Speaker 2 (00:22):
Let's give this.
Speaker 3 (00:23):
If you're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
Welcome inn hour two of the program.
Speaker 4 (00:31):
As we get rolling, twenty minutes from now, we'll get
a visit from our guy John Palmer Rosi, who's an
expert on everything Stanley Cup Final, Major League Baseball.
Speaker 5 (00:41):
And you're in a good mood. I wouldn't.
Speaker 6 (00:43):
I wouldn't be in a good mood. I'd still be upset.
I'm still upset over the Nicks losing in nineteen ninety nine.
Speaker 4 (00:50):
Okay, you know one of those things happening, and I
know you've got one of these is a kid. And
once you've got all that other stuff that starts to
eat away at your soul, your life, you're you're living,
breathing whatever your team losing or winning.
Speaker 2 (01:07):
It sucks.
Speaker 4 (01:08):
Don't get me wrong, but I'm not carrying it around
twenty four hours later, where it's affecting every bit of
my life.
Speaker 5 (01:16):
You're not. I see, there's a difference in No.
Speaker 6 (01:18):
Look, I don't want to take any shots at Jason Smith.
But there's a big difference between being a New York fan.
Speaker 5 (01:26):
And living in New York and being a New.
Speaker 6 (01:29):
York fit and living in Los Angeles or Malibu or
bel Air or be since you do neither.
Speaker 5 (01:38):
Or wherever you guys live by the beach, you know
what I mean.
Speaker 7 (01:42):
I don't want to take any shots at Jason Smith
and then proceeds to take a shot right at all.
Speaker 2 (01:47):
Right, it's like he's google earthed his home.
Speaker 6 (01:50):
No, I just you know, I'm sure life is great
for you guys.
Speaker 5 (01:54):
Just a big difference between you know.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
Look, I'm not gonna let you do that. Hey, it's
already spanning your infra.
Speaker 4 (01:59):
Jays Smith and I welcome in an hour or two
of the show Jason Smith's Show with me Mike Harmon.
In a minute, we're gonna get the tire act play
of the day and to talk about a great moment
in Major League Baseball today. But to continue this thought,
I've often said on this program. Steve can attest to this,
Mary and I and I believe have heard this a
(02:21):
number of times. One of the things I am most
jealous of. Sometimes it drives me to madness, But I'm
also jealous of the fact that Jason Smith is that
guy that lives and breathes, lives and dies with every possession. Yeah,
with every dismanagerial decision, every coaching decision.
Speaker 2 (02:43):
We were on air.
Speaker 4 (02:45):
Watching the final minute of the game, and if he
had any hair, he would have pulled it out when
they didn't foul. And I'm sure to let Tierreon Fox
saying hey, if he's gonna beat him, because I actually
joked to him, I said, hey, you know, he's basically saying,
Daron Fox has been terrible, He's gonna put it in
his hands.
Speaker 2 (03:04):
And what's he doing. He hits a running jumper.
Speaker 6 (03:05):
And then you guys wok back to your mansions in
Malibu and you were.
Speaker 4 (03:09):
No, he's got any mansions, Okay, are stiff blue collar
guys just like you? Yeah, and anything you you talk
openly about being the house boy. I mean, Ian does
a lot of your Sunday shows with Steve. I mean
you talk about this all the time. Man, a life
of leisure, you and your dog Wilson.
Speaker 6 (03:29):
Okay, but but here's.
Speaker 4 (03:32):
What I want to go back to, because you know,
the way you started the show really kind of the antithesis.
I guess of some sentiments from Sunday night that audio, oh,
based on some comments you made to our our colleague
(03:52):
Chris Plank about your love affair with the Nicks and
the expectations here, and they're in.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
No concerns at all, right, none what zero zero?
Speaker 5 (04:03):
I told you. I fear nobody. I fear no team, nobody.
Speaker 2 (04:09):
And now you're afraid.
Speaker 6 (04:11):
I'm not afraid. I just realized we have to win
the next games. That's really I thought you didn't.
Speaker 2 (04:17):
You thought it was done. After after two.
Speaker 5 (04:20):
I thought it was done.
Speaker 6 (04:21):
I thought it was over, And now I know those
clowns on the halftime show said it was over.
Speaker 5 (04:25):
Also, we were up by seven.
Speaker 6 (04:27):
I just assumed we were twenty four minutes away from
winning a championship.
Speaker 5 (04:31):
Is we were like twelve.
Speaker 6 (04:33):
Minutes away from winning a championship. That more like six
minutes away. But whatever, it just that's why it crushed
me to my soul. I mean, think about it fifty
three years and now We're twelve minutes away or twenty
four minutes away from winning the NBA Championship. So now
we're in desperate situation that if we lose this game,
(04:56):
it's tied two games apiece, and now we're going back
to San Antonio.
Speaker 5 (05:00):
I can't have that happening.
Speaker 6 (05:02):
We got it, we just I mean, if we don't
come out strong and take a lead and step on
their throat when they're down, I am I'm just see.
This is why I can never do like live stream
when I watch the game. It's just do too nerve
racking for me. I just it drives me crazy.
Speaker 4 (05:18):
That's why you leave it to the pros like me
and Smith, because we can do that and contain ourselves
and roll through it.
Speaker 5 (05:23):
You see.
Speaker 6 (05:24):
But I have to do certain situations like if the
Knicks are losing, I gotta change the channel or I gotta,
you know, put it on pause, I gotta turn the
volume off or turn the volume higher. I got the
little things to help them win, you know. I gotta
do things too. I'm busy during the game. You know,
you got you gotta do.
Speaker 2 (05:44):
That that makes you feel good about it.
Speaker 6 (05:45):
I mean, I'm superstitious, like crazy I don't know about you,
but I.
Speaker 2 (05:48):
But after fifty three years of futility, you'd think you'd change.
Speaker 5 (05:51):
No, I can't even do that.
Speaker 6 (05:53):
Yeah, you're right, you would think after fifty three years
of trying to be superstitious and it hasn't helped, I
would just say a blanket.
Speaker 5 (06:00):
They'll just they'll find.
Speaker 2 (06:02):
A way to win.
Speaker 4 (06:02):
Wasn't that the old George Costanza? Just do the opposite, right?
Doing it this way for all these years.
Speaker 2 (06:08):
Now we'll just do the opposite exactly.
Speaker 5 (06:10):
Yeah, I should have been doing that all this time.
Speaker 4 (06:12):
Well, but you know what, we we are sometimes slow
learners and for creatures of habit. But no, I mean, look,
we can get you on a live stream and put
your head up alongside us tomorrow if you want, and
we can.
Speaker 6 (06:23):
You don't want to be seeing stream, Yeah, you don't
want to be seeing that. I don't want to be
on the live stream.
Speaker 2 (06:28):
All right, Well then you're uninvited.
Speaker 4 (06:31):
But I thought it was a nice gesture by me
to bring into the show your fandom, because you keep
telling me how much a better fan. You didn't even
answer the question that I posed. It was basically like
you covered your ears, going I can't hear you when
you were doing your giant running monologue about how rich
Smith must be with his diamond encrusted crown in his
(06:52):
mansion near the ocean, it was since you were saying, well,
how much more it means for fans in New York
versus those elitists in Los Angeles when you're neither.
Speaker 2 (07:05):
So what can he possibly mean for you?
Speaker 5 (07:08):
What do you think of?
Speaker 2 (07:08):
You live in New York?
Speaker 5 (07:10):
Well, practically do I live?
Speaker 8 (07:12):
Like?
Speaker 2 (07:12):
No, no, no, practically doesn't count.
Speaker 5 (07:14):
A couple of miles away.
Speaker 2 (07:16):
A couple of.
Speaker 4 (07:16):
Miles is not in the city, Arnie Spaniard, it is
not one of the five boroughs.
Speaker 6 (07:23):
That's, like I said, you don't live in Los Angeles
when technically you live outside the framework. Come on, man,
let's just stop with the nonsense. I'm I'm right here
in the I'm in the Tri.
Speaker 2 (07:32):
State No, no, see now it's the Tri State area.
Speaker 5 (07:36):
Yeah, exactly, it's not.
Speaker 2 (07:37):
It's not even a couple of miles outside of the edity.
Speaker 5 (07:41):
You may have heard of the Tri State area. I'm
not sure you have.
Speaker 2 (07:44):
Yeah, I have.
Speaker 4 (07:45):
And the point I'm just trying to make is, you know,
don't don't cast stones at a guy for where he's
making his trade.
Speaker 5 (07:53):
Look no offense.
Speaker 6 (07:54):
You guys live in La Okay, you've all become soft
sports fans, just like everybody else in.
Speaker 5 (07:59):
Law Los Angeles.
Speaker 4 (08:02):
You know, I'm going to say something that sorry existence
as a as a radio host, but I'm gonna say it,
that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard?
Speaker 5 (08:11):
Will you say that every time I fill in?
Speaker 4 (08:13):
No?
Speaker 2 (08:14):
I don't.
Speaker 4 (08:15):
You generally am very deferential and respectful. You never longevity
and history of the stink and Jews. You're still waiting
for the memoir.
Speaker 6 (08:23):
Wait wait you you never heard of that being out
in the West coast thins out your blood?
Speaker 2 (08:28):
You never heard of that? That I understand.
Speaker 5 (08:30):
Oh okay, that you understand.
Speaker 2 (08:31):
No, no, because that's a physical thing. No, no, no,
it's not. It's it's not at all.
Speaker 5 (08:36):
Yeah, it is.
Speaker 4 (08:37):
The fandom is still there. It still hurts deep, like
I took a long walk along the beach looking at
the ocean and the beautiful people. When the latest round
of this bears Indiana thing, Arlington Heights.
Speaker 5 (08:51):
All of that is that really bothering you?
Speaker 2 (08:54):
It does?
Speaker 5 (08:55):
Why?
Speaker 4 (08:56):
Because I first half of my life I lived in Chicago.
I don't friends, family still there. For me, it's it's
more just the I'm I'm offended by the discussion around
it and how the lack of nuance in most people's
arguments offends me.
Speaker 5 (09:12):
Well, we've been doing sports talk for a million years.
Speaker 6 (09:15):
I can't remember one phone call, one email, one tweet,
one text of Eddy New Yorkers said really bummed out
that the Jests and the Giants still play in New York,
that they played in New g Oh.
Speaker 4 (09:27):
Yeah, that you might have taken phone calls you know
via the uh, you know, the telegraph way back in
the day when they actually made that move versus this
is this is real for people right now. And again
I come back to the there's lots of moneies to
be had, the full run idea of it with Ryan
Hollins on our Sunday show, Fox Sports Sunday and go
(09:50):
find the podcast there. But the fandom is there, like
the White Sox futility all these years. Finally turning it around.
I have some nice things. I've got a guy who's
Homer every other day. What happens six to eight weeks
with a hammy gone?
Speaker 2 (10:05):
Just like that?
Speaker 4 (10:06):
The goodness I cried on air talking about the death
of Stacy King on Sunday like it's still there, like
all of that Chicago boy and me lives it just
and I have my moment and then I have to
get back to the business of, you know, communicating with
people in in what I hope is a thoughtful, meaningful way.
Speaker 6 (10:28):
And the funny part is you're all your stadium used
to be dumps like wriggly Field.
Speaker 2 (10:33):
Wrig Field is the has always been a dump.
Speaker 5 (10:36):
Commits dumpy.
Speaker 3 (10:38):
Alone.
Speaker 2 (10:39):
And the third deck the.
Speaker 4 (10:42):
Old Bulls Stadium in Chicago Stadium was fantastic again, a
great family of rats in the deck where we'd go
see Black Oks game.
Speaker 6 (10:50):
And now Soldier Field is a cover on their scrutiny.
It's just like every ten years or one of the
places above their other scrutinies.
Speaker 4 (10:57):
Well, I mean, the big thing with Soldier Field is
you can't monetize anymore of it and the Bears have
no stake in the stadium. Part of that elaborate thing
from Sunday that people have lost in this process is
they can have a million events at Soldier Field. The
Bears don't get another dime.
Speaker 6 (11:11):
If they were moving it to another place in Illinois,
another place in Chicago, nobody would be saying a damn thing.
The fact that it's going to another state, even though
it's actually about to save amount miles away, is rubbing
everybody the wrong way.
Speaker 4 (11:26):
Well, folks are still mad even if they were to
move to Arlington Heights where they bought that land of
the old race track all those years ago. But it's
more just the what's that.
Speaker 6 (11:36):
Why would they be mad if they moved to Arlington Heights.
Speaker 4 (11:39):
Well, because it's still a movement from Soldier Field, from downtown,
from history, all of that for those that still live
in that space, right, And you do to a degree
right as a fan, right, you harken back to certain
points in your upbringing and what.
Speaker 2 (11:57):
Made you a fan. And some of it is the
state in which it's played.
Speaker 6 (12:01):
Nobody's which Candlestick was around, or the forty nine ers
and Giants used to play.
Speaker 2 (12:07):
Oh I bet if you go up to the Bay Area,
you'll find plenty of folks that loved it. I enjoyed it.
Speaker 4 (12:13):
I just didn't like the getting in or getting out.
It's like going to Dodger Stadium from now.
Speaker 2 (12:17):
It's tough. It adds a lot of time, to my day.
Speaker 5 (12:22):
That's tough in San Diego. Used to be tough getting
in and out.
Speaker 4 (12:24):
Go to Petco down there now, but you know it's
it's like, yeah, Jack Murphy Stadium was not in qualcomm.
Speaker 2 (12:30):
They were not not good. But all of that to say.
Speaker 4 (12:34):
But since we're now talking a little bit of baseball,
we've got John Paul Morosi coming up in a moment,
I'd be remiss if we didn't do the tire Rack
Play of the day, a big milestone. We'll talk more
about it with JP in a couple of minutes, but
here it was from AM five to seventy LA Sports and.
Speaker 5 (12:49):
Freddie Freeman swings there.
Speaker 9 (12:50):
It is Pitt number twenty five hundred HiT's a pace
hit to center. Freeman comes into the score. Oh Tani
goes first to third. So Freddie Freeman with a milestone
hit two thousand and five hundred career hits for Freddy Freeman.
Speaker 8 (13:04):
There.
Speaker 4 (13:04):
It is a five seventy LA Sports on the Call,
brought to you by ti Rack. For over forty years,
Tyrack's been helping customers find the right tires for how,
what and where they drive, should fast and free back
by free road hazard protection with convenient installation options like
mobile tire installation tirerac dot com the way tire buying
should be. With that hit Freddy Freeman, he's sitting at
(13:26):
one hundred and second all time, needs another thirteen hits
to pass Jimmy Ryan.
Speaker 2 (13:32):
Wow on the all time list. So there you go.
Speaker 4 (13:35):
We'll talk about that, amongst many things with a he's
a man of the world. Did Jean Palmrosi coming up
with us next? He's already spanner in for Jason Smith.

Hey, welcome back in It's Fox Sports Radio Jason Smith
Show with Me Mike Harmon. There is no Jason Smith tonight.
It is instead the legend. You hear them Sunday Nights
alongside Chris Plank. Three hours of merriment and well chaos,
pretty much often steered by the yellow lego peg writing
(15:58):
Arnie Spaniard sticking genius one where you find him in
the Twitter.
Speaker 5 (16:02):
No Cowin uses a yellow yellow leg Yes he does.
Speaker 2 (16:07):
How about that? Does he use the big one or
the little one?
Speaker 5 (16:10):
I don't know. You see now you're not making fun
of it anymore, huh.
Speaker 2 (16:13):
I mean I'm moderately intrigued.
Speaker 4 (16:17):
Enough for the filibustering and the segmentation, because you know
it wasn't I didn't even know you were with me
this evening, and I'd already seen the yellow pad.
Speaker 2 (16:27):
That's just like that.
Speaker 4 (16:28):
I got those texts bang bang bang as I woke
up from my uh nap. Well, I mean a lot
of it, says Ernie, this Ernie that. I mean, it's
a lot of me, me, me, me, me, you know
very much, the old uh Toby Keith song. I want
to talk about me, I want to talk about my
that's you. I like talking about you. You you usually
(16:49):
but occasionally, Hey, I want to talk about me, except
it's usually all about you. But right now we're gonna
turn our attention to the guest. Outline, the music means
one man. Man, He's multifaceted, multi cultured. Man of the World,
World Cup, this week Stanley Cup Final, and of course
(17:10):
Major League Baseball. It's John Paul Morosi at John Morosi
in the twitters j O N m r Os. I
leave out the h because Moms said, so MLB network
you catch him there, but joins us each and every week.
Speaker 2 (17:24):

Speaker 4 (17:27):
I got Arnie in for Jason, another suffering Knicks fan
after last night.
Speaker 8 (17:34):
Well, Mike and Arnie, good evening. So many different ways
the wee can start this conversation, But Mike, Arnie, do
I have to go right to the South Side and
the Chicago White Sox a win tonight, and Arnie, You're
worked on this show with a great White Sox fan.
(17:54):
I'm the native of the south Side and Mike Harmon, Mike,
I am beginning to believe it's early June. I believe
that the south Siders now have full permission to.
Speaker 4 (18:07):
Believe six' five win today over those front run in
forty five and twenty Two Atlanta. Braves No amrikami on
the DL il these days for a. While vargas with
another home, Run montgomery with a. HOMER i, mean we
we've got chaos on the south side Of, chicago and
it's a beautiful thing we.
Speaker 8 (18:29):
Do and this is as we talk about the way
that The Stanley Cup finals are wrapping, up and of
course THE nba finals as. Well baseball were still early
days and The American, league my, friends if you are
a fan of An American league, team with the possible
exception of The angels and probably The Red, sox this
(18:54):
is the land of opportunity right now twenty twenty. Six
even a team like The, tigers which has struggled so.
Mightily and we were already a week ago just talking
about what the best what the best prospect package would
be for A Trek. Scoobel well they're still on the
radce and by the, way they're about to Get Trek's
(19:14):
scuobel back And casey my. Back so, uh this is
the kind of a year where everyone in The American
league thinks they're in. It and if you are going
to be so bold as to decide that you're going
to be a, seller like maybe The San Francisco, giants
you could do some pretty good work because this is
going to be a seller's market given all the teams
(19:37):
that believe they are in the.
Speaker 6 (19:39):
Hunt you, know by the, WAY, JP i know you
guys Are chicago, guys BUT i just wanted you to
know THAT i lived In northbrook for three.
Speaker 5 (19:45):
YEARS i lived In Lake bluff for three more. YEARS
i was on.
Speaker 6 (19:49):
The newlywed game For Chicago Couples Famoue Chicago. Couples, so
and one of the questions Was beth Was arnie is
he A south Or North?
Speaker 5 (20:01):
Sider And i'm neither. One i'm a Met so she
had the guests right on that. One SO i just.
Speaker 8 (20:08):
That is. AWESOME i love that. Detail chicago is one
of those cities that you, KNOW i never have lived,
there But i've covered a lot of baseball. There AND
i was the summer of two thousand and. THREE i
was covering The Midwest league In West, michigan and my
sports Editor Mary olmer sent me over To Wrigley field
(20:29):
to cover a series between The astros and The cubs
and the magical summer of two thousand and, three AND
i looked out at that beautiful ballpark AND i said to,
MYSELF i think this is gonna be my.
Speaker 4 (20:41):
JOB i.
Speaker 8 (20:44):
Have an, idea this is WHAT i want to do
for a. Living so at that point there was a
little bit of uncertainty of exactly what my calling. Was
but looking out On Wrigley field that Beautiful august, DAY i.
Speaker 6 (20:56):
Do by the, way if you ever want to have,
fun one, SUMMER i was out here doing a radio
show at this.
Speaker 5 (21:02):
Place go To alaska.
Speaker 6 (21:04):
During the summer league baseball where they're throwing first pitch
at like ten o'clock at, night no lights because it's
still sunny out and it's a packed.
Speaker 5 (21:14):
House it is so. Enjoyable you would have a blast doing.
Speaker 8 (21:17):
That love, it and of course give given where you
are a lot of the, Year, arnie in the Beautiful,
northeast you could also cover some of those gorgeous little
minor league, ballparks whether It's, burlington whether It's, lavier whether
It's Quebec, City Le capital To Quebec, city all those
beautiful little venues there in The northeast up Into quebec
(21:38):
And canada love that level of, baseball.
Speaker 4 (21:41):
Look at that level of excitement all. Across we had
that Cool Paul skiing story right going and visiting the little.
Leaguers we'll get into that a little more as we.
Go but also a guy still playing despite his advanced
years like a little kid with hit number. Twenty today
talking About Freddy freeman of The, dodgers it was our
(22:04):
play of the DAY jp twelve three to the, final
that nine run inning that never seemed to end as
they take down The. Pirates but For Freddie, freeman The
Miles stone and we talk longevity and history and what
it takes to get to that kind of. Level just
an incredible career and can we dare reach for three?
(22:26):
Thousand do you think he's got enough time left in that?
Speaker 8 (22:28):
Bat, well that's a great, Question. Mike And freddy is
someone that has talked pretty candidly about the importance of,
family how obviously as a, father and he's got obviously
a very young, family and his family is very important
to him that he doesn't necessarily want to hang on
and play until he's forty. Five, here he's not going
(22:51):
to be one of these players that is trying to
squeeze out one last, hit mister three, thousand if you, will.
Speaker 2 (22:58):
Great, Movie Bernie, mack great.
Speaker 8 (23:00):
Movie but that's Not freddy's. CALLING i think he if
he can do, it and he keeps at this great,
clip could he play three more years and get, there
four more years and get. There it's certainly. Possible but
he's not the kind of guy that's gonna link in
his career just just to get that round. Number he's
(23:23):
already going to be A hall Of. Famer i'm A
hall Of fame. Voter that's an easy, vote easy vote
sure For Freddie, freeman whether or not he gets to three.
Thousand so he's already got multiple world, titles he's already
got all The All star appearance as you can possibly.
IMAGINE i think he's at a point in his life
where winning obviously still matters more than anything. Else but
(23:45):
he's gonna keep trying to do that and then most
important to be a family, man way before he worries
about three. Thousand so my, sense AND i don't want
to speak For, freddy but my sense is he'll he's
just going to try to stack as many good days
and as many hits as he can and whatever that
final number is it. IS i don't think he's going
to be motivated by trying to hit three, thousand.
Speaker 6 (24:07):
All, RIGHT i know you got to be digging The Stanley.
Cup hurricanes wanted they get out. There first of, all
where do you? Start they gave up the four goal
lead last. Game this, game they had a two goal
to nothing. Lead they had to make a change At,
goalie they win five to. Three it's two games a,
piece AND i still don't know what's going to.
Speaker 5 (24:26):
Happen it's. Crazy it is, crazy and part.
Speaker 8 (24:29):
Of it, Too. Arnie the joy of this Particular Standy
cup final Is game one's a one goal. Game game
two is a one goal. Game game three is a
one goal game with a crazy comeback in each, direction
and Then game four is a one goal game up
until the empty, netter which was one of the most
remarkable empty netters you're ever going to, see with the
way the eithers bounced it off the half wall and
(24:52):
the go ahead goal to winning goal By stall was
also simply. Outstanding Yet bussy making his first playoffs start
In game four or The cup final the Former Western
Michigan University broncos so just a number of great layers and.
Storylines huge fan of the way That Jordan stall has
played in this. Series Thanks Jalen chatfield has been excellent For.
Carolina this is where it should, be AND i do
(25:16):
think heading The game, five of Course carolina's on home.
Ice the big Question i've got From vegas', perspective And
sean McDonough mentioned this later on in the. Show in
the broadcast tonight is Is ichael and on the power
play in, Particular it's hard for me to Believe vegas
can win this series Without ikele scoring, goals not just registering,
(25:38):
points but putting the puck in the, net because it
felt like tonight was the moment and he came al so.
Close but this moment in the series is calling For ikel's.
Involvement of, course the gold medals of The olympics this,
year he is due for a big moment In game.
Speaker 4 (25:54):
Five, yeah we had the chaos in the pregame of
the fact That anderson didn't, dress so the surprise and
net and a little bit of chaos. There but now
we're at two two best of three to roll so
many big sporting. EVENTS, jp you're a man that wears many,
hats and obviously covering The Stanley cup final and THE
(26:16):
nhl as you do At John morosi for those in
The twitter verse as. Well but we've got that other big,
event one hundred and four matches to, GO Fifa World.
Cup No italy for. You so what language are you
perfecting and what team are you?
Speaker 8 (26:31):
Adopting working On spanish of, course that is the most
broadly adaptable language that you can speak when covering The World.
CUP i am planning on getting some games in, person
which is going to be a lot of. FUN i
tell you, what this country is ready for. It and
to be, honest if you're someone that enjoys social media
(26:52):
and you've probably noticed the last few days the number
of fans from around the, world and then also teams
around the world that are being based in unique and
Small american, cities that is the essence of what is
going on. Here smaller towns and Lace, Lawrence kansas has
(27:14):
a team from The Middle. East you've Got spain is In, Chattanooga.
Tennessee this is what we are as a sports people
at our very. Best when you zoom out and you
look at The United, states just the sheer scope of our,
country the diversity of our, country AND i think the
readiness that we, have the fascination with, sports, sports And
(27:38):
Mike trico talked about this is The. Olympics sports brings
out the best of, Us it really. Does it's something
that we do culturally very. Well we're not perfect in
the sports world or anywhere, else but we do this
better than we do a lot of. Things AND i
think hosting This World cup it's the perfect event at
the perfect time and, place and we've got plenty of
(27:59):
skeptic about. THAT i think that our country is going
to rise to the moment and meet the, moment and
it's going to be a great. Success obviously for the home.
Country uh you wanna as much as you're not supposed to, root,
Listen i'll say. THIS i hope THE us goes on
a great. RUN i Hope canada goes on a great.
RUN i Hope mexico goes on a great. Run because
(28:19):
when those if those three host nations are all rolling
and playing before packed, houses and you've got real social
moments and momentum behind these these, teams it's gonna make
for a magical summer to cross our. Continent SO i
hope that this week is just the start of a
really special six weeks THE. Us, obviously it Starts friday for,
(28:40):
them nine Pm Eastern time On fox of course Against.
Podaguay and and it's not an easy matchup THE. Us to,
me they had a good SHOWING i thought Against germany
over the, weekend wanting to See polisic now really get.
GOING a beautiful volley goal By Jedi. ROBINSON i think the,
goal the goalkeeping situations pretty much. SETTLE i think it's
(29:02):
going to be freeze to. Begin but they've Got turner
if they need. Him richards his health is going to
be a really big question there at the center back.
Position but this is gonna be a big, test AND
i think THE us needs to. Win i'm not saying win,
convincingly but if you're gonna make a long run in this,
tournament this is a game you should. Win Because australia
(29:22):
is not an easy. One Nora's turkey a and so
The pataguay, match which is not an easy, one THE
us needs to look convincing to be sure that they
get through the group in a good position and then
go on a.
Speaker 6 (29:34):
Run that's WHAT i want to ask. You you know
you saw The germany. Game germany wins two to, one
In United states fifty five to, one the win the whole.
Speaker 5 (29:42):
Thing does that two to one game make you more
optimistic or you're, like, WELL.
Speaker 6 (29:48):
I knew we were gonna lose To germany and or
does it make you like we're going to have a
terrible time if we lost the way we lost To.
Speaker 8 (29:55):
Germany So i'll tell you this one of my dear,
friends our neighbors here in the, neighborhood THAT i was out
for a jog that morning before the game and he
was playing soccer in the front yard and, Said, hey
what do you got in the, Game and he, SAID
i think it'll be two One, germany AS i think,
too Won germany, too so we.
Speaker 5 (30:12):
Were both on.
Speaker 8 (30:13):
It so so basically answer your question dialed, IN i
think it was exactly the right. Score but WHAT i
will say, too is that this, team THE us is
a top twenty country in. Soccer it is good enough
at least to make the round of sixteen and maybe
even a quarter. Final of, course you go back to
(30:34):
two thousand and two with their handball away from being
in the semi and this is a golden generation has
a chance to BE i should say a golden generation
of THE. Us we have not yet seen them find
greater success than the team did in two thousand and
two When Greg Burhalter sebastian's, dad When Claudia arena was
(30:55):
still on the. Team and it's a different generation that
Young Lennon donovan was on that. Team that's my big
question is can this, group which has so much, talent
coalesce and find a way to go on a, run
not just make the knockout, round but win some knockout
round matches and really take this country on a. Ride
they're good enough to do, it BUT i think the
(31:15):
health Of Tyler adams in the mid in the midfield
and his availability is going to be. Paramount and Then
polisic has got to put the ball in the back
of the. Net that that that needs to be a
part of the. Story he's gonna have to be. IMMENS
i believe he can Be. TACTICALLY i Think pachetino knows
this group, now so we're. Ready it's it's one of
those things where are we are we of the class
(31:35):
Of france Or england or The Dutch? Brazil probably, not but,
hey the best team doesn't always win and if we
get to the quarterfinal of the, COUNTRY i think it'll
be a successful.
Speaker 2 (31:48):
Tournament he's the man of all.
Speaker 4 (31:51):
Seasons our, Guy John palmarosi At John barossi where you
find him in the, TWITTERVERSE Mlb, NETWORK Nhl, Media SIRIUS

caffeine flowing. Through, Brother always good to talk to you

pacific hey welcome Back In Fox Sports Radio Jason smith
show With Me. Mike carmon we'll get back INTO The.
Speaker 4 (37:57):
Nba finals coming up about, ten minutes but be remind
us it's a story that it just warms the heart
and it speaks to A movement i think, across sports
and it's tied back to the burgeoning sports. Card industry
a lot of players that, are collectors reconnecting, with fans
trading for their one of ones or debut patches and
(38:18):
all of those kind.
Speaker 2 (38:19):
Of things but a story that hit The.
Speaker 4 (38:22):
Circuit, Arnie, spaniard Yeah Was paul skens driving Past The
Ingamar franklin Park Little league, baseball fields saw the, lights
on decided to, pull in and he was there two hours,
taking pictures playing a little, soft toss signing, some autographs
all of those kind. Of things and it harkens just,
(38:45):
you know one of THE things i pointed out and
looking at a. Terrible. Game three will get back into
it in a few But For Karl, anthony towns one
of the big sound bites for Me that i've. Used
twice we've done it Here with jay AND then i
did It With ryan Hollins, On sunday just that idea
of the respect of the fans and of the City
(39:06):
Of new york and how much that means to him
and to have a number of players where we see
these connections. Being Made paul skins didn't need to pull over, said,
hey hey cool little. League whatever but we're seeing more
and more of the younger players. Embracing that there's still
some little kidnem THAT'S because i.
Speaker 6 (39:26):
Think more more players are more unlikable than the players
of the, EARLY years i.
Speaker 5 (39:33):
Should say and we've talked about.
Speaker 6 (39:34):
THIS before, I mean nike even said THAT the nba
players have, become likable that's why they can't sell. The
shoes i've actually had my run ins with celebrities or
players or played against them and stuff, like that and
it's an.
Speaker 5 (39:48):
Absolute blast when. It happens you don't.
Speaker 6 (39:50):
Expect it it comes out of. The blue good for
him for, you know pulling over and taking time out
of his day and going back to, simple things doing
what's important and giving back to.
Speaker 5 (40:03):
The community that's what it's.
Speaker 4 (40:04):
All, about well, it's funny is it harkens back to
stories my my parents and my my uncles and aunts
and everybody would tell about the Neighborhoods. In chicago uh
and back then when players had off.
Speaker 2 (40:18):
Season, jobs, yeah, yeah, yeah right they were.
Speaker 4 (40:20):
Guys in, the communities, you know, delivering, milk beer carrying slabs,
of meat whatever. The whatever it was like they had
these jobs and then if you, were out, you know
playing stickball, or whatever they might stop for a minute
because it was important. To them you, know that, you
know they they showed. That love but you know that was.
(40:42):
The vocation but it didn't pay all the bills for a.
Speaker 2 (40:46):
Full Year, at.
Speaker 4 (40:49):
Yeah but that's, the, Thing RIGHT and i like this
From from skiens and a guy, that like eventually he's
going to write, his ticket whether he decides to stay
And in pittsburgh and they find a way to retain
him or he ends up on one of these. OTHER marketplaces,
i mean he's, a, Name right he's one of those
stars that we, talk about so, you know the lead
(41:12):
by example and have some of your biggest players doing
those kind of things because a lot of guys are
contractually obligated to do a few. OF those I Remember
carlton fisk had the personal service contract With The white
sox and they had him do a speech for a
bunch of women about baseball to kind, of explain, you
know little nuances. And whatever and at some point he
dropped his pants to show the bruises he had from catching.
Speaker 2 (41:35):
Because he didn't like doing that part of.
Speaker 5 (41:37):
HIS contract, O funny so.
Speaker 4 (41:40):
You know running the gamut as, it were he's already
spanned Your At stinking genius one is where you. Find
him find me Over At. Swollen dome as, we continue
we get Back into game four OF The. Nba finals
what do we expect tomorrow night at this time
