec Pierce is
the number one receiver out there in free agency, and
Alec Pierce is good. Took him four years to become
pretty good. But he's a guy that's got a great
yards per carry average, a yards per reception average. He
catches at least one pass for seventy yards every week
and you know, three passes overall. But you are not
(08:22):
getting a receiver this offseason unless you trade for him.
And this shows you you had to give up a
second round pick for Dj Moore, who was someone the
Bears are gonna say, yeah, we're ready to move on
from this guy. Because whether it was the diminishing returns
the last couple of years hasn't been a thousand yard
receiver a little. While the Bears have ascending playmakers, they
want to get the ball more too. And then you
(08:43):
had the cardinal sin of him stopping running on that
route that Caleb Williams threw a pick on that cost
him the playoff game against the Rams and cost him
a shot at the Super Bowl. Like that was the
last straw. Dj Moore has been a player that has
been very good, but has been two in consistent and
no longer is at the top of that food chain.
(09:04):
You don't have to get him the football. The Bear
showed they could get along with at him. He had
some great games, but he also had some very pedestrian
and less than pedestrian games. So while Chicago makes a
move and they pretty much just grant basically, I love
the deal for Chicago more because they're getting a second
round pick and they're out from under that money because
a couple other moves they've made. Now they got like
they say, fifty million dollars in cap money. The last
(09:26):
twenty four hours. The Bears have done great stuff. Man,
it's the era of good feeling for the Bears. But
this shows you how desperate the Bills are. They go
out and get a number one receiver and oh it's
Dj Moore. Okay, I guess I'm excited. I guess. I mean, look,
Dj Moore is he's a good player, but is he great?
(09:47):
Is he a terrific number one? There's a reason why
the Bears want to get rid of him, right, there's
a real I mean, you saw, you saw how the
last two years have been diminishing returns, and he was
jogging on a big route in the playoffs and the
Bill said, yep, sign us up for that. That's how
desperate the Bills are and how bad of a free
agency crap it is. Well, ninety plus receptions three of
(10:08):
four years prior to this year down to fifty receptions
and some of the most important and highlight worthy plays
of Bears recent memory occurred because of Dj Moore this
past year, but also some why is he walking off
the field? Why didn't he finish that route? And you
have all those ascending players. Look, they've got a lot
(10:30):
of need lost in the love affair everybody had with
the Bears. This year. They took the ball away a lot. Yeah, yeah,
they still gave up twenty seven points a game. Defensively,
they had a lot of issues. And now Edmunds goes
to free agency, Dolman retired, and now you get rid
of DJ Moore's money, so nearly fifty million in terms
(10:51):
of cap space. Now there's still rumors of the big
move to go get Max Crosby. I'll wait and see it.
But you still have issues. You've got to shore up
on the offer defensive line. Remember Trapillo got hurt and
he'd been fantastic. He got hurt in that Green Bay game.
He will not be ready for the first half of
the season coming off of that injury. And like I said, defensively,
(11:12):
a lot of takeaways obscured the fact that teams were
able to march up and down the field on them
and still put up a lot of points. So the
work in progress. And by divesting yourself of Dj Moore,
while you expect bigger things for Luther Burton, and now
you put a bullseye on Roma Doonza, you really need
to step up. Now. Zakias was good, and obviously Lovelin
(11:34):
became such a big threat down the stretch. You believe
you got enough wide receivers to go go to battle
without Dj Moore and if you can get a second
round pick back for it, whether you use it or
flip it, you still have a lot of needs for
an ascending Bears team that had a fantastic twenty twenty five.
But it's just the start for the Bills. Josh Allen
gets a guy, and Alec Pierce is a guy. I
(11:55):
don't know if we've seen how good this guy can
be because think about the quarterbacks that and running out
of the ball out there in Indianapolis. So while he's
not the household name and the yards per catch thing is,
can he be a complete receiver if you give him
an opportunity to be. I don't know. Time will tell,
But for the Bills to get a guy like DJ Moore,
(12:17):
like I said, three ninety plus reception years in four
before this year's drop off where they distributed the ball
really well, I think Josh Allen's got himself a new
best friend.
Speaker 4 (12:28):
Dull.
Speaker 2 (12:28):
Look, it's so first of all, let me go back.
Don't worry. I told you the era of good feeling
is here for the bad. Yeah, he got rid of
a receiver that they had no room for who they
were done with him when he didn't run a round
and Caleb Williams threw a pick that cost you a
shot at the Super Bowl. He had many games this
year where anybody that has been fantasy will tell you
two catches for eighteen yards. I started that guy. He's
(12:50):
gone from being just in fantasy terms. He's gone from
a guy like three years ago. He's my number one,
right of my top two. I started he's a back
end number one, then went to, well, now he's one
of my two flex guys, and then he last year
it was well, now he's in every other week or
every couple of week flex guys like you've seen his
His production just decreased. They don't need him anymore. I mean, look,
(13:11):
I mean, I mean, I don't know that was that
was part of my long So I don't know how
great Luther Burden is. But it doesn't matter because you
have to open things up to get these guys of
football and gotta get holds and level the football more.
All this and he's replaceable because you take this forty
five million that you just saved the last couple of
days and there'll be aggressive and free agency be able
to you. Don't this is where they don't need tons
(13:33):
of stuff. They need to just fill some holes, right
if you're looking, No, no, no no, not even hardramatic
that they had but doesn't matter, doesn't mean wins generally,
that's a coin flip. Most of those games. Are you kidding?
But they won those games? Yes, but show us that's
(13:55):
not How are you upset that you need to go back?
And there's a lot of you, there's a lot of
quarterback losing a bunch of your secondary You watch your
quarterback win games consistently in the final two minutes. That's
a skill. That's not something that well, we love you
watched him consistently the Bears the final few minutes of
the games this year. That was when they ate. Yeah,
(14:16):
but where you're watching as a team is where defensively
you're not giving out seven a game and eating last
second heroics. How are you? How are you put it? Okay?
Every year isn't perfect. You're not gonna go seventeen and
oher and when every game forty nine nothing. I don't
understand how you're so upset, but just be happy that
you're making it so I got a little bit of
(14:37):
cosmetic work to do. No, no, no, No, there's a
lot to do. I think you've got great formational things.
You got a lot of work. You're too close to it, man,
you're too close to it. You're too every just it.
I told you the era of good feeling is here.
Speaker 4 (14:54):
Man.
Speaker 2 (14:54):
You guys are good, you have a quarterback, you have
everything you need. You're fine. This is just every every
every every year in the off season stuff where hey, Okay,
some guys are gonna go, some guys are gonna replace.
That's how it goes. You lost the center, you lost
another starter on offense to injury. You're losing your secondary.
Your pass rush wasn't very good. There's a lot. You
want my roster, I'll treat your roster for my No,
(15:15):
I'm just telling you reality is, there's still a lot
of work to be done here. My friend DJ Moore expendable,
absolutely excent. How about a fresca he's sadness. Mike Harmon
over here to be wearing the blue with the big glass.
I look good. H we got more NFL and speaking
of sadness, the inside out story you didn't know you needed.

Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Harmon. You have more basketball on the way.
I've just watched. Luca also set an envy look the
the Lakers Lebron James setting an NBA record tonight most
field goals, Yeah, in history, fifteen eight hundred and thirty
(16:32):
eight in counting. That was Luca complaining to the officials
about a foul call for the sixteen and forty seventh time,
setting a new NBA record. And he's only twenty seven,
so I mean, this is something he's gonna run over.
This is like Cy Young winning five hundred games in
Major League Baseball. No one's breaking that record, Like, no
one's gonna break that, Luke. Yeah, the YPM is just
off the charts, yelling per minute. Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, no,
(16:55):
that's it, And unfortunately it's now taken Luca from the folks.
We're excited to see him come to Los Angeles. They
love the player that he's been to where I think
folks are tired of him fast. I mean that, you know.
That's the one thing about Luca is that people forget
that perception is reality. And maybe it's not reality. Maybe
(17:16):
it is, but if people see it that way, that's
the way it goes. And you saw Mike Brown try
to get the perception out there last night that hey, SGA,
they just said, the guy to the free throw line.
Well yeah, and he's really really good at right everybody,
Like people said to me, Tod, you like, boy, I
can't believe on the show last night you weren't more
upset about SGA and the foul calls. I go, because
that's part.
Speaker 1 (17:35):
Of who he is.
Speaker 2 (17:36):
It's what he does. Like, that's a skill getting to
the free throw line. What am I gonna say he's
not fouled. How many guys aren't fould But that's part
of what he does. We talked about it all last
year during the playoffs, I'd like to see him get
called for that extension of the leg thing that he
dis Oh yeah, yeah, that's border line absurd and dirty,
because that's where you gotta see. Yeah, you got it,
and that's something you gotta see. But creating contact or
(17:57):
the image of contact, that's a skill.
Speaker 3 (17:58):
Man.
Speaker 2 (17:59):
That's the best NBA players do. And it's not like
SGA is sexy, but when you do stuff like that,
I respect the hell out to be able to get
that call thistrategy and defensively you have to get you
have to do something like you're saying, what am I doing?
What do I need to do defensively because I know
he's gonna create that contact. Right, the big three he
hit last night in the final couple of minutes that
(18:20):
gave him a five point lead, and now Nobe picks
him up on the other side at half court, right,
and and Noby's the best knicks one on one defender.
But knowing that he does that, andw Nobe gave him
the three, Like I kind of have to give you
the three a little bit because I don't want you
to get here, create content, go to the free throw line,
and what does SGA do? Step back hits a three,
like what are you gonna do? Andw Noby's one of
(18:42):
the best one on one defenders in the NBA, and
SJA still found a way going okay, here, give me
a little bit too much. I know I can't make
this move to the basket. I'm gonna sit back and
take an open three. And that was a killer three.
But it's like sometimes defensively three three hands go, what
the hell am I supposed to do?
Speaker 1 (18:56):
Is?
Speaker 2 (18:56):
The hard part is trying to go challenge the three.
He's good at drawing the contact out there too, so
all of a sudden it's three freebies or if he
does get the shot off and then you're in his
landing space and whatever else again the extended legs, et cetera,
to where you're gonna find that extra foul. And this
is why you've got to be that much smarter and
recognizing down distant situation like Kat didn't multiple times with
(19:22):
him yesterday. Right the reach in and you're not defending
at that point, You're just giving them the opportunity to
blow a whistle on you. And look, you call it
foul hunting, call it foul. You don't have to like it, right,
it's not always esthetically pleasing the way the best to operate,
but that's certainly something that is going to be watched.
(19:43):
And Mike Brown, you know, fired off that salvo for
the inevitable Nicks thunder championkid. But that's the thing for
Luca is that the perception is now all he does
is complain. It's gone from hey, Luca does a lot
of complaining, but a lot of players complain to now
he's the biggest complainer all the time. And what happens
(20:04):
when when that becomes the overwhelming narrative about you, you
stop getting those calls and and and it upsets your
teammates and it upsets everybody. Uh here you are just
stop complaining for a foul, stop flopping, stop doing this,
and it winds up hurting you. And this is where
Luca's gotta get that. Okay, I kind of have to
pick my spot, so I'm gonna complain about fouls. I
can't be seen as the guy that complains all the
(20:25):
time because all that's gonna do is hurt me as
a player. I'm not gonna get those calls, and I
want to get those calls like you want. You watch
sga Ore the players, Jalen Brunt, they don't complain all
the time. They know when to Okay, now, I know
I need to say something or show something. You can't
just do it in the middle of the second quarter
and and and very demonstratively, like we just watched him
throw his arms out it. What do you do? What's
(20:46):
happened is that? Okay, dude, you need to pick a
spot for that. And that's where Lucas still doesn't get that, Hey,
this what you do here has ramifications throughout the league,
whether it's on you, how you officiated, how your team
is a fit, she ated, what the players think of
you at all. Here's a guy complaining again, you know,
here's here's Luke complaining to get about a call. And
maybe that's what JJ Redick and him out of conversation about.
(21:09):
Maybe it's not, but this is stuff that's on the table,
and Luca's gotta get that. I can't be that guy. Well,
especially that the games are as we would hope are
in the balance in the final minutes now on average
the NBA. You know, it's the running theme and joke
on the show of Hey, it's the one and a
half games per night. If I got two games. If
(21:30):
I can get the over where two games are coming
down to the final minutes are still hotly contested, I'm
feeling good. But in the playoffs you get more of those.
And the last thing you wanted to be is the
referee decides to swallow the whistle. Yeah, you didn't get
hit enough, right, he had one as you reference there,
He didn't look at the first official, actually ran back
on defense, but then stared down the official that was
(21:53):
back on the baseline as if to say, how did
I not get that bump? Because I mean, technically letter
of the law. But with ten sixteen or thereabouts left
in the third quarter. Yeah, it's a play on kind
of moment. So you know, pick your spots. It's like
using the expletives in your life, right, The F bomb
(22:13):
far more effective if you only pull it out on
rare occasion. Now it becomes part of your character in
every movie you do, like a Samuel Jackson. I mean,
people are waiting on it. Eventually you're gonna have a blanket.
But it's something people look forward to. I look forward
to hearing Samuel Jackson use the F word as an acge.
How's he gonna do it? I don't look forward to
Luka doncicch like I saw him two seconds ago, because
(22:35):
you're a hater. With his arms out wide completely even iper,
he can't complain with his arms wide. If he was
on the next you wouldn't be complaining about this. Dude, dude,
how many days well, okay, how many days in a
row would you come? Would you get from work and
walk in and and you know you see Jackson? Jack says,
how is your day? Dad?
Speaker 4 (22:55):
Hey?
Speaker 2 (22:55):
Pretty good?
Speaker 5 (22:56):
Dude?
Speaker 2 (22:57):
N at night we got problems and and and again
wild and night and and and Jack says, hey, Dad,
did you bring me any baseball cards? Any football cards?
You normally does you?
Speaker 4 (23:06):
No?
Speaker 2 (23:06):
I didn't bring him today, and he threw his arms
right open, going Dad, where are the cards? Come on, Dad,
you gotta bring those. I can't believe in Tuesday, how
many days in a row before until you would say, hey,
Jack's enough with the cards? Okay? Feels like that that
occurs every day. He's the Luca of asking for trading cards.
(23:26):
The Luca got a bad deal hockey players. Yes, that's right.
Had you got him that meeting with Copaitar yet I'm
working on all right? Very good very good. Uh, now,
or there will be TJ a lot of sadness in
your house. If that he already called me sadness. Uh,
you can't give that nickname to somebody else. Great announcement
today on April fifth, we're getting the Inside Out Classic
(23:50):
on ESPN. Now, we've seen this a lot in in
in games over the course of the past couple of years.
We had the Big Monsters inc Football last year that
did really well. Nick. Now on ESPN, Disney Disney Channel,
Disney XD, the Capitals take on the Rangers. Right, They've
done the Mickey Cast, They've done a few other in
Andy's Room, We've done SpongeBob. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (24:12):
I mean.
Speaker 2 (24:15):
Now we're getting the Inside Out Classic where all characters
from Inside Out are gonna be featured skating along with
animated versions of the NHL players from this game between
the Capitals and the Rangers.
Speaker 5 (24:25):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (24:26):
The game's gonna take place on Hockey Island inside Riley's Head,
who is the main character from Inside of the main
human character who's a big huge plays hockey. They're gonna
use a lot of voices from the Inside Out movies,
including Philip Smith, Lewis Black, Tony Hale, Maya Hawk, They're
all gonna be in it. This is something where I go, Okay,
this is something I want to see. This is something
(24:48):
I want to see because you know, for all the
the the the the arrows that pix Our takes for
the basically the last twenty five years of wow, did
did anybody else besides Joe Raft have any ideas for
movies like? Inside Out's been probably the big the combination
of the best, most successful Pixar movie they have had.
(25:08):
They've had a lot of swings and missus Man like
Pixar is kind of like the rock band where Hey Boy,
their first few years their albums were insane, but now
you get twenty five years on and well, we haven't
anything else any good. You know, maybe we've had a
couple of songs here and there, but really haven't had anything.
But inside Out really has been the best it's been.
It was original, it's got staying power, it's got a
great story. It's successful. Like a lot of the Pixar
(25:31):
movies make money, but how good are they really? Like
you got to go back to cars, you know, being
the last time you saw something the mid two thousands,
it's starting to dry up for Pixar, But Inside Out's
been their biggest hit. And I get Inside Out too.
They're gonna be inside Out three and four to fight
to be like Toy Story. So I'm glad to see
this because this is what This is something I really
want because this is a this is a a product
that Okay, we're getting something new, We're getting something from
(25:53):
a movie that is successful that people are gonna watch
because you got to go all the way back. Okay,
Monsters Inc. Like you're going back to people watching Monsters Inc.
That you know that came up on it. That's twenty
years ago. Man Mike Wazowski's twenty Mike Wasowski's fifty years
old now all right in real life, Like you know,
I don't know that Billy Crystal can still do the voice.
That's how mid No it was now so but inside
(26:15):
Out is current. It just has the right combination of
things where even though it's a Rangers game, you know,
I feel about the Rangers. This is something I'm looking
forward to seeing. This is something I'm really excited to
see how they make it. Look what's it like now
using the main characters and using their voices getting them
to take part in this like, this is a big
w right here for hockey, and it's great that they're
capitalizing on the success of the men's gold medal in Olympics. Hey,
(26:39):
we're gonna get this going. Whatever they needed to do
to make this work, to spend a little bit more
money on to keep the spotlight on hockey, This is
a great thing. First, Inside Out came out in twenty fifteen.
Later you had Coco in twenty seventeen, and then there
are a bunch of misses. I was looking at a
rotten tomatoes grid actually earlier today because you've got Hoppers
(27:01):
coming out this week. Yeah, not a not a sponsor
or affiliate there, but just so it's in the news
and kind of these grids coming up. I didn't realize
that Cars two was so hated. He's got Yeah, that
was all in all and Michael Caine and yeah, now
just remember that Inside Out is also based on the
(27:24):
short lived but beloved Fox show called Herman's Head well
back back in the day and I which were all
the emotions of a guy, right, you know, mid thirties
guy kind of, and that was Edward Herman, the actor
that was in his head. It was ed Edward Harman
Good from Lost Boys. He was also on Gilmore Girls.
(27:45):
Right now, the thing about the thing about cars is,
I don't know, seriously, I'm not lying to you. As
much as I've seen Caddyshack, I don't know that I've
seen a movie more than i've seen cars. Because Zoe
and I would watch cars every day because we loved
cars so much. I bought all the cars she had.
She had all the even the cars that were barely
like DJ the blue car that just goes do you
don't have them? Hey, we got ourselves and nod. Oh yeah,
(28:07):
got a couple. Yeah, yeah, yeah, we save We saved
a few of them. Yeah. I don't know how good
shape they're in, because she played with them. And the
best thing she wanted is Dad, line up the cars.
Let's line up the cars, and you tell me everybody,
and you quiz me and point to them and I'll
tell you, okay, great. I don't know that I've seen
anything more than I've seen cars, because Cars was such
a I mean, it was doc Hollywood, except it was
in the world of cars. But then Mader became so popular,
so oh, now we're gonna make Mader the main character. Wait, wait,
(28:29):
we are main Mader's now the main cut. Okay, it's Lightning.
McQueen is the main cut. Yeah. So Cars kind of
lost its way a little bit. It kind of lost
its way, but the first cars phenomenal. And now I
get to refer to it all the time because no one.
McLain's nickname is Lightning. So you know, during the baseball
season with the Mets, when he pitches four or five
no hitters, Lightning McLain, I will shout it from someplace
(28:50):
very high.
Speaker 5 (28:51):
See.
Speaker 2 (28:52):
I thought we'd just go back into thunder and Lightning
and sing some more Neil Diamond songs. Oh songs so blue. Oh,
I thought thunder light youre talking out the old Mike Alstott.
But we could do that to backfield with uh, who
I'm missing uh? And worked on Yes, I'm on back
of Cat Fancy. I was on Cat Fancy now three times. Yes.
(29:13):
And Edward Herman did play Richard on Gilmore. Oh, okay,
very good. And here's the Grandpa and Herman's head. It
was inside Edward Herman's head. You should do this Lost
Boys movie. It's gonna be a big hit, all right,
I'm gonna do it. There, he goes that was that
was anxiety working for you right there. You gotta be
an interesting concept to see that that come to play.
Are they gonna be in someone's head as they're skating
(29:34):
down the ice like should I should I pass it? Well,
the game takes place in Riley's head, That's what I mean.
It's gonna be in Riley's head. Yeah. So when someone
comes up and hits hits a guy, Lewis Black gets
to just start screaming like like, that's gonna be the
key my defense, defense screwing me over again. When there's
a fight, they're both gonna anger, They're both the heads
(29:55):
are gonna That's gonna be fun. See that. That's where
it can get next level time to find out what's
trending in the wide world of sports. But guy who
has a lot of voices in his head, one telling
him you shouldn't have bet the Pistons tonight. That was
a bad bet at San Antonio. It's Martin Weiss.
Speaker 6 (30:12):
You know, I didn't bet the Pistons, But Luky Dont
just just did his best Martin Weiss's impression. As I
was listening to you guys talk about all the Pixar
misses until your best friend Mike Carmen mentioned Coco. Coco
was a great film, a great, fantastic film. Luca furious
at the referees. I believe he tipped the ball in
(30:32):
and they said it was in the cylinder. Luca then
jumped up and down three times like Michael Jordan after
hitting a game winning shot, put his hands in the
air like he but he actually really did care.
Speaker 3 (30:43):
You could see it in his face.
Speaker 2 (30:45):
You can't do that in the second quarter of games, man.
You gotta save that for when you need it to
be fair.
Speaker 6 (30:50):
It is the third quarter, but your point I still
think has a lot of weight here h third quarter,
seven minutes left.
Speaker 3 (30:58):
The Nuggets lead the Laker eighty to sixty eight.
Speaker 6 (31:02):
They are reviewing that call that Luka Doncics was this
adamant that should be cleaned. So if he's got his way,
it'll be eighty to seventy by the time this update ends.
Nicola jokech on triple double watch sixteen points, eight rebounds,
ten assist.
Speaker 3 (31:16):
Lebron has twelve points.
Speaker 6 (31:17):
See what's Luca gott Luka Doncic has seventeen on seventeen
on fifteen shots. DeAndre eight and scoreless and left this
game with a knee injury, Chris Haynes reporting he will
not return today. Elsewhere in the league, Pelicans and the
Kings in the Marque matchup, but five minutes left in
the third quarter. If you add these two teams wins together,
(31:41):
you don't get to forty. The Repelicans have eighty eight.
Speaker 2 (31:44):
I'm sorry. You could get all the way to the
end of the season and might not get to forty
when you add them up.
Speaker 6 (31:49):
It's just like, who why they should be able to
do something about this, like send this game to end
eighty eight to eighty one.
Speaker 3 (31:56):
Zion's got eight fourteen point seven rebounds. He's on the court.
That's good.
Speaker 6 (32:00):
The Magic beat the Mavericks one fifteen to one fourteen.
Klay Thompson had twenty four points. Only player in the
game to crack twenty points Cooper flag Back in the
lineup for Dallas. Tonight, the Jazz beat the Wizards won
twenty two to one twelve. Isaiah Collier with a double
double heat over the Nets one twenty six to one
ten in overtime. The Rockets and Warriors Golden State with
(32:22):
a one fifteen two one thirteen win. Nok porzingis no
Steph Curry Tonight for Golden State, Brandon Pazzemski leading them
a scoring with twenty six points. Timberwolves over the Raptors
one fifteen to one oh seven. Rudy go Bear with
the points and rebounds double double. The Avernmntal Spurs beat
the Pistons one twenty one to one oh six. Victim
women Ya, I'm gonna put on a show thirty eight points,
(32:45):
sixteen rebounds, five blocks. Kate Cunningham twenty six points, eight assists.
He's been pretty inefficient in his last two games. Took
about twenty six shots to get to those twenty six points.
Tonight one hockey game going the Kings with a three
to one lead over the Islanders started the third period.
Rangers took care of the leaf tonight six to two,
three to nothing, Flyers I mean Mammoth over Flyers. Sabers
(33:07):
beat the Penguins five to one. Blue Jackets double up
the Panthers four to two, Predators six to three over
the Bruins, Jets four to one over the Lightning, and
Senators four to one over the Flames. The Bears traded
away Dj Moore wide receiver to the Bills. They also
sent a fifth round pick. They're getting back a second
round pick. Defensive end for New Orleans Cam Jordan. He's
(33:29):
been a Saint his entire career. He's gonna hit free
agency for the first time. He's been a fifteen year vet.
The Steelers released veteran tight end John new Smith and
Seattle Seahawks and linebacker Drake Thomas Agrude a two year,
eight million dollars deal.
Speaker 3 (33:43):
Fellas back to you.
Speaker 2 (33:45):
Thanks Martin. Coming up next, did we get something great
in Major League Baseball today? First time I think we've
ever seen this, and it's not gonna make umpires happy.
That's next. Jason and Mike Fox gonna be a method.
Speaker 1 (34:00):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.
Speaker 2 (34:09):
Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with My best
friend Mike Harmon. More poppy. Jason fit the vibe with
the music. It's a good song. Come on, what was okay?
Speaker 5 (34:19):
Here you go?
Speaker 2 (34:20):
What Marvel movie was this the opening song? Too? What
Marvel movie was this the opening scene? They played this song?
Green Lantern? Nice I show a movie that people saw
that liked, oh a man, No, the one with the witch.
You mean witch, the viviviviva witch with the No, is
(34:43):
it like red witch or something?
Speaker 4 (34:45):
No?
Speaker 2 (34:45):
Scarlet Witch? Oh close enough? The red scarlettson off brand
read the future Witch? Is it the the off Red,
the the the art?
Speaker 4 (34:53):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (34:53):
Guardians of the Galaxy Volume two? Oh, first scene a
younger Kurt Russell with EGO with Chris Pratt's mom and
they're in the car and they're playing Brandy. There you go.
I was gonna say Charmed. That was my next guest. Nice, Yes,
there you go. Yeah, uh yeah, the Rose McGowan years. Yes, yes,
So we had a first in major League baseball today.
(35:16):
Probably not the first time we'd see it, but we
told you a couple of weeks ago. You know who's
going to have the worst year in Major League baseball?
And it's not close? Are they stop? Are the homeplate umpires?
Because ABS is going to make them look like they
have no idea what a strike is. You're already seeing
the success rate of teams challenging calls and spring training,
(35:37):
and this is when they're just kind of trying stuff
out and they're right all the time. We had the
first We had the I guess you call a tap
off today because you know the signal is you got
a tap helmet, you want it to be looking at
your systemic. Yeah, we had a tap off in the
Braves game today, which again is incredibly embarrassing for Major
League Baseball homeplate.
Speaker 5 (35:58):
Umpires him challenge, Oh, and it's gonna have a challenge.
You gonna have the game ended here on a challenge.
Speaker 3 (36:05):
I mean, is this history? Are we looking at spring
training history?
Speaker 1 (36:08):
Right here?
Speaker 3 (36:08):
Wiley Way go.
Speaker 5 (36:12):
Ball game upon review and the Braves beat the Blue
Jays nine to five.
Speaker 2 (36:19):
There it is Braves TV the first tap off in
MLB history. Because just think we told you how embarrassing
it is for a home played umpire in general when
they get challenge and get a call wrong. Right, Okay,
Now these are gonna be when when it's used during games,
teams are gonna decide they're gonna use it very strategically.
(36:39):
They're not gonna just say, hey, third pitch of the game,
that was a strike, We're gonna challenge it. No, they're
gonna wait, so it's in bad but it's so it's
gonna be embarrassing for umpires so it's gonna be in
decently sized moments. Think about this. The game ended, the
umpire prolonged the game because he got the call wrong
and this, and in fact, when they went I can
(37:00):
look at it. No, the game's over. Like how embarrassing
is that? Like you look at the umpire after that
and go, come on, man, come on, you gotta get
that right. You can't miss that. Like, how embarrassing is
that for a home plan on pire. Again, no one's
gonna have a worse season than homeplate onpires in Major
League Baseball. Yeah, it's gonna be tough, particularly if they
realize you're you're off in your zone a little bit.
How many have been challenged fourteen? He is old for
(37:24):
fourteen or it's a big event. You know they're coming
down to the wire. We got a no hitter or
perfect game? Hey punches the guys. I's like the abs like, nope,
he got it wrong. It was ball four. I think
you're gonna get to a point where an umpires are
gonna get so upset with it he's going to disallow
the Uh the abs No, no, but I'm tappy, No
(37:45):
no pitch next one. I'm sick and tired of losing.
This just go as a ball. No, I'm challenging it. No,
it's a punch.
Speaker 4 (37:52):
Go.
Speaker 2 (37:52):
I'm so pissed up. They could take it. Baby, let's go.
I mean, this is this is I don't I don't
think people are ready and fair are ready for just
how bad it's gonna be for umpires, Because it's good.
It's gonna be torches and Frankenstein and we're coming to
get you because there's already Fans have been upset with
umpires for a long time, missing calls. Look at the
ball strike here. Now we've gotten past it for the
(38:13):
most part. On the base paths and and and balls
at or foul or or or tag plays? Did did
the catcher have the ball? Was he on the plate?
Was he not? So that we've we've kind of gotten
past that for the moment. We still miss some calls
because I wonder what they're actually looking at in Sea
Caucus when they're looking at plays, like how do you
how do you not overturn that? But the ball strike thing,
this is gonna take everything to a new level, new level.
(38:36):
I I bet you you're gonna see a success rate
unless it gets tinkered with, Unless there's you know, somebody
tinkers with us. You're gonna see a success rate for
the for the teams that challenges calls about seventy five percent.
But just think of the way it's always been governed.
Is everybody's got their own strike zone. I know this
guy's on the inner or outer part of the plate.
(38:58):
This guy's gonna be up or down. Uh And and
now you're gonna try to conform to that. That doesn't
happen overnight. Wait, I actually have to call letters de nise.
We're really doing this. Come on, I've been hoping for
thirty years. What the hell are we doing? I mean,
just it's gonna it's gonna start out this way, and
it's not gonna be something like the torpedo bat where hey,
after a couple weeks it goes away. No, no, no,
(39:19):
you're gonna get something. Every day. There's gonna be a
tap there's gonna be a tap off or a tap
off type story every single day. Look at this call.
How it flipped this game. It flip this at bat.
Instead of two outs, runner at first, it's one out,
runners at first and second, three run homer, it's now
three nothing. You're gonna get something like this every single Yeah.
(39:39):
But if I get it overruled, can I be on
the other side. Tap in my helmet. I want you
to look at it again. Oh the double tap.
Speaker 5 (39:45):
Yeah, the double tap.
Speaker 2 (39:46):
Okay, double tap, tap off. No, no, no, I'm done.
I'm double tapping. I'm double tapping. You got it wrong
on review. I'm tapping. I want a second opinion. Exit
out of Fresco, Exit swelling down. We get back into
the biggest NFL story of the day. Next Fox
